Now, that COULD just be HIM being An Asshole? But let's be real! Unlikely. Rules/Laws get made for a REASON, generally. Usually because someone ruined it for everyone by being an asshole. Taking things too far.

You start OUT with the obvious Rules. Like "Don't Tear the Zone Apart." And "No Genocide of Literally Everything Forever You Fighty Little Assholes" but over time? You have too add stuff. Like "George is Forbidden to use the fax machine and he knows why" and "Ice Lairs and Fire Lairs have to be X distance apart AND YOU KNOW WHY"

And? IS there a central Governing body, regulating the Zone Rules? Nope! Pariah's in nappy time! BUT the manic, Iron fisted, Obsessions of THE LAW across time and space are sure willing to step up and help keep order. It... KINDA works!

And they MOSTLY have the same-ish Rules!

Like NO FUCKIN LIVING WORLD STUFF. Because? To GET such contraband? You'd have to break containment of the Zone, go THROUGH a random ass natural portal, that may or may NOT be safe, may or may NOT ever RECONNECT to the Zone, to literally terrorize the unsuspecting living souls (assuming you can FIND any), on the other side, JUST to drag that shitty candy bar back home.

Leaking ectoplasm the whole time. Poisoning the air, land, and sea. Making NEW ghosts where there might not have been any. Effectively making you their deadbeat parent. Which is premeditated child abandonment. And you DEFINITELY didn't PAY for those objects. Thief.

hey, so im Palestinian and a strong activist for my people's liberation. i wanted to ask for some info/advice on avoiding antisemitism in my activism for Palestine. im on anon bc i don't want to be called a racefaker for caring about Jewish ppl. i know antisemitism is on the rise right now (and generally over the past few years) and i want to make sure i'm not unintentionally contributing to it.

Hey there! I wanted to start by genuinely thanking you for asking this question. Partially because I don't actually get any well-intentioned or helpful questions in my inbox anymore, but also because I understand the amount of bravery it takes to reach out with a question like that at a time like this.

Next, I want to apologize to all my followers who hate long posts. Judaism is a very complicated ethnoreligious group, antisemitism is a very complicated form of bigotry, and the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is arguably the most complicated international issue that has ever existed. I'm going to try to go through everything as succinctly as possible below the cut-- I am also going to ask other Jews to contribute to and make edits to this list as needed.

And finally-- I'm writing this as though I were speaking to someone with very little knowledge of the subject. I understand that as a Palestinian, you probably know a lot about what's going on here. But I want to make sure that I'm covering bases for anybody else who might need to use this post. So if you're like, Yeah, Obviously I Knew That. Please remember that a fuckton of people on tumblr are engaging in Israeli criticism without obviously knowing that.

There are two primary forms of antisemitism in anti-Zionist spaces-- antisemitic conspiracy theory, and criticism of Israel that no other country receives. The first kind is the easiest kind to pick out, and it makes a nice bulleted list, so we'll start there.

Dual Loyalty. A global stereotype that has skyrocketed since the establishment of Israel, but it's been around for a lot longer than that. Simply put, it's the idea that Jews are more loyal to Israel (or some global secret kabal) than we are to the countries we currently reside in. With I/P, it manifests as the idea that All Jews are directly responsible for Israel or the idea that All Jews secretly support Israel. If you see a Jew who isn't directly engaging in I/P topics, don't ask them what their stance is. Plenty of us have never even been to Israel, and it's fucked up to assume that we're all experts in geopolitics.

The Holocaust was a Fabrication or a Lesson. The idea that Jews made up the Shoah has been around since the Shoah was still happening, and it's always been ridiculous. Today, you'll see three primary lines about this. Either it's that Jews made up the Shoah as an excuse to establish Israel, that the Jews deserved the Shoah because of what's happening in Israel today, or that the Jews "should have learned their lesson from the Holocaust" because now Jews are "the new Nazis". Frankly, I wish goyim would stop treating the deaths of millions of Jews like a TV show. Palestinian deaths are genuinely horrible, but this isn't some kind of "narrative parallel" to the Shoah.

The Kazars Theory, or All Jews are White. This is the DNA test nonsense. The idea is that Israel (or Jews at large) are only pretending to be indigenous to the Levant and that secretly Jews as a whole are actually indigenous to Eastern Europe. It's a lie, started by a German professor of Russian history in the early 1800s. Meanwhile, the vast majority of genetic, historical, and archaeological evidence points to Jewish origins in the Israeli/Palestinian region. There have been literal hundreds of genetic studies on this. Most of them suggest that Jews, even "white" Ashkenazim, are nearly genetically identical to Palestinians.

