He couldn't believe it, the myths about reincarnation were true. You, who was once his Lady, his once Lover, of Her. You were right here, except you were a totally different person. But with the face he once loved most. The face he couldn't ever forget. As much as he wanted to be happy to meet you again. He felt a huge amount of guilt. That he couldn't protect his Lady. That if he were to be in the quarters sooner, then he would have prevented Cazador from killing you. It would eat him up so much, he just began to ignore that guilt, even thought he didn't want to.
Astarion was very observant about you, he would pay attention to every small detail of you. How kind you were despite the tadpole in your head. He also noticed the love you had for music and embroidery. Yes, you were just like her. You shared her same traits. Not only that, but you were just beautiful, you shared her same beauty. Both inside and out. He couldn't keep his eyes off you. Astarion had the idea to always have his eyes on you. He didn't want anything to happen to you, even though you knew how to defend yourself. Just the thought of you getting killed gets to him. He didn't take it to an extreme, but he just wanted to keep his guard up.
Whenever he'd have a chance to be alone with you, he'd take it. Always making the time for it, as if he didn't want to be away from you. Ever. He was there when you were given a lute after you helped a lady with her music. He loved to watch you play the instrument. He wouldn't mind listening you for hours, playing that lovely music. When he'd watch you play, you looked just like her when she did. You seemed much more relaxed when playing, your hands weren't shaking as if you were being forced with fear, your fingers bleeding and nails broken. You looked absolutely stunning, she looked absolutely beautiful.
Not only that, but he'd watch you sew. When there was not much to do. You'd sew in your free time. You had some materials in your stuff. Astarion would lurk by and watch you do your handy work. It was beautiful, you were as talented as she was. He remembers when you had found a black velvet coat that would fit him perfectly, so you decided to embryoid him some gold colored peacocks and other kinds of designs on the coat. He loved it. He swore that he'd cherish the garment for the rest of his life. The smile on your face made him happy, specially since you had her same smile.
Another thing that he had caught on. The mark on your left side of the neck. It was two little dark spots, right where the bite would have been. He always wanted to get a better look at it. He knew that she hated that scar, because it was a form of branding by Him. But now it was a birthmark of yours. Proving that you were really her. His one and only love.
It was no secret to you that Astarion was basically following you around like a lost puppy. At first you thought it was harmless, but the more you thought of it, the more you realized that this was becoming something than just a man trying to be friends with you. Did he want to be more than friends? You have noticed his strange behavior towards you, as if, you reminded him of someone he used to know. As weird as it seemed, you didn't want to be seen as rude towards him, but you also knew that there was more than just him following you around.
Tumblr media
"Astarion? Can I talk to you?" you asked the male who was busy looking at himself in a mirror, which was odd of him to do. "Sure, what is it darling." He gave you his full attention. You grabbed his hand and took him away from the camp and into the woods. He had a goofy grin on his face, as if we were about to do more than just talk. When you were in the woods, face to face with him. "What's been on your mind lightly?" you asked him, in which he gave you a confused look. "What are you talking about? I'm completely fine." He said, now getting nervous of what you were about to say.
You sighed. "There is something that is wrong, ever since we met, you've just been tagging along with me. I don't mind at all, but I know that there is something going on." You explained, Astarion felt frozen, you've caught on. Now he'll have to confess to you why he's been acting the way that he has. He didn't know how to break it to you, how to tell you that you're the reincarnation of his once love of his life. Will you hate him? Will you drive a wooden stake into his heart? What would you do? "Astarion? Please tell me what's wrong, I'm willing to listen to you" You encouraged him, now getting worried.
He couldn't hide it anymore, he had to confess to you. Astarion let out a loud sigh as he rubbed his face with both hands. Then he looked at you. "This is going to be weird, but... You, you used to be the woman I fell in love with centuries ago." He confessed, making you raise your brows at him in surprised. You watched how he took out a small piece of paper from his shirt, then he handed it to you. You took the small parchment paper, it was old, but still remained together. Opening the paper, you saw the picture of a woman. Except this woman looks just like you. But she was dressed like a noble woman. Her hair was up adorned with flowers and other hairpins. Earrings and with a slight hint of what you assumed was makeup. She looked beautiful, it was almost as if you were staring at a picture of yourself.
"That woman, she was you in past." He added, you heard the sadness in his voice. You looked at him, seen the sad look in his eyes. You only nodded, looking back at the picture of your past life. "I understand now. Why you've grown some interest in me and why you're always so protective." You said while looking at the drawing. "I knew I should have done something, I wished I was there sooner that you wouldn't of died." Astarion whimpered out. In the verge of tears. You got close to him, putting the picture back in his shirt and you placed your hands on his cheeks. "It's okay, it's not your fault." You tried to explained to him. "But it was, you got killed and I wasn't there." He cried out, tears rolling down his cheeks.
You cleaned his tears with your thumbs, as he began to sob in sadness. "Astarion, Its not your fault." You said comfortingly. All Astarion could do was cry. "It's not your fault." You explained to him, then he fell to his knees, still in tears. "It's not your fault." You repeated as you hugged him close to your stomach as his arms wrapped his arms around your waist. "It's not your fault." You said again, stroking his soft hair. All he could do was cry, this guilt has been eating him up for days. He felt as if he was dying. He finally got to be able to express his feelings. As much as he didn't want to be seen like this, he just couldn't help it.
"I'm sure that she would've understood. She knows that you would have done anything to protect her." You tried to reason with him, but he was still in denial. "I would have done anything to save you. To make sure that you were safe from him." He said, as he continued to sob. As much as you didn't want to disappoint him, you just had to. For his sake. "I'm not her." You said to him, this made him look up at you. His eyes were red swollen red and filled in tears. You gave him a sadden look. "You're not her?" H asked, almost confused. "I'm not her." You told him more sternly. The more he looked at you, the more of her appearance began to fade. He began to see less of her and more of you. Yeah you might have shared the same face, but you had your own features.
Your small facial scars were more visible, the shape of your nose was way more different than hers, as well as the shape of your face, and hair. But what didn't really change were your age, except the color of them. They were alive then they were did. The more he looked at you, the more changes he saw of you. You were right, you weren't her, anymore. You were you. Astarion got up from the dirt floor, still looking at you in the eyes, with tears still remaining in his eyes. "I see now, you're not her. At least not anymore." He told you. He sighed, wiping his tears away. "I need some time to think." He said, giving you a small smile. You gave him a small smile in return. Then he turned away, leaving deeper into the woods.
Once alone, Astarion was sitting near a riverbank, thinking about what just happened. He was too blind to see, he was asphyxiated of the thought of you being her. You were, once, but now you weren't. You were a completely different person and it took him forever to realize that. It felt refreshing. He no longer felt that huge amount of guilt he had build up, but that wasn't it. He needed to do something else to completely be free from the guilt.
Back at the camp, everyone was asleep, except for you and him. You were both standing in front of the bonfire. "Are you sure you'll do it? You don't have to if you don't want to." You told him. Astarion was holding the old picture. "No, I have to. Or else I'll never truly be free from this guilt." He said, as if a lump grew in his throat. You only nodded. Then without thinking twice, he threw the small paper at the fire. Slowly burning away, the once parchment paper had now become ashes. You saw the look of hurt in his eyes, but you knew that he was doing what was best for himself, for once.
Tumblr media
Days had passed since that night, Astarion felt all kinds of relief. He no longer felt a heavy weight on his shoulders. He felt much more lighter than most days. He also felt new emotions. More much happier and relaxed. He hasn't felt like in centuries. He felt happy despite Cazador being after him. He thought back of that night where he got a reality check from you. He felt grateful that you had helped him with this. Not only that, but he began to see you. He no longer saw her face, he saw your face. As if it were bran new face he's never seen in his life. That was a good sign. He didn't completely forget of her, but he knew that she would have wanted for him to move on and be happy with someone else.
He had stopped comparing you to her. That meant that he no longer felt the guilt that he had been feeling for decades. Everything that you did, felt new, as if he had never seen someone do the things you did for years. He saw you in a bran new light. Everything about you had began to fascinate him more than ever. But what caught his attention the most was the way you treated those around you, how you were willing to help those in need of helping. But he also saw how kindness wasn't always the answer, and violence would often had to play a role in some situations. You were just an incredible human being. The only person who had somewhat stored his faith in humanity.
Astarion had fallen in love with you, again, but instead of your past life. He was falling for you, and hard. It no longer felt like an obsession as before, but real love. The problem was, that he had no idea what to do with his new found feelings. He had forgot how that feeling felt like many years ago. But he was willing to learn again.
Tumblr media
"Do you have a moment dear? I'd like to speak with you" Astarion got your attention, you nodded and looked right back at him. "What is it?" You asked him, seen the small blush on his cheeks. "I know we didn't have a good start, but. Since that night, I began to grow these new feelings towards you." He explained. "Now I see you, for you. I no longer see her, but you. You're.... you're incredible. You deserve a lot, well at least to me. I would like for something... for us to start something new, something real. But I understand that you wouldn't want to be with me, after what happened in the past." He admitted.
You couldn't help but give him a small smile. "I do want something with you. I've liked you for the last couple months we were together, but I just didn't want our relationship to start with an unhealthy obsession. Because who knows what might have happened if it started that way." You explained. You saw the look of guilt her had, but he quickly added to the sentence. "But I've changed, I've realized that I fell in love with you. And I again, apologize for that, I really am." He said, you could hear the sound of his voice, how he was actually sorry and felt guilty for that. "I know you did. I trust you." You said, then you took his hand into yours. Feeling his cold skin against your warmth.
Astarion couldn't help but smile, taking both your hands into his. Feeling your warm embrace. "I... like this." He said, with an almost shy smile. "But, I honestly don't know what we're doing." He said with a small chuckle. "I know where we could start." You said with a smile. "Oh? And what would that be?" he asked with a grin. Then you got close to him and wrapped your arms around his waist. Astarion's arms were spread. Not sure on how to react, but he followed your lead. Also hugging you back, pulling you as close as possible to him. It felt good, being able to move from the guilt, to fall in love again.

Ok so I’ve been drawing fanart since middle school across all of my art accounts, but today I think I’m finally going to share my own characters and I’m SO SO excited
Tumblr media
EVERYONE! ID LIKE YOU TO MEET VANESSA! She’s been my oc since grade school, which was 12 years ago now…
Jesus Christ anyways -
I’m so happy to finally be able to share her and her friends and story. She actually used to be a Teen Titans OC but I got too attached to her own story so I made her my own.
Tumblr media
I don’t want to get into too much detail over her on my first oc post so I’ll just share some basic facts and designs.
Her designs had changed ALOT past the decade but she’s been the star of this massive story. And I’m really and finally happy with this design. She’s more of a closed type, but put her with the right person and those walls will CRASH AND BURN to the ground.
A total nerd at heart, but tough on the outside to put that “macho and not bothered by shit” persona.
Tumblr media
Vanessa isn’t human, surprise surprise but she has human friends!
But the gem imbedded in her neck isn’t what makes her Alien, in fact the other humans in her group have this power giving Crystal on the same spot.
Each have different abilities but Vanessa’s is a lil unique from the rest. While the others can harness a basic universal element (earth, fire, water, air type thing) Vanessa has a fifth element that she can’t quite control, it’s deeper than something spiritual but definitely god-given.
And because she can’t fully control her abilities, her strong emotions cause bursts of dangerous energy.
Tumblr media
Like I said before I’m not gonna get too deep in backstory right now but her scar was given to her at just age 6, been blind in her right eye ever since.
(Sometimes her friends purposely take advantage of this to prank her)
And due to this accident her right eye has a lazy eye effect.
She’s got a lot of non-human traits, but my personal fave is her pointy ears! When she’s really angry or happy her rounded ears will stretch to a point for a good amount of time. Vanessa hates it sometimes because it exposes her when she’s trying to be emo or conceal something embarrassing.
Ryan: “You really likin that game I got you huh?”
Vanessa: “No.”
*slight stretch noise*
Ok I know I said no backstory but I have to share this one too!
Vanessa isn’t the only one in her family, she has a big brother named Korin, and in her first 3 tragic years he was the one who took care of her and protect her.
Tumblr media
HERES SOME MORE SKETCHES OF HER
I hope that you guys like her, cause I rly want to share her story with you guys 💕 AND FEEL FREE TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT HER

The Fallen Star ✨
A Wish rewrite
Cielo design 💛
The boy is here! The most ever! The Fallen Star’s very own Starboy!
So I lied and don’t have the finalized designs for King Maggie or Queen Ams yet soooooo *throws confetti at you* take this Starboy reimagining in the meantime!
Eugh boy the name gave me trouble. I didn’t want to use Aster since that’s the name of a a couple popular Starboys already (@annymation/@gracebeth3604/ @mythartist21) and while the Greek name is cool, I wanted something a bit different.
SEE-EH-LO, for anyone wondering. He/they pronouns <3
I was heavily considering choosing Estrella and making Starboy a Stargirl, and then we’d have a gay romance. But this is supposed to be SOMEWHAT of a homage to early Disney. This may not be KoW, but… idk. Cielo is a gender neutral name. Literal manifestation of light. Go ahead and draw them as a female-presenting figure and it’s still TFS!canon~
Aaaaaaanyways. Here’s the actual rewrite!
Tumblr media
First of all! Cielo is NOT the Northern Star! He’s a baby star like… in the bottom right
However, the Northern Star? Evangeline? Yeah, she’s gonna be in my rewrite
But Cielo is NOT her
For now I’ll just say Evangeline is sort of a mentor-figure to Cielo and leave it at that
So not all stars are wishing stars, and similar to Kingdom of Wishes, a wishing star is born when first wished upon
Once a wishing star fulfills their first wish, they become Stars (capital S), and are free to help anyone that needs it
The more wishes a Star fulfills, the more powerful they become
Idk maybe it’s like a Rise of the Guardians thing, where the more people that believe, the stronger your magic is
Sparkles and hope and glitter and shit
Until, as explained in my rewrite… the Stars grew bored and started simply granting wishes
Then people grew lazy and started demanding wishes
And all this belief made the Stars go overpowered
Basically it became Wonderland, everything coming true, kingdoms burning and villages destroyed
Yeah. So Magnus god rid of them eventually
Though who would suspect that it would be the king’s own daughter that would bring back his greatest fear?
Yep, Asha brought Cielo down
Not purposely, but even if she had done it purposely, she wouldn’t have chosen Cielo
He’s a little baby, a dwarf star maybe
Only ever gotten one wish in his life…
Huh never seen that before *side eyes KoW*
Tumblr media
Personality traits
Optimistic
Very Anna-coded
Probably ADHD tbh (autism x adhd duo unite)
Stubborn
HE’S the quirky Disney princess
Although more Flynn than Raps
Tumblr media
Backstory
Fuck around and find out
(And by fuck around I mean wait for my rewrite to come out bc I haven’t slept in two days and I’m too tired to articulate their story accurately)
Design
Tumblr media
Due to popular demand, Cielo now has the Charlie Morningstar cheek thingies
Also @gracebethartacc got an ask about canon!Star being marketed with a star over their right eye so… vitiligo mark, anyone?
Yeah I don’t have many colored refs but basically Cielo’s star eye mark and cheek thingies turn into vitiligo marks when in their “human form”
Uh take this
Tumblr media
Ye sort of like this^
Heart shaped face! His part is also supposed to resemble a “V” shape to make the top of the heart
My sister said they looked like Viva and I’m crying but too late to take it back
I guess they’re both Spanish? Ajdjajhsjajajs
Thin slutty waist. Imagine Lucifer from Hazbin Hotel bc Jeremy Jordan is Yes.
Like I’m obsessed with that wet cat of a character I’m thinking about Cielo’s voice being Jeremy
Although his younger VA days as like Varian would better suit Cielo…
ANYWAYS
Design by @mythartist21 save for the Trolls hair and cheek thingies! Those were my additions
Uhhh pointy ears, poofy sleeves
Idk is the star eye mark AND the cheek thingies too busy? Lmk and I’ll try to post a colored ref of that helps

