“naomi, for sure. i mean, don’t get me wrong, the chick’s got hella edge, but,” he shrugs, “i’ve had some of the best chats with her. like, even counting real world chats. we come from, like, two different universes, but i think it’s cool that we can have these interesting convos and just be chill. she’s not particularly cuddly, but i guess that kinda goes with our old married couple vibe, huh?”

do you get along with any of your fellow bombshells ?

“dude, all of them. seriously, i love every single one of those fools.”

how was the challenge for you ? what moment was most memorable ?

“when char sucked naomi’s toe,” he jokes, fanning himself off. mostly just trying to cover up the blush that takes him. “obviously the kiss with seb and zeke. i’m still like... just -- yeah.”

did you share a bed with anyone ? how did that go ? do you think you’ll share with them again ?

“me and miss santos, yeah. always down to share my bed with a gorgeous woman. yeah, no, nothing happened, of course. will i share with her again? iiii dunno. i mean, i wouldn’t mind it, i don’t wanna leave her out on the couch. well, i’m sure somebody would love to have her with them, maybe zeke or...” overthinking, rambling. he shakes his head. “maybe. it’d just be cool to sleep with somebody i’m on a not-friend basis.”

When I say I don't like dressing femininely often I dont mean it cause I feel insecure about seeing myself in it. I plain don't feel like a girl in those moments. But again ratings dropped and the fandom didn't react well (kinda protested), Anjali quickly stopped showing jealousy and Dadi was introduced to give ArShi a common saas-bahu vibe.

I am going to over answer this with a lot of detail because I have a lot of thoughts, as always! Time to get into my thinking cape/coat:

This analysis is going to cover:

(1) every example you just mentioned,

(2) my thoughts on external things affecting plot of the story,

(3) things/plots/ tracks that could've been if not for external factors

Examples

1) IPKKND was supposed to have a longer office track (that wasn't common though, I would've loved it) but the TRP was low, so Shantivan track was introduced

As far as I can remember from one of the writers' interviews, the office track was cut short because this was a show on Star Plus - which, as a channel, caters to 'family audience' therefore needs to have sanskaar and stuff at its core. Hence the rude shortening of the office track and weird 'makeover' and 'desi-dying' Lavanya. And hence we had a very weird four months of an eighteen-twenty years old Khushi teaching someone about sanskaars and suddenly knowing everything about a household when Bua-ji or even Payal would've been a more apt choice for this 'tutoring'.

If this was a Star One show, they might've not shifted out of the office for the longest time!

2) Sana Maqbul (Lavanya) wanted to quit IPKKND, that's why the quick breakup??? Is that why they didn't give us the COMMON AF *jealousy and hero's ex GF turns villain* track?

I did not know that's why the quick end happened. Honestly that happened perfectly. I think Lavanya had an inkling about their relationship heading south right when Arnav told everyone he's getting engaged to her. But she chooses to not see it until one day she couldn't. Maybe we could've gotten more from La but if you see carefully, La clearly knows that this relationship is now just for face. Bless her heart for trying though, trying with a smile!

Also, again I think the writers never thought of making Lavanya a vamp. They had enough material with Arnav-Khushi's own differences, Shyam and Buaji playing enough roles to mess up Arnav-Khushi's love story. I probably think they always had planned Lavanya as a beautiful person who was unintentionally caught in all of this. I feel they planned La and Khushi's friendship - they clearly enjoyed writing two completely different people becoming closest of friends.

The writers/creators deserve full credit for this.

3) Then again, Anjali was jealous and sad about Khushi after the first reveal of Shyam, and it looked like track about Didi Ki Saut was beginning. But again ratings dropped and the fandom didn't react well (kinda protested), Anjali quickly stopped showing jealousy and Dadi was introduced to give ArShi a common saas-bahu vibe.

This is all true.

My Thoughts on External Things Affecting Plot

It's not necessarily bad that external things affect plot. Feedback, from channel or fans, can help the show to pivot and understand what is working and what's not. The problem is when feedback is implemented regardless whether or not it matches the theme of the plot.

I loved:

1) The channel moving out of the office because the power dynamic was too great and the contract terms were very unhealthy and Arnav Singh Raizada deserved to get sued at least 10 times by the end of this contract so yes, the shorter the office track the better. Literally the saving grace is they didn't "fall in love" there.

2) The fans protesting against Didi Ki Saut track. Not because I hated the track - I think it was executed in the worst manner! From identical visual languages to show Arnav-Anjali and Arnav-Khushi scenes (which didn't work to show Arnav being equally torn between the two most important women in his life, but just made the audience get creeped by Arnav-Anjali's relationship) and writing scenes of Anjali getting offended by Arnav-Khushi's intimacy/Arnav spending time with his wife, on her birthday, in his bedroom... did she expect Khushi would just *disappear* in a her and Arnav's bedroom? Like that was the worst way to show a compelling plot line and giving people some weird thoughts about Anjali-Arnav (which I hate because I LOVE Anjali-Arnav).

3) Barun walking out when the plot was literally done. Yes, thank you!

4) Barun going to do a movie led to the kidnapping track, which I liked a lot. No, not the nonsense of Manorama Bond fishing out Delhi's security camera footages in vintage recording system - but the fact that given the chasm and angst between Arnav & Khushi, only something bigger than their misunderstanding could force Arnav to give weight to his feelings and for Khushi to be able to forgive him. And his life was at stake. It was a sharp reminder to both of them that they lost so much by not communicating that it doesn't matter what they had to say - they loved each other, they just needed to get back and fight off everything together.

And then again, there are things I HATED that happened because of external factors:

1) The channel for the whole La becomes Desi. And the overdose of sanskaar and tradition that followed for a few months *uggggh* Clearly the channel demanded this from the plot because family, traditions and all are important to Star Plus (wtf are they thinking for Ghum Hai Kisi Ke? though or YRKKH?) And even the Aarav track and Mrs. India - two tracks with terrible execution - were very Star Plus recommended content. Just now Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2 had a Mrs. Surat/Gujarat track and Yeh Hai Chaahatein had a miracle child popping up...

2) The fans demanding Arnav & Khushi's proximity. The whole hut scene was *noooooo*. Lack of consent, body doubles, GLARING logical loopholes and them just trying to do it when one of them is really not in the mood and they were both so out of character. @phati-sari explains this really well in her post (just search for the hut to get all relevant posts on her blog)

3) Barun? Not exactly - he's never in control of the plot so really it's the writers that kinda know what to do with his presence and absence. Even if they get a short time, it's upto the creators who know if they use the last 2-3 weeks for stretching a random track as much as they can and give a rushed ending or quickly wrap up a crap track and give a satisfactory ending. A good example of this is Lavanya's exit - although rushed was dealt with grace, important conversations and memorable hugs. Bad one is the end of the show - I know Barun gave his papers but I wish they went the La way with the end of the show - important convos, teary hugs and a sweet moment (they tried their best tho...)

It's an ITV trend though to not plan for the end of a show... they stretch a crappy track as much as they can and have like a 2 min epilogue. Kasautii 2.0 was the funniest cause they had all misconceptions cleared, Komolika and Mr. Bajaj die and then have a weird 2 min pillow fight to show 'happy family'... guess in that way I'm glad we had whatever we did with IPKKND!

Possible Tracks Then

So if external factors didn't influence the show, we might have had the following:

1) A longer office track. It would end the way it did in canon though. I think it was prewritten that at one point Khushi would tear up the contract and hold him accountable for everything Arnav did. Just instead of 3-4 days it would've been 10-15 days after the contract.

2) Didi Ki Saut track. Honestly that was compelling if executed right. Sometimes you can have an antagonist without becoming a villain, Anjali the perfect character for that.

3) A separation track. I'm pretty sure Arnav-Khushi could have separated at some point in their six months marriage - this is just my inkling and not something I heard in an interview unlike the above two. If given full reign to writing, we probably would've gotten an angst heavy stuff at some point post marriage/6 months.

