HII I saw your requests are open and you wanted um. Neji. Reqs. Hi. um.!! Could you write something of him with a reader thats not from a strong clan (They are well known but not for fighting or even field work) and doesn’t have a Kekkei Genkai or anything but is strong regardless,,, wields a sword and is great at fighting physically and all that. She teases him a lot and gets not his nerves but it’s all affectionate! She does get underestimated a lot though. I’ve had this idea sitting in my head ever since I watched naruto,, saw team guy and fell in love they are my roman empire
Neji With an S/O Who Isn’t From a Prominent Clan
Idk if i capitalize titles right tbh. I forget how it’s done honestly. I don’t remember if “With” gets capitalized.
Anyways, thank you so much for your request!
This is a little harsh in the beginning. So WARNING! For asshole genin Neji.
No gender specified, but “beautiful” is used
An uneven number of shinobi graduating from the academy was so oddly unheard of that at first, you ended up training alone with some jonin who took pity on you.
And at first, Neji had said something to his team about that just being the fate of people like you. Destined to be alone and a failure.
No need to give you some chance for a big break in life, this would happen any way you put it.
Neji didn’t ever figure he’d be willing to die for you one day. (Maybe he’s not the character to say this for…)
He dreaded when Gai Sensei introduced you as a new teammate of team 3.
Of course Gai would go through the trouble of taking pity on a wimp like you. He should have expected no less.
Tenten was excited that you wielded a weapon, however.
And Rock Lee was excited to have a new teammate! Not to mention, you were beautiful. He was just a little smitten…
Overtime, he watched you train. And as Tenten marveled over how well off you were in your skills with your ninjato! (A ninjato is a straight sword, if you don’t know. Sasuke uses one)
And in the same way he thinks Rock Lee or Naruto are destined to never make it anywhere, he thinks the same of you.
After the chunin exams and the Konoha crush, he begins to think differently of you. He thinks differently of himself, Rock Lee, and Naruto as well. Even Lady Hinata.
Overall, he becomes more pleasant to be around. And you both start to talk a bit more often.
Soon he fines Lee’s insistence on flirting with you so openly is annoying, and not just because he won’t shut up anymore, but now it’s that he’s jealous.
He’s jealous?
He’s jealous.
And when he watches you fight while on missions, he’s got a different way of looking at you.
Maybe somebody with no Kekkei Genkai and no prominent clan can really make it. Maybe you aren’t destined for failure. Maybe that challenge is just something you can overcome, become stronger.
And you have.
I think being with him would be a classic case of you fell first, he fell harder.
You didn’t fall immediately. You were very sweet, but anybody with a brain knew Neji was a total asshole. Even if you were rather nice to him, you didn’t have eyes for him beyond thinking he was pretty for a guy.
So once he starts to be nicer, you quickly realize he’s not just visually your type. You really like the guy.
It takes him a couple years to fully realize he fell for you.
And a bit longer to realize Lee, as much as he cares for him, is testing his patience asking you out. When will he give up?
So he realizes, if he keeps quiet, are you gonna give in and let Lee have a chance with your heart?
So he ends up asking you out on a date after pulling you off to the side. Making sure you were out of earshot from anybody, especially your team.
You both keep it silent from Tenten, Gai, and Lee. Anybody really. For a while.
He wonders how none of them notice the way you tease him more than the others. The way you’re just a bit too touchy with him. (Tenten noticed, but she keeps her mouth shut for a while)
The way you insist on braiding his hair or tying it up for him before training or something to get it out of his way.
Or just beg him to let you braid it for fun. No real reason.
Usually he rolls his eyes, groans, and says no. Firmly. But he’s not so firm with you.
He looks so pretty with his braided hair. Let’s just say that.
Until finally Neji snaps a little bit at Lee, “When will you realize, y/n has a boyfriend, Lee.”
Lee’s eyes go wide, and he’s visibly upset. But soon his brows just furrow a bit as he exclaims “WAIT, WHO??”
Neji realizes his mistake, but he’s not ashamed of you. So maybe it is time to say something. So he informs Lee, and the rest of the over enthusiastic team, that he is, in fact, your boyfriend.
He’s actually so proud of your skills.
He’s not the type to show you off by PDA, but he will smirk and look all smug when somebody compliments you or you do something awesome.
And when the clan’s branch system gets dismantled, eventually he starts figuring your name would sound real nice with Hyuga as a family name.

Note
I think something a lot of fans of Anakin tend to forget about him is that his story is told and looked at in reverse: the effect of his actions (Vader and the Empire) were shown an written before the cause (him being a Jedi and then falling). Vader, the irredeemable monster, being forgiven by Luke, is supposed to be a statement on Luke’s character, not Anakin’s. Vader isn’t post Anakin, Anakin is pre-Vader. Framing him like that, it’s suddenly clear just how flawed and terrible Anakin was even before he took a nosedive off the diving board of common sense (if he was ever on it)
The redemption that so many fans want to give Vader, then, is framed in film less as Vader realizing he’s wrong and doing a 180. It’s Luke recognizing how close he is to becoming Vader, choosing a better path, and getting tortured for it. Honestly, as far as Vader’s actual redemptive moment, it’s a fairytale moment of “death equals redemption” that holds up in the narrative of Luke’s story, but wouldn’t actually accomplish anything for Vader.
All that to say… Anakin should be recognized as being Pre-Vader, and if someone wants to do a fixit good ending story with him they either need to kill him off or spend a LOT of time getting him to actually recognize his failures and then turn away from them.
(Unfortunately, that’s a LOT of *work*, so most people just woobify him and call it a day. Thank you for your work of correcting this misunderstanding, and sorry for the long ask 😅)
In fairness, Lucas had a pretty good amount of the story from the Prequels WRITTEN already, he just ended up having to make the story in reverse, which is why there's references to Anakin having been a Jedi who fell and the Clone War. But most of it is just that... references. We ARE focused on Luke's story and so Anakin's background is there to, as you say, highlight LUKE'S choices and struggles and triumphs. We never find out why Anakin did the things he did in the OT (aside from Obi-Wan's comments about his own arrogance in trying to train Anakin which the Prequels retconned anyway), so Anakin's choices are a reflection on Luke more than anything else because Luke is the character we actually know.
And... yeah. Anakin's redemption is difficult for me because I get why it happened the way it did in the OT. Anakin's biggest crimes within the context of JUST what we see in the Original Trilogy are against Luke himself (chopping off the arm, killing Obi-Wan) and so the fact that he dies by saving Luke means he's fairly directly addressed those crimes and made amends for them. He can die having fixed those mistakes and forgiven by the person he's hurt the most. It works. But adding in the Prequels means now there's the Tuskens he murdered, Padme who he manipulates and betrays, the Republic he's dismantled, and the Jedi Order that he betrays and genocides (and adding in TCW means we can also include the clones that he betrays and enslaves). And now all of the sudden there's a LOT more that we have directly seen him do that needs to be redeemed and a lot more amends he needs to make and a lot more people whose forgiveness he doesn't have and will likely never get. There's a lot of things that killing Palpatine can never and will never fix or undo. It doesn't directly address almost ANY of those sins. And so this sudden redemption via death stops feeling so satisfying because it just... doesn't actually mean anything in the face of what we've now seen him do.
Like you say, it holds up if you just look at Luke's narrative, but it falls apart when you look at Anakin's own.
Redeeming Anakin while taking into account everything he has done over the Prequels, TCW, Rebels, the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, and anything else that's been written for him in other media would be a difficult story to write. It WOULD take a lot of time, he may never actually completely redeem himself for what he's done because he may never truly be able to let go of some of those fears or some of his guilt and grief. He may never quite lose the instinct to react to things with violence. It SHOULD be messy and complicated, but that's not always the most satisfying story to write or even to read, so that's where we end up with woobified Anakin who just gets to do one slightly goodish thing and call it a day.

