Hello I mcyt fandom-ified la Team du Lundi members and wrote a shit ton of text about it

After exhausting myself on trying to catch up on the current QSMP lore I got a sudden craving for a more familiar and fast paced kind of minecraft content and ended up rewatching all the Team du Lundi's SMP best of's I could find

And while doing so with my brain still hazed in fandom brainrot, I started picking up on minor details or info the players casually dropped, and drew parallels to the French speakers' QSMP counterparts This is going to be a long wordy post I don't even know what I am rambling about and for. Three things you need to be aware of about la Team du Lundi before reading :

Baghera, Antoine and Etoiles are the only QSMP players that are part of la Team du Lundi

As far as I remember the only two elements that suggest that la Team du Lundi's SMP could be canon to QSMP are Antoine being pressured into building another Tower of Shit, and Baghera's infamous fountain being mentioned when she was asked if her character remembers anything from her past before the island

La Team du Lundi's SMP was NOT a roleplaying server, it was just a private survival server for a small circle of friends casually playing together. So whenever I quote someone in this specific post, it is the streamer : there is no character other than the persona the streamer is usually showing on stream, but I just thought it would be fun to interpret certain situations while keeping in mind the QSMP lore. And here goes :

Baghera claims that when she was a kid she strongly believed that she could breathe underwater. The others joke about her having fins

Antoine jokingly tells Baghera he doesn’t need oxygen at all

Antoine claims he will still be alive thousands of years forwards

Antoine’s voice shifts when he wants to appear creepy

Baghera built an aquarium at her place, then helped Antoine build one at his tower, then built a giant swimming pool, then a fountain, then a waterslide- do you see a theme ?

Baghera knows that her skin is actually that of a chick and not a duckling, and calls it so here

Chat said that Baghera has a middle child syndrome, justifying that she bullies Angle Droit because Etoiles bullies her in the first place (Etoiles has also called her « little sister » in a derogatory way)

Etoiles has repeatedly asked people to play Valorant with him at least once

Here's a clip of Etoiles getting languaged in french and owing "a gifted sub in the swear jar"

Unrelated random clip of Etoiles because it creates happy hormones in me brain

Etoiles is regularly refered to as "the warrior"

Etoiles guided the whole group during an expedition to the End and he was literally glowing doing so (enchanted arrows effect) Everyone called him "the guide"

Baghera was the one who gave the final blow to the Enderdragon (and died from magic right after)

Etoiles spent most of his time adventuring in order to bring stuff and gear back to everyone for their builds

Etoiles asked Aypierre for help in order to design a redstone door for his cave which could only open upon solving a puzzle (which was egg & arrow related) (Aypierre was not a member of the server)

Etoiles built a nightclub with the walls and ceiling covered in wardenblocks making it look like a starry sky. He also rehomed Allays holding golden apples inside claiming them to be the souls working for him and that they lived there peacefuly

Etoiles jokingly talks about Antoine acting jealous and violent towards him because Etoiles told him he wanted to go and visit Kameto (who also was not a member of the server)

Baghera (along with Horty) had a rivalry with Joueur du Grenier (host of the server with admin powers) after he decided to build a massive parking lot right next to their house. They countered by covering the whole thing with dirt, followed by JDG building a factory and the two parties went back and forth. Baghera argued that it was stupid because they didnt even have cars to begin with (which is a sentence she reused when talking about Forever's roads) Also she tells JDG that he could've built a seaport instead, which makes JDG contemplate the thought of building an airport (and though he ended up never building it, I am side eyeing the French's plane crash)

At some point JDG wonders about what a roleplaying minecraft server would look like (RPZ 2), to which Baghera replies that she has a hard time picturing the thing "We'd all just build things you see ? I don't think we'd create stories, we would all just be like "I'm a builder, ah you too ? Well awesome, builders, cool"" and I find this to be hilariously ironic (fun fact : Baghera had no idea that QSMP was a roleplaying server when she first joined and often claims she would've taken a different approach with her character had she known right off the gate)

As I was finishing to write this down, these fuckers (/lh) decided to host a closure night for the server as they've never really officially did it, everyone just sort of deserted the server after a while. Baghera, Etoiles and Antoine kept referring to QSMP throughout the night, mostly talking about how weird it felt without mods. Among other meta commentary things

They mentionned Cellbit and Bad multiple times as the group was trying to solve enigmas. Antoine talked about "the cultural sharing" between communities as he taught insults to each others with Mike, Roier and Maximus in their respective languages Multiple more players were namedropped (including eggs) while Antoine was talking about how the server functions

Yes, Baghera and Etoiles kept their QSMP skins. Etoiles with his code corrupted purgatory one, and Baghera with her fading pink disheveled hair (with the addition of her cubito wearing Horty's merch)

Baghera admits that going back to this small familiar vanilla server feels like coming back home to your family during the holidays

Team du Lundi's cameos in QSMP :

Though Pomme has never canonically met JDG (even though most of her parents have talked about him to her at least once), she occasionaly breaks the 4th wall to refer to him. She once compared one of BBH's "vacation" flower shirts with his, and when Foolish and Bad asked her to elaborate (obviously not getting the reference) she proceeded to play JDG's music theme with the flute instead (Also I really feel the need to once more point out how mindblowing it is for your average french speaking viewer to have JDG's intro theme being added to the mod they use in the QSMP because of how anchored it is within french internet pop culture. Like this shit has been existing for 14 fucking years, it's part of the childhood of a lot of us, so to find a clip of British hardcore player Philza peacefuly listening to Mexican egg admin Tallulah play this theme on her flute feels like a multiverse fever dream)

Horty has been on Quesadilla Island through cc!Baghera's account, but neither of them really wanted to justify it RP wise. Baghera just wanted to give her best friend a tour of the island. Horty only got to meet Richarlyson who gave her a tour of Cellbit's castle and made her pick a room (she chose Chaos). She also chatted with Etoiles who tagged along for a bit and (this is obviously justified by it being a one-shot out of roleplay filler episode kind of night) they both already knew each other and were on friendly enough terms to bicker with one another Also she was part of the French speakers Quackity reached out to to invite on the server, but she had to decline because she was very busy at that time (and also not interested) Also also she was Baghera's teammate for that Formula 4 event, and Baghera has discussed it and showed pictures to a couple of islanders, including Richas who was very hyped about it

Another player the viewers were hoping to see on Quackity's server is Mynthos. He exists within the server with the picture of him that hangs in Pomme's art gallery, the cursed animation video that used to play in La France, as well as with Aypierre's health potion factory that bears his name

Angle Droit and Zerator are sometimes namedropped when the French speakers talk with their chat. Angle Droit frequently raids Baghera's and Antoine's streams, and though it has never been confirmed, a lot of viewers theorized that she was the +1 player Baghera and Etoiles wanted to invite on the server had they won the elections.

As for Zera, Etoiles went AFK on QSMP a couple of times in order to test some of Zerator's TrackMania maps (which he later discussed with Pac). I also remember a very trivial conversation Etoiles had with Mouse and Aypierre where he laughed about hurting his back very badly after carrying a fellow streamer during a caritative event, said event was hosted by Zerator (he's also the one judging them with concern from his desk)

THE RUIN FILES BOOK COVER JUST GOT RELEASED AND OF COURSE I NEED TO GIVE MY TWO CENTS ON IT!

First of all, it's coming out on April 2nd and my birthday is April 8th, meaning I will actually be able to buy and read this book! I will no doubt be reporting on anything of interest and doing some theorising, so I'm really looking forward!

People have already commented on this, BUT OH MY GOD ARE WE FINALLY GETTING SOME BONNIE AND FREDDY LORE??? They could've used any other render of Freddy for the cover, there's even a version of this poster without text, but they SPECIFICALLY used the version Freddy wrote on! I really hope we get some insight into Fronnie being canon or not, I mean, even MAT PAT ships it now. I couldn't have been unintentional.

MY DUDE!!! THERE HE IS!!! Look, I'm not expecting any crazy lore drops since DCA's plotline was already wrapped up pretty nicely imo, but what I do want is CLARIFICATION. Like, even though Youtooz technically confirmed my Eclipse theory, Youtooz is only a merch manufacturer, so it can be debated whether or not they can be relied on for 100% CANON info. And even though I'm quite confident in my theory (that post is probably one of my longest) some parts are a little bit of a stretch and it takes AWHILE to explain. It'd be nice for it be confirmed and just have ONE reliable source to point to.

So I was VERY excited when I saw this because many fans pointed out that this is CONCEPT ART, and not the official poster. I thought we may be getting more concept art in this book! But unfortunately, this was not the case.

Scott replied to this situation saying that the use of concept art was entirely an accident, and will be changed in the final product. I gotta say, this is a bit disappointing. But it is in character for Scott and Steelwool. Unlike the Bendy creators posting concept art on their social media, or Undertale having a whole 'The Art of Undertale' book, FNAF has never been one to share behind-the-scenes stuff.

But I don't blame them. This is most likely due to how theory-focused the fandom is. It'd be easy to see people use concept art as evidence for a theory, despite it not being credible. Like how people use unused lines in the code of the game for theories, despite them probably being UNUSED for a reason. Unfortunately, sharing unused creative ideas would only make the lore even more confusing for some people, so I think its good they didn't go this route.

Anyway, I'm SO excited for this book to come out! Though fnaf books do have a history of being leaked before their release date, if that does happen, it'll most likely be closer to April. But I'll keep you posted!

Tonight's charity prompt fill is for Raye, who donated to Streets Kitchen Solidarity and asked for a minific about Ian, "anything where he's outdoors with anyone."

We Could Be Heroes (or Cousins)

Ian had only just arrived home after work when he turned to face north and frowned. Martin would have said something about his “Spider senses,” a reference Ian understood enough to roll his eyes at but not enough to argue over. Though Martin was trying to get him into comics, insisting that if Ian was going to have a secret identity, he should learn the lore.

Although then Martin had stared into the distance for a moment before mumbling something about how he’d end up “fridged.” Which was a reference Ian didn’t get even a little, but when he’d tried dropping it into conversation, Schmitty had grimaced, so Ian resolved to look it up whenever he had the chance when he remembered and Martin wasn’t around.

Martin wasn’t around at the moment, but Ian was currently more interested in the presence in his territory.

Which… all of the land, including the whole Preserve was his territory, in a sense. But Ian was concerned with the land in his name on all legal documents, land that butted up next to the state park, which meant lost or nosy hikers crossed over into it all the time.

This was different, however. Not Martin Dyer passed out beneath his tree different, but remarkable enough to have Ian leaving the house without doing much more than removing his badge and gun and dropping them in the kitchen. Martin would make a face if he found them there later, but hopefully Ian wouldn’t be out long.

He moved toward the disturbance in a straight line, growing as large as he could in his clothes without ruining them, wanting to cover the distance quickly.

The trees were not alarmed. No fleeing deer crossed his path. But the birds were singing and the wind whispered of something. Not in words. Never in words. Hints and teases, excitement without the smug pleasure that had heralded Martin’s arrival into Ian’s world. Not He’s here. Something new.

It’s time.

Ian didn’t hear as wolves did. It wasn’t a heartbeat that made him stop, it was the awareness of how close he was to the state park and then Zarrin’s gentle, husky voice addressing one of the trees.

“My, aren’t you handsome?”

Ian waited until he was his usual size and form to continue forward.

Zarrin Xu stood several yards ahead, one hand resting lightly—not lightly—on a redwood only a few hundred years old. A baby, in redwood terms. Zarrin leaned in, lips moving in a whisper that Ian couldn’t hear but he knew what was said anyway. Mine.

Zarrin wasn’t wrong. He just also wasn’t entirely right. Though the tree didn’t mind, either way.

“There you are,” Zarrin called out as Ian drew closer, as though they didn’t see each other nearly every day, even if only in passing.

“Zarrin,” Ian answered carefully, then realized Zarrin was keeping to that side of the redwood because he was staying on the border of the state park. He must have entered Ian’s territory just a step or two to get Ian’s attention and then returned to that spot to wait.

He’d knocked. Joe must have told him to do that.

Ian crossed his arms. “Bit far from the mansion, aren’t you?”

Zarrin rolled one wrist in a vague gesture. “I like a walk sometimes. Especially now. Is this why you walk so much?”

“Who says I walk?” Ian asked it but knew the answer: Martin. Azar would have kept it to herself, more because that was her habit with things that she thought her parents would dislike. Martin would have spoken of it because he was Martin, open and soft and warm.

Zarrin gave Ian a knowing glance that was surprisingly sharp. “They don’t speak, but I can hear them,” he said instead of bringing Martin into this moment. “Do they speak to you?”

Ian shrugged. “Not in words.”

Zarrin straightened, impossibly tiny next to that redwood and barely reaching Ian’s shoulder. “Are they talking about me? Are they… happy?”

The insecurity in his voice was starkly evident. Ian heaved a sigh and tried looking away, but even if the trees didn’t chide him, Joe or Martin would have. “Happy is not an emotion for trees. But they aren’t unhappy.”

Zarrin blinked his wide eyes at him, looking pleading and youthful until that look suddenly hardened. Zarrin’s chin came up. “I can’t help you care for them if you don’t tell me, Ian Forrester.”

“You’re not the boss of me,” Ian responded childishly, but uncrossed his arms. “Is that why you came here?”

“You won’t speak in the coffee shop.” Zarrin paused, then tucked his hands into his coat pockets. “Perhaps understandably, with humans near. And you avoid the mansion. And you don’t invite me here.” Briefly, Zarrin stuck out his lower lip in a pout. “Only Zazzie.”

“Azar needs space away from the mansion,” and her stubborn treasure. Ian pressed on when he could see Zarrin forming an objection. “You don’t need my permission to be here, or an invitation for that matter. I couldn’t stop you.”

“Couldn’t you?” Zarrin said shrewdly. “I wonder.”

Ian’s heart began to pound. He crossed his arms again. “What is that supposed to mean? Don’t tell me you’ve decided I’m a superhero the way Martin has.”

The smooth question was a mistake.

Zarrin perked up to give Ian a sly grin. “Martin might have more reason to think admiringly of you than I do, it’s true.”

Ian sighed loudly with annoyance, as though he couldn’t feel the shiver in the wind.

Zarrin might have felt it too. He studied Ian for a moment, his grin falling, then said, “I looked up more about you, you know. Or, creatures that might be like you. And had our antiques restorer stay out of Alfie’s things so I could go through them.”

The shiver touched Ian’s skin. He never felt the cold, but he did now. “And?” he asked as evenly as he could.

“You are not dragon, Ian Forrester. But you are, like the trees that speak but do not use words, also not not a dragon. Alfie was given an egg, wasn’t he? An egg with a child that he raised. Dìzhèn wanted Everlasting protected and was most thorough about it. And…” Zarrin briefly looked uncomfortable “an egg is often a gift of a great love, not always possible between a dragon and someone other. Even for the powerful.”

Ian let his heart pound and didn’t try to calm it.

“You don’t want to speak of those things,” Zarrin continued after a while, in a mournful voice he had no call to use. “Joe said you might not.”

“Joe knows.” Ian said it flatly. Of course Joe knew. If Zarrin did, Joe did. “Look, we… I was raised not to speak with others.”

“But I’m not others.” Zarrin was still mournful. “I’m… perhaps a cousin, and we’re supposed to work together.”

