Creating any kind of art is interesting because when it comes to officially published books or TV shows or movies and the like, the creator(s) always has to pander to a certain audience or make sure the subject matter fits into a certain age range. Due to the commercialization of art everything has to be some kind of product to make a profit, but then you have fanart and fanfiction that’s basically like “the creator is the target audience, they just choose to post it online in case other random people might be interested in it too”

Hmm. I think when people complain about there not being enough feminine characters in media. I think they’re onto something but it’s not what they think it is.
There obviously isn’t a preponderance of butch women in like marvel movies or whatever—like basically every female character has perfectly styled hair and perfect subtle makeup and of course they always have shaved legs but like
None of these characters feel like. Authentically feminine? They’re not written as characters who enjoy hair or makeup, who have their own personal style as expressed through what they choose to wear they’re like—designed. They look the way they do because it’s just what’s considered attractive and it has nothing to do with who they are as people. So even tho basically every character is feminine they don’t feel like. Femme. Because they’re not doing it on purpose

if i ever made cryptid hunters into a show i know i have no control over how big or small a fandom it gets but if it gets a lot of attention i want it to be dndads level of fame. which is big!! but like the owl house for example

The things many parents teach their children do the exact opposite of preparing said child for adulthood.
Like. A non-zero number of us were taught as children never to invite ourselves over or invite ourselves in, like we’re fucking vampires or something. But that’s also the only way to include yourself in activities as an adult.
There have to be better ways to teach a child to be respectful of someone’s plans and not be presumptuous and pushy. There have to be better ways to express, “If you show up unannounced, they may not have the time or will to entertain you” and “Give people time to prepare for company” and “People get busy, so make plans in advance or they may be unable to hang out because they already have obligations.”
But— also— there’s something so… anti-community about the way this is taught with a simple, “Never invite yourself, wait to be invited.” You’ll wait forever.