Day 4: Harry Du Bois Gets a Clue
Prompt: Learn Fandom: Disco Elysium Pairing: Harry Du Bois/Kim Kitsuragi Word count: 796 Summary: YOU - Wait, you have a boyfriend? read on AO3 instead
for @fluffyfebruary
DESK OF HARRIER DU BOIS - Spilled coffee streams down the side of your desk, drips from paperwork that is due to be processed in only a few hours. The papers are fully soaked now, however. Along with your badge and the end of your tie.
PERCEPTION [Easy: Success] - There is someone standing behind you, watching the coffee spread over the floor.
JEAN VICQUEMARE - "Oh, nice. I was thinking your workstation was getting too neat. Only right that a fucking mess gets to wallow in his own disaster."
YOU - "You know what? This is the end for me."
JEAN VICQUEMARE - "Don't be an idiot. If you were going to die, you would have done it already."
YOU - "No, I really think this time is the one. Each day only brings new torment."
VOLITION - It does feel bad, but you might be exaggerating. You're already thinking about where you're going to find a mop and a cloth to clean this mess.
JEAN VICQUEMARE - "No, absolutely. You're right. Just end it, Dick Mullen! It's not like your boyfriend would have anything to say about it-- then again I wouldn't put it past you to forget that when you take the shot."
LOGIC [Easy: Failure] - Boyfriend?
YOU - "Boyfriend?"
JEAN VICQUEMARE - "I am not doing this with you, you prick. Fuck off." He strides away.
ESPRIT DE CORPS [Easy: Success] - Since you've been back from Martinaise in one piece (minus some core memories), you might have laid it on kind of thick one or two times. Things like 'Jean, help me file these reports, I don't know where anything is because I have amnesia.' and 'Jules, can you call Requisitions for me, I don't know the number because I have amnesia." You suspect, no-- you know your amnesia is getting on everyone's nerves.
EMPATHY - He's a little worried about you, anyway. That's probably why he mentioned your boyfriend.
PAIN THRESHOLD [Challenging: Failure]- Wait a damn minute. Back to the boyfriend thing. Did you forget about him? Was he swept away in the flood of booze and amphetamines, along with everything else? You're getting a sick feeling in your stomach.
PERCEPTION - At that very moment, you see your partner. He just walked in from the snow, his hat peppered with snowflakes. He makes eye contact.
ELECTRO-CHEMISTRY [Easy: Success] - Your stupid heart beats a little off tempo.
AUTHORITY [Medium: Success]- Kim always knows what to do. Ask Kim about this.
KIM KITSURAGI - The lieutenant comes closer, unwinding his long scarf and removing his hat. He gives you a small smile as he sits down across from you.
KIM KITSURAGI - "Good morning, detective."
YOU - "Good morning."
INLAND EMPIRE - You shouldn't rush into questioning him. Just be friendly, first.
YOU - "So, Jean said I have a boyfriend."
KIM KITSURAGI - "He did?" One eyebrow is lifted high on his face.
YOU - "I spilled my coffee all over my desk, that's why he brought it up."
KIM KITSURAGI - "Okay," he says, sounding unsure but still smiling at you. "I don't mind. I know we haven't talked about it precisely and 'boyfriend' is perhaps a tad puéril… but it's good enough for most people in relationships."
YOU - You have no idea what he's talking about.
PHYSICAL INSTRUMENT - Don't you? Don't you feel that, champ?
ESPRIT DE CORPS [Challenging: Success] - Kim is looking at you with humor, seeming to expect you to take your time. Suddenly, it's very clear: Kim Kitsuragi is your boyfriend.
ELECTRO-CHEMISTRY [Medium: Success]- YEAH! YES! Holy shit, do you know what this means? Boyfriends make out, big dog! They do more than that. They touch each other, Harry. Tell Kim you want to touch him, right now. Maybe you can convince him to do it on your desk.
VOLITION - Do not do that. You're at work, don't embarrass yourself.
LOGIC - Your desk is covered in coffee.
DRAMA - But what if he said yes, my lord? Think of the spectacle-- the other officers would know then, wouldn't they? They would all know that Kim Kitsuragi belongs to you.
YOU - "Gah."
KIM KITSURAGI - He looks on the verge of laughter. His eyes are folded up in mirth behind his glasses.
KIM KITSURAGI - "Come over again tonight. I'm cooking."
ELECTRO-CHEMISTRY [Godly: Success]- Ask if you should bring your pajamas.
YOU - "Should I bring my pajamas?"
KIM KITSURAGI - He can't resist chuckling softly at the look on your face.
ENCYCLOPEDIA - You're certain you know the face you're making. It's a terribly fond one, with a heavy flavor of awe. You look like someone just handed you a warm puppy.
KIM KITSURAGI - "I would like that."

Golden Wildfire Ch 14
Almost done guys. I can stick with it.
STORY
Oh no, The Empire is in danger. Anyways . . .
They're all shocked Edelgard is asking for help because she's putting her in debt to them.
Haha, they're considering just leaving her there and letting the Empire die. Lorenz came up with it. Based.
I know Claude will go bail her out, which is really stupid for a guy who claims he wants to end the war.
So . . . how does killing Rhea and sparing Edelgard cause the least amount of bloodshed? I knew that's what was going to happen, but it makes no sense. Claude even admitted he knows that Edelgard doesn't give a shit, she wants to conquer Rhea or no Rhea.
I really fail to see how on earth this is ending in 2 chapters. Unless Edelgard is so grateful to Claude she just gives up her ambitions? And Dimitri is equally OOC also suddenly gives a shit about what Claude thinks??
I've actually LOVED how they're written Edelgard and Dimitri in Hopes so far, and if GW ruins that with its shit writing I'm gonna be pissed.
Edelgard better not turn into some soft sissy who is all "oh, you saved me, Claude, now I'm going to play nice and make big eyes at you! Now that Rhea's dead and you did something nice, I'm going to give up the most core part of my character." Double gross if it's implied that she's flustered by his good looks.
And Dimitri better not not be pissed off that Claude invaded him for no reason and be like "You were so right, I wanted Rhea gone this whole time, thank you for saving me from her, please ignore Sylvain stewing in the corner, he'll just get over that you murdered his dad, just like I suddenly don't care how you murdered my citizens!"
If that happens, I'm calling this Claude's bizarre fanfic where he thinks his masterminded Edelgard and Dimitri so hard that now they're both hard for him no matter how OOC that makes them or how stupid Claude's been this whole time.
CAMP/SIDE MAPS
Haha, Shamir doesn't want to help the Empire. She wants revenge against them for the war with Dagda lol.
I don't think Holst has had an interesting thing to say in this entire game.
Oh yeah, I forgot. In GW and SB we're saving Bernie's father and helping him maintain religious power. Only in AG is he the enemy we're replacing. I swear, did nobody look at this and wonder if they made the Blue Lions unambiguously the only good guys?
Haha, right after I wrote this, some NPC was like wtf are we doing putting an Imperial noble in charge of the Monastery and religion?
Meanwhile, Lorenz is like, if we just let Edelgard die, the war ends right. But they must go save her because they're former classmates! For, like, a month! And Claude's like, Dimitri is too. And then crickets. I swear to God GW is borderline self-aware of how reaching and desperate the writing is to have Claude want to join the "I want to suck Edelgard's toes" gang for no logical reason.
Ouch, someone just compared Claude to Hubert. Like, I love Hubert, but he is NOT someone I want to be compared to.
I forget how boring GW is to play. Lorenz takes no damage from anything, so I just mash buttons. He isn't particularly strong either, so he's not nearly as fun to play as Dimitri and Hubert are with their ridiculous strength and magic stats, respectively.
So if I ever replay GW (lol, sure /s), I would def not pick Lorenz again. Lysithea seems like a way more fun character more suited for my play style but she's too far behind with class unlocks and etc . . .
Haha, Shez is like "if I ended up on another side, they would've been suspicious of my powers and thought I was an enemy" - side-eyeing Edelgard and SB.
Lamo, where did Claude get the idea that the church doesn't like people from other places or that aren't religious? Last time I checked, they didn't care?
Lamo, Shez is saying she might just leave Claude when the war ends. Same, Shez, same.
I had to fight Gustave :( And after that Sylvain :(
Guys, I'm feeding Claude recipes he dislikes. I've run out of supports to grind this round so . . .
I did the same to Holst too, because fuck you too, Holst
I'm giving my merc whistle to Lorenz. He basically did everything this route. And ohhhhh, he's right in front of Claude and Hilda too, haha. That means they're going to watch me give Lorenz a present and none for them.
And now to dump every stat boost on Lorenz too. I literally use no one else unless I absolutely have too. Hubert and Dimitri will get the same treatment. Probably also the 2 getting my merc whistle too. Which is hilarious since Hubert is pretty openly hostile to Shez.
SHEZ & CLAUDE A
It's funny. In SB, no one trusts Shez. In GW, Shez doesn't trust Claude. In AG, Shez . . . yep.
Wait, whut? Shez is like "we need to end the church to end the war." And Claude is like "right, because they they can try something again." My brother in Sothis, what the fuck? Did he just forget that Edelgard started the war? Rhea didn't do shit.
Also, didn't Claude say earlier he knows the church is just an excuse for Edelgard to make a land grab? Did he magically forget that?
SHEZ & BALTHUS B
Don't remember if I saw this yet.
Balthus wants to make a bet on battle. Shez doesn't want to.
Balthus likes to live on the edge and adding a bet makes battle more fun. Shez disagrees.
SHEZ & HAPI B
Still don't remember if I saw this or not. But it's another support about Shez's mysterious origins that go absolutely no where.
And I have a strong suspicion that we won't actually learn anything about who Shez really is unless her mom is like Arundel or something.
I think I may have seen this before. But Shez has more than one support like this so . . .
CLAUDE & MARIANNE A
Weird. They only have 1 support and its A.
Marianne gets a letter that implies that he wants Marianne to rule House Edmund and she's intimidated by it.
Claude shares that he worries too.
Claude says Marianne needs more resolve.
Sorry, that was boring as fuck.
CLAUDE & LYSITHEA A
Lysithea has a message from her father, who's taken maybe the worst beating in this game.
Her father doesn't want to complain, but to thank him for ending TWSITD chaos.
Poor House Ordelia really does get the shit end of the stick.
Claude is worry that Lysithea works too hard.
Lysithea doesn't really listen.
CLAUDE & LEONIE B
Their only support.
The crops of the territories that are at war are suffering because armies are trampling fields.
Common people are mad at Claude because of the battle making them starve.
Glad this game is acknowledging, even a little, how it's poor people who get screwed over the most when nobles bicker.
Leonie admits she could care less about this war. Which just make her not being in AG (so far) weirder. Since she's probably one of the one who cares the least.
This is more interesting than I thought it was going to be, because it's about how the commoners suffer in war, and how Claude needs a common born perspective. So that makes Edelgard the only one who never asks common born people what they want - and the one thinking she has the right to decide everything for them.
CLAUDE & CONSTANCE C
Claude is interested in Constance's experiments
Constance invented a spell that can change hair color and style, which Claude wants to use to escape but not to be her first test subject
She gives him a hard and sharp style, like literally - he complains, she's not happy
I don't know if she turned it back or not, if she didn't I'm tempted to not view their B so Claude is stuck with silly, awful hair for his final chapters because then his looks will match his clown behavior
HILDA & IGNATZ B
Hilda doesn't recognize Ignatz without his glasses on. So . . . she's an idiot?
Ignatz is basically blind without glasses, yet forgot where he put them. So . . . he's an idiot too?
Hilda thinks he's hot without his glasses. I . . . question her taste.
IGNATZ & HAPI C
Hapi finds his sketch book and there's a picture of her with cats in there, and she's disturbed that someone drew her without telling her
She figured out that it's him
She's mad he lied, but liked the picture
And . . . the Chicago Carolina game is more entertaining than that was (who may be the 2 worst teams in the NFL, for those who don't know)
SHEZ & IGNATZ A
Aw, that's sweet of Ignatz. He's like, we talk too much about me, talk about you!
And Shez teases him about a crush, lamo.
Shez only has 2 dream options: I don't know or easy going mercenary life
Ignatz asks Shez to be a bodyguard ones he's done being a knight and going after his dreams
Shez says she'll charge a lot lamo
Claude & Constance B
Oh, right, the hair magic stuff.
Constance doesn't appreciate his lack of enthusiasm
She turned his hair frizzy and uneven, lamo - like a bird's nest, and honestly, deserved Claude, you've sucked this route
He has a beard too
LORENZ & IGNATZ A
Their only support, weird.
Lorenz didn't make much of Ignatz when they meant, but now is impressed.
The improvement it because Ignatz is painting in his free time, helping his mental health
Lorenz feels bad because he realizes Ignatz wants to be an artist, not a knight, like he assumed
Ingatz is still grateful towards Lorenz for giving him a purpose after the school closed and he felt directionless
RAPHAEL & MARIANNE B
Bummed they only have 1 support. I like their chain in Houses.
Marianne can't get a horse to the stable bc it's sick (the horse told her, Raphael doesn't seem to care that a horse talked to Marianne)
Raphael offers to get the horse to the stable by putting it in a cart
He lifted it, Marianne is impressed, but now her horse can get the medicine and rest needed
Dumb horse ate bad fruit, honestly, accurate, they're all secretly pigs in horse-shaped bodies
Raphael . . . also eats rotten food. So, I guess Dimitri has competition for who has the most iron stomach
See, this was cute too. Marianne just feels naturally open with him
RAPHAEL & LEONIE A
They're out of arrows and surrounded by wolves
I think Raphael beat them back with her bow
He credits her for making such a strong bow (it didn't break)
So now Leonie will keep making bows until there's one Raphael can't break, and Raphael will keep working on muscles so he can keep breaking them
MARIANNE & YURI B
Oh, God, Yuri's always so mean to people in the beginning of support chains. I wonder how on earth this is going to go . . .
Yuri takes her off guard and asks questions, which just makes her more guarded and feel judged.
Marianne assumes he hates animals and herself. Because she saw Yuri glaring at her once. Girl, you have issues, but I love you.
Understandably, Yuri's a bit confused.
Marianne keeps assuming things are her fault and apologizing, and Yuri keeps getting more and more annoyed until she runs off.
A lot of this support felt pretty random, but let's see where A goes.
MAIN BATTLE
This battle is titled . . . salvation. You know, that may be the most clever bit of writing in GW so far (as in the ONLY clever writing)
Haha, Edelgard is surrounded by the Kingdom and Rhea.
Even Holst is like, are you sure about this Claude?
I really don't understand the logic of rescuing Edelgard if Claud doesn't want war. Like, Claude acknowledged that Edelgard only used Rhea as an excuse for expansionism. He knows she's just going to find another excuse for war, so all he's doing is making her enemies weaker.
Ok, that's enough. I forget that applying any sort of logic to this plot line is pointless.
Cut scene is cool though. Lamo, is this like the 5th time Edelgard needed someone to rescue her in this game? She looked really pathetic in cut scenes in this game. Like, I don't even like her, and I'm annoyed because one of the things I did like was her being a bit of a badass, not always needing saving from Shez, Byleth, from assassins all the time, etc . . .
Guys, there's a save Monica side quest. Should I just . . . not? You know what? I'm going to have fun with this. I want to see what happens.
Fuck, Ingrid appeared :(
And now they want me to save Bernie's dad. This chapter is really "rescue the most fucking annoying characters" and "kill the best ones."
Thank FUCK, she retreated this time. I wouldn't been livid if they made me kill her twice for no reason.
OMG, again, lamo, Edelgard is useless this chapter. She keeps getting caught. That's the 3rd time in 1 chapter she's needed to get her ass saved by Claude and co.
Now I have to fight Dedue :( He's better not fucking die. This route isn't worth it. Edelgard called him Dimitri's most loyal retainer though.
Oh, thank God, he retreated.
Now I'm going to have to fight Dimitri, I'm sure :( I'm really fucking glad Lorenz can't take damage. I'd be shitting myself otherwise. He better retreat too.
Why can't we let Edelgard die, Claude? Wouldn't that fix all the problems?
Oh, Rhea! Fighting Rhea will actually be a little cool, since you never get to see her or use her.
Dimitri retreated at least.
WTF Claude? "I'm just determined to see what the world would look like without you." Idk, maybe Almyra??? The writers really gave Claude nothing with that line lamo.
Took Rhea out. She retreated too.
Now Byleth is here and I think she's dying for good this time. Feel a bit bad about not recruiting her. Claude doesn't deserve Byleth's support on this route, but she doesn't deserve to die either.
Cut scene time. I wonder what's considered more cannon, recruiting Byleth or not?
Also, isn't it thematic that you kill Sothis on routes where you oppose Rhea and side with Edelgard?
Arval's way too happy about this, lamo. Shez is bummed. Honestly, I think I ship Shez with Byleth the most.
Edelgard was so lame this chapter.
Claude tries rubbing it in Edelgard's face that she owes him, and she threatens not to honor the debt. Like, Claude, my boy, if this person is willing to turn on you because you teased her . . . that isn't an ally you want, but whatever.
Claude is like, can we not destroy Faergus. Edelgard's like, no.
"We never spared a thought for Dimitri's motivation." Uh, how about "stop killing my people you bloodthirsty idiots." Also, not surprised. These two really are idiots. They can't fathom why Dimitri's . . . defending himself.
Claude sounds so pathetic in this chapter. He's like, sooooo desperate to be like, remember I did you a favor, Edelgard, remember! Like she gives a single shit, lamo.

