any of the warriors of hope because those little buggers have been on my mind for months and they won't leave help
(obvs no sexuality stuff because come on man)
Hi, friend! Any of the Warriors of Hope? How about ... all of them?!
Like-like headcanon: Masaru still thinks liking girls is icky and he's not yet aware that boys can like boys. Jataro believes that cooties are real and the grossest cooties are his own. Kotoko is clearly enthusiastic about girls but will have to really sort some stuff out as she gets older. Nagisa was never the type to think that like-liking someone is gross - he's always wanted to get married. Monaca sees the human heart as just another instrument she can play ... but she'll mellow out if given enough time and care, and then, who knows?
Gender headcanon: Masaru is the boyest boy to ever boy ... which is what I tried to be and look how I turned out lmao. Jataro is cis, but his takes on gender are so galaxy-brained that you wouldn't believe he's not on Tumblr. Kotoko will adopt more androgynous affects over time, exploring cuteness outside of traditional femininity. Nagisa can go on for a long time about his view of his own gender, but if asked to summarize, he'd say he doesn't have one. With little to go on besides my own intuition, I'm surprisingly confident that Monaca is a trans boy.
One ship I have with them: Eh, kinda weird to ship them with anyone since they're little kids. Even Kotoko, who at one point in her boss battle declares that she wants to have children with Monaca, probably doesn't like her as much by the end of UDG. Same with Nagisa, poor guy ... but they've all still got each other.
One BroTP I have with them: Gonna use this section to declare which DR teen they'd get along with (note: I haven't played much of DRS). Masaru would be thrilled by Kazuichi, a neon-haired, shark-toothed, funny-voiced goblin man who builds robots, and Kazuichi would rather embarrassingly treasure the validation from a pretty cool kid. Angie would love love love Jataro, though anyone who knows her will make sure someone else supervises them so that arts-n-crafts playtime doesn't become Baby's Second Cult. I think Sayaka and Kotoko would have a lot that they can talk about together, and I believe she'd do everything she can to nurture and protect the kid. Nekomaru and Akane would be a refreshing pair for Nagisa: they'd focus on training his body rather than his mind, but in a way that's actually healthy and clearly caring. Monaca should probably be kept away from most people for now, but Hajime is uniquely suited to be friendly with her ... so they can wax about Nagito's weirdness together.
One NoTP I have with them: I guess anyone? Since, again, they're little kids?
Random headcanon: When Masaru goes on long walks, he looks for long sticks to carry and will exchange them for even bigger ones he finds along the way. Jataro's reading comprehension is poor, but he can already do basic algebra. Kotoko's never felt safer on a film set than when she played a creepy kid in an R-rated horror movie. Nagisa can take catnaps on command for the same reason soldiers do: they never know when their next chance to catch some sleep could be. Monaca may be the rare person who would become a kinder and gentler human being by joining a school theater program.
General opinion: Suitably creepy in their roles as antagonists to Komaru and Toko, crushingly sympathetic in their motivations, and really fun on their own. The Warriors of Hope are just one reason why I'd urge people to try Ultra Despair Girls, even with all the game's faults (especially the ones related to the WoH themselves). It's incredible that Kotoko can be my favorite for her winning personality despite how tastelessly the writers treat her. Jataro also has one of my favorite character voices in Danganronpa, not referring to the vocal performance (which is great!), but to his almost Dadaist dialogue. Ah, I like 'em all!

On recording together, post-1968...
Q: “Are you thinking about doing any recording in the near future? An album, perhaps?” Peter Tork: “I’d like to. I haven’t got any way of getting started. If you look around, you’ll see that you’re not exactly sitting in the luxurious mansion that someday who went through the money I did would be expected to be living in. As a matter of fact, I’m living pretty close to the bone right now. I’ve got my picture out in the Hollywood circles, and I’m getting some gigs. I’m thinking about doing some commercials. If I ever get enough money together, I’m going to go into the studio and make enough demos to get an album made. I’ve got some new material I’ve written, like ‘Ladies’ [sic] Baby,’ which would make a good album cut. If worse comes to worst, I’ll just make an album myself.” Q: “Have you considered Michael Nesmith’s Pacific Arts label? Your bass and his lead guitar supplemented one another superbly.” PT: “Michael at that time was somewhat of a reticent fellow. He had a hard time giving anything away, in terms of praise. He’s changed a lot. Before the transformation, he was a pretty begrudging fellow. He was not given to compliments. I have not come to know him very well since his transformation. I was thinking about getting him involved. If I have anything to show him, I’ll definitely get it to him. I hope he’s interested.” - Blitz!, May/June 1980
Q: “Being that your tastes were similar, and you both were the first to leave the group, why didn’t you form a group with Peter Tork?” Michael Nesmith: “I don’t like Peter Tork — never have liked him, I don’t like him as a man. I have to qualify that now: Me not liking somebody doesn’t mean that they’re bad people — he could do a lot of wonderful things for and to me. Not liking someone to me is a very gut reaction — a very visceral attitude. The first reaction to Peter was one of dislike. I don’t like him, I have never liked him, and I probably will never like him. I didn’t enjoy playing in a band with Peter, and I still don’t. Our tastes were much the same, our political beliefs were similar, our ideas of fun, pleasure, our intellectual capacity, our ability to talk to each other — we were very much alike. I have a great respect for Peter — his technical abilities on an instrument and the positions he took were well conceived ideas, always a posture with a motive, never emotional. I don’t like my mother. She happens to be a very nice lady — never done anything that would make me not like her — but I don’t. I like my wife.” - Hit Parader, February 1972 [previously posted here]
“It’s Mike and Micky you’ll hear [on backing vocals on ‘Milkshake’]. Thanks, guys, it made my day.” - Peter Tork, Stranger Things Have Happened liner notes
“Well, I have only the vaguest memory of coming close to recording for Michael’s label. I actually believe that nothing whatever was ever done. I’m not even sure I laid down a single track. Your letter reminds me that there was some indication of a potential project, but I think that’s about as far as it went. I have no direct info about Geffen’s dumping Michael’s label. He himself might be a better source. Check out his website, videoranch.com. Thanks for asking. Take care. Peter” - Ask Peter Tork, The Daily Panic, 2008

NEW THEME NEW THEME
also new opla oc?? SPILL -🍂
NEW THEME YES!! I've probably been due for one for a while, honestly, but when I saw Rachel Zegler as Lucy Grey Baird I was just like, yes (😅). Anyway, I'm glad you like it!!
And yes, I would be more than happy to tell you about my new babe! Here goes:
So, for starters, her name is Hayashi Lark and she's a Sanji ship, because I do love that gruff kickass cook. A lark, if you didn't know, is a bird that's pretty well-known for its beautiful song, but also for the fact that they don't sing while in captivity. As you may imagine, there is some symbolism going on with the name here.
Lark has been a singer employed by the World Government since she was very young - her parents were both governors of a relatively large village, and when their daughter began to show serious talent with singing from a very young age, they immediately put her in vocal lessons and lessons for various different instruments, and, when they deemed her trained enough, began to trot her out to sing at public events and at get-togethers with other Government officials. When Lark was nine, her parents both died from a bad fever that had ravaged the whole village, and since she had no other family to take her in, she was given over to the care of the World Government, and several officials remembered her performing at Government dinners and were like, "You know what? Let's turn this little nine-year-old girl into a showpony!".
And so it goes - from the age of nine, Lark is shoved into pretty dresses and shipped all across the several oceans, performing at Marine bases to boost morale. Most of the songs she sings are boring and mainly focused on how brave and just all Marines are, propaganda songs written by the Government itself, but she also writes her own songs, though most of them are much too focused on freedom and rebellion for her to be allowed to sing them onstage. She's also fascinated with pirate songs and sea shanties, the kind Marines would never be allowed to sing; whenever she can escape her handlers, she'll go looking for any place in a given village she thinks might have information on them and writes down whatever lyrics and notes she can find, saving them in a beat-up notebook that she takes with her everywhere. She wants nothing more than to escape the life of borderline captivity that she's been living and learn to play and sing as many pirate songs as she can, and maybe even write some of her own, but for a very long time that feels impossible.
And this, as you may have suspected, is where Luffy and company come in. In between Syrup Village and Baratie, they dock at the village Lark is currently performing in to pick up some extra supplies and stop to see her show in the town square. They're all really taken with her voice and presence onstage, but Luffy, being Luffy, can tell that she doesn't actually want to be doing any of this, and approaches her to offer her a place on the crew, or at least to help her get away from the Government and take her someplace else. Lark immediately accepts the place on the Straw Hats - after all, what better way to learn more pirate songs that to be on an actual pirate crew? - and with some moderate difficulty, they manage to collect the few belongings Lark wants to take with her, including her notebook and guitar, and escape on the Straw Hats' ship.
Now, when they get to Baratie and Luffy winds up being taken as a chore boy, Lark offers to pay off their dinner debt by doing a show at the restaurant. Zeff doesn't want a singer in his place, but agrees to let Lark sing one song in exchange for a month off of Luffy's sentence. Lark sings one of the only pirate songs she knows in full, actually managing to quiet the whole restaurant full of rowdy pirates with her voice, and Sanji takes one look at her while she's singing and goes, Oh, I'm in love. And though finding the All Blue is still Sanji's dream and main motivation, he will admit that some part of the reason he left Baratie with the crew was wanting to get to know Lark better.
Aaaand that's about all I have for her so far!! It might be a bit before I have a proper intro post for her, but if anyone wants to ask me more questions in the meantime, feel free!!

Rock Sound, 2005 - Interview with Till and Schneider
Anyone who’s witnessed Rammstein’s pyrotastic live show will know they aren’t a band to do things by halves. So maybe rock sound shouldn’t be surprised by the surreal trail of events that unfolds during the press day for new album ‘Rosenrot’. Arriving in Paris with some vague instructions to head to the Place de la Bastille and find a double-decker bus, it all fells worryingly like the plot from a bad James Bond film. Luckily, any fears about being unable to follow such a cryptic lead are calmed on spotting a bright red London bus which, in case it wasn’t given away by its conspicuous geographical location, is helpfully plastered with Rammstein album artwork. Today the bus will were a dual purpose; both transporting us to a top secret interview site and acting as a pretty ingenious promotional tool, as we drive through the city past several turned heads and dropped jaws.
Onboard, journalists from various European countries are initiated into an album listening session that’s shrouded in MI5-style secrecy. After signing a contract, each writer receives a sealed and numbered personal CD player containing a preview version of ‘Rosenrot’. Suffice to say, those who dare to break the seal and peek inside do so on pain of death. Well, probably. And it doesn’t end there.
Arriving at the interview venue — a boat moored on the bank of the River Seine — it seems Rammstein are intent on having us experience as many branches of the Parisian transport system as possible. It all ensures that the press are suitably bewildered, as well as just a little excited, when the time arrives to interview bands members Till Lindemann and Christoph Schneider. Really, you wouldn’t think it could get much weirder. But it does.
Both Lindemann and Schneider appear oddly indifferent to the day’s set-up, as if they’re old hands at sending journalists into a state of confusion before meeting them. Not that frontman Till really needs to try; he’s already knocked us hacks for six by granting several rare interviews this afternoon, and in person he looks every bit as imposing as his on stage characters. Thankfully though, he’s infinitely more good-humoured, and a listen to ‘Rosenrot’ reveals his increasing skill in channelling that quality into the songs.
The band’s fifth studio album continues to develop several of the themes from ‘Reise, Reise’ — namely the exchange of strict marching rhythms for dynamic rock riffs (‘Rosenrot’, ‘Zerstören’), and a new-fund affinity for ballads (‘Feuer & Wasser, ‘Ein Lied’). Yet it also comes with a few major surprises, most noticeably ‘a party anthem about driving into a brothel’, titled ‘Te Quiero Puta’. As if diverting from their trademark sound with cartoon noises and mariachi instrumentation in this effort weren’t enough, the biggest shock comes from Till, who switches his usually foreboding vocals into Spanish to hilarious effect.
Schneider picks up the story: « Till could never find good lyrics for that song, » he recalls. « It was a bit sad because we always liked it very much music-wise. Then he came up with this Spanish, which I absolutely didn’t like, especially with all the trumpets. But sometimes you have to get used to ideas that you don’t find so cool, because they might have a little potential. »
Consequently, ‘Te Quiero Puta’ is one of the best songs Rammstein have written, not just because it shatters every preconception they’ve built up with previous albums, but also because it’s executed so well. Maybe that’s down to the fact that when Rammstein go off on a creative tangent, they aren’t driven by a need for attention, but by genuine curiosity. Indeed, while ‘Te Quiero Puta’ was inspired by a love of Spanish culture that Till developed while exploring Costa Rica, ‘Mann gegen Mann’ was born from an equally eye-opening experience.
The singer explains: « That’s a pro-homosexual song. It’s based on an experience I had when we went out in Berlin with another band that had two gay members. We went to a gay bard and I was just impressed by how fast they made contact with other men, how there was little bit of communication and then they went home together. I thought it was quite enviable, especially when you compare it to what happens between a man and a woman and all the ritualistic behavior. They just had a one-night stand and nothing more. I thought there was something poetic about that. »
There’s nothing all that unusual about Rammstein dealing in potentially controversial subject matter, as the gory inspiration for ‘Mein teil’ showed. Even so, it’s hard to escape the impression that ‘Rosenrot’ is their most experimental album to date.
According to the band, that probably has something to do with they way in which it came together. The release of ‘Rosenrot’ comes just a year after ‘Reise, Reise’, meaning a significant change to their normal working cycle.
« We’ve never released another album so quickly," says Till. « Usually there’s the album release in summer or early autumn, then we tour through autumn, winter and spring and then go into working on the next release in the autumn. But after making ‘Reise, Reise’ we had four songs left which hadn’t fitted in with the rest of the album. So we decided then that we would make another CD straight after ‘Reise, Reise’ so that we could use them. »
Although they could have released the songs as an EP, there was another obstacle to overcome. During the making of ‘Reise, Reise’, Rammstein decided they would take a six-month « creative break » when they eventually came off the road in 2005. That meant either leaving fans with a long wait before another album arrived, or working incredibly hard to extend those four songs into a full release before disappearing. With Schneider stressing that the leftover tracks were « good songs, not just B-sides », they took the latter option and began work on ‘Rosenrot’ under what he describes as « a lot of pressure due to the time constraints ».
But with both ‘Te Quiero Puta’ and ‘Mann gegen Mann’ among the new songs penned in that period, it was evidently also a positive time creatively.
« The songs are from two different periods so I think that makes the album a bit outstanding, » comments Schneider. « It’s not like the last two Rammstein albums, but it’s a good album. »
It turned out so well, in fact, that they changed their original plan to call it ‘Reise, Reise Vol. 2’ and graced it with its own title. That title continues their fascination with dark fairytales, echoing both an old story by the Brothers Grimm and a story that Till recalls about « a girl who sees a red flower on the mountainside and tells her lover. He tries to get it for her but he dies ». Nonetheless, the album as a whole also marks the end of an era for Rammstein.
« For me, this is the closing of a chapter for the band, » says Schneider. « Everybody needs a break, they need a bit of distance from this band and time to look forward and ask, ‘Where am I?’ And, ‘What do I want to do?’ We need to find other ways of being inspired. »
Consequently, there will be no tour to support the release of ‘Rosenrot’, as the sextet head their separate ways to recharge and reflect. After more than 10 years of following the same work schedule, the members of Rammstein are looking forward to spending time with family, travelling, and having the chance to recover from an exhausting promotional itinerary. They initially discovered the benefits of taking time out while making ‘Reise, Reise’ — when tensions carried over from previous album ‘Matter’ came to a head and forced them to put work on hold. As Schneider states, it’s vital to the « balance of democracy » within the band that they get away from each other now and again.
However, with this personal time now coming at the expense of a new live spectacular, are they concerned that ‘Rosenrot’ won’t get the exposure it deserves?
« Maybe that will affect something, » allows the drummer. « But we’ve been on tour for almost a year now and we’re tired. Of course our live show is a big part of our promotion, but what can you do? You can’t keep on at the same pace, running and running like a hamster on a wheel. »
A much-needed holiday? The end of an era? You might wonder if ‘Rosenrot’ is shaping up to be Rammstein’s parting shot…
« I have a good feeling, » begins Schneider. « I think Rammstein has the potential to continue. But after 11 or so years you have to be careful. It’s easy to over-do it, for it to get boring and for you not to reach your potential anymore. We’ll see. If it doesn’t happen anymore I’ll do something else. »
Thankfully, Till is more assured about future plans, insisting Rammstein will start work on another album and tour after their break. What’s more, the excited singer suggests we can expect an even greater visual extravaganza on their return — if he gets his way.
« Personally, I’d just sing two songs and then have two hours of pyro! » he laughs.
There’s no doubt it’ll be worth the wait.

