but oh my god…the story was very interesting. i was extremely invested in it bcs it kept surprising me! and not in a way that was confusing, but good little twists that i wasn’t expecting and had me actually yelling and scaring my dog or blushing so hard my face was hot. the reveal with the fake vincent?? rosa’s background??? the fact that it was revealed to be marius who gave her that note?? THE SCENE WHERE SHE HOLDS THE GLASS UP TO HIS NECK AND ASKS HIM FOR A REASON TO TRUST HIM?????

some absolute fire lines actually had me screaming bcs who told marius to say stuff like “if i die right now, i’ll never get to see what she looks like in that dress.”

and and AND “who gave you permission to speak to her?”

finishing it with the softness of the last few scenes 😭 the way he was willing to let her go if that was what she really wanted 😭😭😭😭 THEN THE END??? THE WAY THEY LOOK AT EACH OTHER AND CHOOSE EACH OTHER??

Rambling about Vader in Kenobi:

I was thinking that when we see Anakin again that yeah obviously he’ll be evil y’know he’s Darth Vader now.

But the presence he has the second he’s on screen is different. He somehow manages the to be so much more intimidating than normal. Obi Wan gets sick and dizzy when he senses Vader’s presence everyone goes quiet when he strides through the village.

And then he’s chasing Obi Wan. He has Obi Wan Kenobi jedi knight running for his life. We’ve seen rebels fear Vader but to see Obi Wan. OBI WAN. fear him its like a whole new feeling of dread. Like Vader isn’t just the big bad we’re told about we’re shown him being the big bad. He isn’t chopping soldiers down quickly he’s dragging people on the ground while they groan in pain, he’s snapping necks he is making examples of the locals.

Its different like yeah people fear Vader, soldiers fear Vader, but now Obi Wan fears Vader. Obi Wan Kenobi runs scared from Vader. Like genuinely scared tripping over himself can’t catch his breath can’t stop shaking scared.

He has Obi Wan running scared from him. And then there is THAT moment. When he drags Obi Wan through the fires. And I don’t know why that scenes hits me so hard that I had to look away first time watching and then rewatch the episode to double check I saw what I saw. I don’t know why it makes me so uncomfortable. Like I watched Anakin burn just fine. But it was different for Obi Wan I think. The moment Vader set them rock thingys on fire while maintaining eye contact with Obi Wan I knew what would happen.

Like Obi Wan has been haunted by Vader and has had nightmare after nightmare thinking Vader burned to death and then he meets Vader for the first time in 10 years and he’s treated like a little game of chase and then tortured and burned and tormented by the boy he raised. All that guilt comes to a boiling point and he’s forced to suffer some sort of twisted justice for what he did.

Obi Wan’s “What have you become?” And Vader response being “I am what you made me” like Vader is just playing into that guilt and that fear that he’s got to sense Obi Wan has. They’re so connected through the force that Vader would be dumb not to know how much Obi Wan is hurting seeing him like this.

Its makes me tense up and the camera is like shaking and you can’t really see what’s happening to Obi Wan but you can h e a r it and its horrible I love it.

Obi Wan now knows first hand how unbelievably helpless and painful he made Vader feel. Imagine what he feels towards Vader and himself now.

And its not gorey. It just the context and the editing and Vaders words and Obi Wan’s screaming in pain and he’s helpless Vader makes him helpless. Vader makes Obi Wan look pathetic. And purely a selfish need to make Obi Wan hurt and a need to make Obi Wan feel a sliver of pain Vader’s felt. He’s taking out his anger on Obi Wan and dragging him threw flames is apparently just the beginning. Like I get fidgety and upset thinking about what Vader would’ve done to Obi Wan if he hadn’t escaped. It just makes me hhhhh.

The whole scene is so dark and awful and its just horrible.

Its my favourite scene in all of Star Wars.

Writing very, very pre-canon is great because there is so much delicious irony you can use! I can have Yue Qingyuan write in a letter:
