- Okay, first of all, how dare you?

- He is, the Mammon. You don't just decide when things are over!

- You were smart enough to break it off with him over text, rather than in person, because he absolutely would throw a scene. No matter where you are, public or private. Think Sarah Lynn level shit.... like, literally stabbing himself, in public, to prove a point.

- What is the point? That he loves you!

- He's especially pissed off about the fact that you broke it off with him though. It bruised his ego, he would much, much prefer it if he had been the one to have broken up with you. He would have never done that though.

- He would go through the five stages of grief 100%

- For the first few days he's in DEEP denial about it. He'd go about life as though the two of you were still together, even though you weren't there.

- Pretending that you were on a work trip or something really helped. It gave him a sense of hope that one day you'd return to him, and he'd feel your warm body embraced against his once again.

- But you and Mammon were a big public thing, like, everyone knew about you. So, people started to notice your absence. Where you would always be by his side now bore an empty pocket of air. People started questioning it;

- From simple posts online to 666News interviews asking him invasive questions regarding your lack of publicity. It pissed him right off, because he couldn't pretend you were still with him whilst constantly being reminded that you weren't.

- And then you spoke up about the breakup.

- You made a Tweet regarding the status of your relationship. Que the next stage...

- With the world now aware of your distanced status Mammon was bombarded with crude comments and remarks, from your fans and haters, to his fans and haters. It'd range from "Wow Mammon fumbled the bag hard." to "Now that Mammon is single do you think he'll start letting groupies backstage ?"

- He actually refused to show up to a lot of interviews and talk-shows because every single time theu brought up the headline, he would get so, so angry. He's almost torn through an interviewer once or twice.

- His bargaining phase was the absolute worst phase though.

- Thousands of calls a day, and an equal level of voice messages followed by hundreds of texts. You'd block his number and then BAM, another number calls you. He manipulates the phone manufacturer of Hell to give him an unlimited free supply of phones so expect him to not let up in that department.

- You know that meme where the person is stood outside the door, crying, with an umbrella over their head and fake rain over them. That's him.

- He gets Beelzebub to provide the fake rain and probably prepared a whole speech to recite to you... its not that good though, most of it is deflective bullshit. He wont take his own problems into account at all.

- If you don't take him back after that then he may even resort to the old boombox by the window trick.

- I don't think he'd hit the depression or acceptance stages of grief, though. He's a tempermental character and he resorts to anger if something doesn't go his way. So the traits he shows through this whole ordeal is frustration and desperation.

- He has a strict victim complex too. So he's most likely never going to understand what he did wrong in the relationship.

- Even if he did realise what he did however, he isn't apologising. He expects you to understand and forgive him despite this.

-It would take him a long while to get over you.

-You were one of the only people who would put up with his shitty personality, who could make him feel so loved and adored. It had been a long, long time since someone had made him feel such a way. It was such a fleeting experience, and he will not be recovering from the loss of your love any time soon.

I have been losing my shit over this damn panel for the past THREE DAYS (more or less) and I need to yell somewhere so it's gonna go here.

It all began when I was writing my fic (I think this was for My Immortal), and I needed to recap significant hakukai moments. And I remembered "hey, I should include this one thing saguru said during sunset manor that was stupidly super gay for no fucking reason" bc like, yea hakukai not canon, but if canon was gonna give me a whole ass confession then I might as well use it. So, like always, I head to mangadex to look for this panel... Except... It's not there... The line... The line's not there... But I remember... I remember something about "the only one to disrupt/disturb my thinking/mind"... Where... I didn't imagine that right? I mean I read a lot of google translated Chinese fanfics but... I REMEMBERED reading that line... In a manga... In English... ON mangadex...

This is where I should mentioned, that if you weren't around for the Great Collapse of Mangadex. Then... Well, so there was this period of time where mangadex just DIDNT EXIST. Bc there was some cyber?? Attack??? On the site??? I can't fully remember. But it like wiped out most of the site. The mangas r just, gone. So mangadex fixed it. It took a while bc they figured "might as well revamp our site and system". And they did. And it's great. And it looks beautiful now, even more than before.

But see. The line I remembered? Yea... Yea that was from before The Collapse. And mangadex let multiple translation groups submit their translations. So u can read diff translations of diff group, see how things are interpreted differently... And... I remembered this one, that I posted here up top, but I remembered there was another. One that had The Line.

And it was driving crazy so, like usual, I asked my cn friend. But my cn friend (why am I still saying that, it's @beingvv , that's the friend) has A Life, and isn't always online, and we love that for ppl. So. I'm still crazy. I can't trust my own damn mind and memory bc why tf do I remember something that isn't there (happened before btw, but that has nothing to do with this).

Luckily, I have a friend who knows jp. UNLUCKILY, I don't have the jp raws and it's from chapter 300 and we are in the thousands. So, I went back to losing my mind. Until I found it again, and realized. Heyyyyyyy there's a whole ass ANIME. So like the baggage my dear friend had the misfortune to be saddled with, I went to find the ep, timestamped it, yelled begged them for help.

This is where I lose my damn mind the first time in the recent weeks.

In any case I feel validated. Told beingvv about my discoveries (for whenever they come back) not that they need it cn fandom already got the correct translation. And finished writing my fic.

And then Saguru's comeback was announced.

So I've been losing my shit for 3 days on twitter, looking at all my fave KR and JP accounts and the things they say.

And then someone dug up and old tweet thread that talked about this panel. Specifically, op talked about the nuance in the word choice used.

They pointed out that gosho used specific words/phrases that really wasn't needed if all he wanted to say was "the only one who drives me crazy/mad." But he did used them. It's specifically "his thoughts/mind" that's being driven crazy. And that if he wants to just talk about Saguru's mind being disrupted/confused, then there's rly no need to use the words "go crazy"

And then they wrote out a whole symbolism about clocks and saguru and being broken down/disrupted and I lost my shit over the clock symbolism, sue me 😭😭😭

Here's a second fact. I'm SHIT at Thai. I've been bad at this language before I got good at English. My Thais as good as an elementary student. Every time I understand difficult words I get confused bc where did I know THAT from???

In any case, point is, I saw that tweet, read the text, immediately understood it and began losing my shit all over again... And then I doubted... Bc like, I'm not good with this lang anymore... Maybe im understanding it wrong? So I look up Google.

So I was like, damn guess I'm wrong, read too much into this. BUT SEE BC I LIVE HERE I HAVE FRIENDS WHO ARENT A DISGRACE. And so my friend said:

But I would not have been losing my shit over this stupid panel for a month if it wasn't for the fact that eng translation was missing a pretty crutial thing in what Saguru said. I don't know if this was a mistranslation or a misunderstanding or something, but the English translation was lacking. And I love and have always been thankful and grateful to the ppl who worked hard to translate mangas in their free time, and do it all for free, bc I haven't had any real way to rent/borrow mangas from renting shops/libraries in years. So this was one of the only ways I can read mangas. But, even as I checked the raw panel with Google lens just now, even google translate it as "the only one to make my thoughts go round." No where was there any mention of "case" and "solving." So that's just, multiple accounts of ppl who knows jp, including native jp speakers, all saying that this panel is Saguru saying "the only one to drive me crazy". And man I rly hope this doesn't make me come off as ungrateful or like shitting on the translation team, I'm rly not. But yea. Uh. The translation was wrong. And I remembered that there used to be a diff eng translation. And it led me to go to all this trouble and journey to find out what was actually said. And here we are, at the end.

The only one who could disrupt Saguru's thinking.

The only one who could disturb Saguru's mind.

The one whose sole existence drives him mad.

The only one to make his mind obsess over till he's driven to madness.

Or to use the symbolism mkppyong wrote: the only one to break down the clock, the precise and accurate mechanism, that is Hakuba Saguru.

Idk why in the world you’ve got people investing their finite existence on this good Earth giving you grief. Some of your stuff might not be everyone’s cup of tea (pleasing everyone is an impossibility, after all), but it doesn’t even come close to the kinds of things my favourite hardcore/“problematic” (<= self-described, including the quotations, lmao!) Halsin/bg3 writers and artists post. And I don’t see anyone clutching their pearls in their comment sections.

Like, when I click on the profile of one of my favourite writers (which includes you! 🥰 But not this example, I love all your stuff!) and see that they’ve posted a story with a description like: “hardcore kinky stuff that you’re not into, Dead Dove: Do Not Eat”, I simply keep scrolling and maybe pick one of the hundreds to thousands of other bg3 stories I could choose from. But maybe that’s just me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(Ao3 has tag filtering, you guys, it’s amazing. Remember the fucking Dark Ages when Ao3 didn’t have that at all? How tf did we ever live like that? That’s the kind of shit you say Thanks for at family Thanksgiving. And don’t tell you guys haven’t figured out at least one of the dozens of ways to filter stuff out on godsdamn Tumblr of all places; we’ve been tweaking the etiquette of that for years!)

