 A/n:so, this is the second part, and I really hope you guys like it .

“I am so happy to have you here again.” Kimmel said, as they sat down. “You’re no longer my neighbor.”

“Unfortunately.” The woman agreed. “I miss you, Molly and the kids, we don’t have neighbors anymore.”

“You mean the house next door isn’t ready or…” 

“We literally have no neighbors, we bought fourteen acres ‘next door’ to a preserve, so it’s amazing views and a huge amount of privacy.” She explained. “Which when you have a job in the industry, and two young children is amazing.”

“That’s right, you had another baby!”Jimmy said as if he didn’t already now. “How far apart are they?”

“So, we had Atticus in January last year, and eleven months later we had Talulah,” She paused giving the audience time o cheer, “we wanted them to be close in age, which is a decision a lot of parents make, we didn’t know it would happen so fast, but apparently we are very fertile people,” She paused again, letting the people go crazy, “Yeah, so of course, we didn’t factor in our decision Harry’s tour, my album release, all my projects, and a very cranky baby, Atticus is physically all H, but he’s bad temper is all mine.”

“You went on tour pregnant and with a baby?” The host asked. “That must have been a crazy experience.”

“It was something.” She agreed. “But I was the boss’s wife, so everyone took good care of me, made sure I was comfortable, helped around with the baby, and H created an amazing environment with his whole team, it was lovely to witness.”

Met Gala 2019 With Liza Koshy| Vogue

“You co-chaired the Met Gala back in 2016, how is like to be back, and this year your gorgeous husband is co-chairing the event.” Liza asked Y/n as soon as they finished greeting each other.

The camera was zooming on the naked Gucci gown made of black lace, sequins and feathers the superstar was wearing, totally complementing her husband look.

“It is amazing, I am so proud of H, this is such an amazing honor, and is his first year, so I am happy we get to share this with each other.” Y/n said in a soft voice.

“What is ‘camp’ to you?”The you tuber asked.

“Just be yourself, whatever you want no matter what, be bold, be crazy, it’s camp.” The actress said moving her colorful feather boa/cape situation. “I think there is no limits.”  She had almost Rapunzel long hair extensions and a spectacular floral and feathers arrangement on top of her head.

“What was your inspiration for tonight’s spectacular look?”

“I just wanted to match H, tonight is all about him, and have fun, so I let Alessandro do as he pleased, and Ale being Ale didn’t hold back.” she shared. “My youngest didn’t even recognized me.”

“You look one hot mama, it’s hard to imagine you have two babies, does Atticus and Talulah know they have the coolest mother?”Liza asked.

“H is the cool parent,” Y/n admitted with a found smile, “Atticus has some idea that his daddy is a rockstar, so Harry’s definitely the coolest in his eyes.”

“I am here to support Harry,”Y/n said to he camera as the teams stretched in the background, “he’s not a very gracious loser, and I mean, he’s in James’s Team against Michelle Obama, there is just no way that they are going to win this game.” 

“Babe, “ Y/n called from the sidelines after watching Harry be hit in the ‘1D’ “Are you okay, honey?”

“I want more kids… in the future,” the actress blushed slightly looking to the camera.

“How old are your kids know?”Kelly asked.

“Atticus is three years old, and Lulah just turned two, the terrible twos, funny enough, Lulah doesn’t suffer from it, but Atticus haven’t got over it yet…”Y/n said with a smile as pictures showed up on the screen, her children faces always blurred or hidden.

“People say terrible two, but threenager is a real thing,”Kelly said seriously.

“Yeah, that’s what I heard,”The actress said. “But Lulah just turned two, and I think it might not have fully catch up with her yet, because as I was leaving the house today, she threw her first temper tantrum.” Y/n commented. “She was just, on the floor, crying her little heart out, and of course, Atticus didn’t like to be outdone, so he threw himself at the rug screaming bloody murder, and I just left them there for Harry to deal,” The young woman told Kelly. “I sounded so bad right now, but really, I am that mom that keeps trying to calm them down, and things just get worst because it becomes a competition between the two toddlers, while Harry is just chill, he sit on the couch and just watches them unamused until they organically stop.”

“They lay it on sometimes, like ‘why are you leaving me’”

“I thing is worst with Harry,”Y/n confessed, “I have no problem in admitting H is the favorite parent, like, they come to me for comfort and all the ‘mommy’ things, but Harry is their favorite.” She said with a smile.

“And you don’t feel jealous or anything…”

“No, because, to me, it just shows how much of na amazing daddy he is, and I just feel like: damn! I made a really good choice.”The crowd cheer. “It’s really validating and I am just proud of myself for my choice in partner and baby daddy.”

“Do you get uncomfortable by the amount of female attention your husband’s get?” Hailey asked as they sipped their margaritas.

“So, I have two answers for those questions: I don’t get uncomfortable with his fans showing their love for him, it’s lovely to see the amount of love and devotion he inspires, and they have always been so welcoming to me.” She said looking at possible the only other woman in the planet that understood the level of craziness it was. “But I do get uncomfortable with women in the industry hitting on him, I am not even talking women our age, it’s like: cougar level, and very recently we had a very awful situation, where it was in a working environment with a power imbalance, and it just got too much, more people got involved, media attention happened, and at the same time we had to deal with this as a couple and as a family.”

“Does you ever wish you guys just had normal jobs and careers?”Hailey supports her face in her hand. 

“Never, no matter what, I can’t imagine Harry not doing what he does, and I would never no make the career choices I did, I love acting, I love singing and songwriting, and I love directing.” She says with conviction. “For me it was life changing, I came from nothing, my mom was a single mother waitress, raising three kids on a small wage salary and tips, Disney changed my life, it paid for our first house, for the seed money in my mother’s organic company, it paid my sister college.”

“Is it surreal that your children have a childhood so different from yours?”The blonde asks with a smile.

“They’re extremely privileged, my four years old the other day was like: mummy, why do we have so many houses? And Lulah was complaining the size of the Jet, because she wanted the ‘big plane’, and H was like: sugarcube, you don’t know what your are asking for.” Y/n said with a soft smile. “My children…they have a lot of rich people problems.”

“Oh My God, you look even more gorgeous in person.” Drew said as they created each other. 

“Thank you, thank you, have you look at yourself? I was obsessed with you growing up, it’s so amazing to be here.” Y/n said with a big smile, arranging the skirt of her dress as she sat down.

“You’re the face of a Dior perfume, a brand ambassador for Gucci, multi- award winning actress and musician, your under thirty with two Academy Awards, which is historical, you have two successful companies, you just came back a few months ago from a very glorious passage through Cannes where you  debuted Top Gun: Maverick, your own movie and you own Camera d’Ore for your debut feature, also: 14 minutes standing ovation, for a movie produced, directed, written and starred by women,” she stopped for a moment to allow the crowd to applauded the guest, “and then, your also a mom, to three children, and you’re married to Harry freaking Styles, the world’s biggest rockstar, and most wanted man according to Rolling Stones.”

