beat the scarlet/violet DLC! i havent done some of the bigger postgame stuff yet, but ive beaten the main story, which is really the important part

ill leave my longer thoughts under the read more to avoid spoilers

honestly, i really like how they handled this DLC. i think part of me likes kitakami as a place more, but this is also a really nice little spot. the terarium is a cool place, the pokemon in it are cool, etc.

what i REALLY liked was the story, as well. ive talked about this with a lot of other people, but SV's main theme seems to be getting yourself too lost in your own desires, so much so that you don't realize what happens, and this continues that. ambition is a great thing, but pushed too far, it can put others at risk. i think kieran's character is fantastic in this regard. it genuinely makes sense, and it's no surprise he ends up the way he does, and his desire to look up to the player becomes warped and corrupted because he wants to be better, he wants to achieve the dreams he's seeing the player reach, etc.

it's really interesting stuff. i really, REALLY like it, honestly, and i love how they handled briar in the way, too. briar literally gets so invested and excited about terastialization research that she's putting *three children* at risk. she actively realizes this and apologizes, and i like that they highlighted this. it's a neat theme, and i think the DLC tackles it really well

like the lore and extra stuff introduced is cool, but i feel like always, the character writing shines really well here. it's nice to see a bit of old kieran peek back out, him falling into old habits, but then we see him lose himself again as SOON as a sliver of a chance for him to be better than the MC arrives. for that, i'm a huge fan, i think they did a really good job there

also, big fan of BBQs. scratches that "i want to do PLA tasks forever" itch just enough to be satisfying

the one thing i wasn't a fan of was the battle difficulty, however. now, keep in mind, after asking my friends for some help i WAS able to adjust my team and have strategies to beat them and all that, but MAN, this is WAY too drastic of a leap in difficulty compared to base game, IMO. it'd be one thing if this was optional, but this is the main story.

now, keep in mind, i don't mind if they want to make pokemon games harder. i think it's a good thing. challenge and all that. but when base SV wasnt... ANYTHING like this, it is VERY jarring for them to like, legitimately start using competitive movesets and strategies and all that, without so much as a means to prepare you for it. i feel like there's gonna be a lot of people who just get hard walled by some of the battles, and idk how i really feel about it.

i AM glad this is here, but, i don't think it shouldve been the DEFAULT. some kind of toggle or even having these be post-game battles wouldve been great. but having it be the main difficulty scaling feels really bizarre in comparison to SV's base difficulty. hell, kitakami wasn't nearly as bad as this. it's a leap that is very, VERY drastic.

(and yeah, i did get fucked up bad early on, but keep in mind this is coming from someone who first tried kieran, who is the hardest battle in the DLC. so it's not like i was just playing poorly all the time)

also stellar as a tera type is kinda just whatever i feel. idk not really as interesting as it seemed to be. it's cool lore wise, but even then it's just like... eh, neat, i guess LOL

all in all, i really liked indigo disk. it wasn't the most mindblowing thing ever, and i feel like i MAYBE liked teal mask more, but honestly, it's not by a huge margin. it was pretty good, i had a good time. i'd say it won't win over anybody who already didnt like base SV, but it's worth if you like the base game because it improves on a lot. honestly, i think i like the DLC more than i do the base game, and i already liked SV, lmao

Same person who made the submission about “anyone who can decompile flash for free”. You wrote “I can” and I assume this meant like “you can send me a swf file for free and I’ll be okay with decompiling it for funsies.” Cause that was what I meant in my question, I was looking to see if anybody could do it. If that’s NOT the case and you’re not okay with it then I’m sorry for my misunderstanding and you can just ignore the rest of what I’m going to write.

Now assuming you’re okay with it, yeah I looked into that swf decompiler before but it said it needs Java for it to work. I did quite a bit of research on Java but I still don’t grasp how to use it plus I don’t know which version to get for Mac which won’t give me a virus.

edit: ok, ive uploaded it here, but i havent included the ‘sprites’ folder because it was 24 GB. i think sprites only use images that exist elsewhere in the file, they just combine them (which is why they can be so much bigger than the original file, i guess?).

the link to the flash decompiler in my previous post goes to github and is the original source of the program (there’s been a new release since then) so it’s definitely not a virus, but i completely understand not wanting to download random applications; i try to take precautions, but i definitely open myself up to downloading some dodgy shit sometimes because a lot of what i do involves like..finding a random app someone made a decade ago to read a single type of obscure file lmao.

wow. that last post is funny. so, he hasnt texted since tht last post, he did respond but when i sent another photo, he did'nt. ive finally accepted that he just doesnt want me. i bought a fuckin belt to match his, however its a belt that makes sense. especially as both of us r malnourished skinny people.

