You know what's incredibly upsetting? Seeing so many pro-Israel or pro-Zionist posts parrot that the only reason anyone could be pro-Palestine or call for a free Palestine is because they hate Jews.
I know what this tactic is meant to do and I know how making people apathetic, how discrediting their knowledge of a topic or questioning the genuineness of their empathy and other similar tactics are used to benefit the oppressive group but it's still pissing me off.
I am a descendant of enslaved people.
Our history lessons always begin with the slaughter & genocide of the indigenous peoples that were here first, primarily the Taino, who thankfully have a few descendants living in isolation along with the protected Maroon villages. It is normal throughout high school to take history trips to former great houses & plantations and see for ourselves the sites where our ancestors were brutalized and massacred; the weapons and tools of torture preserved and on display so that we knew but a taste of what they went through.
My university is built on the grounds of a former plantation. There are businesses and homes built on top of mass graves & on top of sites of slaughter. There is literally no escaping our colonial history because it touches everything. Our last names are not even our own! Most of us have English, Scottish and Irish last names given by the plantation owners to our ancestors. Or you know...because many children were the product of rape. We cannot accurately trace our true heritage more than 4-5 generations back because most families have no complete records.
A lot of you like to bring up grandparents. Cool. My great-great grandmother was the daughter of a mulatto free woman and a white Scottish sailor. She was white passing. Because land and work were hard to get here under colonial rule, she left the island for a better life with her husband who was a Cuban born mulatto and they ended up living in the US through WWII and after. They were considered an interracial couple (black & white rather than both being seen as mixed) and could not live in certain places because it was illegal. Papa couldn't find work, was treated horribly, because he had darker skin but Grandma found work passing as white and was treated much better. She worked 2-3 jobs to provide for them and their 5 children.
But, there were times when she would appear darker like if she was out in the sun too long or her curls would start to show and a Jewish neighbour/coworker suggested to her it might be safer to tick Jewish on forms rather than white if her race was ever questioned. I suppose due to that kindness the family formed friendships within the Jewish community where they lived & Grandma's eldest son actually married a Jewish woman. His kids and grandkids are all Jewish and they still live in the US.
I share this specific thing because I have very real concerns for those members of my family. But while I worry for them in this time of increasing anti-semitism and absolutely decry any verbal/physical attacks against them, I am still going to speak against things that are wrong. What Israel is doing is wrong. Of course as a non-Jewish person I can acknowledge I may misstep and if I say/do something that is genuinely anti-semitic I'll take the correction. But if your aim is just to intimidate me into silence it's not going to work.
And trying to tell me 'well black people are not welcomed there or black people wouldn't get treated well in Palestine' as if that affects the cost of bread. Guess what? Black people face racism everywhere. Even among our own and colonialism has a lot to do with that. That same grandmother, I was fortunate to grow up with her in the latter part of her life after she returned to the island and every time I went out with her there were questions of whether my family worked for her. Or why was I, this little black girl with this little old white lady as if I meant her harm. She had to say proudly, "This is my granddaughter." How other people view me or treat me isn't going to stop me from speaking up for what's right.
With the history of my people I could never ever ever side with the oppressor. Ever. Whether its here in the west or in the east, whether it's happening to my fellow black people, or any other group of people, I cannot in good conscience stand with the oppressor. My ancestors were forcibly stripped of their humanity, called savages, animals, barbarians and all of that was brutally beaten into them. That same language and similar acts of brutality are being used against Palestinians today.
You think you can cower me into staying silent on that? With unfounded accusations of hate? I refuse.
N.B. - my use of the word mulatto here is strictly to provide the historical context of how my grandparents were seen/classified and spoken of. It is not a term we use.

Okay but how fucking funny is it that everyone thought Donut was gay only for him to slap down an uno reverse card.
The whole show it was very heavily hinted at that Donut was gay because he's feminine. Then to have it releaved that he's the only member of red team that isn't sexually attracted to men (or anyone) is s tier. I adore this so much more than him being gay.
Now all I can think of is Wash and Donut watching their allosexual teammates acting weird during the temple of procreation fiasco. Just off to the side with no idea what's going on until they hear Simmons chewing Tucker out for his idiocy

