You Could Never Hurt Me
Beefy!Natasha Romanoff x Fem!R
I was challenged [I read something someone said (you can only go so soft when you have that much beef in the mix), and made it an unnecessary challenge 🤭]
Warnings: Jealousy, Insecure Nat, aka really soft.
Smut: Ab Riding (R), Fingering (R), Oral (N).

Natasha smiled as she entered the kitchen, it was an unstoppable reaction when seeing you. You’d always been so excitable, so it’s no shock to her that you’re animatedly relaying your last nights events to a bleary eyed Wanda who’s sipping her tea, and mindlessly nodding along.
“This really pretty girl asked for my number!” You shrieked, and Natasha instantly frowned. “Can you believe it Wands? I was shocked.”
Natasha’s frown had managed to deepen, she could believe it without question, you were perfect, too much so for her to ever have, she’d never be enough for you. She was too gruff, and she would only ever hurt you with her ways.
You deserved a tenderness she didn’t feel she could offer you, and it seems you found it.
That had her heart actually snapping in two, she left the kitchen rather abruptly with an unfinished breakfast left behind in her wake.
Wanda shook her head as Natasha took off, she heard her thoughts, and they were followed up by your very own, “You should tell her Y/N/N.”
“It’s no use Wands, she didn’t even look my way,” you dejectedly sigh, and the witch nearly chokes on her cooled beverage, “Are you blind? Her eyes were literally on you the whole time.”
“Why? Is there something on my face?”
“Not yet,” she grumbles, and you softly pout, “I anticipate my hand will leave quite the mark.”
“That’s not very nice, I’m having a crisis, and you want to threaten me,” you huffed, crossing your arms for emphasis as you turned away.
Wanda cackled as she settled her mug down, she slowly made her way over to you, and pulled you in for a hug you didn’t reciprocate, “You are blind, but hear me when I say, she wants you Y/N, but she’s scared of hurting you. Of not being enough, and a whole lot of things you should talk about with her, try tonight.”
Tonight, the Avengers annual charity gala…
Natasha paced her room for hours thinking about what you said. She didn’t stick around to hear if the mystery girl was going to be your plus one tonight, her heart would’ve imploded. The thought of someone else loving you hurt her more than she ever thought imaginable.
But as the time for the party neared she shook off the resentment, she’d try being happy for you tonight, and bury her love for you instead.
That’s what she thought until she saw you at least, you looked stunning, she wasn’t shocked. Of course you did, you managed to make lazy outfits attractive, so you dressed to the nines being the hottest thing she’d ever seen fits.
“You’re drooling,” Yelena chides as she settles by her sister at the bar, and throws up two fingers to the bartender in a silent order.
“Zamolchi,” she grumbled bitterly as she accepted the shot from her sister, downing it in one swift motion that almost painted her as a drunk with the way she didn’t even wince.
(Shut up)
“Go talk to her Natasha,” Yelena encouraged, “She’s got the heart eyes for you, I promise.”
Yelena was your very best friend, even above Wanda, so if anyone knew it’d be her, plus, she was a trained spy, but even more so she had hazel eyes that could see the painfully obvious.
Natasha went to shake her head, to vehemently negate the blondes claims of reciprocity, but then she was in direct route to you before the spitfire beside her could beat her to the punch.
Literally—she punched a sleaze square in the jaw without even breaking a sweat, then she instinctively wrapped her strong arms around your trembling form, “Shh, it’s okay malysh, please don’t cry, you’re safe here, I promise.”
A fluttering commenced in the redheads chest when you burrowed further into her, “I know,” your whispered acknowledgment melted her even further. The redhead gently swayed you, and she smiled softly when your short arms did their best to wrap around her toned body.
The two of you stood there in your embrace for a few minutes, paying no mind to the posse of Avengers that corralled the asshole and gave him the ass kicking of his life for touching you. You weren’t an Avenger, just their assistant for all things PR, but they all loved you as family.
Natasha looked up from your face smushed against her chest, she surveyed the building crowd and she felt a need to shield you further. You’d always hated the attention, so she took it upon herself to lift you off the ground with her hands under your thighs for leverage as she took you as far away from there as possible.
Once she made it to your shared hall she set you down, “Want to watch a movie Y/N?”
“Can we just cuddle instead please Natty?”
Natasha nodded and pulled back causing you to whine, “Come back,” you reached for her and she softly snorted, “I’m getting snacks.”
You wanted to protest, to pull her back in, but for starters you were no match for her strength, and you also had plans that warranted future sustenance so you let her go without a fight.
As soon as she reentered her room she was shocked to find you on her bed in only a sports bra, and short as can be sleep shorts. Keeping her breathing steady was an act of desperation, and when you looked at her so innocently she believed it, missing the way your eyes smirked.
“I got chips, and some bean dip,” she said as she held up the loot, her eyes were lightly hazy and you knew then that Wanda wasn’t lying. Honestly you found her endearing, the way she held eye contact with you over letting her gaze wander like she wanted, “I also stole you a brown sugar pop-tart from Thor’s stash.”
You clapped giddily, “Yes! You’re the best!” then you catapulted from atop the bed and right into her flexed arms. Natasha huffed, and if not for her strength she’d have likely been laid out flat on the floor in a mess of snacks, with a delectable one atop her. However she caught you with ease, and settled the bags down before doing the same with herself.
Natasha’s heart rate was already racing with you on her, it soon picked up though with the way you gently shifted to straddle her lap. She’d cuddled you many times, each one a test of her willpower that she usually won, but you were not helping her as you softly ground your hips into hers while maintaining her gaze, she believed it to be unintentional, but then you suddenly kissed her and she knew it wasn’t.
“Y/N…” she whimpered against your lips, a silent plea for you to stop, but she didn’t mean it, she just feared this was an adrenaline rush sort of response on your end, and she wanted it to be so much more, you were her dream girl.
“Shh, let me thank you properly Natasha,” you pressed against her shoulders, the action was in vain as you were unable to move the brick of a woman, but fortunately for you her already thin resolve had crumbled, so she laid down.
With a nod of approval, and a soft touch you removed her suit jacket, and grey camisole. Natasha’s chiseled physique was even better than you’d imagine it to be, and you were more than ready for her to show you her strength.
“You’re so beautiful Nat,” you ran your fingers over her arms, feeling the muscles beneath jerking at your simple touch, seeing as her skin flushed at your ministrations, and watching as she tried desperately to speak, “Th-thanks.”
You smiled, “You’re most certainly welcome,” and then you leaned down to kiss her again, you were lost in the warm feeling brought on by her lips on yours, but when her whimper reverberated in your mouth, and as you felt your cunt clench with need you were upright, and her black slacks and panties went with you.
Natasha’s chest heaved as she tried to calm herself down, which was proving impossible as she had a front row seat to you undressing. You were sure to put on a show as you discarded your bra, and twisted your pebbled nipples, the both of you groaning in tandem at the gesture.
Then went your shorts, and she audibly choked when she saw how wet you already were for her. It was over for her though when she felt you slip your drenched panties into her clenched hand, and on instinct she brought them to her face, and sniffed, “Trakhni menya.”
(Fuck me)
“Oh, I plan to,” you winked and she spluttered from beneath you in clear need of information, “I’m your PR assistant Nat, I know my stuff.”
Natasha moaned languidly when she felt your slick drip into the grooves of her abdomen, she was desperate to grab you, to guide you, but she was too afraid to hurt you, so she didn’t. This very fact was clear to you when you saw her brows painfully furrowed, with her hands clenched at her side as you continued to grind.
With a softness you kissed her brow until it settled beneath your lips, your hands unfurled her own, and you guided them to your waist. Natasha’s eyes shot open fearfully, but you stopped her protests with a sloppy, heated kiss, you wanted to encourage her to follow her instincts, but all she did was try to let you go.
“Nat, please,” you whimpered, placing her hands back on your hips again, and she sighed, “I don’t want to hurt you Y/N… Please…”
“Oh Natty,” you softly chuckled, slowing your grinding down as you focused on her worried pout, “You could never hurt me, you’re my Natty bear, the one who cuddles me close on movie nights, who goes to the store at 1am to get me ice cream just because I’m cramping, and the one who defends my honor in ways that drive me absolutely up the wall. I need you, so please, just touch me, and don’t stop.”
Natasha smiled genuinely, and as you picked the pace back up she decided to aide you once you got sloppy with your movements. With a soft grip she guided your cunt against her abs, she flexed them every time she pulled you down, and you rewarded her with a loud moan, and a gush of your essence on her flushed skin.
You fell into her, crashing your lips to hers for a kiss that left you both panting in seconds. Natasha gently flipped your positions, she ran a calloused thumb over the side of your face, and watched you slowly returning to yourself.
“Hi,” you meekly greeted and she chuckled breathlessly, “Hey there pretty girl,” she kissed you tenderly, and you became absolute mush.
Natasha wasn’t done with you now that she’d had a little taste, her lips moved from yours to nip at your skin wherever she could, and she smirked when you clutched at her biceps in a silent plea of clear desperation for her touch.
“I’m going to take care of you sweetheart,” she trailed her fingers down your body, every part of you she grazed over tensed as she was in clear route to your dripping sex, and once she made it there you were writhing with need.
“Calm down baby,” her hands squeezed the flesh of your thighs, the force of her grip alone had you mewling as the sinful thought of her thick fingers venturing further, and delving deep inside you flooded your hazy mind.
“Is it okay baby?” she spread your thighs, and nodded towards your cunt, “Wanna feel you.”
“Please,” you fisted the sheets as you pleaded, your hips rose up instinctively, and she gently pushed them back into the mattress with a soft kiss being placed above your pelvic bone before her fingers finally pushed inside of you.
“I can’t believe this is real,” she grunted in amazement, the feel of you wrapped around her was something she’d only ever dreamed of, and to feel your warmth in real time was wildly intoxicating, and she knew without doubt it’d would be impossible to let you go after tonight.
“Natty please, more,” you reached down and dug your nails into her muscular shoulders, Natasha hissed softly as you managed to make her bleed, but she would never complain, in fact she only aimed to please so she gave you a third finger that ended up being your vice.
“Is that what you needed?” she smirked up at you, your mouth was wide open, spewing the most obscene moans she’d ever heard as she thrusted her fingers into you just right, “You look so pretty for me baby,” she circled your clit with her rough thumb and you screamed.
You really did look like a vision with your body shaking uncontrollably on the bed, her fingers damn near trapped inside of you as your walls squeezed her impossibly tight, you were in the depths of euphoria, and you looked like you belonged nowhere else but in her bed for her to take at any given moment, “Such a good girl, you drenched my hand baby, thank you.”
Natasha lifted her fingers up to her lips, her eyes that were voided with speckles of green swimming around had fluttered shut as soon as your essence caressed her tastebuds, she was so incredibly aroused by your existence, and your unique taste only made her even more so. It’s had a similar affect on you too, the sight of her alone always had you warm, but hearing her appreciative moans left you a bit of a mess.
Then when she looked at you with that smirk of hers, the one that tells you she knows she’s hot stuff it made you desperate for a repeat attack. But then you got a grip of yourself, and the one more prominent thought was wanting to please her, which is was what you had set out to do.
“Natasha, I was meant to be thanking you,” you whined when she laid down beside you, she only chuckled as she pulled your body on top or hers with ease, “Tasting you was all the reward I needed malysh, it’s all good baby.”
You felt her thighs clench, as if her body was trying to call her out for lying, and you decided to do the same, “I can feel you Nat,” you said it so softly, because embarrassing her wasn’t the goal, “Your wetness is all over my stomach.”
“Y/N,” she tried to settle your curiosity, but your blown out eyes and finger over her lip told her the downplaying over her need was futile.
“Then how about you let me have a turn?” you asked, and she nodded dumbly, because truth be told she was powerless to your advances, “It’s only fair I get a taste,” you reasoned, the way you looked down at her spurred on an uncharacteristic whimper from deep within.
“I know you’re going to taste divine my love,” you purred as you pecked her lips, Nat felt her heart speed up at your slip of tongue, she could get used to being yours, she already had.
Natasha squirmed as you pried her legs open, she honestly felt so exposed, it was unfamiliar territory, but at the same time she trusted you with her life, even if she could toss you around, she knew from an emotional end you had her.
“So pretty for me baby,” you admired her body, the new angle was picturesque really, her arms were perfectly defined, certain muscles flexed as she clenched her fists, her abs prominently flexed too as she waited for you to tend to her.
This woman could easily destroy you, and you’d let her, but here you have her laid out for you in a way you knew she didn’t just let anyone see. You cherished the idea that you were that special to her, and you vowed right there to never break that trust she had in you.
“Are you ready baby?” you licked over the salty skin of her thigh teasingly as you awaited her response, and when she breathlessly pleaded for you to do something you dove into her cunt.
Natasha couldn’t breath for the first thirty seconds as you lapped away at her, never in her life had she been this desperate or sensitive, but you’d also never been naked in her bed before today so it all seemed to be adding up.
Soon it was you who was unable to breathe. So lost in the pleasure she clamped her thighs shut around you, her quads held your head in an unforgiving grip. You were without oxygen but you honestly couldn’t be bothered to care when all you wanted was to please her, to feel her walls flutter around your tongue, to have her heady scent permanently on your upper lip.
Natasha came about a minute later, your name torn from her throat like a prayer she’d needed answered, and in a shocking manner her taut legs trembled, and therefore relinquished their hold on you. As you gasped for air Natasha began to realize what had likely happened, but before she could panic you were smiling at her, your face absolutely drenched in her essence.
In this exact moment, under the bright light of the moon you’d never looked more beautiful.
Natasha pulled you up from between her legs, and into a strong, but unsurprisingly gentle embrace as you worked to breathe steadily. Once she heard your breathing temper she lifted your head and pulled you into a kiss.
“I love you Y/N,” she whispered her confession against your lips, and when you pulled back she looked at you with soft eyes that swam with a vulnerability reminiscent of fear, and so you cupped her cheek, your eyes glistened with joy and you kissed her again, “I love you too.”
Natasha’s embrace tightened, you buried your face into her neck, and sighed, “Goodnight,” as she lifted the duvet over your bodies.
“Just to be clear, you didn’t give that girl your number right?” she meekly broke the silence.
You cackled tiredly against her, “Never even considered it Nat, I was too hung up on you.”
Natasha kissed your cheek, you could feel her smirking as she did, and you rolled your eyes.
“Go to sleep, let your ego get some rest,” you teased, and she chuckled, “Goodnight Y/N.”

Hello👀
I'll leave a request and let you write if you like the idea
What about Wanda and R dating in high-school
But r is more the nerdy/athlete while wanda is the smart and popular girl and she's not ready to tell people about their couple and she thinks it would make her lose her friends because they don't really like y/n's group (like peter parler and all..)
So y/n get impatient cause she feels like wanda is ashamed of her.. You can choose what happened after this, it's up to you :3
Tell me what you think of the idea hahaha
A/n : this is my first Wanda fic so if there are any mistakes or i got something wrong feel free to remind me but hate is not accepted, this idea is so cute omggg, so i portrayed Wanda as Street smart and not much academic smart while a bit vice versa for the reader, i wanted a fluff ending so i did just that ❤️
Perfect ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing : Wanda maximoff x fem!reader
Summary : request
ROSE 🌹
Warning : insecurity, little bit of angst if you squint, fluffy fluff and more fluff in the end 🤭
Note : i loved writing this so much 😭 i felt like i was in the moment, anyways what's important, i haven't set up the rules for requesting yet for this blog so to let y'all know i WON'T be taking character x male reader as i don't want to upset the dynamic and I'm a female so yeah, enjoy 😁
Word count : 1.4k kinda proof read
"word" - dialogue
Glossary : y/n - your name, y/n/n - your nickname
dragul meu - my love (in romanian), i searched and saw an article saying Wanda and pietro might have grown up speaking Serbian or romanian.
Tumblr media
Your life was perfect, you had the most perfect friends, the most perfect best friend, the most perfect parents and most of all, the most perfect girlfriend.
Wanda maximoff, the school's popular girl first showed interest in me when our group was selected to present our school in the world science expedition, it was when we won the competition did everyone start noticing our group, when Wanda started noticing me, she made sure her approaches towards me were subtle enough to not to be noticed by others but clear enough for me, small notes in my locker, which i don't know how the hell she got the code too, but okay i guess? Mini gifts left on my desk with her initials on it, walking with me to our classes rather than her usual friends, talking to me in free periods, little things that made my heart flutter, and Peter never leaves one opportunity to tease me about it, i mean she's the most beautiful girl in the entire school, not only me but i think the whole school has a crush on her, but to be liked back by her is pretty much a big thing.
Wanda is friendly with practically everyone, she know everyone, even remember their names which i have no explanation on how Because i can barely remember someone's name they told me minutes ago, she was adored by everyone too, so basically a social butterfly but right now the main thing is, she likes me back and that's when i gathered any courage i had and asked her the question when we were in the cafeteria hallway walking towards our class "Wanda, do you like me?" She stumbled in her walk and i had to catch her to stop her from falling, her eyes wide as she stared at me, mouth opening and closing to form words but nothing came out, then she asked skeptically "do you?" Blood rushed to my cheeks, as I stared at the suddenly immensely interesting ground. After saying nothing for a few seconds i just nodded, ready to take off i turned but the next events changed my mind completely.
She pushed me against a door, that i don't know where it lead to, the only thing i can focus on is her lips on mine, her hands sneaking on my waist pulling me closer, i leaned back, giving her all the access she needed, my hands going up to her neck and in her hair, tangling my fingers with her long luscious red locks, she stopped looking down at me smirking and at this point i think i look like a tomato, "tomorrow at 7, I'll pick you up" and with a peck on my lips, she walked of like nothing happen while i stood there processing what the hell just happened.
»»————- ♡ ————-««
It's been a few weeks after that kiss, but it only got frequent, her taking me out, giving me gifts but she wanted to keep it a secret, ofcourse Peter knows everything, even if i don't tell him, he'll just know, when i told him about the kiss his squeal was more surprising then Wanda kissing me. The 'keeping it secret' thing didn't bother me but I wanted to show her off, to let everyone know she's mine and I'm hers, more probably because of those pesky boys who kept trying to woo her but she just turned them all down, which I couldn't be more happy about.
I returned her efforts with my own, always doting on her , bringing her flowers, especially a rose because it reminded me of her, only a single rose for every time we met. Aside from that, nobody in her friend circle ,or in mine except peter. knows about us, i have visited her house many times before, why? I was her tutor, but now "tutoring" was the last thing i did when we were in her room, though i still made her study even if she didn't want too because I didn't want her failing classes and she was already struggling with most of it, i sat beside her, observing her completing her calculus homework, she groaned throwing her head back, crying ont dramatically she leaned her head against my neck, i rolled my eyes at her antics, trying to push her off but i was unsuccessful as she threw away her notebook and supplies and attacked my lips and neck with kisses making me forget why i was here as well, after that calculus was the last thing on our mind.
»»————- ♡ ————-««
By far we've been dating for almost 6 months, mid terms were on head, mostly me, Peter, mj and ned spent our time in the Library discussing what update we have over the syllabus, while Wanda was out with her friends, doing whatever she does at this time, lately though she seemed distant, whenever i would approach after school or in the break, she acts she doesn't know me at all, but the moment Everyone is out she's as gushy as before, that baffled me i mean i knew she wanted to keep our relationship secret but now after so many encounters i couldn't help but think she was ashamed of me in some ways…i wouldn't blame her though, I'm just a girl who no one knows about other than the girl who's friends with Peter while Wanda is…. Wanda! There's no comparison between after all, this was eating me inside out, nagging me at the back of my mind 24/7.
I laid curled up in wanda's arms, she stroked my back lazily, any other day i would be blushing like crazy but now my mind was elsewhere, i was so deep in my thoughts that i didn't even notice her stop and pull back, only coming out of my trance when she spoke " y/n/n, are you alright, sweetheart?" I blinked several times looking at her, then blurred out without thinking " Wanda, are you ashamed of me?" Now it was her turn to stare wide eyed at me. " Love, what are you saying? Why would I be ashamed of you?" I just shook my head looking at the mattress, picking at the bedsheet as tears pricked my eyes, "y/n, talk to me, is this because i said i wanted to keep us private?" Her voice was soft, I looked up at her and said "No, no…you know? You seem so distant when i come up to you when you're with your friends, like you don't even know me, i know you want to keep it private and i do respect that, i really do but sometimes i couldn't help but feel like you're ashamed of me" i hung my head down, not being able to keep eye contact, too embarrassed to even look up.
She didn't say anything, hooking a finger under my chin, she tilted my face up to meet hers, a tear rolled down my cheek, tilting her face to the side she kissed me softly and pulled me in her arms, pulling back from the kiss she nuzzled her face next to mind and said "you will never shame me, dragul meu, and i did not mean to hurt you, you know how my friends get towards your group, i want to keep it down because i don't want to lose them or you" i sighed burying my head in her neck i said "I'm sorry, i was being stupid, i should have known you would never do that" she shook her head, pulling me even closer if possible "no, darling, you have every right to feel that and I'm glad you decided tell me, believe me i love you too much to even think of that" she chuckled and i smiled in her embrace, all those wrecked thoughts evaporating in seconds, my heart bouncing and once again my face was red.
»»————- ♡ ————-««
That evening she made sure you knew how much she loved you, even deciding that she would not be as subtle as she is now, still keeping it to themselves but she decided there was no harm in showing her lovely girlfriend off either, cuddling together her arms wrapped around yours, legs tangled together with your head on her chest, you smiled with you eyes closed, this was the best feeling you could ever imagine and didn't mind if this would become your forever.
The next day she didn't hesitate to kiss you on your cheek, still a bit hesitant but a big step from before and Wanda couldn't deny, she liked this too, her friends were taken aback but she didn't care, if you were happy she was happy too and that's all that mattered to her.

one wrong move and it all falls down…
Tumblr media
(warnings. drug mention i think. elvis in a coma.)
PART 1 / PART 2
"So what do we do now?"
Kristan couldn't eat, nor sleep for that matter. The doctor sat his clipboard down and looked at her sadly. "Mrs. Presley, at this point we are just waiting to see if he wakes up or we have to-" he pauses "we have to make the hardest decision of our lives." He looks down at the sad wife for a second before finishing, "We have to pray for you husband right now and hope for the best." The doctor closes his notebook and looks at the coma induced male and sighs. Kristan decided to try one more time before she even thought about quitting on her husband.
"Elvis, please wake up my love. I want our new child to be able to meet their father." she whispered. After 10 minutes had passed, Elvis' heart monitor began to beep. In a sudden a bunch of doctors run in, standing up shocked Kristan turned to the doctor. "W-W-WHAT'S GOING ON!?! WHAT'S HAPPENING TO HIM!" She exclaimed "H-He's waking up!" He stood shocked.
Kirstan felt as if a weight was being lifted off her shoulders. "R-Really?!?" The doctor just nodded while walking over to check on Elvis' vitals. "Yes Mrs. Presley, he is. His vitals have drastically improved, and his eyes are starting to open."
Elvis started to wake up, with his eyes fluttering open. He coughs and looks over to find "Kristan... is that you darlin'?" Kristan let out a huge sigh of relief. "Yes! Honey, It's me!" Elvis lets out a smile and holds his arms out for her. "Darling I'm so happy to see you right now, you have no idea." He looks up at the doctor and speaks softly. "Doctor? Could you give us a moment. Alone, please?" The doctor nods and walks out taking the others with him.
As Elvis watches the doctors leave, he looks at Kristan. "Kristan. I am so happy to see that smile again." He holds his hand out for her to hold. "Take a hold of my hand baby and hold it as tight as you can, alright?" Kristan looked him with anger in her eyes. "Elvis! What the hell is wrong with you! Why would you take so many pills! You told me you were done with them!" she chastised.
He smiled and looked down at his hand, which Kris was holding. "I know, I'm sorry baby, I just got lost in it all, the music, the show, the fans." He grabs her chin and gently turns her face to his. "But when I saw you and the girls it gave me inspiration to keep going." he smiles. "I'll never touch those pills again." she smiled at him "E?"
"Hm?" he hummed looking into her eyes. He always loved her eyes; he loved the brown color it reminded him of a teddy bear or coffee. "I'm pregnant." His jaw drops and his eyes go wide. "Wh-what did you just say?" he takes a moment to process the information. "You're, You're pregnant?! Baby, how long?" he smiles excitedly. "Four months....you've been in a coma for four months." Kris speaks sadly looking down.
He sits back down slowly taking in all this information. "Baby how did I just sleep for four months and not know you were pregnant?!" Kris could tell that he was joking but trying to be strong about the whole thing. "Well, I'm glad to hear that your pregnant, that means I get to be a father again." he kisses your head. "When will you be due?"
"In December."
𝐓𝐖𝐎 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑..
Two years has passed as the Presley family welcomes their new member Felix Arnold Presley. Elvis went back to doing music and shows. Kristan went back to work and the couple ended up moving back into Graceland together again. At the moment, Kristan had caught wind of this murder case 3 months ago and was trying to find out who the killer was and what was the MO.
Elvis was laying on the couch, singing to his songs quietly to himself as he is listening to the radio. Felix is sitting by him playing with his toys and smiling at his father. Elvis hears a knock at the door and pauses looking at Felix. "Hmm, Who could that be?" he smiles at the cooing baby. "Stay in here with your toys honey and I'll go see who's at the door." he smiles and go answer the door. Upon opening the door he finds Kristan's temporary partner, Aaron Hotchner.
Elvis' face lights up. "Agent Hotchner! What brings you to our house?" he smiles and open the door wider "Please come in." Aaron gives a small nod and walks in. "Elvis. I'm looking for Kristan, is she here?" Elvis' smile fades a bit "Ah, Kris. Yes she's in her office right now. She's going over a case involving murder." He nods at Aaron. "Why were you looking for my wife?"
"It's on the case. There has been some new information and she's the lead detective on the case." Elvis thinks for a second. "Oh I see. Well please go right ahead into her office." he steps aside and gestures for Aaron to pass.
Hearing a knock on the door, Kris looked up thinking it was one of her kids, only to be met with Aaron. Giving him a smile she took off her reading glasses. "Hey, Aaron. Come in." he nods and walks in taking a seat across from her desk. Elvis walked back downstairs to Felix in the living room.
"Aaron, what can I do for you?" Kristan ask leaning on my desk with my arms crossed. Hotchner seems stressed out and he speaks in a soft tone. "Thanks for meeting me today, Kristan." Kristan nodded waiting for him to continue. He takes a deep breath. "We found some new evidence on the case you are working on. The suspect we think we may have the identity of." he pauses "Do you want me to give you the details or the report or should I just speak it now?" Kristan raised her eyebrow keeping a straight face. What is he not telling me?! I've never seen a grown man so...jumpy...never mind, Elvis is jumpy. "Now." I respond.
"In a neighboring city, we had someone turn up dead with a very similar MO. to the case you're working on. We suspect that the two might be linked. What we found was shocking." he pauses again. "The name of the possible suspect is actually Elvis Presley." his tone stays soft but Kris notices his expression is a little more serious. The room is totally silent for 5 minutes then Kristan breaks out laughing. This surprised Aaron, this wasn't like Kristan at all.
After about 5 minutes of Kristan laughing she stops looking at Aaron's serious expression. "Oh, you're serious?" she questioned. "Where are your case files?" she spoke again walking back to her seat looking in her drawer. "Well we have them at the office downtown. We can head there if you like." He pauses and looks at Kristan "Are you alright though K?" His expression looked concerned and he walks over and puts a hand on her shoulder. Kristan nods keeping a straight face. "I'm fine. We're going downtown." She spoke getting up collecting her things. "Aaron?" she called. "Yes, Agent Presley?" he looked up. "If I find out you’re lying, I'll have your job. Do you understand?" he nods.
"I'm just the messenger and I hope it's wrong but there is information that is right." he pauses "Just don't get your hopes up. Maybe it will all lead up to a dead end but we should hope for the best and prepare for the worst." Kris nods as they begin walking downstairs. Elvis sees the pair and looks up at them. "Are you guys going for the night or something?" he smiles. "Or maybe to go for a walk? I can watch the twins if you'd like to go out, I want you to relax sweetheart. Yoi work so hard and I have missed you. I know it hasn't been two months but it feels like I am missing my other half right now." Kris smiles and kiss him on the cheek. No way this loveable fellow is a killer! she thought.
"Oh, no we're going downtown to look over some case files."

