If you could come up with the storylines for each Lone Star character (not Owen) for the next season, what would they be?

OH THIS IS A GOOD ONE… (not owen) made me laugh thank you. this didn’t end up being Quite what you asked but here are my hopes for s5!:

marjan is easy: comphet realization to lesbian arc. I don’t even need them to give her a gf i just want them to Address The Closeted Lesbianism they’ve been handing me over the past four seasons. i want salim to come back (in person or in conversation) for the rule of threes and have it force her to reckon with a lot of assumptions she had about herself. im on my hands and knees about it. I’ve been rewatching with a friend recently and i fucking forgot that they have her say a line about how her favorite place to hide as a kid was the closet. remember those new bts photos where she’s basically wearing the lesbian flag as a headscarf. lone star writers room i am IN YOUR WALLS. also i want to meet her sister. i need someone to call her mouse

nancy my beloved… honestly i just really want a nancy begins episode!! i want to know why she became a paramedic, i want to know about her relationship with her sister and if there’s any particular reason it was a soft spot for her during the DNR episode… I don’t have any particular ideas for specific i just want to know more about her!!! actually I’d love her to have to confront Tim’s death a little more directly. they made that whole thing about Owen which is fucking crazy to me, I’d love for the next time TK gets hurt (lol) for it to be something that dredges that up for her.

grace… miss grace i want to see you angry again. no plot line in mind i just like it when she’s pretending she doesn’t get angry or stubborn, she is such a fascinating character study. i love when she’s a contradiction. she and carlos teaming up was one of my favorite things abt s3, i would be so jazzed to see more things of that flavor.

tommy. hm… I don’t think I have any particular storylines for her in mind but I want more of her and grace and judd together because they are so delightful and lovely and best friends. OH ACTUALLY. I want something with tommy and charlie. this baby that was named in honor of the late love of her life. o don’t know what that story would be but there’s something there for sure…

carlos is the same as nancy tbh, I want a real full carlos begins! I want to meet his sisters! I want to see more of the mess that was growing up gay and feeling out of place and trying to be what your dad would want even though he thinks you’re too soft for it. why did he do it anyways! I also would love to see him and his mom being more involved, partially because obviously they had a horrible loss and trauma and she saw it happen but also because I love andrea:) she’s everything 2 me

judd I have been waiting for them to make you captain since SEASON THREE!! i want owen to retire and i want them to expand on the tension we got for the period he was captain!! i want to see how the dynamic changes and how his past issues come up when he’s in charge For Good. i want to see him get emotional about it and i want him to be captain while wyatt is his probie if they put him back on the firefighter track after his recovery :) bc that would be fun conflict and i think everything they did with owen (traumatically lost whole crew, son on your team) would be 100x better with judd

mateo is also a difficult one for specifics. I feel like they’re relatively fair with him? even with the low screentime all the secondary characters are relegated to. I’d be interested in seeing more fallout about his cousin, and I LOVED what they did with him and captain tatum so anything of that flavor of earnestness from him is always so good. maybe he and tatum will be buddies off the clock :)

tk getting hurt in increasingly absurd ways is always a classic that I look forward to them playing into lol

misc: i want to see more big brother wyatt with charlie getting a little older, i want less owen solo-plotlines, more ghost/memory gwyn i love her, carlos with his curls, the vega twins being involved in something maybe? that would be fun and stressful gjfhdhf

EDIT: OH MY GOD I FORGOT PAUL. I ABANDONED MY BOY. ok paul deserves literally any kind of robust plotline. Paul begins for starters, but also so much of his trans plotlines feel a little fumbled. I want a really earnest well done episode that isn’t necessarily About him being trans, but his transness is a factor and it’s handled in a really genuinely good and relatable way. they OWE HIM AND US THAT!! i also would love to see more of the gay kids being in gay spaces :)

Oh gosh, only three??