I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND HOW SOME OF Y'ALL DECIDE TO REMAIN SILENT ON THIS OR REMAIN "NEUTRAL" ON WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW. BITCH THERE'S A LITERAL GENOCIDE HAPPENING WITH PALESTINE AND GAZA AND YOU ARE REFUSING TO TALK ABOUT IT OR EVEN EDUCATE YOURSELF ON THIS GOD DAMN GENOCIDE THAT'S HAPPENING.
THIS IS NOT A WAR, IT'S GENOCIDE, STOP CALLING THIS "WORLD WAR III" OR SOME SHIT, BABIES ARE DYING, CHILDREN ARE DYING, WOMEN ARE DYING, MEN ARE DYING, ELDERLY ARE DYING, EVERYONE IS DYING, THIS IS GENOCIDE, WHOLE GENERATION'S OF FAMILIES ARE BEING WIPED OUT JUST LIKE THAT. PEOPLE ARE STARVING, THERE'S NO CLEAN WATER, NO HEAT, NO POWER, NO SIGNAL, NOTHING. AND YET, HERE YOU ARE STANDING WITH ISRAEL.
FUCK YOU FOR THAT. AND FUCK YOU FOR CHOOSING TO REMAIN SILENT OR "NEUTRAL" ON THIS GENOCIDE.
EVERYONE NEEDS TO TALK ABOUT THIS, IM NOT LETTING THIS SLIDE AND LETTING YOU COWARDS REFUSE TO BRING TO LIGHT ON WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE WORLD. I DON'T GIVE A FUCK IF IT "RUINS" YOUR BLOG THEME OR AESTHETIC, THAT JUST SHOWS YOU DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THE LIVES THAT ARE BEING WIPED OUT RIGHT NOW. THAT JUST SHOWS YOU AREN'T HUMAN. FUCK YOU FOR THAT.

The thing I love about shipping thorin/bilbo or any of the dwarves together is that it canonically makes sense that some dwarves would have male significant others. I think it’s like 1/3 of all dwarves are female? That number may be wrong, but we defintely know dwarrodams are very hard to come by so like… why wouldn’t some of the dwarves be gay? At the very least due to “supply and demand” issues? Homophobia just does not logically make sense looking at dwarven culture.

i think ashler is at its core is the kind of ship where two like-minded individuals are able to not only challenge each other for their betterment, but they're also able to see through each other's shortcomings and offer their support.
i'll go into detail about what i'm talking about once i finally compile (and straighten out) all of my thoughts into a meta post, but for now let me just say that what i find so interesting about them is that they have the potential to be the type of ship that not only fits the "i would kill/die for you" dynamic, but would be able to offer each other rest. they are the "i would take a break for you, i would be able to rest and take it easy for you, specifically because i know i am not alone, you are here with me, and that reassure is enough to keep my thoughts at bay"
it's the appeal of tyler (who at a young age has been set to taking the responsibility of making the big decisions for his family) being able to trust that ashlyn is capable enough for him to entrust his loyalty and his obedience to her, and in turn ashlyn (someone who is only just starting to feel the weigh of everyone's life on her hands) has someone like tyler (who's entire life has been experiencing what she's going through) to question her choices so that she can make sure that every plan she makes and sets will have little to no drawbacks, thus strengthening her role as leader.
sure they may have started off pretty shaky at first, but look at them now, and see how much potential they can have— especially now when they've become so much closer and trusting of each other.
also, look me in the eyes and tell me this post isn't ashler-coded to you (you can't)

"Chuuya is the most tragic Bsd character" "No it's Dazai!" Shut the fuck up it's Sigma.
Sigma was born from nothing and was used by anyone since the very beginning, barely considered "human". For starters, he doesn't even belong in the Bsd universe, Fyodor forced him in with the page, meaning he can't call Yokohama "home", he doesn't know what that means. For most people he met, Sigma was just an information gathering machine. Never in his life was he allowed a free will or offered kindness, which made him desperately grasp onto his Casino, but even that was taken away from him. The first and only people to show compassion were Atsushi and Dazai. The latter inspires him to do the right thing for once, and try to defeat Fyodor. He tries his best and even gets Fyodor's secrets, but he's abruptly found dead. Not a goodbye, not a warning, he's just dead. Now imagine your existence is so insignificant to the world that your death doesn't affect anything nor anyone. No one cares about it. The world keeps going without anyone stopping to think about you, you didn't matter enough. And the one who pushed you to what ultimately killed you (Dazai) doesn't even flinch to it. Sigma was so insignificant not even the show itself paid attention to him. Now that's what I call tragic.

rant to me about lesbian nami
ahsdhjkl every time I think about it I grip my knees a little harder and dig my nails into my skin a little deeper — because how the heck did I miss all the signs while I was growing up?
but now I'm older and perhaps more mature and a little more accepting of my queer identity and I. I'm not missing it anymore.
I've been rewatching and rereading one piece in no particular order and these are some of the evidences I gathered:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
there're multiple women throughout the timeline but the most consistent one is vivi. most likely vivi was nami's gay awakening bc before arabasta arc there's not much possible romantic interaction for her.
and no luffy is aroace and zoro and nami have a sibling-like dynamic so the other two of the romance dawn trio aren't possible romantic subjects for nami. usopp has kaya and chopper is baby. sanji is the only one with potential but nami clearly has no interest so there's that. early sign of lesbianism fr, because look at me in the eyes and tell me that sanji; with his good look and good cook and good manners, albeit a bit perverted, is not desirable?
