Hello! I just saw you post some Maitre Gims, and I know you like Stromae, so I was wondering what are french/french speaking singers that you like the most? You may have answered smtg like that already but i couldn't find it and I am, as always, very curious ^^ -☆
mc solaar!!!!!! and stromae for sure. and i had a whole renan luce phase in college. otherwise i mostly just listen to individual songs and don't tend to know a ton by the same artist, but i've liked some individual songs by christine and the queens, lous and the yakuza, tryo, kana, bénabar, vianney. some other artists but that's a sample. currently only know two french-language songs by mika but i like them. always looking for recs if you have any!

ten things bang chan says when he thinks you’re asleep — fluff, established relationship, a tinge of angst
CHAN | lee know | changbin | hyunjin | han | felix | seungmin | jeongin
Tumblr media
one. you know what i realized lately? i've been sleeping better. i think it started on the first night you moved in with me. i didn't know sleep could come so easy until i had you next to me. it's really nice to wake up and find you in my arms, too. and i think—i think i wouldn't mind doing this for the rest of my life.
two. your hair is longer these days. i think it suits you a lot, but i think i love it more because it's easier to run my fingers through your hair when you fall asleep on my lap this way, easier to play with them.
three. you used my shampoo today. i don't know why, but that made me love you even more than i did yesterday. maybe it's because my life feels so intertwined with yours this way. you feel closer to me like this. yeah, that must be why.
four. you've worked really really hard to get this far, and it shows. i'm so proud of you, angel. you're doing a great job.
five. i'm learning to love myself more because of you. thank you for loving me as i am. thank you for loving me when i thought i wasn't lovable. i promise i will love myself the way that you love me. promise you'll do the same for me?
six. i'm sorry if i get too in my head sometimes. i'm sorry if i don't listen when you tell me to take breaks. i'm sorry. i'm sorry. i'm sorry. please stay with me. i promise i'm trying. i really am trying.
seven. a song called 'grows old' played on the radio today. it made me think of you. please also hold my heart until it grows old.
eight. you deserve a place in this world. i'm sorry it made you think for a moment that you didn't, but you deserve to take up your spot. someone's life is better because of you, my life is better because you're in it. i've been learning to appreciate small joys because of you. i love you.
nine. if there's no one to lean on, i'm always here.
ten. one day, i'll marry you.

if you have a blank blog [no bio, no user, no header or profile pic, nothing reblogged, etc] do not interact with my content. you will be blocked.
It's so unfair, you think. Being so close to him, yet not allowing to linger — it's disheartening. You ache ; suffer and beg and cry, thinking of your brother's friend.
Baji sighs as you frown at him. "Do you really need to go?"
"Why am I not allowed to?" You reply. You'd put on your cutest outfit and your favorite shoes. After hearing Mitsuya was tagging along to this little get together, how could you not? "I'm hungry and you're going to eat."
"You never want to go," your brother argues. You cross your arms and tilt your head, raising your eyebrows to look stern. It's the way your mom looks at him ; the way she gets him to listen. Keisuke clicks his tongue, "whatever. Come on, then."
——♡——
By the time Chifuyu pulls up to the meeting area, your stomach is aching. You shuffle where you stand, sending a meek smile to Draken when he looks your way. Kazutora is distracting your brother, giggling together as you wait for the last guest to arrive.
A rumble hits the wind, covering the chattering of the other guys and numerous shoppers. Lilac hair shines in the light and you hold your breath — he's here.
"Boys," Mitsuya grins as he parks his bike. His eyes slide to you, smile growing gentle, less teasing. “Hey, trouble. Make a last minute decision to come?"
You nod silently, holding your stomach and trying to hide your grimace. Mitsuya tilts his head curiously, but gets taken into a conversation with Draken. You tug on the end of Baji's hair, "I'm going to the bathroom really quick."
A chest is pressed to your back quicker than you can think. A hand — gentle and firm simultaneously — leads you to the left. Mitsuya clears his throat as you scowl at him. "I'll show you where the bathroom is."
You want to cry. You're absolutely mortified at what you discover. Your pee is red — the reason behind your stomach pain is clear. Your favorite bottoms are stained and you're unable to wear them now. Having your period is natural, nothing to be ashamed about.
But, Mitsuya noticed. He shielded your backside so that no one else would see the splash of blood.
Leaning against the stall's wall, you sniffle as tears drip down your nose. You'd texted Draken about your current problem — Keisuke had broken his phone just yesterday. The blond was your only hope at this point ; you hoped he'd read your text soon.
"[Name]," a knock to the bathroom door startles you. "Here. I'll wait for you, okay?"
Humiliation — Mitsuya had taken it upon himself to get you supplies. Taking in a stuttered breath, you fought to make your sobs unknown. You dab your face with toilet paper lightly before opening the door. Quickly, you snatch the bag you see and ignore the one standing in the doorway.
He'd gotten you a new outfit, too. The same color as your previous one, so that no one else would notice what happened. Your tears fell again as you situated yourself.
Once out of the bathroom, you sniff and avoid Mitsuya's gaze. Draken is leaning against the wall across from you, looking over you quickly as you walked to him. You brush your bottoms lightly, head to the floor as you stand in silence.
"No big deal," Draken reassures you. He pats the top of your head with a grin, "let me know if you want to go home, okay?"
Your nod is stopped by an arm wrapping aound your shoulders. Mitsuya squeezes you close to him, trapping you in the smell of his cologne. "S'all good, trouble. Tell us if you feel unwell."
The light catches through a window, shining on Mitsuya like a hidden halo. His eyes light up, his eyelashes curving against his cheek as he smiles. Mitsuya's nose scrunches as laughs at something Draken says. Peeking at you with his peripheral vision, he tilts his head.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“You’re so nice to me.” It's said before you can even think. Because he is nice to you — kind, welcoming and warm. Mitsuya squeezes you a bit closer before letting go of you completely. Chifuyu waves your way excitedly. Your small, "thank you," is covered by the noise of the restaraunt.
——♡——
Mitsuya had left the table not long ago. Keisuke shoves your shoulder, causing you to bump into Kazutora. The dual-haired boy gasps dramatically before shoving into your right shoulder, bumping you back into your brother.
Your giggles are drowned out by the sight of Draken shaking his head. Chifuyu speaks through his own laughter, "where's Mitsuya?"
"Flirting," Draken says with a roll of his eyes. Your smile fades, falling from your face slowly at the words. Draken lets out a loud sigh, "can't take him anywhere."
Baji grumbles into your ear, "I'll say."
Kazutora snorts, covering his mischivious grin with his hand. He lays his head on your shoulder, "oh, whatever shall we do with such a pretty boy?"
Your grin inflates again at Kazutora's casual teasing. You ruffle his hair, scrunching your nose as he scowls playfully at you. "You're a pretty boy, too, you know."
Kazutora's eyes widen, his cheeks pinkening at your words as he sits up straight. Your eyes slide across the table. "So is Chifuyu, honestly." You look to your brother and grimace, "don't know what happened to you."
Baji clicks his tongue before shoving you again. Kazutora catches you in a backwards hug, his forearm settling across your collarbones. "Be nice to [name], Baji!"
"Jus' cause you were called pretty..." your brother grumbles to himself.
The chair across from you is pulled out, a loud screech hitting the area you're in. Mitsuya plops down with a stone-faced expression, his eyes focused solely on you. "Enjoying ourselves, are we?"
"Like you can talk," Draken teases. The tall blond flutters his eyelashes and clasps his hands together. "Oh, it's you! From class! The fashion designer!"
"Can't talk to my classmates now?"
Chifuyu snickers, kicking your foot under the table as he does. You shake your head, sinking your chin below Kazutora's arm to hide your grin. Mitsuya eyes your position idly before tilting his head, "you both look comfy."
Kazutora pulls you closer, "[Name] thinks I'm pretty."
"I said Chifuyu was, too!"
The dual-haired boy hums into your ear. "But, you thought of me first."
"As fun as this is," Draken looks up from his phone. He sighs before pocketing the device. "Mikey is calling for us. Want me to take you home, [name]?"
"I'll do it," Mitsuya interrupts. He lets out a sigh, gaze drifting from you and laying on the table. "I'm going to check on my sisters, anyways."
You're waving to your friends as Mitsuya leans against his bike. You can feel him watching you, but you ignore his eyes to grin gleefully at Kazutora.
"He your recent crush?"
"What?" You blink, turning to face the lilac-haired boy. Mitsuya shrugs, making no move to leave as he gazes at you. "Kazu? He's not my crush, why?"
"But, you do have one," he steps closer to you. "A crush."
Gulping, you move away from him and to the back of the bike. "Maybe."
Mitsuya hums, "your brother know?"
"Why would I tell Keisuke about a crush?" You lean beside him now, frowning to the ground. Kicking at the sidewalk with your foot, you scrunch your nose. "He's horrible at keeping secrets."
He nods and you're hyperaware of the way his arm brushes against yours. It's like he's doing it on purpose — moving closer to you. "I'm not. You can tell me who it is."
"No thanks!"
"Why not?"
You grow silent, even as Mitsuya gets closer. His arm is behind your back at this point, his hand sitting on the seat of his bike. "You don't need to know."
"I want to."
"Do you have a crush on anyone?" As he doesn't answer, you finally look his way. Soft, dreamy eyes are looking at you. His gaze feels heavy ; heated as he stares your way. "Mitsuya?"
He blinks and looks away, "maybe."
"Would you tell me who it is?"
"Well, that's not fair," he leans closer, his lips brush against your ear, "is it, [name]?"
You freeze, eyes widening as Mitsuya tilts his head at you curiously. Staring at the ground, you think about it for a second. You think maybe I should tell him ; maybe it's time. Then your mind flashes back to before — to when Draken said he was flirting.
"Oh, is it someone from your class? The one Ken was talking about?"
Mitsuya doesn't answer — that means yes, you think. Downhearted, you frown and scoot away from him, leaving room to breathe. He doesn't allow that, though, scooting until your arms are pressed together once again.
"It's a friend," Mitsuya speaks up. He leans more to the left, his chin almost resting on your right shoulder. "A close friend."
You gasp dramatically, hoping to interrupt the intense atmosphere. "It's Chifuyu, isn't it? Knew it — he's irresistible."
Mitsuya snorts, rolling his eyes. You smile at the sound, oblivious to the way he gazes at you. He bites his lip, hesitant, but nudges the tip of his shoe against yours anyways. You meet his gaze — his eyes flicker from yours briefly before he smiles tenderly. "I'll tell you who it is. Eventually."
You trust he'll keep his word.

Last Night
Jim Halpert x Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: Well, took me a bit longer than I thought it would but here it is! The fic yall voted on the last few weeks! Not entirely sure how I feel about it, bit back and forth for me, changed quite a few ideas from when I first decided I was going to write based on this song, but yeah! Let me know what you think!
This fic is based on the song Last Night (Beer Fear) by Lucy Spraggan so I suggest giving it a listen to!
WC: 4.2K
Master
A/N2: When you see “---” that means a time skip forward or backward depending on where you are in the fic, hopefully that makes sense!
---
Your head hurt.
Oh god, did your head hurt.
You hated being hungover. Last time you were hungover this bad, it was the night before your college graduation and you promised yourself the next day that you would never drink that much again. Obviously, last night you decided to break that promise.
Your situation only proved worse when the alarm next to the bed went off, signaling it was 8 am. You slap your hand against the table, looking for your phone, but instead you’re met with a bedside clock, finally stopping its ear torturing sound. You barely have time to sigh in relief before you struggle to take in your surroundings. Your head was still pounding and your eyes refused to open all the way but one thing was certain.
This was not your room.
This was not your house.
You woke up in someone else’s house.
First things first, check for your clothes. With a simple glance down, your heart sinks. Gone was your Halloween costume from the last night and in its place was a T-shirt that wasn’t yours and by the looks of it on you, belong to a man, as well as a pair of shorts also not belonging to you.
“Shiiiiiit.” You whisper to yourself only seconds before a knock comes at the door. You jump in place, clutching the blanket close to your body and ignoring the urge to throw up everything you ate yesterday. The door opens much too slowly for your liking before a very, very familiar head of shaggy brown hair appears and every muscle in your body relaxes.
Jim smiles sheepishly when he sees you in his bed. Your hair was a mess and you were wearing one of his old shirts from college. There was a ghost of your smile when you realize it was just Jim coming in that made him smile wide himself.
“Morning, sleepyhead.” He chuckles, handing you a glass of water and an aspirin. You don’t say anything as you take the pill and glass from him, gulping it down as fast as you can. “How do you feel?”
“I can taste colors.” You grumble, putting the glass next to Jim’s alarm clock. Jim laughs. He was unsure what exactly to say, although you were in the same position. You glance around the room, silently taking it all in and waiting for the pounding right behind your eyes to stop. “It’s Saturday, why is your alarm going off?” You finally say, meeting Jim’s eyes with a squint.
Jim’s brows raise comically as he nods. “I like to wake up at the same time.” He shrugs.
You shake your head. “You’re supposed to sleep in on the weekends.” Jim exhales a quietier laugh and you watch him rock on his heels, unable to look you in the eye anymore. You clear your throat, clutching the blanket a little tighter. “Uh, Jim?” He hums, leaning on the wall behind him. “Last night, did we… um…” you weren’t really sure you wanted to finish that sentence, but luckily you didn’t have to. Jim was quick to shake his head and you let out a huge sigh of relief. “Oh, thank god.” He quirks a brow and your eyes widen. “I didn’t mean like… just that, you know, I was drunk and you were drunk… and we’re coworkers… and friends?”
“It’s alright.” Jim’s posture relaxes and you feel your cheeks heat up a little at the prospect.
“Not that it would be a bad thing.” You quickly say before you can stop yourself, hating the fact your hangover hadn’t stopped you or said something less painfully stupid.
“I know.” You nod your head at Jim’s words, leaning back on his pillow and closing your eyes. Then it struck you; it wasn’t the words Jim said, but how he said them. It was almost like he knew what exactly you were talking about. Almost like he could read your mind, Jim chuckles. “You really don’t remember much of the party last night, do you?”
You shake your head, your breath stuck in your throat. “Was it bad?”
Jim tilts his head, thinking about yesterday before a smile crosses his face.
---
Last Night…
Jim walks into the office 15 minutes after the office’s costume party was supposed to start. He will never understand why Michael decided on a costume party at the beginning of April, but here he was. There was bad music playing from the office that Jim could hear the moment he stepped out of the elevator, widening his eyes momentarily before adjusting the taped black circles on his torso and pulling the door open.
“Jimbo!” Michael calls out before the door even closed behind Jim. Jim breathes out a laugh, putting his hands in his pockets. “Welcome to the party!”
“Hey Mike.” Michael throws his arm over Jim’s shoulders, struggling a bit with the height of his employee.
Michael leads Jim throughout the office, where he sees his coworkers in all in different costumes with drinks in their hands. Michael finally lets Jim go with a pat and push on the shoulder as Jim snags a drink on his way out of the conference room. He runs into Kelly and Ryan, Kelly sporting a costume that Jim didn’t realize was supposed to be Taylor Swift, and Ryan as a police officer. He was just about to answer Kelly’s question of how he was doing before he spots you, Phyllis, and Pam talking in the kitchen. He smiles to himself before heading your way, catching your attention out of the corner of your eye.
Pam catches your smile growing at the sight of Jim as she nudges your arm. “Will you just tell him you like him already.” She whispers to you despite the glass door separating the two of you. You smack her arm gently, sipping from the red cup in your hand.
“No.”
“Come on, Y/N! Tonight’s the night!” Pam keeps pushing, raising her brows at you multiple times.
Your mouth drops open from her antics. “Pamela Beasley, how drunk are you?” She rolls her eyes at you. “Phyllis, can you tell Pam to lay off?”
“Oh no, Y/N. I’m on her side. I mean, if I never made the first move on Bob, we wouldn’t be married.” She says before grabbing an extra drink and leaving you and Pam, heading towards the Annex where she knows her husband currently is waiting for her.
You tilt your head in defeat, unsure what you expected from seeking Phyllis’ help.
“Tell him.” Pam says seconds before Jim opens the door. Your eyes widen and you can’t help but take another large sip of your drink, knowing if you were going to have any chance of telling Jim you’re desperately in love with him, alcohol would be your best friend.
Pam not-so-sneakily steps away from you as Jim comes in front of you, matching your smile. You look him up and down before adjusting the black dot on Jim’s chest that had started to fall down. “Three-hole punch Jim? Bringing back a classic?”
“Oh absolutely, I put a lot of work in this costume,” Jim hides his smile behind his cup as he takes a drink. He looks you up and down as well, only he takes a bit longer as his brows draw together. “And you are…?”
You chuckle, looking down at the white shirt and pants and black shawl you were wearing. “I’m a penguin.”
A cute penguin, Jim says to himself and before he has the chance to compliment your costume in a way less exposing of his feelings, Michael comes tripping into the kitchen, holding a drink in his hand.
“Jiiiiim! Y/NNNNN!” He says, pointing at the two of you. You and Jim stare at him, neither of you saying anything as Michael pants heavily, his face red from the no doubt numerous drinks he’s already had. He just smiles, looking between you both before he turns around to leave and you can faintly hear the sound of him calling out Ryan’s name as the door closes.
Jim and you fall into a fit of laughter, unsure what exactly to do about your drunk boss. “Why did he get so much alcohol?” Jim asks, shaking his head.
You shrug and finish off the last bit in your cup. “I have no idea, but I am certainly not complaining.” You step to the right of Jim, filling up your cup with the bottles Michael put in the kitchen earlier. “Can we even have this much in the office?” You ask and take a long sip.
Jim watches you carefully as you toss your head back, effectively finishing off the drink you just poured before he gulped. “I uh… I don’t know.” He quiets for a second as you fill up your cup again. “Sure you don’t want to slow down there?” He chuckles, although he is a bit worried for you.
You shake your head and smile. “Nope.” You pop the ‘p’. “It’s a party, Jim. And I’m gonna enjoy it.” You stick your cup in the air and Jim cheers against your cup, both of you taking a sip and your eyes widen after yours, starting to feel a bit of a buzz.
“Alright, but I’m not helping with you if you’re hungover tomorrow.” He says as the two of you walk out of the kitchen, joining the rest of the party in the conference room.
---
“That doesn’t sound too bad, I remember most of that and even what Pam, Phyllis and I were talking about.” You can’t imagine the story of last night will remain as boring as those first 15 minutes Jim had described. As long as you didn’t drink that much more after those three drinks.
“What were you guys talking about?”
Uh.
“Nothing?”
Jim chuckles, moving to finally sit down on the bed next to you, causing you to scootch over as he sits on top of the blankets, giving you all the space that you need in your hungover bliss.
“I take it forgot about your ‘bracelets’, then?” Jim smirks, unable to meet your eyes. Your stomach falls greatly, a small vague memory coming back to you as Jim continues his story.
---
Jim loses sight of you for a bit as he is pulled into a drinking game with Kevin and Meredith, narrowly beating Kevin but loosing to Meredith in a landslide. He glances around the conference room and into the bullpen but he doesn’t see you. Most of his coworkers were drunk, but he sees Angela in the corner, sipping on a lemonade in a black cat costume.
“Angela.” He calls out, making her sigh. “You’re not drinking?”
“I don’t drink at work.” She says, despite the fact she’s not currently working. Jim nods, taking another look around from the new spot in the room. “Besides, someone has to make sure no one does something stupid like drive.” Jim nods again, glad despite Angela’s resistance to the party, she is watching her coworkers. Angela stops watching her coworkers actions with disgust and looks up with Jim before sighing even louder. “She’s in the annex.”
Jim’s head snaps her way so fast that he almost spills his drink. “What?”
“Y/N. She’s in the annex with Ryan.” Jim knows he’s blushing at how obvious he was searching for you, but thanks her nonetheless. “Whatever.” She says and walks away to another corner, continuing to sip on her lemonade.
When Jim realizes Angela said you were alone with Ryan, he was quick to make his way out of the bullpen, hearing your laugh before he was even in the annex. When he does walk in, he’s greeted with you and Ryan a bit too close for his liking. “What’s going on?” He calls out and Ryan jumps back, one of his hands coming up to scratch the back of his neck and the other picking up his cup of beer on the table.
“Hey man,” Ryan says before downing his drink. Jim gives him a look of distrust before focusing on you.
“Jim!” Your eyes light up as you turn around to see who was there and right away Jim knows you’ve had quite a few more drinks or shots in his absence. The second thing he notices is the metal circling around your right wrist. You hold up the wrist to show him with a smile. “Do you like my bracelet?” the loose cuff almost smacks you in the face but you don’t react. Your smile, however, does fall the moment you get a good look at the costume piece. “Oh, wait…” you say to yourself. “They’re handcuffs.” You stare at the piece for a moment before smiling again. “I took them from the police.”
“You took them from the police?” Jim finally manages to say, wanting to make sure he doesn’t have to murder Ryan.
“She did.” Ryan is quick to nod. Jim still isn’t quick sure he believe him but once he’s focused on you again, you’ve got the bracelet off your wrist and chucking it at the temps head. Jim has to hold back a laugh as it knocks the hat off Ryan’s head, and smacks him in the face.
---
You’re quiet, burrowing your face in Jim’s pillow in embarrassment. “Oh my god.” You finally say.
Jim clears his throat. “You don’t uh, happen to remember exactly what was happening there, did you?”
Much to his relief you nod and say, “Yeah, I took his cuffs because I wanted to prove I could do a magic trick.”
“Can you do magic tricks?”
“I’ve never done a magic trick in my life.” You shake your head and pull the pillow away just in time for Jim and you to both start laughing again, although your embarrassment was reaching new levels of insane. “Please tell me that was all I did and I went home right after that.” Jim stays silent, but he looks right into your eyes, causing your heart to skip and your stomach to flip. “Please tell me I didn’t embarrass myself more.”
---
“Okay, I am taking you home.” Jim says and takes you by the hand, gently leading you out of the annex and through the kitchen. By the time you both enter the bullpen, Jim hears you gasp and he stops instinctively, thinking you might be hurt or sick or something.
You were staring at your intertwined hands with your mouth agape. Jim lets go of your hand slowly, but your expression doesn’t change. Instead, you make a sound that Jim can only describe as a squeal. The rest of the party around you falls quiet, all looking towards you and Jim.
Jim looks at them all and by the time he looks back at you, you were several feet shorter as you were on one knee.
---
“There is no way that happened.” You interrupt Jim, shaking your head once again and gripping the pillow tight.
Jim can only laugh hard, clutching his stomach from under the blanket, where he had moved during the course of the story. “You got on one knee.”
“There’s no way.”
“You asked me to marry you.”
“I asked you to marry me?” You are beyond embarrassed at this point. You are flustered and irritated and you want to go back in time to when you thought you could drink whatever you wanted at an office party. You went from simply embarrassing yourself to possibly outing your stupid little crush on your coworker. You want to leave, you want to hope this was all a dream and you were going to wake up in your own bed, but you have to know one thing first. “…Was there more?”
Jim is quiet for only a minute and you know instantly that last night wasn’t over yet.
---
“Marry me.” Your words were a bit slurred and quiet, but Jim definitely heard them and most likely your entire office did as well.
His heart is racing and his head is pounding and he doesn’t know exactly what to do, but before he can think, his drunk brain was already pulling you off the floor. “What’s that, Y/N? You want me to get you home? Now? Well, if you say so!” Before any of his coworkers could say anything, Jim is leading you out the front door of the office and calling for a cab on the way down the elevator.
You are leaning against him the entire way down and he can’t resist enjoying the feeling of you practically hugging him as he wraps his arms around you, keeping you together as you wait patiently for the taxi.
When it’s finally here, you are practically asleep in Jim’s arms, mumbling something about not drinking so much next time and for the first time all night, Jim thinks you might actually be okay. That is until you start crying in the taxi over the ending of some movie you had watched the day prior that Jim really can’t understand the name of. The taxi pulls up to Jim’s apartment and he struggles to get you through the door and up the stairs, cursing the elevator for being broken.
You’re finally in Jim’s bed and Jim lets out a sigh of relief, happy that you were safe and taken care of. He drapes your shawl over his desk chair and takes one last look at you before he starts to turn off the light. Just as the light turns off, a loud thud comes from the other side of the room and he flips the switch back on to see you face down on the floor.
He frowns before gently helping you up and making sure you’re okay once more. He was about to get you back in bed before you were suddenly more alert, scaring him a bit.
“I’m hot!” you yell out and he jumps back, colliding his back against the wall from being startled. He isn’t sure how exactly to help you before you pull your shirt over your head, quickly leaving you in your bra and giving Jim no time to divert his eyes. Just as you did with your shirt, your pants were on the floor and Jim is standing in front of you, looking up at the ceiling and covering his eyes with his hands.
“And now you’re naked.” Jim mutters mostly to himself because he can’t believe that you’re here, in his room, standing in front of him, in only your bra and matching underwear which he only got a glimpse of before coming to his senses and covering his eyes. He doesn’t know what to do next. He knows you’re not going to put your clothes back on and he doesn’t really want to remove his hand and help you and violate your privacy in the process. There’s only one thing he thinks of that might just work.
Blindly, Jim heads over to his dresser, finally removing his hand to search through his clothes. “Here,” he says, turning blindly once more. “You can wear these.” He holds the t-shirt and shorts out to you and his arm remains out stretched for a bit before you slowly take the clothes from him. When the sound of you changing stops, Jim lowers his hand.
The shirt was baggy on you and the shorts were a bit longer than shorts should have been, but Jim thought you looked great in them because they were his. You were wearing his clothes.
He must have been staring for a bit too long because you reach up and gently poke his cheek, breaking the moment between you both. Jim is hopeful in your state that you don’t realize how red his cheeks were when you poked them. “Alright, lets get you to bed.” You nod, finally working with Jim to get you under his covers and snuggled in his pillows. He has to stop himself from reacting the way he did with his clothes once again. When your breathing slowed down, Jim finally steps away, and just like earlier, he turns off the light, thanking everything possible that there was no thud this time.
He was just about to close the door before hearing you say, “I want your babies, Jim” and he freezes in his tracks.
---
For the first time all morning, you don’t say anything when Jim stops talking, you can only sit there with your head buried in the pillow, silently praying that the bed would simply open up and take you whole. Jim has no idea what is running through your head at the moment, he can only assume a whole lot of embarrassment, but if he was truthful, he isn’t sure you really needed to be embarrassed. He actually enjoyed taking care of you last night. And he has definitely been enjoying this morning as well.
“It wasn’t that bad.” Jim tries to reassure you but you can only groan into the pillow, a sound that Jim thinks slowly is turning into a laugh.
“I am never drinking again.” You say to him.
“I promise, it wasn’t that bad.” Jim pulls the pillow from your face, unable to hold back the smile on his lips when he sees you.
You sigh, staring into his comforting eyes before rolling your eyes. “Yeah, says you. You’re not the one who completely embarrassed herself in front of her coworkers and her cru- and her friend.” Just like that, you’ve embarrassed yourself even further. Hopefully, Jim didn’t catch onto the slip of your tongue, but you know you don’t have good enough luck for that. The two of you are quiet for a moment. You’ve refused to look at Jim since your slip up, settling for keeping your eyes closed, which is honestly helping with your hangover headache, and Jim just looking at you. “It least there are no photos on Facebook of me doing the robot this time.” You joke, hoping to help the situation a bit better.
All your comment does is elicit a “What?” from Jim, followed by chuckles as he promises himself to find those photos later.
The two of you were quiet once again, sitting in comfort as you think over the events of last night. You can hear your heartbeat echoing in your ears and your headache is a second thought to the fact that Jim and you were in his bed together and just talking. In all your years of pining after your coworker, you’ve never in this position before, so close together, your bodies were only separated by the fear of wanting more.
“Thank you for taking care of me.” You whisper to Jim and his smile softens his face.
“I always will.” He assures you and your lips tug upwards. “Besides, like you said last night, you need me.”
Your lips instantly tug downwards. “No, I didn’t.” You would’ve remembered that part of the story.
Jim can only laugh, scootching closer to you in the bed on accident with the action. “I didn’t tell you about the cab ride?”
“That I was crying over a movie?”
“And?”
“… and that I said that I need you?”
“And?
“And? What else did I say?”
“Besides that you need me?”
“Never said that.”
Jim smirks. He doesn’t say anything.
He doesn’t say that you rambled off almost a hundred reasons why you were in love in him.
He doesn’t say that it took everything in him to just say you were drunk and didn’t mean any of it.
He doesn’t say that despite feeling drunk himself, he sobered up real fast when he heard those three simple words tumble out of your mouth the first time. And the second time. And the third, fourth, fifth, even what seemed like the 99th time. He just wishes he could hear them again, when the words were said by a sober you.
“Come on, tell me!” You interrupt his thoughts, pushing on his shoulder gently. “What did I say? It can’t be worse than anything else I said to you last night, and I still blame it entirely on the alcohol.” Your hand lingers on his arm, slowly falling closer to the bed where his own hand was laying. Jim can’t look anywhere but your face, but your eyes were studying the way his fingers were slowly covering across your own, something Jim wasn’t even aware he was doing. “Jim?”
He clear his throat, breaking out of the moment between the two of you, but he doesn’t release the hold on your hand, instead he shifts his hand so your fingers intertwine together. “Nothing.” Jim lies, hating the whisper in his voice.
You don’t believe him, but the way he’s looking at you makes you not question him further. Maybe you didn’t need to know everything about last night. Maybe it was all worth it to lead you and Jim to this moment, the two of you growing closer and closer in his bed until his arm is wrapping around your waist and Jim and your breathing has slowed to a sleeping rhythm.
Maybe this time it was better that you didn’t wake up in the morning and be in your own house.

I am slowly moving out of using taglists because it is very tedious and I don't like them, so if you would like to know when I post new fics (if I post new fics) try to follow the account @updates-from-elle if you can, it might not work because I haven’t tried it or played with the settings and everything, so stay tuned!

Okay so, I wanna talk about my sonboy Richas, my guy Felps, their relationship, and everything about yesterday as well
So, lets go :D
First thing, Felps actually really don't like taking care of Richas when he's without his armor
Felps has the terrible memory of being the one (together with Cellbit) to watch Richas first death. The three were at a cave and Felps and Cellbit were taken down first and had to watch Richas getting swarmed and die far from their grasp
The death was reverted, but still, when Felps logged in next time, Richas had JUST died to the bull again, so he already had 1 life. It was the very same day, just a couple hours after. Felps always reinforced about the armor, to the point he didn't let Richas take it off even when safe at Foolishs place when he could see Leo didn't wear it
Felps fucking loves that kid, he's just the quieter dad. He won't scream that much, when he panics, he shuts down and focus on the problem. He's the best dad to talk about feelings and often is the one who talks Richas out of his spiraling self deprecating thoughts, while other dads don't have the same touch
Felps has the patience to talk with Richas and hear Richas points. He always is the one talking him into a shower even if it takes a whole trip beforehand so Richas can have fun before it. He sings a lil song to get him through a shower. Ever since he came back from the lab, he trusts Richas a lot with his own strength, he knows Richas can defend himself even better than Felps can defend himself
It means a lot that Felps is the only dad Richas will listen to more easily, even if sometimes it takes a lot of talk and bargain to do so. Richas is a difficult kid, he channels all his sadness and pain into being silly and overly courageous, which means he will be a disobedient kid, he will put himself in danger, he won't listen to his dads if he can make a joke about it and it has been getting worse lately
Richas is Not doing okay, he's constantly scared of losing the ones he love, he feels easily replaceable which makes him panic and act out in 'jealousy'. He has said before he fears his siblings don't really like him and it's why he always wants to have family around, he knows he's a problem and has even apologized to Bad about it once. He thinks he can't express his love through words when he has written so many beautiful things, he paints bc its how he thinks he can better translate his care
Yesterday, after Bad took him and Felps to the graveyard and out of it, Richas went back with Felps and put some flowers around their graves. A small talk started when Felps wondered if the dead eggs were looking down at them, but also couldn't really believe it because they'd be too far up there to actually see anything. Richas then said how people used to tell him Bobby was up in between the stars, but they stopped telling him that 'story'. Then, this talk happened
"Do you think they'd [Dead eggs Richas never met] like me?"
"Ofc they would! Everyone loves you! They'd love you, Richas"
"If I had died today, would I meet them?"
Felps goes quiet for a couple seconds here, then goes back to talking
"Maybe, maybe not. We can never be sure, Richas. What if you died and it's just nothing after, huh? It's a big bet. You can't keep thinking like that and then go throw yourself in front of a zombie horse to find out if they're at the other side"
"Yeah, I wouldn't be able to annoy all the dads, it wouldn't be worth it... I'd miss you all so much" (He used the word saudade)
"Awwn... But you would be dead, Richas. We would be the ones missing you, we would be the ones staying behind"
And to me this is a very telling moment. Because Richas didn't realize people would miss him as well, he just thought about how he'd miss being with the others. He also says how he'd be in hell, missing his family but also laughing at tragedy. When Felps asks why hell, Richas goes "You really think I'd end up in heaven? With the way I am?"
Felps spends the rest of the stream hyping Richas up, telling him how much he's loved and how much everyone cares for him. Felps manages to get through Richas after a while, and they have a nice moment together. Richas already arrived to the square without armor, after having recently argued with Forever about it, and Felps didn't mind bc that area was all lightened up so less mobs were spawning, plus the aforementioned trusts he has on Richas
No one expected the horse because it came from outside the square, right out the border, and literally fell on top of them. Felps was quick to go after it, and Richas was caught out of surprise and got height damage as well, eating through 2 totems (and also having to switch out the other ones from his hand due to the rule)
Felps was smart about the horse, he always hit up high so there wouldn't be any risk of a misclick, he hit crit after crit pushing the horse away so he could better kill it without risking Richas, and he did it! I understand BBHs scare but everything was already solved and Richas was halfway being revived already
If anything, the trip to the cemetery scared Felps more than it did Richas. Richas is well used to the threat of death, he plays with it by jumping into mines and purposefully walking without armor around Forever. But Felps isn't. He wants his kid safe, he wants him alive. Felps was willing to never come back if it meant Richas could have an extra life, he would die over and over for that kid
After everything, he talked with Richas, and the kid didn't rlly need to be convinced to wear his armor now that he knew how the square can be tricky. Felps didn't need to yell, or compare Richas to anyone, or play lil games. Just a talk, and Felps' trust that Richa would now do his part, and he did!
Each mob they encountered next, Richas and Felps stayed side by side. Felps let Richas kill them first bc he knows Richas likes it, but always helping and telling him how he was doing it well. When they were rowing around later in the boat, music playing, Felps went on about how it was all that mattered
Richas was alive, Felps was alive, they got a scare but they were okay now. And it was all worth it for these calm, happy moments. These were the ones that should be remembered, the ones that made it all worth it

The Weeklong Date (pt.2)
main masterlist
spencer reid x famous!reader universe
word count: 1.6 k
warnings: suggestive, a lot of taylor swift references
Tumblr media
It was the fifth day of Y/N staying with Spencer, and he went back to work yesterday. And staying with Spencer for a few days they’ve built a sort of routine, that was sort of housewifey, Y/N would sit in bed and watch as Spencer got ready for the day; tucking in his shirt, that Y/N found so adorable. Spencer would always kiss Y/N goodbye, and kissing Spencer every morning was a luxury Y/N doesn’t think she will ever take for granted. And while Y/N waited for Spencer to come home for lunch, she was starting to write more and more songs for her next album, or sometimes she would read the books Spencer kept beside his bed. She had started reading ‘The Great Gatsby’ she had always wanted to but it was never the time.
But her favourite time of the day was when Spencer would come home during his lunch break. Spencer hadn’t been telling Y/N, but everyday when he leaves for lunch, getting back the team was hounding him wondering where he left too. Of course he didn’t tell them, wanting to keep their relationship private for a little while longer. But he never did miss the knowing look Penelope sent his way.
-
After Spencer’s long day of the team questioning where he’s been, and having to explain why he couldn’t come to the bar with them and that they couldn’t talk him into it like they usually would. Spencer just wanted to spend time with Y/N, take her on a date, hopefully something private enough that she wouldn’t get noticed. And Spencer had a idea he thought was perfect.
Walking through the front door he sees Y/N curled up into his couch, with one of his cardigans on, reading one of his books. Seeing Y/N so openly use his things, and clearly being so comfortable in his space, Spencer felt this overwhelming sense of possessiveness over her. Wanting nothing more than for her to be his.
“Get dressed, we’re going out.” Spencer urged, grabbing onto Y/N’s forearms to lift her off the couch.
“Where are we going?”
“If I say it won’t be a surprise.”
“I didn’t know it was a surprise. I thought I told you I don’t like surprises, don’t you have an eidetic memory? You should remember that.”
“I do remember, I just don’t believe that you hate them as much as you say. I am also a profiler so I can tell these things.”
-
Surprisingly it was already dark out, but that was a good thing, because Spencer had decided to take Y/N on a late night drive, to go get ice cream. He still hadn’t told Y/N and to say the least she wasn’t too happy with his choice in doing that.
“Where are we going, Spence?”
“Y’know children often ask the same question, either because they are hoping that the answer will change or because they didn’t understand the answer. Now applying that to this situation, I know you understand me, so I can only assume it’s that you're hoping for a new answer. So I’ll just tell you I’m not giving you another answer.”
“Where are we going to go?” Y/N asked in the darkness of the car, seemingly ignoring what Spencer had just said. Don’t get her wrong, Y/N loves when Spencer rambles, it showcases how smart he is, which is something she greatly loves about him. And she definitely listened to every word he said, but what she doesn’t like is when he uses his knowledge against her.
“You’re impossible.” Spencer said, quickly glancing at Y/N before looking back to the road and continuing, “Having a distraction technique can be a very healthy way of coping with a situation, so how's the construction in your building going?”
Y/N’s apartment building in New York, had a flood while she was away and have been doing construction the last week.
“It’s going good I guess, it’s going to take a little more time then they initially thought, because they found some pipe that was in the wrong place. So I rented a place on Cornelia Street.”
“That’s good.” The car had stopped at a red light causing them both to look towards each other. There was no way to explain it but the air between them had shifted, looking into eachothers eyes, Spencer’s glancing down to Y/N’s lips. He pauses for a moment, before gently pressing his lips to hers. After another moment Y/N pulls back to look back into Spencer’s light brown eyes, a beautiful chestnut, her lips falling open as if to say something, but no words coming out. But only for a moment, until she speaks.
“Spencer, I love you.”
This causes Spencer to hesitate, It was at this moment that Spencer realised, god he loved her. He loved her more than any other girl he’s ever been with, and they weren’t even official, they weren’t dating, on paper they weren’t anything. But they were so much more.
After a few moments of pondering, thinking about how deeply in love he was with a girl he met a month ago, a car honks behind them the light had turned green and the cars in front of them long gone, causing Spencer to pull over to a side street before he responds.
“I love you too.”
“Oh, thank god, I thought you were going to say you didn’t love me back. ‘Cause I know this is soon and it’s a bit of a delicate situation, I mean we aren’t even dating-”
For the first time in Spencer’s life it was him cutting of someones rambling. Grabbing Y/N’s hands to grab her attention.
“Hey, I love you. And I want to be with you. I don’t think it’s too soon, sure most couples fall in love four months into a relationship, but when has either of our lifestyles been like most?”
Spencer says, causing Y/N to laugh before she fully realises that they’ve said ‘I love you’ to each other. Then Spencer continues, “I love you. And I want you to be my girlfriend.”
“Yes!” Y/N says, jumping into Spencer's lap and passionately kissing him.
He loved her. He is her boyfriend. And he loves her. His love was a secret Y/N was more than willing to keep.
“Know where are you taking me?”
“To go get ice cream.”
“Yay!”
-
That night the couple had read The Great Gatsby together, after making sweet, feverish, emotion filled love together, right where they lay now. Y/N laying between Spencer's legs, her back on his stomach, wearing only a clean pair of Spencer’s boxers, with Spencer wearing a pair of Y/N’s favourite pyjama pants on him. Spencer had the book in his hands, with said hands resting on Y/N’s boobs, in order for them both to see the book. No other reason.
The two both loved this post orgasm bliss they had, spending time together, it was just simple. Reading together, Y/N asking any random question that pops into her head, knowing Spencer will have the answer, like now.
“I saw today that shrimp can see more colours than humans. How is that possible?”
Before Spencer could answer, a knock interrupted the two, Y/N saying she’ll get it, then getting up to get the door, throwing one of Spencer’s sweater vest overtop of herself.
The popstar answered the door, coming face to face with one of her boyfriend’s co-workers, Derek Morgan. Maybe the worst member of the team to find out this way. Seeing Derek, Y/N became very aware of what clothes she was wearing, or lack thereof.
“Derek Morgan.”
“Y/N.”
Pulling down the sweater vest of Spencer’s Y/N says, “Um.. You’re looking for Spencer I assume?”
“Yes, I am.” Derek says, not before looking Y/N up and down taking in her appearance.
“Okay, yes. I will get him. For you.”
Derek mumbles a quick ‘thank you’ before Y/N softly shuts the door after their awkward conversation and runs into Spencer’s bedroom, where he is lying on his bed, still clad in a pair of pyjama pants and shirtless.
“To answer your question about shrimp, the mantis shrimp can see more colours due to it’s-”
As Spencer starts answering her previous question, Y/N places her hands on the sides of Spencer's neck to gently interrupt him.
“My love, I normally would never cut off your rants, because I love you and I love your brain. But Derek is outside waiting for you.”
“What? Derek? Why is he here?” Spencer says, jumping out of his bed, putting on a shirt. Much to Y/N’s displeasure.
“I don’t know, I didn’t ask. I just tried to get out of there fast because I’m only wearing this.”
“Derek saw you like this?”
“Hon, don’t be jealous.”
“Why were you answering the door dressed like that anyway?”
“I thought it was our dinner.” Y/N innocently said, genuinely thinking it was their dinner they had ordered.
After getting dressed Spencer opens the door, him now coming face to face with Derek, Y/N staying out of view in the kitchen
“Hey, pretty boy.”
“Hi. Um.. Wha-What are you doing here?”
“Other than clearly disturbing your romantic evening?.. Hotch called, we have a case and I was close by so I said I would pick you up. I thought you would be alone…”
“Oh, well I’ll get my go bag and we can leave. Come in.”
Spencer left the door open for Derek to enter the apartment, walking down the hall to his room. Derek walked inside, not even having a chance to talk to Y/N, as Spencer was speedily reentering the room.Spencer presses a quick, loving kiss to Y/N lips, they mumble their goodbyes, before Spencer ushers himself and Derek out the door. Derek and Y/N yelling out their own goodbyes before they’re gone.
“You’ve got a lot of explaining to do, pretty boy.”

KIM MINGYU (+ JEON WONWOO) - BITTERSWEET
Tumblr media
author’s note: this is a fic for the @caratsland event, it was a very long process to write but i am proud of this fic, my first true long fic and angst, hope you guys enjoy! inspired by the song bittersweet.
song recs: recommended songs for this fic are bittersweet by wonwoo mingyu and leehi (obviously hehe), i don’t understand but i luv u by seventeen,
synopsis: can two broken hearts find peace, happiness, and heal each other?
word count: 5.2k | genre: heavy angst, hurt/comfort, love triangle | pairings: wonwoo x f! reader, mingyu x f! reader | warnings: mentions of alcohol, heartbreaks, cursing, bad mental health, mentions of food, tiny bit of physical fighting
mingyu had always been in love with you, since the moment he met you; he couldn’t get you out of his head, it was something about the way you smiled at him or the way your eyes lit up when you saw him. just like as if he was put under a magical spell, he was mesmerised by you, he felt like you were his soulmate.
except, this was not a fairytale. this was real life.
“hey, you seem like you just got dumped or something let me treat you to a drink, okay?” a guy next to you observed.
he could recall the the first time you two had met like it was yesterday. it happened to be in a place odd enough; a bar. you had the first heartache of your life and went out to drink your pain away and happened to sit next to him at the bar.