World Domination. The idea that Jews control the world began with the Protocols of the Elders of Zion in 1903. If you're encountering criticism of Israel that suggests that world governments, particularly European or American ones, are being controlled by Jews, you've got yourself antisemitism. White supremacists like to use the term "Zionist Occupied Government" or "ZOG" as shorthand for this conspiracy. The next two points are born out of this same ideology.

Controlling the Media. The idea that Jews are in charge of Hollywood and/or major news organizations around the world. Regarding I/P, I've seen a bunch of people say something like "Western media outlets won't cover this! (Because you know who controls them!)" only to look online and see... Western media outlets covering it. See also: "My source is tiktok! I don't trust the news!" While it's obviously a fair criticism to say that some Western news outlets certainly have a pro-Israel and anti-Palestinian bias, it's certainly not every single one of them. Reuters and the AP are once again my go-to's here.

Controlling the Financial World. I haven't actually seen this come up regarding I/P, but considering how things have been going, it's only a matter of time. We don't control the banks. We don't control the stock market. We're not in charge of American aid being sent to Israel. HaShem knows that if we controlled all the money, I'd certainly be living larger than I am now...

Those Bloodthirsty Jews. This one arguably started with Blood Libel in the 1100s, when Christians started accusing us of stealing and eating their babies. Straight up, I have met Christians who still believe this in 2023. You see this a lot with I/P-- the Al Ahli Hospital is the biggest example. More than a month later, most reliable intelligence organizations agree that a misfired Hamas rocket landed in a parking lot, killing about 100 people. But a ton of people are still saying that Those Bloodthirsty Jews intentionally bombed the hospital dead on, killing 470 people. I want to be clear-- Israel is killing a lot of civilians. But if you see a bandwagon of people focusing on the one group of deaths that Israel probably actually didn't cause? Consider why.

Causing wars, revolutions, and calamities. Hamas has straight-up got this one in their founding charter. No, the Jews are not responsible for any major global conflicts, revolutions, or counter-revolutions that don't directly involve Israel. We didn't do WWII. We didn't do the October Revolution. See above-- we're not secretly plotting massacres on Shabbat. A lot of people are saying that Netanyahu and Likud let Hamas in to justify the invasion of Gaza... I'd be shocked if that was the case. All evidence points to a classic intelligence failure. We're not orchestrating bloodbaths.

Section 2: Criticisms only levelled at Israel

It's important to recognise that Israeli civilians are no more collectively responsible for the actions of the Likud coalition than Palestinians are collectively responsible for the actions of Hamas. No Palestinian deserves to be stripped of their rights to self-determination in their ancestral lands because of the October 7th attack. Likewise, no Chinese person deserves to be displaced from China because of the CCP's human rights violations in Tibet, Uyghur and Hong Kong. No Russian person deserves to be ethnically cleansed from Russia because of the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine. But plenty of people do believe that Jews should be stripped of their rights to self-determination in historically Jewish indigenous lands because of the actions of the Israeli government.

After October 7th, I've seen people argue that Israeli babies deserved to be kidnapped because of their national origin. I've seen people argue that Israeli women deserved to be sexually abused because of their nation of origin. I've seen people argue that the seven million Jews living in their ancestral homeland deserve death or displacement because of their nation of origin. Justifying or allowing brutal harm against people because of their national origin is hateful.

I want to make this part very clear-- I do not have an issue with calling out Israeli war crimes or crimes against humanity. But I do have an issue with treating Jewish civilians differently than civilians of other nations responsible for similar horrors. Amplifying bias against a particular group because of that group's nation of origin is called bigotry. Taking a stand against Israeli settlements in the West Bank is anti-Zionism. Collectivizing the label of "white colonialism", and forcing that label upon refugees forced to move to Israel, or Mizrahim with uninterrupted 8,000-year histories in Israel, is antisemitism.

Part 3: Moving Forward

So where do we go from here? If advocating for the destruction of Israel is advocating for the elimination of Jewish self-determination in our ancestral lands, but advocating in favour of the Israeli government is advocating for the elimination of Palestinian self-determination in your ancestral lands, then we must find some middle ground. A solution that allows seven million Jews and five-and-a-half-million Arabs to share the same holy land, without fear of persecution, displacement, or death. For me, this means a few things.

First of all, the recognition that most Israelis disagree with Netanyahu's approach to Palestine, and most Palestinians disagree with Hamas's approach to Israel. And that brings up a question-- why are Likud and Hamas in charge of Israel and Gaza respectively if most people disagree with them? Without getting into the complicated intricacies of the Knesset and the PNA on an already very long post (and without explaining your own government to you), the simple answer is international funds.

Israeli crimes against Palestinians are bankrolled by American Evangelical Christians, who believe that when Palestine is gone, all the Jews will go to Israel, and Jesus will come back to kill the world's infidels. They actually fucking believe that. Meanwhile, Hamas is bankrolled by Iran, which believes that the more often Jews and Sunni Muslims kill each other, the easier it will be for Iranian Shiite Jihad to take over the world. They actually fucking believe that.

So what steps can we take during our advocacy? Not for the destruction of Israel nor the destruction of Palestine, but for America and Iran to get their noses out of our damn business. I genuinely believe that a defunded Likud and a defunded Hamas will allow Israelis and Palestinians to work together for a peaceful two-state or joint-rule solution. Something that will keep my Palestinian friends from feeling like they can't safely travel from Jaffa to Tel Aviv. Something that will allow my Jewish family to visit and pray at the Cenotaphs of Isaac and Rebecca and the Temple Mount. Something that will let Israeli children from Kibbutz Nirim and Palestinian children from Khan Yunis play on the same playgrounds together, instead of sheltering from missile fire.

Frankly, we nearly had that when the Supreme Muslim Council and the Assembly of Representatives began collaborating against the British Mandate instead of against each other. Clearly, it's possible, we just need to stop being pitted against each other by foreign powers.

It’s funny that Bylers are so often accused of being delusional, because I was at my most delusional when I was anti-Byler.

I spent most of S4 refusing to acknowledge that Will had romantic feelings for Mike, despite knowing damn well what all that love triangle imagery and sad gay pining was implying. I convinced myself it was just bros before hoes drama; that perhaps Will wanted to come out to his best friend but felt nervous after six months of radio silence following “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls!”

The van scene forced me to accept that he really was in love, and it pissed me off because what was even the point of making him fall for a straight boy?

Mike’s bizarre “no homo” behaviour was clearly a symptom of growing up in a conservative 80s household, and witnessing Will’s sacrificial act of love in the van was the shitty lesson he needed to get over his homophobia.

I saw a typical straight male protagonist in an 80s coming-of-age film getting to coast his way to self-actualization on the back of queer suffering; a cruel and homophobic trope I thought we’d moved past by the year 2022.

But then the NINA reunion scene rolled around--

--and I immediately picked up on the heavy parallels between Mike and Will in how they greeted El. The realization hit me like a tonne of bricks: Mike feels the same way about her as Will does.

I thought, “wait, does this mean I was wrong about...? Oh my god. No way.

No fucking way.

Will was in love with El this whole time?? What the fuck, he’s been gay since S1 and she’s his sister this is BULLSHIT I will personally strangle the Duffers--”

Heteronormativity is a hell of a drug, kids.

Let this be a lesson to those of you who think media illiteracy is to blame for Byler denial -- how well someone understands the mechanics of storytelling is irrelevant if they insist on treating Mike’s supposed heterosexuality as an axiom instead of an evidence-based conclusion. The issue lies with bias, not literacy.

I was stubbornly anti-Byler because I knew I’d immediately fall in love with this ship if I allowed myself to have hope it could be canon, and the general state of queer rep in mainstream media meant I was all but guaranteed to get hurt if I was so stupid as to have hope. But in my desperation to cling to the “safe” heteronormative outcome, I only ended up hurting myself with my own silly assumptions.

We’ve seen both canonically gay characters in the show make exactly this mistake, needlessly hurting themselves with their silly but self-defensive assumptions about their love interests.

Stranger Things absolutely nails its depiction of the subtler ways internalized homophobia can manifest -- Will may feel like a mistake and be prone to beating himself up, but he isn’t some pitiful self-loathing queer who wishes he was straight, either. He’s just so crushed by heteronormativity that he accepts it as an inescapable fact of life and lets it guide his beliefs and actions.

Don’t get me wrong: Will, like Robin, is very sensible for being cautious in such a horrifically bigoted environment -- trying to openly defy that level of homophobia by yourself, especially when you’re young, is a bad idea.

But unlike Robin, he clearly struggles to accept that he has the right to chase his same-sex love interest. He's no longer simply exercising caution, but conforming to homophobic standards -- much in the same way I thought I was sensibly refusing to be queerbaited, when really I was just agreeing with the heteronormative status quo.

I realize now that this is the real reason Will was written into a homophobic 80s trope: not to teach Mike an outdated lesson in acceptance, but to maneuver Will into position for the lesson he’s going to learn in S5 about resisting conformity.

Will needs to learn that castrating himself to make straight people comfortable is a bad idea too. Not only is that a miserable way to live his life, but what sort of world is he leaving for the next generation of queer kids if he never questions these homophobic standards?

It’s just the cycle of abuse scaled up to the societal level.

This is what gives me confidence in Byler endgame. Queerness isn’t just an incidental element of Will’s personal arc, but suffuses the show to its very core -- it’s in its themes, its allegory, its characters.

So Will getting the boy isn’t just nice fan-service for Byler shippers, but a necessary ending if the show’s most important lesson is to land:

That it’s rewarding to make the difficult choice of standing up to bigotry in the face of forced conformity. Of choosing love.

Could it be the case that I was right the first time, and Stranger Things is going to turn out to be yet another heteronormative mainstream show that doesn’t commit to its own themes? Sure, maybe. But that wouldn’t invalidate the valuable lessons this show has already -- and apparently accidentally lol -- taught me.

Anyone who calls us deluded for hoping a mainstream show is going to have a gay pairing as its main couple just doesn’t realize -- or doesn’t care -- that they’re contributing to the very problem they’re describing.

~ 🌷 Witchy things you can do to honour yourself, your craft and your deities! 🌷 ~

~ 🌷 This will be a long post! 🌷 ~

- Spend time in nature (go hiking, meditate outdoors, collect some river water, make some sun water, plant something etc)

- Interact with your pets (example, dogs are often associated with Hekate so you could play with them or take them on a walk etc.)

- Donate to a shelter or charity in the name of your deity.

- Create a protection charm to add to your dog or cat’s collar. Our companions need protection sometimes too!

- Do your self-care as an act of devotion to yourself and your deity (you could do your skincare as devotion for Aphrodite for example.)

- Have a cleansing bath or shower. You can create a pouch full of cleansing and protective herbs to use.

- Make a piece of artwork for your deities. It could be a painting, clay vase, etc.

- Make a playlist of songs that give you positive energy or remind you of your deity.

- Make a journal or scrapbook about the things you love about your craft to remind you why you are practising.

- Do a daily card pull in the morning. This can be to see how your day will go or what you should be focusing on etc.

- Stir intentions into your drink in a morning (anti-clockwise to remove negativity, clockwise to bring in positivity. You can also say what you wish to manifest for that particular day. You may need an extra boost of inspiration for example.)

- Do some spell work with your deity. Ask them to give you aid with it or to protect you whilst you are doing it.

- Consider enchanting an item. It could be jewellery, a plant, a decorative item in your home etc.(If you would all like, I can make a post of how I personally like to enchant objects.)

- Tidy up your home. This one may seem a bit odd but please read my explanation as to why it is important to take care of your home. Different rooms in your home can be associated with different parts of your life. If you want to manifest something in part of your life, You need to take care of your home in order for your manifestation to work. Your kitchen is connected to your health and health of your household. Your bathroom is connected to your finances and the flow of finances in your household. Your bedroom is connected to the happiness and prosperity of your romantic relationships. Your living room is connected to your relationships with your friends and family.

- Learn how to read candles. Candles are commonly used as an offering to deities and for manifestation workings but sometimes you can have other entities trying to communicate with you via the candle flame. I personally have had ancestors messing about with candles, Not just deities.

- Use colour magick associations when picking out your outfit for the day. For example black is most commonly used as a protection colour.

"I want what Elain wants and she wants Azriel"

Is a claim I often see e/riels use to claim why they are "pro Elain" and implying that if you ship Elain with her mate because "she clearly doesn't want him" then you are anti Elain.

So yeah this whole post is why that's bullshit.

First let's get some things straight that we all can agree are facts.

1. Elain had a crush on Azriel. It's clear by their looks and touches and her showing body language that she wanted to kiss him in the bonus chapter. It's unclear whether that crush survived post her tears over his rejection and giving the necklace back as they had no canonical interactions post solstice.

2. Elain does not want to address the bond right now and avoids Lucien. Her feelings about Lucien specifically and what she thinks about the bond are unclear.

Now that we got that out of the way, the assertion that you are the most pro Elain because you ship her with Azriel is quite a stretch. I'm sure you like Elain, as do I, but you do not hold some moral high ground because of who you ship her with.

First, let's discuss the idea that you have to support who Elain wants. People can want all kinds of people who are not right for them for a lot of reasons. It's a common experience for many to want the wrong guy. To have a crush and think they're the best and it'll all work out only to have your heart smashed by the cruel reality that they were wrong for you or didn't want you the way you did. It's also common to hate your friends' boyfriends and husbands because they're assholes despite how much they "want" them.

