Just sitting down, thinking about the end of AOT for the tenth consecutive hour. I have seen some people point out how freaking sad and depressive the ending is and how the ultimate message that Isayama wanted to convey is that violence and human conflict are inevitable. And yet, although that is definitely one of the many messages he has left behind,  we should also remember the other message that he left, and that is that we can’t give up. Yes, violence will persist and murder will continue to happen over and over again, but it is the act of working toward peace and keeping it the hardest decision to take in a world where shooting a bullet is the easy way out.

Violence is inherently human but so is the desire to have and be in peace. Because we might all have violence within us, but we also have the innate need to have a peaceful life

Many people headcanon Levi as illiterate when he lived in Underground.

If that was the case, then what are those?

Yes, it does look more like Farlan's corner, but I don't think that while Farlan could read, Levi couldn't. Living in a house with so many books and not being curious what they are about? Nah.

Reading and writing skills are useful and I really believe Levi would like to have any advantage in the Underground.

Theory 1: it’s possible that Levi learned from Farlan. 

Theory 2: he learned by himself.

You can find literate people in the Underground here and there. Look at that pimp charming businessman at the brother where Kushel worked:

Does he strike you as a guy, that went to any school at all?

Maybe reading and writing is just something you somehow... pick up to make a living?

Merchants definitely must know how to read, write and count. How would you keep a business without that skill?

Theory 3: his mother taught him. When Kushel died Levi was, what? Around 7 - 9 years old maybe? Even children as young as 3 learn how to put letters together, so Kushel had time to teach her son something before she died.

Theory 4, not delulu at all: Kenny taught him.

I was looking for anything that would indicate people in Underground know how to read: newspapers floating around, even as trash, but there are none. No signs on the buildings.

But there are labels! Bottles have labels!

Imagine tiny Levi, sitting at a table with Kenny in some suspicious looking bar,  pointing at a label on a bottle and asking "What are those little signs?"

“You don’t know how to read, boy?

Levi gets curious and keeps asking, whenever he encounters some writing, much to Kenny’s annoyance. "What does it say?"

Then Levi steals a book. "What does it say?" asks Levi pointing at the title.

Kenny comes to a conclusion it's a skill worth having. He's not a patient teacher and does not spend much time on it, but it wouldn't be very difficult for a kid smart as Levi to learn even with limited guidance from Kenny.

Princess reader who gets an arranged marriage with prince Eren Jaeger. Both Eren and the princess are miserable with this situation. Eren wants to be a traveler and explore the world's hidden mysteries. The princess wants to be free from the duty of marriage and child bearing.

Unfortunately, princess and Eren get married. They make an agreement to act as a couple only to the public, but never in private. They become good friends with time and learn to appreciate each other's companies and advice.

One day, an assassination attempt endangers the princess's life and Eren decides that she needs more personal protection. He sends a letter to his sister, Mikasa, a well known strong shield maiden and also a very trusted person. Mikasa agrees to look after her brother's wife.

What Mikasa didn't expect is to find the princess extremely ethereal and beautiful. She tries to play it off as normal because everyone simps for a princess from time to time (right? It's normal, right?).

Princess is utterly in love with Mikasa. As soon as Eren introduced his sister, the princess was too focused on how beautiful and divine the dark haired woman looked. That moment the princess knew she had to get that cutie for herself.

The princess wore the most beautiful dresses, perfumed herself, braided and decorated her hair. She made sure to look pretty for her shield maiden. Everyday they would go for a peaceful stroll around the gardens, talking about the gossip from the previous day. In the afternoons, the princess would take Mikasa to the library and read books with her. In the evenings, the princess insisted that Mikasa sat beside her during dinner. Eren was a little confused but happy that his sister and wife were friends.

One day, Mikasa has to travel for a small mission assigned by her brother. The princess gets really sad, but understands it. Eren assures her that the trip will only last a week and Mikasa will be back very soon. The princess patiently waits, and waits and waits.

After two weeks, a group of shield man come back with a wounded Mikasa and all hell breaks loose. Eren is worried because his sister is almost invulnerable and the princess is worried she won't make it. Fortunately, Mikasa is stable and will recover soon.

During her recovery, the princess wouldn't leave Mikasa on her own. She takes care of her wounds and feeds her when she isn't feeling strong enough to do so. While Mikasa sleeps, the princess kisses her forehead and tells her "I love you" thinking the shield maiden is not listening.

Mikasa of course hears that, but doesn't say anything because she is confused and not sure she wasn't hallucinating. She recovers and everything goes back to normal, but those three words torment the shield maiden's mind.

Mikasa looks for signs that the princess might have romantic feelings for her. All the while she feels guilty because Eren is her husband. She doesn't want to hurt her brother's feelings by pursuing his wife.