Fairy Lights || Attendy
Summary: This honestly took place in like September but it’s alright its cool its going well and we post things at a normal time. First dates with Attendy.
@flippin--corduroy
WENDY
It was a pretty nice summer night out. Breeze came in off the lake and everything seemed like a normal Friday night in Swynlake. People were out on dates and looking all coupled up and well, Wendy Corduroy found herself in the same boat as all of those people.
Wendy had a date with a fairy. Like a really cute fairy. A cute fairy who liked woodworking and trees and nature and was just as excited as she was about it all. To be honest, Wendy played it off like dates were totally normal and cool by her. She went on plenty, and even more hookups usually happened at places like Pixie’s. But deep down she was very much not ice cold, she was pretty nervous. And on top of that she’d never went on a date with someone like Atta before (at least not that she knew of and definitely not personality wise either) and Wendy had set herself up to introduce her to a lot of ‘clumsy’ firsts.
But you wouldn’t really be able to tell all of that if you looked at her. Wendy stood there outside Chippamunka, looking a bit more dressed up than usual. Her jeans didn’t have quite as many rips in them and her button down plaid shirt had zero wrinkles in it. She wore boots that were definitely not meant for the workshop. And you know, she even put like a little bit of mascara and eyeliner on just because you know, you gotta highlight the assets and everything. She tucked her hands in her pockets and looked around for the familiar smiley fairy sight that was Atta.
As she spotted the girl, her grin widened and she just gave a wave, before the fairy got close enough for her to give her a bit of a friendly hug, “Hey! Wow, you look like super pretty.” She motioned behind herself to the restaurant, “I reserved us a table inside so you get the whole restaurant experience.”
ATTA:
Atta meant what she said: she did not know the first thing about going on a date.
It wasn’t just a pixie thing, unfortunately. What she had purposefully not mentioned was the reason for her undating-- a once great and rare destiny to become the queen of a Hollow, which unfortunately left little time or space for the pleasures and anxieties of romance. It wasn’t exactly forbidden...not in any of the history books. Many queens and kings did enter into promises in the last stretch of their lives after they gave up their duties. But Atta’s days used to be schedules from one flit to the next, and that schedule took her far away from the world of the other fairies her own age. It never bothered her much, to be honest. She grew up with a certain set of expectations. And whatever free time she did have, Atta much preferred to use having adventures with Dot or bothering Flik down in the tinker tunnels.
But Swynlake was a brand new life and a brand new Atta and that Atta had no grand destiny, so maybe she said yes to a date with Wendy just because she could. It was not the only reason, but it was a very, very big reason. She collapsed back against her cot with her phone pressed over her heart and looked up at the ceiling in wonder. “I’m going on a date,” she said out loud, to hear it and imagine it taking shape in front of her, something solid she could hold in her hands. She read over her texts again and repeated herself, a smile growing on her lips. “I’m going on a date.”
No idea what it meant. No idea what it was like! But here she was anyway, after fussing with her various pixie and clumsy clothes and coming up with a kind of hybrid: her one pair of clumsy jeans, her favourite tinker ankle boots with the pretty bells, and a soft green halter appropriate for these warm summer months. She braided a loose crown around her head and didn’t dare look at her reflection or else she knew she’d fuss with all the pieces and get too self-conscious and just cancel this whole thing. She headed straight for the location instead, trying to outrun her second-guessing (Atta was prone to second-guessing).
When she saw Wendy, her cheeks ripened like strawberries. “Really? Oh, frost, that’s-- very responsible of you. You ehm, you look nice too. I like your shirt, it’s very--stripey.”
Stripey. Atta touched one of her eartips self-consciously. “I mean! We don’t have patterns like that in the Hollow.”
WENDY
The redhead just grinned a bit at being called responsible. She did count herself as fairly responsible. She had her own apartment (with Dipper) and school and work and she had time to plan dates with pretty fairies too. Plus, she guessed having three younger crazy brothers and dealing with a Dad who was a little out of touch with reality kind of made her a bit responsible earlier on.
“You guys don’t have plaid? Wow, that’s like a clumsy staple. We should look into getting you some stripey plaid, it comes in all kinds of colors. And I’m positive it would look great on you.” She opened the door to the restaurant and held it open for Atta, “Right this way to your first restaurant experience.”
They walked through Chippamunka, the smell of spinach in the air as Wendy led them over to their small table by the window in a diner booth. “So, here’s the deal, you can either go with what you think looks dope on the menu.” She held the piece of plastic coated paper up, “Or, you can ask our waiter what their favorite dishes are and that just kind of makes the whole thing easier if you’ve never been to a place before.”
She felt like a tour guide, honestly this whole restaurant thing was kind of weird sounding when you said it all outloud to another person. “Also do you like, eat meat or are fairies like vegetarians? Because they have plenty of options for whatever.”
ATTA:
Now this part, Atta could do.
That was nothing to brag about. The basics of going to a restaurant simply mirrored going to many of the different food stands and restaurants in the Hollow. There was of course the main kitchens, which many of the kitchen-talents worked in. They prepared food and laid it out buffet-style for fairies to take as much as they pleased (but of course, not too much). But there were a few other little restaurants, usually with different hours than the main meal times. Some were quite casual, meant for a flutter-by and to take the food back home to eat in privacy. But others, a fairy could sit down and enjoy being waited on by the serving-talents.
She didn’t know how to say all this to Wendy, because she didn’t want to come across as rude or make Wendy feel embarrassed. She was right, anyway, to assume that clumsy restaurants were quite different from fairy ones. They probably were--in all kinds of little ways that Atta hadn’t noticed yet.
“Most fairies are vegetarian, though winter fairies usually eat fish. It’s an important part of our diet,” explained Atta first. She reached forward to fiddle with the silverware, unrolling it from the napkin. “It’s different from culture to culture too, I’ve learned. There’s a fairy in my Hollow whose originally from Korea, and they eat more meat and fish as well. I personally don’t eat much though.”
She looked down at the menu. “My, this is...a lot of options.” She blinked. “How do they prepare all of this?”
WENDY
Wendy nodded and stored that information in her little fairy file she was compiling in her brain. She was learning a whole lot just from talking to Atta and texting her every now and then about the case. (Well, and the odd like meme and reference). “So like, was ice fishing big where you’re from then? Because I mean, you guys basically lived in snow like all the time, right?”
She ran a hand through her hair and leaned back a bit with a smile at Atta’s question, “Lots of storage space and practice, I’d guess. Have everything like at the ready to go. And Kronk is like one of the best chef’s in town. Super dedicated. I’ve talked to him a couple times he’s a real nice dude.”
She smiled at the waiter who brought them their water glasses. He looked like some college freshman in his first job. “Hey there.” He briefly gave them a spiel about the catch of the day and their specials before asking them if they wanted anything else to drink aside from the water.
“Nah, water is good for me.” She smiled over at the waiter and then Atta, “ I think we’re definitely gonna get the spinach puffs to start though. No idea on anything else, Kronk’s always got so much working at the same time so I think we’re gonna need a minute or two. Like honestly, Chippamunka probably has the biggest menu in Swynlake.”
ATTA:
Atta liked listening to Wendy talk.
She had never been especially chatty herself. She left that to the chipmunks and to her constituents, for a royal-talent should above all else listen first. She learned to save her words and polish them...though she waited too long and polished too cleanly, which led to this terrible habit of being caught off-guard when asked an opinion out of nowhere. Then she’d stutter and uhm and ah and er. Wendy didn’t stutter. She also didn’t talk prettily, but that was part of the reason Atta liked listening to her so much. She said things in a funny way-- and secretly Atta’s heart fluttered in interest at these words, such as her fondness for “like” and also “dope” and now “dude.”
She nodded along then as Wendy conversed with their ‘dope’ dude waiter. “Water for me as well, thank you,” she added before looking back at the menu as the waiter moved away.
And then her curiosity got the best of her.
Atta leaned forward. “May I ask a question? A little while ago you said, um-- dope? What’s that mean?” she asked eagerly.
She could add it to her collection of new words.
WENDY
The redhead just watched as the waiter went off and took their drink orders before smiling back at Atta. God, she was just so pretty wasn’t she? Just like the perfect cute face and her hair was golden like a bunch of sunflower petals.
Wendy nodded as she asked the question and then just kind of chuckled, one because she didn’t even think about things when she said them and two, because Atta looked like a eager beaver waiting to gnaw through a log and make its home.
“Oh dope? Well…” She scrunched her brows up a bit, trying to not use another slang word to describe it. Like she couldn’t say dope meant like cool or sweet because those meant other things too. She then remembered something from their texts and perked up, “Oh! You know how like, I think one time you said flitterific? Or something like that? It’s like that. It means great but like a little more than that you know?”
She scratched her head a bit, “Wow, I’m trying to think about all the times I said slang words at you and didn’t even realize it. My bad. But hey, just like think of me as your personal clumsy slang translator. Like a clumsy-ary? A dictionclumsy?” She let out a laugh, bit bashful at her terrible attempts. “Well, you know what I mean.”
ATTA:
Great, but a little more than that.
Atta’s mouth opened as the understanding washed right over her. Great, but a little more than that-- like you, Atta thought, but didn’t say. Those two words jumped to the tip of her tongue but before they could fall out, ungraceful and silly and very un-royal-like of her, Wendy was laughing and talking again in her usual Wendy-way. Atta’s lips pressed back together. She’d keep it to herself, though later on, maybe she’d write ‘dope’ in her journal and ‘Wendy’ right beside. How easy that word would be to remember, with such a lovely example right in front of her.
Atta nodded. “I do, though you shouldn’t feel badly because obviously I said fairy slang right back at you and didn’t realize it. So that makes me your--dictionfairy.” Atta punned with a little shoulder shimmy. “I think it’s fun anyway, learning new words. Or new things in general. It was all overwhelming at first, but now I look forward to what I’ll learn in a day. It’s--dope,” Atta tried out the word. “Did I use that right?”
WENDY
Just looked at Atta with the biggest grin on her face, honestly, this was definitely one of the better dates she’d been on and this was just getting started. I mean, they’d barely ordered an appetizer.
Speaking of--
As Wendy laughed in reply to the dictionfiary comment because that was a good one, really. A+ on the pun scale and the + was really for the shoulder shimmy which made the lighting of the restaurant catch the contours of Atta’s face and lips and made her hair and eyes shine just that much more, their waiter came back with their spinach puffs and Wendy’s stomach already felt like it was going to engulf itself with how good they smelled, she leaned over around the arms setting the plate down to reply, “Yeah, for sure. Excellent usage.”
The waiter then interrupted and asked what they’d like to get for their main course, Wendy had to take her focus off of Atta and look up at the guy, “Oh, sure, I’ll get the bacon grilled cheese. I know it’s like the main thing everyone gets but who doesn’t like bacon, cheese and bread.” She then added as an aside, looking to Atta a bit sheepishly, “I mean, unless you’re like vegetarian which is totally cool.”
ATTA:
Yes, Atta was a vegetarian-- well, a pescaterian. Fish was a massive part of winter fairies’ diet as it was good protein that kept them warm. Still, she’d never had bacon before. Part of her was tempted to try it if only because Atta quite liked trying new things. But then she thought way too much about it and her stomach curled at the thought, and she better not after all.
“I am, but I’ll take this comment as one of cultural importance to clumsies,” said Atta, really only half-teasing. “Cheese, bread, and bacon, an important part of your diet. I think my equivalent would...well, mostly be bread. I love bread.”
The clumsy waiter cleared his throat.
“Oh! I forgot you were there,” said Atta, then blushed because she said that out loud. “I mean, um-- I’ll just-- do the stuffed pepper, thank you.”
The waiter gathered their menus and left. Instantly, Atta scrunched her face as she watched him go. “Oh. I was enjoying reading that.”
WENDY
Wendy chuckled, “I mean you’re not wrong. You’d definitely find like plenty of other people who would agree with me. Of course, unless they’re like lactose intolerant or gluten intolerant or like a vegan/vegetarian.” She leaned forward and whispered as an aside with a teasing grin, “I couldn’t imagine being any of those.”
“I mean, you cannot go wrong with bread. What’s your favorite? Do fairies have like magically baked bread? Is there like a traditional fairyloaf? Is it like nutbread?” She squinted a bit, wondering about it herself before continuing, “Also, fun thing about phones is that you can totally look at menus online and stuff so you can enjoy reading all the different restaurants in Swynlake and take your pick and not be like rushed when you get here to read the whole menu.”
It didn’t take too long for their waiter to return with the spinach puffs and she just sat up a bit and smiled a warm and charming smile before she said, “Could we like keep a menu at the table? Just in case we feel like ordering like dessert or another appetizer or something.” She was handed back a menu before the waiter walked off to check on another table, “Thanks much, dude.”
She turned back to Atta, looking at her over the steam of the spinach puffs, “Your reading material, m’lady, should you want it and get totally bored of my company.” She was teasing and just slid the menu along the side of the table to her before motioning for her to grab a spinach puff, “After you. First pick always goes to the cutest one at the table.”
ATTA:
Atta laughed as Wendy peppered her with bread-related questions, her eyes crinkling up. She liked that about Wendy-- she was quite forward, the opposite of Atta, and she never seemed to be bothered or embarrassed by anything. At this, that’s how she came across. Maybe she was spinning herself in circles on the inside, the way that Atta was doing--
Well, she wasn’t, actually. Not right now. Right now she was relaxed, her eyes bright, happy to be in this very strange place with all the new things to poke at and question. It didn’t make her nervous, not here. If she made a fool of herself (and she was certain she was), Wendy would only laugh with her.
She reached for the spinach puff. “We don’t magically bake our bread by the way. It’s done very similarly to the way that clumsies do it-- with kneading and proofing and all that. I think the difference is very subtle. Kitchen-talents never use clocks for anything, you know, they simply know exactly when the bread is ready to go into the oven, and then when it’s ready to come out again. That’s the best part of a talent. The way it comes so naturally, like-- like taking a breath or fluttering your wings--”
She took a bite out of the spinach puff and her eyes widened. “Mmm, this is great!”
She instantly grabbed two more and put them on her small plate.
WENDY
Wendy did internally feel a bit nervous whenever she made forward advances. But there was a thrill in it. An adventure in not knowing how it would land (and a bit anxiety as well, if she was honest, she wasn’t immune to anxious feelings despite her cool exterior) or what the person might do or say next.
The redhead’s attention was on all of the information Atta was saying, but also very focused on the way her eyes smiled as she spoke about baking talents and the way she held up a spinach puff to her lips before taking a bite.
Wendy could only laugh and grin happily at Atta’s reaction before joining in the meal herself.
And so that’s how the evening went. The two of them at Chippamunka’s enjoying food and each other’s company while picking each other’s brains on their different cultures.
Wendy paid their bill and they walked out of the restaurant into the brisk air of the night, heading over towards Oaken’s so Wendy could show off her case. “I’m glad we got to do this.” She grinned over at the smaller girl, hands tucking into her pockets. “Happy that you yelled at me the first time we met.”
ATTA:
Atta had never known how a date would go. She had plenty of data, of course. She listened to other fairies talk about their courtships and supported them with smiles and with questions. She liked hearing about such things because she liked to imagine how things would be like, though she knew that it wasn’t meant for her-- and that was alright. She never felt compelled into romance. She never fell for anyone. She was loved by the people who mattered most, her sister, her parents, Flik, her King--
But in this new life, the question of love existed behind a door, just cracked open. Maybe she wanted it only because of that curiosity. Maybe that was half of the reason she said yes.
But now she was here on this date and-- she was glad that she’d said yes. She felt like a different person next to Wendy Corduroy. And she liked that person. She thought that person could be happy.
And so her heart was beating rather quickly as they faced each other, Atta wondering what came next (but knowing...knowing because she’d heard the stories, but didn’t know, didn’t know if her story would go the same way…)
“I didn’t mean to yell at you!” Atta exclaimed now and laughed a bit shyly, red in the face again. “I don’t think it was a -- a yell persay anyway. You’ll know when I yell, trust me.” She was rambling a bit, because of those nerves. “I get a bit puffed up like a hedgehog. My hair gets crazy too. I was simply-- I was reprimanding. I’m very good at that. Being a big sister and all…”
WENDY
The redhead had like an inkling of this date probably going well. It wasn’t that Wendy didn’t have a good time on dates, because usually she could make a good time out of anything, it was just the question of whether or not that good time would be as like friends or as like seal this date with a kiss kind of good time.
And boy did Wendy want to kiss Atta. Really, half of what her brain had been focusing on was what Atta spoke and then the other half was about how Atta spoke. The ways she talked and her accent inflected with the curve of a lip or tongue. It was a good thing she had food to keep her busy in her moments or she’d just gawk at the fairy.
Wendy just grinned at her, “I hope I’ll never have to find out.” She gave a bit of a wink as she jingled the key to Oaken’s she’d borrowed in her pocket as they got to the storefront. “At least not in that it would be directed at me. You might be a really cute hedgehog when your fury is directed towards someone else.”
They made it up to Oaken’s (it was a pretty short walk from the restaurant) and she quickly unlocked the door and let them in, flipping one light switch on just so they could get to the back. Afterall, she didn’t want people to start coming up and thinking that they were open while Wendy was showing Atta around.
It was so quiet in the shop. No people. Just the smells of different woods around them, like being in a forest at night. “So, this is Oaken’s at night. Very rare sight for most people, but sometimes if I have a pretty big project I’ll spend a few hours at night trying to put some things in order. Oh, and like, gifts to friends. I’ve spent a couple evenings after hours working on your log case.” She was almost a bit bashful about it, it was like really admitting she had feelings or something enough to spend extra time to get something done off the clock.
ATTA:
Atta knew that dates could end with kisses.
She didn’t think that was where this was going to go. In fact, Atta was lost in the date now-- no more thinking about all the shoulds or what ifs or the stories from her friends. It was like she was back in the forest when she first met Wendy, and a silly little conversation about the rules of cutting (or not cutting) trees had become this whole long-winded back-and-forth of names and personal details. Thinking back on the meeting always made Atta laugh. She’d told Dot about it while giggling and blushing, though Dot hadn’t been as amused. But that was what Wendy did for Atta-- she made her laugh. She made her interested in things. She made her ask questions and see the clumsy world as something beautifully odd, instead of scary or dangerous.
No where was more beautifully odd than Wendy’s workshoppe either. She’d already been here once of course. When Atta stepped in now, she took a deep breath, nostrils tickled with all that fresh sawdust. It was night, of course, and the big space chilled easily, but something about the way wood smelled always made Atta feel warm.
Or maybe it was just the bright lights that Wendy flicked on.
Or maybe it was Wendy grinning at her.
Whatever it was, Atta wandered in, let herself move slow and let her eyes linger on the workshoppe, now transformed in its quiet and solitude. She could take her time after all. She had nowhere to be.
“That sounds a lot like me,” commented Atta quietly and she wandered up to Wendy’s side. She looked up and smiled. “I love working in the Tinker workshoppe at night, too. Though I don’t actually do much tinkering...I write out lists. Usually for what I’ll do the next day.” Atta’s eyes dropped. Her hand skimmed over the surface of the table she was standing in front of. “I know that sounds absurdly boring-- my sister, she always calls me boring. But I dunno, it makes me excited to wake up and get started.”
WENDY
The redhead just stood there and watched Atta take in the workshoppe all over again. Normally, because she was working with tools and saws and all kind of dangerous things, she’d have all the lights on so really it was kind of a reflex that she’d turned them on and not left them like romanctically in the dark or something. The whole thing was kind of a hazard if you were trying to set a mood in here. But that’s what she had her other lights for, she’d get to those.
“Well, you know, I wouldn’t be anything without planning. Measure twice, cut once and all of that ya know?” She reached over for the notebook on the drafting table and pulled it out to show it off to Atta, getting even closer to her to flip through the pages. Schematics and numbers and drawings of wood pieces with the sketch of the case she’d made. There were lists too, of different hardware pieces she needed to order.  “You kinda can’t totally wing a piece of furniture. I mean, that’s why I whittle when I need to chill out, that’s just shaping wood, it’s not building or anything. It’s just carving away any which way your hands want to take you.”
She glanced at Atta from looking at her notebook, eyes connecting with hers. And as much as she wanted to kiss her right now, it was not the correct moment, she still had things to do. “So, I’m gonna ask that you close your eyes for just a little bit. Gift giving is a total surprise after all.”
She meandered her way back towards the storage area where she kept pieces that had been nearly finished and almost ready to put out into the store and tugged the cloth she kept over it to make sure she didn’t scratch or get saw dust all over it. She lifted it up, it wasn’t too heavy, she had kind of designed it that way, but it was still big enough to hold the log so it wasn’t exactly the easiest piece to carry, especially with its doors and drawers.
She set the piece down gently in front of Atta and reached over to shut the lights off again, but this time, she leaned down and plugged in the strings of twinkling lights she’d hung around the workshoppe so she’d still be able to see the case but it’d be more like magical.
She looked at the case and smiled at her handiwork, fairly proud of it. Just as she’d said she would make it. It was one solid medium sized piece with a glass door on it and shelves that could be removed so that a stand of some sort could be placed inside it to hold the log. It was made of oak wood that she’d gotten from the forest here (It had a drawer on the bottom as well, just because she couldn’t forsake all functionality and make it just a display case). Oak meant strength and knowledge, things she felt would be good to surround Atta’s white fir with. To protect it with. There were little patterns of leaves and flowers carved into the top surface of it as well, ones Atta had mentioned to her in their texts.
She tucked her hands into her pockets and just stood a bit away from the case, grinning a bit sheepishly, “Okay, you can look now.”
ATTA:
Oh, yes. Closing her eyes.
She did not know why she immediately got nervous. There was no reason for it here. In this shoppe, Atta felt...not just safe but-- closer to home than she had in many weeks. She loved the tinker workshoppe in the Hollow of course, but she knew that she did not belong there. She couldn’t get lost in any of the tiny projects, for there was always a voice in the back of her mind that told Atta she was going to get found out, that she should never have lied, that she was doing everything, all this tinkering, all wrong, just as she’d done her royalty duties all wrong…
But here, she was just Atta. Wendy knew nothing of talents. She did not look at Atta and see all the things that she wasn’t. Atta hoped that Wendy looked at her and saw…
Well, she didn’t know, actually, what she wanted Wendy to think of her. She just wanted Wendy to think of her at all. And that was why she was nervous.
And so as she closed her eyes, she couldn’t help but listen-- to strain her ears for every shuffle of Wendy’s feet, the creaking of doors, anything. She heard as Wendy went away and as she came back again. And she felt her when she was close...as if Wendy really was a wind, a gentle one, fluttering through Atta’s hair.
“Okay you can look now.”
Atta opened her eyes at once.
She didn’t see the case first. The warm hanging lights caught her attention first. Her mouth opened, and she looked around at them. “They’re fairy lights!” she exclaimed in her surprise-- but of course they weren’t. They did not float on their own, but rather hung in strings. “Oh, or not, I thought....”
And then her eyes dropped to what she actually should be looking at and her breath caught in her throat.
She did not say anything at first. Instead, Atta reached out and her hand hovered around the corners, where there were beautifully carved embellishments. She took another step toward it, but still did not dare to touch it, as if it was made out of something fragile. But she knew that it was oak; of course she knew. And so she knew that it was a strong wood that would protect her fir no matter the weather.
She looked up at Wendy, tiny tears shining in her eyes that reflected the lights. “It’s so beautiful,” she whispered. She didn’t know why she whispered when no one else was here but…
This entire night felt like a secret. She wanted to hold it close and share it with no one.
“Thank you,” she said. “Every time I see it, I’ll think of you.”
WENDY
The redhead chuckled a bit as she commented on the lights, looking up at them and scratching her head a bit, “Well, I guess they’re fairy lights for non-fairies. Kind of the best we’ve got.”
Wendy watched as Atta took in the case, her eyes tracing along what the woodworker had spent hours sanding and carving and staining, nurturing the case from a very heavy slab of oak wood to a piece just enough for the girl next to her.
Atta didn’t really say anything at first to Wendy filled in the space sort of talking half to herself really because Atta was more focused on the piece in front of her as Wendy’s heart like hammered into her rib cage, “Yeah, I mean I know it’s a bit big now that I’m kind of looking at you standing next to it and I’ll probably have to deliver it out to like the edge of the forest. I don’t know if I’m like allowed to do deliveries or anything to the Hollow itself, but maybe that Sled guy who’s helped you at the shoppe that you’ve talked about can help you move it into your place--”
And then Atta spoke and Wendy shut up immediately, biting on her lip and a sheepish sort of grin appearing on her face, “I, um, well, I’m glad you like it.” She didn’t know why the whisper of the words made her heart feel a weird pain or why it sent a kind of chill through her.
She shrugged one shoulder, “I wanted to make something that was strong, but not something that was rough or hard or bulky. Something that would protect but wouldn’t suffocate it. It wasn’t something that I wanted to stand out over the fir either, because the whole point is to show it off. So I figured the oak would do the trick.”
Wendy didn’t really get nervous when she was flirting with someone. It was a game at that point. But this wasn’t a game. There wasn’t a score to keep track of and no one was counting points. Wendy hadn’t done this to earn anything but the smile and, well she guessed, the small tears in Atta’s eyes.
Wendy stepped forward, a small smile on her face as she stood next to Atta, “I just hope you don’t cry every time you think of me.” It was a small joke, but the air between them wasn’t diffused by the humor because the minute Wendy stepped closer, she didn’t want to move away and she wouldn’t. Her hand moved to take Atta’s, squeezing it gently. Her hands seemed so small compared to hers, not as rough or anything like that, her eyes looked down into glistening ones, “You know, if you’re thinking about giving me a case back. I don’t really need one. I think about you plenty without one.”
And then Wendy leaned down and pressed her lips to Atta’s.
ATTA:
Wendy stepped closer.
Wendy took her hand.
And Atta felt-- that she was big and small all at once, both the tree and the flower upon its branch. She had never felt such things before. She was born important, born with a magic so rare that to realize its true beauty one must wait a lifetime to see it flourish. Because of that, she’d always been small to herself, just a seedling, and a shy one. As the princess of the Orkney Hollow, she felt she would never grow. She would stay this tiny thing forever.
But Wendy looked at her like she’d already bloomed.
“Oh,” she murmured, her cheeks blushing, her eyes shining. Her hand clenched a little in Wendy’s and she nearly pulled away as Wendy leaned down--
I shouldn’t, she thought, but didn’t move.
Why shouldn’t she? Why hide herself anymore? Here, she could be herself.
And so Wendy kissed her.
It was Atta’s first kiss. She didn’t really know what to do with it, this strange press of lips, wet and warm against her own. She’d read of great romances and heard stories from her friends, and so she could describe a kiss in perfect, accurate detail. But describing a kiss as if it were a thing to study was not the same thing as experiencing it. All those stories washed away. Oh, she thought again, her eyes wide open so she could see Wendy’s face against her own and count her eyelashes, if she wanted.
This whole time, you know, she had thought of Wendy like a tree-- tall, strong, steady, beautiful. Up close, her eyelashes were the softest things about her. They made Atta wonder about the rest of Wendy. What had she missed, standing just a metre away, that she could now see with fresh eyes up close?
And what could she see if she closed her eyes?
Atta did then. They fluttered closed and she pressed back against Wendy. Her hand went to one of Wendy’s arms. Their lips fluttered against each other, gently, like butterfly wings. It was a simple, soft kiss and it ended in a few seconds. But when it did, Atta thought she would love to do that again.
She was blushing bright red, absolutely. “Was that okay?” she blurted, very embarrassingly. “I’ve never done that before.”
WENDY
The kiss was good. It wasn’t by any means the most passionate kiss Wendy had been part of. It wasn’t full of want. It was just nice and sort of made Wendy feel a little floaty like she’d grown her own pair of fairy wings by kissing Atta.
It was so soft that Wendy wanted to do it again almost immediately but at Atta’s words she realized that she had to handle this a little more delicately than the last few she’d had. She honestly hadn’t expected this to be Atta’s first, but she was glad she’d gone to all this effort to make it sort of special without really knowing it. She looked at Atta, a small smile on her face as she tucked Atta’s hair behind her ears while looking down at her, her arm tingling where Atta’s hand pressed up against the fabric of her long sleeves.
She was fucking cute when she was all red wasn’t she?
“Yeah, it was good.” Wendy murmured out, hand slipping along the small of Atta’s back. The truth was that Wendy liked the idea of being Atta’s first kiss. And her second and third and whatever beyond that that this could develop into. “I’ll, uh, let you in on a little tip. It gets even better the more you do it.” The corner of her mouth turned up a bit in a smirk as she leaned down and pressed another soft kiss to Atta’s lips, dragging the kiss out slowly, letting their lips move against each other with the only sound of their breaths in between the parting of their mouths. Her hand cupped Atta’s cheek with a very light touch before her fingers found themselves in blonde tresses during the kiss.
As they parted again, Wendy’s grin only widened as her eyes opened once more, “See? You’ll be an expert in no time. Captain of kissing talents.”