Maybe it's cheesy but I love the proposal scene. There's so many layers to it: the fact it was episode 3x18 and TK woke Carlos up at 3:18 in the morning, just after Carlos told TK he can wake him up at 3 a.m. if he needs anything??? I love the red string of fate, I love synchronicity I love soulmates. I also love the fact TK holds Carlos' hands the way he did when he told him they make a pretty good team. I say it all the time, but they really do hold one another like that's the reason God gave them two hands <3 Also the way TK rocks back and forth with excitement? The same way he flipped the ring he was going to propose to Alex with but because of anxiety? If I'm going to love anything it's a reference let me tell you that much!

I have gone out of my way to show people the Lou story line because to this day it might actually be my favorite. It's so miniscule, in a way, in the grand scheme of things but nothing beats TK walking in, posed like this: 🧍‍♂️and asking Carlos if they were robbed. As if the COP would just be sitting in a mess of a living room if they had 😭

Saving Grace is tied with Push as my favorite episode and I'll occasionally think of Grace telling Judd, "You're so tall." and Judd replying with, "You're so beautiful." and feel the need to scream because I LOVE them so much. I have a spin-off I want to write based off a Tarlos AU that's in the work and I can't wait to write them falling in love because I love falling in love with their love.

Media consumption seems like the weirdest thing to call a hobby, but truly, that's what it is!

I love watching films that I don't know I'm about to love (Humboldt County, my beloved) , discovering new television shows that rewire my brain (looking at you AMC's Interview with the Vampire), listening to music that feels like sunshine (Cannock Chase by Labi Siffre, you will always be famous) or reading a book that makes me want to bite a brick (A Density of Souls by Christopher Rice ruined my life (affectionately)

If I'm not doing any of that, and this is going to sound so corny, but I write! I've been working on a novella for a little while as I'm trying to prepare something for grad school (that isn't gay firefighter fanfiction lol) and I was working on a book of poetry before realizing that I'm a much stronger narrative fiction writer than I am a poet (Ada Limón if I could just have a sprinkling of your voice please ma'am)

what's your favorite song/album right now?

Album wise it has to be Cowboy Carter. I've been saying it since forever, but Beyoncé truly is on a very different level than any other pop artist we have right now (and I like a lot of them! I loved eternal sunshine and I can not WAIT until Dua drops her third album in May)

If anyone is the music industry right now it is her because she is constantly reinventing herself as well and influencing the industry as whole. Did you know that she's the reason music comes out on Fridays now? Her impact !!

Anyways, one of my favorite genres of music is Classic Country; so think 1950s, 1960s Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Skeeter Davis, Lee Hazlewood, Glen Campbell; that whole bunch.

So, I was so excited to see what Beyoncé was going to cook up because that is a woman who makes sure each and every thing she makes is perfection and my god, it got as close as any of her work has gotten so far.

It also features an interpolation of Good Vibratations by The Beach Boys, who's one of my favorite artists so it feels like this album was made specifically with me in mind. Here's hoping Act III is rock because I need to hear her with Jack White again.

What are 5 things you want to see in Lone Star season 5?

Oh jeez, Anne, there is so much I want to see, but I will do my best to condense it to 5! Also, there should be no surprises that I am a slut for tarlos, so that's what most of my answers will be 😆

#1 which I think a lot of people have already mentioned, but I would love to see Carlos solve his father's murder within the first half of the season. I want to experience married Tarlos, without Carlos shouldering the burden of his father's death for too long! I want TK to be there for him the whole time through it, and I want them to be able to process the grief properly together! If we get some more TK or Carlos whump from it, great! So long as they are okay afterwards and can properly move towards the future together!

#2 I would actually like to see Iris in one episode, and make it a nice, happy one, with Carlos AND TK! I love her for being the only person that was there for Carlos when he had no one else during such a fundamental moment in his life. I think LS did such a disservice to her character for only including her in tense episodes, and having the last piece of actual spoken dialogue she had with TK, be something that made him spiral, although we did get a nice Tarlos scene from it. I think it was a mistake to not have a Carlos in the hospital scene for many reasons but also, so we could actually have seen Iris and TK reconcile properly. But alas, that is one of our biggest gripes with the show is having to fill in a lot of the blanks for ourselves. Thank God for fanfiction.

