Make sure he hears you are taken (Pedri x Reader) smut
Tumblr media
Warnings: jealous Pedri, basically he answers your phone to make sure a guy getting too close to you hears how well he fucks you, smut, exhibitionism of some kind I guess, lots of Spanish
Masterlist
The whole trouble starts with Pedri on his car driving Gavi home after training.
He has been quite busy lately, not having enough attention for you lately so he feels as if he has to make it up to you, taking chance of tomorrow's free day to dine you out then fuck you well into the morning hours.
"Oye, coge mi móvil y llama a y/n, porfa, que quiero confirmar para hoy a la noche" he tells Gavi, the younger boy nodding, unlocking his friend's phone - your birthday the password, and pressing call on your contact, a picture of the two of you, rolling his eyes at how obsessively in love Pedri is. (hey, take my phone and call y/n, please, that I want to check for tonight)
The phone rings twice before your voice sounds on the other side, putting an instant smile on Pedri's face.
"Hola, amor, ¿como estás?" you greet him. (hey love, how are you?)
"Bien bien, solo quería confirmar si todo sigue en pie para hoy a la noche" you hum in agreement, and he grins widely. (good, good, just wanted to check if everything is still good for tonight)
Then he hears it, male voice in the background, your voice responding to whoever it was, Gavi's eyes widen, wanting to know what is about to come down.
"¿Con quien estás, amor?" (who are you with, love?)
You voice is lowered as you speak next "Un pesado de la uni, diciéndome algo de que quería quedar conmigo esta noche" (some loser from college, telling me something about wanting to hang out with me tonight)
Gavi's mouth is wide open as he side eyes his friend.
"¿Es tonto o que?" (is he stupid or what?)
You hum again at your boyfriend's question "Es muy pesado. Pero mejor lo hablamos luego, que no me quiero ni imaginar la cara de Gavi escuchando el chisme" (he is so annoying. But we better talk later I can't even imagine Gavi's face listening to the gossip)
The younger boy scoffs "¡No estoy chismoseando!" (I am not gossiping!)
"Ajá, si claro, haré que me lo creo. Bueno amor, nos vemos luego, te amo" Pedri says it back and indicates Gavi to hang up. (aha, yeah right, I will do as if I believe that. Well love, see you later, love you)
Pedri's knuckles are white as he grips the steering wheel.
"Tú sabes que ella ni siquiera mira hacia otro hombre" (you know she doesn't even look another man's way)
"Claro que lo se, pero no sé de qué va ese puto payaso, no es que nuestra relación sea secreta ni nada, todo el mundo sabe que estamos juntos" (of course I know that, what I don't know is what that fucking clown is about, it's not like our relationship is a secret, everyone knows we are together)
"No le des muchas vueltas, tú piensa que simplemente es un gilipollas que ya se cansará" (don't think too much about it, just think that he simply is an asshole that will eventually get tired)
But not even Gavi's unusually rational words can keep Pedri's mind away from whoever that fucking asshole is.
Pedri doesn't let his fleeting thoughts ruin your night together, though, even if his mind is full of jealousy.
You know he is jealous, he might be one of the best footballers out there, but acting is not a talent of his.
His fans go wild at how many stories and pictures he has posted tonight, some of them simply showing you off, one of the two of you kissing, another of the fancy restaurant he has taken you to, all photos accompanied by romantic quotes that almost has your eyes full of tears because of how happy they make you.
You know lay on your comfortable couch, a bottle of wine shared between you as you cuddle into his chest, him placing kisses on your head, both of you just happy with each other's company. He looks down at you with so much love in his eyes, a dumb smile on his face as you ramble about your day, your eyes as full of love as his.
Then your phone dings.
You both ignore it, but the sound repeats, once, twice, thrice.
You sigh, picking up the phone, a frown on your face as you see who the messages' sender is.
"¿Pasa algo?" your boyfriend asks you, his face full of concern. (is something wrong?)
You puff and show him the screen, the name of a boy on the notifications, asking you about what you are doing, telling you you would have had so much more fun with him than with 'that football player you are dating', there is a image attached to that Pedri can only guess is a dick pic, another message telling you all about how hot you are - as if you even needed a reminder of that, and how horny you make him.
"Supongo este es el gilipollas, ¿no?" you nod, he scoffs "Maldito cabron de mierda, ¿de que puto va? Asqueroso" (I suppose this is the idiot, right? Fucking, shitty asshole, what the fuck is he going about? Disgusting)
He drops the phone on the couch, his face hidden behind his hands, you approach him, you head in his neck "Lo siento" (you apologise)
He shakes his head "¿De que te disculpas? No es tu culpa sea un baboso" (what are you apologising for? It's not your fault he is a slob)
"Debería haberte dicho antes que no me dejaba en paz" (I should have told you before that he doesn't stop bothering me)
"No es tu culpa, se que he estado ocupado últimamente" (it's not you fault, I know I have been busy lately)
"No es excusa" you say, then lean forward placing a kiss on his neck "Déjame pagártelo" (it's no excuse. Let me make it up to you)
A handsome smile takes over his face, your mouths meeting in a passionate kiss, he cups your face, the kiss leaving you breathless.
He separates, his kisses going lower and sucking your neck, leaving a mark behind, his hands go lower too, gripping the hem of your dress, pushing it up.
"Venga bonita, dejame quitarte este vestido, dejame verte entera" (come on pretty one, let me take this dress off you, yet me see all of you)
You are left only in your panties, having chosen to not wear a bra tonight, his mouth salivating at the sight of you breasts, the cold air gardening your nipples. He leans forward, making you completely lay down as he showers over you, he kisses both breasts, his hips are grinding into yours, he already has you moaning, your hands buried in his hair, pulling on its strands, making it messy.
You are pulling on his shirt, wanting to see more of him, he kisses your check and takes it off, letting you see his strong upper part, your eyes stuck on the signs of the happy trail leading to the bulge his pants struggle to contain. You mouth attaches to his neck, he now lays on the couch, gazing up at you, getting comfortable as you lips go lower, hands unbuckling his belt, you push his pants down, the same with his underwear, his cock bouncing against his stomach, red tip, the veins looking about to explode, there is precum coming out and his balls look heavy.
"¿No vas a chuparla?" he teasingly asks, you roll your eyes. (are you not going to suck it?)
"Todo un caballero. Ni un por favor ni nada" (such a gentleman. Not even a please)
"Por favor, mi diosa a la que amo más que nada en el mundo, chupame la polla. ¿Así mejor?" (please, my goddess who I love more than anything in this world, suck my dick. Is that better?)
You hum, mouth wide open as you struggle to take him down your throat, your hand stimulating what you can't fit, his head goes back, his hands on your hair as you go up and down.
"Joder, pareces un experta y todo" (shit, you feel like an expert and all)
You let go, hand still working up and down "Mi novio me ha ayudado a practicar" (my boyfriend has helped me practice)
"Joder" he moans, hoarse voice high pitched "Suena a que es muy suertudo" (fuck. He sounds like a lucky man)
You kiss his tip, his heart is about to explode at how cute you look "Yo soy la suertuda" (I am the lucky one)
"Debatible" (debatable)
His hands pull on your hair, making you drop his cock as he once more pushes you to lay on the couch, he hovers over you, lips meeting yours as one hand grasps your cheek, the other reaches down to pull off your panties. Once they are gone, that same hand pushes your legs open, a finger starts teasing your clit, all of this without letting go of your lips.
"Dios, como te quiero" he says as you need a breather, he is looking at you as if you had hung the stars on the sky, in his mind you probably have. (god, I love you so much)
There are only inches in between you as he pushes a finger into you, fucking you with it slowly, you basically moaning into his mouth.
"Tan apretada y solo llevo un dedo. ¿Como se va a sentir cuando sea mi polla la que esté dentro?" (so tight and it's only one finger. How will it feel when it's my cock inside?)
You can't respond, now concentrated on the feeling of two fingers inside of you and another rubbing circles on your clit. Breaking eye contact is not a possibility, his eyes call yours, you can only see him, only the two of you left in a world that could be burning down for all you cared, his lips may be kissing your breasts, but his eyes stay on yours.
That is, until the loud ring of your phone, making you groan as you reach to toss it away. Pedri is faster and picks it up, disgust taking over his expression as he sees who the caller is.
"De verdad, que no se puede ser más subnormal" he is about to hung up, when an idea strucks his mind "¿Qué te parece si le dejamos escuchar lo bien que te follo, amor? Así se le queda bien claro que tú solamente eres mía" (seriously, you can't be more stupid. How about we let him hear how well I fuck you, love? So he can understand that you are only mine)
You think it over for a second, then slowly nod making him grin widely before planting along kiss on your lips and picking up the call, placing the phone right next to your head.
You are sure the guy is talking, but you can't really understand what he is saying - something about it you are there, Pedri is on his knees in between your legs, face on your center as he licks a long stripe up, lips wrapping around your clit, you let out a loud moan that they guy on the other side of the phone surely didn't miss.
Pedri is devouring you as if you were his last meal, there fingers now inside of you pumping in and out restlessly, his mouth doesn't leave your clit until he feels you about to cum by the high pitch on your whines and moans. He lets go, leaving you just about to reach the extasis that you long so much for.
He picks you up and turns you around, on all fours you feel him on your entrance, his tip teasing you.
"Recuerda dejarle bien claro que solo hay una persona que te puede tener así" (remember to make it clear there is only one person that can have you like this)
"Pedri!" you whine when he sticks only his tip inside of you, you are breathless, a whining mess as you hide your face in the pillow your boyfriend made sure to be avaible so you aren't as uncomfy.
"Dios, estas ya así cuando ni siquiera he hecho nada todavía. ¿Como vas a aguantar cuando te esté follando como te mereces?" (god, you are like this without me doing anything still. How will you manage when I fuck you like you deserve?)
His tip does playful taps against you, until finally he is entirely in you in one harsh thrust, a loud moan escaping your mouth and into the phone's microphone.
"¿Eso se sintió bien, amor?" you desperately nod and he laughs. (did that feel good, love?)
The pace of his hips is hard and fast, unforgiving, the noise of skin against skin is loud, not as much as you moans and whines, his groans are lower, hoarser. He leans down, biting into your neck, his strong chest against your back as he desperately ruts into you, heavy balls hitting you, his heat enveloping you.
"Deja que escuche lo bien que te follo, déjale claro de quién eres" (let him hear how well I fuck you, make it clear who you belong to)
"Pedri!" you whine, you are close, about to come as you tighten even more around him, trapping him inside you, your sound get hight pitched, so do his groans.
His hips stutter a bit, his pace faltering as he reaches down to you phone, speaking into it "Payaso, ¿te pensabas te iba a dar el placer de escuchar lo linda que se escucha al correr se para mi? Vete a la mierda, déjala en paz" (clown, did you really think I would let you the pleasure of hearing how pretty she sound when she comes for me? Go to hell, leave her alone)
He hangs up and tosses the phone aside, fully concentrating on you and how good you feel, picking you up and setting you on his lap, moving you up and down, thrusting, harshly into you, one hand playing with your clit, his lips attached to your neck.
"Venga bonita, vente para mi, necesito sentirte a mi alrededor" (come on pretty one, cum for me, I need to feel you around me)
You can't really think straight but nod desperately, cumming at once when you feel his tip kissing your cervix, all his cum filling you up to the brim.
It's not enough, you both know that, and by the time you are done, his cum is seeping out from you and it's early morning hours.
Needless to say, the boy never dares to even look you to the eye again.

CURRENT ASK GAME
tagged by @littleragondin 😘
Current time: apparently 9:12pm holy moly no idea how that happened...they (days of the weekend) grow up so fast...
Current activity: filling out this ask game. am i supposed to be multitasking??
Currently thinking about: also thinking about this ask game lol idk what to tell ya i got a one-track mind i guess
Current favourite song: i am obsessively listening to bonne journée by stromae on repeat trying to learn the words. so far very slowgoing. the only parts i'm feeling confident about are the chorus and the last verse. kicking my ass in particular at the moment are "le bonheur est bien la seule chose/qui quand on la partage se multiplie" (the cadence is really throwing me for some reason) and "tout ce que j'sais c'est qu's'il s'tourne vers le soleil l'ombre est derrière lui" (bestie that is sooo many syllables...). i am about to crack that first one though, i can feel it. "se multiplie" is gonna be eating my dust any minute now. then i can move on to the lines i haven't even tried yet because i've been too intimidated lol.
i do find it very fun to say "tu profites jamais vraiment de ce moment présent/en fait t'es juste dépressif" (check out the run of -ent sounds on that bad boy!) and
c'est parce qu'y a des bas qu'y a des hauts et parce qu'y a des hauts qu'y a des bas y a pas d'débats d'idéaux, non comme un idiot fais les pas de la danse de la joie
the mouthfeel this has! first we got the first two lines, which are almost identical save for switching the placement of "bas" and "hauts". thats chiasmus babe!
then much of the third line phonetically echos the first line with completely different words:
1: [sɛ paʁskja debɑ kja deo] 3: [ja pɑ deba dideo nɔ̃]
(it's even more repetitive to my non-native ear because "des bas" and "débats" are homophones to me because i still can't tell the difference between [ɑ] and [a] lol.)
he articulates the third line as well as "idiot" in the fourth line really deliberately, which brings attention to the idéaux / idiot minimal pair. and then i really like the rest of that line, the cadence of fais les PAS de la DANSE de la JOIE, the repetition of "de la", and, until i looked it up in the dictionary to confirm, i also thought that pas / joie was an inner rhyme, but apparently those are different vowels lol. well they rhyme to me.
if i can get this song down i will move on to mauvaise journée, because as you might infer from the titles they are a matched set and i would love to get the full experience. but one thing at a time.
Currently reading: i am about to finish speaking bones, the last book in ken liu's dandelion dynasty. SHIT IS GOING DOWN. shit has been going down for like 500 pages in a row. this book is intense!! there are less than 200 pages left and i've not the foggiest what is gonna happen. probably only one or two more technologies are going to be invented because ken liu likes to lovingly linger over the inventions and we only have so much space left, which will have to be mostly plot i think. try to focus, mr. liu! i know you love reinventing computer programming in as many mediums as possible and i love that for you, i really do, in any other circumstance i would listen to you do that all day long, but you JUST killed off four more of your major characters and threw the [redacted for spoilers] into a [redacted] crisis! what is going to happen to these [redacted] and their [redacted] [redacted]!! eyes on the prize sir!
in other news, today i started l'enfant de sable by tahar ben jelloun. i've only read the first two chapters, but i'm really liking the style so far! some really beautiful sentences, and i like the framing device.
of course my dico read is continuing apace. i'm now in the middle of the j's. got to the word jobard today and was like why is this so familiar? then remembered it's in my favorite line from les mis:
êtes-vous fous ! êtes-vous toqués ! en voilà-t-il un tas de jobards ! perdre le temps, n'est-ce pas ? tirer au sort, n'est-ce pas ? au doigt mouillé ! à la courte paille ! écrire nos noms ! les mettre dans un bonnet !
ah, really takes me back.
also got thud! going as my current bedtime discworld reread.
Currently watching: rewatching natsume's book of friends! i'm jumping around to watch all the episodes with natori and/or matoba, but then i'm hoping to start back at the beginning and rewatch everything. it's taking a while because i'm taking detailed notes.
Current favorite character: hiiragi from natsume <333 i love how badass she is and how kind she was to child!natori while she was trapped in an impossible situation she had no hope of escaping and i love her for her apathy and her subsequent devotion to the person who broke her out (natori after he had grown up and forgotten her kindness) and i love all her little Does Not Compute momence when natsume is treating her like a person. she and murderbot really are same hat. i wonder what kind of emotions murderbot would experience watching this show? it would implode, probably.
current favorite book character is jia from the dandelion dynasty...damn she's complicated! i know i said after book 3 that this series seems more or less blorbo-free, but i take it back for her specifically. i love how conflicted she makes me feel. go girl give us [redacted]!
