Blogiversary the Fifth
Hiya, folks! It’s that time again where I reflect on the past year’s ups and downs and oddities.
For my art, 2023 ended up having a heavier emphasis on fashion, dreams, and expressionism, which was fun. This year’s notable art moments included:
designing a couple more OCs for D&D and updating an old one
the sales of a few more charms
my Art Fight 16-character mass attack (plus a small last-minute one), and receiving a precious revenge of Rill
a big-for-me hit with my Barbie/Matrix crossover piece, crossing 1k notes for only the 4th time ever on this blog
overall playing around with style a bit, especially when making more of my smaller, looser art like feelsposts and dream outfits, the latter of which I did in a bigger way for Fashiontober
participating in the 900 koroks project and more AGE projects, which led to...
...finally making it into the CR fanart gallery for the first time!!!! And then TWO MORE TIMES after that!!
I feel like I scrapped a lot more things this year—I have plenty of unfinished WIPs sitting around, for one reason or another. And oddly enough, zines weren’t really a thing for me this year (until this month), but AGE scratched the “big group project” itches nicely :) And I’ve literally been hoping to get into the CR fan art gallery since I started this art blog—back when the gallery was still a reel in the streams!—so to gain that honor thrice in one year is a dream come true in triplicate. (Looking back at last year’s blogiversary post, I see where I had specifically wished for realized dreams for us all this year. How fitting! I hope some of yours materialized, too.)
I don't quite know where I want to go from here, but I think I’d like to tackle some more art style and anatomy studies. I’ve also got an art series/merch idea from last year that I never made and would still like to bring to life, so perhaps I’ll take time for it soonish. In any case, I’ve got a couple commissions I’m working on now, and we’ll see where next year takes me!
Thank you to my 138 followers, the lurkers (hi, you!), and all the others who believe in me. Let’s use 2024 for a fresh start and try some new things!
Cheers, and stay hearty! 💪💚

Getting the last Allium species native to my area that I don’t already have in my garden this weekend!
All but 3 (of 9) of my milkweed species are poking up or more now. I’m not worried about the others. Two of them of them should be coming up soonish and the third won’t be up till sometime in June. Since I got the lovely surprise of finding green comet for sale last year when it wasn’t advertised on the website, I’m hoping I’ll be lucky enough to find one of the other species I don’t have yet.
I’m still amazed that my clammy ground cherry moved a whole foot from where I planted. Not spread, moved. My anise hyssop did the same thing, and it must be content where it put itself because it hasn’t moved an inch in the years since.
Also, my jack-in-pulpit is going to be female this year! That means berries*! If I can get a male to pollinate her with, that is. I know they grow in the ravines though, so maybe I won’t need to if the right insects make their way between here and there.
*They look very pretty and it’s a very tropical-looking plant overall, but very high in calcium oxalates. Not good on the intestines and causes a burning sensation in the mouth. The corms and berries can be eaten but only if they’re completely dried out (months of drying). But I don’t discriminate between barely edible and choice edible in my garden.

I am going on a trip soonish. Book recs for the airplane, especially if I can get them as ebooks (epub or Kindle)? Fiction or nonfiction, I'm omnivorous.
hmm, I mean, fiction-wise I have the distinct impression you've already read most of what I'd normally recommend. Or written it, in one case (but you've read Gideon the Ninth and A Memory Called Empire, right?).
But lets see-
Nonfiction (overwhelmingly history, I'm afraid, take with variably sized grains of sale):
The Making of the Atomic Bomb, by Richard Rhodes - What is sounds like, basically. The history of the development of nuclear power (and, like, physical science for the first third of the 20th century) that everyone recommends and won all the awards and gets called Magisterial. Shockingly readable, for the amount of chemistry the early chapters tried to teach me. Last third or so of it is, unsurprisingly, very heavy reading. So, you know, fair warning.
The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer, by Siddhartha Mukherjee - Again, more or less what it sounds like. A history of the study and treatment of cancer from the late nineteenth century through the then-current early twenty-first. Surprisingly kind of hopeful, for all the horrors.
Strangers Drowning: Impossible Idealism, Drastic Choices, and the Urge to Help, by Larissa MacFarquhar - A book length study of, well, people who take ethical obligations seriously? Chapters alternate between case studies of, like, a woman who left her life behind to be a nurse in Sandinista Nicaragua after she heard about the need for some and more zoomed out intellectual and cultural histories of extreme altruism and moral obligation as ideas.
The War That Ended Peace: The Road to 1914, by Margaret Macmillan - Another self-explanatory title! Nonfiction's great like that. A shockingly readable and funny history of Belle Epqoue Europe and the leadup to World War One. If the topic's even slightly interesting to you, really couldn't recommend this one enough.
