Bruce Wayne for the "send me a character" thing :3

First impression: i dont know, since he has been big in popculture before i was born. he is a bat? very serious?

Impression now: he is sooooo serious. very tsundere of him. given how big dc is and how many different iterations on his character there are, there is very big range of "who bruce wayne is". i have my favorites, which i try to replicate in my stories.

Favorite moment: when he kisses clark- what do you mean that hasnt happened in canon? idk i dont read/watch/play anything.

Idea for a story: a major injury has bruce benched from being batman for a long while. months. recovery is slow. he is sooooo mad at himself and lashes out at everyone. clark cant stan being completely cut off by bruce and eventually he worms his way back into bruce's life. and everyone is soooo relieved bc clark occupies a lot of bruce's time and seems to take his lashings like a champ.

as months pass and there is doubt if bruce is going to suit up ever again, they start talking about what the future might be. bruce isn't saying it, but he fears that without batman, missing this connetion with clark/superman, clark would eventually drift away from his life. clark can tell it's what he is thinking. and one day he just says it all. abt how deeply he cares for bruce, how connected he feels to bruce, batman or not, and how he doesnt want to even imagine a life without bruce. it's embarrassing but rewarded in the end with bruce kissing the breath out of clark. the rest of bruce's recovery is spent in second base. the family learns to knock before entering bruce's room. (bruce and clark's room.)

and then bruce is recovered. clark walks into the cave and is greeted there by batman. it's awkward for clark because this isn't bruce who he has been making out with for the past weeks. this is his collegue who he hasn't been face to face with in months. should he go in for a kiss still?

as clark hesitates for just a moment, bruce's mind is kicked into anxiety overdrive. his face sours and seeing that makes clark not lean in for a kiss.

"...good to have you back, batman."

"hmh."

clark cracks. "can you take the helmet off so i can kiss you?"

bruce tries not to show how hearing that relaxes him. "my lips aren't the part covered up, clark."

"fair enough, i guess. haha." clark chuckles a little self-consciously and leans in for a kiss.

Unpopular opinion: he should be tsundere. he masks his love and affection with being aloof and cold and distant. being verbally affectionate with him will make him just want to respond with insults. also he has a vagina. i think thats more controversial. also he is not skinny. uwu

Favorite relationship: idk if this makes any sense but him with... superman? i know its weird, they are aesthetically very different, but you'd be surprised to see how much they have in common in their ideals and how well their personalities come together.

Favorite headcanon: him being trans means so much to me idk why. coping character.

Random Relationship Astrology Notes

Composite north node seems to be SO significant when determining how a relationship will play out.

Composite NN in the 11th house: may have met through mutual friends. Those friends may be very influential in the relationship, like they helped bring the two people together or they could play a role in why they separate, depending on aspects, like harsh Saturn or conjunct Chiron. Could also be two people who are around other friends all the time.

Composite NN in the 10th house: may have met at work, through coworkers. They work well together and have similar career goals. Probably at least met in public somewhere vs in private. If romantic, the couple naturally sees their future together in the same light.

Composite Chiron conjunct North Node: lots of pain endured together as a couple, could have a very bad and painful break up. Healing after the breakup could take longer than normal, there could be a desire to go back to each other repeatedly to finish the “wound/healing” cycle that is Chiron. The house placement will show what area this will take place within the relationship.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t like mercury in the 1st house overlay in a synastry chart. I actually don’t find very many first house overlays to be super attractive but that’s just me and my nature. With mercury here, the mercury person can come across as being VERY nit-picky and CRITICAL about the house/ascendant person. This is more prominent if mercury is on the ascendant. I have seen this twice, and it was the same in both instances. The mercury person would often make comments on the house persons appearance, likes/dislikes, mannerisms, just everything about them. Lol. Not a good synastry placement in my books. The “good” side is that the house person makes the mercury person feel very comfortable expressing their thoughts(but it’s also why they say things abt the house person that should be left unsaid). Also, the mercury person is usually more talkative. This can cause the house/ascendant person to feel unheard at times. It can feel very unbalanced and even physically draining for the house person.

Mercury in the 8th house synastry overlay can cause the house person to feel way too vulnerable. The mercury person could pry too much and ask too many questions, especially if they aren’t used to this type of energy in synastry. They want to know everything, I mean everything about the house person. They get annoyed if they can’t get the information they want. If this is a romantic relationship, you might see the mercury person secretly going through the house persons phone or belongings. This extreme manifestation is usually if mercury is negatively aspected in the natal chart or if there are other aspects indicating immaturity. If well aspected, the mercury person could be able to understand the house person very well, they know what makes them tic, they know what makes them happy, they know exactly how they’ll react to things. And they use this knowledge to deepen their bond and intimacy with their partner, instead of holding it against them.