Current WIP: theoretically i am rewriting the clues of a finished crossword to try to make it nyt-worthy, but i haven't actually started that yet, i've just told a lot of people that i'm going to do it. not actually the same thing as doing it, as it turns out. shocked and upset.
meanwhile i'm trying to write the november themed crossword for the local paper. it's also at the clue-writing stage, my least favorite stage. but this one has a deadline, so i will definitely do it eventually.
i've got the post about the words in the D section of the french dictionary in drafts but have not had the motivation to really work on it lately. those take me a long time because i want to check etymology and all sorts of stuff.
sorry to say that the ask somebody sent me about the imperial radch a few months ago is also languishing in drafts and probably will continue to do so. the time to answer it would have been right after i reread the trilogy and it was all fresh in my mind. but who knows, one of these days while nightblogging i might in my sleep-deprived state find it in drafts and go "what's this doing in here? it looks fine, not half-baked at all. post!"
also i still would like to change my username but there are some things i want to do first to minimize the carnage (i.e., broken links and readmores). you are currently the only person who knows the username i have chosen to succeed my current one! i hope you feel special. i just realized something else about it that was not intended but is fun. it's the gift that keeps on giving, but currently only to me (and i guess to you, if you feel so gifted) because it's a secret...
tagging hmmm let's say...@zyrafowe-sny for being the one to recommend l'enfant de sable to me, @psqqa for recommending la cantatrice chauve which i just finished the other day (sooo trippy to read out loud! i would love to see it performed some day 🤞), @suibianworks and @cinnamonandpancakes because i know you also like stromae, @aerialbots for your french artist spotify playlist (which i listened to most of while cooking the other day! you have great taste), and @sapphiredragonprincess for always hyping my rambly natsuyuu tags! as always, only if you want to <3

I know people ask who is Philip Quast but what I want to ask is how did you find about him and why you do you love him so much? No sarcasm, I would like to know genuinely
it could be sarcasm and I'd still answer this because i won't ever miss the opportunity to talk about PQ xD anyway not to bore you with too long of a story, i watched Les Mis the 10th Anniversary Concert somewhere at the start of 2018 and basically this was me the entire time
Tumblr media
at that point i was still new to painting (barely two years in) and the thought of doing it for a living was but a distant dream. i had some tough years behind me, there are too many things to count and this is probably tmi as it is but my dad passed away in early 2016 after a year-long battle with cancer and i started painting as a way to distract myself from the pain, i felt like i was channeling all the bad things in my life into something good and meaningful even if my art was trash at the time but anyway i digress as usual but this is relevant to me finding comfort in Les Mis as the anniversary of my dad's passing away was approaching in February and somehow along the way Javert became my emotional support character and i finished and posted this painting on February 10th 2018:
Tumblr media
it was my first of many Javert or Philip Quast pieces (though i had no idea at the time just how much Philip Quast himself would affect me as an artist and as a person) and i distinctly remember painting this
Tumblr media
some time in March of the same year - i remember painting it on a particularly cold day, all by myself in the house, fire crackling in the old wood stove we had back then, and looking back i think i remember it so vividly because it was the first time in years that I've experienced some kind of inner peace, it was extraordinary and it was beautiful and somehow painting PQ has become a thing i do when i need to find that peace again, when I'm scared and anxious (and i am anxious A Lot) and when my depression is kicking my ass, i paint him and for a moment i can go back to that place of peace and contentment, however brief that moment may be. fast forward to July 2018 my blog was overtaken by Javert
Tumblr media
my obsession with Javert has taught me so much, because i was constantly trying to find new and better ways to paint him, but it has also led me to find out more about my favourite Javert. well the person behind my favourite Javert really. I went and listened and watched way too many things he was in (many of them were bad xD) some days I'd listen to nothing but my PQ playlist, but most importantly i watched and read every interview i could find and I don't think one can comprehend just how amazing of a person he is without looking those up, he's a very private person but from what we know of him i think it's safe to say that he is kind and he is genuine and it's very hard not to love him for those reasons alone.
he's not on social media but at some point people started sending him my art (which i was terrified of, because he's so humble and i so thought my art would make him uncomfortable) but this was reassuring in a way
Tumblr media
and so on February 10th 2020 he was given my art book and he was very kind and gracious and more wonderful than i could've ever hoped he'd be
Tumblr media
i shall cherish this video forever xD a lot of things have happened since but his kindness and encouragement have been a huge part of me not giving up (not just painting but like life in general xD) and i love him for that too. i love how understanding and thoughtful he is, he's got so much patience and he seeks like such a warm gentle soul. my world has often been a dark place, with bad things and bad people all around, so i hold onto the thought that there are people like him out there - genuinely good people - and that's been one of my lifelines really. i know a lot of people don't know him and follow me for my other art (i do love other things too xD) but he's very special to me and so i keep painting him as a way to learn and to cope, and knowing that he doesn't mind (and in fact encourages me to "finish the hat" xD) means a great deal to me. I've never met him (though that's still a dream of mine) and I don't know him but i feel like I've gotten to know him a little bit through painting him so much over the years :')
idk if that's what you wanted to know nonny and I'm sorry if this is too long and boring but idk how to stop xD

Hey! I know you didn't reply yet but I am very intrigued by your Barbie musical choices. I love that cast idea! Unfortunately I missed the movie again the other day but maybe I will see it the next week..idk. but I realized that I never told you my favorite musicals. So..my musical knowledge at first was from a lot of movie musicals..which I still love. Like I was familiar with Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Sweeney Todd and Rent..which are some of my favorites still cuz I'm so familiar with them. One of my absolute favorites is Sweeney Todd..and I know the show is better now but I still enjoy the movie. I was able to see Rent on tour which was better but I still enjoy the movie too. Then when I saw the Les Mis movie..I became obsessed with it and got more into Broadway because of it. But before that..I was familiar with a few songs from Wicked..and that was the first show I saw on tour so I still love it. Then I got really into Newsies and Jeremy Jordan for a while..and I think the musical is better than the movie..even if I saw the movie first lol. By this time..Hamilton had come out and I also loved that..but maybe not as much as other people..and 2016 was the first year I watched the Tony's. I enjoyed Waitress too. I also started watching old musical movies around that time..and just wanted to know as many musicals as possible..so West Side Story is one of my favorite movie musicals. La La Land had come out and I was obsessed with it..but Emma Stone is my favorite actress and her being in a musical was a dream come true. I know many people don't like it..but I did since it wasn't based on anything and reminded me of old musicals. Basically I like any musicals mostly..and don't really pick favorites between them. Unfortunately I haven't been as into Broadway as much lately for new shows but I try to see shows on tour. Hadestown on tour was really good and I hope you get tickets!!!There are a lot of cast recordings I haven't listened to yet. What are some of your favorite musicals? Sorry this is so long..and I know you haven't replied yet. Also I forgot to ask you your opinion on the new Emily Henry book!!!
have you watched the barbie movie yet? i'd love to hear your thoughts — especially with my casting! a friend suggested gavin creel (especially with his current hair) as ken, and once that was suggested most things just fell into place! i was toying around with stephanie styles (or taylor louderman) for barbie, originally, but then once i got attached to the idea of gavin creel as ken, i knew i needed someone who i was confident could hold their own next to gavin, someone who was a strong actor (and a more subtle actor), among other things and i just really, really want meghann fahy to go back to theatre! i'm really happy for her success in tv (and i loved watching her in bold type, and will someday get around to watching white lotus for her and her alone), but i do miss her doing theatre. she just has such a beautiful voice, and i've loved her since her sam brown days! i think about her singing valentine by preston max allen, and her as riley in the we are the tigers concert all the time! a fun fact about me is that i've only actually seen the sweeney todd movie, and i've actually never seen rent! for some reason, i've had it in my mind that i should just hold out on seeing rent until i can see it in person, and the last time the tour was here in seattle i had bronchitis and wasn't up for seeing it. i'm hoping i can see it sometime soon! i love love love mamma mia, and i think it's just the perfect movie musical — and also a perfect musical! it is simply just so fun! my friends and i did a powerpoint night a few years ago, and her powerpoint was on potential mamma mia sequels (and i think she had like, eight different titles + plots picked out). as a les mis snob, i have a love hate with the les mis movie, but it also did pull me deeper into the world of musical theatre 🤍 newsies was the first show i saw on broadway and it'll forever have a special place in my heart (my first musical ever was annie!). and i do also agree that the newsies musical is much better than the movie! i have such a soft spot for it. i used to follow the tony awards religiously (and also just like, constantly check up on broadway grosses, etc.) but i don't anymore! waitress is another show that has a special place in my heart; it's tied for the show i've seen the most, actually! speaking of la la land, i just remembered they were hoping to adapt it for the stage — i wonder what happened to it, or if it's just fizzled out. the choreo in la la land is spectacular, and i was just talking to a friend a little bit ago about how paramour (the cirque show) did a la la land tribute back in the day! i also haven't been as interested in current shows on broadway, unfortunately! i'm hoping that something will speak to me soon, because i'd love to go back and see some shows. i know the notebook musical is transferring, and i wonder if the cast will stay with it! i saw the notebook musical last october in chicago, and i thought it was ... very weak, but the cast was incredible. i was particularly blown away by john cardoza (who i still maintain should be orpheus in hadestown someday; i love him), and joy woods! and yes — i managed to get hadestour tickets while on the plane to chicago, actually! i'm super excited to see hadestown again 🤍 some of my favorite musicals are: les miserables, waitress, sunday in the park with george, hadestown, deaf west spring awakening, newsies, once, an american in paris, come from away, alice by heart, ride the cyclone, venice, marie dancing still, we are the tigers, company, amélie! i'm sure i'm leaving something out too! i haven't been listening to a lot of newer cast recordings either; i've been meaning to listen to the sweeney one, actually but i might hold off till the entire thing is released! and i'm so excited for the new emily henry! it sounds so up my alley (i say, as if any of her adult romances haven't been up my alley)! i saw the cover got leaked and it's so pretty too — i just wish it was coming out in paperback, and not hardback!

