I made it back from my little comic con getaway! I’m semi-alive.
I come bearing pics (though not as many as I would’ve liked). So, I’ll put them under the cut for those of you who want to see them. Anyone else, feel free to keep scrolling. This is just me rambling. And showing off my cosplay and Daredevil merch I bought. With a lot of text. Sorry.
I didn’t have the time to take a pic of my Day One Matt Cosplay, but I do have pics from the test run I did a couple of days back.

(I didn’t have the time to put on the fake blood on Saturday, but that was kind of how I wanted it to look when I first tried it on, minus the added blood on the nose, that was just a stupid attempt at making it look more… gore-y? I think. I don’t know. My brain is tired and I’m just typing this on my phone and I don’t have the brain cells to form a coherent thought.)
Anyway, the first two is a (kind of) look at how I looked at the con on Saturday. It was a very slutty version of lawyer!Matt and the Season 1 promo poster. I tried. Also, I have no idea how to take proper pictures of myself. I apologize 😭
NOW moving on to my look on Day Two (today). That was a lot easier because I already had the sweater, and there was no way I wouldn’t pull up in the iconic “I’m Not Daredevil” Comic!Matt look. It was the obvious choice.

(Excuse the crusty-ass hotel selfie quality.)
I really enjoyed dressing up, and I think I might invest even more time and money for next year and go all out. As much as I can, anyway.
It was fun, but it was definitely different than last year. A lot less crowded, too. I still think it was amazing and I’ve loved seeing everyone dress up as their favorite characters and just feel welcome because everyone was there for the same reason. That’s why I love these conventions so much. It really is a judgement free zone.
And there is always a lot of shopping, which I did. I secured a lot of goods, and of course, I am going to share them with you now.
I got this amazing Elektra Funko.
Tumblr media
AND THIS?!?! I FUCKING LOVE IT!!
Tumblr media
And the girl selling this was so excited someone finally bought one of her Matt prints, we both geeked out. I still can’t believe I found this.
And then I got these pins…
Tumblr media
AND THIS AMAZING GINORMOUS SWEATER/HOODIE/BLANKET
Tumblr media
And a Barbie poster (It says “Hi Barbie” but I was too lazy to unroll it completely)
Tumblr media
Overall, I think I found some amazing stuff! I just had to share it with you.
Can’t wait for spring next year, honestly.

well now i can’t say “nobody asked for this…”
(dear anon, i hope this helps!)
fyi—i spend way too much of my time looking things up for this fic… and this is some of what i saved when it came to outfits/hair and also just some basics info/stuff :)
———————
mike in 2004
hair: styled like johnny depp’s hair in the 90s… he’s kept it shoulder length or longer since 1986—he ditched the bangs at some point in the early 90s! and since he doesn’t dye it, there’s some gray throughout
outfits: white or black t-shirt’s, black jeans, and converse high tops are still his bread-and-butter base. his style is pretty consistent because he’s not a big fan of change—he likes what he likes! it’s just super easy for him to throw something else over a plain t-shirt and walk out the door.
overall: he doesn’t typically keep his face clean-shaven, call it laziness, but sometimes he will wait two weeks or more between picking up a razor. he’s still skinny because he doesn’t always eat right, skipping meals because he gets too distracted with video games, but years of drinking are starting to take a toll and reflect in his skin, at times looking sallow
Tumblr media
———————
will in 2004
hair: styled basically like whatever hayden christensen was doing to his hair in 2003/2004, also not a fan of hair dye, and also as he got older there was a bit more wave to his hair
outfits: wears lots of flannels, band/graphic tees, polos, button ups with sweater vests, jeans/corduroy/khaki pants, adidas/saucony jazz/new balance style sneakers—usually laid back but he will also use any excuse to dress it up! wears square-framed tortoiseshell glasses since 2001 (when he had to renew his driver’s license he couldn’t pass the eyesight test—got his eyes checked and sure enough he needed glasses!)—and included that picture of noah wearing glasses cause when i saw it i was like, wow yeah, that’s not too far off, just change the frames and age him 15 years… lol
overall: usually keeps his face free of any stubble, also has a few gray hairs but not as many as mike and he likes to walk or run for exercise to better keep in shape, in the summer he’s been known to pick up a tan, and he has one tattoo—the word “love” written in morse code under the scar from where nancy burnt him with a hot iron [ .-.. --- ...- . ]
Tumblr media
———————
holly in 2004
(holly is 24, about the same age as kristen bell so I kinda picture her from veronica mars season 1 but with long hair/dyed like cady heron from “mean girls”—holly watched the movie earlier that year and liked the look!)
outfits: low rise flare jeans, denim jackets, fitted shirts, canvas vans sneakers, low top converse
Tumblr media
———————
el in 2004
hair: long, always past her shoulders at least—she doesn’t like cutting it short for obvious reasons—she also dyes it and never skimps on spending money to maintain it and loves adding things like butterfly clips or barrettes with sparkles
outfits: she loves fashion and experimenting with her wardrobe. lots of delicate details and whimsy. a lot of what claire danes and anne hathaway were wearing 2002-2004
what she’s up to: el never went to college, but attends a few business seminars in between all her world travels and eventually invests some of her government hush money into opening a vintage/antique shop in hawkins that her and joyce run together.
Tumblr media
el’s exact outfit from ch 8!
Tumblr media
———————
outfit inspiration for mike + will in 1999 (aka for ch. 15)
mike: black jeans, ochre yellow striped button down, and of course he would’ve worn his typical converse shoes if he had to physically travel to the house that night, but alas… lol
will: brown dress shoes (normally wears sneakers, but for special occasions he gets fancy), light wash denim with navy turtle neck, plus brown leather jacket
(yes… i purposefully made them wear each others colors 😏)
Tumblr media
———————
the mood board i made for nancy + jonathan’s wedding in 1993
(i’ve posted this before but idk how many of you saw it lol)
Tumblr media
of course there is more i could add and sadly there’s things i’ve since cleared from my phone like the picture i had saved of a wedding dress i thought nancy would wear… but if there is anything else you’d like to know, i’m always down to talk more about this story! send me a message—you don’t have to stay on anon unless you wanna, but i don’t bite!! ;)

Kiss Me More (Part II) - Zemo/Reader
Tumblr media
Masterlist || Part One
Summary: Part two, read part one if you haven’t already! Sam & Bucky put reader in charge of looking after Zemo....again. Series loosely inspired by this song.
Words: 2.5k
Warnings: Kissing, heavy petting, mentions of sex, minor TFATWS spoilers.
A/N: Wow! I was so shocked on the feedback I got on the first part of this story. It has nearly 800 notes. I’m not used to my writing getting that kind of attention so I really appreciate the love. I decided to make this into at least a 3-4 part series and there will be eventual smut, but I feel like there’s something sweet between these two that goes beyond an obvious physical attraction, so I do want to build that a bit before we get there. This weekend I rewatched TFATWS & Civil War because I’m officially obsessed with Zemo lol. Please let me know what you think, and let me know if you’d like to be added to the taglist. :)
-----
“Keep an eye on him.”
Y/N watched Bucky and Sam split off again. That was now at least the third time she’d heard that phrase since she arrived in Riga. Little did they know, she was probably the worst person to be put in charge of Zemo. Truthfully, it was starting to be a little insulting.
It was unclear why she’d been brought along on this mission, when half the time Sam and Bucky were talking in hushed tones just out of her earshot. There was always more to the story than they told her, but this time, it felt like she was more out of the loop than ever.
She adjusted the neckline of the sweater she wore out of an abundance of caution, checking subconsciously to make sure it hadn’t exposed the mark Zemo had left on her from the day before. It was a discovery she’d made that morning, and persisted despite her efforts to cover it up with makeup.
“According to those two, I must be the best at babysitting you,” she muttered under her breath. It was petty, so she wasn’t even sure if she wanted him to hear. But he did.
“Babysitting?” Zemo lifted an eyebrow.
“You know, a nanny, a governess….whatever a Baron’s equivalent is,” she said, looking him in the eye for the first time that day, which was a mistake. He looked so handsome in that long, fur-lined coat, tall and refined, hair styled perfectly. There had to be warrants out for his arrest since escaping prison, and in his current getup, he was hard to miss.
It wasn’t easy to ignore the stifling tension between them. The Baron hadn’t left her thoughts since she’d closed the door on him the evening before. Now they were alone again. She couldn’t decide if that was thrilling or terrifying, so she decided on both.
“It’s nice of them to give us some alone time,” Zemo stepped close to her, one gloved hand pressing between her shoulder blades. Despite the cool temperature outside, it was the first thing today that had her shivering.
“Walk with me,” he commanded sternly. She saw no opportunity to refuse as they started in the direction opposite of where Bucky and Sam had disappeared.
“Zemo-”
“Helmut,” he corrected her. “But go on…”
“We have to focus on figuring out where Donya’s funeral will be,” she said, feeling his hand slide down to settle on the small of her back, trying to inch away, but he just pulled her closer. “We can’t waste time.”
“I know Riga inside and out, that won’t be as difficult as you and your friends think,” he murmured. His proximity was already suffocating. Or maybe comforting. It was hard to tell. “Tell me, what is your business with them? You aren’t an Avenger. This was my first time hearing your name.”
She snorted, finally finding the strength to pull away, and he dropped his hand. That was one thing that had confounded her. He was confident, took liberties with what others would allow, but knew when to stop pushing. There was something alluring to his nature.
“I’m not,” she responded, wondering how much she was willing to share. When she stole a glance out of the corner of her eyes, his head was lowered, leaning in, listening intently for her response. She wondered if he really cared, or if he was good at pretending. It was easy to believe that he did.
“Bucky and I aren’t that different,” she continued. “That’s why we’re friends. I’m not a super soldier, but I was taught how to fight, how to kill. I followed orders for too long without questioning whether or not I was doing the right thing. And at least now, I think I am.”
“You think,” he repeated, and corrected her again like he had the day before. As much as she wanted some kind of clever or quick quip back, she wore her heart on her sleeve for the moment and shrugged. There was nothing to defend when she still wasn’t sure what responsibilities she had in this world.
Zemo halted, and she paused too, turning back to look at him. “So you were an assassin,” he murmured, reaching out. Nodding slightly, she lowered her eyes when his gloved thumb brushed across her face. The buttery, overpowering smell of leather took her over as he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “I would’ve never guessed. Du bist so süß.”
Her knowledge of German was limited, but she could see a flash of what looked like affection in his eyes. He couldn’t be lying, could he? She wondered. She wanted to trust that he wasn’t, wanted to identify every good part of him she could, so she could justify the overwhelming attraction she felt towards him. Something in her just kept pulling forward against her will, like a magnet.
“You’d be surprised,” she answered, but didn’t pull away. The intensity of his gaze made her feel weak, but there was something strangely reassuring in his eyes. It was just the two of them, standing on a crowded sidewalk.
She rose her hand to clasp around his, frowning when she felt the hard loop of a ring on one of his gloved fingers. It had gone unnoticed by her, until now. He still wore a wedding band.
It would have been easy to vocalize the observation, gauge his reaction, try to regain some upper hand and remind him who exactly he was dealing with. But, it would’ve been pointlessly cruel, as she knew what that felt like to answer that question. Those days were behind her, now.
As if the universe was scolding her, a loud car horn broke through the perceived silence. His hand dropped from her face, and they began to walk again.
“I had lots of time to think in prison,” he said after a heady pause in conversation. “About the things I’d done. Whatever intentions you have, to someone, you’re always the enemy. What I thought was important, trying to serve the greater good, it isn’t always worth the trouble. I was trying to protect what I had already lost, the places and people I’d taken for granted.”
Deciphering his words, she took a moment before responding. “That’s actually...very insightful,” she said, partly surprised by what he’d shared, appreciating that he felt her vulnerability, and matched it in his response.
“I know you’re stunned I’m not a brute,” he answered, increasing his pace to a determined strut rather than a lazy stroll. She was forced to keep up with him. “You’ve been told what to think about me by Sam and Bucky.”
She scoffed. “Not just them. The entire world. All the people you’ve hur-”
He halted and turned to face her so quickly, she collided with his chest and her breath caught in her throat.
“I’m not that man anymore,” his voice was nearly a growl, disgust laced in his features as he looked down at her.
But as soon as she recognized it, he became expressionless again, backing away. Falling back into step beside him, they continued to walk, a bit faster than they had been before. She followed him, at this point convinced that she might get lost without his guidance, but a little startled by his sudden change in behavior.
“What do you think of Riga?” he asked her as they cut through an alleyway. His voice held none of the venom that it had a few moments ago, so she wondered if she’d just hit a sore nerve.
“It’s beautiful,” she answered, admiring the old brick buildings and fine architecture. “But I think I haven’t had much of a chance to appreciate it.”
“Have you been thinking about me?”
They ducked under an alcove, and she realized he’d carefully led her off the crowded streets. It was much quieter here. She suddenly didn’t feel as protected as she had been with him in the open. The temperature in the shaded space was much lower than expected. And he was standing over her, waiting for some response she didn’t know if she could give.
“I haven’t forgotten about last night, liebling,” he continued.
Of course she had been thinking of him. Nearly nonstop. What they’d shared, what it meant. She hadn’t been able to sleep until she relieved herself, fingers rubbing her clit and delving into her warmth, whimpering his name when she finally came. Still, it had done little to quell the ache inside her.
It was a horrible thing, she’d decided. Objectively horrible, and unprofessional. There was the consideration of accessibility. What did he see in her beyond a means to an end? Was she really going to throw everything she’d worked for away to a man who was going to use her to scratch an itch?
Too much was at stake, Sam and Bucky’s trust, her reputation, her job, and she couldn’t allow it to go on.
But oh, how much she wanted it to.
“Yesterday was nice,” she straightened up, holding her own. “I won’t lie to you.”
The corner of his mouth tugged up slightly in a self-satisfied smirk.
“But I’m not foolish,” she continued. “Coming on to the first woman you see after you get out of jail? Seems pretty convenient.”
At first, the Baron tilted his head to the side, his brows pulled together at her words. But after a moment, the smile returned, and he chuckled. “Is that what you think this is about?”
“Don’t insult me, Helmut,” she said sternly, trying her best not to feel embarrassed. She was only being honest.
“Are you always so severe to yourself?” he asked, tutting lightly.
It would have been better to say nothing. Why give him anything at all?
She didn’t answer his question, just backed away from him and began walking in no particular direction, wanting only to increase the space between them and regain her common sense. That was impossible however, as she was jolted backwards before she even knew what was happening, a firm hand on her upper arm, and she was chest to chest with Zemo once more.
“We were in Madripoor together. I could’ve had my way with many women there if I wanted. But I didn’t.”
“Please-” she rolled her eyes.
“If all I wanted to do was fuck someone, I could have done it by now,” he stalked forward, the air pressure around them dropping, weighed by the tension hanging thick between them. “But that’s not what I want. I want you.”
His words, spoken in a soft, low purr rattled away every bit of resolve she had left in her. Some last ditch effort found her stepping backwards, but her body met the brick wall behind them and she realized he had her cornered.
In more ways than one, she thought.
Taking in a shaky breath, she looked up at his eyes, clouded with lust. “I know you want me,” he said, not a shred of doubt in his voice. But why should there have been? He was right.
Her eyes darted around, like someone or something around them was going to jump out and save her from herself. It didn’t go unnoticed. “There’s no need to be scared, liebling. I feel it, too.”
With that, he closed the gap between their lips. He tasted sweet, like the candies he’d been eating back at his flat. Turkish delight. She was drowning in him again, his scent, his touch, everything about him enveloped and beguiled her. Her shirt had bunched up slightly somewhere along their walk and his gloved hands explored the exposed skin, leaving goosebumps in their wake.
She surrendered, letting him tease open her mouth and claim her wholly. It was still bad, she knew. But there wasn’t any last bit of self-control left in her.
The layers of clothing between them didn’t allow for the same proximity she’d had to him the evening before. Groaning in delight and frustration, she reached up to tangle and rake her fingers through his hair, as his fingers curled around the top of her sweater, revealing the sensitive skin of her neck.
“Don’t hide this,” his lips left hers as his eyes focused on the stamp of affection he’d left behind the day before. “Let them see.”
“You know I can’t,” she responded, sheepishly pulling it back into place. Studying her with amiable consideration, his hand rose to brush tenderly across her cheekbone.
“I thought you’d come to me last night,” she confessed, drawing away slightly, shocked by her own admission. But right now, she didn’t feel the need to put up as much of a facade. He looked positively virile; panting, his cheeks flushed and hair mussed, pupils blown out as he focused on her. To know she was the cause of his current state of disarray gave her an immense amount of satisfaction. A buried, salacious part of her wondered what else she could do to make him look even more unkempt.
“I considered it,” he said, sounding almost timid. “But I want to do this right.” He leaned in, pressed a kiss beneath her ear. “In private, so no one can disturb us,” he continued, lips moving down her neck. “We can take our time, you can be as loud as you’d like.”
The mental image he was currently painting for her was doing very little to strengthen her convictions, whatever those had been. The thought of her legs wrapped around his torso, naked bodies pressed together sent a bolt of electricity through the pit of her stomach, radiating outwards. She wanted his lips on every inch of her skin. Aching at the possibility, the present tease of his teeth nibbling on her collarbone wasn’t helping.
“You know we can’t,” she didn’t try to stop the thought as it came out of her mouth.
“What is there to lose?”
Everything, she thought, but didn’t answer. She couldn’t really, as his gloved hand was trailing slowly under her jacket and sweater, against her bare skin, and cupping her breast through her bra. Whimpering, she couldn’t control the way her body arched against his.
Hooking her knee on his hip, she let him press forward, feeling the warmth of his excitement through his trousers and her jeans. He ground against her once, teasingly, and she moaned softly into his mouth.
He was the one to pull away, and she was thankful he did. “Think about it, liebling,” he said softly, pressing a tender kiss to her temple. “Du hast die Kontrolle.”
“We can’t,” she answered again, but even she didn’t believe herself. Raking her hands through her hair and adjusting her rumpled sweater, she straightened up. “We have a job to do.”
Brushing past him out of the alcove, each step she took away from him gave her the self control she desperately needed. She glanced over her shoulder to see him reluctantly trudging behind. At this point, she wasn’t foolish. There were only two ways this could end.

a partridge in a pear tree -> a jersey under the tree | b. boeser
Tumblr media
a/n: happy december 1st everyone and welcome to the first day of 12 days of christmas! as a reminder here is the whole list. these will be posted every other day through christmas eve. this one is where this whole thing started, a gift for my bestie bae, the apple to my peanut butter forever, @brockadoodles. i hope you like it most of all!
word count: 3,740
wine drink pairing recommendation: hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows
warnings: pregnancy. some seriously wholesome content.
You took a deep breath and pulled the sleeves of your sweater over your hands, then pushed them back up again when you started pulling at the threads at the edge. Your sweater didn’t deserve to take the brunt of your stress in that moment. You bounced your foot up and down nervously instead as you waited what had to have been the longest three, absolutely agonizing minutes of your life. When the timer on your phone went off, you lurched forward to grab it, turning it off, as your other hand reached for the small, plastic test. You took a deep, centering breath before glancing down at the word in the small window.
Pregnant.
You were actually pregnant. You knew everything had felt wrong for a few weeks now, food didn't taste the same or sit right, you were absolutely exhausted all of the time, and you had snapped at Brock a time or two for well-meaning actions. You knew something was wrong, but your mom had been the one to have to tell you to take a test before going to the doctor’s. You had told her it wasn’t possible; you and Brock were doing the opposite of trying since you had only gotten married over the summer. You agreed to wait. That single word, which came with a lifetime behind it, wasn’t in the plan for another few years, but it was here now and it would be your reality in seven short months.
How were you going to tell Brock?
You knew he would be overwhelmed, his eyes glazing over as the timeline of his life abruptly shifted forward several years, yanking him right along with it. You knew Brock though; you wouldn’t have married him if you didn’t know him as well as you did. You knew that glazed over look would give way into a smile so broad it practically broke across his face. The waiting a few years, the shattered plan, was mostly you with a dash of Brock trying to make you happy. If you suddenly changed your mind and wanted to try for a baby tomorrow, unnecessary now, he would’ve dragged you to bed that instant. In full truth, your husband had baby fever as soon as he slid the wedding band onto your finger, probably before that really. Brock was going to be over the moon. You didn’t have any doubts about it, you really just needed to get yourself on board with this more than anything, this new timeline.
You grabbed your phone, fingers hovering over Brock’s name in your contacts. You debated calling him then, letting the nervous words spill out of your mouth, letting him wash away your concerns with words of love and affirmation. But you knew Brock. You knew Brock wanted the cliché, cute surprise. His scavenger hunt of a proposal set the standard for how big news was delivered, a cliché bang of sorts. You were more of a whimper than a bang sort of person, but you could lean into the cliché of it all for him.
Instead of calling him, you dropped your phone into your purse and grabbed your keys, needing to make a last minute trip in order to make this happen before he got home later that day from his road trip for the Christmas break. Two stores and one confused holiday worker later, you had everything you needed for your last minute announcement, letting the excitement of the anticipation of seeing Brock’s happiness calm your nerves in place of him doing it in only the way he knew how. Slowly but surely, as you carefully wrapped everything up, you could feel yourself getting more excited, hands shaking a little as you wrapped. A family with Brock was always the real plan; everything else was secondary, including the timing of it all.
You and Brock had found each other by chance, a complete accident four years prior to the day actually. A department store the day before Christmas was a terrible place to be, but it was the only place in your area that said they had the last gift you needed before you could head off to spend Christmas with your family. You spotted it in the store, the last one on the shelf, and made a beeline for it. As your hand reached for it, a large hand reached for the item as well, grabbed onto it the same time you did. You both recoiled, and turned to face each other.
You would have been furious with him if it wasn’t for the everything about him when you saw him. Blond hair peeking out from a gray beanie on his head, blue eyes that reminded you of the sky the morning after a snowstorm, bright and beautiful, and a small baby in his arms who was already reaching out for your hair, even though he didn’t know you at all.
“Whoa, Easty, don’t grab the pretty girl’s hair,” he laughed as he intercepted the baby’s hand on its way to fist into your hair. “Sorry about Easton. His parents are trying to teach him not to grab, but you can see it’s not going well.”
He readjusted the baby in his arms, hoisting him up a little higher, before continuing, “I’m Brock, by the way, and this is my nephew, Easton.”
“Um, hi,” you mumbled out, tucking your hair behind your ear as a blush rose to your cheeks as you added your name at the end of your half statement. You had a warmer smile for Easton though. Brock, a terrible name for a cute boy who liked babies to boot, who on the other hand was trying to take your gift that you needed. He was on the naughty list for sure. “Hi there, Easton.”
“I see we like Easton best,” Brock laughed, picking up on the stark difference in the tones you used. “Look, you want that, right?”
Brock pointed up toward the shelf where the gift you desperately needed sat, taunting you, daring you to reach out and grab it. You nodded in response to Brock, unsure where he could possibly be going with this.
“How about I let you have that if you’ll grab a drink with me?” Brock asked you, completely stunning you in the middle of a department store in the middle of the holiday season, a lawless place where one should always expect the unexpected.
“I’m sorry?” you laughed, a look of disbelief clear on your face.
Brock let a lazy smile roll across his face, “I get a drink with a pretty girl for the price of a Christmas gift for one of my cousins who would probably break it the day after I give it to him? Yeah, I’m coming out on top here, if you say yes.”
You had said yes and the rest was pretty much history, an accidental meeting led to all of this, so maybe the accidental baby you were carrying just in time for Christmas was just the right thing for the two of you, a nod to your past in the setting up of your future. Just as you finished tying the bow around the box, the front door jingled, the sound instantly followed by barking from Milo and Coolie, and then followed by cooing from your husband at the pups.
“Hey bud, hey bud. Yeah, Dad missed ya too,” he managed to get out as he was being practically tackled by the pups, like they did whenever he came home.
You slid the surprise gift under the tree, tucking it in the back, before Brock could notice you were adding one more gift after you said you were done a few days ago. You lifted yourself off the floor, tucking the wrapping paper under the couch to hide it from Brock, as he rounded the corner into the living room. Brock looked at you like he always did, like you were his entire world, like you were his first breath of fresh air he’d had in years, like you were the living embodiment of a Christmas miracle. He shuffled across the floor to wrap his arms around your waist, and you gasped as he lifted you up. He laughed, but you were just panicking that maybe your stomach wasn’t as flat as you thought it was and he was going to find out about the biggest surprise he was ever going to get a little earlier than you wanted.
“Hey, baby,” he breathed out as he set you back down, tilting his head down in one another motion to capture your lips in a soft kiss.
“Hey, handsome,” you smiled as you pulled away from his kiss, a hand threading into the long strands of hair at the back of his neck.
Brock smiled down at you, and gave you another quick kiss before saying, “How were the last couple days? Were the pups good for you? Do I need to be bad cop with them?”
You laughed and shook your head softly, “Brock Boeser, we both know you’re not capable of being the bad cop with anyone, let alone Milo and Coolie.”
Brock was laughing as he kissed your forehead, “Sorry you’re going to have to be the bad guy all the time when we have kids. Whenever that is, no pressure.”
Your heart picked up in your chest and your breath caught in your throat. You tucked your face in his neck to try and hide the expression on your face, letting the ease with which Brock brought up kids calm you. He wanted this baby, even if he didn’t know they existed yet. Your nerves that maybe he wouldn’t want this baby were just misplaced anxiety coming from your own feelings about becoming a parent yourself; they weren’t about him. Brock was here, again, being your perfect partner, comforting you and assuring you, even though he had no idea he was actually doing anything at all.
Sliding into bed next to him later that night, his heavy arm slung over your stomach made you as nervous as when he picked you up earlier, even though nothing had changed since that afternoon other than everything that had already changed since the morning. Brock kissed your shoulder and relaxed into his pillow, letting his eyes flutter closed. He was out less than a few minutes after closing his eyes, as per usual. Your husband was a creature of habit, and you were about to throw the most welcome wrench into his routines that you ever could. Your nerves had shifted into ones of excitement, of wanting a beautiful thing to happen on the morning of Brock’s favorite holiday. You wanted to see him open that gift. You wanted to see the moment he realized everything was changing, the moment he realized he was going to be a father, the one thing he’d wanted for so long, under the lights of the Christmas tree, and the dawn of a winter Vancouver morning in late December.
All you had to do to get to that moment was sleep, but it was the one thing that eluded you most of the night. The combination of excitement, nerves, and the fact that this baby seemed to have the goal of making you incredibly nauseous all of the time, all working in tandem to rob you of sleep. You tossed and turned most of the night, and slept terribly when you did manage to sleep, but it was Christmas after all Brock didn’t feel any shame in waking you up when he normally got up. He woke you up with a soft kiss to your shoulder, and a comforting arm around your waist.
“Merry Christmas, baby,” he mumbled softly against your shoulder when you stirred.
“Merry Christmas, husband,” you breathed out and you felt Brock smile against your shoulder. He loved when you called him by his favorite title, his words not yours. “What time is this?”
Brock laughed lightly against your skin, “Early,” which was what he said when it was before seven thirty in the morning whenever you asked, “but it’s Christmas early, so it’s appropriate today.”
You groaned, making him laugh deeper in response, “Still not sure how I married an early bird?”
“But you love meeeee,” he muttered against your skin, voice soft with an edge of youth that perfectly fit the holiday, his days old stubble scratching across your skin as he talked. “And I love you so much.”
“I do love you,” you smiled as you spoke. “It’s the only reason I can tolerate you waking up this early on days that aren’t Christmas.”
“Well, today is Christmas, so we’re putting our matching pajamas on. I’ve got Milo if you take Coolie, and we’re opening some presents, baby!”
One torn set of dog antlers, one discarded set, two embarrassing adult pajama sets Brock loved so much, and two cups of coffee since neither of you could function without it, later, and you and Brock were sat by the Christmas tree together, legs crossed, each with your first present for each other in yours laps. You had an order in mind for Brock’s gifts, saving the last addition, the announcement of your new addition, for last. Brock usually just grabbed whatever was closest to him with your name on it and handed it to you.
“Sorry I still can’t wrap things,” was how he handed you the first one, snagging the box with his name on it off your lap in one smooth motion.
“Wouldn’t be from you if it wasn’t wrapped like you ran over it with your car first,” you joked.
“Ho, ho, ho,” he rolled his eyes. “So kind of you, wifey.”
“I’ve got to keep you honest.”
You smiled brightly at him, earning yourself a quick peck on your lips before he ripped into your impeccably wrapped present, sending bits of paper and ribbon everywhere. You eyed Milo carefully as he started ripping up some of the paper Brock had torn off the box, but he wasn’t creating more of a mess than Brock was making himself, so you let it slide under a watchful eye. Brock loved his first gift, and his second, and his third. You cried at the first, and laughed at your second, and your entire chest felt warm with your third thinking that Brock Boeser was made for Christmas. He was warm and unfailingly kind and hopeful in the face of absolute hopelessness. You didn’t really believe in the idea of the magic of Christmas, chocking it all up to people making the holidays feel special simply because they wished for them to be special, but you believed that sometimes people were greater than the sum of their parts, of even their experiences, of their very atoms. There was something else to Brock Boeser, something so indescribably wonderful, that had drawn you to him in the first place, and that reminded you of what people said was the magic of Christmas. It was pure and good and so astoundingly bright that you thought maybe Brock Boeser was made of stardust from better stars than anyone else you’d ever known and maybe Christmas was made for Brock Boeser instead.
You were just hoping that your little surprise was going to make this Christmas his best one yet, rather than derail Brock’s favorite holiday and every repetition of this holiday after.
“Okay, I know we said three gifts,” and Brock was already groaning as you reached for the small box you hid behind Coolie and Milo’s gifts at the back of the tree, “but I had to get this one. It’s technically not really for you actually, but it’s kind of for you.”
Brock gave you a curious look, eyebrows furrowing down and lips pursing, but you waved him off and shoved the pristinely wrapped box into his hands. You grabbed your phone and opened up your camera, knowing if you didn’t film this moment and it was as good as you hoped it would be, you would regret it for the rest of your life. If it wasn’t as good as you hoped, well, you could always delete it.
“Oh, we’re filming me open a present that’s only sort of for me?” Brock laughed as he asked the question and you just shrugged in response and waved him on. “Okay then, weirdo wifey.”
You rolled your eyes as he opened up his last present. Your breath caught in your throat as he popped open the tape keeping the lid on the box down. Your eyes bounced back and forth between his left hand and his right as he slowly pulled at the tissue paper, going painstakingly slowly for the sake of the camera. You groaned at his actions and whined his name, which just made him laugh, but at least he finally picked up the pace. You watched with your breath held and your body tense as his soft blue eyes looked over the contents of the gift. His brows furrowed together in confusion as his shaking hands picked up a small Canucks jersey, an incredibly small Canucks jersey that wouldn’t fit anyone in your household with your shared last name on the back.
“Baby, what is this?” Brock asked you, his voice tense, his emotions screaming behind the wall  he’d haphazardly built to try and keep the hopefulness out of it, but it was seeping in through the cracks in streams.
You took a deep breath, your first one since he’d started opening the present, and whispered, “I’m pregnant, Brock. We’re having a baby.”
Brock’s bottom lip quivered as he looked at the small jersey in his shaking hands. His brows softened and his chest started to heave as his breathing picked up.
“You’re serious, right?” he managed to get out. “You’re actually pregnant? We’re actually having a baby?”
He lost his voice a bit at the end, pitch going so high that he thought you didn’t even understand him, but you were listening and watching every single facet of him right now to miss what he said. You nodded slowly, letting out an unsteady breath as you did. He wasn’t angry, not that Brock had ever been angry with you even once in all the time you knew him. He was far too patient and by the time his patience wore thin, he loved you too much to ever be angry with you. But you couldn’t place how he was feeling, the emotions flashing over his face in the faint light of the Christmas tree and the Vancouver sunrise too complicated and changing too quickly for you to understand.
You understood when Brock dropped the jersey and reached for you. It wasn’t really a reach. It was a tackle, your back ending up flat on the rug with Brock hovering over you.
“We’re having a baby!”
Brock’s voice shot up several octaves and decibel levels when he shouted. A wide, gorgeous smile broke out across his face, one so true and joyful you’d only seen it a handful of times before; when you agreed to be his girlfriend, when you agreed to marry him, and when he saw you walk down the aisle. But here it was again, his “overwhelmed to the point of absolute elation” smile. And with the Christmas lights making a halo of light twinkle around his head from your position on the floor, Brock looked like every bit of the angel he was to you.
“A baby, baby,” he breathed out as he slowly sat back on his heels, pulling you up with him, keeping your faces close. “We’re having a baby, baby.”
You nodded as his hand reached out to cup your face, “We’re having a baby, Brock.”
“Well, you’re having a baby,” he smiled at you softly as his thumb ran over your lips. “I’m here for physical, moral, and emotional support.”
“Thanks for acknowledging that I’m doing all of the heavy lifting here,” you laughed with a teasing roll of your eyes.
“Are you happy?” His question was so soft, so hesitant, you always didn’t catch it. “I know you didn’t want this for another couple of years and I just, I’m thrilled, I’m over the moon and the stars and the whole freaking universe that we’re having a baby, but are you happy?”
Hearing Brock’s words, feeling the steadiness of his hand on your cheek, and the excitement absolutely radiating off him, you knew you were happy. The prospect of becoming a parent was terrifying, especially when you hadn’t been trying to become one, but knowing Brock Boeser, the man you loved more than anyone else you had ever met, the man that outshone all the lights on the tree and the stars in the sky, the man that was made of brighter stardust than anyone else, the man that Christmas could only hope to be as magical as, was your co-parent. And what was there to worry about after that?
“I’m so happy,” you told him, your voice shaking as tears began to fill your eyes. “I’m so, so happy.”
Brock nodded as his eyes matched yours, glassy and threatening to overflow with tears as he pressed a soft kiss to your forehead. He slowly pulled back and lowered himself down, bending over until his face was in front of your stomach. Brock let out a long, slow breath before reaching out a hand to place gently on your still flat stomach.
“Hi, little one. It’s me, Daddy.” Brock’s voice cracked at the last word that left his lips and your first tears spilled over. “Your momma and I are so happy and so excited you’re on your way and we can’t wait to meet you. Thank you for showing yourself for Christmas. You’re the best gift I’ve ever received in my entire life. Can’t wait for next Christmas already, even though this one isn’t over, because you’ll be sharing it with us then. We love you so much, little one.”
The tears were flowing freely as Brock looked back up at you. There was so much to do, so much to plan, so much to figure out, but right now it was just you and Brock and your little Christmas surprise, the best gift you had ever received either.
“Merry Christmas, Brock.”
“Merry Christmas, baby, and Merry Christmas, baby.”

