When Andrei proposed, your life turned from a dream into a fairytale. You’d found your Prince Charming, and now you were lucky enough to spend the rest of your life with him.

The wedding planning was, naturally, a little chaotic and stressful, but you were having fun doing it with him by your side. He was patient, understanding, offering his opinions when you asked; otherwise, he just wanted you to have the perfect day, whatever that meant.

Your shower was scheduled at the sweet spot just before pre-season began to ramp up but when most everyone was trickling back into Raleigh to gear up for training. The venue was beautiful, and your best friend and the other wives had done an incredible job planning and decorating for the Love is Sweet theme.

Andrei insisted on being there, adamant that he should be there to thank everyone for supporting you and for the gifts they were giving the both of you. Fortunately—unfortunately?—he’d also brought along a rowdy group of hockey players, fresh off the golf course next door.

“When are the games? We were promised there’d be games.” Martinook’s boisterous voice sounded from the back of the room, and you couldn’t help but laugh as Andrei shook his head at him, not wanting to disrupt the pleasant brunch.

The ever-experienced Heather Staal shot up, graciously saying, “You’re in luck, Marty, because we are about to start some games right now!”

“We’ll need both our bride and groom up here for this one,” she said. “I’m going to read off a few statements, and each of you will raise the shoe of the person the statement applies to. “Last question, you two,” Heather’s voice says. “Let’s see if you can go 10 for 10.”

The last question—who fell in love first?—brings another smile to your face as you reflect back on the progression of your relationship. Truly, it felt like you and Andrei were written in the stars, meant to find each other. Once you met him, it was all too easy to fall in love; it was something you did almost unconsciously, just like breathing.

After another moment of reflection, you raise both shoes in the air, unable to decide on one or the other. The room once again bursts into cheers, and you turn around to find that Andrei, too, has raised both shoes in the air.

“Very impressive,” Heather applauds. “I don’t know what else to call it.”

“It’s called being soulmates, bitch!” Andrei exclaims with a grin.

Hello, all! I come to you with an experimental fic commission idea! For now, it's just a small grid to see if there's much interest in it. But I know there are lots of fankid breedable grids, and I got to thinking, why not a grid for ship fics? It sounded like a fun idea for me, so I wanted to go ahead and try it!

RULES:

1. All payments must be made before I start on your fic. Payments can be made through PayPal, Venmo, or CashApp.

2. If you would like to purchase an entire row for a polyship fic, it will still be the standard tier price plus $8 each for a total of $16 extra dollars.. If you purchase A1, B2, or C3, then the fic will center around the character of choice and may not have any other characters in it as main characters.

3. Please see tier list for pricing. My commissions are also open should you want to purchase more words than are allowed here, but it will incur an extra fee of $8 per 100 words.

4. I would prefer not to take commissions outright bashing Valentino. He is my favorite and a comfort character to me, so it would be better if he was not being treated like a one-note monster.

5. I will write smut, angst, fluff, romance, and humor. These are genres I’m very well-versed in.

6. Once a purchase has been discussed, I will send you my commission form for you to fill out.

7. Fanfic examples can be found here. Please feel free to check both pseuds listed! Sunshinecackle is my main, and E-M-P-Error has all of my fics based on my rp blog interactions!

This was so hard. I need time for ten more rec lists because I read so much good stuff this year. If you are not on here but I commented on your fic this year, know that I sincerely wanted to put you on here. If you are not here and I didn't comment on your fic this year, please help me find it next year!!

Multi-Chapter/Other

Such a Marriage by DifferentSong (M, 29k, WiP). f!Maedhros/Maglor. Beautiful and unique treatment of these characters and relationship in the years after the second kinslaying. If you’re uncertain about this ship but curious, I highly recommend giving this story a try.

Droit du Seigneur by destinedatoms (E, 6.4k, WiP). Various elven kings hook up with their mortal vassals. Each chapter is so funny and hot, and features povs from very underwritten female characters.

Loyalty: A Tale in Three Voices (not rated, 10.1k, WiP) by @grey-gazania. Caranthir, Uldor, Easterling OFC. Compelling story, characters, and incredible worldbuilding following three unique POVs as an alliance is forged between the Easterlings and Feanorians. Great use of first-person.

Price of Eternity (series) by Encairion (E, 1.83 million, WiP). The novels and stories in this series are not going to be for everyone. They tackle basically every difficult topic you can imagine. They include takes that would probably make some of my mutuals torch the swanships. But Encairion does it all so skillfully. She’s like an artist who has mastered the techniques (i.e., the canon) and then does something radically original that only works because she has that foundation down. Some of her characterisations rewired my brain. I’m still far from done reading the series, but it’s truly a monumental achievement and so worth diving into with an open mind.