¡¿Por Qué Eres tan Flaco?! (Why Are You So Skinny)
Request/Summary: Fatgum/Reader fic where Reader owns a Latin restaurant that Fatgum frequents and reader sees him in skinny form and pretty much yanks him into her restaurant and holds him captive at a table that she fills with food for him and she pretty much mother hens him and by the end of it he's just like "marry me"
Word Count: 1,268
A/N: So this was a request by @gemstoneconstellations that I finally got around to; sorry for the long wait, hermana. Thank you to @crazythypoon for helping me with the translation, as well as your patience and encouragement. Also, this takes place in the Vigilante timeline; idk why I chose to do that, it just felt right.
~~~~~~~~
Propping open your restaurant door, you started setting up the sign that listed your special of the day. Today, you were offering pernil relleno con mofongo with a choice of either maduros or arroz con gandules for a side.
When you’d first decided to move to Japan and open a borinquen restaurant, most of your family had had their doubts and strongly discouraged you. Even you half-expected to be returning home after barely a year with your tail between your legs. But the response had been a lot better than anybody thought it could be; it helped that you had no problems learning the language. You had to admit though, your success wouldn’t have been half as great if it weren’t for your star customer.
Right now, you were working on getting your liquor license. When it came time for the holidays this year, you wanted to be able to sell some coquito. You were even looking into getting some moonshine from home...God, you missed Puerto Rican moonshine.
You also had some recipes you wanted to try out, but those you would run by your favorite customer. He’s been your biggest supporter since coming here and you liked to test dishes on him. But you hadn’t seen him in a while…
As a hero, it wasn’t abnormal for Fat Gum to seemingly disappear for days at a time. But you still worry, him being the brawler that he is. Last you heard, he was helping with some sort of investigation. Something about the instant-villain drug that had been circulating recently.
Sighing, you stood outside your shop, hands on your hips. Scanning the crowd, you started wondering whether to send out the cart today. The weather was good for it. Plus, it might be a good way to check up on Fat...ugh, perhaps you were obsessing too much. It’s not like you were his girlfriend…
Shaking your head at yourself, you turned to go back inside and tell your employees to prep the cart but the sight of someone stopped you.
Walking towards the shop was a man covered in bandages in a yellow hoodie, reminiscent of Fat Gum’s; it even had the signature black F and G on the bottom. In fact, with the mask, hair color, and the fact that he was currently munching on takoyaki, you almost thought it was Fat.
Except he was too skinny. Everyone knew that Fat Gum’s quirk was fat absorption, so he had to keep his body fat percentage high. This also meant he had a pretty big appetite. The amount of times he had caused you to sell out from just a single visit…
Yes, there was no way this was Fat...he would have had to expel a great deal of energy in order to reveal his skinny form...but he was known to be a brawler…
The man had caught sight of you and, with a large smile, waved at you. Your eyes widened in horror.
Before you knew what was happening, you were running towards the hero, yelling at the top of your lungs.
"¡¿Que carajaro le paso a tu goldura bello! ¡¿Quien te hizo esto?! ¡Estas tan desperdiciado! Como pudiste ser tan inconsiderado de ti mismo. Tenias que venir directo a donde mi, te hubiera volvido a tu ser usual en menos nada! Esto es lo que te pasa cuando te pones a peliar en vez de defender, idiota. Ven te voy a dar tanta comida que nunca mas vas a poder volver flaco otra vez! Como pudiste dejar que esto pasara... "
As you approached, Fat froze, out of shock or fear, you weren’t sure. “___, you okay? I can’t understand you, you’re not speaking Japanese. What’s wrong? Why aren’t you using your quirk?”
Your quirk was languages. After listening to a native speaker only a few times, you were able to speak the language perfectly yourself. It’s how you managed to get by in a whole new country. But when you got angry, you lost control and reverted to your own native language.
Once you’d reached the hero, you started inspecting him, poking at the large hoodie. Not a bit of fat left...in fact it was all muscle...shaking your head, you glared up at Fat Gum, momentarily regaining control of your quirk. “What happened?”
He shrugged, which only infuriated you more. “I told you I had a mission and the situation called for the full extent of my quirk. And before you say anything about brawling, there was a bomb; I had to absorb the explosion before people got hurt.”
The next part came out with a chuckle. “Y’know, I don’t think I’ve ever heard your accent so thickly before…your quirk normally masks it so well.”
Scowling, you replied, “That’s because you’ve never seen me angry before. ¡Vamos!”
With that, you grabbed him and started dragging him into your restaurant, grumbling the whole time.
"Idiota, te tienes que cuidar mas. ¡¿Y si un villano te encuentra asi! AHH!?, estarias indefenso ."
You ignored the bystanders gaping at you; they seemed to know better than to interfere though. There was something about an angry boricua that made others cringe in fear. Even Fat Gum accepted what was happening and stopped struggling.
Once inside, you started barking orders at your employees.
“Start preparing everything on the menu. And I mean everything! I want alcapurrias, todas las empanadas, sorullitos, emparedados, bacalaitos, tostones, las entradas y postres también! ¡Ahora!”
Knowing better than to argue with you, your staff got to it. Placing Fat Gum at a table in the back, you told him to stay, whether in Japanese or Spanish, you weren’t sure. But he seemed to get the message. With a stern nod, you waved one of your waiters over to get his drink order. While they did that, you went and closed the door, locking it. No one was coming in until you got this sorted.
With that, you rushed into the kitchen, putting up your hair and grabbing your apron. You were going to make sure your gordo precioso was going to get the best there was out of this restaurant.
You served him all of his favorites and more. You started with the aperitivos, then onto las entradas. You swelled with pride at the look on his face when you brought out the pernil relleno con mofongo. This wasn’t a special you served normally. You also went all out with arroz con gandules and arroz amarillo con habichuelas.
After that, you moved onto desserts. Guava cakes, bizcocho de batata borinquen, flan in almost every flavor, tembleque, arroz con coco; even guava empanadas.
It was hours before you finally stopped bringing out food. Watching as he finished the last of the desserts, you nodded in approval. He was finally looking like his proper self.
“Feeling better, Fat Gum?” Though still kind of thick, your accent had lessened considerably now that you’d managed to regain full control of your quirk.
The BMI hero looked up at you, his usual large grin back on his face. “Greatly. And please ___, call me Taishiro, even Toshi.”
Your mouth dropped open. “B-but I thought first names were reserved for those close to you in Japanese culture. Forget nicknames.”
“Yes. And you have definitely earned that right. In fact, ___,  I have a very important question to ask you.” The grin suddenly disappeared from his face as he stood up, towering over you. But you didn’t have time to process the look before he suddenly dropped to one knee, his big hands grabbing hold of one of yours, practically making it disappear. .
“Will you marry me?”
Wait...what?!
~~~~~~~
A/N2: Please note that I though I was able to do the foods and such on my own, I had help with the large translations. Here are the English translations as I originally wrote them; the foods you can either ask me or Google.
-  What the hell happened to your beautiful fat? Who did this to you?! You look wasted away! How could you be so reckless?! You should have come straight to me, I would have gotten you back to your normal self in no time...this is what you get for being a brawler...you’re coming with me, you idiot. I’m going to feed you and make it so you’ll never be skinny again. That you could let such a thing happen…
-  Idiot, you need to take care of yourself. What if a villain caught you like this, huh? You’d be defenseless…
Thank you for reading!

BTS Reaction: You Love Musical Theatre
Jin:
He handed you the envelope he’d held onto for weeks, a huge smile was on his face as you opened the seal, pulling out two tickets to the theatre show that had just begun.
“Are you serious right now?” You giggled, looking at both the tickets to see where you’d be sat, right at the front of the stalls.
“I wanted to do something nice seeing as you’ve been so busy recently,” he smiled, feeling your arms wrap around him.
Your lips pressed to his cheeks, “this is the best gift you could have ever given me, thank you so much Jin, I really wanted to go and watch this one as well.”
He nodded, “I knew you did; it took a lot to get tickets, but eventually I managed to get some, we’ll head down there in a couple of weeks.”
“Those two weeks cannot come soon enough,” you laughed, cupping either side of his face, “you’re amazing, I don’t deserve your kind heart sometimes.” “Yes you do,” he assured you, pressing a kiss to the tip of your nose, “you’ve worked hard, and you need some time off to relax and enjoy yourself.”
“This will definitely do just that.”
Tumblr media
Yoongi:
When he handed you control of the music in the car, he knew he was in for a long trip, when he watched you place the Hairspray soundtrack DVD into the player.
“How’s this one for you?” You asked him as Good Morning Baltimore began to play, sniggering as his eyes rolled, turning to face you.
“It’s not the worst one, there could be worse,” he chuckled, smirking as you began to sing along with all the lyrics out of the window.
He couldn’t believe how invested you were into it, screaming out loud, “whenever you want to join in, just slide into the song Yoongi, I know you love it really.”
His eyes rolled, “I like it, but I don’t know the lyrics, you’ll have to teach me them all one day when we’ve got a bit of time on our hands to sit and listen.”
“You’re joking, but I love it that much I can teach you all of the lyrics if you want to,” you assured him, resting your hand across onto his arm.
“Perhaps that wasn’t such a good suggestion,” he groaned, leaning back in his seat, “you just enjoy it for yourself for now, I’ll learn to love it one day.”
“You’ll be obsessed soon enough.”
Tumblr media
Hoseok:
The two of you were in stitches as you danced around to Hamilton in the living room, neither of you could control yourselves, falling onto the sofa on top of each other.
“We’d never get a job at the theatre,” you laughed, trying to push Hobi off of the top of you whilst he tried to stop himself laughing.
“I was made for the stage,” he challenged, throwing his arms into the air, “musical theatre is perfect for me, I’m dramatic enough to be a star.” Your head nodded,” you’re not wrong, you’d be perfect for theatre, only you’d probably start giggling halfway through your lines and mess things up.”
He refused to agree with you, “could you imagine me in Les Mis, when the deaths happen, I could do all the gasping, sound effects would be where I’m good.”
“You’d be perfect for sound effects, they’d hire you in an instance,” you assured him, as your laughter began to die down, the two of you realised what was going on.
“I have no idea what just happened,” he sighed, rolling off your body, laying down on the floor as he tried to catch his breath.
“It’s all musical theatre fun.”
Tumblr media
Namjoon:
As the music of the Phantom of the Opera played behind you as you cooked, Namjoon’s ears focussed on the music, the lyrics particularly caught his attention.
“Musical theatre certainly has some incredible songs,” he mumbled, watching as you sorted everything out in the kitchen.
“It’s all part of the appeal, that’s why I fell in love with it,” you replied. You could tell as you watched him, he was in deep thought about things.
He nodded lightly, “I’d love to write for musical theatre one day, that would be so cool, they’re the kind of songs that people remember for such a long time.”
You smiled across at him, watching as he began to type into his phone, “I think that you could one day, you’ve got the skills to write for it, a proper love song would be perfect.”
“I could never write as good as these songs though, they’re something else, now I see why you tried to get me to listen to it for so long,” he chuckled.
“Because I knew you’d like it,” you reminded him, poking out your tongue, “you should have listened to me from the start when I told you about it.”
“Yeah, maybe you were right.”
Tumblr media
Jimin:
You could barely contain yourself as you walked down the aisle to find your seats at the theatre, Jimin loved seeing you so happy, sitting himself down beside you.
“Excited?” He asked, to which you quickly nodded your head. “Did I do a good job bringing you here? I thought you’d like it.”
“You did an amazing job, any show would have been great, but Rock of Ages is a personal favourite of mine,” you encouraged, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
He smiled widely, “do you want to know a secret? This is my first ever musical theatre show? I don’t really know what to expect from this.”
You rested your hand over his, “I promise you will really enjoy it; it won’t take long for you to start singing and dancing, it’ll be like a BTS concert.”
“I like the sound of that,” he chuckled, taking a good look around, “although, not to brag, we definitely play to slightly bigger crowds than this.”
“That’s definitely bragging,” you whispered into his ear, as his eyes rolled, “but I guess being such a worldwide superstar, you’re allowed to say that.”
“I definitely am.”
Tumblr media
Taehyung:
He couldn’t hide his smile when the We Will Rock You soundtrack began to play out as you prepared yourself for date night, staring at his reflection in the mirror.
“Enjoying yourself?” You asked him as he began to lip sync along, acting out every word as if it were him on the stage performing, making you smile.
“Don’t you think I’d be good in theatre? I’m ready for my calling.” He told you, remaining in character, glancing only briefly at the smile on your face.
Your head shook, “I don’t even know what to say to you right now, I’m just enjoying the moment,” you chuckled, grabbing onto your phone to try and record his performance.
His hand came across, snatching it from you, “I’m an actor, you don’t record actors at the theatre, so why would you film me? It’s not fair to just film me.”
“Perhaps because we’re in our bedroom, not the theatre, without a crowd” you teased, trying to fight him for your phone back.
“One day I’ll be on the stage and you’ll regret saying that, trying to take photos of me to show how big a star I am.”
“You can dream Tae.”
Tumblr media
Jungkook:
Your hands tapped onto the steering wheel along to the music, Jungkook looked across at you, watching you get into the music of The Lion King that played.
“Why don’t you be Nala, and I’ll be Simba?” Jungkook suggested, smiling as your eyes glanced over at him, your head shook in response.
“Nala barely has any lines, you’ll be doing most of the singing,” you groaned, watching his shoulders shrug, and his smirk grow.
He blew a kiss across to you, “technically I am the singer in this relationship, you can be Pumba if you want to be, I reckon you could do a good job of that.”
Your head continued to shake, “you’re horrible to me, don’t ruin The Lion King for me now too, I’ve already dealt with that when we listened to Hairspray the other day.”
“I thought that suggesting you be Amber was a great idea, it’s not my fault you said no,” he reminded you, he loved seeing you get so wound up.
“You said that Namjoon should be Tracy, you thought Namjoon would be a better Tracy than me, it’s offensive,” you scolded, turning away from him.
“It’s alright, Amber’s the pretty one.”

i watched dracula's curse (2002) and it’s so bad that it’s almost good
Okay, I’m not going to divide it into what was good about this adaptation and what was bad because a lot of it is Good Because Bad (i.e. hilarious), so here’s what I can say about it in general (under read more, since I accidentally wrote a lot):
It’s an Italian-German 2002 TV miniseries and it’s a modern!AU. The events take place in the early 2000′s in Budapest and partly in Romania
The special effects are not even early 00′s cinema, it’s early 00′s TV. Dracula transforming into animals and the way the Brides fly are particularly funny to watch
The acting is... not good. For the most part, the actors can manage when the camera zooms on them, but when there’s a lot of them on screen at the same time, it is often clearly visible that some of them are just. Standing there.
Nevertheless it’s kinda cute??? It has all the characters, and they love each other the way they’re supposed to.
The story begins at some charity gala in Budapest with Jonathan (an American businessman) proposing to his Italian girlfriend Mina, then their friends Lucy, Arthur, and Quincey arrive (Jonathan invited them because he’s been planning the wedding in secret). Seward they all meet for the first time at the gala, and by the end of the evening he’s already roaming the streets hand in hand with the rest of them, drunk and singing. It’s adorable and probably the closest thing to the OT6 That We Deserve I will ever see on screen. I couldn’t take a normal screenshot but just so that you get the vibe:
Tumblr media
Here, have a tipsy Lucy smooching a tipsy Mina on the shoulder too:
Tumblr media
And then at night Lucy falls when sleepwalking, and all of them (including Seward, who stays the night with these awesome people he just met) fuss over her, and it’s pretty cute too
Tumblr media
(in case you’re wondering if that’s Quincey wearing the least amount of clothes, of course it’s him)
Van Helsing is an Italian doctor called Enrico Valenzi and he’s kinda hot
Tumblr media
Dracula goes by Mr. Tepes and looks young in Budapest, where he first meets Jonathan and his friends. In Transylvania, he looks old and pretends to be the uncle of Mr. Tepes. He can walk by day, apparently, but he doesn’t show up in the mirror. There’s a scene in which he meets Jonathan and Co. at the opera, stands right in front of a mirror, and none of them notice he has no reflection
When Jonathan arrives at the Romanian border and tells the Romanian guards he’s there to sell real estate to a Romanian citizen, they laugh at him saying that no one in Romania has any money to buy houses, and then aim a gun at him? Okay???
Jonathan’s car breaks and he gets beaten up by some locals for no reason (*venomous sarcasm* nice Eastern European representation! wow!!! *venomous sarcasm over*), and then “uncle Tepes” picks him up in an actual horse-driven carriage. I remind you, this is a modern!AU.
Everything in the “uncle’s” castle looks like it’s still 19th century at least. Jonathan forgets his luggage in the car, so Dracula offers him to pick a change of clothes from the ones available in the guest room, and it’s all, like, frilly shirts and old-time waistcoats and cravattes and top hats
Dracula wears a Bela Lugosi-style black cloak. It’s probably supposed to look menacing, but against the 21st century backgrounds it just looks comical
Lucy isn’t dating any of the suitors at the beginning of the story. She asks Arthur if he would marry her after Dracula starts drinking her blood, because she feels scared for the reasons she cannot understand or explain, and wants to have him by her side, but in the beginning they’re just friends (though it’s made clear that he’s been in love with her for some time). She and Quincey make some sex jokes, but in general they’re just bros (also, when she and Arthur and Quincey arrive at the gala, all three of them dance together, I loved that). She lowkey flirts with Seward when they first meet, but they’re just friends too.