What does the word fae actually, specifically, mean in the marriage of the state AU? Because they’re not really a species, with faeries, elves, gnomes, and the deep folk all being fae/fae adjacent. Plus there doesn’t seem to be any fairy realm/feywild present in the AU, just the spring at most.
So like from a crystal cliffs, scientific perspective, what are they, what characterizes them, where do they come from?
Are faeries really animals at all or more creeperish (based on your creeper lore) or something else entirely? Can there be half faeries, with either elves or humans?
You’ve mentioned before they sort of dissolve when they die, so are they even totally physical, made of bones and fat and such?
What’s the deal with elves being half-fae, is there a biological-ish connection or decendantcy to/from faeries there? With half elves existing for sure, (hi gem) did humans and elves both from a common ancestor, or did one come from the other? Did the separation happen naturally, or was it like hybrids with the meddling of magic or spirits? (Or Aeor?) Are they maybe just totally unconnected, and being similar enough to have half elves just a handwavey/magic thing?
I love really getting into how fantasy world work and they’re history, so all of your Worldbuilding stuff has such a great hold over me, I love how deep you think into the day to day. I think that was the first period in this whole ask, lol. Sending a huge wall of vaguely related questions seems to be becoming a habit. Anyway, have a great day!
Hello! Sorry for the delay, IRL things kept happening!
And buckle up a bit because this is the one where the fact that I'm a massive Tolkien nerd really shows through, we're pulling heavily from the Silmarillion for this one. (Smajor did it first it is part of the canonical lore)
Also I have spent a long time (Since I was like, four years old. I was an extremely normal child and not autistic at all.) with a lot of versions and types of fairy tales, so I do sometimes forget exactly what knowledge of The Rules of the Genre people tend to be familiar with, so if something seems to be missing a few steps in the explanations please ask about it and I will do my best. Sometimes that might just be me pointing and being like "but that's the way it works" but I can try anyway XD
--
Basically, "Fae/Fae Adjacent" is both referring to a specific race, and is also the shorthand that I use to classify the Races That Came First. In Tolkien's work, you have the elves, who woke up an age before the first men. And by the time humanity even existed they'd had like, two wars and a massive migration. They are part of, I believe, the Second Theme of the Great Music, while men are part of the Third.
So when I say someone or a species is fae or kind of fae or any variation of that, it means that they are part of one of the races who have been on the Empires world longer, (several thousand years longer than the mortals) and share some of the characteristics of those races. (With one notable exception that I will get to)
These characteristics are mostly limited to longevity, of different flavors, and inherent abilities that would be classed as magical by mortals but that are usually very understated along the lines of having an exceptionally green thumb. I think I've said it in a previous post somewhere, maybe the Wool one, but Xornoth and Scott's elemental abilities are Very Unusual among elves and are a strong indication of the Divine meddling in their lives.
-
The Fae/Faeries who inhabit the Overgrown and are connected to the Spring, are the eldest surface-dwelling beings, and are the Actual Fae. They are most closely related to the Deep Folk, they just separated very early on and, as a species, they are incredibly responsive to environmental requirements and divergent evolution happened very quickly.
Fae are fully sentient. They are people, not animals, just Uncanny People.
The Overgrown and specifically the Spring's Grotto are a kind of Feywild. In that they are very heavily magical and tend to be difficult or impossible to find or navigate to anyone they don't want to be, and mortals in general. They don't tend to take up exactly the right amount of physical space they should. It's also kind of unclear if the fae have more of an influence over the environment or if it has an influence over them. (It's a little bit of both.) They tend to have a lot of variance, as individuals, though butterfly traits and cat traits are both fairly common, and Katherine specifically has both of those. These are less because of connections to said species and more environmental responses.
Some parts of the Overgrown are deliberately kept to be at least a little bit less hostile to visitors, mostly for diplomatic purposes, though visitors are rare for good reason.
(The other rulers, who tend to run in and out of Katherine's house with impunity, are something of an exception to this, and most of them have some level of magical connection to something or other that gives them at least a little bit of resistance or immunity to the surroundings. The primary exception to this is Fwhip, who has had to be extracted from Situations more than once by Gem or Katherine.)
There are also other Fae, besides the inhabitants of the Overgrown, the other three courts just have left. Whether that is just the geographical region or the specific plane of existence is fairly unclear. The Overgrown is home to the Spring Court, who are...not fully seelie or unseelie, though they tend towards seelie. (This does not mean they are truly friendly, or that they aren't dangerous)
-
Elves are younger than the Fae proper, though not by much. There used to be a lot more of them, covering the entire mountain range that Rivendell is only part of (this is totally not plot relevant at all :) ) and also some of what is now the edges of the Crystal Cliffs, the Grimlands, and the Spawn Lands. (Which would later become the place the first mortals woke up, thus its name and also status as a neutral location used for most meetings between empires.)
There were a few different peoples among the elves, though they have since been whittled down to two main surviving demographics, though the occasional traits do pop up from others from time to time. Both of these are mountain people, and are the ones that I shorthand as "owl elves" and "deer elves" or "mountaintop" and "lowlands and valleys" respectively, though these are simplifications and not entirely accurate tbh. They have two different, though related, languages. Xornoth and Scott are a mixture of both, which, while not super common in Rivendell, isn't unheard of either. Thus their wings and antlers combo.
Like the Fae, Elves as a species are fairly closely tied to and responsive to their environment, which is why despite the antlers and/or wings, they have a not undeserved reputation for stealth. (as opposed to the Fae, who do sometimes literally become part of the environment, Elves are just very good at blending into it.)
-
The Deep Folk, after they split off from the Fae and migrated under the surface, also evolved into a few different branches. Sirens are the one most well known to surface-dwellers, though there are few individuals left who can claim to be a full siren.
The Deep Folk intermingled with their mortal counterparts more than the land-based fae peoples, and so while the Sea Folk are for the most part mortal, some of them tend to be a little bit uncanny or have exceptionally long life-spans. This is incredibly normalized for them and the much stronger segregation between land fae and land mortals was a bit off-putting for a lot of the Sea Folk when they began interacting.
-
the Gnomes actually are not technically fae specifically because they are not native to this reality.
Shrub's description of her people and their own nature combined meant that she got classed as a fae race because she had enough in common, but she's not quite fae or mortal. The rules of their home dimension are a bit to the left of this worlds. The decision was mostly made based off of the depth of the connection that gnomes have with their environment, though as a rule they aren't especially long-lived or otherwise magical.
So Shrub isn't Fae, but they aren't Mortal either.
-
Allays and Vexes are about the same level of sentience as creepers. just less explosive. They grow from magic the same way creepers grow from the land. They're actually the same species, just different varieties.
--
The different Rates of Decay, for lack of a better phrasing have to do with the level of influence and connection to the environment. Also like, if Katherine, for example, were to die in the Spring Grotto, her body would basically disappear instantly; vs if she were to die in the End or the Nether, which are separate planes that are completely foreign to her Nature, her body would be perfectly preserved until it was returned to the Overworld. Even if it was thrown into the Void or the Lava Sea.
I think that answered most of the points? I would apologize for how long this is but I have a feeling you don't mind XD
If I did miss anything or if there are any follow up questions by all means ask them, whether in the notes, as a reblog, or my askbox.
Thank you, as always, for your asks. They are so much fun to answer!