My Adventures With Superman - A Rambling Set Of Thoughts
Okay, I know I don't USUALLY make posts like this and I especially hate getting cynical and nitpicky about these sorts of things because I just don't wanna contribute to all the negativity on the internet... But this is something I just couldn't shake.
So last night I watched the first season of My Adventures With Superman and... I have a lot of mixed feelings about to be brutally honest which is a shame because I know SO many people really loved this show.
Spoilers for season 1 obviously
For the most this show is great and it has a good foundation for Superman and gets him and his relationship with Lois so right. I love how Clark is this big, soft himbo twink dork who really reminds me of Adora from She-Ra and Lois is this fun tomboy who falls head over heels for him. And to be honest, all of their moments were genuinely the highlight of the show for me. SERIOUSLY ITS LIKE CLARK AND LOIS BUT MADE FOR SAPPHICS LIKE ME AND I ADORE THEM
Tumblr media
I love the art style and animation too and really does put a very fresh new aesthetic on DC stuff. Sure, it's a bit too much like She-Ra and Voltron in places, but for DC, it's a really good breath of fresh air. Seriously, look at the designs of Deathstroke and Livewire!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But sadly, that's not all the show is and this is where I have to sadly talk about my negatives with it.
Sooooo… this show was written a lot of the same people who wrote She-Ra and it seems to be a big fan of various anime things too, especially Dragon Ball Z and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
To that end, the show has basically... turned Superman into a mixture of Adora and Goku, not just in terms of personality traits and in Adora's case, her relationship with Catra (Seriously, if Clark was a woman and blonde, I would swear she and Lois would just be Catradora)
This sadly does apply to how this show portrays the Kryptonians, who are implied to MOSTLY be a race of evil conquerors who tried to attack Earth only for Krypton to be destroyed. This is VERY similar to how the First One's were depicted in She-Ra, as well as how the Saiyans were in Dragon Ball Z. One could also argue that their attack on Earth is a weird mashup of the movie Arrival and the Second Impact from Evangelion but that's me getting very nitpicky.
Tumblr media
So naturally, we have Adora and Goku's traits being applied to Superman. And…. those traits don't really work for Superman, at all. Now I should be clear, it seems to be that Jor-El and Lara were actually like rebels fighting the evil Kryptonians (which is ironically Mara's whole deal... you seeing the She-Ra pattern here yet?) but like... I don't like this idea at all. Poor Clark even has a fucking breakdown later on and thinks he's actually some evil weapon meant to conquer Earth AGAIN just like Adora from She-Ra being used as a weapon by the First One's. And I just feel bad for him because he's trying to be the good decent Superman we all love... but he's getting dragged into this plot that pretty much breaks him... and I don't really like it.
And then there's a whole subplot about Lois meeting alternate versions of herself and discovering alternate versions of Superman who are evil (which is bizarrely how Kryptonite is introduced in this show) which.... yeah I don't like that plot either. Nor am I the fan of Task Force X pulling the whole "the Government is treating clark as hostile because they think he's an evil alien" plot which I have gotten kinda tired of seeing in a lot of modern Superhero media. It's either Superheroes being hated or hunted by the government or being made to work for them.
And you know where this all probably came from for this show in particular? Fucking Zack Synder and Man of Steel. It's kind of ironic because a lot of this show feels like its in response to the Synderverse, like it feels obligated to comment on how people see Superman now because of those crappy movies, something that I know James Gunn is probably gonna do as well with his superman movie basically a live action version of Superman vs the Elite.
And just…. no, none of this shit is really necessary nor is it a good idea. Because it kinda takes away some bits of Superman that I like. I know the show isn't done yet but… I can already make a good guess of where it's going to go. And where it's going… idk if I'm gonna like a whole lot.
It is clearly a show wanting to be different from all that has been done before with Superman…. but by being different for the sake of it, it's doing a lot of stuff I just don't like.
I just want there to be a day when we get a Superman thing that doesn't have to justify the man's own existence and role in a story because some objectivist edgelord made a bad movie with him in it eleven years ago.
So yeah, by turning Superman into more or less mostly Adora from She-Ra... I think they might have messed him a bit in my eyes. I hope season 2, whenever that comes out hopefully pushes things in a more hopeful direction and I could genuinely call this a good adaption of Superman. Because there is so much potential with just from the relationship of Clark and Lois alone that tells me that these creators just GET how Superman's character is.
So yeah, I hope that long rambling thought made sense.

i have thoughts about the pjo tv show but they might not be beloved... (long post, mostly just for myself but feel free to read my thoughts) (also lmk your thoughts! im curious if my experiences are universal) (also obv spoilers for ep8)
now i recognize i am watching this show through the lens of a much older person than i was when i read the books. percy is no longer older than me - he is now just a baby to me. and the actors are so young. so that might be the cause of some of my feelings. also i realize that a tv adaption is not going to be identical to the book. but what is tumblr if not a place to vent my frustrations, despite how irrational they may be?
i'll start with the good because there were some things i liked. i thought the actors mostly did a good job. the effects and sets and lighting and design was all very good, visually i think it was great. i like the gods i think theyre mostly well cast. I don't really have many problems with grover.
ok now lets talk about my frustrations. this isn't going to be super organized or logical. first of all, i had a problem with the characterization. most characters were actually not bad, but percy didn't really feel like percy to me. he seemed kinda darker? (whats he gonna be like when its dark!percy time??). like book percy obviously was not happy all the time, but he seemed light and he made jokes and he was a little goofier and i feel like in my mind he smiled more. tv percy kinda just seems sad all the time. and this might be a controversial take, but i feel like they gave some of percy's best traits to annabeth?? like annabeth was the one beefing with ares the most when he showed up. and a lot of the time she'd have a line that seemed so percy like!!! don't get me wrong - i love annabeth and the actress did a really great job! but i feel like she was kinda percy and annabeth at the same time in a way. i missed percy. also hades was different. they made hades fun which is cute but in the first book at least hes supposed to be kinda scary!!! i wasn't scared of hades at all. hades seems like he'd be a fun drinking buddy in this. those aren't the vibes hades should have, at least not at the first meeting.
ok next!!! where is the fun. pjo was such a fun series and i feel like the show has taken on more of a darker outlook! again i realize its a tv show and it was only an 8 ep run so they probably had time constraints, but i miss the fun little scenes that make the books such a fun read! like the "say hello to the poodle" scene ? or the scene where they're telling charon they died in a bathtub? and don't even get me started on the Crusty's bed scene. they just breezed right through that!!!
and thats another thing!!!! in the book they kept figuring things out while they were in the thick of it. which was fine!!! especially for percy - hes brand new to all of this, he has some knowledge but he makes mistakes because he's a kid and he is in a brand new world! and we get to see him and annabeth and grover get out of these tricky situations and figure things out!!! but in the show they know everything basically instantly. like the lotus casino or crustys scheme. i like seeing them make mistakes and fix it!! i don't think i was ever stressed watching this show (good stressed, like suspense stress) which i guess is in part because ive read the books but also because they were never in too terrible a position. and the kronos thing!!! percy knew right away. he was like oh word big pit? must be kronos. he did everything. like that is way too quick for early percy.
and then this is just me being nitpicky but i don't like how they changed things. like the luke betrayal reveal? where was the scorpion. that was so iconic and they just completely scrapped it! i thought it made luke's character kinda scary! like this guy fully just summoned a scorpion to kill percy. instead in the show hes like swinging at percy and percy manages to hurt him. i'm not scared of this luke. young percy, away from the sea, manages to hurt him? little annabeth scares him off? he runs away? ok big man try showing up again we won't be scared. idk it frustrates me.
one more thing before i wrap up the longest (and only) post i've made in ages. Sally Jackson using Medusa's head to turn gabe to stone was SO iconic. and what a great way for her to show us and the world and the gods how powerful she is. like she went from being sally jackson, mother and protector of percy (who was already pretty sick) to Sally Jackson, Capable of Basically Murder in a Super Cool Way!!!!!! i loved that. but in the show they just have gabe snooping and accidentally getting turned to stone? if i had never read the books and was watching this show with no knowledge of the books, i'd think it was just kinda a lazy way to wrap up a loose end. kinda felt like they took sally's power away (i know she divorced him but it doesn't really have the same gravitas).
ok i do have other thoughts but this is so long already and its bedtime. is it weird that i'm worried the younger cast might come across this? they probably won't care what i have to say but incase they do come across my super long post and read it (i would if i was 15 and starred in a show with a built in fanbase), i hope they take it with the biggest grain of salt. bc at the end of the day people like the show, its profitable (i assume), and i'm just a cranky old lady who doesn't like change. most of the changes i understand why they did it and i respect it. i'm just venting here. and you know what? if they release a second season (and third and fourth and fifth) i will be watching.
i guess i just wish they maybe had more episodes, or longer episodes, so they didn't have to rush it as much as (i felt) they did. overall it made people happy so who cares. have a good night tumblr.

I am so glad tumblr hasn't found out about or is atleast ignoring the live action monster high movie nickelodeon wasted 6 million on in order to try take away every good bit of representation i experienced as a child.
They changed Draculora from a vegan vampire who finds it hard to not give her heart to anybody who will take it and loves poetry and art and fashion into a cold rude upfront witch who now has pink skin for no reason and looks like Melanie Martinez.
They turned Clawdeen from a brooklyn sounding tough werewolf with atleast 7 siblings and a sporty lesbian with a dream for fashion into some nervous clumsy straight bitch who gets hate crimed 10 minutes into her first day at school
They took away Ghoulia Yelps speech impediment which was not only one of her main and most recognisable traits but also the only good representation on autistic people not speaking other than mute i have ever seen.
They made Lagoona BLUE into one of the only actors not covered in body paint and gave her pink hair, they also swapped her personality from a patient and curious no nonsense ghoul whos only exception is her boyfriend who doesnt have the greatest homelife into what looks like an aggressive and violent boot licking wanna be vampire
They made Frankie blue, once again took away all her defining features and straight up made her look like an oc, instead of being the nerdy always eager to learn and brave geek they made her into some kind of robot whos incapable of understanding basic body language but can figure out her principles (who she saw once) bathroom schedule
Draculora is a witch in the live action disaster but she sleeps in a coffin? And hates sunlight? IS SHE A VAMP OR WHAT MAKE UP TOUR MJND NICK
Duece's entire character design, personality and visual wise is a bigger hate crime than the time cops tried to behead a monster student in pne of the GOOD movies, i genuinely thought he was jackson or jekyll.
Heath burns cgi is awful and i couldn't even focus on anything else, his hair is like a car wreck, except a car wreck would make me cry less, ynless it had pullys in it i guess.
Cleo de nile was a mean if not bitchy character in the classic series who was basicly the definition of ghoulboss gatekeep but she was not racist, infact shes the least racist out of her family, shes also that one rich friend who buys everyone stuff, and they made her racist and more than likely into the live actions villian or atleast a side one.
I have more to say but im genuinely about ro cry myself to sleep about all my first ever bits of rep being taken away by nickelodeon again, they are trying to take away the queer, disabled and poc representation that monster high has buikt for us through the years and its horrible and i dont know how to win this other than not watching it and even that feels like losing.
Tiktok cosplayers genuinely carrying my spirit right now, these people are the only reasonnim gonna be able to sleep tonight

Was watching a peethan stream (here's the highlight) where he reacted to a video made by a conservative grifter on how "trendy" being LGBTQ is. And I just--as a scientist--cannot leave the study this girl cites be without adding in my two cents.
The "study" aimed to poll left-leaning, college-level youths about their LGBTQ experiences and orientation. Their bias was inherent in the goal itself: prove these people are only saying they're queer without acting on it. Basically, they asked a bunch of young people (many of whom I'm sure were only now in a safe space to be queer) if they'd had gay sex. That's 1) gross to ask as proof of identity from people who want you to wait till marriage and 2) not a proper query for an unbiased study design.
I know, I know. People who want to be validated in their bigotry don't care about proper study designs. Rather than offer improvements to them, allow me to show you all how I would have constructed a similar study. Not to prove either side right a priori. To offer a legitimate way of polling people.
First, the study goal needs to be defined. The aim is to understand trends or lack thereof in the number of LGBTQ youths compared to older LGBTQ identifiers.
This will be accomplished via polling of four defined groups of subjects: queer-identifying individuals above the age of 30, queer-identifying individuals between ages 20 and 29, and two non-queer identifying groups of the same age range. Each subject would be, prior to the experiment, given a questionnaire where their respective politics, sexual-orientation, gender identity, partner preferences, etc.
Now onto the experiment. The subjects would be told they are helping a fashion magazine poll for reader interests in certain models and are asked to pick a model they feel is most appealing in each round. Each round will consist of three model options wearing, per round, varying categories of clothing from swimwear to formal, eclectic to modern, etc. The models will range in body type, ethnicity, masc/fem/neither presentation, etc. There would be a lot of rounds. The aim here is to determine without conventional labels what a person's attraction interests are. The subjects would be told explicitly to choose based off personal model preference NOT what they think is going to be appealing to a wide audience.
Why do this rather than the simple "are you gay" poll? Because not everyone is out, not everyone has defined their preferences, and not everyone has come to terms with their own social biases. In this design, I try to account for that. A conservative man who's been raised all his life to be homophobic could consistently choose masc-presenting models without ever identifying socially that he's gay. Likewise, a liberal woman could also consistently choose masc-presenting models despite identifying as bisexual or lesbian. See? Both my bias and the original study's bias are taken account here.
Following the polls, each subject would be asked again what their sexual-orientation is just in case something occurred socially/personally between when the questionnaire was filled out and now.
The analysis portion would be more involved than plugging random numbers into the default line graph in excel, as was the case for the original "study". Here, the decisions of the subjects in each group would be compared to the original questionnaire. Models would have been labeled prior by attraction-preference traits (such as dark hair or tall) and presentation (masc, fem, neither, both). Tests would then be done to determine significant discrepancies between the questionnaire and poll and differences or lack thereof between age groups of the same identity.
If there are a significantly more youths identifying as queer who are not queer compared to the older queer group, then the expected result would be a significant difference in response proportions between the two queer groups. Same for the two cis-het groups. If there is no difference in the proportion of those identifying as queer in either age group, then the expected result would be no difference in responses. Same for the two cis-het groups.
The whole purpose is to uncover reality. If the grifter and her cited "study" are right, then there would be a discrepancy between the queer groups. More young people saying they're gay, lesbian, bi, etc. when they consistently chose the opposite gender presentation. (I'm obviously accounting for gender. If someone's a trans man IDing as straight and choosing fem-presenting models, they are still queer but not a discrepancy.) If progressives like peethan are right, that there are a lot of closeted or non-sexually active people hidden by "study", then there won't be significant discrepancies in the queer groups and there won't be differences in proportions between the older or younger groups for BOTH queers and cis-hets.
This was very long winded and completely unnecessary, but I had to write this down. It annoyed me that the both the grifter and the article she was citing were making such baseless claims from a terribly designed experiment. And I didn't just want to argue with her, peethan did so for me, but to offer a legit way of testing the question her side of things is having: is being queer a trend? I don't want to prove them wrong. I want reality to.