Jonathan and Lucy have some nice friendship moments! During that drunken roaming around Budapest, there’s a moment when Jonathan shows his friends his new car, Lucy jumps in immediately, and they drive around and almost crush it. When Lucy is in the hospital after the first attack, Jonathan, who has already escaped from Dracula’s castle and been to hospital himself, pleads her not to meet with Tepes anymore, begs her forgiveness for introducing her to him, and kisses her on the forehead with tears in his eyes. In general, all friendships are pretty sweet, even though everyone (except for Mina, Van Helsing, and maybe Seward) is a little more of a dick than in the novel.
In particular, Jonathan is a bit of a dick in the beginning, lowkey obsessed with earning more money and stuff, but his Romanian experience makes him evaluate his priorities
Arthur here is a lot like Marius in Les Mis. I won’t elaborate
Quincey’s doing some money swindles and being all “Fuck the law! The most important thing is to get rich!” but he’s not, like, a total bastard, he’s still likeable enough
When Lucy’s dying at the hospital, she briefly regains her human self and asks Van Helsing to keep Arthur safe and give her peace :(
Dracula walks up the wall (not even climbs, just walks up the wall. Gravity? Hasn’t heard of her) on his way to attack Mina, and it looks HILARIOUS
Renfield is there, but he kind of does nothing. We just see him twice talking about his Master, and that is all, it isn’t shown what happens to him afterwards.
The Brides aren’t killed in the end (the only time we see them is when they’re trying to seduce/feast on Jonathan). When Dracula yells at them for touching Jonathan, they huddle together for protection, which is kinda sweet. They look like an early 00′s Russian pop girl band (trust me on that)
Tumblr media
Quincey dies when the men come to Dracula’s house in Budapest to purify the earth in the boxes - he rushes to protect Arthur, and Dracula breaks his neck :(
Have I mentioned that the special effects are Horrible because I just remembered the scene in which a thousand rats come together and turn into Dracula and it looks so damn funny
I loved it that at first Arthur keeps refusing to listen to Van Helsing’s vampire hypotheses, but after Quincey’s death and Mina’s blood baptism, when Van Helsing sinks into despair and thinks that everything is lost, it is Arthur who begs him not to lose hope
Mina is the one to kill Dracula. She hides a stake on herself, and when he comes to her at night and takes her into his arms, she drives it through his heart. At the end of the movie, is is shown that the vampire bite is still on her neck while Ominous Music is playing, so it is left ambiguos if she’s going to become a vampire anyway. I’d say she isn’t, because during the last scenes (Quincey’s funeral), she’s in the church and feels fine there, but then again, Dracula here has a Holy Bible in his library which I don’t think he did in the book, so the vampire lore is all over the place.
In conclusion: a wild ride, very trashy, but also fun and has the same everyone-loves-each-other vibe as the book, so I’m willing to forgive some things.

How and when did you get into M*A*S*H? Also, I just saw your All That Jazz post and wondered what is your favourite musical?
i’m very new to mash! i started watching in early november after seeing some beejhawk posts on tumblr. i thought, huh, what else have i got to do? so i watched it, became obsessed and the rest is history... hard to believe that it’s been less than five months.
the musical question is HARD... i come from a family that loves musical theater and i grew up doing shows at school & community theaters, along with listening to soundtracks constantly. i think i’m gonna break this down into a few categories, if that’s okay with you.
the most formative musical for me is les mis. in so many ways it is just the peak. you’ve got the epic story with intense highs and lows, complicated characters, incredible redemption arcs and non-redemption lines, and great music of course -- the moments when the themes and harmonies come together still are so breathtaking to me. and i have so many good memories of being a really little kid and acting out parts of the soundtrack with my sister (our favorite was the scene with the bishop, do NOT ask me why).
on the other hand, natasha, pierre & the great comet of 1812 is something that i feel like i discovered on my own, and kind of became an evangelist for it in my small circle. the music is really eclectic and the writing is in some ways avant-garde in a way that felt new and exciting to me, while still really honoring the traditions of musical theater. i got to see it a couple times and the staging just blew my mind, i had never seen anything like it, that tested my ideas of what a musical could look like and how the audience could become an active part of it.
our final category: the musical i actually listen to the most. these days it’s company, which i came to relatively late compared to some former high school theater nerds. just in the last few years i’ve come to really appreciate it beyond the show-stopping numbers, and now i see so much of life in it, so many layers and stories piled on top of each other. i really feel like i see company in every story that i love, and vice versa.

some get to know you questions! -what was the last book you read, the one you're currently reading, and the next one you want to read? -what show was the one that got you interested in musicals? -favorite color? -one thing that you think is true about the world, even if others might disagree?
Hi anon! Thanks for these :)
-what was the last book you read, the one you're currently reading, and the next one you want to read?
The last book I read was Circe by Madeline Miller, I am currently reading the Iliad as translated by Stanley Lombardo, and as of now I'm planning on reading the Odyssey next!
-what show was the one that got you interested in musicals?
Ok so I have three answers for this:
Cats was the first musical I ever saw. I was 7 or 8 years old and I fell in love with the singing and dancing and everything. And I will never ever accept any Cats slander because of this (for the musical ofc, feel free to go off about the movie)
Les Mis was the next one I saw and the first one I obsessed over (I was 9 or 10). I watched the 10th Anniversary constantly and learned every word to every song, and to this day I will never turn down a chance to watch it
When I was 13, my friend saw Wicked and had me listen to a couple songs from it, and I was immediately hooked and went home and learned them all. I watched the broadway.com vlogs with Lindsay Mendez and started looking into more and more musicals and never really stopped.
-favorite color?
pink!
-one thing that you think is true about the world, even if others might disagree?
I really, honestly believe that people are good. I simply can't get behind the idea that it is human nature to cause suffering or that people are just here and then we die. That kind of world has no hope in it, and that isn't the kind of world I want to be in. I don't understand how people say things like this when it is human nature to create. We have proof of people painting on cave walls, of telling stories to each other, of making music and sharing joy. I have friends who are amazing writers or beautiful artists. I just really think that given the chance, people want to be good and create good things.

A wild 2020 recap post appears!
Stuff I made this year:
Fiction: This was the most I’ve ever written in a year--58k just of stuff on AO3.  By pretty much all measures, disjoint is the best thing I wrote this year.  It’s bonkers long (more than twice the length of my previous longest fic on AO3) and extremely sad, so posting it at the start of lockdown was sure A Choice.  Honorable mention to the seventh day of the seventh month, which I am very fond of even if it was not as beloved by my readership.
Playlists: Some favorites: I’m a little bit scared of what comes after (a playlist for being sweaty about the concept of the afterlife), The Chariot (a playlist for my Stand Up character), CYCLICAL TIME CYCLICAL TIME (what it says on the tin), the slant of the sun (a playlist of songs about different times of day), disjoint (a playlist for the fic), feels like home (oh, you know).
RPGs: We ran superqueeroes twice!  I also submitted Queer and Together at the End of the World to Golden Cobra! I wrote a supplement for Sleepaway!
Other stuff: Presented at a conference!  Finished a dissertation chapter!  Guest lectured twice!  Had basically everything I was working on in the first three months of the year cancelled in the course of 48 hours!  Made a truly frightening amount of sourdough bread!  Chaired a committee!  Survived this year!
Media I enjoyed this year:
Books: Leagues and Legends and The Locked Tomb both brought me a lot of joy this year.
TTRPG: Okay, so I counted and I’ve played nine different games this year (one of which was Blades in the Dark, which I’ve played quite a lot of, but all the others were new).  Sleepaway wins for this year; please play Sleepaway.  Honorable mention to Sexy Battle Wizards, which I have run twice and was utterly delightful both times.
Video games: “Queenie, a video game section????” you exclaim.  Yes, it’s true, under lockdown the roommates and I started playing video games together, so I’ve actually played (well, yelled encouragement at whoever was driving) a bunch of games this year!  Mutazione was absolutely hands down the best (friendship! gardening! shamanism! exploration of trauma!), with Sunless Skies in second.  Honorable mentions to Deltarune, Oxenfree, Spacewalk, and Night in the Woods.
Manga/comics: JJL................................