How utterly irrational it is for these people to look at such an openly Queer and Kinky video game — the likes of which I’ve never seen in the mainstream before (He-llo strategically advantageous BDSM scene! 🤤) — and decide that they’re going to go around policing how people iterate upon those pre-established themes. God, remember BEFORE AO3? Remember FFN when half the time, the PAIRING wasn't even properly tagged bc you could only tag two characters at all, so people would by default just tag the most popular characters to appear in the story? And instead of tags, you had genres, so you had to decide if you wanted romance/hurt/comfort or friendship/tragedy or what? (I'm a certified Fandom Old- on my old account I was in the first 10,000 users on AO3).

Yeah, people really are missing the point of this game- and it's no coincidence most of these folks are younger. (And a lot are exclus too; I've seen them get angry at the BG3 characters being canonically pan, saying that "pansexuality is a made-up Tumblr sexuality). So... totally blind to the interwoven history of queerness and kink. Not surprising.

I’m not posting your ask not because there is something wrong with it but because I will always do what I can to prevent putting any sort of spotlight on things that shouldn’t be highlighted. For the sake of the understanding of this all conversation, Anon is pointing out the many ways Taylor has been a target of Internet people (mostly for stupid reasons) and why he seems to be more of a target than others. They’ve mentioned racism being the only reason they can think of, that and people being blatantly mean on the Internet.

[My answer turned out to be some kind of thoughts dump that are more or less articulated and sometimes barely even legitimate points. So read them as what they are: just thoughts]

I globally agree with you. Many people on the Internet are not much different than uneducated bullies in school. They’re going to pick up someone to bully over a stupid reason and that’s it. And I mean it could be anything. Being a poc is one of them but we’ve seen people being targeted for being too old to interact with their fave (as many young people seems to see as some sort of crime if there is more than a 18 months age gap between two people saying hello to each other), too tall, too short, too rich, too poor or because they’ve once been seen in the same room as someone they don’t like. It’s all so very stupid. The reason why bullies are bullying never comes from the victim. They bully to feel better about themselves, because they’re frustrated and sad.

That being said, of course there is racism in this that shouldn’t be dismissed in any case. The constant talk about the shade of his skin, whatever it comes from director, casting people or people of the Internet is revolting in itself. People targeting because he’s not white enough or not brown enough or whatever other non sense you can read and here is disgusting. 

Is it the main reason why he’s a target? I don’t know. Probably. Is it the only reason? I’m not sure but I have theories.

Like said, being a public person automatically makes you a target.

In the case of Taylor, I have several ideas. And to be clear, none of the reasons I’ll list is me saying this is his fault or that he should act differently. Again, being the target of bullying is always the bullies’ fault and they should be changing their behaviors.

-Him being very present on social media is making him an easier target. Even if some of his posts could be very much handled by someone else, I believe many things are coming from him directly and it shows. There is a reason why public people stop using their accounts all together or give their accounts to be handled by someone else as a job. It’s almost impossible to do it yourself without threatening your mental health. It’s not natural for a human being (and brain) to be on the receiving end of that much attention, scrutiny and hundreds of thousands of people in general. It’s like mentally living in a zoo, without much breaks to breath. And look at what living in a zoo does to animals.

So Taylor still being here (and him still trying speaks volume about the person he is) doesn’t help. People tend to think they’re close-ish to him or can be close or can get to him or be seen or whatever and they thing they have some kind of rights over him. That they can held him accountable for everything and anything they want.

The thing is, when a public person completely disappear from social media, there can be another effect: "since they’re not going to read it, I can say the most atrocious things on their @ or DM, it doesn’t matter since no one is reading them". Which is kind of bullshit because when you said things on a public platform, even deep in the dark sides of the Internet, you never know who is reading and who you’re hurting. But it can work for the public person concerned, because all you have to do is never look at your public accounts and all of that disappear since these very brave (no) people only exist on the Internet.

-Him being kind and giving and generous could be a reason. It’s all theoretical obviously but someone who is nothing but nice can make people a bit itchy? Since people love to criticize they would try to find a reason to do it, even if there is none? 