“You just made me sound so cool.”The younger woman said with a small smile and flushed cheeks.

“You are cool.”Drew affirmed. “How do you balance it all?”

“I have a great team working with me, and I have just the greatest partner, and this is really important.”Y/n said crossing her legs. “We plan things in a way that the children will always have one of us 24/7 and in a way that we can always be together, his career is never more important than mine and vice-versa, we’re on tour now, Harry’s Love on Tour, I am a non-touring artist, but H really loves touring, is his thing, and it was important for him to have me and the kids together  with him on the road as his support system, and the children just love going to all the different museums, and seeing new things, and eating different stuff, but, during his tour break we’re moving to Australia because I have a movie that is going to be shoot there.”

“What is like going on tour with three young children under five?”

“It’s chaos, Atticus and Lulah have some understanding that this is daddy’s job, this is Atticus second tour, but for them is just fun, Riley is just a baby, she’s with me 24/7, shes our calmest child,” Y/n said. “She’s actually the same age that Atticus was during Live on Tour.”

“Riley is your quarantine baby…”

“I found out I was pregnant in February last year during Where the Crawdads Sing pre-production, so yeah, she’s kinda of my Covid baby.”

The 1

The 1 is talking to an ex and updating them on her life, we got to see it reenacted at the 2021 Grammys when Folklore won AOTY:

The 1 was written between March and July 2020. It had not been long since Harry and Taylor saw each other, we know of at least at Ed Sheeran's Wedding in September. Lover and Fine Line (on Taylors 30th Birthday) came out since then, 2019 had been a big year.

In the long pond sessions Taylor and Aaron talked about how it reflects the whole album. Which is interesting when Taylor also sang in Gold Rush that her mind turns Harry's life “into folklore”.

I see The 1, Cardigan and Exile as one conversation (I'll get to Betty). From pleasantries, expressing support and then rehashing their end.

[Verse 1] I'm doing good, I'm on some new shit Been saying "yes" instead of "no" I thought I saw you at the bus stop, I didn't though I hit the ground running each night I hit the Sunday matinée You know the greatest films of all time were never made

In the long pond sessions Taylor said the opening line has a double meaning, that the sound of folklore was a new direction and that she was being open to new experiences personally.

Taylor has a similar line to the bus stop, in Cardigan, which is almost a continuation of The 1, “I knew I'd curse you for the longest time / Chasin' shadows in the grocery line” both capture that feeling of subconsciously looking for someone

Taylor says she’s busy, hits the ground running and fits as much as she can in. Ironic lines in a pandemic. The matinee line sounds like she made time to see Dunkirk, but maybe that's just me.

“The greatest films of all time were never made.” I love this line, she’s reflecting that their relationship was cut short. She also refers to it as a film later in the conversation in Exile. The wildest dreams music video also refers to them as Taylor and Burton

[Pre-Chorus] I guess you never know, never know And if you wanted me, you really should've showed And if you never bleed, you're never gonna grow And it's alright now

In the pre-chorus Taylor reflects on the different views of their relationship in 1989 compared to HS1. They have both said they don’t communicate in person what they can in song.

'If you never bleed your never gonna grow' there is a similar line in Woman on HS1: "he’s right where I should, where I should be but you’re making me bleed”. The reference here is that Harry should have shared his feelings sooner, or then but didn't.

However, in Cruel Summer however, Taylor said "And if I bleed, you'll be the last to know, oh" so it seems mutual to hide their feelings.

In Olivia, Harry said “This isn't the stain of a red wine, I'm bleeding love”

It's alright is a reference to Fine Line's "We'll be a fine line / We'll be alright"

[Chorus] But we were something, don't you think so? Roaring twenties, tossing pennies in the pool And if my wishes came true It would've been you In my defense, I have none For never leaving well enough alone But it would've been fun If you would've been the one (Ooh)

I love “roaring 20’s” like, it refers to both her age and “it was so Gatsby that year” from TIWWCHNT, referring the party 1989 era before the gates shut in Reputation. 20 is a Haylor theme also

Also tossing pennies and wishes reminds you of I wish you would.

ME! Also includes “I can never leave well enough alone”

Taylor has described their relationship as 'like the mall before the internet' in Coney Island, an incredibly fun place.

[Verse 2] I have this dream you're doing cool shit Having adventures on your own You meet some woman on the internet and take her home We never painted by the numbers, baby But we were making it count You know the greatest loves of all time are over now

I love the second verse, she is hoping that her muse is living a happy new life. To me 'adventures on your own' conjures up Harry's post One Direction career. Which it may have been with his second album freshly released.

'We never painted by the numbers' is similar to 'you painted my nights a colour I have searched for since' in Question..?

[Pre-Chorus] I guess you never know, never know And it's another day waking up alone [Bridge] I, I, I persist and resist the temptation to ask you If one thing had been different Would everything be different today?

1- When did you start playing Choices? What was the first book you played? 

Best guess would be back in January of 2018. It was a joke at first since a friend saw one of their god-awful ads and said we should both try it. Next thing you know, we were both arguing over which books were better and regretting our decision to start. Though their opinions on what constitutes good books are almost as bad as the Choices ad that got us to jokingly play (and I say this most lovingly because they are awesome and I love them). I started with Most Wanted, and my friend started with The Freshman. 

2- When and why did you join Choices fandom?

Oh gods! I joined back in March 2019. I know I’m a Tumblr baby by most everyone’s standards, but that feels like a really long time. I joined when Open Heart book one was released. I had lurked, reading fanfics, for a few months before biting the bullet and creating a blog and actually posting. Only joined because I was taking my editor’s advice and writing something entirely outside my norm to break a particularly bad case of writer’s block. Thought I might as well share those silly things if I was taking the time to write them. Maybe someone would enjoy them. Never did plan on sticking around, but found so many lovely people that I’ve come to call friends.

3- How did you pick your blog name? 

It was lilyofchoices. My name + Choices because I am super creative like that with those sorts of naming things 😅 I changed it to lilyoffandoms when I left the Choices fandom for a bit. I’ve thought about changing it more times than I can count but I can’t bring myself to actually follow through on it. How do y’all’s change your blog name with each new book release? You are a crazy different breed of tumblr and you fascinate me.

4- Pull up the first post in your archive, and tell us about it!  

I deleted the first one years ago. It was my first drabble. Currently, as it stands, the first thing in my archive is this post about Desire and Decorum, and it still makes me giggle.

5- How long have you been writing fanfiction?

I’ve only been writing fanfic since I joined Tumblr. I never really tried writing fanfic before that. Some nonfiction personal things before that but never anything like this world. It's been an adventure, to say the least haha

6- What is your favorite Choices book, and what is your favorite Choices book to write about?

My favorite book is probably Blades of Light and Shadow, book one, but there are plenty that are really close behind. This is also the book I’d say I enjoy writing for the most because it is my favorite book, contains my favorite LI, and has one of my favorite OCs (Maiele) in it.