You seem to be one of the best oc creators in the fandom and I was wondering if you had any advice on mtl ocs? I wanna make one but I'm not sure where to start!
Goddamn, anon. That's one hell of a compliment to wake up to, but I'm glad you like my characters all the same. Truth is, this fandom is full of very fleshed-out, intricate OCs. Utterly jam-packed. I only think mine get a lot of attention because I present their stories in a visual media, as I am extremely, extremely lucky to have the time and energy to do so. I'm also old and benefit from having my characters for over ten years. I have had a lot of time to get to know them.
That said, entering into a fandom with a lot of excellent OCs might seem a bit intimidating, but the first thing you have to remember is that it's a fandom space and it's all about having fun. We're all really supportive of each other in this arena, which is another rare thing for fandoms in general -- but here in MTL you shouldn't be afraid to just dive right in.
I'm not sure if you're more of an artist or writer, but the first real piece of advice I can give is that there's no wrong way to make a character. For me, drawing them is most helpful, but you might also want to get their traits down on paper, first. What do they look like? How do they move? What are their basic personality traits, too? Any way you want to tackle it is fine. If you do happen to be a visual artist, I just happen to have a little tutorial I made on character design, right here.
Honestly, I think another thing that Baen-Shee benefits from is the fact that I made a whole group of them, instead of just a one-off individual. There's a built-in sense of "Oh, it all fits!" when you make multiple characters, and have them all taking on different roles. In this case, they're a band, so you can play off traits typically associated with people in their individual musical sweet-spots: Confident frontwoman, badass lead-guitarist, cocky drummer, mysterious bassist, demure rhythm-guitarist, etc. They're also a family, and you can work within those associations. And, as you'll come to find out - they're also a bunch of superheroes, so you can work with associations tied to their elemental powers. It's all reciprocal when you do work on multiple characters at the same time - you can see what I mean when you look at their individual character sheets and compare them.
Also, don't be intimidated by making a band if you yourself have never been in one. I think this is one of the things that holds a lot of people back from making MTL OCs, specifically. First of all - this fandom is full of original characters who are not, themselves, musicians or in any way inclined. Don't feel like you have to have a character that is in music in some way. Second, if you do want to make an ensemble act -- Just model them after a band you like and go from there. If you're caught-up on details about how certain aspects of music and instruments and all that work, I have a tutorial for that as well and plan to make more. You don't have to be a band-guy to be in this fandom. Hell, you don't have to be a "music" guy. You just have to be creative!
So, now we've come to the part where I say you can basically take everything I just said and throw it out the window if you only want to follow one rule. And that rule is this:
Give your character a story that will make people care about them.
If your audience can read a story about this character, step into their shoes for a while, and find a place of comfort, there - congratulations! You have written a good character. Are there small intricacies to this and could I go on for days and days about what all this means and what ways you can go about doing this? For sure - but until I get the time to do that, rest-assured that people will be drawn to revisit stories about your OC, the more they find themselves caring about them. And the key to that is putting them in situations where the reader finds themselves rooting for them. I really think this is the biggest way to win an audience over for an OC (or a pile of them, as the case may be). One small point of advice, though: Try not to step on other characters' toes as you do this. Especially the canon cast's. Unless it's funny. Then, go nuts.
I promise more tutorials on this in the future, anon. I invite you, meanwhile, to go check out the Metalocalypse OCs Wiki and study the characters you find interesting. See how they're put together, and pay close attention to what makes them compelling to you. It'll surely give you ideas for your own OCs. @thatwritingho has put a ton of work into it, and you're sure to want to spend hours there, if you're into making characters of your own.
As I said, there's a lot to this - but I hope to explore it in even greater detail, in future posts. Hope the things I linked and what I've said here so far though, is of use to you!

What was the internet fandom's reaction to Sonic Adventure 2 back in the early 2000s?
I can only speak to my personal perspective, which is that most of the people I know really liked it, but a select few of us (yes, including me) were upset because something was lost in the transition from SA1 to SA2.
Sonic Adventure is a much clearer continuation of the Sonic 3 storyline. Sonic Adventure 2 is, too, but it hides that fact maybe a little too well. Sonic Adventure 2 is also a lot more streamlined than Sonic Adventure -- no adventure fields, and each character's traits are much more pronounced. They feel much more specialized. Sonic is only good at running (through levels that were basically just Speed Highway on repeat). Knuckles is only good at hunting. Tails is only good at shooting. Things like that.
There was also a pretty significant debate over the story and characters. There was a large argument where our side proposed that Sonic Adventure 2 felt "soulless." It leaned a lot more heavily on science fiction and anime tropes.
I specifically remember comparing Shadow the Hedgehog to a trope you often see in characters like Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII. The tortured science experiment reflecting on the nature of their own existence. Rouge, too, was a generically sexy jewel thief.
Compared to Sonic Adventure's grand finale of The Angel Island Saga, it lacked the depth and impact of something like Perfect Chaos and Tikal. Sonic Adventure felt more like a Sonic game should, whereas Sonic Adventure 2 was something new, different, and decidedly more flavorless. Less a story than a collection of stereotypes and gimmicks.
Two things I remember very clearly during the long, ongoing debates this game spawned were specific replies to something a friend of mine said in response to me being utterly unfair to Sonic Adventure 2:
"So now you don't like playing it? Weren't you the guy who spent over 4 solid hours playing just City Escape in The Trial on the first day you had it?"
Which was in response to me complaining about how much more narrow and linear the stages were for Sonic now, and how that was inferior to Sonic Adventure's more evenly-paced level design. To further the point, I'd even paid money for the Sonic Adventure 2 Trial, ordering it for like $5 off of Ebay so I wouldn't have to spend full price on Phantasy Star Online. May have actually been the first thing I ever bought on Ebay.
"And who said you get to decide what Sonic the Hedgehog is? At least they're not just copying Super Mario 64 like everyone else."
Proving that perhaps some things never change with me, I guess. I had used the "Sonic Adventure 2 is soulless" argument to suggest it did not feel like a Sonic game anymore.
In retrospect, these were some pretty knock-down, drag-out arguments. I'm still friends with some (maybe even most) of those people, and I remember the context of some of these things getting pretty heated in ways I'd never dream of nowadays.
For the safety of my well being, I would like to point out that I have obviously come around on Sonic Adventure 2 more since those days. I would still consider my feelings "complicated", but I can, and do, enjoy the game much more now than I used to.
I'd, uh, "finished" school (in a matter of speaking) by the time Sonic Adventure 2 came out, so I don't really have any nuanced view on how the game was received in the real world, outside of the two main friend groups I was hanging with at the time. I think by the time previews were coming out and the cast kept getting bigger, and bigger, and bigger, there was some sneering -- Sonic's spotlight being "too crowded" was a major concern back then, and Sonic Adventure 2 only made it worse.
I was just talking about this with a friend, but Penny-Arcade used to do this Game of the Year thing called the "We're Right Awards." And for 2001 that year, Gabe gave Sonic Adventure 2 an award:
Tumblr media
"Best Sonic Game Where You Do Not Play As Sonic"
I suppose it's fallen out of favor now, but there used to be a memetic shorthand for this and it was called "Sonic's Shitty Friends." Everybody called them that. When pressed, they'd say Tails and Knuckles were fine, but beyond that, the wider world at large didn't want to have anything to do with Amy, or Big, or Shadow, or Rouge, or Gamma, or Omega, or Vector, or Charmy, or Espio, or Cream, or Silver, or Blaze, so on and so forth. You get the idea.
Though it was a problem in Sonic Adventure, it really started to catalyze in Sonic Adventure 2. Every game people would complain about it, and every game the cast would just get bigger. Three playable characters. Six. Twelve.
And specifically for Sonic Adventure 2, most tended to agree that only really Sonic and Shadow were fun. The mechs were slow and clumsy, and the hunting stages were deliberately made significantly more tedious.
Then there was us, also saying the game simply felt soulless. It lacked the heart of Sonic Adventure, trading it for edgelord science fiction. A game that was, at one point, maybe even supposed to have swearing in it. A Sonic game! With swearing! It boggles the mind.

