▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁
you first noticed felix on your first day at university. the late summer sun lilting heavily against a cyan sky, sweat stuck to your skin, clothes clinging uncomfortably as you lugged your suitcase along, hugging quietly.
you wanted nothing more than to drop your bags to the floor, tug your t-shirt off and bathe in the golden glow. you loved the sunlight, the way it felt melting into your skin, warm and buttery. you were so lost in thought that you almost missed the person coming towards you, them letting out a harsh gasp when you almost bumped into them. you looked up, eyes clashing with a pair of ochre brown.
“oh… i’m so sorry,” you say offering an apologetic smile, only for the dark skinned boy to scoff. rolling his eyes and stepping around you, looking at you as though you were nothing more than a piece of gum at the bottom of his shoe.
“watch it,” he spat before storming off, you blanched. completely stunned at the reaction, tilting your head to follow him. watching as he walked over to a group of people, now laughing brightly as though he has never even spoken to you. but your eyes were quickly drawn from him to the boy beside him. he was tall, taller than most, with chestnut hair that fell around his face in waves and a cigarette perched between his lips. he chuckled at something and you felt your heart flutter.
he was without a doubt the most beautiful person you had ever seen.
almost as though feeling your gaze he looked up, eyes flicking to your frozen form, how you gazed at him, eyes glassy and lips parted, the grip you had on the suitcase at your side. shame crawled up your spine and instantly you were looking away. walking deeper into the campus before you had a moment to think about this anymore. about him. you though you heard the laughs behind you increase but you couldn’t be sure as you walked away, cheeks aflame.
you didn’t see felix again for a few weeks, you quickly adjusted to life away from your family, while you still spoke to them on a daily basis, homesickness had quickly settled, replaced by a warm feeling in your gut as you bonded with your housemates. making friends in them and your fellow course mates, you were so consumed by it all you were stunned when you saw felix again. you had forgotten just how good he looked.
he was perched in the library, long legs blocking the section you needed to reach, the other boy you had seen before, farleigh, was sat across from him, lips curling into a frown when he saw your figure appear beside them.
“what?” he all but hissed at you, your heart dropped into your stomach. while you loved your life here at oxford the divide between yourself and more privileged students was immediately clear. a hierarchy that you couldn’t fight and instead just had to find a way to live with. you blinked, a little unsure at how to proceed.
“sorry,” you say, voice softer than you wanted it do be, “i just need to grab a book from here,” you say gesturing at the bookshelf at felix’s feet. the boys head snapped to you, eyebrow piercing glinting in the dim lighting of the library.
“sorry, darling” the brunet drawled with a sweet smile, his legs dropped and you awkwardly shuffled forward, eyes scanning the shelf for the book you were looking for, sighing quietly when you saw it was on a shelf just above head level for you. you glance fell downwards, looking for a stool to grasp but instead coming up empty. you were about to give up and grab a random book rather than embarrass yourself further by grabbing a chair to balance on top off in front of the pair when you suddenly felt a body pressed behind you. heat radiated from his skin, he was so close you could feel every inch of him, goosebumps rose on your arms.
“what do you need?” he murmured, ducking down so that his lips were only inches away from your ear. his voice was so deep, you almost shuddered.
“a road to somewhere,” you told him, watching with unveiled fascination as he reached up, grasping the book for you. you could see the veins in his arms, how large his hands looked compared to the book. you turned to face him, he held the book out and you grasped it, hands brushing. “thanks,” you say, a little breathlessly. he grins, a beautiful heart wrenching smile.
“anytime, pretty girl,” he said, you couldn’t bring yourself to respond, smiling slightly before quickly walking away from the duo and back to your friends who all gazed at you awe struck.
“holy shit!” one of your flat mates gasped as you drew close.
“i know,” was all you could say, “i fucking know.”
the third time you saw felix you were already a bit tipsy, the vodka cranberry you had in your hand making everything a bit brighter. you grinned as you watched your friend flirt with a man at the bar, hand falling from his shoulder to his arm. you sent her a wink before wandering onto the dance floor looking for your other housemates when you bumped into someone, your drink splashed on your chest, slipping between your breasts.
“shit! sorry, darling,” you looked up, seeing felix stood there with wide eyes, his expression melting from horror to a smirk when he saw your face. “oh, hello again, pretty girl,”
“hi,” you said, voice slightly raised over the pounding bass of the club.
“what are you doing here? didn’t think this was your kind of scene,” he commented, he was looming over you, so tall you hardly reached his chest.
“what do you mean, i’m here all the time. but i have never seen you,” you pointed out, a small smirk twisting on your lips, he snickered. stunned at your comment as you took a sip of your drink.
“don’t come here a lot, farleigh hates the music,” he commented with a shrug, “but i might have to come here more,” he was closer now, so close you could smell the cigarette smoke that clung to his skin, the faint scent of vodka and expensive cologne dizzying.
“oh really?” you say, looking up at him with a sparkling smile, “why’s that?”
“well, with a girl like you here how can i resist?” felix questioned, “tell me, pretty girl, would you like that?” you shudder, the action making felix grin, leaning down so his lips brush were brushing against your ear. “tell me, ___”
“how do you know my name?” you ask him, a little breathless, hand reaching out to grasp his arm.
“i’ve been thinking about you since i saw you at the library, so i asked around and they all led me to you,” he said, arms falling down to your hips, grasping them tightly. you let out a little gasp, he was so big, his hands almost engulfing your hips, you felt his fingers slide into the waistband of your skirt.
“oh yea?” you say, and then he was leaning in, for a moment it was a mess of lips and teeth, your cup tumbling from your grasp as your wound your arms around his neck. it was awkward, the height difference straining, but you managed to find a rhythm. your body pressed to his, so close you should feel every inch and curve of his body. feel his strong arms encircling you, the heat of his body, of his mouth. you wanted to drown in it.
when his tongue slid along your bottom lip you parted your lips instantly, you could taste the weed on his mouth and the sweet tinge of smirnoff ice, one of his hands rose to your cheek, holding you tenderly while he kissed you like a man starved. you moaned into the kiss, tugging him closer, hands on his neck, slipping beneath the collar of his shirt. you could feel the firm plains of his shoulder, the thick muscles coiled from where they held you, you needed more. his lips strayed from yours, trailing down your throat, leaving hot open mouthed kisses along your heated flesh.
"fuck, felix," you whined, he chuckled against your neck before biting down harshly, a strangled cry fell from your lips, loud enough that a rosy flush rippled across your skin at the thought of other people noticing. instantly felix was soothing the wound, sucking at it gently, running his tongue along the stinging bite. "i need you," you said, hands coming to his face and twisting it so he was looking down at you. he was grinning widely, skin flushed and lips swollen, a sheen of sweat glistening against his skin making him look ethereal beneath the strobe lights.
"you need me, pretty girl?" he said, pressing a gentle kiss to your lips.
"please," you all but begged, and he was laughing again, it was such a beautiful sound it made your gut clench.
"how much?" he whispered in your ear, biting down on your ear lobe.
"so much, so fucking much. been needing you for so long, can't stop thinking about you," you knew how pathetic you sounded, whining for him like a bitch in heat, but you were throbbing for him, panties slick and chest burning, you needed his lips, his fingers, his cock. you needed every little thing he was willing to give you.
"you sound so pretty when you beg for me, darling, i might have to keep you," he said with a sultry smile, "come on, pretty girl," he's tugging you through the crowd before you can say another word, he leads you down past the bar, slipping through the club goers with ease before crowding you into the small corner you had seen multiple people tucked in before but you had never been placed here yourself.
instantly felix's lips were on yours again, his hands fell to your hips, running down your thighs before sweeping you up in one swift motion, you wrapped your legs around his waist, hands catching his shoulders as a startled cry fell from your lips. in this new position your skirt had rose up, your clothed cunt pressed against felix's stomach, you rolled your hips experimentally, moaning when you felt the friction of his abs against your pussy. "oh my god," you hissed, pulling away from his lips to bury your face in his neck, rolling your hips again.
"shit, i wanna fuck you so bad right now ___" felix said, "wanna feel that pretty pussy wrapped around my cock, i bet you are so fucking tight. are you wet for me, pretty girl? i bet you are soaking through your panties," he said.
"why don't you find out," you whispered, felix pressed you further against the wall, one hand staying secured around your waist, the other slipping down between your heated bodies, fingers teasing along the fabric of your panties.
"fuck, darling, you are fucking soaked," he whispered, "so wet just from kissing me, can't imagine how wet i can make you when i have you all spread out for me, gonna play with this pussy for hours," his fingers drifted to the edge of your panties, tugging them to the side, you shivered, you had never felt so exposed in such a public place, but you couldn't pull away. his forefinger gently traced along your slit, making you gasp.
"oh my god," you cried out.
"want more, darling? want me to finger this pretty pussy, make you cum all over my fingers?" he asked and you nodded frantically, eyes locking with his, his pretty brown eyes almost black as he faced you.
"yes, yes, please, felix, i need you inside me, please," you begged, hips twitching against him, trying to press his fingers inside of you but felix tutted.
"now, now, pretty girl, you take what i give you. keep acting like a little slut and i'll leave you here," he hissed, tears stung along your waterline as you frantically shook your head.
"no, i'll be good, i promise, please felix, i need you so bad," you practically sobbed, he smirked, now dragging two fingers along your cunt, gently at first before finally plunging his fingers inside of you, you moaned loudly, tears spilling down your cheeks, he pumped rhythmically, two fingers buried in your pussy, his thumb coming up to tease your clit. you couldn't stop the sounds pouring from your lips so felix quickly latched his lips to yours. the kiss was messy, you were caught between playing with his tongue and moaning at the stimulation.
he began to jerk his fingers quicker, pumping into you with such force that it had your toes curling, his thumb pressing against your clit sending delicious waves of pleasure along your spine.
"you're gonna make me cum," you whispered, pulling back from his lips just slightly.
"that's the plan, darling," he said, beginning to swirl his finger around your clit, the excitement of being in public, the feeling of felix against you, his fingers buried inside of you, you could feel the tension building inside of you. it was insane, his body crowding against you, his lips leaving hot wet marks along your jawline and neck, his fingers pumping so deep inside you it was making you squirm. you had never felt a rush to come so quickly in your life.
“fuck,” you gasped as felix twisted his fingers curling against your g spot, your body was on fire, a swell of heat rising from your gut and spilling across your entire body, you jerked, spasming as your orgasm consumed you. “felix,” you squealed as came all over his fingers, collapsing against him, heavy breaths falling for your lips.
“fucking gorgeous,” felix whispered against your neck before removing his fingers from your cunt and gently setting you down and tugging your dress into place, you looked up at him with glassy eyes.
“i want…” you leant forward hands clutching at the waistband of his jeans but felix shook his head.
“it’s okay, ___, i would never let a pretty girl get on her knees for me in a place like this,” he told you, planting a kiss on your forehead. you shivered, despite the orgasm you had just had you were still desperate for more, you wanted all of him.
“holy shit, there you are! i’ve been looking for you everywhere,” your friend suddenly shouted as she rushed to your side, you looked over at her stunned. “come on we gotta go, that guy was a creep i just wanna go to bed,” you nodded immediately not wanting your friend to be uncomfortable.
“yea, of course.” you said before turning back to face felix who grinned at you, leaning down to plant a dirty kiss on your lips.
“see you soon, pretty girl,” he said with a wink, you sent him a small smile before leaving the club with your friend, you really fucking hoped you would see him soon.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8
It was a usual Monday after the night Joel saved you from Josh. You woke up early and got ready to work and meet your students.
“Good morning, kids! How was your weekend?” You asked the students with a soft tone.
“I watched a movie with my dad last night!” A girl shouted.
“It was my birthday yesterday!” Another girl shouted.
They were active and you were always happy to listen to their stories. Their stories were always interesting to you. You loved how children were so pure and innocent.
“Oh really? Well, happy birthday to you! Why don’t we all sing happy birthday to Samantha?”
You invited the other students to sing the Happy Birthday song for Samantha. Each of the students followed your clap and sang the Happy Birthday song together. The day went and it was already time for the class to be dismissed.
“Okay everyone! Class is dismissed! Don’t forget to do your homework!”
Everyone was packing their bags hurriedly and you glanced at the door. The door had a rectangle transparent glass and you saw Joel. When he caught your eye, he quickly hid. You found him so cute and felt butterflies in your stomach. It felt like you were in your teenage years all over again. You shook your head and smiled. The kids were starting to leave one by one and you began to pack your stuff on the table.
“I saw you there Joel.” You teased Joel who was still hiding.
“Uhm.. Sorry.” He slowly walked inside the class and cleared his throat.
“You caught me.” He smiled shyly and put his hand on the nape of his neck.
“Are you stalking me now?” You joked.
“Absolutely not. I was just around and thought I’d stop by to see how you’re teaching the kids. Hope you didn’t teach them curse words.” He joked remembering his last joke at the bar that was cut off by Josh’s appearance.
“Of course not.” You scoffed and slightly hit his chest.
“Are you heading home now?” Joel put his hands on his waist.
“Yes, all the kids have gone home so I should go home now.”
“I’ll walk you home.” Joel gestured a movement from his hands as if he was asking you to follow him.
“Sure. Thank you.” You grabbed your purse and jacket.
Joel wasn’t actually around the area. He was not patrolling that day and couldn’t keep thinking about last night. He was worried that Josh might come to you and bother you again. After thinking about it for a few hours, he decided to visit you at school and walk you home. He thought that it was the least thing he could do to protect you. Without realizing it, he was starting to have feelings towards you.
“Do you want to come in and have dinner with me tonight? I can cook something for us.” You hoped Joel would say yes before you got in your house.
“Sure. Ellie is making friends now so she often stays out late.”
“Great. Come in.” You welcomed Joel.
You hung your jacket and Joel did the same.
“Please make yourself at home while I cook dinner.” You smiled at Joel.
Joel nodded and sat on the sofa in your living room. You walked to your kitchen, opened your fridge and took out some ingredients.
“Can I help you with somethin’?” Joel suddenly stood up and walked towards you.
“No, no. I’m good. Let me serve you dinner tonight.” Joel was your guest so you wanted to serve him.
“Okay.” Joel walked away and started to look around your house.
“You have a lot of books.” Joel stopped at your bookshelf.
“Oh, yes. I love to read. I’m a teacher.” You laughed.
“Right.” Joel chuckled.
After a few moments of banter while you were preparing dinner, you were finally done.
“Dinner’s ready.” You called for Joel.
He looked back from the sofa and hurried his way to the dining table.
“Smells good.” He sniffed.
You both started eating. You were nervous because you were scared Joel might not like your cooking. And your legs were shaking under the table.
“Hmm.. It’s delicious. Thank you.” Joel praised your food.
“Phew.. I was scared you didn’t like it.” You sighed.
“Are you kidding? This is the best meal I’ve ever had in the past 20 years.” He chuckled as he shoved another spoonful of your cooking.
“Thank you, Joel. You’re really sweet.” You were touched hearing his words.
The two of you had conversations as you finished your dinner.
“Let me wash the dishes. You cooked so I will wash the dishes.” Joel offered.
“Sure.” You gave your dishes to Joel.
You watched him from behind and got lost in your fantasy. You were imagining a life where you and Joel lived under the same roof as family. And you were the wife making dinner for your husband when he got off from work. He looked dashing from behind and his shoulder was broad. You imagined how it would feel kissing him. But you didn’t want to rush so you had to hold yourself. You hit your head and got back to reality.
“Done.” Joel wiped his hands with a towel.
“Thank you, Joel. For washing the dishes.”
“It’s nothin’. You cooked for me so it’s fair if I wash the dishes.” He shook his head.
You wondered how a man like him treated you so nice. You kept wondering why he didn’t come into your life sooner. Then you remembered why. You were half his age. But you didn’t care. As long as he made you happy, you didn’t care about anything.
You and Joel spent a few hours hanging out at your house then it was time for him to go home.
“I should probably head home.” Joel looked at you.
“Yeah, sure. Thank you for walking me home today.”
“Anytime. Thank you for the meal. It was delicious.” Joel thanked you.
You chuckled as you walked him to your door and grabbed his jacket.
“I’ll see you tomorrow?” Joel raised his eyebrows.
“Sure. See you tomorrow.” You waved your hand goodbye to Joel.
The next day, Joel came and picked you up from work. He walked you home and had dinner with you for the second day, third day, fourth day, and it went on and on. Except when it was his turn to go on patrol, he couldn’t walk you home. But he would always tell you in advance if he couldn’t walk you home.
Joel and you often hung out in the city as well. Since you got close with Joel, Josh had never shown up. He just stared at you from afar but he had never approached you. You even had less guys flirting with you. As time went by, people were starting to recognize your relationship with him. People were making rumors and talking about you and Joel. They were talking about how far your age gap was and how Joel didn’t deserve you. He was old and ruthless but you were young and kind. You didn’t care what anyone said. Joel had never hurt you, he was always respectful, he was definitely not like what other people said. As a matter of fact, Joel had never been kind to anyone but you.
Your feelings towards Joel have grown deeper and deeper. On the other side, you had no idea how Joel felt towards you. Did he like you or did he just see you as a kid who needed protection? But you didn’t want this to end so you kept your feelings hidden until it was 2 months since you and Joel spent time together. You couldn’t hold your feelings hidden any longer.
It was another usual dinner with Joel. You watched him as he was walking outside your front porch.
“Joel.” You stopped him before he walked his way home.
“Huh?” He raised his eyebrows and looked back.
“Can I ask you something?” You wiped your sweaty hands to your jeans.
“Sure. What is it?” He walked his way back to your porch where you were standing, resting his hands on the handrail.
“What are we, Joel? I mean - I - I like you, Joel.” You confessed your feelings to Joel and stepped closer to him.
Instead of telling you the way he felt about you, he took a step back.
“No.” His voice was really low, he shook his head and looked down.
Your eyes were getting blurry as tears welled up in your eyes.
“I’m sorry.” Joel quickly walked away from you.
“Joel.. Please..” You tried to stop him but you thought it was better to stay.
You were heartbroken. You went to your bedroom, covered your face with your pillow and cried all night.
On his way home, Joel was also heartbroken. He couldn’t see you cry like that, especially because of him. He regretted leaving you hanging like that. He wished he could hug you and comfort you. But he knew he shouldn’t. He had heard the rumors and he agreed to what people were saying. He regretted treating you nice if it would end up breaking your heart. He shouldn’t give you hope in the first place. Since then, Joel started avoiding you. He didn’t walk you home and didn’t have dinner with you. You and Joel ended just like that.
You hadn’t seen Joel since. Your days went so slow. Days felt weeks, weeks felt months, months felt years. It has been a month and you hated this feeling. You wanted closure so you decided to find Joel. You walked to his house and knocked on his door.
“Hi!” It was Ellie.
“Uhm.. Hi! Is Joel home?” You asked Ellie.
“Yeah! Joel! Someone’s here looking for you!” Ellie shouted and called Joel.
Joel made his way down stairs and his eyes widened when he saw you at his front door.
“We need to talk, please.” You begged Joel.
“Okay.” Joel gestured to Ellie to go, he closed the door and invited you to sit on the patio chairs at his front porch.
You sat with him but he didn’t say anything. So you started the conversation.
“Did I do something wrong, Joel?” You tried to find what was wrong to fix your relationship with him.
“No.” He replied coldly.
“It’s okay. Just tell me, Joel. Let me fix us.” You begged him.
“It’s not you. It’s me.” Joel wanted the best for you.
“You didn’t do anything wrong. What do you mean?” You were confused.
“I know you heard about the rumors. They were right. I don’t deserve you. I’m old. I’ve done bad things. I’ve killed people. And you’re young, beautiful…inside out, kind, perfect and everythin’. You deserve someone way better than me. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have started anythin’ with you. I realized I was crossin’ the line, that's why it’s better that I stopped before I hurt you more.” Joel put his elbow on his knees as he explained to you.
“That’s not right. I don’t care what people say, Joel. You treated me so nice. You’ve never hurt me. You protect me, Joel.” You shook your head in denial.
“Don’t you get it? I don’t deserve you.” Joel started to raise his voice.
“No, Joel. Please. Give me a chance. I can’t live without you. Please. Give us a chance.” You cried as you begged him.
Joel wanted to cry but he held it. He didn’t want to look weak. Instead he stood up and asked you to leave.
“I promise I won’t see you again.” Joel’s words made your heart even wretched.
“Joel, please..don’t..Can you at least give me a hug as a goodbye? Please?” You grabbed his wrist.
Joel wanted to hug you. He really did. But it would just make him change his mind. If he hugged you, he might not be able to let you go. So he let go of your hand and walked inside his house. You cried so loud and kneeled in front of his door. Hoping for Joel to come out and change his mind, but a few hours went by and he didn’t appear. You were getting hopeless so you decided to go home. You cried on your walk and you didn’t realize someone was following you. You grabbed your keys and went inside your house. Someone was holding your door before you closed it.
“Joel?” You hoped Joel was following you home.
“Nuh-uh baby. It’s me. Josh.” Josh smirked.
You gasped and started to shake.
“Wh-what are you do-doing?” Josh could hear you were scared.
“I told you that old man is no good, baby. You should have been with me in the first place. I wouldn’t make you cry. I’m way better than him. That old man knows it. He really doesn’t deserve you. But I deserve you.” It turned out that Josh had been stalking you and he was eavesdropping your conversation with Joel.
“No. Josh. Please get out of my house.” You tried to act like you were not scared but he could see you were shaking.
“I’m not going anywhere, baby. You’re mine now.” Josh claimed you as his because he knew Joel wouldn’t be there to protect you from him anymore.
“No, please go.” You walked backwards as he slowly walked towards you.
On the other side, Joel kept thinking about what he had said to you. He knew it was for the best but somehow he felt something weird in his heart. He guessed maybe he should have hugged you goodbye. He didn’t hear your cries anymore so he decided to walk to your house. He saw your door was left open and he heard a loud thud and your scream. Joel’s heart was beating faster as he rushed inside your house.
“Stay still!” Josh was on top of you, holding your hands, trying to take off your pants.
“Josh, stop it!” You tried to push Josh away but he was too heavy.
Joel’s eyes widened as he was shocked to see what was happening. He ran towards you, grabbed Josh from behind and threw him aside. Josh was hurting laying on the floor. Joel’s eyes locked on Josh and punched him over and over again. Josh’s face was full of blood and he was begging for Joel to stop.
“Don’t you ever touch her again! You lay a hand on her again, I’ll break your arm!” Joel lifted Josh by his collar and yelled at his face.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” Josh begged Joel for his life.
“Now get the fuck out of this house and never show your face again!” Joel pointed his finger towards the door as he raised his voice again.
Joel closed the door after Josh crawled his way out of your house. You were in shock, crying, hyperventilating, shaking, and holding your ripped shirt to cover yourself. You had never seen Joel like this before. He was scary when he was angry just like what other people in the town talked about.
“Hey, are you okay?” Joel’s voice was different from seconds ago.
He sounded very soft. He took off his jacket and put it on you.
“I got you, babygirl. I got you.” He looked at you with worried eyes. (TLOU ep 8 reference 😘)
He wiped your tears with his thumb and hugged you. His hands rubbed your back in circles until your breathing was normal again.
“Can you stand?” He asked you.
You nodded and guided him to your bedroom. He kept holding your arm, holding your weight as you walked. You opened your closet to get new clothes and changed into a new one. Joel faced the wall as you changed your clothes. He was always respectful to you. Not like the other guys you had met.
“Here.” You gave Joel his jacket back.
“Do you want me to stay?” He thought he would stay for the night to make sure you were safe.
“Will you?” You asked Joel with your puppy eyes as you sat on the bed.
“Of course, darlin’. I don’t want Josh to come here again and hurt you.” Joel walked to your bedroom door.
“Where are you going? I thought you’re staying.” You were confused.
“I am. I’m sleepin’ on the couch.”
You chuckled. Everytime he did or said something, you fell in love with him more.
“Joel, stay here.” You pat the empty space beside you on your bed.
“No. I shouldn’t.” He still kept his chivalry.
“Joel, please. I don’t think I can sleep if you’re not next to me. I feel safe when I’m with you. Please.” You begged Joel.
“Okay.” Joel shyly moved his way to your bed and laid beside you.
You moved closer to him, put your head on his chest, and rested your hands on his stomach. You could hear his heart beating faster and his body was stiff because of your movements. Joel took a deep breath and put his arms around you. He rubbed your back in circles.
“I’m sorry. I know I don’t deserve you. But can I get that chance for our relationship? Give me a chance to be better for you?” He rested his chin on your head.
“You should stop being insecure, Joel. You’re the best man I’ve ever met. All the guys who flirted with me.. They weren't like you. I know for a fact they only want to get in my pants. But you’re different. Am I right?” You caressed his chest.
“No. You’re wrong.” You were shocked by his joke and raised your head to face him.
“I’m joking. Relax.” He laughed.
“Don’t ever do that again.” You put your head back to his chest and hit his chest.
“Oh! You’re bleeding! We need to get your fist cleaned up!” You took his hands worriedly.
“Don’t worry, darlin’. I’ve been worse.” Joel chuckled and kissed your forehead.
“Okay, then.” You kissed his bleeding fist that saved you from Josh.
The two of you spent the night cuddling, talking and getting to know each other. Joel told you about his past, Sarah, and Ellie as you drift into your sleep.
To be continued...