Though recently, I’ve been writing more for Crimes of Passion because it's more of a challenge for me. It's a different vibe between the MC and the LI and it's one I don’t often explore so I’m here for that right now. But I have a sneaky suspicion once Blades 2 drops I’ll be back on my bullshit with that again.

7- Share the first fanfic you wrote with us. Do you still like it, or would you change it if you were writing it today?

I don’t think it exists on this site anymore. Maybe in someone’s reblog? I still have it in my files. It was an Ethan x MC drabble featuring my MC, Merida. I still like it. I’d not change it cuz I’m a firm believer in writing it and don’t look back haha.

This is it:

He swallowed the lump forming in his throat, trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to form in his eyes. There it was. He had told her. Dr. Banerji was dying and Ethan was at a loss as to what was ailing his mentor and friend. Ethan stared at the young woman in front of him and then to the floor. He cleared his throat and made a small motion to turn back into Naveen’s room but froze instantly the moment he noticed her take a step towards him.

She threw her arms around him and hugged him, wishing to take away all of his pain, all of his loneliness. Silently willing him to understand that she cared for him. Cared deeply for him and much more than she should. “Ethan. I’m so sorry,” she whispered, one hand stroked through his hair while the other grasped his neck and slowly bent his head toward her shoulders as she raised herself to her tiptoes to meet him halfway.

He tensed upon feeling her arms around him. Arms, he thought to himself, that he had imagined holding him for a number of weeks now. Ever since that night spent sitting up with her watching little baby Ethan. “Merida,” he sighed as he gradually relaxed into the embrace.

She didn’t let up on the hug, squeezing him to her just a bit more tightly. God, she had wanted to comfort him when Dolores died but she didn’t know how he would respond. Now, he was facing the possibility of another friend dying and she couldn’t help herself.

He responded to the increased pressure of her hug and tightened his own hold upon her. Finding himself tracing circles up her spine and imagining what it would feel like to move his hands to tease along the skin of her back where her pants met her shirt.

Her breath caught when she felt his hands move lower. No longer making gentle movements along her spine but increasing their pressure upon her body, nearly massaging their way lower. She brought one of her own hands around to his chest, lightly bunching his white coat in her fist to try and pull him closer to her.

A loud crash echoed down the hall. “Shit!” a construction worker cursed. The two doctors jumped back from each other both staring into each other’s eyes seeming to question if they had both felt the same in the other’s arms. She blushed slightly. “I should see to my other patients. Dr. Banerji’s condition stays between us. Understand, Rookie?” he stated, his eyes narrowing. She nodded and he turned and marched down the hall.

8- What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?

I love asking this question of others but don’t like it asked of me. I’m so bad at self-rep and advertising my wares 😂 But if I had to pick one, I’d say this one. It was so far outside my comfort zone when it came to writing that I almost abandoned it two paragraphs in. But I’m a stubborn person, and I refused to let it beat me. Plus, I had been wanting to write a noir fic for this book since it was released. Furthermore, I adore Hayden’s work too much not to gift a little something back for all the art he shares with us, so I knew I just had to make it work.

9- Do you have a fic that you didn’t expect to be well received, but it was? What about one you expected to be but found could use a little more love?

I didn’t expect last year’s Luck of the Draw fic to garner much love. Attention? Maybe. But not love and definitely not the response I got. I really enjoyed writing that one. 

10- If you could write only angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why? 

Fluff. I’m a sucker for happy-ever-afters and an endless hopeless romantic. Give me the fluff. All the fluff. 

I pull a lot of what I toss into my silly drabbles from real life. Always been a believer in writing, most often what you know, and sprinkle that all with a dash of the stuff you don’t as a treat. And my life is pretty fluffy thanks to my incredible partner. 

However, I do so adore angst I’m just not able to write it often because it hurts more to write. But I’ll always always read it. That pain is *chef’s kisses*

11- Do you ever recognize yourself in any of your MCs or in your writing?

Maiele, my Blades MC, is most definitely me coded. His whole personality, his choice of partner when it comes to personality, his constant flirting with said partner, his sense of humor, his lack of a filter most times, it’s all pretty much me. Gabriel, my CoP MC, is me when it comes to romantic gestures and Valentine’s Day. I may be a romantic, but I get weird when it’s aimed at me 😂 

12- What element of writing do you struggle with most?

Editing. I refuse to do it. I hate it with the burning light of a thousand suns. Those of you that manage to edit your fics have all my admiration. I honestly don’t know how y’all do it. Doesn’t it just bore you to no end? 

13- Do you have any neglected work you really want to finish?

I have more drafts than I care to admit. I would like to complete a series I started long ago for Ethan x Merida, but I don’t know if I’ll ever do that. I’d settle for finishing one of my drafts 😅

14- If someone you know in real life (who isn’t involved in fandoms) asked to read your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you recommend they read first? 

Nope, haha, I’d not be able to do that. If I were that brave, I’d recommend this one maybe. I do so love Flynn. Or this one, mostly because I do so love the idea of Gabriel just pouting on the couch.

15 - Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing?

Not really. I mean all of em probably. I read a lot of books in a lot of genres. Mostly I use my drabbles as morning warm ups for my day job. 

There are definitely fanfic writers I admire around here that encourage me to share my silly things everyday. Especially all those queer writers out there that have a rather thankless existence sometimes around here but keep sharing their stories! They are all my heroes!!

16- Which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series? 

Any and all of my Maiele and Tyril stories. I just love them sooooo much!!

17- Do you write original fiction? 

Yes, but until recently, I wrote mostly nonfiction.

I do have a fic I began a few years back when I was still teaching. I had a student who hated their writing class, so I promised to write a short story alongside them and read it to the class like all the students had to if they gave it an honest go. 

They did and so I did too, and I was asked the following year to do it again by more students and so I continued the same story. I’ve since continued that same fic, and maybe someday I’ll actually go looking to publish it. 

18 -  What other hobbies do you have?

I love the outdoors. Hiking, spelunking, kayaking, gardening, camping, anything and everything outdoors. My other favorite hobby, which I've done for years and years, is fencing. I still am part of a club and teach a few levels. 

19 - What’s your favorite emoji? 

😅 because it’s legit my state of existence at this point in life.

Ian throws Anthony a surprise birthday party

Such a timely prompt :D

I decided to combine this fic with this promt:

The Best Day Ever

November thirtieth, 1987

June seventeenth, 1984

September sixteenth, 1987

Ian never had to think about these dates. He just knew, from around a month before they were due, to buy a gift and send a card. Of course he would also just call his sister and he'd see Anthony every week anyway. It had been like that for years and years. But the last few of them had been painful.

September sixteenth, 2017. Ian had sent a card and a text. No reply.

September sixteenth, 2018. Ian had sent nothing.

September sixteenth, 2019. Ian had sent a text. Just a 'thanx' in return.

September sixteenth, 2020. Ian had sent a birthday meme. 'lol thanks'.