-Him having an active fandom ready to defend him each time probably doesn’t help. People usually express themselves on social media to get attention, and it’s known that, very often, the meaner you are, the more terrible the things you say are, the more attention you get?

-Even if beauty privilege is a thing on certain situations, him being so goddamn beautiful and coming from a fashion background probably doesn’t help him at the start of his acting career. It’s hard to be taken seriously as an actor in general, but when your background could somehow (rightfully or not) imply that you got to the acting industry thanks to something else than you acting talent (by being too pretty for you own good, for example), people can be quick to react a certain way.

-…which is related to (hopefully) my last point. I’m not sure how to say that without sounding disrespectful because this is very much not my intention but… For now, his career is too light (and, like a previous ask was saying "romcom oriented" for now) for some people to take him seriously as an actor? Again, this isn’t my saying or saying anything about him or his amount talent but saying everything about people who are making him a target because of that.

You’ve rightfully mentioned many other things. The comparaison with Nick was inevitable, sadly. It happens all the time when a duo is making something big, people are going to take a side and compare because people love that unhealthy habit of comparaison.

You’ve also mentioned that stupid twitter people who woke up the other day and decided to wrongly use the queerbaiting debate ONCE AGAIN and throwing Nick’s name in the mix. It’s a all other subject that would deserve a whole post but that kind of fake and performative activism makes me so angry because it actually makes so much wrong (for everyone and for queer actors and actresses). Hiring openly queer people is a legitimate and important fight that should be fought but god some people are doing it all wrong. 

So yeah. All of this rambling to say: Yes, it’s probably racism sometimes. And yes, it’s probably other stupid reasons as well some other times.

Again for those who will be quick to misread my words and jump on the wrong conclusion.

An Interview with S. J. Ralston

How did you pick the name you create under?

It’s a line from the opening of the Aeneid that’s stuck with me ever since AP Latin in high school: “On account of the mindful wrath of cruel Juno.” It’s a synchesis, where the adjectives have been swapped from where you expect them to be; it’s Juno who is mindful and her wrath that is cruel, but rearranging them in such a way elegantly implies the relentless, vindictive onslaught that is to follow.

I would consider myself a plantser. Typically I start with an IDEA, writ large, center of the page. Then some key scenes will populate around it–dramatic moments, fun bits of dialogue, cool setpieces. At that point I get out my corkboard and red string and start trying to piece everything together, and if I’m lucky, the shape of the story will reveal itself to me. Sometimes it’s the classic parabola of rising and falling action, other times it’s been a ring, a tri-fold posterboard, a descending spiral, or a series of concentric circles. Then I fill in until the structure is complete and hope like hell that I can stick the landing.

I make a playlist for almost everything I write that’s longer than a few thousand words. Sometimes it’s for listening to while I’m creating (in that case, it has to be primarily instrumentals or I’ll get distracted), and sometimes it’s just for daydreaming to (in which case, the vibes must be correct, so I can construct AMV’s in my head).

When you finish a first draft and you *know* you’ve got something really good, put it down. For a month, six months, a year; until the glow fades, or you’ve fallen in love with whatever you’re writing next. Then come back and re-read that first draft. Take extensive notes, diagram the plot, profile the characters. Notice the holes, redundancies, missed opportunities, and inconsistencies. Then open up a blank document and *start over.*

Sometimes I like to think about how he originally got on the app because of links that Daniel or Armand or even fuckin Benji sent him, and he'd be patting himself on the back when he figures out how to stitch videos and make his own tiktoks 'correcting' historical information. And ofc because it's Marius he thinks he's the first vampire to be sneaky posting on there and he takes great pride in how modern he's being, doing right by his old Roman ancestors spreading the truth about history, etc etc

and I JUST THINK that would be Daniel lmao He's learned all this history from Marius, all these old dead languages and how they were pronounced and he's bored and wants to do something with that. And he's just so personable that people eat it up, he's got like minimum 60k views on every post.

But ON THE OTHER he's burnt up inside about how Daniel gets so many fuckin views and people praising his account in the comments when TECHNICALLY Marius is doing the same kind of stitches correcting people and getting crickets half the time, or horny comments from booktok people who are hot for what a cold, harsh professor he is and aren't actually taking in the facts he's trying to put out there😂

And like he's too proud to ask Daniel how to game the algorithm or what he's doing wrong, and just texts him links to his old Egyptian rap videos with disapproving emoji, and sometimes when they're on the phone he chides him for making a mockery of the great cultures of the past.