The snow couldn’t seem to stop falling. It had already been snowing for the past few days, but the weather didn’t change. It stayed the same and the snow piled on and on. You quite liked this kind of weather, somehow seeing people wrapped up in their scarfes with beanies dragged far over their ears made you feel warm - despite the cold weather.  Today was your day off work, so you had a wonderful lazy morning with a bath and eating breakfast while watching TV. The only thing you could think of that would make this better was if Shoto would be here. He was, unlike you, out doing work. You remember teasing him lightly about it yesterday, that you got to spend the day at home while he had to be working out in the snow. In reality you worried that he’d become sick or catch a cold, even though you knew he stayed safe.  Either way, you decided to treat yourself today with some shopping. It had been so long since you could actually go out to shop, so despite the cold you wanted to go outside.
You took the train to the mall and walked through the stores. The only thing you were planning on buying was a sweater, considering that you had been frequently stealing more and more of Shoto’s hoodies so you should probably get some of your own. When you saw the little jewlery shop you stopped dead in your tracks. Knowing that your wallet would start screaming if you walked in there you decided to keep it to window shopping. Earrnings, necklaces, bracelets... but most importantly rings. The memory of your mom straight up asking Shoto when he was planning on proposing came to mind. A smile grazed your lips, he had been so flustered that he choked on whatever he was eating. You had been trying to tell your mom off when he put a hand on your thigh and lightly brushed his thumb across your skin there. “No, it’s fine.. we’ll see in the future.”, he had said and had given your mom a soft smile. If it weren’t for the fact that people were around you would’ve started giggling, but you held yourself back and kept glancing over the rings. One in particular caught your eye, a simple silver one with a smaller diamond. You knew you couldn’t wear a lot of jewlery for your line of work so it seemed so perfect. For the sake of the memory that your brain decided to pull out from the dust, you took a picture of it and sent it to Shoto. -So... when’s it happening? :P You snickered to yourself and started walking again but your phone buzzed quicker than you expected. -You’re starting to sound like your mom A laugh escaped your lips at the message. However, it did surprise you that he could be texting you back so quickly since he was at work. -I was just joking.. aren’t you supposed to be working right now? The text bubble that indicated that he was typing appeared immediately. -Not on patrol today and I just finished my paperwork. I’m about to go into a meeting though -Is that a warning or a challenge? -Y/N. Do. Not. Yet another laughed made it’s way up your throat and you put your phone away again. He usually sounded cold over text, but you could always see right through it. Maybe that’s what four years spent together does to you.
The hours passed by as you walked around in the mall. It was actually quite pleasant, as not many people were there considering the fact that it was a weekday. As you were trying on clothing in yet another store you found a sweater that you really liked. It was an oversized black sweater that went down you your mid thigh and the collar was a bit wider, almost creating an off the shoulder look. You smiled at yourself in the mirror. Under the sweater you had the black bralette you had tried on moments before. Both of the items fit you perfectly and together it created a very cute look. Without thinking you sent a picture to Shoto, asking him if you should buy it. Thinking he probably had his phone off during the meeting, you put your phone down and changed back to your clothes. When you had just finished up putting your pants back on you looked at you phone again to see Shoto’s messages... you forgot his messages are connected to his laptop as well. -Y/N I told you I was in a meeting! -I mean you look very pretty, I like the sweater.. but if you’re going to send me pictures while I’m at work please put pants on. This was not a funny situation, is what you tried to tell yourself... but that didn’t stop you from smiling at the thought of his ears going red in the meeting room. -Sorry, I forgot! I’ll make it up to you by making you soba, okay? It took a while for him to answer so you went out of the dressing room and put away the things you weren’t going to buy. -... fine. I’ll be home after this meeting, so maybe around 5. -See you then ;) Were you being cheeky? Yes, but it wasn’t anything that he hadn’t dealt with before.
After making your purchase you looked at your phone and saw that the clock was nearing 4:45 pm, this meaning that it was time for you to go back home. You went over to the trainstation only to see that the train you were taking home was delayed by 20 minutes due to the snow. With a sigh you sat down on the nearest bench and took out your phone. Because of the 20 minutes it would take to arrive at your home station and the 5 minute walk home, you’d be home in about 50 minutes. Knowing Shoto, he’d probably already be home by now as he most likely managed to cut the meeting short - what was the meaning of staying longer when you had already gotten to the point? Even so, you decided to not call him just yet in case he actually still was in the meeting.
Time passed and as soon as the clock struck 5:00 pm you got a call. “Hey, are you okay? I’ve been waiting for a few and you’re still not home...”, Shoto’s voice was slightly distorted over the line due to your bad connection but you were still relieved to hear his voice. “The train got delayed, can you believe it?”, you sighed heavily. “Yes I can actually, it’s been snowing all day.”, he said calmly, “Do you need me to pick you up? I can be there in 10 minutes.” “No it’s fine, the train should be here in 5 and then I’ll be at the station in just 20 minutes.”, you stood up and looked by the track for the train. “Are you sure? The train’s probably gonna be packed.” “It’s fine, I have headphones with me so I won’t even notice.”, you smiled at his tries to come get you, “Besides I can practically see the train by now.” “Okay... then I’ll meet you at the station.”, he answered, as if it was nothing. “No, baby, you don’t have to do that. You’ve been at work all day just rest please?”, you reasoned. “I’ll see you in 20 minutes, sweetheart.”, he hung up on you. You were taken aback by the usage of the nickname, he barely ever called you by petnames. Before you could think to much of it the train arrived and you put in your earbuds and got on quickly to find a good seat.
The train wasn’t as packed as Shoto had thought. Though there was a crying child in your cart. The mother who frantically tried to calm her baby down gave you an apologetic smile. You made sure to look friendly back at her to make sure she understood that you didn’t mind. The poor woman was trying to keep her child from screaming while also balancing groceries and a stroller at the same time.  “Do you need any help?”, you asked and took out your earbuds. “Please.”, the woman gave you a relieved look. You took her grocery bags and balanced them against some empty seats. Then you took the stroller from her hands so that she could properly care for her baby. “He’s just a bit hungry...”, she said and took out a bottle to give to the young boy. “... I’ve never understood how parents always know what their children want like that.”, you said mostly to yourself but the woman answered anyways. “I guess it’s an instinct.”, she said with a warm smile, “Thank you for your help. My husband’s working late so he couldn’t take care of the groceries tonight.” “Ah... I understand.”, you nodded. “Are you married?”, she asked and when she saw your shocked face she quickly apologized, “Sorry I didn’t mean to pry, I was just trying to make small talk.” “It’s alright.”, you stifled a laugh, “I’m actually not married... not yet at least, my mom’s been pressuring my boyfriend for a while now so who knows.”, you joked. “Oh, you have a boyfriend. Have you two been together for long?”, her demeanor had changed back to the kind and warm one from before. “A few years, actually.”, you nodded, “He’s a very sweet guy and-... that’s him actually.” Your phone started buzzing and Shoto’s caller-ID flashed up on the screen. His picture that you had chosen was of him holding a puppy husky that you had been thinking of adopting. Sadly, you ended up not doing that since you were both to busy to take care of a dog - let alone a puppy. You excused yourself to the woman next to you and answered. “Hi, babe, is everything okay?”, you asked. “Yeah, I just wanted to say that I’m by the station. Was the train packed?”, he spoke softly, which made it clear for you that he was in fact outside. “Not at all actually, it’s quite roomy. I told you that you didn’t have to wait for me though...”, you sighed. “I wanted to. It’s fine.”, he said and then added in a whisper, “Then I get to see you sooner.” Your face flushed up in all shades of pink as he said that. He was never usually this affectionate, but you couldn’t deny that you absolutely loved it. “You’re cute, Shoto.”, you chuckled. “Don’t laugh at me.”, you heard him huff slightly. “Sorry, sorry.”, you smiled, “I’ll be by the station in a few minutes if I’m lucky, okay? Thank you for waiting for me.” “No problem... see you soon.”, he said and hung up again. When you turned back to the woman sitting beside her you could tell she was holding back her excitement. “That was the sweetest conversation I’ve ever heard. That sounded like it was straight out of a story!”, she realized what she said and quickly apologized again, “Sorry! I didn’t mean to eavesdrop!” “It’s no problem, we all do it sometimes.”, you tried to control the blush that was creeping across your face but it was near impossible. “I bet he’ll propose to you soon.”, she said and looked back at her baby, “I hope he does.” “Thank you.”, you smiled and looked down at the baby, who was staring back up at you. You waved at the child and he let out a gurgling laugh that had your heart melting. Today was certainly a special day.
You and the woman just happened to get off by the same stop so you helped her get her grocery bags out of the cart. When you saw Shoto standing by himself you waved and called his name. He turned to you and smiled softly, almost longlingly. “He’s handsome too... wow, you’re lucky.”, she smiled to you, “Thank you for the help, miss.” “No problem!”, you smiled back and watch her walk away before turning your attention to the man walking towards you. “I haven’t seen you all day.”, he embraced you with a sigh. Hugs were normal for the two of you, but absolutely not in public. Your body stiffened in shock before settling in his arms and hugging him back. Eventually he let go of you and took a step back. “Who was that woman? Do I know her?”, he asked. “No, I just met her on the train. Let’s get home, it’s freezing out here!”, you said and took his arm in yours.
The two of you walked in silence, as you usually did, but there was one thing that was running around in your mind. “Do you ever think of having children?”, you asked out of the blue, your breath forming white clouds in the cold air. Shoto stopped in his tracks and looked at you. It wasn’t until then you had realized what you had said, maybe not directly but the question was floating around your heads. “Children, huh?”, Shoto took a deep breath. You peered up at him through your eyelashes, afraid that he’d look disgusted or even scared. He didn’t. His mind was somewhere else, you could tell by the far away look in his eyes. Shoto’s face was dusted pink but, just like yours, you couldn’t tell if it was because he was flustered or cold. “I’ve never thought about it, actually.”, he looked at you which made you look away, “Not against the thought of it though. Let’s talk it through some other time.” He said it so casually. As if this was obvious and not a huge step in a relationship. Then he just kept walking. If it wasn’t for your arm that was still wrapped around his, you would’ve forgotten to walk along with him.  “Don’t be embarrased about it, please.”, he said suddenly, “It’s good to bring up these things.” “I just thought about it... you know... the woman on the train and everything...”, you muttered. “Sweetheart.”, there was the nickname again, “I told you not to be embarrased about it.” After a few years you’d think he wouldn’t be able to make you weak in the knees anymore. That was wrong. You hummed in response to what he said and leaned your head against his shoulder. There was an urge in you to feel a sudden intimacy between the two of you and that was the first thing that came to mind. “Are you cold?”, he asked. “Not extremely...”, you looked up at the clear sky, “... maybe it’s not the best time for cold soba though.” “It’s always a good time for cold soba.”, he answered, completely serious but you still laughed. You laughed because it sounded like him. You laughed because it would ease the excitement stuck in your stomach from what he had said before. You laughed because at that moment you felt so incredibly wonderful - and who wouldn’t laugh at that?
When you got home you made yourself a cup of tea while Shoto stuck to heating up by the radiator. “Are you sure you still want cold soba? We could always make warm soba.”, you suggested as you poured the hot water into your cup. “I say we make cold soba.”, Shoto shrugged as he kept his hands on the warm radiator. His nose was still red from the cold. “Then we make cold soba.”, you nodded.
After eating and cleaning up you sat down on the couch and turned on the TV. Since you usually sat with a bit of space in between the two of you, you did so. However, this time Shoto scooched closer to you and put your head on his shoulder, only to then wrap his arm around your shoulders. “Is this okay?”, he asked quietly to not disturb the show playing. You could care less about the show, your heart was beating loud enough for you to not even hear it. No words would come out of your mouth so you hummed as an answer to his question. He had been acting very lovingly the entire night, something that he didn’t always do.  “Are you okay, Shoto?”, you asked suddenly, “Did something happen at work?” “Why do you ask?” “You just seem... more cuddly?”, you looked up at him, catching him staring but he didn’t look away. “I just missed you then I guess.”, he said, “... and you sent me that picture and that wasn’t very fair.” He looked away and now he couldn’t blame the cold on his reddened face. That’s how you remembered your sweater that you had bought. “Right the sweater!”, you exclaimed, “Can I show you?” “Sure.”, he said and watched you get up, “You seem very excited about this sweater.” “Yes! And you should be too, because now I won’t be stealing yours anymore!”, you took your bag and walked over to the bathroom. “But I like it when you wear my clothes...” “Then...I won’t be stealing your clothes as often anymore!”, you smiled before closing the bathroom door behind you.
You walked out of the bathroom, dressed just like you were in the picture, and walked up to him. He looked over at you, looked you up and down, and then stood up. “What do you think?”, you smiled as he pulled you closer by your waist so that you could wrap your arms around his neck. “I like it more when you wear my clothes... but this is also very nice.”, he leaned down and kissed you quick, “Let’s go have that talk about having children...”, he whispered and started guiding you to the bedroom.

@chaoticgirl04 requested: Almost finished! Can I get a Regulus Black Blurb with the prompt 10 (general), please? Thank you
10 - “You want to play pretend? Well two can play at that game.” from this prompt list
A/N: my dumbass accidentally deleted the ask
Games
Whether magical or muggle, boys were always the same. Shielded feelings to appear ‘strong’ with questionable motives that you felt you would never understand. It was a miracle your relationship had lasted as long as it did before Regulus started acted different.
At first you brushed it off as stress from classes which was understandable until Christmas break started nearing and he was still not talking to you.
Walking to the Great Hall for study group one morning, you sat down beisde Regulus and smiled at him only for it to fall to a frown as he got up and left. You watched as walked to his group of Slytherin boys and talked to them, completely disregarding the fact that he had just ignored you.
“You want to play pretend? Well two can play at that game.” You mumbled as you glared daggers at the back of his head before grabbing your quill to begin your work. Your plan wouldn’t be able to properly begin until a few more days anyways.
Your anniversary. The date that marked 8 months of dating Regulus. That was the date you were waiting for. Usually, you would have surprised him with love notes leading up to the date but this time you did nothing. He would also usually wake up to some sort of decoration in his room but today he woke up to his normal dorm.
The rest of the day was even more odd for him. You were usually clinging onto his arm but today, you were nowhere to be seen.
It wasn’t until late at night, way past curfew, that he finally saw you. A lazy smile was etched on your face as you walked in through the portrait door. You didn’t even seem to notice him as you walked right past him towards the stairs.
“(Y/N)!” He called out causing you to stop in your tracks. When you turned around to face him your smile was now gone and replaced by an annoyed expression. “Where were you today? It was our anniversary.”
“Oh so you do remember me.” You scoffed causing him to arch an eyebrow at you.
What on earth did you mean by that?
“What?”
“Well for the past few days or so you’ve been completely ignoring my presence. Figured you would’ve forgot our anniversary as well.”
“(Y/N) I didn’t mean to-”
“NO!” You cut him off loudly. The change in your tone caused him to jump. “You don’t get to say that when you’ve been hurting me lately. You don’t have the right.”
Regulus fell silent. He knew he was in the wrong but how was he supposed to tell you that he was being recruited for the Death Eaters agaisnt his will? Howl as he supposed to tell his muggleborn girlfriend that he was joining  a group that despised her kind. He figured that by maybe distancing himself he’d be able to think of how to tell you but perhaps he didn’t properly think it through. Now, as you stood before him with eyes filled with anger, he could only fear the worst and wait for it to come.
“We’re over. Here,” You said as you pulled out something from your coat jacket, it was a stack of letters. “I would’ve given them to you today if you weren’t being such a git.”
The letters were thrown at his feet before you stomped up the stairs. He stared down at them sadly as tears fell down his face and up in the girls dorm, hot tears were falling down your face as well.
“I’m sorry.” You both mumbled out loud, not knowing that the other was also sorry for what they’ve done as well.

“And that’s what I call a perfect plan,” Emily threw her arms up in the air excitedly, thankfully not getting the attention of anyone else in the cafe. She had just finished explaining the details of her stupid plan to make your boyfriend finally kiss you that was admittedly not so stupid after you ran through the whole thing once again in your head. What’s the worst possible outcome of her plan? Him hating you forevermore? You highly doubt that’d happen so maybe this plan was actually worth a try after all.
“Do you think this is a good idea though, I mean I don’t wanna come off as too needy or anything...” you rambled on nervously, your hands fidgeting with the hem of the beige sweater you were wearing.
“You always overthink everything,” Emily landed a firm reassuring pat on your shoulder. “Don’t worry. It’ll be completely fine. Couples kiss each other all the time! And it’s about time for that dip to do the same to you too.”
You and Jonah had been dating for quite a while now — nearly a month and a half to be exact — but you both had never kissed. His previous girlfriend had left him heavily scarred and this was your first romantic relationship with anyone, meaning that you were too inexperienced in this relationship department to know how it works, so of course both of you had agreed to take it slow. Don’t get you wrong, he did shower you with affection all the time through other methods, mainly through intimate gestures but he didn’t make a move to take it any further and you being the useless coward you were, you didn’t even dare to initiate it either even though you’d gotten comfortable enough with Jonah to the point where you do want to kiss him. Very badly.
Now, you knew that each and every relationship was different and there was nothing wrong with not choosing to express one’s love through something as absurd as kisses, but after Daniel accidentally let the fact that Jonah actually kissed his ex on their first date slip during one of your conversations with him, you started to wonder whether you were the problem. Were you not pretty enough? Not capable enough?
Your worsened insecurities didn’t go unnoticed by your best friend, which was exactly why she dragged you out to a cafe that late autumn day to offer you her so-called ‘foolproof’ plan that couldn’t go wrong.
So when winter rolled around and it was time to put up Christmas decorations around your house, maybe it was because of the indescribable Christmas magic in the air, or maybe it was because of the delightful festive cheer, you eventually decided to follow her advice and hung a mistletoe above the door. Now all there’s left was for you to greet him at the door, inconspicuously gaze at the mistletoe above you, say something along the lines of, “Wow, I wonder how that mistletoe got there!”, and then hope he’d get the hint and was ready for a cute Christmas kiss — If he did go along with the plan, that is.
Which explained why here you were right now leaning against a wall of your living room, shifting your weight from one foot to another repeatedly while biting your nails as you stare intensely at the clock, trying your best to soothe the nerves in your stomach. You had just invited him over for dinner like usual and was now waiting for his arrival anxiously like something big was about to happen although you knew very well that a kiss was hardly considered that big of a deal.
The loud chime of the doorbell that sounded moments later disrupted your train of thought, startling you a little. You hurriedly smoothed your attire and took a deep breath to calm yourself down before making your way to answer the door. You flung open the front door with a cheeky smile plastered on your face.
“Hey, ba....Corbyn?! What are you doing here?” Your voice raised a pitch in the end of your sentence from how shocked you were when you were greeted with the sight of Corbyn standing on your doorstep instead of your boyfriend whom you were expecting, your eyes widening in disbelief so much that you swore they almost popped out of your sockets.
“Just here to pass your present before I return to my hometown tomorrow for Christmas,” he answered, passing you the rectangular shaped present that was beautifully wrapped with vibrant Christmas-themed wrapping paper. Under normal circumstances, you would’ve thanked him profusely and proceed with guessing excitedly about what he might’ve gotten you (because he is an amazing gift-giver) but this time was different. You had a mistletoe dangling from the ceiling above your head and your friend was not supposed to be here now. Out of all the times he could’ve passed you your present, he had chosen today to do it. Great.
“But isn’t that Jonah’s car?” You asked, pointing at the black Audi that was parked in your driveway, completely ignoring the present that was now in your hand.
Please don’t see the mistletoe. Please don’t see the mistletoe....
“Not even a thank you?” Corbyn cocked a brow but sighed and gave you a reply to your question when he realised you were scowling at him. “Yeah, I caught a ride with him since we’re heading to the same place and he wants me to wash his car afterwards. This dumbass is too lazy to do anything by himself,” he explained and rolled his eyes.
“He’s in the car now talking on the phone with our manager, so yeah,” he added, still not noticing the mistletoe, even when he looked up a little and scratched the back of his head. Luck was definitely on your side today.
“And I bet you have tons to pack for your trip tomorrow, don’t you? So you better hurry home and get ready,” this was the best excuse you had to get him to leave before things got awkward.
“Hello? It’s me you’re talking about,” Corbyn ruffled your hair with his hand. “My stuff is all packed and ready a week ago.”
“But I guess I should get going anyway,” he said, clapping his hands. Jonah can be seen walking towards you both. “The last thing I want is to third wheel your date so see ya’ soon,” he bid his goodbye and you felt a weight lifted from your chest when he still paid no attention to the stupid plant.
But someone else sure did. You watched as a smirk grew on Jonah’s face when his gaze lifted higher to see the mistletoe above you. He was about to walk away when Jonah stopped him by putting an arm over his shoulder.
“Hey, Corbyn, don’t you think it’s extremely rude to leave a girl standing under a mistletoe without a kiss?” His simple question had you internally cursing him with a long string of profanities as embarrassment flooded your veins instantly, heat spreading from the tips of your ears to all over your face.
“Oh,” He dragged out the one syllable word when he finally took notice of the mistletoe as realization hit him. “No wonder you were acting all weird just now! Because you wanted a kiss from me but you didn’t have the guts to say it, huh?”
“No, I absolutely don’t want anything from you!” You waved your hands frantically in front of you in denial.
“Including your present? So give it back to me,” Corbyn instructed, wiggling his eyebrows playfully, in which you responded with another deep scowl.
“No, the present is mine now so you can’t take it back!” You practically screamed at him as you tightened your hands around the said object protectively. You friendly banter went on for a while more, with Corbyn teasing you and you shooting your crafty retorts back at him.
Jonah watched the exchange between you and his best friend silently with an amused smile and couldn’t help but burst into laughter when Corbyn suddenly said “you’re so annoying! It makes me want to kiss you to shut you up” in the midst of your playful bickering, making your cheeks redden even more and from the way you open and close your mouth without any words coming out of it, it was evident that you were at a loss of words too.
“Then kiss her, bro,” Jonah urged him with a nudge of his shoulder. “But not on the lips. Those are mine,” he said in a serious tone, the former cheekiness all gone. It was merely a simple sentence but little did he know butterflies erupted in your stomach just from hearing it.
“As much as I’d not want to kiss you, this is tradition and we can’t break it,” with a hopeless sigh, Corbyn scrunched up his nose in disgust but proceeded to lean in and give you a brief kiss on your cheek before pulling away almost immediately. “There, that’s settled. Hang your mistletoe elsewhere next time. The last thing I want is to fucking kiss my best friend again,” he left with a wave of his hand at you and Jonah.
“I guess it’s just the two of us now,” Jonah stated the obvious as his car pulled out of the driveway a moment later by Corbyn.
“Shut up and get lost, I don’t wanna talk to you,” you crossed your arms in front of your chest, looking away from him, still mad that he made your friend kiss you. It was nothing more than a kiss on the cheek but that didn’t mean that it wasn’t awkward.
“But why are you still standing here then? Right under the mistletoe,” he moved closer and wrapped his strong arms around your waist, kicking the door shut behind him. You were engulfed in his uplifting and clean scent of autumn that you loved so dearly, considering that autumn is your utmost favourite season of all. “Wonder how did that get here. I don’t remember seeing the mistletoe the last time I visited.”
“Fuck you, Jonah.”
“Here? Against the wall? Damn, darling, you sure are one kinky girl,” he joked, earning a playful smack from you.
“Stop,” you whined and buried your face in his chest to hide your blushing face that was already as red as a tomato or even redder at this point. He chuckled, his hand moving to cradle your face and pushed it backwards gently before tilting it upwards.
“Sometimes I forget how delicate and innocent you actually are,” he breathed and you could feel heart doing jumping jacks when your gaze met with his intense one. Your mind went totally haywire when he started to lean in, your breaths mingling with each other’s. “And you have no idea how much I’ve thought about doing this.”
When your lips connected at long last, the wonderful sensation was like nothing you had experienced before. The kiss was soft and moist and hot and breathy, not trying to win a battle but seeking union and closeness and the sharing of one breath, one sensation, one timeless and passionate moment. You yearned for more — you wanted so badly to feel so, so much more of him — so you didn’t hesitate to comply to his wish when he bit your lip lightly for permission for his tongue to slip into your mouth.
The heat rose in your cheeks as your tongues entwined, quick and electric and delicious, then firmer, more determined, more curious about the heat that lay within, seeking to chase down that elusive liquid lightning that reached through both of you. Instinctively, you grabbed fistfuls of the soft material at the front of his coat to pull him closer and deepen the kiss. He groaned when you bucked your hips against his as his grip on your waist tightened to prevent you from repeating the same action because his self-control was reaching its limit. One more time and he might not be able to restrain himself from pinning you against the wall and ripping off your clothes to devour you.
Plus, he knew that you weren’t ready for that either.
“That was amazing,” you said in awe when you finally pulled apart to catch your breath, breathless from the heated kiss-turned-makeout session with your boyfriend. “If I can get kissed like that everytime I stand under a mistletoe, I think I might go against Corbyn’s advice and hang more of those around my house.”
“You don’t need a stupid mistletoe to kiss me, idiot. You can do it whenever you like,” he replied, his thumb caressing your cheek gently, as if you were his most prized possession that he was more than reluctant to let go of (which you were).
“But why haven’t you done that before?” You asked, staring quizzically into his hazel eyes that were the softest brown infused with green, as if he held the new spring growth inside.
“I wanted your first kiss to be special,” he tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear. “There’re a lot of things that I want to do with you and do to you that I haven’t done yet, love, so you gotta be patient,” he promised and took your hands in his, squeezing them once.
“But what if I want you to show me what you want to do to me now?” You wanted to take the question back right after you said it out loud. His lips curled into a smirk which made you even more embarrassed than you already were, not saying a word. “No, I mean what am I even talking about...” you trailed off, pulling your lower lip between your teeth tentatively, not on purpose but because that was what you did everytime you were nervous, only to find his jaw slightly clenched as you did so before using his thumb to softly pull your lip back out.
“Desperate now, are we?” He teased, holding your hand as he led you towards the dining room where the various dishes you had prepared for dinner sat on the table. “Maybe I would, but let’s have dinner first, okay? Dessert will come later.”
It took you a moment to understand what he meant and when you finally did, your face turned red all over again.