4) A remarriage track sans Dadi. We know why Dadi was introduced (honestly I didn't mind her, it was a track done well and kinda to redeem Arnav in front of the public eyes. It's a perfect track cause Arnav is 'nice' for standing up for her and kinda heals the wounds he caused in the first few months of the marriage by retorting someone who tells Khushi everything he told her...) But anyway I do think a remarriage was in the works, not because of TRPs but the way their whole 'marriage' was framed and how Khushi was broken because of the lack of everything in it. And they deserved one w/o the devastation that night brought.

5) The 'marriage' would've been a live in. Arnav and Khushi's elopement was supposed to be darker in nature*. Their 'marriage' would've had no religious nor legal validity, therefore a stark contradiction to everything Khushi stood for... but you can't have that in ITV. *By dark I don't mean sexual violence - never.*

6) The whole IPKKND was meant to be darker. I am glad for the romantic comedy though! I think their balance of angst and comedy pre marriage was perfect! Not sure post marriage because it felt like a loop of going back to square one with no progress. But I think things were meant to be less subtle, more tragic and dramatized. So I think we could've gotten extremely angsty periods post marriage with a slow, gentle lull to the romance/comedy. While I am extremely glad for the lightheartedness, I wish I could've read what the whole original concept for Arnav/Khushi was!

7) Arnav revealing the truth to Khushi would've been different. We know the distasteful suicide track quickly came as a way to push Arnav's buttons and have him confess the truth of his elopement to Khushi. And that came from Barun going away - hence the quick kidnapping track and everything. So if Barun didn't go away, I honestly don't know how the revelation would happen. Would Arnav start piecing things together from information and things about Shyam in Laxminagar? Would Arnav end up helping and hospitalizing Shashi who would tell him the truth? Would Arnav come across any hidden wedding card Buaji could've had printed for Shyam-Khushi or even Shyam's fake kundili? Given the Gupta house wasn't the place where Shyam covered his tracks... was this where Arnav would start seeing things? Or guilt ridden, would Garima/Khushi/Madhumati tell Arnav the truth? Something was meant to happen for this revelation, whether it's Arnav believing Khushi or just getting further evidence against her - I... don't know! I wish I knew what the writers had in store.

We highly appreciate for not showing a typical Nanand against Bhaabi trope, also for not making La villain, but would it result differently if things didn't have a hand? Imma cry thinking Anjali jealous and La villain! meh!  What a feast for the eyes it was to see ONLY ONE VILLAIN and less negativity in a tellywood show. Baas bohut hua my casual verbiage. By demand I mean no pressure, please take your valuable time and reply whenever you feel like it.Take Loads of Care and Chocolates your way <3

Notes: This may seem odd to submit as it’s mostly a comm convo with Rex trying to warn Cut about Order 66. But when your “family” knows you better than you know yourself, it’s hard to disguise what’s really going on with you🤨😍🥺 Ahsoka does make an appearance…

From Chapter 2, “Hidden”

The hangar's holocom was an old model that Skywalker and Rex got from a junk dealer. The general had fixed hundreds back on Tatooine and knew how to give this one a second life. It could serve the purpose of making contact when needed, but the imaging operations never worked right. For a comm system on Splendor, it was better to not see or be seen, so it was the perfect fit for what they needed back then. Well, what Skywalker needed anyway.

With the comm up and running, Rex was suddenly flooded with how many of his other officer brothers he wanted to call:

Cody, Appo, Wolfe, Fox, Gage, Howzer, Bly, then there was the other half of the 501st that was with the general…Rex started to feel sick to his stomach. Cody…damn.

He can't contact them. Not now. Maybe not ever again. Would the Batchers be affected? Maker! He needed to get this done before he ended up crying on the floor like Ahsoka was earlier. No kriffing way.

Get your head together, soldier.

When at first there was no response, he entered the comm code again.

"Come in, Contact 1122113E10-S2, this is 11991188E12-S43, Come in."

He waited a few minutes.

"Come in, Contact 1122113E10-S2, this is 11991188E12-S43, Come in."

He waited for a few more.

Nothing. One more try.

"Come in, Contact 1122113E10-S2, this is 11991188E12-S43, Come in."

Blast. This was—

Suu was the one speaking, but Rex knew Cut was feeding her what to say. "Dis is 1122113E10-S2, how ya doing, brothah?"

Rex practically fell off the seat and right back into it with joy.

"Haha! Lawquane! Brother!"' Rex realized he sounded so happy but was about to give Cut and Suu devastating news, "Uh this isn't a casual call. You got a secure channel?"

A moment passes.

In her thick sultry accent, Suu is Cut's mouthpiece until they can get over to the secure channel, "Sure. Go ovah to deh rrrollout from deh…uh…deh creshant sequence, you know dis one, yers?"

"Wow the crescent sequence, Lawquane? That takes me back. No gen1 clone can forget that one."

"Yers…from—," she is bickering with Cut in the background, "ugh…dem old days practicing ourrh dahnce mooves in deh rain,"

Suu sounds a little annoyed to be doing this charade at the moment. Cut grunting in the background sounds like he is struggling to hold back their kids, Jek and Shaeeah from attacking the family comm as they squeal with terrifying delight,

"Uncles! Unnnnnnncccccclessssssss! PLEASE, DADDY!”

Their shouting brings a huge welcome smile to Rex's face and he feels himself choking up a little bit with joy. He's not even related to these kids, but it's so good to hear them now.

"Copy that. Switching now, over and out," Rex flicks the comm channel switch and lets the excitement of hearing that the Lawquanes sound just like the family they do every time he called to check-in.

Rex looks at the comm without missing a beat he enters the code that he and all other clones recruits had to memorize and then manipulate for the "Crescent Sequence." It was a mock mission that was so difficult most recruits never even made it to the final stage of establishing their emergency signal while under distress.

Gen 1 clones had it the worst, the training was altered later when it was deemed too difficult and adjustments were made to ensure that recruits could get to the final phase and attempt to complete the mission.

Now on the secure channel, Rex felt more comfortable but still wasn't sure how much he could say. At least it didn't sound like Cut had been affected, but Cut wasn't around any Jedis at all.

Rex figured he couldn't take Ahsoka with him there. If they could even get to Salucami. He wasn't even sure if he could be safe around Cut himself.

"Come in Golden Boy, this is the Bastard. Hahaha, brother! To what do we owe such a surprise?" Cut's familiar voice was a comfort to Rex right now. Unfortunately, he didn't have time for comfort and catching up.

"Well, it's not good, brother. There's been ah…how do I explain this?"

"Explain what? You alright?"

"No. I mean, I'm fine. But, Cut, listen to me: the clone army has all been ordered to kill the Jedi for treason."

"What? Did you say…kill? Kill the Jedi?"

"Look, I have to be brief and don't have all the intel, it's complicated. So please try to follow."

"Alright…I'm listening."

"All of us clones had behavior implants, inhibitor chips when we were newly made, months old. They can control every clone in the GAR."

"Who?"

"We think it's a Sith Lord and I'm not sure but, the war is over, but something worse is beginning Cut. I understand what Fives was saying now.

"Rex? Did you hit your head or something? Are you drunk? Sergeant Hunter does this sometimes when he gets wasted and his abilities are all out of whack."

"Really?"

Rex now could hear Jek and Shaeeah screaming again in the background as Suu is barking at them to calm down. The commotion sounds hectic through the comm, it's probably even louder on Cut's end.

"Cut, I'm not drunk. I've never been more clear-headed in my life. I just wanted to let you know and make sure you weren't affected."

"Me?"

"Yes, you, brother. You have this thing in you too. You haven't been feeling weird today or yesterday?"

"Nothing different for me. I didn't even get upset when Jek spilled his juice all over the table this morning," Cut's voice is now yelling off the comm, "Alright that's it, you heard your mother, wash up time. Let Daddy finish up with Uncle Rex," then he returned to the comm, "Sorry about that, they get feral at bedtime."

"It's okay. Cut, you need to get this thing removed."

"Uh… we can't exactly do that out here. Besides how it even gets taken out. You got yours taken out, how?"

Rex was quiet. I can't tell him about Ahsoka yet.

"I had help. But before mine was taken out they gave the order. I felt its effects...it was awful, Cut. It was like living in a waking nightmare where I couldn't help what I was doing and I almost killed someone very close to me."

"Your general?"

"No, unfortunately, I don't know what's happened to him. I'm assuming he's gone too."

"Oh. I'm so sorry, brother. You two were close. Was it the…uh...what was her name? The one who left. Did she help you?"

Shit. That's brothers for you...

Rex had confided in Cut a few times about Ahsoka's whole ordeal with the council and her leaving the order. Maybe he was a little drunk one of those nights. The whole 501st was drunk for a week after she left. They also racked up more droid kills than any other battalion that same week.

Rex didn't want to lie again today, so he just avoided the question.

"Look, it's an organic chip. So it can't be easily detected. After we get our droid fixed I can send you the medical report from when mine was taken out.

"We?"

"Huh?"

"You said 'we’ just now."

"Nah, I'm alone. Found a hideout spot for a few days."

"Oh well. I guess I misheard, then."

Rex was certainly not alone right now.

He happened to look up towards the hangar's entrance where Ahsoka's distinct silhouette appeared and was barely taking her steps in. She was moving closer though. Rex needed to wrap this up quickly.

"Look if any of our brothers ask about me, tell them you saw me there on Salucami, that I came to visit and left."

"Alright. I'd ask where you are but I don't want to know, I guess. Some brothers might be like you though.”

“What do you mean?”

“What I mean is, we may not be the only deserters out there, Rex"

"I'm not a deserter," retorted Rex.

Cut laughs for a moment, "Okay then."

"That's not what this is about."

"If what you are telling me is true then there are some serious changes happening. You know you're always welcome here, but I understand not wanting to be found."

Rex is practically whispering now, "I know you do, look I got to—,"

"Rex, listen. You need to be careful…it's going to get lonely. You'll make it through. I just wish you weren't alone right now brother."

"Right...I have—,"

"Rex? What are you doing?" Ahsoka called out from the other side of the hangar as she walked towards the work area, "Who are you talking to?"

This was exactly what Rex did not want to happen,

"Huh?"

Cut was chuckling, "Well! My wish came true huh, brother?"

"It's nothing like that, Cut. Stop it"

"Sounds like you need to go, I know that tone in a woman's voice. You're in trouble. Just be honest with them. They love that."

"Cut, will you shut up. Honestly. We're just friends. Just make sure you take care of that thing."

Yeah, yeah, cut my head open. Right. Hey…you'll be alright, brother. You've got freedom now, enjoy it."

Rex is now down to a whisper, "I gotta go."

Cut is still teasing him, "I bet you do."

"Shut up. I'll contact you in a few days"

"Love you, brother."

"You too."

Ahsoka is now standing there and can see Rex at the comm, with her montrals she probably has been hearing the whole last minute. This is mortifying.

"Who was that?"

"Oh...um, nobody. A smuggler friend of Hondo's, I was trying to get some info about our next possible move." Rex could tell his lie was terrible and seemed to give up halfway through.

Ahsoka was aghast. She took in a deep sigh hoping to remove the severe look of disappointment on her face and knew it did not. Instead, she decided to simply turn around and walk out of the hangar. She couldn't even look at him. She could not handle any more surprises from Captain Rex today. If they were friends at all he would be following her outside.

He was, "Ahsoka…wait!"

This week, for our first 'loyal reader,' we had a chance to chat with Ennie, a very enthusiastic and passionate reader. Keep reading to find out what she has to say about her start in the fandom to her favorite story.

KCL: For our first question we would like you to introduce yourself! What's your name or alias? And could you mention your username?

Ennie: Hi! My name is Ennie and my tumblr username is @enniec123.

KCL: Thank you for allowing us to interview you. We are really excited about this. So let’s jump in with this question: how and when did you join the Klaroline fandom?

Ennie: Yeah, of course! I joined the Klaroline fandom because my friend is really into the show and had been telling me to watch it for a long time, so I binged all 3 shows in spring 2020.

Before watching the show, I knew the bare minimum, which was that he's a bad guy and she's a good guy, very black and white. I also knew that Klaroline was a thing and was kinda confused as to how they could be together because they were on opposite sides. Keep in mind, I knew basically nothing, and I had only really read friends to lovers ships before watching the show. Next, I watched the iconic 3x11 scene, then immediately saw why they were so loved and jumped on board so fast.

KCL: Would you say after watching the memorable 3x11 scene, that it was what drew you to Klaus and Caroline ship? Could you explain what exactly drew you in?

Ennie: 3x11 is definitely what drew me into them. In my opinion, there was nothing really platonic about that whole scene. First of all, the words he used and the way he said them were really soft and different compared to what we had seen before. Until this point, we knew him as the ruthless killer, then he becomes softer and is telling her that there is a huge world out there, waiting to be explored. The other part was that he leaned in really close while talking, and he could have put his blood in a glass and give it to her, but instead, he offered his arm, brought her close, and stroked her hair.

KCL: You answered that beautifully! Their first scene together is definitely one of the most popular ones here in the fandom! After falling in love with the Klaus and Caroline ship, do you remember the first story you've read?

Ennie: I was kind of shocked that I remembered which fic brought me into reading more Klaroline, it feels like it was forever ago, not 9-ish months. Before TVD, I was reading Gendrya fics from the GOT universe, and I knew that as soon as I started reading Klaroline fics I would not be reading other fics anymore. So, I waited a few months after finishing the show, and I think around August/September-ish I saw that one of my fav Gendrya writers also wrote 3 Klaroline fics. Then I was like "ok, maybe ill read them and see what happens."

My first fic was either Right Place, Wrong Time or When Life Changes by @psychvamp25. Then I binged all of @honestgrins one-shot/drabbles. Everything snowballed from there, and here we are today.

Right Place, Wrong Time is the fic that made me start to love time travel fics and the viking era fics. When Life Changes made me love the period fics and the ones that they were together for a long time. Then I read @bellemorte180's Original Caroline fic and I was a goner. Original Caroline is definitely one of my favorite tropes.

KCL: It's impressive that you still remember your first story! And it seems like you have spent a lot of time reading. On average, what would you say is the number of hours you have spent reading stories?

Ennie: It honestly depends on how busy I am. I like to binge stories, and read till like 2 am. I know it's a very bad habit, and I am working on it. If I am busy then maybe 1 hour-ish during the day and 2 at night so 1-3 hours. If I have a break in school, then I would read for an entire day. If I have more time while it's a school week, then maybe 3-8 hours a day, sometimes more depending on how late I stay up… I realize now that I have a problem. Yikes. A lot basically.

KCL: That's nothing to feel bad about! We’re sure that there are many others who are on the same boat as you, we certainly are! Since you do a lot of reading, do have any favourite authors? Could you share a couple of them?

Ennie: I have so many favorite authors. KCL: We are so lucky to have so many talented authors in this community, where we can always enjoy reading new or rereading stories from them. Before we dive into your favorite story, what are you currently reading so we can add it to our reading list?

Ennie: I am currently rereading Endlessly by @slstmaraudersjple. Another one of my favies.

KCL: Thank you for sharing! We will definitely be checking it out. So far, you have mentioned your first stories and your favorite authors, but what would you say is your favorite KC story?

Ennie: Only Human by @peacefulvillagefairone is one of my favorite fics. Besides The Wolf 2, I will say this is definitely my favorite story.

KCL: We love that story too! It’s one of our favorites! In your own words, could you give us a brief summary of the story?

Ennie: I suck at summaries because I end up spoiling it, but I will try my best.