People's feelings change. Feelings are fickle.

In SJM's canonical world, mating bonds are not.

It makes sense that Elain, after going through her horrible rejection by the man she actually wanted and loved, Graysen, would not be ready to face what having a mate means. I'm sure it felt like infidelity to her, especially if she does desire and feel a pull towards Lucien like every other female with a mating bond has in this series. Her avoidance of Lucien can mean a lot of things, including that she wants him even if she mentally isn't ready or feels she shouldn't.

It also makes sense that she would seek out and find herself in a rebound crush with someone who is in her proximity and is low risk. Azriel doesn't come with the pressure of being her fated soulmate. He's just a dude. A dude who is pretty and paid some attention to her.

So yeah, I get why she wants him. Doesn't mean I think he is right for her.

Why isn't he right for her? To make a long post short, Azriel often undermines Elain. He diminishes her need for help when she's clearly depressed (ACOWAR), and he speaks for her and directly contradicts her wants (ACOSF, scrying). He is entitled to her without merit (the third sister line, bonus). He ignores her wishes to avoid violence and wants to kill people who are important to her (wanting Graysen killed, saying he'd kill Lucien in a blood duel - we know canonically if a mate dies it is like losing half of your soul). He thinks very little of her past his lustful fantasies (bonus chapter) and even to the point of projecting his own self-hatred when he looks at her skin (bonus chapter). Elain is symbolic for him of the thing he covets most (a mate), and his crush on her is a manifestation of his psychological need to pursue unavailable females because of his self worth (friends who will never romantically love him or a female with a mating bond). Basically they are a recipe for a toxic relationship full of avoiding real personal healing.

So yeah sorry, even if Elain wants to kiss him I'm not shipping her with someone like that just because she "wants" it. I would rather see her have a story where she discovers who she is and what being Fae means to her, which means directly addressing not only her powers (hello let her scry) but also addressing her mating bond head on by getting to know the male that she will always have a pull to, no matter if she rejects the bond or not. Elain is a fictional character with a narrative arc. Her wants now will not always stay static.

For me, as someone pro Elain, I want her to give herself a chance at a forever kind of love, one with a soul to soul connection and an eternal devotion. I want her to experience that unconditional love she so desperately craves. I don't want to read her choosing just some regular dude who will probably drop her the second his mating bond snaps anyways. She deserves a mate. Even if she doesn't know or understand that yet.

And quite frankly, I think once Elain does learn not only who Lucien is but the way he thinks about her and how devoted he is to her and only her, she will want him soon enough. I don't ship for characters' frivolous crushes in the now. I ship for their potential with the right person. The person who will see them starving and depressed and worry about their well being rather than what their powers can provide them. Who will hear their vision and cross an ocean because they believe in it. Who will fight across a battlefield just to make sure they're okay. Who will even push down their own needs and wants to give them space because that's what they want right now.

You know what that means though. If you're pro-Elain for wanting what Elain wants, then Lucien is the most pro-Elain person there is. And why wouldn't he be? He is her mate after all, and he will do anything for her.

So yeah, that's who I want for Elain, and I think that makes me pretty pro-Elain too.

i did watch that titkok and i assumed by the screenshot it would be about like. how autistic gay men have pretty privilege but it's more about how it's weird to be conventionally attractive and autistic because people flirt with you because you're hot but than get different opinion on you when your autistic traits manifest, which is fine i guess, but the tiktok does still have this air of "gay men focus too much on hookups and not enough on long term romance" and "gay men care more about appearances than other lgbt people" which both kind of annoy me, for kind of difference reasons but i think you get it.

I honestly just wish he titled or conceptualized this as "autism and flirting" without turning this into some perfunctory exercise in checking privilege. How is one supposed to talk about their "pretty privilege" without it sounding like a joke? Not to be an anti social justice warrior, but you also can't say anything about gayness on a lot of social media without having to bring up the "unique" callousness of gay men. I'm not saying people should just ignore any issues, but it leads to so many bad faith discussions and frankly scares anxious young adults out of living offline queer lives. To me, the moralizing over promiscuity is silly in this context not just because I disagree, but because cruising environments are a great way to bypass the minefields of polite conversation. I was just talking about this with a mutual who said "we're all nonverbal at the glory hole."

chapter 1 : love is a lie, i loved that lie

synopsis : anti romantic, college student choi yeonjun who thinks he’s seen everything in a relationship, promising himself that he won’t go through another relationship ever again to prevent himself from going through another heartbreak. that was until he sees yn, a classmate, chasing his heart. will his walls be enough to scare yn away, or will they continue chasing yeonjun with all they have ?

yeonjun walked into his first class of the day, americano in his right hand, tote bag hanging off of his left shoulder.. although he stopped as soon as he walked in, realizing that him and yoojung had the same class. he wasn’t necessarily surprised, after all him and yoojung had met because they were both doing a fashion design major.. however he had somehow forgotten, the problem also lied in the fact that it was almost a full class, meaning nearly all the seats in the lecture room were full.

yeonjun’s eyes examined the room, he couldn’t just pray that yoojung didn’t show up, because what if his manifestation failed and then he was stuck sitting next to a cheater. he couldn’t help but think how many times he was sitting next to her a day after she had cheated on him, how many times had he kissed her after someone else’s lips had been on hers. yeonjun bit his lip, chewing on it, deciding to play it safe. finding an empty seat to one of his classmates. not paying much attention to who it was, all he knew was that he had never seen them before. little did he know that the person next to him was completely fangirling over him, yet they somehow managed to keep their composure.

yn woke up today, thinking it was just gonna be another day full of lectures, admiring choi yeonjun from afar, and then eating before going to sleep. had someone told them that they were going to be sitting next to THE choi yeonjun for their first lecture of the day then they would have probably pinched themselves thinking it was another silly little daydream.

however, yn also woke up in a particularly magnificent mood. the sleep they had gotten was beyond being able to explain, their feet did not immediately get hot after waking up which usually made them get up earlier attempting to get rid of their hot feet condition. yn stayed in bed a little longer after being woken up from their noisy alarm. the walk to uni was not unbearable due to the bright sun or the freezing wind, rather it was a perfect mix of the two, the sun managed to not blind them the minute they stepped outside, and the cold breeze was much more bearable than they had expected. and before entering the lecture room, soobin, their baking buddy, had finally agreed to give them a handful of small little fruit tarts, which they had already ate half of them. and now- choi yeonjun was sitting right next to them.

while yn was bouncing their leg in excitement and nervousness, yeonjun was in the complete opposite situation, yes he was also bouncing his leg, but more due to nervousness, he really hoped that yoojung would not show up, he knew that he would have to face her at some point but he truly wished that it wouldn’t be today.

yeonjun’s wishes, however, were not met. the wooden door creaked open. yoojung walking in, her expression was noticeably worried, anyone in the room could connect the dots, yoojung and yeonjun had obviously broken up, or fought, but it was very obvious. especially when yeonjun and yoojung were constantly by each others side, their relationship was very publicly known, they always sat next to each other. and even though your wishes were being fulfilled, you couldn’t help but feel yourself worry over the couple.

even though it worried yn, they couldn’t help but come up with the idea of distracting the boy next to them. “hey, do you have some of the notes from yesterday ?” you asked, quite worried about the confrontation, you didn’t want to look like a creep nor did you want it to look like you were trying to take advantage of the fact that he had just fought with yoojung.

“.. i do,” it took him a moment before he replied, his blonde hair moved quickly as he reached into his tote bag, his americano waiting right on top of the table that multiple students shared. yeonjun’s hand lingered around his bag.. where was his ipad, the one he had written all of his notes in ? had he not put it in his bag last night before going to bed, although to be honest, last night was definitely not the best, after witnessing his girlfriend cheating on him, he went back to his place with kai, who took care of him throughout the night. “..not, i’m so sorry.”

yeonjun picked up his head, eyes finally meeting yours for the first time. your heart couldn’t help but pound, he was handsome from afar and it was even more unbelievable that he was this ethereal.

“it’s okay, i didn’t really need them. i just noticed that you looked a bit- uncomfortable.”

“oh- thank you.. ah- also can you send me your notes later.”

“y-yeah, i can.. but umm.. i hope my note taking system doesn’t bother you too much. i tend to write my notes a bit differently..”

“it’s fine, i’m the same way. oh should i give you my number ? it’d be easier than taking pictures of your notes.”

“whatever you’re more comfortable doing is fine, if it’s more efficient then i don’t mind.” you quietly spoke, realizing that the lecture had started. you watched as yeonjun signaled you to hand over your phone, copying down his phone number onto your contacts.

and yoojung could only watch your interactions from afar; the smile on yeonjun’s face as the two of you giggled over somethings which she didn’t know what the subject was. she really regretted last night, had she been more careful then she wouldn’t be in this situation.

Yes, I said Jimin will always be there for his baby. Always has been, always will. I said, people were expecting Jimin to join MS as soon as he was done with FACE. And I said he was never going to do that. I said he was gonna be around for Golden come what may.

So Jikookers wanted Jimin to be there today and he wasn't. Yeah, that happened. And we are disappointed. But it is what it is.

This isn't some gotcha moment y'all. Jikook haven't changed one bit. We thought Jimin would be there. We manifested it. He wasn't, we have accepted it and are moving onto the next thing. This doesn't change anything about who these two men are to/for each other.

So Jimin didn't come to the concert. It doesn't mean he didn't see JK this morning and wish him luck. Doesn't mean he didn't see him after. And because he couldn't be there he made sure to not only tune in but also comment, and show his support. Still.

Jikookers' wish didn't come true. So what?

My point stands and will remain standing; Jimin aint enlisting until JK is done. He ain't going nowhere, will be around to support yes, his baby. And if he has work to do while he waits then so be it. He won't sit around doing nothing. This is Jimin we are talking about. He's a workaholic. Has admitted this himself. Personally as someone who experiences much more daily suffering than the average person I am deeply uncomfortable with the mere idea of "eliminating suffering" because it treats "positive" experiences like love and joy and happiness as more meaningful. In my experience this is done pretty much exclusively to the detriment of people like me.

Because by acting like suffering inherently decreases the value of someone's life you are implying that lives like mine aren't worth living. And maybe it's just me but I take offense to that! Sure my life isn't perfect and there are a lot of things I wish I didnt have to deal with but this life is mine and I'll be damned if I let other people tell me it's not good enough!

Humans weren't designed to exclusively experience pleasant things. Suffering is part of being alive! And I would not trade that for anything!

Ultimately its a facet of toxic positivity, and it makes me very very nervous. Because the people who are suffering the most always seem to be the ones thrown to the wayside for fancy little hypothetical "innovations" like this. Getting rid of suffering is quite likely impossible but that doesn't mean the people backing the idea won't just put on some horse blinders and pretend they don't see the people who would prove it didn't work.

I was about 12 years old the first time somebody told me I was too depressed to be around and it was catastrophic for my mental health. I just don't think that applying that on a worldwide scale is exactly revolutionary ya know?

The ultimate manifestation of this idea is in anti-natalism (people who think it's actively bad and wrong to have children) and people who believe in this idea are often actively pro-eugenics and just...anti-human.

"eliminate suffering" inevitably ends up at calling for extinction of all life, or at least extinction of human life, and there are people out there who think we should go extinct!...and I think we need to be firmer about calling this extremist and harmful, instead of treating it as a philosophical position to be considered seriously

like, even if voluntary human extinction just involved humans choosing not to reproduce, it's still going to fuck you up to go around looking at other humans and believing that it's bad that they're alive. yes, "existence is bad" I guess is one of the basic possible options to come to when asking questions about life and meaning, and I see how people start feeling like there is a "pro-natalist agenda" or some shit because it's something we don't really talk about.

but...believing that a universal genocide would be a good thing isn't that different from believing a genocide of one specific group would be a good thing.

And "no one should reproduce" is not really any better than "everyone should reproduce," because both violate the basic principle that other people reproducing is none of your damn business.

I am generally really uncomfortable with how so many environmentalism and climate change mitigation proposals focus on human population growth as a main cause of climate change.

There's no real evidential basis for the numbers that get cited as the ideal population for Earth, like supposedly 2-4 billion is the max the Earth can support if everyone lives a "comfortable middle class lifestyle"—What The Fuck Does That Mean? Where does it come from? Is it something we actually need or want? The vast majority of humans on Earth aren't living a "middle class lifestyle."

I want to see breakdowns of complex simulations explaining how much biomass the Earth can actually support, instead of arbitrary bullshit like that.

But from everything I've read, producing enough food for the world population is not even remotely a problem. Capitalism is the problem. Huge companies controlling the food supply and keeping the countries that produce food in poverty is the problem. Technological solutions are important but they will not fix the current problems, just like Eli Whitney's cotton gin didn't eliminate slavery.

Everyone assumes that the system is working as efficiently as it possibly can to meet the material needs of people, and that is so terribly wrong.

