yes this is the dante theory list for those who liked this post but im also making it my pinned

Md's hot hot list of Dante limbus theories that I've been sitting on since I started playing
ONE OF THESE WILL BE RIGHT. MAYBE. cut for length. discuss in the comments. contains ruina and lobocorp spoilers. maybe even leviathan spoilers. assume spoilers for the newest content. pinning so i can keep adding to it in the future. (edited 4/7) (up to canto 6.3)
Theory 1, from early march 2023- Dante has the option to get their head back, takes it. Human Dante is shown. except clearly hiding unfamiliarity with the sinners. The clock head is still alive. A clock doesnt need a body to live. Human evil dante uses the golden whatever to cause Problems and has the sinners chained to them. vergil is free tho so he can beat down evil dante. (this now works with a canto 5 tidbit where vergil said he'd only step in if "all sinners dead, dante is beaten, and the hands of the clock are about to be torn off".)
T2, 3/12- 9 circles of hell, Dante, and a few subsections. Dante is sinner 10. Charon is also in the divine comedy so she'll get a section. Dante are u lucifer. who is the lucifer of the setting?? i'm saying pre-dante Dante until otherwise noted. (not personally fond of this one)
T3, 3/15- iori saw limbus going a certain way and guaranteed it by making sure Dante got factory reset by force. villain to cause heroism. (dont know enough about Iori for this one)
**T4- Backwards clock relation possible. (possibly canon validated) (even more possible connection as of 6.3)
T5- Saying Dante had a significant other named Beatrice is way too low bar but It's a necessary one. ech
T6- Dante IS Beatrice and given the name of someone else. (too ez)
T7, 3/17- future Dante guaranteeing the future changes by getting past Dante's head removed. issue solved. This one is based on the opening and reading the lyrics real goodly.
T8, 3/20- Dante's head has a lil bit of angelas ai in there. or ayin data. benjamin. any of them. carmen even. fuck whatever. maybe hokma bc ticking in ruina theme. (this one lead to some Better Ideas. see later) (4/7) POSSIBLY SUPPORTED BY 6.2. WHY DID THEY SEE THAT.
T9, 3/23- The three censored letters. B E A, S I N, E G O, A L I, who knows. v e r. could be anything this one is nothing
T10, 3/26- Faust VERY SPECIFICALLY says that brains cant be replaced-- so even if Dante gets their head back, it's incompatible now. (!! this is a Top Theory)
T11, 3/28- Beatrice or someone else died around Christmas, which makes Dante sad even without their memories. The pain exists but the context is missing. (They also seem to know Christmas music without any issue, able to sing along with Charon in their head. This is not addressed in canon.)
T12, 3/30- Beatrice was one of the orphans that died in Leviathan :) the time period matches up. It was around Christmas.
T13, 3/31- HARD LOBOCORP SPOILER. Thinking about In Hell We Live (Lament). "Each loop we live/die thru"? How many times? How many times has Dante done this? Or Pre-Dante, anyway. Faust is probably in on it. The new L corp took one look at what Ayin was doing and went "we can do that too lmao". Losing their memory was a base requirement to prevent madness. I rewrote this theory on 9/19 but added "to prevent a paradox"
T14, 4/18- Less a HC and more a suggestion, just use F Corp's shit to Unlock Dante's memory. If we ever visit District F, you KNOW Faust is gonna keep them on one hell of a tight leash.
T15- Is the Star a Singularity? Did Dante STEAL it? Are THEY the singularity? The clock? This one's too easy too though.
T16, 5/8- WAT IF THE STAR IS LUCIFER. MORNING STAR. CAN MANIPULATE SOULS IN HELL. (weak but proj moon loves their Christian imagery. this will come back repeatedly) not this one
T17, 5/10- Dante is either connected to whitenight OR a jesus figure (12 apostles, sin, not dying when killed, revives people, etc. the christianity again. it will continue. i already drew plague doc dante.) (4/7, possible but carmen is the lucifer adjacent if 6-34 is anything to go by. jesus is still open.)
**T18. 5/16- Dante's clock hands are made from a Golden Bough. ez. LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOO canto 5.2

T19. 6/16- This has 0 canon basis but what if Dante was a Bloodfiend, would that be cool or what? They already don't need to eat, but is that from the clock or something else? Do they get IVs with nutrients? How does this work? Idk. I just want Dante to cut their hand open, make giant claws and rip a man apart before eating dirt. Dante can chew on a Sinner as a treat. c:
T20- Wouldn't it be fucked up if Dante found their head and it had either Distorted or was an Abnormality??
T21, 9/29- Religious Bastard Dieci Dante Aligheri.
T22- Dante has gotten Very Attached to the Sinners as their only form of contact while they've gotten themselves together. They recently realized many Sinners are doing this for the end goals, not to be a team. This seemed to upset them. UPSET THEM MORE. DISTORT THEM. DANTE REALIZES THEY'LL ALL LEAVE WITHOUT A CARE IN THE WORLD. Carmen! Come get this bitch.
T23- Actually, Dante should distort for any reason. I Absolutely Understand the Mechanics (lying). Got too depressed, hit -45 SAN and decided they're just a useless tool instead of a person? Absolutely. You're now a piece of equipment. (when Heath asks if they're okay in canto 5 bc they got injured, dante responds "the clocks fine so who cares?") (I now understand the mechanics but want it anyway) They won't.
T24- Building off the previous, they're really starting to believe they're just a tool like how Gregor thinks he's a bug. That Is Not Good For Your Mental Health (garry ib icon.png)
T25- Putting this here just before my fav one, their skin. We never see it, so a list of potential possibilities excluding Being White bc that's BORING: Any POC, ashy skin (like vergil), dark ashy (charon), pure black or close to (a lot of people do this, me included), dark and covered in stars, very tattooed, very mechanical, just outright a robot, bloodfiend again, ETC. Based on the few images we have that show anything, it's just pitch black under there unless it's a skinsuit. the rest of them may be any of the above but for now most of these are defunct.

T26- My Current Top Theory of All Time- Dante is an AI. They have never been human, just machine. At least one of their creators cared enough to do better than Ayin ever fucking did, fostering curiosity and a desire to live in the little AI. Thing is, after Angela, AI became Very Illegal. There's no way their creators survived. L Corp New got them. Old AI Dante was, at their core, still an unfeeling machine that made decisions based purely on cold logic. New Dante is a person that is learning and growing, refusing to follow the colder path at times.
Is the clock part of them? Unsure. That can work either way.
But they're definitely becoming a person who doesn't want every encounter to end in bloodshed and death. Good for them. (this part is correct)
T27- Dante is not Ruina Dante. they didn't get booked. I think they'd throw hands on sight.
T28- Verg/Dante that's all glory to yaoiville