(Daniel isn't dumb though, sometimes he throws him a bone and stitches one of Marius's videos being like 'yeah this dude nails it, you guys should follow him'. And Marius doesn't acknowledge the thousand extra followers he gets from that, just tells Daniel he's not required to promote him simply because of their relationship, but Daniel knows that means 'thank you' in emotionally constipated old man)

So YEAH, Daniel's success causes a little tension at first but it settles into something nice because he knows posting something real dumb gives Marius an excuse to gently scold him when they're apart. And like when they're together maybe he takes a sneaky video of Marius trying to set up a fuckin ringlight or something so he can get better video of some old text he has, and Daniel holds onto that draft for blackmail purposes lmao

(Meanwhile Armand is off making 'watch me restock my guest room drawers' videos and everyone in the comments is bewildered by the lack of hygiene items and consumables. Like vampires don't need toothpaste and deodorant and mints, so it's all weird shit like the little toys you get from gumball machines and ink for fountain pens for the vampires who visit who prefer to use tools from the time when they were mortal)

In today’s case, not specifically bjd related, but I’m also sick of bjd accounts doing this too.

Today an artist I follow posted that they want people to unfollow them because if you’re not constantly liking or commenting, you basically don’t deserve to see their content. The account I was following was their “old” account which no longer shows any of the stuff they sell, it s just for promo, because they have a new account that is private for only the people who are willing to devote “real” time and attention to them which makes you “worthy” of having the chance to buy some of their art. They said following but not engaging basically hurts their reach because of the algorithm, so you’re not allowed to follow their new account if you follow more that a couple hundred other accounts because you won’t see them or have the time to “properly engage” therefore you’re dead weight.

Look. I’m a small business owner and a lot of my business is reliant on people being able to see and interact with my social media. I work hard on it and I’ll be honest that I don’t have a massive insta following because I don’t have free cash to pay for ads like others do. I’m sure though that I have a ton of “unworthy” followers, but why in the sweet fuck would I tell them to stop following me? Maybe it hurts my reach idk, but like I want people to enjoy my content. Maybe they can’t buy something right now, but they might want to later and if I tell them to fuck off because they’re not working hard enough for MY business, then they’re sure as hell not going to buy from me or engage with me.

Needless to say I unfollowed the artist. I have a lot of anxiety which makes me an “unworthy” follower most of the time. It’s hard to interact with people when I don’t have to and most of the time I’m using social media it’s just to look at dolls and memes and shit, so I’m not consciously thinking “must like, must comment” because I shouldn’t have to earn the right to look at a public page. I wouldn’t ever follow a private account anyway - too much work, but I mean I’m definitely not following or buying now.

I’m starting to see this as a trend in a lot of account especially if they’re massive accounts and honestly I get that instagrams algorithm is a nightmare, but I’m unfollowing left and right now because of all this. I can’t enjoy someone’s content if I’ve basically been told to fuck off for not enjoying someone’s content hard enough. I’m grateful for every like or comment or whatever I get so I genuinely can’t grasp the greed of having several thousand followers and a successful business and basically just telling your followers to fuck off like this.

Mod: I've noticed big accounts I follow (on my normie lurker account, I don't have a BJD one) are getting 1/3 of the likes they used to on some posts, like 700 when they used to get 2k on a selfie, or 60k instead of 150k, it's insta's algorithm which literally hides posts from users. might get dunked on for this but the way social media has framed mental illness as wholly outside of an individual's control has done a lot of damage to a lot of people. like ofc it isn't your fault you have depression or anxiety or bipolar disorder or whatever, and it isn't your fault if you can't afford (or don't want) therapy or medication, but the whole "I can't do XYZ because my depression" is not always healthy or realistic. if you're depressed, but spending the whole day in a dark room doing nothing, that will not help. they literally teach "opposite action" in therapy - you feel like laying in bed all day? get up and at least step outside and feel the sunlight. and I get it, I do, that is really hard sometimes, I have been there. but that doesn't mean it's impossible or outside the realm of possibility to turn on a light, open the curtains, make a cup of coffee, or put on some good music. and that may not help a ton, it may not help at all, but it's probably going to be more helpful than telling yourself it's impossible to do anything because of your mental health.

the amount I've seen people dodge accountability or responsibility with the internet "you can't help it" speak is absurd- both online and irl. I had an old roommate defend yelling at everyone and throwing things because she has borderline PD and "it's just part of splitting," while not working on healthier alternative ways to express anger or irritation. I've had a friend who laments her depression and anxiety, but she stays in a dark room all day and takes offense if anyone suggests opening the windows or going for a walk because "it isn't that simple," which it's not, but she does perk and do better when she does agree to go outside or open the windows- she just won't do it herself.