when Star and i started working on Dancing (With Another Man) there were two things we wanted to dig into
bird flash but messy
the world building of A/B/O
if you wanna see the mess go read the fic for yourself ;]
but right now i wanna talk about a little world building rabbit hole i fell down the other night @ 2am while fighting sleep.
ramblings about the genetic inheritance of dynamics below the cut
i really went into the weeds with this one y'all. I've always been interested in genetics and if i hadn't been dead set on going to art school i might have been a bio major instead. so this was definitely more than a little self indulgent on my part.
the main question i had was how are dynamics passed from parents to offspring. i broke that very vague question down into two more specific ones:
could a child only have one of the dynamics of their parents, or were the genetics more complicated than that
if a child COULD have a dynamic that their parents didn't have, how would that work.
so at first i was kind of just writing down my thoughts based on what i remembered of genetics (i haven't taken a bio class since sophomore year of college so i was a little rusty)
what i came up with made sense to me but i didn't have the energy that night to actually research different modes of inheritance, or to figure out if what i had come up with was scientifically sound in any way.
The next day i decided to hunker down and read a whole bunch of articles trying to refresh my memory on the basics of genetics, and also looking into modes of inheritance other than complete dominance.
I knew from the beginning i didn't want any one designation to be the 'dominant' trait, or for another to be 'recessive.' i just wasn't sure exactly what mode of inheritance would make the most sense.
after a few days of hashing out the science of it (and info-dumping to Star about my findings in our discord) i figured out a system that i liked, plus it made at least some sort of scientific sense.
this is, afterall, for an omegaverse fic so i wasn't going to break my back trying to make this work. BUT its going to come into play later in the story. So i wanted it to have SOME sort of logic behind it.
So there is one gene that determines a persons Dynamic. This gene has a total of 5 alleles and a persons dynamic is a result of which two out of those 5 markers they were born with. These alleles interact with each other using the incomplete dominance mode of inheritance.
the alleles are as follows
[A]: strong presentation of Alpha traits
[a]: weak presentation of Alpha traits
[O]: strong presentation of Omega traits
[o]: weak presentation of Omega traits
[x]: no presentation of dynamic traits [recessive]
[x] is the lack of a dynamic marker, so it mirrors what ever other dynamic marker it is paired with
now these alleles can be combined in a total of 13 distinct genotypes, 12 of which result in one of the three designations, and one where an individual has no designation at all.
Alpha/Omega Genotypes:
[AA] / [Ax] | [OO] / [Ox]
an individual with these genotypes displays a strong presentation of Dynamic traits. While this could affect their physical build, what its really referring to is how the body produces hormones and pheromones. People with these genotypes produce hormones and pheromones in excess. This could cause things such as a strong scent, intense cycles, and aggressive tendencies in Alphas. In Omegas this could mean being more prone to submission or falling into the Omega headspace more readily.
[Aa] / [Oo]
an individual with these genotypes would be considered 'balanced' . They produce dynamic hormones in 'normal' levels and outside of their cycles these hormones would not impact their daily lives.
[aa] / [ax] | [oo] / [ox]
these genotypes indicate a weak presentation of dynamic traits. these individuals would produce hormones and pheromones at a deficit, and therefore would probably have a weaker scent, and milder cycles. They might also need to use CIDs to jump start their cycles if their body won't do it for them
Betas are the result of a person possessing the genetic markers for both Alpha and Omega. therefore there is no way for a Beta to possess the [x] marker
Beta Genotypes:
[AO]
A Beta with this genotype would be balanced, in that they produce equal amounts of both Alpha and Omega hormones. Not enough for them to experience either cycle, but someone with this genotype could probably make the noises of either dynamic pretty convincingly.
[Ao] / [Oa]
a Beta with these genotypes would produce more of hormones of one dynamic than the other. This could cause increased aggression (Ao) or a tendency toward submission (Oa) and psuedo-cycles. This is often treated using suppressants or inducers to bring the hormone level back to equilibrium.
[ao]
a Beta with this genotype barely produces dynamic hormones at all. Their scent would most likely be weak, and they probably would have a hard time convincingly making the noises of either of the other two designations. But since they don't cycle there is no reason to 'treat' this condition.
and finally we arrive at [xx]
the most common examples of someone being [xx] would be Atlanteans and Amazonians. Both of those groups broke off from humanity before the rest of the population developed the genetic markers that give a person their designation.
But humans can also have the [xx] genotype, it is just extremely rare (about 8% of the worlds population has this combination, though most of that 8% is made up of Amazonians and Atlanteans).
So with the info dump out of the way, here are some examples (using characters from d(wam)) of how dynamics are inherited.
Dick
Dicks parents were both Omegas, which did mean dick was guaranteed to be an omega, but he does have an entirely different genotype than either of his parents Mary Grayson was, [OX] while John was [Oo]. meaning dick could have been [OO], [Oo], [Ox], or [ox]. He is [OO] and im sure if you have been reading the story this will come as no surprise to you.
Wally
wally is an interesting case. Rudy West is [xx], and Mary West is [AO]. Their family functions more as a typical family unit than a pack seeing as Rudy doesnt have a dynamic a all. However, often people who are born [xx] are just lumped in as a Beta since physically there is not much of a difference between someone with no designation and a Beta. Because of this Wally could Only be an Alpha [Ax] or an omega [Ox]. As im sure you've guessed Wally has the [Ax] allele combination.
Bruce
Both Martha and Thomas wayne were Betas, [AO], and [ao] respectively. This means Bruce had a chance to be an Alpha [Aa], Omega [Oo], or Beta [Ao] [Oa]. Bruce ended up with the [Ao] combo. For any of our readers who have been wondering "whats Bruce's deal?" this might give you just a bit of context.

do you have a favorite video game and if so, what is it?
(also it's nice knowing that i'm not the only person fighting to stay awake right now lmao)
ove 24 hours for no reason other than i was waking up and going to bed too late and it was freaking me out (i was worried i would get depressed) (now i am worried i will get manic) (its fine though im doing normal right now)
anyway i guess technically speaking its the sims 4 (with so many fucking mods). thats the video game i play the most and the most consistently. it is not a good game though. ive been playing the sims since the sims 2 (i didnt own it i would go to my sisters godmothers house and do nothing buy play the sims 2 until i would close my eyes and see the sims 2 and id be like i need an intervention and then go swimming in their pool bc they were rich and had one) and i got the sims 3 for christmas (no expansion packs because i didnt know what those were) and the sims 4 has so much less charm. and way fewer traits. and now theyve added 3 new trait slots you can unlock through gameplay which is cool and clearly theyve realised bc of that they need more traits as evidenced by how many traits are in for rent but like even if you only had 3 traits there shouldve been way more traits added like there should have been traits with every pack. including stuff packs and game packs idgaf. and more aspirations each with their own reward traits. also i dont like the single stage but really difficult aspirations that feels like lazy game design they wanted to make aspirations something progressive your sim could change and they shouldve stuck with that and made the higher stages more difficult instead of basically doing sims 3 aspirations again. and on the topic of that your sims should get whims to change aspirations based on your behaviour. wants. whatever. and also the fact that they keep adding new base game features and then never integrating any packs into it. fuck off. most of the packs in the sims 4 dont have sentiments or fears associated with them. like. really? and obviously i cant speak to how good it was in previous games because as previously stated i found out about the concept of an expansion pack after i stopped playing the sims 3 (or maybe it was when ea bought maxis and changed the loading screento a minigame advertising packs that i didnt realise was a minigame for like a year minimum) but you would think with a game that is meant to simulate life that sells you different aspects of it they would add cross pack compatibility. well theres barely any. its shallow and jejune.
but yeah i enjoy the sims.
i also really like minecraft but when my computer got hacked they got my windows account so i no longer have minecraft. will need to buy it again. oh i also loved animal crossing new leaf with my whole entire heart and desperately DESPERATELY want to play new horizons. though im disappointed in how few gyroids there are in the game compared to new leaf apparently. i used to like pokemon but i fell off with sword and shield after seeing the crunch.
i want to branch out into less 'casual' games. i got fallout new vegas for free and ive just. had it. not played it. ive heard a lot about it and i like a lot of what ive heard about the fallout games but im soscared im bad at viddy games :(