about lyra erso, I think from a storytelling point of view I wasn’t so quick to jump about how illogical lyra's decision was because it not only set the tone for how dire the situation was, but also the idea of being the type of person that willingly goes into a suicide mission
You have to be stupid lol. The plan was jyn, lyra and saw would be safe while galen is once again taken. Imagine jyn letting cassian getting taken captive for the empire for her. Your child has been promised to be looked after by someone you trusted with your life. Ain’t no fucking way. I don’t think this is one of those fridge and forget things because it was more important to show that she was almost there to safety but literally chose not to. She didn’t barely escape their clutches. They had everything planned ahead of time and doesn’t that say even more that she turned around and wouldn’t take guaranteed personal safety over the chance of losing her cassian?
I absolutely agree it was foolish, reckless, dumb. Is this any less stupid than invading an imperial base with 10 people and actually finding the plans. Or being an imperial seeking agreement with a violent extremist who collects stormtrooper heads for sport. Or risking your life to go back for a criminal who's a loose end. These were options for these people and that's where I feel like the point about motherhood is against lyra when it's a little more exaggerated than it should. Should she not do what she believes is right because she is a mother? Because it’s not like any one of these people knew they were going to succeed, and the difference was that she was the one who didn’t. I just think there is a higher disproportion to the reaction of her seemingly putting her child at risk, when in the worst case she would be looked after by saw. She did in the end happen to fail her daughter. But would lyra not die soon anyway trying to do what was right because isn't that who she was?
So her as a person, I still think she's a fine character. And i’m fine with the path taken because it speaks to who she was and majorly influences the whole plot without completely erasing her.
This whole movie is literally a bunch of people going “trust me bro” and the other half being like “bro no.” Because people are crazy to believe in shit for reasons like what happened to lyra, but when even the smallest acts line up so perfectly, it’s maybe worth it. It's the point that you tried. Every one of rogue one died not knowing whatsoever if they were even successful. If ANY of it was worth it period. lyra was just the first member, because jyn had exactly her mother's mentality and passion when coming into scarif. And we know it was not only saw's influence because she had to hear galen’s actions, also motivated by lyra, for her to remember who she was.

I hope you're having a great year so far!
Can you please recommend any steter or sterek fics with bad friend/alpha Scott?
Thank you for everything you do for the fandom we're lucky to have you!
Yeah!

“There are no absolutes, Scott! No hard rights or hard wrongs! The world doesn’t fucking work that way and we can’t afford to think like that, because people are going to die! We signed up for that the moment we got involved with all this!”
“We? We?” Scott hisses. “Don’t you think you? Don’t forget that you’re the one who dragged us into that forest the night it all started, Stiles. So if it’s anyone’s fault, it’s yours.”

Just because Scott refuses to see the Argents for what they truly are - prejudiced serial killers sitting proudly on a mountain of innocent corpses - doesn't mean Stiles will. It's about time someone did something about the Argent Empire anyway, and what a coincidence - summer vacation is just around the corner.

Or, the one where Gerard Argent kidnapped the wrong fucking person to torture. Stiles has never subscribed to the policy of forgiving and forgetting anyway, not when razing the problem to the ground and salting the earth for good measure has always been a far better solution in the long run.
He doesn't expect to have company.

Look, Derek is the worst. Everyone knows that. Their fearless leader is a total and complete failwolf.
Which means the rest of them? Are kind of the worst too. They’re a ramshackle, slap dashed, sorry excuse for a pack that’s about a half second away from getting one of them killed. And this is a problem, because Stiles would really like to survive high school. Thanks.
Still, nobody deserves what Derek has gone through. Nobody.
And it’s about time somebody told him that.

Stiles would have never guessed that the star player of the lacrosse team and presumably the hottest guy in school who everyone wanted a piece of and one of his most hated bullies would turn out to be his soulmate.
Derek would never have dreamed that fate would be so cruel to pair him up with a freak like Stilinski.

9. For Dew and Anton? 👀
-🪶
(from this ask game)
9. Do you have a specific lyric or quote which you associate with your OC?
YEAH! i definitely have a lot for Anton, but not much for Dew honestly i don’t really know why
Anton:
“For what? For what? For what it's worth / If it was going to kill you boy, it would have by now / For what? For what? For what it's worth / There's no more looking back, it's looking up or looking down” (BlackBoxWarrior - OKULTRA) (these lyrics were literally the inspiration for Anton and TLLR in general!!)
“I might be the brain of evil / Bad things happen to good people / Good things happen to me” (Chemical Overreaction / Compound Fracture)
“What have I become? / Me sweetest friend / Everyone I know / Goes away in the end / You could have it all / My empire of dirt / I will let you down / I will make you hurt” (Hurt)
“If it’s an eye for an eye, then we all go blind / If it came to it, would you cross that line? / With the taste of the blood on your tongue like wine / And the weight of your crimes weighing on your mind” (Whose Eye Is It Anyway???)
Dew:
“I’ll take your word / Like a good friend should / If the earth should dry / May your dreams never die” and “You’ll find me / In a sea of dreams / Where no one cares about my words” (Sea of Dreams) (i have ALWAYS associated Dew with this song for some reason and i have no idea why lol)
“He was alone and happy to see someone new / He said it’s nice to spend the night with you / Nobody told me / It would be lonely” (Lonely)
“Wake from your sleep / The drying of your tears / Today, we escape / We escape” (Exit Music (For A Film))
i’m definitely forgetting something but yeah those are the ones i thought of at the top of my head! anyway here’s the TLLR playlist i made :3 it’s collaborative so anyone can feel free to add songs you think fit the characters! i def need more Dew songs in there

