I love the fact that just about all the Hermits have something else going on right now.

Whether it’s Vault Hunters, the Create series, being part of the Empires crossover or a personal series I just love seeing them having a great time and all the shenanigans that are going on.

it’s been so long since you sent that but guess who was randomly inspired at two in the morning!! also i apologize, i was so focused on the lines that i forgot it was a “dancing” prompt. they are ABOUT to go dance, you’ll see, but anyway. this is still sweet and adorable i promise <3

Belle looked in the mirror for the tenth time, adjusting her necklace, tilting her head to take note of her earrings and the little curls of hair left by her ears. She looked elegant, royal, even. She hardly felt as though she could recognize herself. She was no longer Belle LaRue, village farm girl. She was now Princess Belle, soon to be crowned Queen of France.

Her new husband came in from his dressing room, fixing the cuff of his coat as he scanned the room with searching eyes. “Darling, have you seen my pocket watch?”

“It’s not on your nightstand?” She asked, turning around and leaning back against the vanity.

Adam looked over and spotted it at once. “It is,” he huffed. “I thought I had brought it back with me.” He picked it up and walked over to Belle, fitting the chain’s end into his waistcoat button hole.

He reached her before it had been done, so she promptly took over and set everything just right. She then looked up at him, adjusting his cravat and making the bow even.

“Thank you,” he smiled, admiring her concentrated face.

“Mhm.”

She finished fixing the cravat and started fiddling with the buttons on his coat. Adam’s eyebrows drew together. “Something the matter?”

“With your suit? Never,” she smirked.

“I meant with you, darling. Your mind seems elsewhere.”

Belle’ eyes flicked up to meet his for only a second before she turned away, looking at the scattered objects on the vanity surface: A gilded hairbrush, a dish full of rings, box full of earrings, ribbons strewn about…

Adam caught a glimpse of her face in the mirror’s reflection. He gently placed his hands on either of her shoulders. “What’s wrong, my love?”

She sighed, relaxing at his touch. She turned around, finally meeting those sparkling blue eyes of his. “How many guests are coming, again?”

Her husband looked to the side in thought, tilting his head like he was tossing around rough estimates. “A hundred or so? Perhaps more.”

“Okay,” Belle nodded, looking away again. Before Adam could say anything more, Belle was stepping out of the comforting circle of his gentle embrace and absentmindedly touching her earrings again. “We should go down now, yeah?”

Adam stood in place for a moment, then took in a breath and followed after her. Belle took his arm when they reached the top of the stairs. Adam never missed a beat, bending out his elbow for her and guiding her down the steps in unison.

When they reached the foyer, Belle unhooked her arm from his to adjust the skirt of her dress. At once she recognized a few of the really important guests, royals from other countries, diplomats and dukes and duchesses that had been members of nobility since before they could speak. Belle could feel her heart pounding in her chest, going over the dialogue she had practiced in her head.

“Belle?” came her husband’s soft voice. When she met his gaze, he was looking at her with concern on his brow and worry in his eyes. “Darling, is everything alright?”

She kept her eyes on his for a moment. She was almost embarrassed to admit the truth to him. He had fallen for her bravery, her courage in the face of unexpected encounters. And now, what, a royal ball full of pompous strangers was leaving her shaking in the unimaginably expensive shoes that her husband insisted on buying her?

But then again, she couldn’t lie to that face. She trusted Adam more than anyone, she loved him more dearly than words could express. She let out a sigh. “I’m a little nervous.”

Adam smiled soberly, reaching for her hand. “Don’t worry, so am I.”

Belle returned with knitted eyebrows, “Really?”

“Of course, I am. Our first ball as husband and wife, everyone’s going to be staring,” he replied, side-glancing the ballroom that was slowly filling with mingling aristocrats.

“Yeah… But I thought you liked the balls, all those fancy events.”

“I do, mostly because I can dance with you,” he smirked. Then his face fell a little more serious. “But… It’s different now. It matters so much more.”

She smiled a little, squeezing his hand. “Sometimes I wonder if I’m cut out for all this. Being royalty.”

“I know it’s daunting. But I also know that you are the most capable woman in the whole world. I believe you were destined to do great things, darling. I’m just fortunate enough to be the man who gets to stand by your side and watch it happen.”

Belle laughed, stepping closer to him and reaching up to place her palm on his cheek. “You’re the sweetest man.”

“In the whole world?” he teased.

She smiled and, God, she was gorgeous when she smiled. “Absolutely.”

They leaned in for a chaste kiss to avoid any on-lookers. Adam prolonged the kiss further by pressing his lips to the back of her hand, caught in one perfect moment where all the guests and servants had faded away.

When he leaned up again, he met Belle’s enchanting brown eyes. “Are you ready, my darling?”

She nodded, almost too endeared to speak. Adam held his arm out and she hooked hers through, resting her hand on the crook of his arm as they set off for the ballroom, ready to face it all as they did everything: together.