Hi! I saw you saying youre a teacher on a random post. Would love to know what made ya choose tha profession and what in your opinion are the basic bare minimum necessities one has to possess in order to consider that profession for their daily bread.
Whew these are great questions but I could talk about this subject for hours 😅 apologies in advance for this novel.
So, my parents were both teachers. And many of my extended family members-- on both sides of my family. A few of my cousins and their spouses chose teaching as we grew up, too. It felt natural to choose teaching. I've seen what this profession was, growing up through the 90's and early 00's, and I started my teaching career in 2010 when I graduated college. All this to say that the profession has changed a LOT, and so the answers to those questions are dramatically different now than then.
There's still the grand reasons for teaching: getting to help kids, getting to be part of their development into a good person, righting the wrongs of your childhood/school days in some small way. There's also the more practical reasons: it's a salaried career with built in retirement and benefits. (These used to be much stronger; I cannot afford the house my parents raised me in on 2 teacher salaries). Also, no 2 days of teaching are the same. There are logistical challenges to puzzle out. It's a lot of people management and planning ahead. It's getting to have a lot of social interaction and relationships, not just with kids but other adults.
Nowadays, if I'm being honest, idk why anyone would become a teacher. I know every old person says this, but the kids really are different now. Yeah, you've always had rough ones, but now teachers are getting assaulted, cussed at, and just completely disrespected, on a daily or near daily basis, and there's little to no consequences. We have more kids with trauma than school resources can help-- schools have always been underfunded but now its even worse-- and many many parents don't respect teachers and/or don't have any idea how to parent their kids, and/or don't have the time, money, or energy to do so. The failings of capitalism are the most apparent in our public school system, and that's by design. Public school is being eroded so business owners can edge in on it and make their own schools. Unions are at a fraction of their prior strength. I won't be surprised if in another decade we have mostly privately owned schools, and public schools are only the kids whose parents are too poor to get them into those, and kids who's behavior got them removed from those schools, with poorly trained teachers and no money.
All that to say, I've looked at other career paths, but I'm 12 years in to this profession and, despite all odds, I still like it. I'm damn good at it. More than ever kids need someone to give at least half a shit. The pandemic seriously aged (traumatized) me and I learned I can't put as much of my heart into things, but I get by right now. It's a lot better when you've got some established relationships. And there's the financial stability to consider.
As far as the traits you need to be a teacher, number one is patience. You just cannot take anything personally. You must experience ego death. You must be able to stay calm. Number two is empathy and being able to see things from another POV and respecting that viewpoint even if you don't agree. I could go on for ages because teachers do basically a thousand different things in a day; you have to be organized enough to plan and coordinate people, you have to be good at communicating especially via text, you need tech literacy skills.
Teaching is a vital and exciting and exhausting and rewarding job. We need good teachers, desperately, but we won't get nearly enough of them with how things are going. This is my perennial plea to anyone reading to pay attention to your local city council and school board elections. Find out who the teacher union endorses. Always vote yes on school levies. If you have kids, reach out to the teacher to ask how you can help. ❤️

Do 2p's have to be Evil?
I like this hetalia AU actually, but I had some issues with it that I couldn't fully understand, or explain, until now.
So the 2p's feel like they're suppose to be the "opposites" to our cast of characters right? (well, some of them) so why are they evil?
I realized this thing just now, why does a character from a parralel universe have to be evil to be considered the opposite of the original? Because surely there's more to personality and morals that, if you'd search for an "opposite" version of it wouldn't necessarily deem the copy (let's say) as evil, just different.
Of course if there's a very evident and prominent character trait that's on the high scale of moraly goodness, such as being a "hero" who's motivation is helping people (as basic as it is), then it makes sense for that character to have a "villain"ish parallel (I'm referring hero comic books, it happens more often there)
But for a character who's evident trait is simply being less talkative? Or smart? Then make the copy loud or dumb, that makes sense, but it doesn't make them evil.
Morality is pretty subjective and a character is more than just a single trait though, there's motivation, influence, cause, so it's hard to tell where the copies are on the morality scale if you don't make an analysis for the specific character, and/or if you don't change the copy's backstory to fit the interpretation cuz it won't make sense to have the same past experiences but end up as "different" people in a sense.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, you in a parallel universe would not be "evil" depending on the case, you wouldn't be some kind of dictator ruling over the world somewhere out there, just because you as the original enjoy eating ice-cream and love to make people laugh in your own universe. At worse, your copy is probably somewhere in a bar drinking alcohol and swearing at the smallest things, or maybe it's that friend that never gets invited to parties cause they're boring.
But back to 2p specifically. The way I described this whole "opposite" thingy, doesn't align with how the 2p's are usually characterized. Of course most of the 2p's are fan made, it's the axis I've seen who have some descriptions, and some concept designs for others, but let's take only the axis in consideration for now.
From what I've seen, they are originally described to be "in different colors" that's more about the apparence, not much about the character themselves (that's not fan made) but from how they look in the new pallette and the little bio they have about "running an evil organization", I guess you could say they're more on the "bad" spectrum on morals and intentions. It's definitely an alternative universe, not one designed to make them be opposite of the og's, specifically, but one designed (mainly for these 3) to be negative versions of the og's (and that's from judging apparence alone), I don't know if I can call it a "negative" universe since only the axis are known to do evil (whatever the heck they do in that organization), for the other characters is just the "looks" that makes you think they're bad, potentially, or do smth bad. Who knows. Maybe it's nothing and the looks are just deceiving. It was enough to inspire the whole fandom into creating an entire AU full of edgy fan content anyways.
Now after this loose analysis I just made, what's exactly my problem with this 2p AU? It's not entirely a problem but it does annoy me personally sometimes. It's the dilemma surrounding it, whether this is suppose to be an "opposite" universe or an universe designed specifically to be more edgy, or evil. These two things collide all the time but it doesn't seem to be a fandom only problem. There are 2 or 3 more official concept arts for some characters. Besides America's (most used by the fandom) 2p design there is another version besides him, in a suit, more formal looking (way more different than the popular 2p, or the og one). Russia has one where he looks happy, one where he's sad (or pessimistic), and one where he smiles as he stares into your soul. England's isn't that different actually, maybe he's more cunning (and Idk why everyone agreed that he wears pink but I'm not complaining 👀). I'm guessing Hima wasn't sure either what kind of AU this should be, so not much bothering there.
But fans decided for themselves and it turned into this edgy thing that's still referred as being an opposite universe somehow?
Anyways
I felt like bitching for some reason. I like the opposite parallel universes though, I also like the ones where there's more edgier versions of the characters too (with significant reason). I suppose I don't like the fact that they coexist in 2p. But since it's mostly fan content, who cares? It's up to each one. It has official designs too but it doesn't seem to matter to the fandom that much (I've only seen America's and China's mostly used. Russia still has the blonde hair but everyone draws it black)
I, myself, prefer it more as an opposite universe despite the contrary interpretations so far. But that's mainly for the fact that you can change the canon design of the characters and it makes it seems like they're different people at the same time. Also because I'm an artist with imagination so I'm biased on that one, no excuse :>