#3 give us TK and Carlos doing something nice, outside of the loft!! Despite what Tim may think, I know so many of us do want to see tarlos on a date, or running errands together! And it would give them a chance to actually have some good lighting, because damn is that loft dark as hell more often than not! Hell, make it a double-date, with Grace and Judd preferably, because we see the TK/Judd and Carlos/Grace relationship, but I can't really think of a time where they all interacted together, and I would loveeee to see the two married couples on the show spending time together and giving each other advice!

#4 More of the Owen/TK and now Carlos too, relationships!! Again, Season 1 TK and Owen is top-tier father and son, non-toxic dynamics and I miss it! I want them bonding and interacting over something that does not include one is apologizing to the other for something or tragedy!! Carlos needs a father figure, (which he was starting to get again with Gabriel! Thanks LS for that dumb decision) and who better to fill that role now than his father-in-law!

And #5, that I would pay good money to see, is literally any sort of spicy tarlos! So many of us would kill for a tarlos wake up scene, shirtless,of course. (You covered up Rafa's and Ronen's tattoos for a 4 second honeymoon scene, you can do it again for a 1-2 minute bedroom scene) OMG, have them spooning and holding each other! That is so tame but you know we would all lose our damn minds and be so happy for months to come!! Have them sloppily making out and then close their bedroom doors and we can fill in the blanks. Give Ronen his shower scene!! Show them being in love and having a very active and healthy sex life. Gay, married couples still very much enjoy having sex and being intimate, and I know the scenes we have gotten of them have been plot devices or to show their budding relationship, but still, throw the tarlos fandom a bone! Especially for everything they put is through last season!

You mentioning how some other half of the couples' storylines are intertwined with their s.o makes me think of something. We haven't had a same-sex couple in the franchise who consist of two main characters as far as I remember. Henren? Karen is a recurring. Mavid? David is a recurring. Tarlos? Carlos is a recurring. As much as I hate what they're doing with Chimney both he and Maddie are main characters in contrast, the same as Grace/Judd (I think they're main characters, correct me), Mateo/Nancy and Athena/Bobby. They could've made Carlos a main character if they want to make Tarlos more prominent in their show, but Rafa's contractually obligated to appear on a certain amount of episodes, which is kinda weird.

Yes! This is the one "argument" where Buddie fans make a valid point - none of the same-sex couples in the 911verse are of two mains and therefore don't *need* to be included on a weekly basis. The rebuttal from the anti-Buddie faction has always been "You already have Mavid and Henren. Why do you need more?" Never mind that there is no such thing as "too much queer rep" when tv shows can and do revolve around the straights. (I love OG FBI. Not one member of the community to be found.) There is a DISTINCT difference between a slash ship where one character only shows up a handful of times in an 18-episode season (for a few minutes each time) and a canonically queer MAIN pairing whose personal and professional lives overlap on a regular basis. We don't have to see Buddie being flirtatious to appreciate/recognize the significance of them doing their jobs while looking out for each other. (Nearly) Everything they do would automatically carry a heavier weight, just like how Grace allows herself to be a concerned wife while also helping the 126 complete a rescue. I can think of a few reasons why Rafael signed on to recur in the beginning - one of which may simply be for financial purposes since those actors make less and nobody knew how the show would fare. But if it at all had to do with wanting to test whether the audience would fall in love with Tarlos as easily as Tim & co. did during casting? I think there could be room for a change if the money is right. (One thing in favor of that possibility is that Rafael isn't locked into any long term projects. Just sayin'.)

1. For the Friends AU, is it okay to have a more 126-like setting but more Friends-like dynamics? Or would you rather it be a more distinctive AU, where the characters are in NYC and have different professions?

1. I might sound annoying, but surprise me 😂 I don’t really mind the place per say (canon setting or not//NYC or Austin? You pick), or what their professions are (they can be firefighters/cop still, or have the friend’s cast professions…whatever fits your narrative better tbh, I’m not picky).

But!!! I do want the apartment dynamic… like the 126 living in the same apartment complex/them as neighbours similar to Friends.

For example: Mateo and Paul living together (like joey and chan), Nancy and TK living together (like mon and Rachel)…. And let’s say Carlos being like Ross and phoebe being like Marjan, both having their own place elsewhere but spending majority of their time at Nancy’s and TK’s bc that’s where they all usually hang like in Friends. Something like that.