Some thoughts about the end of Jedi Survivor
Adding a cut because it’s long and obviously spoilers
I know the end of this game centered around Cal “embracing the darkness” but I don’t think he’ll fall to it in a third game. He’s not going to become a sith. It would actually be rather disrespectful of his character development so far and to Cere. In both games Cal has repeatedly seen what happens to those people who let the dark side take over. They forget themselves. They lose everything.
“This pain is yours. But it doesn’t define you, and you must not let it consume you.”
Merrin tells this to Kata, but it shows Cal while she’s saying it. This betrayal from Bode, the loss of his master again. It’s his pain, but if I know anything about Cal it’s that he’s a fighter. He’s going to fight through the pain. It’s not going to consume him. Plus he has Merrin and Greez and BD to help guide him back when it gets too hard to navigate the darkness on his own.
Cere’s force ghost tells Cal to “Guide her (Kata) through the darkness” Through it. They can’t avoid it but they also can’t get lost in it. She’s going to need help and so will Cal, but they have support.
Even Yoda knew of the power of the dark side he just didn’t let it control him.
Yes Cal can struggle with it, and he probably will in the third game, everyone struggles with darkness at times, but Cere taught him to overcome those feelings. He helped her overcome it in the first game and he connects to Cere via the force at the end of this game. Cal is a survivor, he’s not going to succumb to the dark side. His friends won’t let that happen. They have his back.
Bode had no one but himself. His daughter was too young to understand what was happening to her father. She lost her mother just as he lost his wife because of the Empire. At the end of the game on Tanalor Bode isn’t even with Kata. Bode might have been a survivor too, but he was alone. Cut off from his daughter and the light as he betrayed his former allies. The Mantis crew stands together. They are not alone.
At the end of the day I’m just saying Cal isn’t going to turn Evil and I certainly don’t think he’ll have to die or need to be killed off. (He’s the main character in a video game where the formula has been main story and then a ton of side quests for after I mean.. come on) Star Wars is about hope and if Cal loses himself completely then that hope is gone. It just doesn’t make sense for his character. Especially when he already worries he’ll become like the people he fights. That he’ll lose himself. Merrin said it best. Cal is stubborn but ambition doesn’t drive him. He genuinely cares about the fate of the galaxy and his friends, but he knows loss and pain are a part of life too. He is a true jedi at his core and in his heart. But most importantly he’s not facing the darkness alone.
I don’t even know if this makes sense, but this game gave me so many feelings and trying to articulate them is hard. So anyways there’s my two cents for now.

Seeing a lot of people debate the whole "been in this fight since I was six years old" thing
It's one of my absolute favorite lines in Rogue One, but never did I take that line to mean Cassian was actually physically fighting the empire since he was 6. I always took the line that Cassian was a product of the empire's doing, someone under their thumb, the circumstances of his life was because of the Empire. Part of the whole point of the argument, I believe, between Cassian and Jyn is they are both making assumptions about the lives they have lived. Jyn doesn't know what Cassian has been through and Cassian tries to say he's been in the fight since he was six, but Jyn's entire family was torn apart because of the Empire as well. He's also more attacking Jyn's whole attitude of "You can't see it if you don't look up" which I love that this show is adding so many layers to because of course we find Cassian felt a similar way, "You survived by running"
So, no I don't think the show has made any real contradiction to the infamous six years old line. Kassa in the flashbacks looks older than 6 and we'll probably find out (or maybe we won't and we can just piece it together from the flashbacks) that the mining accident that took away his parents happened when he was 6 and then we see him later on with his sister and the rest of the tribe when he's a little older. But now I think Cassian is not just talking about Rebellion vs. Empire, but oppression as a whole. "Suddenly the rebellion is real for you, some of us live it" That live it part. Cassian never had a choice, his family was taken away from him. In that, Cassian's words have even bigger weight because he's not just talking about a battle of Rebels vs. Empire, but an oppression that has always existed in the Galaxy. We even see this in the prequels, like Episode I with Anakin and his mother enslaved. This always existed in the galaxy, even before the empire.
But, Cassian is also being a hypocrite! Because we know that he himself turned his nose at rebellion. He's so focused on his own survival, because that's all he's known, but deep down, he feels like he wants to fight back but he doesn't know how to. He knows how to steal from the empire and spit in their food, but Luthen is showing him how to actually, really, rebel. Jyn and Cassian have always been very much alike, and it's hard to look in the mirror and see some ugly truths about yourself. I feel the show is def showing some of those comments he made to Jyn are also the harsh truths he can't admit about himself.
Jyn calls him out, saying he's no better than a Stormtrooper and he gets so offended because what he is doing for the rebellion is weighing on him. My boy Cassian has one mode and one mode only: Stress. Like any classic Star Wars character, his own failings haunt him and he can question if he's doing the right thing. When he's told to kill Galen Erso, we can see his uneasy feelings about being asked to murder, but he's going to do it anyway. So Jyn calls this out on him and he reacts the way he does. Then she uses his own line about Rebellions being built on hope, and it reminds him of why he's even here in the first place.
"Everything I did, I did for the rebellion. And every time I walked away from something I wanted to forget, I told myself it was for a cause I believed in. A cause that was worth it. Without that, we're lost"
Cassian comes clean here and is even admitting that some of the things Jyn said were true. I have also just been thriving over Cassian in this show saying the resistance to the empire is pointless and how we're slowly going to see him turn into the I did everything for the rebellion character.
Cassian may not have been picking up a gun and fighting for the rebellion at 6, but the opression that was around the Galaxy, even before The Empire was officially a thing, is something he has been fighting. And as depressing as it is, Luthen is right, Cassian will die fighting these bastards.
Anyway, I love that we can go back and forth on this one line and it hasn't devolved into people yelling about retcons or bad writing and instead has shown what that line and that scene meant to us and how prequel shows like this can have us recontextualize everything we thought we knew. I fucking love this show.

[You've got mail AU]
MingCheng | Mo Dao Zu Shi Cross-Over AU + cw: mention of suicide idea 19-05-2021
[#mingcheng you've got mail AU] (cw: maybe ooc nmj, age reverse, age gap, mention of sui.cide idea)
Jiang Cheng, who's the adviser in the Magistra office of lotus pier, has done so for many decades already and is tired of life, was ready to die at 40. but before doing so he wanted to tell his love for the pretty xxc, thinking that maybe finding a life partner could make him not await dying so he can be buried in his nice lot.
Sadly, xxc already has a (maybe two?) life partner, but he does direct him to the Peng Society, believing he could find a life partner in the same way he did with sl (and xy). adviser jiang is slightly unsure, but he does give it a try, going to the next city to meet up with the charming manager meng yao.
Adviser jiang who first nervously wanted to find a life partner now is collecting Pengornise (d!ck) picture that he is sent and has forgotten his want to die because of this. on the other end, General Nie Mingjue is keeping an iron grip on the northern border of the empire (please, let's forget that theoretically yunmeng and qingge are far from one another).
he is infatuated with his teacher [enter random original male character], but doesn't dare to do anything because he would dirty him. so he finds people who remind him of his teacher instead.
this is how he ends up interested in adviser jiang, as jc does look similar to his teacher (when you squint really hard and are blind). debut a relationship where jc is indeed happy to have such a great Pengornise, but also knows better than to love because of their social status (and past events, he knows better than to love so easily).
I could easily see nhs being man yue, a brother working with nmj, overworked a bit and scheming slightly in the back (especially to get his bro a good life partner).  lxc could be hei'er, one of nmj loyal man, but which is also the one who protects jc and has to deal with a rather difficult manager meng (xiyao anyone👀?).
neither lxc nor nhs likes the teacher and is very much ready to match nmj and jc (especially since they are not blind and do see how nmj treats and behaves around jc).
obv jc knows nmj is probably only using him, which doesn't really hurt at first since he managed to set his heart behind heavy walls (which is hard for nj once he actually figured his feeling for him).
maybe wx is the one who fucked over jc in the past? sweet-talking him because he clearly fell in love with him and used him to go to the capital to become an official. if I were to go father with the idea I would need to find how thing goes, since I wouldn't want to basically rewrite the same thing as the original novel (but with mingcheng).
anyway, here feed on what my brain came up with after finishing reading ygm:ct.
also I like the idea of 40 jc who's tired of life (until he discovers the joy of Pengornises!!) meeting young general nmj who fell hard for him without knowing it.

As a Thalmor, you’d think to help the Empire win the war to get rid of the Stormcloaks right? Wrong.
Either you can keep them fighting amongst themselves so they’re easier to manipulate…
Or, you can join the Stormcloak army, and be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Make them think that they’re safe, help them win their silly little war.
Let them celebrate in their mead halls, blissfully unaware that they are severely weakened by their sudden lack of support from the Empire, and that it’s only mere days before their economy crashes.
And then? I invite the Dominion in, and they are Buggered with a capital B.
Skyrim is Aldmeri property now. If Ulfric bends the knee, his people will kill him and the chaos will make Skyrim easier to conquer. If he doesn’t, we’ll kill him anyway and do it the hard way, and I would make Ulfric aware of this ultimatum.
Would you rather die a pointless martyr or a traitor? Let’s see his ego decide that one. If he’s a traitor, he will go down in the history books. If he is loyal but martyred, people will forget about him.
Edit; I would also pull Ondolemar from Markarth as soon as the Stormcloaks started gaining the upper hand. We need our commander, and the loss of support from the Dominion would either cause Markarth to become lazy (the Jarl could think that Markarth is strong enough on its own, or that they’re stronger without Ondolemar there watching them), or it would send them into an all out panic, because the Jarl would be paranoid about the decision to suddenly withdraw, forcing him to stop focusing on the war and start focusing on the economy (for fear of people turning against him if there’s not enough money/food/shelter), stunting any battle plans in place and leaving them with no plan B. Either way, that makes Markarth vulnerable to the Stormcloaks.

Rusong's birthday 🎂 part 2~~
~~~~
Pine Pavillion📍
Jinling, Song'er and friends had just finished eating their bellies full.
Jingyi: c...can someone die from a food coma? If I die, I want Jinling ti read my eulogy.
Jingyi: no way! Behave!
Sizhui: I'm not sure that's possible, Jingyi.
Rusong: heehee, don't be so dramatic. *burps softly*
Jinling: he's always overreacting.
Jingyi: I think I'm under reacting.
Jinling: is under reacting even a word.
Jingyi: yea! Under and reacting are two words. So two words will make one word. That's reproduction, Jinling.
Rusong: oh my.
Jinling: Song'er Goodluck with him. If Xiao shushu adopts him.
Rusong: I will have a ball.
Jingyi: and I'll have mantous. Maybe a little wine!
Ouyang Zizhen: *plunging jnto the pool* Rusong! You're living the life. You got an indoor pool.
Rusong: yup. And a personal hot spring.
Jingyi: *sobs* I want to be a prince so badddd.
Ouyang Zizhen: same! All I have to deal with is a cranky dad. He's obsessed with me becoming sect leader.
Rusong: do you want to?
Ouyang Zizhen: yea of course!! But A-Die is just cranking my style. I want to be free!!
Jingyi: Master Qiren is worst than your cranky dad. Rusong, I don't need a sugar daddy. I need a sugar emperor.
Sizhui: oh my goodness.
Jinling: stop being gross. And do you know what that mean.
Ouyang Zizhen: a sugar~~
Jinling: don't tell him.
Jinling: I'm also a Dianxia but I want to be a sect leader like Jiujiu!
Jingyi: all hail sect leader princess.
Jinling: *rolls eyes*
Sizhui: you'll be a cute sect leader Jin.
Rusong: definitely.
Ouyang Zizhen: I know that Rusong is going to rule the world, Jianghu and The fox spiri empire. With those dimples, looks, sharp tongue and intellect. He'll have the Jianghu crawling.
Do you see how powerful his A-Die is!
Jingyi: the guy (Yao Huangdi) almost fried guangshan with hot guqin strings.
Rusong: it was a little sizzle. Not much.
What's your future, Sizhui?
Sizhui: well I'm hoping to find the Wen remnants with uncle Ning. Maybe I can start a reformed Wen sect. But in the Lan clan, I don't know if I may be the sect leader some day. Well, if it's in my fate, I accept.
Rusong: aww lovely!
Ouyang Zizhen: Lan Qiren is basically immortal now lol! He's not giving up for anyone.
Jingyi: woww. Sizhui you're gonna bring back the WENS?!! You're revolutionary!
Sizhui: mhm. But they're going to be good. Also they'll be more like auntie Qing.
Helping, cultivating and treating people.
Wei qianbe said that auntie Qing was a doctor, so she refused to fight with the Wens.
Jingyi: girlboss.
Ouyang Zizhen: I agree.
Jinling: I wish you the best.
Sizhui: thanks.
Jingyi: you, Jinling and Rusong have some powerful uncles.
Ouyang Zizhen: I know right.
Rusong: heehee, it's indeed a random blessing.
Jinling: yea. Got to love those random uncles.
Sizhui: if someone lay a finger on me, my ghost general uncle can rip them to shreds. Just saying.
Jingyi: *astonished* bro.
Jingyi: when Rusong become Huangdi, you become sect leader Wen/Lan, you become sect leader Ouyang and sect leader Jin, I'm gonna drink and party so much for you guys!
Here I'm planning to be Hanguang Jun 2.0. I want to reach the perfection that IS Hanguang Jun.
Rusong: good luck. *smile* I'm sure you'll meet the perfection of your idol.
I still have a grudge though.
Jingyi: whyyy?!! Sorry I forgot. When I think about food, I forget everything else.
Rusong: he attacked my A-Die and insulted my uncle Su.
A-Die and I had to remind him everyday that he's valued.
Sizhui: awww.
Jingyi: I hear you man. Anyways I can't argue with you. Cuz you're hot. I mean because you're my bro!
Ouyang Zizhen: *wiping his wet hair* yea Rusong is kinda hot. *coughs*
Rusong: exactly. And you would lose an argument with me.
Jingyi: I admit.
It's the dimples.
Ouyang Zizhen: always. And that way of speech.
Rusong: I didn't ask A-Die to give me those qualities ok!
Ouyang Zizhen: other than dimples, you're still good-looking.
Jinling: Rusong is a chick magnet.
Rusong: not true.
Jingyi: no wonder ouyang zizhen is  single. Rusong keeps taking away the ladies.
Ouyang Zizhen: Dianxia!! That isn't cool.
Rusong: Zizhen, you'll find a girl who likes you, don't worry.
Do you want me to link you with some fox spirits?
Ouyang zizhen: yes yes yes! I do!!!
Rusong: rich? Educated? Uneducated? Performer? Teacher? Who do you want.
Ouyang Zizhen: any one. Once she's pretty and around my age.
Rusong: ok then. I'll sunmon two.
Ouyang Zizhen: you can summon hulijings???!!
Rusong: uh...duh.
Jinling: of course he can, idiot. only imperial hulijings can summon them.
Rusong: but you got to do something for me in return.
Ouyang zizhen: what's that?!!
Rusong: in the future, you and your sect got to assist the Huyao empire.
Ouyang Zizhen: of course. And we're already besties.
Rusong: glad doing business with you.
Jingyi: Rusong knows politics, lol.
Jinling: he's Xiao shushu's son after all.
Xiao shushu has all the sect leaders in a chokehold.
Rusong: and one thing. *gives him a talisman pendant* keep this with you.
So that your energy won't be sucked out.
Ouyang Zizhen: thanks!
You're so cool, Rusong.
Rusong: also they won't misbehave with you because it got the Dianxia ceal
Jingyi: wow
Sizhui: aww, Wangzi privileges.
Ouyang Zizhen: this guy is top tier.
Do your A-Die have that?!
Rusong: yea yea. He does.
His ceal is the highest there is.
Jinling: obviously Zizhen!
Afterwards, two fox spirits appeared and bowed to Rusong.
Greetings Dianxia.
Rusong: rise please. Huifen, Li mei.
Yes Dianxia.
Li mei: happy birthday, Dianxia.
Huifen: sorry, we haven't brought any gifts for you.
Ouyang Zizhen: *sobs* they're flirting with Rusong.
Jinling: no they're not!
Jingyi: you're screwed, dude.
Rusong: thank you for the wishes. And it's ok if you didn't bring gifts.
My friend Ouyang Zizhen, the soon to be sect leader wants to have a few friends, hence I called you guys here.
Huifen: sure. As you wish.
We'll keep him company.
Li mei: he's really really cute after all.
Ouyang Zizhen: *blushing*
Li mei: but not as cute as our Dianxia.
Rusong: *laughing* you guys.
Jingyi: lol.
Sizhui: go talk to them, Zizhen.
Ouyang Zizhen: but they're too pretty.
Sizhui: you got this. And they said you're cute.
Rusong: *sits and pours himself some wine* ahh, what an amazing birthday.
Ouyang Zizhen: so! *wraps his arms around the two hulijings* where are you guys from?!
Huifen: Nanjing.
Li mei: Luoyang. But my family lives in Yunping.
Ouyang: ohh. Have you guys been to Bailing? That's where I'm from. *wink*
Both: no. *giggling*
Ouyang zizhen: so are you guys rich? Not that it matters.
Li mei: my dad is the minister of revenue.
Huifen: I'm a dancer.
Ouyang zizhen: aww!! So you're the talented one, Fenfen.
Li mei: hey, don't say that. I'm talented too. Not only my cousin.
Ouyang zizhen: wow you guys are cousins?
What do you do, mei?
Li mei: I can do embroidery. And I own an embroidery shop.
Ouyang zizhen: beautiful.
I'm going to be sect leader soon!
Li mei: ahh, that's great. Do you want some fox spirit help?
We're very benevolent.
Huifen: we become servants, and help your business prosper.
But then if you misuse your power, then that's when the chaos begins.
Li mei: we love scholars, merchants and powerful people. But we love to tease the rotten ones.
Ouyang zizhen: that's kinda hot of you two.
Both: *blushing*
Ouyang zizhen: nah, I don't want you guys as fox spirit servants. I want you as my girlfriends. My Ouyang Furen.
Huifen: omg! Ouyang Gongzi. Stop it.
Li mei: heeehee. We'll be anything you want.
Jingyi: he got them.
Jinling: huh, surprising. I hope they don't break up with them.
Jingyi: or the other way around.
Rusong: but they're really cute together.
I ship them.
Jinling: are they pretending just because it's your order?
Rusong: nah. If they didn't like him, they would have just told me and I would give them permission to go back home.
Jingyi: *Eating again* man I'm hungry again.
Huifen and Li mei: *hugging ouyang zizhen*
Ouyang zizhen: *awestruck* you two smell nice.
Li mei: thank you!!
Huifen: I feel like I can feast on your energy but you got the Dianxia ceal on you.
Ouyang zizhen: yea. I'm friends with your Dianxia.
Huifen: waw.
Li mei: what did you get him for his birthday?
Ouyang zizhen: uhhh......*blushing*
Rusong: guys, he got me a ceramic ornament. Don't worry.
Both: *cheering* Ouyang gongzi is so rich and generous!!
Ouyang zizhen: (thanks for helping me Rusong. Im nervous around them)
If I marry you two, would you suck out my energy?
Li mei: no darling.
Huifen: we love you too much to do that.
Ouyang zizhen: *laughing* right!
Huifen: here's some liquor, Gongzi.
Ouyang zizhen: thank you very much! Now tell me, what gifts do you like?
Huifen: anything pretty.
Li mei: anything I can put in my hair.
Ouyang zizhen: awww.
Another fox spirit girl appeared, and went to Rusong's side.
Dianxia!!
Rusong: hi, Biyu.
Biyu: *bows* happy birthday, Dianxia.
Rusong: thank you. Have a seat.
Biyu: *sits next to him*
Jingyi: you got one for you too?!!
Rusong: yea.
Do you guys want a fox spirit?
Jingyi: *blushing* NO!
Sizhui: I'm good, Rusong.
Jinling: Jiujiu might scold me.
Rusong: ok.
Biyu, what would you like? Tea or wine?
Biyu: wine, Dianxia. If I said tea, then you would have to make it. And I can't put my Dianxia through that.
Rusong: so be it. *pours some wine* here you go.
Biyu: a toast to you.
Rusong: *smile*
You're too kind.
Biyu: *hugs hand* hulijing Dianxia, anything you need? You're the boss.
Rusong: nothing, thank you.
Anyways, here's a jade hairpin, and $400. *wink*
Biyu: awwww thanks for the gifts! But I'm the one who's supposed to get you something.
Rusong: haha, there's no need.
Biyu: *blushing* you're really kind and sweet.
*kneels*
Dianxia, if you say, I shall leave.
Rusong: go ahead. *smile*.
Biyu: bye Dianxia. *disappears*
Jinling: Rusong! Is that your gf?!
Rusong: no. Our citizens are just fond of admiring A-Die and I, and we love to treat them in return.
Jinling: ohh.
Rusong: enough about me. Guys, how about we go to the in-house sushi eatery.
Ouyang zizhen: *hugging his girlfriends* I'm right there, Dianxia.
Fenfen, I have a rich friend.
Jinling: yea I can do with some sushi.
Jingyi: an in-house sushi place, in your house?! What else do you have in here?
Jinling: non of your business.
Jingyi: I'll make it my business, JINLING!
Rusong: lol, don't worry about that.
~
On the other side, in Jing Manor.
Zixuan: A-Yao, do you ever feel to do something crazy. Out of our comfort zone.
Yao: sometimes.
Zixuan: what if we spend the night in a cottage in the middle of the woods.