Heartbreaks: LEVIATHAN
~Finished Levi! finally! Took me ages. So I hope you like it.~
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You started dating them but others had decided they should date demons of powerful lineage not a mere human.
Warnings: Hurt/no comfort
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DIAVOLO LUCIFER MAMMON ASMODEUS SATAN BELPHEGOR
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You grew up with two brothers. One of them was the sporty one and his sport of predilection was boxing. He would sometimes practice his moves on you, of course never hurting you, always with playful hits. The other one was the geeky one, playing video games and you always loved watching him play his games for hours on end. Sometimes, he would let you play but you were too young to actually finish the game and the games would be too scary for your young mind. Since your brothers had left home, you had found solace in video games, playing the same ones as your brother used to. You always told yourself growing up that the perfect partner would be playing video games so when you arrived in the Devildom and got to know the seven brothers, you noticed early the third one. He didn't really speak to you so you tried to ask his brothers about him. You didn't ask outright as not to sound too obvious but you learned that if he was always locked up in his room was because he played a lot of games. You missed playing as when you arrived in the Devildom, you, obviously, didn't bring any game console so you devised a plan to make friends with the Avatar of Envy.
It was hard as he would rarely get out of his room but everytime you saw him, you talked to him. It was sometimes only a greeting but you were persistent. One day, you finally were alone with him in the dining room so you took a deep breath and talked to him. "Hey Leviathan. So, I've heard you like video games?" He looked up at you, frowning, from his device. "Well, obviously." You giggled, embarrassed by how you decided to engage the conversation. "Yeah, I know it's kind of obvious." You cleared your throat. "I... I would like to ask you if I could play sometimes?" He snapped his head towards you, eyeing you suspiciously. "W-Why?" You blushed slightly under his intense stare. "I don't know if you'll believe me but I am a huge gamer and it's been a few weeks and I miss playing." You let out a huge sigh to accentuate your point. His eyes softened and he nodded. "I get it! I would go crazy to go even a day without playing or logging in in one of my games! Sure! You can come whenever you like!" You grinned happily and he smiled shyly at you. "We can go now if you want?" You nodded excessively and stood up. You heard him laugh for the first time and, to your ears, it was a wonderful sound.
You followed him to his room. You entered and stopped. You looked around in awe. The first thing that took your attention was the huge fish tank and you walked over it. His goldfish was swimming happily around and when you just touched the glass to say hello, it swam towards you and stared at you. After a few seconds, it bumped its nose against your finger through the glass. You giggled at the gesture and felt the demon coming up behind you. "Who's that little guy?" Leviathan chuckled "That's Henry." You hummed, "Henry? What an unusual name." You felt Levi froze and you turned around to see what was going on. "Y-You d-don't know Henry?" You shook your head. "you don't know The Tale of the Seven Lords?!" You shook your head again. He gasped and started to tell you all about it. "So yeah that's why I called him Henry." You laughed. "Alright then! I have to read them, then!" He went over to his bookshelf and pulled a book out and handed it to you. "There, I can lend you the first book." You took it and put it aside. "Thank you, can we play?" He walked over to his desk and installed everything so you two could play.
The following week, you played with him every night and slowly, the otaku started to show you his real personality. You actually loved how he was so passionate about his favourite characters and all the anime he was watching. You didn't know most of them as you never really had the opportunity to get into them but thanks to his passionate ramblings you wanted to start watching them so after that week of playing you decided you wanted to change things up a bit. Now, you had a routine where you had dinner with all the brothers, changed into some comfortable clothes and went knocking on his door. As usual, he asked for the password and you answered, rolling your eyes. You found it stupid but it made him happy, so you obliged, every night, but it was always a long answer! You entered quietly, you found him entranced in his game and you stood there, watching him. You heart skipped a beat when he turned around and he saw you staring at him. A small blush started to form on his cheeks and you thought it was cute. You smiled at him and walked over to his desk. You leaned against it and crossed your arms. "I don't want to play tonight." He had followed you with his eyes, crossing his room to him, his blush darkening the closer you got. When you said you didn't want to play, his eyes widened and he looked shocked. "What?! Why?" Your smile grew bigger. "I would like for you to show me your favourite anime!" He froze. His brain stopped functioning. You touched him lightly on his shoulder, worried about his reaction. He jumped at your touch and stood up. He turned his back to you. "You-you really want to watch my favourite anime with me? ME?!" You relaxed a bit and chuckled. "Yes, Levi! You made it sound so interesting I want to watch it... with you..." He finally turned back around and nodded while hiding his face behind one of his hands. He sat in front of his computer, silently and looked for the first episode of the first season. You took the chair that you had left there the first night you played with him. It was okay to sit on it while playing but to watch something it wasn't. You kept moving, trying to get comfortable but you really couldn't so you sat at the edge of the chair and put your elbows on your knees. Levi was watching you moving around and he saw how uncomfortable you were but he was trying to muster the courage to give you his chair. He finally stood up. "S-sit in my-my chair, I'll take this one." He pointed at the chair you were sitting in and you shook your head. "No, I'm fine, Levi." He stood taller, "I insist, you are a guest in my room." You finally stood up, impressed by his confidence and you smiled while looking up. "It's very nice of you." You kissed him on his cheek to thank him. He got flustered and red. "Hey! D-don't do that without warning!" You chuckled. "Alright, I won't do it again." He froze mid-air as he was sitting. "T-that's not what I said!" You turned your head around and quirked an eyebrow. "Really?" His eyes widened at the realisation of what has just been said. He blushed furiously and pressed play to start the video again. He slumped back against the chair, embarrassed and you cackled.
So for the following days, you binge-watched all the seasons of his favourite anime and every day you tried to fluster him. You tried to make it a challenge to yourself but the more you teased him, the more you started to have strong feelings for the demon. You didn't realise it until you were so close to him after one of your plans to get him flustered that if you had moved forward just for an inch, your lips would have touched and you were staring at his lips, your heart beating like crazy at the closeness. You had cleared your throat and regretfully pulled away as to not make yourself flustered as well. You had sat down in the chair he had bought especially for you and you had been quiet for the rest of the night. You spent the next day, distracted by your thoughts of last night and you were wondering what all you felt was. You barely listened while you were in your classes and it took you all day to figure it out. You had a crush on Leviathan. You felt relieved at the realisation but at the same time annoyed. You weren't expecting to find someone of your liking but apparently an otaku who had, seemingly, no interest in normies like you was. You laughed at yourself and your pathetic heart, falling for someone who will never like you back. That evening, you went to his room as usual but you kept to yourself. Leviathan kept glancing at you while you were watching the anime. You were oblivious about the turmoil that was happening inside the demon's head. You tried your best to not look at him and the few times he talked to you, you gave him one worded answers. After the third episode, he stopped the streaming and turned to look at you. It took him that long to finally ask you what was wrong. "Oh, nothing Levi. I... I am just thinking." Levi started fiddling with his fingers, anxious. "Is it about me? Did I do something wrong?" You sat up and grabbed, instinctively, his hand. "No! You didn't do anything wrong. If you did I wouldn't be here." but he barely listened to you. "Is it because I am a disgusting otaku? I know I-I am not interesting and I only talk about my fav characters but I thought you liked it?" He started rambling and putting himself down. You stood up and grabbed his head to lift it up. You kissed him so he would stop talking.
You sat back down. You were in disbelief. You couldn't believe your boldness but you didn't want to hear him putting himself down again and you had hoped a kiss from you would made him think. You understood how self-esteem worked and you understood how he felt as not long ago you felt the same. You waited for him to talk. You knew you had crossed a boundary by kissing him without permission. You didn't know if he actually liked you back and you felt bad about your action. "I am so so sorry Levi. I shouldn't have done that without asking you first. It's just that I couldn't bear listening to you deprecating yourself and you weren't listening to me and I just didn't know what else to do and I know it's not a good excuse for doing it and again I apologise and I don't want you to hate me and I like you a lot and..." He cut you off by kissing you back. You were shocked. You didn't think he had it in him! He pulled away as quickly as he kissed you, his face furiously red and you thought he was going to pass out if more of his blood went up to his face. You smiled at him, tilting your head to one side. "So you're not mad at me for kissing you?" His hand went up his face to hide his flushed face. "No, I-I actually liked it." You sighed in relief. "Good, I'm glad. I liked it too and actually I would like it if I could kiss you everyday and whenever I can?" He looked at you behind his hand, eyes widening. "As if we were a couple? Like that anime we were watching?" You laughed at the comparison. "Yes." He nodded enthusiastically and grabbed your hand. "I-it's just that I never.. I" You squeezed his hand. "I know Levi. We will figure things out together." He smiled bashfully at you. "O-Okay." You put your other hand on his. "You know nothing had to change from what we have been doing for the last couple of weeks. We can play and watch animes while eating snacks but I might sometimes want to snuggle next to you. I like physical touches but if you are not comfortable with it I won't be doing it." He nodded again. "I don't know if I like it but I am willing to try anything you want if that make you happy."
You started the relationship slowly, always making sure you communicated enough with the demon, always reassuring him, comforting him when he would make the first step. You didn't know how but rumours started going around RAD that you two were dating. You had never been out for a date together and you hadn't said anything to anyone yet. You actually didn't care but you were afraid Levi did. You didn't talk about it with Levi as your relationship was developing nicely and you didn't want to put pressure on him but unfortunately those rumours which had lasted for days got around to Lucifer and other powerful demons who didn't like humans but tolerated them as long as they weren't involved with demons, at least not more than friendship so they had asked for Lord Diavolo and Lucifer to verify that rumour. The Future Prince of the Devildom summoned the both of you to his castle. You arrived walking side by side with Levi, brushing your hands often as a comforting gesture to what was about to come.
We sat in the garden, Barbatos was serving us some tea. Diavolo was doing some small talk and after a few minutes, you got impatient. "Lord Diavolo? Why are we here?" He paused for a second and his usually cheerful face changed into a serious one. "Okay, I am going to be blunt. Are you two dating?" Levi and you both looked at each other and nodded. You looked at the future King and you saw sorrow on his face. "Why?" He looked around as if he was avoiding your gaze. "The house of the Lords got wind of you two dating and they are formally aginst it. Unfortunately, as you have made your relationship official to me, they had asked me to send Leviathan teaching our navy officers for 40 days on a boat as a punishment." You frowned. "Wait! What?" You looked at the two demons. "is that something they can force you to do?" Diavolo looked sad, "unfortunately, yes." You stood up. "That's ridiculous!" Levi stood up and put his hand on your arm. "I-it is but Lord Diavolo can't help it. The house of the Lords are still a powerful institution and going against their wishes could be devastating for Lord Diavolo's rule." You nodded, tears welling up in your eyes. You wrapped your arms around Levi's waist and started to sob. You calmed down after a few minutes. "When is he leaving?" Diavolo sighed. "Now actually. Lucifer should be arriving any minute with some luggage." You stared at him with wide eyes. "What?!" Lord Diavolo sighed again and leaned forward. "You won't be able to text or call each other. You can't date anymore." You looked at the Avatar of Envy and kissed him. You put all your emotion in this last kiss, hoping that he would get them. You pulled away and left without saying another word. You walked away from them, tears rolling down your cheeks.

Upside to the Down - chapter 4
(Chapter 6 on AO3)
Everything in the Harrington house is neat. In the living room is a modern looking granit fireplace, unused, with a glass door.
In front of it, two white, simple but pretentious slash expensive looking couches, on each side of a round glass table.
The floor is wooden and vernished, of the same color as the stairs, with a grey carpet on it. There are bookshelves behind the couches.
It is okay, Eddie guesses, for somebody who has a socially acceptable good taste in interior design.
And so, fucking impersonal.
There is nothing that reminds Eddie of Steve in it.
He peers curiously at the books on the bookshelf.

"Ah-ha," he says to himself, as he pulls out something that looks like a photo album. "Bingo."

He leans on the backrest of couch and flips through it. 8 year old Steve at a basketball game.

Steve kinda looks like his mom. They have the same brown hair and eyes, though Steve's are softer, in a way. The same haircut even.

9 year old Steve with a bucket on his head. Eddie snickers. "Hahaha. Cute."

The doorbell rings, and Eddie drops the book and ducks behind the sofa. "Jesus."

His heart is racing.

The doorbell rings again.

Eddie gets to the door, crouched down, as silently as he can. There is no peephole, so he presses his ear against the door.

"Did he run away?" "No way." You sure he's here? "Who is he?" "Eddie. A friend, El."

Eddie exhales a sigh of relief, and gets up fully.

Then he flings the door open.

Seven, little and not so little, known and unknown faces stare up at him.

Dustin's smile is wide, as he holds up a bag "We thought you might be bored so we brought you some stuff."

Eddie settles against the doorframe, so it doesn't show that he's still a bit unsteady on his feet.
"Speak Friend, and you may enter," he announces, opening the door wider but barring it with his arm.

Dustin answers "Melllll-lon" in a deep voice and Eddie lets him in with a high five. The others follow Dustin, pushing past Eddie and promptly dispersing in the living room.

"And take your shoes off!" Eddie yells after them.

"Whooaaaah."

"Dude, this house is awesome."

Lucas takes Max's crutches, and a very short-haired girl Eddie hasn't seen before helps Max onto the couch.

The others keep looking around, and chatter among themselves.

"How come Steve never invites us."

"I know right?"
Eddie gives them a moment. Then he claps his hands.  "Attention please!"
Immediately, everyone stops and turns to him.

"That's better. First things first," Eddie pauses "glad you doing... okay Red. I think you should pick up a guitar cause you," he points at her "are a fucking rockstar baby. And if you ever decide to play DnD, I'll give you a +6 bonus in courage, no questions asked. " And he bows down, as far as he can, anyway.

Sinclair looks at Max proudly, and with so much love Eddie almost wants to barf.

"Name's Max," she says. But she looks pleased.

"Sinclair, Henderson, Lady Applejack, Mike," Eddie lists, and twirls his hand from his head down to greet each one of them. They nod back in aknowledgement.
"Now. There are two of you... hobbits that I don't know."

"So this is, Eleven my girlfriend. The one with superpowers," Mike explains. "We call her El."

"Hello," El waves, a bit shyly, from the sofa next to Max.

"Digging the hair," Eddie gives her a thumbs up.

"And this is my... best friend Will. He loves DnD." Mike gesturing at the boy apparently named Will, who has never once stopped looking at Mike. Eddie's eyes cross back and forth between the two of them. He doesn't miss the whistful expression that crosses Will's features.

Uh oh. Poor boy.

"Heard a lot about you Mr. Munson," Will advances towards Eddie, offering his hand.

Polite. Eddie likes him already. He takes the hand and shakes it vigorously

"Great!" Eddie lets go, and turns back to the wider circle. "Now we're all acquainted. I would tell you to make yourself at home but– one it's not mine and two. Seems like you already are so–" he spreads his arms and exclaims "do what you want!"

They all cheer.

"Last one in the pool is a sore loser!" Erica says, and immediately runs past Eddie, almost throwing him out of balance.

Lucas, Mike and Will look at each other. Lucas looks to Max.

She gives him a reassuring smile."Just go. I can take care of myself. And there is El."
Lucas nods, an unspoken agreement passing between him and El, then they're off.
"I'm gonna watch a movie with Max Mr. Eddie, upstairs" El says, seriously, after a few seconds of whispering with Max.

"Whatever you want My Lady. But uh Red these stairs are one hell of— holy fucking shit," he exclaims, as El spreads her arms and Max starts to levitate, just slightly, as if a gentle force was holding her up.

"Told you,"  Dustin says from next to Eddie.

"Nothing. Nothing will surprise me in this life anymore I'm telling you." Eddie says, his eyes not leaving Max who is slowly floating up the stairs, Eleven behind her.

"Now Henderson," Eddie bends sideways to whisper confidentially to Dustin "where are my gifts."

"Right." Dustin walks into the living room space, up to the couch and sets the bag on the table. Eddie follows, curious. "They're not exactly gifts 'cause they're like, your stuff. But yeah."

"Well that kinda ruins it," Eddie says, but still sits down next to Dustin.

"So uh, there's have a walkie-talkie, you know, if we're not here and you're bored."

"My trusted companion." Eddie states, as Dustin passes it along, and he weighs it in his hand.

"...And if we don't answer" Eddie rummages through the bag, and pulls out... Something, that he waves in front of Eddie's face. "Ta dah! Some of your tapes."

Eddie almost rips them out of Dustin's hands. "Henderson you're a saint." And presses them against his face. "Oh my beloved."

Dustin lowers his eyes a little, eyes downcast. "I'm sorry about your guitar."

Eddie has been trying not to think too hard about it. He puts his hand on his heart. "It's okay" he sighs, dramatically. "We had a good run, her and I. Maybe we were just not meant to be. And she had a good ending yeah?"

"For sure. For sure she did." Dustin looks up and there are tears in his eyes. He sniffles.

Oh no. "Hey hey hey. You don't get to be more heartbroken than me, alright?"

"I'm sorry!"Tears start to run down Dustin's face. "Now that it's started I can't, stop iit—" and there it is, the kid's bawling.

"My brother in Christ" Eddie checks quickly — no one around — opens his arms, and draws him into a hug. "Cm'ere."  He pats Dustin's head, keeping him there.

Until the crying dies down.

"Thanks man," Dustin says. He shakes himself. "Blblblblvlb."

"You all right there?"

"Yup. All-righty. A-okay. Pheeew." Henderson exhales to steady himself. "Anyway, last thing," he turns back to the backpack, plunges his arm into it, and pulls out a considerably sized box. "your DnD stuff.

"Just in case you wanted to... Prepare the next campaign or something?" he says, not managing to hide the hopeful tone in his voice.

Eddie takes the box as if frozen. His fingers lightly trace the opening of the red metal Box, feeling where the lid connects to the box. The box pops open with a click, and Eddie sets the onto the couch.

There are all his books, his binders, his papers, his figurines, his set of dice. He sifts through the pages, transfixed.

"Eddie?"

"Henderson. Uhm," He sounds more vulnerable than he has ever been, with Dustin around anyway. "I love Hellfire with all of my heart, you know I do."

"Obviously," Dustin nods. Then opens his mouth as if to speak and closes it again. Eddie can see the gears turning. "I feel like there's a 'but' there."

"You lot... Have been through enough shit," Eddie states. "I mean. The name is kind of sullied now."

Dustin mulls it over.

"What about the lost sheep?" He says.

"What about them?"

"False conformity. That's what's killing the kiiiids"  Dustin mimics. Eddie snorts.

"You taught us that if liking a game made us freaks, then it was okay to be freaks. You made us feel like...  Like we belonged." Dustin asserts.  "Not to mention you are the best and most metal DM I have ever had the honor to campaign with."

Eddie doesn't know what to answer to that. He settles for "Obviously."

"Yeah. So let's not let them take that away from us." Dustin insists. "Though we could always change the name," he adds.

"And what do you suggest, Henderson the Great?"

"Hm." Dustin frowns, thinking hard. "Vecna's... middle finger?"

"That's terrible."

"Oh ooh how about 'Biter Bats."

"Right." Eddie shakes his head. "I've decided. Hellfire it was, Hellfire it shall remain."

"Yesssssah!" Henderson jumps on the couch and makes a victory fist.

"Better get to work on that campaign then,"Eddie says. Then after a beat,"wanna help?"

Dustin's jaw drops.

"For real?"

"Yeahp. Not gonna tell you what I'll be planning, exactly obviously but. I could teach you the basics and stuff. If you want." Eddie rubs his neck. Shit he's getting soft.

But it's hard to not be, with Henderson looking at him with such awe, eyes twinkling with excitement. It feels good to be admired sometimes.

"Is that even a question??"

"Okay then. Let's get to it."

__

"Ooh. Smells rancid in here." Erica comments when she trudges back in a few hours later, hair still dripping.

Eddie is laying with his stomach on the couch, propping himself up on his elbows. Dustin has papers sprawled all over the tables the opposite couch, the floor, one pencil behind his ear, and one in his hand, frantically writing down what Eddie is dictating.

"Have you been at it all afternoon?" Mike asks.

"Yeah." Dustin answers "We're working on this new monster?"
"It's called—" Eddie interjects, making a 'dramatic reveal' kind of hand movement "the Steve."
"Seriously?"
"Oh a Steve can be terrifying, lady Applejack."
"It sucks at close fist-fights, but give him a bat-shaped object—" Dustin reads from the paper he's holding. "—and the Steve becomes unstoppable. The Steve," he continues "is at its most powerful when it has to take care of someone. It then turns into its ultimate momma-Steve form."

Eddie nods along. "And voilà."
"Eeeh, seems about right." Lucas agrees.
"So," Mike asks Eddie. "you've experienced it too?"
"Oh yeah," Eddie agrees. "Terrifying. And kinda hot, if I'm honest?"
Mike, Lucas, and Erica simultaneously pull a face. "Ugh."
"What-ever," Erica says, and it sounds like 'I am already so done with this shit'. "Is there anything to eat in this house?"
Eddie rolls onto his back, grinning. "Kitchen is over here. Oh and get some popcorn for the ladies upstairs."
Lucas holds his thumbs up, following Erica.
Suddenly, a plastic bag crashes to the floor.
"What," Steve says, looking at the utter chaos that was once his living room "the fuck."

Paring: Five Hargreeves X Fem!Reader
Summary: Five meets his polar opposite in a library that he now spends most of his time in.
Sugary sweet.
Two words, and four syllables, the exact words Five Hargreeves would use to describe his loving girlfriend. She worked at a library in her free time. She was replacing and organizing books. She was so quiet he almost didn’t even realize she was there.
It was like she wanted to be invisible. Five wasn’t the best at talking with other people. He knew that much. But the way her earrings sparkled like the constellations on them and the way she moved gracefully was enough for him to try.
Upon getting closer, he noticed her earrings were the constellation of Aries. They were silver and fit beautifully with her face. He was nervous. He had never really thought a girl was pretty per se. Nevertheless, talk to one.
Five didn't have time for love. Noe that the apocalypse and doomsday were over, he did. Allison kept pestering him to leave the house and maybe meet a girl. Perhaps that was her way of pretending he was Claire since she still hadn’t received custody. It didn’t matter.
“ Hello. “ Five spoke hesitantly, and she looked up from the bookshelf, “ Hi, may I help you? “
God, her voice was like a Sirens melody. He almost believed she was charmspeaking him. Who was he kidding? Demigods didn’t exist. But if they did, she would be a straight descendent from Aphrodite.
Five shuffled, “ Um, no. I’m not really looking for anything in particular. I just- um, wanted to talk to you. “
“ Oh, okay. “ She replied, “ My names Y/n. “
“ Beautiful, unique. “ He complimented, “ My names Five. “
She smiled and put out her hand, “ Unique as well. “ Five took her hand and shook it gently.
“ So, Five. What brought you into the library today? “ Y/n questioned as she began restocking books again, “ Well, my sister kept bugging me to leave the house. “ Five chuckled as he began to hand her books.
“ Gotta love siblings. They’re always a pain. “ Y/n smiled, “ Yeah, they’re a pain, but I love them. “ He answered honestly.
“ How many siblings do you have? “ She asked, taking a book from his hand and placing it high on the shelf, “ Six adopted siblings. “
“ Wow, that’s a lot. “ Y/n commented, “ Indeed. “ Five replied.
That’s how it started. A couple of days a week, more like daily, Five would enter the library and help her stock the shelves. Sometimes he’d even help her take inventory. He learned that the library was her mother's and how her mother was rarely there, so she took over.
It amazed him. She was only sixteen and took over the responsibility of a library. He learned that she had no siblings and just lived with her mother. Life was simple with her. In the morning's, Five would bring coffee to her. In the afternoons, he’d bring lunch for her, and in the evenings, he’d get some form of sweet.
The sweets couldn’t compare to how sugary she was. Y/n was undeniably caring and always listened to Five’s worthless rants about everything. It seemed as if Allison’s plan worked too well because now Five was rarely home. He stayed at the library almost all day and only went home to sleep.
Granted, it was remarkable that Five left the house after being stuck there for years, but the siblings did miss their sarcastic and ill-tempered brother. Now Five didn’t accompany his siblings. He attended his friend.
Over the course of the next few months, Y/n would be lying if she wasn’t falling for her polar opposite. Based on all their conversations Five was the contrary of her. Not that it was a bad thing, but she was just shy. People would come in the library, and she would serve them, but she never talked much.
Since she had met Five, he started to take over that job. He began checking books in and out for people at the desk while Y/n stocked the shelves. Sometimes older adults would see Y/n on the ladder and Five handing her books to replace the frames, cooing at them.
Saying something along the lines of, “ To be young and in love. “
She shuddered at the thought of attention. Y/n hated eyes on her, and it made her uncomfortable. When those things occurred, Five would take her hand into his and squeeze it lightly. A comforting gesture to distract her from the apparent cooing adults that couldn’t seem to mind their own business.
Appreciative– she was for Five. He helped her through everything. She did the same for him. She was his escape from the horrid mansion that he seemed to dislike now strongly. It seemed strange but in the back of the library is where Y/n lived. She did have a space at her mother's house, but she preferred the library.
While she finished stocking books, knelt on the carpet to reach the lower shelves, Five flipped the open sign to closed. He turned off the computers, and by that time, she was sat on the main counter.
“ Hey, Five? “ Y/n called before he could walk out the door so she could lock up, “ Hmm? “
She jumped off the counter, “ Would you like to stay? “
“ I’d like nothing better. “ He smiled.
Y/n showed him to the back area of the library. A place he’d never even noticed before, and he had been in this bookstore for months now. In the back was a tiny little apartment. Kitchen, living space, a bedroom, and a bathroom. It was quaint, but it was comfortable.
“ It’s not much. We can always hang out near the main space in the library. “ Y/n’s voice was quiet as she turned the lights on, “ I think I have something in mind. “ Five replied.
“ Get some blankets, and I wanna show you something. Meet me near the couches in the central area. “ He announced as he walked away, “ Okay? “ Y/n responded questioningly.
Nevertheless, she did as she was told. She grabbed her softest blankets and made her way to the main area. Five was sat on one of the couches, and she dropped all the blankets beside him.
“ Okay. So I don’t know if you’ve seen this before, but I noticed it a month ago. I wanted to make it a surprise. “ Five informed as he walked towards the wall.
His hand reached up and pulled something down. It was a projector screen. She hadn’t noticed it. She didn’t even know that one was there. Five must’ve been wandering around or saw it while helping a customer. Walking a few feet away, he turned on the projector. Placing a movie in the computer, and it appeared on the screen.
Y/n was shocked, “ I’ve never seen this before. “
“ I didn’t think you had. Otherwise, we would’ve done this sooner. “ Five chuckled, “ Yeah. Come on! Let’s watch. “ She said smiling and motioned for him to sit beside her.
That was their first date. Five couldn’t remember exactly how it happened, but the next thing he knew was that she was his girlfriend. It was almost like a drunken memory. Except he wasn’t drunk. He was nervous, and that seemed to blear the memory a tad.
His girlfriend remembered it like it was yesterday. She could remember the pounding in her chest as she and Five looked out of a window at the stars. Y/n remembered him taking ahold of her hand to show her the Aries constellation just like her earrings.
The brunets left arm was around her waist, and his left held her hand, showing her where the constellation was in the sky. He gently kissed her cheek as he put her hand back down. But instead of letting go of it, he intertwined his hand with hers. Then he asked the question, to which she responded with a gentle yes.

