I have a few things to say about the direct but they're all overshadowed by the announcement of a sequel(?) to one of my favourite games of all time, Fantasy Life for the 3ds, that looks soul crushingly disappointing. My disappointment is immeasurable and my direct is ruined.

so, sad news, and good news.

coconut very suddenly became extremely ill and we had to put him down on monday. that was always going to be hard enough on me, but the worst part was i was in california visiting relatives, and the vet did not think he would make it until the next day, when i’d be able to go home. so i had to say goodbye to him over video call. i came home last night to a house without my cat. i know i made the right call because i cannot let my pets suffer, and he lived a long and happy life where i took the best care of him i could, but it still feels awful.

the good news: i got my official hiring docs emailed to me today, and they want me to report to orientation on the 30th! once i sign and return the e-docs (which i will do later since i feel like shit rn) i will be officially employed by a county government 🥳  and i will be getting a good paycheck so i can spoil the shit out of the future cats i’m already planning to adopt! (i hope to get two, a bonded pair of adults preferably, though i’ll take kittens from the same litter or even a single cat if i’m chosen. i just love cats. i am not picky. i would have a dozen cats if it were feasible)

#text please! #pet death // #coconut was 16 btw. i think he was born in late spring so he wasn't 17 yet #he had hyperthyroidism for... four or five years? #and i couldn't get him to gain weight even with medication stabilizing his thyroid levels #so honestly him making it to 16 is impressive. i was very careful to make sure he was not suffering #and up until recently he didn't even look like an old cat. that only started maybe 6 months ago #so i kind of already knew it would be this year... i just didn't think it would be this soon in the year. and when i was across the country. #besides my cat the trip was great tho. the san diego zoo is INCREDIBLE i highly recommend going #i bought my nephews gifts from there and am very excited to give them to them this weekend #...and yes. my icon is still coconut. it has been him for like... seven years? i don't think i could ever change it.

thinking about how Hisoka started out not wanting any material things to help him sleep because he wanted to be able to fall asleep in any situation, even uncomfortable ones, and how Mankai gradually gifted him things to help him sleep, that he first was warry about but soon enough he started to collect

and the boy who started out with nothing in his corner of his room now has a good pillow, countless plushies, which he always considers is a perfect gift, expertise on good pillows, an eyemask for sleeping purpose, welcoming cozy blankets, and even appropriated himself the coffin in the storage room for perfect napping spot, coffin that he filled with pillows and plushies and find ways to keep locked shut so Tasuku doesn’t drag him out of it (or else he becomes evil on purpose), and now he gets to complain everytime someone slightly disturb his sleep.

He agreed on rooming with Homare because he had such a deep sleep that he would have in theory not been bothered by his loud behavior, and instead he grew more and more irritated with it the more people taught him about cocooning because now his sleep is sacred.

And the lonely “nothing allowed to sleep” rhetoric, was traded with “gotta be hugging something no matter what” which led him to have nap and cuddle buddies like Azuma.

And i think it’s really just a peak character arc, to be someone who denied himself all sort of little comfort to not get used to it, to then become an hedonist plushy bot constantly seeking comfort he’s now allowed and expected to have. As he deserves.