Celegorm by @dawnfelagund (reference work). Dawn’s bio of Celegorm for the Silmarillion Writers’ Guild is meticulously researched and engagingly written. Definitely worth a read for any fans of the Fëanorians or just how Tolkien’s characters evolved over the course of the legendarium’s development.

One-shots

The dining room by @ettelene (T, 8.8k). Ettelene kills it with group scenes and dynamics and this riotous fic about a Feanorian family dinner at Formenos from Celebrimbor’s POV showcases it beautifully.

Against His Wisdom by @melestasflight (M. 3.7k). Fingon/Fingolfin. A stunning, insightful look at the complexities of this relationship. Melesta handles the nature of the relationship so artfully. As always, their prose is so satisfyingly economical and impactful. I know the pairing may make some wary but I really encourage people to give it a try.

stardrop by @welcomingdisaster (T, 0.7k). Daeron/Maglor. I almost wept when I read this fic because it's so perfect. Lena somehow managed to get everything I love about this ship into 700 words. Doom, deceit, cultural misunderstandings, telling the narrative of your own life, immortality/mortality… if you want to know why I love Daemags, read this.

As Little as Might be Thought by @imakemywings (T, 2.9k). “Kidnap fam”. Rocky is a master of the argument and this spat between Maedhros and Maglor over the peredhel’s upbringing showcases it. So much characterisation and complicated relationship dynamics packed into this short piece.

Memories, Like Grains of Sand by @cuarthol (G, 1k). Elrond & Elros. cuarthol wrote some beautiful, complex works this year but this short piece stood out for me. The peredhel twins return to Balar and try to piece together their memories of Sirion. Showcases cuarthol’s talent for little moments of intimacy that will make you cry, not because they are particularly tragic (though they may be), but because they feel so real.

Oldies

Maglor and Daeron Sing the Blues by Voidflower (G, 5.6k). Maglor and Daeron meet in the Mississippi delta in the 1920s. I want to pour this fic in a crystal glass and sip on it on a rainy evening. Gorgeous prose and deeply satisfying character dynamics. 2018.

Dancing with my punchlines by LiveOakWithMoss (M, 321k). I know this Modern AU is fandom-famous already, but by god there’s a reason. I could not put these dramamonsters down. It was funny, it was touching, and it was spicy. I want to rip this fic open like a bag of chips and shovel it into my mouth in great handfuls. 2016.

What We May Become by @naryaflame (M, 8.8k). Caranthir/Finrod. Narya’s prose is delectably crisp and sensuous and I just loved reading this well-constructed nonlinear story of a fascinating rarepair. 2020.

The Redemption of Daeron by Rhunedhel (T, 7.3k). Daeron/OFC. I actually just found this and have not actually finished it, but I’ve read the first two chapters and it’s such a beautiful alliterative verse poem (!!) and original story of Daeron among the Avari. 1997.

An Education by @i-am-a-lonely-visitor (M, 49.4k). visitor has some of the most scrumptious, clever prose and most memorable characterisations I have read in the fandom and this first installment of his Elrondverse covering the early years is bursting with peredhel coming-of-age delights. 2021.

Mine

Scorched (E, 4.9k). Elrond/Maedhros, Maedhros/Maglor, Elrond & Elros. A psychosexual unfamily drama on Amon Ereb. Really enjoyed the experience of letting this tale unravel as I dipped into the minds of all four characters.

First Contact (T, 2.7k). Daeron/Maglor. Post-canon (they both sail). Daeron meets Fëanor. It’s a silly bit of sitcom, but also it’s about healing.

Who By Fire (M, 4.9k). Amrod/Fingolfin. A deep dark dive into the psyches of two hurting men in the early days of Fingolfin in Beleriand.

If You Are the Healer (E, 4.6k). Maedhros/Maglor. Liege/vassal dynamics and heaps of angst surrounding Maedhros’ decision to abdicate to Fingolfin. It’s fucked up, but they love each other.

Everlasting Darkness (E, 10.2k). Earendil/Maedhros, Elwing/Maglor (also Elwing/Earendil, Maedhros/Maglor). Canon divergence shitshow where Maedhros and Maglor are released from their oath on condition that they serve Eärendil and Elwing. My first fic of 2023, and it set me careening off the rails. No regrets.

[Bonus fic under my pseud: Played (E, 12.1k) by disastrousexpense. Maedhros/Maglor, Fingon/Maedhros. Absolutely off-the-rails smut between two asshole brothers in Valinor. It was SO FUN to write.]

3 years. 3 years you and your boyfriend have been able to keep your relationship hidden, away from the fans, social media, press. Those years of having a secret relationship weren’t the easiest, and things all changed the moment that secret relationship wasn’t so secret anymore.

You and Daniel were the perfect couple, going on sneaky dates at each other’s houses. You’d prepare a meal at your place, put a matrass on the ground, a blanket on top of it to prevent stains on the matrass. The moment he’d walk into your house in Monaco – the place you both lived – you were hiding with a water gun, leaving the second one near the front door with a note attached to it.

‘The first one to get SOAKED must do the dishes’

That was you and him, funny, happy, but in secret. You hated the media, not only because they were around you all the time, but also because of the fake news they would spread. Anything to get that million-dollar headline.

You were a singer, not lady gaga famous yet, but you were getting there. Small steps, slowly building your fanbase. Another reason you absolutely tried everything to prevent the media from finding out you and Daniel were madly in love with one another. You wanted to do it on your own. You wanted to become famous, sing like an angel, and have people love you because you were you, and not because you were Daniel’s girlfriend.

And boy, he adored that so much about you. Your strength, your power, and your determination to keep going, get higher up, be the best you could be. Independent, yet you couldn’t be away from each other.

However, the moment those pictures leaked, you noticed your fanbase growing. Most people would love it because this meant being successful was one step closer. It was withing hand reach. Most people, but not you.

Talks with your manager, talks with his manager, and most importantly, talks with each other. You were stressing so much, scared because you didn’t want to go in the books as ‘girlfriend of’. You were scared people would like you because you were dating Daniel, and not because they actually enjoyed your music.

‘’Baby.’’ Daniel reached for your hands, giving them a gentle squeeze as you looked up into his eyes, his bright shiny eyes that would clear up the thunder in your head instantly.

‘’What if they don’t like me, what if they think I’m not good enough for you and nobody will listen to my songs?’’ You were rambling, it was something you always did whenever you were nervous or scared, and right now, you were both.

‘’What if they do like me, but only because I’m your girlfriend, because liking me means liking you, and they don’t actually like me, but they like you. And what if when I need to perform somewhere, nobody wants to come?’’ You ask, worry shooting out of your eyes as you looked up at your boyfriend.

‘’What if people want to break us apart? Or worse, hate us together? I don’t want people to hate us, I love us, do you love us? You love me, right?’’ Your worried frown was something that broke the Australian’s heart. He saw you were stressed, worried, which made him care about you even more than he could possibly do.

‘’I love you, to pieces, so much, my angel.’’ He whispered, his hands on either side of your face, forcing you to look him in the eyes, those shiny, perfect eyes.

‘’I couldn’t possibly love anyone more than I love you. And please, please know that whatever happened right now, won’t change anything okay? There might be people that hate, they are always there, it’s inevitable. But my star, you, are worth so much more than any hate comment there is on this world, okay? We will get through this. I will come to your shows, just like you came to my races, even if it meant arriving separately and sneaking around in the McLaren motorhome.’’ He said, and he meant every single word of it.

‘’You know what I always say, right?’’ He smiles, rubbing your cold cheeks with his warm hands, creating tingles in your stomach.

You hummed, nodding in response as your eyes closed slowly. He knew you, even better than he knew the Melbourne circuit. He knew exactly what to say and how to calm you, and you couldn’t thank him more for that.

Months later you were stepping into the Abu Dhabi paddock, your hand intertwined with Daniel’s, his warm hand being a perfect fit for yours. A lot of things had changed, you had grown, both as a singer but even more so as an individual and a couple. You were out and public, for everyone to see, and you owned it.

You couldn’t thank that moment enough, because due to that moment, you and Daniel had become even closer than ever, taking the opportunity to do things together, even more so. Starting your own podcast, you dedicating your songs to him and him dedicating his successes to you. It felt like a fairy tale, and it was even better than Snow white or Cinderella.

‘’y/n! Daniel! So wonderful to see you both here.’’ One of the interviewers noticed your appearance and didn’t hesitate twice to come up to you.

‘’Tell us, how are things, we heard you’ve been working on a new album?’’ That question was directed towards you, and Daniel’s smile grew even wider when you started answering the question.

‘’That sounds amazing, do you have a name for the album? Are there songs dedicated to Daniel?’’ The questions you once feared – because the questions weren’t just about you but included Daniel in it as well – were now reality, and you weren’t scared of them anymore. Because you didn’t see it as you versus him, or you versus the world. No, you saw it as you and him versus anything that was going to be put on your path, good or bad. You’d do it together.

‘’There are some songs in there that represent our relationship, yes.’’ You smiled, giving your boyfriends hand a gentle squeeze. ‘’And the name, it’s called ‘butterfly’.’’

‘’That’s a beautiful name, is it based on anything?’’

You smiled at the interviewer, your gaze moving upwards to meet Daniel’s eyes. ‘’Yeah, it is.’’ You smiled. ‘’Because you know… always…’’

‘’Enjoy the butterflies.’’ Daniel finished your sentence, pressing a gentle kiss on your temple as his arm wrapped around you. Yeah, you and him against the world, forever.