Walking into your new dorm room, you weren’t sure what to expect. Sure, you’ve seen the pictures online, but there’s nothing like the slightly dusty window letting in a hazy ray of light shining down onto the slight dip in the middle of the mattress you now call your own. Your desk almost touched the corner of your twin-sized bed, and your new bookshelf barely has enough room to fit half of the books you brought, but this was your new life. It didn’t dawn on you just how different university would be until you arrived this morning, but here you were, unpacking all your clothes into the cramped closet in the corner. Luckily, you’re in the building where you had a single room. Privacy was something you were worried about, and the communal washrooms will be something to get used to, but either way, this was a new start, and no matter how nervous you are, you’re grateful for it.
High school wasn’t terrible, but it definitely wasn’t what you expected it to be. Going into it, you obviously knew that it would be nothing like how the movies depicted, but you were excited. How bad could those four years really be if you had your best friend right by your side? He was incredible. He understood you better than anybody else, would be able to tell how you were feeling without the exchange of words, but most of all, he was your person, and you were his.
There was no doubting that in all your years of friendship.
But alas, like all good things in life, they must come to an end.
The summer going into the twelfth grade, he was longer your best friend. The boy that would go to the farmers market with you and your mom every other Sunday was now lining up for the newest sneaker drop. The boy that would rather spend the night at home and binge-watch your shared comfort show for the seventh time is now out with the boys sneaking into shisha bars and doing donuts in the community centre parking lots with their new cars. You watched as he slowly forgot about you, getting caught up in his new friendships and obsessing over material items that he never cared about before. It’s not that you were upset he found new friends. It’s that the only time he would reach out was to randomly drop off something he had bought you in hopes it would make up for him blowing you off again.
They started small, simple sweaters he knew you would like, but the gifts became almost ridiculous as time passed. He would never let you return them either, so now you have designer shoes for imaginary banquets. Of course, you were always grateful, but you would trade all his gifts just to spend time with him again. His family has always been wealthy, they always went on lavish vacations and drove the nicest cars, but you never really cared about what he spends his money on or just how much his parents make. You cared that he saw you as a person he wanted to be with rather than just someone he could shove gifts towards to make up for the quality time he’d miss.
But now you’re here. You were arriving three hours before the suggested move-in time because you didn’t want to be rushed to unpack before orientation starts later. You’ve seen a few people walking around on your floor, but neither of your neighbours have arrived, and honestly, you don’t mind because that means you’re able to blast your music without worry. As The 1975 fills your room, you stand still for a second, really taking in where you are. You’re now attending one of the best schools in the country, living on your own with a floor of people you don’t know yet. It starts to sink in that you are starting anew. The people who end up in the rooms next to you might just end up being your lifelong friends. As the song comes to an end, you decide it’s time to try to make yourself look a little more presentable since it’s almost time for people to start rolling in.
...
It’s almost five in the afternoon, and everyone on your floor is meeting outside on the field for a quick introduction before group dinner. You’re sitting with your knees pressed to your chest as the girl next to you tries to make small talk. To be fair, she’s incredibly sweet, but you can’t focus on her because somewhere behind you, there is a voice you think you recognize. There’s no way he would be here. Sure, you have no idea what school he ended up choosing, but if he ended up here, he would’ve at least texted you. Right? Before you can confirm your suspicions, orientation starts, and your group leader is already talking with more energy than you can handle.
The group of guys settle down close by, and you can’t stop yourself from looking over, wondering if you’ll see the head of brown curls. Instead, you’re met with a bunch of frat boy looking wannabes that instantly make your eyes roll. To say you’re disappointed that you didn’t see him was so stupid. It’s been over a year, yet here you were, hoping to magically bump into him as if this was some cliche movie. If anything, it’s frustrating. It’s frustrating that even though he stopped caring for you, you still longed to see him, to hear him laugh at one of your cheesy jokes. It’s even more frustrating that this new start you’ve been looking forward to, makes you miss him even more.
There are only sixteen people on your floor, but introductions take a lifetime because someone didn’t come on time. When they finally do show up, you almost laugh at this whole situation because, of course, it was him. Of course, he was strutting down the courtyard in some brand new Gucci sneakers and the same Balenciaga sweater he had bought for you a few months ago. Of course, the annoying group of boys behind you gesture for him as he quickly apologizes to the group leaders. And, of course, when you make eye contact, he’s the one looking at you with a mixture of shock and annoyance.
Quickly rushing back to your room after the meeting, you decide you’re ordering in tonight so that you don’t have to see him for at least another day. This is all so fucked up. You wrack your brain trying to understand how probable this whole situation is because, frankly, it feels like a sick joke, and on top of it, he’s the one annoyed?
Naturally, you spend the rest of the night unpacking the rest of your things before ordering your comfort food to wash down all the feelings you’re experiencing. Putting on your favourite show, you begin your tenth rerun as you bury yourself in your blankets. Part of you feels so stupid for completely ignoring your initial dinner plans, but you knew with the mindset you had at the moment, there was no way you would have enjoyed yourself. It’s a bit silly you haven’t left your room since picking up your takeout, you don’t even know who lives beside you, but that’s a problem for tomorrow.
Slipping into your slides, you head towards the washroom with your little toiletry bag. You pass by the girl you were sitting with earlier, and she sends you a smile. After apologizing for disappearing all night she just laughs and assures you nothing happened. She even points out where her room is if you were up to hang out tomorrow during frosh activities.
Just this interaction makes you feel better, and you quietly hum along to the familiar tune coming from the shower stall.
He used to play this song all the time, claiming it spoke to him the first time he heard it. Since then, it became the song he would play anytime he’d come to pick you up, explaining how this song is special because the ending always reminded him of you. It didn’t matter how long it’s been since the two of you hung out. Every time you heard ‘Pluto Projector,’ it would always bring a smile to your face. You even tried to show the song to your ex-boyfriend, but he never paid attention to your suggestions. He always claimed that his music taste was better. Thankfully that relationship only lasted a couple of months, but still, the regret of not waiting for someone worthy lingers in your mind.
While applying your moisturizer, you hear the water shut, the person pausing the song right as the orchestra starts to come in. Worried about who you may run into, you quickly pack up your stuff. You hear the click of the lock, and as you turn around, you’re met with him, with his curly hair all damp and his obnoxious teal blue robe wrapped loosely around his waist.
Rushing past him, you briskly walk towards your room, but before you can close the door, his foot jams between the doorframe. He pushes his way in and quietly closes the door, only to be met with the unimpressed look on your face. He circles around your room, eyes searching for any trace of your past friendship before standing back at the door.
“What do you want, Matsukawa?” you ask impatiently. It’s bad enough you run into the one person you wanted to forget, but now he’s standing in your room with a matching frown.
Something indescribable flashes across his eyes, and you can visibly see his frown deepen at your question. Leaning against your door, his arms come up to rub over his face, peeking at you through his fingers before letting out a long sigh. “When did I become Matsukawa? I thought I was Issei.”
You can’t help the chuckle that escapes your lips, and you realize how childish your grudge might be, but he has changed, and the man standing in front of you isn’t the same man you once called your best friend. “When you changed, Matsukawa. Issei was my best friend, and YOU are not.”
His eyes filled with confusion as his eyebrows furrow, taking a step forward towards you. “I’m sorry? I tried to stay in touch with you. You’re the one that stopped talking to me, so I’d try to send you things instead. How was I the one who changed?”
You stand there, staring at him for a second before shaking your head. “I can’t do this right now; I want to have a good day tomorrow, so I need to go to sleep. Please, leave my room.”
His eyes soften a little, and you can see a faint glimpse of his infamous lazy smile, “We both know you’re not going to be sleeping anytime soon,” he stalks over and kicks his slides off before sitting at the end of your bed. “Let’s talk about this because, frankly, I’m tired of watching you decide if you hate me every time you see me.”
The nerve of this man. The fact that he invites himself into your room, declares his stay, and then sits on your bed without permission. You don’t even know if he’s wearing anything under that robe as his hair is literally dripping onto your comforter. Regardless of what the situation is, this action alone has you seething. Turning towards your desk chair, you harshly pull out the slightly imbalanced piece of wood and sit down, silently questioning why he isn’t the one on the chair.
He watches you stomp around, and he kinda chuckles at your little tantrum, missing how easy it was to rile you up. Your glare at him would be a little scary if he didn’t see the way your lips mumbled to yourself. It’s honestly a little cute to watch you all frustrated with him even though he saw one of the shoes he bought you in your closet. Sure, they look brand new, but the fact that you brought them here with you must mean something.
The year you two spent apart has been really stressful on Matsukawa. He thought that you’d be happy that he could give you everything you wanted. He knew he wasn’t spending as much time with you as he used to, but he thought the gifts he spent hours lining up for would make up for it.
When you stopped returning his calls and texts, he was crushed. Everyone could see how he felt about you, but then he watched you get close to another man. Within two weeks, you were dating him, and he was left watching from a distance. Neither of you ever confirmed your feelings for each other, but he could tell that man wasn’t making you happy. He didn’t understand your different facial expressions, he didn’t care about what you had to say, but all he could do was watch the girl he wanted from the sidelines.
Sure, as time went on, Matsukawa also started talking to other girls. None of them ever became his girlfriend, he didn’t think it was fair to get with someone when he was set on you, but he had his fair share of hookups. He has money, a shit ton of it, but he never let that get to his head. It wasn’t his fault that he gained popularity when he started to get into name brands and upgraded his car, but none of that ever changed who he was — at least not to the degree you had him pinned.
He watches you carefully, your leg bouncing impatiently as your eyes glare daggers in his direction. He runs his hand through his hair and lets out a sigh, “what did I do wrong? You didn’t even give me a chance to fix whatever I did (y/n).”
The lamp in the corner of your room shines a dim yellow hue onto his features. His brows are knitted in concern as he leans forwards on his knees, his robe showing off a deep v down his chest. You can feel yourself freeze up at his question, goosebumps covering your skin, while your eyes pour into his. “You changed Matsukawa. You stopped making an effort to be there. I’m not some girl you can just buy with all your money. I have never cared about how much you have or what you can afford -- you know that! It doesn’t matter what. I always split things with you because I never wanted you to feel like I was there for your money. But then suddenly, you just stop showing up. You wouldn’t even tell me you made other plans, and I would just open my door to find some package you dropped off.”
His eyes search your face before letting out a deep sigh. “I tried! You wouldn’t answer any of my calls, I know I stopped explaining myself, but can you blame me? Don’t you think I want to take you around and introduce you to all my friends? Don’t you think I miss going on late-night drives with you to 7-11? Every time I would drive past there, you’re all I thought about. You and your stupid obsession with cheese taquitos and Arizona tea. Did you even think about how I felt when you decided to act like I don’t exist?” He hastily stands up and paces around in the confined space of your dorm room. He never raises his voice, so hearing him talk at a slightly louder volume was enough to let you know he was dead serious. “You know, I never stopped talking highly about you because as selfish as it is, those boys have an important family. They have the connections you dream about (y/n), so even when you started to ignore me to go out with that fucking ex-boyfriend of yours, I never said anything.”
He looks at you with pleading eyes before going to sit back down, his elbows now resting against his thighs. “I know you don’t care about my money, but I didn’t know how else to tell you I was still thinking about you. I tried to get you things that you’d like, things that you’d wear. But no, I had to watch you put on a fake smile and laugh at that asshole’s jokes while you stubbornly ignored me to the point I thought you had me blocked.”
Looking up at you through his curls, his hooded eyes looked darker before. His lips curled into a forced smile as he let out a breathy chuckle, “he didn’t deserve you. But what do I know, right?”
You sat there quietly, taking in what he had just said. You didn’t realize how hurt he was. To be frank, up till now, you were so consumed by your feelings, and you failed to consider his own. His head is hanging between his hands, and the silence in your room right now is insufferable. He’s just explained himself, yet all you can do is scoff at yourself. While you were obsessing over the fact that Matsukawa wasn’t coming over to watch another rerun of your favourite show, he was out picking out different gifts he thought you’d like. You didn’t even open the last few because your own emotions so blinded you. Hearing him take a deep breath, he stands up and smiles sadly at you, “nice talk, (y/n). Thanks for listening.”
“I’m sorry, Issei.”
He lifts his head to meet your gaze, and you can visibly watch as his shoulders relax. It’s been too long since he’s heard you call him by his first name.
“I’m sorry too. I should’ve just gotten out of the car to talk to you.”
You look at him with a small smile. Walking towards your bed, you sit down and pat the spot beside you, pulling him in for a hug. His robe is probably the softest thing you’ve ever felt in your life, your fingers sinking into the fabric as you hold him close. His arms are immediately wrapping around you, and you both stay like that for a minute before you pull back, a faint blush blooming on your cheeks.
“No, you have nothing to apologize for. You tried reaching out to me, you tried explaining yourself, but I didn’t even give you a chance. I’m sorry. I can’t believe I was so caught up I didn’t even think about what you were feeling. The fact that you still wanted to introduce me to your friends, even after all the stuff I did to you….I’m so sorry, Issei.”
He gives you a playful smile and lightly nudges your shoulder with his, “yea, that was kinda unfair, but good thing we talked it out, huh?”
You flash him a sheepish smile, but your eyes glimmer with happiness, “yea, it’s good you barged into my room at two in the morning. Just like old times.”
His smile instantly grows at your playfulness, and he gives you a mock scoff. “I’m sorry, but if I remember correctly, you’d beg for me to stay over at two am cause you decided you wanted to watch a scary movie. Have you gotten better with horror movies this year, or are you still as jumpy as I remember?”
The tip of your ears growing warm while you mutter out a quick “shut up.”
His laughter makes your heart beat against your chest because you missed it so much. It’s been a while since you got to hear him laugh with you, and without even thinking, you go in for another hug.
His arms easily hold you close, and one of his massive hands reaches up to pet your hair. “Missed me, didn’t you?” he asks, and you can feel him smirking, so you just nod, your fingers playing with the damp, short curls at the base of his nape.
“Issei?” you ask with a little murmur against his neck.
“Hmmm?”
You smile to yourself and pull back a little, so you can see his face, “so other than hanging out with your friends and keeping up with my relationship, what else have you been doing?”
His face drops as he looks at you with a deadpan stare, the corners of his mouth twitching up in a smile as you giggle at his reaction. He pushes you back, so you end up falling onto your mattress, his long limbs effortlessly straddling your legs. Before you can think about the position you’re in, his fingers start to poke all-around your torso, causing you both to laugh as he starts to tickle you. “You think you’re funny, huh?” His hands go to tickle your worst spot as he starts to talk, but you can’t hear him over your own laughter. His fingers slow down, but you keep giggling when you’re met with his lazy smirk, “I’m trying to talk, you know. It’s rude you’re laughing when I’m trying to speak to you.”
He leans forwards and has both hands resting at the side of your head. Your faces now inches apart, the faint smell of sandalwood from his body wash now becoming more apparent. You stare into his brown eyes, and it almost feels as if everything stopped for a few seconds. The lamp in your room doesn’t do him justice as the shadows of his face wash over his features, but even then, his eyes stare back at you with a slight twinkle as you catch your breath.
Reaching up to wrap your arms around his neck and you tug him close, crashing his lips onto yours. The sweet hints from his beloved Burt’s bee’s lip balm make his lips even softer than you imagined. The kiss is short, but as you both pull away, he’s staring at you with a goofy smile.
“You don’t know how long I’ve wanted to do that, (y/n).”
“Me too, Issei,” you whisper back before his lips capture yours again, this time with more confidence. This kiss is much more passionate than the last, holding onto each other in hopes of deepening it. One of his hands travels down to grab your waist, his tongue sweeping across your bottom lip, asking for permission. Your lips part and your tongues swirl together effortlessly while your hands play with his hair, pulling him closer into your body.
His hand feels a little rougher than before against your bare skin because of how often he trains, running down the length of your leg. The light touch of his fingertips admires how smooth your skin is before they trail back up, stopping just before the edge of your pyjama shorts. Hooking your leg around his hip, he leans into your body even further and even nips at your bottom lip.
Matsukawa smirks and whispers against your lips, “did he ever kiss you like that?”
Slightly surprised at the question, you shake your head, answering honestly. “He never made me feel the way you do.”
You watch as his eyes dilate, flickering into a deep brown you’ve never seen on him. The hand that was previously on your leg is now cupping your cheek, stroking your face softly, while his own face blooms into a rare shade of pink. Still, his words are clear, “please...give me a chance? He never treated you right. Let me take care of you?”
Words can’t describe how his question made you feel. You spent years learning about Matsukawa, understanding him to the point where words weren’t necessary to see what was happening in his head. Not once did you think he reciprocated your feelings, let alone want to be with you. Yet, here you are, caged beneath his arms as his hopeful eyes pour into yours.
Turning your head slightly, you press a kiss onto his hand and smile. “Please?”
His face breaks into a smile. His cheeks are tinted rose as the corners of his mouth reach up to his eyes. Leaning down, he peppers kisses onto your face, the loose curls on his head tickling your cheeks as he giggles with you. The kisses trail down to your jaw, and he follows the natural curve of your jawline to your ear. “Is this okay?” he whispers softly, only continuing down this path when you give him a curt nod.
Your legs tighten around his waist when he begins to press open mouth kisses down your neck, gently nipping at the spots that make you let out shy little sounds. His tongue leaves kitten licks against your skin after he’s sucked on it, littering faint marks. Seeing you with light hickeys on the base of your neck and collarbones is completely self-indulgent for him. Thinking about waking up in the morning and seeing the marks he knows he gave you makes him inexplicably happy as he sucks particularly hard, causing you to wince.
Immediately he stops and turns to you, “I’m sorry, did I hurt you? D’you wanna stop?”
His concern for you is truly a breath of fresh air compared to what you had before. Shaking your head, you guide his hands to the edge of your sweater. “You bought this for me… it’s only fair I let you take it off.”
He studies your face for a second before his lips curl into a lazy smirk, quickly pulling the overpriced sweater off your body. He takes a sharp inhale when you reveal you aren’t wearing anything underneath as he’s met with your beautiful tits, nipples hard and pointed. “You let me in here knowing you weren’t wearing a bra? And here I thought you were a good girl.”
Noticing how your legs tighten around him, he smirks even wider. Leaning back down, his kisses trail down to your chest, and his lips feel soft and warm against your skin. His fingers take hold of your chin and force you to look down on him while his lips wrap around your nipple, the tip of his tongue flicking gently at the hardened bud. His hand palms against the fatty flesh of your other tit; his fingers are rolling your nipple before tugging on it experimentally.
Suddenly feeling shy, your arms come up to cover your face slightly just to have him lace his fingers with yours, pulling your arms away. “Don’t hide from me. Let me see how pretty you look. Let me hear how good I make you feel, okay?”
“I’ve never had someone play with my tits like this…”
He just stares at you, brows knitted as his smirk turns into a slight pout. “You’re with me now; that means every part of your body will be pleasured. I wanna hear and see all of you, okay?”
With a shy nod, you gently roll your hips against him, inviting more of his attention.
He kisses you once more, murmuring against your lips, “you’re so beautiful. Let me know if I’m going too fast, okay?”
His lips follow down your body once more, lightly biting your tit before using the flat part of his tongue to feel the valley between your chest. Matsukawa lets out a low moan as you arch upwards, pushing yourself closer to his touches. Letting go of your hands, he begins to massage the soft flesh of your tits and kiss down your stomach, the tip of his tongue trailing against the waistband of your shorts.
“Let me hear you ask for it; I don’t wanna do something you don’t want.”
“Isseiiii, please?” you whine out, the tip of your ears turning hot at the thought of asking for his tongue.
He smirks at you, looking up through his hooded eyes and tsks. “Be a good girl for me. Use your words.”
His words go straight to your pussy, and you can’t help the doe eyes look in your eyes when you whimper out, “please, Issei? Wanna feel your mouth on me.”
You watch as he takes in a sharp breath, the hunger in his eyes shining through despite the dim lighting in your room. He tugs at the end of your shorts until they’re completely off, repositioning himself lower until your legs are resting around his biceps. His eyes zone in on the way a sheer layer of slick coats your lips, happy that the attention he’s been giving you has pleased you. As he shimmies down on your bed, his legs now supporting himself on the floor, he nestles himself between your legs, easily spreading your things open with his arms. Sending you a knowing smile, he blows cool air directly onto your clit, loving how your walls flutter for him.
“You’re so sensitive, baby.”
“No one’s ever made me feel like this before...want more, please?”
You look down at him with pleading eyes, your hands cupping his face when you speak. Pressing a quick peck to your hand, he hips his head down and traces your pussy lips with his tongue, savouring how you taste.
The gasp that you let out once you felt his touch was adorable. It suddenly became the sound Matsukawa will chase after the more he gets to know your body and what it likes. He takes one long lap up your pussy, stopping just before your clit and using his fingers, he spreads your lips even more. Once your clit is all exposed, he flicks it gently with the tip of his tongue, looking up at you with all the confidence in the world. Hearing your little moans make him greedy for more, for more desperate and needy sounds, so he goes to press a kiss onto your bundle of nerves. Feeling you twitch beneath him, he gently places his lips around the sensitive bud and sucks earnestly, relishing in the way you buck your hips and call out his name. After a while of pure clitoral stimulation, he leans back up to watch your eyes blink back into focus on his face, a silly dazed smile on your face.
He winks at you and sticks his tongue into your drooling hole, swirling it around to feel the walls of your pussy clench around him. His fingers dig into the flesh of your thighs as he nuzzles his nose against your clit, his cock getting unbearably hard at the way you pant our pleas.
“I-issei! Please….need you inside, please!”
Coming back up for air, his hand leaves your thigh as his fingers start to tease around your hole, loving how your pussy clenches around nothing. So needy for his touches when he’s barely even started. He knows your orgasm was building, but he wants to take his time with you. You mean the world to him, and seeing you like this already makes him feel like the luckiest man at the moment.
Taking two of his fingers, he coats them in all your slick before slowly pushing them inside you. His eyes squeeze shut when he feels how tight you are, his mind immediately thinking about how you’d feel wrapped around his cock. When he’s finally inside, he pulls out slowly before sliding them back in, loving how you beg for more.
“Need more, please, Issei! Go faster, please.”
Your hands pull his head up to kiss you while his fingers begin to speed up. With the lewd sound of his hand slapping against your sopping wet pussy, his palm is applying pressure to your clit. Your moans are lost in your kisses, his other hand going back to playing with your sensitive nipple.
“I have to stretch you out, babygirl. I don’t want my cock to hurt you.”
All you’re able to do is nod as his fingers start to scissor your hole, stretching you out even more. His fingers, now knuckle deep, curl against your sweet spot, making you grip onto his hair as he swallows all your cries, suddenly remembering that the walls in this dorm probably aren’t that thick.
His fingers curl into you more, whispering sweet praises as his hand teases and tugs on your swollen nipple. Everything happened so quick, and you’re cumming all over his hand, your sweet sticky arousal covering his fingers as he slows down. Matsukawa is smiling down at you, “you did so well, baby. Bet that felt really good, huh?”
Maybe you’re needy or just horny, but even after your orgasm, you start tugging the tie that keeps his robe up. Your legs are sore, sorer than they’ve ever been, but all you can think about is how full you would feel with him inside of you. He smirks at you as he pops his fingers into his mouth, sucking off all your juices before letting his robe fall and chucking it to the ground. He’s wearing his briefs, but you can see how hard his cock is under the thin cotton material. Before you’re able to pull his underwear down, he stops you and lets out a small chuckle. “I’m sorry, I don’t have a condom. We don’t have to do anything.”
You giggle and shake your head, “don’t need one; we’re in university, baby. What’s a little fun without risks?”
He lets you pull his underwear down, and his massive throbbing cock instantly slaps against his stomach as he laughs at your reaction. “Had to make sure you were stretched out enough.”
You bite your lips and stare at how big his cock actually is. It’s hard to imagine how you’ll fit that inside of you, but you’re determined to give it a try.
“You ready, pretty girl?” he asks as he taps the tip of cock against your clit, loving how you squirm under him.
“mmhmm, Issei.”
He lets go of his cock and leans up, and pulls you into a deep kiss, completely in awe of you.
“Tell me if you wanna stop, kay?”
Replying with a small hum, he gathers up the remaining slick that’s leaking out of your pussy and strokes his cock slowly, also letting his spit drip down to help lubricate himself. He lines himself up with your pretty pussy and starts to push the head in, studying your face to make sure you’re doing alright. When he sees you smiling back at him, despite the grip you have on his arms, he pushes another two inches inside of you.
“You’re doing so good for me, baby. We’re almost halfway,” he whispers into your ear as he kisses your neck softly, sucking on the spot by the base of your lobe. “Such a good girl for me,” he coaxes as his cock slides another inch into your sweet cunt.
Incredibly, he’s only halfway down because you’ve never felt this full before. Still, your fingers dig into his arms when you ask for more. “Just want all of you in me, please?”
Hearing you ask for more even though you already looked fucked out sparks something inside him. He lets out a low growl and quickly pushes the rest of his length inside you, mumbling sweet nothings against your skin. He moans out with you when he feels how warm and tight you are, your pussy stretching more than it ever has to accommodate his size.
“Feel s’good, Issei.”
With a breathy chuckle, he peppers kisses all over your neck, loving the sound of your soft giggles as he pulls back three-quarters of the way, slowly pushing his way back into you. The gasp you let out is different than before, much more surprised but sensual.
He continues this motion a few more times before he picks up the pace, his hips slamming against you while your tits bounce. Each thrust knocks the air out of your chest cause he’s brushing against your spot every time. Matsukawa leans down and presses his forehead against the crook of your neck, muttering how good you feel.
“F-faster...need you faster, is’o good, please.”
Obliging to your pleas, he starts to rut his hips into yours, the sound of his balls slapping against your skin with each movement. He looks up to see your dreamy eyes and smiles. He knows there’s not a thought behind those eyes right now as his cock slams against your walls with each thrust. He goes to kiss you again, silencing your cries as your nails drag down his arms, trying to ground yourself in the midst of all the pleasure.
“You’re s-tight baby I- fuuuuuck, I can barely move.”
You can’t help it. Your walls are naturally squeezing him because he’s fucking straight into your sweet spot with each snap of his hips. You look at him with hazy eyes, entirely in a trance as you moan out his name. He can tell you want to cum, so his hand reaches down to rub your clit as his cock continues to pound into you.
“C’mon baby, cum all over my cock. You can do it...ah shit, yea, just like that.”
He’s been trying so hard not to cum but watching your back arch into him as your nails drab down his back, his name falling out from your lips in a loud erotic moan, is making it really hard. He looks down in surprise when he sees a creamy white rim around his cock, proud of himself for making you cream.
“Good girl...that’s my fuckin girl.”
Satisfied he made you finish, his head falls back onto your shoulder, his hips just rutting into you as he chases his own orgasm. Not even a minute later, he’s calling out for you as he quickly pulls out, cumming all over your tits. His chest heaves along with yours, his hair sticking to his forehead slightly as he empties his load all over your chest.
Once you’ve both calmed down a little bit, he smiles down at you and goes to stroke your cheek. “Had you creaming on my cock, was it fun? Did you have a good time?”
“S’good...thank you, baby,” you say before pulling him down for a kiss.
He gets up and reaches for his robe, “you did so good, took me like a champ heh. I’ll be back with a rag to clean you up, okay? Don’t move.”
As he leaves your room, you stare up at the ceiling and let out a laugh. Not even twelve hours ago, you were cursing the fact that he was here with you, and now you have his cum all over your tiddies as he goes to get stuff to clean you up.
You watch as he comes back into your room, fully changed with a rag in his hand. He kneels beside you and pets your hair as he starts to wipe his mess.
“Why’re you changed?”
“Oh! We’re going to 7-11 once I get you cleaned up.”
“.....it’s like three-thirty in the morning.”
“I’ll get you taquitos and Arizona,” he says as he goes to wipe around your pussy, mindful not to put too much pressure cause you’re still sensitive.
“And skittles?”
He snorts and kisses your shaking thigh, “yea, I’ll get you skittles, brat.”