In Search of the Stars
Word Count: 1,352/AO3
Pairing: New Dream/Rapunzel x Eugene
Summary: Rapunzel and Eugene set off in search of the stars, but they find themselves talking more about the sky’s other inhabitants.
Author’s Note: Hi! My name is Cass (I know, I know) and this is my contribution for Day 1 of New Dream Appreciation Week - Sun and Moon! Fair warning, I (dumbly) haven’t watched seasons 2 and 3 of Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure, so while I have the gist of what happens, I haven’t actually seen it. Most of my contributions will be based on the movie or a Modern!AU. This is a Modern!AU. It’s more of a drabble than an actual fic. I hope you like it!
It was a chilly evening in September - a night they had been planning for weeks. Bundled up in sweaters and blankets in tow, they’d set off in search of the stars. And it was hard to disagree that lying in the middle of a field in Montana was one of the best decisions they’d ever made.
They were clouded by darkness; the only light source was from the illumination of the moon, glowing above them. For the longest time, they were silent; appreciating the beauty of the night sky. The only noises that could be heard were their contented sighs, and the ambient sound of crickets chirping in the distance. They laid side by side, shoulders touching and hands entangled together.
“Eugene?” Rapunzel finally whispered, shifting onto her side so she could look at him.
“Hmm?” He hummed in response.
“This was one of the best ideas we’ve ever had.”
“I agree,” he chuckled, turning towards her. “We should’ve done this sooner.”
“The sky is just so pretty. Look at the all stars! And it’s so easy to see the constellations.”
“I wish the sky looked like this at home,” he added.
“Me too,” she agreed. “I wish we could just look out the window and see this all the time.”
“I guess that’s the consequence of living in a city. Light pollution.”
Unfazed by what he just said, she continued to gush about the sky. “And isn’t the moon so amazing?”
“Yeah,” he agreed. “Yeah it is. You know, when I was a kid, I thought it was made of cheese.”
“Really?” She giggled, springing up.
“Well, look at it,” he said pointing at it. Her eyes eagerly followed his finger. “It’s white and it has craters in it - it kind of looks like it could be a wheel of swiss cheese.”
She nodded. “I can see it now that you say that. When I was a kid, I used to talk to the man in the moon.”
“Oh yeah?”
“I always hoped that one day he would answer,” she replied sheepishly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
“Well it must’ve been hard for him to hear you - the moon is like a billion miles away, after all.”
She playfully shoved his shoulder and he laughed in response. “Actually, it’s only 238,900 miles away,” she responded smugly, crossing her arms over her chest and glaring at him.
He threw his hands up in surrender. “I forgot I was talking to an astronomy expert.”
“I’m not an expert,” she grinned. “I just read a lot of books about astronomy as a kid. And an adult.”
“The only thing I read as a kid were comic books. Not very educational. Well, I guess there was one book I liked to read, but it was fiction, so it’s kind of a moot point.”
She laid back down and rested her head on his shoulder. “I used to have a copy of Goodnight Moon. So I guess I just figured if I was saying goodnight to the moon, it was for a reason.”
“I didn’t have that book, but one of my favorite things to do when I was a kid was sneak out on summer nights and just look up at the sky - kind of like what we’re doing now.”
“I wish I knew you when you were a kid,” she murmured, snuggling closer to him. “I think we would’ve gotten along.”
“I could’ve used a friend like you, but I was a much different person then.”
“You know what always made me sad?”
“What?”
“That we can’t just look up at the sun.”
He furrowed his eyebrows together. “What do you mean?”
“I’m sure the sun is equally as beautiful as the moon, but we can’t look directly at it. If we look directly at the sun, it hurts our eyes and makes it so we can’t see - which is ironic, because we need light to see in the first place.”
“Huh, I never thought of it that way.”
“It’s always there, but we never actually look for it, you know? Like, imagine if the sun was as appreciated as the moon and the stars - if we could just lay around looking at it and appreciating its beauty.”
“I suppose that would be called sunbathing,” he quipped.
“Eugene,” she smirked.
“I’m teasing,” he chuckled. “But you’re right. No one sits around talking about going sun-gazing.”
She sighed. “Because it’s impossible. Unless there’s an eclipse or something, it seems like no one pays attention to everything the sun does. Could you imagine living life without the sun?”
“You’ve got me there, babe. I guess it would be dark all the time?”
“Dark. And cold. We wouldn’t have any plants, which means that we wouldn’t have any food.”
“So the sun is the ultimate source of life.”
“Exactly! We wouldn’t be alive without the sun.”
“So, tell me then, what’s the deal with the moon? Nighttime light source?”
“Well, for one, it controls the ocean’s tides. But the moon helps to stabilize the earth’s rotation; without it, we wouldn’t have seasons or day and night.”
He smirked, impressed by her knowledge. “And here I was thinking it was a big, pointless ball of cheese. How do you remember all this stuff?”
“I don’t know,” she shrugged. “I retain a lot of pointless information.”
“Hey now, I wouldn’t call that pointless information. You know a hell of a lot more than I do,” he said, squeezing her hand.
She gave him a small smile and they laid quietly for a few moments.
“You know what I just realized?” He wondered aloud, breaking the silence.
“What?”
“You said you were sad because we couldn’t just look up at the sun like how we look at the moon. But, I may have thought of a loophole.”
Her eyebrows furrowed together. “Sunglasses?”
He laughed. “No, no. We can’t look directly at the sun, but we can watch it rise and set.”
“Eugene! You’re a genius!”
“I wouldn’t call myself a genius,” he chuckled. “But, well, they can be a little overlooked. Who wants to wake up early just to watch the sunrise when you can watch it any day? Who wants to stop what they’re doing just to watch it set, you know? But then we get busy or lazy or forgetful, and the beautiful thing just...slips away.”
“You are quite the philosopher, Eugene Fitzherbert,” she grinned. “I didn’t even think about the sun rising or setting, which literally proves your entire point.”
“You flatter me too much, sunshine,” he chuckled.
“It’s true though! I wonder if you were a philosopher and I was an astronomer in another life,” she giggled.
“That would explain an awful lot about us then, huh?”
She nodded, shivering slightly. “Definitely.”
“You getting cold?”
“A little,” she admitted. “But I’m not ready to leave yet.”
“Not ready to say ‘goodnight’ to the moon?”
“Nope,” she smiled, cuddling closer to him.
“Well, if we get back to the hotel at a reasonable hour, maybe we can get up early enough to say ‘good morning’ to the sun,” he pointed out.
She narrowed her eyes, smirking. “I hate when you do that.”
“Do what?” He asked, feigning innocence.
“Try to entice me with something you know I’ll want to do in order to get me away from something else that I’m enjoying,” she said. “Because you worry that I’ll overdo it and not speak up if I’m uncomfortable because I just want to keep doing the thing that I like.”
“Rapunzel, I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he shrugged.
“Mhmm, I’m onto you” she mused, a smirk still plastered across her face. “I also know that you value your sleep and hate waking up early for anything.”
He chuckled. “You got me there. But, I did say that the sunrise gets overlooked because no one wants to wake up just to watch it - including myself. But one day won’t kill me, right?”
“Nope,” she smiled, shifting slightly. “Race you to the car?”
“You’re on!” He yelled, scrambling to his feet.

➜ HOW YOU TWO FIRST MET ; Juza Hyodo is that typical cold guy in school that everyone is lowkey scared of. That’s how he seems from outside anyway. You were asked by your biology teacher to borrow the books for the class’s current lesson from the library on the spot so you took a beeline for the shelves as fast as you could. But for god’s sake all the books were placed at the topmost part of the science shelves. You stood there for a good minute while glaring at the books overhead. You knew you were damned for good since there were no chairs nearby that were available and the librarian was nowhere to be seen. You stomped you feet in annoyance until you felt a looming presence behind you. A tall one. When you turned around, you saw Juza grabbing the books at ease and handing it to you. You thanked him quietly which surprised him because you actually didn’t quiver with fear or panic in his presence??? and you genuinely thanked him?? It was not usual for him to hear someone express their gratitude towards him. Even the cashiers from sweet shops he’d like to visit secretly we’re scared of him for heaven’s sake. After murmuring a little “‘S nothing.” he walked away. And that was the end of it. Or so you thought. The second time you met the purple haired boy was in a cafe. You were patiently waiting in the line for this so called Peanut Butter Pound Cake S'mores. According to your friends, it was one of the best desserts the cafe ever had. To test that theory, you decided to check the dessert yourself. Everything was perfectly normal until a young teenage boy of average height with fluffy pink hair and light blue eyes bumped into you, spilling a little of his drink on you. Yes, I’m talking about Muku. Baby boy was so scared and flustered, he apologized to you multiple times like crazy. Luckily it wasn’t anything hot so you didn’t burn yourself. Giving the boy a soft smile, you said it was fine and he shouldn’t worry about it. But he is a kind-hearted and modest boy with the motto "doing one good deed each day" so of course he offered you to give some of the Chocolate-Caramel Sandwich Cookies he had ordered before to apologize properly. Normally you would’ve reject the offer but with the way he was looking at you, you couldn’t find the heart to do so. While waiting for your order together, you learned what the boy’s name was and that he came here with his cousin. When you heard that the first image that popped into your mind was a soft looking person just like him you. After you got your order, the two of you made your way towards their table. And with that, your previous thought was thrown out of the window just like that. There he was, one and only Juza Hyodo, the person who helped you in the library, was sitting in a chair, quietly munching on one of the many sweets in front of him. When Muku announced that he was back, his eyes shot up to him and then shifted towards you. Yeah, it was awkward. Nevertheless, you tried to offer the tall boy a smile, which he just nodded his head, cheeks tilted pink to get his sweet tooth exposed to someone from school. After you sat down, Muku began to explain how he accidentally bumped into you and spilled some of his drink on you. Juza got the picture and said nothing. Though, gradually he started to become more comfortable. Before you knew it, you befriend the young teenage boy with fluffy hair. You told Muku how you two first met, which he only exclaimed how cool his cousin was and how the scene was just like from a shoujo manga. So yeah, your friendship with Juza started that day and slowly but steadily developed into something more. You would see him at school and chat with him, give him snacks to eat together on the rooftop etc.
➜ PERSONALITY COMPATIBILITY ; Let me just start of by saying that you two are really similar in terms of personality. A loner who is shy, quiet, awkward, likes alone time yet still friendly and good-willing towards others? Yeah, you get to point. When you're dating someone who has almost identical personality traits as you, reading them becomes easier. Juza is honest and critical of himself but is more than willing to work hard on it to improve himself and so are you. You two motive each other become better versions of yourselves, constantly pushing forward hand in hand ad I think that’s a beautiful thing in a relationship. You two have the same values. He deeply values his comrades and family so he would love it whenever he saw you getting along with Muku or Kumon. He’s very protective of those he holds dear, so watching you interact with them and care for them as if they were your own family would make him fall for you even more. The same goes for him as well. He’ d try his utmost best to get along with your family. Physical affection is OUT the window in the first start of your guys' relationship though. And when you guys DO start attempting physical contact, he'd be so stiff. Baby boy really hasn’t had a lot of experience in regards to how to treat others with affection outside of his family. 🥺 but deep down, Juza has a soft side. He’s a bit shy with showing his affections, but he tries his utmost best to convey his love to you― one of them being if you ever needed him support with ANYTHING honestly, he’ll always make it known to you that you have his full support and that he’s always right beside you through everything.
➜ SHARED ACTIVITIES ; With an delinquent-like appearance that often gives people a "scary" impression of him, I feel like Juza would rather spend time inside rather than outside. For those with a serious sweet tooth, baking, especially with a lover has a double benefit: It engages the two of you in an activity you probably don't do often, and you get to enjoy something delicious afterward. You two make an especially decadent dessert when you're feeling ambitious, or simply break out a boxed mix if you're short on time — or baking skills. At first times, there is a lot of trial and error and you guys end up getting covered in flour and such, a cheeky smile present on your face. These are usually the times where you get to hear Juza’s rare laughs as he joined in your joy. Feeling too lazy to bake something? Have a candy tasting. Satisfying your sweet tooth is a foolproof way to survive. Stock up on different colors of Starbursts, Gummi Bears or Worms, Sour Straws, Hi-Chews, and whatever else you are craving— and then eat your way through the rainbow together. Bonus points if you’re lounging off your sugar coma with a movie on the couch afterwards, he doesn’t particularly mind what kind so it’s totally up to you which genre you want to watch. This one is technically not a date but sometimes you, Juza, Muku and Kumon play board games. Depending on how competitive you are, this idea can be a little dangerous. (looking at you monopoly.) But it’s always a blast to spend time with people you love and cherish.
➜ ZODIAC COMPATIBILITY ; Juza’s birthday is on September 27, which makes him a Libra. When Libra and Scorpio come together in a love match, they tend to make a very emotionally connected and mutually satisfying union. Though Scorpio is a brooder who can get lost in the confusing welter of their own emotions, Libra’s proclivity for balance and harmony helps keep Scorpio even. Scorpio can return the favor to Libra with their characteristic powers of focus, a trait that Libra usually lacks. These two are very compatible due to their similar needs in a love relationship: Libra is the Sign of Partnership, and Libra is happiest when in a well-balanced and intimate relationship, while Scorpio thrives on emotional and sexual intimacy with their mate. These two Signs can make a very loyal, close and satisfying partnership. What’s the best aspect of the Libra-Scorpio relationship? The power they find in unity. They can accomplish a lot, whether they come together for a cause in the business or romantic sphere. They are both winners and they won’t give up, making theirs a relationship that takes care of business.