His Koala Bear P2 🐨 Dark!Steve x Reader
Tumblr media
PART 1
Summary: It’s Steve’s birthday. Doesn’t he deserve to feel good?
Warning: dark!steve, naive!reader, flirty!bucky, steve is V E R Y manipulative and toxic, smut (handjob), cheating/adultery
🐨
Nothing sexual happened between you and Steve after the night he spent in your bed. Neither of you brought it up, not even the morning after when you woke up with his boner poking between your inner thighs.
"Pancakes?" He whispered into your ear once he saw your eyes fluttering open. The smile on his face was sweet and genuine, making you feel infinitely better. The guilt and regret had dissipated. Normalcy had resumed.
That was two months ago.
New York in the summer is your favorite. It's warm, the sky is the same shade of blue as Steve's eyes, and everyone's seemingly in a better mood. You can spend more time outside and short cab rides are traded in for longer, cheaper walks. But the weather isn't the best thing about summer - Steve's birthday is.
The great thing about his birthday is that it falls on a federal holiday, so you never have to worry about taking time off work. The other great thing is that everyone is in the mood to party on the 4th of July, meaning everyone is willing to go all out and make Steve's birthday the most exciting celebration of the year.
He pretends to dislike the attention and the fuss, but you know he loves it deep down.
"Happy birthday!" Everyone yells as he walks out into the decorated garden, clad in an unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt and black swimming trunks.
"Ah, you guys," Steve grins, hugging Sharon and a few others while they all greet him. You're quick to rush over and pull him into an embrace, which is short and not as tight as he wants it to be. But he knows that everyone's eyes are on him, and he can't give in to your intoxication so publicly. He scans your body quickly, hoping the smell of your sweet perfume doesn't make him hard in front of his wife.
It does, but she doesn't notice.
The party begins, and so does the fun. Music plays, Sam and Natasha fire up the barbecue, and alcoholic ice pops are distributed by Bucky, who hands you one with a smirk.
"Don't get too rowdy now; we all remember what happened last year," He teases nudging your shoulder.
At Steve's last birthday party, once most people had left and it was only his close friends that remained, things got a little wild. You got more drunk than ever before, and the next day you had to be told by a smug Bucky that you had given Steve a 'birthday lap dance' after Sharon went to bed. Luckily for you, anyone that would have judged you was also too drunk to remember.
You roll your eyes at his words. "Just because you're the heaviest heavy-weight in history, doesn't mean you can make fun of me. You're just jealous it costs me less than three cocktails to get drunk." Giving him a smug look, you wrap your lips around the ice pop, smiling at the cooling relief it brings you.
He sighs, "I have to admit; it'd be nice to stop seeing half my paycheck drown in whiskey." Looking you up and down, he tilts his head and steps closer to you. "You look good, doll."
"Thanks," You say sweetly. You're wearing white denim shorts and a tight red tank top, with a necklace resting atop your cleavage.
Bucky stares at your body hungrily, but you miss the lustrous look in his eyes. "You still seeing that chump? What's-his-face, Andrew?"
"Alex," You correct, before nodding. "And yes. We're taking things slow, but it's fun."
"Slow but fun?" Bucky questions with a raised eyebrow. "Those things rarely go hand in hand, darlin'."
"Then you have a lot to learn, Buck-o," You reply with a shrug, licking the lolly from bottom to top to stop the melted juice from dripping onto your wrist.
He narrows his eyes at you. "Are you trying to make me hard, or something?"
Your eyes practically bulge out at his accusation. "Um, what-"
"'Cause it's working," He continues, shooting you a wink. Your heart races, and you shyly look to the ground.
"Hey, babe," A familiar voice calls out from the right, and you turn to see Alex. Giving him a warm smile, you accept his side hug before he looks up at Bucky. "Hey, man. Good to see you."
"You too," Bucky replies flatly, shaking his hand. "You guys, uh, you guys look good together," He compliments, using his beer to point between you and Alex. "Picture-perfect."
"Thank you," You reply politely, before you look over his shoulder to see Steve and Sharon sharing some intense whispers. Alex and Bucky make small talk while you focus on Steve, who is left alone when Sharon storms off, his eyebrows furrowed and his jaw clenched.
You can't help but feel bad for him, and slightly peeved off with Sharon. It's his birthday, and she has upset him.
"Uh, I'll be right back," You tell Alex, handing him the ice pop before patting Bucky's shoulder. "Could you introduce Alex to Sam? I think they have a ton in common."
Before either of them can protest, you're rushing away. Bucky watches as you make your way straight to Steve, a sly grin on his lips. Turning back to Alex, he raises a brow. "That don't bother you?"
Alex frowns, looking to where you're hugging Steve. "What; Y/N and Steve? Not at all."
"You're sure?" Bucky presses, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "They're awfully close, no?"
"They've been best friends their whole lives. If anything was ever gonna happen between them, it would have by now," Alex tells him with a shrug. "Plus, Steve's like, the nicest guy ever."
The truth is, Alex is terrified of Steve. He knows how much power he holds; not just in terms of his wealth but also with his business connections. He's associated with people like Tony Stark and the Maximoff siblings; Steve Rogers could end Alex Widmore in minutes with the right motivation. That's the only reason Alex is happy to take things slow with you, even if it leaves him sexually frustrated every night when all you give him after a date is a quick kiss. He knows he has to impress Steve before you'll be willing to take the next step with him.
Alex thinks you're like a sister to Steve. Alex couldn't be more wrong.
Bucky nods slowly, hiding his smirk as he remembers all the things Steve has drunkenly admitted to him. For years, he'd tell Bucky all about the dark thoughts he had about you, and how many times he got close to just taking you and kissing you and fucking you, so hard. After a recent late night out though, Steve's ramblings were different. Instead of saying what he wished he could do to you, he told Bucky how good it felt to rub against you, and how quickly he came with your body underneath him. Piecing together Steve's mumbles, Bucky figured out exactly what happened that night two months ago.
And now, as he watches Steve give you that puppy-dog look while you completely give in with a pout, Bucky knows that that night won't be the last time Steve takes advantage of you.
"You're wearing the necklace," Steve beams down at you, tempted to reach out and touch it, just so he can brush his fingers against your chest. But he's in public. He can't let anyone else know about the ways he breaks the rule of friendship with you.
"I always wear it on your birthday," You tell him with a proud smile. "It's my favorite."
It's a silver Tiffany necklace with a pendant reminiscent of a soldier's dogtag, with Steve's initials and a small heart engraved onto it. You researched just how much it cost him after he gifted it to you for your 18th birthday, almost having a heart attack when you found out. Back then, Steve wasn't the rich CEO he is today, but he didn't let that stop him from spoiling his favorite girl.
The idea for the necklace came to him after he masturbated to you one night as a horny teenager, imagining the heavenly sounds he could pull from your mouth if you belonged to him. He needed to find some way to prove that you'd always be his, and what better way than to decorate your pretty breasts with expensive silver, signed S.G.R. as though Steve Grant Rogers made you himself?
Stopping himself from jumping on you while he stares down at the necklace sitting between your soft, supple mounds, he feels his pants tighten. He wants to engrave his initials into your skin.
He knows you don't wear the necklace often because you're scared of damaging or losing it. You are both also aware that Sharon doesn't love that you own a necklace with her husband's initials on it, and Alex was a little weirded out when he saw you put it on this morning.
Steve makes a mental note to buy you something you can wear all the time; something that will more discreetly mark you as his. Something only he knows about.
"Can I give you your present early?" You ask him earnestly, eyeing the gift table covered in wrapped up boxes. You know his friends are all rich and lovely and probably bought him some great presents, but you also know Steve always prefers whatever you give him. This year, now that your job has allowed for you to extend your budget, you've spent a lot of money on his gift.
"Of course, sweetheart," Steve replies sweetly, smiling down at you. "But I've told you a million times; you don't ever need to spend money on me." He loves how it feels to practically throw money at you; it gives him a sense of ownership when he's able to provide for you and spoil you, which is what makes it so hard for him to ever accept you spending a single penny on him.
"And I've told you a million times that it's my right and my duty as your best friend to give you the best gift every year," You counter with a playful glare. "Now, can we go inside, find somewhere quiet? I don't want anyone else to see it."
"Sure," He says casually, doing his best to ignore how excited your suggestion makes him. He leads you into the house, taking your hand once you've disappeared from the view of anyone else. To your slight confusion, he takes you into a spare bedroom and into the en suite, which he locks the door of.
He leans against the counter and you stand in front of him, smiling while reaching into your small side bag and pulling out a velvet box.
"What is it?" He whispers, tilting his head.
"Find out," You whisper back, holding it out. Slowly, he takes it from your hand and opens it, before pulling out what is inside. It's a thick, gold chain bracelet, with a pendant on which is engraved an animal.
The smile is wide on his lips as he looks at it closely, before he glances up to you with adoration. "It's a koala."
You grin, "That's what you called me... that night. It kinda stuck with me." Steve shivers at your mention of that damn night, though he knows your intentions and meaning behind it are utterly innocent.
"I'll never take it off," He promises while clasping it on behind his gold Rolex, keeping his eyes hooked onto you. "That way, wherever I am, I'll always have my little koala bear with me."
Giggling, you happily accept the bone-crushing embrace he pulls you into, glad that he likes the present and glad that he didn't think you meant anything untoward by referring to that night. Though you've each avoided the subject, it was still one of the sweetest night you've spent together, and it brought you closer than you thought possible.
"Thank you, sweetheart, I love it. And I love you, so much," He mumbles against your neck, his beard tickling your skin. "It's my favorite present ever. Ever, ever, ever."
"I love you, too," You reply, before pulling away with a playful frown, "Is it even better than the handmade pillow I made you when we were thirteen?"
"Oh, definitely not," Steve joked, chuckling while wrapping his arms around you. His smile fell after a few seconds, though, as he remembered what pissed him off earlier. "Was Bucky making you uncomfortable?"
You're surprised at his question, and you shake your head almost reflexively. It's a lot easier to deny that Bucky may have overstepped his boundary, rather than complain about it and possibly cause a rift between Steve and his close friend. "No, not at all. He's just a hopeless flirt."
"I can tell him to back off," Steve offers, to which you softly laugh and shake your head.
"Really, Stevie, you don't have to-"
"I'll tell him to back off, baby," He cuts you off, his tone gentle but adamant in the way that you know he's already made up his mind.
"Okay," You whisper, resting your hands against his bare torso.
Steve's hands slip down into the back pockets of your shorts, his fingers nimbly rubbing up and down as his palms gently cup your ass. You notice the furrow of his brows, and his clenched jaw, his demeanor filling you with concern.
"Are you alright?" You ask him. "Are you upset because of what Sharon said?" When you approached Steve outside, he told you that he and Sharon had just been fighting because apparently, he wasn't putting in enough effort with her parents during the party.
"No," He sighed, his eyes downcast. "I'm just a little... in pain- no, just feeling a little discomfort."
His words make your lips part. It hurts you to know that he's hurting, especially on his special day, and you want nothing more than to make him feel better. "Oh no, Stevie, what's wrong?" You ask, clutching his shirt in your hands.
Taking in a deep breath, he gives you a small smile, pulling your body closer to his. "Nothing. Don't worry about it, sweetheart."
"No," You insist with a pout, knowing that his smile is fake. "Tell me, Steve, please. How can I help if I don't know what's wrong?"
Bashfully, he looks up to meet your eyes, which he holds captive with his. "It's, uh... it's my cock."
Your eyes widen a fraction at his admission, but you remain calm. "Oh. Oh?"
"Yeah," He says, letting out a nervous chuckle. "It's just aching a little."
"Is there anything I can do?" You ask quietly, worried to death about him.
Steve removes one of his hands from your short pockets to cup your face, using his thumb to stroke your cheek. He loves just how easily he can have you right where he wants you, and he knows that now is the perfect moment to take another step further. For two long months, he has remained patient. To ensure that you stay comfortable around him, and unaware of his dark cravings, he resorted straight back to Innocent Steve after that night. He knows that, in order to turn you into his submissive plaything, he needs to break you down slowly. He needs to take his time in stealing your innocence, piece by piece, until you crave him just as much as he craves you. Until you're the one begging for him.
He shakes his head before resting his forehead against yours. "I couldn't ask that of you."
"Steve, please," You beg him softly. "I wanna help you. I'm here for you; I'm your best friend."
If he's good at one thing, it's acting like you've pushed him into a corner and that he has no choice but to do what you obviously want him to do. Biting down on his lip, he slowly reaches down into his trunks and takes out his incredibly erect cock. The tip is red and swollen, making your heart race. It sits thick and hard between you, brushing against his bare abs and your clothed stomach, the tip almost poking the bottom of your breasts.
"Steve," You breathe out. It definitely looks like it's in pain.
"If you just..." He begins, pretending like he isn't at all happy about what he's about to ask of you. "Just rub it a little..."
You feel a jolt shoot through your body at his request. Though you feel oddly tempted to do as he says, you can't help but feel uncomfortable. "Should- should I call Sharon?"
"No, no," Steve says firmly, shaking his head while stroking your cheek gently. "She doesn't care about me, baby. Not like you do."
Your eyes soften at his words. He's so sweet, and kind, and deserves a world of happiness. You hate that Sharon doesn't treat him as well as she should. "Okay," You agree. "I- I'll help you, Stevie."
He takes one of your hands in his, before gradually moving it to his dick. Wrapping your fingers around his shaft, Steve lets out a shaky breath, guiding your hand up and down, slowly and gently.
"Oh, fuck," He whispers, his lips parting. "That feels really good, sweetheart. So good."
You're happy to hear his relief, and proud that you're the one making him feel better. His cock is as hard as a rock beneath your palm, and you're shyly moving up and down, jumping slightly every time he twitches or throbs.
"You're doing so well for me," Steve praises, stroking your hips. "Keep going." You do as he says, looking up to meet his eyes. He nods down at you, prompting you to continue. "Just like that, pretty girl, just like that."
He wraps his hand around yours, making you grip him tighter before speeding up your pace. Steve can't help but let out grunts, keeping one hand on your back, rubbing it comfortingly to ensure you remain calm and unafraid.
"Spit on it," He utters, making your eyes widen. "Make it a little wet; it'll be easier."
You swallow thickly, taken aback by his strange request but agreeing with a silent nod nonetheless. Before you can gather some saliva in your mouth, though, he grabs your chin.
"Say, 'Yes, Sir'," He orders you gently. Steve can't hold back his desire for dominance over you, even though he knows he needs to take things slow.
"W- what?" You ask, letting out a nervous laugh as your hand stills around his cock. "Why?"
His face remains stoic, his tone less forgiving when he speaks. "Say it."
You nod quickly, feeling yourself fall into his clutches. Whatever Steve says, goes. "Yes, Sir." You feel pride when he smirks down at you, before bending your head forward and letting out a long string of spit onto his cock. It slides down from the tip over the shaft, coating his length. Your action causes his pre-cum to leak out, mixing in with your saliva and moistening every inch of him, making it easy for your hand to slide up and down it while Steve softly grunts.
"Good girl," He mumbles, cupping your face in his hands as he brings your forehead against his, his eyes closing. "You're making me feel so much better. You're my sweetheart, aren't you?"
"Yes, Sir," You repeat, liking the way it feels when you say it and also loving the look on his face when you do.
Steve chuckles. You've always been such a quick learner. "Rub it a little harder. Don't be afraid, baby. You're making all my pain go away."
You comply with his order, fisting his cock in your soft palm. Steve throws his head back, letting out a loud groan of pleasure. Wanting to hear him make the sound some more, you keep going, in love with the knowledge that you're the one helping him out. You're the one taking away his pain.
"Faster," He lets out between grunts, tangling his hand in your hair and pulling on it. "Use both hands for me." His cock is big, and your hand takes its time getting from the base to the tip. Steve is growing impatient, but he only falls deeper in love with you when you begin using both of your hands to jerk him off, determination and subordination clear in your demeanor.
Picking up your pace, you accidentally twist your hands around his shaft, but it only makes him moan louder.
"Fuck, do that again," He orders, and you gladly do. Steve lets out a dark chuckle, breathing heavily. "You're doing so well for me, my sweet girl. You're helping me out so much."
You feel his cock throbbing incessantly under your grip, and you're motivated to please him. His lips brush against yours, but he doesn't kiss you. Instead, he pours his groans into your open mouth, his hands holding your hips tightly as you pulls you flush against him. He needs to keep you as close to himself as possible, as though even an inch of distance between you will kill him.
Steve bucks his hips, fucking your hands as you twist and tighten around his cock, and before long he's letting out a guttural moan, along with your name. Suddenly, he erupts, his cum shooting out of his tip and coating his bare stomach, along with your top. You immediately stop your movements, but Steve quickly grabs both your hands with one of his and forces you to continue wanking him through his orgasm.
"Yes, yes, baby," He whispers against your lips. "That feels incredible." Eventually, he releases your hands from his grip and you feebly let go of his cock, your eyes wide and your heart racing.
"I'm sorry," You say quickly. "I- I didn't mean to make you..." You feel incredibly guilty for making him cum when all you were supposed to do was stop his discomfort.
"Hey, hey, hey," Steve cups your face, staring into your eyes. "That wasn't your fault. You were only helping me, baby."
You give him wide doe eyes, trying to ignore the warmth of his spurts of cum that landed on your chest. "A-are you sure, Steve?"
"I promise," He vows, stroking your cheek. "You were just being my best friend, like you always are." A hint of a smirk pulls at the corner of his lips as he glances down at your body. With his thumb, he scoops up the cum that landed on your chest, to the right of your necklace, threatening to drip down your breast. Once it has been collected on his thumb, he brings it up to his lips. "Open."
His order makes you shiver, but you do as he says. His thumb moves to land on your tongue, and he lets out a shaky breath when you suck it clean. Quickly becoming addicted to the sight of his seed disappearing into your mouth as you swallow, he wipes the drops that landed on his abs, repeating his earlier action and feeding his hot cum to you.
Once it's all gone, he smiles innocently and gives you a soft kiss on your lips. "Thank you. You're such a good girl for me."
"D- do you feel better?" You ask. "Does it still hurt?"
Steve shakes his head, putting away his softening cock before returning his hands into your back pockets and pulling your chest against his. "Not at all. You fixed me with your angel hands."
His words warm your heart and make you giggle. You wrap your arms around his neck, "Good. All I ever want is to help you, Steve, and make sure that you're happy. Especially on your birthday."
He grins at you, swaying you gently in his hold. "You always make me happy, pretty baby. You don't even have to try." Looking down, he lets out a chuckle. "We're going to have to change you out of that top, angel hands."
You blush at the nickname, but you also have to agree with him. Your red tank top is now stained with Steve's cum, and there's no way you can just convince everyone you had an unfortunate accident with a melting ice cream.
"I have a bikini on underneath; I can just say I got hot," You inform him nonchalantly, making him gulp. Without a word, he watches as you pull your top out from your high-waisted shorts and off your body, throwing it to the ground.
Steve's eyes shamelessly stay glued to your chest, his hands unintentionally tightening around your ass through your pockets. "Nice bikini."
"You're the one who chose it," You inform him with a sly smile, a blush on your cheeks as you remember the shopping trip on which he spent thousands of dollars on you without even batting an eyelid. You're pretty sure he went home that night and got screamed at by Sharon for spending his money on something other than her.
Steve takes his eyes off your skin and looks at the actual bikini, which is maroon and leaves little to the imagination. He almost cums again at the idea that this whole time, you've been wearing the swimsuit he bought. This whole time, your most intimate parts have been held by the material that he paid for. This whole time, he's fucking owned you, and you've happily let him.
"I love you, my koala bear," He hums, feeling himself harden again already. His lips press to yours with every word he says, but neither of you make an effort to move back. "I'm never gonna let anyone take you away from me. Ever."
He thinks of Bucky flirting with you and has to stop himself from going back out to the garden and knocking him out. He thinks of the fact that Alex has kissed you, kissed Steve's property, and imagines all the different ways he could torture him for touching you. Steve knows he has to act fast; he knows he has to make sure that your relationship with Alex doesn't develop any further. Yes, you two are taking it slow, but Steve sees the way Alex looks at your body. He knows it's only a matter of time before he tries to do more than just kiss you.
"Nobody ever will," You promise. "I'll always be your best friend."
That's what he's afraid of. But Steve is a patient man. He's waited over two decades for you; what's a little longer before you're serving him unconditionally, without question?
"You didn't say it back," He mumbles against your neck, taking in your scent as his cock twitches. "Say it back, baby."
You grin before taking a hold of his head and pulling it back so he has to look at you. "Steve," You begin, nothing but adoration in your eyes for the man standing above you. "I love you."
Steve smiles and wraps his arms tightly around you, hugging you like it's the last time. "Good girl," He hums, a smirk on his lips as his hand shamelessly squeezes your ass and his other rubs your bare shoulder, his face buried in the crook of your neck. "My good girl."

