i seriously hate when someone is like “well xyx could be related to this mental illness or neurodivergence” and someone feels the need to come in like “well *I* have depression/adhd/am autistic/etc. and i shower consistently, am not messy, understand social cues, am great in school and work, and am overall a functional and ‘normal’ person so it’s no excuse uwu” literally shut the fuck up lmao
like what do you get by shitting on other neurodivergent ppl who struggle more than you do? of course having something like autism isn’t an excuse to do whatever you want with no regards to others, but it can explain why you struggle with other things more so than neurotypicals do. give us a little patience and understanding. don’t act like just because YOU can “overcome” your conditions it means the rest of us are not trying hard enough or are being lazy or whatever.

The idea that GRRM is anti Tolkien is particularly funny because ASOIAF is sprinkled with rather intricate (and even passionate) homages to LOTR. And I can’t help but think of how Tolkien’s Fellowship, more specifically the Hobbits, may have inspired GRRM’s Night’s Watch. Jon Snow, for starters, is in many ways a combination of LOTR’s Frodo and Aragorn. And in the same way that Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin are unexpected heroes in LOTR (because who looks to a hobbit as the face of an epic adventure?), Jon the bastard becomes the leader of a ragtag of socially disenfranchised men (in the form of the NW) who are anything but heroic. Sure there’s the odd knight or noble in there, but the NW is quite full of criminals and the very worst of the social order. The hobbits aren’t the strongest or the sharpest but they become the face of the fight against Sauron. And the NW, while being severely undermanned and under-equipped, has become the main force that stands against winter. GRRM even adds a love letter to Tolkien’s Sam Gamgee by adding his on Sam - Sam Tarly - who acts as a moral compass and counselor to Jon, in the same ways that Sam Gamgee is key to Frodo’s journey. And just like Frodo, Jon gets his very own pair of jokester friends, one of whine is even named Pyp. So it’s all very beautiful and nice, and we should talk about it more because it’s super evident that GRRM is a massive Tolkien fanboy. But I do have to say tho, GRRM’s take on Gandalf is exceedingly hilarious just because Melisandre is famously very bad at her job.

Streamer Phantom who grinds on Stardew Valley and proceeds to drop trauma hints during character conversations. His chat goes wild every time he says 'Yeah, my parents used to do that a lot, lol' or when 'Y'know my sister says I'm therapy bait. Don't know what that means, she's just sooo weird sometimes' Or something of that sort. So, yes, what I’m trying to say is that no, Batman does not adopt him. Instead a bunch of strangers on the internet try to raise a ghost child and tell him that his parents were kinda trash through Twitch lingo such as ‘not poggers’ and ‘f’’s in the chat, expanded by the use of custom made Phantom stickers, one with ‘Booooo!’ is used frequently for this.
And then there’s Streamer Danny Fenton who plays Kingdom Hearts. Chat loves it when he quits in rage due to the mechanics or when he just points to the characters in the game in a ‘are u seeing this shit rn?’ way. One day, he says this: “I got permission from my parents for streaming of course, I just don’t think they remember that I am.”. This leads to more and more Danny venting. Which lead to some revelations from his community, specifically from those who watch both Phantom and Fenton.
This, of course, leads chat, a bunch of strangers who knows from where to believe that, oh no, Phantom and Danny are brothers. There were other ludicrous theories such as them both being the same person, which made little sense since they both had different hair colors and clothing styles. Of course, they both streamed at different times, they both probably share the same streaming device because of their parents. And don’t you see how helpless Danny looks every time he talks about Phantom, something must be going on.
This invites chat to investigate about Amity Park and to their horror realize that the Fentons chase their son for sport.

dennis is an angry character btw im sorry but he is full of rage but that rage is not exclusive his anger does not negate sadness and fragility and insecurities in fact they work together and dtamhd was one of the first times where his anger was not used as a joke via a surface level rage explosion from him but instead explored the fragility of his anger. the way he keeps reassuring the workers he encounters (and himself) that he's not mad. when he tells daisy he's not mad but he is a little bit upset. dennis is angry and that anger is what makes him so fragile. he was upset and it manifested as rage bc he doesnt know what to do with his own sadness

usually i like to think i have a bead on what's motivating any particular cr fandom habits or talking points, but i only have a vague idea for why a lot of people just refuse to engage with luda & the rest of the vanguard as they're presented. and instead are focused on undermining not just their competence but like, the idea that they provide the narrative any depth that it wouldn't get from generic raider band #200 or an evil foldable chair. i thought we were all cool objective media analyzers who clap and cheer on characters who do bad things now