For Nora:
What are your character’s three most prominent features?
If your character had the opportunity, would they choose ripped or regular jeans?
When choosing their clothes, does your character base their decision on look, feel, or both?
For Trystan:
Which feature are they most insecure about?
Your character has nothing to do today; they’re staying at home and nobody super important is going to see them. How are they dressed?
Do they enjoy changing the style and color often, or will they wear it the same way their whole lives given the chance?
Thank you for the ask Tif!
For Nora:
What are your character’s three most prominent features?
Nora's three most prominent features are her hair, her hands and her facial shape (?). Her hair is literally the worst/best thing known to existence. It's messy on good days and good on bad days. It cannot be constrained and yet falls flat. Probably the first thing people notice about her. Then her face shape (? I hope that's the correct terminology lmao). It's pretty circular - like the picture-perfect circular shape you could draw. Finally, her hands - they're a lot more pronounced, rough but sculpted enough she could get into hand modelling or be able to play an instrument.
If your character had the opportunity, would they choose ripped or regular jeans?
Regular jeans. Nora cannot understand ripped jeans and knows it isn't for her anyway. Plus, she wears denim trousers literally all the time and doesn't like it if it comes with any novelty in the slightest (mostly because she prefers keeping her trousers monochrome and pattern-less). She'd rather have ripped jean jackets than ripped jeans.
When choosing their clothes, does your character base their decision on look, feel, or both?
Feel over looks anyday but ofc, Nora prioritizes both but she really thinks of the "use" more than the "look". For trousers, she prefers if it has larger pockets. She keeps her outfits simple - best to blend in with the crowd while she's on a job/off the job. She believes if she finds more than one use for an item of clothing, she's bound to use it more often and like it, instead of judging by looks alone (or any one parameter) and knowing it might only ever pair well with one other clothing and isn't that versatile in nature. So something that she can use often, she can put to good use as well, isn't a "seasonal" thing and pairs up with the rest of her wardrobe.
For Trystan:
Which feature are they most insecure about?
I'd like to think Trystan is a little bit insecure about his voice. He has an impressive vocal range no doubt, but sometimes he gets a little sick of the same old mid-baritone and doesn't like listening to clips of his own voice. Part of the reason why he sends voice messages but never listens it to them, because he thinks they sound raspy.
In his first 3-4 years in New York, he made a lot of friends, even casually dated people in the singing/songwriting or just people whose voice was somewhat crucial to their profession in practice. He'd hang around in libraries - authors hosting book readings, bars with bands performing, parks and so on in his spare time and overtime kind of developed those intense feelings to rectify his voice - make it sound either more interesting or just less of him. He can't really pinpoint the problem he has with his voice, but he knew he just didn't like it when he'd deliver those elaborate speeches at gatherings.
He's gotten a little better at dealing with it - part of the reason why Nora's willing to get dragged to go to karaoke, but that lingering sense of "ickiness" still sticks to him sometimes.
Your character has nothing to do today; they’re staying at home and nobody super important is going to see them. How are they dressed?
Answered here!
Do they enjoy changing the style and color often, or will they wear it the same way their whole lives given the chance?
Trystan loves a good change, but more so the transition into a good change. Like you can't expect him to switch over to a certain type of clothing immediately. It kind of slowly creeps up into his wardrobe and suddenly he's just all about it.
It takes him a while to "change" into a new style of clothing, but he's very adaptable in terms of colours. He doesn't shy away from designs and at the same time, will also wear monotones and rather focused on how he can style it and make it more of "his own" than the colours, patterns or any particulars themselves.

what do you consider to be the best metal albums of all time? or your favs!
this ask has terrorized me all morning. thank you, and i mean this from the bottom of my heart, for sending it to me so i can talk about metal.
I am going to separate this into best, as in the classics i think hold up the best/are the most complete, and then my favorites (obv there is overlap but i'll ignore it).
Top 5 "Best" Metal Albums- the records you find on retrospectives and blog lists:
Black Sabbath- Black Sabbath. Not only a historic achievement of an album (the definitive point in which metal, for sure, existed) but also, i truly belive the best Sabbath record. The opening track itself is good enough everything else could be joke covers of the beach boys and I'd still put it here (they're also very good though. GOD. the wizard slaps)
Master of Puppets- Metallica. I know. I know. It's just solid all the way through, not a bad track, incredible opener and fantastic instrumental, everyone's said it all.
South of Heaven- Slayer. Again, undeniable. The Slayer record with the most literal heft and, well the closest thing to maturity the asshats of Slayer can achieve. The speed and ferocity of Reigh In Blood is still very good but over in a blink of an eye, while Heaven gives you more to be pummeled by. different kinds of anger.
Don't Break the Oath- Mercyful Fate. One of those true, blue perfect records, while also being beautifully cheesy. Like if a campy 80s movie about naked sacrifices to Satan was... really good with gorgeous cinematography. edges out Melissa by the narrowest margins (production is more suited for their style, giving the guitars an edge and putting the vocals front and center)
Live After Death- Iron Maiden. I love Maiden so much but their albums always have one or two duds. even if they didn't, though, live after death would probably smoke them anyway- it's that good. getting to hear phantom of the opera in dickenson's voice... i like di'anno but that song deserved Theatre
I love all of these records, many of them are what got me into metal so if you are looking for a high-qualiy place to start...
But I'll put my favorites under a read more lmao
These I would consider my top ten favorite albums at this given moment:
Stained Class- Judas Priest (the best priest. to me. i got my pentagram stomach tat on her 45th anniversary <3)
Thundersteel- Riot (rock city might edge this one out but that records barely metal at all. THIS is the pinnacle if power metal- in the old school uspm speedy way. incredible vocals, ripping speed, and its good from start to end)
Rock Goddess- Rock Goddess (something about this record....standard nwobhm fair but there's a surprising variety in the songs emotional center- it's all love and sex but it encapsulates a lot more humanity than most- different kinds of passion, heartbreak, desperation. and it ROCKS)
Operation: Mindcrime- Queensryche (greatest of all time. thee concept album. nothing else to say)
Black Metal- Venom (venom, if you catch me on the right day, is probably my favorite band. i love first wave black metal- it sounds like shit, it's lost all the edge in the intervening years, and yet. and fucking yet. they threw together something special.)
Behind the Realms of Madness- Sacrilege (crusty thrashy goodness. i love everything sacrilege has done, including their doomier late career, but the energy on this is wild. beat out detente on this list so if you like them, youll like sacrilege)
Feel the Fire- Overkill (overkill, by the band overkill, is the best thrash song of all time. well. maybe not but it's fucking undeniable. this overkill has the best energy of any of their albums, even if the others are more well-known)
Darkness Decends- Dark Angel (metal that sounds like shit eats punk that sounds like shit for breakfast)
The Blueprints for Madness- Deceased... (one of my favorite old school death metal records, mostly for the strange grind touches. it could be shorter but damn.)
All Creatures Great and Eaten- Nuclear Death (stands toe-to-toe with mindcrime at the top of my list. strange and depraved in the best possible way. lori bravo is the best to ever do it)
Dommedagsnatt- Thorr's Hammer (im just so enamored with this one- def the record here I've spent the most time on. death/doom done so right)
Sagrada Tierra Del Jaguar- Yaotl Mictlan (the black metal/folk thing usually sucks bc the people making it are white pagan nazis and shit. but, globally, there's been some very cool indigenous bands who have incorporated precolonial music traditions in their black metal as a result. yaotl mictlan, a band with prehispanic themes and instrumentation, is prob my favorite of these bands, easily.)
Glory, Glory! Apathy Took Helm!- Vile Creature (idk why this made me cry but any doom/sludge capable of that deserves a spot on my favorites)
Some new bands that could grow onto this list: Smoulder, Messa, Blood Star, SONJA, Negative Plane, Dilly Dally (rip to the queens), and Melissa!
Anyway! Hopefully this ask gives you, anon, (or anyone for that matter) something new to enjoy :))

ok guys i'm trying to put the playlist songs in order, here's the tentative order + reasons, lmk what you think!!
(major major spoilers for webtoon readers about the rounds that Tesilid went through before reuniting with Ailette)
(playlist link)
The concept I'm taking w this playlist is for it to mostly follow Tesilid's chronological POV, not Ailette/the reader's.
1. It's You: Pre-regression Tesilid, about Ailette. (tbh i think it also works near the end once the '17th' loop starts, but it lowkey feels a little too cheerful for Tesilid's POV at that point in time?)
I also kind of feel like there needs to be at least one song before It's You, for Tesilid before he first meets Ailette. But it needs to have super specific vibes??? Like, less depressing compared to the later ones, and more petulant and complain-y. The "why am I the only one with these duties..." and being too shy to accept food kind of vibes, the Tesilid doesn't have depression yet kind of vibes. but idk rn I can only think of angsty songs bc [spoiler] grabbed my whole brain.
2. Tell Me: idk i'm putting this song here just according to the vibes. It doesn't feel depressing enough to be late-regression Tesilid.
3. Theatre: Round 85-99 Tesilid (when he manages to save the world) or maybe even slightly before. He wishes he can just be himself and pleads with god, he just wants to stop acting his role. But he hasn't completely given up hope. He is still waiting for 'that someone out there' to hear his voice. The song feels like a cry of help and an expression of what he desperately wants, rather than a requiem or mourning of his old self and dreams. (tbh this can also work for current timeline Tesilid? for when he starts to see hope or a path forward again. This song is a little Too Tesilid it feels like it can fit most points of his very long life)
4. Show Me What I'm Looking For: Round 99 Tesilid, when he visits the Bible of Truth. "Ailette, I'm here... but where are you?" "Show me what i'm looking for" and he gets the truth of the world and. hahaha. he acts accordingly.
5. I am the Strongest: Reed. I used the instrumental instead of the lyric cover in the playlist bc i... don't really like the vocals and i can't find a cover of that cover... sorry. the lyrics really slap and fit perfectly though, 100% recommend going through it too.
Songs 3-5 (Theatre - I am the strongest) need to go in this specific order for maximum impact. It's the expression of what he actually wants > please just throw me a rope, i'll pay any cost, save me from being confused; show me a path and i'll follow it > ok i was shown one (1) path, time to destroy the world so i can no longer be hurt
6. Lower One's Eyes: i'm trusting vnikat on this being reed x Ailette for reasons that are spoilers to me as well. Chronogically it goes here because Ailette exists.
7. Flos: Current timeline Tesilid. Melancholic and tired and defeated and reminiscing about his old hopes and dreams and wondering if he can still have them. (I considered putting it at the front, pre-Theatre, but idk i feel like that pre-85 Tesilid wouldn't be this downtrodden and defeated because he was still diligently working towards what he thought was salvation)
8. 1/6 -out of gravity-: Ailette re-entering the scene and being super ready to do everything she can to relieve Tesilid's pain and burden by even just a little. I think this song really matches the tone of the first 2 seasons of the webtoon.
9. Endless Struggle: Tesilid feeling like he's sinned and that he doesn't deserve kindness, but he's doing his best to repent and become stronger
I think 1/6 out of gravity and Endless Struggle need to go as a pair. It's the juxtaposition of cute anime girl trying to cheer you up followed immediately by the emotional fallout of [spoiler]. I think the tonal change really replicates what we readers feel hahahahaha 🤗🥲
The rest of the songs are, i think, mostly just wishful thinking about what we hope/think the rest of the series might have. The tonal shifts here are more abrupt because they're kind of disjointed guesses.
10. I want to become your god: Not too sure about its inclusion. Saviour complex things. But the lyrics sound a little too hopeless & powerless to fit either Ailette or Tesilid's vibes at the current point of the webnovel translation. Ailette is powerful enough that she has a reasonable chance of saving the world and Tesilid. On the other hand, Tesilid kind of doesn't really care about saving anyone at this point, and I feel like even back when he did, it wasn't really out of a desperate need for self-validation like in this song. But I think this song definitely goes after 1/6 -> Endless Struggle! For maximum devastation.
11. Jiwa yang bersedih: Us coping and hoping that Tesilid will get to hear these words and internalise them lol. Putting this after I want to become your god, because I think even if Ailette can't completely undo all the pain that Tesilid has gone through, she can still soothe his pain in a way that few others can give him. and also eventually solve the whole godless world problem.
12. To Be Me: I'm just coping with the inclusion of this song. I just hope that Tesilid reaches a point where he starts to forgive himself and starts to live because even if it hurts, he genuinely believes that there's light at the end of the tunnel and that he can finally breathe and live as himself and discover himself so long as he keeps actively choosing to live. Anyway the lyrics for this song are beautiful and I think you guys should also listen to it even as a not-Tesilid song. Lines like "going forward, going forward, going forward but going back again" read completely different and hit really hard when it's about someone with a normal mortal lifespan and not a regressor doing introspection lol.
tldr; Feels like there's a missing song for pre-regression Tesilid's frustrations
i'll probably create another post for the final order to be put on my pinned post, and which is spoiler free so that any webtoon reader that comes across my blog or playlist can read it too

Neo-soloists
The difference among the soloists we have so far.
Ten
Ten is a dancer and a performer first and foremost. "Look at me" type. He learnt how to sing to be able to be a solo artist, however, vocals are still secondary (for now?). Putting on a show is first. Thus Ten goes for public friendly, pleasant dance songs. It's fun for him to play a villain, a lover. The stage and being admired are the goals.
Taeyong
Taeyong is a classic "tortured artist". He works through his emotional issues with the help of different mediums and ways of self expression. He wants to be loved by fans, but it's more important to be accepted for who he is (and accept himself). Eventhough he agrees that quirky "Shalala" or "Tap" are better for promotion, he still wants to showcase to the public more serious and melancholic songs, sing about topics that concern him most at the given stage of life. He expressed his anger with "Yestoday", when he "fought off his sharks" it was "Long flight"'s turn, now it's the frustration from showbusiness (Ape) and the longing for freedom and travel, time alone with loved people (Moon tour). Taeyong isn't a good vocalist, and yet he longs to sing as rapping is not enough for self-expression. He took vocal lessons, btw.
Doyoung
Doyoung says singing is "light", that singing helps him to live and move forward. Everything he is doing as an idol is to secure a long-lasting career as a singer, and to sing what he wants to as many people as possible. He is a secretive person, but he is sincere as a vocalist. He has a positive message to spread. I do not believe he will reflect himself fully in his songs though. He has a negative view on many things, the world. His goal is to achieve healing, show support (to himself and his fans) through songs. There is no place for mulling over his true dark feelings and thoughts. He thought "long and hard" how to present himself, and chose "me as a young person". It's a wrapping, of sorts. As he is a producer, he uses his own experience and gained wisdom, however, it will be a story, a tale still. A book with beautiful words.
Jaehyun
Jaehyun was a shy kid in middle school, who had problems integrating with the new class. Performing on stage felt fun and rewarding for him. Music is what he likes (he listens to it non-stop), what brings him comfort, fills in his inner world. All the covers and his solos he sang so far were mellow love songs. And I don't expect any change with his upcoming album (seeing how SM allows neos to choose their own vision, and doesn't create a sellable image for them from zero). He is a romantic, and he loves to live through feelings and emotions. What else is there in his inner world, afterall. So yeah, even if Jaehyun is going to sing about travelling and exploring the world, growing as a person, a love reference should be there (like with "Horizon").
Mark
Mark is figuring out who he is, he experiments a lot. We don't know when he will release a solo album, but, most probably, he won't find his final sound by then yet. Mark is ambitious and bold though, although indecisive, likes having his way. His album should be very fresh, full of ideas. Probably with many features and collaborations. Mark wanted to be a writer, he is a sertified experienced songwriter by now.
Taeil
I think he said he wants to sing pleasant and comfortable songs? He is proud of his voice and he plays instruments. I'd expect a song or two that he will be able to play on the piano himself on concerts.

Weekly Update March 29, 2024
I’m pretty volatile in terms of mood, but I did get a good amount of actual work done on projects. I’m exhausted, I haven’t fixed my sleep schedule yet because I’m addicted to working. Like I’ve genuinely tried to stop and go to be early or sleep in and I just always ‘just one more drawing, just one more verse, just one more thumbnail, it’s let me find this one perfect instrument, just let me finish these four bars, just let me-‘ and before you know it it’s two hours past bedtime and you haven’t even brushed your teeth yet. Or eaten dinner. On the bright side all the stuff I’ve done has gone pretty well!
First big exciting point, that little pitch comic I’ve been working on? Thumbnailing/writing is done. Done enough anyway. I might still go back to edit some pages but I can get going on others now, which is great because even though I’ll only post the full thing once I have the whole comic complete, I might post individual panels, so there will be stuff to see! I’m also going to try to keep writing at night, so I can let other episodes and stories play out a bit, but Art priority will be shifting more to the comic. It will be 30 pages so it will likely take a while, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to do 3 or so panels a week while I’m finishing up this semester and switch to a page a day once I have more time.
Music is also going very well. I’m putting the final mixing touches on a vocaloid cover song (unless I decide to go back and redo the guitar, which I might), which I’ll try to start putting visuals to soon, although that’ll likely be pretty slow since I finally got past the thing that was bottlenecking me on the comic project. I’ll also have to get licensing settled, although that currently looks to be affordable. The whole project has given me a taste for blood and now I want to do a bunch of other cover stuff, but good news: I also found a nearly finished cover of another song that I had put aside in favor of the Green Day one. That’ll probably take a while before I can call it ‘done’, though, whereas I could probably release the first cover song today if I really wanted. I have some time tonight where I’ll try to throw some music together, maybe I’ll work on that.
There’s a few smaller nearly-finished songs I dug up from the depths of my WIPs too, one I need to redo a melody line, one I was bottlenecked on finding a specific instrument for, which I did the other day in lab, and a few others that also either need structure or Melodies. Plus there’s those two that are waiting on lyrics still but I’m still chugging at that, just slowly. I might also try that one tonight too, if I finish or can’t do the vocal cover for whatever reason. There’s also a couple character themes that haven’t really been priorities but I did re-outline one that I’ve been working on, so once I have recording time I can go try that one. That one is on its third draft so I really hope this one will stick.
Other miscellaneous projects haven’t seen much progress this week. I’m still thinking things through for that epithet TTRPG campaign, but I’m having a bit of trouble outlining the third chapter. I just need more brain power for that though, so earlier bedtimes would do it. A couple other art things keep coming to mind but I’ve been focusing more on big projects, so that’ll probably continue if I can. This next week I want to focus on keeping my body as healthy as I can, and then comic, second cover song, and visuals for first cover song, in that order of priority. Passive projects I can work on while doing other activities will be epithet TTRPG planning, song lyrics, and outlining future comic stuff, in that order of priority. If I come up with any song Melodies or ideas for visuals for the song I’m finishing up those priorities might shift, but right now I want to stick to more of a plan, since it worked out well this week.

Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) Reflections
Dear Reader,
My thoughts are all over the place. Taylor penned it best, this is a compilation of growing up, heartbreak, apologies, painful realizations, and speaking up. She took the words from my mouth when she said she had a lump in her throat, this is exactly what I feel right now, and how I always feel whenever I try to explain to anyone what this album means to me. I grew up with it, it was my security blanket and helped me in my loneliest nights. I think about who I was at 17 and who I am today, at 30 years old and I do not think I would recognize myself. To have this album and get to hear it in her mature voice had me sobbing the entire time. I had moments of respite but I spent about two hours crying thru the beauty of this re-record. I am so proud to now have Taylor’s version. I am not saying this just to say it, tonight’s release is her best one to date. In terms of production, her vocals, and how she captured the essence of each song 13 years later. Her six new songs are everything I expected them to be, magic ✨. It truly is ours now! So now if you care what I think about each song, and my favorite lyric, as I listen to each one for a second time - keep reading.
Mine - So I never imagined I’d cry to this song. I heard the first chord and was a given, then I hear her vocals! I am a Speak Now connoisseur, but even if you are not, you can already hear the difference in production from the OG version. Her mature voice. With these songs!
“You made a rebel out of a careless man’s careful daughter.”
“And I remember that fight, 2:30 am. . . I ran out crying and you followed me out onto the street.”
Sparks Fly - When I think of love, falling into it, or even before that, I always think about this song. I always think about the guy I dedicated this song to in 2011. And I smile. Because this song said it all.
“Kiss me on the sidewalk. Take away the pain. Cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile.”
“I’m on my guard for the rest of the world but with you I know it’s no good.”
Back to December - Her voice! Oh my god!
Ever broken up with anyone? Ever realized minutes, days, months, or even years later that you wish you could go back and take it back? The words you said. The hurt you gave. Wish you hadn’t left? Wish you could apologize? Then, I have the song for you.
I remember listening to this in December of 2010. I remember what I would wear. I remember the bite of the air. It still feels the same.
The instruments! They sound incredible. The violin!
“You gave me all your love and all I gave you was goodbye.”
“Maybe this is wishful thinking, maybe mindless dreaming.”
“So if the chain is on your door, I understand.”
Speak Now - She still sounds so beautiful! This is such a campy song and I love it so much.
“I am not the kind of girl who should be rudely barging in on a white veil occasion.”
“Horrified looks from everyone in the room but I’m only looking at you.”
Dear John - THE GUITAR. HOLY SHIT. OH IT SOUNDS DIFFERENT BUT THE SAME. THE PRODUCTION. HER VOICE!!! Oh my god. Oh my god. Her vocals are incredible. Oh my god.
“I lived in your chess game but you changed the rules every day.”
“Don’t you think I was too young to be messed with. The girl in the dress cried the whole way home.”
Mean - THE BANJO! I dedicate this to any and all assholes who have anything to say about people just to be mean and to those who love to talk about women and what they can and cannot do. I dedicate this to any jerk who likes to degrade women. I think men should Speak Never✨ when it involves women.
“Someday I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me and all you’re ever gonna be is mean. And a liar. And pathetic. And alone in life. And mean.”
The Story of Us - Oh that electric guitar (is that a bass?) is so prominent in this version. I love it! Entering my punk era. Excuse me while I find fishnet fingerless gloves and wear all black! Oh it’s still a masterpiece but better!
“So many walls up I can’t break through.”
“Is it killing you like it’s killing me?”
“Next chapter!”
Never Grow Up - One second in and I’m crying. Nope. I can’t even sing it. I’m crying. No I’m sobbing. Nope. Nope. Nope. Sofia this one is for you my angel, it always has been and always will be. I promise no one will ever break your heart. Please try to never grow up. . .
Oh it’s hitting me, grown up Taylor singing Never Grow Up. Here I sit in my living room, grown up, calling my own shots.
“Your little hands wrapped around my finger.”
“Nothing’s left you scarred.”
“So here I am in my new apartment. In a big city. They just dropped me off. I tuck myself in and turn my nightlight on.”
“Wish I’d never grown up. I could still be little.”
Enchanted - Oh here we go. Here comes my song. Here comes the song that changed everything. Oh her voice. The production is so much more ethereal if that is even possible!
“Your eyes whispered, ‘Have we met?’”
“Passing notes in secrecy.”
“I’m wonderstruck, blushing all the way home.”
“I was enchanted to meet you.”
“I wondered till I was wide awake.”
Better Than Revenge - PAUSE. Ok let me take a breath. Done. Oh such a cool song. So I suspected she would change a lyric. Which made this song - excuse my language, actually no don’t excuse my language - this specific lyric made it a cunty song, and I mean that in the most complimentary manner. The line in OG version “She’s better known for the things she does on the mattress. Woah.” It was a fuck-you to feminism and we were ALL fine with it. Because you are allowed to be angry and allowed to say hey you wronged me, fuck off, fuck you. It’s changed now to “He was a moth to the flame, she was holding the matches.” Like Taylor said, we say what we want when it feels right and if this rewrite was her choice I respect it. But the former was such an iconic line and will remain in my heart forever.
“No amount of vintage dresses give you dignity.”
“There is nothing I do better than revenge.”
Innocent - When I was 18, I’d listen to this on repeat. There was a kindness in this song I never afforded for myself. I still have it on repeat to this day. And I still relate to it. It is the one song I can’t talk about aloud. It is so raw. It is probably my second-favorite song in her entire discography, but on a bad day, it’s my absolute favorite. I got my new September. . .
Her voice, my god this sounds so beautiful, still. Better.
“Who you are is not where you’ve been. You’re still an innocent.”
“Did some things you can’t speak of, but at night you live it all again.”
“Life is a tough crowd, 32 and still growing up now.”
“Time turns flames to embers, you’ll have new Septembers.”
Haunted - THE FUCKING PRODUCTION. I need this song injected into my body. Do I hear background vocals? OH MY GOD!!! Her voice is also the background vocals!
“You and I walk a fragile line.”
“I thought I had you figured out.”
Last Kiss - OH OH OH OH I hear the difference. I can’t pinpoint the instrument but I love it. I have always said this is one of her saddest songs. I remember I’d be on the floor, in a fetal position, in tears listening to this, trying to make sense of my broken heart. God the production is beautiful!
“That July 9th. The beat of your heart.”
“I don’t know how to be something you’d miss.”
Long Live - Sobbing uncontrollably again. Crying. I can’t even sing it right now. She wrote this for us! She truly wrote it for all of us. I always felt this song should replace Pomp and Circumstance.
“How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you.”
“May these memories break our fall.”
“Promise me this, that you’ll stand by me forever, but if God forbid fate should step in, and force us into a goodbye, if you have children someday, when they point to the pictures, please tell them my name. Tell them how the crowds went wild. Tell them how I hope they shine!”
“Long live the walls we crashed thru I had the time fighting dragons with you!”
Ours - The sweetest song I ever heard. I hear it and am transported to falling in love for the very first time. What it felt like having to defend it, how people judge things that are not theirs to speculate.
“The stakes are high. The water’s rough. But this love is ours.”
“If you were here we’d laugh about their vacant stares but right now my time is theirs.”
“Seems like there’s always someone who disapproves.”
“Your hands are tough but they’re where mine belong in.”
Superman - I cannot believe she wrote this about J*hn Mayer. It’s such a good song though.
“Just fine.”
✨Time for the SIX NEW VAULT TRACKS!!!
Electric Touch - HOLY SHIT. It’s good. It’s really good. Of course it’s good. Be still my hopeless-romantic-young love-heart. I have to write a movie about this. Think 2000s teen movie. Guy gets the girl. I forgot about FALL OUT BOY! OH MY GOD! Patrick sounds incredible.
“This could either break my heart or bring it back to life.”
When Emma Falls In Love - Oh so Taylor decided to write a song about me? I feel seen.
“The boy will never be the same.”
“Like if Cleopatra grew up in a small town.”
I Can See You - This is such a sexy song. Oh so the hormones were rampant with this song. She was in heat. And I LOVE every damn second of this. Add it to False God, add it to Dress. I better stop. I have too many thoughts and none are suitable for public viewing. This song will now be on repeat for the foreseeable future. Adding this to my delusional stripper playlist. Oh I love this song. I’ve heard it like fifteen times now. The music video is her best one yet! Taylor Lautner backflipping on The Eras tour and starring in the music video???Yeah he’s the best ex-bf turned amazing friend ever! I mean hello she wrote Back to December about him. Back to this. This song is exactly what it feels like to want someone so much you can’t think and for it to be on the precipice of something so addicting. You’d do anything for it.
“What would you do if I went to touch you?”
“I can see you up against the wall with me.”
“Then we kissed and you know I won’t ever tell, yeah. And I could see you being my addiction. You can see me as a secret mission.”
Castles Crumbling - Yeah so I’m crying again. This is beyond sad. Taylor really thought we turned our backs on her. I’m going to jump off a bridge. Goodbye. Oh her voice breaking, no, this is killing me. Hayley!!! As in Paramore Hayley. Masterpiece!
“You don’t want to know me now.”
“They tore me apart.”
“I watched all my bridges burn to the ground.”
“Never wanted you to hate me.”
Foolish One - Country Taylor. I love you! This is so cute! Oh so she also wrote this for the hopeless romantics. The guitar!
“Wishful thoughts.”
“But then the voices say, "You are not the exception. You will never learn your lesson."
“Stop checking your mailbox for confessions of love they ain’t never gonna come.”
Timeless - My absolute favorite song right now. Oh so let me sob again. Oh it’s beautiful. This is a song for the girls who got their degrees in History aka ME! I’m sorry if you hate this song, you’re not an intellectual. Nor hot. I don’t make the rules. Sorry.
In all seriousness, this is such a pretty song. Just shows our feelings are timeless.
“In those photos I saw us instead.”
“I believe we were supposed to find this.”
“The story started when you said hello.”
“Sometimes you just know.”
“Antique shop, something in my mind said stop.”
Final thoughts for now, this is her best re-record to date and quite honestly it blows every album out of the water. To get to hear this with fresh eyes, in a much healthier space, all grown up (sort of), at another pivotal moment of my life, I feel lucky. It was worth the long wait. I leave feeling like I made the right choice, making this album and it’s message my entire belief system. The production somehow enhanced each song and gave it a maturity we all did not know it needed. As someone who knows this album and has studied it for 13 years, her mature vocals are what really makes this entire re-record so special. And most importantly they belong to her again. I did not care about vocals back then, to me it was always the writing but you can see the improvement and the level of mastery she’s reached. Innocent and Back to December are my favorites and I Can See You and Timeless from Vault tracks but truly they’re all loved by me. I will now go listen to Speak Now Taylor’s Version again.

Lev anon again! One of my favorite bands r disbanding rlly soon :( But then I thought about more questions related to bands so!
If all the characters (separated into night crew and day crew) formed their own bands, what role would each character take? And what type of band would they be?
Hey hey, Lev Anon, long time no see! Sorry to hear a band you like is splitting up. Hopefully it wasn't over anything bad. And this question is hilarious to think about. SO, on their world they had some instruments for music that were similar and some that were very out there. But, for this I'll assume everyone can play at least one from Earth or takes up one... Sorry it's long!
Night Crew - Band Name: "Filthy Acts at a Reasonable Price" (I only chose this name because it's a funny to me. It's a Jojo characters stand name change for English release).
Singer: Zilla. She's one of the biggest music lovers and can actually hit a lot of notes if given the chance. Singing used to be one of her passions when she was little.
Drummer: Lynette, funny enough, she actually played drums while Wicks played Guitar and Charletta did vocals when they were younger. They joked about starting their own band but never pursued it. And her videogame love appeared.
Bass Guitar: Drake. I can see him playing this role well, however, not really doing any singing as his voice could never handle the same vocal range as any of the others. Though he can infuse his animosity with his voice to make it louder/threatening, or with his vampire beast form, it still wouldn't hold up.
Rhythm Guitarist: Alexander. I honestly don't know how quick he'd pick up Guitar, he has a good rhythm but he's seriously never played an instrument in his life. However, I'm sure Lev could teach him. He also doesn't have a bad singing voice, he can stay on pitch but it's nothing to write home about.
Lead Guitarist: Lev. He's actually dabbled in a few Earth instruments, guitar being one of them, Violin, Cello, and Sax. He does have a love for string instruments but also enjoys the melody of a good sax. He also has a good control of his vocal range, so he could match Zilla's pitches.
Keyboard: Claudia, I can just imagine her going ham on those keys and somehow still fitting well enough to the beat. Plus giving her the option to change the sound of how each key is CRUSED. She'd be having way too much fun and I'd imagine Drake and or Lynette constantly trying to keep her in line with it.
Morning Crew - Band Name: "Worse Company" (For the same reason as above I chose this one).
Singer: Oh oh, Beatrice. She has a magnificent singing voice, especially when in tandem with one of her abilities.
Drummer: Elliot, he used to have to keep on rhythm a lot for skin drums back with his old "tribe" so I'd imagine him pick up on it, but it'd take a little while with the sticks.
Bass Guitar: Oddly enough, June, he'd like to feel the reverberations of string instruments, he actually has his own harp at home for this reason. He'd probably love being able to hold it close to himself to and feel it.
Lead Guitarist: Zane, though he's never really played an instrument before I can imagine him taking a liking to the role. Whether he'd be good at it or not is up in the air. I'd like to say he could learn but it'd take him a while as he lacks rhythm with music.
Keyboard: Tila, I actually immediately thought of the piano playing cat, even though she would take her job very seriously as she always does. She isn't one to mess around unlike Claudia. However, she would be fascinated by the many functions and sounds it has, and probably become overwhelmingly distracted by that.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS QUESTION, I had a lot of fun thinking about this. Also I didn't not include Viola since she is part of the mid-shift crew. BUT I can see her being a roadie for both and number one fan in support.
YOU BETTER HAVE A SWELL DAY, HOMIE!! <3 And again, I'm sorry to hear about the band you like splitting, at least you got to hear them while they were together!

OKAY VOCACOLLE SUMMER TOP 15 SONGS (my ranking) LETS GOO
1. Kannagi - Hiiragi Magnetite: the lyrics on this are going to keep me occupied for the longest time until i understand it better. the atmosphere of this song is just incredible, the addition of the bells in her hand in the song, the light chime-y parts of the the instrumental, the piano, the longer notes, u dont need to know the lyrics to know theres a sense of regret in here. theres enough in the chimes u can feel the inner reflection in this, & like other series songs it hits that standing at the end of world in the rain feeling. its paced so perfectly it doesnt even feel like 6 minutes. series wise i think thats not only a call back to kyuuyaku but like shoushitsu & kyuuyaku it shows off that loop theme, getting into whats going on building it up, theres a bit of calm and then it picks up again. lots of story telling & details in it to add to the narrative. haru fits it so perfectly & that's definitely by design. this song has already embedded itself in my heart
2. Stockholm Office - Crump: if kannagi wasnt posted this would take first place EASILY IMMEDIATELY. i cant say in words how much i loved this so instantly. the light whispery-ness of kafu & the spacey-ness of certain instruments and parts combined with the heavy groundedness of the rest of it is so so perfect. the poetic way the lyrics show off the state of things in this song without being super blunt about the complaints in it & the overall rhythm of it draws me in so so much. they really matched the mood of the instrumentals & the lyrics so perfectly. its not spacey enough for me to say true dissociation type feel but theres such a strong feeling of disconnection in this, that feeling of lying to urself to stick something out which im sure is entirely intended given the title. im about to become the number one promoter of this song its one of those found it at the perfect timing things for me.
3. Candy Drop - yurame: this has the usual yurame song feel. i can only describe it as sounding how carbonation in drinks feels. its trendy sounding but at the same time is all its own thing and authentic feeling. the lyrics are written in a way its like ah yeah i get that feeling. despite the lightness of the instrumental its good at getting that melancholic feel across & isnt jarring in the slightest. flower has that mix of rough & cute to suit this as well. very good song.
4. Quiet - szri: szri's usual quick & heavy pacing definitely building off what they did in anaphylaxis. even includes the smallest part of it & u know i love songs that connect to each other. gekiyaku & kafu are such a good combination too especially how they pull it off. not a very light song in terms of content but fun nonetheless & isnt that what vocaloids about.
5. Euthanasia - Dopam!ne: a lighter/simpler song in terms of instrumentals that he does. nice change & still very distinctly his style. definitely not a light song in terms of content the guy even put a content disclaimer at the end. still easy to listen to if u like his style tho. good song
6. Waste - mairu: this ones probably about as heavy as szri's quiet musically speaking though theres a few calmer sections. flower's roughness fits the topic well i think. another one where the mood of every part of the song just seems to align well. i dont have anything profound to say i just think its neat
7. OSINT - Sheeno Mirin: i love the atmosphere in sheeno mirin songs a lot & this one doesnt disappoint. interesting vocal combination choice not that they overlap in any part & they work well with what they were going for. theres something brain scratching (in a good way) about the instrumental, a full sound thats got a weight to it but isnt too much. its really good idk what else to say
8. groom groove - yowanecity: i feel like its been forever since ive seen anything from yowanecity i really should follow them anyway i got really excited to see they posted & this didn't disappoint. its got that bounciness i expect from their songs. fun & smooth sounding. makes u want to dance. definitely worth your time.
9. Capsule - Fuyuu: cat rime & sekai thats so fun i love that and then the gachpon theme on top of it so fun. the sound is not what you'd expect from that description tho. it has a darker feel to it almost grungy i want to say but definitely not off putting. as part of the rime lover nation i love this song. this is going to end up stuck in my head all the time just like crow crow does. very good & both sekai & rime sound like they belong in this song 👍
10. Gambit - Yunosuke: another trendy, almost bubbly sounding song from yunosuke. pretty atmosphere to it. love the whistles & traditional sound instruments mixed in with the otherwise modern electric type sound its got going on. this would be fun to sing if i take the time to learn the lyrics. super good very worth your time
11. Rain - Gomennasai ga ienakute: the usual simple sounding style they have, deceivingly simple sounding bc its very clearly not. the tension building part right before the 3 min mark hits me in particular. very cool rin high notes at the end. very nice melancholic mood to it. maybe i should rank this higher its growing on me the more i listen to it. their lyric sense is very good. compels me. definitely give this a listen.
12. Static Love - Hagino: kafu rap nation rise up. its got that chiptune sound at first that gradually gives into a more modern edm sound. a good mix of cute, cool, and fun sounding. underrated the mixing & execution of this is too good to only have a few hundred views & yet here we are. worth your time
13. Prototype - Aira: THIS SONG GOES SO HARD!! coko chisei is such a good combo too. interesting theme going on here but the melody & such is just very good. the lalala parts make it seem a little lighter than it actually is. love the slightly wavering slightly squeaky sound on both vocals. lends a certain charm to this song.
14. Lewder Liar - Zensen: another great electro swing song from zensen. very fun fresh sounding instrumentals & flower's in no way out of place here. good mix. kind of an interesting theme going on here what with the demon stuff etc.
15. Death Game - Uron Riyu: this one is so fun to me. kafu running a death game. posting this as a vocacolle song feels like its framing vocacolle itself as a death game between songs & thats such an interesting way to look at it. kinda fun. the composition on its fun in its own way too. ik it's supposed to be dark but its just a fun song to me.

When My You came out I complained that it was too basic (though, tbf, Jungkook only wrote the lyrics and used the beat his company had given him for Army's birthday song, and I still cried watching the MV because it was so cute, and the song and Jungkook's vocals are so sweet), but I really like the song now. It's so relaxing, peaceful, and comforting. It's so pretty. When Jungkook starts singing in Korean I'm always like "Yeah, now that's better". t doesn't matter how simple the instrumental is when Jungkook fills it up with his voice. He layers songs with vocals, essentially writing them with his voice. It's genius and sounds beautiful, and makes any song 10 times more interesting. It's a shame he doesn't get credited on Spotify for it (he gets credited for the chorus). I say this all the time but his backup vocals are often the only thing differentiating the verses and choruses and adding progression to the song. Dynamite's last chorus literally sounds the same as the first two - Jungkook's key change and other adlibs are the only thing taking the song to a climax. And don't get me started on ON, Jungkook's back up vocals are vital to that song. Jungkook went crazy on ON. Some of Jungkook's absolute best adlibs are on that track. The thing about Jungkook's adlibs and harmonies is that they're not predictable or cliché. It's common to add high notes to the last chorus (UO: but I really love Twice's backing vocals in songs, I think they're some of the best in kpop, yet I know people often dislike their high notes). However, Jungkook is unpredictable. You know he will do his thing, but he never sounds like he's just flexing his vocals or going through the motions. His backing vocals are completely unique and fit their part of the song perfectly, sounding so natural. He rarely overpowers the lead vocals and never breaks the flow of the song - even though he often sings throughout the whole track. This is an aspect of singing that is particularly creative but singers don't get any credit for because they're not the producers or songwriters. I'm pretty sure that most of Jungkook's adlibs, harmonies, etc. are his own input. I've seen producers guide Jungkook when recording a song but I've never seen them tell him when to adlib. I literally say this all the time, but he does not get enough credit for his backing vocals. It's one of his strongest qualities as a singer and artist and sets him apart from anyone else.
Back to my original point, My You is reallyyyyy nice.

Observations on different series’ composition styles
Aikatsu
They like to play around with sound effects, especially in gothic songs
In the anime version of songs, they sometimes put in more glitter noises compared to the game or CD versions??? Like, not just for the auras. Just overall as a kind of constant background noise. (If you want an example, compare ep 121’s performance of Light Pink Day Tripper to the official channel’s DCD music video. Or, Heaven forbid, episode 50′s performance of Moonlight Destiny.)
Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live
They don’t overdo it. They know simple is best
These lyrics will give you so many insights into the characters’ minds
Pretty repetitive usually
So so so catchy. Stuck in my head
Number of key changes is either 0 or like 5 billion
Very clear climax/ending with the vocal melody. Usually it’s an English phrase being sung at a high note. (e.g. “point nine”, “gift”)
(me @ me) You can turn up the volume. Really. There are no surprise attacks.
Aikatsu Stars
Classical instruments anywhere and everywhere. Whether it’s pop, rock, a ballad, or anything else, there’s always going to be classical instruments.
Whenever a song is building up to the beat drop, there are about 2 seconds of techno noises added in to... assist... with building something up...?
Either the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard, or... or Yume
Aikatsu Friends
Really repetitive chorus but it doesn’t even matter if they reuse the same melody 4 times in just the short version. It’s good enough to warrant repetition
Pseudo-rap
Verses, then chorus, then instrumental break, followed by a capella (ish) version of chorus, followed by beat drop. Pretty standard pop format.
Did they use a vocal compression effect or was the VA just singing weirdly?
Generally they put on vocal compression effects during build-up parts e.g. the verses or bridge. I think they do it to make the following lines sound better and fuller in comparison, but it’s such a cheap lousy trick. Like Come On
Noises that sound kind of big or echoing / generally just adding a lot of ‘texture’ and ‘dimension’ to the songs
Actually letting the girls hit low notes. Good.
Aikatsu Planet
An abundance of poorly-placed accidentals that just sound sour for no reason
What key is this even in?? Was there a key change, or does it just sound weird???
Children yelling (or are they children??)
At long last... songs for girls who can’t hit high notes
Very noisy, lots of messy-seeming sound
Excessive use and abuse of any given instrument
The backing music is always either too overbearing or too boring
no
stop
Waccha Primagi
Near the end after a character stops singing, there’s a second of silence followed by a burst of sound
Plucky little noises that would have distinct sound waves on a graph (idk how to explain it but like. like a marimba or plucking guitar strings)
Hissy-sounding percussion / frequent use of drum cymbals
The notes themselves don’t go particularly low, but they have a decent amount of songs that are in a lower range overall
Pitchy notes / difficult to identify the key

I have 2 brain cells and both of them are focused on Rock Band AU in modern setting with Temari, Kankuro, and Gaara!!
Gaara with deep black ring make up around his eyes. Lead singer even though he’s a little guy (he has a lot of pent up rage and I think screaming lyrics to heavy metal could be good for him <3 )
Kankuro wearing all black with purple face paint. He’s already THE alt icon. I love him. He def has piercings. He is the drummer, because he is not given as much attention as his other siblings in canon so it could be kind of a parallel and also drummers are hot and I make the rules around here.
Temari!! My queen!!!! Temari definitely had a phase where she wore super exaggerated black and white makeup and she looked absolutely terrifying (and gorgeous) doing it. She is a guitar player!! I don’t know enough about guitars to say what kind but she is wonderful and I just know she could be amazing at it if she wanted to. She shreds like a pro. Because she’s the best. She also does backup vocals for the band.
Their father was their manager and then he got cancelled or smth or idk but Baki became their new manager because I said so. And the little monster sealed inside of Gaara in the anime? It is now his feral cat. Everyone hates it. Gaara included. It’s okay. The cat eventually learns to love Gaara. Their fans love the little hellion too.
As for ships I also have Thoughts about other bands in the Band AU!!!!!!!!!
InoShikaCho is something. I’m not sure. Ino is the lead vocalist. She has like pop music vibes but Choji and Shikamaru don’t so maybe they make just really Good generic music? Stuff that’s always on the radios. I don’t know. Shikamaru does not sing, thank you very much. He could rap if he wanted to though.
You already know that Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke could be super complicated as a band because they Did Not get along as genin. Whatever. They aren’t my problem. I’m ignoring them. But they’re really good and Gaara definitely had a crush on Naruto at some point.
Neji, Tenten, and Rock Lee are an interesting trio to think about. Tenten raps for sure, because she’s pretty and I think she could be a badass rapper. Neji is the leader of their band and he writes their music too. Main vocalist vibes. Tenten also helps write music and can play like any instrument ever. Rock Lee is for sure tearing it up with swag dance moves. Gai, their manager, is definitely big on choreography. They’re more of a mainstream rap or hip hop group, but I think they have a background in other music genres.
Oh jeez. My personal favorite, Team 8!! Kiba’s everything.. Hinata with her shy demeanor.. Shino’s literal trench coat that covers him from head to toe. I don’t know. I love them all to death but they’re weird and forgettable to everyone but me it feels like. They’re alt, maybe an indie band? Or maybe not? I don’t know I think Shino plays guitar for them. Kiba is on drums maybe? Or maybe he is also on guitar. Maybe Shino plays drums? They’re hard. But imagine Kiba smugly going at with some killer vocals and making eye contact with an unimpressed Kankuro in the crowd. Battle of the bands babyyy. Hinata had a pretty voice but she is super shy about singing which leads to confidence issues because Hanabi has no problem singing in front of large crowds. So Hinata doesn’t sing but she eventually does after pursuing a solo career when their band naturally disbands because they have different paths in life they want to follow. Shino becomes a teacher lmao. Anyways I’ve decided Kiba with lead vocals. Everything else is not worth my time. What other teams are there again? It’s not like anyone cares enough to read this anyways. It’s mostly for me. Wait I think I got all of the rookie 12. Did I? OH MY GOD I ALMODT FORGOT AKAMARU I’m so sorry. Yeah Akamaru is Kiba’s dog and he goes on tour with them.
Nobody else is important to me. I mean I guess I could do some side characters.
The Sannin were a super popular band back in the day, with Jiraiya on lead vocals and the other two as backup vocals. Orochimaru was a master of guitar and any stringed instrument really. Tsunade SLAYED on drums. OH IDEA. Sakura plays drums and Sasuke is on guitar with Naruto on main vocals! But anyways the sannin have a major break up after Jiraiya decides to leave the band right after one of their biggest tours like ever, effectively cutting off the other two’s career in a band. Kaito Dan, a stage tech who is also Tsunade’s fiancé, dies in a car accident with Tsuande on the way to one of her gigs. She is too traumatized to ever sing or play on stage again. She runs off to get drunk and gamble. Orochimaru gets in good with Danzo before eventually getting cancelled (and being forced to take the blame for Danzo) when it is found he is mistreating the new talent in attempts to make a perfect singer to make them money or something I don’t know. He runs off and does small gigs but mostly pursues higher education and getting a ridiculous amount of degrees. He has the money so he just keeps getting them. I don’t know it’s funny to me. He takes on an apprentice named Kabuto and then another named Kimimaro. Is that how u spell that? Idk.
Uhmmm Minato was a really good singer but he and his fiancé died young, and while Minato had been briefly introduced to stardom it all ended when he and his fiancé died. Kushina died in labor and Minato literally died on the way home from the hospital. Super sad. Also Minato had been mentoring some kids, Kakashi and Rin and Obito. Uhm I choose for Obito to get an injury and like. Retire super early. Rin tries to make things work and then dies. I don’t know. Kakashi is traumatized but makes a successful life for himself. He becomes manager for Naruto and the other two. He also mentored Yamato and Yamato mentored Sai.
This is getting too long I’m so sorry.

{ FUTURE DREAMS S006 — AUDITION } PERFORMANCE: BAEK YERIN'S BYE BYE MY BLUE ✿
Nervousness was an emotion that Minseo wasn't accustomed to, but the morning had gifted her with a bout of anxiousness. It manifested in trembling fingers and a fluttering in her chest. Had she eaten butterflies for breakfast? She had not paid attention whether the names were called alphabetically or in order of arrival, but she knew that her name hadn't been called.
A trainee entered and left the audition room every five minutes or so. Minseo had counted the minutes and she would have counted the seconds with the watch on her cellphone had her song choice not been playing on repeat since she had arrived to the building. By now the long line of trainees had thinned out and she was near the front, volume of her music lowered enough for her to hear her name be called.
"Seo Minseo."
Her body had forgotten how to breathe autonomically, chest rising in protest and snatching the air molecules surrounding her with a forced gasp. Surprisingly, no hiccups this time and she was thankful that her body had ceased tormenting her when her turn had arrived. She lifts her hand in the air, rising to her feet shortly after and stepping closer to the shorter woman by the door.
"Remember to state your name, the number of years you have trained with the company, and the title of the song that you will be performing today."
Simple instructions, but she was grateful for the reminder. It drew her out of the hazy state she had preoccupied herself for the past two hours. Was it too late to run to the bathroom and splash water on her face? She had prepared for the audition to the best of her ability. She had been confident of her progress the day before and nothing had changed overnight besides her determination to prove herself and leave a lasting impression until she could stand on stage with the rest of the trainees.
No point in prolonging the inevitable, Minseo.
She steps on the marked spot with tape, gaze unabashedly sweeping across the panel of intimidating individuals that would decide on whether she was one step closer to potentially debuting next year. Eye contact was important to establish a connection, how to make them want to know more about her. Minseo could use any of the tips her brother had given her to succeed in acquiring a spot in the upcoming season.
"Hello, I'm Seo Minseo. I'm currently on my thir— f-fourth year as a trainee." Her slip-up had her wrinkling her nose in a quick attempt of suppressing a burgeoning smile, but her facial muscles had a mind of their own. "Today, I will be singing Baek Yerin's Bye Bye My Blue."
With a nod of her head and the briefest warm smile, the piano keys draw out her voice and circulates around the room. It wasn't the most difficult song that she had ever performed, but she could emotionally connect to the lyrics and instrumentals were comforting. Her vocals were light and airy, full of emotions that weren't fully her own, but one that she could dedicate to the amorphous figure her mind had conjured. She could relate to feeling envious of traits, which she found devoid within herself and could see them manifested in other people. Throughout her performance, she occasionally makes eye-contact with a faint smile lingering on her lips. She embraces herself when she sings the final verse with a more hopeful tone than the previous verse, swaying slightly while the music fades.
"Thank you." The woman from earlier breaks the silence. No reassuring smile from the panel, but she is satisfied with her performance. "Before you go, which of the following roles do you believe suit you best: center, dancer, leader, or vocal?"
"Leader." Minseo blurts out without much thought, surprisingly herself in the process and it's visible with how her eyes had widen in shock. "I'm not the most natural dancer. I don't think I'm ready to be able to say that I can occupy the center position either when others are more advanced and more deserving than me. I could choose the role of vocalist, but what I love the most is being able to perform with others. I want to be able to look around the stage and feel proud of the path we took together that lead us to that performance."
"I want to feel useful by supporting others and I believe that I can do that with the leader role." Minseo punctuates her sentence with a firm nod, fixing her posture to stand as straight as she could with her shoulders back. "And not to brag, but I have exceptional emotional intelligence." She was by no means serious about the statement. Could that be uttered out loud without feeling embarrassed? "No one is more in tune with their emotions than I am. I'm an ace at refereeing and resolving arguments."