2. I would prefer for you to incorporate lone star canon events into this friends AU (not everything ofc! But whatever fits best in the way you portray things). I say this bc I feel as though some events are the essence of the 126 crew. For instance, TK’s sobriety is a big part of him and without it, I feel like it takes away from his demeanour/character all together. Moreover, I wouldn’t mind a mixture/double crossing between friends and 126 members’ personalities. For example: having a merge of TK’s “picking up strays” persona with Rachel’s “naiveness” and crazy antics.

One more thing I wanted to say regarding this, is that you can take the liberty on whether you want to add relationships or take relationships away, except for tarlos. Like for instance, even though mateo and Nancy are together in canon I wouldn’t mind if you pair them with other people, like doing a Nancy/marjan or Nancy/Paul instead, or add new characters into the mixture, etc.

3. Not really, I don’t have anything extra to add (apart from what I just answered)

(Ps: When I put “for example” its just a suggestion, you can choose whatever feels right for you to write or whatever fits. I just wanted to add examples for a better picture. I know I just mentioned the usual 126 hang people but you can also add grace/judd if you’d like…again you can take liberty on this)

I know who you are, you sneaky little anon you, and I would like to sincerely thank you for giving me this prompt because a) I can procrastinate some more b) it gave me an excuse to bring Lily back!!!

Remember when I said these were gonna be 100-200 words?! Good times, this is 737 words 😂😭

2: a kiss good night

After it was decided that TK and Carlos would take Lily home with them, to foster her for now, TK went into the precinct to grab Carlos' things.

They borrowed a car seat but were soon presented with their first challenge. Carlos would have to let go of Lily. Carlos would have preferred to just hold her on the short drive to the loft, but he knew he couldn't do that. He very briefly considered walking the whole way, but quickly dismissed the idea.

He was going to have to let go of her again eventually, and she couldn't be clinging to him forever, even though he wouldn't mind that in the slightest.

Once TK had installed the seat; ex-firefighters were handy to keep around; he gently lowered Lily into the seat before gently prying her fingers off his uniform shirt. The moment she wasn't latched onto him anymore she started waking up and crying.

Carlos, angel that he was, tried to soothe her in soft spoken English and Spanish but nothing really helped. In the end, he just buckled her in and got into the car, sitting down next to her, telling TK to drive.

Whatever he tried, Lily wouldn't stop crying and TK could see tears forming in his husbands eyes when he looked into the rearview mirror while waiting at a red light.

Carlos was holding Lily’s hand, trying to give her as much comfort as he could in the confines of the car, but she cried the whole way home.

As soon as TK put the car in park in the underground garage, Carlos and Lily were unbuckled and Lily was back in Carlos arms, being rocked gently. She stopped crying immediately.

Inside the loft Carlos stopped in the middle of the living room, not knowing what to do. Sensing how frayed his husband's nerves were, TK took charge, suggesting, “Why don’t you two get comfortable on the couch and I’ll order us something to eat. I’ll text the group chat and our parents. You just make sure Lily is okay.”

Carlos looked up at TK and pressed a grateful kiss to the corner of TK’s mouth, sitting down on the couch with Lily, after one handedly taking off his utility belt. From where TK was glued to his phone in the kitchen he could make out the gentle timbre of Carlos' voice, speaking softly to Lily, explaining where they were and that she was safe.

Figuring every kid loves pasta, he ordered dinner from an Italian restaurant before letting their friends and family know about the little girl they were fostering for now. They all wanted to know what exactly happened, how they could help.

TK replied that he’d get back to them tomorrow, but that they’d definitely need clothes for Lily, taking up Judd and Grace’s offer to stop by with some old clothes of Charlie later on.

Once dinner was eaten, he could see both Carlos and Lily flagging. It had been an emotional day for all of them, but definitely more so for those two. Right now, TK was kind of just along for the ride, but he knew it wouldn't stay that way. He was content to watch his husband bond with their little girl, helping the two of them in whatever way he could. His time would come, he was sure of that.

He corralled them into going to bed early, both of them knowing that Lily would sleep in their bed for the foreseeable future, no matter at what point they’d acquire a toddler bed for her.

After a quick pit stop in the bathroom, where Lily let TK hold her for a minute, eyes never leaving Carlos while he changed though, they were crawling into bed.

Carlos was lying on his usual side of the bed, Lily right next to him, smack in the middle. TK made sure they were both tugged in before laying down on top of the blanket on Lily’s other side, wanting to stay with them until they fell asleep. He gave Carlos a kiss goodnight over Lily’s head, before pressing a featherlight kiss into the little girl's hair.

Once he was sure they were both fast asleep he sneaked out of bed and softly slid the bedroom door closed behind him.

TK got to work cleaning up their leftovers and the rubbish from dinner while waiting for Judd and Grace.

Lola, I just finished Love Game (again) and I have a question!

At first Carlos is so against the idea of buying property in New York and canceling all these viewings and staying at the hotel but at some point he does get an apartment (obv).

What made him get an apartment (tk, duh! 😉), when did he get it?! What’s it look like??? 😂

I wanna know all the things!!! (Could live in the Love Game world forever ❤️)

HELLO! THANK YOU FOR THIS ASK YOU KNOW I AM UNHINGED FOR THE LOVE GAME UNIVERSE.

Yes, you're right. Chapter 2 Carlos is very against the idea of permanency in NYC. You'll recall that he was never actually the one who had the idea/made the decision to move - that was a joint Tío Fernando and Gabriel Reyes call, and Carlos went along with it because he trusted their judgement. However, he never felt that he would be at home in the city, and I think he always had in the back of his head that he would be returning to Austin in the next few years (I think he was praying that Tío Fernando would change his mind) so he never put down roots.

The apartment he has in Brooklyn is a rental - he doesn't own it, and even though I never wrote this, I believe that Carlos and TK lived there until the academy was built (TK moved in with Carlos six months or so after the end of Love Game, but they went for dinner with Grace and Judd once a week - gotta make time for surrogate Mom and Dad). Once they had the facilities to train in Austin and Judd agreed to move back, they gave notice on the apartment and moved to the loft. I think that (post Match Point) once they adopt again, they'll move into a bigger place, but Carlos will never sell the loft because it has so much sentimental value.

As to what the apartment looked like - I could draw it I guess? I did that once for another one of my fics and then my beautiful friend @stardisnightarchive fixed it for me 😂 But in short - I think it's a double floor apartment in an older building (boujee but Carlos is pretty well off due to his success), two bedrooms, high ceilings, white walls, floorboards, a fair bit of natural light from the windows on one side.

The ground floor has an open plan kitchen (with wrap around stone benches) and living area, plus a small bathroom room off to the side and a study nook. Then, there are stairs leading up to the second floor with a carpeted hall and 2 bedrooms, the master has a walk in robe and the big ensuite bathroom with the bathtub, rainfall shower head and the infamous mirror 😏

Also, Carlos has a few indoor plants but struggles to keep them alive with all his travel, so he's constantly buying new ones because he refuses to have fake plants in the house.

“When we made Clerks, I didn't even dream about going to a film festival,” Kevin Smith told me a couple of years ago on the red carpet at the Philadelphia Film Festival screening of the documentary on his life called Clerk. “We were dreaming about going to the independent feature film marketplace. I didn't think the film was festival-worthy, let alone Sundance. While we were making that film I never once thought, ‘Oh my God, what if somebody makes a documentary about me one day?’ That’s mind bending.”

Yes, Kevin Smith has had a long, strange trip in the last thirty or so years. This film, directed by former film journalist turned documentarian and Smith’s long-time friend Malcolm Ingram, gives a pretty good overview of the life of the head of the View Askewniverse.

As noted above, this film has been making the rounds of film festivals for a couple of years (which explains why Clerk ends on Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, not Smith’s more current film Clerks 3), but now it is being released on video. (For hard copy fans, VHS and Blu-Ray copies of Clerk will only be available for purchase via Mercantile Instinct's website – www.mercantileinstinct.com.)

Clerk takes a good look at Smith’s life – an aspect which fraught right off the top because his professional career is so wide-ranging, in subjects, in different mediums and even in quality. (After all, this is the guy who wrote and directed Yoga Hosers and Tusk.)

The most interesting part of the film, somewhat naturally, looks at Smith’s early filmmaking career, and how he was learning as he went on making such classics as Clerks and Chasing Amy (as well as some more problematic films like Mallrats and Dogma).

Looking at his halting steps towards film stardom – as shared by Smith and members of his regular troupe like Brian O’Halloran and Jason Mewes (surprisingly there is no appearance by Jeff Anderson) as well as some of the then-unknown actors Smith helped to break (including Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Joey Lauren Adams) – makes for some intriguing looks behind the scenes.

However, while his career as a writer/director (and sometime actor) pretty much peaked in those early years, he has worked in an interesting if sometimes disappointing group of films ever since. (He briefly retired from filmmaking after a traumatizing experience working with Bruce Willis in Cop Out.)

However, in the mid-late period of his career, Smith has branched out and reinvented himself as the ultimate fan boy creator, taking on such diverse interests as comic books (creating and selling), opening and running stores (including reopening the original Clerks store), social media, podcasting and finding what seems to be his true calling as a public speaker, doing long lectures and Q&As on his passions and his career.

Of course, one of the great dramas of his life happened after one of those appearances, when Smith had a major heart attack and came close to ending. It has led to many changes in Smith’s lifestyle – a great loss of weight, a new seriousness of purpose and a decision to throw himself more fully back into filmmaking. (In Clerk, Smith acknowledges that he did not want to die and have Yoga Hosers be his last film.)

Still, in the long run, Smith is happy with the path his life has taken.

“I'm sure if I go back in time and tell the young me like, ‘Hey, keep this up. They're going to make a documentary about you,’ he’d be like, ‘What did we do? Who did we kill? Why did that happen?’” Smith laughed to me when I spoke with him at that red carpet interview. “Just you live long enough and fucking they make a documentary about you. But yeah, there's a lot of things I would love to tell that kid. I wouldn't change a fucking thing, because all of his choices led to this moment for me, which absolutely rocks.”

Clerk shows many of the moments which absolutely rocked him.

I completely agree with Carlos being gaslit about his relationship with his family, but especially his dad. It feels like everyone but TK is like, yes, they didn't support you when you were younger and when you came out, but they've always loved you, and they are trying now. Just because they are trying now doesn't erase Carlos's hurt, frustration, anger, anxiety and inadequacy he must have felt. Love doesn't excuse their actions, especially when their actions made Carlos feel so alone.

The events that took place in the finale should definitely have been spread out between 3 episodes. They needed to give Carlos time to process his grief, and even TK, who must have already felt the weight of not having Gwen there, and then his father-in-law is murdered. I would have liked to maybe even see TK and Carlos talking about the loss of a parent.

I didn't really mind Iris being Carlos's best man because there was very little focus on her, but there were definitely better and more meaningful choices -Andrea, anyone from the 126 or maybe even Grace.

Whilst I love Judd and Jim killed the storyline, I also think this would have been in the ep before the 2-hour finale.

I don't even know how I feel about the Robert storyline if I'm honest. I feel like we might see more in season 5.

The acting was all-around amazing, especially Rafael, Jim, Ronen, Benito, Rob and Roxana (I might as well list the whole cast 😂) so it's kind of a shame that the finale was a little too rushed and they cut so much out. It actually takes a while to film 30 minutes of footage.

I thought all of the cast brought their A game to this season, and were maybe underserved by the writing and plot structure on occasion.

A meaningful life to get burned.

Perfect life, the career, the wife, the family. You could have everything you ever wanted only for a history; a past person you used to be come crashing out before you. Judd knew who he was now was nothing to the man he was in his more so playboy ways. Before he met Grace. The day she helped him through a call, the day he heard her voice the calmness in her tone, her optimism that it would be okay. He knew with that twisting in his gut that she was someone special. That was the day he fell and the day he had become whipped for her.