Sigh. You should’ve known Nishinoya would’ve spiked the fruit punch. This Christmas party was about to become an absolute shitshow.
You’ve known Kageyama for years, being one of the few people that introduced him to the oh so wonderful sport of volleyball. You guys were very close, sharing even the tiniest secrets with each other. He relied on you like nobody else. With his parents constantly busy with work, and his sister busy with school, there was no one he could talk to, except you. You were there for him through thick and thin. When his grandfather passed away? He sobbed into you shoulder after the funeral. When you guys got into Karasuno together? He was ecstatic. It took a while for you to register the feelings that had slowly developed with time. Till this day, you were too timid and anxious to ever reveal them to anyone, fearing word would eventually spread the blueberry boy.
Nishinoya decided to hold a huge Christmas party on Christmas Eve, hoping the entire volleyball team could countdown together. By the entire volleyball team, I mean the ENTIRE VOLLEYBALL TEAM. He even invited Coach Ukai and the three managers- Kiyoko, Yachi, and you. The only reason he didn’t invite Takeda sensei was because he had to celebrate with his family all the way in Osaka. He prepped all the food and drinks, which were laid out on a long table. Everyone was buzzing with excitement and anticipation for midnight. However, before midnight came, everyone was already starving. Half the food got wiped out in half an hour, except for the huge bowl of fruit punch that proudly stood in the middle of the table. That remained almost untouched by the most of the first years, while the second and third years took little amounts of it every time they wanted some. You see, all the first years had a taste of it, but all distinguished the distinct taste of alcohol that was added to it, and so decided to not risk it. Well, all the first years except, of course, Kageyama. You didn’t know how, but your dense, somewhat innocent childhood friend was chugging down cup after cup of fruit punch as the others stared amusedly. “He’s gotta be either stupid, or just completely done with life to drink that shit. Or both.” Tsukishima snickered, hands on his hips as he side eyed Yamaguchi, who was giggling along. You were contemplating between telling him about the rum that was in the punch, and letting him continue to drink the punch obliviously. You had your head in you hand as you laughed under your breath. “Y/n, you’re not gonna stop him?” Hinata asked, poking your shoulder. “You know what? I kinda wanna see what happens later, I’ll let this happen.”
Bad idea.
By the time Kageyama had finished his tenth cup, Nishinoya sauntered over to him to break the news.
“Kageyama, you do know that has rum in it, right?”
Kageyama’s eyes widened, spitting out the fruit punch he’d been enjoying.
“WHAT? I’VE HAD LIKE AT LEAST SEVEN CUPS OF THAT! WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME EARLIER?”
“You’ve actually had ten Tobio, I just didn’t tell you.” You finally let out a hearty laugh, revealing everything.
“Y/N HOW COULD YOU?”
“Sorry, I wanted to see what was gonna happen next.” You continued to cackle with the others, feeling slightly bad for Kageyama.
At this point, the blueberry haired boy’s face was tinted red as he stumbled around a bit, much to everyone’s expectations. In other words, it was absolutely hilarious. Never had you ever even seen him trip over air. And yet here he was, taking off the two sweaters he was wearing because apparently it was “too hot.” It was -2°C outside. There was only one warmer in Nishinoya’s house. He hastily stuffed the two sweaters into his bag, before stumbling over to the couch and plopping down on it, mumbling incoherently to himself as everyone else went on with their business. You, being the slightly worried friend, excused yourself from the weird conversation you were having with Tsukishima and Yamaguchi, and took a spot next to Kageyama. “Y/n...? Where are we?” You chuckled to yourself a bit, playing with his hair. “We’re at Nishinoya’s party, and your dumbass drank ten full cups of spiked fruit punch.” He laughed at himself a bit, coughing right afterwards as you pat his back. “You feeling okay? You’re not feeling feverish or anything? You want me to take you home first?” Kageyama stirred a bit, before nodding his head, giving you a lazy thumbs up. You smiled to yourself, taking in the rare sight of a drunk Kageyama, before snapping a photo of him, half passed out and red as a tomato.
Not long passed before the countdown took place. Kageyama was somehow still drunk, and was now doing weird dance moves in the middle of the house to the music that blasted through the speakers. The dance moves consisted of moonwalk attempts, the renegade, various other tiktok dances, the whip nae nae, the meat dance, various Fortnite dances, etc. “Woo damn Kageyama, didn’t know you were a dancer! Maybe I should spike my drinks more when he comes over-” “Nishinoya, no. Label the spiked drinks next time please.” “Yes mother Suga.” You were laughing you ass off on the couch as Kageyama danced with Hinata, who was trying his best not to trip over the table. You were filming this all down for... future uses. “Guys, settle down, it’s two minutes before midnight, we should go onto the roof and wait for the countdown.” Daichi suggested, all the students and Coach Ukai heading upstairs. You walked over to Kageyama, grabbing his sleeve as you dragged him towards the stairs.
“Tobio, we should go upstairs-”
“Waaaaait.”
You heaved a sigh, turning around to face the boy.
He slowly inched towards you, picking up the pace as he neared the wall next to the stairs, pinning you right there, his arm next to your head.
“Wh-what the fuck, Kageyama? Cmon, we gotta join the others on the roof-”
“Do you like me?”
You froze, not knowing how to react to such an explicit question. Your mouth hung open as your words got stuck in your throat.
“I-I uh-”
From upstairs, you heard Nishinoya’s voice yelling to downstairs.
“Yo Kageyama! Y/n! Get up here! It’s a minute to midnight!”
Kageyama rolled his eyes at the source of the sound, focusing back on your now pink face. Footsteps could be heard from the staircase as Nishinoya peeped his head at you two, his eyes widening in shock as you sent him a panicked look. The dual haired boy then zoomed back up the stairs, starting the countdown from fifty.
“Fifty!”
“Y/n, just answer me. Yes, or no?” Kageyama urged on, his voice becoming somewhat desperate.
You continued to stare at him, your mind completely blank. You were feeling very, very hot as you sweat a bit nervously.
“Forty!”
Kageyama looked to the ground, squeezing his eyes shut, before snapping back up to look at your figure, nervously pinned up against the wall.
“You know what? Fuck it. If you’re not the one in love with the other then I am. I don’t know how to say it, nor do I know what I’m gonna do next, but I just had to let you know. I’m gonna go upstairs now, bye.” He spilled out, choking back a tiny, almost unnoticeable sob as he slowly turned around, heading to the staircase.
“Thirty!”
“Tobio wait.”
You grabbed onto his hoodie, forcing him to face you as a stray tear dropped from his eye.
“You’re for real right now? There’s no way, you’re probably just drunk, so don’t worry about it!” You tried to play it off with a stifled laugh. Kageyama furrowed his eyebrows as his eyes bore into yours.
“I may be drunk, but I know what I’m saying.”
“Twenty!”
Your eyes softened as you let out a sigh, grabbing his hands from his hoodie pocket as you neared his hunched over figure.
You leaned into his ear on your tippy toes, trying to keep your balance as you whispered. “Well in that case, don’t worry. You’re not the only one in love.” Before planting a light kiss on his temple. The tips of his ears went redder as his mouth hung open, registering the shock that entered his body.
“Ten!”
Kageyama snapped himself out of his mini trance by slapping himself in the face. “So, now what?” You rolled your eyes, before wrapping your arms around his neck. “What do you think Tobio?”
“Five!”
You slowly pulled his head down, letting your foreheads touch as you enjoyed the warmth he radiated.
“Four!”
You slowly tilted your head, letting him do the same as you both leaned in.
“Three,”
He whispered, smiling softly as he let his hand travel up to your face, planting soft strokes on your cheek.
“Two,”
Both your faces were now dangerously close to each other’s. You could smell whiffs of fruit punch, mint, and a slight tint of alcohol lacing his warm breath as it fanned over your face.
“One.”
Once he finally counted that down, he let his lips graze yours in a soft, yet intimate kiss. One of his hands continued to stroke your cheek while the other led its way down to the small of your back. All the cheers from the roof became pure white noise as you both let everything that was bottled up out in your little bubble of emotion. You slightly giggled into the kiss, tiny breaths tickling Kageyama’s face just like how his bangs sweeped against your forehead. Your hands found their way into his hair as you fiddled with the dark strands, feeling how fluffy his hair actually was in your fingertips, although it looked flat most of the time. Everything came crashing down on you two as you pulled away for air, the noise coming back just as quick as it vanished. Your faces were still mere inches away only as you took in all his features, from his raven blue eyes, to his now rosy cheeks, and his disheveled hair. “So, did I do it right?” Kageyama nervously asked, looking down at the ground. Your hand went up to his chin, forcing him to look back at you. “Damn straight you did Tobio.” You two giggled at that statement, before he let his hand travel up to yours, intertwining your fingers and giving your hand a light squeeze, bringing it up to his face and planting a soft peck on it.
“Merry Christmas Y/n.”
“Merry Crisis to you too Tobio.”
Bonus:
“Damn Kageyama, way to get a girl on Christmas Eve!” Nishinoya yelled from the staircase, the rest of the volleyball team behind him with the phones in front of their faces. The two of you burned red as the libero snickered. “Just so you know, I got it on my camera, don’t you worry. That’s going on the volleyball groupchat.” The first and third years came down from the staircase, patting Kageyama on the back as they congratulated him for finally getting out of the friend zone, Tsukishima relentlessly teasing him about his “flirting technique of pinning someone to a wall.” You watched on the side as the managers dragged you to a corner, forcing every little detail out of you in an hour long tea spilling session.
Needless to say, this was probably the best Christmas you’ve ever celebrated so far.
You see I’m shoving all my romantic fantasies into this blog so I can read through them and fill the empty void in my heart that is persistent to stay there and never leave. Maybe it’s due to the lack of social interaction with the opposite gender that I get these days, or maybe I just have dumb lonely single bitch syndrome😗✌️
Hope you liked this though xx

December 6th: Oh Fudge!
Jake had started feeding Trevor almost as soon as they got home. There was never a time where Trevor didn’t have some food in his hands. Supposedly, it was to get Trevor used to stuffing his face with as much food as possible all the time. Trevor would just be sitting there with his laptop working on an email and Jack would come over with a plate of food, all warm and hot and place it on Trevor’s belly so it wouldn’t get in the way of his work. The first day was the hardest, because Trevor was always full and he wasn’t used to that. His brain was telling him to stop eating but it took about a day or two for him to stop listening to that and just continue eating. Although, like all good things, eventually it came to an end and four days later they had gotten through most of the perishable things from the party, with Jack eating the healthy things like fruit and vegetables and Trevor eating all of the fattening food, surprising himself by not really even thinking about how fat he wanted to get because he knew that it wasn’t up to him anymore.
Eventually the long weekend was over and it was Monday morning. Jack had already gone out to go to the gym before work, taking Abigail to school, and he had left Trevor to stuff himself with the breakfast that Jack had prepared, and then he would go to his own job, stuffed fat and full with a big lunch to tide him over until he got home in the afternoon.
Jack decided to take the job with fewer hours so some days he would only needed to be at work for about six hours. It would also mean that he could pick up Abi directly from school and she wouldn’t need to be in the after school program anymore. He was looking forward to being able to spend more time with their daughter. Because he would always go to the gym twice a day, he only got to spend time with her from dinner onwards. Now they could hang out at the park, and play together while Jack did the long hours. He was excited. He was sick of being ‘office daddy’ to her because he was never home.
His new job started in the new year. He couldn’t wait. Usually his current job was easy and he could munch on food while he was writing emails or answering phone calls. He managed to get a microwave and a refrigerator in his office so he could heat up and store all of the food that Jack would send him and he was grateful for it because he had privacy in his office and no one could see how much food he was eating.
The day had gone well so far with him hoisting his heavy frame up off of the kitchen chair and slowly plodding back-and-forth from the kitchen table to the sink where he would pile all of the dirty dishes, hoping to be able to wash them if he had time, but today was not that day. He was so full from the last three or four days of stuffing himself that all nonessential movement was impossible. The idea of walking all the way to his car and then walking from his car to his cubicle seems like a marathon. Eventually, he just decided to be lazy and rinse all the dishes off and put them straight in the dishwasher and run it. At this point, there were so many dirty dishes from all of the Tupperware that they were cleaning to return to Gavin and all of their own pots, pans, and dishes from breakfast that they need to run the dishwasher sometimes twice a day.
The thing was, Trevor was not used to the extra weight and how much it slowed him down so by the time he had finished with this he looked and noticed that he needed to leave for the office in 20 minutes or he was going to be late. That normally would’ve been plenty of time but he was slow from all of the food. Not only his breakfast, but his wake-up donuts and his midnight snack were all teaming up to make him slower than usual and he still needed to take a shower, get dressed and grab a carry-on suitcase sized lunch to bring to work. He needed to skip the shower this morning. Sacrifices need to be made. He got some wet wipes and went over the problem areas, making sure to brush his teeth and wash his face and then went to grab his clothes to get dressed for work.
That was the problem. He hadn’t taken into account all of the bloating from all of that food. Days of eating to the point of pain. All of that food had to go somewhere and it had gone straight to his stomach. Wearing polo shirts around the office was frowned upon and also he found that when he lifted up his arms his belly hung out the bottom of the polo, which was definitely unprofessional look for someone who had just gotten a promotion.
He needed to get new clothes. He just figured he needed to suck it up and suck it in to get the dress shirt on, even if he had no hope of being able to button up the collar button, he could put a tie over it and no one would really notice. It was the same with the dress pants that had no hope of being able to button, because when he put a belt on over it, no one would be able to see that his dress pants weren’t buttoned up all the way.
He could feel that the seams right around his crotch were like sausage casings and he needed to make sure to pull up the pants a little bit on the knees just so he had enough fabric so he didn’t tear his pants when he sat down. If he held in his stomach ever so slightly, with the last bit of his abdominal strength, He was able to sit down and slide on his shoes without too much trouble. He looked at the clock and noticed that he was already about a minute late. He started to lumber out of the bedroom and then thought better of it and rifled through his closet to get his boyfriend’s oversized sweater. He pulled it over his body and then felt grateful that he didn’t need to suck in his stomach anymore, because even a few minutes was too long.
He went to the table in the entryway which had the lunch bag that was packed into a gym bag that had enough space in it for him to put his laptop and papers he needed for work.
He grabbed all of his stuff, grateful that he grabbed a sweater that had pockets because he was not going to be able to fit his wallet, keys and phone into those pants pockets anymore. All of a sudden he got a text. It was from Jack. It said: I bet by now you’ve realized that there is a cost to being a pig. If I’m guessing right you probably are running a couple of minutes late and have noticed that even your biggest set of clothes isn’t enough to cover your fat greedy frame anymore. Do me a favor and take a photo of yourself in the mirror before you leave and send it to me. I want to have it as a before picture to show people how thin you used to be at 245. Have fun at work, pig.
Without even thinking, Trevor went to the full length mirror and snapped a photo and immediately sent it to his husband. He did it without even thinking and it surprised him. Had he become so comfortable surrendering control of his decisions to his husband already? He looked at the clock and realized he needed to hustle so he went out the door and started the trip to work.
Several hours later he had done a morning conference and intentionally avoided all of the food that has been placed by his staff as a way to curry favor with the increasingly corpulent manager because he knew that if he started eating now he wouldn’t have clothes that would fit by the end of the day. The kiss of death was between 10:30 and one because he had work to do in his office looking over budgets, overseeing proposals from his employees, dealing with issues, putting out fires, taking care of budgets and looking over performance reviews. He opened the bag just out of curiosity and was grateful that none of the food that Jack had made him need to be heated up. It was all finger food. There was a note: After seeing you at that party, I kind of liked seeing you stuffing your face with your hands so I decided to get you some food that you could eat without having to hoist your fat ass up off the chair. I thought you’d appreciate that. Eat up big boy!
Jack knew it was a bad idea to indulge. There were potato chips, cookies, and a huge block of fudge that was broken up into little squares and seem to have a little things added to it. Some had nuts, some were a blend of different kinds of chocolate. It looks like an assortment that Jack had probably gotten from somewhere. It was probably that bakery he liked to frequent. Jack loves cooking desserts but making a variety of fudge was a difficult ordeal. It wasn’t like making ice cream that you could just mix in some stuff at the last minute and chill it. Each variety needed to be a separate pan of fudge and that ended up being a lot of everything.
Before he knew it, he was finished with the presentation that he needed to deliver at one that was outlining some objectives that his team needed to hit over the course of Q1, which was scheduled to start after the holidays. He absentmindedly reached his hand and found that the presentation was about to start in half an hour and he only had one or two things left in the bottom of the lunch bag. He could finish it. He could indulge. These clothes were already toast. A couple of extra bites weren’t going to hurt him. His clothes felt really tight so he wiggled in a seat a little bit trying in vain to give his fat ass and hips a little bit of extra room. He was already full and his stomach was a little bit sore but he wanted to move beyond that to when his stomach was going to have a dull ache all afternoon. He pushed himself and managed to finish everything.
Feeling massive and exhausted as he leaned forward, hands braced on the desk to push himself up and that’s when he heard it: the tear. He grabbed the stuff for his presentation, already having to unbutton some of the buttons on his shirt underneath his sweater just so he could breathe and sure enough, the back of his pants had torn when he had bent over.
The strain had just been too much. It couldn’t be helped. He looked at the time and the conference room, which was only a couple of doors down the hall I was going to start filling with members of his team in a couple of minutes and he knew that he needed to get in there first. He didn’t need to stand at all during his presentation and this would be a really great way to avoid having to avoid anybody noticing what the fudge had done.
He grabbed the stuff and plodded over to the conference room trying to make sure that no one could see the back of his pants which were tearing ever so quietly as he took each step closer to the conference room.
Unfortunately for him, Ben Sanders was already in the conference room so Trevor just took the long way around endeavoring to make sure that he never had his back to the young fit man.
The presentation went without a hitch and he opened up his laptop after all of the presentations were done under the auspices that he was going to work on emails and help anybody with any questions they had and after about 15 or 20 minutes everyone filed out and he was able to make the way back to the office hoping that nobody saw. He felt dirty and hot.
He couldn’t help it, so he texted Jack: I see now what your evil plan was with all of those finger foods. I ate it all by lunchtime and then I tore the back of my pants wide-open and now the rest of my day is just trying to avoid anybody seeing that I’ve torn my pants open. I only have a couple of hours before I can go home and then we can deal with these wardrobe issues. Maybe you can teach me a lesson for being such a greedy pig that I tore apart my clothes.
A few moments later he got his reply: That will be fun. What am I going to do with you? I need to teach you a lesson. You’ve become far too greedy. Part one of my punishment is already on the way. See you at dinner time!
Jack tried messaging back but he just got an auto response that the user wasn’t available at this time and that all messages will be delivered later. He gave up and went back to work, taking care of a conference call and dealing with a couple of clients who needed overviews on how their campaigns were going when he gets a page from the secretary. “Sir? There’s a guy here from Martinelli’s Pizza who has an order for you? Two large pizzas. I tried to sign for them but apparently whoever ordered these says that you need to sign for them yourself. Can you come up to the front desk?”
Shit. Jack. “Can you send him back to my office?”
“Sorry sir. He’s not on the visitor logs, so he’s not allowed into the office. Security thing. I promise I’ll have everything ready and you can just sign and get back to work.”
“I understand.” Trevor got himself up off of his chair and walked gingerly past all of his employees and coworkers through the office to the front desk at the other side of the very long open office design. He tried to walk quickly but he was just way too full and his clothes were way too tight for that to happen.
He went to the office and saw that it was some lean pitbull-faced** teenager holding a clipboard with a pen pointed towards him so Trevor positioned himself so his backside was facing the wall and quickly sign for the two pizzas and then grab them and then turned to go back to his office, hearing the snicker of the pizza delivery guy behind him, knowing that his secret has been revealed, but happily the secretary was too busy on a phone call and didn’t notice.
He made sure to keep his backside facing the bear wall so that no one would see his torn pants and managed to get the pizzas back to his office, red-faced from the effort of walking across the room after having eaten so much earlier, and from embarrassment.
Three hours later, he had finished all but about four pieces of the pizza and it was time for him to go home. He had stuffed himself so full that he was actually in pain. He thought about trying to eat the last four pieces but he knew that he wouldn’t be able to do that without feeling sick, so he took the four pieces and tuck them into an oversized Ziploc bag to put in his refrigerator so that he could eat them at some point tomorrow. He then put the boxes discreetly into his trashcan so that only the nighttime cleaning person would know how much food he had packed away.
He grabbed his now very light empty bag and lengthened the strap so it hung covering the now sizable tear in his pants and he started making his way through the office, past the mail room to drop off some outgoing inter-office mail to the front desk and out the main entrance to the parking garage where he could drop the bag into his trunk and then drop himself into his car and drive home, towards the punishment he was excited to receive.
**Note: my dictation auto-corrected pimple-faced teenager to pitbull-faced teenager—but I liked it, so I kept it in. FYI.