I'm not saying that small things will solve everything or cure mental illness, but getting stuck in learned helplessness does nothing but perpetuate bad patterns. and I don't think this culture of helplessness is entirely unrelated to the rise of mental illness as an identity/online community. there are thousands of forums, accounts, and websites glorifying a variety of mental illnesses (currently, tiktok seems to be favoring DID, ADHD, and OCD, much in the way tumblr favored anorexia and borderline personality disorder in the 2010s). if you reach remission in your symptoms, you often lose the ability to relate to these communities. and these communities often discourage healing, and center dysfunctional patterns as a form of identity. if psychological distress/dysfunction is a mainstay of how you view yourself, and of how the communities you're apart of identify you as in-group or out-group, you're probably not going to be too enthusiastic about trying to leave that behind. and these communities do justify and defend refusing to try to get better- it's always "they don't get it," or "maybe they're wrong."

I also think there's a marketing element to this, as there are to most online communities. DID influencers on TikTok sell merch. There's "BPD aesthetic" posts, and shirts that say shit like "borderline babe." money is lost by these people when you heal, so you're not going to encouraged to try.

there's also a misogyny aspect to it, to at least some degree. my old roommate attributed almost all her emotional responses to BPD, which, while accurate at times, did her shitty husband a favor in being able to get her to doubt everything she said or did when he was being shitty. My depressed friend, in her dark room, is almost completely reliant on her boyfriend, who was 23 when he started dating her at 17, because she "can't" do anything herself, despite being intelligent, resourceful, and all around a very capable woman. he benefits from her belief that she can't help herself, and I don't doubt her feeds into it- she'd lose her housing, her pets, her belongings, if she left him, as she doesn't work. she rarely sees friends when he's not around because she "can't" drive herself, and I don't feel convinced this is a coincidence. And I don't believe either of these women are at fault- they're fed this helplessness, by social media, by men in their lives, by well-intentioned friends attempting to be empathetic. But I don't believe they wholly lack agency either.

And again, I don't think "self-care" will cure or solve everything, but it's a step in the right direction. we are all crushed under the boot of capitalism, but the bosses and CEOs can't take away sunlight, or beautiful music, or laughter. and they benefit from convincing you that they can.

He laughed and walked over to where they knelt in front of the TV. “What’s the look for, babe?” He asked, placing a hand on the top of their head. They grinned and rolled their eyes, swatting at him. “I- okay, so I went over to my storage unit today and was going through a bunch of stuff, you know. Trying to minimize or whatever. And found this old box, just filled with old toys and shit. I found, like, a thousand old Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards and one of those, like, holographic Harry Potter chocolate frog cards? Remember those? Anyway, I also found this.” They handed him the thing attached to the wires; a 2003 plug & play Namco arcade joystick. “Oh, hell yeah! I haven’t seen one of these in years.” Asher took the controller from them and examined it. “I mean, I never had one but they had one at the dentist I went to as a kid. You know, plugged into a thick-ass 90s TV in the waiting room?” The box was deep purple and yellow, the sides covered in fading stickers featuring 80s era arcade games. The red bulb of the joystick still shone in the light but the buttons had gone matte from use and time. “Yeah, well. You’re looking at the thing that sparked my love of video games.” They took it back, grinning with all the warmth of nostalgic fondness. “It was my cousin’s technically but I kept stealing it. I mean, every day after school, I’d find some way to sneak into his room and get it so I could play Pac-Man. He didn’t really care. He mostly just hated me going into his room. He had a bunch of consoles already anyway; Dreamcast, GameCube, Playstation.” “Those… sure are consoles.” Ash fought back a laugh, trying to school his face into a neutral expression. “Oh, whatever, Asher. So he didn’t have an Xbox. It was… 2003? The Xbox wasn’t even out- wait… was it out?” They pulled out their phone. “It was totally out! I got one for Christmas that year! 2001?” Asher pulled out his phone too. “November 2001, you got it on the nose! Nice, dude!- wait, you got one for Christmas? Dude, Black Friday must have been hell that year! Climb the leaderboard?” He readjusted on the floor, leaning back on his arms. “Uh, well…” They sniffed, on the verge of laughter again. “No? There isn’t a leaderboard system on this one. There is in the other versions but not this one. So my friends and I would just, uh, write down our scores and compare when it was time to go home.” Ash nodded slowly. The longer they maintained eye-contact, the harder it was to keep a straight face. “I knooooow.” They whined, smiling. “Whatever, Asher. I’ll fail at Dig Dug by myself then.” They turned to continue messing with the cables around the back of the TV. “Oh, you got Dig Dug on there? Never mind, then! I take it all back! I mean, it is his life, I know she’s a huge red flag, but I always think “Who am I to talk shit about a person who doesn’t even know my existence?”. Been making that point over the past week, some peeps chipped in too. It is not about the love life or the 'are they friends or not' or the privacy whatsoever. It is not about a looser woman at all. Well, it is also sbout the gossip BUT!