I feel like yelling into a void for a hot second to release some thoughts I have in my head about the “Species” community. Closed species, open species, the whole lot that were birthed on DeviantArt as a subsection of the Adoptables Community (or at least I so assume). Fairly popular with furries and all, but there are some “human”/humanoid species as well. It’s been in my head for a little too long, so maybe typing it out will rid the rot lmfaoo.
In general, Species are ok. To me, at least.
For those reading who may not know, a Species is a character type (aka, species) someone claims to have made and adds different traits and their personal lore to. They subsequently either say anyone can make one (open species), you can only use some traits freely but basically anyone can still make one (semi-open/semi-closed species), or nobody but the owner/staff/people with Make Your Own tickets can make one (closed species). They often involve a community aspect, hopefully hold some lore or storytelling that you could pair up with a character you own in the species, and ones with good staffing (a group of people, alongside the owner(s), who curate/answer questions) will run events, raffles, or produce a variety of adoptables.
Some species have a lot of lore and very original designs, some do not. Some have good staffing, some do not. Some are expensive to buy into, some are not. And, of course, there is an utterly massive trading culture around character designs (just like with the adoptable community).
The main complaint saddled onto species, most often the closed species subsection but technically applies to them all, is that “You can’t own a design concept like that. >:( Legally, you can’t own it!!! Original or not!!! I can make a character that looks just like that with any traits I want!” YES! I absolutely agree with you. You are CORRECT! In my personal beliefs, you aren’t paying (for closed or semi-open species) for the “MYO” just to use the traits on that design. You’re paying for the ability to interact with the community with a character. You're paying to use the lore alongside your character. You’re paying for a status. You’re paying for a collectable. You’re paying to get. into. the. club. YES it’s like a brand name. YES they’re only worth as much as you can throw them. NO, you don’t have to like that. But I don’t see nearly as much hate being thrown at people who collect rare Pokémon cards, or hot wheels, or whichever other item that has many copies made but are still collected for enjoyment. Those are, similarly, just hunks of plastic or pieces of paper. But people like the status and the community that comes along with it, and that’s ok! You don’t have to toss money to buy into the closed species (or, you don’t have to follow species rules for an open or semi-open species), just like you don’t have to buy a Pokémon card, but don’t expect for the Pokémon players(?) to allow you into a game with a fake deck of cards. There is a community for you! People will likely still be very happy to play with you and your own cards, especially if you just call them your own type of card (ie, just making your own character with whatever traits you want. Hell, even making your own free-range species!), but you probably just won’t be able to play Pokémon without a real deck. People also probably won’t pay big bucks for a fake card or a fakemon, unless they think the art is interesting.
You don’t have to like the rules, but you also don’t have to play the game!
Now, those species/species community members that Blacklist/harass people for “copying” a species? They can go eat dirt. Actually put their faces right into a pile of mud. Eat floor grime. Because that’s rude! I don’t support that at all! (AGAIN, you have EVERY RIGHT to make a similar concept character, unless you are downright stealing a specific design or copying the exact lore) But I also don’t support intentionally harassing or breaking rules of a species just to piss the staff, community, or owner(s) off when they’ve done nothing to you. Because that’s rude too. You can’t turn around twice and expect to be facing a different direction. If they bully you first? Go off. If you aren’t actually stealing/gatekeeping, you don’t have to listen to them. This goes both ways.
Another complaint I see is that many species, closed or open, are “unoriginal!” but I fail to see why that diminishes their right to exist. I also see people forgetting that people aren’t just getting the design for the design, sometimes they’re getting it to play into the lore built around it or the community or even events! Or, sometimes, yeah. People just want the design, or the art. That’s their problem! Like I said, you are COMPLETELY able to make a character with any of those traits you clearly like on the species, but just because the artist selling the “unoriginal” species is making some money or is fostering a community (because some closed species aren’t monetarily driven! I’ve seen enough that run off of events or their own fake currencies to where you don’t even have to pay a dime to get ahold of one.) doesn’t mean you should be mad. Just like big brands, sometimes people simply like them more than a plain version or the knockoff, but unlike big brands you’re not supporting some big mega company. Artists are artists. You’re still allowed to support the little guy, though! If you don’t wanna pay for the big brand, don’t pay for the big brand! Support the small local guy when you can.
I will note that I don’t personally support species that don’t have a lot going for them, but I also don’t think they’re bad. I don’t really like species that don’t have an active and supportive staff team. I won’t buy closed species/closed trait MYOs with real money (I would consider it for adopts, as the artist put work into it! but I’ve yet to even do that). I want to be able to see there’s a community around, generally, so I’ll have a reason to be into it all. I don’t enjoy species without some semblance or hint at lore or background, and, of course, I only get characters I like the look of and generally intend to use. But some people don’t care about all that. Some people like to buy, some people like to trade up, some people don’t care about there being a community, some people want to collect silly little guys to just look at sometimes, some people want there to be consistent events and a large team, some people like drama that comes along with the more… testy sides of the community. In the end, it’s all for fun.
I’ve helped staff Species in the past, and in the present. I’ve been apart of a few communities, open and closed. I’ve seen the drama from communities I’m both in and not in (there’s been plenty). I’ve owned “rip-offs”, and I’ve removed (even introduced) MANY characters from species without changing their designs one bit. I’ve also never spent a dime to pay for a closed species character, and yet have owned and currently own several.
My belief boils down to “Do whatever you want to, so long as you aren’t hurting anyone.” If Mr.Skippy McGee wants to spend $200 on a character design or MYO and has the money to do it, great! If little Mike wants to make a food themed sparkle dog closed species, awesome! You want to also make a separate food themed sparkle dog, or even a food themed sparkle dog open species, go get ‘em tiger! Just be civil. Block if someone gets too feisty, report if they get mean, and remember if all you have is a room full of assholes all you’re going to be doing is smelling your own farts with fistfuls of bullshit.
Thank you.

Hey Marinette and Adrien salter here. feel free to ignore if you dont wanna read negative stuff >,<
Until now I thought both are equally bad characters bc they dont seem to care for each other but reading your posts I changed my mind on Marinette a bit.
They are a team so I always expected them both to be kind to each other but Marinette is sometimes very harsh to him. Since Cat Noir is also Adrien I saw her as superficial like how can you love and dislike the same person at the same time??? Dont get me wrong tho, I never liked how Cat Noir pursued Ladybug. I just thought "well Adrien is Cat Noir and if Marinette ACTUALLY knew his real self she would not like him. She only likes the character traits that she can see, she doesn't dig deeper.
Reading some of your posts i thought a little about their realtionship and I feel like Adrien shouldnt have a miraculous. I didnt watch SE 4 but when he put that ring down in kuroneko...dude...is a potential relationship with ladybug really the only reason you were a superhero? You cant just enjoy the time you spend together and be happy with that? What a slap in the face.
Marinette deserves a better partner. I hope she will eventually realize what kind of guy Adrien is...
sorry if this is an unwarranted rant >.< Have a nice day!
Thank you for sending an ask and sharing your view on things. I used to be a LS shipper and then Season 2 & 3 hit and I realized that something wasn’t right. I realized just how targeted Marinette was by the writing and it upset me greatly. She apologizes more than anyone else in the show.
(If you go to miraculous content’s blog they have gone through the entire show and made a chart to show the ratio of how many times Marinette apologizes compared to the other characters and it’s HUGE)
To be fair though, I started having inklings in Season 1 as well. The writing is so targeted towards Marinette that most people fall for the writing and began hating her. It’s designed to make her look bad and make things her fault even if it doesn’t make sense.
Like Gamer in Season 1. It’s framed to make her look bad for taking Max’s spot but the thing is, it was never his spot. It was a competition and he was still competing. Marinette may have entered to play with Adrien but that’s not bad. She barely ever got to spend time with him because of his schedule but because it was for Adrien she was found to be wrong.
How? She entered fairly, played fairly, and won fairly. Even Max said so, even though he was bitter and a sore loser about it. And what about the people who lost the competition before Marinette entered, none of them got akumatized. And what if Max beat any friends of his who were also in the competition? You don’t see anyone get bitter, just him.
Thomas has already admitted that Marinette has to learn a lesson ever episode, so he’s basically saying that Marinette is wrong every episode. But the thing is, she isn’t. If this was a show for small children I’d say ok. But it’s not and Thomas knows it’s not. The show depicts Marinette trying her hardest trying to change herself but either she’s not believed or she’s dismissed and forced into interacting with Adrien.
And yet Thomas says Adrien is perfect and he knows that’s not true either but the writing tries and fails to show Adrien as morally right. Adrien’s social understanding is low, how can he be morally right in situations he’s never experienced.
It’s a double standard that’s designed to make Marinette look like the bad guy even though she didn’t do anything wrong. I implore you to rewatch the episodes, or read other people’s analysis for Marinette’s side of things to get a better perspective of things.

Oh I am so intrigued about TCC,,, this kind of content is my jam!
Glad to hear it!! Because I’m the only one really working on character design (I have staff on discord but they’re not in charge of that, I’m responsible for the default character designs) I’ll show you what I have right now!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Up left - River [Two River], Up right - Rando [An OC collectively made by me and the past creators], Down left - Jay [Broadway], Down right - Fanon [Keanu Squip Basically])
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Eighty [Exit 82], both uncolored and colored)
Because they are resembled by the actual versions of each different Squip, I made a conscious decision to make them not look EXACTLY like their original actor just to make sure no one gets uncomfortable or think I’m shipping actors, especially since that shit is weird..
This isn’t even the full cast but they all have different personalities and traits that I feel resembles each Squip as their own but still trail back to the serious and coordinated computer they were meant to be!