How would the four lords react if their s/o suddenly says, “I think I’m in love with you,” while watching them do something mundane, eg. Alcina putting on her lipstick, Heisenberg tinkering with something, etc.
This makes me so happy :,)
Alcina
You lay on the large bed you and Alcina shared. It was made to fit her, so to you it was like an ocean of soft mattress and silk sheets. You were so comfortable, although the presence of your lover would make the situation all the more comforting. Instead of laying with you, she was hurrying to get ready for a meeting Mother Miranda had called together. She always made sure to look her best before leaving the house. You lay on your side and prop your head up with your hand, all your weight put onto your elbow. You watched as she sat down in front of her mirror to do some touch ups on her makeup.
"I wish you didn't have to go. I wish you could just lay here with me." you complain. "I know my dear. I'd love nothing more than be able to spend my time with you, lazing away, but I'm afraid this meeting is very important." her tone was soft and sweet. It was a tone she only spoke to you in. You sigh and continue to stare at her, admiring the way she gently bounces her hair in her hands to make sure it sits perfectly. She notices you staring through the mirror and can't help but smile as she reaches for her favorite lipstick.
"I'm surprised you haven't burned a hole in me with that stare of yours." she says before parting her lips to apply her lipstick.
"I think I'm in love with you.", you lovingly say. It wasn't odd or out of the ordinary. You told her that you loved her often, but there was something special about the way you said it this time that made her freeze. Her eyes grew wide for just a second as a blush began to rise from her pale cheeks. She turns to face you, intensely staring into your eyes as the corners of her lips perk upwards into a pleasant smile. "Oh my sweet (Y/N).", she stands up and walks over to you before placing a kiss on your lips, leaving a red stain from her lipstick.
Donna
You yawn as you curl up comfortably in a chair with a hot cup of tea in your hands. It's not a yawn of boredom or exhaustion, but a yawn of comfort. The type of yawn your body produces because it's so at peace that life itself begins to lull you to sleep. You were watching as Donna sewed a brand new dress for one of her dolls. She had taken off her veil to do this, not wanting any lack of vision to ruin her progress. The dress was beautiful. She had been working on it for days. It was a small, pink and flower patterned dress with white lace around the edges that Donna stared at with intensity as she attached it with her needle and thread.
No words were spoken for the entirety of her process. You sat in silence and watch through out all of it. The way her eyes never unfocused from the task made your heart flutter. The way her dainty hands held the fabric so gently caused a light smile to rest on your face. She was just so beautiful.
After a while, you decide to break the silence. "I think I'm in love with you." She gasps and nearly pricks her finger with the needle. Her whole body language changed as she nervously fiddled with a stray strand of hair with her fingers. Her shyness only made you smile harder. "I think I love you too.", she whispers before smiling and continuing with her work, attempting to hide how flustered she is.
Moreau
The light from the tv was the only thing illuminating the room. Moreau had put on one of his favorite romance movies for you both to watch. You told him you'd never seen it before and that absolutely blew his mind. How could you NOT see this masterpiece of a movie? There was no negotiating with the man. You HAD to watch it and so now here you are, curled up on the couch with him in the dark.
You had noticed out of the corner of your eye throughout the whole movie that Sal kept turning his head towards you, observing your reactions to his favorite parts of the movie. He wanted nothing more than for you to enjoy the movie just as much as he does, so you made sure to pay close attention. It was a very cheesey movie about an underdog winning the girl of his dreams who's way out of his league. But still, you pushed through.
You noticed that he hadn't looked over at you in a while. His face was too fixated on the television. You glance over to and notice something. Very subtly, he was mouthing every word spoken in the movie. You kept staring but made sure to not make it obvious enough for him to notice. Word for word, he got everything right. Every single word and sentence was right on time. "How many times has he seen this?", you wondered to yourself. Then, the movie goes silent for a second other than some cinematic music. His lips stopped moving as there were no more words to speak, but a smile grew on his face. You look to the movie and see that it was some sort of scene where the two characters have their first kiss. It's passionate and wholesome. "I think I'm love with you.", you say as you stare at him. He jumps as his shocked expression jerks from the tv to your face. His eyes were wide and his mouth was agape. "R-REALLY?!" You laugh at his excitement. "Of course! I know it!", you assure him before placing a kiss on his cheek.
Heisenberg
"Son of a bitch..." he grumbled quietly as he fiddled with something small in his hands. He had been working on a gift for you for a while now, but he needed it to be absolutely perfect. His face was sweaty even though he wasn't doing anything that required any hard physical labor. It was just the sheer intensity of his own perfectionism that caused such stress for him. He had a pair of glasses that he never wears on. They just help magnify things for him so he can see even the smallest little details of whatever he's working on.
"Heisey, I'm bored. Mind if I sit in here while you work? I promise I won't be a distraction.", you lean on the doorway to his workshop. "Sure but you're gonna have to sit..", he paused for a second as he dragged a metal chair across the room, setting it in a corner that's the farthest away from him. "Oh come on!", you groan. "Don't give me that bitchin'. I'm busy and this is top secret stuff I'm working on!" You groan at his ridiculousness and walk over to the chair anyway. You sat down and watched as his brow remained furrowed intensely. "Damn. He must be working on something serious." You thought to yourself. You noticed he had his tongue sticking out ever so slightly as he worked. You wanted to chuckle, but didn't want to distract him. "Stupid piece of shit..... come on....", he whispers to himself through gritted teeth.
You stared at him, captivated by his focus and intensity. Whatever he's working on must be really small because he's able to hide it from your field of vision with just his hand. He kept grunting and whispering things under his breath. You could tell he was growing frustrated with whatever he was working on. "What are you working on again?", you question. "It's a surprise.", he says bluntly. Your interest is peaked.
He looked goofy. His large body was hunched over a chair, hovering over something so small you hadn't even seen it yet. How could something so small be causing so much stress from such a large man. The absurdity of it all caused you to chuckle. "What the hell's so funny?" He sounds aggravated as all hell yet his focus never strays away from whatever is in his hands. He looked to be carving into whatever it is.
"I think I'm in love with you.", you blurt out. He responds with a cocky chuckle after pausing for a second. You couldn't tell, but in that second where he was speechless, he felt like his heart stopped. Did you really mean it? Could you really mean it? Why now? How could him in such a strange position invoke feelings of affection from you? While his mind raced, he was able to appear as if it didn't affect him. "Oh yeah? How come?" "You're just so funny looking right now. But in a cute way.", you explain. "Like, you're this big and powerful guy, but you're so stressed over something that's so smile and you're trying so hard to work on whatever it is with your giant hands. I'm not sure why, but it's just so loveable to me."
He had completely frozen during your words. He had no idea what to do. It felt as if his brain short circuited and was unable to proceed normally from that moment. "You know what. I think it's perfect.", he says before stepping away from his workshop table with his hand clasped together. He swallowed harshly as he walked towards you and revealed what was in his hands. He made a necklace all by himself with his own blood, sweat, and tears. On the front, it was his family crest. He had manage to manipulate the metal perfectly. On the back it had the word "Buttercup", engraved. You didn't hesitate to put it around your neck. "It looks even better on you.", he smirks before pulling you into a kiss.

So like reader is planning on throwing a party bc it’s their birthday so marinette decided to throw a party on the same day at the same time. And since reader is kinda new, everyone decided to go to Mari’s party. So that happens, but when Adrien gets to readers party, they’ve done gone batshit crazy, like screaming, crying, smashing things, idk just losing their shit. Not like in anger, they’re just really hurt by it. No hawk moth tho😩 hawkdaddy go on vacay or sum🤺🤺 Mk sorry this is long and it’s late and I’m kiiinndaaa drunk and in da feels anyway bye bye
HELLO ANON! SORRY FOR THE LONG WAIT BUT HERE IT IS! I never thought that i would have to write about mean marinette but here i am LMAO. i hope you like it bb <33
Pairing: Adrien Agreste X Reader
Warnings: Swearing.
Tags: angst, Marinette is a bitch in this oops, alexa play pity party by melaine martinez.
“Love, Adrien.”
“Wow, that’s really cringey Adrien.”
“Shut up plagg, I need to confess to her some way or another.”
Adrien Agreste is sprawled out on his bed and he just finished writing a birthday card for you. Yes, it was quite cheesy but he decided that today was going to be the day he confesses his feelings towards you. He’s had his eye on you ever since your first day of school and you’ve both gotten closer to each other, flirting constantly but never making a move. Needless to say, he was head over heels for you and was too much of a pussy to ever admit it. But tonight was the night.
You invited him over to your house for your birthday party along with your other classmates and he didn’t even think twice to agree – especially since his dad is at a fashion expo in Spain. All he wanted was for you to have the best birthday party you could possibly have. You really meant a lot to him.
his thoughts disappear when all of a sudden his phone beeps.
‘Y/N’S PARTY WILL BE HELD AT MY PLACE SO WE CAN SURPRISE HER, DON’T MENTION ANYTHING TO HER. 7PM ! DON’T BE LATE! ~Marinette’
‘Sorry, can’t come tonight.’ You frowned as you stared at your phone, seeing a text from Marinette. You and her weren’t really that close to be honest but you still wished for her to come and have a good time. You sighed and plopped down on your bed. It’s your sweet 16th and you wanted it to be perfect. You hoped that enough people would show up. It was your first birthday here in Paris and although you haven’t been here for a while, you thought that you already made close connections with your classmates, especially a certain blond.
All you wanted was for him to show up mostly, maybe tonight you could make a move. Maybe tonight you could possibly hold his hand, maybe dance with him, maybe give him a kiss on his soft cheek or a small peck on the lips-
Your face heated up at that thought and a grin appeared on your face. You hugged your pillow and quietly squealed. Tonight was the night and nothing could possibly ruin it.
Or so you hoped.
Everywhere was decorated with fairy lights, balloons and glitter. Music was already playing and there were drinks and snacks for everyone to enjoy. You were wearing the outfit you’ve been planning for ages and you were sitting down, leg bouncing as you wait for people to arrive.
Did you get the time incorrect? you did mention to everyone that you’re meeting up at 7pm. It was 7:15.
Maybe they were running late? But how could it be that all of them were running late?
You furrow your eyebrows and grab your phone. You go on Instagram to see if anyone posted anything about their whereabouts.
Kim was live.
You click on it and see him walking through a crowd of people.
“Marinette, this party is amazing!” you hear him shout.
“Thanks Kim.” You hear her say.
Your jaw drops Anger starts bubbling inside of you.
Kim turns the phone up and shows Nino on the dj stand. He waves to the camera.
“Adrien! say hi to my live.” Adrien appears next to Kim. He was caught off guard. He smiles sheepishly and waves at the camera awkwardly.
Your phone drops out of your grasp and tears start rolling down your cheeks furiously.
Adrien was looking everywhere for you. it was already 8pm and he was wondering when you’d show up. He held your gift and note close to his chest, he wanted to personally give them to you.
“H-hey Adrien..” The voice of Marinette makes him turn around to face her.
“Marinette! Where’s the birthday girl?” He asks, furrowing his eyebrows.
Marinette stares at him for a moment and nervously chuckles. “oh- well- she uh- she can’t make it!” He shrugs and laughs again. “did you get something to drink? We have pomegranate juice, peach lemonade, spr-“
“what do you mean she can’t make it? Why the hell is the party still going?” Adrien questions, looking around in disbelief.
“Adrien i-“
“Marinette, your plan is totally working, can’t believe everyone fell for- “ Alya stops speaking when she notices that Adrien is in front of her and purses her lips.
Adrien stares at Marinette for a moment, narrowing his eyes and shaking his head. “On her own birthday? Marinette, this is so not like you.” He was disgusted by her actions.
“Adrien wait!” She calls out. “I can explain.”
“I don’t know why you did this, or what the hell is wrong with you but this was really low. I’m out of here.” He glares at her before walking away from her.
You were out of control. You cried, you screamed, you threw everything you saw in front of your eyes until you fell on your knees, sobbing.
You couldn’t believe Marinette would do this, you couldn’t believe everyone would do this to you, especially Adrien.
You thought you’ve grown close to the people in your class but you were wrong. They didn’t show up to your birthday party, they lied to you. Your heart was broken.
You held your knees close to your chest as the music lowly played behind you. It was mostly drawn out by your sobs and sniffles.
You hear footsteps approaching you and you look up, with red puffy eyes and see a familiar blond through your blurry vision.
It was Adrien. You look away and sob even harder at the thought of him seeing you like this, with everything destroyed around you. Why did he come here? Did he want to taunt you further?
He kneels down next to you and rubs your shoulder, moving you to his chest and causing you to nuzzle your face there.
“I hate this. I hate today, I hate Marinette.” You mumble. Maybe hate was a strong word, but you didn’t care at that moment.
You look up at him. “Why did you come here Adrien? Do you want to make me feel even more embarrassed than I already am?” You croak out.
He shakes his head. “Please, I swear to you Marinette told me that your birthday party was moved to her place, she told everyone that.” He sighs and shows you his phone so you could see the message Marinette sent him.
“Fucking bitch!” You exclaim and hide your face in your hands again.
“Hey, hey. I got here as soon as I found out she was lying. All I wanted was to celebrate your birthday and make you happy” He says quietly.  “I’m so fucking sorry that this happened.” He says and rests his head against yours in a comforting manner.
You look up at him and wipe your eyes, sniffling. “Well, there’s nothing I can do now. It’s ruined.” You mumble and sigh. “I thought Marinette was my friend you know?” You mutter.
“I know.” Adrien nods and looks down. He stares at the card in his hand and bites his lip, his heart racing at the thought of giving this to you.  “Maybe this will make you feel better.” He says, a small smile twitching on his lips as he hands you the envelope.
You widen your eyes and look up at him as if hesitant to open it. You open it though and you begin to read it.
Ever since the first time I saw you, you absolutely took my breath away. Ever since the day I first saw you, I thought to myself that I have to get to know you better. I did. And that may have been one of the best decisions of my life. You have a beautiful mind, a beautiful soul and a beautiful heart. To be honest, I think I keep falling for you every day. Happy birthday Ma belle, i hope you have the best one yet.
Love, Adrien.
Tears start rolling down your cheeks again, but this time it was because of his sweet words. Your heart finally felt whole.
You look up at him with glistening eyes and give him a wobbly smile.
He smiles sheepishly at you. “Will you go on a date with me?” He asks.
You didn’t even answer, you just leaned in and placed your lips on his.
It was small, but you felt fireworks burst inside of you.
You pull away and watch him flutter his eyes at you, his cheeks glowing red.
“Does that answer your question?” You ask.
He chuckles and kisses you again.
Maybe your birthday wasn’t so bad after all.

pairing: Jin x reader | genre: smut, fluff, establised relationship au | rating: r (18+) | warnings: riding, clit stimulation, pet names, nipple play, creampie | wc: 802 | summary: it’s Jin’s birthday and you both kick it off the right way
[9:00am]
“I love you.”
The words slip out of your mouth breathlessly, your nails digging tightly into his shoulder as your hips roll with the rhythm you set on his cock. It’s your boyfriend Jin’s birthday, and you wanted to surprise him with breakfast in bed, but you find yourself serving cake instead.
“I know you do,” he taunts you, his thumb rubbing your clit. “I need you to show me how much you love me.”
Those very words take you into overdrive, the electricity surging through your legs as you ride him, quickening your pace. Your thumb graces the corner of his mouth, his succulent lips singing you praises that you’ve heard before, but makes your heart flutter nevertheless. You love him deeply, and every experience with him feels new to you, and you want to shower him with appreciation on his special day.
“God, Jin,” you moan, your eyes connecting with his. “You feel so good. I can feel you so deep inside of me.”
Your moans are in sync with his, Jin’s hands now placed firmly on your ass as you bounce on him. Your breasts jump wildly under your white t-shirt, the feeling of being fucked first thing in the morning taking you into a state of euphoria. It’s his day, but you can’t help but feel like you are being rewarded too… That you are being blessed with his thick cock attacking your walls.
“You are so sexy,” Jin grunts, lifting up your shirt. “I want to feel you cum all over me, okay?”
He thrusts up into you harder, and all you can do is nod, eager to feel his hot load fill you up and make you whole. Your addiction to him is strong, and at this point, you realize you would do anything for him. You are down bad, and yet, you don’t care.
“Fuck. I’m close,” your stomach tightens as your sweet release is coming. Your right-hand rubs your nub vigorously until you climax, screaming Jin’s name with your windows wide open. Jin doesn’t let up; instead, he wraps his arm around your waist to push himself deeper inside of you. He leaves wet kisses along your breasts, sucking on each nipple as his eyes roll to the back of his head.
“Shit,” his voice is muffled thanks to your nipple in his mouth. A few hard thrusts later, he fills you up with his seed, nothing more needing to be said as you enjoy this feeling, kissing him passionately. You slowly lift yourself off of him, your pussy sore but feeling satisfied that you kept it all in.
“That’s a good girl,” Jin whispers, kissing your forehead. “I’m going to run you a bath and get you cleaned up, okay?”
You nod, and Jin goes into the bathroom, and you get out of the bed, stretching in front of the open window. You poke your head out, wanting to feel the morning sun rays against your skin. This is the happiest you have ever been, and you want to relive this feeling again and again. Jin is the best boyfriend you’ve ever had, making you feel like royalty in every way that he can.
“Come on, princess,” you hear him come behind you, followed by his arms being wrapped around your waist. “I have the bathwater waiting for you.”
You let him lead the way, walking into your bathroom now filled with roses and well-lit candles. You gaze up at him lovingly, and he tries to hide his smile, failing adorably.
“Is this my birthday or yours?” You joke, stepping into the tub.
Jin doesn’t answer right away, and you don’t think anything of it. You sink into the water and close your eyes, letting the warm scented water cover your body as you relax. A few minutes pass, and you hear Jin clear his throat, and you open your eyes, being met with Jin holding a small box rectangular open with a silver charm bracelet, with both of your initials in it.
“I wanted to wait until after dinner tonight to show you, but I couldn’t wait anymore,” Jin gushed, taking the small charm out of the box.
You beam at him and rise out of the tub, your wet body-hugging his tightly as you thank him.
“It’s beautiful, Jin,” you chirp. “I want to put it on later when we leave. Can you come into the tub with me?”
You step back into the tub, holding Jin’s hand as he climbs in behind you. The warm water is no match for the body heat Jin’s brings against your skin. It feels like home to you. You relax onto him, his arms wrapped around you in a bear hug.
“I love you, princess.”
You chuckle, squeezing Jin’s hand, acknowledging his words of affection.
“I love you more.”

Wanda Maximoff x Reader
Word count: 1.5k
Warnings: cursing, alcohol
Prompt: i was wondering if i could request an imagine?? it’s kind of based off of harry styles’ song ‘falling’ whereas the reader accidentally admits she’s in love with wanda and wanda, having gone through so much heartbreak, pushes the reader away as she’s too scared to get involved with someone again, as all she’s known is loss. so, the two separate a bit until thor talks to her about it because he, too, has shared a lot of heartbreaking moments and shit and it’s not until she’s drunk (lyric: “I’m in my bed, and you’re not here
And there’s no one to blame
But the drink in my wandering hands.”) she realizes the mistake she’s made and goes to find the reader to tell them she’s in love with her too :(  IT’S SOME REAL ANGSTY SHIT BUT I FEEL LIKE IT COULD BE SO GOOD. LMAOO. <3 - @cierrascorpse
Summary: R confesses her love for Wanda. Despite loving her back, Wanda pushes her away, but is convinced to go to R after the two of them have avoided each other for far too long.
A/N: this is my first songfic!! it’s ‘Falling’ by Harry Styles, in case you want to listen to it.
Tumblr media
“You’re back!” You ran over to Wanda and hugged her, heart fluttering when she hugged you back tightly.
When you pulled away, she had a bright smile on her face even though she still looked sleepy.
“Good morning, Y/n,” She chuckled, opening the fridge to get milk for her cereal.
You smiled and grabbed some fruit before sitting on the kitchen barstool and spinning around once or twice, “How did your mission go?”
“Eh,” Wanda shrugged with one shoulder and stuck her spoon in the bowl, nudging her cereal around.
“What happened?” You frowned.
“Nothing, I just made a mistake. Steve’s kind of mad at me,” Wanda sighed, looking up and seeing you with your eyebrow raised. She rolled her eyes, “I wasn’t paying attention and I almost got shot, I got lucky that Steve was watching.”
“Oh my god, Wanda, you have to be more careful.”
“I know, it was just an accident-”
“We don’t have room for accidents. You know better than to make careless mistakes,” You interrupted, shaking your head.
Her brow furrowed, it was weird that you were getting so worked up like this, “Yeah, I do know, and I obviously didn’t almost get shot on purpose, so if you’re going to be like this then I’d prefer you just back off.”
You scoffed as your eyebrows shot up, “Why are you being so defensive about this?”
Her voice raised, “I just don’t get why you care so much-”
“Because I love you!”
Wanda’s jaw snapped closed and she noticeably swallowed before nodding, “I’m going to have breakfast in my room.”
“Wanda-”
“I don’t think us being friends is a great idea, Y/n,” She spoke softly, trying to keep eye contact for as long as she could.
Tears welled in your eyes and you pushed off the bar stool before making your way out of the kitchen, “Fuck you, too, then.”
---
From then on, the two of you didn’t talk unless absolutely necessary, which basically just meant missions and the occasional odd day where you had to talk to each other for something regarding the team.
It hurt. Really bad. Even looking in her general direction made you want to cry. The team wasn’t oblivious to the fact that there was something going on, they figured it out pretty quickly and it didn’t take long for them all to have found out what had happened.
You ended up spending a lot of time with Natasha. You were already close with her before Wanda rejected you, but you became best friends after the fact.
Having to sit through meetings while sitting across from Wanda was excruciating. You willed yourself to get over her but she was constantly occupying your mind and you saw her every day, so that was pretty hard.
Wanda also felt horribly about the situation. She’d never dated anyone before, and she loved you a whole lot, but she knew the last thing you needed was someone like her to come into your life in such a big way and leave mess in her wake.
Her heart raced when you took more than a few seconds to respond to comms and she always found herself looking around for you while out on the field, just to make sure you were okay.
Two months after Wanda had rejected you, the team was pretty fed up with the two of you. They obviously cared about your feelings but you were both way too distracted on mission and careless mistakes were happening more frequently.
That was when Steve gave Thor his own mini-mission of talking to Wanda.
He knocked twice on her door, which had her looking up from her book and opening the door with a swift movement of her fingers, “Thor,” Wanda smiled softly. “What’s up?”
“I wanted to talk to you, about Y/n,” He said as he closed the door, his usually loud voice now quiet and calm.
Wanda’s heart clenched and she bit the inside of her cheek, “Is she okay?”
“Oh,” Thor was now realizing that he might have made it seem like you were hurt. “Yes, she is- well, physically- I mean, it’s complicated.”
Wanda quirked an eyebrow up. The usual eloquent God of Thunder now stumbling over his words like anyone else, “This is about what happened between the two of us, isn’t it?”
“Yes,” He nodded and looked towards the edge of her bed. “May I sit?”
“Be my guest,” She nodded.
“Steve and I were talking about you guys, honestly, the whole team talks about you. It’s been hard to watch you guys like this, but we see the way you still care for each other. I know that you’ve been through a lot, Wanda. Losing family is harder than words could ever begin to describe, I understand that, but that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve happiness and that you can’t love the people you want to love. I see the way you look at her, we all do,” And eloquent Thor was back, apparently. “I just don’t believe you should let this pass you by. She’s a really special girl and she loves you a lot. I think you love her a lot, too, and I think you need each other. That’s all I wanted to say, I guess. I just hope you think about this more- maybe even talk to her when you’re ready, if you are.”
Wanda blinked away the tears in her eyes and nodded, “Thank you, I appreciate it.”
Thor left without saying anything else, and when the door closed behind him, Wanda pulled her pillow to cover her face and groaned. She laid there for a minute before getting up and walking to the kitchen in search of some kind of alcohol.
An hour and a half later, she was laying on her bed in pajama shorts and a red hoodie that you’d given her for her birthday sulking.
She had half a mind to cry, but she didn’t really like drunk crying, and she was far enough into the bottle of vodka for her judgement to be impaired, but not enough to not acknowledge that drunk crying was the worst kind of crying.
After months of being without you, she longed to be near you, to have fun sleepovers again, to sneak away from Tony’s parties to go up to the roof or to watch a movie, she wanted you to braid her hair and cuddle her at night and kiss her-
Before Wanda knew what she was doing, she set the vodka bottle on her nightstand and made her way to your room. She stood outside for a few seconds before knocking quickly so she couldn’t talk herself out of whatever she was about to do.
She could hear you laugh from inside your room, “Nat, did you leave something? You were here like- oh.”
Your smile fell when you opened the door and saw Wanda standing at the other side of it, “Do you need something?”
“I’m so sorry,” Wanda said, her voice breathy, her face flushed, that stupid hoodie that made her look adorable, and her hair tied back into a lose ponytail that was so messed up that it could probably barely even be called a ponytail anymore. But you could tell she was drunk.
You had to stop yourself from scoffing, “Well, you’re two months too late, Wanda.”
“I love you.”
“Don’t do this now,” You shook your head, tears now brimming your eyes. You didn’t want to put up with this when tomorrow things would be back to how they had been.
“Y/n/n, I’m serious. I love you so much,” And tears of her own threatened to spill. “I feel so guilty, as I should, but I just- I was really scared, and I thought that I was going to fuck things up for you, and that’s the last thing I wanted to do. I love you. I’ll say it a million times if that’s what it takes to convince you. I want us to happen.”
You sniffled and wiped away a tear that was starting to run down your face. All of a sudden Wanda was starting to sound really sober. “You promise?” Your voice broke, and you bit your lip, willing yourself to not make any noise.
“I swear to you that I love you,” Wanda smiled softly, bringing her hand up to cup your cheek, wiping away another tear that fell.
You leaned into her touch and closed your eyes for a moment before opening them and being graced by a soft smile on Wanda’s features.
“I would love to kiss you now but I want it to be good and not when I’m kinda drunk, so can I just sleep in your room tonight instead?” She asked hopefully, longing to hold you.
“Please,” You nodded and stepped forward, hugging her for the first time in two months. “I missed you so much.”

DATING SEVENTEEN A⇴Z HEADCANON ⇴ Hansol Vernon Chwe
Tumblr media
A ⇴ AFFECTION
Vernon is a big fan of affection, he’s big on cuddles and loves to hold your hand at any opportunity that he can. Affection is a good distraction for him when he wants to focus on something else, often focusing on your hands instead.
B ⇴ BEFORE DATING
You’d met by sheer coincidence when you accidentally walked into the wrong room on your first day at Pledis. Luckily, Vernon was on hand to lead you back into the right direction, but not before he’d also slipped his number into your pocket, just in case you ended up getting lost again and needed him to help you out.
C ⇴ CONFESSION
Confessing to you left Vernon terrified for quite some time, for a while you’d sensed that something had been off with him whenever the two of you met up. You tried to push it to one side, but eventually, on one evening together, you just had to ask him what was going on. The plan that he did have to confess was thrown out of the window as he told you there and then what had been really going on in his mind.
D ⇴ DATES
Your dates are often spent watching movies, either at the dorm or the theatre. You know all too well how much Vernon loves franchises, and with that, the two of you have a lot of movie marathons. You’ll be bundled underneath your duvets all day with plenty of snacks in between you both whilst you watch whatever Vernon has usually chosen. Even if he’s watched the movies a thousand times before, he’ll never say no to watching it again, especially now he’s got you for company to join him too.
E ⇴ EXPERIENCE
The whole dating experience made Vernon very nervous, he was worried about putting his foot wrong or making a mistake. It took him a while to really feel comfortable around you and trust in himself too to do the right thing. He put a lot of thought into even the smallest things that he did, and even though there were times when he was easy going, he never wanted that to be mistaken as not caring. If anything, Vernon cared too much about making sure that his first relationship was as perfect as he hoped.
F ⇴ FIGHTING
Arguments between the two of you weren’t very common, these were the times when Vernon’s easy-going personality really came to the forefront. If you had a grumble or complaint, he’d listen and work on it, still with a smile on his face. It takes a tremendous lot for you to push his buttons to a point where he wants to argue with you. There are times when he feels like he has to bite his tongue, but he acknowledges that arguing is natural between couples, and that he’s far from perfect. Once you’ve told him what the problem is, he’ll never fail to fix it right away so the two of you can move on.
G ⇴ GETTING TO KNOW HIS FAMILY
You were welcomed very quickly into his family, especially by his sister. She loved having another girl around who could wind Vernon up which certainly helped with integrating you into the family. As happy as Vernon was to see the two of you getting along, he was still bitter that the two of you constantly teased him.
H ⇴ HOME
The two of you spent a lot of time in his room at the dorm, enjoying your own space. Vernon wasn’t huge on finding a place of your own just yet, but as soon as you’d begin to weigh up a few options about what you could do in the future, he’d definitely be open to starting to do a bit of house hunting with you.
I ⇴ “I LOVE YOU”
You were the first to say, ‘I love you,’ when Vernon returned from his first tour. You never imagined that home could become such a quite place, but not having him around really took you by surprise. As soon as you saw him, you just couldn’t help but blurt those three little words out before Vernon even had the chance to say, ‘I’m home!’
J ⇴ JEALOUSY
Being jealous wasn’t something that Vernon tended to experience, he trusted a lot in people, and most of all, in you. The biggest sign you’d normally get when something wasn’t quite right, would be his smile dropping. He would never say anything to anyone, but as soon as the two of you are alone and you ask him what’s going on, he’ll tell you, and you, only. It’s not something he likes in himself, and he tries hard to brush any situations that make him jealous aside like they’re nothing. But he’s human, and he knows there are times when jealousy can’t be helped.
K ⇴ KIDS
Starting a family was something Vernon often thought about when he was with you. Whenever the two of you began to talk about the future, his mind would naturally wonder to begin to think about children. It was a topic that he was very nervous to bring up around you, because if you started talking about children, Vernon wouldn’t be able to stop, he’d surprise you often by how well planned out his future was.
L ⇴ LAUGHTER
If there’s one person around you who can be guaranteed to always be wearing a smile, it’s Vernon. If you ever see him without a smile, then you know something’s wrong. He knows he’s cute too, and aegyo is definitely a good friend of his when he wants to try and put a smile on your face. He loves to joke around and make the most out of his time with you, and best of all, he loves ticklish. If Vernon is ever not smiling, your hands will be attacking his waist in an instant as you know it’s the best solution. He’ll try and fight you off, but he’ll be too lost in his laughter to even try and be able to put up just a bit of a fight.
M ⇴ MISSING
Being on the road is hard for him, whilst he’ll wear a smile around every single member of the crew and the team, his eyes will often tell a different story. There’ll be plenty of moments where he’ll end up drifting out of conversation because he finds himself thinking about you, and not paying attention to what he’s being told. Whilst the boys will never make him feel bad about missing you, they’ll often encourage him to go and ring you if he needs it. They know that he wants to protect the group when he misses you, but as with so many other things, he’s human, and he can’t keep up the smile forever, even if he wants too.
N ⇴ NICKNAMES
You’ll often shorten his name to ‘vern,’ when you want him, if he ever hears you call him ‘Vernon,’ then he’ll be pretty certain that he’s done something wrong. His full name is usually only ever used when you’re angry at him.
O ⇴ OBSESSION
He’s obsessed with your hands, his favourite time is when they’re drawing patterns around his body which he can focus on, to forget about the outside world.
P ⇴ PDA
Affection in public isn’t something that Vernon does often, he’ll often get incredibly shy, even if he’s just holding your hand. He’ll often find himself being put in articles with blushed cheeks because a pap has photographed a photo of the two of you, he just can’t help but getting incredibly flushed when he’s around you.
Q ⇴ QUESTIONS
He can be quite a deep thinker at times, so he’ll often ask you questions to get yourselves into pretty deep discussions. The topics are often very random, but Vernon loves unfolding them and exploring so much about them too.
R ⇴ RANDOM FACTS
Having family split between South Korea and America is hard for him, he barely ever has the time to visit them. Whenever he gets a break in his schedule, the two of you end up playing a game of rock, paper, scissors to decide which members of his family you’ll visit that time. He can never choose between the two sides, so he much prefers to leave it to fate to see where the two of you end up travelling to.
S ⇴ SEX
He’ll often get very shy during intimacy, the close proximity between the two of you will make his heart flutter uncontrollably. Vernon will love when he can feel your hands around his body, they’re always very warm and comforting to him. It’s often a very romantic time, Vernon puts a lot of thought into things, he’s not one for a quick fix, he likes to take his time and make sure that it’s always special for you.
T ⇴ TEXTS
Throughout the day you’ll often receive texts from Vernon just to see how you are. His mind will often wonder to you whenever he has a moment free, and so naturally, he’ll text you too to let you know you’re in his thoughts.
U ⇴ UNIVERSE
Even though everyone knows him as the cute member of the group, even the rest of the members have never seen Vernon as shy as he is when he’s around you. He just can’t help but get nervous whenever he’s around you.
V ⇴ VACATION
If there’s ever free time, then it will be spent visiting family. When the two of you aren’t visiting either side of his family, you’ll be visiting your own. Vernon makes sure to make time for your family too whenever he has free time, he wants you to see your loves ones just as much as he wants to go and see his own.
W ⇴ WHINING
Vernon isn’t someone that will whine, if he wants your attention then he’ll usually just go very quiet and not be able to meet your eye.
X ⇴ XXXXX
Just like his hugs, his kisses are very frequent too. Whenever he looks away from you because he’s getting shy, you’ll be right beside him, kissing against his red cheeks until he looks at you again. If he refuses, you’ll throw in a few tickles too until he’s kissing you back. Kisses from you are definitely a weakness for Vernon, no matter how shy, mad, unhappy, or moody he is, just a couple of kisses from you will do the trick and brighten the mood.
Y ⇴ YOU
You were his weakness; he was completely infatuated with you.
Z ⇴ ZZZ
Together you’d always fall asleep close together, he’d often be the big spoon as he liked to hold you against his chest and be the one to keep you safe. For you, falling asleep over his heart is always a comfort too.