T30- I missed one! Their eyes with a human head. This has a few that rotate. Red eyes, Gold eyes, Gold with the star, heterochromia with only one gold/star and red, pitch black (pre-d), or night sky/star. mix and match. who cares?
T31- I personally like the idea of Dante being a redhead (real red not ginger like ish) but realize it doesn't make much sense. Black hair works too, esp smoky, but they need more color. maybe fire streaks? if POC, maybe dreads?
T32- I am now also accepting heathcliff/dante post canto 5.1 he care so much.... actually just sinner polycule is valid. so is sinner family. both work. the only part I dont like is dante/faust. doesn't feel right. Charon excluded. that is our child.
T33- Forgot an old one where I figured Dante was a hacker that got into a Lot of trouble and being sinner #10 was meant to be a suicide mission.
T34- Dante being an ai part 2, having been planted in a body. maybe even a body they knew.
T35- another i forgot but dante being all scarred up or stitches or frankensteiny and-- [etc]
T36- Memory loss being fully intentional to kill their previous self and only carry over the necessary. A new start.
T37- Yknow how we never SAW Dante being an upper torso and arm in canto 3? Why? What is being hidden that's so important? robot parts? are you a robot? are you a -
T38- Dante being an artist of any kind. musician, poet, painter, etc. even post amnesia. give em a hobby
T39- Somewhere else I discussed forms that'd be fun for a Dante Distortion but i cant find it so ill reiterate: coffin spider, all around helper clock, useless fucking thing. all of which have gold chains suffocating them and it doesnt fight back. give it morphine
T40- this one's insane but dante's og self being the Player. thats why they were "me" and not "dante" we're not them. but we also are.
T41- This ones a joke but og dantes name actually just being "Me". (but not pronounced that way) (alternatively it was a nickname)
T42- Dante being an interviewer or reporter- A big name one. No wonder they keep secrets like K corps singularity. They can release that publicly later... if they choose to.
T43- RECREATE CARMEN. DO IT PUSSY. That 5.5 Blade scene is Damning as all hell. That or the bough + the monolith had an Interaction.
T44- Dante's internal programming knows the City Lore but Dante isn't allowed to know. The fact so much of that scene was censored...
T45- Dante is Bongbong
T46- I haven't beaten Ruina so I don't know a lot about Constructs or Librarians but like. Maybe they were one of those.
T47- Dante is going to eventually explode (figuratively). Even they can only take so much abuse and bullshit. Self-esteem can only go so low.
T48- Dante being a disaster chimera of stuff. AI made of someone else's brain, in someone else's body, with other stuff installed, etc, etc, etc.
T49- The Star reminds me too much of Blue Star, talking about Sin and such. Maybe it's an abno relating to that. who knows.
T50- Dante is an ID and there's a mirror in their head keeping them active. I hope they do a Charon/Lapis and totally overwrite the og bc the og's an asshole.
T51- Dante's the first successful "new human"
T52- Dante IS fucked up but something in their head hides the fuckedupness from everyone else.

Whole-ass physical reset upon death. Yeah, that'd definitely give the game away if the bodies weren't removed fast enough.
One day, however, is a reasonable timeframe. That's more than enough time to dump them off in the Restricted Area and keep up the cover.
I wonder if we could reset the ferals to factory settings as easily as killing them and letting them regenerate?
I hope our friends are homunculi. I don't want them to be dead-dead.

That's. Interesting. So then it might not be possible for everyone in Kanai Ward to be homunculi. Huesca himself can't be a homunculus. Neither can old man Margulaw from the Resistance. I thought homunculi would naturally age and then regen when they died but no. Anyone that's elderly must be human.
Still haven't met Yakou. Maybe he was human. :(

The Food Processing Plant wasn't the secret secret lab. It was the Food Processing Plant. We didn't get to fully explore it but I still think that's where the kidnapped outsiders get processed into KANAI WARD SIGNATURE MEAT BUNS.
So this might be the secret secret lab instead. Man, Kurumi shambled fast for a feral.

Huesca does not think highly of his own homunculus project. Makes sense since, if Blank Week means what I think it does, he fucking killed everybody in Kanai Ward. Including himself, as we can see here.
Huh, no wonder Yomi couldn't let him escape the city. Just like Icardi, things would have gone downhill real fast and in a hurry for the homunculus secret if Huesca inadvertently and publicly cut himself off from the sanity-preserving meat buns.

Huesca was motivated to rush his work and cut corners to try and win the arms race against UG's experiments. So, of course, he fucked up and everybody died.
No wonder he has a terrible reputation even within Amaterasu.

It was gentrification. There was never a toxic gas leak. That was the excuse used to move everyone out of the village so that Huesca could carry out his work.

Oh look. Zilch's interrogation ended abruptly when he began looping the conversation. I think Huesca's looping all the way back to the beginning. This is when he first woke up as a homunculus, after Makoto remade everyone.
I don't think we need to ask Kurumi about Blank Week anymore. It's pretty obvious what it was at this point.

Hey I'm regards to degrees of lewdity would you mind giving a really basic explanation of how to access cheats and such, I'm probably missing something super obvious but I just can't find it and as we all know Google is becoming a nightmare to get information from. I've enabled it in the settings from the start but I just can't figure out where to go from there. Also thank you so much for posting about it I saw your post got curious downloaded it and I'm having a great time
So if you turned on cheats at the beginning of the game (make sure you actually did! there's a moment right before starting the game where you're given the option to turn off any settings that deactivate feats), then the option to actually use cheats is a button on the sidebar, right above "options" and "saves"
Your sidebar should look like this:

The cheat menu is separated into five tabs; stats (money, state, skills, schools grades, traits, clothing "health", virginity, etc), visual (body parts, hair/eye color, parasites, transformations, etc), NPCs (fame, crime level, school status, individual NPC stats, etc), teleport (self explanatory, teleport to most locations), and other (forward time, weather, pregnancy, action sets). Click confirm at the top to activate all the changes you made. Some of them, like adding or removing parasites, require you to click the "set" button next to them before htting confirm otherwise they won't work.
You can also open the cheat menu and just hit confirm to reset a scene you're in if you're looking to avoid something or get a specific outcome, though this doesn't work in "set" scenes where the outcome is already determined.
The cheat menu is NOT available during combat.

Updates I want to see in Genshin, grouped up loosely
Major: 
Skip button. Barring that, something like a 20x speed option that also auto-selects dialogue choices for you. Would be great if it also did the on-rails “gameplay” sections like walking after an NPC. 
Ability to disengage from quests and set them as inactive. The fact that this is still an issue and that the only “fix” they’re doing is for newly unlocked story quests is a bad joke. We should be able to set ALL quests as inactive if we want to, even if that means losing progress in them. 
The interactive map mat locator should be in-game. If they must keep those “local specialty” passives relevant, then make it so that the locations only appear on the main map but not the mini map. 
Gadget to switch Traveler element without going to a statue of the seven. 
Gadget for removing enemy aggro. It’s ridiculous that you can stand on a cliff where an enemy can’t reach you for 10 minutes, but they won’t de-aggro. 
Similarly, a gadget to keep enemies from aggroing unless you bump into them or attack them. 
Artifact presets. We all know this one. 
General: 
Recall all and send again option for expeditions. 
A gadget that stacks all those “crumpled letter” and “ragged notebook” items crowding up one of the inventory sections. 
A gadget that records the texts in the overworld that you can interact with but do not pick up. It should list where it was found and what it said. This is for the lore fans, lol. 
Some improvement to the achievement-related commission RNG. At minimum, earlier steps in the commission chain should be removed from the pool of possible commissions, and ideally the entire chain should get removed once you’re done. (me personally mad about getting the Bantan Sango Misdirection quest three times and yet being unable to finish the whole chain)
Cooldowns should reset when you reset an Abyss floor. This is basic. And before anyone asks, we know it’s possible because there were a couple of combat events where resetting the challenge also reset cooldowns. 
Add a shop for TCG coins, similar to the teapot one. 
Option to have companions sit in the teapot. 
Gadget updates: 
Merge treasure compasses into one gadget that you forge additional modules for in new regions. 
Seed box should always be active without needing to be equipped. It should give you the “limit reached” warning when you pick up the 20th seed but only then, not afterwards. 
Red feather fan should be useable in flight. 
Artificial warming seelies and oculus resonance stones should be activated from the menu, without needing to be equipped. 
Ideally, some way to just select “region-appropriate fishing rod” without having to manually switch each time, but this one is a long-shot.

Star Crossing: Animal Valley
Today's Earth object of fascination was: a game. 
Lotor had brought it back—though Kolivan wasn't entirely sure when or where he got it from—and they did have a free day...
So here they were, setting up a device with a small army of adaptors. Surely, that could be simplified, but Lotor insisted it was more authentic this way. Neither were fluent in any of Earth's languages, but they visited their daughter and her family often enough they could open and start a new game without any trouble. The "new game" option always being on top didn't hurt either.
A short animation played before a character creation screen appeared. The default avatar was a stout little thing, with round hands and a large head. Beside is a menu, with several tabs. There were many colors, but few selections of ears. It was a human game, after all, and their ears are rather... standard in shape.
The two ended up making a character that looked like a blend of both of them.
Then they accidentally hit "reset."
"So that symbol represents confirmation, the other denial. What does that squiggling one do?"
"Let's see." He clicked it, and a block of text appeared. Between the two of them, they knew about half the words.
He closed it.
The screen went dark, and then the character they had finished remaking appears, lying on the ground in a grassy landscape. A creature approaches from the tall grass.
"That one has ears like yours."
"It's not human though."
"I am aware."
Many paragraphs of dialogue passed between the characters. Hopefully, it wasn't anything too important.
"Oh, we get a house."
"They keep showing that little picture of a crystal."
"We have a counter in the corner."
"Perhaps it's a form of currency?"
"I wonder why that text is red?"
"How do we owe money? We just arrived."
Lotor was muttering to himself, "I'm certain this was labeled as something for leisure. Why would one create a game meant for fun yet start the player off with debt? Is it a sort of teaching device? To warn young ones to be cautious of predatory loan agencies?"
They planted a variety of things, mostly around the house. The layout was messy, but it could be fixed later.
"A couch? Is that not a leaf?"
At some point, a selection of tools had been added to their inventory.
They tried one, and with a click, a chunk of the hill beside them had been removed.
There is a pond behind the house now.
Another creature appeared, this one very orange compared to the first. They clicked through the dialogue and then the screen went black.
"What did we do?"
But when the screen lit up again, the creature was still there, emerging from a tent, with a small building being constructed behind them.
"I think we got a neighbor."
The trees—once just saplings—beside their house had blossomed, and now bore fruit. However, there was something odd amongst the branches.
"What is- that rodent is eating our lemons! Why are you getting out the net?"
"I'm going to catch it."
"It is destroying our fruits!"
"I'm not going to kill it for that!"
They decorated a portion of the town before taking a break to explore. At the base of a mountain, they found a cave. They entered, but the only things the screen would display was the glowing outline of the exit and their silhouettes in front of it. They would need some kind of lamp.
More colorful creatures joined the town. Some looked almost familiar, but that was probably a coincidence.
They found an almost laughably simple way to pay off their debt: a vegetable called "radish" can be sold to a character that randomly appears in the valley for many crystals. Their garden has two rows of them, along with their inventory.
There were boards in the center of town, with a character's face and an item. Presumably, the player was meant to retrieve those items. Each had notes, but not many either of them could read in full. Why does that character need so many "apple seeds" though? 85 seems like a lot...
The lantern had been crafted; it was time to head into the cave. They descended. Every few levels, the environment changed. First was an abandoned mine, then a natural cave system. Soon, bits of crystal appeared in the walls, that got larger and larger as they went deeper. The crystals started glowing, or at least they seemed to, until they saw the glowing fungi that began covering the passage.
They found the entrance to the next level in the same place it always was, but this time a menu pops up with a bit of text and two symbols: confirm or deny.
They click "confirm."
Yet again, the screen goes dark.
Slowly, a sickly green light swells, revealing a towering fungus, filled with holes where insects fly in and out. It shook, and from it emerged a massive insectoid with sharp mandibles and a pulsing abdomen tipped with a barbed stinger. It noticed the intruders and buzzed with anger. 
Another menu appeared, with pictures of each tool they had obtained so far. One box at the very end was locked—likely the one that would actually be useful.
They paused for a moment to deliberate before choosing the pickaxe. They tried to leave the area as soon as it closed, but the game wouldn't let them.
There was no other choice: they had to fight.
It didn't attack directly, not at first. Instead it summoned a flood of buzzing drones from its colony. Frantically, they searched their inventory. Tools were not available, but other items were...
They threw a radish at one of the drones. Enraged, it bites the vegetable in half.
Time to start swinging.
Thirty seconds later, the drone that bit the radish collapses from the air. The two give each other a knowing look.
It took every last one of their radishes, and, if the shaking bar at the top of the screen meant what they thought it did, nearly their life. But they made it out of the cave.
It was morning when they had left, and now the sun is rising over the mountains. They returned to the house, to let the character rest, and passed the orchard, where a rat sits in their lemon tree, feasting. Again.

It’s more like...how do I put this?
Dexit is now the least of my concerns.  Having completely removed myself from competitive, when I play the main games, I tend to prioritize new Pokemon to that generation, so I’m not just running the same teams all the time.  One of the difficulties of being this far into the series is that there are many, many set favorites that I’d want to run repeatedly, and it leaves less room for something new.  So taking away a bunch of options isn’t necessarily a problem.
Except in how selections seem to be made.  When you’re being selective, some of them get in but others don’t, that carries its own problems.  Like, we did this before.  Remember Gen 3?  A huge part of what soured me on Gen 3 as a kid was I couldn’t trade up my Eevees.  They’ve at least figured out the popular ones stay, but that just makes it extra annoying when your low-tier favorite isn’t present.  And if the goal now is “Well don’t worry, we’re bringing in around 700 of them with the new DLC!”  ...okay, so why not just go all the way?  Why stop short?  There’s no reason for it anymore.
It’s not even like the decision is strictly bad, but I think from past experience we’re pretty clear that Gen 5 is the way to go.  And given that’s how I’d like to play every time, followed by having zero interest in competitive and Pokemon having a terrible post-game now, there’s just not any...reason to worry about transfers?  Like, what am I going to do with Home?  What exactly am I going to do pushing things forward?  That’s why I stopped trying for Delphox the instant this got slightly challenging; I love Delphox and wouldn’t mind having it, but for what purpose?  There’s nothing left to do in Violet.  “But the DLC?”  Yeah I guess.  Except I already have a team.  And will probably just reset the save data anyway to play up through the DLC.  So what does Delphox do for me?  Why bother with it?  You know?  There was at least a sense of maintaining a living dex up through Gen 7, but the instant the games decided to be arbitrary about who gets in where and having nothing but terrible raid/den battles for a post-game, it lost all purpose for keeping even that aspect alive.

first tested by ripping the batt out of the controller for the most abrupt driver changes. possibly steam and cue are fighting for priority accessing drivers, idk. I know its a simple, some what pain in the♥♥♥♥♥fix. install steam to a more general use drive(non OS)ģ. after that it would work fine, unless the controller or anything else died or got unplugged. steam freezes with any game launched for roughly 3-5 mins. at the start of it steam and CUE were on the same drive together (not the OS drive). unfortunately i am certain you need multiple hard drives. Soooooooooooo, this has been a huge problem for me. Someone mentioned a Steam engineer but has not provided a channel to me for communication to dig deeper. We will do what we can to investigate this but without seeing it for ourselves, we can't fix it.

Its quite rampant and like I stated in a previous thread, all of these revolved around the same time Steam did an update to how they detect certain controllers (like the Sony Dualshocks).ĬUE may or may not exasperate the problem, but the source of the issue isn't so easily identifiable because most users don't exhibit this issue.

I don't see how you determine its a Corsair problem without a full analysis. Really need Corsair to do something about this. It appears to be causing some sort of USB conflict. One way to remedy this is to unplug the keyboard and it works just fine. This is clearly a Corsair problem and not a Steam problem. I'm having the exact same problem with my new K70 Lux RGB.

I'm seriously upset that they removed the option to hide the fuck-ugly annoying camera notch. why the fuck would you do that. it's one small option that makes a huge difference in customizability. why is there an update anyway if they're not improving anything, it's just design changes and they suck. fuck I'm angry

Playing an Astronomer
If playing an astronomer in your game interests you but you don’t know what class to use, I’ve gathered a few options you could pick, from simple subclasses to separate classes. Pick what works for you!
Artificer- Astronomer (5e homebrew subclass, GM Binder)- This is another subclass option for the artificer, like artillerist or alchemist, and it has an interesting and unique set of feats that come with it. It doesn’t add a whole lot of spells to the artificer’s already existing list, but it does add some things not previously open to artificers. Astronomer (5e homebrew class, DM’s Guild)- A fully separate caster class, with two different archetypes to choose from; Diviner, and Star Tamer. Diviner works off using your knowledge of the stars and celestials to predict the future for yourself and your enemies with feats that further allow you to manipulate what you see and change fate, to some extent. You can completely redo your turn and make it like you never took your turn thanks to the Written in the Stars feat. You can redo attack and damage rolls, attempt difficult tasks, and even make skill checks to gain information, which you don’t lose when you reset your turn.
Star Tamer, by contrast, is a bit more damage focused. You get a familiar and wings with this archetype, and at 18th level you become totally immune to both radiant and fire damage thanks to the Supernova feat. This class has feats that fit both archetypes well. And, the creator of the class has a note in the bottom of the PDF that allows for adding/removing things (such as spells, which I personally did for my eventual iconic because the ‘official’ spell list lacks the Crown of Stars spell and that’s just a shame.) so you can really be versatile in how you play your astronomer.
Stargazer (Pathfinder prestige class, Paizo)- This one’s a bit different, it’s a prestige class for PF which means you couldn’t make one outright, you have to hit some specific requirements in a base class first. The stargazer class grants a few things from the Wizard and Witch classes, such as familiars and the ability to cast hexes from the Witch’s hex list, and mixes in with things like Oracle revelations. It’s a good add on for an already existing character, with several options to enhance their abilities every couple of levels.
Astronomer (3.5e homebrew base class, Minmax Forum)- This class, as it’s laid out, is very complicated and complex. I’m not sure even I understand it fully. The astronomer has ‘phenomena’ they can “observe” (when you’re really creating them), they’re essentially your spells. They’re limited by your surroundings, called ‘conjunctions’, which essentially means the phenomena you can observe are limited by if it’s day, night, or if you’re somewhere you aren’t able to tell what time of day it is. The author has included a few tables that explain the various phenomena and conjunctions, both superior and inferior. It’s got roots in actual astronomy such as using various astronomer’s tools like an astrolabe or a spyglass to gain new skills and spells, which I appreciate personally, but again, this is a very complicated class layout.
Astronomer’s note: This is by no means an exhaustive list, and I haven’t play tested any of these except for the 5e Astronomer. Be sure to ask your DM before you use any of these, if you use them in a TTRPG.

Jon Renish (Foundation Technical Director @ BioWare, working on DA4) recently did a Twitch stream where he played through some DAO. Although he works on DA, this is his first time playing through DAO. He’s playing through it looking at random details from a dev perspective as he’s currently working on DA4 and therefore wants to know more about the previous games.
On the stream he mentioned some tidbits on the development of DA4. There were also some insights and anecdotes about the development of DAO and similar. It’s a 3 hour stream so I collected them here in case that’s of use to anyone (for example not everyone can watch streams which don’t have subtitles/captions). The stream is a fun/interesting watch though, so if you’re curious or able to watch I recc doing so. 😊 The rest of this post is under a cut for length.
Please note that there’s some paraphrasing on my part, this is not a transcript.  There are also some additions from another dev who featured on the stream to give some commentary. The stream also contains more snippets that at times I couldn’t make out (I tried my best!).

