A Play of Vigorous Wisdom (PART THREE)

Interdarshan Championship Event x Reader (Genshin 3.6) Scaramouche/Wanderer x Reader

oh god, i'm so sorry this took like such a while to get out. i had so much going on and was extremely busy that I completely forgot i even had tumblr lol (and i will admit that procrastination played a part of this). I'm very sorry for keeping you guys waiting - genshin has already reached it's version 3.8 and the next will be fontaine while this whole event I'm writing about was back in version 3.6

ugh, i'm so dead...... but i did my best to finish this as possible!

PART ONE, PART TWO, PART THREE BONUS - Fighting For The Diadem (Cyno, Tighnari, Kaveh, Layla, Faruzan)

Today is still a rest day from the second round of the Interdarshan Championship. And, tomorrow will be the start of the third round of the competition. With the third round coming soon, all people around in the Akademiya Extravaganza were anticipating who could win this year.

You were one of the representatives of Vahumana along with your partner, Wanderer, but known as Hat Guy. Archons, the name of your boyfriend is just hilarious. You guys only participated in this event because of Nahida's request so both of you didn't have motivation or a motive to win this at all.

You didn't mind if you didn't win, you were extremely burnt out from participating other events and work from the Akademiya was already stressful enough.

But, as you were walking, you were kind of irritated that people around this time were talking about how you and Hat Guy weren't making an effort in participating the event.

"Vahumana literally has zero points…"

"What are they? Lazy?"

"Poor them. They are last place by this point."

If you weren't doing this because of Nahida's request and if you weren't tired right now, you would actually be ticked off, storm to them, and give them a piece of your mind. But you realize what they say is close enough as everyone already knows we aren't doing anything.

You just ignored what they were saying as you entered into the House of Daena.

The beautiful library stood out to the Akademiya as usual. The atmosphere of stepping into this wide-open place was enchanting, as everything felt peaceful and calming. Even though you've been heard more than once, it still became a comforting zone for you.

"Hey, (Name)!" A/N: I decided to change (y/n) into (name) because i realized typing out y/n is a hassle 💃(I'm doing this for all of my works now)

You turned to see your Vahumana friends calling out to you as they sat at a table filled with documents and books lying around them.

You have made friends with them ever since you enrolled in this darshan. They were just as chaotic as you and had similar interests to you. You guys always chat with one another at the House Of Daena and even during classes. Your friends love to share gossip with you because they all like to keep up with news about the Akademiya, either for curiosity or just drama. (If it wasn't for them, you wouldn't have known that your boyfriend was Hat Guy.)

You walked up to them. "Hey, guys."

"(Name)!" One of your friends, Arman, smiled at you. "I'm glad to see you again."

Your other friend Rahim was just doing some work, he did wave at you, but he seemed too busy.

Cyra, another friend of yours, smiled. "So, how's our little Vahumana representative going on?"

"Oh, I'm fine. Although, we are in last place." You answered.

Your friends didn't react or are mad at you at all. They all assumed you only became a participant because you were chosen by the majority recommendation. They knew how tiring it has been for you these past few days in the Akademiya. In reality, that was your cover-up which Nahida did for you.

Cyra hummed before widening. "Oh, yeah, Hat Guy was your partner, right? You finally got to meet him!"

You smiled as you nodded. "Yeah, I did."

Your relationship with Wanderer is private so nobody really knew you two were a thing, except for Nahida, The Traveler, and Paimon.

Rahim chimed in. "Yeah, Hat Guy is kind of cute…"

"Mhm. I will say he is beautiful." You chuckled.

"Right!? I immediately died the moment I saw him!" Cyra beamed. "Whoever ends up with him is so lucky…"

"Why do you guys like him?" Arman raised an eyebrow. "That guy always seems so grumpy like a little brat."

"He's hot!"

You giggled at the way they talk about your boyfriend. You don't blame them, honestly because it's true.

The next few moments between the four of you were just conversing about how everyone was doing recently, like how your friends were all complaining about how their lessons and research were getting more complicated by the day. You tell them a bit of your experience with the previous rounds of the championship.

Until Rahim said something interesting. "Hey, guys, I want to tell you something I found weird…"

"Hmm, what is it?" You turned to him.

Rahim muttered. "I heard that someone is planning to kidnap Sachin…"

Your eyes widened in confusion and shock. Arman had the same reaction. But Cyra just looked puzzled.

"Huh? Who's Sachin?" Cyra asked.

Arman rolled his eyes at her. "He's the one sponsoring the Interdarshan Championship. He's also the researcher who found the Diadem Of Knowledge."

"Oh, that guy…" Cyra mumbled.

You ignored her as you asked. "Where did you hear that from?"

"The night when the second round of the championship has finished, I heard Aarav, one of the Matras talking about how someone is planning to kidnap Sachin," Rahim said. "I saw him talking with the Traveler."

"The Traveler? You mean the infamous traveler all over Teyvat with their companion Paimon?" Arman asked.

You furrowed your eyebrows, taking into this new information you had just learned. You weren't that surprised if the Traveler themselves already knew something about the championship and Sachin, but it still did catch you off guard by how fast they knew more.

"Rahim, did you hear anything else in their conversations?"

He answered. "Well, I've heard that the people who are planning to kidnap Sachin were just a bunch of Eremites and the matra will take action into this immediately. Besides that, all they really talked about was what kind of a person Sachin is and how the Aarav gave the idea of the traveler to also investigate. That's all."

You hummed. "I see."

"(Name), I'd say you shouldn't worry and get yourself involve to this mess. Besides, if the Traveler is taking care of it, then I'm sure it will be handled any time soon." Cyra smiled.

"Yeah, you're right." You smiled back at her. "I won't."

I will.

...

You had just finished explaining to your boyfriend what you heard, but it seemed to make him be in deep thought for a while.

"Huh, I kind of figured that was the case..." Wanderer muttered. "I remember overhearing two girls talking about suspicious tourists at the cafe."

"So, these suspicious tourists are supposedly the ones planning to kidnap or kill Sachin..." You said.

"That seems to be the case, yes." He sighed. "Another pain to deal with."

You said. "Hmm, I say we should stop them before the third round tomorrow. Who knows if they will be striking or disrupting the Extravaganza..."

"I suppose." Then you see him smirk. "Besides, just beating up a bunch of scums would be extremely fun and bring me energy up for the third round."

"I say you save your remaining energy for tomorrow, Hat Guy."

"Seriously? I thought that you would forget about that name."

"Well, I did a bit but I think it suits you pretty well."

"Please no."

"Hat guy? More like Hot G-"

"Finish that sentence and I throw you out to the window again."

"OKAY! OKAY!"

...

"So, shall we go ahead and do it now?" You asked him.

He shook his head. "No, because if we do it now, they will still have more time to sabotage and execute their plan. It's better if we just do it tomorrow. Besides, I'm too tired for this shit."