Say Goodbye
"I'm not enough, I know, so let me go. It hurts to be half loved..."
Ryeji/ RyuRyeong
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"B-Babe, uhh, I have to go somewhere..."
"At this hour? Babe, its midnight..."
"My staffs can't do the j-job on their own... They need my help in revising the papers..."
"Ah, really? Should I drop you off?"
"No need, Ryuddaeng, I can manage... I'll be quick, I promise..."
I forced a tight smile as Yeji gave me a kiss on the forehead, before she grabbed her coat and car keys and hurriedly leaving our unit.
I'm not dumb to not notice the lie she just made. Oh, dear Yeji, you've always been a bad liar. I smiled bitterly as I stared at the red dot blinking on my phone, drifting away from my location and heading towards the same place she always goes to.
"Yeji... Why do you hold on to me?..."
I couldn't stop the tears flowing out of my eyes as I stared at where she was. Was she with that girl, Choi Jisu, again?
Did she think I wouldn't find out about her infidelity? Have she forgotten that I know her just like the back of my hand?
Always the same lie.
Always the same smile.
Always the same kiss.
Yet your eyes no longer held the love it had for me.
I stood up from my seat and grabbed my car keys, leaving the house to finally end this torture. I followed the same path she always took, and saw where her car was parked.
It was in front of a large mansion. The whole time, my mind was blank. I got off my car and walked towards the large gates, pressing the doorbell.
"Please reveal your identity."
"Ryujin. I'm here to see my wife, Hwang Yeji."
A hard 'beep' was all I heard. I stayed there for an hour, standing still without anything in mind. The only thing I felt was the pain in my heart, and it was suffocating.
"R-Ryu? W-What are you doing here? How'd you know where I was?"
"Where is she?"
"Huh? Who?"
"Choi Jisu, the girl you've been running to all this time."
I held on a smile as we talked, but tears continued to fall down from my eyes. Yeji got out of the house and slowly walked towards me, her eyes shaking and darting around.
"B-Babe, what a-are you talking about? Who's that—"
"Bullshit! Did you think I wouldn't know?!"
I can no longer have a control over my body as my patience run thin. Was she going to lie in front of my face again?
"B-Babe"
"Yeji, please, just tell me the truth..."
"..."
"Let's end this, Yeji."
"N-No, babe, please listen to me, you don't understand."
"Hah, what is there to understand?! You have another woman!"
"Look, I love you, and I can't see my life without you—"
"Then why?! Who is she in your life?!"
"I... I— She's someone I cherish too..."
"Fuck... Hwang Yeji, are your hearing yourself?!"
I stared at her eyes and saw her inner battles. But I know, deep down inside her, she no longer needs me. I am no longer the woman in her heart.
"Babe, please, let's talk things out."
"No. We have to end this."
"Ryu—"
"Just let me go, Yeji! Stop hurting me! Please... let me go first, because I can never do that until then... Push me away, Yeji. Please..."
I whimpered out with a blurry vision, as my tears kept on pouring. My heart felt so heavy. I've never been this broken before.
"Ryu, no, just—"
"Hwang Yeji! Can't you see? You no longer love me! Stop hurting me like this!"
"I-I'm sorry..."
I wiped my tears and walked away from her, getting inside my car. I could hear her shouting for my name, yet I ignored her.
This is for the best, Yeji. Live free from now on, you're no longer chained by my love.
I stepped on the gas pedal some more as the view of a cliff became much more clearer.
This is for the best.
"Hwang Yeji, I... Love you..."
And my whole life flashed right through my eyes.
• Part 1 ends...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
• Part 2 Starts...
"Doctor Shin! The patient is moving!"
I walked inside the room and saw the girl fluttering her eyes open, looking around with a confused look until her eyes landed on me.
"Where... Where am I?"
"Well, hello there, little one... Are you feeling okay?"
"My body hurts a little..."
"That's because, you got hurt. However, a hero came to save you!"
"H-Hero?"
"Yep, and she goes by the name 'Doctor Shin'."
"Doctor Shin, we finally found a lead of the kid's parents."
"Great, so are they on their way?"
"Yes, doc..."
I looked back at the kid after my conversation with the nurse, and saw her staring at me with twinkling eyes. How cute, she had cat-like eyes. I walked towards her bed and grabbed a chair to sit on.
"You're the hero who saved me?"
"That's right, I'm Doctor Shin. What's your name, kitten?"
"I'm Ji..."
"Well Ji, your family is on the way here, so don't worry okay?"
"Thank you, doctor Shin!"
I smiled and patted her head, standing up from my seat. Aigoo, what a cute kid. Just then, the door busted open and two people came in with a panicked look in their faces.
"Ji? Oh my gosh, baby, what happened to you?"
"Mom!"
It seems that the couple haven't notice my existence yet, so I watched as the kid conversed with her two mothers. One had feline eyes and the other had beautiful doll eyes. What a beautiful couple, no wonder the little girl looked good. Awwweeee, is that how Chaerry and I would look in the future?
"Doctor? Where's the doctor who saved yo—"
"Hey, I'm Doctor Shin, the attending doctor of Ji. She's already fine, a few scratches from the accident, but its nothing that a doctor can't heal."
"S-Shin Ryujin..."
I furrowed my eyebrows at how my full name rolled of her tongue. I stared at the cat-eyed lady, feeling a sense of familiarity washing over me. Do I know them?
"Excuse me, do I know you?"
"What... Y-You... You can't remember?"
"Honey— oops, I mean, Doctor Shin, the meeting is about to start."
Before anything could get more tense, my fiance arrived. I smiled at her and she instantly stood beside me, putting her arm on my waist. She's Lee Chaeryeong, and she's my fiancé.
"Is there something wrong, honey?"
"Oh, its just that, I think they know me, hon, but I can't remember them..."
"Ah, I'm sorry, my fiance got into an accident two years ago and after that, a part of her brain has shut off some of her memories. And because it was her brain's decision, there's no chance for her to regain her memory. Do you know her before? A friend, perhaps?"
"She's m—"
"Oh, we met her a few times before. But its fine, we're not that close before."
The doll-eyed lady smiled at me after she interrupted her wife's sentence, while the other lady gave me a look that I couldn't describe. But I ignored her indescribable stare.
"Ah, really? You got me worried, I thought you were very important people in my life before..."
I smiled at them, then checked the time on my watch. Shoot, the meeting's about to start for real.
"I would like to talk to you some more, but it seems that I have important matters to take care of. I'll see around, uhh..."
"I'm Jisu and this is my wife, Hwang Yeji."
"Alright, I'll see you around Mrs. Hwang... Come on, Honey, is Dad waiting?"
"Yeah, but you're not late tho..."
I gave the couple a warm smile for the last time, before Chaeryeong and I walked out of the room, hand in hand.
"Honey, those couple really looked familiar..."
"Maybe you really saw them often before, hon..."
"Maybe... I don't think they're that important to me tho..."
"Of course, I'm the most important one for you, right?"
I laughed at her cheesiness and pecked her lips. Gosh, I love her so much. I'm so lucky to have her in my life.
"I love you, Lee Chaeryeong..."
"I love you too, my soon-to-be Mrs. Lee Ryujin..."

Pairing: Bucky x Sarah Wilson
Summary: Sarah agrees to be Bucky’s plus one, but she’s not interested in being anything more than friends. Right?
Warnings: Fluff
Word Count: 1.1k
A/N: Remember when I said that I liked to imagine Sarah in that dress attending a gala with Bucky? Well, here we go. I hope you enjoy. Divider by the always amazing @firefly-graphics
Tumblr media
Objectively, he knows the suit looks good on him.
But in his mind's eye, he can't help but picture himself like Frankenstein's monster from that old comedy they watched for their most recent team movie night. Stuffed into a tuxedo and forced out onto a stage. Ungainly and stiff in clothes unbefitting the man within.
And in two minutes it's only going to get worse. Because as soon as he pushes his way into the ballroom, he's going to be ungainly, stiff, and completely out of place.
God, I hate this, he thinks. I’d rather be home with a book.
“Looking good, handsome,” a familiar voice sounds from behind him, and he smiles instinctively. Suddenly, he forgets all the reasons why he wanted to leave.
He pivots on his heel, and his heart nearly drops out of his chest.
Sarah stands before him, an appreciative smile stretched across her face as her eyes survey him slowly, starting at his feet and working their way up.
He would be embarrassed by her obvious appraisal. If his brain had the capacity for thinking about anything other than the sight before him.
Never before in his life has he ever fully comprehended what it meant for a woman to be stunning.
But now he knows.
Because she is stunning, and he is stunned. Shocked into silence, his brain barely functions.
And all because of her. Because she exists. Because she is here.
He wants to say something. Something fun and flirty and playful. Something to keep the mood light, to hide what he is now sure is his obvious infatuation.
But he can’t. All he can do is stare.
The dress she is wearing has no business being so breathtaking. It’s just a simple thing really. Barely more than a fitted white shift, with a ruffle at the shoulder. And yet, in Bucky’s mind, he thinks of goddesses, of queens.
Illogically, he wonders where a man might find a golden crown at this time of night.
She steps forward and something comes loose in him.
He finds his tongue at last.
"You look amazing." He breathes.
Her smile goes impossibly wider, and he swears to god that her eyes sparkle.
"Oh, I know." She lifts her chin. "But please, do go on."
A laugh sounds in the back of his throat and he relaxes into the familiarity of banter. He tilts his own head back, bringing his hand to his chin, as if in thought.
"Hmmm, how about, gorgeous? Dazzling? Awe-inspiring? And perhaps even, ravishing?" He draws out his “R” into a soft growl and she laughs.
"Oh you, you old flirt." She waves a hand at him in imitation of a bashfulness that she doesn’t feel.
He grins back and something hopeful flutters in his chest as she holds his gaze a moment longer without speaking.
Unconsciously, he tugs at his tie once more. Tracking the movement with her eyes, she steps in closer. He lets his hand fall away as she reaches up to pull lightly at the knot.
She only adjusts the tie a bare fraction of an inch and yet somehow, suddenly, the whole suit fits just right.
He doesn't know how she does it. Maybe it's magic. Maybe it's just her.
Because it's always that way with her. Just being near her helps to sooth his every itch and jitter. Which is ironic given that at least half the time those same itches and jitters are caused by her very own brother.
She smoothes the tie down with her hand and leans back just enough to look up at him. There's something soft in her gaze, the teasing look from before only a shadow now.
As he looks down at her, he swallows hard but tries to hide it. He has to remind himself that they're only friends. That she's here tonight as his friend. And that she's never once even hinted that she wants anything more.
She tilts her head to the side and her eyes narrow just a hair, thoughtfully.
But before he can make sense of it, the look is gone and her smile widens once again. She puts her hands on his shoulders and gently turns him around to face the ballroom door. He groans when he sees it. And she laughs as she steps beside him.
"Ready?"
"No," he juts out his bottom lip into a pout. "It's going to be awful. I've completely forgotten how to make small talk."
With a shake of her head, she counters, "It's going to be just fine. I'll give you the same advice I gave my friend Tara when she had to go to a big fundraiser like this: just smile and ask people if this is the first time they've been involved in charity work. These people love any excuse to talk about themselves and all their good deeds, especially their 'anonymous' donations. All you'll have to do is smile and nod. They'll do all the work."
"I don't know," he gives her a doubtful look.
"Trust me," she says as she places a hand on his arm. "You can do this."
His heart stutters. He turns his face away before she can see him blush and lets out a defeated huff.
"I guess, if I have to," he replies with an exaggerated whine.
She laughs again and slips her arm into the crook of his, angling them once again towards the doors.
She leans sideways into him, and he looks down surprised.
"I'll make a deal with you Bucky. Make it three hours, and I'll take you to this bakery I know and buy you a treat."
A sucker for sweets, he doesn't even have to think about it.
"Deal," he responds quickly, then pauses. "Wait, what kind of bakery stays open until midnight?"
"The best kind. And this one is a special place. I take all of my first dates there." She states matter-of-factly.
Bucky's eyes widen as he registers her words. There's something pointed about the way she doesn’t look at him, and something knowing about the crinkle of her eyes and the curve of her lips.
His heart beat kicks up and his cheeks warm once more as he struggles to stop his grin from turning too dopey.
"Is that so?" He asks in the smoothest and least affected voice he can manage.
He knows he failed to hide his complete lack of chill from the spark of laughter in her eye.
"It is. You know, you can tell a lot about a man from his taste in pastry."
"Oh, really?"
She hums and nods sagely.
"Gosh," he says. "I hope I choose well."
She turns her face up to him and smiles.
"Oh, I have a feeling that you will."