“is it that obvious?” you laughed weakly. he offered a grin in return. “i know a broken heart when i see one.” he said with the same smile on his face. “speaking from experience?” you blurted, a bit tipsy, hands clamping onto your mouth following the remark. his soft look saddened. “sorry, didn’t wanna pry into your life.” you apologised, shame rising in you. “no worries.” he said reassuringly. he saw your almost empty glass and got back to the topic. “so, which one is the lucky drink today?” he joked, motioning for you to choose one from the menu on the table. “surprise me.” you said, playing along with his silly game. “my pleasure.” he faked a bow in sitting position, tilting his head. “you have to turn around or at least not look at the drink, it isn’t gonna be a surprise if you do.” he emphasized, “don’t worry, i am not gonna put anything in it, she can assure you about that, right?” he projected his gaze towards the bartender who nodded siletly. “okay then, but it better be good.” you giggled, twisting your body in the opposite direction so you couldn’t see the drink itself. after the bartender finished the mysterious beverage, she handed it to you, and you accepted it. “thanks.” you returned her kind smile and took a sip of your drink, not knowing what kind of alcohol it contained. “tequila? you have a good taste.” you said after tasting the medicine-like bitterness on your tongue. he laughed out loud. “it is said to be curing heartbreaks.” he told. “i mean it is indeed bitter, might as well be the solution for stress too, isn’t it?” you mumbled in a melancolic tone. he put his hand out for you to shake. “i’m mingyu by the way.” he grinned. you couldn’t surpress the smile that made its way onto your face, and shook his hand firmly. “y/n. nice to meet you, mingyu.”
“i can’t believe you don’t want to tell me his name, after all the times i heard you dreaming about him in front of me! you know how sappy you can be when daydreaming?” fast forward to three years later you guys were sitting in your bedroom, and mingyu was listening to your rambles about your long time crush, jeon wonwoo. he didn’t know it was him though, of course he didn’t know; wonwoo was initially a friend of his, but after stepping foot into mingyu’s inner circle years ago you got to know him yourself, and fell for him. hard. mingyu didn’t know how hard it was to not let him in on this, you truly wished you could have his support, but you had no choice. he was your best friend; you really appreciated mingyu with a full heart, but you just couldn’t tell him your biggest secret, not after failing in love so many times, after all the occasions he had to pick up and glue back together the broken pieces of your heart, you wanted to spare him from having to deal with your bullshit for another time, even so having the possibility of choosing between his friend and you if things didn’t end well.
”y/n, we have been over this so many times, you should ask him out already! i cannot go another week, no, another minute with you whining about it!” he teased you, resulting in you blushing. he loved seeing you blush; you were really pretty with a dust of pink on your face, especially if he knew he was the reason why you got shy. “mingyu, stop! i already told you i am not about to get my heart broken another time!” when you said this sentence he became more serious. he was there for you after you two had met at the bar and you suffered the consequences of a rejection from the first guy you loved in your life. and he had been there for all the heartbreaks ever since, building your confidence up again and again, from nothing. he knew how much that hurt you and on second thought he never wished to see you in that state ever again. “you know what, i might as well take that back.” he agreed, to which you looked at your knees, fingers fidgeting with the hem of your shirt. he understood well what played out in your head; he knew you like the back of his hand. he forced you to look into his eyes, a firm look on his face. “look, i don’t want you to get that sad you were when we met. you are my best friend.” he paused for a moment. “all i want is to see you happy. however, for once, you need your happy ending, and that takes many tries sometimes.” you gave him a sad smile. “i know you do, mingyu, i know. and thank you for being here and supporting me. one day i will tell you about him. be patient. please?” you pleaded, and he gave you a determined nod, getting on with your conversation, putting this heavy topic aside for your sake.
“i am so sorry y/n, but i am afraid that i can’t reciprocate your feelings.” wonwoo said, but you didn’t hear it. all you could focus on was holding your tears back, so you didn’t seem any more patethic than you already were, pouring out your heart to him, getting it shattered into millions of pieces. you asked him to meet you at the park for a walk, thinking your next move through after your conversation with mingyu and deciding that you had enough of the waiting and you needed to confess. well, it was definitely a stupid idea. you honestly didn’t know what you had expected; you saw the way he looked at that one girl from the coffee shop he worked at part time, they worked together most of the time, being almost the only ones who ran the place besides the owner. he obviously liked her, not you, but you confessed anyways, what a waste of time and energy.
“it is totally fine wonwoo, it’s okay, no worries! let’s just forget this ever happened, okay?” it was not fine. you were not fine, but still managed to put a forced smile on your face, as big as it could get. “but i should really go now, i forgot about something!” you turned on your heels, choking back the tears you had been holding. “but y/n wait-“ he said but you cut him off. “see you later, bye!” you managed to get out while already running away. you didn’t know where your legs were taking you, but one thing was sure; anywhere just to be away from wonwoo. while hurrying to go to a quieter place to let your emotions out you bumped into someone. “sorry.” you stuttered; when you looked up above the wide shoulders in your vision you saw mingyu’s face with confusion written all over it. his eyes widened “what are you doing here-“ he tried to question, but you pushed him away and started running down the street. “what is going on?” he shouted after you, but didn’t follow; he knew you and how you liked to have your space when getting upset over something, so he never forced you to talk about the issues with him. he would always just text you right after hearing the news and eventually you would come to him yourself; you always did.
but not this time.
he waited for days.
weeks.
months.
you never spoke about what happened that day and what upset you, or about the thing that made you distance yourself from your friends, including him. after that particular day he rarely saw you, and when he did it was only on occasions when just the two of you hung out; that was all he could get you to do, very rarely. when the other guys organised group gatherings you usually cancelled them with some lame excuse last minute; he never believed them, but he stayed silent.
after another few weeks of the situation not getting better he wanted to take action to find out what was wrong, so he made a plan to invite you for a drink at your favourite place.
“mingyu i am very busy and you know that.” you said over the phone when he called you in the afternoon. there was a moment of silence on the other end of the line. “please, we haven’t hung out in like, forever. i miss you, y/n. i really do.” your heart jumped in fear; you had been avoiding all your friends on purpose, but not mingyu, no, you would never want to do that to him. you felt guilt creeping up on you as you could imagine his big puppy dog eyes looking at you, pleading for you to soften and give in to him, which you of couse did. you sighed. “you may be right, i did neglect our friendship. i am sorry mingyu. so, where are we going?” he shouted in excitement. “yes! i knew you would give in to me y/n, you cannot resist me.” he joked to which even if he couldn’t see it, you raised an eyebrow and rolled your eyes. “in your dreams, silly.” you answered. “we are going to your favourite bar! just like old times, remember?” he giggled; that place held so many memories to both of you, laughing or crying, didn’t matter, you loved being there with him. “so just the usual, got it. see you there, text me the exact date. bye mingyu.” you hung up, worry already being heavy on your shoulders; you knew you had to come clean about what happened months ago. although mingyu knew you very well, you did too, so you didn’t doubt that eventually he would ask about the reason of your social distancing, looking like that time had come.
mingyu greeted you at the usual seats in the corner of one of the private rooms; they were basically reserved for you guys, considering how many times you had been sitting in them, talking about this and that, in this case your love life being on the menu of the chit-chat. “so y/n, let’s get to the point.” he started, and you already knew the continuation. “i think you understand why i called you here without me needing to explain in detail. it has been months since that incident. so, tell me. what’s up? are you okay?” he pouted. mingyu was an emotional guy, he really cared for the well-being of his closest friends and he always made it his mission to help them, you frequently being one of his top priorities. if he wanted to be honest he cared for you ten times more than his other friends, they could solve their problems on their own; however, you relied on him a lot, which he didn’t mind; he got used to it pretty quickly, enjoying being trusted by the person whom he adored so much in this world. you looked at him with a heavy heart, tension being so nerve-wrecking while you contemplated whether you would make the right choice by speaking about wonwoo. “sorry ‘gyu, i just couldn’t bring myself to tell you, but i guess now i cannot run away, i know you would figure it out yourself anyways” you turned to him, talking slowly. he listened attentively, encouraging you to go on. “…so here i am, telling you the secret you have been so eager to know. i should start at the very beginning, right?”
“then he rejected me.” you cried into his chest, his arms wrapping around your form protectively. “he fucking rejected me! after all the years i have spent loving him from a distance i succesfully mustered up the courage to tell him, and this is what i get mingyu!” your cries continued steadily, and mingyu was quick to stroke your hair, patting it repeatedly. “why does nobody i love loves me back? do i not deserve happiness in life? am i unloveable, ‘gyu?” you looked into his eyes, tears pricking your own; he could see the pain you had been through in the past few months. he knew how hard it was for you to get over even a crush, not talking about real love. he could see it on you; that you really loved wonwoo, sincerely. it was easy to tell, really; if you didn’t, you wouldn’t have been so upset for this long. and this is exactly why he was really mad at his friend for breaking your heart. “of course you are loveable y/n. gosh, you are the most loveable person i have ever known, so stop with the nonsense. he doesn’t deserve you. he doesn’t deserve the love you have in you, the jokes you make that make everyone want to laugh immediately, the look you give to people you adore and respect, the way your eyes light up when you see a cute dog, or the way you cannot resist those delicious cookies they sell at the bakery next to your apartment and buy them every time they have them freshly out from the oven. he wouldn’t appreciate the meals you cook by yourself and decide to share with your friends, the kind words you have towards everyone, every day, or the help you offer to others without hesitation, even if it puts you at a disadvantage.” he finished his monologue, taking your hands into his. “you deserve the most happiness there is on this planet.” he whispered, almost looking like he was afraid if he said it any louder you would disappear into thin air. “do you really think so?” you mumbled, voice hoarse from crying so much in the span of an hour. “i know so.” he said gently, hugging you softly. “so, is this the reason why you have been avoiding the group meetings? you didn’t want to look into his eyes after the confession?” he gave you a knowing look, having caught on pretty quickly, not to your surprise though; mingyu was a smart guy, he connected the dots easily. you just nodded silently, too embarrassed to say anything about it. it wasn’t the first time you had gotten emotional with mingyu, but this felt different; you weren’t that young anymore, it wasn’t a silly little crush, or a minor inconvenience. regardless, it felt great to have him back and involved with your life again, after these painfully long weeks you admittedly missed his presence an awful lot. you grew more tired with time and closed your eyes when you heard him whisper. ”everything will be okay y/n.” he promised, and you started to believe him.
“so, it was you all along. i should’ve known.” mingyu laughed bitterly while walking up to wonwoo; they were in the practice room, tension already high thanks to new choreography, however the pair had been holding back as much as they could, until the day mingyu found out about you and wonwoo. he squeezed wonwoo’s shoulder, maybe a bit harder than comfortable or necessary. “gosh, i don’t understand. what’s so special about you?” he wondered out loud regarding the rethorical question, gritting his teeth, clearly for the other to hear it. “what is your problem mingyu? what the hell are you even talking about?” the shorter one quizzed, not getting the point of mingyu’s words. “you literally broke y/n’s heart. never took you for the type to hurt others.” mingyu spat out, disgusted by the words rolling off his tongue. realisation hit wonwoo, and he frowned upon remembering the memory. “i wasn’t trying to hurt her feelings.” wonwoo calmly replied. “damn brother, you really outdid yourself with that one there.” mingyu commented again while not even paying attention to his friend, walking away. after this wonwoo couldn’t stay silent; he grabbed mingyu and made him look into his black eyes, dangerously shining. “what the fuck ‘gyu? yes, i didn’t reciprocate y/n’s feelings, so what? im sorry, but should i just ignore what my heart says just to save her from heartbreak? look, she will get over it. this doesn’t work like that, but you seem to be having no idea of what love is like-“ “shut the fuck up! you think i don’t know that? that what the heart wants the heart wants? i love her! i love her and she loves you out of all people!” mingyu screamed at him in frustration. “you should’ve made her happy. happier. she deserves happiness with the person she loves the most, even if it’s not me, even it is you, asshole.” mingyu sighed, disappointed. wonwoo’s eyes widened and he covered his mouth with his hands. “so this is what this was all about, your crush on y/n. how couldn’t i notice it earlier?” he wondered in a surprised tone, to which mingyu kicked him in the shin. “of course, yell it out to the whole world, would you?” he mocked wonwoo who kicked him back in the process. “ouch!” the taller one yelped. “this was for yelling at me,” wonwoo stated, “…and this one is for being this big of a coward to tell her how you feel and blaming it on me.” and with that he slapped mingyu’s arm, the man groaning in pain from the impact.
“love really took the remaining braincells in your head didn’t it? stand up for yourself for god’s sake!” wonwoo lectured, wanting mingyu to cut him some slack because he rarely had anything to do with his anger. “you are the one she loves, not me, i will forever stay the best friend in her eyes. my hands are tied here, brother. can’t you give her a chance? just a few dates? maybe you could get to know her a bit more and fall in love.” mingyu suggested in a low tone, not very fond of the idea, but rather desperate to make your dreams come true; he just wanted you to be truly content with your life, even though if it meant getting you together with his friend, he swore on bringing the moon and the stars to you just to see your happiness, even if it broke him into pieces. “seriously? you know that me talking to her will cause more damage, right? and how shitty of a person you think i am to date someone my best friend loves?” wonwoo sighed, scolding mingyu for not thinking more rationally. “i can get over her, but whatever, forget about it.” mingyu said and then stormed out of the practice room. wonwoo followed him and grabbed his arm. “fine, if this is what you want i will do it. then tell her to text me, because i don’t think she even wants to talk to me. she didn’t even wait for me to finish! i didn’t want to sound so harsh, but i didn’t even have the chance to say anything because she stormed off just like you did now!” wonwoo was grumpy, mad even; he liked you, you were a great friend, he just couldn’t see you in a different light, he had never intended to hurt your feelings. “good, i will. i know she hasn’t gotten over you.” mingyu smiled a bit, wonwoo letting his arm go.
mingyu hadn’t heard from you in a few days and you hadn’t been replying to his messages so he decided to surprise you by going to your workplace after your day ended to pick you up and go out to eat something delicious together, but when he arrived at the building and went inside unexpected news greeted him. “what do you mean she hasn’t been to work?” he asked the recetionist at the ground floor after hearig that you weren’t working. “like i said; she has been on sick leave for a few days already.” he was at a loss of words; why didn’t you tell him that you were sick? you knew he could cook you some soup and help if you felt that bad. regardless, he got into his car after thanking the lady for the help and drove to your apartment. after arriving at your doorstep he knocked on the door, but no answer came from you. “y/n? are you there? i heard that you were sick.” again, silence. “i know where you keep your spare key, so if you don’t open the door i will come in myself, don’t do this to me y/n.” he pleaded, trying to keep his cool and not think about how you could be passed out on the floor and seriously hurt, that being the reason why you never replied to him in the first place. he took the key from underneath the mat in front of the door and stepped inside. there was darkness everywhere around the house, only a small source of light coming out from under your bedroom door which was closed. he hurried through the hall where he could clearly make out your crying through the walls. “y/n? are you in here?” following his question the wailing stopped and he heard a gasp, then the door opened, revealing a very tired you; messy hair, dark circles under your eyes, which were by the way red from crying. “aww what’s wrong?” mingyu asked, pulling you into a hug. “at your office they said you were sick. are you?” he asked, not even waiting for an answer, already putting his hand on your forehead. you pushed it away. “no, i’m not. i lied to them. i lied because i am not okay, ‘gyu.” you sobbed, feeling pathetic that you couldn’t get over the heartbreak of wonwoo rejecting you, even though it had been a long time since the incident. “look, i know it hurts, but life goes on y/n. you can’t hide from everyone forever just because someone hurt you. you know how much i love you and how much pain i am in seeing you suffer, but you need to get it together.” you looked up at him, admitting that you indeed had to sort your feelings out. “and also, i might have a solution for you. what if i said that wonwoo wants to hang out with you?” he grinned, looking kind of crazy from your perspective. “mingyu this is not funny!” you pouted, not believing that he would joke about this; this was really out of line from him. “i am being serious y/n, you would know if you read my messages! i sent like a dozen of them that i had important news. he said he wanted to talk to you, maybe go to the park or something? like on a walk? whatever, you two can figure that out yourselves, point is that i delivered his message. now go text him.” he urged you to take action, and being the good girl you are you put your fear aside, accepted his help and texted wonwoo.
it had been months after the first text message regarding the ‘getting to know each other’ agreement between wonwoo and you, and things seemed to be working out pretty well for the two of you, feeling closer and closer to each other day by day. you had to admit, he was an exceptional person with values similar to yours, you had never ever imagined to be clicking with him so quickly; you hoped he felt the same.
“i heard that you and wonwoo get along really well y/n.” mingyu mentioned while walking along the line of the pavement in front of you when the two of you went for grocery shopping for a party the friends of mingyu had been planning for several weeks. you tilted your head and turned it in his direction; you had been talking to and meeting up with wonwoo after sorting things out about the confession, but didn’t expect him to tell mingyu how it had been going.
“did wonwoo talk about me? wow that’s impressive, it really means we are going in a good direction i suppose.” you wondered; you were not sure about where you pre-dating stage was going to lead you as you had not been in contact with wonwoo as much because all of you guys had busy schedules. “yeah, i think he is starting to fall for you. good job!” mingyu patted the crown of your head, just like when the teacher praises the elementary school students for getting an answer right on a test. you had been brighter in the last months, even considering how nothing was guaranteed with wonwoo, taking it slow, you most certainly did look happier, him assuming it must be already enough for your confidence and joy levels to rise to be able to do something with wonwoo, even as friends for the time being. however, mingyu’s heart had been slowly shattering into more pieces by the day; his feelings for you became stronger with time, after you searching for comfort in him on that night at the bar he just couldn’t stop himself from falling for you harder, even with knowing you wouldn’t return those feelings. he had been working on trying to accept the situation, trying to accept his place and role in your life as your best friend; it was not easy.
you chuckled at his action, winking at him in return. “what can i say? it looks like i am irresistable after all, don’t you think?” his face changed very quickly, though it was barely noticeable; for a moment his eyes grew sadder but he regained his composure in just a second and put on a big smile for you. “yeah, i told you so. now let’s get that grocery shopping done.”
when you arrived at the party after going home following the shopping trip to get ready many people had been there already; it was hard to find anyone you knew. you spotted mingyu in the crowd and he locked eyes with you, waving. “y/n! come here!” he shouted through the noise of the music and you pushed yourself through the wave of people in the living room. “hi.“ you greeted the others shyly; it had been many weeks since you participated in a group activity, since the incident with wonwoo. you came because you missed the boys; you didn’t treat them well and they didn;t deserve it, they had always took care of you like you were their family. “hi y/n, nice to have you here.” wonwoo, who just arrived with a few drinks added, giving you a smile.
“can i have this dance?” wonwoo questioned when taking the empty place next to your right side; you were dancing with mingyu to one of your favourite songs, bodies moving to the rhythm in sync. you took a peak at mingyu’s face, looking for a sign that he heard the question too. he gave you a quick nod and let go of your hand, wonwoo taking it instead and leading you further into the crowd of friends. mingyu watched as the two pair of you and wonwoo laughed and talked while moving on the makeshift dancefloor in the room, then disappearing from sight. he stared into the distance with a sad smile on his face, every nerve in his body concentrating on not lettng him be bitter about it and trying to encourage himself to be happy for you; afterall it was what you wanted, wonwoo’s love.
as mingyu turned around the corner of the hallway he caught a glimpse of wonwoo leaning in and slowly kissing you by the kitchen counter, your hands moving to link behind his neck, him pulling you closer, flush against his body. you were lost in the moment so you didn’t hear mingyu’s footsteps come into the room. “oh.” this was all he could manage to get out, words light as a feathery whisper, freezing in place for several seconds, watching the scene unfold in front of him. after seemingly regaining his composure he turned around his heels, planning on going back to the party in the living room. his steps were long, slow even, dragging his limbs like he didn’t have the energy to move forward in any sense possible; he entered the bathroom instead of the space where everybody had been enjoying their night, standing in front of the mirror, watching himself in it closely. he watched as the teardrop he knew he had been holding in slid down his cheek and dropped to the sink below, as the smile he put on for the entire night disappeared, more tears starting to fall with it.
mingyu was a strong person, there was no doubt in that; but even the strongest fighters and warriors get wounded. he let go of the white surface, slowly opening the door as quietly as he could, taking his coat from the hanger it had been placed on before. upon stepping outside into the night he sent a text to his friend informing him about him leaving so they wouldn’t get too worried. he got into the car, driving down the road, arriving at a familiar place; the bar. he bought a drink, then made his way into the usual room, sitting down in the chair which used to be yours, where the two of you would chat for hours about random topics, where he realised that he was falling for you; where it all started. he closed his watery eyes and held his breath, silence and stillness surrounding the place, not the slightest trace of anyone’s presence there, not even his, like he wanted to believe he could vanish if he tried hard enough.
he exhaled; staring at the ceiling, tears continuously coming from those sad chocolate brown orbs, every beat of his heart, the heart that had been beating for you all this time, tearing it a bit further apart. eventually the tears stopped, only a shaky sigh being left behind, mouth open, words forming, but not yet ready to come out. mingyu’s hand reached his cheeks, brushing away the evidence of his walls crumbling down, lifting the drink to his mouth, taking a sip from it.
“goodbye my love.” he whispered to himself while the sip of tequila entered his taste buds; it had never been this bitter.

Setting Boundaries
Hi welcome to indulgent writing featuring your personal care unit Moon. :)
TW: Implied toxic friendships
Blue fingers wrapped around the cellphone in your hands and plucked it from your grasp.
"Hey!" You frowned, rising from the couch to try and snag your device back from the towering animatronic. He gave a soft tsk, tucking your phone out of sight.
"Ah ah ah," Moon wagged his finger. "You've been making faces at your accursed device for an hour. What's wrong?"
"It's nothing," you crossed your arms, sinking back onto the couch. Moon gave you a skeptical look, head tilting dramatically to one side.
"Nothing."
"Nothing," you insisted.
"I did not know you could cry over nothing," he mused, sinking onto the couch beside you. He flipped, letting his legs curl over the back while his back and head came to rest on the floor. You looked down at his face.
"...I'm not crying," you wiped at your eyes.
"You're a bad liar," he rolled his eyes in response. "Why are you upset?"
"I'm just..." You sighed, picking up one of the couch's throw pillows and wrapping your arms around it. "Am I a bad friend?"
"No," Moon said immediately. "The only thing you are bad at is taking care of yourself. Which is why we are here." He tilted his head, causing the bell on his cap to jingle.
"...Yeah," you nodded. "I guess."
"Someone told you you were a bad friend?" Moon wrapped one of his cool hands around your wrist. You allowed him to pull your hand closer, relaxing as he began to trace the lines on your palm. He knew it was always easier on you to talk if he wasn't looking right at you.
"They didn't say that, exactly. But I mean... They were venting and I guess I just... didn't respond the way they wanted or something. I don't know."
The lunar animatronic was silent a moment.
"Is this the same person who was venting to you yesterday?" He traced out the shape of a moon on your palm.
"Yeah, but-
"Shh. Were they also the person who was venting to you on Monday?"
"Well, yes, but-
"How often do you listen to this person vent?"
"...It's not that often-
"Oh yes it is," Moon rose from the floor to stand over you, arms crossed. "This is the third time this week. You aren't a therapist- you're actually in therapy." He huffed.
"I can't help it," you groaned, "I mean- it just seems like they don't have anyone else to talk to..." Looking at your lap, you sighed.
"Well, they can't talk to you all the time. You need breaks. You need time to yourself to decompress. I respect that you care about your friends, starlight, but you have to set boundaries. You look exhausted and it's barely eight o'clock." With that, Moon turned and walked out of the room. For a moment, you thought he was actually mad at you.
But a few moments later, he returned to you and wrapped a blanket around you. With a soft sigh, he turned on the TV- something that surprised you, since Moon didn't care for television- and put on a cartoon you'd probably spent way too much time telling him about.
As the theme song washed over you, you felt yourself relax a little more. Moon patted your head.
"If you are always carrying others' burdens, you will burn out," Moon said gently. You watched him walk into the kitchen. The sound of the burner clicking on hit your ears.
Soon enough, Moon was returning with a cup of tea, settling himself on the couch beside you. He passed you the cup of tea with a soft smile.
"You need to set boundaries with your friends. Tell them when you need a break. The constant strain will damage your friendships." Moon turned his attention to the television.
"What if they get mad at me?" You gripped the mug a little tighter, feeling a lump form in your throat.
"If they cannot respect your boundaries, they are not your friends," Moon said, tone clipped.
You shrank, looking down into the mug with a sigh. Moon sighed in turn.
"I'm not upset with you. It just seems like this 'friend' is really weighing on you. It bothers us." He folded his hands in his lap, looking apologetic.
Setting your tea aside, you scooted closer to Moon. He wrapped an arm around you, humming softly.
"I don't know how I keep getting into these situations," you mused, fixing your eyes on the floor as the colorful characters on screen laughed at a joke you'd heard a hundred times before.
"I just want my friends to be happy, you know? But before I know it, I'm taking on everything... I wonder sometimes if that's part of why I retreated in the first place." You looked over to the window.
Moon was quiet for a moment, rubbing tender circles in your back. He knew what you meant by retreating- the very reason he and Sun had been assigned to you in the first place.
Before he could respond, you continued.
"Where did I go wrong? Why is it that everyone can talk to me but I can't seem to talk to anyone? Why am I like this?" As you spoke, you felt the sting of tears at the edges of your vision. But you couldn't stop.
"I just- I don't get it. It always ends up this way. Why do I even try?" You laughed bitterly as the first hot tears slipped down your cheeks.
"What do I do? How do I fix this? It doesn't matter how many times I say I'm tired or that I need a break, we always circle back to me carrying everything with a stupid smile on my face." You buried your face in your hands, sobbing as you let it all pour out of you.
Cool fingers pulled your hands from your face. Moon gently cupped your cheeks, the chill of his hands soothing your burning face.
"If you are the one always taking care of everyone, who is taking care of you?" His voice was much softer than before. "You have to set boundaries. You have to maintain those boundaries. And... if it comes to it... you have to let go of the people who won't respect those boundaries." He sighed, watching you struggle to catch your breath.
"I know," you sighed. "I just... don't know how."
"We'll work on that together. But for now, let's focus on calming down. Breathe with me."
"You don't even breathe-
"Then breathe for me," Moon said immediately. "In."
You drew a breath in, feeling the way the cold air filled your lungs.
"Hold." Moon wiped the tears from your face. You could feel a sting in your chest as you waited to exhale.
"Out." He let your face go, reaching past you to pick up your mug while you let go of a shaky breath. Moon pressed the mug of lukewarm tea into your hands.
"Good. In."
You drew in another breath. Held it. And let it go. Moon made you do it twice more before urging you to drink your tea. You fixed your gaze on the television as you sipped at honey-rich chamomile.
Settling back into his spot, Moon let go of a sigh.
"...Who takes care of you?" You looked over at Moon. "If you take care of me."
Moon hummed, looking at you for a moment.
"I don't think I need to be taken care of, most of the time." He shrugged. "...Seeing you doing well puts me at ease, so just focus on that, hm?" He focused on the television. You quietly scooted closer to him, leaning against him as the credits rolled. He wrapped his arm around you, smiling softly.
When you glanced up at him, he was focused on the television. You smiled, feeling grateful for his presence.

Warrior Song 4
Find the series masterlist
Still working our way towards some plot, some fun, and some silliness.
Don’t take any of this too seriously - I am playing very fast and loose with canon on this fic. Also, I named the Weapon Joy. Because I can.
Warnings: Swearing, frustration, one mildly suicidal joke, self-deprecation, one smooch.
Word count: 2.7k
Tumblr media
Just a couple days later, Chief returned. Which you wouldn’t have known, since you’d hidden in the back of the medbay to make more painkiller tea, except that someone started calling your name.
“What’s up?” you asked Carter, emerging enough to see him.
He looked both relieved and upset, which was… definitely a combination. One that stirred unease in your heart. “The Master Chief is asking for you,” he said in a hiss, as if someone were listening in. “Hurry up!”
“What?” You frowned but set your things down, following Carter. “That’s ridiculous.”
“It’s true! He asked! I heard him!” Carter trotted off, expecting you to follow. Which you did.
Fernando spotted you and smiled, a brief look of relief crossing his features. “We heard everyone moved here,” he said, giving you a quick once-over.
“Yeah, we’re all here. All is well.” You paused. “Well enough, anyway. You? Any injuries?”
“No, no, I stay out of the fighting, let the big guy handle it.” He jerked a thumb towards an exam room with a wry grin. “Better that way.”
You hummed acknowledgement of that. “I’m glad to see you’re alright.”
The door to the exam room opened and your boss stepped out, expression tight. “I thought you weren’t on shift,” she said when she saw you, just on the edge of actually pissed off.
“I was just doing some work in the back, on my own time.” You straightened your shoulders, standing taller, refusing to be cowed.
And she might have had more to say, except the Chief stepped out of the exam room, taking in everything in a glance from behind his helmet. He nodded to you and walked out, Fernando on his heels.
“You–” Your boss turned on you, expression going cold.
“I’ll get out of here,” you hurriedly agreed, before she could really get started. “Carter, take care of the teas in the back, please.” And you beat a hasty retreat after the Chief and Fernando.
You never claimed to be brave.
“Have you seen the other Spartans yet?” you asked, jogging a little to catch up to the two men. Who both turned to look at you.
“Others?” Chief asked quietly.
“Yeah. I know there are a few around on a rotating basis, but I’ve seen Kelly, Blue Three, a few times. And Blue Four, and one other, were here yesterday, I spotted all three of them together.” You shrugged. It made sense to you - all Spartans probably knew each other, especially since they’d all been on the Infinity together. And you were like ninety percent certain all four were from the same generation of Spartans.
“Where?” He sounded interested now, more animated.
“No idea where they are now, but I’ll show you where I’ve seen them before.” You took the lead, heading off a bit to the side of the main camp. The area had been set aside for what armor maintenance was possible, as well as some sleeping quarters.
Chief overtook you then, heading straight for an armored Spartan. You hung back with Fernando, feeling almost like you were intruding on something.
“Are you okay?” Fernando asked quietly, looking at you.
“Me? Of course. Yeah, I’m fine.” You forced a little laugh, looking away. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
“You just seem…” But Fernando trailed off, apparently giving up on words. You were rather grateful for that.
“I’m gonna go get some food,” you lied, suddenly desperate with the need to be anywhere else. “Let me know if you guys need help with anything, okay?” And you were gone, trotting off before Fernando could really object.
Apparently today was just not a day that you could be a proper person. You needed something else to do. Going back to make more tea was not an option, and you didn’t want to hinder anyone stuck with you for searching through the Reverie.
Which left the old standard: searching for plants.
You didn’t intend to wander far. You didn’t take a soldier with you either. You just… slipped off. Quietly. Without even stopping to get a basket.
You just needed something to keep yourself busy until your brain stopped overloading. That was all.
You didn’t come back with much of anything useful, but you did at least come back before dark.
Even though you regretted it the next day by noon.
Your head ached from clenching your teeth, your shoulders ached from holding your tension, and you were so close to snapping at someone you weren’t sure whether to run or seek out a fight.
And your boss was officially on your shit list.
You left medbay the moment you could, stomping away. A few people moved out of your way, eyes wide, as if you were actually dangerous. You nearly laughed, but couldn’t quite manage it. Instead you scanned for somewhere, anywhere, you could hide until you regained your composure.
A Pelican. Probably the only one you’d seen. You made straight for it, hoping it would be empty and you could hide inside for a few minutes.
Luck was not on your side.
Chief, Fernando, and a blue glowing AI all turned to look at you as you hopped up the ramp. You stopped, heart pounding, hands shaking.
“Just let me hide here for twenty minutes,” you blurted, and immediately winced. “Please.”
“What’s wrong?” Chief spoke first, shifting your way.
“Nothing. Not the kind of thing you can shoot.” You shrugged, frustrated and a little embarrassed. “Nevermind.”
“Wait,” Fernando reached out a hand, pausing before he actually caught hold of your arm. “Use the cockpit, close the doors. Take as long as you want.”
“Thank you.” You swallowed hard and stepped past him, going into the cockpit and closing the doors. You sank to the floor, putting your head down and focusing on breathing.
You weren’t sure how long you sat there, calming down, settling back in your own skin, before a knock on the door caught your attention.
“Chief had an idea,” Fernando called, raising his voice a little to be heard through the metal. “If you wanna hear it.”
One last deep breath bolstered you enough to stand, and you opened the door. You still felt a little off-kilter, but better. “Yeah?”
“We found somewhere we marked to recon later,” Fernando explained. “Figured we could head up there now.”
You eyed him and then Chief. “Long as I don’t need a gun,” you quipped, relaxing a little.
“Great!” Fernando grinned as he stepped past you. “I’m gonna assume you’re normal and need to strap in.”
You laughed a little. “What, does he not?”
“Never. Just stands there.” Fernando settled in the pilot seat, and you picked a seat near Chief. The engines rumbled to life, and you hung on a little harder to the grips.
“You’ll be fine.” The comforting rumble from Chief made you raise your gaze to him, finding him half-facing you, visor as impenetrable as ever. But his stance was relaxed, weapon on his back. He was unconcerned.
“I don’t have the best associations with flying,” you admitted, shivering as you felt the Pelican lift off. “Did I see an AI earlier?”
“Hi!” The voice was female and chirpy, and Chief held out one hand to show the AI again. “I’m Joy.”
“Hi Joy.” You glanced up at Chief. “Nice to meet you.”
“You too! I’ve heard a lot about you.” She lowered her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “Fernando is still impressed with the way you shout at people.”
You laughed, somehow surprised when it was a little wet. Yeah, well. Don’t think I’ll be doing much of that.” You drew in a deep breath, grimacing at a bit of turbulence that rumbled the ship. “How long is the flight?”
“Not long,” Joy chirped. “We should be at our destination within ten minutes.”
“Great.” You held tighter at another little tremble through the ship.
“You’re okay.” Chief moved, surprising you when he stood between you and the back of the Pelican. Boxing you in, more or less. Seated as you were, you were even smaller than him than normal. But you didn’t feel intimidated. Just… safe.
“Do you always do this?” You couldn’t quite stop yourself from asking, and regretted it almost immediately.
“Do what?”
“Put yourself between people and danger, even if it’s just perceived.”
“Often,” came the answer after a few long moments of silence. But he didn’t move.
You tipped your head back to stare straight up into the visor, frowning just a little. “So who supports you when you need it?”
The Pelican dipped suddenly, unexpectedly, and you very nearly shrieked, clinging to the handholds. Chief didn’t even say anything, just put one hand on your shoulder, keeping you firmly in your seat.
“Sorry, sorry!” Fernando called back from the pilot seat. “Had to take a little detour to get there.”
“Detour?” Chief did not sound amused.
“Not a direct route from here, parts of one of those towers had gotten in the way.”
You closed your eyes and held your jaw tightly closed. You were not going to throw up on the Master Chief. It wasn’t going to happen. Not a chance. Nope. No way.
“Almost there,” Fernando said. Your stomach dropped as the Pelican did, and then it landed with a thump. You didn’t move.
The ramp opened and you opened your eyes to make sure Chief was out of the way before you dashed outside. Still no throwing up. Good. Small favors.
And then the sight actually hit you and you forgot all about your stomach. The Pelican had landed much further up than you had been before, and you could see where the ground dropped away in a series of small cliffs. But more importantly, to the side of that–
“Are those hot springs?”
“That was my guess.” Fernando stopped next to you, Chief on your other side. “Figured those would help morale.”
"I'll check it out!" You started towards the hot springs.
And almost immediately stopped as Chief got in front of you.
"Wait."
"Oh come on! There's nothing up here except for us." You scowled a little up at the visor.
"Just wait."
"Best not to argue with him, he's stubborn," Fernando advised.
When you threw up your hands but subsided, Chief nodded and walked the perimeter of the hot springs, alert. Finally, he nodded to the two of you.
You beat Fernando to the water, having given up on any semblance of dignity, and crouched to put a hand in to test the temperature. "Oh, stars, it's warm."
"I'm getting in." Fernando's vest hit the ground a moment later.
You turned away to give him a semblance of privacy, and to take some for yourself, and jumped when you found Chief a few feet away.
"Turn around, please." You made a shooing motion at Chief. He tipped his head just a little to one side. "I need a little privacy."
Chief huffed. But turned around.
You did a quick bit of hopping and tossing your clothes before jumping in the water. Your underthings would be wet, but for a hot soak, you’d deal with it. The noise you made was nearly sinful as you immediately sank to your neck in warm water.
"This is the best thing ever," you said with feeling, eyes closing in absolute bliss. "I could kiss whoever spotted this."
"That would be Chief," Fernando told you, and when you opened your eyes again he was relaxing back against the wall opposite you. He looked quite relaxed as well. "You have him to thank."
"Remind me to kiss him." You beamed, warm and comfortable for the first time in what felt like ages.
Fernando wheezed out a little laugh. "I would pay to see that."
You chuckled and leaned your head back. "This is bliss. Absolute bliss. I don't think we should tell anyone so we can just come up here when we want."
"That idea has merit." Fernando sank lower in the water until his chin was submerged. He blew a few bubbles, making you snicker.
"Chief," you called. "Get in here."
"Negative." He barely even glanced your way.
"Doctor's orders." You hummed. "This is therapeutic and you need it too."
Chief shook his head. "I need to keep watch."
You stood up to look over at Chief. "We're the only ones here. We've got the high ground, no one's gonna sneak up on us."
"You two enjoy." Chief continued a slow patrol of the area, glancing over at the hot spring every so often.
"Leave him," Fernando grunted, stretching out under the water. "I'll drag him back up here sometime for his turn."
"I'll help." You sank back into the warm water, sighing in bliss. "I live here now. This is my new home. The base can do without me."
Fernando chuckled. "What did happen, earlier?"
You sighed again, but with much less pleasure this time. "I'm sick of people questioning me. Assuming I can't do my job, or I have ulterior motives, or whatever." You smiled up at the sky, sad and frustrated and defeated. "If it keeps happening, I may commit murder. Or walk to the edge of the Halo and throw myself off."
Fernando sucked in a breath, eyes open now as he watched you. “If you’re joking, that’s not funny.”
“I’m not joking.” You closed your eyes, unable to face him for this. “I have one job, Fernando. One. I am the third most harmless person on this ring. If I can’t do my job and I’m useless for everything else, why even bother.”
“Hey.” The water sloshed as Fernando moved, and a moment later a hand landed on your shoulder. You opened your eyes to find Fernando stopped at just under arm’s length from you, respecting your privacy while still offering a point of physical contact. “You’re doing great, you know that? Way better than I would be.”
“I’m really not.”
“I had a breakdown in front of Chief six or seven hours after we met.” Fernando spoke carefully but mostly without shame. “It’s been weeks since you met him. You’re doing great.”
You laughed, a little wet but genuine. “Well if that’s the metric,” you joked, leaning in a little closer. “Oh man. He probably dragged you all over without even so much as a by-your-leave, huh?”
“Got it in one.” His smile was crooked but there and genuine.
“I can still hear you.” The comment was very dry, bordering on amused.
“So no more gossiping about how pushy he is?” You smiled.
“I mean, what’s he gonna do? Leave us here?” Fernando grinned, leaning back into his own spot. “Fine by me.”
You nearly cackled, sinking back down in the water. “Yeah, you’re right. We’re good here.”
Eventually, though, Chief walked over and stood at the edge of the hot spring. “Time to go.”
Fernando groaned but stood, turning to haul himself out of the water. You turned away and found a hand held out, ready to assist. The visor, of course, gave nothing away. But when you took his hand, Chief hauled you out of the water like you weighed nothing.
These Spartans were really going to get to you one of these days. Sooner rather than later if these displays continued.
“Thank you,” you muttered, feeling distinctly warm as Chief let you go. You grabbed your clothes and tugged them on, grimacing at the pull of wet skin on dry clothes. Worth it, though.
The flight back down to base was short and thankfully smooth, although that didn’t help your nerves. What helped your nerves was Chief wordlessly moving to block you in, one hand on your shoulder to hold you steady.
The ramp lowered and you stood, still riding the high of a hot soak. And, well, you had said you’d do this…
“Chief?”
He turned to look at you. You heard the door to the cockpit open. You took a deep breath.
And managed to get a good enough grip on his shoulders to haul yourself up to plant a kiss on the jaw of the helmet.
“Thank you.” One last dazzling smile to the extremely still Spartan and you were gone, dashing off to your bunk to properly dry off and get into clean clothes.
That was enough bravery for the next year.

Heartbreak - the batboys
Summary: How the boys (Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian) react (platonic) when you're broken hearted.
A/N: If you're going through heartbreak over a breakup or rejection I'm so sorry that you're hurting right now. I wish I could take your pain away. Although we don’t know each other, I can say with 100% certainty that you have so much to offer, way too much to waste it on someone who can’t/won’t appreciate you.
If you’re suffering right now, please don't give up. You got through yesterday which means you can do it again today. People often say that every day will get easier, but I know that it doesn't always feel like it; there may be good days and bad days and that's okay. Use that as a reminder that feelings, even negative feelings, don't last forever. But on the bad days, please stay strong. You've worked so hard to heal, don't let it go in vain. Progress may be slow and imperceptible from day to day, but progress is progress and I am proud of you.
You deserve all the love and happiness in the world. You deserve someone who will treat you the way you want to be treated. You deserve better and there is much better out there. If you need to hear it from someone else, take it from our BatBoys. Without further ado, here is how the boys react when you’re going through heartbreak.
Dick
If you’re hurting, Dick is hurting. He’ll do anything to help you feel better. He’ll ask you what you need from him, whether that’s someone to talk to or someone to sit in silence with, someone to wallow and eat junk food with, or someone to hit the gym with.
If you want to talk, he’s a great listener. He's patient and lets you vent and circle around and around as many times as you need, but he never lets you put yourself down. He’ll gently challenge your self-deprecating thoughts.
“Why am I not good enough?”
“Y/N,” he says firmly as he turns your shoulders to face him and leans down to connect with your eyes. “You are more than good enough.”
“Then why don't they want me?” you ask as tears pool in your eyes.
Dick shakes his head. His brows knit together in sorrow. “I don't know and we'll never know. Maybe they're going through something difficult that has nothing to do with you. Maybe they're confused. Maybe they're hung up on their ex. Maybe they think you’re too good for them and they got scared. Maybe they're looking for something different at this point in their life. There are so many possibilities but none of them matter because whatever is going through their head doesn't change anything about who you are. You are still the same amazing person that you have always been.”
"If I was so amazing then they would want me."
Dick shakes his head again. "That's like expecting every person in the world to love the same book, movie, song, food, you name it. Who's that comic book character that you're obsessed with? You're always raving about your hot take on why they're the best and how everyone's sleeping on them. Most people don't see their appeal but that doesn't make you love them any less, does it?"
Dick has a point. It's only a select group of people who share your adoration for your favorite character and that has never bothered you. In fact, that makes the character even more special to you.
If you don't want to talk about it, that's fine, too. If you'd rather consume an unreasonable amount of junk food, then Dick will clear out the local convenience store and be at your place in five minutes. He won't let you make it a habit because he cares about your health, but sometimes you just need a day to drown your sorrows in sugar.
You’re both in your comfiest clothes sitting on the couch under a fluffy blanket, even if it's 100 degrees outside. You'll just turn on the AC so you can be cozy and snug. You lean against him with your head resting on his shoulder as you eat your favorite snack in dejection. If you want physical comfort, then he'll put an arm around you and hold you close until you've eaten yourself into a sugar coma and fall asleep on him.
Dick worries about you and can't bear the thought of you suffering alone. If you laugh together, you cry together. He will be by your side as much as possible unless you genuinely want/need alone time. Eventually you might start to feel like a burden for taking up his time and disrupting his life, but don't bother pretending to be fine just so he'll stop worrying about you.
You put on your best smile, though you feel it faltering. You hope Dick doesn't notice. "I think I'm good now," you tell him. "That was the last of the tears."
Dick doesn't say anything. He just eyes you, a mixture of concern and contemplation on his face as he evaluates the veracity of your statement.
You try to hold it together just a little longer, but you crack and break down in tears again. Dick pulls you in for another hug. "I'm sorry," you mumble against his chest.
"What for?"
"For being so annoying. You must feel like my babysitter."
"You are not annoying, Y/N. You know I love hanging out with you and I know you'd do the same for me, so please, don't be a hypocrite and just let me be here for you."
Jason
Jason is best at supporting you through the anger stage of your grief. In fact, he will perpetually be in the anger stage on your behalf. If you were cheated on, you best believe that Jason will pay said slimy cheater a special visit. He won’t ever tell you about it because you’re probably going to object, but when your friend tells you that your ex was randomly beaten up the day following your break up, you can make an educated guess as to what happened. Jason knows you don’t approve of violence or revenge but it helps him sleep at night. He hates seeing you cry and if you’re crying, he’s damn well going to make sure they’re crying too.
If you’re ready to talk shit about your ex, Jason is your boy. He has a slew of creative insults to call the person who broke your heart and this man does not hold back. “Y/N, you are way too good for that assmonkey bitchface douchebag. They were lucky you even gave them the fucking time of day. Seriously, you are so fucking far out of their league."
If that weasel has the audacity to beg you to take them back? Over Jason's dead body. You are not wasting a second more on that asshole and Jason will make sure of that. If they call or text, he will not hesitate to colorfully tell them off. If they are brave (read: stupid) enough to show up at your place and unlucky enough that Jason happens to be there, Jason is absolutely going to go berserk on them.
Even if your ex didn't cheat on you, Jason won't want you to take them back. He refuses to let you be someone's convenient option. Jason wants you to be with someone who values you so much that the thought of letting you go never crosses their mind.
If you start missing that person and wanting to contact them, Jason will give you some tough love. He will physically stop you by confiscating your phone or having Tim rig it so that it can't call/text or receive from that number.
“Fuck them, Y/N. They’re trash and you dodged a bullet. Don’t tempt fate now.”
You might be craving the feeling of being wanted and chased and you probably have all sorts of wild fantasies of you and your ex rekindling the relationship. It clouds your judgement and makes you forget about all their many negative qualities.
"But maybe they've changed. What if they really love me and I'm reading it all wrong? What if I'm throwing away something special?" you object.
"Have you lost your goddamned mind? First of all, they're a moron who took you for granted. Unfortunately being moronic is an incurable and terminal illness so it's all downhill from here. Second of all, there's a thousand more just like them. If you really want to waste your time on a jackass, at least pick a new one."
Your head says Jason's right but your heart says otherwise and it's written all over your face.
"Y/N," says Jason, a little softer now. He stands directly in front of you with a serious expression. "I know you're going through hell but I've been there and back. I promise everything will be okay. Walk away with your head held high. Let go of them." Jason offers his hand for you to take. "I've got you."
And with his encouragement, you decide to move on. To help you get through this tough time, his go-to tactic is to distract you with all sorts of activities. It’s 3am and you’re feeling sad? Jason’s over at your place in a heartbeat and you’re going for a drive to get your favorite comfort food in your pajamas. You want Jason to get all dressed up and take you to a gala? Under normal circumstances, he'd rather die again. However, Jason will gladly do that if it means you aren't talking to your ex.
Tim
When you're heartbroken, people invariably tell you don't be sad because everything happens for a reason, be glad that you didn’t waste even more time on them, forget about them and find someone who cares about you. Gee, what splendid ideas; why didn't you think of those before? You know they mean well, but feelings don't go away just because you think they should. As a result, you might act optimistic and upbeat around others to spare yourself the well intended lecture.
However, keeping up the facade gets exhausting. Being social or being around high energy people can become an emotional drain. Sometimes you might want to avoid the entire world, save for Tim. It’s easy to be vulnerable with him because he doesn’t tell you how you should feel. Of course, he doesn't want you to be upset, but he understands that you need to grieve and it's okay to feel sad. Similar to how some people can sit in comfortable silence, Tim can sit in comfortable sadness.
"Did you want to do something today?" asks Tim from the driver's seat.
You shake your head wordlessly. You barely had the energy to leave your home today. Anything else would be too difficult.
"That's fine. We can chill at the manor," he says without judgement. He doesn't make you feel bad for wanting to be a hermit and he doesn't try to force you to get back out there before you're ready.
You follow Tim up to his room and you plop down on his bed. If you want some comfy clothes, Tim will toss you something from his drawers or he’ll grab some of his brothers' or sisters' old clothes.
Tim pulls back the covers for you to crawl under. He tucks you in like a child and kisses your forehead affectionately. It makes you feel loved and for a fleeting moment, the pain is gone.
If you want company, Tim will jump in on the other side and you’ll both be idly scrolling on your phones for a while. However, if you're on your phone, there's a good chance that you'll see something that reminds you of the person who broke your heart. If you don't want to talk about it, Tim won't pry. He'll open his arms in case you want a warm safe place to rest. He might rub soft circles on your back if you don’t mind.
If you do want to talk about it, Tim offers a different perspective. Maybe you're plagued by a million "if only" and "what if" scenarios. Maybe you're stuck on things you did or didn't do.
"I screwed everything up. What if that was my once chance at happiness? I wish I could go back in time and do it differently."
Some people like to focus on the positives. "On the bright side, now you have more time for your hobby." Or, "at least you'll save money on expensive dates and gifts."
They might gravitate to the old cliches, "Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all," and "there are plenty of fish in the sea." Unfortunately, none of that makes the pain any more bearable.
Instead, Tim focuses on the negatives. He recognizes that you're always going to find something to dwell on but you can use that to your advantage.
“You are the king/queen/champion of pessimism, Y/N. Even if you did exactly what you think you wish you had done, I have full confidence in your pessimistic powers that you would still find something to regret.”
Maybe something about that resonates with you. Maybe you've always struggled with indecisiveness because you're afraid to make the wrong choice. Maybe you've always felt like you're damned if you do and damned if you don't, so picking one seemed impossible. Now you realize if you're damned either way, then there's nothing to worry about.
“You did exactly what you needed to do at the time,” he assures you. "You are exactly where you need to be right now."
Even though you're understandably still sad, something in your heart tells you he's right. Being here with Tim is exactly where you're supposed to be.
Damian
Damian isn't particularly adept at providing physical or emotional comfort. It's not that he doesn't care, it's just that it’s hard for him to empathize. He sincerely wants to be helpful and tries his best but he can be unintentionally blunt and may come across as insensitive sometimes.
“Why do you want to be with someone who does not want to be with you?” he asks. Ouch. That stings. Did he have to phrase it like that?
“I don’t,” you answer, almost defensively.
“Then for what reason are you sad?”
“Because they don’t want me.”
“But you do not want them either,” he points out, not understanding the issue.
“Yeah, I know. It just hurts, okay?” you bite, irritation creeping into your voice.
"I am sorry you are upset but I am not sorry they broke up with you, Y/N."
You're stunned into silence. How could be he so cruel? To kick you when you were already down?
Then he continues. "You are genuine, thoughtful, generous, strong, and brilliant. You are a once in a lifetime soul. And them? They were nothing but a lowly simpleton who lacked the capacity to offer you the rich and meaningful life you deserve. They were foolish to let you go - likely too foolish to ever comprehend what they have lost - but I am relieved that you will not be condemned to an unfulfilling life with such a halfwit. They were merely an albatross around your neck, preventing you from achieving and experiencing far superior things in life."
That might have been the kindest thing he’s ever expressed to you or anyone else. Given how much pain you are going through, it’s probably hard to believe him right now, but you have to admit that he made you feel at least fractionally better.
“Come now, Y/N,” Damian says, tugging on your hand. “Let’s go play with Titus.”
The two of you are sitting on the couch with Titus in between. Titus is keen and quickly picks up on your emotions. He cuddles and nuzzles into your side as you gently stroke his fur. The warmth of his body grounds you and brings you some peace.
If you need a change of scenery, you and Damian take Titus for a walk. During your walk, you might come across something that reminds you of your ex. Maybe you see a cafe that you used to go to with that person. Your eyes linger on the storefront longingly and your whole body deflates at the reminder.
Damian notices your shift in body language. “What is the matter, Y/N?” Damian asks.
You sigh. “Nothing, I just - Never mind, it’s stupid.”
“I will be the judge of that,” he says, a little teasingly. “Tell me,” he demands.
You take a deep breath. “That was my favorite cafe. I introduced them to it and now it's their favorite place, too. I can't go there without thinking of them or worrying that I'll run into them."
"For once you are right. That is stupid."
"Thanks, Damian," you mutter sarcastically.
"Shall we?" He cocks his head at the cafe.
"Shall we what?" you ask in confusion.
"Go in."
You stare blankly at him. Did he not hear what you just said?
Damian explains, "you can introduce me to this cafe and then you can think of me whenever you come across it. Look, they even have a Puppuccino for Titus."
You give him a hesitant expression.
"Come," Damian encourages. He doesn't want your ex to have any bearing on your life anymore. He wants you to reclaim the things you enjoy. "Even Titus is excited to try it." Titus takes his cue and barks enthusiastically.
You take a deep breath and bravely follow them inside. You look around nervously as Damian peruses the menu hanging above the coffee bar. If Damian can sense that you are uneasy, he doesn't acknowledge it. He casually asks you what you recommend as if this coffee run was as mundane as any other coffee run. His calm demeanor eases your nerves and you start to feel more comfortable. You realize that it wasn't nearly as tough as your brain anticipated. Day by day you make new happy memories with Damian and Titus. Little by little the happy memories outshine the sad memories.

Welcome to Hazbin Vale. 4 [Appleradio, Radioapple]
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZEURntrQOg "Happy Together - The Turtles (1967)" is the song that play on the background while Alastor is talking.]
"Good morning and good day to all our dear listeners. Alastor speaking here to you all from your favorite radio station on Hazbin Vale. How are you all doing? Ha ha, I am kidding of course! I don't care! I just feel like playing like one of those youngester that pretend to have a relationship with their audiences in order to emotionally manipulate them into giving them more money and attention.
But you and I, dear listemer, we know each other better than that, don't we? You know you will only get the most sincere forms of expression from me, because I know you would never, ever, ever, dare to lie to me. You may be just severely mistaken even if you think you are being honest.
First things first. I am doing great, thanks for asking.
I also imagine you can hear that annoying song on the background. I did not put it there. I don't know why it's doing that, but it hasn't stopped since I came in the building. It doesn't seem to come from any of my speakers either, I checked already. At least it's a nice enough song and it's not too loud. I guess I will let it slide this one time.
Anywhoo, do you want to know why I am in such good mood? No thank to any of you listening, that is for sure! Yesterday at Rosie's party to celebrate the death of Clarence I had the chance to talk with some of you and, oh boy, none of you do actually listen to a word I say it turns out!
Why do I bother to speak at all then? Should I just do incoherent wordless noises with my mouth for two hours? It would cause the exact same effect as to what people think are hearing here. Just put whatever meaning you want into it, you're used to that.
Some of you, not all, I have to admit, had the impression that I had a certain inclination for the toy maker that came to town recently and that is why I ran a background check on him. An inclination of a more… selfish nature.
I have no idea how could you ever come to that conclusion. I have done nothing else but to put in front of everyone my rationale as to why that man can't be trusted, I have done my due deligence to verify it and leave it all once it turned out to be a bust!
Let me dispell the rumours right now. I have never had a "crush" on anyone or anything. I don't even have the first idea of what going through that would be like. It sounds boring and stupid, so no, thank you. I will be glad to be spared such nonsense. The rest of you can have all the fun with that.
In your imaginations that is. Because clearly someone so delusional is never going to inspire good feelings from anyone else.
But how rude of me! I was talking about why I was in a good mood and I went on a bit of a rant there. For you, the listener who won't fell to such delirious thoughts, I will be speaking now. The rest can rot in hell for all I care. No, no, that is not a threat. It's a warning. There's a difference.
The party of Rosie was a success. Again, discouting unnecesary words that were said. It seemed that everyone in town decided to congregate there at once and Rosie told me that she was out of strawberry macaroon in less than one hour, per my recommendation. I do thank you all for that.
Between the talking and laughing, Rosie took me by the arm to direct me to Lucifer. I haven't noticed him at all until then. Not him or the fact that a group of people were around him, bunch of vipers all demanding his attention. I could just smell the gold digger stank from the door.
But what I really didn't see is the little girl hanging from his hand that smiled so easily to everyone in front of her. Two puppies were right next to her, as if to protect her.
The presence of Rosie was enough to disperse everyone so soon I was once again in front of the tiny man. His hair looked stupid as always, this time with a butterfly hairpin that, I imagine, his daughter must have put on him that morning and he forgot to take it out. Or he wanted to make a fashion statement, who knows.
Rosie was the one to speak first. She started by apologizing on my behalf for reading about his life here on the last broadcast. I wouldn't have gone so far to say that to his face but I… wasn't proud of that either. However rational and objective my worries were. So I am thankful that Rosie could say the words so much better than I could.
She told him to please not take it personally. It's only natural to be curious about new people when we all live on such a small town where everyone knows everyone. I did side eyed her a little when she downplayed all of my comments about him being a criminal and hiding something as me "just kidding around and playing it up for the show." Rosie, my dear, I am literally never more sincere than when I am in front of this mic.
Excuse me for having the best interest of this community at heart.
But I didn't feel like having an argument right there and then, so I let her continue. I should really get her sometime on here because that woman truly has a way with words. She could convince a flame to buy a gallon of water to drink.
The tiny toy maker smiled, with that stupid indulgent smile he has, and said that it was okay. I haven't said anything that anyone couldn't google by themselves and he was used to media outlets talking, he said. Whatever the hell that google thing was.
As if sparring me some grace, the little judge and jury. I wasn't that sorry anyway.
The more this man spoke to me, the more I had to wonder who did he thought he was. Looking up from his tiny height with those big doe eyes from hell that could swallow up entire cities. It was cutting out my breath as if his hand was a claw around my neck. I could barely hold it together to not make an excuse and ran away from him. You all can blame Rosie firm grasp for that, I know I do.
To make matters worse, that was her party, so she couldn't stay to talk with just one person and had to move around, leaving me alone with that man.
I never had anything but care and respect for Rosie, but I almost despise her a little bit at that moment. Then, suddenly, something brushed my hand and my soul could have jumped out of my mouth before looking down to see Charlie trying to grab my sleeve for attention.
I kneeled down to hear what she had to say. My mom raised a man with manners so I wasn't about to let a lady hanging. Her father could be a untrustworthy monster, but that wasn't her fault.
When I heard the words she whispered into my ear, I laughed. I couldn't contain myself. Lucifer asked what was so funny, so I was glad to tell him. She wanted me to hold her up so she could see the chocolate on the top shelfs.
You know, because her dad was so tiny that he didn't reach it himself, ha!
Children can truly be ruthless sometimes. I forget that is one of their virtues.
Oh, the red that tinted his cheeks wasn't disgusting at all. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that again. Now it was his turn to struggle to find something to say before giving me permission to do just that. I just love the smell of justice, dear listener, don't you?
Charlie, despite her unfortunate genetics, was a good kid that didn't move that much when I lift her up, telling her about the expensive chocolate exactly as how I remembered Rosie explaining them to me. On the lower shelf was the candy destined for children, full of fun colors and more simple designs, but up there was the fancy selection.
That kind of chocolate that comes from other countries, has weird ingredients on it or is just filled with some kind of alcohol. In my personal opinion, the ones with brandy were the best.
But somehow I imagined that Lucifer wasn't the kind of "cool dad" that would let his toddler get drunk on chocolate, so I kept my recommendation on the non alcoholic options. At last, Charlie choose a box with simple truffles covered in chocolate, but painted to look like jewells. She looked more happy with how pretty they were than with the idea of eating them.
One of Rosie's employees finalized the purchase, that Lucifer of course had to do without blinking an eye for the price and I had to my roll my eyes at the display.
We get it, you have money. You have a fortune out of your own work, you are the one true American dream. There is no need to brag about it. Arrogant much?
Ah, but my sense of friendship force me to tell you all that the prices of Rosie's Chocolate Botique are 100% fair and just, not inflated at all in the slightest. I am just a poor and bitter soul who only enjoys those brandy candy when my good friend brings them to me for her visits. The ones with the red wrapping for the next time, Rosie, dear, yes?
But coming back to my tale, I have to say that, despite everything I have seen, I can still very much be surprised. When Charlie opened up her new box, I thought she was just going to eat her chocolate right there, as she had every right to do. Instead she took out a piece that was coloured like a ruby and put it on my hand.
She said that one was for me. Then she gave another one in blue to her father. And she ran around the place to find Rosie, her puppies following behind, just to give her another one that I couldn't get to see. Rosie was so moved by this small gesture that she made a high pitch noise as she hugged the kid, assuring Lucifer that she was so cute that she would never eat her up.
Don't you mean that you could, asked Lucifer.
Rosie laughed and kissed both cheeks of Charlie before putting her on the floor. She also tried to feed the chocolate to her puppies later on, but Lucifer caught her on time.
They weren't even real puppies for what he told me so it's not like they were going to get sick. But it was so annoying cleaning up their insides if food got stuck on them so it was better to not give them any. They were prototypes for eternal puppies he wanted to make. Robots covered in fur called Dazzle and Razzle, just for Charlie. I did not say it, and I am still not going to say it, but it could have almost fooled me. Almost.
The rest of the party was splendid. You wouldn't even remember that this was all thanks because a woman died in a terribly gruesome and painful way. Not that I would know anything about it.
There was still plenty of buzz around when I decided it was enough for me. Charlie was completely out against the chest of her father and Lucifer kept his coat on top of her to protect her from the cold. I was saying that I always enjoyed Rosie's parties, but I needed to go back home to sleep early because, well, you are listening the reason right now.
Lucifer was bitting his lip and looking at everywhere while I was saying my goodbyes. He looked so miserably lost that I finally asked if something was wrong.
That is when he invited me to take a coffee if I wanted to.
Now, listener, don't get the wrong impression. I mean it and no, ignore the static, we are all ignoring it right now.
Listen to what I am actually saying instead of coming out with your own wild interpretations. I know you can do it. You are smart. That is why you are hearing the radio instead of googling.
I said yes. Only because this man looked so pitiful and pathetic that saying no would be like kicking a puppy after killing it's mom in front of him. Too damn easy. His stupid big eyes were too big that night, blame them. Like I have said many times and demostrated countless others, I am no monster.
So I said yes out of pity and absolutely nothing else. A mercy date. I should be louded for it if nothing else.
Besides, it's just a cup of coffee. No need to make a bigger deal of it than it is. Even thought it's still a huge inconvenience for me. I have a very busy schedule, listener, you see, so it's really hard to make an space for such act of charity. Damned my blasted sense of common decency.
Mmm.
Oh, but that is not the reason why I am in a good mood! Not at all! In fact, I barely even thought about it the rest of the night on the way home. I almost completely forgot about it until right now that I told you!
No, the reason I am happy is because I got to taste that ruby chocolate with my coffe this morning. The chocolate was great. Amazing value for it's price, clearly worth every penny.
What, did you thought it was anything else?
Does a man really need a reason to smile, dear listener? Isn't enough that he does? We all should probably smile more often. Maybe then we won't let our imagination bring out the worst of us.
I should really know where that music is coming from.
Now, the weather…"

silly byler ficlet that is basically 665 words of me projecting onto mike
@bylersrise @unsurebisexualcore
Mike knows he should be asleep. He does. What he doesn’t know is why he isn’t sleeping yet. So he slowly, slowly, carefully, carefully extracts himself from his boyfriend, who has been asleep for three hours at this point, to get his earbuds out of the basket they have tied under the bedside table.
Scrawny by Wallows has been on repeat for a few days, so obviously Mike just keeps listening to it. He physically restrains himself from wiggling around under the blankets with excitement for the song and gets the urge to bite something on about the third repeat of the night. He doesn’t remember where he put his chewy necklace so he settles for biting the heel of his hand, smiling all the while.
He’s so absorbed in the music that he doesn’t notice when his sleepy boyfriend shifts underneath him and seemingly out of nowhere, Will is pulling Mike’s hand away from his mouth. Mike turns to look at Will, grinning sheepishly and pulling out his earbuds one at a time.
“Mike, what are you doing?” Will asks, voice hoarse with sleep. It makes Mike’s smile wider. Will is adorable. “It’s almost 2 in the morning. You should be asleep. Also I can hear that,” he adds, nodding at Mike’s earbuds that are resting on the blankets.
“Me too.” Mike grins. “And I know. I just couldn’t sleep. I don’t know why,” He responds, subconsciously bringing his hand back to his mouth. Will pulls it away before it even gets there.
“Where’s your necklace? I know it’s hard to accommodate yourself sometimes but I don’t want you hurting yourself like this.” Mike shrugs. Will rolls over to dig through their basket. Some of the contents include various fidget toys for both Mike and Will, Will’s headphones, phone chargers, a shared water bottle (okay maybe they’re a little bit gross but neither of them care. Haters gonna hate), and usually Mike’s rubber lego brick necklace that he chews on as a stim but it seems to be missing at the moment.
“Aha,” Will mutters, rolling back over with Mike’s necklace wrapped around his fingers. “Stop biting your hand.”
Mike slips the soft cord over his head and immediately starts biting the rubber. “Shorry,” he says, muffled. “It doeshn’t hurt doe,” he adds.
Will smiles at him endearingly. “It might not feel painful but look at the bruises on your palms. Biting your hands hurts you. That’s why we got you the necklaces in the first place, ya goof.”
Mike unclenches his teeth, letting the colorful lego brick drop to his chest. “I couldn’t find it.”
“It was right there,” Will grins at him incredulously.
“Object permanence issues?”
“Okay fine,” Will compromises, having suffered from the same problem for his whole life. Just yesterday morning he was looking for his keys for ten minutes before realizing they were literally in his hand. “Still listening to Scrawny?”
“Yes,” Mike gushes. “I am a scrawny motherfucker with a cool hairstyle, if you didn’t know.”
Will laughs. Mike has said the same thing at least five times a day since someone recommended the song to him last week. “Trust me, Mike, I know. Can you at least try to go to sleep soon?”
“I can try,” Mike agrees, putting his earbuds back in his ears but turning the volume down so it’s not distracting enough to keep him awake. Will kisses his forehead and mumbles a “goodnight” before settling down onto the pillows to go back to sleep.
Mike loves him, Mike loves him, Mike loves him. He pulls out an earbud. “Will,” he whispers, nudging his tired boyfriend.
“Mike,” Will whispers back.
“I love you.”
Will smiles, eyes still closed. “I love you too.”
It’s not the first time they’ve said it to each other but it still gives Mike butterflies everytime he hears it.
That night, Mike falls asleep next to his favorite person, listening to his favorite song, in his favorite place: his home.
uhmm hope you liked it if not then kiss my ass because i dont actually care this was very very self indulgent 😘

the other day
(i almost called it yesterday)
i wrote a poem after class
called it a warm-up
called it cards
i did everything my professor said i shouldn’t
took advice from my writing professor
who said
“here are a list of writing rules
go break every single one of them”
i’ll take this one slower
because my theatre class got out early
and i got to eat this time
the soda fountain was busted
the cherry coke wasn’t that
we read of those who wrote
with inspiration of art
i’ll never write like
the way orphan made me feel
i hear i song
and i cry
and i steal half their lines
want me to do it again?
i’ll list what i’m listening to
“take it from me
i’m not looking for anybody
i’m sick of car rides
you lied while we lay back to side”
my friend (?????)
[for our audio listeners
if you’re ever out there
there’s a series of question marks
because i don’t know
what i want her to be]
said goodbye to me as she left
and i couldn’t catch her
i had to fix my desk
i sat with a pretty girl today
she reminds me of my old friend
the one i’ve written about before
the one i’ve compared myself to with a dying moth
i wish she’d look at me like she did
she smiled at the end
before fumbling her papers
and i almost relapsed on the spot
i saw a pretty girl in my building
she lives a floor above me
i think about how my elevator sometimes
doesn’t say what floor it was going to
and i always have to double check
i wonder what system it uses
or if it just didn’t want to say it
if it skipped a line on accident
if it just had too much going on at once
i don’t think i can call this a poem
what if i call myself a moth again?
i use dogs too often
my hair looked decent when
i left the bathroom this morning
i saw my reflection when the poem wouldn’t load
and i think i almost lost three years of progress
that girl was from here
in this city i’m familiar yet foreign to
i reread my own poem
and i’ve suddenly never used a metaphor in my life
i talked about rocks
and i wrote about moths
i’ll only be a hit online
- by online i mean i’ll get clicks
from my one online friend -
my roommate always keeps the door open
the same friend from before had her room rekeyed
i don’t know how to make this a poem
my professor would never take this
i keep getting snapchat notifications
of my old teammates from home
celebrating each other’s birthdays
i almost don’t even go home for mine
so should i use a simile?
should i add a metaphor?
i can’t say i agree with holly in that song right now
i can’t drive
but they’ve lied while we laid together
and they’re still going on about getting high
let’s see
what can i say here?
i feel like a fish in a fishbowl
- there’s my vehicle -
i can see everything i want
but i can’t get to any of it
- there’s my tenor -
my writing class made me feel
like i at least have a chance
so far poetry
has made me feel like i’ve been fooling myself
i can’t call this poetry
i can’t say i’m good at all
which isn’t the problem
it’s that i don’t feel like i can be
i’m laying in bed
the brain killer
and now i don’t want to go to geology
which isn’t for another hour
i’ll call this a warm-up
like i do
being the fraud artist i am
saying every piece i don’t like
was a practice sketch
so i don’t have to claim it
hey if i add a period here
can i call this all enjambment?
ah shit nevermind
there it goes
i’ll end it on this
anyway.
— warm-up: tenor

Larissa
> larissa weems x fem!reader (past)
> requested? no!
> content/warnings: so... Andi is back and uhmm angst?
> a/n: this was a quick write, this came to me as i was listening to Taylor Swift Live in Paris 😭 so yeah enjoy??? and yeah, the song here is Death by a Thousand Cuts (u probs know but just to be sure) and actually, this idea was a prompt provided by @tylerrynkadesha, although this wasn't the original flow we spoke about 😭
Tumblr media
“She looks happy.”
Larissa was blinded by the lights. Concert lights. You were a rising pop icon in the industry and Jericho was one of your stops in your local tour. An introductory tour wherein you sing your songs and cover famous songs, an example is You Need To Calm Down by Taylor Swift. Truthfully, she didn't like the loud noises, the screaming, the statics, the vibrations of speakers but she had to be there. Not just as a formal welcome to you, but she needed to. She had to be there.
Larissa remembered it like it was just yesterday. You and her were arguing because you wanted to forego your teaching position in Nevermore to pursue your passion. Singing. Although she met you in her first year of teaching, you were on your last year in Nevermore, you both had formed a friendship. She was ecstatic to know that the Principal wanted you to teach alongside her as the art professor years after you graduated. Yet on the very same night she knew, you declined.
“She is.” replied Andi as both of them stood in the tent, looking at your dancing figure.
“She didn't want to leave you, you know.” Larissa gave Andi a scoff and a side-eye. “Yet she did.”
“Her passion is this, Larissa. I hope you know that. She worked hard for this, for what she loves.” Andi tilted her head as she watched you reach for your guitar and take a seat in the middle of the stage. Deciding to get a drink, Andi tapped Larissa's shoulder, leaving the blonde to watch you.
Saying goodbye is death by a thousand cuts
Flashbacks waking me up
I get drunk, but it's not enough
'Cause the morning comes and you're not my baby
Larissa watched as you strummed your guitar. Everything was rushing through her head. Memories, feelings, guilt. You introduced this song as something very close to you right before singing it. And now, this song became something close to her too.
I look through the windows of this love
Even though we boarded them up
Chandelier's still flickering here
'Cause I can't pretend it's ok when it's not
It's death by a thousand cuts
Larissa thought hard. She forced herself to reminisce the times you gave her hints of your feelings. She forced herself to look into every single memory to find one where you actually wanted to do something she initiated. In the end she found love, but not willingness in your eyes.
I dress to kill my time
I take the long way home
I ask the traffic lights if it'll be all right
They say, "I don't know"
Larissa thought back to every call and texts you and her had. When you were beginning as an intern for Nevermore and she was grading her students papers. How you would opt to stay in an apartment 15 minutes away from Nevermore instead of staying in your own chambers. How she would call while you were driving to make sure you went home safe.
And what once was ours is no one's now
I see you everywhere
The only thing we share
Is this small town
One night. One argument. It all ended for Larissa on one night. Your passion for singing was something Larissa found illogical. She often asked herself how you sustain for yourself before you had your internship. Because clearly singing in coffee shops couldn't get you by day-to-day. With you singing in small towns near Jericho because the tips you get for singing in the Weathervane wasn't enough.
You said it was a great love
One for the ages
But if the story's over
Why am I still writing pages?
Larissa would always look back at your failed relationship as something she wouldn't– couldn't forget. Even when she was promoted as the Principal of Nevermore, she would always find herself holding up a picture frame, a picture of both of you on your graduation day.
My heart, my hips, my body, my love
Trying to find a part of me that you didn't touch
Gave up on me like I was a bad drug
Now I'm searching for signs in a haunted club
Larissa could feel Andi's gaze all the way from the tent to where she stood. She knew that Andi knew you still had something for Larissa. After all, who can forget a great love? Certainly not you. But Andi couldn't care less, she was the one with you, not Larissa. She actually felt sympathetic towards the blonde, because she knew your fall out was just a misunderstanding that distance and time didn't want to mend.
Our songs, our films, united we stand
Our country, guess it was a lawless land
Quiet my fears with the touch of your hand
Paper cut stings from our paper thin plans
Larissa didn't know that you already had plans for your future together. You started writing a day after she asked you to be hers. Your journal, the one you write your songs in, had it all written inside. To getting married, buying a house, building a family even though you knew Larissa has always been wary of babies. You always had plans, yet she couldn't see a future with you before.
My time, my wine, my spirit, my trust
Trying to find a part of me you didn't take up
Gave you too much but it wasn't enough
But I'll be all right, it's just a thousand cuts
Larissa watched as you gave the audience one of your blinding smiles. You were egging them to sing with you as you strummed. The audience knew how much the song mattered to you. But they didn't know why. They didn't know why, that even hurting like that, it was just alright for you.
I take the long way home
I ask the traffic lights if it'll be all right
They say, "I don't know"
Larissa remembered the last thing you asked her that night. “Do you love me?” And the last quote from your song was her answer.