Fanfic: God, okay, there are so many, but, in no particular order: everything written for our Sleepaway campaign, rip to orpheus but i’m different (Hadestown), I don’t live today (JJBA), Impatient to Be Free (Les Mis), Mercy and Augustine’s Cake Simulator! (The Locked Tomb), women want me. fish fear me (FFXV), your name, safe in their mouth (MDZS), Out of the Bin and Into Your Heart (MDZS), dialect (JJBA), plan all your moves in advance (Evil Dead), for now, this (TGCF; I actually wanna rec like everything this author has written), New York and London, 1880-2010 (JJBA), the soft animal (MDZS), a landscape in miniature (TGCF), full speed, got my heart on my sleeve (TGCF), and many, many more but this is honestly getting pretty long already...
Films: I watched Knives Out and Parasite in theatres in January and they were really representative of the energy of this year.
TV: Tian Guan Ci Fu.  It’s good y’all.
Podcasts:  My podcast list grows ever longer...  Favorite this year: The Penumbra Podcast, with honorable mentions to Within the Wires, Rusty Quill Gaming, and Unseen.  A special “fascinated by this conceptually but haven’t heard enough to have a developed opinion” nod to In Strange Woods.
Music: Due to losing my commute, I didn’t really listen to many full albums this year, so a lot of my listening trends seem super fragmented.  According to Spotify, my top song for this year was “The Ghost on the Shore” by Lord Huron.  Top album was probably 夏草が邪魔をする.  Weirdly, it’s really hard for me to think of top songs/artists this year--looking at my Spotify playlist it’s a mix of songs on writing playlists (or on playlists that folks made for our Sleepaway campaign) and then songs that I just obsessively looped for a few days.  It was a weird year.
and finally…
Not so good stuff that happened this year:
y’all do I even need to include this section
I will say that when I was little I expected to be married and have kids by 2020 (I had Big Plans for this year) so this has just been like. a wildly surreal year in every dimension.  I was gonna write a blog post about it but writing is hard and feeling emotions silently and never having to shape them into something that can be conveyed with human language is easy (sorry to any future historians hoping to read my blog as a primary source)
Anyway, あけおめ!!! 良いお年を!!!

QUESTION OF THE DAY #13: a) What was the first musical you ever loved, and b) What was the musical that got you invested in internet theatre culture? It’s okay if they’re the same.
MY ANSWER: a) Dreamgirls followed closely by Hairspray thanks to their movie adaptations, but as far as stage productions go How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying was the first one to really inspire me, b) probably Wicked
SUMMARY OF ANSWERS: so i realized that question a inspired a wide variety of answers, the most popular being Wicked, Hamilton, Les Mis, and Sound of Music. for question b, we had a lot of similar answers, the most popular being Hamilton (around 16/37). other popular ones for question b were Heathers, Les Mis and Wicked. that said, there was a wide variety of other shows too. read them all below the cut!
Anonymous said: Qotd: For the first question either wicked or be more chill (I was 13 and in a stem school with no theater program) and maybe heathers for internet culture.
Anonymous said: i think what got me into musicals would be matilda! my family went to west end while i was then completely clueless about what musicals were so watching matilda like. opened my eyes to musicals! though the first musical i really got into would probably be Hamilton? generic, i know but it was all people were talking about then and the fandom was considerably better back then so i got into it!
Anonymous said: Les mis. I saw the National tour and I fell in love with both the show and musical theatre in general. And Hamilton was what got me into the online community. I was bored and stumbled on it and got sucked in.
zoueriemandzijnopmars said: First musical I ever loved was the studio 100 Doornroosje (Sleeping Beauty in Dutch) musical, it was proshot and I had the dvd (the soundtrack is on Spotify btw). The musical that got me started to get me into internet musical culture was Hamilton.
Anonymous said: a) the first musical i loved was mama mia, and b) the musical that got me invested in internet theatre culture was les mis.
Anonymous said: I would say Wicked for both, but I think Hamilton also contributed significantly to getting me into internet theater culture!!
Anonymous said: first musical i loved was into the woods, but (surprise surprise) hamilton got me into internet theatre culture
vordemtodgefeit said: a) wicked was my gateway musical b) also wicked but I really only engage with a fraction of the fandom so, naturally, it’s les mis
thatbookshelf said: The first musical I was seriously obsessed with was a musical of a Dutch children's book series called 'Kleine Ezel' (Little Donkey) when I was about five years old. Exactly two years ago my friend got me into Hamilton which brought me into the musical theatre fandom.
swoopingsilver said: First Musical I loved: Jekyll and Hyde First musical that got me on the Internet: Dear Even Hansen
gaysnekchild said: The first musical I ever loved was Be More Chill, the musical that got me into musicals was Heather's
Anonymous said: If we're sticking to live theatre, the first musical I loved was Hamilton. If we're counting movie musicals, it was The Sound of Music by far. Hamilton was my gateway into internet theatre culture but Starkid, ITH and Hadestown are what got me stuck here.
galactic-greens said: Probably Mary Poppins, we had this dvd player that I'd take on road trips and just watch it over and over. But what really introduced me to broadway was Hamilton
a-terrible-pun said: question of the day: the sound of music was the first musical i loved, and les mis got me into the musical internet culture.
Anonymous said: Hamilton
Anonymous said: im not ashamed to say that hamilton was the first musical that i actually got into and got me interested in musical theatre, but there are some other ones like musical movies or something that i watched as a kid that i liked too
a-walking-meme said: I don't remember if the first musical I loved was Grease or Mamma Mia bc I used to watch those with my mom but the one that got me involved was Book Of Mormon ✨
Anonymous said: a) Grease b) Hamilton
Anonymous said: Hairspray was the first musical i’ve loved and wicked got me into internet Stan culture
elicardashyanpetermaximoff said: A) Heathers B) Rent
Anonymous said: I grew up watching Jacob and the Technicolor Dreamcoat and other movie musicals. However, I wasn't really aware of musical theatre until I was fourteen, and that was because of Les Mis. Les Mis made me fall in love with musical theatre, and I really began to understand and appreciate the art form. The musical that got me invested in fandom was Anastasia. I've loved this show since 2017, and I've met some of my dearest friends because of it.
Anonymous said: 1. Wizard of Oz 2. Be More Chill
sixthstringserenade said: The first musical I ever loved was Les Miserables. And the show that got me invested in theatre culture was either Avenue Q or POTO. Let’s just say Ramin Karimloo was my gateway-drug to theatre.
Anonymous said: a) Hamilton, b) Newsies
Anonymous said: The first musical I loved was les mis (it was my high school's musical my freshman year) but the first musical that really got me into musical theater culture was next to normal, which is still one of my favorites
sheepskinjacketclan said: i guess technically the first musical i loved was singin in the rain, since it was probably one of the first films i ever saw and its a classic in my family, but the first stage musical i ever loved and the thing that got me into musical theatre was Wicked when i was like 10. It sort of got me into internet theatre culture, if you count finding friends by commenting your obnoxious pre pubescent opinions on every wicked related youtube video in 2010 as internet culture.
Anonymous said: Wicked for both!
bwaycpunk said: To answer the Q: I ADORED 1776 when I was 10, but the prom musical is literally the reason I'm on Tumblr.
Anonymous said: The Wizard of Oz and the Sound of Music have always been my favorite movies/musicals since I was a little kid, but I think Hamilton or Heathers first got me involved in the online fandom...
pinkwelshdragon said: a) The Lion King in London was my first Broadway show, I saw it when I was very young so I don't remember much. b) I'd heard about Hamilton when it first came about, though I didn't listen to it since it wasn't interesting to me at the time. My friends convinced me to listen to it in 2018 and I fell in love with theatre. It was around the same time as when I was performing in my school's production of Beauty and the Beast, so that helped too.
broadwaybabe1000 said: Ok this is embarrassing but first show I loved is Elf because it was the first 1 I performed in and my first show that got me invested in internet theatre culture is Hamilton.
queenlmno said: So this first show was probably the Sound of Music movie, but first theater show was Newsies. Internet culture was either Newsies or Matilda.
squeak-and-pip said: Hamilton It’s a really basic answer I know
impastomuse said: A) Sunset Boulevard in 1996, and B) Hamilton
nightofheart said: Does the Sound of Music movie count as first musical loved? If not, Hamilton, and Hadestown for the second question :)

another fanfic ask game post! enjoy!
This time I’m doing these questions!
Inspiration and Reading Questions:
1. How long ago did you start reading fanfiction? Writing fanfiction?
Reading: I’m not sure. Maybe 2011/2012
Writing: 2013
2. How do you spend your time when it comes to fanfiction? Are you primarily fic reader, writer, or a perfect 50/50 split of both?
It’s definitely both, but I wouldn’t call it a perfect 50/50 split. It varies. Sometimes I read more, but write less or vice versa.