September sixteenth, 2021. Ian sent nothing.

And September sixteenth, 2022. Nothing.

But now it was August 16th 2023 and Ian was determined to make Anthony's upcoming birthday count for seven. He was pacing up and down his Los Angeles appartement, suddenly stopped and shouted: "that's it!" into the dullness of the evening.

"What's up with Ian the last few days?" Shayne asked Keith at the Smosh headquarters.

They'd barely seen Ian, which had been common but not lately, now Anthony was there too. They peaked into Ian's office.

"He's still on the phone?"

Shayne stroked an imaginary goatee. "He's up to something…!"

Then the invitations started to arrive at people's doorsteps. They were impeccably hand written in gold letters that made you feel guilty of even considering not going. "The Declaration of Anthony Day" was written proudly at the top of each invitation. People would ask each other if they'd gotten one in hushed tones, and soon it was apparent that everyone at Smosh - the cast, the crew, the supporting staff - they were all invited. This was going to be some hell of a party.

And then the day arrived. A dull Saturday morning, Anthony had invited Ian, Mykie and a couple of his close friends for a vegan brunch at his home. Nothing fancy. Turning thirty-seven wasn't a particularly remarkable feat and Anthony didn't want to remind everyone of how hot he was while being the oldest person at Smosh.

The brunch was nice and uneventful, and Anthony was ready to spent the rest of the day quietly but all of a sudden the doorbell rang.

"Did we order pizza?" Mykie asked.

"I don't think so?" Anthony said, confused.

He opened the door and his jaw might as well have hit the floor. Shane Told from Silverstein was at his doorstep, dressed in all black but casual garments, and said matter-of-factly: "Happy birthday Anthony! Are ya comin'?"

"Wh.. whaaaat?" Anthony laughed and looked around, and immediately found the culprit. Ian stood there cheesing like a fool.

"Are you behind this, bestie?" Anthony asked. Ian winked.

Everyone followed Shane down the stairs and then they saw it: a sparkling monstrosity of a party bus. It was already packed with people!

"Oh my god, Jenna? Justine? Ryan! Natalie?!"

It was like the bus was filled with the year 2005. Anthony loved it. All these OG youtubers he'd not seen for ages. All of them greeted him with hugs and kisses and giggles and there was wine and champagne, and Anthony's party entered the bus as well and they drove off into downtown LA. When they arrived, Anthony saw they were at Rahel Ethiopian Vegan Cuisine, one of the best vegan restaurants in the city.

The owner of the restaurant greeted the party at the door and said "In honor of Anthony Day I have prepared you the most delicious foods! Please come inside."

"Anthony Day?" Anthony wondered aloud, and Ian laughed.

The evening was simply wonderful and Anthony saw so many people he almost got dizzy. But the night wasn't over: Ian's phone rang and he said "Hey Anthony, it's for you!"

Anthony picked up the phone, and he saw his mom in her home, together with Ian's mom who was apparently visiting.

"Hello dear," they said in near unison. Anthony was on the verge of tears.

"Hi moms."

They exchanged some sweet words and congratulations and when they hung up, Anthony dived in to hug Ian.

"This means so much to me, Ian."

Ian smiled mischievously.

"What are you planning now?" Anthony said mock-accusingly.

"Well, Anthony, you've just eaten the best meal of your life, but not everything can be five stars on your birthday. I've made you something that you must eat, or I will be offended! But I can't promise you that it's any good, or edible at all…"

The chef appeared again and rolled up a cake with thirty-seven candles on it.

"You made the cake?!" Anthony asked Ian, with a quiver in his voice.

"I sure did buddy. You know the last six years I haven't gotten you a proper gift or anything. I want to make good on that."

"Oh Ian!" Anthony hugged him again.

"Alright, alright," Ian patted Anthony on the back but he smiled widely while he did it.

To be honest, the cake did taste mediocre, but Anthony didn't mind at all. It was all the more proof that Ian had actually made it himself. He ate a whole chunk of it, and it wouldn't have mattered, all the other things. Just this cake alone, and Ian, those were the best gifts he could have ever gotten. Anthony was blissfully happy. When he went to sleep that night, he croaked to Mykie:

"I love Ian so much, he's the best friend in the entire world."

"I know you do honey," Mykie replied sweetly. "I'm so glad you're finally back together. You've been so much happier, and that in turn makes me happier."

Anthony hugged her under the blankets.

"You're such a hugger, I love it."

"Come here, daddy wants his cuddles," Anthony joked. But he was so tired that he fell asleep almost immediately after that.

Em stared at her laptop screen, glaring at her bank balance and imagining that maybe if she stared at it hard enough it’d jump up four figures. Five would be even nicer. But no, she was staring at just enough money to cover rent for next month. Fuck.

She wasn’t supposed to be travelling but after Spa she couldn’t say no, she had to do it. She couldn’t take the risk that anything would happen. And Dan was paying for her flights and hotels and most of her food, she barely needed to pay for anything. But her savings hadn’t gone back up since she’d bought that last minute flight to China and this was the result. She was broke and had to work more. It was her own fault, she’d cut back on clients while travelling, content to help Blake and Michael out when they needed something. But that wasn’t payment, it wasn’t her job, and now she was suffering.

The transcription site she freelanced for had some available work so she got stuck in as Dan was at a pre media day event, headphones on as she typed and double checked what she’d written. Every little helped.

Em didn’t realise she’d fallen asleep, but she woke up to Dan shaking her arm, her head on the keyboard. She’d at least submitted her work, but she shot up and glared at Dan.

“Huh? What’s going on?”

“I’m just back, I thought you were coming to the sponsor gala tonight? You able to get ready?”

“Yeah, sure.”

It was easy to smile as she stood on Dan’s arm and listened to weird Russians talk to her. But he kept a solid grasp as she nodded towards Egle Hulkenberg, the two women commiserating silently about being there. All she could think was the wealth in this room could fix all her issues, could pay her rent for a year. Dan would do it if she asked but her pride wouldn’t let her. He was her friend. She couldn’t ask him to do that. So she smiled and nodded and ignored the shiver going up her spine as shots of vodka were handed to her, a polite “cheers” as she took the first one, swapping the rest for water. Finally they could go back and curl up before Dan had to do media day the next morning.

She was up ahead of him, one of her long term clients reaching out with some extra work. The timezone difference from the US meant that she received it after she’d gone to bed so she sat at the desk in Dan’s suite while she got to work. An arm on her shoulder scared her, making her jump.

“What is your problem?!” Dan looked like he’d been stung. “I’m sorry, sorry. Just stressed. That’s all. What’re you up to?”

“Seeing if you were getting ready for the paddock, I’m getting a shower. Want one after me?”

“Yeah, please.”

Before Dan came out she checked her bank balance yet again, wishing there was extra cash in there. The numbers were unchanged, Em swapping her tab back before going to shower. The paddock probably wasn’t where she was going, but she’d be clean and get through this work quicker if she felt better. When she came back out with her hair wrapped up, Dan was at her seat and her bank webpage was up.