Episode 2 - Why Did People Flip - Xavier

so! week 2 and my plan honestly is to just really still focus on my social relationships. so far, i feel very confident in my ability to connect with people on a 1 to 1 level, and at least hopefully skate through these first few weeks. consistently my problem in the game is missing out on a key group or alliance that is running more than I know. without being too chaotic and paranoid, i would really really like to try to sit here and just scope out the relationships. as for my groups! i really want to work with jennet. she's like iconic? her art is so cute and i do feel like i made a genuine connection with her early on, and i think pointing out we're some of the only award winners in the cast could bring us closer together ! plus 4th place legends... beyond jennet, i have a group with isaac and nicole, and honestly, im feeling suprisingly good about both. i think these first 6 people i mention are the ones im going to focus on most, and focus on really forming game connection wheras the rest im just socially going to really force myself into their LIVES and hope they like me! Daisy and Jarod... loves them and swifties who ive played with in the past both in a way that i feel we were unfinished. jarod got taken out in the doubles round just as we kinda connected on a game level, and then daisy and i were working together in bb netflix before it got canceled. this is really the group i want to strategize with and im really putting myself on a limb being loyal to them because i know they have options, but its a risk im willing to take because if i can be the number 1, their connections can just offer more safety and information for myself. and the final people who i kinda want to work with is captain and wiliam xavier s up there, we just havent spoken tons dont really have much of an opinion on the others? if i had to nominate right now it might be mario just because we havent spoken yet.

It's annoying to be nominated, especially by Jennet. Literally two minutes before we were talking and I was explaining how this round is played. And then Jennet nominates me. I feel betrayed. Getting my G4ce together (Greenhouse 4) so we can vote as a team. And well, well, well, I just found out that the Sequester 4 are also voting together. It is weird that they are all nominated during the Sequester round. They are targeting either Wyatt or Kaleigh. Knowing they are a team, I want one of them out, if I can swing it quietly.

HI I’m back and already went through a ton! Last round a misunderstanding / Lanie throwing me under the bus just because I said I hadn’t spoken to Nyx and Captain really set me up in a weird spot so I had to get rid of Lanie and then she said we all suck (imagine being almost 30 and telling someone who is your students age that they suck! I get it really is terrible to be blindsided but it was her fault, she played too fast! Like yell at me for not communicating properly or whatever she believed I did at that point but don’t take it out on everyone especially like the youngest player in the game!) Anyway, this round is sequester so we are all back together! I finally get to play with Daisy! I love her so much so I’m super glad we got to play, I’m very glad I get to reunite with Lindsay, I’m glad William isn’t mad at me for the whole Lanie situation and now I’m safe for the first vote! It is a very good feeling but I also feel like I should be learning from Lanie’s mistake and playing not fast so I’m trying to take a step back from talking in the house chat. I’m just so excited to see everyone but I will try to contain myself so I don’t annoy anyone. Check back in later in the round!!!

I’m hoping that comes from Jarod or one of the safe people because they literally have the safety to get away with it

also, i secured an alliance with jarod, autumn and jennet. and a greenhouse alliance with mario, nyx and xavier. the latter hasn't been in the talk like with every greenhouse yet but xavier brought it up to me and i think that it should be great. so fingers crossed!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO, going into Round 2 im having a really big struggle..... im seeing  THAT I DONT DISLIKE A SINGLE PERSON ON THIS CAST, USUALLY THERE IS AT LEAST ONE BUT NOPE    Also we are moving into a Sequester sorta semi safety chain with half vulnerable and half safe cast and lucky me I think Lanie either hated me the most or the least from our Survivor team and decided to give me the Karma twist which gave me safety for the round but made me have to pick the first unsafe out of the whole cast. I think my strategy was to pick someone who didn't talk to me yet (so i had a reason) as well as someone who was sorta loved by most if not all and wasn't a target for it, because I'm thinking if I just fade into the background this round no one would have a need or want to pick me for the Battlematch, i think its safe to assume whoever goes home will pick the person who made them unsafe plus like one other person, so i just have to avoid being that other 1/13 people. As for the vote i have no clue at all, I think maybe Isaac cause i haven't said much to him at all, or maybe Jarod cause i know he is hella busy and prob wont pick me to go into battle..... just not Wyatt or Blake or Kaleigh rn.  So like yeah, just gonna pray, not talk around too too much, let people come to me so it doesnt seem like im pushing anyones name and hopefully vote someone i dont love out. yeah so much fun xoxo William F