"But the third round literally starts at 11:00 AM?" You exclaimed in disbelief in which your boyfriend just rolled his eyes

"Then, we'll just have to do it before that. It's not my fault your sleeping schedule is messed up."

"You sombrero bitch-"

...

The next morning - 11:05 AM

Every contestant is now at Mawtiwya Forest near the venue. Alhaitham and Nilou talked to each other or set things up while the contestants were wandering around the area or talking to each other until the grand sage's voice gained everyone's attention.

"Everyone, we are about to begin the third round." Alhaitham walked up front with Nilou beside him. "I will now explain this championship's third and final round."

"The diadem of knowledge is placed somewhere in Mawtiyama Forest. Your goal is to reach the diadem, bring it back, and place it on the stand. Because of our scoring system, the first person to do this will get four points and will likely be the winner of this year's championship."

"And I will say in advance that you are allowed to use your vision or any other strategy you wish to pull off," Nilou said. "It doesn't matter what you do, as long as you have the diadem."

You gasped as you thought. 'Combat? Meh, it's better than finding butterflies or Ley Lines. Although, I'm still tired from fighting them... I didn't get enough sleep!'

...

AN HOUR AGO

...

You and Wanderer were now outside of Sumeru City, inspecting the area around in sight of the kidnappers or any group that is treasure hoarders.

You were pretty drowsy as you had just woken up. "Ugh..."

"Quit whining and keep looking." Wanderer sighed. "I told you. You should've slept early."

"It wasn't my fault!"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah."

You both continue to walk, you were slumping a bit, clearly tired until Wanderer put an arm upfront to stop you. You were about to question him until you felt him pull you behind a tree.

You look past his shoulders to see treasure hoarders. They were talking very loud and in the midst of it, about Sachin. There also seem to be someone else that had a completely different attire than them. But from the looks of it, they were clearly working together.

"It's clearly them," Wanderer uttered.

"Yeah, no shit." You said

As if anybody would say anything else, another voice spoke up quietly behind you two. "Well, well, I didn't expect to see you two hear."

Your eyes widen, quickly turn around to find someone you didn't expect.

"Alhaitham!?" You said surprised as Wanderer looked at him, unbothered.

The latter crossed his arms. "I can tell we are both here for the same reason, for the group who are planning to kidnap Sachin. Why else would you both be out here?"

"So what? Are you going to snitch on us or punish us for trying to get to the bottom of this?" Wanderer inquired.

"No, actually. In fact, the two of you being here would make this a lot easier." Alhaitham smirk. "I want to question them, but they would obviously put up a fight. So, if you can defeat them, I can question them smoothly. I know you both were here to fight them anyways so that they won't disturb the third round, am I right?"

"...Yes." You sighed. "Fine."

"Seriously?" Wanderer deadpanned.

"Well, we're going to beat their asses either way."

The eremites' conversations are cut short when they see you and Wanderer walking up to them.

One of them stopped you. "You looking for trouble?"

You didn't respond as you threw your polearm near the treasure hoarder. They barely dodged it as Wanderer flew up with his vision and started to throw his anemo wind blades.

All of them screamed and protest but as you start using your anemo vision, both of you showed no mercy and didn't say anything to them as you continue to beat them all.

...

You sighed, remembering that moment. For some reason, you thought you see Alhaitham flash you a smirk. You shook your head as you try to focus because the third round is going to start, and you will be using a lot of energy today.

"You look already worn out and the round hasn't even started." Wanderer eyed you. "Archons, you don't listen to me when I tell you to sleep."

"I do what I want." You say, looking away, yawning a bit.

"Do you at least know what to do..?" He asked making you nod.

"Of course! We just have to get the diadem in place first!"

"Hey, if you can't do that much if you're that tired, don't force yourself, alright?" He whispers to you softly.

You look at him, knowing he's somewhat concerned. You reassuringly smiled at him. "It's okay, I'll be fine. I won't."

He nods, as now you both turn to the hosts.

"Alright, if all of these rules are clear..." Alhiatham said. "The round starts..... now."

Immediately, everyone took running off to Mawtiwya forest.

Third round begins.

...

You and Wanderer were faster than the others with the other contestants trying to catch up. Probably because both of your anemo abilities were more overpowered than anyone since he could fly and you have faster speed from your skills. It was quite surprising because you still felt tired.

"Go to the west, I'll head east," Wanderer commanded out for you as he flew away to the right. You rolled your eyes at his harsh tone but went ahead to the left side of the forest. As you ran to the direction, you see behind your shoulder Faruzan and Layla running to the same direction you are heading.

"Don't get ahead of yourself, junior. But I still wish you two the best of luck. And don't take what I do to heart after this round, I will try and do the same with you too~" Faruzan winked at you as she continue run up ahead and went into a different part of the forest.

After she went away, you turn to Layla next to you as you said. "May the best win, Layla."

"Oh, you too! Good luck!" Layla nervously said but you can hear how genuine she is with her encouragement to you.

You went ahead to different parts of the forest, still in no sight of the diadem. You also ran into the other contestants during the middle of it. It was a pain for you. It was just like exploring the areas when you first came to Sumeru. Although it was fun for you, it can be a bit irritating to not find anything you're looking for. You remember the pain of finding at least chests all by yourself in giant forests in all of the other nations you visited.

While doing so, you even saw Wanderer a few times. He was legit flying around like he was a fucking fairy or an insect. You gave him a deadpanned look every time and, he literally sticks out his iconic tongue expression on you all the time. God, he's been always doing that when you're busy and you sometimes feel like he does them even when you're not here.

The other contestants, they didn't really say that much to you when you ran into them. You and they were all focused intently on finding the diadem fast.

You were out of luck as you searched everywhere until...

Out of the corner of your eyes, you see Layla running holding the diadem. It seems she found it first

Your eyes widen as you immediately dash after her.

...

As Layla had successfully retrieved the diadem swiftly and quietly, she knew it wouldn't last very long but still did her best to keep a low profile and try and head to the venue as quick as possible. And now she sees in the corner of her eyes in surprise as you run after her, trying to keep up her pace. She was starting to pant heavily from running faster than usual.

But her blood ran cold as she stopped to see Faruzan ahead, blocking her path. Layla had to act fast because she knew you were still following and catching up to her, and now she had to deflect whatever Faruzan was planning.

As soon as the girl sees the astrology girl, Faruzan releases one of her mechanical devices infused with her anemo vision that immediately darts straight in Layla's direction. The moment it was about to hurt Layla in any way, she quickly summoned a cyro shield around her. The shield protected her as the device hit the shield and immediately went through different directions instead.

Seeing the machine take off, Layla attempts to run again, but Faruzan decides to block her path by running up to her completely. The two of them are completely unaware of the two Vahumana representatives after them.

Layla and Faruzan both stopped running as they felt a sudden swift wind blowing against the both of them, and both don't see the diadem anymore in Layla's arms. The latter looked confused and surprised, while the other girl knew as she looked behind her to see the two people behind her.

Hat Guy to them or known as Wanderer, flew with the diadem now in his hands while you were on the ground with your polearm in one of your hands. Wanderer threw the diadem at you, and you catch it. You both share a quick high-five as Wanderer flies fast next to you as you run beside him. Hat Guy smirks and chuckles at Layla and Faruzan.

Triggered, Faruzan quickly summons another one of her devices that sends off quickly that seems to be following after you. You quickly sense a gust of wind after you, which you knew was the device.

You use your polearm from your hand, infusing your weapon with your anemo vision before taking a brief turn of the crazy and fast device up ahead. As you run, you swing your polearm at the device, hitting it perfectly and knocking it backward.

After you knocked it, Wanderer used his anemo skills and sent an anemo wind blade to the device, knocking it even more powerful. It now sends it backward to Layla and Faruzan strong. Both girls barely managed to dodge it in time by moving out of the way of the broken device on the ground. Layla looked shocked, while Faruzan was more mad as she watched two of you fly and run away with the diadem.

...

After a brief moment of dealing with Layla and Faruzan, you groaned in frustration as you see in the corner of your eyes Tighnari aiming his bow and arrows at the two of you. Once Tighnari meets your stare, he immediately shoots multiple arrows from his charged attack.

You crawled and rolled to the ground as you avoided them. Wanderer, instead just flew fast straight past the arrows, unbothered by his iconic dark laugh. In the midst of it, you had time to admire and gaped at your boyfriend. Like your mind for a brief moment was just admiring him and boasting to yourself how he's your man. What can you say? You do love him.

Snapping out of your thoughts, you used your anemo vision with your weapon once again and swung the polearm that was aimed toward Wanderer. The polearm rolls around in the air until it is caught by the owner.

Cyno grabs it and dashes forward in front of you and Wanderer. He immediately passes by you and tries to send an attack on your boyfriend. Wanderer flew, dodging it and sending his wind blades, initiating the personal fight between them.

As you were about to step into the fight, Wanderer gave you a stern glare. You knew him well enough what he was trying to say, he is telling you to just go with the diadem and break eye contact as he dodged Cyno's strike. You quickly nodded and ran away from their fight with the diadem in your hands, keeping it secured.

Tighnari was up high in one of the mushrooms in the forest again. As soon as he sees you running, he aims and throws his Vijnana Stormheart from above at you. You barely notice it, but you avoid it quickly by performing an anemo lunge forward from your elemental skill before resuming to dashing away. In the process, it also destroyed the stormheart.

You see that Tighnari is planning on hitting you with his charged attacks again. The moment the arrows have been released, you performed multiple slashes with your anemo lunge. You also swing your polearm and destroyed some of his arrows.

Meanwhile, Wanderer and Cyno continue to fight each other. Both swing attacks and send them to each other while dodging and retaliating. The Wanderer only continues to fight, so that it will distract the general mahamatra so that he doesn't go after you.

But that seemed to fail immediately because Cyno noticed your figure running away with something shiny with you. He realize that your partner didn't have the diadem in him, so that would mean...

The moment he realized, Cyno pushed Wanderer away and quickly sprinted after you. Wanderer's eyes widen in shock before he quickly flew after him.

...

After dealing with Tighnari, you yelped as you rolled to the floor, dodging the incoming electro strike coming after you. You briefly glanced and knew it was Cyno who did it. After his failed strike, he immediately started to attack you again. You were left with no choice but to fight against him.

Wanderer, still flying, squinted his eyes a bit to see the fight happening. Cyno was simply swinging his polearm around to attack you while you deflected it by performing your own polearm attacks and using your anemo vision infused. Both of your polearms clashing against each other, some attacks where you used your anemo vision to send off anemo attacks that swirl around Cyno and your charged attack to give him a hard time. General mahamatra deflected your attacks with his polearm and did more of his electro strikes.

As Wanderer was about to fly over, he noticed and turned around to see Kaveh flying towards him, clutching a device from Faruzan that seemed out of control. The moment that Kaveh flies past him with the device, he uses his anemo-charged attack on him that sends Kaveh blasting away.

Kaveh was sent off flying in the direction of you and Cyno's fight. Immediately, Cyno noticed and leaped out of the path when Kaveh grew near Wanderer's blast. But you barely had time to react when Kaveh hit his body against yours, making you yelp as you were thrown off above. It was such a powerful impact because you lost grip of the diadem that was also knocked into the air. Your body was about to fall to the ground when a gust of wind flew past, and a pair of arms held you tightly from above. Wanderer holds you in his arms while still flying.

The diadem that was knocked into the air was about to land when Kaveh used Mehrak to grab hold of the diadem in the air as he continued to slide onto the floor. He threw the diadem that was still secured to his toolbox. The diadem rolled into the sky before lunging forward in Kaveh's direction.

Kaveh was thrown off even more into the path further because of the diadem of knowledge's impact on his chest. Kaveh flew again and crashed onto the ground with the diadem of knowledge in his hands. It was a perfect moment for him since Kaveh crashed in front of the third round's venue.

...

You watch Kaveh from a distance walking to the stand tiredly, about to put the diadem onto the stand.

A dark chuckle blew against your ear, making it tickle you. You deadpanned as you turned to Wanderer. He was still flying and holding you in his arms since he caught you.

"...Didn't I tell you to not force yourself? And look at that. Sleeping beauty in my arms~" Wanderer smirks making you glare at him.

You held your glare for a while before laughing. "Well, thank you, my beautiful knight." You both smile for a bit before turning to the scene where Kaveh is talking to the ghost-like figure of Sachin.

Everyone seems distracted by the scene so nobody really paid attention to the Vahuman students wherein one was holding the other.

Wanderer sighed. "...Well, we lost. Do you want to stay and listen?"

You immediately shook your head. "Nah, let's go." Your boyfriend smirked as he flew away with you in his arms. No one noticed, except two certain traveling companions.

...

After the whole fiasco of Sachin's speech and Kaveh breaking the diadem of knowledge and refusing to take upon Sachin's research, Kaveh is declared the winner of this year's Interdarshan Championship.

The two of you were now telling Lesser Lord Kusanali about your findings and your discoveries on the past few days of how the Interdarshan Championship went.

"...I see," Nahida muttered before smiling brightly at you and him. "You both did well. I am proud of you."

"...Well, what shall we do now, Kusanali?" You asked her. "...Is there anything you want to know about Sachin's research?"

"...Actually, yes. I would want to get his research, but I don't plan to use it. Anyways, I would like you both to accompany me." Nahida smiled.

...

Even after the Interdarshan Championship is coming to an end, The Traveler and Paimon decide to head to Aaru Village in hopes to find where Sachin supposedly left his research. The two both arrived and conversed with Alhaitham a bit about his research and his points of view on this matter.

After a while, Alhaitham went off, leaving the Traveler and Paimon. Both were confused as they were waiting for the ones who supposedly would answer their questions, according to Alhaitham.

The two of them were looking through the research left here before hearing multiple footsteps.

"Traveler, Paimon, you're already here." Both turn around to hear Nahida's soft voice speak.

"Nahida! and (Name)!... oh, and Hat Guy..." Paimon muttered as you and Hat Guy were walking beside Nahida. You waved at them as the Traveler also waved back. "Wait, so did you ask them to take part in the Championship?"

"Yes, it was me. Are you surprised?" Nahida raises an eyebrow. But the traveler shook their head and responded. "Actually, not really..."

"Did you know that there was something wrong with the diadem from the start? And if so, why didn't you switch it out for another one?" Paimon asked.

"Because Sachin's research is not mistaken. He spent his entire life researching this topic, and these materials are a result of that." Nahida stated. "These are the crystallization of his wisdom. Yes, I was worried that the material might cause some disruption, but I didn't want to wipe away all his hard work searching for the truth. So instead, I had (Name) and Hat Guy here to help me keep an eye on things."

"Seriously? I think you can stop calling me that now." Wanderer turns down Nahida.

"Why not? I think I like it. It suits you." You grin at him as he sighed. Nahida nodded and smiles too before turning to the others.

"...Well, anyway — if Sachin's chosen successor hadn't been able to handle his research, or if it had brought pain to more people, he would have intervened at a suitable moment."

Hat Guy spoke up beside you. "And after all that, the person Sachin chose, turned his nose up at his life's work. Pretty hilarious."

"I was also hoping that this could be an opportunity for you to learn how to interact with people normally... I even thought it would help you better if (Name) was by your side, but it looks like that didn't work out." Nahida sighed.

"That wasn't necessary. I'm still paying you back for your help, and the last thing I need is more reasons to be indebted to you." He tells Nahida.

"Don't worry, Kusanali. Hat Guy and I sure had a great time together in the championship." You smile at her in which she smiled back.

Paimon interrupted. "Nahida, what did you mean by "Sachin's research is not mistaken"? Does that mean that you approve of his research?"

She hummed in response. "Hmmm. Put it this way instead. Truth, to me, is like a Shroomboar."

(sorry, i'm skipping this because i don't want her speech to take most of this part already... still a good speech though nahida <3) Lesser Lord Kusanali proceeds to tell about her analysis and comparison of how a shroom boar is seen and how she tells how the world is the same.

"Ultimately, my duty as the God of Wisdom is to guide every form of wisdom to a place where it can find its purpose." Nahida finishes.

"That was a long speech," Wanderer muttered.

You nodded "Indeed, but it's a great perspective and I agree with some of her points with it. So, Kusanali, what do you plan to do with the research? Do you plan to keep it or not use it?"

Nahida nodded. "Yes. Because Kaveh, as the successor of this research, does not wish to see these ideas disseminated, I will seal it up."

"But even though Sachin's research could be considered "negative" wisdom, it is still a building block of the truth. If someone wishes to follow in his footsteps in the future, I will not stop them."

Nahida turns to Wanderer. "I also look forward to the day that a member of the Vahumana Darshan can not only comprehend his theories but also find a way out from the despair as well." You smirk knowing who she's referring to.

"Hmph, Vahumana doesn't have that kind of talent..." He trailed off before realizing. "Wait, you're not intending to keep me in Vahumana long-term, are you? Hah, I don't remember signing up to become a scholar. Don't you think I'm useful enough to you as a prisoner?"

Paimon sighed as the Traveler facepalmed. "Oh boy, here we go again..."

"Why not? Don't you want to work in Vahumana with me?" You smile at him.

"As if. I see you already procrastinating a lot and you don't even get enough sleep. It was already a pain to work with you, idiot." He said as you stare at him, offended.

"...We. Do. Not. Talk. About. That. Hat. Guy." You smile darkly at him.

Nahida spoke up. "Well, to that, I would say that in Sumeru, even prisoners have the right to an education. I hope that your studies in Vahumana will help you deal with your own fate, and learn how best to settle old debts from your past."

"By the way, (Name)," You turn to her. "I am really happy about how hard you worked for Vahumana. I've been getting a bit of intel and seeing how much your progress has grown. Even though your habits are bad, your hard work has paid off in your thesis and research."

You blush slightly as you smile at her. "Oh, thank you, Kusanali... I really appreciate it..."

She giggled as she turn to Hat Guy. "I will also review your final thesis myself. I am expecting great things from you, Mr. Hat Guy."

You laughed alongside Nahida at him.

Wanderer rolled his eyes. "...Tsk."

...

Which Islanders owe MC an apology? Pretty much all of them 😭

I mean, I'm very much influenced by playing Noah routes, but on that one pretty much all the girls (except Hope of course) owe her an apology for how badly they treat her. They rely on her, only to turn their backs on her the second MC could need some support. Honestly, even when not on a Noah route Lottie, Hope, Marisol and even Chelsea/Priya should probably apologise or at least acknowledge how much MC did for them all (and I've not even mentioned Shannon/Jo/Elisa here, who might want to apologise depending on how you played the game). I mean, barely any of them cared about MC when her partner switches after CA, and that just one thing that happened...

Of the boys, I think Bobby could do with an apologising to MC. He's a bit all over the place at times, be it as MC's friend or love interest (saving Hope over Priya anyone? That was not it). Of the other guys I think it'll very much depend on the route you played, but Noah should probably apologise if he ever made your MC feel confused and for never supporting her against Hope. Pretty much all of them should also apologise for not properly standing up for MC when Blake/Shannon was brought back to the Villa, especially Lurik/Noah or Rahim. Other than that I think it'd depend on the route you played, but MC really did carry that Villa on her back at times and the others should acknowledge that 🤍

Sex Education Season 4: Thoughts

So, with a little prompting, I am doing this write up. And bow howdy, I don't even know where to begin.

I guess, let's start with the obvious; Sex Education has a Too Many Characters problem. But we knew this- they've had this for many seasons. After Season 3, we said the same thing, with comments like "The Cal/Jackson plotline felt extranneous" because yeah, it did. Confoundingly, though, SE4 maintains a Too Many Characters problem while booting people we've consistently known. This isn't consistent with the past of Sex Education, where people have fluctuated in their roles between major and minor character (see Lily, Ola, Rahim, Adam, Ruby, etc); instead, characters like Lily Rahim and Ola just get completely ousted in favor of more new introductions- like... while I don't find the characters objectionable, I simply have no vested interest in the outcome of Abbi and Roman and O.

As I mentioned previously in another post, a lot of the core dynamics feel totally lost. I think there was something there in the plotline they wanted to explore with Otis and Eric; it's something I don't think I've ever seen portrayed in media, Eric telling Otis that they don't talk about important and obvious differences between them and how stifling that can be for Eric. But it's NOT explored. It's mentioned an episode before the end and resolved with no conclusion and a hug.

The entire first season revolves around the relationship between a mother and son. Other than that one scene where Otis gets his dig in on Jean, where is their relationship?

Even Maeve & Otis, which is the only consistent theme that persists, feels like a shell of itself. It's all sort of cookie-cutter relationship drama, it doesn't feel like it's in any way unique to the foundation and relationship Maeve and Otis have built way back in Season 1.

And I can't say it was all bad- there were things that hit. Aimee's relationship to art and trauma and moving on were great and I thought her relationship with Isaac was adorable. Cal's story was great. Adam and his father rekindling their relationship was wonderful too. But it was these very self-contained side stories that felt like they had pleasing resolutions. Never the main story.

And... what even was the main story? We hopped around so much. There was no throughline. The story of Season 1 is Otis and Maeve run a sex clinic. The story of Season 3 is the Moordale students need to take on the new headmaster's insane regulations. The story of Season 4 is nonexistent. The most coherent storyline I could find was the battle of the sex therapists, and even that felt like it was on the backburner half the time.

All in all, Season 4 felt like a weird, not-great rehashing of everything that had already happened. Maeve's storyline with her mother already had closure, she already said goodbye and realized her only real family left were her friends. And she does it again in Season 4. Adam's father realized the error of his ways and begins to try make amends... in Season 3. And he does it again in Season 4. Ruby, despite being rejected and heartbroken, helps Otis achieve his goals and they leave things on an ambiguous "we're not friends" note... in Season 3. And she does it again in Season 4. Maeve chooses herself and Otis must come to terms with letting go of his first love as she flies off to America... in Season 3. And she does it again in Season 4.

It's all a repeat. Other than a few of the side stories, it's thematic rehashing left and right. I think I wanted closure on the characters I knew and the relationships and instead I got a repeat of themes I had already seen. It was just a letdown.

#this isn't even me getting into detail #like say with adam (my favorite character) - he's completely disjointed from the plot #is his plot with his dad good? yes! but he doesn't get to interact with ANY of the main cast besides the funeral scene #it's SUCH a letdown #because the season functionally ends in the same place as s3 #im just going to consider that the finale #it was way better. it hit emotionally harder. sorry #mira muses #mira watches sex education

Love, Victor: Season 3 trailer 👀

Do not read ahead if you have not seen the trailer yet

-So they straight out gave us a major spoiler, without any warning, by telling us that Victor goes to Benji's house after the wedding debacle. Tbh this kinda annoyed me because I was looking forward to finding out about this major cliffhanger while actually watching the season opener but they chose to spoil it within the 1st ten seconds of the trailer 😵‍💫 Say what you want, but there were ways to edit the trailer without spilling that information, but production blatantly chose chaos.

-I was fully expecting the love triangle aspect, but now they want to throw at Victor a third love interest, when no one asked for this 👀 But if this is just a one time thing, than cool. Just don't drag it out and try to get us emotionally invested in this new character.

Also, are there no teen actors in Hollywood? Cuz this new guy is almost 30 year's old (IRL) playing a high schooler. I'm sure it can't be that hard to cast an actor who's in their teens.

I pray to all the TV gawds that before Victor & Benji fully break up, that they have real closure. That they have a good conversation and air things out. Because one of the biggest issues in this ship is their lack of open, honest communication. Hopefully they come to a sound understanding.

-As for Rahim, I'm assuming he's getting friendzoned and he seems to be going along with it. I wonder if this is a situation where Rahim is choosing be a friend rather than nothing at all to Victor 🤔 Let's see how this plays out moving forward, cuz it's clear that there are feelings there, probably more from Rahims end; so this might result in him getting his heart further broken.

-And it also looks like Victor is going to jump into the dating app world. So all you Vengi & Vahim shippers get ready for a messy season, cuz it looks like the writers are going to put y'all through it. And tbh if these ships become too unbelievably convoluted, I'd rather see Victor drop all the nonsense and choose himself at the end!

THIS right here is a scene I'm very much looking forward to seeing. I have a strong feeling Benji is going to over power the conversation and not really listen to what Rahim has to say. But tbh, they were never really friends 🤷

🗣 WRITERS I beg of you, please do not screw up the new ships. As much as I enjoyed most of Felix and Lakes relationship, I'm loving the direction you've taken with Felix x Pilar & Lake x Lucy. Don't fumble it!

As for Mia, I love her so much and I hope she has finds resolution with her parents. I want all the best for her. I'm so here for her and Andew being end game 🙌🏾

Head cannon relationship for Jake and Hope? I honestly would ship this

YEEEEEEESSSS I feel like I made this post before but if Jake was on Season 2* he and Hope would've fallen in love and gotten married and genuinely been the best Love Island couple ever.

(*I think if Hope was on Season 1 it would've been bad news. S1 was very openly contentious and I think it would've brought out her aggressiveness/she wouldn't have learned that she needed to seek anger management help and therapy. I don't think Jake would fall for her in the same way if at all if Hope was on S1 duking it out with Jen, Erikah, and Allegra)

But if Jake was in S2... Ugh they would be so cute. He has everything she likes about Noah- the strong masculine appearance, the quiet introspectiveness, the sweetness/domesticity- along with more of what she expects out a life partner- career ambition, good financial prospects, less of a family-oriented expectation for his future.

I still think Hope would've immediately gone for Noah, and honestly, that would be better because Jake clearly only feels secure in a relationship if he's had time to get to know the person and fall in love over time (i.e. MC or Rohan)

So here's my HC for their relationship in S2:

Hope still immediately goes for Noah/steals him. Maybe Jake steps forward for her, maybe he doesn't.

S2 proceeds mostly the same, I can see Priya vibing with Jake and stealing him, only to realize they don't have the 'spark' like she did with Rahim. I think Priya would still go after Noah even when coupled with Jake, because he's not overly touchy feely or romantic in the way she'd want. In Matchmaker's S1 remake, MC can couple with Jake early in the season but he's super distant/weird about it. Like he's overly platonic and awkward around MC. He'd be like that with Priya, and Priya would get frustrated because she's with this gorgeous man who doesn't seem to be interested in her. Plus she loves the chase, so she's still going to covet Noah.

The bad news is with Jake added to the villa, I kinda see Rahim going home early in the season. They have similar 'quiet, nerdy' personalities, and I think Jake would be a higher priority for the girls to save than Rahim. Poor Rahim, I love you anyways.

Jake loves having deep, intimate chats with people about important things in their lives. If he was up on that terrace with Hope after the hoodie fight instead of MC, it wouldn't have just been a 20 line conversation. They'd be up there for over an hour, with him asking insightful questions to get Hope to really open up about her commitment issues and insecurities with Noah.

I think that conversation is the first time they both secretly look at each other like 'oh'. Jake inwardly chastizes himself, saying he's trying to help her be happy in her couple, he shouldn't be coveting her while doing it. Hope feels a little flushed but tells herself 'he's just being a good friend'.

Unlike Noah, Jake doesn't have a problem with confrontation, especially when he gets to be righteous. In the wake of Operation Nope, I think he has stern words for both Priya and Noah. He chastizes Noah for stringing them both along, but then relents when Noah shoots back that he can't communicate how he feels if he doesn't know yet.

Jake is the only one to point out that the issue isn't Priya trying to kiss Noah (like everyone else is mad about), it's that she tried to hide it behind playing a game instead of just openly testing the waters. This exchange is what makes Priya go "I don't want to recouple with you, you can sleep on the day beds. Stay out of my face." This would be a great fic, because Priya is super childish when she feels attacked, and Jake wouldn't be able to reconcile what he thought was a friendship with how she's treating him now that she 'attacked' him.

So Jake sleeps on the daybeds until casa amor. Hope definitely comes out and they have a little ~chat~ prior to the disaster recoupling. Neither of them are openly like 'I think I might like you', but they talk about missing their lives outside of the villa and their childhood. Maybe Hope rests her head on his shoulder for a bit before going back inside.

I think Jake gets stuck with Lottie in the disaster recoupling, which he tries to hide his distaste for. He's been avoiding her to avoid being openly annoyed. Highkey I can totally see Jake and Shane talking shit about Lottie during Casa Amor, and maybe pissing off Gary in the process.

Hope comes back from CA and still has her Cinderella moment with Noah. Everyone sees it, including Jake, and he's gutted. CA is what made him realize he has feelings for Hope. That same day, he corners Hope when they're alone and confesses his feelings. She's flattered, and does have feelings for him, but is insistent that her and Noah are working on it.

"Maybe if you'd said something a couple days ago... But... I have to go with my gut."

"My gut is telling me that I care about you."

"Well mine is... Jake. I care about you too. But I care about my relationship with Noah too."

He accepts that, and says "It's not going to stop how I feel about you. But I get it. And I want you to be happy." Agreeing to respect their relationship, he withdraws a bit, feelings hurt.

He's gotta stay in the villa somehow for the narrative, not because he wants to, so maybe he has a flirtationship with Elisa where they briefly couple up. She's fun and uncomplicated.

But around this time Jake starts noticing Noah's very obvious looks in MC's direction. How Noah's openly pining for MC while beginning to neglect/ignore Hope. I don't think he gets a good admonishment in, but he definitely scoffs and walks away when Noah makes the baby dinosaur comment (ignore that that's too late in the season for where we are).

At some point, Jake has another conversation with Hope. He feels self-righteous, going to her and saying "I know you don't see it but this is how he's treating you-" and Hope pushes back like "I know how he's treating me. It's none of your business, you said you'd respect our relationship.

They get a little frustrated with each other, Hope because she's lowkey thinking about her and Noah's shot at winning, and Jake because he feels like she's letting Noah get away with too much.

This argument culminates in a kiss, like a real movie kiss with them grabbing each other and pressing close and deepening it. When they finally pull away, Hope kind of says "damn it." Jake asks if it was okay, and she says that it was, but now she can't pretend she doesn't want to do that again. They kiss more. Squee.

I'm thinking this is around day like day 23 or 24, a couple days before the final recoupling. Hope goes to Noah and says she doesn't want to recouple. He's blindsided, maybe they get into a little bit of an argument but already Hope's feeling more secure, so there's no yelling. Jake lets Elisa know and it's less of a surprise.

We get two days or so of Hope and Jake being genuinely couple-y and delighted with each other, sleeping on the day beds together, etc. I can't remember if there's a challenge during those days, but even when they're with their partners they're very playfully competitive with each other.

Their relationship is really refreshing to watch because Nope was a bit one-sided- with Hope always leading and Noah always acquiescing. Jake's interested and willing to start conversations, plan moments for them, and stick up for Hope in a way Noah didn't.

Jake and Hope at prom??!!! Jake and Hope at prom 🥺🥺🥺🥺 He asks production for a pocket square the same color as her dress, and his speech to her is just... So adoring. Hope is speechless and gets through hers but is just. So shocked how loving and tender this man is towards her.

For his part, Noah clearly has had his world turned upside down. He still really likes MC, but if she isn't interested in him then he's... Lost. He's frustrated with the situation, he's a bit spurned. If MC doesn't agree to sleep with him on day 29, I think he leaves the show early like Nicky did in S3

I think when they first got together Hope would be preoccupied about not winning, but after prom she doesn't even care anymore. Noah and her relationship always had competing with others as an element in the mix, but now that Jake and her have basically thrown that to the wind she doesn't even care anymore. She loves him.

Thinking of them after the show building a life together fucking SO SWEET AAAAA. Her facing the twitter storm with him by her side. Rewatching the show and realizing she hates the anger and aggression she showed and wanting to get help and Jake supporting her through it. Hope trying to cook meals for Jake because he cooks all day at work and she wants him to relax when he gets home but she just absolutely ruins the food.

Like after Hope gets her huge promotion, the first thing she's thinking of is 'omg now we have the extra cash to invest in Jake's restaurant'. Them location shopping and planning every detail, and Hope's just so excited for him.

Jake proposes to Hope first, but it's this really intimate, sincere moment, maybe in their bedroom or right away in the morning. Hope laughs and says "yes but no", and then clarifies that their engagement should be way more elegant than what he just did. She says she's going to propose to him better than that, he's shocked. What follows is like five months of them each planning elaborate proposals and romantic dates where they keep one-upping each other. Finally Jake says yes on a hot air balloon, but "ONLY because the sunset is just, otherworldly and it seems like a sign".

Them going to the reunion together and they're both just so at ease, no regrets. No hurt feelings, just this sense that everything worked out perfectly and needed to happen the way it did. They're glowing.

I have a lot of thoughts about the final season of Love Victor and that's because it was a mess! Victor being involved with someone different every other episode was totally jarring and unnecessary. Rahim being tossed aside as a love interest made a lot of season 2 pointless. Why build up a love triangle and then just drop it? Nick being the newest guy made it pretty obvious he wasn't going to be the one. Victor finishing the series with Benji was predictable and I said that I expected it would play out that way but it was the worst option honestly. Especially after season three and all of their off and on and off again the ferris wheel scene had very little impact for me because all I could think was they'll be broken up again in two days.

henrik. i feel like he would also capture parents’ and his sibling(s)’s reactions to post it. definitely a smaller pair of boots to climb and the caption reads the name of the future baby. you can also catch a comment of chelsea, hope and lucas, calling themselves uncle and aunties. gary. nan’s reaction first and foremost, ‘cause everyone that follows him is probably used to see her takes on things and love her so much, down to call her legendnan or something. it’s essential he records her reaction. next is dicky’s, then the boys, like bobby, rahim, noah, (probably on a video call). gary can be traditional in many ways, so i can definitely see him doing the whole "prank your family and friends to catch their reaction and posting everything on insta." despite of not being very touchy-feely in public. he would surprise everyone with the announcement because it would come across as melt as hell.

noah i feel like he tries to delay delivering the news in public as much as he can, and when they do it's something like "yeah, we're very happy, but we would like to keep it as private as possible. same goes for ibrahim and his very "not patient at all for social media reaction" self. nothing special on the social media platforms he might have a profile in. don't get me started on kassam. he wouldn't even do a public announcement of any shape or form.

marisol and priya wouldn't go for anything cute, if anything at all. elisa would do something but it wouldn't be cute and possibly would have the title "pregnancy announcement, *NOT CLICKBAIT*".

hannah. the most obnoxiously cute cottage core aesthetic setting you can think of. that's it, that's the whole concept. possibly a pair of little shoes on the grass, in the middle of the two mothers, with a few daisies coming out of the little shoes. it's so sweet i wanna punch her in the face.

the one person that would turn into a melt about it is lottie. something with a cute piece of clothing she *had* to buy and take several pictures until the perfect one is snapped, to then proceed and post it on every possible profile she has, whether her girl's, hers, her possible brand, etc.

okay so love victor s3 :

spoilers ahead!!!

i'm gonna be honest. i really didn't like this season. everything was full of cliches (i know the show was like this from the start but it was especially bad this season) and it seemed like the writers completely gave up. i feel bad bc this review will probably end up being very negative but it is what it is. i've seen mixed reactions from people but it's always interesting seeing someone enjoy something you didn't and see it from a different perspective.

so, i'm just going to briefly touch on the characters.

victor = oh boy. i get that he was confused but knowing that he was still hung up on benji..... like why didn't anyone advise him to be single for a little while. i guess that's a problem most people in that town have, lol. i hated how i barely remembered the new guy's (nick) name. i hated how they just used him for benji and victor drama. it was so obvious in the break up, too. like why was he smiling and flirting with the guy victor wanted to be a guru for (see i can't even remember his name!!!) 5 seconds later. he didn't even feel like a real person. anyway i couldn't care less about victor and benji, the same as before.

benji = i didn't see this coming but i did sort of, kinda like benji, a little bit this season... i liked that we found out more about him and his addiction. i also really liked him in scenes with rahim which just confirms my theory of rahim being the best character and making everyone better. honestly i thought the show would try to make them (benji and rahim) a thing for a second and i weirdly wasn't mad at it....

isabel and armando = ah my actual best friends! they were so so cute this season. i loved seeing isabel more confident in supporting victor even though i thought that setting him up with (checks notes) ahem nick, was a bad idea...but she is trying and she's pretty and i love her. armando<3 pls be my father. i loved the talk he had with pilar about their first daughter. it was very emotional. and i love that they are starting their own business. truly a highlight of the season!

mia and andrew = oof. i did like them overall but seeing andrew be willing to drop everything for one person made me sad. you can't think like that especially when you are that young. it's not a good message and the show acknowledges it, which is good. it's definitely a tricky situation and i get it.

felix = stanning felix weston is not just a hobby. it is a lifestyle. it is the smell of flowers and the sound of birds first thing in the morning... lol okay but fr now. he was really witty this season ("oh he's not a dick, he just wants dick..... thinking about victor? lake, i don't think you're his type", can't think of more but pls put some in the comments if you remember). what can i say? i love the guy. i just wish his relationship with victor wasn't kind of forgotten again :/ i also adore him and his mom! their relationship was everything. (i talk more about him and pilar in her section of the review).

pilar = my girl..... i loved pilar. i still kinda do but this was probably my biggest problem with the season. why. why did she break up with felix??? the reason did not make sense to me AT ALL. she said he chose her family over her?? just because he suggested to lay low for a while until things with her dad calm down? that's the right thing to do! it wasn't like he wanted to break up. and she completely freaked out. seeing her climb through his window and try to sleep with him out of pure insecurity about their relationship and feeling like she's losing him made me so sad.....she's a young teenage girl so i get it but like to not want be together even after some time passed and you thought about it more? it's like the writers couldn't think of a better reason and just did that. i was sad they didn't end up together but also their relationship was moving a bit quickly (saying i love you like 3, 4 episodes in?). they could've just have them be a cute no drama couple and let them say ily at the end of the season.......

lake and lucy = what a delight! their relationship was short but sweet. nothing really stood out for me about them except their break up scene which made me weirdly emotional?? i feel like the actresses reallllly did a good job, both of them. and i liked hearing a bit about lucy's life. i really related to wanting to run away from your town, lol. glad they didn't break up! the only thing i disliked was that weird ass kiss between lake and felix wth was that??? and they didn't even flinch, it was like it didn't happen. weird as hell.

rahim = ah! my other favorite character right next to felix. he found a bf. good for him! i do think it was weird the way him and victor got over their feelings for each other so quickly. but all of these characters do act like they've got amnesia every new scene they're in, so it makes sense, ig. his storyline with his mom and that homophobic relative (was it an uncle?) really touched me. the scene with his mom where he just said a simple "never again." as to let her know he does not want to hide who he is ever again was excellent! anthony keyvan is such a talent and i hope to see him in other things soon! wish the scene was longer, i almost teared up with him haha.

so to wrap things up, sadly i was annoyed with a lot of characters this season and i felt like the dynamic between some of them completely disappeared (mia and victor, felix and victor, victor's little brother was legit in like 2.5 scenes, i forgot he existed). i understand that the season and episodes are short but they just threw in a bunch of characters with honestly some pretty interesting and complicated issues and then just either left them hanging (like the guy victor and felix had the school project with who kissed victor?? where did that storyline go? or mia's mom?) or "solved" them with a corny speech/ friendship-is-magic-esque message. which is why the pilar and felix break up did not make sense. everyone was magically able to overcome every obstacle but they just broke up for such a dumb reason. i also hated the pop culture references. and yet again did not understand this huge love between victor and benji? this grand connection they shared. (was laughing at victor looking at that water fountain remembering when he first saw benji. i was like, really? you couldn't remember anything more special from your relationship? just him looking hot and walking? (i will say i understand why he remembered that - bc it is the first time he saw him, i get it, i just find their relationship very superficial and lacking substance). it would've been awesome for victor to end up single but oh well. it was a cute show overall (the 2 previous seasons at least) and i'm gonna miss some of the characters (mostly felix and rahim), but i will probably pretend this season doesn't exist bc it was a 2/10 for me :(

I read some tea on Love Victor S3 and… They should have made Vandrew a thing in S1 or 2 it would have made things wayyy more interesting

I don't know how much more interesting it would have been in the grand scheme of things. Especially given how Love, Simon did the whole closeted jock thing first, it would have (to me) felt like a repeat.

I'm not saying it wouldn't have been interesting by itself, given the chemistry between Michael and Mason, but I don't think it would have been revolutionary or anything like that.

At the end of the day, to me, I liked Benji and Victor, and I'm rooting for them, because I've already sunk so much time into this relationship. Though if it doesn't work out between Victor and Benji (or Victor and Rahim), I would like him to remain friends with at least one of them, because in too many shows like this, there are only a certain number of gay characters, and that's usually The Gay and then the love interests. It would be nice to see a show that focused on gay friendships instead of just the romance aspect.

That being said, if Victor ends the season single, I'll riot. I would love for a show to focus on a gay character without the main focus being their romantic life, but to end it like that after spending all that time fixated on their love life would be horrible.

so- i watched season 3 all in one go last night and here are (some of) my thoughts- the post got too long for my taste so i stopped. might do more later.

(as a note, i watched on hulu so that means i watched it with ad breaks which inevitably changes the experience to a certain extent versus disney+ viewers)

it felt like a lot of characters were absent a lot of the time during episodes and they’d show up and i’d be like oh yeah that’s right that’s still an open ended plotline... like the episodes weren’t super long and yet i still found myself losing track of things. that shouldn’t be happening in an eight episode season. maybe just too many characters to focus on, but idk.

as an example- for a show that sees benji and victor as the ultimate objective... benji felt like he was absent a lot- yes this is probably in part to show victor’s distance from him, and i think it works that way, but idk. it was like- when we got to actually see benji’s story it was great. george sear sells the character quite well though, so idk. his backstory hit hard, and it was a bit vindicating in the way it showed that no- benji really didn’t have it super easy with his family and coming out.

andrew is such a great character. i enjoyed his presence quite a bit, like he was a highlight for me, and his supporting mia like when she was having trouble with lake was sweet. but he’s also like- barely his own person at all though which makes it conflicting. i don’t remember if i felt this way watching like season 2 or anything, but in season 3 i just was like wow he’s not a person he’s just there to make dumb jokes and be a support to mia. like the basketball game thing was the only time this season he seemed to have any sort of personal thing going on, and he evidently didn’t care about this thing that was previously a huge part of his character- at all? idk. didn’t like that very much. i also don’t consider giving up something that’s been shown as very important to you for a high school relationship to be a positive or romantic decision. more on that later. idk. i like andrew- but i wish he was allowed to be a fully fledged human being. maybe this was a screen time issue, but still.

rahim being a love interest in the latter part? of season 2 and then immediately not being at all any sort of consideration in season 3 was a bit weird, but i appreciate that they let rahim voice his feelings and stand up for himself, and then had victor admit that yes, he did feel something, just not like what he felt for benji. rahim’s story this season was nice honestly, and his bond with benji and the tutoring stuff was incredible. i also liked his friendship with victor a lot when they were actually like- being friends. i enjoyed their bond quite a bit, and when they got into the fact that maybe victor doesn’t understand rahim’s experience quite like it appears he should... that was excellent. and the fact victor does finally get it was good to see. rahim stood up for himself a LOT this season, and when he says that he really can’t hide anymore, even for his uncle, i was so incredibly proud of him. and he found a great guy in the end of it all, and even though a vast majority of that happened off screen (which was a huge problem with this season in general), i was quite pleased for rahim. it’s what he deserves.

felix was another high point- his character has been one of my favorites since the beginning of the show, and his friendship with victor is truly one of the best dynamics on it. i absolutely love how they play off of each other, and how they support each other. i didn’t love a lot of the stuff with him and pilar, but beyond that, just talking about felix himself, his relationship with his mom this season with her getting better and him having a hard time with that was interesting. watching his pain over not being able to tell the family about being with pilar was rough... as was when he couldn’t tell his mom that they broke up and she had to find out from isabel. that said- i adore the way she handled it bc i feel like usually the parent would get mad their kid doesn’t trust them in that situation. she really went and supported him as much as she could bc she knows how much he’s worked to take care of / support her and now she’s finally able to give that back. felix is just a great character and between his comedic moments and how intense things are with his home life, he’s incredibly enjoyable.

i didn’t root for pilar and felix. they did not sell it to me very well and i didn’t buy what they were selling. that family is far more important to felix than pilar herself as a romantic interest will ever be, and to me that’s totally valid. (and it’s a pretty solid reason that they shouldn’t be together on her end of things too). i didn’t like that they set this up as a ship last season, but i came in trying to be open minded, and they didn’t have me very enthusiastic at all. they had a few nice moments but it was pretty much always tarnished with one thing or another. like- idk. if anyone wants me to elaborate on this i will i just- it didn’t work for me. i hated the scene where pilar tries to make him sleep with her especially. this show has done that in season 1, and now again. it was inappropriate the first time and it’s inappropriate this time. i had a lot of issues here- but yeah i just didn’t like it. i’m not going to be convinced by all the shippers to either haha.

lake and lucy- i wanted to love them. i really wanted to... but they felt incompatible a good amount of the time? also it was quite rushed, and that was a big contributing factor for me. i was impressed their wasn’t a jump straight into back to school so we didn’t have to get invested from that two second interaction in the season 2 finale- bc lbr that little moment would have felt so forced if we didn’t see anything on screen. i liked certain aspects, but i also just... i wasn’t invested. i was excited for the wlw rep, and we got that, but- it just wasn’t that well done either? also i’m sorry but the moment at the end when they told each other they loved each other did NOT feel earned at all so it was hard to get super excited over. like lucy giving up moving to portland, something she’s been working for for years, because being home is so painful for her, for lake- who she’s been seeing just a few months, is not romantic or positive as a decision. it made sense for them to break up- and i wasn’t rooting for them to get back together when they did, because lucy moving is what’s best for lucy. her not doing that would eventually lead to resentment (though we’ll never see it bc the show’s over), and it’s not like her living in lake’s mom’s extra place isn’t going to cause tension in its own sense... like what happens when they have a falling out?

the fact they seemed to drop lake’s body issues like a hot potato just because lucy calls her gorgeous and such made me so entirely frustrated. people telling you you’re attractive doesn’t fix it just like that. when she hopped out of bed clutching that pillow to herself i thought they were going to follow through on it and i was so pleased but they didn’t and it made me quite disappointed in the show. do we remember how long it took lake to sleep with felix? and how much they went through for her to be comfortable being exposed with him like that... and how much we saw him help her to get there... lucy is a whole new person, her opening up to being with felix that way doesn’t mean she’s automatically ready to do so with her next love interest without issue, particularly with how quickly in the season it happens. i thought it should’ve taken longer to get there, especially given lake’s issues with these things. it’s not a ‘felix fixed that for her’ thing at all, that’s literally impossible- it’s she got comfortable enough with felix to do that. them brushing over this was really not cool. if you’re going to give lake body image issues don’t only do it when it’s convenient.

lake dropping mia for lucy a good bit was also frustrating, even if they didn’t really show it at all on lake’s end and just had that be about mia’s storyline. they resolved it fairly quickly but- it still felt wrong that she entirely ditched mia despite having a whole plan already for the night, which she invited lucy to without asking initially. it didn’t feel truly resolved at all, the only thing that got resolved was the mia wanting lake to confide in her part, and the problem wasn’t just that- it was also the intruding on their plans and then getting ditched entirely.

i was shocked when nick completely came around at the end but why did i actually like them together when that happened? i can talk about this more but i need to stop making this post longer omgggg.