3. Are there any fics that inspired you to write what you do.
Not really. I usually just write fics for whatever I want to.
4. Link your three favorite fics right now.
Current favorite WIPs.
All That’s Left by @doriangrayscale
flowers for your grave by @grantairesbottle
Lover of the Light by @areyoumiserableyet
Favorite (four) all-time fics
Ask me no question (and I’ll tell you no lies) by Signe_chan
If you offer salvation, I will run (into your arms) by mornmeril
this is fact not fiction by Rianne
Oh, It’s What You Do To Me by captainskellington
5. What are your fanfic pet peeves? Do they have a huge effect on whether or not you decide to read something.
I have a love-hate relationship with slow burn fics. Like I love them because give me the pining, give me the obliviousness, give me the amazing, sweeping first kiss, give me the angst, just give me all the delicious development that comes with finding common ground and falling in love. That being said, however, and I realize that I’m in the minority here, the hate part comes in when the story is really long, let’s 50+ chapters, and the story gets to chapter 50, but the romance still hasn’t started coming into play and I’m starting to just get sick of it because nothing has progressed to romance. Like there gets to be a time where too much is too much and usually, when that happens, it’s time for me to say adios! to the story.
6. How do you find new fic to read? Where do you primarily read fanfiction.
I primarily read fics on Ao3. I loathe FFN.net with every fiber of my being.
I usually just leave the Enjolras/Grantaire category open on and refresh it like three to four times a day for new stories to read.
7. Do you prefer to read short fics or long fics?
It depends on the ship, but I mostly like long fics.
8. How often do you reblog/comment on fics that you like?
I’m absolutely horrid at commenting (I’m working on getting better), but if it’s a story that I really like (ex. the three WIPs mentioned in question 4), I will comment every time there is a new chapter.
9. Tag 3 fic writers you think are underrated/unknown in the fandom/fanfiction community.
I have no idea. In my opinion, I think all writers are underrated and unknown.
10. What’s your favorite fandom, pairing, or character to read fic for?
Enjolras and Grantaire (Enjoltaire) from Les Mis.
Fanfiction Writing Asks:
11. How do you come up with your fic titles?
Through music or quotes. Sometimes one just comes to me, but mostly through music or quotes.
12. Tell the author your favorite fics title of theirs (not the fics, stricktly the title). Author: what’s your favorite title you’ve come up with and why?
I love all the titles of my fics, I can’t possibly pick a favorite.
13. Do you outline your fics? How much of a headache would someone get if they just look at an outline of yours without reading the fic?
I make some sort of outline, but I don’t think they’d really get much of a headache since it’s pretty much just a basic plot, maybe sometimes a little more than that.
14. Do you have personal word minimum that you hold yourself too? Why or why not?
Absolutely not! I write until I think I’ve found a good quitting spot. That can be 500 words or 20k words. It all depends on how I’m feeling and where my motivation is at.
15. Tell the author your favorite fics of theirs. What’s your (the author’s) favorite fic you’ve written?
Forever Was In His Eyes is my favorite with Begin Again as a close second.
Honorable mention because it pushed me out of my comfort zone: Beating of Our One Heart.
16. Do you research your fics? If so, how deep of a rabbit hole have you down by accident while researching?
I only research if the fic absolutely calls for it.
17. How obsessively do you sit and stare at your fic after you’ve just posted and wait for feedback?
On a scale of 1-100, 100. I’m not motivated by feedback like some writers are, but I do love to know if someone is enjoying my fic or not.
18. Do you have WIP that you keep telling yourself that you’ll eventually get back to, but deep down you know that’s probably lie?
Nope. Any WIPs that are unfinished, will probably stay unfinished.
19. Do you edit your fics after you write them, or do you prefer to just post and run (because it’s someone else’s problem now)?
I edit, and then, I’m constantly editing after it’s posted. If I re-read one of my fics and spot a spelling mistake, I can’t just let it sit there, I HAVE to fix it. I am also currently in the middle of long and giant editing project to make sure all my stories are the best stories that they can.
20. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?
Um...I, for some strange reason, love outlining. I love coming up with the sequence of events. How do the characters get from point A to point B. How does the story end.
21. What’s your least favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?
Editing and revising. Always.
22. Do you take fic requests? If so, for what characters and why?
Nope. I don’t get enough attention in my inbox to do that.
23. What’s your absolute favorite trope to write?
Forbidden love. I’ve always been such a sucker for this trope.
24. What’s a trope that you’d like to never hear about as long as you live, let alone write?
I’m sure that there are some tropes that I would never touch in a million years, but I can’t think of any write now.
25. Do you listen to music as your write? If possible, link your writing playlist.
I listen to music, but I don’t have a playlist. Most of time it’s just Taylor Swift.
26. What’s your biggest distraction when writing?
Um...if I’m watching a brand new TV show or one I haven’t watched in a long time, I’ll pay more attention to the screen then what I’m supposed to be writing. This goes for movies too.
27, Do you like to give your readers some warning of what might be coming or just slap them in the face with content at random?
I keep my fics under lock and key until they are finished. No one knows any details about them except me. The one exception to this rule was Beating of Our One Heart. I warned that that fic would feature a polyamorous relationship (something I have never written before) while I was working on the outline.
28. How do you deal with writing pressure (ie: pressure to update, negative comments, deadlines, etc)?
Well, the only pressure I usually feel is worry that people won’t like my story, but I think that’s normal for every writer.
29. Have you ever written for an exchange or event of some kind? Which one(s)?
I don’t write for events.
30. Post a snippet from your current WIP without context - no more than 300 words.
R (11:46 P.M.): I’m not sorry.
31. Of the characters your write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain one?
I love writing Enjolras. I’m sure people who have read my fanfics find him to be OOC, but I don’t care. When I write him, he’s half me projecting and the other half is him being the righteous revolutionary that we know him as.
32. Copy and paste your top three favorite lines/jokes/sentences you’ve ever written. What fics do they come from?
I can’t pick three, I have too many favorites.
33. What do you like writing better: one shots or multi-chapter stuff?
It depends. I like writing both. I also really like writing one shots that are 30k+ and multi-chapter fics that are under 10k. It all just depends on my mood and what the fic calls for.
34. How much of yourself and your life experience do you put into your writing? What do you think your readers’ image of you is?
As stated above, I project onto Enjolras. How much, I’m not saying. I do put my likes and dislikes as the characters’. When I write children, I draw inspiration from my nephews. I use my high school class schedule as the characters’ schedule when I write high school AU’s. The jest of what I’m saying is that I have no idea what my readers’ image of me is.
35. How much has writing fic changed your life?
It’s become my escape when things get too difficult or stressful.
36. Are they any fics or fandoms you’re embarrassed to have written or been apart of?
I’m not embarrassed by it, and I never finished or posted it, but I started writing a Sound of Music fic. I don’t remember what it was about, though.
37. Give an update on your current WIP - if you have one, give a sneak peek to a title or idea that you have and would like to write.
My current WIP is almost done. I just have to finish writing more scene.
38. What does your writing process look like? How chaotic is it on a scale of 1 (very tame) to 10 (you can’t handle this kind of chaos)?
It’s very tame, so 1. I write my stories in order of events, if I don’t I get confused on what’s happen. I start by writing an outline, and then I write and I edit (multiple times) before I post.
39. What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?
That I write what I want to. No comments can really influence the story (unless it’s a consistency thing) because I write the whole thing out before it’s posted.
40. How did you come up with the idea for [x fic]?
You can see this answer right here!
41. What’s your most popular fic (with the most notes on Tumblr, most hits/kudos on Ao3)?
My most popular fic based on hits: Somethings Are Meant to Be.
My most popular fic based on kudos: The Enjolras Guide to Weddings and Love.
42. Asker: pick three of the author’s works. Author: rank them 1 (the best) - 3 (the worst) based on whatever criteria you want - this could be something totally random that isn’t quality related ( like simply ranking fics based on how many trains appear in them) have fun!
I’m skipping this question!
43. Talk about a positive experience with fanfiction or the fanfiction community that you will always remember.
Every comment that I get, especially if I get it when I’m having a bad day, is like a little ray of sunshine for me. Again I’m not motivated by comments or feedback, but I can’t deny that receiving it is like a cherry on top of a delicious hot fudge sundae.
44. Ran about something writing related.
How long it takes to write. I wish I could just connect some sort of machine to my brain, and it would just churn out the words for my fics and they could be done a lot sooner. And that fanfiction could come before homework and life, but alas it can’t.
45. Fic specific questions - if you have any weird questions about specific works, here’s your shot to ask them!
Skipping this one, but if you have a question about any of my fics, my ask box is currently closed, but my DM’s are always open.