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Loki had to do a full-on, dramatic as hell, double-take while walking through the TVA library. He had come down to look for a variant file but had apparently ended up finding something else. More specifically — someone else.
You. You. You.
You, his best friend. You, the sweet girl he had a never-ending crush on. You, the one who had just gone missing one day.
Loki could never forget. It was like something wouldn’t let him.
He had invited you around the palace for breakfast before you left his chambers for the night. You two had been up late reading together. You frequently popped over, usually claiming to stay for a few hours, just enough for Loki to read to you some verses of a poetry book, but those hours got longer and longer each time.
Next thing you two knew, it was nearly morning and you needed at least a few hours of sleep in your own bed. He had walked you out, asking you to come back for breakfast in a few hours. You happily agreed, giving him a quick hug before parting. Loki didn’t want to let go. He remembered that detail very well. He wanted to pull you back in his chambers, just hold you for hours. Days. Months. Forever. But he didn’t. He let you go, watching as you made your way back to your modest home. He never realized that would be the last time he saw you.
Well, actually, it technically wasn’t. Because he was staring at you right now. You were at a table near the back of the library, head buried in some files but he could still recognize you. Could always point out that lovely, long hair and those soft, gentle hands. You were always a stark contrast against him.
Loki just watched you for a few moments, completely and utterly confused by the situation. The shock was wearing off and now question after question filled his brain. How did you end up here? What had you done? Were you okay? A million thoughts came over him but his legs had their own agenda. The next thing he knew, he was approaching your table. He almost didn’t know how he got there.
He stood opposite of your sitting form. You weren’t noticing him, apparently very invested in the file you were studying. Loki had to admit, that was quite like you. You were always one to get lost in the words, way deeper than he did.
Eventually, Loki cleared his throat, hoping that’d do something. Slowly, you lifted your head, brows furrowed in confusion as you looked at him from head to toe. You didn’t recognize him, Loki could see it in your eyes. He was just a variant turned agent to you. Something in him felt like it was stabbing his heart over and over again.
"Can I help you with something?" You hesitantly asked but your voice was still so sweet and kind, just as Loki remembered. You were far more patient and soft-spoken than he was.
He said your name like it was the greatest plead but you didn’t react. Loki didn’t know what to do then, realizing you were you but you also…weren’t. His face fell.
You were getting uncomfortable. "I-I’m sorry, I’m not sure I know who that is—,"
"You don’t?" Loki couldn’t help the hurtful gasp he let out.
"Sir, I’m sorry…" Your eyes began searching around frantically. Something was going on. You were getting scared, way past uncomfortable. You wouldn’t look at him anymore.
Loki said your name again, much forceful than the last. You jumped. You weren’t directly responding but Loki could see something in your eyes. He said your name again. Then again. Like it was the only thing he knew. Your eyes met one another intensely, hypnotically.
After maybe the sixth time, you snapped. You jumped out of your seat, breathing heavily, scared, surprised. It had all happened too fast Loki was also taken back. You two were more than just staring at each other. Your wide eyes were taking him in.
"Loki?"
He felt so relieved to hear his name just float off your lips. It was as sweet as he remembered. Like a little lullaby. The stabbing in him stopped.
Loki nodded. "It’s me."
"What…" You looked around as if you had no idea where you were. And maybe you didn’t but Loki hadn’t expected your name to just snap you out of it. This opened a lot of questions for him but he didn’t have time. He raised his hand, cutting off your words.
Loki nodded towards one of the bookshelf aisles further away from everyone. You nodded in understanding, following him down the rows.
Once you were a safe distance away, Loki wasted no time collecting you in his arms, his head buried in your shoulder. You were surprised for a moment at the gesture but then you fell into it naturally, like you had just hugged him yesterday. And really that was how it had felt. But Loki knew better. You had been gone for so long…
"Loki," you mumbled his name, your head pressed into his chest. "What is going on?"
Loki stilled. "Why don’t you tell me what you know."
You scoffed, breaking off the hug. You were a sweet one but Loki was no stranger to your tiny temper. You put distance between you two and Loki allowed it despite how much it hurt.
"What I know?" You repeated, folding your arms. "What I know is that I’m standing in a library with you." You looked around at the space, noting an actual lack of real books. "What kind of library is this anyway? How did I—,"
"Do you remember anything before you got here?"
Your gaze dropped as you studied your shoes. They were some nice black flats but Loki knew that wasn’t your style. You were not the business causal type, usually pleased with the feeling of Asgardian silk gowns.
Something was coming to you as you let out a soft gasp. "I was walking home. We-We had just finished a poem written by that Midgardian… Gosh, what was his name? Winter or something—,"
"Frost," Loki mumbled. "His last name was Frost and you enjoyed his poem about how nothing gold can stay. You found it relatable. I’ll admit, you may have been onto something."
A light had gone on within you. "You thought it was pretentious." Your gaze met Loki’s once more. "I called you a fool and laughed. Then we saw daylight breaking and… and I had to go home. I missed my bed. You wanted breakfast in a few hours. I agreed to come back."
Loki nodded, encouragingly, but your words had fallen off. "What happened next?"
You shook your head, that blank expression washed over you again. "I don’t know."
Loki let out a sigh and leaned back on the shelf. "Do you remember anything after that?"
You looked back down at your outfit. At least the pencil skirt was nice. "Yes," you admitted. "I was hired here. I report on variants to protect the sacred timeline." It sounded to Loki like you were reading a script. What the hell was going on here?
"But you don’t know how you got from Asgard to…here?"
You sighed, a bit annoyed. "How did you get here?"
The snippy temper was back. You were still you. Loki could’ve kissed you, a feeling that had come over him before but was suddenly more intense than ever. He would, he promised himself. He couldn’t leave you again without doing so.
"I had a bit of an…incident."
"Really? You? I never would’ve guessed," you said, the sarcasm on your words dripped heavily. Loki gave quite the dramatic eye roll. You let out a little giggle.
"Yes, well, never mind what got me here, I am here," he said, motioning towards nothing. "And I am assisting with the hunt of a variant."
"You’re helping them?"
Loki scoffed. "Don’t act so surprised." A beat. "I didn’t have much of a choice."
You bit your lip, trying to hold back a smile but failed miserably. Loki had missed this. If he focused really hard, it almost felt like you two were back in Asgard, lounging around, talking about nothing. Teasing one another. His heart was aching.
"What do you know about the variant?" You eventually asked.
Loki glanced away. "It’s me."
"You?"
He shrugged. "Well, a version of me. Another variant."
You slowly crossed the aisle, coming to stand right next to Loki, your shoulders pressed against one another. Loki’s breath hitched just a bit. He would never get used to this.
You asked, "Well, what have ‘you’ done?"
Loki resorted back to his witty humor. "Nothing good as you could assume."
"This mischief of two Lokis is unthinkable."
Loki let out a laugh which you followed suit with. You two were laughing over nothing in this random library in wherever this place was. He could barely understand it and you were absolutely clueless. But the moment of laughter was good, was familiar. Too bad it couldn’t last.
"I’ve missed you," Loki admitted after the laughter had faded out unceremoniously. You looked a bit surprised at the confession.
"Truly?"
He nodded.
You blushed and looked down. "I’d say I missed you too but I don’t feel like we’ve been apart. How long has it been?"
When Loki wasn’t giving an answer, you forced yourself to turn back to him. He was staring at you quite intensely. You shivered under the gaze. It was an expression you hadn’t seen before, he hadn’t allowed you to see. It was one full of love and interest and adornment.
"Too long," was all he said before his lips were on yours. Loki finally took what he had been craving and it was happening in the TVA library. The fucking TVA. Loki’s head was still spinning with worries about this whole thing but, slowly, he got lost in you. In your lips and softness. Your hands grasped his shirt as you deepened the kiss — you. You wanted more from him. And he was happy to give.
His hands caressed your sides lovingly, feeling and holding you in the way he had always dreamed. It was better than anything he could’ve conjured. It felt right and real. Good and… Too good. Too powerful.
An alarm was going off somewhere now. You hadn’t seemed to notice it, still captivated in the kiss, but Loki was aware. He forced you two apart, reluctantly. You looked at him, ready to protest, but before you could ask anything, Loki was placing a hand over your mouth.
Footsteps were approaching. They were coming towards your aisle. Whatever had happened here wasn’t good, something had gone haywire. Had he broken the timeline? Was that even possible here? Loki didn’t know but what he did know was there was an army on the hunt for them. Without thinking twice, he grabbed your hand, looking for an escape route.
"Loki," you finally were able to speak, keeping your voice hushed as you two maneuvered the maze of shelves, "what did we do?"
"We love each other."
"Love?"
Loki stopped despite there being no time to stop. "Am I wrong?"
You didn’t answer. That was all he needed. Now to only get the hell out of here. Loki couldn’t tell if his encounter with the TVA had been a blessing or a cure as he held you close to him, refusing to lose you again to whatever trap this place planned to lay.