Tumblr media
To-Oh during spring made Light’s skin crawl: love notes proliferated the campus from students not quite grown out of youthful notions; heat creeping beneath his sweaters, tugging at them as if to say short sleeves begged entrance; and the anniversary of his father’s heart attack—one year past—hung over all the landmarks no matter their relation to cardiac health. In that way, he noticed the newspaper story of the murderer who died of a heart attack blaring on a nearby kiosk. Without any real eye of the bizarre, Light didn’t notice things unless their relevance was near to his own life or those around him. Dark ink stared back at him, a jack-knifed business man laid out next to a graphic discussing murder statistics in the Kanto region. It was of no surprise or consequence to Light, whose policeman father made him all too aware of how life flitted from a people every day.
Slipping payment to the newsstand worker and stalking off to his next class, Light read through the story: a well-liked business man succumbing to a heart attack mid-quarter projections meeting and was found—after a house search was requested by the detective L—to have four intact human skeletons buried in his backyard. The wife, a woman with a name that flew in one ear and out the other, claimed no knowledge of her husband’s cruel hobby of picking up young men and then poisoning them with club drugs concocted in their garage; however, the great detective was said to still hold her in suspicion and no innocence was assumed.
A woman bumped into Light, who flicked his newspaper down and apologized for not paying attention. His thoughts were scrambled between happiness for a murderer slain and a stomachache—born not of bad food but an innate strangeness to what he’d just read. The newspaper went into his bag, the story out of his mind, and Light continued classes at To-Oh without much more than passing conversation devoted to “that criminal who died of a heart attack, can you believe it?”
Which, of course, wasn’t his last thought on the case. He chewed the flavor out of the incident, but in quiet. Light never liked to burden people with more than they could take and while his own voice was his favorite song, he knew people had limits. Off-hand, he mentioned the report to his father at dinner, whose murmured response left Light’s trap shut tight to further inquisitions.
“How troubling,” his father said. “We must treasure every day, and live our lives as honestly as possible.”
Three weeks later, in a smaller column, another criminal’s heart attack was reported; this time, Light didn’t pay for the newspaper as Kiyomi put her copy down in front of him. Her near-despot rule over the school’s journalism outfit drove her to often drop stories in front of him, asking for his interest and time to discuss various dictates of law enforcement. For this story, however, she asked not for his expertise, but instead to prod in tandem with her at the curiosity of it all.
“It’s weird, isn’t it?” She traced a finger over the meager profile shot of the victim, who was discovered post-death to have been collecting severed human fingers in his fridge door. “That one guy dies, turns out to be awful, and then another one?”
“Makes a person want to believe in patterns.” Light looked at her through his lashes, fork to his lips as he took another bite of their shared tart. Whenever they discussed important issues, Kiyomi liked to do it at cafes; Light suspected it was out of journalistic habit, since she took all her interviews to the same place they sat now. “Or even luck, I guess.”
“Luck?”
“Well,” he said, “luck for anyone who would have been those guys’ victims. Luck for the rest of us. Not so much for them.”
Kiyomi took a larger piece of tart, shining with a glazed cherry, and chewed it in vigorous gnashes. “Do you believe in patterns?” Her question was idle, almost absent between chews.
Light shook his head, fork placed down on a napkin and his hand now free to fish his phone from his pocket. “I don’t think there’s anything to this random stuff besides a few jerks getting their comeuppance,” he said. “Nothing but justice, you know. I have to go; my sister texted me.”
Sayu sent him a string of texts, to be honest, about how his mom needed him to come home and help with dinner. Of course, when Light arrived he saw the situation for what it was: his sister needed to watch a TV drama premiere; his mother needed onions chopped; and both of them were unwilling to compromise. Fortunately, the best brother and good son arrived home in time to accommodate them by chopping onions and fending suggestions that he was on a date with Kiyomi.
He fell into his computer chair, swung himself around in lazy circles until his brain became dizzy—one word thoughts all that remained. Onions. Kiyomi. Death. Patterns. Luck. Sticking his foot out, Light halted his movement and froze. In two scoots, he was at his keyboard, and he typed in his query to the Internet as quick as he thought it: Recent Murder Investigations Detective L. After a second, he added quotations around the phrase Detective L and pressed enter. Floods of pixel results washed over him as Light took in link after link to articles covering the great detective who solved any case put on his desk but never revealed himself to the public.
Three articles spoke of specific cases L solved: the Monkey Thief Theory (a jeweled monkey stolen from a well-loved heiress, ultimately found to have been absconded by her own hand); the Pit Viper Peril (a man who used viper venom to poison his business associates); and the Beautiful Woman Break-ins (a woman broke into several of the world’s richest mansions but stole only their fresh fruit. The woman was caught, but no details on her arrest were ever given to the public.) Two articles called L the single most important person in criminal justice history. One article mentioned, albeit as an end note, that L had worked on both cases whose solving had more to do with sudden heart attacks claiming the perpetrators than his own prowess.
A headache formed at the horizon of Light’s skull after reading too close to the screen, so he tried to print the articles. Only one printed all the way—on the second, he ran out of paper and went to Sayu’s room to bug her for using all the printer paper, which she insisted she needed for art.
“You print off pictures of that actor guy in full color and paste them onto your binders,” Light complained. “I need that paper for important stuff. You can’t be so wasteful.”
“It’s the art of collage,” she intoned. “You wouldn’t understand. You don’t have passions like I do, otherwise you’d go out with Kiyomi.”
Light took a third of her printer paper as revenge for the comment and brought in the articles to show Kiyomi. Her eyes were luminous when he arrived at the café table, arms similarly weighted with information which they swapped. She gave him a newspaper with intriguing, if distressing, updates: another man killed by cardiac arrest, revealed to be a secret killer.
“Do you know who was pursuing this one’s death?” He paused, pushing the paper away to give the waitress his full attention and order: black coffee and banana muffin, if they still have some. Kiyomi ordered ahead of him, and her meal sits in front of her pock-holed by her absent bites. In answer, she shakes her head and takes another minuscule clump of her rolled omelet.
“Nobody special was named, if that’s what you’re asking,” she said. “These articles are pretty good, but it’s hard to know whether L has been involved in more without knowing how many heart attack deaths like this have happened.” She gestured with her chopsticks as she continued, pointing at the highlighted National Police Association in the paper’s text. “From what I can gather, the Japanese police are the ones that found the posthumous evidence in the man’s apartment, same as with the other ones.”
“What’s the rub is how would they know?” Light tapped his chin, wristwatch catching café lamp glow and projecting a jiggling circle down on the laminate table. “A heart attack happens, you can just rule that as someone’s poor health, or maybe just a sad stroke of fate. But someone must be alerting police to these people’s suspicious nature for them to be investigating in depth.” He coughed, his next sentence making his throat close in embarrassment, but continued. “Listen. I support the police, you know that, right?”
“Sure,” Kiyomi mumbled around more egg. “You support your dad, at least.”
“Yeah. Well. I know the guys he works with, and while they’re not stupid, there’s no way they got this intuitive so quick.” His muffin slipped in front of him and Light nodded his thanks to the waitress, waiting until she left to pull over one printed article. “Here’s what I know: at least one of these cases was under L’s purview. Who’s to say the other ones aren’t also?”
Discarding the article, Light reached for the condiment caddy and snatched up two creamer cups, while Kiyomi set her chopsticks down in contemplation. Her eyes—dark blue to the point of midnight—scanned both the newspaper and articles. With her mouth pressed together, red lips shining with waxen smoothness, Light could see why she held sway over so much of the school’s masculine consciousness: a beautiful woman who thought before anything. His own attention settled further from attraction and more into an approach toward admiration; she would’ve made a good rival, were he still seventeen and looking for the challenge.
“How would we find out what cases L has worked on?” Kiyomi’s gaze darted from the papers to Light’s coffee, swirling ever more auburn with the creamer added. “Why didn’t you just get a latte, if you’re going to make it so sweet with cream?”
“I like to make things myself.” Light waved his hand to dispel her remark. “I don’t know how to find all the cases lining up to this particular situation, which also have L’s involvement, but I think I can get us to a starting place.”
“Oh?”
“Yes. But I’ll need my computer.” Light took a sip of his coffee and couldn’t resist the pleased smile it brought to his lips: the satisfaction of something useful and pleasurable mixed into one cup. “And about an hour of time, so I’ll probably skip contemporary law today. You don’t have to come, but you can if you like.”
“I should stay, go to class to get notes so you don’t fall behind.” Kiyomi ran her finger around her own teacup, liquid no longer steaming but cool and green with tea leaves solidified at the bottom. “Can I ask you something?” Her voice wavered and Light couldn’t catch its true colors—only flashes of uncertain purple, vulnerable red. “Is it silly to be excited about this? Trying to figure out a mystery together?”
Swallowing, Light pretended not to hear the word together as he knew she meant it: you and me, an item, a duo. “No,” he said. “It’s exciting to solve mysteries, in any case. Every time I’ve worked on stuff like this with my dad, I feel changed, uplifted. Like,” he paused, rubbing his fingers together, “someone just turned on the lights in a pitch-dark room, and now I get to see all the secrets around me.”
“I understand,” Kiyomi said, and in that moment, Light looked at her midnight eyes and saw that she did.
It was easier than expected to hack into his dad’s account on the NPA intraweb, although Light knew he used the same password for everything: ssl226. He wanted, in a strange way, for his dad’s heart to be harder to crack—to know less about the key and earn it fitting in the lock—but couldn’t dig into why he felt such a way. Not with Kiyomi sending him text after text from class, each one a more urgent call for updates on his progress. His attention snapped from phone, to computer, to an odd hole in his stomach after their earlier meeting.
He never enjoyed when people tried to get close to him, as though they wanted a piece of Light the same way a child wants a piece of adulthood—desperate without knowledge of what lay beneath. While a social creature, thriving on connection, he cringed from women’s fumbled confessions of attraction and roamed away from their asking mouths toward men, who wanted silent partners to their escapades and were willing to return the favor. In many ways, those interactions left Light cold as well: tacky plastic bandages peeling off at the slightest friction.
The truth was it was easier to want what was right in front of him and not consider the far off. So, Light’s fingers flew across his keyboard with the neon flash from his cell phone ignored. He flipped through files labeled in long numerical defaults—a mark of his father’s tech-illiteracy—with time ticking away. When he finally alighted on the correct documents, his phone inbox was full. Without reading any of the messages, he deleted them all and texted Kiyomi to meet him later at the library.
Armed with a large stack of paper, he weighed down his backpack and left, waving off his mother’s question about why he was skipping class. On the television, a reporter spoke about rising stock in the Yotsuba Corporation’s new make-up company. She laughed after her speech and admitted to wearing their lipstick during the segment. Both Sayu and Light’s mother laughed along too. Light ran out the door, his bag smacking on his side.
The library was quiet except for a few students banging on keyboards, their faces shining with essay-deadline sweat. Light found Kiyomi lounged on a two-seat bench, her legs propped onto the low table and a style guide opened over her face. She sat up when he dropped in beside her, pushing the guide off and starting into an interrogation on why he didn’t answer her texts. Holding up a hand, Light pulled out his papers and set them on the table, smacking a finger on them.
“I know who he’s attacking next,” he said.
“What?” Kiyomi pushed his hand aside and flicked through his findings. “Okay, so these are the last, what? Twenty or so cases the NPA worked on with L?”
“Yes, about twenty,” Light agreed. “But we don’t usually call on him, unless it’s a difficult case. I mean, it’s pretty rare he takes any case at all unless it’s big news. But look at the cases he’s worked on since 2002.”
“Heart attacks.” Stopping at the top page, Kiyomi drew her finger along the chart labels—suspect name, suspect location, case title, behavior—and ended on the final column of conclusion. “Not all of them, though. Only a few scattered ones.”
“I know!” Light couldn’t stop a little eagerness leaking in; his sleuthing was about to pay off. He took out another stack of paper—thinner than the last—and handed those to Kiyomi. “I looked at those cases. All of them had victim counts lower than ten. Some of them were even cases the NPA didn’t put much resources behind. But,” he raised his finger in emphasis, “these ones had interesting details. Like the guy who had skeletons in his backyard? He was some kind of cannibal who left organs behind. The finger guy was notorious, even though he was pretty low activity.”
“You sound like you have a theory.”
“I might. Check out the most recent listing.”
Kiyomi flipped back to the case chart and narrowed her eyes. “Do we know this guy? Kyosuke Higuchi?”
Light sighed and tapped his finger to his knee. “He’s some kind of executive, at the Yotsuba Corporation. I tracked the case listed to one about a bunch of their new make-up brand’s younger interns going missing. The count is five right now, but one of them was the niece of a big government person so the NPA got told to ask L about it.” He smiled at Kiyomi. “Do you want to hear my theory?”
She tapped the paper stack and set it on the table, turning her full attention to him. “Someone is picking off the small fries,” she said, “with heart attacks, and the link between cases is L.”
A frustrated puff of breath exited Light. “Well. Yeah. I guess,” he said. “But it’s pretty smart, right? Getting rid of the guys who you can find, but can’t super prove anything about, before they get to higher numbers.”
“He’s still killing people,” Kiyomi said. “I mean, isn’t that just like what they’re doing? These guys are victims too, in a sense, and this L guy is offing them before they get a trial. What if he’s wrong?”
Light folded his arms across his chest. “But he hasn’t been wrong,” he said. “Not yet.” Shuffling in his seat, he leaned forward, elbows on his knees, and took a deep inhale. “I want to send him a message.”
“What? A message?” Kiyomi laughed, her long earrings shaking with her clipped hair. “What’re you going to say? We’re on to you, buddy. Better watch out.” She shook her head, laughter making way for a more serious expression. “It’s not a good idea,” she said. “We don’t know how he’s giving people heart attacks, other than by magic or something. It’s dangerous.”
Air lifted and deflating from Light’s chest as he mulled her response around inside. It burned a trail through his soft meats, where enthusiasm continued to grow through whatever scorch she inflicted with sense and caution. His body was a garden growing thicker at just the idea of communicating with the person who had such a power, who made such a decision as to end someone’s life when they ended someone else’s.
Headless of his contemplation, Kiyomi stood and took the papers. “It’s interesting, I’ll give you that,” she said. “But we shouldn’t contact L directly. It will alert him to our own knowledge; we’d give more ground than gain. Let me look over what you have, and later this week, we’ll pool our thoughts and start to put together a better case.”
He handed over his print outs, not too precious about them since he had the real digital versions at home. As she left, Light’s eyes danced away from Kiyomi’s prim stride and toward the tall bookcases. His mind brought to him a scenario where he, and everyone else in the library, was crushed by toppled bookcases and the ceiling caving in. A tragedy without a pinpoint reason behind it—only a god who wanted to see something destroyed. Or maybe it was some kid who leaned too hard. Life was so random in how it could be taken or given, and that thought propelled him further into whatever L’s powers were.
Somehow, there was a man out there able to control death and Light, despite Kiyomi’s warning, wanted to know the shape of his tools.
L counted three red candies from his pack and collected them into his palm. They rattled against each other like gemstones, gleaming under computer-haze lights until long black claws pinched one away.
“Red ones are best,” Ryuk said. “Except for cherry flavor.”
“Cherry flavor is fine if you get the right brand.” L turned back to his laptop, nabbing a pink hard candy for himself and sucking its watermelon flavor into a slow, sugar liquid. It subsumed his entire mouth, coated his tongue and teeth. His hand stayed outstretched as Ryuk one-by-one crunched the red candies into his toothsome mouth. Clattering shards collected at his lip corners only to be wiped away by his skeletal hand.
At the moment, both occupied the same opulent hotel room despite their aesthetic pairing more implied them existing in different realities. L had laid out over his hotel desk his laptop, a bowl of packaged sweets, and a thin notebook—opened to a page half-filled by his scrawl. Methodical in his fingers, he looked over the most recent reports sent in from Japan, his interest waning here and there into an intense focus on whatever candy he opened next. Ryuk, on the other hand, was taken up by the television, which L left on for him in most hotel rooms, and all the small colored blotches fizzled together on the screen. He laughed as one blotch fell down a flight of stairs.
Their relationship often balanced on this mutual agreement for entertainment—it flowed between them as Ryuk received TV, movies, and candy from L and L, of course, got the Death Note. While this arrangement meant they were in constant contact, Ryuk did fly between the human world and Shinigami realm on his own whims; he told L human poker wasn’t as good as the death gods played it, which L couldn’t argue being he wasn’t too fond of poker either way. At one point, L asked why he—of all people on Earth and beyond—received such an unholy tool of death and Ryuk responded, “Oh, yeah. The thing sort of fell out of my pocket. I need one of those chain wallets, keep that on me.” As if to prove his point, the next time Ryuk showed up to see how L and the Death Note were progressing, he had his personal Note hooked to a thick metal chain.
“Made it myself.” His voice smacked of undue pride, although L complimented the chain without trace of sarcasm. “Not as good as the human ones, but pretty cool.”
L didn’t care if the Shinigami made a thousand ugly chain wallets, or watched TV all day. What he cared about was the ease the Death Note brought to his work. So often fissures of stress cracked along his psyche when dug into cases which were clean cut—to him, at least—but couldn’t get traction enough with local enforcement to make arrests: to bring justice to people who screamed their guilt to L’s careful crow eyes. But with the Death Note, all he had to do was write a name, wait and assign a search team to the killer’s home posthumously.
Spread in front of him, he tapped a pen end to the blank Note page. All that was left in the Higuchi case was to find a time to kill him while he was alone; for that purpose, L wormed around several important forms and decision-makers to install camera into the vile businessman’s home and office. Blue connective fuzz overlaid the images displayed on his laptop and made Higuchi, idling behind his large desk, appear alien. To some degree, L felt the man was alien to him—in thought, in action (or lack of it), in intention—and had no interest in learning a scrap about Higuchi. He cared more about the space beneath the man’s home, which would be unlocked and unloaded of its human prisoners once Wedy got her go-ahead; keeping a successful thief on his payroll benefited L tremendously.
“He’s been alone for two hours,” L said, to himself and also Ryuk, if the Shinigami wanted to hear. “If I kill him now, how long before someone finds the body?”
“Weekend,” Ryuk piped back. L looked over his shoulder to see his long ebony chicken legs crossed on the bed while yellow eyes stared at the television without blinking. “He might just rot there over the next two days.”
“Oh, I think so—,” L stopped mid-speech at Higuchi’s secretary and her brown ponytail bobbing into frame. She stood at near two inches taller than the man, who sneered as she spoke. At the very least, L knew she was not in danger of kidnapping. He sat straighter and leaned to hear their conversation over the microphones, the secretary’s voice soft and faint from many miles away.
“A young man left this for you.” She held out an envelope; even at his angle, L saw no address or marker beyond Higuchi’s name. “He said he needs you to give it to someone.”
“What?” Higuchi’s nasal intonation pinched his words. “I’m not some kind of messenger. Tell him to just send it by post, if he needs someone to see it so bad.”
“He sounded urgent that you give it,” the secretary said, and dropped the envelope down. “I’ll tell you something, he was very handsome. Seemed like a smart young man. This is probably his resume, you know.”
“Ah.” Snake oil slithered through Higuchi’s response as he took hold of the envelope. “Well, who am I to keep down a young upstart? Anything else he said?”
The secretary taped her finger to her lip and hummed. “Just that it was important someone get this message,” she said. “Someone powerful, who knew what you’d done. I don’t know what he meant by that.”
L’s eyes lit up; Higuchi became pale. “Ah yes,” the businessman simpered. “I’m not sure I know either. Well, why don’t you go home? I’ll see you on Monday.”
The moment the secretary left, Higuchi threw the envelope into the trash and L whipped around to Ryuk.
“Can you fly somewhere for me?” he asked. “And pick something up?”
“Dunno,” Ryuk said. “Depends what I get in return.”
After an hour and a promise for several all large candy purchases, L held a faintly sticky gold envelope in his hands. His hands, covered by white fabric gloves, turned the item over and over in curious rotation. Thumbing the corners, he admired how thick the stock seemed, how elegant the adhesion of the close seemed to lay, and upon opening it, he was sorry to mar the lines. Out fell a quarter-folded page with lines as crisp as the outer shell. L unfolded the page, smoothed it with both hands with delicacy he hadn’t practiced on something non-confectionery in years. Across the fine surface was hard-black typed words, struck out in small font but for some reason read to him like slow cream—a voice L never heard before but caught him, easily, by his mind’s tongue.
Dear L, the letter started. I know what you’ve been doing, but I don’t know how. I’d like to know. I’d like to know you and what tools you’ve picked up that let you wrack such havoc inside cruel men’s bodies.
Are you like them? A cruel man? I can’t say; but I’d like to be able to reject the sentiment.
Each word dropped into L’s consciousness as water on a garden and flourished greenery within him until his interest became a full forest. Someone caught on to him; their fingers brushed his toes but couldn’t quite hold the tiger. Still, the letter’s writer was unknown and on this front, L couldn’t abide. He took to his laptop and rolled back footage upon footage until video of a man at Higuchi’s secretary’s desk showed. At all times, the man’s face was out of view and his voice so low, L couldn’t make out his exact words. Had the letter writer known he’d been watched? A subtle tingle wormed through L’s chest: he knew about the cameras, or suspected them; he knew Higuchi was next; and he knew L was listening, in some capacity.
But how much did this man—who still carried handsomeness in his stature, turned head or no, and had a whisper coated by sugared familiarity—actually know? L frowned and turned back to the letter, scanning it again. He then turned to Ryuk.
“If someone wanted to send a message with the Note,” he said, “how might they do so?”
Ryuk laughed, throaty and amused. “Few ways,” he demurred. “You’re a smart guy. You figure it out.”
L raised an eyebrow, but not an argument. After all, he was the world’s greatest detective; a smart guy who could figure it out. He set to work and by nightfall had a plan. As he finished, he imbued his last pen stroke with some warped hope—that the letter writer saw what his message truly was: not cruelty but a hand beckoning him closer. An invitation.
“A challenge,” L said, to himself, to Ryuk, to the young man whose face he didn’t know. “And an answer.”
“Is that the newspaper?” Light slipped in next to Kiyomi, who held ink-covered pages in front of her face, elegant nails curled against headlines like red slashed wounds. Their first period literature class—a dreaded requirement on their degrees which neither enjoyed—found him harried from waking up late. He was unpracticed in disordered sleep and didn’t know how to control panic when it seeped from his pores and into his routine; ever since he gave the letter off to that Higuchi, Light was aware to his core something might happen—something deadly, even.
Kiyomi tilted the front page down enough to show her disappointed gaze trained on Light’s perfect smile—beguiling by practice, not nature. “You can buy your own,” she said. “After all, you don’t want anything from me, much less information.”
“Don’t be like that,” he countered. “You know, I didn’t make any moves.”
“Don’t lie,” Kiyomi said. “Look,” she flattened the newspaper to the desk, and after glancing around, pointed to a large headline, “your little love note found its recipient.”
Light leaned over the paper and scanned the article. Phrases floated forward—a sex dungeon with the women freed by an unknown accomplice—and others were faded but intriguing—Higuchi succumbing to cardiac arrest after consuming an energy drink, a large latte and a bottle of caffeine pills. His eyes froze on one paragraph, detailing a letter found in Higuchi’s handwriting and tucked inside his pocket.
“Experts say the letter was written within an hour of the man’s death,” the article read. “It’s contents are, however, not addressed to anyone known to the victim but instead a mysterious figure called ‘letter writer.’ Beneath we have listed some of the letter, which was confiscated by police and edited for clarity.”
Kiyomi sighed. “You’re in real danger now,” she said softly. “We’re both in danger.”
“He responded,” Light said, breathless. “He wrote back to me.”
Dear letter writer,
I don’t want to alarm you or make it seem as though I am on a crusade. Far from it. This is just my job, and I am good at my job. I get rid of people doing terrible things, but time and resources don’t always play on my side. This is my way of prioritizing.
I’m not a cruel man; and I hope you never think of me as such. But understand I can’t tell you what my methods are. After all, where’s the interest in that for me? But I can give you something small, something to hold onto: without your face, I can’t harm you.
Speak to you soon,
X
Light’s heart thudded in his throat. “Do you still have that chart on you?” He asked Kiyomi, who brought out the papers with eyes warmed by the prospect of research.
“Of course.” She laid them out and shrugged in closer to Light. “What are we looking for? What do we do next?”
Light couldn’t answer. Around and around in his head echoed Speak to you soon in a voice he didn’t know. Yes, they’d speak again soon enough, but he just needed to find out what they’d talk about. Right now, the room was dark; it was all a matter of turning on the light and seeing the secrets in the room.

Chapter three : Mind if I join you ?
By the time I finished my assignment, birds were chirping and sunrays were piercing through the scraggy branches of the December trees. A pleasant fog had settled around school, covering  the park and the fields in a white blanket. Sitting by the windowshill, legs against the radiator, I was sipping my first tea/coffee of the day, but not of the night. My eyes were pricking with the familiar sensation of tiredness. Boy I knew this school was elitist but the amount of homework was impressive, I already missed sleeping. That was the main reason Mandy and I kept skipping parties, to be honest. I went half of the time to keep in touch with people, and be a little social. Mandy went more often and I didn't know how she could cope with that already infernal routine.
We were so busy painting and sewing that we napped whenever we had the time, every minute counted, we literally had no time to waste cooking or cleaning up the room we lived in. And the worst is that it wasn't even an excuse to our laziness, it was real.
Fabric of different colors and patterns were scattered accross the floor, a huge pile of canvas was pushed to a corner, our walls had my digits on them in the form of black dots because I didn't wash my hands after doing some charcoal drawing, and Mandy's sewing mannequin fully clothed in the middle of the kitchen always threatened to give me a heart attack whenever I went to the toilet and saw it in the corner of my eye. The good thing was that living together on campus and sharing a room was way cheaper than renting a place, and the legend was true ; art students really are broke. Sure it was smaller than we had expected, especially after filling it with all of our stuff, and we had to share showers and toilets with the other residents of the dorm but hey at least we had a little kitchen.
My phone alarm started ringing softly, and I immediately set if off, still gazing outside the windows at crows eating yesterday’s french fries and students already chatting, displaying posters for the Christmas school festival, and smoking in the designated area. Mornings really were for coffee and contemplation.
It turned out that my work paid off. Receiving compliments by the teachers was harder than expected but when they did congratulate me for my work, it felt twice as good. But that gigantic illustration got me running out of paper for the next assignment. Going to the school supplies store with a portfolio half my size was a pain in the ass, and feeling this enormous thing tug on my shoulder all day long was worst, but I had no choice. It was so unpractical that I accidentally kicked someone with it.
- Sorry I wasn't paying attention.
- No prob- Oh hey it's you.
- Josh ! Hi.
It was weird hearing his voice for the first time or at least talking for the first time, after having exchanged so many notes. I got cold just by looking at him, it's like he didn't even know it was Winter. Aside from a red and white flowered jumper, who definitely didn't seem warm at all, his tight jeans were cropped and he looked as extravagant as always. He had a very unique sense of fashion and I loved it, he really didn't look out of place in this school. A glance at his hands and I saw he came to buy some guitar strings. Before I could make small chat about it in order to break the ice, he saw me and addressed it, lifting the package in front of his face.
- That's for Jake, my brother. Playing the guitar isn't a part of my numerous talents.
So his name was Jake. Nice. I've been honestly so busy with work I had forgotten about him for a moment, but noneless mentally thanked Josh and his seemingly sixth sense for making things easier for me. The clerk was grumpy per usual, so we got out of the store before he could yell at us, and continued chatting in the hallway. It wasn't anything interesting, just getting to know each other a little. Much to my surprise, it wasn't awkward like I may have imagined it to be. Josh was a nice guy with great conversation and seeing him being at ease made me feel less shy too. He suddenly got in front of me and put a hand on my shoulder.
- So sorry about that ball of paper the other day, my pitcher skills are rusty.
- Not one of your talents either ?, I teased.
His expression softened before a small grin appeared on his face, nodding and shaking his finger like I just made a point. He gave me a light tap on the shoulder as the bell rang, cue for us that we should be in front of our respective classrooms.
- Let's meet here and have lunch together with Mandy, I'll show you real talent. We get out at 1 !, he added, running in the corridor past students to go to his next class.
Fuck, I really have to tell Mandy.
Having luch together wasn't exactly what I expected. But somehow, it made sense ?
After texting Mandy something along the lines of « Saw Josh while buying paper, he wants to eat lunch with us today ??? », I wondered how he knew our names and then remembered the teacher calling us last time because we were ''disturbing class''. Yeah no wonder Jake doesn't want to hang out with us. My eyes were on the clock the whole time I was in the workshop. Even without having to meet Josh, they were always. The atmosphere was heavy, nobody was allowed to say a word, not even « bless you » when another student sneezed. And it lasted four full hours. Thank God we could eat, drink and listen to music while painting (never understood this teacher's sense of priorities) otherwise I would've fell asleep on my canvas.
By the time I got out of my misery, Mandy was already waiting for me outside, assaulting me with questions. After little deliberation we thought it was best for us to run to our room to change, one of the pros of being in a boarding school. It was noon, and Josh said he'd go out at one, that let us some time to talk and wash away the paint from my arms.
- He said we had to meet them in front of the shop, I called from under the shower.
- What do you mean « them » ?
Turning off the water, I scrubbed my eyes. Yeah, what did he mean « we » ?
- I have no clue, he was in a rush. We should ask his number next time, if he wanna meet again.
- It'll save us three a lot of paper.
Letting out a snort, I got out of the shower, catching a clean shirt Mandy threw at my face for me to wear before going to meet Josh and whoever was with him. Boy oh boy was I not disappointed when I saw Jake's silhouette from the other end of the corridor. Panicking a little and trying to be discrete, I quickly glanced at the door behind me but Mandy caught it and put her hands on my shoulders to keep me from escaping this situation. It was so uncomfortable. The hallway was painfully long, just next to the cafeteria so sometimes someone would go out and slow us down, making things even more embarrassing. They made no move to meet us halfway but Josh interrupted his conversation with his brother to wave at us with a wide movement, shaking his arm in the air, which we replied by the tiniest gesture ever, the one you make at the supermarket when you see someone you really don't want to at the moment. That tiny wave of the hand, exactly.
- Hi ladies, I took the liberty of inviting my brother to the party, as he was feeling lonely without me.
- Not really, Jake interjected.
He greeted us with a smile and a charming nod, wearing actual winter clothes, in comparision to his twin. The dark oversized sweater and grey denim jacket looked good on him, like literally everything else, and I tried not to stare.
- Hi, I'm Jake, he said to cover Josh's pouting and complaints about him lying.
- I know, I half-whispered.
I got so busy staring at his brown eyes that I replied without thinking and now he was standing in front of me with a puzzled expression on his perfect face. Mandy poked me in the ribs, trying to save what was left of the chances of him wanting to have anything to do with us.
- Josh told us about you, she said with a convincing smile. Shall we eat ?
Not very subtle, but nice attempt to change topics.
- Oh yeah, let's go ! I have found the perfect place.
The ever enthusiastic Josh took the lead and we all followed after him as he showed and introduced every corner of the school like a real tour guide, only saying bullshit instead of real historical info, but judging by his interest in Art History class we weren't really shocked. What had us three surprised however was the place we were in when he exclaimed « Voilà ! ».
- It's a staircase, pointed out Jake.
- It's a place full of possibilities, corrected Josh.
Mandy gave me a look like they were both crazy and I could tell by her face she wondered how we got into that mess. Josh sat first and his brother, defeated, did the same, sitting by his side and motionning for us to join them. The patterned floor tile was cold as hell beneath me and I had so many questions I wanted to ask but didn't dare to do so-
- So why are we eating on the stairs ?
For a second I thought I had thought out loud but it was Mandy who broke the silence.
- See ?, Josh said to his brother, Told you eating in the park was best.
Jake shook his head like he couldn't believe it before looking at us.
- This crackhead wanted to have a picnic. It's literally freezing outside.
- So eating inside was your idea ?, I asked to made sure I understood.
With a nod, he took his backpack while speaking, unwraping his lunch from its aluminium foil.
- Yup. Looks like I'm the reasonable one. Didn't know we were gonna eat here though, he added with a little apologetic gaze.
- Well excuse me sir I did my best, Josh chimed in.
We couldn't help laughing a little, as Josh angrily tore the aluminium of his sandwich. What I also couldn't help was stealing glances at Jake who was sitting in front of me, by the window. It turned out the boy was less intimidating that I first had thought. Talking to him was nice, I had the feeling that he really care about what I said, looking me in the eye and nodding, listening intently before replying. He sounded like a quiet, composed, and cultured person, and I found his presence soothing. His low, raspy voice had a serene je ne sais quoi that I couldn't really explain. To top it off, his smile, just like his brother's, was mesmerizing.
- Still, said Mandy with his mouth full after someone made them move to use the stairs, you know we could've eat at the cafeteria, right ?
She teased and Josh started shouting again that he wanted a picnic, which made us all laugh because it was the hundredth time he had to justify his poor life choices.
- Oh yeah, I just remembered !
In a second, he calmed himself and his face lit up with the look of someone who just got a great (or terrible) idea. One thing I learned is that with Josh, it could've been both, we never knew. He fumbled in his bag in search of something, squirming, making a mess, giving his half eaten sandwich to Jake for him to hold and almost knocking him out with his elbow.
- I told you I'll show you real talent, he said with his head in his bag.
Four curious eyes turned to meet my gaze and I shrugged.
- He did ?, Jake wondered.
- Yeah, it made me freak out a little.
A little laugh escaped from his lips, and it was the cutest thing I had ever heard. Not that I'll admit it out loud. Thankfully, Josh interupted my staring contest with his twin and threw a bag of cheese balls our way. The sound it made almost covered the « Oh, not again » complaint from Jake and I quirked an eyebrow. Mandy opened the bag like she was asked to.
- Shoot, I'll catch.
Jake face palmed while Josh was already in position.
- That's the talent you were talking about ?, Mandy asked unsure. I don't know why, I should be surprised, but I'm not.
He was actually pretty good at it, if that was even something to be proud of. I could see her having a good time throwing chips his way and booing the rare times he missed.
- I swear they have after school contests with our brother.
Hearing Jake talking to me made my head jerk off of Josh. Brother ? Mandy caught the same info and paused the ball throwing to look at him.
- Do you guys have another brother ?
I took a sip of water while they were explaining, taking this opportunity to look at the hour just to make sure we won't be late to our next class as we were all in different buildings.
- Oh yeah, Sam, he's studying music too, but we're not in the same grade, said Josh. People often mistake him and Jake for twins even though he's the youngest.
This info almost had me choking on water imagining another Jake but fortunately, they mistook it for outrage that people would think that. By the time the bell rang, we learned that they all were staying in the dorms too, in another building. The twins shared a room together, whereas Sam and Danny, their best friend, shared theirs. We didn't exchange numbers, since Mandy forgot to ask and I was too shy to, but when we parted ways, they both left saying « See you later ».