“I know,” Ian spoke through gritted teeth, then forced a breath in and out. “I know that,” he said, marginally calmer. “I just… am not used to it. But, like I said, I can’t stop you.”

Zarrin leaned toward Ian as though Ian was a redwood who needed whispering to. “Dragonfire did not slow you much, Ian Forrester. There is enough of us in your blood to make you a threat. It’s no wonder the rest of the family chose to pretend Alfie had only been a secretary. They couldn’t ignore his presence entirely, not with this, not with her still so strong, but they could do their best to cloud the truth. Your magic,” he gentled his voice when Ian tensed again, “hid you even from Bernard’s senses. Could I stop you? Perhaps, now that all this has responded to me. But am I meant to? I don’t think so. And would I want to?” Hurt entered Zarrin’s liquid eyes. “No. I thought us friends, and if not friends, cousins.”

“Cousins?” Ian’s brain finally caught up with that word, bringing him back a step. “I don’t have… I’ve never…”

“I’ve met injured wolves less skittish than you,” Zarrin observed, no pleasure in the statement.

“It’s not your job to take care of me,” Ian insisted, feeling his chest tighten like how Martin described a panic attack. That… that wasn’t good. It couldn’t be.

“Oh, Ian.” Zarrin shook his head. “I don’t know how to do this, either. It’s scary, isn’t it? Bernard says… well he would say many things, but he’s just as scared as we are right now. You don’t… you don’t look well.” His hands emerged from the pockets, grasping the air nervously. “Can I come in? Please? I can take you home or call Martin for you.”

Ian was distantly embarrassed by the longing to hear Martin’s voice that went through him when Zarrin said the name. He could hardly say he didn’t need help now. Zarrin, with whatever it was dragons felt, knew he wanted Martin.

“Martin is allowed here,” Ian said finally, breathing hard. “They welcomed him here.”

Zarrin nodded to accept that. “And me?”

The ground would rise up to meet him if it could. Zarrin might know that. Or might not understand what the feeling was. He was new to this and had no one to teach him anything.

A neat trick they’d pulled, Dìzhèn and Alfie.

Ian put his head down and thought of Martin and his comics and his excited talk of crossover events and unexpected team-ups. He thought Marie, the injured wolf Zarrin had found, and her books.

He wasn’t a superhero, but he could read more than just the creaking of tree branches and the sighs of the wind.

“They want you here,” Ian admitted. But that wasn’t really what Zarrin was asking. “I… don’t want you here,” he answered honestly and hated that Zarrin flinched. “But I could. Maybe. I just…” Did superheroes feel fear? He thought Martin would say they did. “It won’t be easy for me.”

Ian took another breath, closing his eyes to listen for another moment before opening them again to meet Zarrin’s intent stare. “Martin will be home soon. He’s making soup, if you’d like some.”

Zarrin practically wriggled with excitement as he stepped over a line only the two of them could feel.

Hey Revlis!

For your LMK Morro design, is he getting more comfortable not wearing make-up with his cursed soul marks as time goes by?

Also, was/is he afraid of water with the whole Ninjago lore with ghosts poofing when in contact with it?

Ahaha see the reason for his cursed marking stuff is actually that I hate drawing them because they’re impossible to draw consistently in the LMK style, but I keep writing myself into a corner with situations where he has to go around without any concealer on to cover them up unfortunately.

So Morro is always going to hate having those markings, they’re very much not comfortable with practically displaying to the world “Hey, I was a spirit of the damned, look at me”. Thus, after the whole season 3 stuff that happens, they take to carrying around concealer with them everywhere as well as holding onto some spares.

Morro. Doesn’t like showing his markings. And I hate drawing them because they’re so hard to illustrate in a consistent manner.

Although!! At the start of season 4 (don’t worry, no spoilers for anything in canon), we can see that—well I might actually keep this bit to myself for now, only because it makes me kick my feet gleefully at the thought. Let’s just say the marks go through some development for reasons that are connected to my frustrations with drawing the markings and also a former scrapped idea I had for season 4 I wanted to work in. So. Hehehe. Look forward to the season 4 design I’m working on!!

I forgot to answer the second part of the ask shit

Yup! Morro is definitely afraid of large bodies of water. He’s able to like, come into contact with it in a controlled environment without freaking out, but in terms of the ocean specifically he stays away from it. And unexpected contact with water (like if you dumped a bucket of water on him) would get him mildly freaked out, angry, and very tense.

Near-drowning situations (I’m looking at you, scene-where-everyone-almost-drowned-in-season-3-when-the-airship-crashed-into-the-ocean) would cause him to have a panic attack. Morro also hates caves and enclosed spaces! Especially humid enclosed spaces, like uncomfortably hot. In terms of a normal enclosed space, he’s fine-ish, depending on how tight it is. When there’s other people there, he isn’t affected at all. But super warm, close-quarters areas get him freaked out no matter how many people are there. It reminds them too much of the cave they died in and they hate that.

Lol sorry went and dived into Morro’s trauma there, didn’t mean to get so deep! Anyways, hope this helps!

"I'd actually think Ayaka is dumb if she were to believe me that having that last dance with you is meant to strengthen our family ties" Guuji Yae finally spoke after she has been brushing Aether's hair who is currently laying his head on her lap. 

"I'd think Ayato is more stupid not to notice your behavior eversince we started dating" He replied and kissed her hand. 

The door opened revealing Kujuo Sara holding a bag of snacks. 

"Why thank you Sara for your service" Miko said while Sara handed the bag. 

"Don't you feel any guilt that you're flirting with Ayaka's boyfriend? What if I tell Ayato huh?" Sara spoke, trying to correct her best friend. 

"My dear, Kujuo Sara. Who on earth would believe you? No one, and you already know what would happen if you turn your back against me? Your whole family will fall into shambles" Miko smirked, it's like she already has her hand wrapped around Sara's neck. Manipulating her with all her wrong doings. 

"What now Sara? You're forced to stay quiet" Aether added. 

Sara just stood there disgustingly looking at her friend's affair. She can't do anything correct because her family's life is on the line.

You wiped your tears away and looked up to see who was this person who saved you. You analyzed your surroundings to see the people staring at you are completely taken back. 

Kamisato Ayato, covered you with his coat while your hands were pressed on his chests and his arms wrapped around you. 

"I'm sorry for cutting your hair off… I believe I haven't apologized to you" He softly said to you while he brushes your hair with his fingers. 

"I'm scared" You replied and leaned your head onto his chest. The two of you are talking as if no one else was in the room, you don't know why he was doing this. You thought that he hates you but this is also the same for him, he doesn't know what made him step forward and protect you when everyone else is attacking you. 

On the contrary, Kamisato Ayato looked behind you to see the birthday celebrant walk away, no tears were streaming. Then, he looked at you crying at him. Obviously, this made Guuji Yae ``heartbroken`` to make everyone pity her and make them hate you. Everyone is oblivious that she was just acting, that she doesn't even like Ayato one bit. 

The next thing you knew you were thrown back to the floor to see Ayato grinning at you holding a cup of wine. 

"Y-you think I'm going to be your K-knight in Shining A-armor? You're so stupid Y/N." He stutteringly shouted before he shakingly splashed the wine he was holding by his hand. It's not obvious with his expression but deep inside Ayato's heart, he doesn't want to do it, he doesn't want to hurt you but the damage was already done. He was doing all this for Guuji Yae, the sane Guuji Yae who is fooling him and his sister.

You've become a laughing stock and before everyone imitated him, you've felt cold and hot liquids being splashed at you together with some pastries that you can't identify. 

She's so dumb. 

Look at her, she's more fitting to be called a garbage now. 

She had her hopes high when Ayato did it but damn! It was so unexpected that Kamisato Ayato pulled that card. 

Didn't he sound hesitant when he pushed her away? 

Eh? I don't think so. 

You deserved it bitch! Mommy's not coming to pick you up here.

Your vision starts to blur with the pain that you're feeling mentally and physically and the last straw was when someone strikes you in the head with the huge and heavy glass bowl leaving you unconscious. This has made Ayato take a step backward to see how that student strikes you. The blood from the back of your head was merely seen but it was obvious that you were bleeding. 

"What have you done?" Kamisato Ayato shouted at the student, he didn't expect that the other students would follow what he did. This isn't what he hoped for. 

"I should be the one asking that" ??? 

Kamisato Ayato was thrown off to the floor as well to see his best friend, Diluc. Punching him in the face really hard. 

"Man, I thought you'd already change. Didn't know you're still a dick" Diluc said and punched him again and again on the floor until he started to choke out blood. 

"D-diluc! Stop!" Childe pulled him away by his shoulders. Lumine came in forward to check your pulse, she's so scared she might not feel it anymore but luckily it was there, it was weak but at least you still have a pulse. 

"Brother?" Everyone looked in the direction where that voice came from. 

"A-ayaka! It's not what it looks like!" Ayato quickly stood up and ran towards his sister even if his clothes were covered with some shades of blood. 

"Don't touch me!" She firmly said. 

"Y-you promised me! You won't bully anyone anymore! Since when was this happening? Did you hide this from me? Look at her! Y-you almost killed her to death! You don't even know what I'm feeling right now! I can't even find my boyfriend, I- I don't know where he is, now. What if he's cheating on me?" Ayaka said while she was crying.

"A-aether won't do that- I'm sorry. Let's just go home okay?" Ayato replied.

A tall blonde man walked towards the scene. The atmosphere of the room looked like in any horror movies where everyone is afraid when something shows up 

"S-sir! Dainsleif!" Lumine looked up to see one of her teachers. 

"Diluc, if you may. Please bring her to the hospital immediately." He ordered which Diluc nodded as he carried you up in his arms which was then followed by Lumine, leaving Childe on the scene. It looks like he wants to find out something. 

Before Diluc and Lumine left the residence, he gave Ayato a death stare that made the man with lilac eyes nervously gulp.

"Kamisato Ayato, the heir of the Kamisato clan. Being one of the investors of this school doesn't give you the right to be immune to the rules of this school. You are suspended for a month, I'm sorry. Please leave now and think about the poor girl you bullied. Leave, NOW." Dainsleif ordered which scared Ayato that prompted him to drag his sister outside. 

"And all of you will receive a huge deduction on your grades. Do you know the girl you just bullied? She is Y/N L/N, the daughter of Iliya L/N. She holds a much higher status in the country even with the Yae Family and Kamisato Family combined. Her family is the founder of this school and it's a shame that the students here aren't well disciplined. I'm pretty sure no one is aware that she has the power to kick each one of you in the school immediately while destroying your reputation. Unable to study anymore. It wasn't known in public about what happened to their daughter. If anyone has a concern about how unfair it is regarding the huge deduction on your grades will be immediately suspended. The party is over" Dainsleif said and walked towards where Venti, Zhongli, and Raiden were.

"If anything bad happens to Y/N, I'm going to force him to repent for his wrong doings" Diluc said as he drove his car at 100mph to the hospital. It was unfortunate that the hospital is far away from the Yae's residence.

"W-wait where's Childe?" Lumine said as she held you tight at the backseat. 

"I thought he was with you, you mean he didn't follow?" Diluc replied with an annoying tone.

"Let's think of him later, Archons! Please make Y/N alright-" Lumine can't finish her sentence because of the tears streaming down her face. 

Twenty minutes later, your friends finally arrive at the hospital and immediately bring you to the Emergency Room. 

"What happened?" The nurse said. 

"Splashed with different kinds of liquid either very hot or very cold and got hit in the head with a huge heavy bowl that broke into pieces. P-please help her!" Lumine pleaded to the nurse. 

"Isn't that Miss L/N?" Another nurse said and your friends nodded. 

"I told you guys not to come back here anymore but it looks like she got herself in a mess again" The nurse's face palmed. 

"Please remain in the waiting area, we can't allow you to see the patient. At this point, she might be put in the ICU for a long time. I assume she got grade 3 concussion and if it's not treated, she might get permanent brain damage. I believe you understand that right?" The nurse said. 

"Y-yes, but can we visit her tomorrow?" Diluc said. 

"I'm afraid you may not… I don't think she'll wake up any soon. Worst case is, she might be in a coma right now or when she wakes up she might be in a state of amnesia. The hospital will contact you if visitors are now allowed" The nurse said and waved their hand at Diluc and Lumine goodbye.

"What now?" Diluc said. 

"I don't know… we should get home now right?" Lumine replied, wiping her tears. 

"I'm going to drive you home but don't worry about me, I'll check on Childe." Diluc said as they walked towards the car and began to drive Lumine home. 

As your friends walked out of the hospital, the doctors immediately brought you to the operating room to see if your skull got cracked open and some of the glass shards went inside your brain. Unfortunately, what they don't want to happen, happened to you. It looks like your old stitches from your accident a decade ago reopened although some of the wounds have already healed but there are just some injuries that never left. 

After so many hours since the operation started, your surgery was a success but you remain unconscious. Not only that you have a brain injury, you also had 1st degree burns from the hot liquids that was thrown into you and it kept on going until your body felt numb from the pain. 

Deep inside your consciousness, you find yourself in a sea of flowers.

The ride home between the Kamisato siblings was quiet not until Ayato began to say something. The tension between the siblings was strong, the air was filled up with anger, sadness, and resentment. 

"Listen, it's, it's not what it looks like" Ayato began to explain but Ayaka wasn't saying anything. 

"I… I really wanted to protect her but I can't hurt Miko-" Ayato stopped. 

"Hurt Miko? Brother, tell me how defending someone would hurt her? To begin with, she doesn't have the right to be jealous or to be hurt because she is not your girlfriend." Ayaka emphasizes that Ayato was being delusional about Miko being his girlfriend because none of that was true to the skin.

"Maybe I'd tell the maids to ground you as well in the house. We don't even know what happened to that poor girl." She added. 

Ayato shut his mouth and began to think, how was he the only person who got suspended? To be frank, Miko is the cause of all this, she planned this to happen and to hurt Y/N. He doesn't even know anymore if he still loves Miko. When you came, she changed.

"It seems that you have been waiting for me to come back here, Childe. Even after we were told to go home." Diluc said while he put his hands on his back pocket after he exited the car.

"Something came to my attention, it's about Miko." Childe replied which gave Diluc a confused face. 

"You mentioned a long time ago how Miko was pretending to be Y/N in order to bring down the Kamisato Family. Don't you think she planned all this to Y/N and Ayato coming up to rescue her wasn't a part of her plan but she was relieved that Ayato did that. In that way, she had two birds hit with one stone. Don't you find that a little odd?" Childe stated 

"I do, let's go find her then." The two best friends walked inside the house to ask the maids to her room but they were warned to knock first. 

"It should be this room," Diluc said and knocked. The man knocked for over five minutes but no one was replying. 

"Didn't the maid say that Miko was in here? This can't wait for tomorrow since we need to check up on Y/N's situation. I have no other choice but to break in." Childe said and opened the door to see her living room empty. 

"Hm? She's not here?" Diluc said while his eyes were in need to search for the pink haired woman.

The two men were startled when they heard a loud moan from one of the rooms. It wasn't just a woman's, but it seems that there is someone else in the room.

"Childe, maybe we should leave—" Diluc said but Childe stopped him. 

"Ayato left, right? Then who is the man with Miko?" Childe said, which made Diluc's eyes widened. 

"Which means, Miko has been fooling Ayato all along—" He added but his voice got a little too loud. 