The Verge: Reformation, Renaissance, and Forty Years that Shook the World, by Patrick Wyman - It's what the title says it is, but more broadly it's basically a thesis on the causes of the Great Divergence ('Why Europe?', basically), with each chapter zeroing in on a different factor and explaining it at ground level by examining the life of one historical figure or another whose a good entry point into it. (Well, 'ground level', one of them is about Charles V, but you get what I mean?). Also pretty heavy reading in terms of subject matter, what with all the enclosures and slave trades and military revolutions and etc.
Fiction
Annihilation/The Southern Reach Trilogy, by Jeff Vandermeer - Non-Lovecraftian, well-done, properly eldritch cosmic horror. I will forever remain bitter that the movie basically nailed the aesthetics while getting all the themes and characters exactly wrong. First book is absolutely the best, but I love the Biologist as a protagonist enough that I can't not recommend getting through Acceptance for the conclusion to her arc.
The Ballad of Black Tom, by Richard Lavalle - Probably my favorite of the whole subgenre of Lovecraft deconstructions/subversions/remixes. Certainly the one that works the best as horror and not just urban fantasy with Shoggoths and racism ; probably simultaneously the most faithful and the most directly spitting in old Howard's eye. "The Horror At Red Hook, but through the eyes of a cultist', basically. Ish.
Song of Achilles, by Madeline Miller - Absolutely beautifully written retelling of, well, the life and death of Achilles, told from the perspective of Patroclus. Not really much to say beyond that, really?
This Is How You Lose The Time War, by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone - Is "Time Travelling Spycraft Transhumanist Enemies To Lovers Lesbian Romance" a thing? I mean, it should be. Probably the best book I read in 2020.
The Quantum Thief by Hannu Rajaniemi - Okay proper high transhumanism. Um, so, it's Arsène Lupin, except in a gonzo sci world where he's been trapped in a prison where thousands of copies of himself are trapped in an endlessly iterating prisoners dilemma before his old flame (one of the posthuman gods of the inner system whose long term goal is rewriting the laws of physics to abolish entropy) sends a cybernetic mercenary from the Oort Cloud to break him out so he can steal back his memories for her (hidden somewhere on the clockwork city of Mars). It just gets weirder from there. Also Mieli is great.
The Ten Thousand Doors of January, by Alix E. Harrow - Turn of the (20th) century Portal Fantasy series about the young ward of a robber baron who keeps her father constantly travelling around the world digging about rarities and antiques for him to lock away in his private museum, who in her adolescence begins stumbling across doors to other worlds. Absolutely charming and with some passages I had to spend a minute or two just rereading again and again.
Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik - Very very very loosely based off Rumpelstiltskin, insofar as there's a poor girl and a faerie and a lot of gold changing hands. Russian-ish fantasy setting about a moneylender's daughter and a noble heiress and a peasant girl, and the dread king of Winter and a mortal prince whose made a binding pact with a demon of flame.
Downbelow Station, by C. J. Cherryh - Classic space opera about a prosperous trading station orbiting one of the only lifebearing worlds yet discovered, suddenly on the front lines as Earth's hold on its colonies finally collapses. Really hard to explain in any detail without going into way too much detail, except that it's the most, well, history-like bit of genre fiction I can really recall reading, and a big part of that is having like three dozen POVs and no real protagonist and zero sentimentality towards anyone. (to me this is a compliment)
....okay yeah that kind of got away from me. Zero idea how many of them are available on screen readers, I'm afraid (though I'd assume most?). Hope at least a couple look interesting!

Happy birthday! I think I saw some tags saying you always felt down around this time and idk if that’s directly bc of your birthday, in which case sorry please ignore this if you’d rather! But I just wanted to say I appreciate you as a mutual and I hope you have a good day!
(Ps I bought Suzerain during the summer sale as per your orders Mr. President🫡 Haven’t started playing yet but I’m sure it’ll be fun when I do!)
aaaa thank you SO much, that's really sweet! you are right, there's always this very strange mix of emotions when it comes to my birthday but i'm definitely trying to stay positive and think about all the good things i have, and i have plenty! i really love seeing you on my dash as well, thank you for being here 💕
and MWAHAHAHA GOOD, you're ready to rule sordland now! my advice is that you go in blind first, do what i call a 'moral round' and see what happens, hopefully it'll go better than mine! can't wait to see that! (and another thing, the devs are gonna release an update to the game...soonish? it's free since you already got the game, it's gonna update the visuals, add more content, more insight into specific parts of the story, etc etc, just letting you know if you wanted to wait until then to get that extra content from the start!)

A Gift From The Universe [10/?]