“What the fuck Dan? What’re you doing looking at my bank?” The idea that he could see how much stress she was under was humiliating. She’d always been able to look after herself. Always.

“Why haven’t you been paid? We have a contract. I know Blake gets paid the fifteenth and the last, you’re missing two pay cheques. Why didn’t he pay you?”

“What are you talking about?” She tried to calm down, pulling her underwear on and not caring that Dan was watching.

“The amount of work you do, why haven’t you been paid? I thought Blake brought you on staff?”

“I’m a freelancer, Dan. A freelancer who hasn’t worked in four weeks and didn’t have enough savings as it was. I don’t work for you or Blake.” She watched his face change, for the first time in a year not able to read him immediately.

“Emmy…no. Blake was…fuck. You’ve been working with him, working with Michael. You’ve been planning my schedules. Of course you need to be paid.” Dan was genuinely upset, pulling her into a hug and pressing a kiss to her shoulder. “I honestly thought you were. I’m gonna fix it.”

“I don’t want to come in between you and the boys.” It was her biggest fear. That she’d arrive and be friends and her and Dan would stop sleeping together and she’d lose everything. That it would all be broken. She was content to be on the outside if that was what could happen.

“I’ll talk to them. But you’re getting paid for everything you’ve done already. Whatever your rates are, you tell me. And you’re getting extra for not getting paid sooner.”

She held onto Dan, wanting to just stay in that little world of the two of them. Working officially for Dan was terrifying. She was putting all her eggs in his basket. But just maybe this could work out for her.

yeowch. i was hoping it'd say something like "this is about byler", to which that response ("no") teeeechnically wouldn't be a lie — since byler is the name for them as a couple, and they said outright that this isn't about one.

but alas.

the little delusional byler in my head tells me that friends don't lie but showrunners do, and there is a bit of hope left there, but among other ideas one i like is that this could be a note from terry ives to el (x), considering the significance of the date outside of just will (it's the date of el's escape from the lab, i think).

but then there's the tweet i usually see omitted from posts i see about this message (and one i was going to omit myself but just now noticed before clicking post):

this is giving me phone call cutting out mid word rather than a written, redacted note, but who knows? certainly not me. i know nothing anymore tbh

another thing to mention is that these were posted in october 2019, so take them with a grain of salt, but then again — season 4 was announced with a teaser on 30th september 2019 (FLASH WARNING!!!). a teaser that included allusions to several plot points that made it to the final cut of season 4 (the logo recreated with vines resembling the creel house, the grandfather clock, the slogan "we're not in hawkins anymore" relating to the cali crew and el in nevada). it's pretty possible they already knew about the paintings, the letters, etc.

Back in December of 2019, before COVID hit and the entire world shifted, my city held a holiday event for the children in the area who may not receive a whole lot of gifts. I volunteered without a second thought to go with, because I was new to the campus and I would get to spend more time with the munchkins and get to know them better.

There was a little girl who was brought there, we'll call her E, that I knew I would need to keep an eye on. I noticed on the first day of school, which was both mine and hers at that campus, that she may need some additional support, the kind of support that I can provide. And she may need that support in such a big, busy place. I was right, because she got very overwhelmed and a little bit scared with so many people around her, and stuck close to me.

E got super sleepy at one point when we were all sitting down listening to a presentation, and she snuggled up to me and started falling asleep. I asked her if she wanted to sit in my lap, so she wouldn't fall off the chair, and she climbed up like she had known me her whole life. She did the biggest sigh for the tiniest girl, and said, "You know what would make this even better?"

"What?" I asked. I expected her to answer that she wished her parents were there, or maybe that there would be a magic show or a puppy. It was 2019, so maybe I was also expecting something about Frozen 2.

Instead, this pint sized little girl sighed deeply and said, "I wish John Cena were here."

She became my student not long after that, but then COVID hit and everything shifted drastically. She didn't rejoin my classroom (she was with a different teacher) until she started 3rd grade. In 4th grade, now that she had a handle on the classroom and I knew her learning style, I was excited to see her growth.

The problem was, she withdrew along with her whole family in late September of last year. I was shattered. She and her siblings meant a lot to me, as I had worked closely with her mother to ensure that all the kiddos got the support they needed to succeed. And now they were gone. I think I posted it very vaguely here, but it broke my heart.

Imagine the utter joy I felt when we saw that they re-enrolled for this school year. My little girl came back to my school, and she's doing a great job in my classroom. She's in 5th grade now, and much taller than she was when I first met her as a 6-year-old, but she connected back into my classroom like she never left.

Today, we were getting ready to transition to a new lesson, and she gleefully said, out of nowhere, "Last night I watched John Cena get destroyed on Raw."

Oh how the times change, but also, how they stay the same.

omg this question is JUICY. strap in yall im telling you guys the tale of the insane girl i liked in freshman year of high school whose antics landed me in therapy for like the past 4 years

okay so we met online thru the bts fandom. she lived 2 hours away from me and we had a 2 year age difference (i was 15 she was 17)

the first ?!!?!? thing about her was that she was writing like INSANE bts porn fanfic (and i mean insane like. everything she published had at least one ao3 content warning on it) despite being underage. i learned about this in like april 2018 but i was too head over heels for her to care. in june 2018 we finally met irl and went to a science museum and she told me about some of the insane shit she was writing IN THE FOOD COURT while i was trying to eat a shitty subway sandwich. like wow

anyway summer passes and we have a bunch of relationship drama. im not getting into it too much (ive talked enough about it in therapy LOL) but we didnt date, it was an unrequited love thing where she kinda just exploited me for validation cus she was super depressed. anyway at some point we start talking less but she sends me her tumblr discourse blog. and then in september 2018 i found out she blocked me from it so i checked why and SHE HAD TURNED INTO A FULL-ON TERF while pretending she was still cool with our basically all-trans friend group. so naturally i show everyone else and we kick her out of all our gcs. at some point after that she also detransitions (she was a trans guy before which was why i liked her. cus im gay)

so i dont talk to her at all after that because why would i. technically i sent her an apology for something that id fucked up on but that wasnt like... a normal friend conversation yknow. and i assumed that she had figured out that she fucked my whole shit up and i wanted nothing to do with her. but APPARENTLY NOT because in august 2019 i woke up one day with several messages from her on twitter where she was like "omg this new hurricane made me think of you (we both live in florida and this was when hurricane dorian hit us) ^___^ how have you been?? im doing so good im in [MY SISTER'S COLLEGE] for biology and having a great time"

needless to say i was flabbergasted. im pretty sure i had literally woken up from a nightmare ABOUT HER that day and now i had to deal with shaking with anxiety so bad that i could barely talk to my mom over breakfast. i initially tried to be nice and be like "haha wow i havent heard from you in a long time... ummmm if you see me on your campus while im visiting my sister please dont talk to me". but then i went to therapy that night and left mad as hell so the next day i told her off and was basically like "i want nothing to do with you and if you talk to me again ill throw rocks at you". and that was the last time i talked to her

last i heard about her online she had been run off of insane bts porn twitter for being a terf. then she started writing insane porn about figure skaters and got run off of THAT twitter circle too. i hope she never knows peace again god bless

'Tis now February...