So, this round is pretty confusing and difficult to navigate cause not only do we have to vote someone out we have to vote someone out and hope they don't drag us into the battleback. I'm very happy to be safe for the vote since at least then i'll have a chance to battleback in a comp. So, for this vote I can't vote Autumn since she gave me safety, I can't vote Jarod since he took one for the team, I can't vote Xavier cause of the gh alliance, I can't vote Blake due to our bonding on tau ceti, so my only real options for this vote are Isaac, Wyatt, and Kaleigh. If I had my way i'd just pile the votes on wyatt and get them out now but it's not that easy because i haven't talked as much and they could see that as incentive to drag me in. Of course all the people I just mentioned I don't wanna vote for I wanna save because that means they'll be willing to work with me to some capacity. To avoid the battle match is the hardest part cause people can be very impulsive with their decisions and heat of the moment always catches people off guard. My best bet is just not to make too many promises and to just tell the truth and hopefully that'll be enough to gain their respect.

And of course the vote shifted to Isaac. But the Sequester group won't vote Isaac. Mario voted Autumn. Captain voted Wyatt. I am voting Kaleigh because I haven't spoken to her much. But I want the vote to go Isaac's way - it breaks up Sequester, and he won't think it was me, so safe from the battle. The wondrously diverse field of ecto-psychology

Okay, so in light of what happened with Butch butchering Jazz’s character i thought it’d be nice to pay tribute to her and examine all the different avenues ghosts and psychology could mix (and how she most definitely was the most influential psychologist of her time by literally inventing an entirely new field). Shoutout to the Psych Majors for Jazz Fenton Association @currently-lurking

So, fair warning, I’m long-winded and im about to info-dump about two of my fav special interests: ghosts and psychology.

Here we go.

So, to start off, let me just say that I have just finished my third year of a bachelors degree in psychology, and im looking into grad school to get a masters/maybe a doctorate. so i do mostly know what im talking about. BUT also seeing as there are apparently plenty of psych majors in the phandom if anybody wants to add on or go in depth in something they specialize in, be my guest. these are just from the areas ive taken classes in. 

let’s start off with saying that psychology is more than just therapy and abnormal pathologies. it’s a science! i write a lot of research papers! i was research assistant just last semester! where i helped with experiments! science! 

and, honestly, when it comes to the idea of giving ghosts therapy in order to move on... I dont think it would differ much from human therapy, assuming that: the ability to move on implies that they’re human, the brains of ghosts who were once human don’t differ from the brains of humans, there aren’t any long-term effects of ghost socialization on ghosts that were once human, and that the problems of the ghost are rooted within trauma from their human life. Otherwise things would have to be extensively researched in order to give the best care for otherworldly patients! 

Which is where the science comes in!! But i havent studied all areas of psych/psych research, so im going to theorize about the areas i do know! which are: humanistic psych, child and adolescent psych, cognitive basis of behavior, social psych, and evolutionary psych! social and evo are my strong points. 

so lets talk about evolutionary psychology! this is the field of study that produces research like finding empathy in rats, Ayumu the Chimp has better numerical memory than humans, and stuff about humans too like “gender differences” (but i avoid that and like the stuff about animals more).

So how would scientists in the evo-psych field react to ghosts? First they’d probably flip out. and i mean that. its been a real problem in the field for researchers to acknowledge that animals might even have feelings (since proven that they obviously do), let alone other human-like traits (this is a phenomenon called anthropocentrism, where humans think they’re the best above all else). so a being that is not human but is very much sentient and able to communicate?? absolutely wild. the appearance of ghosts would enthrall behaviorists as an entirely new species! one that also might be closely related to humans!! Now, most ghosts can communicate like humans do and so would be studied by more human-oriented psychologists. but about the things like the ecto-pusses? the blobs? they’re more animal than human as ghosts. or cujo? they’d go nuts.

Do they have feelings? can they think? can they count? what about their memory in general? do they have empathy? can they work together to solve a problem? can they solve puzzles? do they eat??? if so how do they hunt/forage? do they have a complex social structure or are they solitary? semi-social? do the ghosts that reflect a living animal also function like their living counterpart or is there something that sets them completely apart? do they fulfill the criteria for play??? dO THEY REPRODUCE??? (i mean there was lunchbox so??) DO THEY EVOLVE????

also pertaining to this field id like to think that the appearance of ghosts who are obviously sentient and able to communicate with the same language humans do, it would totally blow anthropocentrism out of the water and put smug superior psychologists that dont think animals could ever be on the same level as humans in their place. nyeh. (Anyway anthropocentrism, anthropodenial, and the like are all fascinating things and I really recommend reading Are We Smart Enough to Know How Smart Animals Are? by Frans De Waal, a very good read in easy access language with cool animal facts and my professor Dr. Burghardt is even mentioned in it!) 

