Tumgik
#i like sinnoh pokemon more tho and galar too
currently sad abt how paldea just has No culture
long post ahead i rambled longer than i expected
like ive been replaying gen 7 and like. the regional identity and theme is so strong??? the island deitys, the overhauling of traditional progression, the clear messages of friendship and family, kindness, nature, etc. and even between different towns, theres the tourist downtown strip, malie which has been built by those who immigrated from Johto, fuckin PO TOWN. but dont even get me STARTED on how powerful team skull is, being hoodlums of teens forgotten and ignored by the world now rejecting the island challenge and everything it stands for in pursuit of finding their own family with the other team skull members.
what does paldea have. they all need cyclizars to get around this obscenely way too large map or taxi money to go in a cab lofted by parrots because theres seemingly no other ways to get around. also the citys are based off those in spain and like. they type of gym leader there but ultimately have next to no individual flavor. nobody talks to you about the towns or world, the overarching theme of the game is "treasure" which is already dumb but also barely feels present beyond everything you do, the "evil" team is interesting but ultimately a self contained plot point that basically only hinges around the school, noone talks about team star outside of their specific scenes or the intro sequence. theres no god tier legendaries the people respect and look up to, nobody talks about the world at best people talk about that rich school thats so important for Some Reason and yet we still know so little concretely about it and. ARGH.
this game has such good plots and stories but ultimately despite supposedly being open world, the world doesn't EXIST. the people here dont have any serious beliefs or culture, they just talk about battles and sandwiches i guess.
Like, compare this to Every other game in the series. Kanto was. kanto. but like, even then lavender town and some other locations give more character to the graveyardless (DESPITE HAVING A GRAVESTONE POKEMON) Paldea. even while less cohesive, Johto is astonishingly rich even this early on, Hoenn has connection between people and Pokemon, sinnoh has. so much i love sinnoh even tho its a bit weaker imo but still has belief in good versus nihilism with Cyrus, with several towns having their own flavors, unova was unova yall already know its better, gen 6 region name even bests paldea with having beauty of life as a theme, alola i talked about, galar i never played nor got invested in but i feel like its better than PALDEA.
i say this as someone with 200+ hours in this game. i hate how little real identity it has. the fact that this main entry thats actually proud of itself is better than xy-KALOS IT'S KALOS. the fact that this does better than goddamn kalos in generation six, year of the "we got scared of regional identity and were dealing with a lot right now, we put gen 1 in here to appeal to the genwunners pls enjoy and buy game. also we're too scared to even do a pokemon Z. please dont pay attention to anything new this game brought to the series pllllssss" is ASTONISHING. FOR A SUPPOSED OPEN WORLD GAME!
and NO! scarlet and violet are not "open world" games. Theres no world to explore, theres no extra things you Get for exploring, theres nothing to see that doesn't look like Plastic, there is still an intended progression order you need to follow to even have a shot at enjoying the battles, theres no extra stories you get for exploring, no extra cities, noone who talks about anything interesting, nothing. The world exists only as a map you use your sandwich dragon to get across. Which, it's UNNECESSARILY MASSIVE. there is NO reason for the map to be this large.
BECAUSE THERE'S NO CULTURE OR IDENTITY THE OPEN WORLD FEELING SUFFERS. you dont get anything for going out of your way and exploring the world at hand, you just get like, scattered XP candies and berries or an HM or two. a couple trainer battles with generic dialogue. In a good open world, there are sidequests in various locations, that give you something about the world and offer a unique task. A random trainer at the bottom of a cliff is charming but... Why cant we help???!
Also, I'm not talking about DLC. Glimmerazzi, ogre ousting, the absolute dogshit BBQ situation are all interesting but I'm not paying Another 30$ for a finished game and also most of that has nothing to Do with paldea so cope. I will say though that the base game needed more glimmerazzi or perrin's pokemon snap quest. Like, being given the opportunity to do something that doesn't tie back in the story, just being there to do aside from the story.
anyways this post is a mess im so aurgh about this game ok. i love it and i want to see it be better. i keep trying to think about the characters in the world itself but paldea just has. Nothing!!! there's nothing we learn about them and it's so frustrating bc i Want to see that!!! and yet there's just. Nothing.

I just watched a YouTube rant video about how Hollywood hates quiet/gentle/shy characters and now I'm thinking about a movie adaptation where rei is just. Aggressively forward and sarcastic and witty in the way actual rei is not, and basically lectures laventon, akari, and everyone in hisui about The Correct Modern Way To Handle Pokemon (and also the hisuians have been dumbed down Watson-style so they can ask questions like "what is a pokeball?" + "what are moves"). The zorua thing (bc the filmmakers subscribe to the "rei was a shiny zorua" theory, and also they make the rei actor wear the zorua mask "for foreshadowing", but only like 25% of the time bc How Can They Hide That Handsome Actor's Face) is an open secret within five minutes of rei landing in hisui, only existing to provide drama when akari tearfully accuses rei of hiding their true self from her (despite her clearly giving them poffins earlier in the movie w a knowing look), and kamado thundering about how he can't have a POKEMON in jubilife village (despite... All the Other Pokemon actors chilling in plain sight whenever jubilife is filmed). Also everyone uses modern pokeballs bc asking ancient experts for handcrafted pokeballs just takes too long and is "too expensive" lmao.
This is prolly a popular children's film explaining how they transitioned from hisui to sinnoh. Anyway rei watches it somehow and has a crisis when they recognize some of the shit they Actually did in the actor's Obvious Zorua Coding and for at least 45 minutes, wonders if everyone Knew All Along and were just Pretending to not know to mock them. Then they realize the emotions at the time of reveal couldn't be faked... Could they? *cue panic spiral*
YES YES YES LOVE THIS
even better if some of the things the movie gets uncannily right are COMPLETELY coincidental stuff that there couldn't actually be any real documentation of (like idk maybe they include a few convos between rei and cyllene's abra but it was more because they wanted to give some celebrity a quick cameo and it would be pretty easy to add a voiceover for an abra, considering u don't have to worry about mouth movements). like all the big stuff is extremely loosely interpreted and hardcore historians claim it's "wildly inaccurate for the sake of entertainment" but still. because of these random moments that hit a bit too close to the mark rei is just CONVINCED that actually everyone did know that rei was a pokemon the entire time until idk maybe hunt knocks some sense into them. like it even includes moments where it's like idk. that type of comedic scene where it's a serious conversation but the disguise is messing up (zoura ears pop up from their head, maybe the tail or a paw gets un-disguised, etc) and they have to scramble to hide it when the other person is looking. nothing CLOSE to that ever actually happened but rei still is like. wait did that happen tho
also, since we're on the topic; I wonder if the fact that rei came from the future specifically is wildly known? like it's probably clear that rei has some more modern understandings of things, and there's gonna be some record of rei seemingly appearing out of nowhere (with eyewitness records of them actually falling from the rifts possibly being considered hearsay and taken with a few grains of salt) but it could probably be waved off as them coming from a region that was more industrialized at the time or just more comfortable with Pokemon (like galar, unova, or even alola maybe??) or even just. maybe rei was a prophet or could see into the future or smthin. but generally time travel generally isn't a very common theory. so then maybe this particular movie adds in the detail that rei actually WAS iesaki'd to hisui-era sinnoh once again for entertainment reasons. which makes rei even MORE convinced that this was just how ppl saw them but just didn't say anything

I needed to revamp my oldest characters... I have them as pokemon in my main OC's team but I also wanted to make them their own thing!
And as so, we have them as pokemon trainers too :> Raiki is the one on the left, and Yuuken on the right!
Raiki is Unovan and aspires to be an electric gym leader in Galar, while Yuuken is from Sinnoh and has no real type preference or goals as a trainer, he's just vibing. (He likes blue pokemon that's his theme-)
And! They are best friends and boyfriends as well! Raiki is very friendly and extroverted, Yuuken is super introverted and shy under his cool and distant demeanor, they're very different but love each other a ton.
Tho Yuu is much more reclusive and WILL complain about Raiki being embarrassing, but he likes it secretly. And Rai knows it well lkfnfglk
Anywho they're cute and fun and I needed to draw them more- So I hope yall like them too :>

Pokemon Badges ranked
By me, someone who’s bored
Honorable Mention:
Tumblr media
Orange League Badges
Those things are so fucking cool, it kinda makes me wish Alola had something similar for defeating the Kahunas. Doesn’t make the Rank cuz they aren’t in any of the main series games but to me they are just *chef’s kiss*
Pokemon Masters who? I don’t know her
In 7th place:
Tumblr media
Galar Badges
They definitely brought a new concept so I’ll give them points for that it just... it doesn’t do it for me? they feel somewhat simplistic and while the names for the badges aren’t a factor for my evaluation, being named stuff like “Grass Badge” or “Ice Badge” just doesn’t help. Great concept, fell flat on it’s execution.
In 6th Place:
Tumblr media
Johto Badges
Talking about simplistic... I do like how most of them convey their type with very little amount of details but they also lack some oomph. Somewhat charming in their basic-ness.
In 5th Place:
Tumblr media
Kalos Badges
This one is where it gets harder to define favorites. I don’t know exactly what to say about these. they don’t really feel like they belong together in a set necessarily but they don’t clash with each other at all. They pretty tho so... yeah.
In 4th Place:
Tumblr media
Kanto Badges
I have similar feelings to these ones as I do for the Kalo’s but this ones feel more cohesive as a whole. Some badges feel similar to other’s without looking like a copy-paste. For the first original batch, they did good.
In 3rd Place:
Tumblr media
Hoenn Badges
I just think they’re super cool. kind of a more complex design but not overboard with it. The nostalgia factor might be playing a part on this classification since emerald was my first game, but they just don’t have enough to me to make it higher on the podium. Knuckle, Heat, Mind and Rain seems to be trying to do something with the lil jewel, while Dynamo and Balance have the circles going on. Feather and stone... yeah.
In 2nd Place:
Tumblr media
Sinnoh Badges
They make me nut so hard. Cohesive, Fancy, Unique, they just have it all like, i don’t think I have any real complaint about these ones. They’re great.
In 1st place:
Tumblr media
Unova Badges
Jesus fucking christ. All that I said about Sinnoh badges can be applied here but these ones have something more. They’re sleek and different from all the others, the execution is just too amazing.
Also shout out to the “unnoficial badges” that appeared in the anime. You’ll always have a place in my heart
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s the end of this ranking. Hope you all have a good day/night!

tell me about your ocs tho
you asked for this
so it’s been like, a while, since i really looked at my ocs outside of zombies, and also my work with the most proper ocs for zombies isn’t published yet, so i’m just going to do the three from other fandoms that i have big fics for and if you wanna hear about my little zombies ocs you can ask about em. okay. okay.
this is also really hard cause these characters go through so much change over the course of these fics, and i’m trying not to give away spoilers xD i will try. my best.
the OG. the one and only. the working-through-your-teenage-frustrations character. i love her.
IMOGEN HAYLOCK
mcu -  read sparrow
so the thing with imogen is that i wanted to do something different to the other oc fics I’d seen so far in this fandom. which is not to say those fics were bad or anything, i love them, i just want to be different. I was interested in writing a character that was like....not the perfect fit for the avengers, or the girl that got along with everyone, and then i saw TWS and related media (lookin at you, agents of shield), and i was like, ‘okay but if you were just hydra by name and working by shield values and principles all that time, and then suddenly you had to get up and kill your coworkers....’ and imogen Began.
i find her interesting for her wit and dry humour, her sarcasm and her big attitude - but also, her frustration with life, the deep-cut anger that she’s carrying with her like a rock, her struggle with self-worth and the way she presents herself to the world, and her complete average-ness in a place where everyone is exceptional. she’s nothing special - she’s just skating by, actually, she’s a high school dropout and on probation as a shield agent, and she’s really only off the streets because hydra value her as an object that might hold some valuable information related to a twenty year old cold case that doesn’t even have any relevance anymore in the grand scheme of things.
in sparrow, she finds something to relate to in clint barton - avenger, but also human disaster zone, making things up on the fly, most overlooked superhero of the century, completely regular guy with one unusual skill. she has to learn to be open to change and to want to be a good person, instead of an angry, ignorant person who will blindy follow whatever order she’s given and pick fights with anyone that disagrees with her. she also realises a lot of things that she should have realised sooner - that what’s left of her family is toxic as hell, that she’s been blindy following the forces of evil for years, that she doesn’t have to be an angry child from a broken home anymore, and that there’s a whole, scary world out there waiting for her and she can go and find anything she wants.
the rest of the trilogy, flicker and swift, follow her finding her way in the world, figuring out who she’s going to be and what she’s going to do, which is very relatable to me rn. it’s like therapy. flicker is also a great opportunity for me to have a crack at writing a romance as a side plot, and getting to let this character grow and realise her own self-worth and that yes, she can actually love and be loved in lots of different ways, is so satisfying. swift is just the icing on the cake, swift is her coming into her power, in her own way, it’s her looking back and realising that she’s changed her life and that she could do it after all, it’s a satisfying ending, i promise. i’m going to share it with you one day.
the slaughter of the lambs is kind of the sequel to the very first ac game that i always wanted and never got - except it’s not about altair because. i’m ~special~. the fic is set 20 years after the game, in the Levant, and is split into 4 parts spanning most of marwa’s lifetime, starting in 1211 AD and ending in 1257 AD and following her through the golden era of the assassin’s and the brotherhood’s downfall. it’s canon complaint, but runs like....canon adjacent. it’s its own story.
MARWA ABADI
assassin’s creed - read the slaughter of the lambs
marwa begins this story as a novice training in masyaf, the only female assassin in all of the levant. she’s raw and half-trained, never seen combat, her strength and ability put into doubt every day - but she’s talented too, and she works twice as hard as the boys, determined to prove everyone wrong. she’s tough and scrappy because she has to be to survive in the world she’s put herself in, and just a little too self-confident, which leads her to a downfall but also an important learning curve about wit and wisdom and loyalty, and the importance of striking a balance between free will and service to a cause.
the rest of the story follows these themes on through the times of most upheaval in her life, as she struggles with following the creed and the beliefs of the assassin order and playing her role as a soldier for this cause, and with doubt and acting in accordance with her own personal morals and beliefs, which as time goes on and the assassin’s change, she finds do not always align. she has a strong sense of right and wrong and a strong character to back this up, and she strives throughout her life to become wise like her mentors were and to guide the world as best she can towards the right kind of future, as an assassin is supposed to.
i wrote this character to explore the idea of being a servant to a higher order, to being faceless and lost to time and serving your cause knowing that, and how you find peace with giving your life over to that. especially coming from this day and age, when everything is recorded and everyone wants to be remembered for something, i found this interesting to explore. as marwa developed as a character, the other things came; her struggle with blind loyalty and festering doubt and the careful balance that she needs to strike between them, the folly of youth and the wisdom that she gains as she grows older, and the struggle of being a woman living in a male-dominated period of history and dedicating herself to a craft usually reserved for men.
the first thing you need to understand about this fic, and this character, is that this is the therapy fic. this is me working through my own issues, but like also add +10 drama so that it’s interesting. and a romance plot, because i need the practise.
ANGIE SOMMARS
pokemon - read to go beyond your borders
angie’s story is mostly a sword/shield fic, though i borrowed some characters and stuff from diamond/pearl. the timelines are not canon. it’s set the year after the events of sw/sh, in galar. it follows angie through the gym challenge and her own personal conflicts, of which she has a laundry list. the fic finds her freshly arrived in galar from her home region in sinnoh, having run away from her responsibilities and the pressure of them at home looking for some kind of answer to her problems, or reassurance that she’s still good at what she does.
angie’s main conflict centres around her being the champion of the sinnoh league, a talented and experienced pokemon trainer sitting painfully exposed in the public eye. she struggles hugely with the reality of this position, and all the expectations that are put up to the person that holds it - she’s expected to be the strongest trainer in the region, to keep up a positive public image as the figurehead of the pokemon league, to be on the job most days of the year and ready for whatever it might throw at her. there’s always someone pushing her to be better, to present herself the way they think she should - and she’s used to being pushed and to being shaped, but there’s only so far you can bend a person before they will break.
angie is burnt out. she’s been in the public eye since she was five years old and competing in pokemon contests, and she’s far from the perfect princess of the league. her mistakes follow her around like a black cloud, creating controversy every time she reaches a new goal and drawing more and more bad press every time she messes something up. she doesn’t know what her own goals are anymore, and she doesn’t know where to go from the platform she’s found herself stranded on - she’s clinging to a position she’s too afraid to admit she doesn’t want anymore, and she’s scared to fall, or to break, or to look out to different horizons.
angie’s story explores the double-edged sword of fame and fortune, the satisfaction of being the best but also the scrutiny people place you under, the impact of ‘cancel culture’ on an individual, depression and anxiety and the endless circles of guilt in a toxic family environment...but also the hope of finding new horizons and finding the courage to take those first steps into the future that you want. it’s a coming of age kind of story, it’s young people finding their feet and new friends and new dreams and supporting each other through hard times. and it all ends well, which, to me, is the most important thing.

AWRIIIIIGHT here's tons of headcanons for my Sunnylemon future AU 👀
-Takes place 5 years after SM, so Ash and Clemont are 21, and Gladion is 22
-Ash is the current reigning champion of Kanto (and so far, he’s undefeated!) He was the first champion of Alola but that title was taken by Gladion a couple years later, who challenged him for a rematch and won
-Ash primarily spends his time traveling to all sorts of regions and helping out trainers and their Pokemon! He also spends lots of time working on the Pokedex to help out all the professors. And battling. Lots of battling lol
-Gladion helps the Aether Foundation with their research but also does a lot of self training as well. He's particularly interested in the science used to help Pokemon like Silvally and the UBs. Clemont helps him with this! Gladion's also the leader of the new generation of Ultra Guardians (mostly new trainers now, but the original Alola Squad + Ash and Clemont will always come help if they happen to be free)
-Clemont is still the Gym Leader of Lumiose City (and a very impressive one at that). He also has his own lab near the gym, where he works with other scientists to create inventions helpful to both people and Pokemon! A lot of them are electric-type related but they dedicate time to other types as well
-The three of them live together in a cabin on the outskirts of Nimbasa City. Clemont has a device that works as a portal so they can easily traverse regions in a day--it's made with the help of Hoopa's rings, and Clemont implemented that technology for the three of them to use!
-All three of them have keystones and z-rings. Ash mega evolves his Charizard, Clemont has an Ampharos, and Gladion has a Garchomp
-If you're curious about Bonnie she works at a daycare center where she helps take care of Pokemon! At this point she's already traveled through Kalos, Sinnoh and Galar along with Max
-Clemont and Gladion are both taller than Ash. Is he bitter? Yes he is.
-Clemont is the youngest but between the three of them he's the most responsible one lmao
-Both Gladion and Clemont's sleep schedules are wrecked since they stay up til god forsaken hours of the morning, mostly due to their jobs (and in Clemont's case, a late night inventioning streak). Ash literally has to drag them both to bed all the time and get them to rest. (Ash, meanwhile, doesn't let anything mess with his sleeping hours. He also sleeps like the dead.)
-Clemont "The future is now thanks to science!" Ash "Science is so amazing!" Gladion "Innovation at it's finest, huh?"
-They're basically nerd/jock/goth solidarity right
-Gladion and Clemont get heart attacks from how often Ash does something reckless (not as much as he was younger but STILL THIS WILD CHILD)
-Gladion's the only one that can really keep up with Clemont when it comes to super technological stuff, Ash just sits there and watches them talk nerd for hours with a super dreamy expression like "My boyfriends are so smart"
-Going off of this, Gladion usually gives Clemont's inventions way more creative names in response to his usual crazy long ones
-Interviewers @ Clemont: How's it feel to be dating two of the most powerful trainers in the world
Clemont, starry eyed and breathless: Amazing
-They all battle each other frequently. To train or even when they're getting serious--they really enjoy it. And they take care of each other's Pokemon and handle them all the time! Their Pokemon are super used to rotating between the three of them. Silvally in particular is really touchy but its super comfortable around Clemont and will sometimes just crawl into his lap and lie there :')
-Team Rocket have retired from their evil ways and spend lots of time playfully bugging the three of them. (They'll never admit it but they love Ash and are very protective of him--"You'll always be a twerp, but you're our favorite twerp") Pikachu and Meowth are best friends. Jessie keeps in close touch with Serena, May and Dawn and they discuss contest/showcase strategies. James works at a Pokemon rehab center and usually comes to Ash for advice. Meowth hosts a radio talk show. Wild, right? (Gladion has a suspicion that Jessie and James are dating but nothing official has been said.)
-Ash can't go a day without giving his welcome home kisses. Gladion and Clemont will hop out of the Hoopa ring and he's on them with smooches in SECONDS
-Ash and Pikachu have broken the highest amount of battling records in history. Of course they have.
-Do not ask these boys about battle strategies because they'll just go on for HOURS AND HOURS
-Clemont and Gladion actually met at a reunion party after Ash's Alola Championship win. Ash was so ecstatic to see Clemont he nearly bowled him over. Gladion and Clemont then spent a long while discussing their adventures with Ash and immediately picked up on the fact that they both had crushes on him--they were super civil about it tho, kinda mentioning "He's too dense to notice so really the chances of either of us actually winning him over are low" (while they side-eyed Misty and Serena who also had a thing for Ash before). Ofc at this point Ash had also liked them both for a while but couldn't really understand those feelings fully, they just confused him, so he nervously let it be until both of them finally decided to do something about it LOL
-Gladion and Clemont, upon meeting each other: Oh no he cute too
-Lusamine, Meyer and Delia love their sons. All of them. SO much
-Lillie & Bonnie: I can't believe my brother has TWO wonderful boyfriends
-They're not engaged yet but there's PLANS FLOATIN AROUND (their Pokemon, Team Rocket, and all the rest of their friends are in on it and are trying their hardest to drop hints all the time)
OKAY I SHOULD STOP THERE LOL BUT YEAH AS YOU CAN SEE I have a lot of ideas for this and my brain can't stop I love them so much

@diovalo replied to your post “@diovalo replied to your photo “ORAS lovers Unite.” a lot of ppl...”
me too like not to be Like That but an ORAS style remake of sinnoh is wayyyy more exciting for me than the new game because just fundamentally a lot of the mechanics dont appeal to me very much? especially if they plan on using main series games to promote pokemon go. platinum was my go-to game as a kid tho and i love a lot of the characters + pokemon there so im biased lmao
YEAH IM really iffy on the whole constantly linking back to pkmn go like it’s not popular anymore where i live or even available in china so I cant see the appeal. But I have to say let’s go was a cute remake of pokemon RGB w a link to pkmn go just bc it was simple & nice.
I just think the pokemon company is trying too hard to constantly come up with new and exciting concepts/pokemon when there are already so many amazing ideas that didnt reach their full potential on older consoles (distortion world, the underground, the extra legendary pkmn). we are driven by nostalgia but there IS a lot to explore in older games and making new generations isnt always the right answer...
Reaching 900-1000 pokemon is kind of thrilling but really. not worth it imo & galar kind of proves that... sorry to do this but wooloo’s design is proof... feels cheap it’s literally just a sheep w no twist in its design or typing unlike mareep or pidgey. Im holding out for evolutions but im just gonna say. the bar is Really low

Ohh... 19, 6?
which evil pokemon team is your favourite?
it is SO hard for me to pick between rocket and plasma. like objectively plasma's a lot more interesting. like bw easily has my favourite plot and there are a lot of moments that stick out to me as just some of the Coolest in the franchise in general. but also i have such a special kind of brain rot for giovanni and the executives. so ig uhhh plasma's the best but rocket is my fav<3
least favourite region?
oh that's really hard :( i do love all of them but,,galar maybe? just bc the region's lore feels so. half-baked compared to the others. sinnoh also loses some points tho bc the map confused me too much the first time i played a sinnoh game, i do not think it is very intuitive and i got very lost (tho i may just be stupid)

I love SwSh, and I will defend it, but I don't think its art style works for a remake: Galar is all wide areas and exploration, with huge routes and open areas. Sinnoh is linear and not as open, with a lot of narrow routes and enclosed areas. A remake with SWSH's style would have to completely rebuild the structure of the game from the ground up, and then it wouldn't be Diamond and Pearl anymore. (Let's just see how the game itself turns out.)
i feel like you could say the same thing oras too tho. but oras looks amazing and is a major step up from rse. obviously gen 4 to 8 is a bigger jump. anyway i agree i don’t think they should added a wild area or swsh style exploration or a moveable camera because it wouldn’t have work in sinnoh. but i would have loved a diamond and pearl game that actually looks like a $60 switch game and not some bargin bin ds game. the lighting looks terrible, the environments don’t look good, everything looks desaturated, and well the models 😐. i don’t know why the overworld models aren’t the ones we see in battle?? the swsh art style (not game mechanics) would have looked amazing, even a lgpe art style would have been great (and fit more with the traditional way pokemon games play). i’m also not a big fan of the 1:1 remake, hgss, oras, frlg are all way better than the originals because they add extra content, balance the pokédex (which sinnoh desperately needs) and redesign characters. i don’t need it to be a super accurate copy, i buy pokemon remakes because they offer a new experience in the same region. dppt are my favorite games but they have major flaws especially dp and these remakes don’t look like they’re going to fix them. and honestly i want to like these games, i was so excited for them, but right now they don’t look like $60 switch games. and honestly pokemon is one of the biggest companies in the world they have the resources to make good looking game. maybe i’m wrong and we’ll see a trailer in a few months and it’ll look better, i’m not going to hold my breath tho. but atm it feels like they put no effort into the remakes and it’s just upsetting :(