Anyway much of that was off topic but yeah, I'm not a fan of this line of thought and where it leads

I've been debating whether or not I should go public with this, but I don't feel comfortable calling myself anti radqueer anymore. I've spent time listening to RQs, and though there are definitely cases of 'yeah that person is fucked' a lot of them are just people trying to cope with the deck of cards they were given. So this is a RQ safe space, even if my older posts don't reflect that. I'm RQ neutral and pro transID. I never really cared about people earnestly being transID, but let my discomfort with 'transautistic' etc folks get the best of me... that changes now. I say this as someone who's """cis""" autistic, someone who has BIID, someone who is supposedly affected by RQ ideals. I know even being neutral on the subject will get me shit, but I would rather be honest. I'd rather get the mass unfollowing over with. Because how someone's atypical dysphoria manifests isn't my business, nor is somebody's coping mechanism. It's nobody's business but theirs, and something I see in anti spaces is just... a complete lack of understanding of that. I see some real gross shit from antis, all in the name of 'morality,' and it's something that I cannot align with anymore.

If you've read this far, and are considering unfollowing, I wish you the best. I'm not gonna tell you what to do, nor beg you to stay within my presence if it makes you uncomfortable. If you're an anti, and want to stick around, that's fine too; rest assured that this blog isn't going to be radqueer centered. Fic: It Will Go Ever On

For anon requester, a Billford with a take on "leaving notes around the house" theme! Post-show, SFW but slightly creepy.

It Will Go Ever On

There is a yellow post-it note on the corner of Ford's desk in the basement, reminding him to eat during the day. When a black outline of a triangle appears into the corner of the note, he know his days of peace are over.

"Bill." If he talks about the things he's afraid of out loud, they will have less power. Ford doesn't believe that for a moment, never with Bill, but he might as well try.

The triangles start to appear on regular basis: they pop up in the pages of Ford's papers and books, in the steam on the mirror when Ford is taking a shower. They only appear on Ford's belongings and whenever he is alone, and while that is its own threat, it also makes it easy to hide it all from Stan. His family has suffered enough because of Bill; if he's rising again, Ford will deal with him on his own this time.

Ford investigates what he can, for unusual sources of power, strange phenomenon, for any signs of other Bill sightings, but he finds nothing; Bill is manifesting around him alone. It could mean that Bill is weak, perhaps even unconscious of his own actions. Finding him sooner than later is, therefore, critical, so Ford puts all his efforts into it. But Bill remains out of sight, and the triangles keep appearing.

The first time an eye appears inside the triangle, Ford knows it's a sign there is conscious intent behind this.

"I see you," he says to the large triangle on his blackboard, staring into its eye before starting to wipe it off.

Soon after the eye, the triangles are accompanied by messages.

The first ones are simple, one-word messages, "hi" or "hello" or "greetings", but it doesn't take long until they are "hey there, Sixer!" and then things like "greetings from the afterlife, how are the last years of yours treating you?" and Ford knows he has to hurry. He prepares all his old anti-Bill measures, observes increasingly suspicious Stan for signs of possession, keeps tabs on the kids. He will fight on his own, but at the same time he will make sure the people he cares about are safe.

He pretends he's not being selfish.

It's just frustrating not to know where Bill is and what is exactly happening with him. Despite Ford's constant searching, he hasn't been able to find any signs of Bill being present in this world in any other form; he seems to exist only in these messages, only to Ford. That could be for any reason, but the part of him hopes it's because of him.

Even if he can't haunt him, Ford wants to be on Bill's mind too.

When Bill finally makes a full appearance in Ford's dreams, it's not a surprise. What is surprising is how their encounter goes down.

"Your Mindscape is cozy these days," Bill comments, floating in the captain's cabin of Stan O'War 2. "Never thought you'd take to family life so well. You always surprise me, Stanford."

It's been a while for Ford, too. He looks out of the windows of the cabin, seeing that the sea outside is calm despite Bill's presence; no other monsters to be seen. The sea outside is vast, limitless, full of opportunities, just as it should be.

He should want to be outside on the deck, wish that Stan was here. But he stares at Bill, whose light seems to be a little dimmer, whose energy is flagged, and although he has been spent feeling his own dread build up, he can't help but think that this isn't how it should be. Even though he knows that this is changing, that it's only a matter of time that Bill is all the way dangerous again.

"I will be ready for you," Ford says. "You won't catch me unprepared again."

"You have always learned quickly." Bill's voice, at least, is exactly what it used to be, still searing Ford's ears, still smug. "I've missed you, Sixer. It should be fun to scuffle with you again."

Bill floats across the air, over to Ford. He reaches out, pokes Ford in the nose.

"I'm the one who's going to get you this time," he says. "Prepare for that."

Ford wants to be rid of Bill. He wants his family safe.

"We'll see," he replies, and wakes up.

Yet he wants nothing more than Bill to make his threat come true.