Yao: Zixuan. *touches Zixuan's forehead* are you ok?
Zixuan: come on! It will be fun!
Yao: i know it would, but you and woods don't go together, lol.
Zixuan: it's for the experience. We'll know to fetch water and deal with the heat.
Yao: and cook our own meals!
Zixuan: right!
Yao: should we bring our personal assistants?
Zixuan: of course, Yaoyao. We're emperors, we'll die without our servants.
Yao: *shakes head* oh Zixuan.
But you're right.
You know what's also kind of telling? The fandom rn has a tendency to call Hopes Claude... Hopes!Claude. Or Clyde. Or Clout. Like a lot of us are making the active effort of distinguishing which game we're talking about when talking about Claude, on a very general basis. Hell, I've seen more than a few people even make the specific distinctions of which ROUTE Hopes!Claude is on when talking about which version they're referring to. Which, from what I've seen anyway... isn't happening with pretty much literally any other character.
We're not calling Hopes' rendition of Dimitri Dmitri, or Demetrius, or Hopes!Dimitri - he’s a bit different from his 3H rendition, but not enough to warrant an entirely different name when discussing him, nor in ways that don't make sense to the setting/his base character. Same with Her Majesty, or Rhea, or even Byleth. It's only - or ar least, mainly - Claude who people are making this distinction with. Which kind of says a lot about how the writers handled Claude, or at least the fandom's general feelings over the disparity between the two renditions lmao
I’ve noticed that too lol. Don’t forget Clod!
It does say a lot that people make sure they mention which Claude it is. It shows how drastically different they wrote him compared to everyone else. Other examples of characters that I specify personally are like... Erwin, Miklan, Ludwig, Caspar... and most of those people aren’t the greatest people in Houses but I specify they’re written in a better light in Hopes (I have a post I’m writing up about my feelings regarding their writing for AG Ludwig and how I noticed differences between him and his SB and Houses versions). As for Caspar, he’s just a brainless idiot in this game who in AG decides to fight and die for a completely corrupt and overturned Empire instead of looking at the state Edelgard is in and going “hmmm yeah she doesn’t look so good and she’s clearly not calling the shots so I should prooobably stop fighting”.
Claude however is a main character and needs a lot more differentiation if his character shows changes, and since it does and it’s as drastic as it is, it doesn’t matter if someone agrees or disagrees with the way he was written. Either way he’s still very different.
To me what matters in terms of who Claude is in Houses is that at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what the devs considered writing for him. I’ve seen arguments that “it’s what they planned anyway” but that wasn’t in the final version of the game. What matters is the final product that the consumers is going to experience. The version of Claude we were given is not like thought about writing. The worst part about Hopes is that there’s a lot of push and pull and they never committed to anything.
Realistically, if Claude was the sneaky and shady person they tried to make him out to be in Hopes, he would’ve taken Lorenz’s advice and left Edelgard to die. If he really wanted peace for the innocents by any means necessary, he would’ve decided that her dying was worth it for the masses. At that point it doesn’t matter what you feel about Edelgard - it matters that if they wanted to go for this version of Claude, they should’ve stood by that. Also, writing him this way would also involve him allying with the Kingdom because it would shape Fodlan the way he wants it to be shaped.
It sucks for Claude fans because now there’s a huge divide in not only the fandom at large, but between smaller groups of it. If they wanted to make a darker version of Claude, like, I’d be up for that, but my take on what a darker version of him would be like is along the lines of being merciless to people who have done wrong, killing people more coldly, keeping more deadly secrets, etc. I think he’d be a bit more like Yuri for a point of reference. What we got was a story that couldn’t make up its mind and had to pull Claude in any direction that the story needed.
Hopes’ Claude isn’t in charge of his own story, basically. The story doesn’t cater to him - he caters to the story and has to be changed accordingly. In Houses he’s consistent in all routes. In Hopes, Dimitri and Edelgard are consistent in all routes. Claude in Hopes is just a mess.
Golden Wildfire - Chapter 11 - Chapter 12
Motherfuckers
Really, the only thing to note from camp is that Lorenz comments that Almyan ships are more advanced than Foldan ones.
Oh, and Linhardt is actually against the invasion but it still along for the ride
Sreng is fucking attacking. Damn you, Claude.
Felix is going to intercept him.... dear god, does he die?
Rodrigue will 100% die though.
Felix appears in a side map. Defending is land... :(
At least we aren’t allowed to plunder the freaking land, cause Nader really wanted to.
Guess we are taking a fortress first instead of the city.
We can persuade Ashe this chapter?! Damn, harsh.
Lol, I accidently failed my first time. You retreat if you fail to protect the engineers.
WAIT NO THEY LIVE.
BUT INSTEAD, SYLVAIN’S FATHER COMES IN TO COVER THEIR RETREAT AND DIES INSTEAD
NOOOOOOO
Hilda “Woohoo!” Here we go, this is SB level shit right here.
Oh fuck, here we go. Claude is about to complain about the Kingdom’s values.
It didn’t occur to you until NOW that people were going to fucking die in your invasion?!
“We will create a world where these sacrifices will no longer be necessary. People will be able to live as they please.” BITCH YOU ARE INVADING.
YOU LITERALLY TOLD ASHE TO RECRUIT HIM THAT DIMITRI WOULDN’T WANT HIM TO DIE SO JUST GIVE UP
FUCK, SYVAIN, I AM SO SORRY.
Oh, Arval is bringing up Myson now. Arval right. No one seems to care about the nature of Shez’s powers. In SB, they talked about it all the fucking time.
At least Claude is AWARE that Edelgard wants to unite all of Foldan.
But his logic is so fucking flawed. Remove the church, then the moral reason for Edelgard’s war is removed. BUT THAT’S WRONG.
Everyone is a fucking moron.
Chapter 12
Yuri thinks it’s cruel to bring Ashe along and make him fight in his own territory
Balthus says the previous king sounds like a pretty great guy
Oh, NOW Claude doesn’t want more casualties by not telling Sreng the previous Margrave is dead
Lorenz isn’t bothered by Claude’s plans. He’s just bothered that Claude didn’t tell him originally.
Hapi points out that the Kingdom is going to probably hold a grudge against us
What? You can point out to Claude that the Empire will likely continue their war even if the Central Church is gone and he is still like “yeah, but... this is the best way I think”
Dimitri has realized pretty much realized what Claude is after, but comes they are “in the war because of the Central Church”. Not really, the Empire was going to come knocking anyways. Why do people KEEP FORGETTING THIS?!
A lot of side maps is protecting the citizens from bandits and shit since... you know, Claude is invading
Ingrid appears in a side map here.
I took Holst out on an expedition. He thinks accepting the Church of Seiros; teachings is to abandon reason. He also says that pink hair is part of the Goneril bloodline
There is also a side map where part of the Kingdom army stages an attack for vengeance for Margrave Gautier
“Let’s see if a crushing defeat can get through Dimitri’s thick skull!” But you didn’t even try to reach out to him originally... This was your first and only plan....
Lorenz - “How long it’s been since I visited the capital! I would love to come back and study magic here!” SAYS THE INVADER
Dimitri evacuated the city. :,(
Brah, Claude is an ass. Sylvain is like “You killed my dad!” And Claude is just “Well, we are all trying to live here!”
It takes THREE Crested people to even have a shot at Dimitri.
Dimitri just retreats?
No fucking way... We are RETREATING?! AFTER ALL THAT?!
MOTHERFUCKERS!
Tumblr media
And then Arval points out how no one seems to seriously consider you are part of the Slithers.
Paralogues
There is a single paralogue in chapter 11 with Claude. You cannot do this paralogue if Judith dies.
Oh no, someone is attacking the capital! How just so... so horrible. Just like another capital under siege somewhere....
Claude wants people in Foldan to look outwards and shit. Well Claude, maybe if you STOPPED INCITING RACE WARS IN OTHER NATIONS THEY MAY CONSIDER IT.
Judith finally learns the truth, that Claude is an Almyran prince. Shez also figured it out pretty much when they fought Shahid.
Claude literally has two crowns, hereditary crowns, due to his bloodline.
ALTERNATIVE PATH
If you are playing on NG+ and kill Jeralt and have Arval in your barracks, a special paralogue opens up for Arval specifically.
It’s a story of the past.
Nemesis retreated, and these Slithers are also retreating. Epimenides is covering their retreat.
Some interesting things.
Thales was still alive at this point. Epimenides doesn’t really like him though
Once, the slithers had overwhelmed the Nabateans through sheer numbers, but don’t have those numbers anymore
The slithers truly believe that Sothis is no god
They “pity” those fighting for her since they don’t know what they are fighting for (frankly, I don’t either, this game told me nothing about why I’m fighting for you, Arval)
Seiros and co don’t really seem to know who Epimenides is...
Epimenides knows that the Saints are spawn of Sothis
Chapter 12
Only the Wolves paralogue is available. I already did it on my SB run so I don’t have anything new to say
Supports
Chapter 11 Supports
Leonie and Shez A support - This support opens up if you recruit Jeralt (stays locked if you don’t though). Leonie is literally fucking jealous of Jeralt’s own kid, even saying she is his first apprentice. At least Shez points out that they have been together WAY longer than she has, and they are literally family. I cannot stand Leonie in Hopes, and I really liked her in Houses overall.
For some reason, Claude gets supports with two of the Wolves.
Claude and Constance C support - Claude wants Constance’s magic to change hairstyles (to slip out of sticky situations).
Claude and Hapi B support - Hapi says claude is more comfortable being with him than the emperor or the king of the Kingdom. Which, like... Dimitri is like, the nicest king ever?