Brave Enough
Summary: Bucky wonders if he’ll ever be brave enough to admit his feelings to you
Words Count: 1980- ish (I got a little carried away- sorry!!)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x reader
Warnings: language, characters engaging of age drinking
A/N: gif is not my own, credit to original creator. Happy reading!!
Tumblr media
“Bucky, lighten up, man.” Steve griped, flicking through the menu. The brunette didn’t respond, just slumping down lower in his chair and sulking even more. A deep frown etched onto his features. “It’s just a couple hours.”
“Whatever.” He snipped. Bucky could feel his teeth grit together, his jaw aching from pressure. Sam’s foot connected with his under the table, a teasing tilt to his eyebrows.
“He’s just mad that he has to be here instead of lurking ‘round in the shadows back home.” Sam nudged his foot again. Bucky kicked out, but Sam was too quick. Pulling his foot away just in time. “You ever catch him at like three in the morning, just standing around in a dark hallway?”
“Shut up.” Bucky hissed, snatching a spoon from his place setting. The utensil flew across the table, smacking Sam in the chest before falling to his lap. “And I’m not mad I have to be here.”
He truly wasn’t upset he had to be there. He was upset that one person in particular wouldn’t be in attendance. YN was still off on a mission, unfortunately missing Wanda’s birthday dinner. Without her, Bucky would just spend the whole night sulking, no one else treated him the way she did. No one else was her. Without her, his night was already marked as uneventful and boring.
“You are.” Steve corrected, glancing to his watch. “The girls should be here by now. What’s holding them?”
Bucky glanced around the restaurant, eyes scanning over Tony who was animatedly speaking with the owner. Bruce, retuning from the restroom, Peter following him with a million questions. The older man seemed to age further as the teen pestered him- asking questions ranging from science to personal. The kid could be slightly invasive at times.
The door opened- the other half of their party. The birthday girl. Wanda made her way across the room, Natasha behind her and…
“YN.” Bucky felt a weight lift from his chest- possibly his reluctance to be at the table. He watched as she gave him a small smile and wave before Wanda pulled her off to the bathroom.
“Save me a seat!” YN called, meeting Bucky’s eyes. His eyes followed her all the way, until he could no longer see her. Then he was brought back into reality by a cough.
Fuck- he did that in public. His eyes fell to Steve and Sam, their faces schooled into expressions of taunting delight.
“You gonna save her a seat or what?” Steve asked, lips twitching as they begged to smile. Bucky flicked his wrist, giving his friend a very classy middle finger as they snickered in response.
But Bucky did as she said. He unfolded the napkin at the place mat on his right, showing someone was going to sit there. Then he tucked his hands into his lap, waiting anxiously for her return. Sam pursed his lips, leaning his elbows on the table. Bucky groaned, regretting his decision to stay out when Sam sat across from him.
“Won’t you just tell her you’re in love? It would be a lot easier.” He advised, fingers laced under his jaw. Bucky scowled, his foot finally catching Sam off guard, foot connecting with his shin bone. The man cursed, jerking his chair back.
The bathroom door opened, the trio of women hustling toward the table. Natasha was shoving YN playfully, the woman responding with a laugh. Then she turned her eyes to him and he stopped breathing. Stopped living. Oxygen leaving his lungs at an exponential rate when she smiled. Teeth flashing.
“Got a seat for me, Barnes?” She asked- the sound of her voice snapping his consciousness back into the present. Bucky stumbled over himself clumsily, shoving his own chair back to pull hers out for her. “Thank you.” He pushed her back in before taking his own.
“I thought you were still in Arizona?” He kept a constant tab in his brain to focus. There had been several occasions when the pair were carrying a conversation and he noticed, too late, he had just been staring into her eyes. He didn’t mean to- it just happened.
“Just landed. Sorry I didn’t tell you sooner I was back- Wanda begged me to come tonight so I had to rush to get dressed.” She explained, giving a half hearted gesture to her clothes. Bucky saw nothing wrong with them- she looked beautiful as always.
“No worries. You look beautiful anyways.” Bucky smiled. He could see in the corner of his eye- Sam and Steve sharing a look across the table. Bucky always experienced these mood swings around YN.
If he was distraught, she was there to soothe him. If he was annoyed or angry, just seeing her face would brighten his day. If he was happy, which wasn’t too often without her being a catalyst, she only intensified that feeling.
Bucky had met YN three months into his stay at the Tower. They shared a wall- his apartment was the one beside hers. He didn’t know she was his neighbor the night she came stumbling home from a mission- exhausted and dirty. Dried blood on her hairline and a red path dripping from her nose. She didn’t notice him that night as he sat in the quiet common area of floor 48. She brushed past him and dug into the fridge. He watched her shove six slices of cold pizza onto a plate and snatch three beers before disappearing into her apartment.
Needless to say, he was intrigued. But he never spoke to her. Not until two months later, in the middle of the night. She happened upon him sitting in the quiet, wide awake and writing in his journal. She commented that she also journaled- sprinting back to her bedroom to bring back a leather bound journal covered in stickers. She then offered him some of his own stickers, pressing them to the black journal in his hands.
Four months of midnight meetings passed and Bucky was infatuated. He found himself wanting to speak to her all the time- going out of his way to find her and talk. Thinking of her all the time, linking an activity with her. Asking himself ‘I wonder what YN would think of…’ Sitting with her at meals, hanging out when she was home. If he could, Bucky would have her attached to his hip at all times.
When they were together, Bucky would go to any lengths necessary to keep her there longer. To take more of her time. For once in his life, he wanted to be selfish. He wanted her complete and undivided attention. Most times, he received it. She happily gave into him, pouring affection onto the super soldier. And he swam in it- unabashedly. Unashamed to be so intoxicated around her.
“Hey, what are you ordering?” YN whispered, leaning toward his
Bucky snapped back, again, noticing that everyone had taken a seat and began to order their meals. Her eyes were trained on him expectantly. YN had seen him lose focus and attempted to reel him back in. He always seemed to fade away, she noticed. She didn’t know where his mind went when it happened but she was a pessimist- she assumed the worst.
“Me- ordering?” Bucky stuttered, his tongue barely catching up with his mind. He winced as she gave a soft smile- another snicker coming from across the table. He shot a glance over to Sam, the biting glare garnered a snarky reply.
“Smooth.” Sam muttered, propping his menu in front his face, shielding it from Bucky’s wrath.
“Sam.” Steve scolded lightly, voice low. Bucky bit back his embarrassment, clearing his throat before responding. It was gonna be a long night.
~~~~~~
YN giggled again, swaying as Bucky latched an arm around her waist. Keeping her upright. It was a struggle- she was very touchy when she was tipsy. Bucky’s heart did jumping jacks, unsure if he should revel in the affection or be disappointed she was doing it while drunk.
“Oh- Bucky, what if we took Four Loko’s and, and… White Claws!” Her fingers wiggled as she spoke, eyes watery and wide. Bucky chuckled, his body unaccustomed to the motions.
“No more alcohol for you tonight, alright? You’re already gonna hate me in the morning for letting you drink so much.” He tugged her waist gently, allowing his fingers to rest on her hip. YN rested her head against his chest as the elevator slowed to a stop on their floor.
“I could never hate you, you know that, right?” She asked, eyes gazing up at him. Bucky heaved a gentle sigh, meeting her eyes. A soft smile on his lips.
“Thank you, sweetheart.”
The pair slowly exited the elevator, YN trying her best to break away from his grip. Her attention span was that of a mouse- hands reaching for things in the hallways and in the common area. Finally, they reached the set of doors belonging to them. He released her very carefully to dig through his pockets. YN had given him her spare key months ago, he had it on his key ring. She had it printed in a bright blue- the loudest color on the ring when compared to the black key of his motorcycle and the silver key of his apartment.
He didn’t really need the color distinction. There were only three keys there but hers was the most important one. He had it memorized the day she gave it to him.
“Hey Friday, unlock Bucky’s main door.”
“What? She can do that?” Bucky whipped around, catching a fleeting glimpse of her wobbling, unsteady body as she stumbled into his apartment. “Fuck.”
Bucky abandoned his task in favor of the new, more important task. Getting YN out of his apartment. He followed her at a quick pace, hand outstretched to snatch her wrist but she made an abrupt turn down his hallway. Toward his bedroom.
“YN!” He hissed, reaching for her again. She shoved the door open and made her way into the room. “What are you doing?”
“I wanted to see your apartment- you never let me in here when we hang out.” She murmured, eyes locking in on the bookshelf in the corner. She made a beeline to it, fingers tracing over the spines of the books. She reached for a book on the second shelf. The second shelf was dedicated to his old journals.
“Okay, maybe…” he gingerly broke her grasp on the book before she could open it, sliding it back into place. Bucky rested his hands on her shoulders, steering her out of the room. “We can do a tour when you’re a little more sober.”
It wasn’t that he didn’t want her there- Bucky wanted to show her everything, give her everything. But some part of himself kept pushing it all back, keeping her in the light. He didn’t want her to see the bad parts, and there were plenty. He was terrified she wouldn’t want his broken pieces if she saw them.
YN hummed, breaking from his grasp again. He sighed in defeat, letting her go. She tossed her phone to the rug and flopped face first into the bed. A sigh of content rushed from her lips as she snuggled deeper into the blankets.
“Your bed is sooo comfy…” Her voice was muffled by the thick comforter. “This isn’t fair- my bed isn’t this comfy.”
No one’s slept in it since it was purchased- Bucky but back the comment, deciding it wasn’t a good topic to broach. Considering the circumstances. He stood, watching her for a moment. Allowing her to take control for the time being. The smile from earlier began to creep onto his face as she snuggled deeper into the sheets- fully clothed.
“Alright- enough of that, YN. Let’s get you home.” He murmured, tugging on her ankle. She didn’t budge. Bucky stopped, looking up to her face. She was sound asleep. “YN?”
Nothing.
Bucky sighed.
He reached for her ankle again, unclipping the heels from her feet, allowing them to fall to the floor. He swung her legs around, tugging the blankets down on the bed. Bucky pulled them back over her body, reaching into her hair to pull it out of the tight bun she had it in. The hair tie around his wrist as he tucked her in.
“Goodnight, YN.” He whispered softly. Bucky hesitated, lips close to her temple. He could hear a faint snore coming from her throat, dark lashes resting against her cheekbones.
He allowed himself to carefully lean forward, lips pressing to her temple gently. Then he backed away quietly, turning the lights off as he exited. He couldn’t help himself- stealing another glance at her sleeping figure before closing the door. He also couldn’t help the bittersweet smile that tugged at his lips.
One day… one day I’ll be brave enough for you.
Chapter Four - I will move on
"And I guess that's about it." You say as you finish telling Agatha about your last few weeks. She smiles as she shakes her head.
"I have to say I am proud of you." She comments gesturing briefly with her hands. "Are you sure you don't want to add anything else?"
You shrug, unable to remember anything relevant that you haven't mentioned.
You told her about writing again, about trying to drive again. About helping Wanda to stay home without having panic attacks, and to go back to work. You had only managed to drive in the supermarket parking lot, but it was still progress, and Stephen was very happy to hear it about too. The only thing missing to get your life back to normal was your apartment. And you had already arranged with Wanda to visit later that week.
"I have two questions for you then." Agatha says when you confirm that you have nothing to add. "Don't you think it's time to try to reconnect with your friends?"
You hesitate, thoughtfully.
"I don't know." You said slightly uncomfortable. "My friends weren't just mine. They were Nat's friends too. And then she died, and I isolated myself. And well, I guess they were in their own grief too, because none of them tried to look for me anymore."
"You took your time to heal." She says. "Maybe they took theirs too. And now might be the time to reconnect."
You sigh, looking away.
"Yeah, I'll think about it." You speak. You look back at Agatha a moment later. "What was the other question?"
Agatha hides a small smile.
"A sensitive topic for patients who lose their beloved lovers." She says and you frown in confusion. "Well, dear, I need to ask if you are trying to date again?"
You gasp in surprise, feeling your face heat up.
"W-what?"
Agatha lets out a giggle.
"I know this may seem insensitive at first, and that's more because of the sexist socioeconomic construct that treats widowed women as violated property that must belong to their lover for the rest of their lives than anything else but I need you to understand that it's perfectly natural to move on." She narrates and you just stand there with a shocked expression and your heart racing. "You are a single woman now, and you have sexual and emotional human needs. I'm going to help you work through any kind of guilt, because judging your progress, you seem ready to be in a relationship again."
"I...I don't..."
"Don't worry, honey." Agatha interrupts with a giggle. "I'm not telling you to go around fornicating." She jokes. "Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course. But I don't think it's really your style at all."
You feel your face heat up, frowning at Agatha, but she continues to speak.
"Anyway, I'm saying that it will be good if you get back into romantic relationships with other people. Casual encounters, that sort of thing. You are allowed to love someone again, there's nothing wrong with that." She explains getting up toward her own desk, and then gives a mischievous little smile in your direction. "Not to mention that orgasms are great stress relievers."
You choke in surprise, but Agatha just smiles, turning to write the appointment report.
Your face is still very red when you leave her office.
//-//
"I'm going to make a gardener out of you yet, huh?" Monica joked as you finished composting, making you laugh lightly.
"Well, I had a good teacher." You joked back as you stood up.
You were at Wanda's flower shop again. It became routine for you to help Monica with the garden and the flowers. And as the days went by, you got used to being in the greenhouses while she was attending to customers and Wanda was working in the office. It took two weeks for Monica to start joking that you had become a staff member at the flower shop. You don't really mind helping out. Botany has turned out to be something surprisingly relaxing for you. The hours of Wanda's shift passed by quickly when you keep your hands busy with the plants and flowers, your anxiety long forgotten.
"Are you hungry?" Monica asks as soon as you return to the store's front desk, and she pulls out the " break" sign tucked under the counter.
"Sure."
"Let's take a lunch break. See if Wanda wants to join us while I attend that boy." Monica says looking forward toward the window display. There is a boy clearly unsure about whether or not to enter the store and you exchange a chuckle with her before heading towards Wanda's office.
She is on the phone when she answers the door for you, and signals with her finger in her mouth for you not to say anything as she makes room for you to enter. As she mumbles in agreement on the call, you look around. She seems to be working on the organization of some big event judging by the whiteboard in the corner filled with notes, and you figure it's a party or some wedding, because you and Monica have been growing more flowers for this kind of thing lately.
"That sounds pretty good, actually." You listen to her speak as she jots down a few things in an agenda. " Don't worry, we have enough for the engagement party and the ceremony."
The shelf on the side in front of the whiteboard catches your attention, and you walk over to the furniture next.
Wanda moves a little behind you, adding some stickers to the whiteboard. You keep looking at the bookshelf, distracted by the objects on it. There is a picture of the twins that makes you smile, some books, and other small pots of plants. You lightly caress the bonsai before looking down.
You run your fingers over the red flower on Wanda's bookshelf, trying to remember the name. Monica has taught you many things, but you don't know many as well.
"Anthurium" Wanda whispers behind you, as she turns off her cell phone and realizes that you are looking at the flower with curiosity. You murmur in understanding, turning to make comment that it is very beautiful, but your speech dies in your throat when you realize how close Wanda is. "What did you want?" She asks curiously and you are almost leaning your body against the bookshelf, trying to think clearly.
"I-I came to ask if you want to have lunch with us." You say while mentally telling yourself not to look at Wanda's lips.
Wanda murmurs in understanding, and you can barely breathe when she stands even closer, her hand outstretched to something above your head. She pulls out a small stick caught in your hair, and all you can do is stare at her with a racing heart as she bites back a smile, and tosses the stick into one of the vases on the shelf behind you.
"I'd like to join you, but I'm busy." She says and her gaze falls to your lips for a second before she turns her head away and walks off. You let out a breath, wiping your sweaty hands on your pants as Wanda walks toward the table in search of the notepad and pen she was using before hanging up her cell phone. "Can you please bring me something to eat? I'm starving. I just don't know exactly what I want..."
You smile as you see Wanda's thoughtful expression with pen and notebook in hand. You approach, putting the notebook down with your hand gently.
"Don't worry, I know what you like." You say simply, and Wanda blinks in surprise, smiling awkwardly. "I'll stop by that confectionery shop you like and also bring you a dessert, okay? You look stressed."
Wanda laughs lightly, her cheeks flushed.
"Thanks, love."
The nickname slips so naturally from her lips that it takes a moment for both of you to realize what has just been said. Your gaze falls to Wanda's mouth the same minute that her pupils dilate. You are almost breaking the distance when Monica opens the door, not noticing the closeness of the two of you because she has her gaze on a piece of paper in her own hands.
You and Wanda immediately turn away, embarrassed.
"We have a big order, girls." She announces excitedly, raising her eyes to you. Monica frowns slightly at the guilty expressions and reddened faces. "Sorry, did I interrupt something?"
"No." You answer in unison quickly, surprising Monica again, who acquires an expression of suspicion and humor. You clear your throat and Wanda lets out a short laugh.
"We were just talking about lunch." You say. "And well, Wanda has a big order too. I guess you guys will need my help then."
Wanda turns to you again with this statement.
"What? No, I can't make you work for me..."
You interrupt with a laugh.
"Wanda, don't even start." You say. "I love staying here. And I'm happy to help, really. Don't worry about it."
"You sure make my shifts more fun." Adds Monica with a smile, making you laugh. Wanda looks at you intently.
"Are you sure?" She asks, and you smile as you nod in agreement. "We'll talk about it later. You can't work for free, and if you're going to help you need a schedule, and breaks and chores."
You laugh, nodding.
"Yes, boss." You murmur playfully and Wanda pats your arm, making you and Monica laugh.
"Let's get our lunch now, I'm starving." Monica orders as she turns to walk out the door. You murmur in agreement, and quickly kiss Wanda on the cheek before following the other woman. Wanda has a foolish smile on her face until you return with her lunch many minutes later.
You call Carol Danvers the day before you return to your apartment.
Things go much better than you expected, but it's not surprising, because you usually expect the worst case scenario.
Carol is very happy to hear from you, and you are happy to know that she doesn't hate you for not calling before. You talk for a few minutes, but she can't talk much on the phone because her shift is about to start. You are surprised to learn that she is working in a nightclub downtown now, unlike months ago when she worked in a rock bar in Queens.
 She tells you that Bruce was traveling because of his internship, but that he would be in town for the weekend, and invites you to visit her at work. You hesitate because you are not sure if you are ready to go to a club, but you accept as you think of Agatha's words about reconnecting with your friends again.
You are the one who drives to your apartment the next day, after you and Wanda leave the flower shop. Your heart is racing the whole time, but Wanda rests her hand on your thigh to calm you down, and as the minutes go by, you can no longer tell whether you are nervous about the trauma or something else.
Parking in the small condo cluster, you take a deep breath. Wanda gives your thigh one last squeeze before she pulls her hand away and gets out of the car, completely oblivious to the way your entire body trembles at her touch. Shaking your head slightly to push that kind of thought away, you step out of the car.
Your hands are shaking wildly as you take your keys out of your pockets, just as you reach the second floor, after you have politely waved to the people who recognized you on the way to your apartment.
"Hey, breathe." Wanda asks softly beside you. And you take a deep breath, and it helps. And then you turn the key, and go inside.
It is exactly the same as the last time you were here, many months ago, on the day of the accident.
Your mother cleaned it up, of course, but it is still the same. Everything is in the exact same place, even the shoes that Nat left lying in the corner of the bookshelf. And you felt your chest tighten when the flashes of memory began.
You walked around, looking at the surroundings while Wanda followed you. A few tears streamed down your face, but you said nothing.
You were in the kitchen when the first sob escaped your throat. Leaning your hands on the counter, you dropped your keys and tried to push away the memories that were clear in your head.
It was as if you could feel Nat in the room. Seeing her in the armchair, laughing at your jokes, or being a disaster in the kitchen on nights when you tried to eat something homemade. Her books mixed in with yours on the bookshelf, your wedding and graduation pictures on the mantelpiece.
You moved away from the counter quickly, however, as Wanda looked at you intently, unsure whether to approach or not. Walking down the hallway, you stopped in front of your bedroom door.
And you stood there. Long minutes staring at the wood. Unable to move.
Feeling arms around your waist, you sighed, your body relaxing considerably.
Wanda hugged you from behind, and waited. You were crying again, and you only stopped after a while. Taking a deep breath, and lightly stroking Wanda's hand to ask her to let go, you waited for her to let go of you to open the door.
Wanda waited for you outside. You just walked around the room, your face wet as you breathed with difficulty, your arms crossed as if you were afraid to touch anything.
When you came out, you took a deep breath once more. And then you said you needed to call your mother.
That's how you spent the rest of the day packing up your apartment together with Wanda, your mother, and Pietro and Monica, who came to help after Wanda said you needed more people.
You came back the other day too, until the only things left were larger pieces of furniture.
"Are you sure you're going to sell?" Your mother asked you in the parking lot as soon as you left there in the late afternoon. Wanda had just gone home with her brother and sister-in-law.
"That was her apartment, Mom." You say as you put the boxes in the trunk. "I could never live here without Natasha."
"It's a good property." She comments, making you chuckle lightly.
"I'm sure the next owners will love it."
"I don't mean to be disrespectful, dear. It's just a nice apartment, not the kind of thing you get every day and..."
"Are you wanting to keep it by any chance?" You interrupt, irritated at your mother's lack of sensitivity. She sighs, and you frown.
"No. But maybe someone else wants to."
It takes a moment for you to understand what she is implying.
"You know Nat didn't talk to her family."
Your mother looks away.
"Actually..." She begins and you close the trunk with a confused expression, "I've been seeing Melina since January."
You blink in surprise, and then let out a dry laugh.
"I am speechless." You say in shock. "You...are you serious? Wow, I...wow."
You lean back against the car, impressed and annoyed. Your mother sighs guiltily, stepping in front of you again.
"Look, I know I should have had something, but you were so..."
"Sad? Yeah mom, my wife died, I had a right to be."
"That's not what I meant."
You sighed, rolling your eyes.
"Yeah, I know." You grumble. "But it sucks that you kept it from me. What the hell does Melina want anyway?"
Your mother looks away for a moment.
"She wanted to see you actually." She says and you let out a wry laugh. "I know how ridiculous it sounds, but her daughter died and you were the only remaining connection to Natasha."
You push your fingers against your forehead lightly, thinking you are starting to get a migraine from this conversation.
"You know what, Mom?" You say. "Since you two have become such good friends lately, tell her that her chance to connect with me was lost the moment she didn't attend the funeral."
Your mother sighs, but you are already turning to get into the car. She follows you a moment later, sitting in the passenger seat.
You drive in silence back home.
//-//
Over the weekend, you almost canceled your plans with Carol.
Your mother was giving you the silent treatment for the way you refused to talk about Natasha and Melina, and you were very irritated by the whole situation.
Grumbling about how ridiculous it all was, you agreed to have coffee with the two women the following week, and your mother's mood changed considerably, the complete opposite of what happened to you.
But you forced yourself to smile, and got up from the couch to get ready.
Around seven-thirty at night, you arrived at the place, which was already very busy, neon lights peeking through the windows along with the loud music.
"My goodness, look at you!" Greeted Carol cheerfully as soon as you met her at the counter. She turned around to hug you tight, and you felt your chest swell with happiness. You had missed your friend so much.
"You got a haircut" You comment in the same excitement, smiling at her. "I missed you, Danvers."
She smiles, mumbling that she missed you too. She asked you to sit on one of the stools at the front of the bar, and you did so while she went back behind the counter.
You updated each other a bit as she served some customers, and a while later, Bruce arrived.
"Banner I can't believe you are wearing a suit in a nightclub." Carol teased as she greeted her friend, making you chuckle slightly as Bruce explained that he didn't have time to look more casual.
"It's good to see you." He said to you as he hugged you, you repeated the words, then sat at the bar.
A few drinks and laughs later, Carol's shift ended, and she sat at a table with you two.
Between telling your friends about your progress in therapy, and hearing how Carol had left her previous job after punching a slacker client in the face, and learning that Bruce was working as an aspiring scientist, and lecturing around the country, the three of you had enough beers for the direction of the conversation to make your cheeks flush.
"I swear to you, she was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen!" Carol told you, making you and Bruce laugh at her excitement.
"Now you're going to say that the next second you saw the next most beautiful woman in the world?" You teased wryly, and Carol laughed as she told you to shut up. "Are you even dating this Gamora girl?"
Carol hid a smirk, taking a sip of her beer.
"Actually." She began. "We're living together."
You widened your eyes in surprise, and then laughed.
"My god, Carol Danvers in love!" You teased making her laugh as she flashed you her middle finger. "No, but seriously, that's amazing! I'm happy for you, Carol."
"Yes, yes." She says smiling, "But what about you? I know you and Nat were like, madly in love or whatever cheesy stuff you put in your books, but it's been months. It would be nice if you met someone new."
The topic is quite sensitive, and the mood at the table changes because of it. But you are far more embarrassed than upset, and you lower your gaze to your bottle before answering.
" Oh, well, i..." You begin half-heartedly. Your stomach does a flip-flop, because you are thinking of a person. "There is someone, I think. But I don't know if we're both ready to take that on yet."
Carol makes an agreeing noise with her mouth, and then has an insinuating little smile on her face.
"Do you still remember how to be with a girl, champ?" your friend teases, and you nudge her shoulder shyly as she and Bruce laugh.
"Aren't those things like riding a bike?" The other man asked timidly, getting a wry look from Carol.
"You know, Bruce, your innocence is admirable." Carol teases making you laugh.
"Don't be mean." You say poking her lightly in the ribs, but Bruce doesn't really care. It's been that way since college when he told you guys he was asexual. The whole thing was funny because Carol has always been very, very sexual. And they have been teasing each other about it for years.
"Ah but I won't be, I promise." She assures. "Actually, I'm much more interested in hearing about your new girlfriend."
You laugh shyly, drinking some of your beer.
"I don't have a girlfriend."
Carol laughed, her gaze running around the room before returning to you.
"Well, that blonde girl has been looking over here for a few moments. I have a girlfriend, and Bruce doesn't like sex. I guess you're the one who's going to have to talk to her."
You widened your eyes at your friend's words, looking forward quickly.
A blond woman was indeed staring at your table.
"I don't think that's a good idea." You mumble clumsily, and Carol gives a little laugh.
"That's too bad, because now that you've looked, she's going to come here." Your friend warns, and you choke on your beer when you see the girl actually getting up from the countertop.
"Carol, help me." You awkwardly whisper but your friend just laughs, and then the stranger catches up with you all.
"Hi." She greets sensually, looking up at you. You swallow dryly as your friend holds back a giggle. "Would you like to dance?"
"I-I..."
"Use your words." Carol teased lowly next to you, making the girl laugh at your clumsiness.
"Don't be shy, I don't bite." The girl added maliciously. " Unless you ask me to."
You feel your face heat up with embarrassment, and you spread your mouth open, not knowing what to say next. Carol murmurs impressed.
"Sorry, sweetie, she used to function better than that." Carol interrupts the interaction, taking pity on your distress. "I think she's taken. But if it's just a dance, we can all enjoy it together."
The girl bites her lips, seeming to consider. She takes one last look at you, and then accepts the invitation.
This is how you end up on a dance floor, trying to escape the hands of a stranger.
You remember how to dance, and the drink helps a lot. But there are hands running over your body before the woman turns around and starts rubbing against you in rhythm with the music. You feel your breath catch, the excitement of having so much intimate contact after so long reaching you completely.
"Are you sure you're taken?" She whispers against your ear, and you give a short laugh, feeling your head spin.
"Yes."  You half-heartedly assure her, using all the rest of your drunken control to push her hands away from you.
The woman didn't mind, stealing a short kiss on your cheek before dancing away, swaying her hips.
Carol threw her arms around you next.
"Wow, you really are in love!" She enthusiastically shouts to be heard between the beats of the music. You laugh with flushed cheeks, saying you need to take some air.
Your friend continues to dance, pulling Bruce close, and the man laughs awkwardly as he puts his arms around the blonde. You chuckle at the scene before turning to go outdoors.
It is easier to breathe outside.
Your first action is to take your cell phone out of your pocket, and check your notifications. Your heart melts when you open a message from Wanda. It is a picture of her and the boys, lying together between a comforter. The caption reads "movie night, doesn't even look like they were jumping on the couch two minutes ago".
You stare at the picture for a few seconds after sending a heart emoji to Wanda. And then you gasp softly, realizing. You really are in love with her. Like in romance movies, and fairy tale books. But also like the real thing. Because you love Wanda's company, her sharp jokes, the way she talks and behaves and cares for everyone. You don't want to be in a bar, or meet another girl. You want to be wrapped in a comforter with Wanda and the kids.
Trying not to panic at this conclusion, you put your cell phone back in your pocket, deciding to go back inside to say goodbye to your friends.
//-//
You are trying to find a way to tell Wanda how you feel. The problem is that you are insecure, because you have no idea if she is ready for a relationship again. You don't even know if she likes women.
With so much suffering in the past months, you also don't want to face a broken heart. So you decide to wait and see how things will turn out.
It is something about the way your life is completely intertwined in Wanda's now, in the same way that she has wrapped herself around your heart that makes you sigh when you think about it everything.
You are distracted while you work, and Monica smiles because you have a smirk while tinkering in the gardens, which is clearly not related to the plants. She doesn't say anything, because it's the same way Wanda smiles when you bring her coffee, or when you two come back from lunch. She can only be excited to think how it will be to organize your wedding.
It is at lunch after group therapy that Wanda invites you to her father's wedding anniversary party. You hadn't met him yet, and a party was a good thing, because you wouldn't have all his attention on you, and it lessens your anxiety considerably.
The party will be at Wanda's father's country house, and you will be able to cross the "take a trip" goal off your therapy to-do list.
In the meantime, you prepare to see Natasha's mother.
It is a Thursday, and you set aside your lunch period for this, because you really don't want this meeting to last more than an hour.
Your mother and Melina are already in the restaurant when you arrive, and you nod politely to the woman when you sit down at the table, signaling that she doesn't need to get up.
"So, what did you want?" you ask snidely, earning a scolding from your mother. Melina doesn't seem to mind your aggressiveness however.
