if you cheat at mario kart one more time we're kicking you out of the polycule
this is so specific. why the fuck would their stance on video games mean anything? i wrote it down anyway
lupin:
has fun with ‘em but doesn’t really play too much. he’s busy! got places to be! but he doesn’t often say no if offered, and probably knows the most pop culture about them compared to the others. like he knows who kiryu is. he knows cloud.
he loves puzzles. especially like space distribution related ones like tetris and sliding blocks and shit, but really he’ll play anything if someone’s sold him on it enough. he doesn’t really care a lot about adventure, actiony types cuz he can just. go outside and do that. unless it’s absolutely batshit insane enough like. idk bayonetta. can’t imagine lupin the third would have an ulterior motive for liking bayonetta!!
does he actually cheat at mario kart: Yes. enough said there but he still gets 2nd place somehow?
jigen:
“i’m too old for that” this guy had a ds lite in 2009 don’t listen to him. of course he mostly had the boring shit and it was really more of a novelty to him than anything but still. it was the silver one.
console games are not really his thing. he could have a little fun at an ARCADE though and i’m not just saying that because of the like. ghostbusters shoot ‘em up cabinets. the ticket incentive would get to him. he knows it’s just junk but let’s be honest the idea of him actually working to “earn” some shit instead of just stealing it, and the earned bounty being a glow in the dark spider ring is priceless. and you know lupin LOVES to help with this
backseat gamer though. speaking of lupin, he fucking ALWAYS does this to him. “hey you missed that chest.” “that weapon is ass why didn’t you equip the one i told you too” “is this game that hard or are you just that friggin bad at this” until lupin snaps “OKAY DAMN! SHUT UP!” and puts in like wii music or whatever. he still insists he’s playing it wrong.
does he actually cheat at mario kart: usually sits out, so unless you call purposeful sabotage of “don’t fuck this up” talk directed at the ones actually playing REPEATEDLY through the lap cheating, nnnno. even when he does play he doesn’t really bother cheating. pretty content with 6th place and up. It's Just Not That Serious
fujiko:
depending on. whenever she was a kid/teenager since the timeline in this franchise gives me a headache, i’d bet solid money fujiko was bigger on them than you’d expect back in the day. definitely started that stupid fucking pokemon truck rumor in the day
now she’s kind of passive. it just doesn’t interest her like it used to, she’s got more intense passions than animal crossing can fulfill. she’s not like rolling her eyes and calling you a stupid child for offering to Game with her but she just kind of pauses. and shrugs. she might play in a group if it entertains her enough, but that’s more because of the human element than the game itself. she fucking LOVES competitive shit just because of the shit she can stir up with it. free comedy
does she actually cheat: fucking look me in the eyes and ask me that again. mains rosalina to look cute but also exploit the fact she’s the fastest heavyweight class. or was i think they nerfed her WHATEVER
goemon:
i know people are split on goemon’s actual level of technical ineptitude at times but i really think you could get this guy hooked on bejeweled or some shit. not candy crush. too gaudy.
have you ever (mostly directed at people with siblings) have you ever played a video game FOR someone else. like they tell you “let’s go in that cave” or “wait no choose this dialogue option” like it isn’t backseat gaming, it’s just them essentially using YOU as the controller? goemon does that.
you could maybe get him interested in a visual novel but he’d probably have an easier time just reading the damn thing
does he actually cheat: he’d get the hang of it easy, he can drive (ignoring that one gag and looking at like everything else HE CAN DRIVE) and it really is just like. pressing two buttons and turning the controller. he’s too focused in on the track to think about cheating, or even attempt to figure out HOW to cheat? he’s too invested in delfino square dude he can’t be fucked to save that bullet bill for when he’s in 3rd place.
zenigata:
he doesn’t insist he’s too OLD for it. but he doesn’t really have the patience for it exactly. and what’s REALLY lame about it is that he doesn’t even play like. the dull “serious type” games like windows 98 blackjack or whatever because, his reasoning, why wouldn’t he just. play it normally?? in real life?
definitely the kind of person who looks at you like you’ve grown a second head for explaining what a let’s player is, and even more so when you describe how insanely popular they are. because he really just does NOT understand why you wouldn’t just PLAY IT YOURSELF (the more you explain it the more stunned he is, just don't bother it'll only give you both a headache)
however. if you make ANYTHING a competition it’s a completely different story. freakishly high score in monkeyball. speedran through metal gear like it was nothing while still somewhat comprehending the plot. through the fire and flames on expert IT’S AMAZING WHAT THE RIGHT MOTIVATION CAN GET YOU WITH THIS GUY
does he actually cheat: he’ll deny for hours. it’s a semi-common lup gang truce, they’re at one of those bars that has a wii on the floor for some reason, and lupin is insisting, and you know EXACTLY who saves that bullet bill for when he’s somehow pushed his way to 1st place. arguments break out but he won so who cares! let’s gooooo team zeni!!!
wait should i have given all of them mario kart mains. speedrun for the others: peach (excuse to look at cute girl) or diddy kong (obvious joke), shy guy (specif black hood variant yes they bought the dlc), yoshi (inexplicably vibes with him) and uh. luigi? oh god i can’t think of zeni’s main. not bowser. easy “go karting with bowser” joke but no it's not bowser. MARIO. IT’S MARIO HE *WOULD* BE THAT GUY TO JUST FUCKING PICK MARIO

im in the mood for a type of game right now... something arcade-y and replayable, maybe like a puzzle type of game that doesn't require a ton of focus or attention that i can mayb play while listening to a tv show or something? Tetris woudl be the best example (i love tetris but im sick from playing it so much LOL). also bejeweled is a good example (also play so much of that game. bejeweled 3 is amazing) any recommendations are welcome in replies ⬇️⬇️⬇️

so yesterday I had dinner with a friend at our new Olive Garden and I know most ppl in this town complain ab it but it slappppped. We ate so much fkn salad, breadsticks, and pasta to our hearts content. There was an old man and he was celebrating his birthday at the table next to us. It was cute. Then I saw another friend before calling it a night. Today I was thinking we were going to celebrate Elias’s birthday so I didn’t make plans for anything but I spent the entire day home alone. Maybe they did celebrate just separately.
Oh but I guess today was very slow and sad. Forced myself to eat but this new guy that’s been talking to me out of nowhere has been more recently very involved? Made me a playlist and whatnot. Funny how life just goes in cycles. But anyway he asked me if I had eaten anything and it made me miss you. A question like that just makes me think of you funnily enough. I was distracting myself with Tetris and bejeweled all day. Then guy wanted to play it takes two bc I rejected a coffee date. He was very nice about it though. I told him very nicely that I’m not up to hanging and he suggested just gaming so that I agreed to.
Henry’s in town!! I’m so excited about that. I’m nervous to see him since it’s been so long. But we’re supposed to go see some Christmas lights and just catch up. I’m fr so happy. I can tell he’s already bored as fuck here. I could see why he says he couldn’t move back here because there’s a different type of sadness being in a place you grew up and it feeling so small. That’s how I feel about Irapuato. Depressed. I love the people, I love the area, but it kills me. Especially without mom.
My head is pounding tonight. I’ve been drinking so much water. Goodnight.

Bloggish rambles below 👇🏿
My relationships with games is so weird. I’m either completely consumed with them or I don’t care at all. I played WoW obsessively until Overwatch came out and since the switch to OW2 I’ve been steadily losing interest and spending more time with Warcraft again. There’s new heroes and no lore so they are generic and soulless. I need the PVE and animations because it’s just lost the luster that made the gameplay loop so enjoyable.
Fighting games, story game like South Park Stick of Truth, and indie horror like Devour sneak in there from time to time but mostly I just play two titles and third floating one. For awhile it was Apex Legends taking up that space semi-permanently but the last three Legends have been a snooze fest gameplay and lore wise. Except I fully thirst Catalysts gothicc perfection.
Idk I want to play more but my hands are pretty bad from all the computer time professionally, game playing, and instruments in my youth. My family has a history of bad hands and I knew it would happen so I look on those times fondly with no regret about not trying to preserve them. A full youth was well worth it even if I’m relegated to not being good at the games I love now due to limitations or even if I’m playing Bejeweled and point and click mysteries.
Tetris is an exception. I am a god at it. No one cares but that is my hill to die on. If the devil came down to Texas fuck the fiddle 1 v 1 me in Tetris lmao 🤣

In news of ameliorative video games applied to the situation (brain bad):
• started playing phone bejeweled again even though the app sucks so sosososo bad
• figured out how to somewhat fix my hilariously wack mob farm in minecraft so it at least functions a little bit (ie i can tell that everythings getting pushed out because like 4 zombies fall down at once, the yield is still p low but looting sword helps make up for it). Also i'm getting pretty good with a bow and arrow, and i'm planning another house. Also maybe learning how to do redstone to do some automatic harvesting or smth... also i need to explore the nether enough to find some blazes but it suuuuucks :/
• went back to tetris effect and hilariously ran through the entire journey mode in a single go until i was ONE LINE SHORT in the final stage lol. Also found some effect challenge modes that i like playing (i do not like the ones where you drop the bricks into premade spaces to all clear the board and i would like the random status effect mode if upside down mode was not part of it, it's simply not fun challenging. I like the ones with goals that you can pursue in a freeform way)
• powerwash sim is like the ultimate keep-your-hands-busy-while-listening-to-a-podcast game, i may catch up to gmfst sometime this decade lol. Also listening to threedom lately and it's nice to check back in with some ccs that i loved dearly but burnt out on and could not listen to for several years.

thoughts on video games.
i like video games in theory but the gaming industry has gotten to be such absolute horseshit that i literally can’t find it in myself to really care abt anything new that any major gamedev or corporation has made.  generally i like rpgs and anything that i can make a personalized experience but on the whole i don’t rlly play too many games that aren’t on a handheld
i think the most often played game on my switch is tetris lol

I think keebo would like stuff like puyo puyo tetris maybe tomodachi life? tile-matching puzzle games?
Kokichi maybe phone games like bejeweled he definitely uses tiktok alot he looks like he does I remember it said kokichi likes to play games on his wiki so he has to have a favorite genre maybe like ace attorney zero escape yttd omori doki doki literature club and ai the somnium files stuff like that
Like danganronpa lol
I think kokichi would absolutely love mystery games and rpg stuff, yeah - also gacha games, because they’re evil just like him <3
I think Kiibo would be into ‘calm’ games like animal crossing and puzzle ones, yeah, but I also think he’d be a huge fan of rhytm games, and that’s my hill to die on

Day 11 my fellow writers! What video games would your characters play?
Arthur: He would really enjoy something quiet and creative like Animal Crossing. Something to relax with after a stressful day.
Lancelot: completes this by being a hardcore Doom: Eternal fan. Also (secretly) really loves the really out-there dating sims like Animal Lover ((no bestiality I promise)) and Angels With Scaly Wings.
Guinevere: she would like pretty much any action/adventure styled RPG, but also has a special fondness for Dragon Age 2 and the Purple!Hawk character.
Tristan: Kingdom Hearts, and fun Dating Sims like Dream Daddy and Best Friends Forever.
Gawain: the Soulsborne games, but especially Bloodborne due to the weaponry.
Mordred: Professor Layton. Like his father, he enjoys low-stress games. He also has every version of Nintendogs.
Galahad: he likes the colours and story of Hades, but also appreciates the bonkers logical leaps of the Phoenix Wright franchise.
Merlin: current world-record holder for Tetris, but also likes Bejeweled.
Sir Kalitrab: he enjoys run-n-guns.

argumate replied to your post “second night back in Korea”
loving this meet the parents saga
also is your sister you but like, normal
// do not reblog
Kind of. She’s weird but in different ways. Let me sketch out this dramatis persona for you. Unfortunately I had to redact the weirdest thing I know about her because it’s too much for me to admit to.
She’s 12 years older than me and extroverted, she likes parties and drinking and was much sluttier than I was because she could tolerate interacting people long enough to hook up with them. Also, not Very Demisexual. Great envy!
Like me, she writhed and squirmed out of the Doctor Life Path my parents hopefully set in front of her, and rebelled by... becoming a lawyer
She got the same depression and executive dysfunction issues I did, at almost the same age – senior year of high school. She went from being on track to get into Harvard to missing physical interviews because she didn’t leave bed, ended up getting into one of the less prestigious Ivies
and then got on the same meds that worked to fix it (Ritalin/Concerta) at around the same time – I remember being in the CVS pharmacy to pick them up for the first time in 2016 and being on a call with her and she brightly said “oh, I got on those a few weeks ago!”
Unlike me, getting on Concerta has made her actively superpowered at her job, she now (voluntarily, happily) works like 10 hours a day and has gotten a promotion or two. Great envy!
In her spare time she comes back and plays Bejeweled or 2048 or Tetris – the same species of game I get obsessed with. For hours. Every day. As far as I know, she does only that, and socialize, in her spare time. Maybe some movies now and then. Doesn’t read or write at the rate I do. She used to read a lot, and says something just changed when she was pretty young – around the same time she got depressed – and it doesn’t interest her anymore.
She’s not a rationalist at all; she doesn’t walk around constantly dazed with wonder at creation; she has no trouble picking up on social norms and living by them.
She doesn’t form strong loves and hatreds in the pseudo-BPD way I do, she’s preternaturally even-keeled – things just slide off of her.
She’s not altruistic. She’s actively and almost gleefully materialistic. She likes flashy jewels, handbags, nice cars. She and my parents are probably the least moral people I care about.
She’s got a different relationship with gender and dating. She was really attractive in her twenties – I don’t think she was single for more than a few weeks at a time since she was in high school – and dated a series of Korean men who were gentle and sensitive and adored her, and settled down in her early-mid thirties with one of them. She’s not sexy anymore for various reasons and has told me she likes this because now she can have real friendships with men where she knows they don’t secretly want to bang.
She doesn’t live up to my idiosyncratic standards of “what you do to live your life fully as a thinking being” and I think of her as strangely flat. I love her, but haven’t related to her emotionally on a deep level since I was young. I find her life and priorities alien and a little terrifying.

FAVORITE BOOK: a little princess, war of the worlds, uhhh on the beach, house of stairs, the secret garden. i was once weirdly attached to this book i read in jr. high called where the lilies bloom. i also loved heidi uhhh. see, there were all these obscure books i read in late elementary school and jr. high that i loved that i often have trouble recalling rip. like there was one called eva, and another called home before dark. one named belle prater’s boy. the crystal garden. sweet sassy tree hhhh almost anything written by robert cormier ahaaa

23. DREAM JOB: comic book creator orz or some kind of concept artist for animated movies. but. i’ve come to terms with the fact that i’m not really. Good(TM) enough for that, so nowadays i’m much more interested in something more mundane like nursing. as long as it’s night shift, i want it

all of these i’ve just kinda fallen away from thinking emoji i’ve never really had a bad fandom experience, so. you know

What sorts of games would the characters play in a modern setting?
Hmmmmmmm  ( ´ ω ` ) In a modern setting, I’m not sure if many of them would play video games, honestly! Still, I think this is a fun ask so we’re going to override that a little bit~--
Qiu is probably good at games you play with friends, like Move or Die, Smash, Heave Ho, etc. But he likes games that are more laid back such as Stardew Valley, Subnautica, etc.
An wastes time on mmorpgs! She’s tried everything from MapleStory, to Black Desert, BnS, and FFXIV. She especially loves the party function and she enjoys messing around with a group of friends on the platform.
Min He likes puzzle games, particular the indie ones! Untitled Goose Game, of course, being her current obsession.
Kaski might play offline mobile games sparingly. Games like 2048, Bejeweled, Tetris, etc. He doesn’t have the time for games in general, and sneaks in a few rounds while in transit or something.
Xinyi is probably drawn to rhythm games, so games like Osu!, Cytus, and Crypt of the Necrodancer.
Hiemi doesn’t play video games, but she likes some of the orchestral OST for rpgs. Chrono Trigger, obviously, along with some Final Fantasy pieces, God of War pieces, etc.
Go Ro is really hard to imagine as a gamer, but, uh, hm. He might find Doom cathartic?
Chun is fascinated by the horror genre, though it freaks her out a little. She especially likes the ones with cool world building, like Little Nightmares, Bendy and the Ink Machine, etc.
Spider does the dumbass, janky games and laughs his ass off every time. Stupid games like QWOP, Super Bunnyman, Getting Over It, and Protein for Muscle are the gold standard!

do any of the ops fancy some video games? if so which and.. which lol
Before I answer this, I gotta credit @grain-crain-drain and @lecielazure cause we had a nice combo about this on Discord and they gave so many awesome ideas, like half of this is all their contribution 💜
As I mentioned in the hobbies hc post, Echo likes e-sports, and loves playing shooter games. Dokkaebia also loves gaming, even on her phone. Since I hc that she and Echo are friends, they absolutely have gaming nights together. And they actually managed to get their teammates Hibana and Vigil into Overwatch too. I love the idea that Vigil plays a certain character (d.va, accoring to grain-crain-drain) better than Dokkaebi, who is jealous that Vigil stole her main. Eventually the group brings Ying in, to have a full team. At first Ying wasn’t enthused by the idea, since she tries to avoid spending time with Echo in her free time yes, she’s still sour with him, but she turns out to be really good at the game, and also really competitive. Trash talking and swearing in Cantonese kind of competitive 😄
Fuze has several portable consoles and loves puzzle games, like Bejeweled or Tetris. Speaking of which, all of the Spetsnaz have a friendly Facebook Tetris competition going on, and Fuze is the undisputed champion and Tachanka is a sore loser. He also played Pokemon Go, and that’s how he discovered that Mute is also a Pokemon fan.
Mute has been playing Pokem since forever, but otherwise isn’t very keen on playing games, at least alone. However, if invited to play with someone else, he will agree, since it’s a low social effort activity and also a way to make friends. He got invited by Dokkaebi and Ela to play RPGs, since Ela is a role-playing addict.
All of the GSG9 plays FIFA, and their group recently expanded to include Jackal and Caveira too. If one of them can’t play, Mute will sometimes act as a back up player. Aside from that, Bandit and Jäger also play Minecraft, and in all videogames you can expect them to try to trick and troll each other constantly.
Zofia plays Disney games with her daughter, occasionally getting frustrated at how hard those can sometimes be, “It’s supposed to be for kids, what bullshit is this?!” and refuses to give up until she has beaten the whole game.
The FBI play in group as well, either CS:GO or coo-op games like Overcooked. One way or another, it always ends up in disaster 😂
While everybody knows Caveira loves FIFA games, her best kept secret is how she can spend hours playing online dress up games or character creating ones like the picrew.me stuff.
Jackal plays on his phone a lot during his sleepless nights, and Doc has reprimanded him about it more than once, “I know you have insomnia, Ryad, but playing all night won't help you sleep! put the phone away ffs”. Since Doc threatened to take away his phone at night, Jackal now has a secret back-up phone for gaming. Montagne tried to help Doc with the issue and make Jackal listen to the voice of reason, but now Monty can’t stop playing Candy Crush and Doc blames Jackal for it.

Excuse me did you say you LIKE AIRPLANES? You LIKE FLYING ON AIRPLANES? I love traveling and travel often but I HATE flying and I hate airports. It gives me so much anxiety. I'm about to go on a trip for work and it's about 13 hours of travel consisting of two layovers and I am dreading it so much, especially because I'll be by myself. How do you do it??
i do! it’s okay you are not alone, a lot of people don’t like planes/airports or are even afraid of flying to such a degree that they’ll never fly anywhere, etc., so don’t feel bad.
I don’t know why I just always kind of liked it? I think it’s exciting! I love being in airports and watching all the planes taking off and seeing all the different places on the destination/arrivals board, that sort of thing. And it’s just so amazing to me that you can get in this big machine and fly across massive oceans that just a hundred years ago would have taken like, weeks to cross by ship. That’s fucking wild. I LOVE watching documentaries about aviation, of all types, I find it all so fascinating.
Also honestly even though I’ve had anxiety in some form for as long as I can remember, I find the whole experience of traveling by plane doesn’t usually bother me in that way? I don’t know why but all the little unexpected things that can go wrong while you’re traveling, delays or getting lost in airports or what have you, just don’t seem to rattle me for whatever reason. I’m very “meh, we’ll get there eventually” about things. I’m just weirdly chill in stressful situations.
And as far as safety is concerned I just know that air travel is statistically incredibly safe and that’s…enough for me? I know that doesn’t help a lot of people because when there are accidents it’s so catastrophic, I don’t know how to deal with that if that’s something that freaks you out tbh! I always just remember that there are millions and millions of people traveling by plane every single day without incident.
Okay so idk if this will help you, but here are a couple things I do personally to make flying much more enjoyable:
(I’m putting this under a cut because….not everyone cares right)
be organized when you pack and do not overpack! You NEVER need everything you think you’re gonna need. The less you pack, the less you have to lug around all day, and the more comfortable you’ll be. Seriously google “packing tips” and you’ll find lots of little tips and tricks, it sounds silly like packing should be common sense/easy but it’s totally not that simple. Good packing is an art form, truly, and future you will thank you for it especially if you have to dig something out of your suitcase in the middle of a busy airport or whatever.
If you can check a bag, keep your carry-on small so you don’t necessarily have to store it in the overhead bin (that space fills up fast, you want room for your feet if you have to stash it under the seat). And gate-checking sucks.
you know those various addicting mobile games like tetris, candy crush, bejeweled, etc., that you sometimes find yourself playing for an embarrassing amount of time? Like all of the sudden an hour has passed and you forgot to eat dinner because you were playing some dumbass puzzle game? those games are PERFECT for killing time on flights.
headphones, obviously.
have juice or water on the plane, airplane air is dry af i find i get really dehydrated so that helps me avoid miserable dehydration headaches.
also make sure you have a little thing of chapstick and hand lotion handy ‘cause again, nasty dry airplane air.
bring a lil snack like a granola bar or something, the food they give you on planes is rarely enough.
when you’re checking in or connecting, find your gate right away even if you’ve got lots of time. Then go find food or the bathroom etc., if you need to. You’ll feel SO much less stressed if you have a good idea of how near/far away from your gate you are at any given time.
scarves are good! big soft comfy ones! throw one over your sloppy comfy airport outfit and it looks like You Tried but also it’s like a mini blanket if you get cold.
chew gum or starburst or something especially for the landing, i’ve had my ears pop and hurt for like a full day afterward and it’s miserable.
on your layovers, seriously just find a quiet spot near-ish to your gate and set up camp and get comfy. I even sit on the floor by the windows sometimes? i try not to spend too much time in the food courts, restaurants etc., because personally i’d rather find a quiet spot and have my quiet time to mentally recharge before being crowded onto a plane with a hundred strangers in close quarters. i find that really helps my mindset/anxiety and then I can deal with things better.
Anyways good luck friend, you’ve totally got this! If things get stressful or overwhelming, try to just pause, slow down, kind of take stock of the situation and look around and don’t be afraid to ask for help! :)

An iPod click wheel game or iPod game is a video game playable on the various versions of the Apple portable media player, the iPod. The original iPod had the game Brick (originally invented by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak) included as an easter egg hidden feature; later firmware versions added it as a menu option. Later revisions of the iPod added three more games in addition to Brick: Parachute, Solitaire, and Music Quiz. These games should not be confused with games for the iPod Touch, which require iOS and are only available on Apple's App Store on iTunes.
History(edit)
In September 2006, the iTunes Store began to offer nine additional games for purchase with the launch of iTunes 7, compatible with the fifth-generation iPod with iPod software 1.2 or later. Those games were Bejeweled, Cubis 2, Mahjong, , Pac-Man, Tetris, Texas Hold 'Em, Vortex, and Zuma. These games were made available for purchase from the iTunes Store for US$4.99 each. In December 2006, two more games were released by EA Mobile at the same price: Royal Solitaire and Sudoku. In February 2007, Ms. Pac-Man was released, followed in April 2007 by iQuiz. Until this time, all the available games could be purchased in a package, with no discount.
In May 2007, Apple released Lost: The Video Game by Gameloft, based on the television show. In June 2007, 'SAT Prep 2008' by Kaplan was introduced as 3 separate educational games based on the subjects of writing, reading, and mathematics. In December 2007, Apple released a classic Sega game, Sonic the Hedgehog, which was originally packaged with the Sega Genesis system in the early 1990s.
With third parties like Namco, Square Enix, EA, Sega, and Hudson Soft all making games for the iPod, Apple's dedicated MP3 player took great steps towards entering the video game handheld console market. Even video game magazines like GamePro and EGM have reviewed and rated most of their games.
The games are in the form of .ipg files (iPod game), which are actually .zip archives in disguise. When unzipped, they reveal executable files along with common audio and image files, leading to the possibility of third-party games, although this never eventuated (with the exception of superficial user-made tweaks). Apple never made a software development kit (SDK) available to the public for iPod-specific development.(1) The iOS SDK covers only iOS on the iPhone and iPod Touch, not traditional iPods.
In October 2011, Apple removed all the click wheel–operated games from its store.

Criticism(edit)
iTunes had come under much criticism due to the UK price of iPod games, GB£3.99 (about US$7.40). Many people from the UK had given the games 1-star ratings, stating that Apple was 'ripping off' Britain.(3)
A similar situation occurred in Australia, where the price was A$7.49, even though the Australian dollar was (at the time) worth more than the US dollar (A$7.49 = US$7.76).
Developers had criticized Apple for not creating a software development kit (SDK) for software developers to create new iPod games; this was likely to keep the digital rights management of iPod games closed.(citation needed) Despite this, it did not prevent users from running an alternative OS on the iPod such as Linux, whereby, for example, there are ports of Doom that will run on fifth-generation iPods. Running Linux on an iPod retains the music-playing functionality of the device while also adding features such as the ability to create voice memos through the headphones.
When the iPod Classic and iPod Nano third generation were released, games which had previously been purchased could not be synced to the new iPods. Understandably, this made many consumers angry due to losing their investment.
It is also notable that after a download had been made for a game, it couldn't have been downloaded again unless a separate purchase was made for the same item.(4) This is different behavior than applications downloaded on the App Store, which can be downloaded an unlimited amount of times. These issues were later fixed, however, making it possible to install any single game on any number of iPods registered under the same account.

Unofficial games(edit)
Some older iPod units are capable of using replacement firmware such as iPod Linux and Rockbox. These firmware projects can play many other games, including the aforementioned native port of Doom; and, via a native port of the Game BoyemulatorGnuboy, many other games could be played, including Super Mario Bros., Tomb Raider, Mega Man, Kirby, Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Street Fighter, and hundreds more.(5)(6)
Games using the ″Notes″ feature(edit)
With the release of the third-generation iPod in 2003, Apple introduced a ″Notes″ feature to the iPod’s firmware. This functionality provided the first opportunity for third-party developers to create simple text and audio games which could be installed and run on an iPod without users needing to replace the official firmware.
With a limit of 1,000 individual .txt files, each with a maximum file size of 4kb, the Notes feature made use of a limited set of html tags. Hyperlinks could also be used to link to other .txt files or folders and play audio files stored on the device.(7) The limitation of available html tags meant that developers were restricted to Choose Your Own Adventure–style text-based games(8) or multiple choice–style quizzes with narrated audio.(9) Subsequently, very few developers used the Notes feature as a way of publishing games.

Good heavens, I’ve been tagged!
I was tagged by @multifandomwriting.
1)Do you have siblings? If yes, which one are you (oldest, youngest, etc)?
I am an only child. I have a half sister 10 years my junior and a sister-in-law nine years my senior.
2)What do you like about the country you were born in?
It was very much a land of the free for the first 50 years of my life.
3)What’s an event that you never want to miss and always sit down in front of the TV to watch?
Lately it’s been the World Cup. I used to religiously watch the Oscars and the Super Bowl, but I’ve missed the last three Oscars and as I’m not watching NFL this year because of Trump’s enforced bullshit about players kneeling, I’ll probably miss the Super Bowl as well.
4)Favourite video game?
Right now it’s Homescapes. I also enjoy Bejeweled, Bingo Bash and I miss Tetris Worlds.
5)What’s a weird thing that always reminds you of your childhood?
Reports of bullying.
6)If you could gain one talent, what would it be?
I wish I could draw. I have cartoon ideas but no drawing skills.
7)Do you collect anything? If yes, what?
I’ve been a doll collector since 1995, but I’m not collecting any lines now since Monster High petered out. Also, as I love taking pictures (part of the reason I collect dolls), I have filter apps up the wazoo.
8)What one song describes your music taste the best?
Caravan Palace has a song called “Dramaphone” that I initially swore I heard in “The Triplets of Belleville.” I didn’t, but it’s very retro with 1930s-era sampling, close harmony a la the Andrews Sisters and a catchy beat.
9)Who’s your favourite superhero?
Wonder Woman.
10)What’s your favourite animated movie?
“Wall-E.” But I adore the “Despicable Me” Minions.
11)Favourite quote from a movie?
“Why don’t you bore a hole in yourself and let the sap run out?” -- Groucho Marx, “Horse Feathers” (1932).
Now I’m supposed to come up with 11 questions in case any of you want to play. (If you’re reading this, consider yourself tagged. Especially you, Tee):
1. Dogs or cats? If you have both, do they get along?
2. Do your pets like being bathed?
3. Favorite member of Monty Python’s Flying Circus?
4. What was your favorite/most memorable experience watching a movie at a cinema?
5. What actor will make you watch the most insufferable movies because (s)he’s in them?
6. What’s your favorite sport to watch that is more popular in countries other than your own?
7. When did you learn to cook, and what is your favorite dish to prepare?
8. Do you collect Funko Pops? Which ones?
9. Android or iPhone? Elaborate on your choice.
10. Any smartass comments you made in your past that you really, really regret now?
11. What color would you dye your hair if you knew it wouldn’t jeopardize your employment status?

Jimmy Reed: On Video Games
Question: What are your favourite video games?
Jimmy Reed: Hm, video games. That is a very good question. Well, I must admit that I'm really not too big on the heavy action/adventure stuff. Games like Call of Duty really are not my cup of tea. My apologies to the fellas from Avenged Sevenfold. You guys are great people, you make great music, and I love spending time with you - but I'm not too into the type of games that you like. Well, I'm not ashamed to admit that I like Candy Crush - along with the sequels. Some of the levels can be quite difficult, but I have a lot of fun playing it. And, of course, I also quite love the game that inspired Candy Crush: Bejeweled! I also like to go a bit, uh, old school. I like some of the retro Atari games, such as Pacman and... Space Invaders. I also like playing a few Nintendo games. I'm quite fond of playing Super Mario Brothers. When I first started playing, I never thought I would get good at it - but, now... well, not to brag, but some people might say I'm quite a pro. I also like playing The Legend of Zelda. That one is a bit more complex, and you gotta keep the manual with you - but it's also fun to play. It's got some great music, and some great graphics. Oh, and I must not forget Tetris - one of the early games designed for... Gameboy. So, am I a hardcore gamer? No, not really - nor do I claim to be one. For me, games are simply supposed to be fun. Nothing more; nothing less.