"Childe! Keep your voice low!" Diluc covered Childe's mouth with hand, almost suffocating him since Childe kept on screaming. 

"Hello?" 

The two gentlemen looked behind them to see Miko who had a tired face while wearing her evening gown. The gown doesn't seem to be properly worn, it's as if she was rushed to put it on. Diluc and Childe didn't say a word and just waved their hand at her, they felt like they were invading her privacy. Miko is confused with the two of them because Diluc is signalling goodbye with his hands but Childe says otherwise, he wants to confirm some things with her. You could tell on Miko's face that these two people are wasting her time when the frustration on her face becomes more obvious. 

"Babe? What's taking you so long?" 

(T-that voice!) Childe can't get this one wrong. He met this person a long time ago because of Ayaka, there's no way he can be wrong. His eyes averted to Diluc who also seemed to freeze in his place, they can't blame themselves for whatever they heard. 

No one was moving a thing until this man walked out of Miko's bedroom. Miko immediately ran towards Childe and Diluc and knelt in front of them. 

"D-don't tell Ayato PLEASE! I-it's not what it looks like! W-we were just talking!" Miko pleaded but the two men didn't seem to answer nor look down at her, all they cared about was the person who went outside, Aether.

"Homewrecker." Diluc calmly said while his body remained in the same place. 

"When I told you that something was odd, we already had our answer. Right in front of our eyes." Childe added, the horror of their faces that shows disgust were seen but Miko on the other hand isn't stopping from begging them not to say a thing about what they saw. 

She knew that she messed up this time for real because the people who saw her affair was no ordinary person she can easily control and manipulate. This wasn't anyone like Kujuo Sara, the people she are talking about is Diluc Ragnvindr and Tartaglia, the best friends of her suitor. Out of all the people, it had to be them. 

Please! 

Don't tell Ayato! 

I don't want to hurt Ayaka! 

It was an accident! 

I'm sorry! 

These were words that were repeatedly coming out from Miko's mouth but Diluc and Childe had one ear open to listen and the other ear threw away what they were hearing. 

In fact, words aren't enough to explain what the two men were feeling. They don't even know where to start. How are they going to comprehend that Ayato's crush is sleeping with his sister's boyfriend? That fact is not yet sinking on them. 

"I don't think we are the right people for you to apologize." Diluc finally spoke after being stunned for a couple of minutes and turned his back followed by Childe. 

"You fooled Ayato that you were his promised wife, didn't you? You wanted to erase Y/N from this world and take Ayato for your selfish desires from your family. You don't like Ayato one bit, do you?" He added, not looking back at her. 

"NO IT'S NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!" Miko finally stood up, her face red from crying. 

"Tell us Guuji Yae, what does this mean? A half naked man walked out of your bedroom where we also followed the unnecessary noises coming out of it. Can you actually make me believe that the two of you were talking? Not only that, this half naked man is the boyfriend of someone else. I don't even know if I should tell Ayato because he's not going to believe us either." Diluc coldly responded. 

"G-get out of here! You're so annoying! You're invading my privacy! INTRUDERS!" Miko shouted loud enough for everyone in the house that caused Childe and Diluc to storm outside as soon as possible. 

The two men ran out of breath when they reached Diluc's car, so quickly that the security wasn't able to catch up on them. 

"T-that is not what I meant by answers but how do we tell Ayato?" Childe said as he was trying to get the bottle of water somewhere in his friend's car. 

"Get me some water too" Diluc said as he was recovering his breath before starting up his car. 

"Isn't there like- A Kamisato Party coming very very soon? I'm pretty sure Miko wouldn't be able to hide everything now that we know it." Diluc added. 

"That annual party? Diluc, that's like— three to four months from now. How long are we going to hide that thing from him? Unless, we hope that Miko does the right thing and breaks up with Ayaka's boyfriend as soon as possible right? But would she? I don't even know man— I don't even know how those two got affiliated with each other— I don't know, archons, this night just keeps on getting worse. First we had Y/N falling into her trap then we thought Ayato saved her face but he just took things way too far that now she's in the hospital again! Then! Ayaka mentioned earlier that her boyfriend might be cheating, it was a shot in the dark. Miko has been quite distant to Ayato these days— and I assumed that, what if Miko and Aether have a connection and it turns out…" Childe was panicking as he started to form his own theory and how in the end he got it right. 

"Your shot in the dark was a bullseye. I can't believe you would assume Aether and Miko would have a connection since those two never interacted in school. I don't think Miko would break up with him after us knowing it since she knows for a fact that she can manipulate Ayato's mind that we're just ruining her for him because of Y/N" Diluc replied, it's already late at night but there's no time to take a rest. He needs to inform the sister of Aether. He stirred the wheel from a direction that leads to their residence. 

"This isn't the road to my house-" Childe paused as soon as he recognized this familiar road they're taking. 

"Yes, we're going to her. I don't think she's already asleep because her brother isn't home yet." Diluc grinned since they needed to work as a team against Guuji Yae. 

"Childe, what do you think of Y/N?" Diluc asked randomly. 

"Y/N? Well, for starters, she seems to be the kind and reserved girl everyone would expect her to be. I… I can't get rid of that image of her earlier, screaming and crying as if she was getting punished for the sins she never committed. I wanted to hug her, protect her, m-man if I had the chance. I would stay with her at her residence and always… watch out for her. I…" Childe stared outside the car's window and gazed at the stars above. 

"You like her?" Diluc nervously asked him, perhaps, he was afraid of the answer his friend would give. 

"Y-yes, archons, it's so hard to tell you t-that- on days you, me, Lumine, Itto and Sara agreed not to visit her when she has fever. I- I was secretly seeing her alone, Lumine caught me red handed when I wasn't attending after school meetings and she followed my car and saw me walking through her residence, d-didn't she tell you?" Childe said, he recalls some of your memories with him of how the two of you study together and you cook him some after school snacks. In fact, his liking towards you grew because of your kindness. He thought to himself that you weren't as bad as how Ayato first described you. You're not a nerd, you don't look like one anymore. You're far more beautiful than Guuji Yae, Jean, Eula, and Sara combined. But, he knows that, he can't have you for himself. You're too perfect for someone like him, he wanted to bottle all of these feelings towards you because he believes that someone like him doesn't deserve you. 

When he saw you crying on the floor, he blamed himself that he was a coward, that he even had the audacity to stop Diluc during that time because he was afraid, maybe if he allowed Diluc to save you. Maybe if he stepped forward to cover up for you, maybe if he informed you about the change of theme. You wouldn't be laying in a hospital bed fighting for your life unconsciously. 

"Jokes aside, I wish I could pick up my phone right now and take a picture of you confessing your feelings to Y/N. You're so red and flustered, man, don't you go in public admitting your feelings for her. Your fangirls would throw a riot against her- on the side note, I think that wasn't a good joke" Diluc laughed, staring at Childe who's dumbfounded thinking about you. 

"Calm down okay? We'll get to the bottom of this." They finally arrived at her residence, and the two men stepped out of the car simultaneously. 

Childe rang the doorbell and anxiously knocked at the door until the door opened revealing the blonde girl still not changing her clothes. 

"It's already late, what brings you two here?" Lumine softly asked. 

"Is your brother, is he home?" Childe asked, which made Diluc look disappointed and confused at him because they literally just saw him a couple of minutes ago half naked in someone else's house. 

"H-he hasn't, why do you want to know if he's home—" Lumine was surprised by Diluc's sudden interference with their conversation. 

"We caught your brother sleeping with Guuji Yae." He directly said. 

"Diluc, I was building up the conversation and you went saying it straightforward to her!" Childe replied.

"I knew it, get inside. This is going to be a long talk" Lumine was frustrated how her hunch turned out to be correct. 

"He's been acting really odd since the first day of school. Every day, it just keeps on getting weirder and weirder. I knew it, I should have realized it sooner. I'm sorry guys…" Lumine apologized and wrapped herself against her knees as she was sitting in the couch. 

"Ayato is going to know this secret during his family's annual celebration. Listen Lumine, this is our plan." Diluc's face turned from indifferent to serious, the three of them gathered closely and carefully analyze how would they work against Guuji Yae and put her family in jail for the murder of the the parents of Y/N and Ayato.

It's been a week since the doctor's allowed one visitor at a time to you inside the ICU. You remain unconscious and stuck in a wonderful dream, day by day the image starts to get clearer and clearer. 

"I like you! And you can't reject me and my feelings" The blue-haired child claimed as he put the flower crown he made to your head. 

"This tempura is yummy!" You giggled in front of this man, annoying him. 

"Hey! Listen to me! I like you okay, we're going to be like mommy and daddy when we grow up!" He added. 

"Isn't that a little too soon for us?" You asked him. 

"It's not! So tell me Y/N, promise me… promise me that you're going to marry me soon when we grow up and we're going to have 10 children, 5 would look like you and the other 5 would look like me!" His eyes looked like stars 

"Y-young master!" Koharu, who seemed to be in her teen years, was about to stop Ayato from saying such things. She wonders how on earth did this child learn where do children come from? 

"Don't— let them be. Lady Y/N and Lord Ayato look good together. It's funny how the young master confessed his feelings like that to her. They're inseparable." The maid said and patted Koharu on her shoulders. 

"Eh??? D-disgusting!" You softly slapped your hand on his forehead.

"T-that hurts Y/N!" The young boy begged you to stop hitting him even if it wasn't painful at all. 

"I, L/N Y/N, will accept your proposal on becoming like your mommy!" You said and the two of you shared a laugh together. 

Not until everything faded away and you found yourself standing in the middle of darkness. These are memories you don't remember happening but it stings your heart because it's been feeling like it's been stolen from you. If all these memories were true then how did you and Ayato end up like this?

Diluc was your first visitor, he came as soon as the doctor informed your friends. He made sure that he was the first person to be here, he wanted to be the first person. He looked at your helpless body lying peacefully. It looked like you were having a good dream. 

"I know you wouldn't hear me Y/N but it seems it wasn't only Childe that started to grow feelings for you." 

The redhead calmly said and put flowers on your vase and prayed for your fast recovery.

Maria Marionette: Maria is absolutely precious and I would die for her. The fact that she immediately started singing during her debut and then released a cover right after?? And she sounds amazing??? I like having her streams on in the background because of how soft her voice is! Bonus points because she streams right when I go to bed, so I can listen to her while trying to sleep!

  For Spraytale's birthday, I figured I'd give a bit of lore. Enjoy.

The lights buzzed in the lab with bulbs that all needed to be replaced soon. Hand written notes covered the desks and corkboards. The handwriting was complete chicken scratch, it stretched the definition of legible. Flasks and vials of unknown liquids lined the work table. The quiet tick of the clock kept time as it's face read 2:15.

   Gaster leaned forward in his chair contemplating what he was looking at, his hamds meeting at his chin like they normally did when he was lost in thought. He had already re-examined his findings numerous times, not being able to believe what he saw in front of him.

   Alphys gently knocked on the door before entering with a fresh pot of coffee. "H-hey, it's k-kinda late, a-and I thought y-you could use some c-coffee" she stuttered. She knew Gaster always stayed up late working, but he usually stopped around midnight. Both of them drank entirely too much coffee, but it's good for keeping someone awake.

   He rubbed his eye sockets, fighting off sleep. "Yes, thank you" he replied. Right as she filled his mug he downed the whole thing, the warmth and caffeine a balm to his weariness. He leaned back in his chair a moment before looking back to Alphys. "Have you heard of multiverse theory?"

   Alphys looked at him slightly confused, "yes?", she wasn't really sure how to react to that question. It was part of her curriculum in college, but she never put alot of thought into it.

   Gaster gave her an exhausted look. It's not often that Alphys saw a skeleton monster with eye bags. He held readings from his most recent machine, a photon reader. Even if it can't get any visual light, it can detect photons. Atleast, that's what Alphys understood about it.

   "There are photon hotspots where there should be nothing."

   Alphys had to look at the readings a second time after hearing that, and then a third. Just as he said, there was the evidence. In what should be a dark void of nothing, were areas absolutely filled with photons. They were like faraway cities in the darkness. And the individual locations varied slightly.

   There was something moving in each of them.

   "S-so what d-do we do ab-bout this?" Alphys asked. She started nervously shifting from foot to foot without realizing it. Thoughts of classroom discussion start filling her head. Theorizing as to possible consequences to this possibility were played around with. Reasons why it would exist, and whether or not contact would be a good idea.

   "I don't know"

   She stood there nervously for an awkward amount of time, her scaly feet were starting to get cold. "Well, w-what if we send a m-message?" she suggested. Even if it's not a good idea, she couldn't stand the silence for any longer.

   ".....it's possible." Gaster answered. "Although, it might make us a target." He pushed his glasses back up, he really needed to get them adjusted.

   Alphys almost asked why, but stopped when she thought back to her class on a different subject. Some other students thought it was interesting to debate as to why aliens haven't contacted anyone yet. Theories varied from them not existing to something called the Dark Forest Theory.

   Her professor was trying to get the class to settle down, so they agreed to explain it if everyone stayed quiet. Essentially, if there was something very dangerous in the universe, then others would be doing the smart thing by not sending out signals detailing where they were or that they exist at all.

   Alphys looked down while thinking, "so d-do we ig-ignore this?"

   Gaster poured himself another cup of coffee into his orange cat mug. He didn't know the name of the character, but it was a gift. "I don't know" he replied bluntly.

   Alphys flinched at his answer, he was always the one with the solutions. To have him not know what to do unnerved her. She started to become even more unsure of herself.

   Gaster must've noticed, he downed his coffee and continued. "These other universes might be friendly, they could even be in the same situation as us concerning the barrier."

   "So w-what you're sa-saying is..." she started to ask.

   "If that is the case, we could pool together our collection of human souls and break both barriers. One at a time" he answered. His mug was still warm from his last cup of coffee. He held it for a bit to warm his hands. He considered getting another cup, but held off.

   "H-how do we de-decide wether to con-contact them or n-not?" Alphys asked. She considered pouring herself a cup. Just the smell was making her awake and alert though.

   Gaster finally gave in and poured another cup. "I wish I knew"

   Some kind of morning talk show was playing on the TV as Gaster sat in his recliner. He put down his mug of coffee, this time in a baseball mug, on the end table so he could read the newspaper. The sound from the TV made for good background noise.

   A large chunk of the Underground collapsed recently, and there was reports about it everywhere. Though resources were limited, efforts were made to help survivors. Some of their stories were in the paper.

There was a note about how one child teleported himself and his brother to safety.

   Gaster nearly fell out of his chair when he read that. He had to read it again to make sure he was seeing it correctly. He sat slack jawed as he read the rest of the article. This child was so young, they were still in stripes. His brother he saved was even younger.

   He put the paper down, considering his options. Was the irresponsibility of sending a child into danger worth it to potentially set everyone free?

   Would he forgive himself if he did that to someone?

          Would he forgive himself if he didn't try to break the barrier that had trapped them for thousands of years?

   He looked again that the paper long and hard, weighing the ethics of each option. What if he trained the kid to do this when they got older? What if it was safer than they thought? Could he make something to assist in case of emergencies?

   No matter what he did, he would likely regret it.

   He sighed heavily, resigning himself to what he felt he had to do. He picked up his phone and texted Alphys.

   "Locate and contact Sans Serif. Hire him for the lab."