Disney stills plans, per their latest release schedule update, to release a Walt Disney Animation Studios movie on Thanksgiving week later this year...

I also happen to know that at least one person has started animating on this movie, as of this past month or so...

So, I think... Yeah... We probably still are getting a WDAS movie in November of this year... Even though it's February, and they still haven't told us - officially - what this movie even is. Usually, we know these things in at least a year in advance. The extreme end of this is DreamWorks' hasty rollout of their RUBY GILLMAN, TEENAGE KRAKEN. Where they said *nothing* about the movie's existence until 3 1/2 months before release. The movie itself, the poster, and the trailer. All in one go. Unfortunately, it wasn't a 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE situation, the movie lost a lot of money for DreamWorks and is one of their lowest-earning movies period.

I don't think WDAS will cut it *that* close, but I suspect we should hear something pretty soon? The company as a whole doesn't have a mainline movie out until THE FIRST OMEN in April, so they have time to at least tell us what's up? They're running a little late on at least announcing that this movie *exists*. I mean, the lot of us know it does because that's how these things work, but the public doesn't. We only know that a cluster of movies that are being directed by Suzi Yoonessi, Josie Trinidad, and Marc Smith have been in the works for years. So in a way, the next one has been announced? But not really? Typically, we get some kind of confirmation on a movie that fills the slot... About a year in advance. For example, WISH was announced in September 2022, and the movie was released this past November.

Regardless of how poorly STRANGE WORLD and WISH performed, the latter critically... I was initially under the impression that WDAS was going to have one of those "what should we be doing?" episodes whenever a string of movies fail at the box office, *or* if morale is low. A new movie wasn't announced, so I figured... Yeah, they might skip this year and re-evaluate their movie slate?

After all, Mark Henn recently called it quits and remarked that he - once one of the remaining 2D animators at the studio - wasn't doing anything "meaningful" in his final years there as a full-time animator. He's sticking around, somewhat, for a short film that producer Clark Spencer is a champion of... But that's about it. So many other people have departed either during current CCO Jennifer Lee's leadership, or during John Lasseter's leadership... Couple that with the last two movies not doing great, and that's not really a good look for this 100-year-old studio. And usually studios stop and evaluate when stuff happens. Sometimes it just means making different movies, other times it's more drastic and it unfairly affects the staff... But usually, something happens.

Luckily, a ZOOTOPIA sequel and a few more FROZEN flicks are there as a safety net, and I wouldn't put it past them to announce more sequels (ENCANTO seems likelier, and MOANA as well, given how well that movie regularly does on streaming Top 10s year by year)... but originals will always be important at these studios. Even the studios that are criticized for making too many sequels (like Illumination) still need a new franchise to launch.

But... Yeah, it seems like everyone's staying the course? There have been swirling talks throughout fan circles, as per usual, with what will happen. "Does Jennifer Lee get fired?" "Do they delay the 2024 movie into 2025 and retool it?" "Is there a change in direction in what kind of movies they make?"

It doesn't seem to be? I get the sense that, whether this untitled fantasy movie is in good shape or not, it's coming. They're just gonna make it and meet the release date, apparently.

I mean, look at STRANGE WORLD. Director Don Hall pitched the film in early 2017 and development started thereafter, but in around mid-2019, he got yanked off of the movie to take over RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON. Which they finished around late 2020/early 2021, and it came out in March of that year... Meaning that once Don was done with RAYA, he had about a year and a half to return to STRANGE WORLD and get it ready for a 2022 theatrical release. Which he did. And for some observers, myself included, the movie was maybe a few drafts away from being better. The finished film feels very undercooked in its character work and worldbuilding, but that's just me speculating.

After all, remember how Pixar turned TOY STORY 2 completely around with less than a year to go? Turned out fantastic, despite the stress and the rushing. FROZEN was literally rewritten top to bottom within its release year! And people loved that movie, it made a billion and became a worldwide phenomenon! Sometimes the end product miraculously works on audiences, sometimes it doesn't. Maybe it doesn't matter, because to some 6-year-old out there, STRANGE WORLD rocked their world. It probably would've been one of my favorite movies at age 8, that's for sure. And it'll be a favorite of theirs once they're in college or something, it'll be a case of "This SLAPPED! Why did it flop 20 years ago???"

So, it looks like the movie is happening. I have heard from the trenches that the 2024 slot went to a fantasy tale set in the Middle East, presumably from director Suzi Yoonessi, who is of Iranian descent. Jennifer Lee stated in late 2019 that Yoonessi was directing a feature film for the studio, so if this is hers... They had five years to get this story together. Good sign, right? Should make that release date just fine, then!

The execution of it is what matters in the end, and looking at WISH's poor scores and blah legs domestically, it appears that this is WDAS' problem. WISH took about five years to come together, so there was plenty of time. What went wrong? This currently-untitled 2024 movie could've had all the time in the world to come together as a strong piece of storytelling and appeal to audiences, *but* if you execute it in a way that turns moviegoers away? You've got a problem. And when I read from some of the filmmakers/staffers that the studio brass regularly test screens early versions of these movies for toddlers, and then they cut lots of potentially good stuff that could've really worked because little Jimmy got scared? Couple that with so many talents leaving the place over the last few years? I kinda think that's the problem.

While FROZEN II, which suffered a lot of cuts and dumbing down because of test screenings, went and made over $1.4b worldwide... WISH lost a lot of money, yet it's still looking to become the studio's highest-earning movie since FROZEN II. Some four years ago... Possibly set to outgross the much-more beloved ENCANTO (which probably also suffered from needless focus group nonsense), a Delta/Omicron-era release which currently sits at $256m worldwide.

The studio is undoubtedly in a weird spot right now from my outsider perspective, and they appear to be meeting this one-a-year quota still. Curiously, some of Pixar's staff is to be laid off this year, staff that were involved with Disney+ projects like DUG DAYS and WIN OR LOSE. Disney Animation recently opened a Vancouver unit meant for Disney+ shows, like the upcoming MOANA series. IWAJU, which is a month away, was outsourced to Canadian house Cinesite. "WDAS Vancouver" still operating for now, despite the company reducing their focus on making stuff for Disney+. It would suck to see them close down just a few years after being set up, much like what happened to Pixar Canada over a decade ago.

So yeah... We'll learn soon, I believe, what's going on here. Speculation is always rampant when it comes to animation, and just the movies in general. You know, I came across a website that hasn't been updated since the mid-2000s. A site run by some dedicated animation fan, who collected pretty much all the major news articles on movies that were new at the time of the blog's operation: Stuff from FINDING NEMO to MADAGASCAR to BROTHER BEAR to ROBOTS... I spent quite some time reading through all of it, as I was becoming internet-aware at the time. And by looking at what was cited and sourced, this is all nothing new. There was so much speculation with all of those now-classic movies, and a lot of it was UTTER BULLSHIT. Like how FINDING NEMO was really gearing up to be Pixar's first flop, and it ended up being - for a period - the highest-grossing animated movie ever and an Oscar winner.

And I'm sure whatever is being cooked up about Untitled WDAS 2024 and many other productions today is also UTTER BULLSHIT. Hearing from the trenches is one thing, but there's lots of made up stuff, and there's probably some of it floating around now.

Anyways, all I know is, WDAS does this focus group thing with their movies, and people are leaving... But other than that, it appears that the new movie is still coming out this year. But things always change, so we shall see...

First of all idk what kind of training you think western superstars like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande had before debuting, but I assure you they didn't have to spend hours every day practicing dancing in formation to become successful.

If you're "worried they'll flop with the Korean crowd" they're not meant to be big in Korea. They're supposed to bring kpop concepts to the western market that's why the show is in english (not korean) + they're not just under jyp they're also signed to REPUBLIC RECORDS aka the same as all of these guys

Thirdly you know this is just the process of picking who will be trained to debut, right? Rn They're mostly testing who's got the attitude (bc idol life is brutal) and who's capable of improvement. They get more training during and after the boot camp, they're aged 13-17 like most trainees when they enter the trainee process.

Saying stuff like "they're not already perfect (⁠눈⁠‸⁠눈⁠) they suck" is like... dang do you think the trainees on normal survival shows are just born like that or something ?

They're probably not even going to debut yet. They're young. For nizi project, the survival show's filming started in September 2019 and began broadcasting shortly after the lineup was established, then the last episode was released in June 2020, but niziu only officially debuted in December 2020. And Niziu has in it some girls who were jyp trainees beforehand. AND the youngest idol to ever debut in jyp so far was 14- Gina and Kaylee are both younger (the auditions were open to ages 12-17) which leads me to believe the group will train for at least another year, and that was the plan to begin with.

Also and this shall be my final point, who tf are we netizens to say someone's gonna flop? I can't even walk into a 7/11 without getting the anxiety tingles and needing a 12 hour nap, and I'm 23. Can you imagine being one of these girls? These young stars who train every day for hours until their voice strains, in a foreign country with some girls they only just met that same year, filmed for the whole world to see as they perform in front of some super corp head in hopes he'll tell them to comere. Seriously fuck off

Hotter Than Hell

Dear Future Husband, 

82°.

It is 82° inside my apartment right now. 

The middle of a heat wave, 96° outside with a humidity of 93%, and our hvac unit decided to go kaput. 

Oh, yeah, and it was on Tisha B’Av. 

7am on Tisha B’Av morning, there was an awful grinding noise and the compressor just completely died. 

On Tisha B’Av. 

In the middle of a heat wave.

The unit is barely 3 years old. We got it brand new. For $8300. And this repair? Almost $1000. Ironically it’s not even the part that costs that much, it’s the coolant they need to add after replacing the part. 

I’m done with this crap. 

I listened to a shiur on Tisha B’Av about how we’re not supposed to be comfortable both in this galus and on Tisha B’Av, but this is beyond discomfort. This is dangerous. 

And it’s always something! I have no time to just stop and be and think because I’m constantly bogged down with this crap. 

Since we moved into this building like 8 years ago, it has been non-stop with the HVAC insanity. I just checked my messages - August 2016, July 2017, July 2018, October 2019 were all dates that we had major HVAC problems. Finally got the unit replaced September 2020 and now this. 

I understand that struggle is important for growth. But there are two different types of struggle - the first is the kind of strain you put on your muscles that leads to muscle development. The second is constant, never-ending, cortisol-inducing trauma that does not lead to growth and in fact impedes it. 

The second is my life. My entire life. I’ve never had a minute of reprieve from any of this crap and I’m just done. 

I’ve gotten barely 8 hours of sleep the last two days. I’m dehydrated but too nauseas to drink. 

This is not struggle that leads to growth. 

This is suffocating. 

Hoping you’ve got it better wherever you are.

Update: We were able to borrow two free-standing a/c units for Shabbos. One is going in the kitchen, the other in MotherLivelyHeart’s room. 

Remind me again whose ceiling is open to the elements and whose room is essentially the same temperature inside as it is outside? Mine? Oh, right. But is there a reprieve for me? No, of course not. 

The replacement part for the HVAC should arrive in about 5 days. Joy. 

So if the local Misoskim needs the free-standing a/c units for someone sitting shiva, we have to give them, but for now let’s see if the inside temperature will actually drop back below 80° this Shabbos. 

And in case you were wondering, yes, my computer is overheating. Just like everything else.

I think the last time I actually picked up a book was when I last went through Elliot Bay Bookstore back in September and read An Amount of First Responder on my way home. Haven’t touched it since. I have too many fic tabs open to even begin to tell you what I’m currently reading there. I don’t think I could honestly give you a fandom.

Last song: Green Day’s American Idiot, I had a spotify pop-punk playlist going while I was cleaning earlier today.

Last series: I managed to watch one entire show! It was Nation of Broth on Netflix and was two actors and comic artist going around Korea and having soup. It was lovely and they made everything sound so good even if it was something I knew I’d actually dislike.

Last movie: ?????? I don’t know what the last movie I was able to finish was. I’m pretty sure I’ve finished something since 2020? But the last one I have any conscious memory of seeing was Knives Out when we went to see my MIL in Dec 2019 so.... I’ve definitely started tons since then, and I think I got halfway through MiB? Which felt like an accomplishment.

Currently working on: everything is currently marinating. I’ve got at least 5 Star Wars fics that I do want to finish at some point and if I shook my bookmarks and spreadsheets I’d probably find something I want to podfic. But as of right now, nothing is actively being worked on.

My Albums Of 2022 - Second Tier (pt. 2)

As previously explained, I've had to split these albums up into two posts because tumblr won't let me put more than ten links into one. This carries on where the previous one left off, recounting the second tier of my favourite albums of 2022 from July onwards. On we go!

July 

While Conway The Machine’s major label debut, God Don't Make Mistakes, got the better reception when it was released back in February, his collaboration with Big Ghost Ltd, What Has Been Blessed Cannot Be Cursed, was much more consistently enjoyable for me, if a little dense at times. There’s a gruesome feel that runs throughout the record and makes it heavy going to begin with, but Conway’s smart, edgy lyrics tend to lighten the mood and memorable tracks like "YBCM" and the Method Man guest spot "Scared To Death" meant that there were few albums more addictive released this year.

Trading in a kind of trippy soft-soul rumble, Mach-Hommy and The God Fahim's Dollar Menu 4 had a wonderfully dreamy sound, where the MCs who floated in and out of earshot were never quite as dominant vibes-wise as Fahim’s strange and hypnotic loops. But that's not to downgrade their contributions, as Mach and his guests' musings on food and hip-hop were always high quality, with beef of various kinds coming to the fore.

