You mentioned that you were into a lot of adaptions, reinterpretations, and inspired works of the ancient Greek religion and lore, what are you into as far as the source materials? Are you a fan of the poems, a plays person, or do you prefer the philosophy? I personally started with pjo hyperfixation in elementary to the ancient Greek works in middle school and actually discovered Hadestown, tsoa, and Epic now that I'm in college so I'm curious how that affects what people prefer. I'm mostly a fan of the poems myself, I adore the Iliad and unpopular opinion but I really like the Dionysiaca. Obviously I enjoy the other stuff too, the Odyssey and Posthomerica and Homeric Hymns (Homeric Hymn 2 to Demeter my beloved) but the Iliad was the first one I read so it's always been my fav. I've only recently discovered that there were fans on Tumblr and AO3 for all of those outside pjo in the last couple months so sorry if I sound over eager! I'm just very excited.
Like you I started out with Percy Jackson in elementary! It was actually required reading believe it or not, and I fell in love. Since then I really love the adaptations of Greek Mythology (Epic, Hadestown, PJO musical, Ulysses dies at Dawn) and others such as book retellings like Madeline Millers works Circe and Song of Achilles. Also Jennifer Saints Ariadne, and a couple other books that I’m forgetting right now.
As for more source materials, I of course love reading the Odyssey and Iliad, although I think I lean towards the more moderns translations on those.
I do very much like the plays though! I am a involved a lot in theatre, so it’s inevitable. Medea holds a special place in my heart, as that’s the play I am most familiar with. Honestly, with no prompting, I could launch into a Medea monologue right now. In addition I have read Oedipus Rex (this dude has Problems), a bit of Antigone, and Agamemnon!
I can’t say I’ve read too many other source materials, but anything that mentions Greek Mythology slightly is sure to interest me. (Midsummer Nights Dream had a bit of references to Greek Mythology though I don’t think that counts enough. Also could launch into a Helena monologue)
Overall I would say I just enjoy all of it! I’m definitely looking into reading and learning more, but unfortunately I’ve been busy lately. I love finding people who love the same things though!!!

For the book asks - 12, 15, 18!
Thanks so much!
12. did you enjoy any compulsory high school readings?
Yes! I studied Macbeth for GCSE English and The Crucible for GCSE Drama and I really enjoyed them both. Macbeth still holds a special place in my heart, and I'd really recommend the new A24 adaptation, I loved it
15. recommend and review a book.
The book I'm gonna recommend (because I haven't seen anyone talking about it enough) is My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix
Synopsis:
The year is 1988. High school sophomores Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since fourth grade. But after an evening of skinny-dipping goes disastrously wrong, Gretchen begins to act...different. She's moody. She's irritable. And bizarre incidents keep happening whenever she's nearby. Abby's investigation leads her to some startling discoveries--and by the time their story reaches its terrifying conclusion, the fate of Abby and Gretchen will be determined by a single question: Is their friendship powerful enough to beat the devil?
I loved this book SO MUCH. The two main characters both feel very real, and their relationship is so effective as the driving force of the book. It's surprisingly funny, but the contrast between the comedy and the serious plotline actually works really well and helps it to feel like a really authentic depiction of teenage girls. Like I said, the relationship between the two main characters is very much the strongest part of the book, but I honestly felt like there was never a dull moment in this book, and I'd absolutely recommend it to any horror fans looking for someone fun
18. do you like historical books? which time period?
Yes! I'm going to be studying history at university soon, so historical fiction is a big favourite of mine. I honestly don't really have a favourite period to read from, so here's a few historical books I've read recently with the period they're set in:
• The Final Revival of Opal and Nev by Dawnie Walton - 1970s
• Last Night at The Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo - 1950s
• Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell - 1590s
• Ariadne by Jennifer Saint - Ancient Greece
Feel free to drop some more asks!

Surprise book!
I picked up a book from the library yesterday that was not on my list, but only because I didn't know it existed.
Elektra by Jennifer Saint
And if you think her name sounds familiar it's probably because she is the author of Ariadne.
I went on a bit of a kick last year reading Greek Mythology retellings and that included Ariadne. I quite enjoyed it, and even though I only started it last night I am enjoying Elektra.
The book is told from the prospective of three women, Clytemnestra wife of Agamemnon and sister of Helen. Cassandra of Troy who gains the gift of prophecy and the curse to not be believed. And of course Elektra, the youngest daughter of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra.
I think the story will focus on the war and ultimately the fall of Troy and aftermath from the point of view of the three women. In that way it is slightly reminiscent of A Thousand Ships.

Why must the female lead spurn any and all relationships with men in order for a work to be called “feminist?”
Why does the “feminist” story require her heart to be broken repeatedly just to prove the author’s point?
Is it too much to ask that her story ends in a healthy relationship with a partner who loves and supports her?

I cannot believe it's already March! I would ask where all the time has gone, but if you're anything like me, the time has been spent in the same place for the last year (eesh).
Anyway, I thought I would share my March TBR with you all here. I have around 10 books on it, but honestly I would be thrilled to read 5 of them. I feel a tiny bit of a reading slump coming on, especially after the marathon month of February.
On the list I have a few ARCs I received from NetGalley, a couple books from the Throne of Glass series, and several from my never-ending TBR backlog. My birthday was a few days ago and while I would have loved some books, my shelves are sighing in relief lol.
What books would you like to read this month?
To Love and To Loathe by Martha Waters (ARC, coming out April 6th, 2021). A Regency-era romance about a woman who loves her independence making a wager with her friend that he won't marry within the year. Romance and hijinks ensue.
A Coat of Yellow Paint by Naomi Davis (ARC, coming out April 6th, 2021). A collection of essays about motherhood, life, and remaining balanced in a world that pulls you into 1000 different directions. Written by the creative mind behind the blog Love, Taza.
Ariadne by Jennifer Saint (ARC, coming out May 4th, 2021). A retelling of Theseus, Ariadne and the Minotaur. One of my most anticipated books of 2021. Also the first Goodreads giveaway I've ever won!
Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas. The fifth installment of the Throne of Glass series.
Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas. The sixth installment of the Throne of Glass series (SJM/ToG fans out there- can I buddy read this with the fifth book? Or should I read it afterwards? I know it doesn't necessarily follow the events of the fifth book)
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. A puzzle book following the house of Piranesi and all the twists and turns it contains, as well as Piranesi's exploration of the house and its inhabitants.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab. Addie LaRue sells her soul to the devil in exchange for immortality, but as soon as she moves out of someone's line of sight they forget about her forever.
Just Last Night by Mhairi McFarlane (ARC, coming out May 4th, 2021). Four friends in their thirties have their trust and friendship tested after one event threatens to undo everything they thought they had and known.
Salt to the Sea by Ruta Septys. Historical fiction detailing the tragedies of the sinking of the Wilhelm Gustoff through four fictional yet historically-accurate voices.
The Color of Law by Richard Rothstein. A non-fiction book detailing the rise of segregation in the United States based off of housing laws.