"Let's order something to eat first please." Your mother says before the other woman can respond. You roll your eyes, not disagreeing.
After the waitress takes your orders and leaves, you cross your arms impatiently.
"Look, I know it's hard for you to hear from me after all this time..." The woman begins.
"Hard for me?" You cut her off with irony. "No, Melina. I was not the daughter you abandoned. It was just hard for Nat not to have you around. I simply don't like you myself."
"Honey" Your mother warns, but you let out a dry laugh.
"No, really." You continue firmly. "What do you really want with me?"
Melina sighs, straightening herself in her chair.
"Your mother told me that you intend to sell Natasha's apartment." She says. "I don't approve of such a decision."
You stare at her for a moment, and then let out a laugh.
"I should have known you'd only show up for the money." You say feeling your stomach turn with anger. Melina rolls her eyes, but doesn't deny it. Your mother looks surprised that you are right.
"I gave that apartment to Natasha..."
" I beg your pardon?" you interrupt angrily, your loud tone attracting the attention of the next table. "You gave her the apartment? Are you listening to yourself now?"
"We don't need to get carried away." She asked with irritation in her eyes, drawing a nasal laugh of indignation from you. "You know I'm right."
"No, Melina." You retort seriously, lowering your tone. "Clarify for me how you can possibly think that putting an apartment full of debt in your daughter's name to escape the state, making her work two shifts to pay for everything, sets up like giving an apartment to someone?"
"You are manipulating the facts." She hits back and you nod in disbelief, closing your eyes momentarily. "I had financial problems, and Nat didn't object when I suggested..."
"She was 15." You cut in. "You forgot that little detail right? You also forgot about going to the guardianship board to emancipate your 15 year old daughter just so she could take on a debt of yours?" You asked angrily. "Oh, did you forget about Nat working in a diner throughout her teenage years to pay for everything?"
Melina clenched her jaw, glaring at you angrily. You really weren't in the least bit of patience for this conversation, and it was a good thing the waitress arrived with your orders, because you were about to turn the table.
"I am not hungry anymore." You grumble as soon as the waitress leaves and you look down at your food, your stomach turning. Then you look forward. "When I sell the apartment, I will talk to your lawyer and if you are entitled to anything, you can rest assured that it will come in the mail. Now do me a favor, and never look for me again."
After saying these words to Melina, you exchange a quick glance with your mother and get up, walking to the exit.
//-//
You are pretty upset about the whole Melina thing, but your mood improves almost immediately when Wanda invites you to visit her.
Actually, she needs help with the kids, because she's busy with a rich lady's wedding that required priority on the flower project, and the summer vacation started that week.
Monica was helping Wanda with the whole design, so you and Pietro would take care of the kids.
It was quite fun to do it, because you loved children. Pietro even had the bright idea of setting up a little lemonade stand outside Wanda's house, and while the other women were working, you and he took the kids outdoors.
"Don't you think a million dollars is a lot of money for a glass of lemonade, Billy?" you ask the boy as you watch him put several zeros on the price cardboard. Pietro laughs as he helps his daughter pin up her hair.
"I don't know." The kid tells you without stopping drawing. "I'm a kid, I've never paid anything."
You laugh, looking forward. You and Pietro are sitting on chairs placed on the grass while the children play around the lemonade stand.
When some of the neighbors buy the lemonade, you tell Billy that a gold coin is worth a million, and he doesn't argue.
The temperature rises considerably throughout the day, and around two in the afternoon you and Pietro decide that it would be good to take the kids swimming.
"Call the wives please." Pietro says to you as you stand in the living room after you two walk back in and put everything away, and he is helping the children put on bathing suits. You feel your face heat up at the innocent insinuation of Wanda being your wife, but you say nothing and he doesn't even seem to notice.
You knock on the door, then enter the office, and smile at the two women inside, who seemed to be concentrating on their own papers.
"Let's go for a quick swim girls?" You ask, ignoring the way your stomach gets butterflies when Wanda looks up at you.
Monica lets out an excited exclamation.
"Yes, please!" She says. "This room feels like an oven!"
You and Wanda laugh, and you make room for Monica to walk past you.
"Any chance you have a bathing suit in my size?" You ask Wanda next, and she bites back a smile, thoughtful.
"Let 's find out."
//-//
It is only upstairs that you realize that you have never been in Wanda's bedroom before.
All the times you have been here, you were reserved for the living room, the kitchen and the office. Except for the times you were in the twins' bedroom, and well, when you used the bathroom.
You stood still a bit past the entrance, not knowing exactly what to do with your hands as Wanda searched the closets for a bathing suit for you.
"You know you can look around right?" Wanda commented with playfulness in her speech, making you chuckle shyly.
Stepping forward, you twiddled your fingers together nervously as you looked around. You smiled at the decorations, and especially at the pictures on the dresser.
"Damn, I think I only have one pair." Wanda grumbled as she closed the closet, turning to you next, a swimsuit in her hands. "Do you want to wear it?"
You smiled wryly.
"Not if it's the only one you have." You say. "Don't worry, I'll keep my T-shirt on."
"Don't be silly, it's really hot outside. I'll lend you a bra."
Wanda leaves her swimsuit on the bed and walks over to the dresser behind you. You step aside to give her room to open the drawers.
You look quickly away from the underwear drawer, feeling your heart race at the intimacy of this moment. It only gets worse when Wanda hands you a black sports top, which she is glad to have found.
"Thank you, Wands." You mutter as you accept the garment.
You widen your eyes as Wanda begins to unbutton the shirt she is wearing, but before you have a heart attack, she flashes you a small smile and picks up the swimsuit from the bed, turning toward the bathroom as she uses her free hand to keep the shirt closed.
You take advantage of Wanda's exit to quickly take your shirt off, put on the top and then the T-shirt over it.
A moment later she returns, and your breath catches in your throat.
"This swimsuit has a tie in the back, can you help me with that?" Wanda asks distractedly as she tucks her hair into a bun. You swallow dryly, trying to keep your gaze off her exposed legs.
Wanda stands facing the dresser, watching you approach through the mirror. You ignore your uncompensated heartbeat as you stare back at her, and let out a shy smile as you lower your gaze when you notice her flushed cheeks as you stand right behind her.
Raising your fingers to the height of her back, you gently touch the skin exposed by the opening of her swimsuit. The contact makes every inch of the woman's skin shiver in front of you, and she sighs softly, the sound making your stomach turn.
You risk looking forward again, at your reflection, only to find Wanda's mouth ajar, her eyes dark. You risk dragging your fingers further inside the fabric, making her choke lightly.
Completely mesmerized by the way Wanda's body responds to your touch, you raise your other hand, trailing a finger up from the length of her coccyx to the opening of her swimsuit, watching Wanda close her fists as her cheeks redden.
You can hear the sounds of her uncompensated breathing, but you can also hear the muffled laughter from the distance downstairs, and that motivates you enough to ignore the trembling of your fingers as you zip up Wanda's swimsuit.
"W-we should go downstairs." You whisper in a hoarse voice, ignoring the urge to rip off Wanda's swimsuit.
The redhead swallows dryly before slowly turning toward you. Your faces are so close that you can feel her breath on your cheek.
"I..."
"Mommy why are you taking so long?" Billy's muffled scream coming from the backyard through the window makes you and Wanda jump in fright.
Pietro and Tommy repeat the same sentence next, and you clear your throat, taking a step back. Wanda can't keep her gaze on you as you both walk down to the pool outside.
You can only distract yourself from the feel of Wanda's skin on your fingers because you play in the pool with everyone, and these thoughts are pushed to the back of your mind for the rest of the afternoon.
It is only when you have to leave, after the children have had a bath, and are dressed in comfortable clothes in front of the television, and you have hugged Monica and Pietro goodbye that these thoughts come flooding back when you have to repeat the gesture with Wanda.
You disguise yourself, smiling politely at the couple standing behind the redhead as you let your arms circle her waist as you hug her. Resisting the urge to close your eyes and sink your face into Wanda's neck, who has her hands on your shoulders, you hold back a sigh as you pull away.
"See you on Monday." You murmur in a husky voice, and the redhead nods, her gaze falling quickly to your lips.
You think you'd better get in the car before you lose control of your body.
//-//
Startled slightly, you opened your eyes with difficulty. Someone was calling you, but it must have been very late, because you couldn't see anything in the room but the blinking light on your dresser.
Grumbling, you stretched your arm out to reach for your vibrating cell phone and answer the call.
"Hello?" you asked in a voice hoarse from sleep, closing your eyes again.
"Hey, sorry to wake you." It was Wanda, and her whiny voice made you open your eyes quickly, worried.
"Wanda? Did something happen?"
"Yeah." She agrees, sniffling softly. "I just... I'm so sad. The whole fucking time. Then Tony came over and started saying these things and now I'm crying and I can't stop. I'm sorry, it's not your problem, I shouldn't have called and..."
"I'm coming."
You think Wanda tried to say something to stop you, but you ended the call as you stood up.
"Where are you going?" Your mother asked as soon as you came downstairs, and you were startled to find her awake, but you didn't ask as you noticed the laptop in your lap.
"Wanda." You mumble simply, looking for your keys.
"Kitchen countertop." She informed and you muttered a thank you as you picked up the item from the mentioned spot. "You know, if you're going to start leaving the house at dawn to see her, it might be best to move in with her."
You chuckled awkwardly at the comment as you put on your shoes.
"Try to get some sleep, work will still be there in the morning." You tell her to change the subject, and your mother sighs, turning her attention back to the screen. "You don't have to wait up for me."
"Oh, I figured." She teases last making you roll your eyes in embarrassment before opening the door to leave.
//-//
You didn't have to knock on the door, because as soon as you parked the car and got out, you had a view of the outside garden porch, and you could see Wanda sitting on the rocking bench, looking at the ground.
You sighed, opening the garden gate to enter the backyard.
Making a noise with your feet so as not to startle her, you felt your heart squeeze as she wiped her tears away quickly, turning her head to the side. You sighed, taking a seat on the bench in front of her, rocking it slightly.
"Do you want to talk about it?" You asked a moment later, and from the redhead's silence, you figured not. But she nodded next, looking down at her own feet. "Tell me what happened then."
It takes a moment, but Wanda speaks. She tells how Tony Stark showed up at her door at three in the morning, saying that he blamed himself for his brother death but that this was a good thing now because it was exactly what he needed to change his life and stop drinking, and that she punched him in the nose, saying that this was always his problem, everything was always about him. Tony promised that he would be someone decent now, that he was going to change, and Wanda just pushed him away, telling him to go change somewhere else.
"I feel like the worst person in the world right now." She grumbles as soon as she finishes narrating.
"Why?"
"Tony has been an alcoholic since he was fifteen, and he's finally getting better. I think he was in need of someone to help him."
You shook your head, letting out a short laugh.
"And why is that your problem?" you retorted, surprising her. "Wanda you are under no obligation to suppress your feelings to make others feel better. You have every right to feel angry with Tony. And to not want him in your life again."
Wanda takes a deep breath, burying her face in her hands for a moment, as if trying to believe your words.
You bit the inside of your cheek, deciding whether to speak what you wanted to.
"Wands?" You called after her, and she looked at you. "You said you were sad. Do you want to talk about that too?"
The redhead looks away from you, a weak smile on her lips.
"I don't know how to talk about it really." She starts by looking down at her feet. "I never did."
You wait, stretching your leg out and lightly tapping your feet together with her on the floor. Wanda smiles at the movement, and then bites her lips.
"I think it started when I was a kid." She counters thoughtfully, her gaze straying to the yard around her. "Ever since mama died, or maybe before. There's this sadness, stuck in my chest. And no matter what I do, it won't go away."
You listen intently, waiting for Wanda to finish.
"When I was younger, Papa worked all day and Mama took care of me and Pietro. But she got sick, and granny came to live with us to help. I was ten when she died, and Pietro's anxiety got worse." She swallows dryly, as if the memories are choking her. "Granny didn't know how to help my brother, so I took care of him myself. And when we were in high school, she got sick too. And well, Dad didn't know what to do really, so I took care of her at home while he and Pietro worked to pay for the medications." She adds, and sniffles lightly. "I just remember being tired. All the damn time. I'd go to school, and come home, and I'd eat, and play, and watch TV, but I wasn't really there. I started to think that's how everybody else felt, because I had a normal life, and I had no reason to feel sad."
You frown slightly, but bite your tongue to keep from interrupting.
"Grandma died just before I graduated, and I barely had time to miss her, busy with college applications, and taking care of the funeral at the same time." She counters with a wry laugh, as if realizing how unfair it was that she was left to take care of everything by herself. "And then I met Vis, and he was sweet and kind and he was everything anyone could want. The perfect boyfriend, perfect friend, and brother and husband. So I choked down that sadness, because it wasn't fair that I was with someone so amazing, and I wasn't satisfied." She recounts as she lets the tears flow. "When the twins came, everyone told me that my life was complete. That children were exactly what everyone wanted, and that I had the perfect life. So I kept that image."
Wanda raises her hand to wipe away a tear that ran down her cheek, but others kept falling next.
 "With Vis's death, everything started to fall apart on me." She says after a pause, biting her lips slightly to hold back the crying. She lets out a nasal laugh next. "But I wasn't going to let that happen, so I gathered the pieces together. I put a smile on my face and continued to be the mother my children needed. And then I met you."
You frown in confusion, but Wanda does not look at you. She runs her hands through her hair, shaking her head slightly.
"You came into my life at its worst possible moment. And all you did was make me feel better again." Wanda declared with a sigh, and you felt your cheeks heat up, looking away to your feet. "You don't expect me to be happy, or polite, or sociable. You don't care that I get cranky and irritable, that I wanted to skip work or eat junk food." She counters, wiping a tear from her cheek. "I feel like I can breathe again, because when you look at me you don't judge me like everyone else. You just listen, and observe. And take care of me."
You sigh, impacted by the intensity of the confessions. You think that if you keep quiet long enough, Wanda can hear your heart beating fast.
The redhead takes a deep breath, twisting her fingers slightly before speaking again.
"That's why I called." She counters in a sigh. Her eyes fill with tears again, but she doesn't let them fall. "You've been the only person who makes me feel this way. And when Tony came along I felt I was drowning into those terrible thoughts again. I needed you to pull me back up."
You raise your head to Wanda, but she is looking down at the floor, her cheeks flushed. You smile, rising to sit beside her.
"I will." You whisper as you interlace your fingers, looking forward. Wanda stares at your entwined hands before leaning her head on your shoulder.
"Thank you." She murmurs a moment later.
"Don't mention it." You reply in the same tone.
You stand like this for many minutes, Wanda wiggling your fingers together. You are about to close your eyes when a childish voice startles you a little.
"Mommy?" it's Billy, dressed in adorable teddy bear pajamas, scratching his eyes sleepily. "Why are you out here?"
Wanda looks at him in surprise.
"Come here dear." Wanda asks signaling with her free hand for Billy to approach. The boy yawns, walking over to you two. You mess up his hair as Wanda releases her hand to sit her son on her own lap.
"Why are you here, Y/N?" The boy asks sleepily, making you and Wanda smile at how cute he looks.
"I am a friend of your mother's, Billy, I come whenever she needs me." You reply with a smile, trying not to be affected by the way Wanda looks at you.
"You should come more often, y/n. Mom is happy when you are around." Billy declares causing Wanda to let out a surprised exclamation, and you feel your heart race.
"Oh, really?" You tease with a little smile, and Wanda pushes her shoulder against yours lightly. "I promise I'll visit more often then."
"You can live here!" Billy exclaims excitedly next, making you laugh in surprise.
"Don't be silly, Billy." Wanda adds embarrassed. "We don't have a room."
"She can sleep with you mommy." Billy retorts as if it's obvious, "Daddy's not here anymore, and your bed is too big, because it fits Tommy and me together!"
You swallow dryly, surprised and embarrassed at the way Billy is casual above all, but mostly worried that this comparison might have hurt Wanda. But she lets out a little laugh, shaking her head.
"It's time for bed, enough of this talk" Wanda warns the boy next, getting up with him on her lap.
You accompany the two of them into the house, waiting until Wanda comes downstairs after putting Billy to bed.
Billy's words in your head were still echoing when Wanda suggested that you sleep in her bed after she came downstairs, and part of you wanted to, but you figured that night wasn't the best time. So you slept on the couch, and left after breakfast, ignoring how warm your chest felt at the image of the table with Wanda and the twins having coffee.
//-//
Your first stop after leaving Wanda's house was the cemetery.
Taking a deep breath, you stared at the memorial stone in the ground. The small photograph of Natasha carved into the stone.
"I miss you, pchelka" You whispered softly, leaving your hands in your pockets as you looked down. Your chest hurt less than the first time you came here, but the pain was still there. You imagined that it always would be. "I won't ever stop. But I want to live again. I hope you won’t be mad at me, from wherever you are, and understand that."
Part of you knew that Natasha would be happy for you. It was one of the reasons you loved her so much.
Kneeling down, you pulled out of your pocket the items you had left in the car's glove box a few days ago, planning to do this since the day of the bar.
" This belongs to you." You whispered, after digging in the grass next to the headstone, and pulling out of the small wrapping your wedding rings. You placed the metal in the dirt, along with the daffodil seeds you brought with you. Using some of the water from the bottle you had in your hands, you watered after burying the items. "Rest in peace, my love."
Chapter 12: I fucking said please
Boots crunched over golden and crimson leaves underfoot. And if he had to walk off the path to step on them and make that satisfying noise, of course that’s what Jason Todd was going to do. He used one hand to draw his wine-red cloak a little tighter around himself against a chill breeze that threatened to tear his hood right off. The other was wrapped firmly around a steaming mug of cider, unfortunately spiced and not spiked, but delicious all the same.
He took a swig as he approached the columns of the massive library-- what was soon becoming his favorite place in the game-- and heaved the great door open. He stepped inside, leaves eddying around his feet, and inhaled deeply and gratefully.
Books.
God, he fucking loved books.
Jason was about as happy as he could be. He had just put most of his savings towards purchasing a small cabin on Level 20. It was a solo house, built on commission by NPCs who would keep their mouths shut, and far enough away from the rest of the guild (and people in general) that he could actually sleep at night. One special request he’d made was to add skylights in the whole house. Over the kitchen, the living room, especially the small bedroom. He’d toured the place when it was nearly completed, and the soft starlight it let in was just... perfect.
Afterwards, he’d spent some time walking around the crisp autumn air of Level 9. And now he was devoting the entire afternoon to reading and checking out new books. Literally what could make this day more perfect?
“So there’s this level where all the people are fish and the sea monster boss is crazy strong, no one’s been able to beat it yet--”
“Yeah well, it’s not stronger than me! I’ll kick his ass into Tuesday, just watch.”
“Kim, get down from there, you’re going to get us kicked out.”
Jason looked up from the bookshelf he’d been perusing to see some Vietnamese kid up on a table, making poses like a pro wrestler. A pro wrestler who didn’t have any muscles to show off.
Hands on hips and glaring at the boy stood a shrimp of a girl, with bright pink hair to match. As Jason raised an eyebrow, she taunted, “If you don’t get down from there, I’m telling everyone how you cried when we watched ‘Old Yeller.’”
The boy gasped dramatically. “You wouldn’t dare.”
The girl leaned up on her tiptoes and smirked. “I would.”
Shrimpy was a blackmailer after his own heart, it seemed. Several of their other friends seemed to be milling about, and a few came over to the table Kim was on to see what the commotion was about.
“Kim, what on earth are you doing up there? Get down,” a tired, and very familiar, voice said.
“Aw, but Mari....” He honest-to-god pouted.
“No buts. Down.”
Mari? And that voice.... Jason approached the end of the aisle to get a better look, and there she was. Marinette, in all her tiny glory, holding Kim and the shrimp by their ears.
“Keeping the troops in line, I see?” Jason addressed his friend as he easily shifted his stack of five or six books to one hand to wave with the other.
“Jason!” She blushed slightly (or was that just wishful thinking?) and dropped her friends’ ears. She grinned up at him, all traces of scolding smoothed over by a bright smile. “Um, hey, what are you doing here?”
He gestured to his pile of books. “Same as you, I expect.”
He nodded to the similar stack of books sitting on the table behind her. Glancing at the titles, they were mostly about healing mechanisms in Mindscape. Odd choice, but after their near-miss at the Cyclops fort, he couldn’t blame her.
“Haha, yeah,” she gave him an awkward smile and shifted to hide the books behind her. “It’s raining back at the house today, so we all wanted to take a trip to the library.”
“It was my idea, actually,” a girl with green eyes and olive skin sauntered up to them, eyeing the books balanced in his hands. Jason flinched back and narrowed his eyes as she flipped her long brown hair and nearly hit him in the face. “I just adore old literature.”
Swallowing down the annoyance he felt, Jason sidestepped the source of it and pulled up a chair next to the seat Marinette’s books were in front of.
“I’m Lila,” the supposed-literature buff shoved a hand in front of his face, whether to shake or to kiss, he wasn’t sure. Interesting, that was the name Marinette had associated with “accusations.” Jason filed that away for later.
“I didn’t ask,” he responded coolly and opened up King Lear. It was one of his favorite Shakespearean plays, and this copy in particular was one he’d borrowed and read so much that the library gave it to him, if only so they could buy a copy that wasn’t falling apart at the seams.
The girl made a noise of indignance, but Marinette snorted, so it was worth that much at least. A few more people filtered in from the stacks, joining the group in the open space filled with tables and comfortable chairs. One redheaded girl in particular approached Marinette, glasses frames hardly masking her excitement.
“Marinette, you won’t believe it, they actually have information about all the American superheroes here! They even had a section for the French heroes, but we know all about them, so I didn’t waste my time there. Look at them all!” The girl excitedly waved behind her, where a boy with a red cap was laden with a teetering pile of books. Next to him, a blond boy was similarly weighed down, though he had a few books about local wildlife in the game balanced on top of the editorials and comic books.
“That’s great Alya,” Marinette smiled, then looked at the boys with concern. “Why don’t you guys put those down here?” She quickly cleared a space for them to place the books on her table. They gratefully deposited them and slumped down in the chairs opposite Jason.
“Whew, thanks M. Thought she’d never let us out of there,” the boy with the red cap wiped his glasses on his shirt.
“Eh, we needed the exercise!” The blond boy shook out his hands.
“Easy for you to say, Kitty,” Marinette reached over the table and booped his nose. Jason swallowed the pang of jealousy he felt at their causal interactions. And nicknames. Very familiar nicknames.
“Oh where are my manners,” her eyes widened slightly. “Jason, this is Alya,” the redhead, “Nino,” red-cap boy, “and Adrien.” Blond. Kitty. Potential enemy. “They’re my friends from lycee! Guys, this is my friend Jason,” Marinette continued on cheerfully.
Adrien beamed at him. “So this is the famous Jason who’s been stealing away our Marinette.” His positivity was practically a threat, Jason could feel how much more alert and guarded this boy was compared to their other friends. Marinette buried her head in her book, unsuccessfully trying to hide a blush that reached her ears.
“So! Jason, where are you from?” Alya obliviously cut in, thumbing through one of the very first publications on the Justice League. “I assume Mari told you we’re all from Paris.”
He leaned his chair back to balance it on two legs, replying, “Yes, she did. I’m from Gotham City, born and raised.”
Alya’s eyes locked onto him with an intensity he wouldn’t have expected. He could practically feel a million questions bubbling to the surface, and sure enough, they broke free momentarily.
“Have you ever seen Batman? Or the other Bats?” Alya practically levitated towards him but was gently pulled back by Nino.
“Easy there, Als. Sorry, she’s a big fan of superheroes.” Nino helped her settle back into her seat with a fond smile.
“Vigilantes.”
Even Marinette looked up from her book at that.
“Come again?” Alya blinked confusedly.
Jason put his hands behind his head and leaned back further in his chair. “The Bats are called vigilantes, not heroes. And there’s nothing super about them. As far as anyone can tell, they don’t have any powers.”
Alya’s eyes widened. There was a beat, then she whipped out a notebook and pen and scooched her chair closer. “Tell me more,” she said.
Jason gave her a few details, nothing an ordinary Gothamite wouldn’t pick up on, and even recounted a few incidents he’d been caught up in as a civilian. Alya avidly wrote down every detail, while Nino looked on, only half-listening. For her part, Marinette only pulled her attention away from her books when Jason talked about being in danger. She looked concerned, it was an expression he absolutely adored on her sweet face.
They were just laughing at a story he’d recalled involving the Riddler and a green screen when someone new sauntered up to them. Lila sat on the edge of their table, snatching up Jason’s opened copy of King Lear and placing it on her lap.
“Hey Jason, right? I haven’t seen you around before,” she batted her eyelashes at him. She began idly thumbing through the pages, letting them all fall open until she reached the back cover and snapped it shut.
“I’m mostly on the front lines. What is it that you do?” Jason challenged her.
She laughed and crossed one leg over the other, moving the book-- his book-- to be carelessly held aloft in one hand. “I help out around the guild, doing odds and ends, motivating our fearless warriors.” Marinette snorted, which Alya frowned at.
Lila tapped a finger to her chin. “Though, I could ask the same of Marinette. We hardly ever see you, I hope you’re not just spending all your time here reading,” she put on a faux-concerned look. Ah, so she was out to get Marinette it seemed.
“Let me correct myself. I’m usually on the front lines with Marinette. She and I make a good team,” Jason glanced next to him to catch the small smile blooming on his friend’s face. “Now may I please have my book back.” He finished flatly.
Lila took it in stride. “What’s the magic word?” She asked flirtatiously, lofting the book high in the air, above his reach.
“I fucking said please,” Jason growled, then lunged for the book. He only made it as far as her wrist though, which he barely squeezed before she gave a cry of pain and dropped it.
Of all the fucking things....
Lila cradled her wrist, which definitely wouldn’t even bruise, and started to sniffle. Alya jumped up and comforted the girl, helping her down from the table and guiding her to a nearby chair. Meanwhile, Jason gingerly peered around the table to see the mess on the floor. The book’s binding had come undone, its pages miraculously still mostly in order but no longer held together.
He leaned back with a groan. “Fuck,” he muttered under his breath.
Marinette stood up and walked around the table to gently pick up the pages, keeping them as close to their proper order as she could. She placed them softly on the table in front of him.
“I’m sorry about her,” she locked eyes with him. She was barely taller than him like this, her standing and him sitting, and looking up at her allowed her bangs to frame her face in a way he’d never seen. She looked so beautiful, it took him a moment to actually remember he was supposed to be talking. It still didn’t fix his favorite book though.
“That’s okay. Hopefully it’ll teach her a damn lesson,” he shot a glare at where Lila sat, being waited upon by a growing crowd.
Marinette rolled her eyes as if she’d been through this countless times before. “We can only hope,” she muttered, taking her seat next to him once more. “Will you get in trouble with the library?”
He scoffed. “Not likely. They actually gave this copy to me since I wore it out so much.” He glanced around to see if anyone else was near them. Adrien seemed to have left, electing to hide rather than be coerced into tending to Lila. “It’s uh, actually one of my favorites. I’ve always had a soft spot for Shakespeare.”
Marinette’s face fell. How could she still be so gorgeous when her eyes were that sad? “I’m so sorry, I had no idea.” She looked thoughtful for a moment. “W-would you like me to try repairing it for you? I um, I know how to sew and it’s the least I could do since it’s so important to you,” She had started rambling, increasingly jerky hand movements accompanying her speech, “and I can’t believe how careless she was to actually break your poor book, I mean who even does that, so if you want--”
“Yes,” Jason stilled her hands from their wild gesturing, holding them gently. “That would mean a lot.” Her soft blue eyes met his in a tentative smile. “Plus,” Jason said, releasing her hands and leaning back in his chair once more, “then I’ll owe you a favor.”
Marinette reached over to carefully slide the pages in front of her. “Oh really? And just what does a ‘favor’ from you entail?” She teased.
“Whatever you’d like, darling,” he winked at her. She rolled her eyes, but didn’t bother stopping the smile on her face.
“I’ll hold you to that,” she shot back.
He watched as she pulled out a sewing kit and began to thread a needle with thick twine. “Oh, I’m counting on it.”
She shook her head, then a look of concentration overtook her smile as she began to line up the pages perfectly.
He was interested in exactly how she planned to mend the book, sure, but he found that he couldn’t look away from her hands as she worked. They were so small, yet so nimble and they handled the needle and thread with a practiced air. One delicate hand held the stack of pages steady, while the other deftly pierced their edges, doubling back on itself to secure them in place. She worked quickly and quietly, seemingly lost in her own world.
Jason was so fascinated by watching her mending, healing, that he almost completely missed Lila tearfully walking past him, only realizing she and her entourage had done so minutes afterward. He didn’t mind though, he was content to watch Marinette all day. He blinked, realizing that he was exactly that, content, here with her. He fought back a smile as she stuck her tongue out from between her lips. How he’d like to put that tongue somewhere else--
“Done!” She proclaimed, proudly snipping the thread and knotting it off. She handed the book over to him, now coverless, with a grin.
“Thank you, Marinette. Seriously,” he opened the book up to where he’d left off, testing how secure the pages felt. “You did an amazing job.”
She blushed. “Oh, thanks! If it ever comes undone or feels loose, just let me know. I was just kind of guessing since I’ve never actually bound a book before. And you may want to see someone about the cover.”
Jason stared at her. “Really? It feels perfect.” You feel perfect, he thought to himself.
“Oh, that’s great! I hope it works out well for you,” she blushed, trying very hard not to accept his praise. Well, clearly she deserved it, so that was something they’d need to work on. He found himself surprised at how easily he could picture a future with them together, showering her in compliments until she learned that they were all true.
A voice that sounded suspiciously like Dick rang out in his head, Woah there, slow down tiger. Take her on an actual date first. And another voice that sounded a lot like Bruce, If she even wants that much from someone like us. A smaller voice that echoed his own added, Someone like you. All valid points. His smile faltered a little. He would just have to wait it out and see what Marinette wanted. But he... he couldn’t be the one to initiate anything. Not when he was so broken.
He watched her struggle to stack up all her books and return them to the shelves, shaking his head fondly before grabbing more than half of them from her arms, piling them on top of his own. She smiled at him gratefully and lead the way deeper into the stacks.
No, he couldn’t ask that of her, not when she was so perfect. Flirting was all well and good, but he hadn’t expected to care as much as he was starting to. So flirting would have to be as far as he’d let himself go.
for @floral-cas
The first time, Dean gave Cas flowers, it was just a joke.
He saw an old lady on the street with bouquets of daisies. It was a windy day, and she wore only a sweater, and he just thought it would be nice to help her a little. Small bouquets cost three dollars, the big ones five. He took one of them and give the lady ten bucks.
“Keep the rest,” he said, but the lady shook his head.
“No, sweetheart, I can't. But I can make for you a bigger bouquet, just wait a minute.” She took more flowers to added them to the bouquet. “Who's the lucky one?”
Dean scratched his head, thinking about some reliable lie.
“Umm, I... It's for me, I just like flowers.”
The lady didn't believe him, but she smiled anyway and started talking. She talked a lot, like she missed for company. When Dean walked away, he knew that she sold flowers for years, earlier her wife had helped her; he knew she had an old cat; he knew meds were expensive; and he knew that her names was Jude.
Dean came back to the car, he had no idea what he was going to do with flowers, he just threw them on the back seat and drove to home.
*
Cas was staring at the bouquet in Dean's hand. Of course, he was staring, it wasn't like Dean brought flowers every day.
“Do you have a date, Dean?” he asked, tilting his head. And maybe it was crazy, but Dean heard disappointment in his voice. But why Cas would be upset because of some stupid date?
“Oh, no, it's for you, actually,” he teased, giving him flowers. Cas hesitated for a moment, but he took the daisies eventually, watching them curiously. Dean wanted to explain it was just a joke, but before he even can open his mouth, Cas smiled shyly (Dean had no idea Cas could smile this way, it was adorable somehow) and smelled flowers.
“Thank you, Dean. It's very nice of you. They're beautiful.”
Dean didn't say anything, just shrugged his arms. He was cool with this, just dudes being dudes.
*
It became their tradition. Every Monday, Dean came back to the bunker with a new bouquet, always different flowers: tulips, daffodils, peonies, violets…
Of course, he was doing it only because he felt sorry for that old lady… Right?
*
“We were together almost forty years. We were married only for a short moment, she passed away two months after our wedding. But I'm glad that we could finally do this, even if we were old then...” said Jude, showing him pictures of her and her wife. They looked so happy there, Dean knew he won’t ever have something like this, an apple pie life wasn’t for hunters.
“I have a friend, a good friend,” he confessed. “He gets all these flowers... And I think, I like him more than I should.”
“Than you should?” she repeated. “I think you should love whoever you want...”
“It's not that simple.”
“Oh, life isn't simple, boy, but it doesn't mean it's not worth to try.” She smiled to him to get him more courage. Dean for the first time mentioned Cas to her.
“The thing is... He could never feel the same, and I... Even if he does, my father would despise me, I can't do this. I can't like the other man this way.” Maybe John was dead for years, but Dean was still afraid of him to even try to live his own life.
“I see... I and Flora… I was the one, who had doubts. I knew she loved me, and I knew I loved her, but my parents, they would’ve never accepted this relationship. So, we run away.”
Dean realized that for Jude it wasn’t easy for the beginning, and it gave him hope that maybe he could do this too. Maybe it wasn’t too late for him.
“Actually, my father is dead...”
“So what stop you?” she asked politely.
“I don't know.” He shakes his head. “I think I stop myself.”
*
“Mornin' sunshine, it's for you.” Dean took new flowers from behind his back.
“Sunflowers!” Cas grinned at him, and something shined in his eyes. He looked so happy like he just got some precious item, not just stupid flowers. Dean was surprised, not for the first time, that his angel can be so delighted because of so simple gift.
“Do you like them?”
“Very much... They remind me about Jack.”
“Ouch! Not about me? I gave them to you!” he mocked, and it made that Cas smiled even more.
“I know, but you're more like lily.”
Dean blinked twice in confusion. Lily? The hell!
“Umm, what? It doesn't sound... good,” he shared with his doubts. Lily was flower for chicks, he should be Venus Flytrap or some other badass shit (why it was Venus, actually? Mars Flytrap sounded better).
“Why? It symbolizes pure heart, and you, Dean, have it, no doubt.”
“I… Okay.” He didn't feel comfortable, hearing things like this. Fortunately, Cas changes subject.
“And what about me? Which one am I?”
“I know shit about flowers symbolism,” he chuckled, but after Cas' sad gaze, he rolled his eyes and replied. “Forget-me-not. I think. They're blue like your... Blue is your color, you know, and I... I could never forget you.”
*
It was a shitty Monday, Dean was on the case, bloody vampires!, and he didn't have a time to see with Jude. And no Jude meant no flowers for Cas. Although, he stopped a car near the meadow and picked one flower, now it seemed to be ridiculous, he didn't plan to give it to Cas...
In the kitchen, Cas was waiting for him with a pie and a cup of steaming coffee.
“Oh, God, you're the best,” he said, taking the first sip. “I feel like a dumbass now.”
“What do you mean?” asked Cas, frowning.
“You prepared all of this, and I couldn't afford you flowers.”
“Dean, you're not obligated to do this. It was a nice thing, but it's not necessary. And I know, you were busy.”
It's none excuse, he thought. Cas seemed to be really okay with this, but Dean still weren't.
“Look, I know it's not the same. But it's the only thing I could find on my way,” he said, pulling a single blue flower from his pocket. “Forget-me-not for unforgettable angel.”
“Oh, Dean, thank you! It's perfect.”
“I don't think so… It's smashed, and… Jeez, Cas, it's so stupid, I can't even give you a proper bouquet, I…”
“Dean,” he interrupted him. “Come with me, I want to show you something.”
*
Cas took some book from a bookshelf in his room. He opened it and showed Dean what was hidden inside. There were dried flowers from earlier bouquets. One flower for each one.
“Like I said, it was perfect. It's gonna suit to my collection,” he explained. “And, Dean, I won't forget about you either. Never.”
Dean was just staring at Cas, thinking how much this little gesture meant to him, but in the next second, he caught Cas' lip in his own, and kissed him for the first time. He didn't need to wait a long time for a response, Cas hands found the back of his neck, and the angel was kissing him with passion.
Oh my God, he thought. Cas feels the same. Cas feels the same...
They pulled away and stared at each other for a while, breathing hard.
“Is it why you gave me all that flowers? Like in the movies?” asked Cas, and Dean noded.
“Yeah... Like in the movies.”
Cas grabbed Dean's hand and brushed it with his lips. He understood him without any words.
“Me too, Dean.” He kissed his knuckles once again. “Me too.”
*
“This is Cas,” said Dean on the next Monday. “Cas, this is Jude.”
“It's nice to meet you. Dean talked a lot about you,” explained Cas.
“You didn't lie, boy, he really looks like an angel.” Dean's face turned red, and he mumbled something.
“And what do you have today? Roses?” he changed subject.
“Red ones. Flowers for lovers.”
Dean smirked, of course, that roses were available on the first Monday after he and Cas got hitched.
“So, I think we'll take the biggest bouquet.”
oikawa
oikawa is definitely the clingier one— if not, then he turns it into a little competition between the two of you to see who would be clingier.
he would 101% deny the fact that he's clingy.
but this time, you decided to do a little prank on him.
"y/n! i'll be heading to practice now~ don't miss me too much, okay?" he leaned against the door frame of your room, arms crossed as he waits for your response.
"whatever." you laughed, gesturing for him to go but instead of actually leaving, he walked to you and hugged you tightly.
"I don't feel like going today." he whines, "babe, you should really go. i wanna go back to sleep already— besides, you wouldn't want iwaizumi to scold you again, right?" you held his shoulders, gently pushing him off you.
he sighs, unwillingly standing up away from the bed and finally deciding to leave the room. you listened to him rambling something about how the other pair of his shoes is missing again and so you took the opportunity to quickly take out your phone and place it in the bookshelf to be covered by the books.
"i'll leave now, y/n! see you later, i love you!" you heard him shout, followed by the sounds of his keys.
"take care, tooru!" you replied back, stifling a giggle to yourself as you try to make yourself look busy by randomly picking out a book as you were actually reading its content.
"babe?" you were startled when his head suddenly popped up, "yeah?" you asked.
"i said i love you." He frowned a bit.
"i know, i heard you the first time." you smiled, diverting your attention back to the book.
"that's all?" and there he is again, standing beside your bed.
"was i supposed to say anything else?" you tilted your head.
"you were supposed to say something like 'ohoho i love you too my wonderful boyfriend, tooru!'" you physically cringed at him, "ew, i don't sound like that." you playfully roll your eyes. still refusing to give in to him.
"y/n babe, just say it back, please? i really need to go." he pleads, snatching away your book.
"and besides, what are you even reading when the book is completely upside dow— is this one of your pranks again, y/n?" he exclaimed as soon as he finally caught up to what you were trying to do and you couldn't hold in your laugh.
"took you long enough." he exasperated a sigh, reaching out to your hand and pulled you to stand up.
he cups your cheeks, squeezing it which forces you to pout. "now, say it back." he demanded.
"i love you too, tooru." your words came out muffled.
"y/n-chan~ you're making me not want to leave." you had enough of his childishness and pushed him out, he was about to protest but just in time, he received a text from his best friend.
"oh." he mutters, staring blankly at his screen and you didn't even have to look before figuring out who it was.
"now go."
tendou
it was almost impossible to describe your relationship with tendou, like literally—
you two would be fighting then a few minutes after that, you two would be seen making out again.
the whole team was honestly tired but oh well, you treat them food on a daily basis so who are they to complain?
however, the word 'boring' would never be a suitable adjective to explain your relationship. you know what word would perfectly describe the both of you?
'petty'
"i'll buy snacks for us for our movie night, wait here." tendou happily said, getting his coat that you neatly folded.
you pulled your gaze away from the t.v and looked at your boyfriend who was standing right in front of the door.
"but babe, isn't our movie night tomorrow?" you quirked a brow at him, eyeing him suspiciously which earned a laugh from him.
"i know i know. i didn't forget about it. i just wanted to spend the whole night here tomorrow." he said.
"you're just gonna meet up with someone." you joked and of course he did not take that seriously because the trust you have in each other is too much.
but no jokes would stop him from leaving, especially if it involves food so he opened the door but before completely leaving, he turned to your direction.
"i'll go now! i'll be as quick as i can. i love you~" he waved energetically and by energetic, we all know that his whole upper body would be swaying along.
"take care, satori! make sure to buy my favorite drink." you reminded him before facing the t.v again.
the way his brows furrowed at you failed to be unnoticed by your peripheral vision but he shrugged it off and left.
true to his words, he came back shortly after. placing down the paper bag on the counter before sitting down right next to you.
"do you wanna pick the movie now?" you pointed at the remote that was placed between the two of you but he continued to just observe you.
you turned your head to him in confusion, "is there something on my face?" you ask but he didn't budge and so you snapped your fingers at him. still no response.
but he took that opportunity to grab your wrist that was formerly in front of his face and leaned in closer.
"i love you." he muttered.
"t-thanks?" you stammer out, leaning back on the couch until you were completely laying down while tendou is still on top.
his lips tugged upwards, "i hate you." he blurted, you were almost offended but you didn't want to give up yet.
"the feeling is mutual." you said, trying to sound as sincere as possible but the two of you just burst out laughing before going back to your original position a while ago.
"you could have chosen any other prank but you picked the most basic one?" he snorted before continuing," i'll show you what a real prank is. just so you wait."
well, good luck surviving the whole week.
bokuto
now why the heck would you prank this boy
probably because you can but anyway–
pranks don't happen often in your relationship because bokuto would rather cuddle with you instead!
but you decided to pull a harmless prank on him that you saw on your FYP this morning, but before that, you realized he wasn't beside you the whole time so you stood up to find him in your house.
"BAAAABBYY!" you slightly yelped and saw him come out of the bathroom, apologizing profusely as he approached you for a hug.
"sorry~ did i scare you?" you nodded and he backed away from the hug, his eyes staring at you lovingly.
"it's unfair for you to be this pretty!" he pouted, cupping your cheeks in his big hands and you chuckled. "i think akaashi's prettier though." your statement made him dramatically gasp.
"y/n baby! don't tell me you like MY best friend?!" you immediately pull him into a hug once again. your hand reaching out to his hair and ruffling it.
"of course not! i was just joking. besides, you're the only person i would date." you heard him whisper an 'oh' before he pulls away from your touch.
"that's good then! i thought you were gonna leave me."
"i would never." you smiled at him, giving him a reassurance tap on his shoulder.
he glanced at your wall clock before turning his gaze back to you and pouted. "as much as i want to stay, i promised konoha to help him with something so i might have to leave now."
"it's okay. stay safe out there." you reached for his hand and walked him to the door, knowing well that he won't bother moving so you had to force him.
"i love you!" he kissed you on the nose and waited for a response. "bye, kou!" he waited again for a few seconds, hoping for you to say it back but you didn't.
"did i... do something wrong? i won't leave if you don't want me to!" he insisted and guilt washed over you.
"wait, no! it was just a prank. i'm so sorry, kou. i love you too. i'm not mad at you, don't worry." he was still skeptical but he noticed how you were slowly closing the door so he sighed in defeat.
"i love you." he tries again.
"i love you too." and with that, he finally felt relief and finally left.
Bookshelf Confessions - Peter Parker
Peter and MJ are caught in the middle between a relationship and a friendship, a situationship if you will. There are definitely some feelings between the both of them, but when she overhears Peter talking to Ned about them in the library, she pulls you in to listen in with her and the conversation takes a turn you both didn’t expect.
A/N: Hi guys! So this was a late night tiktok inspiration. Here is the video I got it from and I changed the words up a bit to better fit how Peter would talk and to better describe MJ as well but anyway, I hope you enjoy! Oh also, if you guys really want it, I could do a part 2 to this but we will see :)
Part 1 of Books Tell Secrets and Lies
Warnings: some curse words
Word Count: 3.2k+
--------------------------------------------------
“Ned, I need to talk to you,” Peter whispered to the boy as he grabbed his arm and pulled him between a couple of bookshelves in the library. School had just ended, and the mop of brown curls dragged his best friend all the way to the room filled with books and resources as soon as class had been dismissed.
Though it was a library and you were supposed to be silent, the way Peter was being exceptionally quiet and almost secretive obviously caught the eye of an observant and nosy Michelle Jones. She was about to join the pair, but upon noticing that her boyfriend—if you could even call him that—seemed to try to be hiding something from her, she stopped. If Peter ever had a problem, he would round all three of you guys up to discuss it, needing all of the brilliant sound minds of his buddies to help him make a decision. So, when he was only talking to Ned without you and her included, she got a weird feeling and hung back behind the shelf next to them to eavesdrop.
You were minding your own business as you searched for a book to write your English report—which you thought was ridiculous that you already had a big assignment to complete when it was only the second week into your senior year but that was a topic for another day—and you were walking past the aisles to find where the fiction books of author’s with the last name starting with Z would be found when a hand reached out to grip your arm and tug you into a nearby aisle. You were about to protest until you saw it was only your harmless yet curious best friend. Before you could open your mouth to ask why the hell she dragged you here, her hand quickly but silently covered your mouth, prohibiting you from speaking at all. Her other hand came up to her own mouth as she placed a finger in front of her lips signaling you to be quiet. Rolling your eyes, you grabbed your phone.
Y/n: ??
She pointed towards the bookshelf and you heard the mumblings of one Peter Parker, the top of his head hard to miss when it was peering above the dusty books that lined the metal shelf.
You, MJ, Ned, and Peter made quite the friend group. Though you all were fairly different, your similarities brought you together and you loved having them by your side. What made it even better is that when MJ and Peter started their “relationship”, it didn’t mess up the dynamic at all. You all still hung out and you and Ned weren’t uncomfortable with their closeness at all, though you both did want to know if they were actually dating or not.
Since the Europe trip, they have been a lot closer. There was no denying that. You and Ned both have seen the stolen glances and holding hands under the lunch table. There was something going on there that they didn’t want to let on or they were just simply happy being together more often.
When you heard about Peter’s plan to woo MJ over the summer, you’d be lying to yourself if you said you were not a little disappointed. You were ecstatic for MJ, but your heart longed to be in her place. He had looked to you for help in making her swoon since you had been her best friend for years and while you would always help Peter no matter what, it hurt to see him in awe of another girl. Once you found out that MJ felt the same towards Peter and you knew his plan would work, you pushed those thoughts and feelings to the back of your mind, far where no one could find them. You had been a tad upset for a moment, but when you saw how happy they were, there was nothing more you could do but support them.
You still were confused as to why you both were hiding from your friends behind a bookshelf before MJ started typing furiously on her phone to text you.
MJ: peter is being hella sus and i wanna get to the bottom of it
Y/n: you little detective
MJ smirked at you as you both leaned in a little closer to hear better.
“I’ve been hanging out with MJ,” Peter started, running a hand through those beautiful chestnut curls and focusing on Ned who was smiling innocently and nodding along to the conversation. “Everybody thinks we’re dating because I spend my weekends hanging at her house and watching movies or whatever.”
“Yeah,” Ned chuckled, clueless to where the conversation was heading as were you. MJ had a deep feeling in her gut that it would lead to him telling Ned he wants to break up with her even though they were not actually together, but she wasn’t quite sure that was all he had to say.
“She’s on the decathlon team, one of the smartest people I know, and she’s could even be prom queen if she wasn’t so against it.” Both the boys lightly laughed at that as you all knew MJ too well. You had to hold back your giggle while you and MJ shared an amused look before continuing to listen in on the conversation.
“While we study chemistry, there’s a little more chemistry between us if you know what I mean,” you watched the bashful boy sputter while pink dusted his cheeks. You looked to MJ who found the floor to be much more interesting than your gaze at the moment.
‘You guys fucked? And you didn’t tell me,’ you mouthed after placing your fingers under her chin to make her look up at you. Her eyes widened and she shook her head profusely before mouthing back, ‘no, just made out a lot.’ That put your heart at ease a bit yet you still weren’t fond of it, but Peter’s next words caught the attention of you both.
“But I have a secret I must confess,” Peter sighed, eyes flitting down almost as if in shame. Your eyebrows furrowed while your puzzled expression met MJ’s worried one. Your hand reached out to grab hers and your thumb rubbed smoothly over her knuckles, a small gesture you knew provided her with much comfort and though she was trying not to show it, you knew she was getting anxious.
“It’s not her laugh or the way she’d dress. She’s not the reason I’ve been thinking about love,” he muttered with his head still down. Ned let out a light gasp at what he was hinting at and your heart broke for MJ. You tugged at her hand and tried to step forward to lead her out of the library, this conversation being one she did not need to hear, but she remained put. She gave you a sad nod as if saying ‘it’s okay y/n’, so you conceded and stayed with her for emotional support. But you knew the second she left, you would rip Peter a new one if she hadn’t done it first.
“Every weekend we hang out, I lose my cool when she’s around over stupid little things that shouldn’t even bother me,” Peter stated with a huff, angry with himself because of how he felt. If he could love MJ and not feel at war with himself and his feelings, then that is what he would do but he was growing tired of the constant battle in his head and in his heart. “And I don’t know if this is just a crush.”
So, he liked someone else for sure because that was the second time he mentioned something like that. You were growing angry with the boy and you knew that even if he possessed superhuman abilities, your rage would overpower him. Your eyes mixed with sadness and anger sought out MJ again to check on her. She was remaining closed off as always, but she had begun to open up a bit more recently and Peter’s actions were putting her back where she was.
“How do I find the words to tell her,” Peter paused, eyes darting around before meeting Ned’s, “that I’m in love with her best friend.”
You and MJ both stiffened and for some reason, you felt uncomfortable holding her hand now. You were doing it to comfort her as you always have, but you were the girl her ‘boyfriend’ was in love with. Your wide eyes remained trained on Peter and Ned as you waited for them to further confirm your suspicions.
“Y/n?” Ned gawked at his best friend. He had zero clue that Peter felt like this, but he did know you had a small crush on Peter when y’all were formulating the plan to get MJ to fall in love with him. Ned had seen the way you looked at Peter and one day, he saw the tears that brimmed your eyes before you excused yourself to the bathroom, Peter too focused on perfecting each step to see that you were distraught. Ned left as well to go ‘get something from his locker’ and he found you fanning your eyes dry and blowing some air out to calm yourself.
“You like him, don’t you?” Ned questioned as you turned around to hide your embarrassment. You were crying over Peter Parker while helping him get with your best friend. It was silly.
“Hey,” he spoke calmly as he placed a comforting hand on your shoulder. “You don’t have to hide from me. I saw the tears before you left but y/n, why are you helping him with this if you know he will end up with someone else? Doesn’t that hurt?”
“Yes, it hurts like hell but what am I supposed to do? Tell him I like him?” you spoke sarcastically but of course, he took it literally.
“Yes! That’s exactly what you should do,” he encouraged while you shook your head.
“I can’t do that to him, Ned. He is head over heels in love with MJ. Anyone with eyes can see that and though she will not let anyone know, I can tell she has a crush on him too so who am I to get in the way of that? They will be happy together and I will get over him. I will be okay, Ned,” you told him as you quickly wiped away your tears.
“Promise you’ll be okay?” Ned inquired, holding out a pinky for you to link yours with his. The childish act made you smile, and you did just that.
“I promise as long as you don’t tell him.” Ned nodded in agreement and you two unlinked pinkies. “Now I am gonna actually go to the bathroom to make sure I look fine, and I’ll be back,” you informed him before heading into the restroom.
“Yeah, Ned. I fucked up. I am going to ruin the whole group and their friendship. MJ will hate me and so will y/n for hurting MJ,” he sighed, leaning against the shelf to his right and keeping his eyes down. He felt so bad for this, but this was how he felt and he could not keep lying to MJ.
“Peter, you’re an idiot if you think they’re gonna let you ruin their friendship. They were best friends before you and they will be best friends after you too. You’re starting to sound like Flash,” Ned giggled while Peter shot him a glare, quietening him for a moment. “Sorry, but you should’ve come to this revelation back in June. Things would’ve been a lot easier.”
You had forgotten that they didn’t know you were there, and MJ was about to hear that you had been in love with her fling for a while and didn’t tell her. Again, you tried to get her to leave to spare her from hearing any more, but her feet remained planted. She was not going anywhere and if she wasn’t, you weren’t either. So, you stayed and listened beside her.
“What do you mean by that?” Peter quizzed and Ned’s eyes widened, realizing that he said too much. He let out a sigh before giving in and telling him.
“Y/n’s... kinda been in love with you since before the summer. I don’t know how much before, but she liked you when we were planning how to get MJ to fall in love with you during the Europe trip. I saw her tear up once and then I found out.”
MJ’s hand dropped from your own, her face reading shock and hurt when you looked at her. You felt like shit and you hadn’t really done anything wrong. Maybe you should have told her that you used to have a crush on Peter, but it seemed irrelevant since they were closer, and you never stood a chance so why add drama when it wasn’t needed? She took a couple of steps back before walking to leave the library, leaving you to follow.
“MJ, wait,” you called after her, but she was long gone. Tears filled your eyes as you watched your best friend storm away through the hall where you stood from the library’s entrance. You could have followed her further, but you knew MJ and you knew she’d rather be alone right now.
“Y/n...” you heard the faint voice of Peter whisper from behind you, a warm hand clasping over your shoulder as you turned to look at his freckled face. Under any other circumstances, you would’ve been thrilled to hear that Peter had liked you back, but your best friend’s heart was broken by him because of you as well and you just wanted it all to be fixed.
“You really had to tell him. I promised you I’d be okay if you didn’t tell him,” you spoke to Ned, choosing to ignore Peter’s presence in front of you for the moment.
“I’m sorry. It slipped and I couldn’t get out of it. I didn’t know you guys were right there.” He was right. It was not completely his fault. You two were invading on their privacy. You can’t help what you hear.
“Y/n,” Peter repeated, and your tear-brimmed eyes snapped to his honey brown ones.
“What?” You did not mean to come off angry, but you were aggravated to say the least.
“Are you okay?” he asked genuinely. The softness of his voice and eyes were pulling you in but you were so irritated with him at the same time.
“No,” you whispered, breaking your promise to Ned as he did to you. Peter stepped forward to hug you but your hand on his chest stopped him. “You can’t comfort me anymore. Do you realize what you have done? You have broken MJ’s heart, a heart I didn’t know was capable of breaking. If she sees us hugging, that will just drive the knife in deeper. You hurt me by dragging me into the middle of all this and because I didn’t tell her that I liked you, she probably hates me too.”
Saying that last little bit broke your heart. Your best friend probably hated you. Your crush liked you back, but you could not be with him which was more infuriating than longing for him from afar. You felt angry, upset, and exposed as your biggest secret was out. All the emotions whirled within you and you did let a few tears fall.
“Y/n, I’m sorry. This was not my intention nor how I wanted this to go at all. I’m so sorry,” he softly spoke before trying to hug you again as he desperately wanted to comfort you. He hated to see you upset. This time, you let him. You let your arms circle his waist and your head cry into his chest. You let him wrap his arms around your neck and press his lips to your head, something he had always done when trying to calm you down. You felt like you would have no friends left if you pushed Peter away so why do it? The reason why you should have spoke up and broke you two apart in an instant.
“Wow,” she muttered, saddened brown eyes dancing between you and Peter. “I came back because I wanted to talk this out before I stayed in my room and was left alone in my head, but you know what? I don’t really feel like talking anymore.”
“No! MJ, wait! Please!” you tried to stop her but her cold eyes and raised hand warned you to give it a rest.
“I’ll let you know when I’m ready to talk but until then leave me the hell alone.” And with that, her head of unruly brown crinkles and curls left the building of Midtown for the weekend.
The interaction made you feel even worse as a sob bubbled up your throat. You had never been like this with MJ, and you were scared you were going to lose her forever. Your hand flew to your mouth in an attempt to muffle the sound of you crying and Peter was quick to wrap his arms around you again, but now, you shoved him away.
“No, Peter! Can’t you see what this has done? We can’t be together. I don’t want to see you until MJ and I are on good terms and maybe not even then. I just...” you backed away towards the door, “I need to be alone. Ned, I’ll text you later.”
Ned nodded at you with a sad smile and held his pinky up toward you, his silent way of asking if you were okay similar to the promise you two had made months ago. While the action caused your lips to turn upwards only slightly, you shook your head to answer the question. He understood and he and Peter both watched you leave as well.
“Well, I guess I was wrong. You can come between their friendship,” Ned spoke up, trying to lighten the mood with a joke that was way too soon for Peter to enjoy if he ever would.
“Ned, not now. I’ve accidentally broken two girls’ hearts and they both happened to be my best friends. I feel like shit,” he groaned, rubbing a frustrated hand down his face. “I’m just gonna go on patrol to distract myself and then swing home.”
“Okay well, I’m gonna bring this to y/n and check on her before going home. I’d check on MJ too, but she scares me so I’ll just text or call her later,” Ned chuckled while holding up a copy of The Book Thief, the exact book you were hunting prior to the whole fiasco. “But you need to figure out what to do. You can’t ruin their friendship. I understand if they don’t want to be friends with us, but you can’t tear them apart.”
“I know, I know. I really fucked up,” Peter huffed while stuffing his hands into his pockets. “I don’t know what I’m gonna do but I’m going to fix this.”
“You better,” Ned stated before he left the school himself. Now all of his friends had left and were angry with him in different ways. He crushed MJ’s heart and then he crushed yours even more by unintentionally making your best friend hate you. Ned was more disappointed than angry, and he felt bad himself for spilling your secret. This whole thing was a huge mess that Peter had to fix to bring his favorite people back together and he was beginning to wish he had just kept his mouth shut in the first place.
Chapter Seventeen
As you stood outside gate C14, you tightened your grip on Sunny’s leash. With a wagging tail and shining eyes, she pulled in every direction, determined to greet every passing traveler.
“Hey,” you whispered, “I know you’re excited but be good before they kick us both out.” You weren’t exactly sure if she was supposed to be there but sometimes it was better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission. She made a displeased whining noise as she sat down next to you. “Don’t you want to see Javi?” Her ears perked up at the familiar name. “I thought so.”
You glanced back at the gate through the crowd of people. There was still no sign of any disembarking passengers. You took a deep breath and tamped down your own excitement, deciding to crouch down next to Sunny and pet her rather than stare at the empty gate. Your affectionate touch calmed the both of you.
So when she yipped again, you knew exactly why.
Glancing up, you found Javier scanning the crowd and his eyes were drawn to Sunny’s bark. A grin broke out on his face that certainly matched yours.
The two of you met somewhere in the middle. You don’t even remember making the conscious decision to move toward him. It was just instinctual. Like the way you threw your arms around Javier’s neck and his wound around your waist as your lips met in one long deep kiss that left you weak in the knees. You leaned into him, knowing he’d keep you steady, and savored the way he hummed in pleasure against your lips.
“Hi,” Javier breathed as he rested his forehead against yours. You traced the curve of his smile with the pad of your thumb as you cupped his cheek. It was one of those perfect ones that crinkled the corners of his eyes and left him looking years younger. And so damn happy.
“Hi,” you echoed, unsure if you could find another word in that moment. But maybe you didn’t need to say anything else. It was enough just to feel his arms around you again.
“I missed this,” he murmured. “I missed you.”
“I missed you too, Javi.” Your eyes fell as you took him in. Long-sleeved plaid shirt tucked into his well-fitting dark wash jeans and paired with his signature boots. You ran your hands over the soft material covering his chest. “You didn’t have to come back,” you whispered.
“I wanted to.”
“What about your dad?”
“He has plenty of family to spend the night with. He was fine with me leaving early.”
“You’re sure?”
“Yeah,” he answered, rolling his eyes. “When he found out you were spending New Year’s Eve alone, he smacked me upside the head and told me to get on the next plane to LA.” You made a surprised noise that quickly turned into giggles. “Don’t laugh at that. That’s not funny,” he said with a smile of his own.
You laced your fingers with his and kissed the back of his hand, trying to hide your grin. “It is, actually.” Your smile fell. “Still, you didn’t have to come back just for me.”
“Yes, I did. I wouldn’t have been happy knowing you were alone. I’m right where I want to be.” His grin widened and you felt a quiet laugh in his chest. “I don’t think you were the only one who missed me.” You followed his eyes to find Sunny, tongue out and tail wagging, with two paws on Javier’s hip as she vied for his attention. He let go of you only to kneel down to greet her. “Si, si, te extrañé,” he shushed as he tried to calm the excited dog. Your heart soared as he planted a kiss on the top of her head.
“Should we stop by baggage claim?” you asked.
“Nope.” He stood and swung a worn leather duffle over his shoulder. “Let’s go home.”
You tried not to read much into his turn of phrase as he slung an arm around your shoulders and guided you out of the busy terminal. “So,” you decided to prod as you waited at the crosswalk leading to the parking garage, “you told your dad about me?”
“Well, he figured it out.” He continued only at your confused expression. “He said I was happy.”
You kissed him. “I’m happy too,” you said, slipping a hand in his back pocket and squeezing his ass through his denim jeans. That earned you a wolfish grin that brought out that lone dimple just for you.
… . …
“It looks like 1985 in here,” you commented as soon as Javier could even set his duffle and your overpacked tote on the kitchen counter and flick on the lights. “Well, at least the parts you’ve unboxed.”
“Didn’t want to get too settled.” You peered over your shoulder at him with a bit of a scowl. All he could offer in response was a shrug as he slid your coat off your shoulders and hung it next to his. “I didn’t know if I would last the first week of classes let alone the first month.”
“You absolutely did. You survived the whole fall quarter.”
“Only because of you.”
Two fingers gripped his chin and turned his face toward yours. Your eyes locked onto his. “You’ve got to start giving yourself some credit, Javier. You’re a damn good professor. Whether you like it or not.”
“Wouldn’t you rather inspect what I have decorated?” he asked, placing two hands on your hips and spinning you around. “I know you’re dying to.”
“Maybe a little,” you admitted with a light laugh. With a firm hand on the small of your back as he pushed you further into the apartment. “Bedroom and bathroom are that way,” he said, pointing down the dark hall.
You gestured to the closed door on the opposite side of the living room. “What’s that room?”
“Empty spare bedroom.”
“God, I hate you. You have a gorgeous two-bedroom apartment in Brentwood, and you don’t even appreciate it. An empty room, boxes still unopened. Why don’t we ever come here? Your place is so much better than mine.”
“It’s fucking depressing,” he scoffed.
“I could help you make it feel like home.” You meant that innocently. He could hear it in your tone. You were probably only referring to adding a few throw pillows or candles or something like that, but already just having you there felt different. He’d thought he was going back home to Texas, but the truth was he felt more at home now just by being with you. “Yeah, I think you could.” You might’ve responded, but something caught your attention.
Almost reverently, you picked up a framed photograph off the lone bookshelf in his living room. “Your mother?” you asked quietly. He didn’t have to look at the photo to know which one you were drawn to.
“Yes,” he answered as he moved to stand behind you. Wrapping his arms around your shoulders, he pulled you back against his chest so he could peer down at the black and white photo in your hands. He was maybe five. Just a gangly boy with limbs too long for his own good and a cast on one arm from when he’d fallen off his new bike. That younger version of him sat his mother’s lap in front of a birthday cake lit with thirty-some odd candles. Much like the way he held you in that moment, his father stood behind the pair with his arms around his wife. She wore a dazzling smile that his aunts swore he inherited from her. If he remembered correctly, his father was behind the camera, muttering something that made them all laugh at the time.
“She was beautiful,” you commented. Lost for words, Javier pressed a kiss to your temple. But the mood clearly shifted. “And you were adorable.” Your eyes narrowed as you looked back at him. “What do you think happened?”
Javier grinned at your dig. “She would’ve liked you.”
You reached for the only other framed photograph. A more recent shot of Javier and an equally mustachioed blond man sitting together at an open-air bar, both looking unusually relaxed and happy with a beer in one and their arms around each other’s shoulders. One of the rare moments like that in Colombia. “This must be Steve,” you observed.
“His wife sent me that as a housewarming gift.”
“That’s so nice of her. You need something to cheer this place up.” Still clutching the photo, you turned in his arms. “Do you– I don’t know if I’ll ever get to meet them, but do you think they would like me?”
He almost laughed at your question. It was genuine on your part but so absurdly unnecessary. “Mi compañera,” he murmured as he pressed his lips to yours, “they already do. They were surprised though.”
“Do I want to know why?” you smirked. He had a feeling you already had some inclination as to why that might’ve surprised his closest friends.
“No,” Javier laughed. He watched you as you smiled at the photo, tracing a fingertip along the image of him. A strange feeling gripped his chest. It was as if you were trying to know that version of him. “You never talk about it. I know you don’t like when others ask you about your time in Colombia, but you never even mention anything that happened down there to me.”
“You don’t want to know about any of that.”
“Why not?”
Because you won’t like me, his traitorous brain supplied. He let you go and joined Sunny on the couch. “Want me to put on the Times Square thing?” he asked instead.
“Yeah sure. I don’t mind either way,” you responded lightly. He cringed inwardly at how habituated you were to him deflecting your questions. Shaking his head at himself, he dug the remote out from between two of the leather couch cushions and switched on the television despite having no intention to watch.
A moment later you joined him on the couch, dropping down next to him unceremoniously as you draped an arm around him. “Don’t mope,” you compelled with a kiss on his cheek. He turned to you with a raised brow. “And don’t look at me like that.”
Javier held your gaze for a long time, entranced by the soft look in your eyes and the way your fingers played with the ends of his hair at the nape of his neck. That seemed to bring him back to the present moment. “How does pizza sound?” he asked instead of a reply.
As expected, you smiled and nodded happily.
… . …
Much like your own at home, Javier’s kitchen table was covered with stacks of books, papers, and folders. Rather than clearing it off, the two of you sat on the floor around his coffee table eating pizza slices straight from the box. With the television muted in the background, you talked quietly, mostly recounting the little things that had happened while you were apart. You asked him more questions about his family, and he seemed keen to answer. You’d learned to savor every bit of himself that he elected to share with you.
After dinner, you wandered over to the unsurprisingly well-stocked bar cart, fingers dancing over the crystal glasses and bottles of whiskey and tequila as you contemplated pouring a couple of drinks. Until you noticed something amongst the mess on his kitchen table.
You picked up a book with dozens of sticky notes peeking out of it and flipped through the pages.
Talk about this in lecture.
Assign this chapter next quarter.
Fuck. She’s brilliant.
The notes went on for pages and pages. When you finally lifted your head, finding him across the room through watery eyes, Javier looked like a boy caught red handed. His wide brown eyes locked on to you as he gauged your reaction. “You’re reading my book?” you asked, voice barely more than a whisper.
He nodded quietly. “I finished it. It’s amazing.”
“Ja– Javi.” You attempted to speak but his name was just a broken sob.
He was on his feet in an instant. With a hand on either arm, he attempted to soothe you. “Don’t cry.”
“I’m not crying,” you insisted as you roughly wiped at your cheek with the back of your hand.
“Honey,” he chided as he pulled your hand away and replaced it with his own, cupping your cheek and wiping your errant tears with his thumb. “Why does that upset you?”
“I’m not upset.”
“You’re crying.” He would think that. He’d never seen you cry before. You’d cried from laughing at something he’d said on more than one occasion. There were a few tears once when you were frustrated. But nothing like this.
“That– that doesn’t mean I’m upset. It’s just– That’s–” you tried to collect yourself as you fisted the front of his shirt with one hand and pulled him closer. You took a deep breath and met his gaze. “That’s the most romantic thing anyone’s ever done for me.”
The scrunched up look on his face was almost comical, and you would’ve laughed any other time. “That is?” he asked, dumbfounded. Before he could say anything else, you slotted your mouth with his, kissing him with everything you had. “Of course I read your book,” he assured you, kissing you over and over again. Your body practically melted against his. “You’re fucking amazing, mi compañera” His hands moved to your face, wiping away the tears. “Are you sure you’re okay? You’re... you’re crying again. What’s wrong?”
“I think I–” You stopped yourself. Or rather the words threatened to choke you, so you swallowed them down and hid them away. Instead, you caressed his face as you looked at him through half-lidded eyes. “I need you.”
Javier hesitated, watching you for a moment longer, eyes smoldering as they bored into your soul, before his mouth met yours with renewed determination.
You didn’t even bother looking around Javier’s bedroom as the two of you burst through the door. The two of you were a mess of limbs desperately trying to strip the other of their clothes. He walked you back toward the bed until your calves hit the frame.
“Why are you still holding this?” he asked, prying the book out of your hand and tossing it on his nightstand. He lifted your thick knit sweater off your body and over your head with ease and his hands quickly found the button of your black denim jeans while you worked on his shirt buttons.
As soon as your clothes had fallen aside, he laid you back in his bed, letting you rest against the pillows as he eagerly kissed a frenzied path down your body.
“Javi, wait.” He froze above you with concern in his eyes “Please be gentle with me,” you asked softly.
The implication was clear. And it weighed heavily between you.
Javier nodded once, almost imperceptibly, and you relinquished yourself to him. He changed course, and his lips found yours once more. While he kissed you, his fingers gently prodded you, stretching you out and readying your body for him. You whimpered against hip lips, wanting more than anything to feel him inside you.
“Shh, baby,” he shushed you huskily, intertwining your fingers in a tender gesture, “I’ve got you now.” You spread your legs wider, aching for him. Only him. And mercifully, he lined himself at your entrance, dripping with your desire, and slowly thrust forward, filling you to the hilt and stealing the air from your lungs.
As he moved inside you, every kiss, every touch seared your skin with invisible brands that would mark you forever as belonging to Javier. And you let him.
Neither of you said much of anything, preferring to simply breath each other in. You let the moans and mewls falling from your lips fill the room as your bodies rejoined and relearned each other. Hand in hand and warm skin on warm skin.
Until a wave of euphoria pulled you asunder and you came hard and shaking beneath him.
“You’re so beautiful. So fucking beautiful.” You only heard his murmurs of praise as you broke the surface and came up for air. He kissed away the teardrops streaking your cheeks. You tried weakly to apologize for crying again. “It’s okay,” he assured you, “I feel it too.”
You gaped at him as you watched him move above you, still buried deep inside you, chest heaving and some unspoken emotion drowning his eyes. You wanted him to feel everything that you did in that moment. Wanted to make him to feel the same sticky sweet pleasure
With little resistance, you pushed Javier onto his back and straddled his hips. He looked divine beneath you. His hands reverently caressed your back as you settled on top of him before snaking around your body to hold you tightly against him. You pressed your forehead to his as you rolled your hips, sliding up and down his cock and coating him with your creamy pussy.
Only when his chest hallowed with a broken, desperate groan did you finally take pity and sink down on him. You caught his sharp exhale with your lips. You focused on kissing him, pouring all your affection into him, and he slowly rocked up into you. It was unrushed and unhurried, as if the two of you had all the time in the world. Maybe you did.
“I need you to cum with me. Right now.” His fingers found your clit, coaxing a second climax from you.
“Let go for me,” you whispered against his ear.
Javier shattered beautifully under your touch.
… . …
Javier pulled back the bedsheets for you as you slipped back into bed next to him after spending way too long in a steaming hot shower together. “Did you bring these for me?” he asked, fingering the fabric of your satin sleep shorts with a lopsided grin. Dozens of little embroidered dogs dotted the fabric.
“Yes,” you chirped. “They always seem to make you smile.”
He shook his head at you. “No, honey, you make me smile.”
When he said things like that, he took the breath right out of your lungs. The rest of the world faded away and nothing else mattered. It was only the two. It was then that you noticed the time on the clock behind him. Time hadn’t stopped after all. In fact, it was 12:01 on the dot.
“Happy New Year, Javi,” you said with a smile. “I think this is going to be a really good year.”
“I do too,” he agreed. He cupped your cheek and guided your lips to his for a midnight kiss. “Happy New Year, baby. Now c’mere.”
You laughed as Sunny responded to his command. She seemed to appear from nowhere only to hop up on the bed and lay half on top of him with her head on his chest. “Yeah, you too,” he smiled, scratching behind her ears. You indulged for a moment, hoping you could commit the scene to memory. But Javier looked like he was on the verge of sleep, so you switched off the small lamp and happily curled up next to him. He draped an arm across your waist as you looked up at him. “I fucking missed my girls,” he mumbled before drifting off into a dream. You couldn’t help but smile to yourself as you watched him in the faint moonlight.
You weren’t sure if it was the holiday season or that magical stroke of midnight, but as you gazed up at him, you realized you didn’t just want Javier to be your yesterday, today or tomorrow. You wanted him to be your whole future. You wanted to spend your whole life with him because…
Your heart belonged to Javier Peña. You loved him. Truly, deeply loved him.
That thought didn’t scare you as much as you thought it would.
... . ...
Thank you for reading!
Tea for 3
Erwin x Levi x gn!Reader Headcanons
Scenario: the three of you decide to open up a tea shop together
Warnings: none!
Genre: fluff! Polyamory
Universe: Modern AU!
A/N: it’s a little short, but it’s definitely sweet. These headcanons have been on my mind a LOT and I just had to write them down. I feel like I mostly write polyamory stuff (even my private work is like 70% polyamory) but I am working on monogamous relationship stories as we speak! Should I keep writing polyamory? 🤔
Tumblr media
First of all, it was Levi’s idea to open up a tea shop, even if he doesn’t want to admit it. He had first brought it up out of curiosity to see what you or Erwin thought. It wasn’t brought up again till Erwin found a little shop that was up for sale, to which Levi pretended not to be excited; in truth, if Levi was better at expressing himself he would have been jumping up and down with pure happiness.
Levi will probably need some convincing to actually go for this opportunity. I can see him being a little insecure as to whether he deserves such a chance at this; so hearing the two of you, the people he loves most, give him so much affection and encouragement he couldn’t refuse.
You three spend long nights together designing the interior and exterior of the tea shop; going for a sleek botanical look with a hint of rustic charm.
You were the creative of the three, designing the logo and even the menu; Erwin would be like 😧 being super impressed with your talents. He is very good with his hands in the DIY department, but can barely draw a stick figure!
You decide to call the tea shop Ackerman & Co. (as much as Levi tried to argue against it, it is of course his dream and thought it would be a lovely gesture of yours and Erwin’s love towards him). Needless to say, Levi loved your reasoning and eventually accepted it.
The three of you visiting the store before buying it, Erwin ever so vigilant with his questions. From “Is there a persistent mould problem” to “are the neighbours noisy?”
Luckily it seems things are perfect, the store is located just off the high streets but close enough to attract some wandering customers. A little detail I would like to add is that the store is close to a cathedral and one of Levi’s favourite things to do (especially at night) is to open a window and listen out to the bell chimes.
“Is it big enough for your bed?” The answer to that is yes! As you insisted that the three of you share a King size bed (although Levi doesn’t sleep that often as it is, he still enjoys the company) you worry that the living space may not be enough. Don’t worry, Erwin sized out the place; he measured the entire flat above the shop out with only a measuring tape.
You ask Miche, Hange and Moblit for help when it comes to building up the tea shop! From painting to decorating, Hange goes a little overboard with the plants, but it only adds to the charm. “Who the hell is going to water all of these?” Levi groaned, “don’t worry love, I will” you reassure him, he will of course make you keep a diary so you can keep an eye out and record watering times!
Erwin insists on adding a bookshelf into the shop; this means that customers can read whilst they are there, even setting up a weekly book club! You also suggest keeping a spot out for a book exchange, keeping an on-going flow of new content for the regular customers.
Before you officially open the shop, Kutchel (Levi’s mum) visits with a gift; it is a large kettle decorated with a giant green bow to ‘baptise’ the place (also came with a bouquet of flowers because she is a sweetheart). “I am so proud of you baby”
Levi won’t cry, but he’ll cry
Let me just say, Kutchel adores the two of you and is so proud and glad that Levi has people in his life who adore him as much as his mother does (although initially explaining polyamory to her was a challenge, she just didn’t understand at first! But she supports and loves you once she grasped the concept!)
The first day of opening was BUSY. Little did you three know, but Hange had invited EVERYONE they knew and even going up to people in the streets to come to the opening.
The most confident was Erwin, he was the main spokesperson in announcing your new place. Levi barely spoke, mostly to contain himself from just crying out of happiness. So to keep his strength, he will hold onto your hand all night, giving it tender squeezes if he started to feel overwhelmed.
Levi would be the manager, mainly working on the teas and coffee orders, Erwin is most definitely the baker, making muffins and cookies and all sorts! You were the waiter/waitress but you also had your hand in baking and/or tea making when it was needed!
You put up a message board in the main room so that customers and/or friends and family can leave post-it-notes on the board. Most of the notes you get are compliments of the establishment, but you will get the occasional “I love Erwin/Levi/Y/N” notes from your loved ones; those notes you keep up forever. - if ever you get any missing cat posters, Levi will make it his mission to look for said cat.
Levi insists on getting WIFI, but Erwin annoyingly will point out the large bookcase, stating that books are enough. He does eventually give in, but will purposefully set the password annoyingly long and complicated for the sake of being petty. The password would look something like L1v1nYNrmYl0vr$
You notice that Levi spends more time in bed with you three! He has definitely settled down a lot more, feeling so much joy that his dream came to light. You and Erwin of course enjoy the extra person to cuddle in bed.
Frequent visits from your friends, Hange will bring their laptop into the cafe to finish their thesis or other scientific reports; they would quite literally spend all day there and will sleep on the sofa if they could get away with it. - you do at least have a spare bedroom so if Hange stays too late, they have a place to sleep.
Levi putting out cat food for the local strays, a cute little quirk you only started noticing when a dozen cats were lined up outside the back entrance of the store.
The tea shop will of course be successful, so Levi decides to experiment and start his own line of teas. Starting off with the basic breakfast and earl greys and then into the fruity and herbal teas. Once he got his customers approval and satisfaction, he then sells the tea bags (and loose tea leaves) to customers to take home. He calls his tea ‘Teas of Freedom’ (like wings of freedom lmao) which become very popular.
GLASS TEAPOTS; you get to see the water change into beautiful colours once the teas infuse. The most popular being the jasmine tea where the flower blooms when the hot water is applied; Erwin’s face lights up EVERY TIME Levi prepares this kind of tea.
Can you imagine Levi’s face when someone comes in and asks for a Starbuck’s like order, he would be like “HUH???” But don’t worry, you step in and take the order effortlessly; Levi is a tea man, coffee is somewhat a foreign concept to him.
On quiet days, Erwin will come up behind you and wrap his arms around your waist, whispering sweet nothing into your ear and rocks you side to side. This man is so in love with you. He does this to Levi but not as often...mostly because even on not so busy days Levi is busy.
Imagine catching quick little kisses whilst its busy, hugging is one thing but a quick kiss on the cheek is honestly so cute; Levi would 100% get distracted and a lot more clumsy if you plant a forehead kiss on him whilst he’s preparing tea.
EEEEP I hope you enjoyed it!! I love EURI as it is, but being a x reader it meant I got an excuse to write them!
Remus was tired.
Madam Pomfrey had told him it would be a good idea to stay in the hospital wing at least one more night, to assure he get the rest he so desperately needed. Despite loving and caring about Madam Pomfrey, Remus was beginning to become claustrophobic in the tiny bed he was ridden to whilst staying there. He asked kindly, quietly, if she would be so kind as to give him the potions he should need and let him go to his own bed. She had made him promise to come to her immediately if anything were to happen, and with a less than convincing smile and a sarcastically cheery “Of course I’d come to you Pomfrey, you’re only the best,” she let him go.
The walk to his dorm was slow. He was having no physical pain, apart from the dulled ache in his bones, yet he felt like he weighed a thousand pounds, and his bag was a thousand more. He trudged through the hall, hoping no one was in the dorm right now. It was unlikely, at almost noon on a Saturday he doubted his friends would be inside their room still. Remus loved his friends, more than he loved most things, but the thought of seeing them now was nerve wracking. He wasn’t in the right mindset to listen to them talk about a new prank plan, or a new sneaking out plan, or how lovely Lily’s eyes are, or how good their last shag was. Remus loved his friends, but he needed quiet. He needed a good book, a chocolate bar and a cozy sweater.
The dorm was empty when he got there. He felt guilty for feeling relieved, for feeling part of the weight leave his shoulders because his friends were absent, but he also knew they would understand. They were good people, good friends who cared about him and his problems. Remus had been working on his guilt, telling himself that these people caring about him was a good thing that he shouldn’t feel bad about putting them through the things he does, that they do it because they love him and whatever issues he comes with. He hadn’t believed it yet, but he kept saying it.
He flopped face down onto his bed, dropping his bag to the floor and wincing when he remembered his book was in there. His bed felt nice compared to the cot in the hospital wing, a soft knit blanket James’ mom made him for christmas and cozy pillows she bought all the boys for their birthdays. Remus loved James’ mom, loved how she included him in their family events, loved how after Sirius moved in with the Potter’s she called Remus her son too. He had spent lots of holidays with them, sleeping in a guest room that just happened to have photos of all of Remus’ friends and posters of music he liked, a seemingly homemade bookshelf with James and Sirius’ initials carved in it. Sirius said when he first moved into the Potter’s his room was magically decorated too, and that Remus shouldn’t think too hard about how or why it happened. He knew it was his friends, brothers seemed like more of an appropriate title at this point, but he didn’t say anything for their sake. It was a sweet gesture, it made Remus cry a bit the first summer he spent there, so he let them have it.
Getting out of bed was a tough feat, but he needed a shower. He opened his trunk, grabbed his biggest sweater and favorite sweats, and headed for the shower. Remus loved showering. It was one of his favorite parts of the day. The warmth, the scent of his soap flooding the entire room, the steam dulling his senses down. It was calming, never failed to relieve his shoulders of some of what they were carrying. He relished the moments alone, relished in the sound of the water hitting the tile, the water hitting his skin, and even though he loved his friends, he relished the privacy. He didn’t get much of that anymore.
He towel dried his hair, making it messier than usual. He waited to put his sweater on, walking around in just his sweats, waiting for his skin to lose it’s pink hue from the heat of the water. He laid back onto his bed, facing the ceiling this time, and made an extensive to do list in his head. He missed 2 days of school because of the full moon, and getting caught up was something he wanted to do before laying in bed and reading all day like he planned. He also decided he should probably eat something of sustenance, other than chocolate bars and the terrible oatmeal Pomfrey served for breakfast. A trip to the kitchens was due, perhaps before studying so he could get some brain food. He also wanted to ask Professor McGonnagal about changing his prefect rounds. Telling third years to stop snogging in the halls after curfew gets tiring after a while. When he had his plan, he stood up off the bed. He put his sweater on and put his hands through his hair a few times to tame the mess. He picked his bag up, taking out some things and putting in some others. He decided he would do homework at his desk in the room, go and get some food and come right back. Nodding to himself and his plan, he put his shoes on and left the dorm.
He had a bit more of a light step after his shower, feeling as if he washed most of his stress off. The trip to the kitchens was routine at this point. Sneaking in was muscle memory, after doing it for so long. It was a little difficult without James’ cloak, but he survived just fine. He made himself toast, spreading jam across the bread, and looked through the cabinets for some hot chocolate. He sat on the counter to eat, criss cross, right next to the sink. He thought about the elves that worked in the kitchen, how much they did. The ones who cleaned Hogwarts too, they did a lot for him, probably more than he was even aware of. It was a different kind of affection, unknown, prescribed almost. It was nice to think about.
He stopped at the library on his way back to his room, wanting to get an extra book as a source for his herbology essay. He stopped to talk to Madam Pince, asked her about a book he had heard Sirius talk about, and went to find it and his herbology book. He found them quite quickly, Remus has come to know the library like the back of his hand. He put them both in his bag after checking out, and went to head back to his dorm, and then he heard James and some friends yelling across the hall. A guilt filled Remus again, he loved James, loved him like family, but he didn’t feel like he could handle the attention, the loud voices. As James got closer, Remus felt stuck again. The claustrophobic feeling that caused him to beg Pomfrey to let him leave the hospital wing a day early. He walked quietly, tiptoed across the hall, and when he was sure he had gone unseen he went the opposite direction of the Gryffindor dorms.
He ended up at the Ravenclaw tower door. His feet taking him here was inevitable really. He usually ended up here on a rough day. Today wasn’t too bad, he’d be the first to admit. It wasn’t great though.
“What has hands, but cannot hold anything?” Out of all the things Remus loved about the Ravenclaw tower, the Eagle spouting riddles at him when he just wants in is not one of them. He shifted his weight between his legs, picked at his nails for a minute, his bottom lip next. Terrible anxious habits that he cannot help, he looked at his watch for the time. Half past two.
“A clock.” The door opened slowly, revealing the Ravenclaw common room to him slowly. Bookshelves to the ceiling, constellations on the ceiling, soft piano music playing on a charmed record player, Remus loved it here. He usually would relish longer, stare at the stars, browse the books, try to figure out what song is playing, but he was still breathing shallow from his near death encounter with James across the hall. He wrung his hands, cracking his knuckles and twisting his fingertips as he walked up the staircase to the girls dorms. The charm for the Ravenclaw girls dorm stairs fell quickly from his lips, almost half way up by the time he completed it. He knew the way to the head girl's room by heart, down the hall straight until the last left door. He stood there for a moment, toe to wood, hand itching to knock.
Remus suddenly felt insecure. He knew she would be happy to see him, her smile would be just as soft as he needs and she would say the perfect words, just like she always did. When he finally knocked the door opened very quickly, opening to a shy smile, and the top of a head.
“I’ve been waiting for you.” Her smile was small, and her voice was barely above a whisper. She had a warmth about her, the way she looked at him, it warmed up his whole body. She opened the door wide enough for him to step in and shut it right behind him. She was wearing an old t-shirt, some band that her cousin liked and grew out of, blue pajama shorts, and socks with little rabbits all over them that Sirius bought her for christmas last year when she visited the Potter’s. Her hair was down, messy as if she were laying on it, and her glasses were crooked. She looked pretty, in a realistic way. The kind of pretty that makes Remus want to make her a cup of hot chocolate, lay in her bed, and stare at her for hours.
“Pomfrey wrote me a note that you left early, ‘was waiting for you t’come see me.” Remus stared at her, her soft smile making his resolve break easily. This always happened, he went to her broken and she was perfect and helped him fix himself. She always knew just what to say, as if she could read his mind. He wouldn’t be surprised if she could.
“Jus’ felt bad today, ‘s all bun.” His voice was quieter than he intended. He wanted to tell her everything, the claustrophobia he had been feeling all day, the dread that swallowed him when he saw James. He wanted to tell her he was sorry for this becoming a routine, showing up to her dorm needing her glue to put him back together. Remus swallowed, bouncing on the heels of his feet, and blew air out of his cheeks. “I ate though, made some toast, and I took my potion from Pomfrey before I showered, so I don’t hurt.” He smiled softly as he said it. Full moons were hard, and Remus often neglected to take care of himself after them. Telling her he had made a point to care for himself meant everything.
“‘S a good start isn’t it? Maybe we could read a bit? Got that book you wanted me to read, thought maybe you’d want to read it with me?” There were few good things in Remus’ life. He had been dealt a poor hand from an early age. But this, his girl, smiling at him so tenderly, made it all better. This made it all worth every ounce of pain he had ever felt.
“Can we cuddle, bunny? ‘M quite tired.” Remus pouted, looking at her with the absolute worst case of puppy dog eyes she had ever seen. She had to bite her lip to stifle her giggle, she got to love the most cutest boy in the whole world. (Y/N) grabbed Remus’ hands and pulled him to her bed. She made him sit down while she went to grab the book, and when she returned she noticed he had taken his sweater off. Remus always liked skin on skin contact, once Sirius had told him no matter how much his love language is quality time, it would always be squashed by his need for physical touch. For a while Sirius’ comment made Remus insecure, like he was clingy and annoying, overbearing. But after a long conversation (and a few tears as well) he learned that she loved him, loved holding and touching him, that it made her feel the same way it made him feel. Safe, connected, warm, and loved.
“Y’wanna lay on me, sweet boy?” Remus broke out of his daydream, nodding his head enthusiastically. She didn’t bother hiding her giggle this time, jumping onto the bed and patting her belly. Remus wrapped his arms around her waist, shoving his nose as deep into her shirt as physically possible. Her hands wound around his shoulders, rubbing his shoulder blades and mid back. The absolute bliss Remus felt was indescribable, if this was a dream he never wanted to wake up.
Remus sat up slightly, resting his chin on (Y/N)’s stomach, looking at her with complete adoration. He stared for a while, tracing her features with his eyes. Her hands were running through his hair now, scratching the back of his neck and softly pulling the strands on the top.  She ran her fingers across his cheeks lightly, mumbling, “‘S goin’ on in that big brain of yours, sweetness?”
“Do you believe in soulmates?”
He could see her brain working out an answer. Her eyes squinted very slightly, her mouth parted and she ran her fingers down his jaw as she spoke.
“I don’t know. I think it’s silly to think just one person is made perfect for you. I think Sirius was made perfect for you and James, but I don’t think you lads’ll get married. If there were to be soulmates there would be a thousand different kinds. You could be soulmates with the person you marry, and your best friend. And the bloke you sit across from on the train, and the waitress at your favorite restaurant. There is too much love in the world to just limit yourself to one person,” She paused, looking at Remus, dragging her finger down the bridge of his nose and booping the tip, “But if I had to choose one person to give all my love to, one person to be my every kind of soulmate, well I just think I’d pick you, Mr. Remus John.” She ended with a pretty smile, leaning down to kiss his forehead as she started to run her hands through his hair once more.
Remus was speechless. His eyes were teary, his mouth was opening and closing as his brain screamed at him to just say anything at all, but he couldn’t. All he could do was stare. He grabbed her wrists, holding them against his face, kissing them while he thought of exactly what to say. It was a long while until he said something, just looking into her eyes with such awe.
“I’d pick you, too, to give all my love to. Already have, honestly.” His face split into a wide, boyish grin. Bad day forgotten, he felt nothing but love and warmth in this moment. No guilt, no insecurity, no weight. If you asked him, he’d probably say he could fly with how light he felt now.
“Well I’d sure hope so, otherwise it would be quite awkward to have you shirtless in my bed.” Her teasing made him giggle in disbelief, how one person could be so perfect he would never understand. How that same person could love him, choose to care for him and show him love, was an anomaly to him.
“Now kiss me so I can read to you. I need you well rested as my soulmate.” Remus had never moved so fast. Jumping level to her face, kissing all over her cheeks and lips, making exaggerated kissing noises as she squirmed under him. Her giggles and squeals loudly filled the room, floating around Remus as his hands gripped her waist. He kissed each cheek one more time, leaning his head up to look in her eyes, which were closed from when she was laughing. This was another moment, where Remus forgot all things that weren’t in this space with him. The only thing in the world was her smiling under him, and him feeling utterly delighted to exist, and a few more kisses, too.