Caroline is human and wants to know more about Klaus because he doesn't open up a lot to her. She gets sent back in time to when the originals were human. From that point on, she goes on an adventure to try to get back to her time but not before trying to dodge trouble that comes her way.

KCL: That was such a great summary! And what was it that you loved about the author’s writing style?

Ennie: In my opinion, the story is very light. There is a lot of fluff but there is also a lot of plot. It's centered around time traveling and I really love that. It's about the adventures that they go on and how Caroline gets to see different versions of Klaus.

I think that the fic is a fun ride. It's a non-thinking story which I really enjoy. Don’t get me wrong, I love really analytical fics that make me think a lot, but when your brain needs a break from real life and you don't want to think a lot then this fic is perfect. There are some mysteries in the fic that make you think but it gets revealed soon and there are a lot of hints so it's a fun mystery to solve without deep diving into it.

KCL: Our next question is what made you fall in love with the story? Was it the chemistry between Klaus and Caroline? The conflict in the story or maybe the character arcs?

Ennie: I thought that it was a different story because it starts with Klaus and Caroline getting together when she was human and then time traveling. I loveeeee domestic and established kc and the fic shows them being physically together but not mentally together if that makes sense.

The fic shows the progression of their trust and how deeply they fall in love with each other. While I do love fics that start with them not together, sometimes I want a long fic with a lot of fluff. This story has a balance of plot and fluff. It's a beautiful story. It's on the longer side but it makes me really happy. If I'm feeling down, then I skip around the fic to reread my favorite parts.

KCL: We agree! We enjoy a good story of Klaus and Caroline in a domestic setting too. And for our last question, what would you want to say to readers who haven't read your favorite story yet?

Ennie: I hope you read it and it brings you joy and satisfaction like it did to me.

I have neat pick about Dt17

they did Gladstone kind of dirty 

this one is a strange one cause I get its a different version of the character and I actually really liked his ep in S1. But my issue is they didn’t carry anything over from it to s3 ep 8. Like the last scene of the s1 ep was him almost having a realization and new resolve, that was all to short lived because of his luck, which is GREAT. Cause it showed Gladstone was literally in his own way and that his luck was also his personal down fall.

But in s3 ep 8

When he did actually lose his luck he had nothing even close to that earlier moment of reflection he just sobbed in the coroner. But here’s the thing in his intro ep he was trapped and in trouble and his luck could not get him out, So why was he cool and clam then?? like just explain it at least.

And loosing his luck is the biggest/most memorable story about Gladstone as a character, as it shows who he is underneath his luck!!!!!!!!! and the dt17 crew WASTED IT which is super unlike this crew to do. It just fills me with pettiness and I just hate wasted story lines.              

Gladstone can be a interesting when looking at him compared to Scrooge, like they both have everything they could ever ask for but for different reasons, Scrooge earned it (and depending of the version is super greedy) but is always frugal, where as life just kind of gives everything to Gladstone and he will give it away in a heart beat cause he knows there will be something round the corner for him.      

and when Frank mentioned that DT17 Gladstone is (and I’m paraphrasing) high on entitlement, I don’t think that real fits or explains any of his actions in the show, he has literally offered the boys a bucket of diamonds for no reason and with no prompting 

and I will give you every single thing I own if you can find an entitled person who would do that.

I think they might have been going for a “trust fund kid” vibe with Gladstone but it just didn’t come across, like his luck was is gravy train and so nothing else really mattered to him. but as I said that last moment with him in season 1 (intro ep) showed that he can and DOES have deeper thoughts. So where the hell were they, I would have been happy with a 10 sec convo with him and Lena that was just.

“How’d you get to be so lucky anyway?”

“It was my mothers luck, its all she gave me and its all I have. So, I need it back right now” [falls in puddle]

and THATS it 

that alone would tell us everything we needed to know to have a bit of understanding of Gladstone here in the ep and as a character (with a dash of development).

and it sets up a parallel for Lena, as she is running and pushing away her family magic and Gladstone is desperately trying to find/ cling to his.

and it would make sense for him to tag along and stick around cause he is driven to get his family legacy back (and boom just tied it into the seasons theme to). 

anyway I will be petty about this forever, but I can end my mini rant here.

For your other works, I'd say Catherine and George first kiss (such a beautiful surprise), Hazel being capable to take Julian in Bastogne (what a queen) and basically all Lizzie and Floyd moments because all of them are so iconic and it's difficult to think only one

[i could truly go on my friend, even more so hehe] but i will contain myself for the sake of this ask! BUT ENTIRELY AGREE; it is pivotal of showing deep down that natia cares, just we see how stuck she is in this whirlwind of war :(

THAT CHAPTER :( i’ll admit, since about week 2 of writing that was always the goal to write a scene like that and looking back, it’s heart wrenching, truly. it’s one of those scenes where, though i knew it would be painful and with some heavy topics, it was one that needed to be addressed. IM GLAD IT WAS MEMORABLE THO! :,) it it certainly always memorable for me!

HAZEL! TINY!! my precious bean!! (oh how i miss her!!) yes! that was such an important scene to her more than anything and i was beyond happy to write it because in my mind, in that moment, her in that situation was one that needed to be written and i’m so glad i wrote it! it showed her morals, her character and her view of war. MAN, i think i need to go back and take a read just to read her character again!!

“everything’s fine” scene-

starting off with an emotional scene! when i first watched this scene, i cried SO much. just seeing jake say that with that weak smile, knowing that yes he feels more comforted talking to amy but he still doesn’t know when he’ll actually get to properly see and talk to her :( this broke me and even now if i were to rewatch the scene, i will cry i definitely will.

jake and amy talking about their experience babysitting terry’s kids-

this is basically the first time we hear them talk about kids tgt, so ofc a memorable moment. but something i love about this scene is not just how u can tell they love kids, but jake’s smile while amy talks about kids. he definitely was thinking about the future in which he has kids with her! literally that’s the smile of a man who wants to have kids with her! and amy’s enthusiasm was the absolute cutest my bb 🥺🥺 anyways yea such a cute scene and now they have their own kiddo 🥺

the way jake and amy look at each other before they kiss in the s6 finale-

i mean we can all agree that we were all mad about this scene, cuz we didn’t get to see the kiss. but sometime i love about this scene is how they just look at each other and decide “hey i wanna kiss you rn”. all those mfs gotta do is look into each other’s eyes they really can have a whole convo by just looking at each other. 12: Favourite character to write about this year

Stephanie Brown, easy. She's my spirit animal, so I might be doing a touch of projecting, but I honestly don't care. She's just pure chaos in the best way. Some of my favourite lines that I've written are for her. Such as:

"My waffles await!"

"FEAR ME!"

"Welcome to Steph’s Glitter Bomb Palace, Where Snitches get Stitches™! So don’t tell Bruce or I’ll sic Jason on you."

She's also the character I've gotten the most comments on. People really seen to enjoy how I write her!

A close second would be Duke Thomas. Bliss, a fic I wrote for the 2020 Duke Week, was one of my favourites! Or maybe Damian? His dialogue just comes easy to me.

I loved the game playing and the fact that I could watch (open-mouthed) as Bruce Wayne enjoyed childlike fun with his children and Alfred(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) was the cherry on top of the icing on top of the cake. Based on THIS Incorrect Quotes. Talia moves into the Manor because she's sick of Ra's. Featuring a bunch of good mom!Talia.

Based off THIS Incorrect Quotes. Jason runs for President as Red Hood. I have so many ideas! This'll be really fun.

Loosely based on THIS post. It explores Jason and Cassandra's relationship, and how it evolves.

Duke Thomas Big Bang Fic (can't say much, but it'll be great!)

Platonic (need to be certain you understand that. There were some misconceptions w/ my Discord server) Slow Burn between Tim and Damian. At the beginning the absolutely despise each other. But over time they realise their own insecurities, and how they don't actually hate the other. And by the end they fully admit and embrace their being brothers.

Reverse Robins with Damian as the oldest (I made THIS post talking about it a while back. But I've highly revised it.)