and honestly this is getting so long im just gonna cover social psych 

Anyway. So! social psych is the wonderful love child of psychology and sociology and as my professor puts it, psych studies the individual, sociology studies social structures and social psych studies how social structures effect the individual! social psychology puts out research like: the famous milgram experiment, how to reduce prejudice, and stuff about lying. the stuff about prejudice is where my professor specialized and i was even a research assistant for one of his grad students! (facial expression versus race processing). 

okay, so. ghosts. oh man there’s so many questions. social wise. do they have a social structure? do they have implicit prejudices as a result of that structure? i mean there was a ghost king so? how does their social structure differ from ours? do they have different cultures? do they have subcultures within their main culture? is there an identity they associate with being a ghost thats separate from their personal identity? do they have the same obedience to authority as we do? (they have a prison and walker obviously, but they also have jailbreaks all the time apparently). do they lie? are they good at detecting lies? are they socialized to be a ghost or are some traits innate?? do you have instincts and drives that make you want to scare humans or are you socialized to do so? can ghosts overcome that? could they fully integrate into human society if both humans and ghosts use the steps to reduce prejudice? do they form groups? attachments? 

there are things i need to know okay.

basically the introduction of ghosts would probably create a split in psychology wherein the whole field of research is re-created. but for ghosts. its fascinating. 

i mean there’s also psych questions in general about ghosts.

how does death affect their psyche? their thoughts and feelings and identity? especially in the case of formerly-human ghosts. do they retain all the memories of their life as human? to they only retain major memories? does this affect their memory, identity, or mental health?? do ghosts have an innate instinct to cause fear in humans or is this some form of socialized prejudice or maybe is this a result of acting out on trauma faced before death? do ghosts literally even have brains?????? does ectoplasm do anything to their brain if they have one since it functions as their blood? are their effects on humans from long-term exposure to ectoplasm? are ghosts that are born ghosts different from ghosts that died human? 

i dunno there’s a whole bunch more but its 2am so bye for now

(btw she admitted fault to police so im 0% at fault legally) I went to emergency room for precautionary reasons. That cost $1450. Then little by little the pain started to kick in. I had neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain and terrible pain in my knee. I had MRI on back, knee and neck because those were the worst. That total was about $1800. I was told by the doctor that the mri on my back said I have two herniated disks and I should do therapy. I listened to him and went four times per week for four months. The Mri on my neck came back good. But my knee showed a tear in mcl. I had surgery on that and had to see the surgeon in his office twice plus hospital bills which equals a bill of $14,500. I then needed 2 months of therapy on my knee. Also all the pain meds ive been taking through out the whole process is around $600. I had a ekg for my nerves to test if they were good and that cost $800. So after doing my research I find websites that say the settlement amount s should be all bills multiplied by 3 depending on the persons insurance carrier and coverage. Well this person has $200,000/$200,000. So far all my bills have been paid through my insurance. When I do the math for what all the bills are is comes to roughly $28350. I didn't include the four days per week for therapy and seeing the doctors. That has to be a big chunk also. My lawyer called me and said he was made an offer of $42,000. He gets a 1/3 of that. I think they low balled me soooo bad on this. If i use the X3 multiplier method then it should have been somewhere around $85,000 offer. Remember I didn't even include all the visits to the therapy. Is this a good offer or should I decline and wait for second offer? My lawyer thinks we should wait it out because he has such a big insurance policy that we can get much more especially since that was our first offer.""

A couple of weeks ago a lady ran a red light and hit my car. Her insurance company took a week to get me a rental and two weeks later finally go look at my car and determined a total loss. They say that now, insurance companies can no longer deny insurance to people with pre -existing conditions. So what was HIPAA passed in 1996 for? I work freelance and I am looking into getting a health care plan. I haven't had medical insurance since elementary school but now that I'm approaching mid 20s, I wanted to prepare for the emergency, the 'just-in-case' situation. My problem is that I have a very negative impression on the insurance business and health care itself. I've gone to health clinic from a floating rib and I paid $300 to be told that I need to get tylenol LOL My relatives and friend went through some misdiagnose, multiple exams and charges. Some friends go through such a bull5hit time - one friend was charged $500 to borrow a blanket in the waiting room at a health care clinic and all she had to do was make a call and complain to cancel the full amount. We were baffled So.. they get paid $500 for lending a blanket? They take the $500 away if we complain? It's like complaining at a restaurant LOL!!! I maybe ignorant, but it makes me so upset to see people without insurance having such a hard time affording health care. Health care and insurance makes me feel like I'm giving into a manipulative scam - like buying a $120 clothing that only costs $5 to make.