Pancakes and Coffee:

You had always been told that dating someone you worked with was a bad idea; that it would make things awkward and complicated in a place that you needed to be able to focus in. But as you sat across from Warrick, easy conversation flowing across the table as he teased you for how much syrup you put on your pancakes and in return you insisted there was no way he actually enjoyed drinking coffee black, no first date had ever felt so easy. So when he asked you if you wanted to see his place before he drove you home, you couldn't say no.

"I wasn't expecting company after an 80 hour week, so apologies if it's a bit of a mess." He held the front door open for you as he rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed as if his home was anything other than spotless. Silver and chrome surfaces glistened like it was just a show home, the only personal touches a few framed photos of what must have been his family, and a surprisingly wide range of books littering his shelves.

"Are you kidding? A professional couldn't make my apartment look this neat!" You laughed, watching Warrick smile at the sound before gesturing to take your coat. You shrugged it off your shoulders, feeling a ripple of anticipation rising in your stomach as his rugged hand just slightly grazed the back of your arm.

"Why don't you take a seat, I'll make us some coffee, with cream I promise!" His joy was infectious as he moved through his small kitchen, seeming far more relaxed in his little home than he ever did in the lab. You watched his shoulders slide down his back as he got comfortable in his natural habitat, trying to settle yourself down as well by picking one side of a grey loveseat that rested against his living room wall.

"I had a lot of fun at breakfast." Warrick said warmly as he settled beside you, setting down two matching mugs on the oak coffee table.

"Me too, it was easily the best first date I can remember going on." You replied honestly, feeling a warmth flush through your cheeks at the confession. He nodded thoughtfully as he turned his broad shoulders to face you, looking deep into your eyes.

"Okay, so it was a date, that's good to know." He chuckled smoothly, leaning forward slowly as he spoke, "because if that was a date, it means I can do this." On the final word his lips met yours, full and soft and plump as you leaned into him, embracing the moment you'd been picturing since your first day at CSI. Your hands found his chest as he groaned at your touch, lips capturing yours more passionately, threatening to never pull away or breathe again. His fingertips brushed over your arm, sending electricity through your body and leaving a trail of goosebumps where he'd been. As his hands found the nape of your neck, he held you tightly, slipping his tongue past your gasping lips and savouring the taste of you with every movement.

One hand held your cheek in place while the other slowly trailed down your spine, the sensitivity arching your back so your chest pressed right against his.

"I've wanted to do this for so long." He sighed out as his lips reluctantly left yours, only to catch the underside of your jaw, beginning their journey on a sloppy trail down your throat that had you nodding in agreement, sighing out his name and earning a very content groan from Warrick in response.

As his hand gradually reached the bottom of your spine, settling on your lower back, your whole body felt alive, forcing you to squirm against your seat as he continued his assault on your neck, knowing if you wore a turtleneck to work next week it would be all because of him. Warrick felt your hands slip around his waist as your hips wriggled against his couch again and, unable to keep you out of his grip any longer, his arm snaked around your lower back pulling you onto his lap, sure it would be a much more fun place to feel you shifting in your seat.

"I think we should spend our day off together more often." He purred with a cocky smile, his tight grip on you letting you know he truly meant it.

Re: My Fanfic & Commissions

I have to come clean gang... I made a big massive stinking fucking oopsie.

Last summer, I took on a 25k word fanfic commission that I still haven't finished because my life exploded on me and just would not stop exploding on me. A masters degree, two dearly missed deceased pets, multiple major medical emergencies, and one move later, I have the space to be a Human Person again with Hobbies, hence my return to tumblr and to fandom spaces.

My thoughts at this time are as follows: I fucked up with this commission. I did not complete it as promised. I am going to finish it by the end of this month. By golly, I fucking will. Not only do I WANT to finish it because I think it slaps, but I owe it to the commissioner to follow the fuck through. And going forward, I don't think I should be taking big commissions again. My health and my life are too unpredictable and it isn't fair to you folks to jerk ya around to the silly little jester tune of my failing corpse.

I considered just saying blanket that I won't be taking commissions at all ever again, but honestly? I'm currently unemployed and disabled. Writing is one of the few skills I've got. So I wanted to solicit yall for your thoughts:

Something else I'm hoping to do within the next week or so here is to go through the backlog of comments on existing fics (about 700 or so since I last checked). Thank you immensely to anyone who has commented on my shit in the past year. While I haven't been in a place to really read your comments without feeling like a fraud in absolutely every way imaginable, each one of them is very important to me and I love you all dearly for leaving them.

To that commissioner last year - I messaged you on Discord with the existing draft - I owe you such a big apology. I hope the eventual product will be at least partially worth the wait!