It was a calm sunny day in New York, traffic was light which meant there wasn’t much honking to be heard and it just helped with the peaceful silence. You were in your room, reading one of your favorite books. Cuddled up in your warm fuzzy blanket, still in your pj’s, you decided today would be a lazy day since you had no plans ahead of you. Or so you thought.
A knock on your door causes you to look up from your book. As you’re about to reply, the door opens anyway without consent for the person to come in. You know for sure that this is Jane. The two of you share a nice apartment together, best friends since you were a little, and the brunette always knocks but never waits for an answer if she can come in or not.
She enters, a face full of smile and excitement.
“Well, come in.” You say, sarcastically.
“Come to Asgard with me!” She’s practically jumping off of her feet with excitement.
Confused by her statement, you set down your book then sit up in your bed. Did you just hear this woman right? Go to Asgard. Somewhere you’ve never been but have been dying to go ever since you’ve heard about the beautiful place. It’s something you’ve been studying for years now with Jane
“What?” You ask, eyebrows furrowed.
“Well, I know how you’ve been wanting to go for a while so last night I was talking to Thor about it, asking if you could go and all and guess what? He’s all for it!” She’s jumping up and down like a happy five year old. Obviously she can’t contain her excitement. “He consulted with his dad and he gave him the get go that it’s okay to bring you, this time.”
“Are you serious?” A huge smile is planted on your face as you flip over the covers, hopping out of bed.
“Yes, I am not even joking with you right now so get ready.”
Your eyes widen in astonishment.
“Wait, we’re leaving today? Now?” Your plans of having a day off had been canceled though you didn’t mind. You loved your comfy bed but going to Asgard was a far way better choice. It had just caught you so off guard that you’d be going as of now.
“Yes, we’re leaving in like ten minutes, Thor’s here.”
“Thanks for the heads up.” You began to scramble around in your gores, looking for a suitable outfit to wear.
Jane shrugged.
“Sorry, I didn’t find out until a minute ago now would you just throw something on? I’m excited for you to see everything there, it’s so beautiful.”
“What do they even wear in Asgard?”
“Honestly, it doesn’t matter. Just get dressed, we’ll be waiting.” With a quick grin, she’s out the door.
“Such a help.” You mutter to yourself then just throw on something casual and simple. A white cotton sweater with black jeans and knee high boots. You walked over to the mirror, to make sure everything looked alright. As you were about to began to adjust some things, Jane came rushing back into the room.
“Great, you look perfect, let’s go.”
There was no fighting this woman, so you complied and let her drag you out of your room and into the living room where Thor was. He was sitting on the couch, in human clothes. You had gotten used to this; him being here and all. He was like a brother to you, the two of you got a long very well. He saw you as a sister as well.
“Hey big guy,” You say.
“Hello to you, lady Y/N.” he stands up, pulling you into a big bear hug.
“How many times do I have to tell you to just call me by my name and not “lady Y/N?” It sounds weird.”
“Forgive me but it is how we formally greet each other back in Asgard though I don’t tend to hug any woman except my mother there so you and Jane are the lucky ones.”
“Mhm, I’m pretty sure you and Jane do more than hugging from what I hear.” You recall the sounds of them, all through the night doing God knows what. All you know is you’re never going to forget those nights where Jane and Thor get carried away. The loud moans from the both of them make you want to throw up.
Jane blushes and looks down while Thor seems to be quite the opposite. He’s glad to be hitting that ass every night.
“Well what can I say? Jane is a woman of vulnerability under my touch and-”
Jane claps and interrupts him before he can say more.
“Alright, time to go! No more discussion of our sex life or there won’t be one anymore.”
You laugh and it’s not a moment more until you guys are on the road. Jane is driving to the spot where you guys first met Thor and she hit him with the car. Oh how that was the funniest thing ever, who would’ve known that would lead to you actually going to Asgard right now at this very moment. You flood Thor and Jane (but mostly Thor) with questions of what Asgard looks like and what’s it like there and if it’s like your research. Sure Jane has told you everything there is to know considering she’s been there quite a few times but you wanted to hear it from the man who’s lived there for basically his whole life.
Thor just told you to wait until you get there so you sat back and tried to envision what you were in store for. Soon enough you guys are standing in the grass and Thor yells something about a Bifrost and you knew what a Bifrost was from your research. You hold onto him tightly, Jane on the other side and then you’re flying high in the air.
Afraid you’ll fall, you clutch onto Thor very tightly. Your heart is hammering out of your chest as you look up and around you and see a rainbow like shimmer. When you arrive in Asgard, your breath is taken away for you have never seen anything more beautiful than the scene above you. It was more than you imagined, more than you dreamed.
You gasp, grinning from ear to ear.
“Beautiful isn’t it?” Thor asks.
Loss for words, you nod, still taking in the sight of the place.
“Come on, let me introduce you to my family and then you can venture.”
Thor introduces you to Frigga, Odin and a few of his friends. They’re very kind people and your legs are shaking as you speak to the king and queen. It’s just that you had never met royalty and even though you were meeting them in a mystical world, it was still all very surreal. You can’t believe you’re actually here.
The first place you became really interested in was their library. What they taught the kids here was exquisite, more advanced then what they teach on earth. Thor and Jane had went on to do their own “thing”, trusting that you would be okay on your own so that left you alone in the huge library.
The library was Loki’s quiet place. To get away from everyone because he didn’t like anyone. All he ever hears is talk of his perfect brother, so why even bother to linger in the kingdom? The people of Asgard knew it to be Loki’s place so that’s why they never dared to go there.
Seeing you in his forbidden area had him angry yet you intrigued him. Beautiful, curvy slim waist with a nice ass. Loki was for sure an ass man alright. You’re struggling to reach a book so he comes to your aid, finding it the perfect opportunity to began messing with you.
“Now,” You jump at the voice and turn to your side to see a man. Tall, sleek black hair, pale skin but the hot type of pale. He was the drop dead sexiest man you’d ever seen. “I know you are not from Asgard by the way you dress, so may I ask who you are and what are you doing here, earthling?”
You gulp and turn to look at the man, towering over you. The desire to reach the book has vanished your mind.
“Well I came here with Thor. He wanted to show me Asgard.” You say, not breaking eye contact with him. He’s so damn cute, you’re usually one to not pay that much attention to men and focus on your investigations but this man was making you want to throw all those rules out the door. Yes, he was that fucking hot.
“Thor? Of course.” He grabs the book that you were trying to get and holds it out for you. “I don’t remember Thor ever bringing beautiful women to Asgard. If he had, I would’ve remembered a beautiful face such as yours.”
And that is the start of your relationship with Loki or whatever it was.You honestly weren’t sure what to call it. As you continued to visit Asgard more often, the more the bond between you grew. The endless flirting, the longing glances between each other when no one was looking. Leaving was the worst part but coming back was your favorite.
“You’re killing me, love.” He said, one day.
You were bent over picking up a book, you had “accidentally” dropped on the floor. You wore a skirt on purpose so your sexy lace panties could be seen over your round ass, the ass Loki loved to watch while you walked anywhere. To see it almost bare had his cock twitching with excitement and he fought the urge to bend you over the table and take you right there.
“Oops, I’m just so clumsy.” You say innocently, knowing what you were doing was driving him crazy. Just to mess with even more, you dropped another book in attempt to get the other. “Oh darn, I just keep dropping books.”
Loki’s done keeping restraint, all he knows is he wants to touch you now and the God of Mischief always get’s what he wants. He gets up from his chair, teleporting over to you. You don’t notice he’s there until you feel his cold hands around your waist, and his crotch on your ass. Your smirk to yourself at the reaction you got out of him. He pulls you so your back is to his chest.
“Feeling a little risque today, darling?” He says in your ear.
“Nope.” You say, pulling away from him. You set the books down on the shelf.  He groans lowly. “I’m actually feeling a bit.........bored. Are you bored?”
“Bored? With me? My feelings are infinitely hurt and no, I’m never bored when in the company of the most gorgeous girl in the world.”
Not impressed, you turn around, pretending to scan the shelves of books while walking away.
“I bet you call all the women here gorgeous.”
 He follows you.
“No, I don’t. No woman is as gorgeous as you are.”
Even though you saw Loki as this sultry arrogant asshole, you took notice of how his attention was never on any of the other women in the kingdom. None of the servants, none of the women from Midgard, his eyes only were always on you. And it was true, Loki only had eyes for you. He enjoyed the flirtatious games the two of you had.
“Yeah.....okay.” You loved toying with him, it was all part of the fun.
“Honestly, do you truly think,” He once again teleported in front of you so you had no choice but to stop walking. “Any women could measure up to your beauty?”
“I don’t know,” You shrugged then dangerously moved closer to him. You put a fingertip on his chest, twirling it around. “How about you prove it to me?”
Loki knew exactly what you had in mind. A cunning smile spread across his face and before you knew it, you were pinned against the wall, Loki’s hands on your waist. You gasp at the suddenness of everything. “
You, my dear, have no idea what you’re in store for.” he says wickedly and then he’s kissing you, hungrily and wanting. Weeks and weeks of lust pushed through him. This is all he’s wanted to do since the moment he laid eyes on you and you felt the same as well.
You kiss back, not caring of the possibility of someone walking in any minute to catch the two of you. Loki flicks his tongue over your bottom lip wanting to be let in but you smirk into the kiss and decide to tease him by not letting him. He groans into the kiss then moves his hand down under your skirt and begins to massage your clothed clit. You moan and he takes that as his chance to slip his tongue into your mouth, gaining his dominance.
  Asshole
You move your hand to his chest the other around his neck, wanting to touch him. You’ve been craving this for the longest time now, the feeling of Loki’s lips on yours, his touch, his fingers, all of it had your body heating up and wetness was pooling at your core. He was still rubbing you, softly and slowly but that didn’t last long as he pulled away from the kiss. He placed sloppy wet kisses all over your neck before sinking to his knees. You were startled by this action, not sure what he was doing.
“Relax, kitten.” He spoke softly, glancing up at you.
He reached beneath your skirt, then pulled your panties down. You stepped out of them then Loki took them, tucking them into his back pocket. As you were about to object to that, just to be stubborn, he placed a kiss to your thigh, and then another, and then another each one coming closer to your heat.
His lips were cold due to being a son of a frost giant and all but you didn’t mind. The contrast of temperature between his cold skin and your warm skin felt good.
He slid his hands to your thighs spreading them apart then didn’t waste anymore time as pulled up your skirt then captured your clit into his mouth, sucking. You bit your lip, not wanting to moan to give him the satisfaction that he was pleasuring you. He noticed and began licking over your glistening folds while gripping onto your thighs tightly. Fuck, it felt so good that you couldn’t help but let out a small soft moan.
He smirked to himself then continued on with his deadly acts. He delves deeper, licking past your folds and over your slit. Your hands involuntary grips onto his dark locks, a moan escaping your lips. He groaned in response, delving deep into your pussy. Your taste was like non other, and he couldn’t wait to taste what your juices tasted like flowing into his mouth. He pulled away placing a kiss on your inner thigh before sliding a finger into you, then adding another in after.
You threw your head back onto the wall, your whimpers following. He kisses your clit softly then begins to flick his tongue over it while thrusting his fingers in and out of you. Your breathing is ragged, your chest heaving up and down from the immense pleasure Loki is bringing you.
His hand moves to the back of your knee, pulling your legs further apart so he can taste more of you. He curls his fingers inside of you, your orgasm slowly approaching you as he does this. His tongue is fast, licking over your bundle of nerves bringing you close to the edge. Your grip on his hair tightens and you moan. Your walls clenched around his digits, his tongue still swirling figure eights on your clit, enticing pleasure within you.
His mouth was amazing, you didn’t know how to act. Soon enough you were coming onto his fingers and onto his face, letting out a loud relieving moan that rang all through the walls of the library. It really is good no one ever uses this library except for Loki. He continues to kiss on your clit, pulling his fingers out of you.
He throws your leg over his shoulder then is lapping at your juices not wanting to miss a single drop. Your hips jerked forward, sensitive from the previous orgasm but you still enjoyed the feeling of his mouth on you. He nibbled on your clit gently before placing a quick kiss on your pussy then pulling away.
He stood up so you were now face to face. His chin was dripping with your wetness. He licked his lips before wiping his face with the back of his palm.
“You taste divine,” He said, huskily. Your legs are still slightly numb and you’re still a bit breathless from that amazing orgasm.
He kisses your lips, hard and rough and you kiss back, wrapping your hands around his neck, deepening the kiss. You can taste yourself on his cold lips and that sends shivers down your spine. You moan into the kiss, loving his dominance. He pulls away from the kiss, leaning his forehead against yours.
“But I’m afraid I’m not done with you yet, darling.” Before you can speak he turns you around, applying a hard smack to your ass.
You yelp in surprise then Loki grabs your skirt dragging it quickly down your legs. You put your hands on the wall to steady yourself as you hurriedly step out of it. Next he unbuttons your blouse then slides it off of you, all of this being done very quickly. He’s so eager to be inside of you, and you’re eager to feel him inside of you, both of you were longing for this moment.
Next he unbuckles his pants, sliding them down along with his briefs. His cock is erect and you feel it against your butt causing you to moan from the interaction.
He kisses your shoulder then teases you, flicking the tip over your enlarged numb. You whine in anticipation.
“Loki, please.”
“What is that? Do I hear a plea coming from your sweet little mouth?”
Seriously? He was going to be his usual arrogant self now?
“Yes, just please. My king, please.” You know from what Loki has told you, he wants to rule the world so badly so you thought calling him that would spice it up.
The name sets him off and then he slams into you without warning making you cry out in pleasure. Your walls feel like heaven around him but he gives you a second to adjust. When you give him the get go he then once again thrust inside of you, his pubic bone bouncing off of your ass and then he does it again, not stopping. He grabs your hips tightly while you hold onto the wall for support, soft moans leaving your mouth.
You shivered as you felt the absolute thickness of Loki, pumping inside of you not ever imagining it to be this good. Sure, you dreamt of it, daydreamed of this very moment but never suspected that Loki would have the expertise to be this good. His godlike dick was also helping, sending you into a world of pure bliss. He was truly a God in every way.
Loki watched the way your beautiful ass bounced on his hardened dick, the way your wetness coated his shaft, and the feeling of your walls around him. It was all a beautiful moment that he never wanted to end with you. The way your angelic moans filled the air turned him on even more. He loved pleasuring you like this.
You whimpered as your legs were beginning to shake from the unstopping hard pleasurable thrusts Loki was bringing. The sounds of his skin slapping against yours echoed around the library, sweat broke out onto your bodies making the moment even more hot and bothered then it already was.
The fullness of him is heavenly. He groans then moves deeper into you. Oh, now you can feel him into the brim causing a tingle to erupt into your stomach, your libido rising like crazy.
Wanting to feel your skin even more, Loki yanks you to him roughly so your back is near to his chest. His hand moves to your throat, the other holding your breast. You can feel him deeper inside of you causing your eyes to roll to the back of your head, the pleasure becoming too much for you to handle.
You could feel his breath fanning on your ear, as he continued on to pummel into your pussy relentlessly. Your mouth was wide open in a silent moan. With each new thrusts, he rammed deeper making your body convulse just by that action. You felt it again, that same feeling deep down in darkest part of your body. You were going to come, soon.
Tightly your walls engulfed Loki’s cock and he groaned at the feeling. One hand came and rubbed over you clit fast building up your nerves, your orgasm approaching quickly.
“Oh, Loki, I’m-”
“I know dear.” He kissed your neck, licking and nipping and before you know it your orgasm is raging through you. You moaned out loudly. It wasn’t long until his cock twitched inside of you and spurring hot loads of come inside of you. His come mixes with yours and he doesn’t stop as he rides out both of your highs. Your eyes are hooded with lust.
Loki grips your neck harder, turning your head to the side to capture your lips in his as he continues to fuck you but slowly and sensually now. You moan into his mouth, relishing in this moment. He pulls away and pecks your lip. He pulls out of you as well then turns you around. Both of you are breathing hard from that amazing fuck.
“Was that enough proof?” He asks, a mischievous grin plastered on his face.
You wrap you hands around his neck pulling him close to you, so your noses are touching. “More than enough.”
Quick question for you guys, should I post with or without the gifs in between fanfics?

Don’t Leave - Newt Scamander x Reader
Tumblr media
Prompt: Newt is drunk and you have to take care of him
Warnings: A very drunk Newt, Fluff~
Y/N: Your name
A loud noise awoke you from your slumber on a chair causing you to fall over. You groaned rubbing the back of your head. Looking around, you remembered you were still in Newt’s suitcase. You tiredly glanced at the clock on the table. It was 11:32 P.M.
You grabbed your wand and shifted slightly, pulling yourself up. Rolling over , you yawned, but then you remembered as Dougal the Demise climbed on top of you.
“Shit,” you cursed and quickly stood up, holding onto him. You had forgotten to finish feeding the creatures.
“Sorry buddy,” you sighed, as Dougal climbed onto your shoulder, nuzzling his head into your neck. You lightly scratched the top of his head as he closed his eyes in bliss.
You quickly finished feeding the creatures and help settle them down before they went to sleep. Walking back to the chair you originally on, you paused. It has been too quiet.
Where was Newt?
If he had seen you asleep on the chair earlier, he would’ve carried you back to your shared bedroom and put you to bed. Or if he hadn’t noticed you he would’ve been humming a sweet melody to his creatures so that they could fall asleep faster.
You quickly walked to the stairs and took one last look at the creatures. Climbing out of the case, it was quiet. However, a loud sound of a bottle hitting the floor startled you. Taking out your wand, you proceeded with caution walking down the hallway.
“Y/N!” that familiar voice slurred behind you, grabbing onto you and pulled you back a couple of steps. You gasped and quickly turned around, falling into that person’s arms. You lifted your gaze and peered into Newt’s dazed eyes.
In his hand was a bottle of Ogden’s Olde Fire Whiskey placed in his right hand, swaying slightly. A lazy grin was plastered on his face and he peered at you.
“Well don’t you look ravishing,” he slurred, leaning on you causing you both to tumble to the floor. Groaning, you looked over at Newt on his back, staring at the ceiling.
“Newt,” You breathed, raising an eyebrow in suspicion. He slowly turned around, taking another swig of the brown liqueur. He made eye contact with you, raising his free hand and tracing your face with his index finger.
“I- What are you doin- nmp“
He pushed his index finger to your lips silencing you, moving it around on your lips. Newt gazed into your eyes, his eye drooping slowly.
“Shhh…” He chuckled to himself.
“Newt, do you know what time-”
He quickly covered his ears, shaking his head, his curls bouncing everywhere. “What’re you so loud for?”
You bit your lip, holding back your laughter. “I’m just- Newt are you... are you drunk?”
Newt’s hair was untamed and falling into his eyes, his bowtie is undone, and his vest wasn’t buttoned up.
“Mmm... I'm *hic* fiiine...” Newt slurred shaking his head innocently. He stood up, stumbling and walked to the chair in the dining room of your shared house. He slumped down into the chair, leaned on the table with his head resting on his propped arm.
You got off of the floor, and walked closer to him, pulling up a chair next to him.
“You’re really pretty,” he mumbled drowsily. He reached out towards your face and fixed a piece of hair. He sighed, happily with his eyes closed, and began to slowly drift off to sleep.
Puzzled, you sat there for a few seconds, looking at him. Light snores came from his mouth as he was slowly sliding off of his propped arm. You weren’t going to let him sleep here, but you didn’t exactly know how to get him to the bedroom either. He was a lot taller than you, and not to mention heavier. Nibbling on the bottom of your lip, you stood up.
Newt’s head soon slipped from his hand and slammed down onto the table, causing you jump from the loud impact. However, he was still somehow asleep.
“How the hell..-” you mumbled, astonished that he was still asleep.
The only way was to wake him and help him walk to the bedroom together. You lightly placed your hand on his shoulder and lightly shook him. He mumbled incoherent words.
“Newt, baby,” you whispered.
Newt, whose head had been previously facing downward on the table, shot straight up at the sound of your voice. He had the biggest smile you had ever seen spread across his face.
“Y/N!” He cheered and less then gracefully sprang up from his seat and quickly enveloped you into a tight bone-crushing hug, nearly knocking you both backwards. “I missed you!”
“C’mon, let’s get you into bed,” You smiled trying to help him to the bedroom, but Newt held onto your waist protesting.
“Nooooo,” Newt moaned, his eyes looked up to you, glazed. His once perky smile had become to turn into a frown. “You’re going to leave me and then I’ll be all by myself.”
“We live together, Newt. I’m your girlfriend,” You chuckled slightly. His eyes instantly lit up as he looked at with fascination.
“We doooo? You areeee? Wow, that truly is amazing isn’t it?”
You could barely contain your laughter. Nodding, you stood up, wrapping your arms around your boyfriend’s body and lead him towards the couch. You had him sit down and was about to walk away to get him a glass of water.
“Don’t leave,” he frowned and gripped your wrist, pulling you down next to him.
You found the entire thing extremely funny, Newt was pretty much the same as normal except he was a bit more of a teddy bear and needy. He’s never been this drunk around you.
“I’m just going to get you some water, okay?” you warmly smiled. He nodded, folding his hands in his lap sadly. He looked like a lost puppy, making your heartache- even though you’re literally just going to get him a glass of water less than ten feet away.
You walked to the kitchen, fetching him a cold glass of water. Walking back to Newt, he was watching you attentively. You sat down next to him and brought the glass to his mouth. He gulped it down quickly, a dazed look still covered his face. You leaned forward, placing the glass on the table.
Newt, still very drunk, began to ramble.
“This place looks really good.. I mean like reeeeally good- did you know what else is good? You,” he slurred, “Meeeeerlinnnn, you truly are a beauty to walk this Earth...”
You zoned out during his rambling. Eventually you placed your hand on top of head and began to absentmindedly run your fingers through his brown curls. Newt’s talking soon died down and he sighed happily at the feeling of you playing with his hair, only adding to the sudden wave of tiredness hitting him.
“Have I ever told you how much I absolutely adore you?” Newt purred, his voice becoming more and more inaudible as he slipped in and out of consciousness.
“No, I don’t think you have,” You said looking down at him as you continued to weave your fingers through his hair, careful not to get them caught on his curls.
“Bed?” You spoke gently, hoping that Newt would oblige.
“Y/N? I thi-think you’re right,” he says softly. “I might b-be a little bit drunk – just a little bit, like it’s a very tiny bit,” he chuckled, using his fingers to motion ‘a tiny bit.’
“I know, Newton,” You laughed. He held onto you, his head drooping a little bit. You stood up and rung his arms around your neck, pulling him up to his feet. You slowly began to walk to the bedroom.
It was slightly more difficult than you expected, every time you turned around he had wandered off or was about to fall over. He let out a random giggle and leaned down, placing a kiss on your forehead.
Sudden, Newt came to a stop. He crouched down slightly to meet your height.
“Y/N, w-we can’t go in there,” You looked up at Newt, he cupped his hand around you ear and started to whisper, “There might be some kind of monsters- no no... beasts in there.”
You shook your head and dragged him into the room you flicked the lights on, leading him towards the bed. You were slowly lowering him down but instead he completely fell backwards onto the mattress. You climbed on top of him and began to undo the rest of his vest and then onto his shirt. Newt grabbed your hands, placing them on his bare chest.
“Wrong kind of beast,” He winked, hiccupping straight afterwards.
“Newton,” you gasped, lightly ruffling his hair. You let out a slight chuckle, removing the shirt. “Take off your pants so I can put more comfortable clothes on you.”
You got off of him and turned around, heading towards the dresser. You pulled out more comfortable clothes for him to change into as you felt his eyes burning holes into your back. You turned around and slowly walked back to him. His messy waves of hair fell just above his eyes, as he looked up at you in wonder. He sat without any clothes on, except for his usual boxers.
You gently put his sweater over his head and each leg through pajama bottoms. Leaning forward, you kissed his head. Even when intoxicated, he still seemed to be as charming as ever.
His face then became depressed. “I’m sorry.”
Puzzled, his eyes began to glisten over with tears. You sat down next to him, rubbing his back and he took your free hand into his.
“I left you all alone with the creatures,” he frowned, mumbling, “ I’m just so overwhelmed. I shouldn’t have left you to do all the work by yourself.”
You cooed at him and brought him in for a hug. His head rested on your chest. He was being so vulnerable right now that it made your heart ache.
“Baby, it’s alright. I love the animals just as much as I love you. It’s really not a problem for you to leave me alone with them,” You reassured him. Resting his head on your lap, Newt shook quietly as he exhaled.
“The Ministry- they... they’re- they’ve been on me about my creatures saying how they all need to be locked away!” He sobbed quietly, squeezing your body tight to his. “But they don’t understand! They’re not dangerous at all! Just misunderstood, That’s all- They’re all I have, excluding you of course, and I just-”
“Newton baby,” you interrupted, running your hand soothingly through his messy hair, “Listen to me, they aren’t going to go anywhere near your creatures. Nothing is going to happen to them, okay? They’re safe with us.”
In his silence he sat up, looking at you with tear streaked cheeks, as you stared into his beautiful blue orbs. You lifted your hand up to his cheeks and wiped away the wet patches under his eyes. Slowly he began nodding to himself, as if he was having an internal debate.
“They’ll always be safe. I’ll never let a thing happen to them, just as I won’t let a thing ever happen to you,” You reassured him, pressing your lips to his, still tasting the liqueur on his breath. He looked up to you, once more, a shy smile beginning to form on his precious face.
“You’re right.” He spoke quietly this time.
Nodding, you helped put him under the blankets and elevated his head comfortably on a pillow. He watched you attentively as you shuffled towards the light switch.
“Wait,” he called, extending his arm out towards you, “Don’t leave, please.”
“I wasn’t going to leave you, Newt,” you smiled, flicking the light switch off and walking back over to him. You climbed under the covers and let Newt cuddle up to you, burying his head on your chest and slinging an arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him. You lightly scratched his head and kissed the top of it.
Soon enough soft snores were emitting from Newt, confirming he had finally fallen into a deep sleep. You closed your eyes, soon falling asleep along with him.