Birdflash

Birdflash in the JL/JLU universe (based off that one hexagon by @novaviis ! Super fun!). The league is inviting potential members to the Watchtower one day. Except Wally wasn't there during the choosing of said members. So he's completely shocked when his husband Nightwing shows up. They have to act like they don't know each other, which basically involves Dick flirting his butt off with Wally, Wally trying desperately to remain professional, Bruce digging in the corner, the rest of the League in varying degrees of disapproval and confusion (at least a couple have seen Wally's wedding ring. So that adds a while 'nother layer).

Young Justice soulmate au. Dick, and eventually everyone else, knows that Wally is his soulmate. Wally is oblivious. Lots of pining and angst in this one. Slow burn to an extent (depends on how long I make it). But definitely a happy fluffy ending in sight!

Batfam Meets Young Justice

THIS fic.

Duke gets yeeted into the YJ universe, and promptly passes out. He wakes up in the Watchtower, and breaks out of the confinement the Team has set up for him. Pulls shenanigans (some unwittingly) and used his powers. The Team and JL are confused, and panicking. Because this guy keeps muttering things about the Batfam. And he has a bat on his chest.

The Team break into some ancient temple after getting info on a new Supervillian plot. They find purple clothed woman draped across a throne. She talks, and they panic, as she knows all their secret identities. The only one who isn't, is Tim. He looks bored. Alternatively: Steph needs Tim's credit card to take his sister out on a date, and absolutely refuses to text.

While the Team is on a mission to stop Lady Shiva, a dimensional portal opens up and spits out a strange Robin (Damian) and what seemed to be a female Batman (Cass as Black Bat). This new dynamic due promptly defeats Lady Shiva and all the goons. The Team is freaked out, and 'apprehends' the dimensional anomalies, bringing them back to the Watchtower. Where the due promptly break and and start chaos. Featuring "Toxic" by Britney Spears. I will not explain why.

The Watchtower gets a sudden emergency message from the Batcave. They accept, to find a stranger calling himself Signal panicking about Robin being missing. They all look at Tim, who ignores them, and says that he doesn't know where Robin is. Some naming shenanigans occur.

(Not sure if this fits here, oh well) Set in Season One, Bruce is tired of Clark's attitude towards Superboy, and adopts the clone himself. Not sure how far this'll go, but at least goes through Dick's time as Robin. (Based on THIS Tumblr post)

(Also iffy on placement) a continuation of one (not sure which? Probably Damian as older) Reverse Robins fics. It's a retelling of Season One of YJ, with Dick as Robin. Nightwing (Damian) feels protective of his brother, and so takes on the role Black Canary had in the show, training the Team. But as time goes on, he ends up being more of a big brother to the group. Cameos from the rest of the Batfam as well! And an Identity Reveal (including finding out Dick and Dami are brothers) at the end!

Batfam Meets the Justice League

Cass takes over being Batman for a bit, because Bruce was an idiot and broke his leg. This happens to line up with when the Justice League reach out to the Dark Knight, in order to extend an invitation to the league. They eventually meet Bruce as Batman, and are confused as to why he is so tall. And male.

Joyfire

Lian accidentally reveals her three parents' relationship by calling Bruce 'grandpa' over dinner.

Museum Heist

THIS fic

Operation: Seduce Nightwing. Based on a post for an ATLA ot3, Wally and Artemis realise silumaneously “Hey, we kinda have the hots for Dick” and decide together to see if he likes them back. Which involves a heck ton of over the top flirting, and shenanigans. The Team is sighing on the sidelines at their idiocy. Dick is internally combusting and thinking “Do they like me back? I’’m not sure.” 

5 times Dick and Wally fought over being the middle spoon, and one time Artemis had had enough.

Set in Season 3 (but ignores some canon), Bart is kidnapped by some mad scientist obsessed with the Speed Force. The Team mobilizes, and gets Bart back from the evil base. But when they get there, they find Wally West freed from the Speed Force. He and Artemis reunite, and everyone is happy. They prepare to leave. Then the Pick-up Squad arrive in the bioship, and Dick gets out. Everyone is expecting Dick to give Wally a hug, because hey, he's his best friend! What they weren't expecting was him to run forward and pull the speedster into a passionate kiss. They go back to the Watchtower, and some more stuff happens.

Soulmate AU where the first thing your soulmate says to you after they fall in love with you is tattooed on your body.

Post Season Two Get Together. Starts with Artemis living with Dick as opposed to Will. Might be Slow Burn? (They come pretty close to kissing) Eventually Wally comes back. Arty and Wally are back together. They both live in the same house as Dick, for convenience. Then some more Slow Burn happens. Maybe some Birdflash moments. Arty tells Wally she kinda had a thing for Dick. Wally admits the same. Maybe a touch more Slow Burn. They Eventually get together.

Batlantern

AU where Bruce met Hal back when he first came back to Gotham. Fic goes through how their relationship evolves over the years (up until current time, when Damian is 13). I'm considering a relationship reveal with the Justice League.

Hal's interactions with Bruce's kids.

Green Lantern Corp acting protective of Hal when Bruce comes to Oa. This was an ask that I got, and I'm holding off on writing it till I get as much into on the GL's as possible, as all I know if their characterization comes from that animated series, and Guy Gardener's (Hilarious!) parts on Young Justice.

Marvel

Like 3 different versions of the Peter Parker Field Trip to Stark Tower Trope.

2-part Crossover with the Batfam (they exist in the same universe), where the Avengers go to a Wayne Gala, and interact with the family. The second chapter involves them heading out the next night to try and contact Batman.

Just a complete random question:

What’s your favorite literally device? I probably got the term wrong but, what is it in literature or any written work that makes you super giddy and won’t shut up about it? Mine is when authors bring back something so minuscule that turns out to have a really big significance or mythological/religious symbolism (ie. Icarus, Persephone/bitting the apple, etc)

uhhh this is one of those things where i know it in the moment but i cant just pull it out from memory...now im trying to think of some of them. and i think the term you're looking for is strategy?? im not sure but device is usually more like metaphor, imagery, that kinda stuff. but i think one of my favorites in literature would have to be kinda the same as yours, actually! minus the religous/symbolism aspect. my favorite thing is where something small and seemingly innocent, but for me it's an object or a line of dialogue rather than a symbol, from the beginning turns out to be crucial in the end. i cant think of an example from like actual literature right now but think cheesy dibbles from penguins of madagascar. they start as a kinda ridiculous gag throughout the movie, and then somehow become incredibly important by the end. and yes im using penguins of madagascar as an example for this. that movie is a cinematic masterpiece.

and something that i know for sure, my favorite sitcom strategy/trope thing. you didn't ask but i wanted to share an actual favorite thing of mine. i love the classic misunderstanding. from a two person conversation where each person thinks they're talking about something completely different to a situation where each person in a huge group thinks something completely different is happening and it all comes to a horrible and hilarious head in the climax of the episode. my example for the first one is in new girl, if you've seen it, the jess/nick convo about cece/the popcorn machine. and my most recent fav of the second one is this one modern family episode where luke is dating that 40 year old woman. there's more to the episode but that's the most memorable detail for me. oh and also claire thinks manny is telling her about his sexual experiences. and luke's older girlfriend thinks jay thinks she's a prostitute, and yeah. you can see why i think this stuff is absolutely hilarious, right?

He kissed your forehead at some point and you looked at him with a big smile on your face. It was little things like this,that made you fall for him even more.He kept looking at you like you were the most precious thing in the world. And you were his.

"I love you"he said and it felt like the first time he used this 3 words. The butterflies kicked in.

"I love you too baby"you leaned and kissed gently his lips. His right hand moved to your cheek,keeping you closer to him. You tried to memorize everything. His moves,the feelings you got from this kiss. Everytime they got even stronger.

You climbed up to him.You stopped the kiss and stared at love of your life,checking every inch of his face. His hair,his forehead,his eyebrows,eyes,nose. You left two little kisses on his cheeks and smiled at him seeing his bright smile light up the whole room.