Somebody to You (Chapter 2/4)
Isobel was not even a little bit what Alex expected her to be. She flipped her hair as he’d imagined she would, and she had the same sneaky smirk that Michael did that made Alex’s heart ache, but as they strolled the museum halls, passing painting after sculpture after painting after ancient pieces of New Mexican history, her remarks were never teasing but genuine.
She seemed fascinated less with the actual artwork and more with what Alex thought of it himself. As if she hoped to unravel the mystery of him by knowing his opinion on the mundane.
“What about this one?” she pointed at a piece. “And that one? What about this?”
“Isobel,” Max panicked, “don’t touch that!”
Alex hid a smile. Max and Isobel had the relationship he’d always secretly wished he had with his brothers, despite their differences. Despite their father trying to get in between them and pin them against each other.
He should’ve been sad, should’ve felt left out as he usually did when Michael started flirting with a girl when they were hanging out; like everything was a reminder of how much he didn’t fit, but . . . Max kept looking for his reactions, and Isobel kept her arm hooked around his and glaring at anyone that gave the only gay kid a sideways glance, and both of them felt the need to fill Alex in on any inside joke they had.
By the end of the museum visit, Alex realized the entire trip had been listening to more of the Evans’ stories than knowing anything about the pieces they’d seen. It was nice, like being with Liz and Kyle, except one of them kept watching him, raising an inconspicuous brow whenever Alex pulled his phone out and the other kept giving him covert glances and smirking, like she knew something Alex didn’t.
Alex almost wanted to tell Isobel that he knew about Max’s feelings for him, as surprising and out of character as they were, but couldn’t bring himself to confess to them. They’d feel real, like he was humoring Max instead of the truth, which was pining and loving his brother and forever miserable at the strange distance Michael seemed to be taking with him now.
Too lost in his thoughts about Michael, Alex didn’t even realize that Max was holding a smoothie in his face until his nose hit the cold cup.
Alex blinked, startled, and Max smiled softly. “Sorry. Pineapple’s your favorite, right?”
“Yeah,” Alex said slowly, taking the cup. Isobel was holding something aggressively pink and Max’s own was a deep blue. “How’d you know?”
An unreadable expression crossed Max’s face for a split second, but it was gone so quickly that Alex was sure he must’ve imagined it.
“I asked Michael,” he said, gaging Alex’s reaction as he took a sip.
Alex had no idea how much it felt like he was suffocating until he had something cold and delicious trickle into his chest, like a window was open to his heart and he was able to breathe.
His eyes fluttered and he sighed, content. Max’s smile widened.
Alex pulled off the straw and looked down. He was used to being watched, but people’s interests usually quickly faded. Max, on the other hand, seemed to stare more and more.
He cleared his throat, swirling the yellow smoothie. He glanced at Isobel, to make sure was busy harassing the enamored girl behind the desk about her right to have more granola. “Can I ask you something?”
               “Me?” Max blinked. “Yeah!”
“Why now?” Alex asked. “I mean, we’ve been around each other since middle school.”
Max seemed to think about this a moment, then, “I guess I just never looked at you that way. I mean, you’re – you’re my brother’s best friend.”
               “But that hasn’t changed.”
“No,” he agreed. “But . . . Michael told me you play the piano.”
               “So?”
“So,” Max swallowed, “I didn’t know that. I never even imagined it. You have this whole emo thing going, but . . . it feels . . . like . . . there’s more to you, I guess?” He shut his eyes. “Which I know is so stupid to say because I don’t know you that well, but I – I want to. I want to . . . know the guy that looks like he could rule the Underworld and still plays beautiful music on his piano and who laughs around his friends and who’s always there for the people that need him. You’re just good, Alex.” He turned red and wouldn’t meet Alex’s eyes when he continued, “You’re – you’re cute and you’re good, and . . . I don’t know, that feels like the best kind of story.”
Alex stared until beads of ice water fell down the side of the cup and over his fingers. He blinked, and looked down. He should’ve been angry that some stranger would claim to know anything about him, but only Michael had ever been able to tell when Alex was angry about his father, and rebelling in everything from his clothes to his makeup to his words. When he found comfort in the dark aesthetic, but everyone else was uneased by it. Alex was scary and unapproachable. Only Michael had ever known of how weighed down he could be by others’ aversion to him, how much mattered to him. And now, it seemed, so did Max.
Alex swallowed thickly, running through the million things he would say. How’d you know? Don’t read my mind like that. How did you so easily say what Michael never seems to want to? In the end, however, he settled for, “Oh.”
               *
Watching Alex and Isobel together was . . . not unpleasant. Far from it, actually, Max found himself laughing when Isobel eagerly tugged Alex along every few blocks to gossip about who-knows-what, and Alex scrunched his nose every so often in a way that made Max’s heart flutter. It was either giggle a little breathlessly at his reactions or press his hand over his chest and question what his racing heart meant.
“What’s so funny?” Alex asked at one point.
Max blushed at the idea of confessing, but he figured it would help his case, so he murmured, “You’re kind of adorable,” and took a long gulp of his drink, refusing to look at Alex for his reaction.
They walked along the neighborhood for a long time. Isobel treated them each to a beer, and if Alex was annoyed by her at all, he definitely didn’t show it. In fact, he looked amused every time she spoke, and it made something in Max’s protective heart melt.
Stop it, he scolded. This is fake, this is all fake. Remember your mission.
When the time came for them to part ways, Max insisted on walking Alex to his house.
“Ooh, Max,” Isobel hooked her arm around Alex’s. “Such a gentleman! Ready to go, Alex?”
But Alex, Max now realized, had faltered.
“Erm,” he gently removed his arm from Isobel’s. He looked, for the first time that Max had ever seen him, nervous. “Th-That’s okay. I like walking by myself.”
Max shook his head. “Alex, it’s really late, I can just –”
“It’s fine, okay?” Alex said with some edge, walking backwards. “Seriously, I don’t need help.” Then, as an afterthought, he added, “Thanks though. I had a lot of fun. Really. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight,” Isobel murmured back, her brows pinched, and when she looked to Max, he saw the same confused concern on her face that he felt. He’d thought everything was going fine. He’d thought offering to take Alex home would be a good thing. Had he said something wrong?
When he and Isobel made it back into the house, they stopped in the corridor that separated their rooms. Isobel leaned her shoulder against her door a moment, and with a gentle smile, she said, “I like him.”
Max pursed his lips. The same words were on his tongue, but they felt wrong to say. Isobel didn’t know that all of it was an act, that he had only gone out with Alex to help get rid of his feelings for Michael. The softness of her blue eyes forbid Max from confessing to that truth.
So all he did was hum, mutter a goodnight, and open his door. When he stepped in, he found Michael on the edge of his bed, leaning his elbows on his knees, his hands interlocked tightly.
Finding Michael in his room at ungodly hours was no surprise, but Max rarely saw him so distressed, his jaw clenched, his eyes focused ahead as if he barely noticed his brother, his thumb carving into the back of his other hand, his foot tapping restlessly on the hardwood floors.
“Hey,” Max said warily, closing his door.
“How was the museum?” Michael said in lieu of a greeting.
Max understood, closing the door. “Good. Great, actually, you don’t have to worry.” He sat down next to Michael with a sigh. “Isobel came with, he had a lot of fun.”
Michael dropped his head into his hands, his fingers tugging at his curls. “Great,” he said hoarsely.
Max stared a long moment, and his shoulders slumped. “Michael, you got to stop this. Just talk to Alex –”
“Stop it, Max,” he ground out.
Max shook his head. “What happened? I thought Saturdays were for you and Alex, why’d he call me?”
“I . . .” he growled and stood, kicking a dresser. Max said nothing as his brother paced the length of his room.
“It’s okay,” he finally said. “He couldn’t hate you, no matter what you –”
“You didn’t see his face,” he said. “I said – I can’t believe I . . . but it had to be done. I had to . . . he wouldn’t have called you otherwise.”
Max swallowed. He didn’t know why, but the idea that Alex wouldn’t have called him if Michael hadn’t pushed him to do it upset him more than it should.
“R-Right,” he said and cleared his throat. “Look, would you just sit down please?”
Michael sat down with a  huff, his foot still tapping. Max gripped his knee firmly. “Hey,” he said. “I can tell you what he did.”
Michael nodded, eyes wide and afraid. “O-Okay. Yeah, okay.”
So Max told him everything, from the moment Alex had come over, to Isobel inviting herself along, to the museum trip, to the smoothies they had, to the beers. When he told Michael about offering to walk Alex home and Alex’s reaction, Michael didn’t look the least bit surprised. If anything, he looked angry all over again.
“Asshole,” he grumbled, rubbing his face with one hand.
“Hey,” Max said heatedly, “I tried to –”
“Not you,” Michael rolled his eyes. “Alex’s dad. Jesse Manes.” He sighed. “If he gets even a feeling that Alex might be dating a guy, he . . .” he shook his head. “It doesn’t matter.”
“It does,” Max said, remembering the fear in Alex’s eyes when he had offered to walk him back. “Michael, he was freaked out –”
“I know,” Michael cut him off firmly. “Just . . . let it go, Max. There’s nothing you can do. Just don’t let his dad see you together. No matter what. Alex will be the one paying for it.”
Max swallowed, thinking. He had rarely seen Jesse Manes around town, knowing only that everyone admired him for his military service. Max had never had an opinion other than the fact that Jesse had seemed too cold to approach, but he was nothing like Alex.
With Alex he saw a warm light. With Jesse, there was none.
Nonetheless, he just nodded until Michael stopped looking worried about it, and brought in another pillow and blanket for his brother to sleep in his room.
When he laid there in bed, he pulled his phone out, scrolling mindlessly for fifteen minutes before he convinced himself that pulling Alex’s number was a good idea. He didn’t think he wanted to or should call, but . . .
Get home okay? he texted, and regretted it the second it sent.
“Shit,” he whispered, his eyes falling shut. Michael was asleep against the wall, snoring away. Max tapped the edge of the phone when he got no response, then shut it off, leaving it on his nightstand and not at all expecting a response. Then –
               Ting!
Max swallowed and grabbed his phone.
Safe and sound, Alex’s message read.
He bit his lower lip, hesitated, then typed out, Good. Sweet dreams.
Now that was the one he regretted. Sweet dreams? He groaned, turning his face into the pillow and tossing the phone aside.
He stared at it from where it sat on the carpet, not expecting an answer, or maybe for Alex to make fun of him or tease him for it. Then the screen lit up and he almost fell off the bed.
               You, too, Max.
It was stupid. It was so, unbelievably stupid, but a smile tugged at Max’s lips and a chuckle escaped before he even realized it had formed. He could almost hear Alex’s voice, soft and amused, saying his name. What if he thought Max was cute? Or kind? Or unique? What if he was just humoring Max’s ridiculousness? It didn’t matter. He hadn’t laughed at him, he hadn’t ignored him. It made Max smile.
“You really are good,” he murmured into the night. Michael slept on.
               *
As soon as he woke up, Michael half-groggily reached for his phone, expecting to find texts and pictures that Alex had taken on their Saturday together. Just before he opened his screen to a single text and picture from Isobel, he remembered that he and Alex hadn’t actually spent any time yesterday with each other.
Michael deflated entirely, his phone in front of his face as he thoughtlessly clicked on the message. He sat up at once. It was a picture of Isobel taking a selfie with a begrudging Alex on her arm, laughing in that cute way he did when his nose was scrunched and his eyes narrowed.
He swallowed. This was supposed to be him and Alex yesterday. But what really caught his eyes was Max in the corner. He wasn’t looking at the camera, but at Alex, and the look in his eyes . . . the way he smiled . . .
Michael had never seen that before. He looked at Max, still sleeping soundly, and thought about this plan to bring his best friend and brother together.
His thumb tapped the edge of his phone. He wasn’t bringing them together. He was just diverting Alex’s affections for a second. And then Max would go after Liz, the person he actually wanted, and all of this would be over.
Max doesn’t have a crush on Alex, he told his half-asleep mind, trying to calm himself down as he stepped out of bed. He doesn’t.
Then for no reason at all, Michael typed out a text to Alex, asking him to meet in the park nearby. Max murmured something in his sleep, and Michael snapped out of his thoughts. He pressed the heels of his palms into his eyes. What was he doing? He was so close now. He couldn’t stop this.
So he fixed his text. He asked Alex to meet both him and Max. Alex took an entire half hour to answer, and Michael knew he was an early riser, so he tried not to feel panicked that his best friend might be too angry to respond, and when the text came that Alex would need twenty minutes to get there, some relief settled in Michael’s chest and he went to wake Max.
“Huh?” Max sat up, alert, his eyes still closed. “What – what’s happening?”
“Get up,” Michael said with a heaviness and unwillingness he forced himself to push aside. “We’re going to see Alex.”
               *
Alex swung back and forth on the swing, his phone clutched tightly in his hand, waiting for any other word from Michael. He was convincing himself that he was excited to see him, but the memory of his words yesterday had gone from the back of his mind to the forefront, and he couldn’t help but still feel hurt that he’d been dismissed so easily.
“I’m just trying to have a little fun here. Am I supposed to turn down a hot girl for you?”
Alex’s fingers gripped the swing’s chains tightly, his eyes burning. Like Alex was some nuisance, a second thought. He’d never imagined those words leaving Michael’s lips. He’d never imagined Michael, of all people, making him feel so . . . unwanted.
Then, before he could help it, his thoughts wandered to Max. Max, who had hurried him away from the large mansion only because he was terrified his sister would scare him away. Who had been eager to get Alex’s opinion on every painting, sculpture, and relic, and actually listened when he spoke. He’d never been able to speak to strangers so easily, but sometimes it was hard to remember that that was what Max was supposed to be. It was just so easy to talk to him . . . and so easy to forget the bad things around him . . .
Alex shook himself of those thoughts. What was wrong with him? Max was just a cuddly teddy bear, someone who had helped out once when Michael was too busy. No matter what he said or confessed to, he’d get bored and tired of the chase soon enough. He’d get bored and tired of Alex, just like everyone else did.
When he looked up, he saw Michael first, and started to stand. Then he saw Max, and his shoulders fell.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” he murmured, and heaved a sigh as he sat back down. He wasn’t going to just run back into Michael’s arms when his schedule allowed him to remember they were supposed to be best friends. Ruining the only day they might’ve had alone was the final straw.
“Hey,” Michael smiled wide, and Alex’s heart started to flutter. It made him want to cry. It was so unfair, especially when he knew that Michael used that smile on every pretty girl he saw. Until yesterday, Alex had believed he was different.
Alex ignored Michael’s greeting and glanced at Max instead, who was sleepily rubbing his eyes. Alex faltered. Had Max gotten out of bed just to see him? The thought made him soften. It wasn’t fair, after all, to blame Max for Michael’s behavior.
“Hi, Max,” he said, and Max blinked, clearly surprised at being spoken to.
He put his hands in his pockets and cleared his throat. “Uh – hey, Alex.” Another glance at Michael. “Y-You look nice.”
Maybe Max was waiting for Michael to approve of this compliment, to tell him how smooth he was being with his crush, but Michael’s eyes were focused on Alex, his expression solemn.
Max seemed to sense the tension because he exhaled slowly and pointed at the swing next to Alex’s. “That swing taken?”
Alex couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at the corner of his lips, no matter how brief, and he shook his head. Max took the swing and swung back and forth as if nobody else was there.
“Come on, Alex,” Michael murmured, kneeling in front of him. “If this is about yesterday –”
“If it’s about yesterday?” Alex scoffed humorlessly. “Who are you, and what have you done with my best friend?”
Michael looked hurt. “That – that’s not fair.”
“No?” Alex shook his head. “Saturdays are supposed to be ours, Guerin, and you treated me like some brat you had to put up with!”
“I didn’t –” Michael’s mouth opened and closed on several sentences, seemingly appalled at the idea. “Alex, I just –”
In a voice too quiet for Max to hear, Alex said, “You invited Maria. Was that just to hurt me?”
               His eyes widened. “No!”
“Did I –” Alex faltered. “Did I do something to piss you off, or –”
“Alex!” Michael couldn’t seem to believe that Alex would go down that road.
Alex clenched his jaw. “Well, what was I supposed to think? I can’t believe you would even talk to her again after what she did to me! I –” he broke off with a shaky sigh, looking away from Michael and Max to keep them from seeing the tears fill his eyes. “I thought you were my friend.”
“Don’t say that,” Michael said hoarsely, taking Alex’s hand in his. Alex hated the shivers it sent down his body. “Look, I’m sorry, okay? I – I just knew that it hurt losing a friend like that, and I thought that it would make you feel better if – if I could fix it –”
“The only person in the world I care about losing is you,” Alex argued, and Michael said nothing for a moment. Alex realized his mistake at once, and he looked down, his face heated. “I thought I was losing you yesterday. I thought you’d . . . forgiven her for what she’d done. Like my feelings didn’t matter as much as a pretty girl.”
A moment of silence. Even the creaking of Max’s swing had stopped. Then Michael tugged on his hand.
“No one . . .” Michael started and abruptly cut himself off. Alex looked back at him to see his expression was conflicted. Before Alex could ask what was wrong, what had been wrong with him lately, Michael forced a smile to his lips. It was a play at his usual light one without any of the lightness.
“You know the fair’s going on until next week,” he said. “Why don’t – uh – why don’t we go together? Tomorrow? Just you and me?”
Alex should’ve been thrilled at the idea, but something . . . something was off. Michael looked like he was more miserable at asking for it, and Max was looking at them strangely solemn.
Realization dawned. Michael was hesitant to go out with Alex alone when he knew his brother had feelings for him. Alex glanced at Max again. He would’ve preferred to be on his own with Michael, but the idea of going with Max didn’t seem so bad either.
He internally sighed. “Max,” he turned to him, “why don’t you come with us?”
Max raised a brow. Michael stopped pretending to smile and his brows furrowed. Alex didn’t understand. Wasn’t this what he’d wanted?
Then Max smiled, and Alex’s attention was caught. “Yeah? You really want me to come?”
Warmth bloomed in Alex’s chest, and something like a breath of relief escaped his lips, his first real breath since he’d gotten Michael’s text to meet. Maybe Max would get tired of the chase, but . . . better to get the inevitable over with sooner than later, right?
“I mean, if you want to,” Alex played at a shrug. Max chuckled and looked down.
He nodded. “Yeah, yes, I do.”
Alex realized he and Max were just staring at each other. He blushed and looked back at Michael, expecting to see him overjoyed. But his smile was tighter than ever.
“Great,” Michael said. “That’s just . . . perfect. Exactly what I was hoping for.”
               *
“Okay,” Max plopped down on the bed, feeling filled up on lunch and something else he’d been feeling since Alex had invited him along with them to the fair tomorrow. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” Michael sniffed roughly, replacing his jacket with another one of his own that he’d left in Max’s closet. “It’s all going according to plan, right?”
“Yeah,” Max nodded, “so why do you look like you’re two seconds away from clocking me?”
“What?” Michael looked over his shoulder with pursed lips, without actually looking at Max. “I’m not. It’s great, right? He invited you all by himself.”
Max smiled to himself at the thought. “Yeah,” he said, his voice soft to his own ears.
Michael finally met Max’s eyes for a long while, studying his expression. Then he turned, smiling with narrowed eyes. “Are you . . . you’re not . . .?”
Max raised a brow, waiting for his brother to elaborate.
“You’re not . . . starting to actually like Alex, are you?”
Max’s eyes widened and he scoffed. He started to say that he absolutely wasn’t when he caught himself. He thought of Alex’s kind eyes and his laugh and the hurt in his voice when Michael ignored him. He thought Alex had had enough people dismissing him behind his back.
“Of course I like him,” he said. “He’s nice, you know? There’s nothing wrong with him.”
“Yeah,” Michael said with a nod, as if reassuring himself. “Yeah, I mean . . . you like him like you like Kyle, right?”
Max hesitated. “Michael . . . do you like Alex?”
“I love Alex,” he said at once. “Just not like that.”
No, Max silently agreed. Not like that. Michael’s feelings seemed more . . . possessive, though he didn’t want to talk about things he wasn’t sure of. All he knew was that Michael wanted Alex to himself. He didn’t know how to tell him that that wouldn’t work with the plan.
“I’m sure he just brought me along because he felt bad for me,” Max placated, though the idea made him want to curl up on his bed. “You know, you did bring me along for no reason.”
“No,” Michael said with that same forced lightness, turning back to his clothes. “No, this is good. Like I said, it’s great! Alex is starting to want you along. The plan is working perfectly.”
“Yeah,” Max muttered, noticing the way Michael roughly tugged his sleeves down. “Perfectly.”
               *
“This is a bad idea,” Kyle said as soon as Alex had called to tell him his plans for tonight. “I think you’re forgiving him way too easily.”
Alex’s phone sat on speaker on his nightstand. He sighed, fixing his hair so that it looked less like he’d walked through a hurricane, but the strands remained windswept and messy and he gave up.
“He made a mistake,” Alex said for what felt like the millionth time. “Everyone makes mistakes.”
“Not that kind of mistake!” Kyle argued, his frustration evident. “Alex, he invited Maria!” Alex flinched at the name and was glad his friend couldn’t see him. “That’s like if I invited Jared!”
“Jared Wilson is a homophobic ass,” Alex argued at once, and calmed the edge in his voice. “It’s not the same thing.”
“Both of them made life a lot harder for you when they realized you were gay.”
To that, Alex had no response. He didn’t care. He loved Michael, and being angry with him felt wrong. He didn’t want it.
He sat on his bed’s edge and played with the buttons on his black cardigan. It was new, something he wanted to wait to wear until he and Michael were alone, because Michael always liked hugging Alex as they walked and clinging to his side, and Alex had wanted Michael to feel soft and warm when he hugged him. It should bother him that he did so much of what he did with the worry of how Michael will take it, even though they’re not dating and could probably never date, but every so often, that traitorous bit of hope would claw its way to the surface and tell him that it could still happen.
Maybe all it took was Michael knowing how he felt. It didn’t matter. Alex could never do it.
“I don’t want to lose him,” he said quietly. Kyle didn’t answer. Alex half-wished that he hadn’t heard him, but he doubted it.
Finally, Kyle sighed and said, “I know.” A pause, then, “What about Max?”
               Alex blinked. “Max?”
“Yeah,” he said. “Seems like he really likes you.”
Alex wanted to scoff, but what left his lips instead was, “Yeah?” Kyle chuckled and Alex blushed. “N-Not that I care! I just don’t want to get his hopes up for nothing.”
He hummed. Alex hated how he could hear the amusement in his voice. “Okay, well,” he said, “don’t count him out just yet.”
Alex was about to retort when a door suddenly slammed outside his bedroom. He heard the heavy footsteps of hunting boots and swallowed thickly. He tried to keep his light voice as he turned off his speaker and held the phone up, “Hey, I-I’ll see you at school, okay?”
“Uh –” Kyle was clearly thrown off by the sudden change in conversation. “Sure, but are you –”
Before he could finish his question, Alex hung up and put his phone aside. Then he caught himself in the mirror. His eyeliner. He was already wearing it.
               “Fuck,” he breathed.
His heart hammered in his throat as the footsteps stopped outside his room and the door swung open. His father stood there.
“Did I hear you talking to a boy?” he demanded.
“N-No,” Alex said at once, cursing his stammering. “I mean, yes, but it was just Kyle.”
Jesse hummed. Alex’s heart sunk into his stomach when Jesse closed the door behind him and stayed inside.
“Dad,” he started, “really, I was just –”
“Come here,” Jesse said with a wave of his fingers. When Alex didn’t move, Jesse fixed his son with his cold blue eyes. “Alex, come here.”
Alex swallowed and resisted the urge to cower away. If his father hated disobedience, he hated a coward more. So Alex marched up to him swiftly as he was trained to do, his shoulders straight despite his lowered eyes, and the second he was close enough, Jesse grabbed his face in one hand, his grip painful.
“What is that,” he said coldly, “on your eyes?”
Alex clenched his jaw, trying not to whimper even as his dad’s hand nearly broke his jaw. Even as he knew what was coming. Not for the first time, as his fingers trembled on his dad’s wrist, he wished Michael could be here to protect him.
               *
Max was in Alex’s class, and it was rare that a Manes was late, but Alex didn’t show up until halfway through the first lecture. He had a black sweater on with a collar that hid most of his chin and long sleeves that fell past his fingers, despite the fairly warm weather. His arms were stiff at his side, and his eyeliner was smudged a little bit.
The math teacher said nothing to his most brilliant student about being late, and just gestured at him to take a seat. Max lifted his head off his desk and tried to catch Alex’s eyes, but Alex was staring straight ahead.
Liz turned around in her seat, her brows furrowed. Max didn’t hear her murmurs, but whatever she said, Alex merely nodded once in response, his smile small. Liz didn’t look reassured, and Max realized he was inching out of his seat.
“Yes, Mr. Evans?” the teacher said.
“Uh – nothing, sir,” Max said and sat back down. “Sorry.”
Some of the other students snickered, but Max didn’t care, because at least Liz was looking at him. He swallowed and pointed at Alex, the silent message clear. Liz nudged Alex’s arm softly and gestured with her chin at Max. Alex looked over.
Max didn’t know what to do but raise his hand in a little wave. Alex just looked away again, his shoulders scrunched as he almost folded in on himself. He looked out the window and didn’t seem to pay attention to another word of the lecture.
Max tried to catch Alex in the hall in between classes, to ask him if he was all right, but Alex just shrunk away from him.
               “I’m fine,” he muttered.
“Alex, wait a second,” Max tried, instinctively reaching for his wrist.
He’d barely touched him when Alex flinched away. “Don’t do that!” he snapped, making the entire hallway of students stop and turn to stare. Alex looked furious and terrified all at once. “Don’t ever, ever grab me!”
Max stood frozen with his hand outstretched, stunned, and the hall filled with a heavy, tense silence. Alex didn’t seem to care. He kept glaring at Max a moment longer, his breathing quick like he was on the verge of crying, and he whipped around to where a startled and concerned Liz was ready to guide him away.
Murmurs broke out over the crowd, and Max heard more than a few people call Alex a number of things, all ranging from “freak” to “psycho,” before they came to check that Max was okay after that outburst. Max could only be offended.
Alex was clearly suffering with something, didn’t anyone notice or care?
When Max got to lunch, Isobel was already standing. She looked as she rarely did; her bright smile gone, replaced with a solemn frown. “Hey,” she tugged Max down as soon as she caught sight of him. “What happened with Alex in the hallway? Rosa said he suddenly started screaming at you?”
Max shook his head. “Something’s wrong with him,” he said.
Isobel’s frown deepened. “Hey, don’t say that, you don’t know what could be –”
“No,” Max cut her off, indignant that she could assume he meant the worst. “I mean, something’s wrong with him, like something must’ve happened. He’s usually a lot nicer. And he showed up late. He never shows up late.”
Isobel rubbed her jaw as she looked over at Alex’s table where both Liz and Kyle were encouraging him to eat something, the concern evident on their faces.
“I mean, it’s not exactly new, right?” she muttered. “He’s freaked out like this before.”
Max pursed his lips. Alex had seemed so excited yesterday when Michael had asked him to the fair. What could’ve happened from then till now? Had Michael done something? No, he would’ve warned Max.
Then he remembered something Michael had told him about Jesse Manes . . .
               His shoulders fell. “Shit.”
Isobel seemed to realize he’d figured it out, and eagerly asked, “What? What is it?”
Max hesitated. “You can’t tell anyone. I mean, not even the Ortechos. No one, Isobel.”
“My lips are sealed,” she quickly promised.
Max licked his lips. “Well, remember how nervous he was when I offered to walk him home the other night?”
               “Yeah?”
“Michael told me about his dad,” he said. “Apparently, he really, really doesn’t want his son to be gay.”
Isobel’s eyes widened with horror. “Alex is scared of his dad?”
“He’s wearing long sleeves, and he’s sweating through it,” Max said darkly by way of saying what he didn’t want to outright.
Isobel gasped. “You think he . . . hits him?”
Max shook his head, not wanting to believe that Alex had that kind of father, but . . . “I’ve never heard Michael so unnerved by someone outside of his foster parents.”
“Oh my god,” Isobel whispered, her wide, glassy eyes turning to Alex who was sitting slumped in his chair as if allowing himself a few seconds to stop pretending he was fine. “Oh my god,” she started to stand, to go over to him, but Max grabbed her arm and sat her back down.
“Don’t,” he warned. “Michael didn’t want to tell me, and I doubt Alex wants anyone to know.”
“He’s beating him!” Isobel whisper-yelled through grit teeth. “We – we have to tell somebody!”
“Not if Alex doesn’t want us to,” Max argued.
               “Max!”
“He has brothers,” Max said, and Isobel fell silent. “The last thing Alex needs right now is for the only family he has to hate him because they think he told on their dad. Not if Alex doesn’t want us to.”
Isobel clenched her jaw, her eyes miserable, and she nodded. It was clearly the last thing she wanted to do.
“I don’t know how you can bear it,” she breathed, looking over to Alex like she wanted nothing more than to hug and protect him. “He’s so sweet, I don’t know how you can bear it.”
Isobel, of course, couldn’t see Max’s clenched, trembling fists beneath the table as he watched Alex start to eat despite himself, start to smile like he was so used to the beatings that he’d learned to work past them after a while, wondering the exact same thing.
Technically, Michael’s official house was an airstream at the junkyard where old man Sanders had let him stay while he had a part time job after school. Max wished Alex hadn’t known the whole story because then at least, as they went together to the auto shop, Max would have something to say instead of wallowing in the awkward silence between them.
In fact, awkward wasn’t really the right word. Heavy seemed more appropriate.
The weather was cooling quickly, making it more bearable for Alex’s sweater. Max half-wondered what Alex would do if he reached down and looked for his fingers underneath the sleeves.
“I’m sorry,” Alex mumbled, and Max snapped out of his thoughts. Alex had said nothing on the drive over, nodding quietly in thanks when Max had offered to drive him as they were both going together, but his eyes were on the ground now.
He looked so shy for once that Max was caught off guard.
               “Huh?”
               “For yelling at you,” he went on, even more quiet. “I didn’t mean to . . . I just don’t like . . .”
“Being grabbed,” Max finished. He stopped, and Alex did the same. “Alex, I would never hurt you, okay? I wouldn’t.”
Alex wouldn’t look at Max, but Max could see his breathing getting quicker, his jaw clenching tighter and tighter.
               “What did Michael tell you?”
Max tried to school his features. “Nothing.”
He was sure Alex would snap at him, would turn right around and cut off his friendship with both him and Michael. Instead, he scoffed wearily. “You’re just as bad a liar as he is.”
Raising his chin and pretending that it didn’t cause him pain to fix the bag on his shoulder, Alex forged on ahead. “I don’t need anyone’s pity.”
Max followed in silence, but only for a minute. “My mom knows someone in the state council, I could talk to her –”
Alex whipped around, his eyes wide and terrified. “Don’t! You can’t, Max, please, don’t ever –”
“Okay!” Max took Alex’s hands to calm him. He was rambling, his fingers shaking. “Okay, I – I won’t, Alex, calm down.” When Alex had been reduced to a trembling figure, Max pulled him in gently against him. “I won’t tell, I promise. Just calm down, okay? Please, calm down.”
Max’s chin was on Alex’s head. He had a hand in Alex’s hair – it was so much softer than he could’ve imagined – his other hand running up and down his back, trying not to scare him again with any sudden movements.
“It’s just me,” Alex croaked out against Max’s chest. “It’s only me. Because I’m . . .” He shook his head. “He doesn’t hurt them. They – they don’t care about enlisting. They’re happy to do it. I don’t want to ruin their lives, please –”
“Okay,” Max whispered into Alex’s hair. He smelled like vanilla. “Okay, Alex, it’s okay. I won’t tell, I promise. I promise.”
They stood there like that for a long time, Max’s fingers raking through Alex’s hair, taking in the way each strand felt against his fingers. He felt the strong muscles of Alex’s back even through his sweater. He couldn’t help it. Everything about Alex was a mystery, and the more he uncovered, the more he wanted to know.
A breath escaped his lips, and Alex tensed. He stepped back, unwilling to look at Max, his face tinged pink.
               “S-Sorry,” he murmured.
Max nodded, putting his hands in his back pockets to keep from reaching out for him again. “Me, too. It’s – uh . . . been a long couple of days.”
Alex sighed, rubbing his face with one hand. Max resisted the urge to ask how bad the pain was underneath the sweater, but if he was being honest, he didn’t think either of them wanted the answer to that question. So he nudged his head towards Michael’s trailer, and waited for Alex to lead the way.
“What’s your favorite fair treat?” Max asked before they could get to the door. He didn’t know why, but he wanted just a few more seconds before Michael joined them.
               “What?”
“Fair treat,” he repeated. “You know, they sell a lot of snacks at fairs. They’ll be selling a lot tonight. Which one do you like best?”
“Uh . . .” Alex thought about it. “Cotton candy? I guess? The, you know, big swirls?”
“Okay,” Max nodded, grinning. “Then I’ll buy you the biggest swirl they have.”
Alex’s eyes widened and he turned pinker. It was so cute that Max had to giggle.
               “I have my own money.”
“So?” Max shrugged. “I want to get you something. I thought about winning you a prize during one of the games, but that feels a little cliché, you know?”
Alex opened and closed his mouth on several sentences, and Max wondered if Michael had ever offered to buy him anything with the promise that it meant something more.
Alex looked away with a shake of his head. “You’re silly,” he muttered, and opened the door, climbing inside.
Max followed, still grinning. They found Michael dressed and looking for the keys to his truck.
“Hey!” Alex said a little breathlessly. “You ready to go?”
Michael froze, looking over his shoulder. Max’s smile fell at once. Oh no . . .
“Crap,” he said, sounding genuinely apologetic. “Crap, we said we were going to the fair tonight!”
Another act, Max thought. “Michael,” he said quietly, a private warning, “today really isn’t the day to –”
“I don’t get it,” Alex cut him off, his brows furrowed. “If you – if you forgot about the fair tonight, then why’re you in such a hurry to leave?”
Michael shrugged, glanced at Max, and said, “I have a date.”
               Alex was silent a moment. “You . . . have a date.”
               “Yeah.”
“But –” Alex shook his head. “The fair was your idea. Why’d you ask me to come with you if you knew you were going to be busy?”
“I didn’t know when I asked you,” Michael said, and Alex stared. Despite his hidden fingers, Max did not miss the way they curled to fists.
“So you –” Alex cut himself off abruptly, smiling incredulously, like he couldn’t believe his other half had stooped so low. “You made plans with someone else when you already had plans with me?”
“Alex,” he huffed, exasperated. “Are you gonna get like this every time I’m meeting someone? A very attractive friend asked me out tonight, I said yes.”
“But you’re my friend, too,” Alex argued. “When we make promises to each other, we’re supposed to follow through on them, it shouldn’t matter if you have a ton of friends or not.”
“Well, it’s not my fault you don’t have any friends, Alex.”
“Michael!” Max stepped forward, but Alex held a hand up. He didn’t look tense or frozen to the spot. He looked like every horrible thought that had ever crossed his mind about his friendship with Michael, every doubt that had ever haunted him, every fear of being unwanted or not good enough, it was all coming true.
To Alex, Michael didn’t consider him worth anything.
To Alex, Michael wasn’t protecting their friendship. He was shattering it beyond repair.
He looked resigned and exhausted. Michael seemed to realize that too late.
               “W-Wait,” he tried, “I didn’t – I didn’t mean –”
“You’re my friend,” Alex quietly defended. “You’re . . . you’re my . . .” He shook his head, like it didn’t matter anymore. He turned to Max. “D-Do you – uh – do you still want to come with me? To the – the fair?”
He was clearly terrified, clearly unwilling to go at all if Michael didn’t want to, but wanting to prove that he was unhurt. That he wouldn’t break. Max was in awe of his courage.
“I was just going to ask you the same thing,” Max said.
A brief, barely-there smile tugged at Alex’s lips before it was gone. Without another word or glance at Michael, he left. Michael stared at the open door like he wasn’t even in the room, like he was numb and out of body. He’d gone too far this time.
Max shook his head. “You were so terrified that he was in love with you . . . that you decided to make him hate you instead.”
“I told you,” Michael said hoarsely, his eyes filling with tears. “He’ll only hate me for a little bit.”
“And you’re willing to bet on that?” Max tilted his head. He promised Alex he wouldn’t tell anyone else what his father had done to him, but he leaned in anyway and said, “Because if I were you, I would think a little harder instead about why he’s wearing such a long sweater near the end of spring.”
And with those final words, Max turned and left, catching only the realization in Michael’s eyes before he shut the door behind him. Alex was already in the car, hugging his arms and staring out the window.
Max got in and shut the door. He exhaled slowly, “Alex –”
“Just drive,” Alex said hoarsely, like he’d been crying for hours though his eyes were dry. “Please just drive.”
Max swallowed and turned on the ignition. He didn’t want to be a hero here. He didn’t feel like one. The only reason Michael had hurt Alex this badly at all was so that he could swoop in. But this seemed like too high a cost.
It didn’t matter in the end. Max did as Alex wanted, and drove.
The fairy lights were already strung up when Max and Alex got to the fair, plenty of booths already up with lanterns lighting the way, showering everything in gold. It looked more like a market with a few chances for the kids to win toys, but Max watched as Alex eyed each booth and necklace and dress like they were the only good parts of a bad memory.
“My mom used to bring us here a lot,” he said, “back when she was around.”
“When did she die?” Max asked quietly.
“She didn’t,” Alex said simply. “She left. But this fair . . . it’s my favorite time of the year. Michael knew that.”
“Alex,” Max shook his head. “I’m sure . . . I’m sure he had a reason for what he did.”
Alex scoffed, but the press of his lips was both sad and sincere. “I know he did. But god, what could be worth all this?” he gestured at his own face, the exhaustion and misery there. “I can usually read him, but this time I just . . . can’t. I hate not knowing.”
Max thought about that, and realized he was the same way when it had to do with someone he loved. How was he going to save someone who didn’t want to be saved?
“Tell me something you do know,” he offered. “You said your brothers are happy to enlist. Does your dad make them all?”
“No,” Alex sniffled. “No, dad would never make any of us enlist. He pushes it hard, and all the time, but . . . no, if you don’t want to enlist, then just don’t bother coming back home, you know?”
Max hesitated. “Have you ever . . .?”
He expected Alex to laugh it off or be indignant about anyone even considering that he would ever enlist, but he only sighed and confessed, “Sometimes.”
               Max stared. “S-Seriously?”
Alex shook his head, smiling, and for once, he didn’t look sarcastic or amused. He just looked sad. “You don’t know what it’s like there. Or how bad it gets, and – and sometimes I think . . . I couldn’t afford a place of my own. I could escape him though. I could rise in ranks, I could beat him –”
“Beat him some other way!” Max argued, and a few heads turned to look. Alex didn’t look like he cared, he never did, but Max stepped closer. “You can’t enlist, Alex.”
Alex looked away. “I said I thought about it, okay? Only when things get really, really bad. It doesn’t mean I’ll do it. I’ll find some other way.”
He didn’t sound sure, but Max couldn’t have been more sure of his abilities and talent. Alex was the strongest and smartest person he knew, he could easily make it out there. And what if . . . what if he had Max there with him? Supporting him? Helping him? The two of them together in a small apartment in New York or something –
Max shut his eyes. He wasn’t supposed to think like that. This wasn’t supposed to be long-term. Soon enough, Michael would tell him the truth, and it would all be over. Alex might even hate him for it. He didn’t want to think about that though, so he bought Alex the biggest blue cotton candy swirl, got one for himself, and laughed with Alex about the sizes.
About an hour in, Alex seemed to really be having a lot of fun. He was laughing at Max’s stupid jokes and tugging on his arm to show him little ceramic toys for sale and even a small aquamarine necklace that glittered in the moonlight with a gold chain so thin it was almost a silk thread.
When Alex wasn’t looking, Max bought the necklace, and snuck up behind him, letting it rest in the dip of his collarbone.
               “W-What –”
               “For you,” Max said.
Alex touched the stone, still stunned. “Max, I’m not – I’m uncomfortable accepting so many gifts from people.”
“I’m not just people though,” Max said simply. “I’m your . . .” he caught himself, “f-friend.”
Alex looked at him. Max may have been wrong, but he could’ve sworn Alex had seemed disappointed for a moment at the use of the word friend.
“R-Right,” he murmured. “Still, no more gifts, okay?”
“No promises,” Max grinned, and his heart jumped when Alex’s face turned that same shade of pink. He was starting to wonder if he could turn it any darker when Alex glanced up and froze.
               “Oh my god,” he breathed.
“What?” Max followed his gaze, and understood what it was that had terrified him. Making their way towards them was some man in uniform, and beside him was Jesse Manes, hands folded behind his back with his medals shining on his uniform jacket, smiling at booths and laughing with children who ran past.
That, Max realized, was the most frightening part. Who would believe Alex if he told them their beloved sergeant was a monster?
Alex stepped back, already trembling. He turned, but the crowd had gathered around them. Even if he stood in the shadows outside the lanterns’ light, he was still visible to anyone passing by, especially if his dad was looking through the booths. He would see Alex here, and just the implication that he was here with Max would get him hurt again.
Alex hugged himself. “Think, Alex,” he whispered to himself, looking around frantically for a hiding spot. “Think.”
Max looked back at Jesse. He was getting closer. He couldn’t stand seeing the usually intimidating Alex so frightened now. He had to protect him.
He took Alex’s hand in his own and pulled him into the shadows, up against a booth. “Is your dad uncomfortable with PDA?”
               “What?”
               “Is he?”
“Uh – yeah!” Alex shook his head, confused. “He hates it –”
“Good,” Max breathed, taking Alex’s face in his hands, and before Alex could ask what he was doing, Max closed the distance between them and covered Alex’s mouth with his own. Alex stood frozen against him, but Max wouldn’t pull away, his body blocking Alex’s from sight.
Half of him was silently urging Alex to play along, if only long enough to get his father’s attention away, but as Alex whimpered softly against his lips, his body melting against Max’s, his hands coming up to Max’s chest, clutching his shirt, Max suddenly forgot all about Jesse Manes.
He forgot about the fair, he forgot about the booths around him, the crowd of people. He couldn’t think of anything but how soft Alex’s lips were, how perfectly he fit in Max’s arms. Max wanted to taste more of him, so he slipped his tongue in. Alex moaned, pressing unbearably close, and Max could feel him. His toned chest, his flat stomach.
Max had never wanted to feel another man’s chest until this moment, to claw down his stomach, to feel the muscles of his back. Max tilted his head, bringing his hand around the nape of Alex’s neck and reaching his fingers through his hair, tugging a little on the strands.
Alex’s hands came up to Max’s face, one hand reaching into his hair. Max wanted to tilt his head, to deepen the kiss, to put his hands up Alex’s shirt and feel his skin. He wondered if it was as sexy as the rest of him – he knew it had to be – and his hand had just fallen to Alex’s hip, tugging at the hem of his sweater, when he heard someone behind him scoff –
“Ugh, disgusting,” a voice said, and Max snapped out of his thoughts.
He pulled away, pressing his forehead to Alex’s, the both of them panting heavily. Alex’s eyes were closed, and Max took the opportunity to trace his deeply red cheeks with the tips of his fingers, his rosy, kiss-swollen lips.
               “Wow,” he breathed.
“Yeah,” Alex swallowed and opened his eyes. They fluttered again as Max traced his thumb across his lips for the second time. “That – that was –”
               “Wow,” Max finished.
Alex huffed a breathless chuckle. “Are you okay?”
               Max shook his head. “Wow.”
Alex started to laugh, but seemed to remember they were supposed to be hiding. He covered his mouth with his hand, his eyes wide. Max wanted to hear his laugh, so he looked over his shoulder for any sign of Alex’s dad, but he was so far down the path that by the time Max had tilted his chin up to get a better look, Jesse Manes and his friend were completely gone.
When he nodded to Alex, Alex’s grin widened and he laughed happily into the night. He jumped into Max’s arms, his own wrapped around Max’s shoulders.
“Thank you!” Alex said into his shoulder, his voice muffled and filling Max’s chest with butterflies. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” He heaved a deep sigh, probably the deepest he’d had in a while. “Thank you, Max.”
Max wrapped his arms around Alex’s waist, keeping him close and steady against him. In the back of his mind, he could hear Michael’s one, big warning about Alex.
               “Don’t kiss him.”
But now, in this moment, as he could still feel Alex’s soft, warm lips against his own, as he could hear his moans and smell his sweet scent, he couldn’t remember why.
He smiled into the crook of Alex’s neck and said, “You’re welcome, Manes.”
It’s finally here! Please please please comment and reblog/share if you enjoyed reading even a little bit, it always makes the world of a difference 💗 I’m going to bed.