Grace was his love, the women he would always go to bat for, the day she was in the hospital after her car wreck had been the worse day of his life. He wanted to grow old with her. She made him better, the best version of himself. He never felt that fear before; the fear that they may have had their last kiss, last hug. That he held her for the last time. It was a fear he held inside of him. And now that fear had subsided, but it also had returned with the news he had to break to her. His past was aiming at him, to bite him in the ass. Judd could admit before Grace; before being a firefighter he was jumping ride to ride from town to town, he was flirting with any girl that was willing to give him attention. And he slept around; only one night stands. But still he had always been careful; or so he thought. Until the kid showed up at the firehouse, and at first I thought it was a harmless kid, wanting to learn more about the business of being a firefighter. Of the tools we used to save a life; it never crossed his mind that he was why the kid Whyett was here. Yeah from a glance the eyes reminded himself of a young Judd, but no it was impossible. Even when Whyett had uttered the words; I’m your son, my mother and you had a night together years ago. He felt stunned, he felt confused his mind kept racing back to that time, who? Even when the boy uttered her name “ Marlene Harris.” The name didn’t ring a bell, and honestly if the accusations were true; was I the dick who didn’t remember a women I slept with?

I didn’t know the answer; I had kept this news to myself for days. Judd had discreetly let one of the doctors run a DNA test on his behalf; he ensured it was someone who wouldn’t cross paths with Grace. She needed to hear about his sins from him; not the voices of rumors. He had just gotten off the call; as he dragged his feet out of his truck. Loud clicks of the door shutting as he let the phone drop into his jacket pocket. The navy blue hitting the skin of his arms.

He was the father; it was true. He couldn’t imagine the shake this news would cause for himself, for his wife and their newborn child; Charlie had a brother; and he was the idiot that let countless years pass by. Judd didn’t want to lie to Gracie, he knew it would backfire, she also had the ability to know when he was inner spiraling on his own. He recalled that morning when he laid awake in their bed, his arms pushed to his sides, as he stared at the ceiling. Wondering thoughts of what ifs; she had her dark hues on him as she asked. “ Jud.. are you okay? What’s on that mind of yours?” In that sweet voice that bought the calmness within the storm. He had brushed it off; uttering a lame excuse. “ Rough call last shift, I’m okay. Get some sleep baby.” He forced a lingering grin as he tilted his head down to her; pressing a linger graze of his lips against her forehead. “ I love you.” True words he did, more than anything. That’s why right now he felt like he was wobbly off his feet, each step felt like pain. The thought of disappointing her; the women he loved.

Hand ran along the nob of the door, as he pushed his frame inside. As soon as he closed the door behind him, he had scanned the living room, kitchen no sign of her. “ Gracie.” He called; as he followed up. “ I need to tell you something.” Something that might alter our life; but that thought was kept to himself.

Hi Lola 🥰 I hope you're enjoying your time away from Tumblr and taking care of yourself!

OMG I love this question 😆 Haha for me, the 3 best would be Carlos, TK and I think Judd! Carlos and Judd because I'm sure they have some survival skills they picked up while living in Texas, and we know Judd has gone camping before and that man has to know how to hunt! TK because of his medical skills and his ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations really well! But he's also a danger magnet so we would need to keep an eye on him for his safety! And I adore them all and you need to surround yourself with people you love for your sanity in this situation 🤣

The 3 absolute worst characters for me (no one come at me 😆) Michelle Blake, because while she may be great for medical emergencies, listening to her voice and the way she talks will push me over the edge, Pierce because he would drive everyone nuts by insisting everything has to be done HIS WAY, and the 3rd one is harder, hmmmm. Haha baby Charlie 😂 because she is an infant and not only would she be unable to contribute to our survival, if she cries that would attract danger and also make me an anxious wreck because I do not do well around crying children!

Oh wow Lola, how could you possibly ask me to choose a favorite!?!? Well you know Push is in the top 3! The entire ice storm arc is a masterpiece and the way they shot TK waking up in the hospital alongside Grace having Charlie, and the music choice, deserves an Emmy! I was also torn between the Soulmates scene and when Carlos comes home with Lou 2 and TK making them dinner but now that I have written my Soulmates scene thoughts, it's that one, 100% 🥰, because we have TK having a breakdown over what their future could be but also being so selfless in giving Carlos an out and I LOVE how Carlos hadn't even considered leaving TK 😭 I remember so well how happy that little detail made me, like yes, damn, look at how much Carlos loves his man!! Then we got Carlos' first "baby" and lives were changed, and TK collapsing in Carlos' lap and holding him while crying will always have me in a choke hold! And it's just acted so beautifully and there's sooo much raw emotion and I will never get over how we almost DIDN'T get it!! So yeah, still Soulmates every second of the day!

I am so boring and honestly would put $500 towards my credit card 🤣 Oh no, I would actually use $400 of it to pay my partner back for something that I still need to do after a few pay checks 😆

Oh the most annoying instrument my mind thought of when it's poorly played is the violin, but really any of the string instruments that use bows can sound so jarring when played wrong! I think it's the equivalent to nails on a chalkboard!

Season 3 Character Highlights

Character: Grace Ryder

Favorite 3 scenes:

3x04 “Push”: I will forever enjoy Grace giving Billy a piece of her mind, and really who says stupid things to someone in labor. The weasel comparisons were hilarious.

3x05 “Child Care”: The kitchen scene after finding out about Wyatt. This scene was raw, it was full of valid emotion, there wasn’t anyone to blame, but so much hurt. The scene at the end of the episode with Judd and then with Marlene were also great, the acceptance and respect was clear.

3x11 “Prince Albert in a Can”: The vulnerability that she showed both to Judd and to Carlos felt so authentic. I loved how she decided that she and Carlos were going to figure out who made the swatting call and helped them both get their power back.

Favorite 3 lines: funny, heartfelt, or ridiculous

3x03 “Shock and Thaw”: “Billy, I read that there are two reasons that we do anything. There's a good reason, and then there's the real one. So, how about you just admit it. When you saw a chance to shutter that place permanently, you couldn't resist. You couldn't stand to see that house thrive under Captain Strand. Billy, I don't even want to think about what your 126 brothers would say if they could see you right now. I hope you think about it, though, and I hope it keeps you up at night the way losing the 126 kept my husband up at night, Billy! He thinks I don't know, but I do, and dammit, Billy, I promised him that I would stay relaxed, and I'm not feeling so relaxed right now, so how about you get your sandwich, and you get out.”

3x04 “Push”: “Billy, if you are on your way to an, "I told you so," I will rip your weasel tongue out, stick it to that windshield just to watch it freeze.”

Favorite 3 dynamics:

Judd, Charlie, & Wyatt: Grace doesn’t love anyone only half way, she loves them with her whole heart. She let her self be vulnerable, and the way she immediately included Wyatt as part of the family was a very selfless action.

Tommy: Tommy is Grace’s voice of reason when she gets too stuck in her faith. Grace has a strong relationship with religion, dating back to when she worked at the prayer hot line. Tommy is the one that is able to cut through what Grace thinks she should do based on ‘Christian’ ideals. Ex: Telling Grace she wasn’t Jesus, when they were talking about Dave.

Carlos: Like many people, I had been waiting for this team up since at least 2x05 so when we finally got them interacting in 3x11 I was so excited, and they did not disappoint. (I have even started a fic series based on them being a support group for each other in regards to their significant others.

3 things we learned:

Do NOT mess with her family: Angry Grace is terrifying. She is such a kind and loving person, but fiercely protective of those she loves. Her scenes with Billy, with her being able to rant at him about how badly his actions had hurt her husband, and the rest of their fire family.

Her faith: There are times that she takes the teachings from church to mean that she has to suffer. We saw this in 2x10 when her back wouldn’t allow her to move out of the backseat of the car at the grocery store. We saw it again with the whole Dave situation.

Sarcasm Queen: Season 3 was full of quippy and sarcastic Grace, one of my favorite versions of her! Her banter with Judd is fantastic.

3 hopes for season 4:

More life outside the call center or maybe more time with others that work at the call center. – The call center is the one area that I think the OG 911 does a bit better. We have really only had Grace at dispatch, where in the OG we have had multiple people. We didn’t even get names until the end of Season 2 or the beginning of season 3. I would like to see her interacting with Joel and Brie, or even a new recurring character.

Grace & Charlie – I just want to see more of Grace and her baby girl

More Judd & Grace – They just have such great chemistry that their scenes are so fun to watch (even when they want to make you cry).