Some thoughts on the new expansion(s)

Not my favorite cinematic, but I liked it for the most part. Appreciated the more calm and intimate approach. Dialogue could have been better at some points though.

Anduin is a little generic looking for my tastes. He doesn't look bad, I just feel like you could toss him into most fantasy settings and he would fit. It's a very default protagonist look. Honestly, also reminds me a bit of the Warrior of Light they use in FF14 cinematics.

Alleria's going to look damn good though

Would not have guessed we'd be going all Journey to the Center of the Earth, but I AM FEELING IT!

The Shadow Priest's ex-knife returns and I am for it! Can't help but love the "edge of a knife" line in the trailer

All the new zones look damn interesting

Eager for the Nerubians, love those guys and I am expecting some friendlies. Somewhat mixed feelings on the look of the "evolved" Nerubians, but I like them overall

Isle of Dorn is intriguing. I love the Earthen and was expecting Titan-forged based on lore tidbits we've seen, so nothing shocking. Really enjoy the look of their buildings, it's a great take on the Dwarven aesthetic. Little bummed we don't seem to be getting anything that looks like the Northrend & Deepholm Earthen stuff.

New gryphons look dope

Earthen as an allied race is unexpected but very welcome! Would not have guessed they'd be neutral, but I am very grateful for that. May not be the most unique addition Alliance-wise, but seeing them in the Horde really gets me. Will probably elaborate on why in a later post.

Like the gemstones and SHOCKED Blizz actually gave the female Earthen beard options (love to see it)

Disappointed but not surprised that they don't get druids. Come on! Vrykul have them! Plus, could have had an Eonar connection

Ringing Deeps will probably be cool, but it kind of excites me the least for now. Do love the whole "underground cavern, pierced with sunlight from above, covered in plant life" thing though

Hallowfall caught me the most off guard

Underground neutral human civilization, descended from the Arathi, big light crystal, underground sea of monsters, air ships, Holy Fire, intense (and potentially dangerous, at least for us) faith in the Light. Goddamn. Might really have something here.

I am always in favor of potentially exploring different human cultures outside of the Alliance. That said, kind of a bummer that it's just another flavor of fantasy Europe like we always get.

Dragonriding coming to other mounts was expected, but nice to get confirmation

Hero Talents are very intriguing. Looking forward to seeing if they pull them off. If nothing else, the archetypes that come out of it will probably be fun to mess around with. A lot of the classes don't really have super unique "Hero archetypes" firmly established, so it'll be fun to see what they come up with.

Announcing 3 expansions at once is pretty ambitious, gotta say

Going back to Quel'Thalas to defend the Sunwell is gonna be cool. Lots they could do story and world-building wise.

No no cause like. Um. Okay. This is mostly just rambling and it’s been a while since I actually played three houses so I may get some lore wrong but anyways. here’s my transfem dimitri headcanon

So in Dimitri’s C support with Catherine they talk about how when Catherine first met him as a kid she thought he was “an adorable young maiden wielding a giant lance” or whatever and this is when Dimitri’s like. 9 or something. And we see that he’s pretty feminine as a kid! Understandable that people would mistake him for a girl but a lot of people saw this and thought he’s transmasc which is valid but. my point of view is that maybe he liked to look feminine and thought it was fun to be seen as a girl when he was a kid but then everything happened he lost his family he watched a massacre he was useless in stopping a genocide he became a teenager he had every burden resting on his shoulders alone and he just had to. cut it all away. He had to be strong and hide every single “wrong” thought deep inside his head. The child he was could no longer exist.

Later on, on the night of the ball at the academy, he refers to this time as a child the happiest days of his life. Part of that fondness for his childhood was that he felt free from burdens then. Both the burdens of the dead and the burdens of being a prince. The burdens of having to present himself as a perfect, strong, masculine prince.

His hair during the academy arc is also very… choppy. And messy. Dimitri doesn’t care for himself much and doesn’t put much care into his hair. Maybe there’s something more to that that he’s not aware of. Maybe he hates having his hair that short.

Post-timeskip, regardless of if he’s exiled from Faerghus or not, he grows his hair out. Obviously this was due to the developers not wanting to completely change his model and portrait for Crimson Flower despite the fact that there’s no reason for him to look like a sopping wet cat but!!! He also is starting to grow his hair out in Three Hopes! I genuinely think he just prefers it long.

(obviously men can have long hair and different cultures have very different ideas about how hair relates to gender and how different genders should wear their hair. and we do see that both Dimitri’s father and uncle both have medium length hair as well. as well as like. a large portion of the male characters. and you could say that Dimitri’s tendencies towards long hair is more related to him wanting to be a king like his father in some way! but hear me out. it can be both. everyone’s got different experiences with gender)

I’m not gonna get too into like. Fódlan and Faerghus specifically and their gender norms and different expectations for men and women and the fact that the only gnc character in the game is one of the people who has to hide underground in Abyss but um. those factor into everything trust me

Oh another thing. Dimitri always wears armour and gauntlets that cover up everything. The only student who wears armour as part of their school uniform. It’s never brought up why in game and like sure it’s probably due to the issues™️ and there’s likely plenty of scars he doesn’t want others to see but. well. he really doesn’t like seeing himself huh.

There’s also that whole thing with seeing himself as inhuman and a monster. I’m not sure how to connect it but I feel like it. plays a factor in the gender situation.

Okay so like. shit happens yada yada yada and Dimitri’s going through it and let’s fast forward to post-Azure Moon when he really has time to actually. examine himself. when he made the choice to live.

I think that. It would be. A process. But she’d figure it out. I think she would be happy. And so would her friends :)

So we went to this theme park in Waterloo, Iowa. Lost Island. It started as a water park but now they have a theme park across the street. Opened a year ago. It's so cool, they put lots of thought into it! They have "realms" like water, fire, spirit, earth, air..

The spirit one is a bunch of kiddie rides and playground stuff. Each realm has a cool play feature. The fire has a fountain, theres 4 spots to place your hands that activate special parts of the fountain. And of course if all are activated at once, you get a bit of a show. The air realm has some music and more play stuff. There's splash pads and the earth realm has a sand pit with fossil features to uncover.

They have their own characters! And the app!!

They have an interactive app, and if you're one of those people who like to collect medals and arbitrary checkpoint things, you'll love it. Theres dozens of medals to earn in the app, and the animation is beautiful.

They have a 3D shoot-em cart ride. It keeps score and shows you the results. Its got a good story, not just the ride, but the whole park. You get bits and pieces of the lore on each ride. Its very cool. And the 3D ride has animatronics, since they're new they look SO good.

And also the rides are nice. More comfy and safe than some of the ones at Adventureland.

Like Adventureland used to have a log ride. You hop onto these constantly moving flumes, straddle a bench and hold on to slippery metal bars on the side. Then you go down two coaster hills.

This one had seat belts, covered bars and a board to brace your feet. The other log ride, there was no traction or support whatsoever.

And we got moderately wet. A nice even spray. Very nice.

This place needs more attention. It was totally dead. There were more staff than guests about.

Speaking of which, the staff were lovely. They were very diligent in doing their checklist duties. And they were all nice. Some were fun.

The only thing i wasnt impressed with was the food. They had some gourmet sounding shit, but... Some of it was super lackluster. Not all of it though. The noodle bowl was good. Expensive though.

Also the drink choices. The tea was the most disgusting thing ever, no one carried sweetener and the water tasted weird. I got diet coke out of desperation..

Also if you buy a souvenir cup, its free refills. So thats nice. Usually theres a charge.

But anyway. I liked it. It's a small park and it was dead so we didnt have any lines. One ride was broken but they got it fixed and we got to ride. It was one everyone was looking forward to and its one of my favorites now.

Also the weather was pretty good. It was a bit too sunny and warm only for like an hour. Otherwise it was pretty nice and overcast.

They had more than just characters to portray their story, they actually had cast! There was a show in the middle of the realms telling the story. I think I saw them all playing "Mother, May I" with some kids later. Their show was interactive too. I thought they were cool, so I got a pic with them. 😁

We're thinking about getting a few season passes next year. Its like 300 bucks a person, but its free admission into both the theme and water parks, and discount on food. Apparently 7 trips would pay for it. 👀 So we may do that instead of vacation next year..

I'm so sad they're so dead, its a good joint. The rides are good. I did almost get a concussion on a coaster, but.... 👀💧 Now that I know when to BRACE..

I really hope they get more attention soon or they're not gonna last long 😩

the cg was astounding really, I had big doubts but it really did look great, however it can never beat traditional animation no amount of flashy particle effects can beat actual sakuga the story didn't really do anything, it felt like a filler episode even if it's canon, it felt like an excuse just to introduce new characters and transformations for merch and the games, "But Silver that's every movie!!" and yeah but at least BoG and Broly had lore and stuff gohan beast kicked cell once and did the makankosapo and that was it, VERY lame, I love gohan and piccolo so it was nice for them to get some spolight instead of it always being the goku show BUT I wish beast actually got to fight some like gogeta blue 😔 it was neat seeing RR again and all those old dragon ball moments reanimated as someone who's watched the original too

before starting the ep I was looking for a tl of the manga so I can devour it next, was just gonna read it after the ep but ended up going through all of chap 1 anyway tehe anyway it was good at the start of the ep I thought it was gonna cover more than just chap 1 cause of the pacing but ended up just being all of chap 1 which is fair enough I guess they played it by the books and didn't deviate from the source at all was hoping for a bit of sakuga when he does the jutsu at the end but was basically the same as the manga just with a bit more spice it's got a star studded cast tho I'm looking forward to it, and I will be plowing through the manga like I said there

Jigokuraku Ch1 - 11

like I said up above I'm gonna be obliterating the manga, it's only 128 chaps so I should be done before the next episode easily, but anyway I hadn't read this before but I did read Kaku's newest manga, Ayashimon, while it ran on jump. I liked it but it unfortunately got axed at 25 chaps. tho just from the 1st chap of jigokuraku I can tell that the gap between them is a massive and it's cancelation is more understandable now. anyway onto jigoku, it's good. simple as that. the art is as good as it was in ayashimon but the story and all the characters are just much more interesting, and I'm only like 1/10th in. don't got much more to say cause of how little I've read so far, but I'll certainly be finished before next saturday really looking forward to Takarie's performance as yuzuriha after seeing how she is in the manga

angels and demons gain power based on how many people believe in them, so what would happen if a group of demons was one of the most popular idol bands in japan?

that's the premise of the series. michael shows up to defeat some demons and gets obliterated because he has 5 "faith" compared to the demon's 530k, so he decides to become an idol too in order to level the playing field. over the next few chaps more of the archangels join and hijinks ensue. it was alright, it's strongest point was certainly the art, from chap 1 til the end it was consitently good, with very clean visuals and great designs, however the story wasn't too impressive, it stuck to doing the "monster of the week" thing for a while and when the threat of cancelation became apparent it started to introduce more plot but it wasn't interesting enough and it was too late to save, after which it rushed to the ending trying to hit the big plot moments they prob had planned from the beggining. it's a shame really, I quite liked it, the cast was likeable and as I said the art was good, I will be looking forward to whatever the author's next work may be

Dungeon Meshi Thoughts 05

I think this will be the last of these Dungeon Meshi posts before I catch up because I’m finding it very hard to put down. Judging by the names of the next few chapters I’m on the edge of the fight with Thistle The Mad Sorcerer so I thought I’d stop off here and leave my thoughts before continuing. So this post is going to cover chapters 51-67. My spoiler filled thoughts down below past the “Keep reading”.

Last we left off, our intrepid heroes had just learnt of Senshi’s backstory and helped him overcome a great trauma in his life, the belief that he might have eaten his comrades in order to survive. Now, having been changed into different races because of the changeling mushrooms, the group talks about the differences in the ages of the races, which in hindsight after learning of Marcille’s desire, makes me realize how important this conversation was. It also makes me wonder how old Marcille really is. The story at multiple times obfuscated attempts at learning about her age. Has she somehow already learnt the way to increase her own lifespan as her worries about people dying on her due to age seem a little too real to be just worries for the future. And her traveling around picking up random bits of knowledge while also landing on forbidden magic screams someone who’s lived so long all they  can do now is gather knowledge. Marcille’s backstory, for being supposedly so old, is still so vague.

Getting back to the story, the main draw of the cooking in a fantasy setting has been the fact that they get to try all these sorts of wild creatures that would never exist in our world. But leveling that up and creating a whole new method of cooking, through changing things with the changeling mushrooms is such a great evolution of the lore of this world and classic fantasy staples. 

We also learn quite a bit about Laois and Falin’s backstory over the course of these chapters. The key motivation of Laios leaving his hometown was that he was sick of the people there, namely his parents with how much he didn’t want to look like his dad. His main regret was leaving Falin, which is why he’s trying so hard to get her back. His motivation, of wanting a world of harmony speaks to more of a desire of adventurers, to see a world that they haven’t seen before through Laios’s kindhearted view.

It’s a much vaguer wish, with an emphasis on discovery than someone like Marcilles wish, which, while grand, is very concrete. Maybe that’s why the Lion chose him, as such a vague wish is easy to manipulate. One other thing that stood out to me was that both Laios and Falin were engaged before it fell through. In between the cracks of what we know they have a whole set of lives and personalities. I want to know what Laios in love looks like so bad. The little scene of little Falin eating alone is so precious and heartbreaking. I just want the best for these siblings. 

Sharing food as a form of love, for both of the siblings, shows how much they both care about the party. Two small moments that followed this revelation that I loved were Marcille crying because she realized how much Falin loved her and Izutsumi acting literally like a cat as she comforted Marcille.

Izutsumi should be the blueprint for all catgirls going forward, the authour really hit a homerun when they made her.

The group also comes to the conclusion that they can eat her to fix her, calling upon the help of all their allies so far. With where I’m at now, with the characters as divided as they are and the Lion manipulating Laios, I can only say this was an overly hopeful dream. 

We then go over to what I now consider to be the manga’s secondary protagonist, Kabru. Who once again, I dearly love. I love all of the characters but Kabru is just great in so many ways. And we see his determination in not letting a repeat of Utaya, his hometown, happen again. We see how the dungeon has corrupted others and in an effort to drive out campers and get Thistle to come to them, the canaries incite desire in people by flashing money. Originally they seemed outright evil, but I should’ve known better as it’s never that straightforward with Dungeon Meshi. The Canaries are either royals or criminals who’ve meddled with dark magic, signified by clipped ears. This makes me wonder if Marcille has any relation with the Canaries because is she somehow authorized to learn forbidden magic? The Canaries seem like a lifetime membership though. 

Misurn and Kabru manage to get one over on Thistle and just as Misurn is about to end Thistle, Kabru realizes that he needs answers. A bad faith take of this situation, upon learning of the demons and the dungeon mechanics, as well as Kabru’s later desire to stop Laios, would be to say this was just extending the story through a plot convenience. And it really very easily could have been. But this goes back to the systemic issue of the older races, dwarves and elves, not trusting the younger races. Seeing them as naive and impulsive. Kabru forcing this information out is one of the reasons I love him so much. 

While I think some naivety is needed, Kabru looks forward to a world like the one Laios and Marcille look forward to but in a much more realistic sense. He understands the first thing that needs to happen, even before a magical resetting of the race’s ages, is that they need to trust each other. And that’s something we see happen on a smaller scale with our party.

Next, we learn Chilchuck’s backstory. He turns out to be a father and a husband, and through Marcilles incredibly empathetic prediction, we learn most of how the separation with his wife went.  After Senshi, Chilchuck comes in as the second most known about party member, though we still don’t know why or how he got into adventuring. While filling out the role of the rogue in the party, he is also the most wholesome, having raised his daughters and loved his wife.

Next we learn about Marcille’s backstory. And even though we learn quite a lot about her, by the simple virtue of being an elf, there’s still a whole lot more we don’t know about her. This also drives home Marcille’s desire to eliminate the differences between races. With Chilchuck and Senshi, them belonging to a younger race and being younger respectively, we’re able to learn their backstories quite fast. Marcille, being an elf, has that much more of a distance between her and her companions as she has so much more ground to cover on formative memories and motivations. Also on a personal note, finding out that Marcille got into dungeon crawling because she’s basically that world’s equivalent of a flatliner is the dorkiest, stupidest, and funniest thing about her. She’s such a loser(affectionate), I love her so much. Her being into a dorky prince like person as her one true love comes second to that. But going back to it, Marcille is so intrinsically tied to the siblings that it’s just as much her story as it is theirs. 

The next little bit has a few fun moments I want to mention. One is that the Dullhan looks like such a cool monster that I hope we see it again. Another is that I love how the story of the succubui helps Izutsumi come to terms with her animal nature so organically. It’s such a brilliant use of monsters to help realize the protagonists character arcs, you know I’m writing this down for future TTRPG use. Also Chilchuck’s wife is blonde, that’s so wholesome, he’s such a good husband. Them losing to the succubi because of Marcille’s lame taste is also so on brand. Though I would’ve thought Marcille would’ve seen Falin with how much they seem to care for her. I thought the story was alluding to a romantic relationship between the two of them but I guess I’m wrong as it sets it up that Laios sees Marcille as his type. Also Izutsumi is god tier ace rep. 

We then meet the lion, who looks adorable by the way, and we learn that it wants to help Laios become the new lord of the dungeon and that Thistle is keeping it trapped. From what we learn later, it looks like Thistle was able to keep the dungeon safe for so long because he locked up the lion, preventing it from feeding on his desire more. The lion also probably manipulated the people of the kingdom to make them aid Laios in such a specific way. As we later learn from Kabru's perspective, Demons are beings from a dimension of infinite energy that grow strong by feeding on people's desires. 

Here's where I think Dungeon Meshi delivers another masterstroke of storytelling. All throughout so far, we've been very clearly watching the world through our characters' eyes, learning what they want to learn about, being curious about what they want to be curious about, and more specifically learning about the characters themselves from little moments of dialogue to big chunks of backstory. And this has gotten us invested in the characters without much thought to the world. But now the world is developed in such a major way through the Canaries and The Demons and especially our characters' relationships with these two, specifically the Demons, that we can't help but care about the world as well. The main crux of the demon's powers being gained through desire lets the story function through the wants and needs of our main characters, making us, the audience, at the very least, understand, if not root for their desires. Desires that could very well destroy their world. It puts us at odds with the story as much as our characters are. It's genius.

Going back to the story once again, we follow Kabru as they tail Laios along his journey and we once again see that Kabru makes a quick and impulsive decision to follow Laios so he can speak with him one more time. Kabru is always quick to come to conclusions; we saw as much from his first interaction with Laios, where he chooses not to blame him for his party's death and gets a read on him instantly. It's one of his greatest strengths, but also could become one of his greatest weaknesses. Thankfully, up until now, it's worked out, but going forward, it could very well backfire as Kabru doesn't second guess himself enough to fully consider his assumptions.

Finally, on to the last stretch of events before I put it down to write this, our heroes come across Thistles cabin and partially free the winged lion after eating some phoenix.

The birth of the lion from the book as well as the whole sequence with Misurn and the goat are incredibly horrific.

As a horror fan, my love for this manga increased tenfold with the recent developments. The lion also looks like a biblical angel after it’s birth.

The imagery is absolutely breathtaking here.

Also I really like Misurn as both a character and a plot device. He’s so single minded about revenge but he also has a lot of personality even if that comes from having his desires taken away.

I also love how Kabru as a human matches wits with these supposed mature races. He meets them equally and I couldn’t be prouder of my boy. 

Our heroes also attempt to kill some rabbits for Falin and things go horribly wrong with Marcille being the only one left to fend for herself in one of the funniest moments in the series where she has a ghoulish dance troupe with dead rabbits and her fellow party members.

Speaking of the rabbits, if anyones watched Re:Zero they reminded me a lot of the snow rabbits but like a 100% more messed up.

But here we get another moment that makes me wonder what Marcille has actually gone through.

She talks about how it would make her feel if everyone died like she has some experience.

I’m still mad that the story skipped over her age. Is she like a thousand years old or something? What’s your deal girl? How’d you get so adorkable? But really. Marscille’s actions make me feel like she’s not that old but hints to her backstory suggest she is. It’s so weird. Going into this next part, Kabru is still my favourite but with how much of a loser she is Marcille is a really close second. And the fact that she’s such a capable wizard makes it a hundred times funnier. We love emotionally unstable dorks here. 

Also, I absolutely love the crying faces in Dungeon Meshi, they pack so much gentle emotion into them.

Anyways, they feed Falin and take her out before getting ready to fight Thistle. That’s where I stopped reading and right after posting this I am going to go back, I’ve been away from this for way too many days. With Kabru also converging on this point I don’t think this fight will turn out like a typical fight. There are way too many factors involved to accurately predict anything. Though it would be wild if Laios becomes the lord of the dungeon. Knowing how subversive and nuanced this story gets I wouldn’t put it past it. Our heroes have suffered so much, I just want a win for them at this point. With being on what I feel like is the precipice of a major plot point, I can’t really speculate much or analyze much as it all feels like it leads to the immediate next part. Like all the build up has been for a very specific set of circumstances that I probably won’t be able to predict. See ya next time when I've caught up! Ben 10 lore that exists in my heart regardless of canon

- Ben’s personality in his mid-late teens is a mix of his Alien Force and Omniverse self. On the surface, he’s very cheerful and kind even if he is a bit of arrogant showoff. He makes jokes and plays around and acts as if he isn’t bothered by the things in his life. Those who know him best understand a good portion of his outward confidence and cockiness is just a facade to cover up his insecurities and to project the ideal, effortless hero. While sometimes seen as immature, most beings know Ben 10 means business as he takes his unofficial job and people’s safety very seriously. He’s clever, adaptable, charismatic and empathetic which makes him a formidable opponent and a loyal friend. Doesn’t open up easily but if you get to him, he become so dearly attached. 

- Drinks smoothies so much for several reasons. Comfort food go brrr, reminds him of the good easy times with him Gwen and Kev. It’s also a light but generally nutritous food to give him energy for heroing. Anything too heavy and he’ll be puking (both from physical and emotional stress). Though he jokes about his mom��s health foods, his are a crazy concoction of add in proteins and vitamins/minerals bc he knows he’ll out and out collapse without it. (Still has on occasion bc boy still doesn’t eat right/enough)

- While Fame is exciting for him at first he soon begins to detest it. Not the fans, no, he can’t bring himself to hate the people who look up to him. But he hates the constant attention, that he can’t walk outside without being mobbed. the only place he feels safe is his hometown where most people are so used to him and his weirdness that they don’t react much anymore. Takes to wearing a cape and face shield when going out anywhere so he can actually get things done without being recognized and mobbed.

- Part of the reason Bellwood isn’t concerned with Ben is partially because ben’s been weird and alien for as long as they can remember but also many don’t realize how famous/powerful he is. Yeah that’s just Ben Tennyson over there, sometimes he turns into funny creatures- wait what do you MEAN he’s the savior of the universe?? He cried over a spilled smoothie the other day.

- Does mostly online schooling by the time he’s 15. At first he tries to do half day things to maintain something of a normal life but it quickly becomes overwhelming and dangerous him/the school. Finishes his GED early but the Plumbers and Azmuth make him take additional college level and alien courses to prepare him for his future role. Ben gripes but really does love learning all these things, especially on his terms (ADHD and stress + the public school system do not always go hand in hand). He’s a quick learner when he deems the information important and is made accessible to his learning needs.

- Ben definitely has ADHD speaking of which, it was nearly uncontrollable as a child bc his free-spirited parents didn’t believe in medicating. Ben convinced them he needed it and after some trial and error, found meds that worked. As he became more involved in heroics/growing up he had to change his medicine regimen (resulting in him being a bit more off the rails in OV) and needed antidepressants and therapy to manage it better. As an adult he has a whole litany of coping mechanisms (good and bad yes) and regularly checks in with his therapist and doctors to keep things under control. 

- Has a complicated relationship with his necrofriggian children. Considers himself their mother and worries after them. They too feel a connection to their parent despite this being unusual for their species. A few visit (some more than others) while they grow while others maintain distance. Ben never breathes a word of them to the media for fear of them being targeted. Still he keeps an eye on them and ensures all 14 mature to adulthood (another rarity for the species). Checks in every now and again with the ones who don’t want to see him and those that do. Two join the Plumbers and Ben is both proud and worried. His youngest becomes partners with Rook Ben.

- Just in general loves kids, they’re his favorite fans and while he’ll grumble at pushy adult fans he always smiles and kneels down for the little ones. Not so secretly wanted to have children of his own but knew it was a risk overall and used a lot of that energy with mentoring and teaching. Eventually had Kenny later in life (late 30s-40s) and was over the moon, becoming such a loving and doing parent or as much as he could be with his hectic schedule. 

- Omnitrix can’t come off, never has at any point since it first latched onto Ben’s arm. Azmuth tried and failed to get the device off, doesn’t let Ben know for many years as he feared the consequences. The watch loves and protects Ben even beyond it’s programming making him much more durable to damage and releasing energy charges when he’s threatened. Not even removing Ben’s arm would separate them. They’re stuck for life.

- Ben does have Anodite heritage but the Omnitrix actively suppresses it and uses the built up energy to power the transformations which is why ben is mostly unaffected by what should cause a massive energy drain on him. Theoretically if Ben learned to harness and safely use his Mana at an early age like Gwen he would have been fine but letting it build up without safe outlet meant activation would have killed him. Omnitrix Ben, however, went his whole life not knowing of his latent abilities and how the watch saved his life.

- Ben’s eyes get more green and glowy as time passes from the Omnitrix. At first they think its a trick of the light but by the time he’s an adult his eyes are pretty much glow in the dark. His veins light up too after long stretches of using the Omnitrix. Its vaguely unsettling to people who aren’t used to Ben.

- Max and the Earth Plumbers work so, so hard to keep teen Ben on Earth when half the universe is blowing up their comm lines asking for The Ben 10 to help with whatever problem of the day. Ben himself doesn’t quite understand when he’s younger the prestige and expectations on his shoulders. Max throws up a million and one roadblocks so Ben can live as normal a life as possible while he still can. Still, while doing that he Still overloads Ben with expectations and responsibilities on earth and beyond. He becomes a soldier again with Ben as their greatest weapon. He never forgave himself of losing sight of his grandson underneath the hero esp after Ben’s breakdown. 

- Rook partnership with Ben ends not long after Omniverse with his promotion to Magister. Ben tries to play it cool but the thought of another loved one/teammate leaving his tears him apart. Max revealing that Ben most likely wouldn’t get a new Plumber assigned partner since he’s almost an adult and won’t need it and Rook accidentally missing their last smoothie run due to a scheduling mishap causes Ben to snap and have the nervous breakdown that had been building for almost a decade. He completely loses it for a little while and needs to take an extended leave of absence from school and heroics that lasts about a year. Spends time recovering both on Earth and Galvan Prime, does some diplomatic training, learns about aliens, actually confronts the stress and loneliness of his life. He comes out the other side stronger but still fragile and exhausted.

- Ben’s above mentioned breakdown brings him closer to all his friends who didn’t quite realize the extent of Ben’s burden. Rook had been under the impression Ben didn’t like him all that much so the knowledge that his departure was the final straw for friend/hero’s collapse was shocking. Ben and Azmuth also become closer, the Galvan becoming fiercely protective of the boy seeing as his Earth family didn’t do well to keep him safe. It takes years for him to get over his anger at Max for putting so much on his grandchild. Ben makes more friends, in and out of the hero business, finally gets a therapist and gets some of his burdens eased a bit. It’s not a sure fire fix and Ben has several smaller breakdowns the rest of his life but its something.

- Azmuth was straight up suicidal before he met Ben for the first time. Ben gave him back hope for the universe and his ability to create items for peace not weapons. The boy infuriates him, frightens him, frustrates him but Azmuth cannot deny in his heart of hearts that he loves Ben dearly. He’s very upset at Ben’s breakdown and doesn’t know how to handle the worst of the initail outbursts. Azmuth talks Ben down from a suicide attempt. He reaches out to Ben that he Too felt overwhelmed by pressure, thought himself only good for war. Ben’s arrival in his life saved him and now he will do the same for Ben. It’s the first positive step forward in Ben’s recovery.

- For no other reason than I like it, Azmuth primarily refers to Ben as Benjamin (mostly to annoy the kid but he likes the way it sounds too) and Ben in softer, more serious moments. 

- Professor Paradox continues to flit in and out of Ben’s life. He says its because Ben is the most equipped to handle universal peril (true) but he’s also just very fond of the boy. Ben, existing in so many forms and having such importance also exists a beat outside of normal reality which Paradox identifies with. Ben is naturally attuned to time related problems because of this (instantly IDing Spanner as from the future before being told later deducing him to be his unborn son). Plus Ben named him, way back when. He’s just drawn to Ben.

- Adult Ben, while being seen as an impressively skilled fighter and champion, really has his strength as a universal diplomat of sorts. Based out of Earth, he helps mediate and defuse conflicts, advocate against tyranny and overall preserve peace and balance. He’s not perfect, he makes mistakes and sometimes is forced to become violent (and yes kill) but overall is regarded as a peacekeeper, something younger ben simply couldn’t understand. 

- Gwen gets her degree and primarily does work with advocacy and teaching about magic/alien culture. While she and Ben are still close, there’s a bit of a frustrated divide in that she isn’t helping him share the burden of the universe. Gwen never wanted to be a hero and has enough worth to not shackle herself to a job that’ll burn her out. Ben loves heroing but gives too much of himself away trying to fix everything. They get into screaming arguments that it wouldn’t be so bad out there if she just helped him but she refuses to budge and says he shouldn’t make himself do so much. They always make up and thy still are each other’s closest relationships.

- Ben marries Kai in a political move, Kai is Asexual and Ben Aromantic. They didn’t love each other but they got on well enough and Ben was really feeling the stress of carrying the hero burden so Kai also being involved made him feel like he wasn’t alone. Both were also so tired of the universe constantly asking about their love life and said ‘fuck it we’re married leave us alone’. Gwen was always mad about it feeling Ben deserved better but the two of them were happy with it. They had separate rooms, mostly separate lives but they became strong friends and supports with their strictly platonic marriage. They had Ken via Invitro in an incubator and were loving if extremely busy parents. 

- Also from the moment he appeared, Ben knew that Spanner was his future son, Kenny. He played ignorant and then was kind of deliberately teasing him in future encounters. He knew the rules of time and didn’t want to disrupt things further even if he was angry and worried as heck about why Ken felt the need to time travel. When future Ben catches up in the timeline, Kenny gets SUCH a lecture. 

- Ben isn’t quite immortal but he’s also not entirely human anymore either. The Omnitrix not only keeps him safe from most harm but it lightens the effect of aging. Ben 10 is active many, many years when most humans would have been forced to retire. He’s not sure how long the watch will keep him alive and it terrifies him. Gwen too is functionally immortal however she ages like a normal human, then when her natural death came, shed her skin and became a fulltime Anodite. So in the end, it was her and Ben together wondering which of them will die first. Gwen has trouble retaining her humanity as pure energy and swears she’ll let herself fizzle out when Ben goes. When that’ll be however...

Summary: [Early Season 11 (Before Episode 10)] Sam and Dean think that there's something that can be The Darkness. Castiel warns them but... who knows? Maybe God's ultimate weapon isn't as scary as it seems.

Author's Note: I used dodie for outfit inspiration because the outfit matched the vibe but change it if you want. I only used a female read because it's in the request and it helped with clarity because the whole imagine is in 3rd person (I do usually use they/them pronouns in my work). Finally, I thought the milkshake flavor sounded good, but you can change it in your mind if you want to.

--Third Person P.O.V--

Sam was leaning over a lore book in the library. It was too early for him to be so focused on the book but he felt like he needed to. The Darkness being released was his fault, he needed to find a solution.

Dean walked in from the kitchen with a cup of coffee and was clearly still half-asleep. He sat across from his brother.

"What're you reading," Dean grumbled out in between sips of coffee.

"I found this book about the most powerful beings," Sam explained. "Most of them are just rumored to exist but I thought it'd give us a jumping-off point on where to find something to help us defeat Amara."

"Anything interesting," Dean asked.

"A Nephilim; kid of an angel and a human," Sam said. "There's no mention that they could kill someone as powerful as God. Then there's..."

Sam trailed off and went back through the book, hunting for a particular page he had read nearly an hour ago. He pointed to the page once he found it.

"This doesn't even have a name but it describes a creature created by God to be a weapon," Sam explained. "I was doing some snooping on some message boards when I first found out about it. There's a lot of religious nuts and self-proclaimed hunters who think this thing is gonna be the end of the world. They say it's a prophecy that can't be stopped."

"And you think hunting it down is a good idea," Dean asked.

"Listen, I don't think it's fair to think this thing wants to end the world," Sam replied. "I think it's the best choice we have right now."

"Alright, fine, where do we look," Dean asked.

The boys didn't have to look far before Castiel popped into the library. He asked where they had gotten on their path to defeat Amara. His eyes went wide when they explained what they wanted to do.

"Are you two insane," Castiel asked.

"Listen-"

"No, I know more about this than either of you," the angel stopped Dean's argument. "This creature could kill you both with a look and end the world with a flick of the wrist and you want to track it down?!"

"Isn't it worth trying," Sam asked.

"'Trying,'" Castiel was so unbelievable done with the idiotic decisions of the Winchesters at that point.

"If we don't try something, then Amara kills all of us anyways," Dean said. "We need something Cas. This could be the thing."

Castiel sighed, letting his head fall forward for a moment before looking back up at the boys.

"Fine," Castiel threw his hands up. "Do you know how to find this thing?"

"Looks like a spell," Sam turned the book so Castiel could look at the page. "We should have everything. It's strange no one's tried-"

"Succeeded," Castiel corrected. "People have probably tried if the spell is so simple."

"Okay, good, let's get the supplies and give it a shot," Dean clapped his hands and stood up.

In a matter of minutes, the boys and their angel were back around the table and ready to start the spell.

Castiel and Dean jumped when Sam grabbed a knife and nicked his hand.

"One of us needs to be bonded," Sam explained. "Like a human compass. It feels right that it's me."

He didn't wait for the other two to respond before he started reading the spell of the book. Castiel and Dean exchanged a look for a moment.

As he finished the spell, a purple flame shot up from the bowl for a second. Sam felt his arm tingling from the wound up. He shook it out, trying to understand what it was telling him.

States over, a young girl, a college student visiting home, is sitting in a booth at a small diner.

In between page turns, she sits up straight. Her eyes flash the same purple as the flame from the spell before she snaps out of the trance.

She looks around. Everything feels different. It's like the air had shifted around her. She furrowed her eyebrows... what the hell was that?

--time skip--

Dean pulled the impala up to the curb of the street. The three of them look at the nice house. White picket fence, two stories, a garden.

"Are you sure about this," Dean asked Sam. "This seems like a pretty normal house."

Sam nodded, "I can feel it. It's here."

"Alright, let's go," Dean replied.

The three of them got out of the car and made their way up the pathway. None of them knew what fight they were going to get once they opened that door. It could've been a deadly fight. They may not have even had a chance to fight.

Still, with one last silent check with the others, Dean lifted his hand and knocked on the door.

The last thing they expected was for a girl to open the door with a wide smile. She had a white dress on with an orange cardigan over the top.

"Hello," she said happily. "What can I help you with?"

"Sam," Dean looked at his brother. Sam just nodded. He could feel it in his gut. "What's your name?"

"(Y/n)," the girl replied. "And you are?"

"I'm Sam," the taller man answered. "This is Dean and Cas."

"Nice to meet you," she held a hand out.

Sam awkwardly accepted, shaking her hand. They both froze, eyes flashing purple before they both stepped back from each other.

"That was weird," (Y/n) mumbled, frowning at her hand. "What was that?"

The boys looked at each other but before they could speak, there was a crash from inside the house. The girl jumped.

"Who's that," Dean asked.

"I don't know," she replied. "My parents are gone. No one else is supposed to be here."

Sam and Dean grabbed their guns before all of them walked inside.

Before they could get any answers for themselves, an angel rounded the corner and tried to grab (Y/n), who ran behind the others as soon as she saw the angel.

She stumbled backward toward the wall in shock and fear. She covered her mouth as the more angels walked into her living, not that she knew that's who they were.

Sam, Dean, and Cas were getting thrown around.

"Stop," Sam yelled as they walked toward (Y/n).

"We need something to defeat the Darkness," one of the angels said. "This is our option. Thank you for leading us to her."

(Y/n) was shaking more as she listened. The Darkness? Why was she so important to them? To the boys or the others who had broken into her house?

"Come on, (Y/n)," one of the angels had a hand out to her. She shook her head and the angel chuckled. "Fine. Make this harder."

The others came running at her.

"No," she yelled, dropping to the ground, and covering herself with her arms.

A pulse of energy shot out. The angels that had broken in had burned in front of her.

Dean, Sam, and Cas looked at each other.

(Y/n) slowly looked up from where she was.

"Hey," Sam walked over, kneeling next to her. "You alright?"

"What was that," she asked, shaking. "Who are you? Who were they? What did I do?"

"Hey, hey," Sam touched the girl's shoulders. "It's alright. Hey... how about we go somewhere to calm down? How about some food, yeah? Is there a restaurant nearby or something?"

She nodded. Sam helped her stand up fully and led her to the impala. Dean and Cas sat in the front while Sam and (Y/n) took the backseat.

(Y/n) rambled about a small diner nearby, giving Dean quick directions before falling silent again.

The four of them took a booth in the farthest back corner. (Y/n) sat leaning against the wall, Sam next to her and Cas and Dean across from her.

"Umm... do you know what you want," Sam asked quietly, making (Y/n) aware of the waitress there.

She was an old friend, "You alright, (Y/n)?"

"Yeah," (Y/n) nodded. "I'm just a little tired. Umm... can I get a cherry vanilla milkshake?"

"That it for you, dear," the waitress checked. (Y/n) nodded with a grin, playing with the end of her cardigan's sleeves.

The waitress took the other three's orders before walking away.

"Who were those people," (Y/n) asked. "Why did they break into my house?"

"Because God made you a weapon," Cas said bluntly, making (Y/n)'s eyes go wide.

"A weapon?"

"He means," Dean jumped in, "you have powers that you don't know about. That's why you were able to get rid of those angels."

"Those were angels," she tried to keep her voice down. They all nodded. "I thought angels were supposed to be good?"

"They are supposed to follow orders," Cas corrected. "Not all of them are good."

She nodded, "Are you guys angels?"

"No, well, Sam and I aren't," Dean pointed between him and his brother. "Cas is."

"Oh," she muttered. "You're not-"

"I'm not gonna force you to go to heaven to defeat the Darkness," Cas promised.

"The Darkness," she said. "What's that? Why do I need to fight it?"

"The Darkness is... kind of our fault," Sam explained. "She's trying to create a new world in her image, which includes destroying this one."

"So, how'd you find me," she asked.

Before they could answer, the waitress came back, dropping off their food and drinks. (Y/n) leaned forward and took a sip of her milkshake and grinned to herself for a moment.

The boys were so confused. This was God's weapon?

"Well, Dean and I are hunters," Sam continued once (Y/n) back over to him. "We hunt monsters. Our grandpa was part of this group, the Men of Letters. They have a book in their collection that talks about you. There was a spell that led us to you."

She nodded but furrowed her eyebrows. Monsters? God? Hunters? After what had happened today, she struggled to deny all of it but was still hesitant to believe them?

"Well, if the Darkness knows I can defeat... her... won't she be looking for me too," (Y/n) asked.

"We can keep you safe," Dean promised.

"You're sure?"

"As sure as possible," he nodded.

(Y/n) looked down for a moment, "Okay. I'll go with you. I just... I need to get some stuff from my house and tell my parents that I'll be gone."

"You can't tell them where you're going or why," Dean said. "It'll put them in danger."

She bit her lip, "If it saves them in the long run, fine."

(Y/n) asked a lot more questions that day as they ate in the diner. They told her about monsters and the big bads they had faced. Monsters' weaknesses and abilities. Their other hunting buddies. People she could trust.

Sam, Dean, and Cas trusted her immediately. They felt like they needed to. Like she was a person to rely on.

And there- over a cherry vanilla milkshake- (Y/n) watched her entire life change forever.

Amphibia Series Thoughts (So Far)

The fact that it has taken me this long to write about Amphibia is a crime. This is a criminally underrated show that deserves more than being in the Owl House’s shadow (no shade to the Owl House. It’s an amazing show. I just think Amphibia deserves just as much praise). 

Amphibia has just about everything I could ask for in a fantasy epic cartoon. It has amazing and memorable characters, a fun world with fascinating lore, huge twists, and a lot more. With season 3B underway I thought it was about time I talked about the episodes currently released for Amphibia. Buckle up, I have a lot of thoughts. 

I genuinely love Amphibia so I would like to get my more mixed thoughts out of the way first and then get onto what I love about it so it can end on a high note. Amphibia can be very episodic at points which can be great for a first season that is setting the tone, establishing the themes, and introducing characters before everything becomes serious in a serialized show like this. But the problems arise when it gets later on in the show and the more pressing matters get put onto the backburner for problem of the week type episodes. 

This is especially prevalent in season 3A which, while very entertaining and I love Anne’s parents, suffers from massive mood whiplash with the show going from everything that happens in True Colors to frogs in LA shenanigans and the fact that a lot of plot and character development in Amphibia has to happen off-screen. (If you want to skip the mixed thoughts go down to season 1)

I think the show does a better job of explaining why Anne doesn’t mention Marcy and Sasha or Andrias than a lot of others online seem to because it actually spends quite a bit showing Anne’s avoidance and trust issues. 

Episodes like The New Normal, Fight at the Museum, and Anne-sterminator spend a large chunk of their runtime showing these effects on Anne and how she isn’t coping as well as she would like to portray. That being said I wish there could have been one or two more episodes that take place in Amphibia rather than the human realm.

Episodes like Spider-Sprig and Hollywood Hop Pop are episodes that easily could have been removed and replaced with Amphibia content to keep the plot moving forward. These two episodes specifically retread character growth that has already happened making their place in the story less important and are the only two episodes of 3A that don’t contain plot progression/lore expansion. 

We have so many interesting things happening in Amphibia with the frog/toad rebellion and Marcy’s new role as the Core’s host that practically beg for expansion that I wish there was a bit more time spent with it. (As a huge spider-man nerd I loved all the homages in the spider-sprig episode but I still think this could have been replaced)

Another option could have been to have Anne and the Plantars return to Amphibia in the 3A finale so that 3B could focus entirely on Anne and Sasha discovering the mother of Olms, hearing about the prophecy, saving Marcy, and stopping Andrias and the core. This would have given the show 2 more episodes (11-minute runtime) to cover all this plot in the latter half of the final season. 

As it is everything has to move at a breakneck speed. This is especially prevalent with the girls’ friendship. They have to mend their friendship in the wake of massive betrayals in the span of half a season which can get tricky. (I like what they are doing with Anne and Sasha so far so this may be unfounded but my main concern is Marcy because it’s looking more and more like she won’t be saved from the core’s control until the finale.)

Another issue I have with the series as a whole is the fact that it doesn’t want to deviate from Anne as often as I think it could and probably should. This show is the story of Anne, Sasha, and Marcy and while Anne is the main character her friends have massive arcs to undergo that I think could have benefitted from more solo episodes for them. 

Sasha is arguably the character who is forced to change the most. All the episodes she’s in are great and they don’t waste a moment they are given but it’s a bit disappointing how much of her development is forced to take place off screen. She is a very complex character with so much going on that some huge points in her arc such as her decision in Reunion could have benefitted from more screen time or expansion on her home life/past. (I’ll come back to Sasha later because there is a lot to be said about her.)

Marcy is also worthy of more screen time. But doesn’t suffer as much as Sasha does because she was part of the main cast from episode 6 of season 2 until the finale (mostly. She did miss a few episodes). While it would have been interesting to see Marcy in Newtopia before Anne and the Plantars get there, we get enough insight into her place there and the character dynamics that it wouldn’t be as necessary. I would have appreciated it though. The main concern is 3B because there are a lot of things left hanging with Marcy’s arc that she can’t actively work towards now that she is under the control of the core. Only time will tell when it comes to this and I will hold out hope that her arc gets wrapped up in a satisfying way. 

As it stands the core reason that Marcy’s arc and characterization suffers is how little she is mentioned by characters when she isn’t around and the fact that outside of Olivia & Yunan she doesn’t have a perspective episode. 

Marcy is a character that looms over the story in season 1. Just like Sasha even when she isn’t there you can feel the effect her friendship has had on Anne. This isn’t the case with season 3A. The effect she has had on Anne from her betrayal and near death aren’t felt nearly as much which you would think would be the opposite. 

This can be compared to Sasha after the season 1 finale. Sasha was mentioned on multiple occasions by Anne, Marcy, and Sprig and her presence could be felt even when she wasn’t on screen which hasn’t been the case with Marcy. I also wish she would have had more one on one interaction with Sasha because we really don’t know what their dynamic is. I think it could be really interesting.

So with that out of the way let’s get into the things I love and my more expanded thoughts on the seasons, characters, and twists.

First season

Amphibia’s first season was what I think would qualify as a slow burn with most of the episodes being slice of life getting the audience acquainted with Anne, the Plantars, and Wartwood. But even with the majority of the season focusing on more problem of the week type stories it manages to sprinkle in enough hints to the overarching mystery that the show never felt aimless. 

Anne also goes through amazing development in this season and watching her grow into the responsible and caring character she is in season 2 and 3 is amazing. She is allowed to be flawed, selfish, and entitled at the start of the series and the first season’s decision to focus on her growth is part of why I like the more episodic formula they used for it. 

It has some great episodes with my favorites obviously being Toad Tax, Prison Break, and Reunion (no shockers there). The obvious connection these episodes have is that all of them were built up to and have lasting consequences as the show moves forward. 

In Toad Tax Anne finally gains the town’s respect when she decides she would rather do the right thing regardless of how the town has treated her than revel in the power granted to her by the toads. This moment felt earned because every episode leading up to it had dealt with how Anne has been treated by the town and how she struggles with her self perception in regard to this. It feels like a huge payoff for all the growth and self reflection Anne had been forced to go through in the series so far. It also ripples throughout the season because due to the events of this episode word of Anne gets back to toad tower.

In Prison Break we finally get to see what Sasha is really like and how things have been different for her. Anne’s friends Sasha and Marcy had only been teased up until this moment with the ominous lightning flash over the photo stuck in a branch in the rain during the opening being the biggest hint that things with Anne’s friends back home were not as sunshine and rainbows as it could initially seem. 

There are also hints that Anne’s twisted views of friendship, which are gradually unlearned because of her friendship with Sprig, came from her friends back home and this episode makes it clear that Sasha was a big part of that warped perception. 

It also sets up an interesting inversion between Sasha and Anne. Where Anne is forced to confront her flaws and mistakes during her time spent with the Plantars, Sasha’s worst traits are encouraged by the toads. Anne becomes better while Sasha becomes worse. This plays into the show’s main theme of change. Anne is willing to adapt to the change and grow while Sasha (and later Marcy) pushes back against change which leads to disaster.

I love this episode because it introduces the character I find the most interesting of the cast of characters, Sasha. There’s just so much to go into with her character such as her need for control clashing with her genuine care for her friends that makes her fascinating. But that’s a topic for later when I get to her character as a whole.

Reunion is easily the best episode of this season though and you’d be hard pressed to find someone who disagreed. There’s the long awaited reunion between Sasha and Anne which ends just as poorly as you’d expect based on everything leading up to it. The moment I want to talk about though is when Sasha looks at Anne and says “Maybe you’re better off without me” and lets go, falling to what would have been her death if Grime hadn’t saved her. 

This is one of the darkest moments of the show and is heavily analyzed, for good reason. It’s so well done too. Sasha sees Anne and the Plantars, people she had just tried to kill, working to save her while her weight literally pulls them down. She has a moment of reflection where she is forced to realize what a bad friend she’s been to Anne and chooses to fall to her death instead of continue to drag Anne and the Plantars down. 

This is such a dark moment that I wasn’t expecting on my first watchthrough. This is where I realized that Amphibia was something special.

Now I think is the best time to talk about Anne. I absolutely love Anne. She is such a great protagonist. I mentioned above about how much she’s grown from her first introduction and that is part of why I love her so much. She’s allowed to be flawed and learn from her mistakes. 

One of my favorite things is how well the pilot sets up Anne’s character and arc. In the pilot episode Sprig gets stuck in Anne’s trap when a Mantis attacks and Anne initially runs away to save herself before she runs back and saves Sprig. This shows that while Anne can be selfish she will always try to make the right choice. 

Anne is such a great protagonist and I love how the show works in her Thai culture and heritage. It makes sure you understand how important it is to her and who she is. From her parent’s restaurant Thai Go to Anne teaching Polly (or trying to teach Polly) Muay Thai and all the smaller things in between. 

The show makes sure that you know this is a part of Anne’s life that is irreplaceable. I hope more cartoons will be willing to do this because I really appreciate it within Amphibia. You could just see how much this meant to Matt Braly.

The Plantars are almost all fantastic as well. The standout of the three, to my initial surprise, was Hop Pop. I’m a sucker for the older mentor with secrets and a soft spot for their kids archetype that Disney has made a mainstay of their cartoons since Gravity Falls. 

Hop Pop is funny, heartfelt, and has very real fears of loneliness and loss that can only be explored in the way they are through his older, more jaded perspective. The generational divide that is experienced by him and everyone else in the family is a source of conflict but it is done in a way that doesn’t totally discount one way over the other and works perfectly with the show’s themes.

All that praise being said the first season does run into the problem of losing its sense of urgency when it comes to Anne finding her way home on a few occasions but this is easily rectified in season 2. 

Season 2

I’d say season 2 took every question and the few issues I had with season 1, which there weren’t a ton mind you, and managed to address each one. Lacking a sense of urgency around Anne, Sasha, and Marcy getting home? Lets heavily expand on the lore of the calamity box and directly address Anne’s homesickness in a way that will emotionally devastate everyone watching. Not enough focus on the girls outside of Anne and no word on Marcy? Marcy joins the main cast for a good chunk of season 2 and Sasha gets more than one solo episode so we better understand what’s going on with her. What happened to Sprig and Polly’s parents? Let's emotionally gut punch you with Hop Pop revealing how he feels responsible and have Sprig address missing his mom despite not knowing her.

Season 2 also isn’t afraid to deal with the lasting consequences of character’s actions and trauma. Anne has a hard time discussing Sasha at the beginning of the season and tries to make up for all the danger she feels she has put the Plantars in since she got to Wartwood. This is where we first see her avoidant approach to her trauma which causes things to boil over on more than one occasion throughout the season. 

This season so far is the one that best deals with the lasting effects of what has happened to the characters throughout the show the most and shows Anne’s developing trust issues in an organic way. 

Anne isn’t the only one where we get this from either. Sasha is another good example. This seems like as good of a segue as any to talk about Sasha’s character as a whole. Even with the limited screen time Sasha has huge development throughout the series. 

Sasha is fascinating in part because of her complex relationship to control and power and how it directly conflicts with her care for others. It’s made very clear at multiple points in the series that Sasha does genuinely care for other people. 

She cares for Grime and won’t abandon him in Toadcatcher even when facing down Yunan, she cares for Anne and her decision to let go to prevent dragging Anne and the Plantars down with her in Reunion shows that, she cares about Percy and Braddock and shows conflict over losing them in Barrel’s Warhammer, she cares for Anne and Marcy in True Colors when she tries to hold off Andrias so that they could make it home.  

The episodes focusing on Sasha are usually really good because of this complexity. She is always torn between doing to right thing/her genuine care for others and what will give her more control. Sasha was the character that was obviously being set up for a redemption arc (every animated show needs at least one) but she had to get worse before she could start to get better. And this is what her arc in season 2 is.

When we first see Sasha again in Toadcatcher she is grappling with the fallout of Reunion and Grime points out that she is training to avoid the reality that her friendship with Anne has irrevocably changed, things can never go back to the way they were. She’s not upset that she lost the fight but that she lost a friend.

Sasha is struggling with this and can’t accept the change or Anne’s independence from her. She wants to regain control over her friendships and force things back to the way they were. She hasn’t learned that those lines of thinking are faulty, instead she doubles down on them.

She next appears in Barrel’s Warhammer where she and Grime go to get the rest of the toads onboard with their coup on Newtopia but to be the leaders of this coup they need to go on a suicide quest for Barrel’s Warhammer (it is literally stated in the show to be a suicide mission). Sasha is more determined than ever to get the warhammer and gain power once she hears that Anne and Marcy are working together to get home without her. 

She puts her life and the lives of her comrades at risk to prove that she doesn’t need Anne and Marcy and continue her quest for power. In her own words “I am not gonna fail. Not while Anne and Marcy are getting by without me.” She is upset because she believes that Anne and Marcy are doing fine without her, that they don’t need her like she wanted to believe. 

I think that this outlook on need is important. She wants them to need her. If they need her they can’t leave her. And if they don’t need her then she can’t need them. Sasha can’t show this need. It’s vulnerable. It’s weakness in her mind. She has to be fine on her own.

She pushes her team too far in her mission to reassert control and loses Percy and Braddock because of this. She seems genuinely effected by it. She’s starting to realize her actions have consequences. That she can’t force her wants and desires onto other people and expect them not to push back or leave when it hurts them. Grime’s speech about some people not being willing to pay the necessary price for success rationalizes her actions and prevents her from fully coming to this realization.

The true cracks in her resolve to follow through with her plans don’t start showing until the Third Temple. She has a moment of doubt about betraying Anne and Marcy after all the faith they showed in her. She starts to question if power is what she really wants if it comes at the cost of her friendship with the two like it did with Percy and Braddock. 

There’s the implication that Sasha isn’t faking as much as she would like to believe she is during this reunion and it continues on for the next handful of episodes leading up to True Colors. 

Sasha can be a tricky character to pin down because it can be hard to tell when she is being genuine or not and even trickier to tell when she is lying to herself or truly believes what she is saying. Sasha is just as good, maybe even better, at lying to herself as she is at lying to others. 

Interestingly enough Battle of the Bands is the episode that sums up her arc as a whole in season 2. She wants Marcy and Anne to succeed and with her in control she thinks she could ensure that would happen. She thinks she knows what’s best for them and tries to force it onto them but Anne has learned to stand her ground and push back when needed.

When Anne won’t let her be in control she decides to take her own path where she has all the power over what happens. She gets into a situation where she has all the control only to learn how empty that is without those she cares about and that having someone who will do everything you say without question isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

She later comes to learn through Toadie that sometimes supporting her friends in their own endeavors can be just as meaningful even if they don’t come out on top. We see her give up that control she so desperately clings to and support her friends and comes to realize that it is more fulfilling than going it alone to try and win on her terms.

This is the lesson that Sasha needs to learn. In a way this was showing her what she could have if she could let go of having total control, compromise, and accept change. It makes what happens in True Colors and the consequences of her actions hit her all the harder.

In her mission to force things back to the way they were and resist change she loses everything she could have gained when True Colors comes around. She gets what she thinks she wants at the cost of everything that actually matters and she is hit with the realization of how empty it is. 

She is finally forced to confront her own terrible choices and their consequences when Anne finally severs their friendship. To make matters worse she comes to the realization that her coup was unintentionally a good thing when it’s revealed what Andrias plans to do with the music box. 

When she tries to warn Anne she is understandably ignored. Everything bad that happens in True Colors is in part her own fault. She is forced to confront the lies she keeps telling herself and finally realize the lasting consequences of her actions and the folly of her insistence on resisting change.

I really liked how the culmination of her arc this season is her promising to have Anne’s back in the fight against Andrias and hold him off so Anne and Marcy can get back home. She finally gives up control to someone else by deciding to have their back and tries to take responsibility for her actions and set things right. (it only took until it was almost too late)

This arc is complex and layered. I stand by my opinion that Sasha should have had more episodes dedicated to her but the writers don’t waste a second of her screen time and manage to get all the conflict of her character across in the limited episodes they have been given. There’s still a lot of development that happens off screen (mostly in season 1 and 3a) but once again season 2 finds a pretty good medium that hits all the points it needs to in her journey.

I love how this leads into season 3 with her Turning Point and becoming the leader of the rebellion against Andrias. She is finally using her strengths in a positive way for the benefit of others. One of my favorite things about Amphibia (and good writing in general) is that every character’s biggest weakness/flaw is born of their greatest strength. 

Everything that makes her a great leader, when taken to the extreme, makes her toxic to those around her and the antagonist. Sasha doesn’t give up which is what inspires Anne and Marcy and what made them friends in the first place but it also causes her to continue on with a path even when it puts herself and others in danger. 

Her control freak tendencies when in moderation make her a “tactical wizard” because she is able to take into consideration all the strength and weaknesses with her allies and enemies as well as all the minute details and break them down to formulate a great strategy for victory. But it also caused her to force things onto those around her to fit what she thought was best rather than what was actually best for everyone. 

Her charisma makes it so that she can get people to follow her and lift them up but it also makes way for her effective manipulation. 

Side note: I love Sasha’s new character design.

This is also the case with Marcy. Marcy’s greatest strengths feed into her greatest flaws. Anne says it herself, that Marcy would always get so enraptured in her own little world that she would neglect to see the bigger picture around her. 

That hyperfocus and lust for knowledge make her excel in Newtopia but they also blind her to the consequences to her actions on others, in this case Sasha and Anne. Unlike Sasha though, a lot of Marcy’s betrayal and self destruction comes from a place of naïveté rather than conscious choice which makes them interesting foils (and is another reason why I wish they interacted one on one more).

Marcy has great chemistry with just about every character she interacts with. She is one of the most fun characters to watch while on screen and it is easy to see why she became so popular. My favorite pairing with her is surprisingly Hop Pop. I never would have guessed that I needed them to be friends so much. I love how she is just as excited by things that most people would consider mundane as Hop Pop is like seeds, farming, and taxes (or in her case probably just the math of it).

Her twist in the True Colors finale was built into her character from the beginning. In her introduction she refers to everything happening as tropes and describes how she played what is essentially a dnd character to work her way to the top of Newtopia. It explains her entire view of life and how she managed to take escapism to the extreme by trapping herself, Anne, and Sasha in Amphibia and lied about trying to get back home to get Andrias the music box and continue their adventures. 

Her struggles making friends, which is touched upon in the episode Scavenger Hunt and is implied with her lack of close connections in Newtopia, unlike Anne with the Plantars and Sasha with Grime, comes around in a big way because it is the driving factor in her running away at the news of her moving for her father’s job and taking a chance on the music box in the first place.

Every piece is there for the audience to put together and understand this twist.

It’s interesting because looking back at the season 2 opening the twist was right there in the moment replacing the photo in the rain. Sasha and Anne are fighting while Marcy looms over them facing away and holding the music box. The ominous lightning strikes once again which very clearly hints at Marcy’s truth that Sasha and Anne are unaware of and that all three of them have conflicting end goals for their journey in Amphibia. 

So much of this show's future plot points are hidden right in front of you, be it the opening or episodes that are seemingly filler (like Wally and Anne and how the moss men came back in Newtopia).

To put my thoughts on Marcy into perspective I caught up with Amphibia the spring before season 2 started airing and I remember the immense amount of discourse and theories surrounding Marcy. 

Matt Braly stated that Sprig was the first non-toxic friend that Anne had ever had in a Q and A on Reddit and it led to so many people trying to guess what it was about Marcy that made this the case. 

It’s actually really funny looking back on it because so many people were completely shocked by Marcy’s introduction and she so easily lulled them (and me) into a sense of security that, although we were warned by Matt Braly, caused massive shockwaves in the fan community after the reveal that Marcy wanted to get the three stuck in Amphibia and never wanted to leave. 

I think that being in the fandom around this time and seeing the speculation and adoration for Marcy in real time really heightened my experience with her character and arc throughout season 2.

Another thing I adore with Marcy is her heavy neurodivergent coding. As someone who is neurodivergent myself I see a lot of myself in Marcy’s mannerisms and characteristics. She has the same hyper focus that I can find myself experiencing, deep knowledge of tropes, media, and games, certain mannerisms in her movements and habits that I have, and trouble with eye contact and making connections. It’s always nice to see this in a character and I appreciate that Matt Braly is so supportive of this reading although it wasn’t the initial intention of the writers. 

I relate to all of the girls in different ways but Marcy is the girl I am probably most like (as I mentioned above). And I really love that there is something to connect to with each of the girls and that each of them is a complex individual. It's one of my favorite things about Amphibia.