Pairing: SasuSaku. ShiItaIzu, InoSai Rating: M (for eventual sexual content) Disclaimer Day’s Notes: hello! I finally updated AGFTU 3 weeks ago but I’m updating it publicly now (a week early too). I’ve been under the weather lately but I wanted to share something with everyone. I’ve also been busy with zine stuff. Just a heads up, if you missed “Seasons” by @sasusakuzine you can still get the digital copy, misprints, and there will be a leftovers sale soonish. I would head to the blog to get more info. I’m also on Patreon. I have exclusive fics which are like a gift from me to readers for supporting me. I also update my multichaps there a month before everywhere else. The next update coming up is for Vampfiction because it was commissioned. I hope you like this chapter. I know it’s been a while.
Here’s the link to it on FF
Chapter Ten: Not a Word
If Izumi sighed one more time, Hana was going to kick her out of her clinic.
“I know it’s not the most exciting job, kid,” Pakkun, one of Kakashi’s summons drolled, “but you can at least fake like you’re enjoying yourself.”
Izumi finished clipping the little pug’s nails and scratched behind his ear. It was interesting dealing with dogs as opposed to cats. The cats of the Uchiha were extremely selective with who they were affectionate with.
“Remind Kakashi that Urisha and Akino are due for their check up,” Hana called from her exam room. “If I have to go hunt him down again he’s not going to like it.”
“Noted,” the little pug responded before disappearing into a puff of smoke.
Izumi cleaned up the clippings and slumped over to the desk in the corner. She thought working with her best friend would distract her, but grooming ninken wasn’t the same as the spark of joy in an academy student’s eyes when they finally nailed a technique they were struggling with.
I was highly recommended by my old sensei too…
Izumi had really enjoyed teaching Sakura and even Sasuke when he couldn’t feign disinterest.
“Oh. Remind the little Uchiha that his Shiba Inu is due for a check up as well, please. And look over the schedule and see who is due for a reminder.”
Hana had offered her the job to help keep her mind off of the one she was declined, but it wasn’t the same. The only positive was that Hana didn’t walk on eggshells around her as if she were delicate and needed someone to censor themselves around her.
Those stupid, stupid boys of hers.
She wanted to vent, to rage. She wanted to hit the training grounds and slam her fists and arms against a wooden dummy until her knuckles bled. To set the fields ablaze with a strong katon.
As dejected as Izumi had been when she got the news, she was more pissed off.
She thought she could do some good teaching the next generation of shinobi. She had all of the right credentials and was recommended by her former sensei and several of her past squad leaders.
And yet she was told to apply for the military police force.
None of it made sense to her.

Also, a big thank you to Knifewaifu for posting about the Clip Studio Paint sale that is going on, I went ahead and got the Pro version since I’m using free art programs at the moment. I hope to have some digital artwork or scribbles here soonish just to post in good fun as I practice getting used to the tablet more.

Old Books & New Flames (11/?)
So soon we’re going to reach the end! Well, maybe not slow enough for @strangelock221b, but maybe four or five more chapters, counting the epilogue? Not sure, but it’s going to start wrapping up soonish. But enjoy this nice little twist!
Old Books & New Flames - When Sebastian Moran asks local bookstore owner Molly Hooper for a job, all he wants is a second chance to live the life he should have been living before prison. What Molly gets is more than a loyal employee and good friend. What she ends up with is what she had always wanted her entire life: happiness.
READ CHAPTER 1 | READ CHAPTER 11 | HELP ME SURVIVE? | COMMISSION ME? | BUY ME A KOFI?
That evening, after the shop closed for the day and some time was spent getting the place covered by a watchful eye, Molly and Seb walked around to the back side of the pub where Lestrade, Sally, and Amelia lived. That supposedly had been the way it was constructed, to have housing in the back, but you would never guess there was a pub there with how quiet and courteous the villagers usually were. When the last call sounded, out they went, and there had rarely been a brawl so long as Greg had run it.
According to Sally, he was an ex-copper out of London, like she was, except he’d been injured and pensioned off, and when he heard about the chance to buy into the pub by a certain mutual acquaintance of theirs he went for it. Eventually, he bought his partner out and ran the place with Amelia’s boyfriend’s father as the other bartender. The two kids had hit it off immediately and the idea was that if she didn’t take over the mechanic shop or do something else after uni if they were to marry they’d inherit the pub.
And Sally had walked into their lives almost by accident, but after having had a suspect die in her custody and being shaken by that, she’d been looking for a different avenue in life. The fact that Greg understood had influenced her decision to stay and eventually marry him and adopt Amelia, and they were now one happy bit of Molly’s extended family.
