Hello im a relatively new marauders fan ( i read the books in 2019 and learned all abt the marauders in like 2022 ig) and i want to know like how i can learn abt like all the lore from when harry potter was still pretty new bc tbh all the recent like fanart and fics are like too boring and similar and my brain has deigned to make the marauders my hyperfixation but like almost all of it is so boring anyways ty for reading this far <3

Hello new fan who wants to read older content! You are my new favorite person! I really really really think new/younger people in fandom would benefit from going back and reading old fics. I don't mean reading "fandom classics", I mean going and reading the oldest Wolfstar fics you can find. Those will be housed on Fanfiction.net and LiveJournal, and you have to finagle search filters to find them.

The oldest Wolfstar fic I can find on ff.net, for example, is from 2001. LiveJournal has fics hidden in all kinds of different communities that still exist there. So it takes some time and digging around to find them, but they are SO worth it. Not everything lives on AO3.

Here's a secret for searching fanfiction.net: in the old days, there was no way to indicate romance on a fic. They added the shipping search feature later on, after tons of Wolfstar fics had already been posted. So if you want to find R/S there, you choose Harry Potter for the fandom, and when you go into the search feature, you choose Character A as Sirius and Character B as Remus (or vice versa). And then you have to wade through every. single. fic that it brings up to figure out if it's R/S or just R & S. Annoying, right? But worth it for the gems that you find from the old days.

The early days of R/S were really interesting, especially before OOTP came out. We knew nothing about Sirius's or Remus's backgrounds, so sometimes Sirius was written as a half-blood, or Remus was given siblings. It made for really interesting stories!

And you're right! Recent fanfic and fanart are just. all the same. It's the same bastardized characterization of Sirius and Remus over and over again and it's so dull and they have nothing in common with the canon characters we fell in love with.

Ok this one is scary- so what happened is I wrote two scenes for TTTB before I ever heard this song, and then Mel read them and then she listened to this song and she was like “dude… this song is about your fic and those two scenes specifically” and I was like “haha yeah it’s Lucy Dacus, the Queen of Sapphic Pining” but then I listened to the song and like… the specificity. They lyrics match up exactly. You will see when we get to fourth and fifth year, but, Lucy, my wife, we were drinking from the same mother lake…

Vampires by Tommy Lefroy

Okay so this one has the above lyrics, which became a sort of source code for TTTB Sirius. I associate this song with her and it helped to ground my writing of her character in the first couple chapters. Anyway I love her, also Tommy Lefroy rules, they’re gonna get big, I just know it.

This one has absolutely jack shit to do with anything related to this fic, but I was deeply hyperfixating on it back in January when I was first outlining TTTB, sooo yeah. I also wrote the first scene I ever wrote for this fic while listening to this song on repeat at my favorite coffee shop.

This is another one that lyrically doesn’t have much to do with anything, but really helped me achieve the specific angsty headspace I needed to be in to write the year one Christmas chapter when Sirius goes home to Grimmauld Place. Also the above lyrics really gave me ‘prongsfoot talking through the mirrors’ vibes. I know this song is actually about addiction, like I’m aware.

Mel texted me in a panic because she had read a snippet of a scene I wrote from sixth year and then listened to this song in close succession and she said that she had never really listened to these lyrics before, or she didn’t fully get what they meant, until she read that snippet and thought about this song and had a breakdown. Anyway, something for y’all to look forward too. Post prank vibes, delicious angst.

So it's been a while since I dabbled in fics but I've been caught in a vicious Marauders hyperfixation phase and I've been wanting to get back into creative writing again so one thing led to another and anyways here's a crime AU that is mostly angst with a happy ending and a group of sad boys who are too young trying to cling to love in times of despair

Disclaimers: It's been a minute since I wrote anything and I'm not 100% sure where this is going as the whole outline and this chapter happened in the span of 4 hours last night. It's just an excuse to explore character dynamics and aesthetics so please don't expect too much coherency or logic in the universe.

Last song I listened to: Well, since I'm literally playing music from the moment I get up, until the moment I climb into bed at night, this is going to change as I'm writing it. So it would probably be easier to list my current playlist, which I've been listening to on repeat for about three weeks now. All the songs relate to my fic in some way, so I'll explain that too.

So there's Neon Medusa by The Midnight, and My Demons by STARSET which are both about Regulus joining the Death Eaters as a spy. Then there's Control by Zoe Wees which is Remus in the story right now (Chapter 82 onwards) 😭

Then there are the songs about future events. Starlight, and Dark on Me, both by STARSET, which can't be about anything but Wolfstar, like Siriusly 💔. Monster again by STARSET, which I'm not explaining because spoilers 👀. And finally, Battle Cry, and Wrecked by Imagine Dragons, the first is Regulus after drinking the potion in the Horcrux cave 😭, and the second is hmmm, actually, I'm not saying 👀🤐😂.

Last show I watched: I recently binged Star Trek Voyager because my son was watching it and he wanted to talk to me about it, so I wanted to refresh my memory.

Currently watching: Nothing at all. I'm not a big tv watcher apart from the occasional binge.

Currently reading: Crimson Rivers by @zeppazariel. It's made me cry multiple times and I'm eagerly awaiting the next chapter.

Current obsessions: Is it too obvious to say the Marauders and wolfstar? Lmao. I don't have any new current obsessions because I'm trying extremely hard not to get hyperfixated on anything because I really want to finish writing second-year.

🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?

Coming up with Young!Bukow's band Heavy Petting in Mag kein Alkohol, mag nur das Besoffensein was fun, because thinking "what would a bunch of 16 year olds call their band?" is underrated :D (also considering his canon youth-gang was called "The gang" is already a pretty low bar.)

Also the backstory and names in my Die Drei Fragezeichen fic were fun to come up with. I mean Matthew Brittlestone is a great name, innit?

💖 What made you start writing?

I guess my love for specific characters and their dynamics, also to fill in canon, esp. when I wrote a shitton Wolfstar stuff when I was around 15 or so.

Also it's my way to deal with whatever hyperfixation I have. My drawing skills are entirely rusty, so no fanarts, gif-making is sth I looked into and noped out and fanvids take too long, so writing it is!

11. untitled baby fic the raven cycle, pynch — currently 3.7k. have i finished the raven king yet? no. however that’s not important, ronan lynch accidentally dreaming up him and adam’s baby, despite them not even dating, is important !! i wrote almost 4k in one sitting and then planned to write it the next day however. someone (me) got sick and then someone (also me) went to a 5sos concert and now someone (me) is sick and lacking the braincells for writing so! it’ll probably be finished soon, pynch is on my brain a lot right now actually

16. you’re not my homeland anymore (so what am i defending now?) harry potter, regulus black & sirius black — currently 1.6k :) another 5 + 1 fic, also it’s NOT incest i promise i just wanted to write an angsty fic exploring the decline of their relationship as brothers as a gift to gigi <3

17. untitled marauders fic (but it’ll probably be called how evergreen, our group of friends!) harry potter, multiship, wolfstar centric — currently 3.7k, it’s a BIG sirius centric fic, i have abt a 15k doc just planning it but it’s proving to be difficult to write bc sirius is a difficult character for me to get in the head of, especially in the beginning when he’s like, fresh from eleven years straight of only knowing a life of abuse and not really realising it’s abnormal? hits a wee bit close to home however! i’m gonna write it, i’m determined. not sure i’ll ever post it tho hfkdks

19. i’m losing myself in you (and you, and you, and you) 5sos, ot4 — currently 2.4k! this is a fun hogwarts au, i don’t actually remember writing ANYTHING of what’s already been written, pretty sure i was high the last time i opened this doc so that’s fun! idk if i’ll ever finish this, it was completely based on the idea of luke going to a quidditch match and being layered with four house scarves (his own and all three of his boyfriends) so that he could cheer them all on. however! this one has been on the back burner for fucking ages so. not sure if it’ll ever be finished rip

Luke Hemmings was pretty sure that he was going to die… or combust, or something else that was fairly fucking dramatic.

okay that’s it! so sorry if you read all of this, i don’t even remember half of what i wrote but! yeah. i think all i can learn from the majority all of my first lines is that :) for some reason using the character who’s pov i’m exploring’s first name has a huge chokehold on me. i think it might be the fact that around the time i started writing properly i was reading heroes of olympus for the first time and rick tends to do that with all of his chapters. maybe. idk! i don’t do it all the time but i kinda like doing it, it makes my work feel a little more meish. anyway yes thank u for ur time xx

Drarry (Harry Potter)

1. A Crack In The Wall by facewithoutheart | Lily & Draco brotp - time travel - Potter crushes are a hassle - eventual happy ending - 38k

Hogwarts finds an unconventional way to heal the scars of war, using the power of love and a crack in the wall.

2. Bloody Knuckles by meshtams | I usually can't stand No Magic AUs but this one hits - trans boy Harry - the Dursleys are their own warning - side Wolfstar - 10k

Stonewall high and living with the dursleys... didnt work out, so when harry is adopted by his godfathers remus and sirius, and even better they are actually supportive of him, its like a dream come true, especially when his new school is so much better than his old one and he actually has friends there, but apparently it can't last. he's outed as trans to the entire school, and he has very few people on his side, but for some reason, Draco Malfoy, the boy who has been tormenting him since he started at Hogwarts, is completely silent on it. Until he isn't, and Harry has to re-evaluate his entire perception of him.

3. Reparatio by astolat | this is a classic that I recently reread - my favorite part is the lack of seduction before the sex haha - worldbuilding - misunderstandings - 17k

Draco snorted. “I’m not reduced to penury. I want something considerably beyond money, and I rather think you’re the only one can give it to me.”

“You want the Invisibility Cloak,” Harry said, flatly. He’d half expected as much; it was the only thing he had that Draco could want—

Izuku isn't too sure exactly how to be an omega...so in the middle of the night while suffering and barely able to stand he goes to the one omega he knows that doesn't hate him.

5. katsuki's ua adventure (series) by wonhaebunny | this series has it all: Bakugo & girls of 1-A bonding - people standing up for Bakugo - Bakugo the feminist king - verbal take down of Endeavor by Class 1-A - 9+ parts

6. (Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder) FALSE by dragontrappedinhumanskin | Kiribaku ft. Class 1-A - they're pining and stupid, your Honor - be prepared for slow dancing and other cavity-inducing fluff - all the tropes - 46k

When Bakugo and Kirishima get hit by a quirk that forces them to literally stick together or face the less then desirable consequences, how the fork is Bakugo supposed to keep his crush hidden?!

Well, turns out he never needed to.

Aiden/Lambert (the Witcher)

7. Pat-a-Cake by @inexplicifics | this ship is the closest thing I have to a hyperfixation rn and if Aiden is dead I will die - modern AU - mutual pining - love language of gluten free cake - 6k

Lambert, proud owner of Wolfe Bakery, realizes he's made a dreadful mistake: running a bakery means talking to people.

Aiden needs a job.

Sometimes, two problems solve each other.

8. The Viscount (series) by minutiae | Lambert gets the childhood he deserves - de-aged Lambert - side Eskel/Jaskier - non-binary Aiden - 2 parts

Post mountain, Jaskier has been traveling alone. It hurt to walk away, but being blamed for everything that went wrong in someone else's life was one step too far. He'd been a traveling bard for over two decades, both with and without Geralt by his side. He didn't need the witcher, didn't need much else besides his lute.

Destiny had other ideas, however. A chance meeting in a forest with a small, angry child gave them both a glimpse into a life they didn't think they'd ever have or want. But in adopting this feral kid, Jaskier finds himself irrevocably tied into a life he thought he'd left, with a family he didn't know he wanted.

Aiden is always far too thin and miserable in the spring when they meet up again, so Lambert invites him up to Kaer Morhen for the winter. Good food, good company, a nice warm bed, and the option of very good sex - what's not to like?

Aiden left the caravan and its brutal alphas as soon as he could survive on his own. He is heartbroken when Lambert suggests he come to Kaer Morhen to be the alpha Wolves' newest toy - but he'd do anything for Lambert, even this.

...There's a miscommunication in there somewhere.

10. Two wolves, a cat and a bard walk into a tavern by Beginte | Witchers are bad at feelings, surprise - side Geraskier - idiots in love - miscommunication - 6k

"Aren't you going to introduce us?"

A smarmy look crosses Lambert's face.

"Aiden, this is Jaskier – the famous bard whose songs make life easier for us witchers on the Path, the only person ever to win the Oxenfurt Academy bardic competition twice in a row. And this is his lover, Geralt."

11. The Kaer Morhen Book Club (series) by @jackironsides | this series has it all: the best concept - main Geraskier - Witcher erotica, bc if you don't want to sing praises, write something spicy - winters at Kaer Morhen - 1+ parts

It’s a tradition the three of them hold. Whenever one of them finds a book of the right kind, he brings it back to Kaer Morhen to share with the others. They keep the books on a shelf in the library that they inexpertly installed themselves. Eskel drags a chair up to form their little semicircle in front of the library fire. 3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? well I did write two oneshot Zelda fics at 13 and one oneshot Harry Potter fic at 15 but we don't think about those. (and i just remembered I have a trashed Ace Attorney wip buried deep in my drive somewhere) So I honestly consider Luca the only I've written for for real.

5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not? Yeah I try to reply to all. I think there's like two with just an emoji I haven't replied to. But it usually takes me a little time, esp right after publishing something, to reply, I save them up a little. But like now, when it's been a while since publishing and I think a week or more since a new comment, I get excited and rush over immediately haha.

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? well all that are ended have happy endings. The angstiest rn is probably the Alberto angst one, hold my breath for me, but if it actually goes somewhere story-wise and not just short standalone chapters, I'm hoping to veer it somewhere happy. Boy deserves to heal. I kind of doubt I'd ever write something w an angsty ending. For me what's the point of escapism if it's not happy and carefree (I say, following Eli's planned tragedy with hawk eyes HAHA). I'll get out more angst when I finish the untitled Big Sad Gay Fic but that'll have a happy ending too.

7. Do you write crossovers? Never tried or considered.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Well. You already know. I write anything I want to, tbh. I think my "genre" is "spicy vanilly" like I'll add elements of kink but keep it pretty soft and gentle still. Sorry to go on a tangent here but truly believe that's to do w my identity being somewhere on the ace spectrum, if kink goes too far I just don't understand it. I feel like I write all my pwps from a very emotional perspective rather than a physical perspective, and for me it's hard to grasp kinks where I don't understand the emotions of it. I guess! I do enjoy occasionally reading stuff that's kinkier and more physical, just yeah. I don't understand it enough to write it.

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I don't know! Probably not?

Have you ever co-written a fic before? no, though I'm working on some stuff with @albertolovesluca! not co-authoring but we're bouncing ideas for each others' fics and it's lovely and he's helped me a LOT! I've not really interacted enough w people before to have anyone to talk ideas with so it's been a very fun and rewarding experience<3

12. What’s your all time favorite ship? Well I'm a hyperfixator at heart so that changes whenever I change fandoms but the actual OTP that remains after years are probably Klavier/Apollo from Ace Attorney, I periodically fall back into them even now, something like 12 years (fuck! I feel old) after getting into them. All the rest have mostly faded away, though the biggest ones have been Davekat (Homestuck) and Wolfstar (Harry Potter) but I feel like nothing can compare to Luberto since I haven't actively participated in fandom or writing before them.

14. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? Hmm I think my favorite published one is you've been hiding all your life bc that one's so intensely personal to me. Like reading it back I'm a little more "eh, it's alright I guess", but it was such a profound and transformative experience to write. I feel like it untangled some knots inside me. As a whole I think make me crescendo is my best pwp at least. I think it's hard to compare the pwps with always be this close but that one was really, REALLY fun to write. 3

Though I feel pretty certain the Big Sad Gay Fic will be my fav when it's done, simply bc I have never done anything properly multichapter, it's very personal to me, and I believe in its concepts and am in love with some of the more pivotal scenes I've written... I think! We actually made some progress on completely rearranging a lot last weekend but aren't done so it's all a little up in the air rn!

i love answering hp fic questions (or hp questions in general) but i don’t really have any intention of writing hunger games fic. i’ve only written for a handful of fandoms/pairings in my life—i can literally count them on one hand lol—and as ive been slowly honing my craft i plan on shifting focus to original fiction. i’ll probably keep writing drarry fics even after i finish the one i’m currently working on, bc i enjoy it and hp is a major hyperfixation of mine and all that, but i would honestly be surprised if i wrote for any other pairings at this point (wolfstar would be the possible exception, but i havent written for them in a few years at least so id be surprised if i end up wanting to again in the future), let alone for other shows/movies/books/etc

plus re: thg specifically, ive only read the series twice (tho ive seen the movies way more times) and definitely dont know the characters or world enough to feel confident writing them, and unfortunately i don’t have enough interest/motivation to reach that point

but like i said im open to answering hp questions literally whenever! i get really excited when people are interested in my thoughts or opinions in general, but i especially love talking about hp! and it’s hard to do these days bc 99% of the other people talking about hp on the internet are absolutely bananas and have ruined it for the rest of us lksdjflksjdfs so yes genuinely please ask me hp questions! i might not answer right away but i WILL answer—plus a lot of the time the questions end up inadvertently helping me conceptualize something in my fic which is always nice