Now to talk about True Colors. Wow. Where to start. This is easily the most ambitious episode the Amphibia crew have put out to date. One thing I love about the two season finales that Amphibia currently has is that they aren’t afraid to irrevocably change the characters, relationships, and status quo. This episode came and promised that nothing will ever be the same again, shaking the very foundations of the show. 

Marcy had been stabbed, Anne’s powers manifested, Sasha was trapped in Amphibia, Anne and the Plantars were sent back to LA in Marcy’s final act, Andrias’ plan and his sheer amount of power and resources were revealed, and the endgame was finally upon us. It was insane. Watching this episode and knowing that we would have to wait months for season 3 made me feel like I was going to explode from anticipation. This was the perfect finale to this season.

True colors does a fantastic job of giving you a grasp of the scope of this show and the ramifications of what happened. Every character has a moment to shine and no one seems inconsequential. That being said it obviously heavily focused on the relationship between the 3 girls and for very good reason. Season 1 returned to the day that Anne, Sasha, and Marcy were sent to Amphibia and gave us a new perspective on everything through Sasha and so True Colors did the same thing with Marcy. 

Everything about Marcy and what Matt Braly said snaps into place in the most heartbreaking way. 

She didn't know where the box would send them or if it would even work but she didn't give any of her friends a heads up or anything. She went behind their backs to do this and intentionally didn't reveal this to them at any point during their travels. Andrias was the one who let it slip. She was even planning on bringing them on more adventures rather than returning them home. What Marcy did was wrong. I don't want to downplay that but I also think the why behind her actions is just as important to reading her character. 

This episode really puts the mirror up to Sasha and Marcy and shows the flaws in their desire to reject change. Everything comes crashing down for the both of them and they are forced to realize the selfishness in their actions.

Marcy is forced to realize that her decision was self-centered rather than selfless as she tried to make it out initially. Her line "But look at how much fun we've had. Look at how much you've both grown. Look at Sprig. I gave you this, I gave you everything! I just didn't want to be alone." Marcy is still lying to herself that she did this for all of them until she can't anymore and she breaks down and admits that she did it so that she wouldn't have to be alone. She did it for herself.

Just like Sasha she also starts to work to be better in this episode. She saves Sprig, goes against Andrias, sends Anne home, and tries to do something else with the music box before she is stabbed.

Yep now to talk about that moment.

To make matters worse, in one of the darkest moments in the show, she gets stabbed and spends her last moments of consciousness apologizing for her mistakes. She almost dies thinking that she has irreparably destroyed her friendships and the person she trusted most in Newtopia literally stabs her in the back, causing her (almost) death. 

Amphibia likes it’s parallels and Andrias is likely meant to be a father/mentor figure to her (it’s paralleled with Sasha and Grime and Anne and Hop Pop). This makes the betrayal all the more painful. Her naivete and belief in this grand new world that helped her escape from her problems is what ultimately lead to this moment. She wasn’t malicious or evil just scared and lonely. 

I’m interested in the parallels this episode draws between Andrias and Sasha though because it is heavily implied that his friends left him because of his pursuit of power and control but instead of realizing his mistakes he doubles down on them and continues on his path for power and domination which is what Sasha herself has been doing this season. 

It could be gearing up to have Andrias and his past friends be a dark parallel of what Sasha, Marcy, and Anne could become if they don’t reflect and work to better themselves (now I’m even more interested in seeing the episode “The King and the Core”). 

You can’t really talk about True Colors without talking about how Disney pulled it from its originally scheduled release date less than 24 hours before it was supposed to air, forgot to tell iTunes so the whole episode ended up getting leaked, and ended up airing it 3 weeks later. 

Matt and the whole Amphibia team were done a disservice and it’s really unfortunate that this happened. The whole crew took to twitter urging people to wait and watch it when it aired and to keep from leaking what happens in it. It’s clear that this came completely out of nowhere for them. 

It’s disappointing to see how poorly Disney has treated two of its best shows (cutting the Owl House short without telling Dana Terrace and what it did to True Colors). They’ve done such a great job on these phenomenal shows and deserve better treatment from Disney.

Season 3

Now onto season 3A. I’ve already mentioned my few issues with 3A so far which can mostly be rectified with the latter half of season so I don’t want to dwell on them and would much rather talk about what I loved. Starting with Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy. They are the best. Anne’s parents are so wholesome and I love being reminded of just how far Anne has come as a character by seeing the change through their eyes. 

They mention in her first appearance back home that she was the poster child for hating responsibility, punctuated through Anne’s drawing that literally says “I hate responsibility”. They have to acclimate to Anne’s newfound maturity and the reality that she can’t stay with them no matter how much they would love her to and supporting her decision in every way they can. They are just so supportive and loving that it’s a breath of fresh air. Way too often main characters are given terrible home lives or basically non-existent parents so having the Boonchuys be the opposite of that was satisfying.

I also really love all the developments on the Amphibia side of things. Sasha becoming the leader of the rebellion and Marcy being possessed by the core really heighten the stakes and play into their development over the seasons. It also draws yet another inversion between the two as well as their respective relationships with Grime and Andrias. 

Sasha came to Amphibia and lied and manipulated her way to the top of the toads heirarchy but developed a genuine bond with Grime that eventually leads to the two of them bettering themselves whereas Marcy is lied and manipulated by Andrias which brings her to the top of his regime. 

They both had to face the aftermath of their own betrayals which led to them rising to the ranks they find themselves in going into the endgame. I like the parallels that can be drawn between the two especially since they couldn’t be more different personality wise. They are two polar opposite sides when it comes to how much control they have in their respective stories. 

Season 3B hasn’t aired a ton of episodes as of yet with only the episodes up to “Mother of Olms/Grime’s Pupil” having aired at the time of me writing this but I am really enjoying them so far. I hope it kicks the plot into high gear soon considering this is the last batch of episodes we will ever get and it looks like that will be the case seeing as  “The Root of Evil/The Core and the King” are the next slated episodes which I’m really excited for. 

The character moments are good and I’m enjoying Anne and Sasha getting the chance to reconcile and be shown as actual friends now that Sasha has changed for the better. I also really liked the unconventional pairing of Sprig and Grime in the most recent episode. I’m having a lot of fun.

Extra thoughts

I have so many thoughts on Amphibia and a lot are scattered right now so I’m just going to list them off in bullet point format.

I love Sasha and Grime’s relationship. They’ve changed each other so much and I love all of their solo episodes.

The music in this show is amazing. The amphibia soundtrack is very underrated. My favorite musical moments are when Anne’s powers activate in True Colors and Marcy’s truth from the same episode and the Calamity trio's themes.

The animation in True Colors when Anne’s powers activate and she fights off Andrias is amazing. It’s so fluid and the change in fluidity and style really sells just how powerful this new form is.

"Wait, so Marcy and I get cool anime powers too?" - I just love this line and how self aware it is.

The color palate used in this show is really visually appealing. The colors are softer and tend to avoid jarring contrast which I really love.

I really like how the girls earth passions and extracurriculars play into how they excel at combat. Sasha and Anne’s athleticism that comes from tennis and cheerleading and Marcy’s smarts and D&D knowledge. It’s fun.

How RE Village (8) SOLVED almost every problem that I had with RE Series

Okay - a few weeks ago I made a post that was “The ones that suffer the most” where I showed and explained my main problems with Chris and Jill and the RE series in general 

RE 1 is my fav game of this series and probably one of my all time favs, I player every RE there is to be played except 4 (because I dislike Leon, sry) 

Recently, specially after 4, the franchise had a few problems, specially in writing/map design/lore 

Resident evil 5 for example (I love this game) but it has it flaws, Chris there is only driven by anger and action - Sheva is used as a tool for lore exposition and to be Chris’s new partner 

PLEASE: be aware that game at that generation didn’t have much lore - with some exceptions, like God of War 1 2 3 were a simply game with a simple lore, and the most recent GoW has evolved a little bit in the storytelling

Until we hit rock bottom in RE6 - I know a lot of people like this game, but this is only and action game, bad writing and generic stages. 

Chris there is so mistreated that makes me mad (if you want to read more about this go to my other post “the ones that suffer the most”)

Until RE7 appeared, Capcom had a new engine and they wanted to do a game that was more horror like - since RE is know for being a Survival horror game.

I liked 7 - some people complained about Ethan being without emotion and others complained about the mold, a few didn’t like the FEAR vibes from Eveline. 

I personally enjoyed the game, I thought RE series was going back on track, that game has it’s problems but it was really nice compared to what we had in 6.

After that game I had a conversation with my best friend and I said that I wanted a game that portrayed Umbrella’s fall since the only game that shows this is Umbrellas Chronicles (and that is most a resume of what happened)

And I said: “Bro, I wish that when they made that game, they could tie some mythological lore and human evolution before Umbrella - using Spencer, this would solve LOT OF STUFF and open new ways to handle this series”

and guess what - this happened in RE8 and kudos to the one writer that did that, i have my gratitude. 

RESIDENT EVIL 8 is probably one of the BEST RE games that we had IN YEARS

And I want to address all thing that I loved in this game and do some predictions to what will happen in the next games.

“WELL WELL IF IT ISN’T ETHAN WINTERS” (The Father of the year)

My father was not a great guy... really, so I want to be the best dad ever, I really want be like Ethan - a guy who is ready to sacrifice and fight every monster in the way to save my family. 

Ethan was a character that in RE7 was used to make us fell like that it was us in the Baker’s house, so that is why he didn’t had that much personality (in my opinion) but they changed that in RE8, here he has nice dialogues AND a diary 

He has one of the best story line in the whole REverse, a guy that did EVERYTHING in his power to save his daughter - and you saw that playing the game, every sentence line that he delivered, he tried to save others too and even tho Chris said to him stay put ... but he couldn’t, he had to go to the altar, he had to help Chris, he had to go forward and keep going, specially after having the tools to face Heisenberg. 

The plea from a father, that was his last wish, after he heard that Mia was alive he knew that someone had to stop that monster, he made a promise to his daughter “Daddy won’t let those weird fairy tale monsters get you” so he trusted Chris, to be the one that teaches his kid how to be brave and strong

I will not address Chris and Rose situation here because this is Ethans part and he deserves completely all the spotlight, his sacrifice was 100x times better than Steve (CV)/Piers(6)

My cheers to Ethan Winters - You have my respect !

Revelations -> RE8 

So leaks from earlier times said that RE8 sucked and Revelations 3 was amazing

Revelations FYI is know for using old tales in RE stories 

Revelations 1 - Dante’s Inferno 

Revelations 2 - Frans Kafka 

Revelations 3 - Dracula 

But since RE8 sucked, Capcom said to the REV3 team that they could make REV3 become RE8 and they accepted 

Revelations series is one of the best in the games, they handle Jill in a way that I love, Claire and even Barry - so they deserve all the spotlight for making this awesome game - you CLEARLY can see that they love this series and that they treat all the characters with the love that they deserve. 

Keeping that in mind, they are the same team that made Rev 2 and in REV 2 we have this file here 

So they had a plan for Jill and we can see that in RE8 - I will address that later but keep that in mind - this team cares for the old characters, they were the ones that brought Barry back to the games :V 

Chris Redfield 

This is a hard one, because he is my fav character and I usually have the most critics regard him, since I’ve expect a lot from Capcom 

In the latest games they made him kind dumb, only muscles type of guy and an alcoholic that let all the people in his surroundings die (RE5,RE6,Vendetta) 

RE6 treats him the WORST

But in RE8 he had an amazing part in the storyline, it was obvious that he wasn’t evil and they FIXED HIS EYE COLOR - FINALLY 

I still don’t like the model face that much but it’s way better than 7 - so I believe Capcom, I still feel that he need more jawline 

But let’s go to the most important thing - here he really feels like a squad leader and a veteran, he has his team but he is the one in the front line, he covers and ask for help when he needs, everything about his line delivery makes you feel like “Woah, this guy is a badass, he is not some stupid guy only driven by emotions”

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR FINALLY GETTING THIS RIGHT 

If you remember my post about the ones that suffer the most / Jill is also in that list and I will talk about her a little bit later but if my guess is right RE8 saved her character aswell

Another thing that I enjoyed here is the fact that he is kind of a mercenary / Neo Umbrella kind of guy, even tho he is one of the founders of the BSAA

So I will give you all my score to this game: 

9/10

I won’t give 10/10 because of some technical issues, the cursor lock didn’t work and mouse sensitivity was i dunno, not the best. 

RE8 and the future (PREDICTIONS)  - Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, BSAA, Neo Umbrella, Ada Wong and Rosemary

First let’s look Rose

The first time I saw Rose all grown up - I thought to myself : She has the same problem as Eveline (age a lot faster than normal) 

But she also absorbed Miranda’s power since the metalicite (something like this) thought that she was a better host. - so maybe she will live longer or something because I doubt that they will do a 14 years time skip. 

This is not the same as Terra Save logo (Claire’s job) but it kind reminds me of it - her shoes appeared at least 3 times in this cut scene so maybe they are trying to show some hints with this 

She really reminds me of Jodie (Beyond two souls, a game where a girl has a lot of power and the gov uses her in missions and stuff, but she also is learning how to be her own person) 

Another thing here is that they don’t have a logo in this car, it really reminds me the car that Chris as using in RE8 

This supports the theory that Chris’s organization is dealing with her instead of the BSAA, the she is a hot headed girl and that she had a lot of powers. 

So here you can say that she is just a kid because she is a teenager, but what if she actually grows older really fast (like Eveline) maybe this is just 1 year later / 2 yrs later. (after RE8)

So this is the tricky part, this is Chris’s guard/soldier, someone that Chris trust to stand by her side, in my mind I do believe that Chris is kind of a father figure to her, so when this guys says this he is thinking about hot head Chris but she replies “Yeah” thinking about Ethan - (she has the mold memories, so she can actually remember Ethan’s memories) 

Now let’s look at this 

BSAA 

So in REV1 is hinted that BSAA is not the best organization in the world, but since our heroes work there we think that they are the good guys right ? 

In REV 2 (it’s important to remember that the team that created RE8 is the same from the REVELATIONS and they had this file here in REV2)

This email is from Jill and what does Jill have ? T-Virus 

Wesker is a different case since he was a project and she had the vaccine but this would make a lot of sense if they had this tests with Jill to get the T-Virus

If that is the case, they explained Jill’s absence in the main games, could even explain why Chris left BSAA and opened a new window to a lot of possibilities 

My Predictions: 

- Chris had trouble dealing with BSAA and Jill’s case, he wanted to get her out of there, maybe he removed her from there but that resulted in him being expelled from the force

-Jill may or may not know what they are doing with her blood, but she will have a huge part in the BOW used by BSAA 

-Chris is married to Jill (sorry- I had to place this here, in a perfect world he has two kids with her and they all love aunt Rose) 

-Chris will hopefully be a father figure to Rose and they will be in a game together since in the end they came to get her

-Rebecca is still involved in BSAA activities (leak from new REV3) if you consider Vendetta canon, she maybe the one that used Jill’s sample of blood to create the virus soldiers

-Barry maybe retired 

-I don’t think Leon will be in this game, but he will get his RE4 Rmk 

- I do believe RE9 will be release after Code veronica rmk and MAYBE they will do a game about Umbrella’s Fall (Chris and Jill in Europe against Red Queen and BOWs) 

But that is it, you can see a lot of elements from old RE games in RE8, they tried to do something really smart and the game felt amazing to play, that was something else and it’s been a while since a player a RE game that made me feel that way <3