Claude and Constance B support - Apparently, the men in Almyra LOVE that mountain beard look
I really don’t know why Claude got a support with Hapi. Claude skipping out on meetings, and stuff... I mean, it’s cute, but I just don’t see the connection here.
Books
Book of Seiros I
The Revelation
The goddess is all things.
She is heaven above and the land below.
She is eternity incarnate.
She is the present, the past, and the future.
Her eyes see all. Her ears hear all. Her hands receive all.
She who was graced with the holy word of the divine goddess, who bore witness to her magnificence, is the one called Seiros. She is the messenger of the heavens, the bridge between the lands above and below, and her blessing shall bring tidings of peace to all.
With the goddess’s omnipotence and wisdom to guide her, Seiros ensures that her will be done. As the goddess’s sword, Seiros wards away evil. As the goddess’s child, Seiros makes emperors of mortals. As the goddess’s wings, Seiros elevates her people. As the goddess’s voice, Seiros spreads the word of love.
That sublime sword is entrusted to you. Those emperors are crowned before you. Those wings clear your path. That voice whispers words of trust. May the blessings of the goddess follow you, always.
Crestological Mysteries
Chapter 13 - Crest of the Beast
Maurice’s Crest. Held by Maurice, one of the eleven clan leaders who followed Nemesis more than a thousand years ago.
Was a fearsome warrior who as a young man felled a giant wolf with just a sword. Called a hero in his clan, and soon defeated his father to take over as leader...
We don’t know when he received the Crest. One theory is it was after he swore to fight for Nemesis, who had just defeated him in single combat.
Or it could be that the Hero’s Relic Blutgang answered his subconscious call for aid when he came face-to-face with an evil presence. He got the sword from Nemesis.
For the Imperial Army, Maurice and Blutgang became a beast of calamity. His sword was made to end lives. Mounted and flying enemies made for particularly good targets.
He rampaged through the battlefield, killing many enemy generals and finally a holy warrior. He was greatly feared...
... After the battle of Gronder Field, the war front moved north and Maurice became increasingly unhinged. No one knows why. One day after destroying an enemy camp, he disappeared.
North of the battlefield lay a vast, misty wood, known as the Enchanted Forest of Mircea. No one who went there to search ever returned...
The Crest of the Beast was inherited by the wild oats sown by Maurice and his sons. They lived on in the shadows of various clans and families, and in particular lords who bore a grudge towards the Empire.
Whenever it became known that someone possessed this detestable Crest, they would suddenly fall ill or meet their end in an untimely accident. Inevitably, the Crest became an unspoken curse...
Torn Pages of a Story
Epilogue
The self-proclaimed king takes a small whistle from the leather satchel on his waist and blows into it sharply. A large dark shadow appears in the night sky, and a wyvern descends to the man’s side. He says to the young girl watching, “Get on if you wish. The choice is yours.”
Without hesitation, the girl approaches the wyvern. The man who says he is the king’s vassal speaks to her.
“You are the daughter of a lord, are you not? You must surely want for nothing back at your home. Would you throw that all away on a flight of fancy with our king?”
The girl smiles and answers the king’s vassal.
“If he can promise to show me something new, I would happily throw it all away. It may be foolish, but it is my foolishness. And surely one can only find true freedom by abandoning themselves to their own whims...”
(This seems to be a fantasy story based on a real person. The first half is missing, so it’s hard to understand what’s happening).
Tome of Comely Saints
Facts cannot be determined and this text will not take it into account
People think of Saint Macuil when they hear the term comely saint.
Countless songs and poems have been written about his immaculate good looks, among them “The Breeze Upon the Maiden’s Cheek”...
Composed by the Empire’s first female poet: “Winds summoned by wings. Rainbows dripping like glaze. Your beauty sets My heart ablaze.”
... But we must not forget Saint Cichol. Some claimed he had countless lovers, while others insist he had one true love throughout his life.
Very few records of saints being married, yet we know Cichol married. His own daughter was made a saint as well. The latter theory is therefore likely true. but of course at the Rhodos Coast...
... Saint Luca and his many offspring, though much of what is said is likely fiction. The man loved love, and a great affection for the many children he brought into the world. However, appearances can be deceiving. Was he truly the comely saint?
If we consider he perhaps was simply using some sort of power to change his appearance, then...
(A book about the saints. It contains many portraits and is well-worn).
Commander’s Journal
2nd day of the Blue Sea Moon.
Had to abandon the front and retreat to a hastily constructed stronghold in Foldan’s Throat due to the brutal savagery of the Almyran main force.
If they get past here, there will be nothing to stop an Almyran invasion of Leicester.
5th day of the Blue Sea Moon
Almyrans are bearing down. Weather prevents archers from keeping them at bay.
Imperial snipers are coming tomorrow
6th day of the Blue Sea Moon
Weather stays bad. Imperial archers help very little. They also brought a tactician.
7th day of the Blue Sea Moon
Suddenly, the Imperial tactician gathered all of the archers together and showed them some figures. His calculations allowed the arrows to hit true.
10th day of the Blue Sea Moon
Thanks to the hero tactician, they were able to mount a counterattack at last.
ack i feel bad bc i was going to send you an ask for ffwf last week today but kept forgetting to do it until literally today. so i'm going to give more questions in one to make up for it
1: who is your absolute favorite character to write?
2: is there a character that you love so much but just struggle with writing them?
3: where do you write (google docs, word, directly into ao3, etc)? and where do you prefer to write (physical location, if any)?
4: description of the fic you are most hyped about writing please.
-- @lokigodofaces
No worries! I take ages to answer asks anyways.
1.Probably Loki
2.Most characters, to be honest. I don't really "get" characterization unless I've read a ton of meta about the character
3. Mostly google docs, though sometimes also notepad++ (a txt file editor, and I prefer to work on my desktop in general but I sometimes also work on my laptop especially if I'm away from home, just wherever I am.
4. I currently don't really have enough time or energy for writing fics, but there are two fics that are fairly frequently occupying my brain.
I've written 1-2k words of the first one. It's a queerplatonic Tesseroki fic where, after Loki drops off the Bifrost, instead of being found by Thanos, they die - but not really, since Space wants them to live and the other Infinity Stones help them retrieve Loki's soul and connect it to the Tesseract's. In this AU, the Tesseract was used as a power source and engine for a spaceship, and Space can only influence the way that it is used in subtle ways, so that the spaceship tends to trade hands between different groups of space patterns quite frequently (in the hope of there being someone who will realize that the Tesseract is a sapient being) and some think that it is haunted. Once Loki's soul is connected with Space's, they share the spaceship-body, and since the systems that control the Tesseract did not account for a second soul in there, Loki is able to more directly affect the world than Space. The fic'll be episodic, with a mostly-rotating crew of OC space pirates and some crossovers and probably encounters with other MCU characters. There's also a secret in it that I don't want to spoil and, though I don't know how obvious I made it, I want to see people's reactions when they figure it out.
The second one I haven't written any of but I have planned it out in my head, though it'll probably be quite a long time until I actually write it. It's a crossover between the Machineries of Empire series and the MCU where Asgard exists in the Machineries of Empire-universe and frequently wars with the Hexarchate. This all originated from me thinking that humanoid-voidmoth!Loki would be interesting (voidmoths are the Hexarchate's spaceships, and they're sentient) and then that Jedao/Loki would be a fascinating ship because they complement each other and have many of the same issues, so they could either make each other better or way, way worse (it'll mostly be in the "worse" category in the fic because 1. drama and 2. this is in the Hexarchate, but I'm aiming for a positive ending). In this AU, Kujen was working on humanoid voidmoths at around or before the time of Jedao's birth or before, and managed to make them humanoid and even age from infancy to adulthood like a human being but wouldn't yet get the hang of consciousness & memory transfer into a humanoid voidmoth body until the canon time period in which he did. Asgard found and attacked the one of his labs in which he was researching this, and Odin took a humanoid-voidmoth baby in order to hopefully figure out how the enemy's spaceships worked. Flash-forwards a while, and Loki is a prince and young general of Asgard who is brilliant at calendrical warfare, especially space battles. Asgard is mostly specialized in infantry battle, especially since by using the Bifrost's teleportation they bypass the need for spaceships when invading enemy territory, and they disdain space combat. During this period, Jedao and Loki interact with each other through battles where they're generals on opposing sides and they develop a respect for each other. Then, Hellspin Fortress happens and at some point after or before that, the rough equivalent of Thor 1 happens (Loki finds out that he's a voidmoth-not just born of the enemy but a tool of the enemy- and Thor is banished due to an impulsive & aggressive action and Loki makes bad decisions born of panic and self-hatred and at the end of the whole thing Loki falls into space (from a spaceship)). This is getting pretty long so I'll just leave it at that for now, but the fic has plenty more to it.