It's about Benny Boy. He made hundreds love him by spoon feeding them with the he ain't the Hollywoo type, that he's private (the secrecy and mystery actually interested peeps too), cultured, educated and so so so on...

Like everyone knows that the famous folks are nothing like what they present themselves to be BUT boy was great at doing everything to cover himself. Did wonders for him cuz he has (HAD?!?!?!) thousands of adoring fans ready to always have his back, arms, ass or arteries even. He never gave them A BIG reason to doubt him.

Now, the friendship (or more) with fairy queen is basically complete opposite of who he always said he was. Sooooo nope, it's actually not about the love dramas/private life. It's about a liar who got busted, a man who thought he can have whatever he wants but turns out he can't.

I don't think starting this big drama is a bit much. The fans of his, from teenage girls to adults, have every right to be fucking mad at him. They invested time and money in him. And now it turns out that the man that they believed in so much (parasocial relationship much I'd say), thought he's on their side and supports them, is actually pretty fucking close with a (sorry for going a lil old testamenty here) generally bad person. It's not talking shite (I mean it also is, mostly cuz this is great source of jokes), it's demanding accountability for his words and actions. I mean like I know he never idk killed anybody and there are better things to do, but peeps are mad and they are in the right. It's basically MLM scheme Benny made and it's falling apart as we speak.

And I spoke about this a long time ago I think, but there is the centuries long discussion about how much celebrities/famous folks owe us. Can ye separate the art from the artist. And me (AGAIN MA PERSONAL) opinion is that ye can't. They theoretically owe us nothing. They have no responsibility to us, the commoners. BUT! When they chose actively to involve themselves with public causes and share their opinions? I mean their involvement with world events here, to shorten it. Then they do have the responsibility of their actions changing over them. If the famous folks don't wanna take the responsibility, prove credibility of their actions or be judged, they should keep their mouths fucking shut. 95% of time they have no authority to speak on the matter, yet they do. It's called performative activism.

So when they are outed to be who they really are in private (hello there Benny!) then yeee, go drag their asses. His fans basically sponsored his flop music career and whole livelihood actually cuz fan cons are his main source of income, and it turns out they were lied to. If they are mad and disappointed, let them be. Imma not even mad, not even disappointed. Imma just here like babe I told ye all so.

I noticed it here on tumblr, and was told some more about other parts of the web by ma muffins, but peeps are reducing it to it's personal life and none of our business. Which true but also not. Ye know who reduces it to celebrity love life drama only? People who try to excuse all his bullshite and try to minimise it, and don't see the actual problem there cuz it does not affect them personally. Wonder why would they do that hmmm? Something in common with Benny? just ma lazy thoughts x.x

If it really was just about the relationship mingling - Benny dating either his costar (as fans would like) or another someone, then yeee the drama would be like 50/50, probably more excessive than it should be. Fun but also not fun. This one is sadly not about that. It runs much much deeper.

im off one of my meds so i'm like highkey derealizing rn. and my head is also pounding at the same time. its like i'm having input lag to my body its weird. but anyway

i've been in this weird mindset where i'll see a historical video that my brain says is not popular enough to get widespread recognition and i'll just. download it. i've been downoading weird history political videos sort of? like i just downloaded this one about the civil rights movement where they interviewed a white man who joined a protest for equal right (in the way way way back days of black and white film)

i also have one saved of an interview on a gameshow thing of the last living person (at the time) to be a witness to the assassination of abraham lincoln. I saw this old guy talking on this show and i was like. no i have to save that. and part of me is like "ew am i being american. am i having a murica moment. is this the lifelong conditioning kicking back up?" but like no.... just because it's american history doesn't mean i'm being a common american scrublord , these are important things to preserve. and i am lucky enough to have stumbled upon them and i want to keep them and keep them safe for the future. idk. i just think the experiences of common people are important. i like stuff from just random passers by. i want to know more about how people thought and behaved in the past. we don't really have any recollection about the average joe's views of things throughout history, besides some notable outliers. Everything is sort of left up to authors, i think.

I wish more creedence was given to the account of the random bystander. I wish we didn't wait until journal pages were deteriorate past the point of even partial restoration to care about what an average person had to say. granted, im kind of talking out of my ass because i'm not that well versed in history, i only recently started liking it and before it was like repulsive to me fsr, but now i've figured out how to like it and why its interesting to me and i'm getting into it but. we're privledged enough to have a background of hundreds of thousands of years worth of written documentation but just, anyone. anyone with a pencil or pen or quill. there are societies that don't have that. there are cultures that have no histor yavailable. it feels bad to just, take our access to personal accounts for granted. idk. idk what i'm saying, really, like i said im derealizing rn so i'm like trying to bake using those dinosaur bity arm things instead of my hands basically. but. yeah.

For the fanfic asks for the New Year, 1, 9, 11, 18, and 20.

1. Do you have a word-count goal for the upcoming year?

In an IDEAL world, 372,000, but I know I won't be anywhere close to that. I think a realistic goal is more like 250,000, which gives me plenty of days off or days not hitting 1k -- my goal is generally 1k/day between all of my various projects (drabbles + whatever WIP of the moment) but sometimes I only drabble. Sometimes I just don't feel like writing. I'm trying to maintain my 2022 energy of not beating myself up too much about that.

9. Short term goals… what do you hope to complete this week or in January?

This week, I want to do daily drabbles, finish my Bucky Barnes Bingo Round 4 card, and add at least 2k to each my Shrinkyclinks WIP and my Steve/Joyce. I'd love to finish and post Steve/Joyce this month, but I'm not sure how long it's going to end up being... I've mapped out enough writing days on it this month to account for it ballooning to 20k, but god I hope it's shorter than 20k. I also want to write the first of my Patreon thank-you 5k stories this month, ideally.

11. Would you like to try any new fanfic genres or tropes this year?

Hmm... I really don't tend to intentionally write many tropes per se, except for A/B/O, and sometimes I write cabinfic. I think I might want to try to write a mystery/casefic for either Leverage or Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries if I can think of an idea for one that wouldn't make more sense to just write as an original story? Otherwise, I feel like at this point I know my niche: quiet character studies with a weird amount of food in them.

18. Do you typically post multi-chapters as you write, or finish it all and then start posting? Would you like to change your posting method? 

HA, HAHAHA, HA... HA. Um. Well. I tend to post multi-chapters as I write and then I never post the last chapter(s)? So I should. Change that. I'm determined to finish all of my Shrinkyclinks WIP before I start to post so that I DON'T just leave it hanging without a final chapter (again) like I do (most) other things. I have no fucking idea how I wrote 10k chapters ever-other day and posted MYEYNL as I was writing it? Like I truly have no idea how I did that? Yeah, I'd written a good 150k of the story before I started to post, but that's STILL a hundred fucking thousand words that I wrote as I posted. HOW? WHY CAN'T I DO IT ANYMORE? I feel like the answer is "I wasn't yet medicated" and while that was good for wordcount, it was Bad for Everything Else.

20. Any plans to work on original fiction this year?

If I don't say yes, then a combination of my own guilt, @reachmouse, and @dracosollicitus will probably eat me. Also my dad will yell at me more, because he's never not yelling at me about wasting my time doing anything other than working on original writing.

I don't know. I feel like it's stupid for me to have, like, goals or hopes or dreams, so I... don't? Anymore? I used to want to be a published author so badly that I cried about it every day and made myself sick over it and beat myself up so much if I didn't write daily, and now I'm just like... if it were meant to happen, it would have happened already because I'm Old As Hell and my writing Isn't Popular, so ::shrug::

I mean, I'll work on my shit, but I'm not actually like... expecting it to matter. I don't know. That sounds dire. I don't mean it direly. I just mean it like this:
