I am so fascinated by when q!bbh talks to the eggs like they are real and when he’s talking to them as a standin for the real thing. I think it’s mostly a tone of voice/body language thing but there is definitely a difference.

(Discussions of q!bbh’s hallucinations and deteriorating mental health. I’m not a mental health professional this is just how I’m interpreting his story so far)

There is a difference between when bbh is delusional and talking to them like they are real and when he knows they aren’t but talks to them as a way to vent his grief.

Today and yesterday in contrast with the last few weeks are kinda what helped me solidify my view on this. He indeed talked to the eggs like they were here but it felt different to me. It felt like he was talking to pictures. It felt like he was using the pictures as representations of the eggs instead of actual eggs as he has in the past. He’s talking to them, not conversing with them. Idk if I’m making any sense XD

The moment that really made me think was when Bad said goodbye to the eggs the other day in a way that made it sound like he was fucking dying. There was a sober ness to his voice and a stillness to his body language that was so incredibly grounded. It felt like a soldier at war saying goodbye to a picture of their loved ones before going off to die in battle.

All of today felt the exact same way. Bad was carrying around a picture of Dapper and Pomme most of the day but it never felt like he was talking to them to me. There was a soberness and wistfulness on top of the immense grief that felt different. He made the whole party to celebrate Dapper’s birthday and acted like they were gonna come home while around others but at the end of the day when he was alone, he just sat there and quietly read a letter to Dapper. He wasn’t disappointed or distraught that they didn’t attend the party… he was just sad. Through out today’s stream he seemed to play up the crazy around others when before he continued the crazy into the privacy of his house. Do I think bbh’s mental health troubles are solved now that he got a good sleep? HELL NO he’s still hallucinating to a much smaller degree and has significant memory loss. It’s only a matter of time before he breaks again.

But I want to jump back to before his breakdown because the way he talked to the eggs was fascinating. At first, weeks ago, it felt natural. He wanted to express how he felt to his kids but they were gone so he talked to a picture just to get the emotions out. He knew they weren’t real, he knew they couldn’t hear him, but it was a way to vent his grief. But over time as his mental health worsened the way he spoke to them/his tone of voice changed. The way he approached them and his body language changed. He was much more energetic and you could feel how much he needed them to be real. You could tell he knew on a logical level they weren’t real but emotions ignore all logic. There was desperation and urgency in his voice as he approached the pictures and prompted conversations with the eggs. Part of him knew it was pretend but the mind’s defense mechanisms against pain hold no prisoners.

Then at the very end just before his mental break Bad had completely lost sight of reality. Dapper’s room was a special place where he allowed the delusions to roam freely. While out about talking with others he could handle the weight of their disappearance because he allowed himself room for his delusions in a safe space. He allowed himself time to indulge in the fantasy without letting it consume him - by keeping it confined to Dapper’s room.

This isn’t new either. Bad has been using this method of keeping his delusions/longing in check for months via his diamond Skeppy statues. He talks to them like they are real because it’s a way to vent his longing and the pain of being separated from his soulmate. It’s no surprise this coping method eventually spread to the eggs.

Then we come to the big break where Bad’s ability to distinguish between reality and delusion was completely compromised. It began with the idea that the federation might have tampered with his memories (the ticket could have been from a previous visit) and that fact caused his paranoia to spiral when Aypierre told him to look around his house for something. The combination of these two events in addition to the lack of sleep and build up of the last months caused bbh’s mind to snap entirely.

Bad doesn’t remember anything that happened after he left Max’s base. That’s two whole days he doesn’t remember and bbh doesn’t even notice. He’s in such a daze and emotionally/physically exhausted after the break that he literally doesn’t notice a massive blank spot in his memory. He doesn’t question why he was in Ron’s cell and why the cell was a mess. He wasn’t capable of thinking clearly because - often times - after a mental break like this or a significant dissociative episode, the mind is too exhausted to really process information. I’m honestly shocked bbh was able to handle Fred’s investigation as well as he did but then again manipulation and generally being a menace is as easy as breathing for bbh.

What makes analyzing q!bbh’s mental health so difficult is that he plays up the pathetic sad card in front of other people. His whole plan with Fred was to convince him that he’s just a sad loser who misses his kids - and it worked. Bad has always wanted people to underestimate him so it’s so incredibly difficult to tell when he’s intentionally playing into the crazy and when it’s genuine.

Like today with Dapper’s party. He was inviting everyone into his house left and right which is a massive sign he isn’t okay because he never lets anyone into his house ever. Was he bringing everyone here so they could see how pathetic and sad he is? Was he genuinely trying to celebrate the eggs birthday with as many guests as possible? His tone at the start of the stream, the soberness as he addressed all the dead eggs, was completely different than his performance during Dapper’s party. The drastic tone shift when bbh is alone vs with others is so stark and intentional. We know bbh is putting on a performance for others - he’s confirmed this in character - but how much of it is a performance?

Idk if any of this is coherent but the evolution of the way bbh interacts with the egg photos has been fascinating to watch and tells us so much about where he’s at mentally. Bbh has never been in a “good” spot mentally but everything since the election has been a seizeless downward spiral. He’s playing puppet master with his grand plan and is clinging to this plan so desperately that he’s ignoring all the red flags that he’s losing control, that he’s dying. All that matters is his plan. He doesn’t care if he loses himself along the way. As he’s said before, he is expendable. He’s a necessary sacrifice to bring the eggs home. He needs to keep it together just long enough. Anything else is a luxury.

I was thinking that no one else in the group other than Frisk remembers. But Jevil? He.. had some kind of reaction to it.

To start with, Yor seems quite tense while she's going out to meet with him.

A detail that the anime omitted, is that it seems he was caught by surprise by Yor. Is she so stealthy she can even sneak up on him?

He looks so imposing and Yor is so okay with his tactics I doubt she hasn't told him the marriage was just for convenience, so why didn't he go like "Nah ditch them I'll give you the cover you need"? He looking kinda sus rn ngl.

Final detail: the thingies hanging from the strap of his hat are the same shape of Yor's earrings. Nice detail.

It's interesting that Yor's demeanor doesn't change around him. She's still as lively and sweet as we already know her.

I love how after we saw how Yuri stayed up for days to catch Perkin, he fell asleep like that on the subway. Consequences!

Talking about people in Yor's circles not accepting her marriage...

Yuri is even VERY audacious in how he says he'll never accept Loid. Yor is way too patient with him, but I guess she can't help it. She loves him too much for her own good, and that was evident by the way she decided to become an assassin just to provide him with an education she completely ignored for herself.

I was surprised by the flashing screen but seeing Yuri run for the train as if he could somehow pull it back was hilarious. What a lad.

Yor is just now wondering if there's any point in her keeping her assassin job, when it's been at least a year that Yuri has been financially independent. It really makes me wonder where her money from her jobs really goes to... and considering Shopkeeper's behaviour, if she even gets paid fairly as an assassin. I wouldn't rule out him taking advantage of her in that regard over the years.

So I think it would be interesting to consider that Shopkeeper is trying to keep Yor in his employ by uhm... idk, brainwashing her? With all that "keeping the world beautiful" and whatnot. I mean, she took that job out of need and having no other choice, she's very good at it, (probably) is okay with getting paid unfairly, and takes at least an entire year after Yuri became independent to question whether she should stay in this job. She's a good and willing workhorse, is all I'm saying. Shopkeeper wouldn't want to lose that, would he?

Again, that's just an anime-only's blabbers. But that's what's good with Endo's work - just from one character introduction you can get a lot of insight!

I actually felt a little touched when Loid said Yor should go with Anya. Like I know it's because he has no "for the mission" excuse to go on the cruise and instead has an "I have a lot of work to do" excuse, but it still felt pretty sweet he thought they'd have fun together on the trip. Or something. Delusion what is that

I love their expressions here. Yor struggling with her excuse and Twilight, Best Spy of WestalisTM, being the lovestruck idiot he is, he just buys it.

I loved this. Devil Anya didn't even go for something "bad" she was just like "ANYA WANTS OCEAN, ANYA SHALL HAVE OCEAN."

At some point she's going to become the boy who cried wolf with how many times she's threatening to go bad if things don't go her way. Even Loid doesn't look that concerned by that "threat" any longer XD

I knew the cruise was happening, so I knew somehow Twilight would manage to get time off, but I didn't expect it would be that easy... and when we switched to Sylvia approving the vacation, the cowbell sound effect pretty much ended me

And... wow. I did not expect Twilight has that sort of fear for Handler.

In the manga we can even see how intense his face is.

Is that an accurate expectation or is it just Twilight's overreacting and overthinking mind? We saw how that's something Shopkeeper would definitely do with Yor but from what we know of Handler I would not expect something like that. I think it's mostly Twilight's perfectionism and dedication to his job, as well as how much he's accepted for it over the years. He's willing to accept anything, so he's always expecting the worst... even if it's not an accurate representation of reality.

It's also very coincidental that Handler was admonished for overworking her agents just as Twilight needed time off. It's probably Endo reminding us that deep down it's a comedy show and things just work and I'm just looking too deep into it XD

She's not wearing the rings anymore. Perhaps she caught on to the fact that they were given to her as a joke?

Yor catches herself about thinking of having fun on the trip and berates herself.

Since she's already reached the point of accepting she appreciates her part in the family and not just for the cover it gives her, I think it gives an extra layer to how dedicated she is to doing a good job. She knows it's an important job she needs to take seriously and concentrate on. Family fun would be just a distraction... and she's not used to such distractions in her job, after all.

And yes Yuri was in her life, but he was always separate from the job. Now she's got the two of them riding on the same ship!

And that alone makes her reach the question of whether she could just... stop working as Thorn Princess. My god, good luck with that when you have such a boss O_O

I love that we get to see Anya with Loid here. It's obvious Loid hasn't had fun in probably ever, and he's still not got the gist of "relaxing" yet.

I actually love the face he has in the manga. He almost looks... curious. Like this is something new to him, and it probably is. He doesn't have his usual calculating face. The "order" to relax was one thing, but maybe Anya's excitement is rubbing off on him.

Anya's reaction to their room was priceless. They showed it so well XD

Those are some interesting family dynamics. Were the sons mentioned this woman's sons, or was one her husband? Or was the boss her father and the sons her brothers? Also, interesting pin on the lapel there.

Similarly, this suit Yor is wearing is the only piece of clothing aside from her office clothes that doesn't have the rose-shaped buttons everything else she wears has.

The guy goes like yo will that Forger woman be enough and McMahon looks like he's like bruh you have no idea. She may be just one but she's enough for twenty.

The little kid is so cute. I felt touched when Olka said that he probably recognizes her as his mother from her voice and her scent.

Olka asks for a favour, to be let out for a bit, and Yor is kind and empathetic enough to indulge her. Most other bodyguards wouldn't be so lenient. Though I guess this is what, in the end, causes her to be caught...

Anya is being Anya.

I loved how they put shadows on his face for this part.

He's fully prepared to treat the ship as a place where he may be attacked, and to gather as much intelligence as he can for his surroundings. That is, until Anya reminds him why they're there.

And he takes it upon himself to have the most fun ever! For the mission!

I think we will all lose our minds when this man bursts into genuine, uncontrollable laughter. We're clowning him now but when such real emotion bursts out of him I think we won't be able to handle it.

It's a small moment, and it's shown in a comedic way, but it's also heartbreaking to know how he genuinely doesn't know how to have fun. What does this man enjoy watching? What music does he like? What foods are his favourites? We don't know, and the sad part is, he doesn't either. Twilight has no identity and thus no preferences, no profile and no favourite things.

Leave it to me to take a humorous scene and turn it into crying about Twilight hours.

At least Twilight isn't the only one lying to himself. Like two peas in a pod, they're trying to distance themselves from the family. Meanwhile Anya and Bond are like "They are my fambly and I'll love them forever :3"

She looks so cute! And I love Olka's comment about how Loid wouldn't recognize her, lmao if only you knew.

You kind of feel for Olka. Regardless of whether she was born or married into the criminal family, it's the kind of life you can't leave easily. And I mean, morality issues aside, Yor's hands are not clean either, so it was sweet to see them bond, and to even have Olka entrust her with Gram's real name.

Sadly, this move of trust is what caught the attention of dude with long beard and impressive hearing.

Just like the way Franky describes Garden assassins, this guy looks to have some supernatural levels of hearing and comprehending, since he's monitoring dozens of listening devices at the same time and still manages to hear one word that tips him off to who his target is posing as.

Overall, an amazing introduction to this new arc! I'm so excited to see the plot and the characters develop, and especially some long-overdue focus on Yor! It's promising a lot of action and character and even humor with Anya dealing with a "gotta relax and have fun!" Loid. Can't wait :D

Any Kink headcanon for Smoker, King, and Crocodile?

Ooooh yes, I do have headcanons galore for Smoker and Crocodile - King not so much, but I’m slowly getting into him.

Mmm Smoker - for whom I am woefully behind in writing some fic for, ah. I think he’s really very easily flustered at the start of a relationship. He knows how to do all the “things” - from sex to just getting a date done well, he’s not untested at things, but new love gets him right in the gut and he’s such a sucker for romance.

The flustered stage doesn’t last too long though, and soon he’s sweeping you off your feet. He can wine and dine you with all the smoothness of Crocodile, and protect you with ferocity you’d only expect from Eustass Kid.

He’s got a daddy dom vibe going on, and he’s into kink more than you’d expect. He’s definitely a dom, definitely a top, not too open to experimenting but not completely closed off to it. He can be a soft dom, but he can go so hard you’re almost wondering if he couldn’t have been an Emperor.

Crocodile is a top and a dom - his whole motivation is control. He lost it once and it cost him a hand, but he doesn’t mind the scar on his face. He’s far more possessive than Smoker, even if they vibe similar, and he doesn’t really “soft” dom, but he can be kind/smooth enough that you don’t notice just how tight the leash is.

His aftercare is fucking saintly, and it’s not necessarily a manipulation tactic, though it doesn’t hurt his control, he is really romantic and savagely in love when he actually falls for someone. It can get very toxic very quick, and I think he’s fully aware he’s yandere when it comes down to it. Much like with a business transaction he does give you a chance to back out - no harm no foul, but if you don’t take it, you’re not getting another one.

King… hmmm… idk if it’s the suit, but he certainly has bottom/sub vibes to me. I feel like he tries to do the dom stuff, and he might even enjoy it and be good at it, but at best he’s a switchy kind of blorbo.

He’s so fun to dom and tease too, watching that stern face melt and shatter into pleasure. That sultry voice of his trying desperately to maintain his composure.

But that’s the best I got for him. Especially off the top of my head xD

Ahhh the way Shi Mei’s death is described is gut wrenching. I was so sad reading that. But yeah, at least there are more details to what happened. It seems like Chu Wanning couldn’t do anything to save him that day. Or rather, he had to choose. I feel like if he tried saving Shi Mei, he wouldn’t hold the barrier. So he chose, faithful to his principles. It ties to Chu Xun’s sacrifice that seems to be supposed to show how hard of a decision it must have been both on Chu Xun and Chu Wanning. My guess is Mo Ran either didn’t realize at the time that CWN had to choose one over the other or he couldn’t understand why he would sacrifice his disciple to protect all those people he himself doesn’t care about. 

But damn that description hurt. Mo Ran’s heart was truly aching. And that comparison to a snowflake, equally beautiful and equally unimportant. Ehh

2. Chu Wanning is even more awkward than i was in high school which should be considered an achievement

Tbh I like moments of Mo Ran’s longing for Chu Wanning. And how he reacts when he sees Chu Wanning finally after all this time CWN spend “in seclusion”. Its lovely, but also hes so dumb for not realizing. This whole whatever was going on between them during New Years Eve celebration was just lovely but also so awkward. Chu Wanning deliberately giving him a copper coin dumpling? Absolutely cute. But also so awkward and just 😬 Instead of finding thousands of weird ways to flirt maybe just tell him? Idk its an outrageous idea, but idk give it a try maybe?? And omg that awkward moment when he wanted to invite mo ran to watch fireworks but… yeah. I felt it in my bones. 

3. Breaking news, Mo Ran, despite being 32 yo in 16 yo body mentally somehow ended up being 5

Sometimes it feels to me as if mo ran desired CWN not as a person but as an object. And he is even comparing him to an ugly box that nobody wanted with perfectly fine food inside. An ugly box only he himself dared to open to discover the treasure inside. And he is so childishly jealous when now that box is on display for everyone to look at. Its almost silly. But also yeah, its another time he treats CWN more like a thing he owns. And nobody else should see any worth in that thing, because its only his to consume. There is a fine expression in my native language for a person like that, and funny enough, its also dog related. But I couldn't find any translation that would convey all the nuisance. It’s for a person that won’t let anyone else enjoy a thing even if they themselves have no intention of enjoying that thing either. It reminded me of this quote:

Eventually, like a beast, he had known only one thing: that Chu Wanning was his. Even if he didn’t care for Chu Wanning, he was still his to sunder and to ruin. 

And like… Right now, Mo Ran seems to me like an annoying jealous kid that wants CWN for himself out of pure spite. Because CWN never gave MR attention he thought he was owed or that he deserved. I want to punch him just a bit.

4. Shi Mei is totally Chu Wanning’s wingman

Like he always tries to show Mo Ran that CWN isnt all that bad XD And I won’t believe he didn’t realize after all those completely awkward confessions and random hand holdings that Mo Ran has feelings for him. Like I won’t believe he wouldn’t see right through him especially on that boat. And I think he is smarter than MR and saw that CWN isn’t indifferent to Mo Ran after all. I want to say he would be happy if they’d get together but BASED ON COMMUNITY’S REACTIONS i feel like i will look like a clown lol. But oh well thats my very biased impression of Shi Mei.

Also it dawned on me while reading that you’re totally right @02cm, Mo Ran totally is wasting his chances with Shi Mei. I mean it happened before but that boat scene striked me as so annoyingly obvious. Like, he knows Shi Mei dies after he gets back from that “summer camp” in peach blossom springs. Its not gonna be long till that day and he can’t be sure it won’t happen again. And he is waiting around, unable to express his feelings that he was supposed to be so sure of. Is it… perhaps… a live showcase of Mo Ran’s only two brain cells almost connecting? Almost! Not quite there yet, but we’re on the right path. 

5. This book makes me feel disdain towards the characters and then feel bad for them in the matter of chapters njnjgviuvnjuigi im not well

I'm so heartbroken with the story of how Mo Ran was punished when he tried to steal the haitang flower for Chu Wanning because he had a crush on him. And CWN never let him speak and explain himself and punished him instead. I mean it’s kinda understandable but it makes me sad knowing that MR had such pure intentions... Also, that bedtime story about ox… Mo Ran sees himself in that boy? Because it seems like he always took the beatings no matter if he deserved it and nobody was kind enough to actually listen? And it seems like it will happen again now that he's being framed for murder.

6. Me when MR gave Xia Sini butterfly hair clip and made his hair:

THIS HAS NO REASON TO BE SO CUTE. Also i'm actually enjoying that smol Chu Wanning arc despite being weirded out at first. It gave CWN opportunity to be more relaxed around MR and the rest. And just like he can enjoy sweets as much as he wants without having to worry about losing his face, he can also just chill a bit because oh boy, my guy needed it so much

7. Someone really dislikes Mo Ran and is actively plotting his demise (which im not even surprised with). It’s either someone he already managed to wrong after reincarnating or someone of those many, many people he offended in his past life that somehow also got reincarnated into the past. What are the odds?!

Also, if Chu Wanning and Chu Xun are related (rather closely given how they look alike) and Chu Xun died and Chu Lan died and it seemed like there wasn’t anyone left out of their bloodline… how. Also what’s the self sacrifice gene because it clearly runs in this family.

I feel bad since it's the Christmas season and this is more Halloween, but as you can see this isn't stopping me XD idk if you remember, but I made a Slasher AU with the Toon Patrol a while ago. I forgot about it for a bit, but it's flooded my brain again and you're the only one I can vent to XD of course, you don't have to answer this ask if you don't want to ^^

Not much has changed, I'm still figuring things out. But I think I've got a better grip on it and what's going on. And since this is a slasher/horror AU, this is definitely gonna be dark.

Smartass and Stupid are still brothers. They resemble the skashers that are scarred/deformed, like Freddy (and I think Bubba? I can't remember what's under the mask). Stupid, unfortunately, was dropped one too many times as a baby, and that is why he's physically and mentally a little jumbled. But Smartass, despite how mean he is, is who Stu has latched onto. He loves his brother, and doesn't pay it a second thought when he's told they have to go take care of somebody. Smarty got his scarring, however, during an accident. Stupid bumped into the barrel of acid they used at the time to get rid of evidence, and Smartass was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Wheezy would be a slasher like Drayton or Sequel!Otis. As in, he looks and acts completely normal compared to the others. He's pretty unhealthy with his smoking. However, other than that, he looks like an average guy. Though he certainly does not possess the same morality as your average citizen. He still has his tommy in this AU, but he will get up close and personal if need be to finish a job. And he's got the scars to prove it (mostly from having to break up fights between his crazier teammates. But some of them are from his previous victims...)

Greasy is a slasher similar to Stu, or maybe even Charles Lee Ray; he also looks like a normal person, albeit a bit freaky, but I promise you he has a demented mind in that head of his. I do love goofy freaky Greasy, but I think Slasher!Greasy falls more under the sinister/manipulative personality. He's not gonna be so easily rejected by a purse smack if you get what I mean. And has no qualms with using other peoples' modalities against them- threatening another persons life if they don't do as he says. Also is the kind of slasher that falls under the 'virgin = life' rule, but not for pure intentions. He can't cash out their V-Card if they're dead, after all.

Now, my personal favorite, Psycho... WFRR!Psycho is already pretty unhinged, so as one may imagine, Slasher!Psycho is far, far worse. One can argue that he truly is more animal than man with how savage he is. Ruthlessly hunting down his victims with glee, and even going so far as cannibalism to top off his crimes. He'll rip his victims' throats, then take the bodies back home to store in the freezer for later. He has many, many scars littering his body. Bullet wounds, slices, scratches, etc. But the most prominent one is the one spanning across his forehead. That one, he got from the asylum before he escaped.

And of course, we can't forget Judge Doom and how he fits in all this. Greasy, Smartass, and Stupid were all on trial for their crimes. They weren't associated before, but they all were committing murders in the same town at the same time, and just wound up getting grouped together. Doom foresaw their trials, and they were supposed to be sent to prison... But then some paperwork or evidence was mysteriously lost (just like with Freddy), and the three killers were let go. Judge Doom, however, made a deal with them. If they would do his dirty work, he would ensure that they could roam the streets freely. Or they could be tossed right back into jail. As one can imagine, they took the judge's deal and eventually chose to team up.

Wheezy... Honestly, he was just caught at the wrong place at the wrong time. And by now, he's too caught in the serial killer gang to leave. He knows too much, and he'd be killed if he tried to leave. Not that he's a Saint himself. And Psycho was originally meant to be killed; Doom wanted to get rid of him, as he was an uncontrollable menace on the streets. However, somehow, Smartass saw potential in the lunatic and convinced Doom to let him bring him on the team instead.

(This backstory may change as I think about this more. But this is what I've got so far)

Oh- we can't forget masks. We all love slashers with masks. Smartass wears dark glasses, a scarf, and even gloves to hide his scarring and identity. Stupid uses a paper bag, though; Psycho doodled on some nice pictures on it for him ^^ Wheezy, at this point, doesn't care if someone recognizes him (unless it's Y/N 👀). But if the boss makes him, Wheezy will pull on some ragged, burglars mask and call it a night. Psycho still has his face muzzle from the asylum- and you can tell how he plans on killing you depending on whether or not he's wearing it. Greasy... I can't see him wearing a mask. He has no facial scarring, and can blend into a crowd similarly to Wheezy. That and along with the Judges deal, Greasy sees no point in wearing one.

I can't think of reader insert scenarios with this... Though I can't imagine it'd be really happy no matter how it starts/ends. It's a playground for dark writers XD

(We all know what's coming now XD how Poppy and Shiny fit in this. Shiny, I can see playing the role of the trapper(? Idk if that's the official title of the trope). Like that gas station attendant in 2001 Maniacs. Shiny in this AU owns a liquor store. She's been questioned by cops many times, as some of the murders occur near her store. But she has still managed to stay in business and innocent in the eyes of the law. Nobody knows about her association with the Killer Patrol; how Shiny will purposefully misdirect their victims to wandering their way, or how she gets frequent late night visits from them. Especially Greasy. Similar to Wheezy, she's lost the ability to care about what happens- but towards other people rather than herself. And she's crazy enough to actually knowingly associate with these bastards. As long as they leave her alone and don't get her in trouble, she's willing to turn a blind eye on everything they do.

Poppy however, falls more under the final girl category. Every newspaper she reads, every murder talked about on the news, makes the poor girl more petrified of making her way around town. Even in the middle of the day. Poppy isn't a part of some Scooby-Doo gang trying to bring the murderers to justice, though. She knows she'd be done for if she ran into any one of them. The way she sees it, all she can do is hope to God that her town will regain the peace it used to hold... After she comes home, as of lately she's had the misfortune of getting closing shifts. Sometimes she can swear she feels eyes on her as she makes her way home, but she tells herself it's all in her head for her own sake... Let's hope she's right.

I have no idea how you could see Lottie fitting in this AU 😅 that poor child should not be with any of these adults!! But I will admit, I am curious as to how five serial killers would raise a baby and how she'd turn out (of course you don't have to tell me/think about it if you don't want to ^^))

So um... at least, you know, this time Lottie has her mother growing up? Rena is a very big part of her life actually. At least her bones propped up in a chair in the corner of Lottie's room, are.

Well, she doesn't join the navy when she grows up, thats for sure. This Lottie taught herself to read and add because she wasn't sent to school, she doesn't technically exist (There has been no official paperwork made for her, ever. There was a birth certificate but Greasy was sent to burn it), and she's (along with Greasy) the most normal-looking of the bunch- though she is definitely part feral. Whenever Greasy takes her out, like to do shopping or whatever, he constantly has to keep her in check. Thats what I got so far! Its almost midnight and I gotta go to sleep XD But this was fun to think about!! I cant wait to think more on it later !

so, once again i shall preface that in celestial weddings all characters are nb that’s just a thing in their world, but the varying pronouns they use is just yeah for fun and makes it easier on Me tbh. so anyway, a lot of the pronouns in this story are kind of conditional if you use multiple (like they change based on who you’re with) and for viggo (and almine) specifically, dag tends to use she. so throughout this post dag will be referred to with “she” i just wanna put that out there so it’s not confusing.

so on dag’s wooing journey, the third stop is vukter, and there he meets viggo and his people. they’re definitely like a Maco Ass Sparta Kinda related culture which places a lot of emphasis on something called the trials and it’s lowkey better to die in the trials than to come back without finishing it… however viggo returned without being able to complete the trials because he lost an eye and part of his arm, and to make all the physical injuries worse he was essentially immediately shunned by his people for returning. it put him in a dark place mentally for awhile, one that he’s mostly crawled out of by the time he meets dag, but, she just has a way of like soothing his soul.

viggo is absolutely enamored with dag in her entirety, he worships the ground she walks on and is just stunned that she would choose someone “broken” like him to be her lover. meanwhile, all dag sees is someone caring, kind, open, strong, resilient, compassionate, etc just begging to be understood and loved by someone and how can she not? one of their sweetest scenes is when they finally get engaged there’s a big banquet held and dancing—and viggo usually sits out of the dancing because without an arm he can’t lead, but dag takes him to the dance floor anyway and lets him lead because she doesn’t view him as lesser and it just melts him.

absolute melting puppy adoration viggo has for dag and he shows his love by constantly doing things for her to make her life easier if he can. seeing her happy is the best reward to him. meanwhile, she loves seeing him relaxed and thriving and in his element—happy and cheerful and being around people.

i can't believe my brain finally, finally let me have a cal kestis appearance in my dream last night and it was the saddest most heart-wrenching thing ever 😩 my dreams are crazy, detailed and elaborate so this will get long lol if you feel like reading, go ahead, it's real "reader falls into an alternate universe and needs to find their way back" fic material 😂

so it kinda went back and forth between two different dreams i'm pretty sure. one playing at the university library and the other playing somewhere else. in the library one i was at a table with some classmates, working on our assignments, but there were also some people i know from elsewhere and we started arguing over something. then there was this girl who had lost something and i tried to talk her through how to get to the lost & found, giving the wildest (and very wrong) directions.

the other dream started in the middle of a yellow field of tall grass, where train tracks ran through from one side of the horizon to the other, nothing else to see. when the train came, it was massive, and i was participating in a heist of sorts. we (still don't know who the other people were) were successful i think, because the train derailed and we looted it. I think there was some big boss mastermind somewhere who told us what to do and we were all scared of her lol

so i don't exactly remember what happened after the heist, but the thing is there were these jumps between the dreams where in one i was this badass agent of whatever and doing cool stuff, and in the other i was "real me" in this world doing mundane things. although at some point i'm pretty sure i suddenly was an estate agent trying to set everything up for a visit except that the house was made of cardboard, but that's beside the point 😂 the scenarios from the library timeline i'm pretty sure happened not only somewhere else but in a different time altogether.

at one point, the events of the heist dream kinda come to its peak, and i now find myself in a big room (in hindsight i think it was the archives on jedha from the survivor game?) and somewhere in the air there's a bucket-shaped thing that's swallowing everything around it in a whirlwind, essentially ripping apart time and space. and as it turns out, cal has been there the whole time, and we were actually fighting together and stuff. but now that the bucket is about to shred the fabric of reality, we have to do something. and for some reason the plan of action is that i have to travel to a different universe. we (cal, me, and some other people idk) were all standing at a holotable looking at a map displaying different planets and universes and stuff (again, in hindsight, very web of life and destiny like. i just mashed everything together here it seems xD). and the reasoning in my head went like this: the planet we find ourselves on at this moment is not necessarily star wars canon and is outside of the known parts of the galaxy. so even if i do find my way back to this universe (which i was sure i could do, somehow) i still have no means to contact cal and or even find the planet again. so the search would take quite a while.

and there isn't enough time for us to set up a meeting point and time or anything because of the imminent danger. someone is already dragging me back to the bucket to be sucked into next wednesday or whatever, but i go up to cal one last time and he gives me the strongest hug and omg i didn't wanna let go. at this point i 'm in tears and as someone once again pulls me away and drags me off, i call to him "i will find you" and then everything goes black.

it's so lame i know but i legit woke up with a hole in my heart ;-;

my conclusion is that after leaving that place, the time and space travel kinda wiped my mind so i started a new life (the one at the library and the cardboard house) and completely forgot about cal :'( eventually i'd get snippets of memories, which is why the dream kept jumping back and forth, but i probably just thought they were daydreams or whatever, not my own memories. now that's some meta angst man.

oh and also at some point there were gorillas that shapeshifted into smaller versions of themselves with wings to fly around, and everyone was absolutely okay with that except that they were aggressive so they didn't like them. how that ties into any part of the dream i couldn't tell you but it was just a striking image to see these giant apes suddenly become small and flutter around shdjddkd

10. What work was the quickest to write?

It was either closure or the lack thereof, which I technically wrote 2 drafts of and posted over a weekend but I did have that idea kicking around since 2021, so from concept to post it was probably either with teeth we've come this far or I feel like I'm borrowing all my time, because I came up with the ideas for whumptober and finished them. All the others existed as idea bulletpoints or little jotted down paragraphs before Sept 1 but those two were completely contained.

11. What work took you the longest to write?

While the dark ocean duology did take me all summer after I'd initially thought it would take a couple weeks tops, the winner has to be the first chapter of omens and all kinds of signs which was at 60% done for 2 years. I honestly don't know that I would have finished it if I hadn't decided to post it serially, so yeah little plug for writing serially. It was really just to get back on the horse after having an off year last year.

29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?

I really like this bit where Greez is like 'wtf' in 'I feel like I'm borrowing all my time':

This all feels like an overwhelming, insurmountable task. Greez wishes he hadn’t been chosen for it. He knows how important it is, wants desperately to find the kid before he can be hurt, but it really feels beyond him. He misses the Mantis, misses the rest of the crew, even the little droid and the stowaway bogling. He misses feeling like he understands his place in the universe. His mind struggles to keep up with how long it’s been. A couple of hours? Days? Five years but wound in reverse? He knows it shouldn’t feel like five years, but it kind of does. It feels like the warmth and safety of home is something he lost long ago, or perhaps never had. Now that Cal’s missing from his proper place, it all feels like none of it ever actually happened. It both exists in his memory and doesn’t, like a distant dream. Greez shivers. All of this is very, very wrong. Cere is staring at the fire again, an inscrutable look on her face. Greez decides to fill the silence with: “I guess we have to hope they didn’t take him to Nur.” Cere whirls on him abruptly. “Of course we have to hope they didn’t take him to Nur.” “I just mean that…” Greez swallows. It’s started raining harder, raising more steam and smoke from the fires. The smoke makes his eyes sting. Cere waits for an explanation, brow furrowed. “Don’t we have to avoid…I just mean…you shouldn’t meet yourself, right? That’s one of the rules of this sort of thing, isn’t it? At least, it was in the cheesy dramas my grandmother was always watching…” “Oh.” Cere turns back to the fire. “I hadn’t considered that.”

Apologies for the length of it but I like it both for the 1) 'it shouldn't feel like five years but it does' bit, just leaning into time travel being WEIRD. Also I think I slipped up a couple times responding to comments and referred to 'timelines' but as best I can come up with for fitting time travel into SW worldbuilding....there are no alternate timelines really. Because time isn't really...real. So Greez is right, once things have started changing, they change in the future as well so it all both does and doesn't exist at the same time...idk if I ever went further on the time travel concept it would be along these lines, rather than having distinct alternate timelines.

2) the very human moment of filling an awkward silence with the exact wrong thing. XD It's such a little thing but I ended up LOVING the "Greez decided to fill the silence with" dialogue tag. XD

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?

I'm going to answer this one with a screenshot of my ideas list I found while cleaning it up this weekend:

I don't want to sound like too much of a curmudgeon (though the ship has probably said on that one)*, but I can't stress enough how surprising it was that one of my biggest 'nope, would never write' became one of my favorite fics of the year. Now I feel like I can't said I'd never write something. Growth?

(*and just to stress, like...for me writing/reading, don't take this personally. I use the exclude tags but please don't take this as like a judgement, I just have never really liked them and got a bit grumpy about just how popular they were when I came back to reading Star Wars fic a couple years ago)

About How to Seize A Dragon’s Jewel: first of all, congrats on getting to this book! It’s definitely one of the meatier ones, with a lot of amazing lines and passages that’ll stick with you. I actually forgot about Stoick’s talk with disguised!Hiccup, but just reading that tiny snippet made me tear up a little :’) He got so much depth in that one scene!

As for the bleak tone, it’s unfortunately going to get worse before it gets better. When they said this was a story about becoming a hero the hard way, they MEANT IT. Hiccup is going to have a lot more trials and tribulations to overcome, but the good news is that there will also be small but significant wins! This is the part of the story where all of the seeds Hiccup has planted over the past several books are bearing fruit, so he’ll get help in unexpected places (but also some unwanted attention from old enemies…beware! >:D)

Also, how old is Eggingarde supposed to be??? I haven’t read the books in awhile so I could be wrong, but I’ve been picturing her as a 7 year old this whole time, so I saw your comment about shipping her with Fishlegs and was like ??!? Does the book mention her age at all? I can’t remember now.

I admit I’m personally starting to grapple with the bleakness, because at my core I remain an idealist and I’m like “this can’t be everything… it just can’t.” Life shouldn’t be this hard all the time, and especially not for a kid - even if they grow up in Scotland lol. I’m currently pondering the thought in my real life too, and it’s affecting my faith especially. I must ask myself whether I had a really shitty childhood despite being raised Christian AND believing in God myself, and if yes why. Because the nature of God is, as per my current understanding, a nature of overwhelming victories, of ends and new beginnings, of faithfulness and reward, and not a seemingly endless struggle with only a few rays of sun shining through. So I’m wondering how that was able to happen despite my whole family theoretically striving to follow him. I hurt for everyone, including myself, whom life has beaten into thinking everything’s just going to go from bad to worse. I’m gonna be honest, I totally want my idealism back and I want it to be true.

As for Eggingarde, OH MY GOSH you are so right, I made an instant edit to the og post, they are both minors and Eggingarde is clearly under 10 years old. I’m so sorry. The thing is, she is described as a kid who has aged beyond her years. She’s an old soul. Fishlegs must be what, 15 now? Anyway, I think Eggingarde’s vibes are rather about her being tiny than her being so young. I don’t know. I want to protect her, and so Fishlegs seemed like the ideal protector, but then HE got lost, and so… Idk I care more about character dynamics sometimes, like the way Eggingarde’s and Fishlegs’ personalities are described, than their ages. Of course this is unacceptable in local context, so no. No shipping. I’m really sorry. Great job for pointing it out.

I’m so obsessed with Bad’s fucked up relationship with Ron and how he talks about/to him depending on the circumstances. I’ll try to organize my thoughts and theories about it all.

Bad said that Ron is a member of the family but it felt to me like saying ur pet is part of the family. Bad cares for Ron because Bad is lonely and broken and needs something, anything to latch onto but that doesn’t mean Bad respects Ron or sees him as anything other than a piece of his plan.

Bad is putting on a performance every time he talks to someone and the mask he wears is different depending on who he’s talking to and what he hopes to gain from the interaction.

When we first saw Bad interact with Ron, he was a tiger pacing the bars of his cage licking his chops at the meat just out of reach. After torturing Ron and getting a present from Forever, he completely flipped the script and became sugary sweet. Giving Ron a bigger and more furnished cell. Bringing him brownies and ice cream and a kitchen full of food. Giving him a fish. But the way Bad speaks and moves when interacting with him is fascinating.

I want to start way back in the beginning and examine what I think Bad’s plan with Ron was. Bad spent a week psychologically torturing Ron before letting a soul vulture tear him to shreds. Then Bad seemingly changes his entire plan on a dime but I think that was the plan the whole time. Break Ron physically and mentally then drown him in gifts and force this weird family dynamic onto him to warp his perception of the situation. Make it so Ron will want to give Bad what he wants because Ron knows the alternative and is afraid of breaking the fantasy Bad has created.

Bad will act with a saccharine sweetness and almost pathetic desperation to make Ron happy and comfortable one moment then come down to the basement with a mania and malicious grin to talk about his day. He’ll bring a much more morally sound friend to meet Ron and spend the entire interaction watching them like a vulture eyeing a sickly animal. He says they are like family but answers Baghera’s questions for him and treats him less like a person and more like a beast of burden. Important and valuable because of what Ron offers him (information and emotional attachment) but less important than the bigger picture.

Every time Bad leaves the basement or a social interaction, when he isn’t performing, he is just silent and moves with slow but methodical purpose. I do think he is attached to Ron but not nearly as much as he says in front of Ron or to Baghera. He wants Baghera to think he’s attached so she’ll work with Bad easier. We know Bad is manipulating Baghera and Forever and I think Bad’s attachment to Ron is part of his manipulation of Baghera.

Ron has given Bad pretty much everything he can and has become a liability so Bad needs to get rid of him. That’s where Baghera comes in. Ron sees Bad as sad and pathetic and broken which has allowed him to forgive Bad and will make him accept going with Baghera to live freely somewhere away from the federation. Baghera sees Bad’s attachment to Ron and it makes Bad look sad and pathetic and lost. He made a mistake and he needs Baghera to help him fix it.

Meanwhile we the audience know Bad fully intends on kidnapping Fred and is actively immolating many of his relationships. He doesn’t want to fix this “mistake” he wants to dump Ron into her care because he knows she’s a better person than him and she’ll take care of and protect Ron.

Idk I might be way off course here but that how I’ve interpreted the situation so far XD todays stream might change my mind but this is where I’m at now lol maybe bbh really is just this pathetic and broken but his other actions haven’t convinced me of that yet

You asked me about Patches recently, but how do YOU feel about him? I've noticed that his Bloodborne portrayal stands out not just because he becomes a monster, but it is the uhhh... idk, delivery? I did not even realize it was him until much later when I could recognize the voice actor ;-; Which version of Patches is your fav? (I personally don't think DS3 version could be bested, but ALL Patches are good)

Sorry it took so long, Kat! I had 1 hour of free time a day for a few days in a row :'^)

Patches caused me and my spouse a lot of conflicting emotions, because we started with DS3, and there he was, well… Not the best character xD I was genuinely amazed at how game developers could make THAT kind of asshole. My spouse killed him right away on the first playthrough xdd It was a shame not for the player character, but rather for Siegward of Catarina - a real sunshine! And then we found out that Patches really cares about Greirat, even though he hides it, and we started changing our opinion. As it turns out, they're friends, and Patches might even save him during the questline! Also, in the DLC, he shows up quite suddenly with memory loss, and gradually comes back to himself. It's so cute that by losing himself he becomes something of a knight, but the mean version of him is cuter still!

Then in Elden Ring we realized he's a king! xd No really, his character there is something awesome, he has his own, full questline and the way you get the "Extreme Repentance" gesture from him is divine! He gives hints, is simping for Tanith, and is overall a very cozy character that is something very nice to meet! And his gesture "Patches' Crouch" - oh my!!! xdd That's adorable!

In ds1 he shoves us off a cliff, but that was even cute! I accidentally killed him then because in my favorite location, I had giant skeletons running after me and I lost all bearings and got lost. He's very charismatic, actually, and his voice actor does double duty in making you love the character.

Well in BB his line "Oh Amygdalaaaaaaaa, have mercy on a poor bastard" is so SO HOT. So well said. I fell in love with it then. xd And the spider with the bald man's head is just a sample of what I want to see every day lol It's very interesting to imagine his place in BB's lore, but I can't do that. Not enough mana for that

And he's also Miyazaki's avatar in the game (I don't know where this info comes from, but it says so in the wiki and some articles! xd It must be just a theory, but it is sooo funny) So we have developed a local meme with my husband, like "everything is clear, the author is Patches" (все ясно, автор - Лоскутик. Так звучит лучше! хд) when any publication seems like a hoax, stupidity or something to us xdd

I haven't played DS2, but so many people are shipping him with Creighton? It looks hot and cool but I don't understand the background but shipping them sounds good xdd

He has something so cool in his character. Like he is completely fictional, but he is so "human-like"! Not because he is mean and lying, but because he has a balance of good and bad! He is easy to befriend actually, soft and nice, but also soooooo bitchy I can't xD He is that charismatic ass of a character, that is pathetic, but does nothing bad actually (almost???), but actually has a strong humanity... I can't describe! ;_; love him

"Ehehe- I'm not laughing Jun, I'm listening seriously!" Hiyori tried to muster up a serious face, but a smile still crept out his lips.

"Yes, I've been listening to you seriously as well. Jun's role as a hyena sounds good" said Nagisa, causing Hiyori to lose it and burst out laughing.

"Don't laugh out loud like that! Dammit!".

"Sorry sorry- But your reaction to my teasing is always so good~" Hiyori couldn't help but keep chuckling at him. His comment made Jun blush a bit, rolling his eyes in annoyance. It looked like Hiyori wasn't planning to stop teasing him anytime soon, so... why not return the favor?

"If you want to laugh so damn badly then here!" Jun lost no time digging his fingers into Hiyori's sides, causing him to squeal and fold on himself.

"wahaHAIT! JUN YOU BRAHAT STAP THAHAHAT!" poor Hiyori went crumbling down to the ground, Jun following him with ease, now opting to dig his thumbs into his hipbones.

"No no, you brought this onto yourself!" Jun's angry glare slowly softened up to a more teasy smirk, having fun in this situation even if the goal was to punish his partner.

Nagisa took a step back, watching the scene in amusement. Not wanting to interrupt their fun.

I'm pretty sure Hiyori's loud bouts of laughter could be heard all across the CosPro building. I wouldn't be surprised if someone filed a noise complaint.

The greenette would twist and turn, throwing his head back as he laughed all hysterically "AHAHAHA! J-JUN STOHOHOP!".

"Hmm..." Jun pretended to think for as he halted his fingers for a moment, allowing Hiyori to catch his breath. He then looked down at him with a sinister grin "Maybe I'll stop... if you beg me to~" and just like that he went back to squeezing repeatedly at his partners hips, chuckling along as Hiyori fell back into hysterics.

"WAHH! N-NEHEHEVER!" of course begging for mercy was hard for Hiyori, he felt like it would hurt his pride after all. And that's exactly why Jun went with that approach. It was nice doing the teasing for a change.

"Suit yourself then~" Jun then abruptly changed to squeezing down at Hiyori's kneecaps, causing him to somehow squeal even louder as he kicked his legs out like a silly 'lil puppy.

It didn't take much after for Hiyori to crack "WAIT! WAIT-! OKAHAHAY! I GIVE! I GIHIHIVE-!" poor Hiyori wheezed through his laughter, his face fully bright red all the way down to his neck. Even his eyes were starting to get sparkly from the tears forming.

"Oh? Is that so? Mm... I'm not fully convinced~" Jun then softly traced along his kneecaps, he wasn't a complete sadist after all. Hiyori would try to catch his breath but would end up hiccuping and giggling all over again.

"Ahahahaha! P-plehehease, mercy!!!".

Jun cringed a bit at Hiyori's shriek, slowing his fingers to a complete stop. Hiyori quickly gasped for breath, sucking as much air as he could through his leftover giggles.

"That should teach you to stop teasing me...".

"Oho please, don't act like you don't like it~" Hiyori sent him a playful wink as he slowly got up to his feet, causing Jun to let out a flustered groan.

I'd like to think they get better with time XD in game there 17 so very much still kids. I'd think 10 years after the game, they'd still be phyco but also more adjusted and mature. Floyd would still squeeze people who broke the contract, but azul would actually make good contracts. None of the shady shit that no one can complete. And Jade will still be a mushroom addicts is more open on how he is. ( punk jade punk jade punk jade ) they definitely took over their family's "bissness," so still spill blood, but for my own sanity, they don't do the extreme shit their work is known for. Floyd would still bully, but it was not as bad. Mainly goes after scumbag since there are the ones who either fight back or plead the most. He can't be bought, so if they are rich and usually pay to get out of jail, their money would mean nothing to him.

And as for the mafia part.... eh????? I hate that it's shit that acualy happens and I can't realy see them doing some of that. There out of the box guys. Maybe they'd go equalizer at some point????? That's probably but hope though

Hell, I've come across 36 year olds that still act like high-schoolers because unless you're putting in time and effort to better yourself, it's not gonna happen

Contrary to popular belief, you don't just mature and become responsible once you hit 18 at midnight. I still feel as lost and clueless as I did in High School, just with a lot more responsibilities over the years

He's got wealth, and good looks, sure he's a little clumsy, but the way he dresses hides the fact that he's riddled with scars.

Marco's needled a little because he's OLD comparatively, and he doesn't want to let it bother him, but what if Rosi's age difference is your limit?

Sabo's needled because you apparently have a thing for blondes, and this buffon and his flawless skin had wormed his way into your life, and he's struggling with that gnawing concern all over again.

There's definitely some good angsty misunderstandings because of it. Idk if Izou or Thatch or Ace or someone else helps clear the air, how sticky it gets before its resolved - maybe not until they're all in that hotel room, nothing else to really talk about other than the altercation at the bar.

Kid's a good one too though, and even better he can be completely unscarred in an AU, two arms and all that. oooooooh, oh no that would make the ANGST worse - cause what if you dated when he didn't have scars, and then there was a big fight or an accident and Kid lost his arm and got the scars, and you guys stopped dating afterward.

Sabo's PANICKING like Oh No, no no no Reader is legitimately kind, there's no way she bounced because of scars - but WHAT IF?!! and he can't ask because even thinking that of you makes him feel awful.

In truth Kid just pushed you away until you couldn't muster the energy to push back. The Tension between you both is misunderstood cause he wants you back, but you're mad at him for being so cruel when he was recovering, and it's Kid, he's not going to be the greatest at explaining himself OR even beginning to apologize. Marco and Sabo can see his desire to be with you and that's what really ruffles them.

All of which is to say, there's plenty of options to play with =3