Your Old Droog (who also pops up memorably on Dollar Menu 4) released no less than six (count em!) EP/mini-albums this year and the quality rarely fell below excellent, increasingly placing him as one of my favourite underground MCs. Brooding funk beats, tenuous concepts and strikingly unusual reference points (what?!) were in full effect across every release, but the edgy bounce of Yodney Dangerfield was perhaps the best in a strong field.

If my first idea of Marina Allen was a kind of Shakin’ Judee Sill, the impression didn’t last long after hearing her excellent Centrifics album. While her voice has as much warmth and careworn experience as the 70s legends that she found herself compared to, there’s something unusual about the arrangements, especially the way they hang back and evolve rather than take the obvious route, which makes this album a slow burner and something worth returning to.

Rina Sawayama’s Hold The Girl spans genres effortlessly, shifting from pop-rock to club beats to wailing musical numbers and back again and then tying everything together in a bow of extreme melodrama. While there's a bit of deadwood in the middle, enough of it works (especially terrific single “This Hell") for it be worth sticking with for the long haul, as repeated plays bring ever more to the surface.

Armani Caesar is another fine talent from the Griselda stable and her fifth album The Liz 2 arrived late in the year with a wealth of diamond shimmer. Combining hard rhyming and opulent beats with a torrent of absolute filth in the lyrics, it was both hugely entertaining and offered a rare female angle on the bricks and hustle Griselda house style that made for an enlightening perspective shift.

Following on from 2019's slightly woolly Close It Quietly, Inner World Peace saw Frankie Cosmos return to the sweet but snappy guitar pop which made their name. While some of the more twisting elements of its predecessor remained, the immediacy of their best work was back to the fore, while Greta Klein’s bittersweet musings were as heartbreaking as ever

And that's it! More or less no one will read any of these posts, but it kept me occupied for a couple of weeks and that's what counts. I'd also be surprised if anyone actually listens to any of these records either (i only ever click on these things to see how many of the same albums I've got myself), but it would be nice to think otherwise I guess. They're all pretty good though: you really should do it, rare and unusual reader!

Didn’t Kripke say something about TB being a culturally impactful show or like it’s going to have an impact on society and media? And if he did I would say he was projecting big time. I saw one of your anons say that TB got political and it was bringing too much of the real world into tv, and I feel like that’s where a lot of shows go wrong. Many people use tv as an escapism from reality. We all know what’s going on in the real world and many don’t want to see that in tv. But I think the main reason why TB wasn’t significant is because Kripke relied on shock value and the last episode kinda made the season pointless. I agree with you about the fact that TB was shown a year ago so people forgot about it, however Euphoria premiered in June 2019 and the Emmys were September 2020, and Zendaya took home an Emmy that night and made history as well.

I think it all depends on the story you’re telling. Many shows have shock value and gore (Euphoria, Yellowjackets, TLOU) but if the plot is not compelling, there’s no good storyline, and shock value is the only thing you rely on, it’s not going to have the cultural impact in media and society, that I guess Kripke wants to have.

There are some successful shows rooted in reality, but I think they're advertised that way so viewers know what their getting in to and can watch when they have the extra space in their brain. Personally? On work days, I'm all about the escapism!

Regardless, the numbers for The Boys don't lie. It's just not something people want to rewatch. Not only is it topical, but it's very arc heavy, which can often discourage people from signing in and catching a favorite episode here or there.

Kripke may want another hit cultural hit cash cow like Supernatural, but it's just one of those shows that's popular while it's on and fades into obscurity when it's over.

A collection of some of my faovrite NoPixel drawings I’ve done a few years ago (+ one I redrew a few months back) :>

I’ll be explaining each of them below the “keep reading” line, so if ya wanna hear the context behind each of these, then be my guest uvu/

1st drawing (drawn April 15th 2019) - This one (along with a few others here) features a character named Yung Dab, who had at that point begun to disguise himself like this and call himself “The Gnome.” And yes, this was around the time that gnome meme was going around, so he did say “Ho ho ho, he he he” :’]

2nd drawing (drawn May 2nd 2019) - Just a bunch of sketches of different characters. Top right we got Alabaster Slim, to the right of him we got Yung Dab again, to the right and a bit above him we got... Jacob? I think? I’m beginning to forget certain characters’ names. Below that one we got Ziggy. On the bottom right we got Kiki, besides her we got a scuffed af Brenda, and the last guy is Dr. Isaac.

3rd drawing (first drawn May 29th 2019, then had more added June 1st) - Tldr; Yung Dab got caught doing uh... terrorism, and was locked up for life in max security. The lady is Jenny Hall, a detective that had a mixed relationship with the criminal that was saddened by the state he was in when he was locked up and would visit him sometimes.

4th drawing (drawn June 25th 2019) - Just a silly drawing of Irwin Dundee saying something the person roleplaying them- a streamer by the name of Whippy- would say to his chat when they spammed 7s or L_ or something else in his text-to-speech donos.

5th drawing (drawn September 26th 2019) - One of the stories I was glued to was the game of cat and mouse between Irwin Dundee and his brother- who Irwin had thought he killed, but was alive. It was very thrilling to watch to say the least. (And it was fun seeing a couple of these new cadets (not a real one, just an RP one) at the time be involved in the story as well)

6th drawing (drawn November 9th 2019) - Honestly, I just wanted to do sort of a redraw of the 3rd drawing in this list. Yeah.

7th drawing (drawn December 17th 2019) - At the time, there had been quite a few police character deaths on the server. And I just thought “why not draw them as animals? Kinda like they’re reincarnated or something.”

8th drawing (drawn December 29th 2019) - No, there wasn’t more police character deaths at this point, I just wanted to draw some of the new police characters as animals. It’s a trend with me wanting to draw humanoid characters as animals (or pokemon) instead sometimes o(-(

9th drawing (drawn January 6th 2020) - I don’t exactly remember why I drew these, but I think someone in a discord group (that’s related to one of these NoPixel streamers) mentioned Gary (guy with the biker helmet and sunglasses) being basically like moomin or something. So I drew Gary in one of those moomin comic panels that exists. And I also drew Reid (another biker) as Little My, ‘cause of how much of a lil’ shit both of them are.

10th drawing (January 17th 2020) - Just wanted to draw something for one of the police characters called Lauren Forcer (yes, the streamer behind her- Kiwo- gives a lot of her characters pun names and I love them).

11th drawing (drawn April 8th 2020) - A wedding photo I wanted to draw between Cat (lady to the right, who’s also a biker) and Paddy (guy to the left). As a side note; Paddy’s dressed in a dress and wig ‘cause he lost a bet with Cat, so he wore that to their wedding :’> Beautiful.

Last drawing (drawn Febuary 4th 2022) - I wanted to redraw the wedding photo, so I did uvu
