i think mostly we as a culture need to stop pretending media is for us and instead recognize that it's for the people making it. "the show didn't do the thing I wanted it to" is so not the point. did it do what the people making it wanted it to do? did it tell the story they were trying to tell? than it was successful. if that doesn't align with what you wanted to happen, don't get up in arms about it. don't badmouth the creators and throw a tantrum. that's what fan works are for. the text is the text, and it told the story it was telling. you wouldn't be like "ugh shakespeare is insane for act v btw like there was no reason for juliet to kill herself she should've just waited and then her and romeo could have been together wtf this ruined the whole play" like no!!! the themes were there the set-up was there the foreshadowing was there shakespeare did what he intended to. just because it wasn't a happy ending and just because you thought it should've went differently doesn't mean it was bad. read a fic where juliet lives and move on.

You ever just see people talk about the Percy Jackson books and know somewhere, deep in your heart, that none of these people have understood that this is a series made for middle schoolers. And that fandom will very frequently lie to them like, all the time. No, that character probably isn’t ooc, you’re just thinking of what the fandom turned them into. No, this book isn’t a horrible stain next to the others before it, literally all of them were like this. It’s Percy Jackson. It’s cheesy and occasionally makes a very questionable writing decision.
You gotta be in this for the long haul or jump ship my guys. Be cringe and free or be gone

Harry Osborn fundamentally comes accross to me as emotionally mixed up. I don't think he can fully understand or express the full breadth of his love and anguish, and so his bottled up emotions come out as bitterness and anger. And who can blame him after years of his youth were spent grief stricken, pained, and isolated? I mean, things were going so well for him! But suddenly, from his point of view, everything he wants is within his view but so out of reach; the Emily-May Foundation, his own health, his father's love, and most of all, Peter. Everything he covets is being taken away. Then he hears his mother tell him to make his dream come true. The same woman that said Harry and Peter make each other better. It kills me that the integral caveat of Harry's dream is that he wants–or even needs–to be united with Peter. To heal the world together. He finally has the chance to be strong and change the world for the better, but that's not enough. It means so much that his pain manifested through Venom not as a need for vengeance, but as a sheer certainty that he and Peter will be together. Peter is undeniably Harry's favorite person, and "brothers" is probably only a sliver of how he feels. Either way, it's evident that Harry loves Peter, terribly. His love for Peter gave him the strength to suffer through years of medical treatments, and it gave him the strength to fight past Venom and tell Peter that he doesn't want to suffer anymore. I think he already knew that Peter loved him, but at the end, he got to hear it. And in his last fading moment, he is united with Peter, and they heal the world together.
I have nothing more to add. I'm just speechless at this point. Their love healed the world. Thank you Insomniac Games.

senior year nancy is so funny because here she is, editor of the school paper right, and she has this nosy freshman breathing down her neck and whenever he starts to annoy her, whenever he pries too much, she’s like: okay how can i insult him and get him to shut up, how can i hit him where it hurts the most. then she settles on
“FIRST of all you’re not jonathan” or alternatively…
“[jonathan’s] not like YOU…(explains why jonathan is her favorite boy in the whole world)”
she’s just so high strung and DONE and snappy and ready to graduate and you know what she is right; sometimes the best way to put someone in their place is reminding them that they are simply NOT (and will never be) jonathan byers™

Day 3: Gabriel
Forced to take things slow, rebelling by doing a double feature.
Prompt by @spaccadt and @paulacaulfield
That fun moment when the scanner picks up on the small lumps of acrylic paint. I love that. /s
And here's me trying to fix it.
I have feelings about this drawing. Once again, not telling which ones.

Was flipping through an old sketchbook from 2020 and decided to redraw this random oc. The Cauldron Witch is a cutie <3
------
[ID: Two drawings of the same character done on paper 4 years apart.
The Cauldron Witch, as she is named, is a ghost like diety with star motifs. She has curly hair with a flowy ribbon in it, round glasses, star shaped freckles, horns on her head, a star shaped patch on her left eye, a short shirt with flower petal like sleeves, a scarf draped around her arms, and a lot of jewelry on her hands and around her neck.
Where the first drawing from 2020 is messy and done in pencil, the second drawing from 2024 is cleaner and finished in pen with shading and a blue rectangle background to bring attention to it.