For as long as Y/N could remember, her dream was to go to Cosmetology school to learn how to professionally do make-up. Her mother always told stories of how Y/N just couldn’t stay out of her make-up when she was a baby. Unfortunately, her mother told those stories to everyone who would give her the time-of-day to tell the said stories. No matter how embarrassing the stories and the pictures that came along with the stories were, they helped Y/N realize what she wanted to do with her life after high school.
When the day came that her mother had yet again pulled out the photo album loaded with the embarrassing photos to show Y/N’s now (much more) serious boyfriend Steve Harrington, she had decided to finally take the plunge and apply for the Cosmetology school a thirty-minute commute away. It was in the city, sure, but it was very prestigious and close enough for her to still live at home if she managed to get accepted. Steve was the ever-loving boyfriend through the entire application process, offering to help hold the light so she could take the required photos of her make-up skills (that she had used her mother as a model for) to send with her application. But his support didn’t end there.
“I am sure your acceptance letter is on its way right now, stop pacing and come sit down,” Steve tried to calm his pacing girlfriend down as she just about wore a path in the carpet in front of the door. “Come on, Sunshine, I bet your legs are exhausted from all that walking back and forth.” He spoke as he patted the couch cushion beside him.
She stopped her pacing, looking up at him as she wrung her hands together. “I’m too nervous to sit,” She shook her head, resuming her pacing. Steve remained silent, simply looking at her. He knew her, he knew that in any given moment she would rush over to the couch and worry from sitting down. Sure enough, with a final over-dramatic one-eighty whirl, she scampered to the couch. Sitting on her knees, she completely faced Steve with her eyes wide. “Why do you think it’s taking so long? It should have arrived by now, shouldn’t it have? Maybe they are trying to figure out the best way to let me down? That’s probably why it’s taking so long! They are trying to tell me that I suck without making me want to run through a wall-”
“Y/N, darling. You know how the postal service is in Hawkins, it’s complete shit! It’s probably sitting in a mailbag attached to some mailman taking yet another forty-minute coffee break and talking about everyone behind their back with the other mailmen that should be working.” Steve rambled, resting one of his hands on hers, shifting to prop one leg up and face her. His elbow propped up on the back of the couch, resting the side of his head against his closed fist.
“Yeah, you’re probably right,” She sighed, slumping back slightly as she relaxed. Steve once again watched her, knowing that her mind was still racing and that it wouldn’t stop until she held that letter in her hand. She suddenly stiffened up again, sitting up straight as her eyes nearly bugged out of her head. Steve wasn’t startled by the sudden action, only blinking and trying to hold back his smile. She was too cute in his eyes. “That doesn’t mean they don’t think I suck though.”
“They don’t think you suck,” Steve reassured her gently. “And if they do, they are clearly blind since you are the best damn make-up artist ever. Seriously, I am always amazed. You work wonders.” He praised her, boosting her confidence. She smiled at him, her body finally relaxing to the point where Steve knew that she would be relaxed for at least a few minutes. That was until she spotted the mail carrier walking towards the mailbox from the window.
“He’s here!” She jumped out, this time scaring Steve out of his mind, He jumped in his spot, his hand flying up to his chest in an attempt to calm his wildly beating heart. Taking deep breaths, Steve stood from the couch.
“Give the man a chance to get to the mailbox before you trample him.” Steve told her, watching the man lazily shift through the disorganized mail. Y/N surprisingly listened to him, dancing around on her tiptoes to try and peer out one of the three triangle-shaped windows at the top of her door.
“Is he gone yet,” She asked, rolling back down to her flat feet, unable to see out the windows. Steve shook his head, stretching his arms and legs as he watched the man add envelopes to the mailbox one by one. “God,” She let out a dramatic groan, slumping her shoulders over. “What is taking him so damn long?”
“By the looks of things, he decided to skip the part where he pre-sort the mail,” Steve observed. “There, he’s done-” He didn’t even get to finish his statement before she yanked the door open and took off down the driveway, not even caring that she was running into the crisp air of late August in her thin socks. “You could have at least put shoes on!” He called after her, standing in the open door.
“I got it! I got it! It’s here!” She ignored him, smashing the mailbox door closed before racing back up the driveway, nearly bowling Steve over to get back into the house. Steve kicked the door closed, following her back into the living room. She threw the other mail on the coffee table, not caring about the assortment of bills and junk mail. Steve settled back on the couch, his knee bouncing as he waited impatiently for her to open the letter she inspected with awe.
“Well, come on, don’t leave a guy hanging here,” Steve spoke up after he watched her flip the envelope for the second time. “Open it and see if you got in!”
She followed his instructions, using the letter opener she had placed on the coffee table weeks ago to tear along the fold of the envelope. Her nerves were overridden with impatience as she pulled the tri-folded paper out. The empty envelope fluttered to the carpeted floor by her feet, but she paid it no mind, too busy unfolding the letter. “I got in!” She screamed, turning to Steve, her eyes wide and her mouth dropped in shock.
“You got in!” He yelled back, shooting up from the couch once again, his arms open wide, his eyes just as bright and excited as Y/N’s.
“I got in!” She repeated, stepping onto the coffee table before launching herself into Steve’s arms, her legs wrapping around his waist. The force of her body flinging towards him knocked him off balance enough to send him falling back to the couch. His head lulled to rest on the back of the couch, his eyes set on the excited girl still clinging to him, the corner of the letter digging into the back of his neck little, but he didn’t mind.
“I told you that you would!” He reminded her. She pulled her head from his neck, peering down at him with sparkling eyes, he assumed it was from the excitement of getting into her dream school, but he didn’t know it was because of all the love she felt for him.
“You did, didn’t you?” She asked, a soft smile tugging at her lips. She was beyond thankful that she had managed to find someone that believed in her even when she didn’t believe in herself.
“Just to prove how proud I am of you, I will gladly loan my face to you for practice anytime,” He suggested, tapping her nose. She scrunched it up, pulling away from his finger. “All you have to do is ask.”
____
Steve did mean his words with his whole heart, but when a few weeks passed without her taking him up, he had thought she didn’t want to. It wasn’t until two weeks before she started school that he was proven wrong. “Steve!” She called in a sing-song voice, skipping through the house in search of her boyfriend. Her shopping bag swung by her side as she skipped through her living room into her room. Instantly, she spotted Steve laying on her bed on his back, tossing a slinky back and forth, giggling lightly to himself at the noise it made.
“What’s up, Sunshine,” He asked, not taking his eyes off the metal slinky, still pushing it back and forth. She hopped onto the bed, causing her and him to bounce. Dropping the bag between him and the slinky, she obscured his view as she practically vibrated with excitement. He oohed at the bag, not seeing the label on the other side of it. “Did you go to the naughty store to get me a present?”
She scoffed as he sat up, moving to dive his hands into the bag, thinking that was exactly what she had done. “You wish,” She commented, flipping the bag around so that he could see the store logo. He pouted in disappointment when he realized that it wasn’t from the dirty store. “I had to go get some supplies for school because they want us to get used to these specific products before the first day.”
“Okay?” Steve questioned, looking into the bag. He saw a bunch of make-up products that he wouldn’t even try to figure out what they were. Y/N had tried to explain the different things, but he just could not get the hang of it.
“Well, I can’t possibly get used to them without a model,” She pointed out, snatching the bag back from him. “You told me that I could use your face, all I had to do was as and this is me asking.” She bounced on her knees, her hands pressing against Steve’s side to shake him lightly.
“I did say that and I always stay true to my word,” He agreed, smiling as she clapped happily, cheering. She scrambled off the bed and over to her desk. “But I am really disappointed you didn’t go to the dirty store.” He added in, standing from her bed and plopping himself in her vanity chair, the slinky still in his hand. She plucked the slinky out of his hand, tossing it to the bed before resuming to unpack her make-up.
“If you behave, maybe we can go together tomorrow.” She bargained, clipping his hair back from his face. He nodded eagerly, making her laugh as she reached behind her for some primer.
“Make sure you match to my skin tone,” He reminded her his eyes fluttering closed as she started to apply the primer. It was almost like he could see the look she gave him when he added a quick ‘just making sure’ behind it. Shaking her head, she set to work on the base of his face.
____
“I am surprised that you’ve sat still enough for this long.” Y/N voiced her amazement, her eyes zeroed in on his eyelids as she swept the pigmented pink eyeshadow over it, carefully putting it in the right spot. Steve scoffed, trying his best not to move too much.
“You have no faith in me.” He muttered sarcastically. He was even surprised that he had sat for this long without getting antsy. Maybe it was because she had let him rest his hands on her waist as she worked, maybe it was just that he wanted to help her in any way he could, but it was probably the promise of going to the dirty store that kept him so still. Either way, they were both utterly shocked.
“Not true, I have lots of faith in you,” She corrected, moving to the next eyelid to cover that in pink. “I leave you alone with faith that you won’t burn my house down,” She pointed out, her eyes nearly crossing from how hard she was focusing. “I also leave you alone with my brother with faith that you won’t kill him, though both times he could have been killed, you were almost killed instead so-”
“Yeah, but was Dustin in danger?” He perked an eyebrow in question. She gave him a look.
“Last time I checked, trying to not be killed by Demo-dogs, Billy Hargrove, Russians, and a Giant Flesh Spider is classified as dangerous. So yes.” She pressed her lips together, twisting around to grab another eyeshadow brush, collecting some pigmented blue eyeshadow on it.
  “But he didn’t die.”
“True,” She started, brushing some blue in the outer corner and crease expertly. “But you almost died instead, so I don’t think that pleads your case.” She jumped to the next eye, trying to get it the exact same as the other one. She leaned back, inspecting the blue powder on both, adding more to the second one.
“What’s the third colour you want?” She asked, unable to pick the next colour for his eyes.
“Purple.” He blurted out, not even sure that the other two colours were.
“Purple it is then,” She shrugged, plucking yet another brush off the table beside her, coating the end with purple eyeshadow, placing it in the inner corner gently. Steve scrunched his nose up as it tickled lightly. “Sorry,” She whispered, too focused on trying to perfect it. “You know, I didn’t think these three colours would look good together for an eyeshadow look, but I am pleasantly surprised,” She spoke as she started the other eye. “Once I blend it, it’ll look better too.”
“Remember, make me look good,” His warm breath fanned over her wrist as she put the final stroke of eyeshadow on. Grabbing yet another brush to blend the eyeshadow. “Dear God, how many brushes do you need?” He questioned, feeling the new brush swirling over his eyelids, making them flutter.
“A lot, now keep your eyes closed or you’re gonna mess it up,” She exclaimed, moving to the next eye. Steve remained silent, fighting to keep his eyelids closed. “Now, lipstick, mascara then I am done! You want pink or red? Pink might look better with your eye make-up.” She trailed off, looking at the two tubes of lipstick.
“Pink.” He chose, his eyes staying closed.
“You can open your eyes now, you Doofus,” She giggled, uncapping the lipstick and twisting it up. The creamy lipstick smeared onto his lips easily, taking no time at all. “Now, you need to keep your eyes open for this or it’ll mess this all up, okay?” She instructed, putting on the lipstick and grabbing the tube of mascara. Steve nodded, watching her intently. He visibly gulped when she pulled the wand out and brought it to his eye.
“Woah, woah, woah,” He panicked, leaning away from it in fear. “What the hell are you going to do with that?” He pointed to the black-coated wand. Y/N glanced down at it, shrugging as if it was nothing to be scared of.
“Put it on your eyelashes,” She told him, looking back at him. Her hand gripped the back of his head, keeping it in place as she brought the wand closer. “Stop being such a baby, it’s not going to hurt! I do this to myself all the time!” She struggled to keep his head in place, finally touching the wand to his already luscious lashes.
Just as she went to do his other eye, her door burst open to reveal Dustin standing there. The couple jumped, snapping their heads to look, the wand still raised in the air, and Y/N’s hand still on the back of Steve’s head. Dustin looked between Y/N and Steve, his eyes stitching together in question. “Did I just walk into some weird sex thing,” Dustin posed the question before squeezing his eyes closed and frantically shaking his head. “You know what, don’t answer that please?” He pleaded, opening his eyes to look at the couple again.
“It’s not a sex thing, it’s a make-up thing. Steve offered me his face to work on,” She clarified, turning Steve’s head back to face her. Whisking the wand on his eyelashes, she spoke to Dustin. “What do you need Dustin?”
“I honestly can’t remember now that I walked in on this.” He gestured to the scene in front of him, trying to hold in his laughter as he looked at Steve all made up.
“Stop laughing!” Steve cried in protest, his eyes tearing up slightly as Y/N fanned his eyes to make the mascara dry, her other hand placing the now capped mascara on her vanity. Dustin couldn’t help but let out a barking laugh at the comment.
  “Yeah, stop laughing Dustin.”
“I’m sorry, but do you really expect me not to laugh at Steve with make-up on?”
“Yes, because A, make up doesn’t have a gender, and B, I think a man who is in touch with his faminine side is very sexy - so do a lot of girls, you should take notes from Steve for when Suzie finally comes to meet us.” She listed unclipping Steve’s hair from his face.
“Yeah, Twerp.” Steve stuck his tongue out at the teen.
“Real mature, Harrington, real mature,” Dustin narrowed his eyes at Steve. “I am ordering a pizza and I expect you guys to pay since you’ll end up eating most of it.” With that, he turned on his heel, marching down the hall. Y/N huffed out as he left the door wide open.
“You know what it is,” Y/N turned to look at Steve, pointing to the open door that Dustin was just standing in. “This attitude is all because his teeth are starting to grow in.” They both hummed at this, agreeing.
“Can I take this off now?” Steve asked, interrupting Y/N as she worked to put everything away. Looking behind her, she saw the glammed-up Steve blinking back at her. Furrowing her eyebrows, she put her brushes back in the spray-painted mason jar she kept them in, slipping her new eyeshadow pallet in the drawer with the rest of her make-up.
“Why, don’t you like it?” She asked, worried that he didn’t like the idea of having make-up on (which would be fine). Steve shook his head frantically.
“No, no! I do like it, I love it even, but, uh,” His nose twitched weirdly, making her eyebrows furrow even more. “It’s just my nose is itchy and I don’t want to ruin it, also, I am weirdly warm right now,” He gushed, his face scrunching up as he tried to survive the itch on his nose. “I have no idea how you guys wear this all the damn time, honestly.” He muttered in awe.
Y/N laughed, tossing him the package of make-up wipes. “Here you go.” She chuckled, sitting down on her bed, sliding a magazine off her nightstand table to read.
“I look damn good though, I almost don’t want to take it off, but I can’t take this itch anymore!” He exclaimed, scrubbing at his face with a wipe. Y/N peeked over her magazine at him, watching as he leaned close to the mirror, working hard to rid his face of the perfectly applied make-up. Glancing at the clock, she hummed, a smirk on her face.
“Hey, Steve,” She sat her magazine on the bed beside her. Steve hummed, working on the eye make-up just like he had watched Y/N do countless times before. She bit her lip, trying to stop the sneaky smile stretching onto her face. “As a thank you for doing this for me, I think I should give you something in return,” She paused, scooting to the foot of her bed. “How about we go to the dirty store today instead of tomorrow? We’ve got the house to ourselves after Dustin goes over to Mike’s for an overnight campaign.” She said with a suggestive tone.
Steve snapped his head to looked at her so fast, she was sure he’d be feeling the whiplash soon. “Really?” He asked with wide, excited eyes, a multitude of colours smudged around the from the eyeshadow, mascara, and eyeliner. She nodded, giggling at his excitement.
“Really! The store doesn’t close until nine and it’s five now, so hurry up, we can go after we drop Dustin off.” Steve started madly.
“Hey, Dustin, how about we give you money for pizza and drop you off early at Mike’s,” Steve yelled, still scrubbing at his face. “I guess he was right, this was a weird sex thing.” He commented, dropping the used wipe in the garbage by her vanity.
“It wasn’t a weird sex thing!” She defended weakly.

Request: Hii! Could you do a angst/fluff with Kuvira where r is like from an important family and they meet when they're young but then r joins the avatar? Finish how you'd like! Thank youu
Thank you to depressed-bi-bitch for the request, this was a lot of fun writing!
When Suyin was creating Zaofu, she knew she needed a dependable supply of metal. The valley, where eventually Zaofu would be erected, was a small mining village. It had an abundance of precious metals, but were predominantly used in trade with neighboring villages. There, Suyin met your family, the esteemed owners of one of the largest mines of the village. Suyin was eloquent with her ideas and clear passion for leading people. Her husband, Baatar, had already made a name for himself as an architect from Ba Sing Se. Meanwhile your family was one of the established families of the village, producing most of the metals and negotiating with outsiders trade deals. Together, your family and the Beifongs created Zaofu, a technological city of the future.
Growing up in a sprawling metal city was like living in a story tale. Big spiraling metal structures, an abundance of art and culture blooming all around you, and spending most of your childhood with the Beifong family were your earliest memories. You were surprised one day, while playing with Opal in the Beifong estate, to find Suyin bringing in another child. The girl seemed older than both you and Opal and she had a firm pout on her lips. Her clothes were more plain compared to what usual Zaofu citizens wore and she wouldn’t make eye contact with anyone.
“This is Kuvira. She’ll be living with us and be part of our family now, Opal. Think of her like your sister,” she introduced.
From being the adored only daughter to having to share with another little girl was not easy for Opal to adjust. Including sharing you, her childhood best friend.
“I don’t want a new sister!”
The way Kuvira’s face was already apprehensive, turned into a scowl quickly as she looked between the two of you before running off.
While Suyin sat down with Opal and tried to explain Kuvira’s situation, you went off to find Kuvira. She was sitting down under a low hanging awning by the river. You could hear small sniffles coming from her. Six year old you approached her without caution, bumbling up to her with the perkiness only a child could contain.
“Hi.” You introduced yourself to her with a wide toothy grin and a welcoming outstretched hand. She jumped and turned around, quickly wiping away a stray tear. Her deadpan glare penetrated your outstretched hand left open. Being a child, you didn’t let it affect you. Instead you asked, “Do you want to come to my house? I have a dollhouse we can play with!”
Kuvira hesitated, looking from your still extended hand to your beaming face.
“Opal doesn’t like me.”
“Opal’s not coming.”
Oh to grow up with Kuvira. She was quite hot tempered as a child. And you admit, some days it was hard being her friend. She let her emotions take control, most of the time not realizing that she was bending until the dolls were disfigured under her metal grip. You never blamed it on Kuvira though, and you always came back to each other at the end of the day. It took a long time under Suyin’s guidance for Kuvira to gain a better understanding of her own earthbending. But once she did, it was like a flip switched.
While gaining more control, she became more reserved. She pulled farther from the Beifongs and moved out of the estate, choosing to live with the guards in the dormitories instead when she became a teenager. It didn’t change your close relationship though. From running around your estate playing games to her joining you in your metals lab in your research to helping her study for her test to join the Metal Guards; you and Kuvira supported one another through everything.
In the back of your mind you always knew things weren’t great for Kuvira at the Beifongs. But it was always something so hard to bring up to Kuvira whenever you tried to get her to talk about it. It also complicated your friendship with Opal, navigating between their polar personalities was always a challenge. So you opted not to, instead playing mostly neutral grounds and after she moved out, things did get better.
As you got older, there was more pressure on you to take on the family business. Your whole life you’ve studied metals and how different properties of metals work together to create new things. An inventor, truly gifted, but there were always parts of you that wanted to leave Zaofu.
“I don’t want to study rocks my whole life. I want to learn from other cultures, get a bigger insight!” you confessed one day to Kuvira. You lay back on the soft grass of the lawn. You were visiting the Beifongs casually one afternoon when you ran into your favorite guard. It took minimal convincing for her to take a break from duty to lie with you. It was known that Kuvira always had a soft spot for you. It took one big smile to get her to crumble to you.
But seeing you smile was something she could never get enough of. “You wouldn’t leave me here alone, would you?” Kuvira semi joked.
“I’d take you with me, of course,” you laughed. “See the world together. Maybe fight some bad guys, who knows?”
Kuvira knew that would never be possible. Not with how Suyin ran things, but she didn’t say that, choosing instead to have a lighter hearted moment with you.
Going through the ranks, she saw potential in the Metal Guards, in the people of Zaofu actually. The fact that Suyin rejected most international requests, slowly infuriated her over the years. She watched as her fellow soldiers grew in strength, but all of it went to waste within the metal domes. Kuvira had long surpassed everything Suyin taught her, choosing to go off in her own studies to continue growing as a bender. When not on duty, you’d find her studying different types of bending in the Zaofu library or coming to your lab to practice with rarer metals. Sometimes it seemed like Kuvira never stopped at bettering herself.
You were mesmerized every time you saw Kuvira use her bending. Something as simple as making casual shapes from a slab of meteorite could keep you entertained for hours. It was times like these that were your favorite. She had her armor off and was sporting a long green sleeved spandex shirt with her dark green uniform pants. Her braid was slightly disfigured and helmet thrown off to the side somewhere. She was playing with a piece of meteorite, leaning forward on the bench as she manipulated it with firm concentration. The way her hands moved delicately through the air with precision; every crook and bend of her fingers and knuckles; how soft yet also strong they looked as they bent the metal into a small flower. It rested perfectly in her slender palm as she handed it to you.
It made your stomach flutter and a heat build in your chest. You reached out to take it from her and suddenly feeling nervous. Almost immediately, a gust of wind blew Kuvira over the bench making her tumble down and the metal flower scattering somewhere on the ground.
You both were left gaping. You were born as a non bender, so suddenly being able to airbend made you freak out. Kuvira grabbed your wrists, telling you to breathe as you started rambling off about never being able to bend before and not being the daughter of Avatar Aang and what if your mother had secretly had an affair with the AVATAR and oh god what would your father think-
“We need to find Suyin.”
Learning that Opal also gained airbending made you feel better, and it was something you two could bond over. Suddenly you were spending more time with Opal, trying to learn more about this new weird power to Kuvira’s dismay.
When Avatar Korra and her crew came to Zaofu to rebuild the Air Nation, you laughed off the idea of becoming an Air Nomad. Your future was set in the metals your family mined. You were supposed to live your life in Zaofu, continue your legacy here to grow the city.
“This is where I belong,” you said sheepishly. Korra seemed disappointed, but if that’s what you wanted there was nothing she could do. Although she did debate dragging you on to the ship, kidnapping an heiress to an empire would definitely cause an international crisis that Korra frankly couldn’t afford.
Kuvira was relieved to say the least. The fear of losing her closest friend didn’t sit well with her. But she also saw how you were with your new bending, carefully exploring what your bending could do; how it frustrated you when you couldn’t gain your own footing straight or when wind would blow back in your face.
“Maybe you should consider it.” Kuvira’s response surprised you. It was another day at your estate this time laying on the grass. It was one of Kuvira’s few days off. When she became the Captain, her free time became very limited, but this afternoon was a peaceful rarity. Tonight would be Opal’s farewell dinner, where you would be saying your final goodbyes before she boarded the airship to the Northern Air Temple. You were casually bending a circle of air above your heads, watching as leaves swirl around in a hypnotizing way. It immediately dissipates upon Kuvira’s confession, leaves slowly falling around the two of you.
“What?” you snort. “I thought you’d be the first person to ask me to stay.”
It left a lump in Kuvira’s throat. She never wanted to be the reason you held back your potential. She knew how talented you were as an inventor, but to bring that strength as an airbender? And the opportunity for you to build a nation that was up until recently deemed extinct? Kuvira knows an honor like that is something you’d thrive in, and the only way you could do that is to leave Zaofu.
So with some more convincing from Kuvira, you came around to the thought of being an Air Nomad. Sure shaving your head wasn’t the most appealing thing, but to be able to explore the world outside of Zaofu? It felt like this was your true calling all along. And Kuvira was the one to help you realize that. You gaze softly at her face, trying to find any hint of doubt you could. But she wholeheartedly believed in you and that in the end is what had you knocking on Korra’s door before the big dinner.
“Avatar Korra, I’ve changed my mind. I will join Opal to the Northern Air Temple and help rebuild the Air Nation.” Korra’s face broke into a wide grin and she gave a big cheer, deeming another success in her Avatar duties. You smiled back, feeling giddy at the thought of finding something more than rocks and metals for your future.
Seeing you and Opal boarding the aircraft shattered Kuvira’s heart. Her face is stone and her back is straight, watching the two of you talk wildly about your new adventures to come.
It seemed like at the last second, you pulled away from Opal and turned around, catching Kuvira’s unwavering gaze. You bite your bottom lip and tell Opal to go on without you, that’d you catch up momentarily. She was confused, but realized what you were doing when you ran back down the ramp and towards Kuvira.
Before she knows what’s happening or can ask what in the spirits you were doing, you nearly plow Kuvira over with a bone crushing hug, knocking her helmet right off her head. Burying your face into the crook of her neck, you feel her muscles tense under your touch, and then melt right into your hug. Strong arms wrap around you and clunky armor gets in the way.
But Kuvira can’t picture something more perfect.
She is speechless and squeezes her eyes shut, willing any tears to hold back. This was a momentous day for you, and she didn’t want your potentially last moment with her to be a sniveling mess. Instead she tries to memorize the way your hair smells, how firm your torso feels under her arms, how soft and warm your skin is. Everything she possibly can in these fleeting seconds with you.
“This isn’t goodbye,” you whispered in her ear. The way your breath fanned across her neck made Kuvira’s eyes flutter. She could stay in this embrace forever. “I will see you again.”
“I know,” she breathed out, suddenly finding it hard to find her voice. “I know.” It was something she had to tell herself more than to you.
You hesitated, wanting to say more. But how could you tell Kuvira that most nights you fell asleep thinking about what her lips would feel like against yours? How could you tell her that you still dreamed of traveling the world with her one day? How do you tell your childhood best friend that you’ve been in love with them when you’re about to board a ship to a new life?
Instead you take the chance and lean in, placing a soft quick kiss on her cheek just below her mole under her eye. With one last watery smile, you turn and board the ship. Your future terrified you, but you know for certain that you will keep your promise and return to Zaofu for her. One day.
If you had turned around you would’ve seen Kuvira steeled in stoicism, seemingly unaffected by your gesture. Meanwhile, inside she was on fire. Her cheek was burning where your lips touched. She had to replay the moment again and again in her mind to make sure it wasn’t her own imagination making it up. But it was real; the feeling of your hesitant lips pressed against her cheek made the flush in her chest grow. Her breath comes out in one shaky stream as she lifts the radio to her ear for the guards to close the domes.
And as the metal flower-like structure enclose her in, Kuvira can’t help but let her eyes linger on the sky where your ship disappeared.
This isn’t goodbye.

You call the hospital, pleading with them to give you information if he’s ok. But all you hear is a loud click. This is the only time that Nathan’s fame bothers you. It makes you sick to think that people want to know if he’s ok for their gossip mags. You feel guilt, and that gnawing raw feeling deep in your gut that only he gave you.
For the next few weeks, you keep tabs on him. Your wedding is in less than a month, and you’ve spent more time stalking the internet for info on your ex than you have with your own wedding. But all the work is being done for you. Jack seems to be more involved in it than you.
All you can think about is Nathan. You suppose that’s a bad thing, right before your wedding. But you want to know he’s alright. He could have died thinking you hate him. And while you did for some time, you don’t anymore. If you’re being totally honest you kind of hated him even when you were together. He drove you insane sometimes, but you miss that.
As soon as you get the word Nathan has been sent home, you call your cousin up.
“Aren’t you getting married in a week?”
Yes, yes you are. But you need to see him. You tell her that you need to get a way for just a day or two, that the stress of the wedding is too much. She agrees to let you come up, and you plan to fly back to the states together.
It’s been so long since you got lost and showed up soaking wet at Nathan’s door. This time, you dress for the occasion. Your best little black dress. Sleek heels. You do your hair, makeup, and wear the perfume that used to drive him wild. You’re not entirely sure why you do this, but deep down you know. You just won’t admit it. You want him to admit he fucked up. You want him to want you back.
So, when you knock on his door, you yourself feel a little thrill. But the nerves hit. You haven’t spoken to him in at least two years, and neither of you got closure from the situation. You’re about to reopen a wound that’s barely healed.
Or maybe not – he’s not answering the door.
You start to bang on it, you know he’s home. The lights are on.
“Nathan! Open up!”
When the door finally opens, you’re greeted with Nathan, his face one of surprise, but it quickly turns to a scowl.
”I know I am the last person you want to see right now but-“
“What? What do you want?” he cuts you off. You think of all the things you want to tell him. To ask him. You want to apologize; you want him to apologize. You want to know if he’s ok. But that’s not what comes out.
“Ok I know things ended badly, but I'm getting married next week and-“ you grab him and kiss him deeply. Your tongue delves into his mouth, and he quickly deepens the kiss himself. “I need you.” You tell him, you’re breathless.
“You’re gonna regret this, baby,” he grabs your ass and pulls you to him, and somehow manages to close the door behind you both.
“Make me regret it,” you moan into him. Damn, you’ve missed this. This is the raw passion you’ve been missing. His strong arms hold you tight and he backs you into a wall. His hands are on your dress, already quick to hike it up over your hips.
With the quirk of a brow, he looks at you when he sees you’re without underwear. Ok, maybe this is what you wanted.
“I’m gonna fuckin’ ruin you, baby.” He sucks on your neck as he wraps your legs around his waist. His teeth almost hurt, but it’s a good pain, you wouldn’t trade it for anything. “You shouldn’t even be near here. Near me.”
“Please, I’m begging you,” you whine. You didn’t mean to sound this desperate but now that his hands and mouth are on you it just comes out. You claw at his shirt, wanting him to take it off. You need his skin on yours. He pulls back to tug it off, and in the process, he rips your dress open. This frees your bare chest, and he grabs your tits with a fiery aggression. He squeezes them and bites on your shoulder.
His chest is heaving, and the truth spills out.
“I missed you so fuckin’ much, you know that? No one takes my cock quite as well as you do.”
You hate that he’s right, and it only makes you wetter for him.
“No one gives it like you do,” you tell him, moaning trying to get him to push himself inside. You’re desperate, aching.
“Damn right.” He lightly smacks your clit, and you cry out. “I’m the only one who fucks this pussy right.”
“Please!” you buck your hips trying to urge him on. “I need you!”
He finally gives you what you want and thrusts into you hard. He fills you so well, and you choke out a gasp. He’s so proud of himself, he can’t let this moment slip by.
“Oh, you always take me so well kitten,” he grunts shifting his position and hitting you deeper. “This is my pussy, isn’t it? You love it when I fuck this tight pussy? Say it.”
“Nathan!” you dig your nails into his back, and he buries his face into your neck.
“Say it.”
“I love it when you fuck this tight pussy!” you scream as he rubs his thumb over your clit. He’s giving it hard, but you need it. You need all of him. And he fuckin’ knows it.
“Yeah, I can tell how much you love it,” he growls. “You love having my big cock inside you, don’t you? I bet your little fuck toy fiancé can’t fill you nearly as well as I do, does he?”
“No,” you gasp, “only you. I belong to you.”
“Good girl, fuck!” his head falls on your shoulder, he rubs your clit harder to match his heavy thrusts. “I want you to come for me and show me just how good you can be. Okay kitten?”
You whine and claw at him, “I’m so close, please! Let me come!”
“Do it. Come all over my fucking cock.”
With the sound of his voice and the press of his thumb, you find your release. It’s white hot and intense, and your lower back cramps from the intensity of your squeezing around him. You gasp for air and grunt while he still pushes into you. He’s chasing his high and you want him to hit it.
“FUCK! Fuck, can I come inside you?” his voice is full of need, he’s not above begging to fill you up.
“Do it,” you say back to him. “I want all of you.” And that’s the truth.
“Fuck, fuck. That’s it. Oohhh. Oh shit, you take my cum so well,” he chuckles and kisses your cheek. Your bodies still but your chests heave together.
“He doesn't - not like this.” In fact, he’s never given you such pleasure. It’s only ever about him.
“Poor baby, you’ve been neglected, haven’t you?” He smirks kissing you again. “Your thin dick fiancé can’t take care of you properly, hmm?”
“Nathan you wouldn't believe, he- he just doesn't- You know exactly what to do to get me soaked,” you sigh and flutter around him when he pulls out.
“I know you. More than just sexually.”
You nod, he truly does.
“Fuck we made a mess,” he grins and sets you down on the floor. Your knees tremble and your dress is torn around your waist. Nathan’s slick is sliding down your thighs. “Come on,” he hands you his shirt off the floor, and he pulls your torn-to-shreds dress off your body.
You follow him down the familiar maze of his home into your bedroom. You sit down on the bed and he disappears into the bathroom. He returns with a rag to clean you up, and when he’s finished, he lays down beside you. He curls up close to you and kisses your neck before he gets settled.
It’s quiet for a while. You just hold each other in silence. It’s nice. A still moment with him is what you’ve been missing.
He breaks the silence with a sigh, then comes the question you’ve been waiting for.
”Do… do you love him?”
Tears well up in your eyes, and you feel your chest tighten. Nathan’s calm, but you know he’s dying for an answer.
“I- I don't know anymore. I started dating him after we broke up because well, he wasn't you. And now that's- that's the problem. He's safe.  But he’s boring. And he only cares about himself.”
It’s as if you’re just now realizing what you’ve known all along.
“Don’t marry him.” It’s not a plea, it’s not a demand. It’s a casual statement. But when he buries his face in your neck that tells you how he really feels. “I know we didn’t part on the best of terms, but… fuck, I’ve missed you.”
“Really? I- I mean I know we just angry fucked – But I thought you would never wanna see me again. Especially after what I did to you. We both did stupid things.”
“Baby I missed you the whole time. Didn’t you know? I was angry and scared because I was in love with you and it just seemed better to let you go then to end up hurting you.” He sighs pulling you in closer, his lips press softly into your skin. “But then cuz I was an asshole I hurt you and pushed you out.”
“I know, I think I always knew.”
“And he’s cheating on you anyways.”
“What?”
“Oh shit, that’s right. You never saw the texts. I told you everything.”
You sit up and look down at him laying in the bed. He’s so gorgeous, it’s as if you’ve forgotten. You’re still that girl with a crush on him.
“I ignored the texts cuz I was mad at you over the AI. He’s really cheating on me?”
“I know,” he smiles sadly. “I’m onto new tech now though. Smart Home Devices. But yeah, shit baby, I’m sorry I had to be the one to tell you. I stalked him online,” he clears his throat. “You know-“
“Cuz you were jealous,” you giggle and lean down to kiss the grey spot on his head.
“Ok, yeah fuck it I was. I wanted to see who I lost you to. But then it was pretty obvious he was cheating, and I tried to let you know, but you never answered.”
“I’m sorry about that, by the way. For not answering.”
“I’m sorry I did all that behind your back.”
“It’s just- if I had been here,” you start to sniffle. You look down at the scar on his chest, and it makes your heart pound. “What if something had happened, and I never got to tell you…” you wipe your tears on your sleeve. “Are you okay?” You reach out and touch the scar on his chest. His skin chills from your touch, but he’s still, he lets you touch him.
“I’m not okay without you. But yeah, I’m fine. Couple scars.”
“And what did you mean earlier? When you said you were in love with me? Was? Does this mean you aren't in love with me anymore? What am I even doing here? I don't know what to do anymore. Everyone has been making decisions for me. No one cares about what I want.”
“Hey, easy kitten.” That familiar nickname. “No, I… I’m still in love with you.” He sits up to cup your face, forcing you to look at him. “I want you to choose. if you want to stay… I want to be better for you. But I want you to make the choice yourself.”
“Nathan, I- the fact that you want me to choose is making me want to stay.”
“Then stay,” he strokes your cheek with his thumb. “But only if it’s what you think is best for you.”
“You're what's best for me, no one has cared for me like you do. And no one gets under my skin like you do either,” you lean up to kiss his lips. “Listen to me right now Nathan. If I do this, if I call off that wedding, you have to promise me right now some changes will be made around here. For both of us.”
“I promise. I swear. Name it and it’s done.”
“I'm not telling you to stop drinking, but go easy ok? You scare me sometimes when you overdo it.”
“Done. Truth be told, if I have you, I won’t really need to drink. Being with you… it quiets my mind. What else?”
“I wanna be the only one. If you need to, I don't know, fuck one of the AI’s for some science thing that's fine, just tell me about it and don’t lie to me. But if it's for you to blow off steam? Come get me. Ok?”
“You’re the only pussy I want, I promise. And I’m done with them. Could never get them wet and warm like you,” he winks and pulls you into his arms. “You’re all I need.”
“And last thing….I need you to help me think of a way to tell my family and my fiancé this whole thing is off,” you wince at the thought. Either way you’re breaking it off with Jack because he’s cheating but bringing Nathan back after having just slept with him means you cheated too. “Because I technically cheated on him with you,” you say aloud.
“Nah, kitten. You decided it was over with him the moment you came out here. Fuck having cold feet, you were done.”
“You’re right,” you sigh, you couldn’t admit it to yourself, but he sees right through you. He always has.
“I know,” he grins.
“Ugh you ass,” you shove his chest.
“Ow, my scar!” he flops back dramatically on the bed. You play along and kiss all over his face.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t here.”
“I’m not. What if you had gotten hurt? I’d never forgive myself. I was already a damn mess after you left.”
You can’t curl into him any closer, but it doesn’t stop you from trying. His warmth is so comforting. The smell of his soap on his skin. The expensive beard oil. You’ve missed rubbing that into his beard. Everything about being close to him reminds you that this is right, this is what you want. He is who you want.
“What about the wedding? It’s next week,” you sigh. The thought fills you with dread having to cancel everything.
“What if you went through with it? And then I come in and crash the wedding,” he chuckles. “Always wanted to crash a wedding.”
“Wait, that’s not a bad idea,” you giggle.
“We can do anything you want, baby. Hell, I’ll crash your wedding and be your groom if you want.”
“Did you- did you just say what I thought you said?” you sit up to look at him, you want to read the expression on his face. His eyes are serious, but there’s a slight smile on his lips, he nibbles on his lip.
“If you wanted. I know we’ve never talked about that, but… I’d like to. I wouldn’t mind getting hitched,” he shrugs, but you know he means it.
“I thought you didn’t believe in marriage,” you feel tears welling up in your eyes. This changes everything.
“People assume that,” he chuckles sitting up, his hands rub your thighs. “I’m not opposed. And if it would make you happy, then why the hell not?”
“I want that more than anything!” you lean forward to kiss him, and he leans back pulling you with him. His thumb strokes your back while you kiss his cheeks and lips.
“Then let’s get married. I wanna make you Mrs. Bateman,” he hums kissing you and he squeezes your hip.
“You’re gonna hate Jack,” you laugh realizing they’ll have to meet at some point.
“He’ll hate me when he realizes I’m stealing his fiancé.”
“I can’t believe I was going to marry him. I felt like I had to. I was mad at you, and I thought that would be my way to get back at you by saying yes, even though I felt pressured. I don't know what made me come back here to you, but I'll spend the rest of my life glad I did.”
“You came back because I’m irresistible,” he gives you a playful look. “I’m glad you came. I’m so glad you’re back. I want you to make your own decisions, so… I really hope you don’t feel like you have to marry me.”
“No, I want to. I want to marry you. I want you in my life. You respect me enough to make my own decisions. And you know where my g-spot is.”
He snorts out a laugh, “Ahhh, yes, my primary function as your future husband. Honestly wouldn’t mind if you just used me like a glorified sex toy. That’d probably be hot.”
You smile and kiss him again. You can’t seem to stop, and you don’t want to. He wraps his arms around you and your legs tangle between the sheets. He pushes into you slowly, your bodies mold together and it’s everything you could want.
“I can’t wait to crash your wedding,” he muses. You laugh imaging the chaos.
“You can’t wait to make a scene, can you?”
“Kitten, I am the scene.”
“What am I getting myself into?” you laugh.
You fall asleep in his arms that night and leaving his warmth the next morning is one of the hardest things you do.
“It’s just a few more days kitten,” he reassures you. And you know that but having him and then leaving is worse than you could have imagined.
Now you have to go back and pretend you’re excited to marry Jack. The excitement part is easy, you are excited about getting married, just not to Jack. You almost feel guilty, living this lie. But then you remember Jack has been cheating on you this entire time.
You went back and read the texts Nathan sent you on your flight home. Some of them broke your heart. Some of them were genuinely funny and he was trying to make you laugh. Anger burned in you when you found the texts about Jack. It was plain as day and you felt stupid, you’d missed it. You know all these women and it makes so much sense. There’d be nights when he was gone and had no excuse to be out of the house.
You don’t blame Nathan for fucking one of his AI’s. He was stressed and overwhelmed with love for you he panicked. Sure, it was a dick move, and he wasn’t thinking straight. But he knew it was wrong and apologized for it. Over and over. He’d tell you later that after you left, he couldn’t get off like he could when he was with you. The AI fucking was over, and after one almost killed him, he gave it up.
But Jack is flat out cheating on you and has been lying about it for years. He had the nerve to propose to you while he had women on the side. You feel so stupid.
You’re out of it during the rehearsal dinner. You pay attention to nothing during the actual rehearsal. Nathan is going to be there tomorrow and break it all up. You feel those butterflies thinking about him coming to save you.
He’s nervous. He’s barely talked to you, but you know why. This is a big change for him, but one he’s ready to embrace. He’s not one to back down from a challenge.
You wake up the day of your wedding with a text from Nathan. All it says is “good morning.”
If there was any doubt he wouldn’t show up, this blew them all away. He’ll be there.
You just don’t know when.
It changes everything. When you put on your dress, all your bridesmaids and family comment on how you’re glowing and radiant. You got this dress with Nathan in mind, you can’t wait for him to see you in it.
There’s a tremble in your step as you’re escorted down the aisle. No one knows the secret you’re hiding.
It’s at this moment you start to get anxious. You don’t know when he’ll interrupt. What if he backs out and you have to leave Jack in the middle of the ceremony?
Jack takes your hands; your heartbeat is rapid and sweat is on your palms. This isn’t the man you want, and it’s taking all of your willpower to not turn and look for Nathan.
The minister opens his mouth to speak when you hear a loud “STOP.”
Everyone else turns with shock to see Nathan at the end of the aisle, but you- you’re beaming, and tears fall down your cheeks.
His expression is soft, his eyes look like they’re about to spill over with tears. You’ve never seen him look so handsome. His beard is trimmed, he’s in tight grey slacks and a crisp white dress shirt. The sleeves are rolled up on his forearms, and you want to eat him alive he looks so good.
You waste no time running down the aisle to him. His arms open ready to catch you in a hug when you leap for him. He chuckles when your bodies touch- the air knocked out of him.
“Hey gorgeous,” he kisses your cheek. “You ready?” he asks stroking your cheek softly.
You nod and he takes your hand.
“Don’t look back.”
You take his hand; he squeezes it tight and you walk out front where a sleek black car is waiting for you. It takes you into town to the justice of the peace. The two of you thought this was simpler – and more appropriate than crashing a wedding and taking it over for your own. And as much as Nathan likes to make a scene, a smaller ceremony is more his speed.
“You look beautiful,” he tells you as you walk inside. He can’t take his eyes off you.
“Just don’t rip this one in half,” you snort out a laugh taking his arm.
“Baby, I’ll buy you a new one,” he pretends to pout.
When you reach the office, you gasp to see a handful of your immediate family standing there waiting for you.
“How did you-“ you gape looking around at them all.
“Called your family ahead of time,” Nathan shrugs. “Consider it one of my many wedding gifts to you baby.”
You marry him there in that little office. His warm hands cup your cheeks when he pulls you in for a kiss. He cries. It’s exactly the kind of wedding you pictured with him. No mess. No fuss.
But you take full advantage of the reception. Everyone else is there and is happy to welcome you. You’re glad for it because you finally get some good quality pictures of you and Nathan together.
He indulges you in all the little wedding reception traditions. He feeds you a bite of cake, and maybe kisses you a little too dirty for that crowd, but you can’t be bothered to care.
The best surprise of the night is when he pulls you on the dancefloor. His arms wrapped tight around you as you sway together.
“Where do you want to go on our honeymoon?” he asks you. “Anywhere you want to go. Name it.”
“Anywhere there’s a bed,” you giggle. You lay your head on his shoulder and breathe deeply. This is where you’re meant to be.
Your dance ends when the DJ starts to play a funky disco song. And it’s all Nathan can do not to start dancing right away. You burst out laughing and let him go. He dances all around you while tears of laughter stream down your face. A little crowd has gathered around watching him and he doesn’t even see them, only you.
He takes a bow when that song ends, and you can’t remember the last time you’ve laughed that hard.
The moment turns when a very drunk Jack walks in.
“Oh no,” you grab Nathan’s arm. He pushes you behind him when Jack makes his way towards the two of you. His speech is slurred, and his hair is a mess.
“So, this is who you left me for?” he looks Nathan up and down. Nathan’s jaw is ticked in anger, but he doesn’t want to waste his time on him.
“You were cheating on me, anyway, why do you care?” you shake your head. You’re still so angry at him.
“So? Didn’t you say he was too?” he jabbed a finger onto Nathan’s chest. He brushed him off and breathed out his nose like an angry bull ready to charge.
“It was a mistake dude, and I regret it every fuckin’ day.”
“Did she tell you? She called me Nathan in bed? How I had to live with the reminder of you?”
“Oh, so cheating makes it better?” Nathan’s blood pressure was beginning to rise.
“Well, I needed to get pussy from somewhere, since she wasn’t putting out-“ Jack could barely finish his sentence before Nathan’s fist collided with his nose – breaking it.
Jack leaned back holding his bloody nose as Nathan grabbed him by his shirt collar.
“Don’t you ever insult my wife like that again.”
Jack wanted to swing back and attempted. But Nathan caught his fist, and punched Jack in the stomach. Shame more than anything else sent Jack on his way.
Nathan turned to you to apologize for making a scene, but you’ve never been so attracted to him as you have in this moment. Your new husband just defended your honor.
“Take me home,” you wrap your arms around him.
“You wanna join the-mile-high club? Or can we go fuck in your childhood bedroom since your house isn’t far from here? Do you have any posters of me on your wall?”
You shake your head with a laugh and playfully smack his arm. You pull away from him and greet a family member, and Nathan chases after you.
“That’s not an answer. Babe! Do you have one?”
“Would it make a difference if I said yes?” you grin turning back to him. You loop your hands around his neck, and he puts his hands on your hips.
“Fuck. Fuck, it would make a huge fuckin’ difference. Can we spend the honeymoon in your room?”
“So, you can look at a poster of yourself while you have sex with your new wife?” your smile gets bigger and bigger.
“Fuck. What picture is it?”
“Nathan!”
“Just kidding,” he smiles kissing your lips. “I booked us a nice hotel for our first night.”
“No posters in there,” you giggle.
“I’ll buy one,” he kisses you deeper. “Do you really have one of me in your room-“
He’ll find out soon enough, but you’re not going to tell him that you don’t just have one – but two.