DA4
Jon said he can talk about things about DA4 that aren’t “consumer-facing”, but he can’t say anything about the game that would be consumer-facing but which isn’t already publicly available. There are several reasons for this. One, that’s not his job, there are people whose job this is and they let each other do their respective roles. Two, BW are a publicly-traded company, so if he said something that could affect that that would be insider trading. Three, they’re not done making DA4 yet, so if he said that they have added [x] to the game and people got all excited about that or pre-ordered on that basis, but [x] ended up being cut, people would be like ‘BioWare lied to us’, when it’s just that things changed during the course of development, as is often the case
He’s glad that fans are excited for the game but notes that fan expectations are always double-edged. It can be really tough as some people started ‘playing’ the game in their heads as soon as they heard of it. That’s fine, he loves that, but he hopes that peoples’ expectations don’t turn into requirements. Clearly BW have alluded to certain characters, like Solas, being in the game, but some fans say things like “If [say] Morrigan isn’t in the game, then, rahhh!” Y’know, there’s a lot of talk about how certain characters have to be in the game, and yeah.
On characters which are quantum (i.e. characters which can die or which can have similar end-states as death in previous games): their being quantum makes it really hard for the devs to work with those characters in subsequent games. The devs naturally aren’t going to put as much effort into characters which could have died previously. A character can have had an amazing appearance throughout/role in a previous game, but if there is a risk of something happening to them and of them being removed [effectively] from the plot, it just doesn’t make sense to have them as a major character in a subsequent game. If a character can, say, sacrifice themselves in some glorious ending, the devs have to make sure that if they use them again, in worldstates where the character didn’t do that, the character is kind of ‘muted’, as the devs don’t want to disrespect the players who made a different choice
A comment in chat expressed a wish for Shale in DA4. Jon’s response is that he has no idea on that front
Bugs don’t come out of crunch, they come out of development in general. Crunch does impact on the quality of a game though. In recent years BW are always really trying to reduce crunch, they’re currently working really hard to bring it down. The best way of doing that is by controlling scope. As creatives it’s tough to balance wanting to make great stuff and be industry-leading with the desire to constantly do extra passes over things they’ve created like the audio, art etc. Their biggest enemy is time, other ways of reducing crunch or time spent in general include iterating tools to make often-repeated processes as time-efficient as possible
I think the following was an observation on the industry in general as opposed to a BW-specific/-exclusive comment: he thinks that as a result of this sort of thing [working to reduce crunch], a lot of games are going to have to be smaller and a lot more focused in scope i.e. the devs will have to focus on hitting the key selling points of that particular game/series as hard as they can, and cut down on branching out sideways/wide on a bunch of random other stuff
Jon doesn’t personally engage in character creators in games, but he knows that for some players that expression is worth a lot of time and focus. BW want to be industry-leading in this kind of stuff as it’s something which is interesting/key/integral to their games
In a way BW have made their own nest of problems what with every DA game being so different to the previous one. Still, he notes that each game has a staunch fanbase that says that their particular favorite game is the best one in the series
He doesn’t want people who think that DA4 isn’t what they want to buy it and be upset - there are so many other great games out there! BW are going to make the game they’re going to make - if some people like it, that’s great, and if some people don’t, that’s cool. Sometimes waiting until reviews are out and/or really seeing beforehand if a game is something that you want [has things/features in it that you want] prior to getting it - as opposed to jumping right in or pre-ordering - is a good idea. Fans don’t always know what they want, but they do know what they like - these are 2 different things
He hopes that whatever they ship for DA4, people go “I enjoyed this experience”, and that then, if there’s additional content for it down the road, people can decide, “do I want this further content?”
On hair: BW are using the new hair technology in the latest version of the Frostbite engine, so they’ll see what they can do! This was said in response to a comment about the hair in the latest FIFA games (as EA make FIFA)
A comment in chat asked about a flying mechanic (griffons). Jon’s response is that flying is such a heavy gameplay mechanic that you can’t put it in a game without everything in the game being built about it (see Anthem)
Relating to the above comment, in DA4 mounted combat would be cool but then they’d have to make the game ‘around’ mounted combat and make the mounted combat feature meaningful
On the underwater concept art: it should not be interpreted as a promise of gameplay. BW have amazing artists who sit down for a couple weeks while they’re in early production and just draw loads and loads of all kinds of stuff. Concept art is like a moodboard or Pinterest board. Elsewhere in the stream he advised, take all the concept art together like a mosaic and ask, ‘what is the overall theme[s] here?’, and to zoom out from individual details. [This stuff echoes PW’s word on concept art]
BW don’t generally write things or the choices as bleak as the choices in DAO were anymore. This is a conscious choice on their part, they want their game to be fun [note: this was said when the side quest in Orzammar where the Warden has the option of convincing a dwarven mother to abandon her young baby to die was being played through. It seems to refer to intensively grimdark choices/beats of this kind]
I think this was more of a general comment on games: SSDs (solid state drives) mean that players will see shorter elevator rides (Mass Effect - was this a reference to the remaster?) and fewer switchback corridors (those are actually loading zones). Generally, these are going to change mechanically the time it takes to do stuff in games
The devs have lots of features on their backlog that they’d like to offer players but each will ofc involve implementation and subsequent maintenance, and each one that is chosen to add is being chosen over something else. And sometimes, it’s hard for them to tell if [x] feature or [y] feature would be better to add to the game
They’re about to work on a giant feature (a pure tooling feature, something that isn’t consumer-facing) that is probably going to take ~2 staff years of effort [I think “staff effort” includes multiple staff working concurrently, so 2 years of staff effort doesn’t = 2 years of time chronologically] to get done in the next few months. They’re investing all this effort across the people working on it because they don’t want their artists and designers etc to have to deal with the problem that it’s going to solve anymore. I’m not sure what this feature is but elsewhere in the stream they referred to tooling and automation and gave the example of, the better your tooling is, the fewer times you have to manually set the camera for a human vs elf vs dwarf position, for dynamically-generated [cinematic?] content and for the first pass to be automated (if this is the case, less time is spent/wasted on redoing it and manually touching it up) [see last bullet point in this section]
He doesn’t know how big DA4 is going to be but said “let’s ballpark and say like most games it’ll be somewhere between 70 and 100 GB”
If we kept our Wardens as the PC throughout all 3 games, at the end they would be so powerful that it’d be a bit like “Let’s just do [thing], I’ve killed gods before, whatever”. He thinks it’s good that they have fresh characters each time in DA in order to reset that power level. Some people want more Commander Shepard in the next Mass Effect and he feels like, ‘what else could you possibly want / what else could that character possibly do after 3 games?’
When asked how much freedom he/they have now to focus on next gen, he said that there’s actually almost no difference on that front. The problems never change. They now have better renderers, better ray-tracing, better graphics cards etc, but they have always made DA games for high- and low-spec PCs, so it’s actually about gameplay systems. The freedom isn’t power-based and them getting access to more cores and more RAM generally isn’t going to change how the games are played. The games still have to be made for hard drives on PC. Dev creativity matters more than power here. The challenge of building a BW game is more about/from managing loads of different plotstates, loads of different art pieces, etc
On the title situation (two): names are the last thing they worry about because names have to go through legal before being approved. Every name, including character names, has to be checked in case it’s a famous person, or associated with something bad, or offensive in a different language due to localization etc
They don’t do face scans of people with big beards
There was also a bit about changes/developments to/in the cinematic design process and associated tooling [?] but I found it too hard to follow sorry >< This bit of commentary begins at timestamp ~ 1:52:45 and continues til ~ 2:00:05 [keep listening through the bit where they pause for a cutscene]
General BW
There’s currently ~350 staff in Edmonton, ~200 in Austin and more elsewhere
He notes that DA games sell pretty well, but relative to EA games in general, they’re a drop in the bucket compared to FIFA
DAI
5% of players of DAI never created a character [Q: does this refer to people who just used the default appearances/presets with no editing, or people who only played multiplayer?]
The mounts don’t actually go faster than running, this is an illusion
I think they said it has 55,000 lines of dialogue. [I’m pretty sure I remember devs elsewhere saying it has 80,000 lines of dialogue]
One of the companions had to have their name changed during development because of legal/translation reasons. It sounds like the original name sounded too close to something offensive
DA2
Back when DA2 was internally code-named “Nug Storm”: this was at the beginning when it was pitched to the team on a set of slides. The image on the slide for that pitch had devil horns, a metal hand and no flesh, it was just made out of fire and flames
DAO
The engine DAO is made on is the third engine that they tried for it during development. [David Gaider has gone into the DAO engine stuff some on Summerfall’s series of DAO playthrough streams]
The cracks on the cracked eluvian asset are modelled after the crack on the Tardis in Doctor Who from around that time, as at the time some devs had been talking about Doctor Who a lot. A dev actually added this factoid to DAO’s entry on TV Tropes but someone else (evidently not a DA dev) came by and deleted it saying that it was too much of a stretch x)
Before the game had its name there was an HTML script that randomly generated possible titles for consideration, it adds verbs and nouns together e.g. “Grim Dark”. One of the craziest possibilities that it once generated that the devs always remember is "Bone Wind”
One of the portraits that’s used for decoration around the world in-game (it’s of a bearded human man) is actually of a specific BW staff member
He played through Stone Prisoner, where Wilhelm’s son Matthias gives exposition in the cellar. Matthias is voiced by GE and this had been pointed out to Jon earlier on. Jon: “I don’t think that character’s voice acting was super strong there”
On the in-game area towards the end of Stone Prisoner: Outdoor areas in games are large and one of the things needed for them is streaming, so different chunks can be ‘streamed in’. There’s a tower [?], and technically the top of the tower was made an outdoor level so that sky stuff could be there, though it didn’t really need to be. The person that made it an outdoor level chose the very smallest chunk size for the terrain mesh, which determines how fine of a streaming they do. So when playing, every time you moved like 4 meters, the game would stream out 50-100 chunks behind you and the same in front of you (this is the bubble around the player of what actually exists). Because it was so small, it was constantly thrashing the CPU and disc to do all the loading. The devs were like “this isn’t going to work”, but they barely had any time. The solution: they made a new level that was outdoor and copied all the sunlight and other settings, but with the largest chunk size. They copy-pasted the entire level from one to the other. The problem with that many chunks then is that there was a giant expanse of flat terrain sticking out of the middle of the tower. They didn’t know if the story was going to involve shots of the outside of the tower for this sequence or not, so they took the terrain deformation tool and bundled all the terrain vertices at the bottom of the tower in a giant clump. So to this day there’s a mess of vertices and twisted terrain at the bottom of the final level that probably no-one has ever seen [not sure though if this anecdote is in reference to a place in that DLC or somewhere elsewhere in the game?]
There were also some tidbits on Anthem, however I didn’t note them down (sorry).

the more i sit with that ending scene and think about it, the more i can’t...blame kris for doing it. 
sure, it looks Pretty Bad, given that ralsei had just explained to the group (and the player) what opening a fountain in the overworld would do. but what other option is there for kris? to let their body keep being manipulated by a force that isn’t them? that isn’t...of this world? and let it keep puppeteering their life like it is just some silly game? because what it seems like from their actions is that kris is more aware of the general situation than we originally thought. 
at the end of chapter 1, they remove their soul and menacingly turn to the camera, brandishing a knife. and it was scary! a lot of people were making connections to no-mercy-route chara and freaking out because it Surely meant something was going to go wrong! 
but why did chara even get that menacing, anyway? 
they were pushed to. their limit was reached. if they didn’t scare the player away from this world, then it would keep getting reset and destroyed and reset and saved and destroyed and reset reset rest--
it’s that same kind of desperate gesture. kris was trying to scare us away from picking up the game ever again. 
and their bluff was called. because we kept playing. over and over and over, playing the same story, making the same decisions, coming to that same ending.
the world was reset so much before this second chapter. and it can be assumed kris is aware of that, to some degree. after all, if they could tell their body is being piloted, wouldn’t they be able to tell the day was repeating? 
kris searched on their computer: “college vacation when” (or something like that i can’t find the exact screenshot right now). it’s very obvious that kris misses asriel, for whatever reason you want to believe (him being a good brother, him being kris’s only friend, him being the only person who understands kris’s suffering with the soul manipulation, etc.) and they’re waiting for him to come home. according to the first chapter, asriel is set to be home in a week. 
7 days.
7 chapters of the game. 
7 infinite loops of the same 7 days of the same 7 events that they have no control over.
asriel is never coming home. 
kris knows that, so long as this “game” can continue, they will never see their brother. maybe they’re already aware they’ll never see their brother again (hence why they shut their eyes when entering asriel’s personal cell in queen’s mansion). but they only have one option for turning the odds in their favor:
destroying the game
who would want to play a game when all of the beloved characters have turned to statues, the familiar places have fallen to ruin, and everyone is in despair?
as drastic as it is, it’s their only option. destroy their world to destroy the game. then the player will stop interacting, since there won’t be any adventure to go on, and their world will be turned back to normal. like how it was Before the player’s influence started. before that first day, when their life was theirs and their body was theirs and they made their own decisions and everything felt right and real and normal
and, hopefully, asriel can come home. even if it’s to a house that has been turned to dust by the darkness crushing the universe.

PC:1.69.54.1020 / Mac: 1.69.54.1220 Console: Version 1.35 Happy Holidays Simmers! It’s time to go back in to Create a Sim! Where in this update you will find 100+ new skin tones, customization sliders for skin tones and makeup, and three improved base game hairstyles! Every skin tone now has a value slider that allows you to change the light to dark value of that skin tone, unlocking a much wider variety of skin tone options for you to play with! You will also find that our skin tones are now filterable to warm, cool, and neutral tones (as well as miscellaneous that covers our occult skin tones).
The new makeup sliders add more choices and opportunities for you to customize your Sims, and express your Sim’s style! Hue, saturation, value or brightness, and opacity are now available to modify on the makeup. We have locked some of the sliders where it did not provide an optimal experience or make sense for the makeup. Expect us to continue our work on these issues into the future to provide you with more. In addition to the customization opportunities provided, you can also save custom swatches as you tweak your sliders to get the perfect look. When you click on the swatch (for skin tones and makeup) as you modify the sliders, you will have an opportunity to save your custom settings, so you can re-use it later without having to remember your perfect looks! Did we mention that we made some hair updates? We did - we updated a base game child hair (cfHair_BraidedPonyTail), and we added a second version of that hair that removes the baby hairs (cfHair_BraidedPonyTailPlain). And we updated a base game male hair that you may find difficult to recognize from the original hair (ymHair_flatTopTextured)!

Sims 4
Sketching so much that the Digital Sketch Pad just quit on you? Never fear! Freelancer Sims that use the Digital Sketchpad will now be able to complete designs without being reset abruptly.
Happy Birthday to all! Sims will now properly Age Up. Adulting is hard but they will make it, don’t worry.
Fixed an issue in which Doors, Windows, and Arches had cutouts when being reflected in Mirrors. Rorrim Rorrim no eht llaw, ohw si eht tseriaf erutaef fo meht lla?
Sims that do not have the Fishing Skill, or have not been Fishing at all, will not get notifications about identifying Fish. THEY WERE FISHING WITH THEIR MINDS.
The following careers have added the “Take Vacation Day” option, yay!Editor Russkii note: I didn’t want to add each line in each pack for this fix, it would have looked weird and robotic so that is why I chose to do one bullet point for all in this section.
Child Sims will no longer forget they are in their Sleepwear when they go to school. Though in these times of Work and School from Home, I don’t blame them one bit.
The Sweet Escapes Country Toilet will no longer be Comfortable AND Uncomfortable at the same time… There can only be one!
Sims with the Best Selling Author Aspiration can now complete their task of writing 3 Best Sellers.
Fixed an issue in which resized objects would disappear when they were part of downloaded Gallery items.
We revised our Careers (Pack specific and not) and we made sure there were no Chance Cards that were repeated constantly.
We noticed we had added the option to Clean Up Toddler on kitchen and bathroom sinks for both Toddlers and Children by mistake, so we removed it for both age groups from the sink… but how would have they fit? Like… how? These are the questions that keep me up at night.
Build Snowpal interaction is no longer available on non-natural ground (For Simmers that own Seasons and/or Snowy Escape). That's why it's called a Snowpal, not a Floorpal!

We made a clarification on the Xenophilia moodlet when interacting with Alien Sims. It should no longer say “From Discovering Aliens” but now it correctly reads “From Interacting with Aliens.”
Fixed an issue in which childbirth was not possible if Simmers changed the color swatches of the Surgery Tables. Now listen, I have heard about renting whole hospital wings for a birth in real life and other eccentricities, but this… was really something.
Get Together
Male Sims will no longer get Pregnant after receiving calls from NPC Sims.
City Living
NPC Sims will now text and call with invitations to Festivals. I personally welcomed the calm and quiet of my phone not beeping about constantly. But I can’t miss a Festival!
Sims rejoice! Yard sale customers will no longer invade their Home Lots and use Household objects. It is a Yard Sale… OUT in the yard, not an Open House.
Did you ever regret trusting some Sims enough to give them your apartment keys to constantly get visits from them for Milk and Juice? You can rest assured that they will no longer visit you for this purpose. I think some neighborly love is appreciated, but this went beyond the proverbial “May I have a cup of sugar?” type of situation.
Fixed an issue in which interactions to participate on GeekCon contests would not appear when interacting with objects.
We decided to give a bit more clarity when displaying the location of Festivals, so now it will display as “Near <insert location>” and not a distinct location that is not entirely correct. This is true for Festivals in Snowy Escape as well.
Cats and Dogs
Pets will no longer sleep in random places when told to sleep on their Pet beds. In my world they can sleep where they are most comfortable, my conspiracy… allegedly.
Seasons
Sims can now Shower in the Rain… Jury is still out on Singing and Dancing.
Sims will no longer “lose” their shovels when performing other autonomous activities while performing the interaction “Shovel Snow.”
Our friendly neighborhood Snowpal has been properly renamed to Chill from Chil. Everything I knew before was a lie… a LIE!
Ever felt like the Holiday spirit has just been too much to handle, and Father Winter starting to show up everywhere and not letting you do much of anything getting a bit… out of hand? Fear not! Father Winter will stop replicating himself* to spread holiday cheer. *Note this fix is not entirely retroactive, new saves should see this without issue. Existing saves will correct themselves over time.
Get Famous
Duck Security SCROO9E Super XL Smart Vault will no longer disappear after Sims Woohoo in it… you can say Woohoo can be romantic and magical, but maybe not to this extent?
NPCs from the Actor Career sometimes would never show on Set, making gigs impossible to complete. We've spoken with their union reps and everyone has agreed to stop this ridiculous strike. What were they striking about? Was there even a Strike? We may never know.
Island Living
Mermaids and other Occults should no longer be able to make hybrid occults. How were they making them? Oh boy, I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to give you the mermaid-birds and spellcaster-bees talk.
Randomly generated Mermaid Sims will no longer be seen without some features in affected Simmer Saves. However this fix is not retroactive, so it should be seen fixed in new saves.
Pizza delivery to Lagoon Look Lot has been fixed to arrive promptly. This is Sulani Deep Lagoon Pizza, home of the 2x1 Mermadic Kelp Pizza and the Salty Llama Combo, may I take your order? <Descriptive Simlish on the line> Uh huh… uh huh… <Indescribable Simlish on the line> Yes, we now can ACTUALLY deliver to Lagoon Look… <Interrogative Simlish on the line> Yes, we told our delivery Sims that they need to deliver it there and not keep the pizza for themselves… like give it to the actual client. <Surprised Simlish on the line>
Discover University
Has this ever happened to you? Your Sim is ready to make an offering to the Sprites only to find a crystal stuck without being able to move it? No longer a problem, Sims now can remove offerings so all their rituals can resume. Sprites rejoice.
We fixed an issue for our Console Simmers that wouldn’t allow them to close the Humanoid Robot’s Behavior Module Menus correctly.
Fixed an issue that would cause items to be repossessed when loans were fully paid. That is NOT how it worked Repo Person… NOT how it worked.
Sims with Research & Debate Skill 3 or higher will no longer be able to “Convince to” with Toddler Sims.
Masquerade Secret Society Masks are now properly unlocked in Create a Sim when joining the Secret Society.
Fixed an issue in which Heckle animation was sometimes not being performed autonomously by Sims while playing Ping Pong.
Eco Lifestyle
Fixed an issue that triggered the Off-the-Grid notifications after traveling to different Lots in Evergreen Harbor, even when they are not labeled as Off-the-Grid.
We spoke to all Eco Inspectors, and they have agreed that they should NOT be charging the Energy efficient appliances fine if your appliances are fully upgraded to be super efficient and amazing. I mean all that work and still get fined? Not in this house!
Fixed an issue in which some placeholder text was showing in notifications after Dumpster Diving.
The Americana Station Speakers will now play Music… as the prophecy foretold.
When the We Wear Bags N.A.P is active, Grim Reaper will not be partially invisible when appearing on a Lot. Grim Reaper contributes!
Living the No Appliance lifestyle? We’ve got news for you! Sims will no longer be penalized for not having “Eco-Friendly Appliances.” No appliances, no fines!
Snowy Escape
Vending Machine Canned Soups and Drinks won’t spoil anymore. Time to stock up!
Sims can no longer go on Hikes while holding their Toddlers.
Space Heaters will now be able to be placed on Lots from Inventory. Sharing the warmth everywhere!
Fixed an issue in which the Shoe Removal Sign in 5-1-2 Kiyomatsu was not working properly. We also added Shoe Removal Signs in 5-1-1 Kiyomatsu and 2-4-2 Wakabamori.
Sims will now be more visibly furious when having the appropriate furious sentiment toward other Sims. “Yes, I’m mad!... No! This IS my furious face!”
Fixed an issue with some animations that would stutter while Snowboarding or Skiing. We also made sure that Sims with a high level of those skills would not always choose the Bunny Slopes.
Izzy Fabulous’ Star Simmi Rank was just too fabulous so we had to correct it to be one star less than displayed. Don’t worry Izzy, you are a full 4 stars in my book, you are that fabulous to me.
After much debate of whether it is the Cave Shrine or the Mountain Shrine for Hiking destinations we finally decided to just call it Mountain Shrine.
We revised the Snoop-Proof Bamboo Blinds and it is now possible to drop’em like they’re hot with the Thousand Words Window.
NPC Sims will no longer “take over” the Slopes for themselves for an indefinite period of time, now they will be sharing with all Sims the joys of the Slopes.
Fixed an issue in which Sims would get highlighted in the Sentiment Panel as if receiving new Sentiments every time traveling is involved.
Sims with Rock Climbing Skill 7, or higher, are able to autonomously climb the Tall Wall (Such tall! So much wall!). There is no need to not face what makes you uncomfortable… autonomously.
Had a chat with Yamachan and asked if he was ok, he seemed to start random conversations and then randomly say goodbye without reason. We are happy to report that he is OK now and will try not to do that. Give us a hug Yamachan.
Food Stalls at Mt. Komorebi Festivals won’t be closing shop randomly during Festival hours anymore. <guitar and piano intro> Closing time, open all the Stalls and eat all the food in the world...Closing time, turn all the lights on and let Yamachan greet you heeeere…
Create a Sim asset ymHat_EP10HelmetGoggles has been fixed to no longer display clipping around the neck area as well as we made sure no facial hair is removed when wearing this asset.
Dine Out
Experimenting with photo frames will no longer use the same picture of an Experimental Meal when displayed.
Hot Pot meals are now part of Restaurant Menus! I miss the times I would go to eat Hot Pot at a restaurant. One of my favorites has a conveyor belt that carries your fixings never leaving your table for a thing. *happy sigh*
Vampires
Vampire Sims will no longer be affected by temperature, so they won't be constantly obsessed with lighting fireplaces trying to get warm.

am i the only one that's nervous for the possible stream tomorrow? i'm afraid for techno and wanted you to reassure me. /jk /jk i just wanted to know your thoughts on what might happen?
oh, believe me, i think we're ALL nervous dskfdskdks
but i'll do my best!
the biggest worry i think, for myself and others, is the prison entry procedure. it would ensure that techno has nothing to defend himself against whatever quackity has planned.
i honestly can't imagine a scenario where techno agrees to it. i suppose there could be (he did die during hbomb's challenge and prison entry deaths don't count as canon so i suppose it's possible, but i'll get to that later) but i think techno would probably refuse.
i think techno would refuse and i think quackity would convince sam to allow techno to enter with merely removing his armor and weapons and placing them in a chest. i feel like that's a compromise they'd be willing to make and i think quackity is smart enough to realize it's his best option. it's not ideal but quackity would still have the advantage by far. it would also give techno the chance to pull another stunt like with the execution and keep the stasis pearl active.
my best case scenario is this: quackity and sam make the above concessions. techno, who i believe might already have a plan based on his 'does it even matter?' line, goes in with a set of backup gear. he has phil and possibly niki (i don't think they'd involve ranboo in this) waiting outside in case things go wrong or perhaps just waiting for some kind of signal. ideally, his intention from the start was freeing dream because regardless of what he's done, anarchism and prisons don't mix. or he sees the state dream is in and goes 'i can't believe i have to tell you torture is wrong' and enacts his plan to break dream out.
because dream still is one of the few people that hasn't betrayed techno and that means something.
other options include:
- techno does agree to the prison procedures because the deaths aren't canon and has some measure of trust in quackity and complete trust in his friends to help him if something goes wrong. quackity has beaten down dream enough that even though he considers techno the only friend and ally he has left, he's not able to warn techno of quackity's intent. he either traps techno in the prison (likely, based on the whole 'i'll have sam make space for you' bit) or takes a canon life then traps him. that would leave techno alone with dream who unwillingly betrayed techno. i personally think techno would be understanding because he knows what it's like to be backed into a corner and forced to do something you didn't want to against an ally. it then falls to the rest of the syndicate to get techno out. this would be interesting to me because it would kinda force ranboo to make an actual choice, instead of trying to stay in the middle.
- techno again agrees to the prison procedures but dream warns him of what's happening and quackity's plans. this is his one remaining ally and if techno gets trapped in the cell with him, his chance of escape is greatly diminished. so dream shouts for techno to run. what happens then, i'm not entirely sure. perhaps he uses the stasis pearl (if they do in fact have a plug-in to stop it from resetting on death) but promises to come back for dream. perhaps he tries to use the stasis pearl but it fails. perhaps techno attempts to knock sam or quackity into the lava. perhaps he jumps into the lava himself to go back to the previous spawn point because at least that would catch them off-guard and he wouldn't be trapped in the cell.
regardless, what i hope happens is dream realizes he has at least one person on his side and that techno stands up against the horrific and morally bankrupt (despite what dream has done) treatment.
though i will say, if techno doesn't react in a deep and meaningful way, i won't be upset. i know cc!techno doesn't like to get involved with angst because he's not comfortable with it and wants to keep his streams light and this is a heavy subject.

On a more possitive note, I’ve started watching Sword Art Online. It’s one of the worst things I’ve ever seen (and the last film I saw in cinemas was Cats to give you context for the scale i’m working on here) and I kind of adore it in much the same way I love garbage like Smallville or Twilight. It’s so stupid on so many levels. You could challenge someone to write the worst anime, and it would almost certainly be better than SAO. It’s almost hypnotic how terrible it is.
No one should watch this terrible terrible show so I therefore don’t feel at all bad that I’m about the spoil absolutely everything, but honestly if you do also hate-watch this please come talk to me about how terrible it is. I don’t know anyone else who watches it.
Highlights of Season 1 include:
everyone is trapped in an MMO, and if you die in the MMO you die IRL. but if you were a beta-tester you’re probably fine because they just let them keep all their levels and items from the testing, so they’re all massively OP and everyone just accepts this as a normal and non-game-breaking thing
it’s a fantasy MMO but there’s no races, no magic system, no weapons except swords and maces, and not even an option to dual wield - literally all you can do in this fucking game is stand in front of an enemy and mash the attack button. I’m pretty sure they’re trapped there because the devs realised no one would play this post launch-day otherwise because it’s boring as shit
when the villain traps everyone he also just changs all their avatars to look like they do IRL for absolutely no reason, like actually none, he doesn’t even say he thinks it would be funny, he just does it and no one questions it and it is literally never mentioned again because this is the worst TV show ever animated.
in the second episode the main character deliberately witholds information about how to defeat a boss, indirectly causing multiple deaths. there is absolutely no reason for him to withhold it, he was just being a jerk because he doesn’t like people
in the third episode they reset his entire personality and he’s now a selfless hero pretending to be a lower level than he really is so people will find him more relateable and be his friend because all he wants is to help people. this is not a consequence of episode 2, they just decided they didnt like the character as he’d previously been written.
he makes some new friends who are all objectively terrible people who have decided for no season that the twelve year old who doesn’t really know how to play and keeps having anxiety attacks about the very real possibility of death has to be the guild tank. the MC is high enough level to be functionally immortal in like half the levels, but doesn’t tell anyone this he just lets them go on bullying this child
none of his friends survive that episode, in the game or IRL. which is also a christmas epsiode. a child dies in battle because she’s a terrible tank and then a man commits suicide out of guilt, so then the main character murders santa to try and bring them back from the actual dead but it doesn’t work because again, this is a video game and they are dead IRL, so then he walks off into the snow alone. Christmas!
we meet the best character in the entire show in episode 4, Rosalia, who has gone evil and started just straight murdering people because she’s sick of being an attractive adult woman who can’t get a date because she’s surrounded by lolicons who are only interested in the preteen characters (not a joke, that comes up, the show is firmly on the side of the lolicons)
in the same episode we get an extended bra and panty sequence staring an actual fucking child, like canonically this character is maybe 13 at best. this is one of only 2 occaisions when they feel the need to undress a character and it’s the fucking 12 year old, it’s so gross it reads like a parody of itself
literally every single named female character aged over 8 who talks to the MC falls in love with him after like 5 minutes (and in season 2 this includes his actual sister). he shows absolutely no interest in any of them (including his sister, thank god) until...
the main character gets engaged to a girl he only knows from an MMO after a virtual single date (he doesn’t actually win her in a PVP match but only because he looses the match, he 100% canonically tries to win her in a match, which she is apparently fine with). he then doesn’t bother to ask for her real name until the final episode, he just calls her by her screen name
(that’s okay though becuase it turns out that this moron of a love interest used her real name, on a local server, in a game where your character looks like you do IRL, because apparently getting doxxed is her hobby)
they then get in-game married off screen. there’s not even like a still of a wedding photo. nothing. the main character proposes and then the show immediately jumps to the honeymoon, it’s fucking bizarre.
they find a creepy child dressed all in white with no memory alone in the woods a week into their honeymoon who starts calling them mommy and daddy literally seconds after they first meet her, and they don’t suspect anything suss is going on and adopt her
for hilarity bear in mind the main character may only be 15 at this point (he says he’s only just turned 16 in the last epsiode, but his actual birthday is never mentioned), and his virtual wifu is 16, but no one ever questions the marriage or the adoption, even though ‘hey marriage in a video game is as important and meaningful as marriage in real life’ is an actual conversation people have multiple times. also they think the child they adopt is an actual IRL 8 year old who thinks these randos she met in an MMO are her mum and dad and everyone just goes with that like it’s a totally normal thing
a character called ‘Thinker’ agrees to meet an enemy faction leader for peace talks. the “peace talks” take place in a high level dungeon and he is told to come alone with no weapons and no fast travel. he does this. no one ever comments that his name is ironic, and in fact they seem to think that being betrayed and trapped in a dungeon with a boss is a totally unexpected turn of events Thinker could never have planned for
they take their new baby into the dungeon to rescue thinker, because they went to the jean grey school of baby rearing, and she imediately reveals that she’s actually a magical maggufin with infinite power, murders the grim reaper, and then dies. In literally the second episode she’s in
after she dies the MC hacks the admin account of the game, converts her corpse into an in game item, and saves to the local storage on his console, with the intention of bringing her back to life as a robot once they’re saved from the game. I’m not joking, that’s an actual thing that happens.
the fact that the main character can just access the main admin account and make massive game-breaking changes isn’t used again in that game and he never thinks to try and use it to force log people out or give himself infinite life so he can just rush the game and free everyone. nope, convert a corpse into an item and then never think about it again.
there’s an entire episode where all they do is go fishing. its the only filler episode in the season, and it immediately follows the death of a small child. it’s the most tone-deaf beach episode in writing history
it turns out this game, this game where they didn’t bother coding in any difference races, weapons, or any kind of magic system, was intended to have fully sentient AI therapists, because why the fuck not at this point honestly
oh also the game has PVP and you can trick the game into thinking a sleeping player is in PVP with you in order to actually murder a real person without it flagging in-game as a murder making the crime impossible for the real life legal system to investigate even though you just murdered a person. and they expect us to believe this game had actual beta testers. at least cyberpunk wasn’t played on microwaves you connected straight to your brain (also not a joke, the VR consoles canonically work by sending microwave radiation into your brain, no wonder VR never caught on)
the set up for the show is that they have to reach level 100 of a dungeon in order to win. At level 75, the writers got bored and the show just ends.
it turns out the power of love allows you to just break the fucking game and the main villain literally has a line about how ‘love allows you to remove debuffs, huh, we didn’t think to plan for that’ because again, there’s no metaphors in this show, everything is 100% literal including the fact that falling in love with another player means you’re immune to the paralysis status effect
power of love also allows you to very briefly become a poltergeist after being killed, but only for like 2 seconds. again not a joke or a metaphor, main character is killed but then gets to hang around as a ghost for a little bit to enable him to defeat the boss. he also doesn’t die in real life despite that being the entire fucking premise of the show, again because power of love.
the bad guy literally has no plan, he’s just doing shit for the sake of having something to do. His actions directly cause the deaths of more than 4,000 people, and it’s not even in aid of anything. they ask him why he trapped 10,000 people in an MMO and allowed them to slowly die, and he’s just like ‘huh, i forgot i did that, random’ and then just fucking peaces out
the fact that he committed one of the largest mass killings outside of war never really comes up again, as far as we know he doesn’t even go to jail. i think the show actually kind of thinks he’s a good guy, which is a fucking WILD moral stance to take on the deaths of 4000 completely innocent people for absolutely no reason
If this sounds hilari-bad but you don’t want to invest the time to watch a show which is objectively garbage, it has an abridged series which is famously better than the show it’s parodying (i’m dead serious, people have character arcs, the getting married after one date thing is properly addressed, the mc has to deal with PTSD because of all his friends dying in epsidode 3, they don’t immediately follow the death of a child with an extended fishing montage, the villain has an actual plan). It’s mostly actually pretty good, but this is the internet and it’s an abridged series, so while there are a lot fewer yikes moments than most it still has enough that I’m not comfortable recommending it without the caveat. that said I still enjoyed it a lot, although possibly not at much as pointing and laughing at the garbage that is the actual show.