All the while Eren is a little too dumb to notice both women are clearly head over heels for one another. It takes Armin to actually tell him "bro, they're in love we have to do something because I can't take this anymore" (let's say Mikasa likes to barge Armin's chambers and complain that the princess is so cute, and pretty, and lovely).

Eren and Armin make a plan (more like Armin does all the planning and Eren is the moral support) to send both women to a very beautiful and secluded castle owned by the Jaeger family. They tell both girls is a safety measure and Mikasa completely agrees to take the princess there.

The princess and her shield maiden arrive on the castle and have a lot of fun walking around and exploring the library and the surrounding forest. They decide to have a picnic and end up kissing, with only the sunset as their witness.

When they arrive back home, Eren and Mikasa have a conversation. Eren tells his sister he doesn't have feelings for the princess and that he would be more than happy to have his sister and friend be married.

In the end, Mikasa and the princess get married with Eren and Armin as witnesses (Armin got his license to marry and unmarry people). Eren and princess are still married to the public, but in private she is Mikasa's wife.

Soulmates AU in which when your soulmate is in a situation that can result in their death you get to see through their eyes. Like, I don't know how to explain this- it kind of flashes between what you see and what your soulmate sees. You know those edits where there's a scene going on and there's another one faded in the background happening at the same time? Similar to that. The idea is that you get to see what your soulmate sees too, on top of what you're seeing.

Now, this AU but JeanMarco. With Marco asking the others where's Jean, just for him to start seeing a corpse right in front of his eyes not even a second after asking. Seeing through Jean's eyes as he's trying to get hold of that gear and stuff. And once Jean's safe, once it clicks that you know his best friend is his soulmate Marco can't wait for them to graduate so he can you know tell him that.

Then, you know. That happens. And Jean is so fucking confused because he keeps seeing Annie crying, looking down on him. Only when Annie starts getting off the gear, when his soulmate starts moving around trying to get away he starts panicking, starts moving around faster than before. And maybe he's too late. Or maybe he shows up in time and kills the titan. I don't know. That's not where I'm trying to get, but to the second option AKA Marco pulling an UNO reverse on Annie because he's a smart sneaky bastard like that and being like 'Hey you can't kill me, my soulmate will know it was you' which makes her stop trying to take off his gear. Reiner keeps telling her to do it, Bertholdt keeps yelling about that titan coming closer, but Annie... she has seen things, at some point. Flashes of moments that weren't hers, happening right in Trost- right in that moment. And she didn't give them too much thought until that moment, until it got confirmed that it has nothing to do with her titan powers.

'What do you mean by that?' she asks, because she needs to know more. Because she wants to know more. And Marco starts explaining how it works. Tells them that he has found his soulmate, that they will put all the blame on them for his death. Reiner doesn't believe him, keeps insisting that he's playing them around - he, and anyone born and raised on Marley, has never heard of something like that before, it doesn't exist - but Annie tells him to shut up and to let Marco go. Cue to the plot of any fic in which Marco doesn't straight up die after finding up their secret.

Anyway I don't know man, just,,, We need more soulmate aus for JeanMarco. That's an order.

the table scene in attack on titan season 4 hits just as hard the second time. even though eren has already gone so far off into the deep end by that point, that’s still the moment where you’re like ‘WOW i really hate this motherfucker’

Mmmm Honestly, I prefer Mikasa relationship with Armin and Eren with Armin hahahah, nothing about romance or whatever. I think Mikasa and Armin were the ones who had each other back (at least emotionally) and I think Armin had a big influence in Eren’s life. Eren was the little family she had, so of course she was going to try to save his life when he was in danger, but I wish Yams would explore more their relationship. I still can’t see the “beauty” on them. I think Eren was a huge dick to her.

 After Midnight Sun, I thought the fact that Mikasa chose to let Armin go was gonna play a role later. Especially since Floch told everyone what an adult Mikasa was on that roof. I expected it to play a part in their fight after the rumbling began. And later for them to have a heart to heart.

This one is tragic. Armin shared his picture book with Eren, wanting his friend to know about the beautiful landscapes, but that starts the path to what will ultimately be the worst crime someone could commit.

I think Eren was a huge dick to her

I will defend Eren for a minute, just because I do that to every kid character. He’s a teenager in the beginning, they are annoying because they can’t understand their feelings and have the impression the world is staring at and judging them every second. The fact that he even went from buttheading Mikasa before going to a mission that had a high mortality rate to admitting he was jealous of her in the span of four months, is growth. He even came up with some Wattpad fanfiction for her, in chapter 138. 

Too bad it was too little too late. I wished Mikasa would have had a steadier path in letting Eren go. To go from “I’m in love with you” to “I’ll always love you, but I’m not in love with you anymore”. The ending kind of did her dirty. What Eren committed was horrible and the story let him go way too easy.

All in all, I like Mikasa’s interactions with Armin, Levi, Hange and even Annie the best.