"Tomorrow is a special day"you said excited for tomorrow's surprise. He always wanted to take you on a little quick boat trip so you were about to make his wish come true. And then for a romantic dinner at a restaurant,having the sea as your view. In your head every detail was perfect.

You felt the need to cry from happiness. His words left you speechless. You hugged him with all the powers you got. You wanted to stay there for ever and never leave. Your everything was looking at you.

"I can't believe I got this lucky. The first time I saw you I remember telling my best friend how handsome you looked from the other side of the room and she said to me that I had actually the ability to make you fall for me. But you made me fall for you quicker that I thought.

With the words you speak,with your touch,even when your eyes are looking to me I am falling harder. The moment you saw me that day the world stopped. I will never forget that"you said to him and you saw from the mirror behind him how red your face turned. Was that even possible?

A scream from the T.V. made you both to jump. Was that even on this entire time? You got up to close it and started laughing from how scared you got.

You sat again this time next to him moving your feet up to his. You yawned and closed your eyes as you approached him and fell to his shoulder.

"Did that ruined the moment?"you asked.

"I think it made it even better"he joked."Do you want to sleep? I don't think you are comfortable here darling"the last thing you wanted to do is to get up. You whispered a weak no and moved closer to his body.

"What was your first impression of me?"you asked the only thing you didn't know after 1 and a half years in this relationship.

He stared at the dark sky and remained silent. Your eyes now wide open waited for his voice. But he wouldn't start. And that's when you stared thinking things you never did. Like was it that bad that he didn't want to say them out loud,especially sharing them with you,his girlfriend?

"Harry saw you first"he said talking for his little brother. The only sentence you didn't expect at all.

"What?"you asked now looking at him curious.

"Yes. He turned to me and said'A cute girl just came in'but I didn't pay any further attention to him. But he couldn't stop looking. That's when I got mad. So I told him to show me that 'cute girl'he couldn't take his eyes off. And then. Man.

You were standing there wearing that black sateen dress and your hair down wavy. Your hands moved as you kept speaking to your friends like you owned the place. You seemed confident. Your lips were red from your lipstick and I gotta say I imagined what was like kissing them. Then you looked at me.

I kept my breath. I didn't know what to do. That's why I looked away fast. I suddenly felt nervous and weak. Just from your eyes. I stared breathing heavily and the boys understood what happened. I never got to know how but to be honest I don't even care.

That's when I realized why my brother was not paying attention to us. And he wasn't wrong.

After a little while I looked at you again hoping that was just my imagination and yet. You were still there looking absolutely gorgeous. I wanted to make you fall for me the way I did for you.

Then you came to us. Your voice sounded so sweet. I melted right there and you didn't noticed. God you were a angel straight from Heaven. I was just standing there scanning you without being able to speak. I got scared that if I might even say a word you were going to disappear.

Eventually I did.

 My heart was beating so fast that I was surprised none of you listened. I never felt like this in my entire life. You made me fall in love with you. So your friend was right. I was ready for you to come and light up my life.

While we were leaving I said to Harry that I was sorry for my behavior. But he got your phone number. He smiled and gave it to me saying that it was my time to shoot my shot. And look at us now."

Damn that was a lot to hear. You never knew the power you got over him Your eyes were sweating hearing his first impression of you. You felt guilty for your previous thoughts.

Seeing his face and recalling that first time you met each other me were enough for you to start cry and fell into his arms. You were happy. The most you have ever been.

"Why are crying baby?That wasn't what I had in plan. Stop and look at me"he said and you tried to follow what he said

"You're breaking my heart y/n. Stop baby please"he wiped your tears but new came.

"They are happy tears Tommy. I'm happy"you said quietly and faced him with your blurry vision.

He was the one for you and you knew it.

"I want you to laugh when you're happy not cry. I need to see your smile not your tears."

"I'll try I swear"you said and he kissed you so that you could calm. Tom knew how to calm you in every situation,either you were sad or mad.

"I have something for you but I'll take care of it. Ill tell them to bring it maybe the next day."he tried to stand up but you blocked him and forced him to stay with you.

"It can just wait until we come back?We can arrive earlier if this is what you want"

"No it's okay"he said and smiled but you could feel that he was a little upset.

It was just a gift that could be shipped to you and wait outside your door. It seemed easy to you.

"Baby if it is going to be shipped to us,we can go and take it after. You don't have to push it back"you said and held his hand to yours.

"The puppy isn't going to be shipped to us" WHAT PUPPY?

"A puppy?"you yelled at him excited.

He placed his hand to his lips looking at you shocked. He just revealed his surprise gift to you.

"Oh my God I feel so stupid"he covered his face. You sat on your knees in front of him trying to hug him.

A puppy was about to become part of your "family". A small being which you could cuddle all day. Something that you could share your love with. You were above the clouds.

"This is the best gift. Well after you but still. Don't feel stupid at all"you said and tried to take his hands from his face.

"I just ruined the surprise. I can keep a secret at all"you laughed at him and kissed his cheeks. His eyes met yours and the disappointment was painted at his face but to you he looked adorable and your mind tried to take a picture of this moment.

"No you did not! We are going to come home earlier and go take the puppy. Oh Gosh! We are about to get a puppy! Can you imagine that?"you asked him and yourself. You could see the two of you taking the little dog out for a walk,or play around the house all day.

You kissed his lips from the excitement you got. He held you. As the time went on it got deeper and deeper.

You tried to take control but he won. You followed his rytmh enjoying every second of it. You were complete.

"I think we should go get some sleep. Tomorrow is a big day" Tom said and you took him to your bedroom.

You couldn't stop but think about the next day. You wanted to be perfect just for him. But it was nothing compared to what he got for you.

Reveling In Richonne

#162: The Ocean (10x08)

It was such a breath of fresh air to have Michonne and Judith Grimes back on our screens after it had been a minute. And of course they offer up some adorable and memorable moments.

I love that in this episode Judith wants to document everything and go to the library and Michonne can’t help but give into her daughter’s request.

When they’re in the library it’s sweet to see Michonne say they could read a book together. I love the idea of them having their own little mother daughter book club. See, Michonne is raising Judith to not just be a warrior but a smart and well-read warrior. Versatile queens. 👑😌

Then, of course, it’s heartbreaking that Michonne has to learn that Siddiq passed over the walker talkie. He was one of her closest friends post-time jump and also such a significant representation of Carl, since helping Siddiq was Carl’s final kind act.

I know as a leader and a friend, this news hits Michonne especially hard, and yet they have to keep pushing to Oceanside.

(Side Note: For me, one of the most infuriating parts of Siddiq’s death was that he didn’t get to live on as Carl’s legacy. Two seasons later and Carl’s still being disrespected. I’m just saying 😒)

Once they get there they have to deal with Virgil, aka Michonne’s gateway to her exit on the show. As he tries to escape, Judith shuts that down real quick with her sword and calls for her mom. And Michonne commends her saying “good girl”. Yet another reminder that Judith is like her mom and handles business.

When Virgil is tied up, he looks over and sees Judith casually reading. Our baby is a bookworm. ☺️ He tells her to put that back cuz it’s for his daughter and Judith is like uh....nah lol. Then Michonne comes and has a very telling convo with Virgil.

One thing I appreciated post-s9 time jump is how we got quite a few moments where people acknowledge how similar Michonne and Judith are. Like Virgil noting how Judith is a little demon with that sword. And so much of that is because Judith sees the great woman her mother is and aspires to be like her. Judith is being raised, taught, and influenced by the absolute best.

And I absolutely love Michonne’s response of, “Like mother like daughter”. And I’m here for it when sis also lets Virgil know, he won’t exactly heal from the things her sword can do. #truth.

Michonne and Rick truly are cut from the same cloth. Cuz Rick used to also let people know that if they try him or his family stitches wouldn’t fix what he did to them. That’s the Ain’t Nothing To Play With Grimes for you. 👌🏽

The notables from Virgil and Michonne’s conversation to me was one; Michonne emotionally recalling the words Siddiq introduced into her and Rick’s life, “my mercy prevails over my wrath”.

When she first learned Siddiq died in the library she couldn’t fully express emotion, since so much was going on. So it’s heartbreaking to see her get this moment to let out just how devastated she is.

One of the many wonderful things about Michonne is she keeps the spirit of her loved ones alive. Even amidst her pain, she carries on their light and legacy. Like with Carl, she made sure his letters would be heard. And with Siddiq she lets his mantra live on. Even when it would be so easy to be wrathful, she chooses mercy and it’s a beautiful thing.

But the most heartbreaking line of all in this conversation is when Michonne reminds Virgil of why it’s crucial he be truthful and not try anything. She says, “So you’re trying to get home? Just tell me where that is. This is how you get back to your family. Your wife and kids don’t know where you are, or whether you’re ever gonna come back. Don’t put them through that.” Man 🥺 Such a telling parallel.

Clearly this statement isn’t just random advice for Virgil, Michonne is speaking from experience that hits extremely close to home. She knows Virgil has a family and she knows full well what it’s like for children to lose their father, for a wife to lose her husband, to not know where he is or if he’s just gone indefinitely.

As much as Virgil is a stranger, she can feel empathy that he is just a person who wants to get back to his family. Because all she wants is for Rick to be back with her and their family.

I mean the line of “your wife and kids don’t know where you are or if you’re ever going to come back” is spot on to Michonne and her kids situation with Rick. There were quite a few moments in season nine where it was clear that, for Michonne, the “not knowing” of Rick’s death/disappearance is one of the most painful parts.

She mentions it to Daryl when they bring Jesus’ body back to Hilltop, stating how it’s important that the people he loves get to bury him and have that closure and how she and Daryl are sorry they couldn’t do that with Rick.

She also mentions it to shadier-than-shady-boots Joycelyn when she says her children deserve to know for certain where their father ended up. And even in the way she continued to look for Rick while fully pregnant indicates just how important it was to her that they know where Rick is, even if he wasn’t alive.

I feel for Michonne so much, having to carry that lack of closure and that heavy question of “what if?” for so many years. Its like she basically had to tell herself he didn’t make it while also knowing deep down that it isn’t confirmed.

Michonne knows the unique pain of losing your love without the closure of knowing their fate, which is why she utters the “don’t put them through that line” so adamantly. She doesn’t even know Virgils family, but she knows no family should have to experience that kind of pain and uncertain loss.

Hearing her talk about Virgil’s family gave crystal clear insight into Michonne’s own feelings towards what her own little family has gone through. Danai’s delivery was of course excellent and it was moving how this comment was just as much about her and Rick and their Grimes family as it was about Virgil and his family.

This scene made me think about Rick being in Virgil’s position somewhere, desperate to get back home and reunite with his wife and kids.

If nothing else, that HAS to happen before this TWD story concludes. Cuz there’s no better closure than the reunion of Rick and his beautiful family. It’ll be so rewarding to see this pain Michonne has carried be alleviated, as she finally gets to know where her man is, since he’ll be back where he’s meant to be, with her. 😌🙌🏽

Is 2x07 your favorite because of villaneve (ear)phone sex?

I could write a whole essay on why 2x07 appeals so much to me specifically

I know no one likes Aaron, but I love him. I relate to him a lot (minus the murder and the billion dollars). I’m obsessed with his speech about how he never gets lonely, has no desire for human interaction, and would rather observe people’s lives from afar. I’m the same way, and he’s the only other person real or fictional I’ve ever seen who also doesn’t experience loneliness.

Rome. I studied Latin and Classical Culture in college.

Villanelle gorging on pasta, my favorite food. It’s soo satisfying watching her absolutely stuff her face. I completely understand Aaron’s weird kink.

The bread hand touch.

Bread in general. I would also like to watch Villanelle eat bread and ice cream and chocolate and pasta. Those are the best food groups. Again, Aaron’s onto something.

Just the fact that we got that (micro)phone sex was absolutely wild. That’s still the sexiest Villaneve have ever been, and that “good morning” and snuggle into the pillows rivals some of the best 3x08 softness. I can’t believe how blessed we were.

You’re welcome!” The sexiness of “I’m not with them when I’m with them” and the emotion of “I feel things when I’m with you.” Villanelle’s robe. “I’m not dressed.” “I don’t care.” The framing. The acting. Literally every second of that scene is a masterpiece.

It’s so fresh to see her openly flirting with someone other than Niko and really marked a turning point in their relationship. It wasn’t just that Villanelle was her exception, it was that she was a completely changed person willing to flirt with a psychopath and take advantage Hugo “Human Dildo” Chambers/Turner/Tiller just because she felt like it.

In the same vein, Hugo changing and saying “Don’t watch me. I know what you’re like” and Eve being offended because he’s right lmao

“Cooped up in a hotel room with nothing to do. How will we pass the time?”

“Set up everything in here.” “Why’s it got to be in my room?” “Because I don’t want all this shit in my room.” I love selfish Eve.

I think 2x07 was actually the peak of Dark Eve. Sure she kills someone in 2x08 and again in 3x07, but she kind of regrets it both times or at least feels guilty. In 2x07 she’s taking advantage of people and manipulating them and giving in to her own desires without a care in the world. She stands up to Villanelle when she gets jealous, she ignores Kenny’s warnings because she wants to see Villanelle, she sends herself and Hugo to Rome knowing its dangerous because she wants to see Villanelle, she flirts with the murder dude, she makes the conversation with the therapist about herself because she wants to indulge, she gets impatient with the Peel case and is quick to insult Hugo every time he disagrees with her methods, she doesn’t care when Hugo gets upset about being out of the loop with the threesome (the 2x08 coffee scene where Hugo is pissy about the night before and Eve’s only concern is that her coffee is cold has strong 2x07 energy and is an honorable mention scene). She doesn’t give a fuck about anyone but herself and Villanelle the whole episode and it’s beautiful.

I love Hugo with my whole heart. Aside from Aaron, Hugo is the second character I see the most of myself in. I relate to his sense of humor and I think I would probably be some rich posh douchebag boy like him in an alternate dimension. I love that he gets featured so much in the episode, and it’s really his character’s climactic episode. He finally gets to succeed in his missions of banging Eve and taking down Aaron before going down in 2x08. I just like seeing my boy happy.

The cheeky face Hugo makes when the receptionist mistakes Eve and Hugo for a couple.

The way you completely forget about Niko and Gemma in the storage unit until the very end of the episode when you least expect it and it shows you their fate as a shocking cliffhanger juxtaposed with the morning after Villaneve softness in the scene immediately before it. What a rollercoaster. What a way to end on a high note.

Gemma’s murder is probably the most gruesome murder of the show for me. Not that I enjoy gruesome murder, but it’s another aspect of the episode that really stands out. Her face in that bag? Genuinely creepy. Yet the fragile tape is funny. It’s a great example of that blend of comedy and darkness that makes this show so unique.

The pink and black title card is one of the best opening color schemes of the whole show.

This list is an unorganized hot mess and I probably missed stuff, but you get my point.

There’s not a single weak spot in the episode. From the acting, the directing, the writing, the music, the costumes, the set design, I love every moment of every scene, and I can’t believe Emerald Fennel wrote it just for me.

for the MGS ask game (oooh these are all so cool but I'll try to restrain myself ... a little): 3, 8, 15, 18, 27, 40, 42, 45

It is a very juicy list, lol!  These are very nice choices. :)

3. Is there anything you would change about the plot?

AH... I have so many mixed feelings about this.  Probably the single biggest aspect of the plot that I wish had been different, from a purely selfish emotional standpoint, is the ending of mgs4.  But would I actually want to change it, if I could?  Yikes.  Hard to say.

I remember playing through 4 for the first time, and hoping SO HARD that they were going to find some kind of miraculous solution to save Snake because that entire game is, like, one big gut punch.  But watching the narrative arc unfold, it became increasingly clear that a surprise “happy ending” like that would ultimately feel cheap, and unearned.  That tension between what I *wanted* to happen, and what I knew made sense for the story as written.  

(I have SO MANY THOUGHTS about the mgs4 ending in general, but I will try hard to rein them in here since they’re not really all that relevant to the question here.  Ha.  Self control is hard!)

So, yeah.  Ultimately, I think things played out in a way that felt right.  BUT, DAMN.

8: Favourite little detail in a game?

I have lots of these that I love!  For this round, I’m going to say - the way your cardboard box starts to look increasingly battered if you’ve been shot at while wearing it.  Looking a bit crumpled, flaps falling off, etc.  And just the way you look when you’re running around in it, in general.  LONG LIVE THE BOX.

15: Quotes you think about most often?

Another good one, that I’m happy to give multiple answers for!  I’m quite partial to the exchange that Snake and Otacon have over Sniper Wolf’s body, as Snake is walking away through the snow:

“What was she fighting for?  What am I fighting for?  What are you fighting for?”

And Snake’s answer: “If we make it through this, I’ll tell you.”

It’s a good character moment between the two of them, and a bit of insight into what’s driving them both at that point in the story.

18: Most wtf scene?

Another wonderful moment from mgs2... God, I wish I could go back and play that whole game again for the first time.  So much great stuff.

Raiden being freed from the torture table in Arsenal Gear, and getting control again as the player while he’s... completely naked.  Running around with his hands over his junk.  And then you proceed to play like this for a fair amount of time before you finally get your clothes back - because why the fuck not, I guess??

NAKED CARTWHEELS, people.  You can’t make this shit up.

27: Underrated character?

Hmm... I’m going to go with maybe Strangelove, here??  I like her a lot, and I think it’s interesting to think about how different Hal’s life might have been if she had lived.  I do feel like she gets a fair amount of love in fandom considering that she’s a relatively minor character, but I wish she could have had a bigger role on-screen in the series.

40: Do you own any merchandise?

Ha - I do indeed!  I will sometimes get mgs stuff from my family for birthday/Christmas gifts, etc.  So I own a couple of T-shirts, a couple of the Figma action figures (which are pretty fantastic), and the Otasune plushie set that just came out recently.

42: Most memorable codec call?

Can I award this to all of Otacon’s “save frequency” proverbs in the mgs2 tanker chapter, collectively??  This was another thing that sold me on the series, right off the bat.  Those convos are pure gold.

45: Do you want another game or should the series be left alone?

Oh, that’s tough.  I’m torn, because it’s hard not to want MOAR CONTENT, when it comes to anything you love.  But there’s also something comforting about having everything be *finished,* so you can look at it as a whole and appreciate the overall story from beginning to end.  (Though of course that’s always a bit muddy with mgs, since the games tend to jump around a fair amount as far as chronological order goes, and you have different main characters doing things in different time periods, etc.)

If there were going to be any further games, I would potentially be interested in seeing remakes of mg1 and 2.  Otherwise, honestly, I’m pretty satisfied with what we’ve got, and I’d be afraid that any further additions would just make the story messier.

It’s been several months since you’ve last spoken. Almost a year since your last face-to-face chat at the coffee house when she announced her remission from a disease you had no idea plagued her. Her reluctance in sharing her illness with you had quickly turned the taste of your sugary latte into an acrid bitterness. At the time, you were heartbroken and hurt your best friend had suffered that without you. But now, in hindsight, it strikes you as such a Dana thing to do—protect those she loves by tucking away her plight deep beneath the surface where only she can reach it.

Only she and one other, it seems. And tonight, as you pop the first cork of many on an aging bottle of Merlot, you’re determined to find out exactly why this lone man holds access to the depths of her abyss.

The grandfather clock strikes eight just as a soft knock raps at your door. Dana, as punctual as ever, smiles widely under the moonlight and your heart swells at the healthy glow of her skin. You’ve missed her.

“Dana!” You smile back and wrap your arms around her tiny frame before she can reply. “I’m so glad you agreed to a girls night in.”

“Ellen!” She nods at the brimming glass of wine in your hand as you wave her into the living room. “Coffee just didn’t seem appropriate after I heard the news.”

You cannot agree more and take a long, satisfying drink. “No, filing for divorce after your husband leaves you is certainly not coffee-worthy convo now is it?”

“I suppose not.”

You stare off into the distance at the family portrait on the wall. Three happy faces look back. The next one will consist of only you and your son, who is currently sleeping soundly in his father’s new one bedroom apartment.

A gentle squeeze of your hand brings you back to your friend. Her kind blue eyes cut through the fog. “I’m sorry, El.”

You squeeze back. “I’m not.”

Three hours, three shots, (two for you and one for her) and three bottles of wine later, Dana giggles on the couch at your side, an empty glass slung loosely between her fingers as she continues spinning her tale of “cute” Fox Mulder and the memorable trip to the forest.

“...but in the end, Mulder was right again, dammit,” Dana groans. Even through the alcoholic haze, you see the rapid pounding of her heart racing through her shirt. Her cheeks are flushed from more than the alcohol and a hint of a smile tugs at her red-stained mouth.

She is beguiled.

You sense she’s much less practiced at the art of holding her liquor these days than you are, all things considered. Heedless of future guilt at dipping your toes into her still, protective waters while she’s clearly drunk, you bravely dive right in to see how long she lets you swim through her secrets.

“Dana, honey, tell me more about this cute partner of yours.”

She groans again, rolling her eyes. “El, I could talk for days about that man. Sometimes I’d rather do much more than talking… and he’s more than ‘cute,’ damn him.”

You choke on a swig of fruity Merlot and grin. “Oh?”

“Yeah,” she chuffs into her hollow glass, as if that thought was somehow worse than being hunted by invisible Mothmen. “The way he walks, his kind eyes, the feel of his hands brushing along my back, that fat bottom lip… He’s hot, El. Sooo very, very hot.”

“Of course he is.” You laugh, having already suspected this the first time she’d mentioned the man years ago as she sat across the table from you, blushing ear to ear. “And what is it you’d rather be doing to him than talking, Miss ‘It’s not like that’ Scully?”

Her eyes flutter languidly as she rolls her head along the back of the couch to meet your stare. “What do you think I want, El?”

“Well, probably what most women would want to do to a man like that if they had the chance.” You swallow the last of your wine and set the glass down on the table at your feet with a clink. “Fuck him.”

You hear her gasp but there is no more giggling. Only silence reigns.

Moments tick by as her lazy gaze sobers into narrowed concentration. “No, Ellen, I don’t.”

Confused, and frankly a little disappointed, you shake your head at her. “You don’t?”

“No.” She tears her eyes away and abruptly snags the fourth bottle of wine, pouring herself another glass. Just before she brings the liquid courage to her lips, she sighs, slurring, “I think I want to make love to him.”

“Oh…” You place a hand to her coiled back, understanding the real problem now; yet realizing as she drains her glass dry, she isn’t ready for you to speak it aloud. “You think?”

She survived cancer, for God’s sake; she deserves to be happy. You want that for her. Just because your love life has turned to shit, that doesn’t mean your best friend can’t enjoy one of her own.

“No.” Her heavy eyes lock onto yours again. They’re suspiciously wet and you can tell she’s frustrated with herself. “I know I do,” she whispers. “And that’s the worst part...”

“What is, Dana?”

You watch her swallow several times as her eyes flick to the portrait of you cradling a newborn Trent in your lap with his father beaming down proudly at the family he’s made. The clock ticks loudly over and over again before her warm hand clutches yours.

“The worst part,” she starts, her voice soft and strained, “is wanting something so badly... but knowing it’s just too much to hope for.”

Yes, you confirm as your eyes fall shut, certainly not coffee-worthy convo indeed.