She wasn’t at all surprised that there was no wine at the meal. Not just because Seb was in recovery, but Sally had said Greg wanted to make sure the pregnancy went well so no alcohol whatsoever. She was sure there would be wine again later, once everything was a more settled with Seb and Sally’s had the baby, but tonight the pressed non-alcoholic cider and the coffee had been enough. Greg had cooked, as he was quite skilled with the pub meals and other things, finally getting to devote time to coming up with new dishes, and the meal had been eaten with much cheer and happiness throughout.
Greg leaned in his chair and looked at Seb, pointing at him. “You know, you’re the type of man I appreciate,” he said.
“Oh?” Seb asked.
“You paid your debt and you’re doing your best to be a part of society in the best way. What you’re doing for Molly...I know I appreciate it, and Sally does, and we’re glad you’re here.” He picked up his cup and raised it. “To Sebastian’s arrival in the village!”
“To Seb!” the others said, raising their glasses, and Molly looked over to see Seb looked happy. She reached under the table and grasped his hand, squeezing it, and getting a comforting squeeze in return.
“To you,” she said quietly, taking a sip of the drink that was in her other hand.
“Thanks,” he said, having some of his coffee after raising it towards Greg. “This is a good village. I’m glad I’m settling here.”
“And it would be better if it wasn’t for Moriarty,” Sally said. “She turned to Molly. “I was telling him about the theft of the books and really, once Sherlock gets them back, we should confront him.”
“It would just make it worse,” Molly said. “He’s...slippery, like a snake? He’ll just squirm out of it and then make our lives hell at the shop. No, we’ll just get the books back and put them in the online shop for sale like Martha had intended. Moriarty can just...leave us alone.”
“Molly’s right,” Greg said. “But I can talk to a few people in London. If Sherlock is looking into his activities, I can have him give the evidence to certain friends f mine and maybe we can get him out of your hair once and for all.”
“One could only hope,” Molly said.
Greg turned to Seb. “You know, if you want to have some time to actually court Molly as she deserves, Charlie can watch the shop more. I trust him with my daughter, I’d trust him with the shop. There’s going to be a village faire next weekend and I could persuade him to cover a night for you.”
“Are you going to let him take Amelia into Oxford for that film they want to see?” Sally asked with a smile.
“And let them stay overnight,” Greg said. “If he’ll do us this favour.”
“Oh, that’s a big step,” Molly said with a smile.
“They’re good kids, and she’s about to go into her gap year. If I don’t trust her now, then what’s the point? Soon she’ll be an adult and can do what she wants, and if she wants to stay in a hostel overnight with her boyfriend so they can see a special film, then that’s not so bad, is it? At least I know they’d be careful.”
“Oh, you are a good father,” Seb said with a grin. “When I was a lad we had the fear of God put into us any time we were going to be around the lasses, even if it was completely chaperoned.”
“That’s how I was raised,” Greg said. “But it’s new times. New parenting rules should be implemented, and if they work with Amelia hopefully they’ll work with the new one.” He turned and grinned at Sally. “Though I have to say, Sally’s been a good influence on me as a parent. I couldn’t do it without her.” He reached over and took Sally’s hand in his, pulling it up to kiss her knuckles.
“Damn straight,” Sally said, and the table laughed at that.
The conversation continued for a bit longer and then as they were going to start the dessert there was a knock at the door. Greg went to go get it and then a few minutes later came in with the head of the village police. “As I said, he’s been here since he left the shop,” Greg said, gesturing to Seb. “So there’s no way he was the driver.”
“What’s going on?” Molly asked, gripping Seb’s hand.
“There was a report a drunken driver hit some of the cars on the high street,” the head of the police said. “It had been mentioned that Mr. Moran had been arrested for vehicular homicide, and...”
“No, he’s been here with us since we started dinner, and at the shop with me since it closed for the evening,” Molly said. “I’ll swear it on a bible.”
“Between you and me, Molly, I doubted it was him,” the man said. “I recognized who called in the report and I swear, he’s just trying to stir up more trouble.”
“Moriarty?” Greg asked, and the man nodded. “Bastard.”
“We’re not even going to consider Mr. Moran for this, in all honesty, and focus on Jim. He’s taking this dismissal of your affections all wrong.”
“Yes, he is,” Molly said softly. This was the last straw. Maybe she’d go against her own thoughts and have a word with him about this. That might be what was needed after all...

Alright so we’re somewhere on the Ohio turnpike and I’m writing in the notes section on my phone because we should be getting to the Airbnb sometime soonish so I wanted to get a jump on writing this out. Today’s been pretty decent. The plan for this weekend was initially wake up early Saturday and drive to Cleveland, do Con, stay overnight at Airbnb and drive back Sunday, but concert tickets for one of Jess’ KPop bands went on sale this morning and she really wanted to have the best chance of getting them so we changed the plan to drive there Saturday evening, stay overnight, do con Sunday and drive back Sunday evening. So I woke up at 8:45 because the concert tickets went on sale at 10 am New Jersey time (because it’s in New Jersey) with a pre-queue opening 10 minutes beforehand, and if you were in the pre-queue you get randomly placed in the actual queue, whereas if you just join the queue afterwards you get put at the end. So I just woke up and leaned over and got my laptop and got on the website without doing anything else.
Now, yesterday there were tickets for BTS, who is the KPop band you’ve probably been seeing everywhere because they’re really popular, and the concert is at a football field that has 50,000 seats, so there were plenty to go around. This is a lesser known band that’s playing a concert hall with like, 3,000 seats, so when you get randomly placed in the queue and it just says the typical “2,000+ people in front of you” for one that’s supposed to be expected, the other it’s a big oh fuck. Jess is at her place doing this on her phone as well, and we both get “2,000+” off the random queue at which point we were like UGH. Mine started moving relatively quickly though and I got in at like 9:20 but at that point there already wasn’t anything left that you could actually get two seats together, and like we spent a while trying, but it just wasn’t happening, so we had to say oh well and move on.
After we gave up I got dressed and ready then we met for brunch at the usual place. It was busy so we got seated in the secondary section we’ve only been in like, twice, which was fine lol and we still had our normal waitress who knows our orders. The waitress also happened to notice we both had our nails done since we got gel manicures in New York a few weeks ago and she came back over with a pamphlet for the nail place next door that she also works at and offered to give us a discount, which was perfect because we were looking for a place to get them done like next weekend before C2E2 and it hadn’t even occurred to me that there was a place around the fucking corner from us, so that was awesome and we’ll probably do that next weekend along with seeing Captain Marvel. After we finished eating we sat for a bit so Jess could continue drinking coffee (with refills) before paying and leaving (we also always tip well so they actually really like us there because I’m a strong believer in decent tipping because being a waiter is Hard).
So once we left we walked back to our respective apartments so Jess could shower and pack and such before we left. I didn’t really have anything I needed to do because I packed last night, so I mostly just sat with my laptop and watched a few episodes of Reign, which I’m still in the first season of, but MAN has that show gotten wild. Like first they actually have her marry one of the brothers instead of everlasting love triangle like I expected, and then the king loses his fucking mind and like forces the girl he’s sleeping with to marry his other son and all sorts of wild stuff, so that’s been crazy. I am definitely enjoying it though.
Around 2:30 or so Jess came and picked me up and we started the drive to Cleveland (this is for Wizard World Cleveland if I didn’t mention that at some point). It had started raining a bit when we were leaving but it wasn’t very bad, the gps was being annoying so we had to configure that so that it didn’t take us on a route that’s 4 hours longer to avoid tolls. So we ended up putting in the address of a Cracker Barrel that’s just over the Indiana border that we knew of and drove to there. Once there we proceeded to eat at said Cracker Barrel because much like old people, we love Cracker Barrel. Everything was very good, except initially they brought me green beans instead of Mac and cheese as a side with my meal which was fine because they brought the Mac and cheese like two minutes later, but there were SO MANY GREEN BEANS on my plate 😂 like they were taking up half the fucking plate, but I mostly just found this amusing and not something to actually get peeved about.
So after we finished we paid and left, got gas and headed out to cross Indiana. As we drove at one point the rain got very, very intense, which was Scary, but thankfully we weren’t in it for that long and it let up soon after. We stopped at a rest stop a while ago to use the bathroom and get Starbucks because we wanted caffeine, and we stopped at another one like half an hour ago to refill gas just to make sure we had enough because we had like just less than what we would’ve needed to get there so we might as well just fill up and be good with it. And since then we’ve been driving and I started writing this. We lost an hour driving into another time zone and of course tonight is also daylight savings because of course it is, so we lose another hour from that which is annoying, but oh well. We just paid a toll and we’re like half an hour out, so I’ll probably stop here for now and do a quick catch up right before going to sleep.
Ok, we’re at the Airbnb after some slight stress about getting here but we made it, since we are losing hours I am going to sleep now. Goodnight peeps. Hope you’re having an awesome weekend.

I’m going to experiment with collating comments folks have made every few days in a post (at least when I have the spoons for doing so). I hope that this means people get to see them without leaving me struggling to keep up with making a new post for every comment.
@ecstaticasterisms says on the clip tray box post,
idk why I haven’t thought of clips on boxes as stims until you said so, because I always break the battery covers on remotes snapping them on and off constantly… that’s a good idea!
I’ve been working on paying attention to my casual stimming with household items (because if I can stim with it, I probably am) and then mentioning it, because I run into stims other people do that I haven’t thought of myself all the time. If even one person goes oh, I didn’t know I can do that, it’s worth the words. Conversations about ordinary household items are so important in terms of ease of access!
And clip containers are so stimmy, between the snap/click sound and the repetitive movement of pushing the clip open and shut. You can get them in all sorts of sizes, from big enough to store stim toys to small enough to toss in a handbag or backpack, and they’re more easily replaced when broken. I’ve found the brand name ones (like Sistema in Australia and NZ) in general to have a louder, snappier click, but the cheaper ones still work pretty well.
@dottythefishy says on the Basset Hound theme post,
This isn’t exactly basset hound but I thought anon might like this puppy dog marble maze
Thank you so much! There’s only two left (the seller is A Sense of Self, based in the US) so folks who are after dog-themed stim should check it out soonish.
@hufflepuff-ron says on the Captain America post,
Disney stores have captain America tsum tsums
Thank you for letting us know! We didn’t get any Marvel Tsum Tsums over here, so I really have no idea how broad the range is.
I couldn’t find an online listing, but I did find another Captain America-themed fidget spinner for sale online ($7.95 USD).

Did a little changing around of a few things on my tumblr page and my Downloads page.
1. Updated my current status and my About page.
Currently building in an edited version of Ile d’Arabry.
Not currently taking request.
TOU
Also, going forward I take suggestions but not request. I'm building in an edited version of Ile D'Arabry that Frankie gave me permission to edit eons ago (I hope she even remembers doing that. Lol!) The builds are specific to the world and lots with tons of CC, so I won't be sharing the lots, save or world. Special exception would be if it's a flat lot and I think it might be share worthy. Hope you understand.
2. Added a TOU link to my Downloads page.
Going forward the TOU will not be on each download but rather as a reference on my page.
And as always, I’m here not going on hiatus but things in my life may be changing and I may not be able to commit as much time to simming and having a fast turn around (if you can call what I do fast) as before. The Munchkin is growing up and doesn’t need Auntie Poo messing in her life. Soooooo.....I get to do more me stuff. We are going to be putting the house and land up for sale soonish in the next couple of months. It’ll require a lot of work. Then hopefully move to a nice location in the city. Yes lots of Mississippi concrete. haha Anyways, enough blabbing.

Spencer Reid Fic., Pt. 4 (1)
I came up with the plot for this one before watching season 8, so for anyone knowing about the Maeve story arc, this fic exists outside of that universe.
I’m just very indecisive but I decided to go with my original plan.
Also, this is going to be really long, so I’ll release it in parts.
PT. 3
PT. 2
PT. 1
Warning : there is some violence/gore/stalking in this one, but if you’re OK with watching a show like Criminal Minds you should be fine.
Hades pt. 1 -- Exposition, First theme
Sometime around 4:30, Spencer was trying to silently put socks on.  I sat up and rubbed my eyes, content to watch him for a minute.  I wasn’t sure if he owned a mirror, but his consistently tousled hair and crooked ties suggested he hadn’t seen one in a decade.
“Did I wake you?” he whispered.
“Kinda, but I’ve always been a light sleeper.  And, you don’t need to whisper we’re both awake,” I whispered back.
“Well in that case,” he flipped the light switch, I answered with my impersonation of a pterodactyl eating a cow.  Laughing, he continued, “I have to go into work, you’re welcome to stay here though.”
I glanced at my phone and frowned.  Evelyn was supposed to text me as soon as she and her boyfriend were done canoodling so I knew she double checked the locks.  She hadn’t.  I slid out of bed and pulled my jeans, which had been thrown in a pile by the door, back on.
“Actually, I need to get back to my place.  It’s probably nothing, but Evelyn always texts me when I ask her to.  I just want to make sure everything is alright.”
“Oh, I’ll come with you.”
“No, no, I don’t want to make you late.”
He patted my forehead and said, “I’ll come with you.  Hotch won’t even notice.”
“Okie dokie then.  Thank you.”  He continued into the bathroom, shoving a toothbrush haphazardly into his mouth.
“Thanks again, Spencer,” I smiled at him, standing in the doorway.  He gave this smile every once in a while that just looked through me and he was giving it now.
Running a hand through his hair he said, “Are you sure you’re OK?”
I glanced around behind me, “Yeah, the door was locked and Eve’s always been a heavy sleeper.”  I shifted my weight, hoping I wouldn’t let on how worried I was.  “Worry about you, alright?  Be safe.”
“I will.  Gotta go, but I’ll call you... eventually!?” he continued as he jogged down the hallway.
Laughing to myself I closed the door and turned the lock.  The apartment that Eve and I rented was small, but I’d managed to cram in the Yamaha piano I’d gotten at a yard sale when we first moved here.  Running my fingers down the keys, I realized that Spencer had never actually been in my apartment.  I wonder if he’s profiled something out of me because of that.
“Di!  Good grief it’s five in the morning, what the rockets are you doing up?” Evelyn came stumbling out of her room in her pajamas, rubbing her eyes.  Taking in my appearance, though, she straightened and gave me that, in her words, “bow-chicka-wow-wow” face.
“No drawing conclusions.  None of that.  I need caffeine.”
She followed me into the kitchen skipping.  “Isn’t that what you wore yesterday?  Doesn’t your nerd go to work at this ungodly hour?” she feigned a shocked gasp, “Were you with him all night?  Di.  Tsk, so naughty.”
“We didn’t actually....”  She let her shoulders droop, looking confused.  “He’s been working too hard.  We were on that track, but he was out when he hit the mattress.  Apparently there’s a serial killer in the area.”  Eve shivered and handed me the coffee grinder.
In between pulses of the grinder I remarked, “And who exactly,” crckcrckwhrrrr, “are you calling naughty,” crckcrackwhrrrchrck, “you spent all night talking about leather and whipped cream.”
Allen appeared suddenly, looking no worse for wear but irritable.
“Women are insane, do you have any idea what time it is?”  Pouting, he sat down and only perked when I slid him a mug of coffee.
“Yes, Allen.  Do you have any idea who’s house you’re in?”  I sipped on my own mug.
A sudden, cheeky smile broke his face, “Have I ever mentioned how wonderfully hospitable you are, Diana?”
It was almost 5:30, time for me to get ready for work.  Rolling my eyes, I waved at them and made my way into the bathroom to hopefully salvage what was left of my appearance.
I worked part-time as an assistant at a recording studio, but I’d enrolled in an online college for a degree in computer science.  At around 12:30, I was sitting at my desk sifting through some assembly; it was a slow day.  White and Nerdy began to emanate from my top left drawer and I couldn’t stop the smile spreading across my face.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Diana.  I just wanted to check in; we haven’t made any breaks for the past few days, so the case is going to go cold soon.  We should be able to watch movies uninterrupted for at least a couple hours.”
I laughed, “You should sleep for those hours, honestly you slept like a baby last night.”
“Infants are actually terrible sleepers, especially if they suffer from separation anxiety... Um, I have a huge favor to ask of you.”
“Oh, OK.  What is it?”
He took a deep breath in before saying, “Someone I work with figured out we’re seeing each other and demands to meet you.”
I laughed, “That’s all?  Send me their contact, I’ll figure something out.”
“Really?  Garcia will be thrilled, but I warn you, she’s kind of eccentric.”
“Hmm, sounds like someone else I know.  Wait.  Penelope Garcia?  You work with Penelope Garcia?”
“Yes, she’s our analyst, the best-”
“I know, we studied her in one of my computer security courses.  Her source and encryption algorithms were revolutionary.  Send me her info, oh my gosh.”
“I will, I’ll text it to you.  I’ve gotta run, but I’ll see you later this week after we wrap up the paperwork for this guy.  And then maybe you could meet the rest of the team?  They all, sort of, know.  Profilers.”
“Sure, sure.  Be safe, see you soonish.”
Around noon the next day, I met Penelope Garcia at a cafe she’d recommended for lunch.  I tried not to let myself get nervous, but not only was I about to meet a renowned figure in my future field, she worked with Spencer.  She was grinning when she vigorously shook my hand.
“Hi, I’m Penelope!  It’s so nice to meet you, you look so much nicer than I’d imagined!”  Her hair was done up with pink ribbon and she was wearing gigantic orange hoop earrings.
“Uh... thank you?”
“Oh, I meant nicer, like friendlier not prettier or anything I mean I assumed you’d be pretty and you obviously are but,” she finally drew a breath.
I laughed and withdrew my arm, “It’s nice to meet you too, I’m a big fan of your work, and your hacking skills, but mostly your work.”
Her smile widened and she sat down.  “So Reid found himself a techie, interesting.  So,” she said, clasping her hands, “tell me about yourself.”  I sat across from her and mirrored her posture.
“Well that’s a loaded question if I’ve ever heard one.  I’m, uh, twenty four years old.  I’m a Pisces...? Haha, what is it you want to know?”
“Anything, everything.  Do you have any pets?  Where did you go to school?  Why did you leave the music business?”  I froze, a block of fuzzy ice in my gut.
“What?”
“2008, the band Seeds of Shades appeared on the Neo-goth/emo scene, but vanished in 2011.  What happened?”  She didn’t look angry, I couldn’t figure out her motive and started to panic.
“A lot of things happened, but Penelope, Penelope, please don’t tell Spencer.  When he finds out I have to tell him.”
She shook her head, “I don’t, I don’t understand.  Why...?”  Penelope’s phone began to ring and she excused herself.
I could hear snippets of her conversation, “Your wish is my command, handsome... What?  I thought it went cold... I’ll be there.”  Oh no.
In that moment, my phone began to ring *the only thing I ever thought was hard... Do I like Kirk or do I like Picard*
“Spencer?” I answered.
“Diana, we have another body.  The unsub was in your apartment.”

Boss Level Sweet Tooth and other updates!
This week is a bit of a mixed bag. No major topic of discussion, but we do have many smaller, bite-sized things to discuss. Just enough to whet your appetite and bring you back for next week’s episode!
Starting off with Father’s Day. It’s coming up this Sunday. What did you get your father-figure for his special day? For those of you lucky enough to have a father, or a good relationship with your father, I hope you make the most of this time!
Kickstarter campaign news! We’re talking about the latest figures from my first attempt at fundraising. It is not going so well. As of this recording we are only 9% funded.
I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos as of late. I’m learning everything I can about antiques and how to set up a store. I’m also a bit obsessed with G.I. Joe Classified action figures.
Dog stuff! We have a couple updates about the puppies. In fact, you can hear Daisy the Golden Doodle barking in the background. Nimoy the teacup Yorkie is doing well, He’s a happy dog. He eats anything and everything. Potty training is not fun!
Residential school stuff. Bad things have happened in Canada. 215 bodies were recently found in Kamloops, BC. I offer a brief history of Native treatment here in Canada. I don’t have a lot of knowledge, but I share what I do know.
Store stuff! I have a five year plan. I am really very excited to get this operation up and running. Recently, I updated the Facebook page for The Rusted Robot. I’ve also added some products that are for sale. A real website should also be up and running soonish.
We end the show by talking about some recent shows I have been watching. On Netflix I recommend Sweet Tooth. It’s a cute 8 episode show about human-animal hybrid babies and the end of the world. Boss Level on Amazon Prime Video is a time-loop movie. Highly recommend both of these!
This week’s podcast promo: Best Saturdays of our Lives, Dr Geek’s vaccination campaign

New to r/cars and I would like to introduce the family. via /r/cars
New to r/cars and I would like to introduce the family.
So I guess you could say I am a relatively new car guy, just got into cars about two years ago when looking for my next car. I had always been given old family cars and I wanted to purchase one for myself, something I wanted.
I asked my friends what I should get, they all said Miata. So I did research and saw how big of a community this car actually had. I looked for about a year or so, almost all just rusted piles of carbage, drift missiles, or red. I didn't want any of those, I wanted something different like a 93 LE. However none were for sale at the time and I didn't know if I really wanted that stomach liner interior.
I found a Eunos Roadster 91 BRG from Japan that just had become legal in the states at the end of 2016. Here are some pictures of her.
Currently sits on SSR Professors Sp2-Rs imported from Japan, bilstien suspension from a 93 LE, Mazdaspeed exhaust, "cold" air intake with a stock motor. I am probably going to supercharge it soonish, but that is still in the air. I also got a Nardi Japan only option from another Eunos Roadster part out, but I think I still prefer my 90s MOMO D-Cut that came off an F1 car. Apparently. But all I know is that it is rare, and I love it.
Probably the most fun I've had in a car, she was my daily for about a year because my previous daily was too expensive to fix and at the time didn't know how. Also bought a Miata so I could learn to fix and upgrade them myself. She attracts a lot of attention and I couldn't be happier with the unique factor I was going for, RHD and a 91 BRG SE from Japan. I only know if 3 imported in North America and 2 in the USA. Only 250 made in Japan. Probably about to be the only one in the USA because the other guy that has one, it's on its last legs. And he wants to wrap it...but whatever.
My second baby I just picked up because I wanted a second car to start doing work on the Miata without time limitations and something that I could go to ikea with. So here is my 1998 Volvo T5 Turbo Wagon with a 5 speed manual transmission, Becky the Brick. She has 310k on the odometer but only 140k on the engine, has a book that has the entire history of the car down the every oil change and is making over 300 HP with a slightly upgraded turbo. Sitting on R-Spec wheels with bilstien HD suspension on lowering springs and a 3" exhaust that sounds deeeeeeeeeeeep.
Becky the Brick is exactly what I wanted in a daily, fun to drive, modable, manual, and has space for things.
Sorry if it's too long, I hope to enjoy my stay, someone told me Miatas are a circle jerks here, so I should fit right in. Any questions, ASK AWAY!
TLDR: I'm new, here are my cars. Toothless the Miata and Becky the Brick.
EDIT: I like to say "so" a lot, so I got rid of some
