#i was looking up some stuff abt the horrible shit in hs and AHs other work and some of them were on the hs subreddit and i #GRRGRGRGRGRGH LITERALLY FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH AH FANBOYS AND THE 'ohoho freedom of speech means freedom 2 b racist n ableist' TYPE #and it just hit me like oh...... wow #people really think like this #i really dont understand why people are so fucking... unwilling to criticize media #or when they do its for the most inane and backwards reasons #read: captain marvel getting dragged bc marvel fanboys didnt like brie larson when it shouldve been criticized for the us army pandering #like goddd #i dont know #like right now.. i dont even know why im thinking abt these characters again it came on so suddenly im just trying to get it over with quic #its good timing that its exam season and almost the beginning of summer break rn ill be too preoccupied to have this last long #ive just gotta ride it out until it passes again by now ive kinda recognized the cycle #i think it came on in part bc ive been like VERY suicidal ideationy lately and my brain was like what if you fantacized about being loved #and then was also like well what if we revisited one of ur most blindly blissful periods of life before u grew a brain and also sentience #and then it didnt wait for an answer #gonna force myself not to self isolate as much this time hopefully i think thatll help also #.

i absolutely apologize for not realizing you dont like to be called dude and for calling you that! you dont have to respond to this, but you response comes across as really... white to me lmao. i dont rlly care how you take that, wether that be saying i am projecting my race or have brain rot. i didnt mean any of this accusingly or to come across holier than thou. but your relationship with homestruck and racist media may be a bit more forgiving if you’re not black. i didnt know you were aware homestruck was racist, so my original ask was meant to let u know. i absolutely know you dont mean to, but your responses come across as very white and lacking understanding or willing to understand black voices.

i dont agree -- i mean, well, ok, fair, i’m sure my response comes across as white (i am, in fact, white, after all) -- but i don’t know at what point my response comes across as unwilling to listen to/understand black voices -- i think the way i responded, actually, is an unwillingness to respond to badfaith anons who clearly don’t interact with my blog very often.

now, i don’t think you are communicating in badfaith, not after this anon at least but... can you not see why it’s actually pretty normal for me to respond the way i did? like, you clearly don’t know anything about me or my blog (considering that we talk regularly about Homestuck’s problems and have done notably over the last week or so a few times) and in your defense i absolutely do not expect you to but i DO expect you to at least do your damn research if you’re going to randmoly drop criticisms iinto somebody you don’t know’s inbox, anonymously, without really communicating very much

by the way, for what it’s worth, i completely agree with you about Homestuck! it is definitely way more easy to gloss over the racist shit if you’re white, and both the fandom and the source material normalize some pretty racist shit, and that’s absolutely awful. i just think that the way you chose to engage with that is pretty reactionary -- like, you assumed that the three people running this blog were all white (even though you can pretty easily find out otherwise), and then got snippy for like... not listening to the “black voices” of... what, a tumblr anon?

anon i completely get your grievances with Homestuck and its fandom. i agree with you wholeheartedly, even, i just do not think anonymously sending vague messages to anybody who talks about a comic on a social media is a constructive use of either of our time, you know? like... again, you’re an anon. i don’t know you. you incorrectly assumed a bunch of stuff about us, and when i pointed that out, i was criticized. i feel like this is just the normal way for discourse to progress on this website, and that’s fucked up! like, am i the only one who thinks this is a wild way of interacting with other humans?