One first house synastry overlay I do find attractive is Venus in their partner’s first house. The Venus person loves the way the house/ascendant person interacts with the world. Even if it’s not normally their nature, the house person feels “soft” around Venus. And this is reciprocated with Venus feeling comfortable expressing their true loving nature to the house person. Venus here helps create more balance and harmony in the first house which is associated with Aries, vs a critical mercury or an assertive mars.

Also an unpopular opinion: I do find first house planets in the composite to be very rewarding for the couple vs synastry where it can feel unbalanced. I’ve hardly ever read good things about the composite first house. But the composite is a combined chart. Not how one person feels towards the other. It is just how the relationship is. So having planets here in the composite can make the relationship just feel… good and natural. Sun here is especially great. Like they can truly be themselves around each other and around everyone else. Mercury here isn’t as critical and much less unbalanced since it’s a “merging” of the two birth charts.

I've a whole "trope theory" about different types of intelligence groups tend to have, and simply put it goes

book smarts, street (survival) smarts, emotional smarts, social smarts

and how those mix and match to show through in characters that are disregarded as stupid and I personally believe Steve is very Socially _and_ emotionally smart but because he's arguably in line to be the most toxic masculine people by reputation (not personality but the past -both his and his dads- linger) people don't notice it.

Hi anon, of course I want to talk about Steve's intelligence - because I am so so so tired of him being written off as the fool, and I am especially tired of people pretending like he is not the most emotionally intelligent person in the show other than potentially Will or Joyce. Also in advance, I totally go on a BUNCH of tirades and rants so I'm sorry if you lose the thread at all, I just have a lot of thoughts and they all FEEL important to me. So yeah, this is a long one.

I haven't read many fics where Neurodivergent! Steve's divergence is specifically autism and personally I feel that other divergences fit him better such as OCD (see - his need to keep things tidy, instances of reduced impulse control, repetitive/ritualistic behaviors, hypervigilance, and agitation), ADHD (see - his need to be moving lots of pacing and bouncing, difficulty concentrating on the group discussions, impulsivity), Dyslexia/Dyscalculia (personal/popular headcanon), or something that would affect his audio processing (personal/unpopular headcanon; see- being unable to get past the music on the recording, difficulty following along with the group discussions, immediately losing track of the group in the Upside Down Wheeler's house when he thinks he hears Dustin)- but I definitely read him as someone whose brain works in a way that is non-typical which is something we ABSOLUTELY see in season 3 where he focuses in on the music and it seems like he literally can't focus on the Russian words until he knows what the music is.

But what it comes down to is that so many people read the fact that he didn't get into college (which is more indicative of a lack of testing skills than it is for actual intelligence) and his inability to follow along with group discussions about Upside Down stuff (which could point to issues with concentration or audio processing or just a lack of knowledge regarding the lingo being used) as a way to characterize him entirely as an idiot/fool. This of course isn't helped by the Duffers refusing to deepen his character beyond "he was bad but now he's good because now he's interacting with intelligent™ people". So to answer this question, I'm all for fics that explore Steve's intellect through a lens of "no he's not dumb, he just processes information in an atypical way".

I'm not 100% sure I'm interpreting this question correctly but I have some issues with fics where the character of interest is 'pretending' to be stupid so it entirely depends on what the motivation behind doing so is.

If the motivation is "I play dumb so that I can fit in better and not be bullied for being smart" I don't like it that much - I feel like in a lot of media, and American media especially, there is this perpetuation of Smart=Unpopular/Bullied/Unathletic and Dumb=Popular/Bully/Athletic and I don't like that because in my lived experience that really isn't the case - I have friends that were the Valedictorian's of their high schools by gpa that were also class president and soccer captian and genuinely good people and some of the meanest people I have ever met were stereotypical™ nerds. So if the motivation is that he pretends to be dumb specifically to fit in and not get bullied I don't really like it. HOWEVER, if the motivation is "I downplay my intelligence so that people underestimate me" that's different and I can get behind it to a degree - no one is perfect and Steve was not the best person at first so him having a little manipulation bit like this would make sense.

Also this leads into another thing I feel we don't talk about enough - Steve is a jock with a head for STRATEGY and you cannot tell me otherwise. The ability to strategize is something we like to take away from jocks all across media, but as a former athlete myself I can tell you that a LOT of thought goes into athletic strategy and it translates well to other aspects of life. We also see Steve make quick strategic decisions A LOT but we never mention them - some examples include when he leads the scoops troop through the crowded russian base w/o getting caught - some of this is simply poor writing/tracking and i will admit that but if we suspend our disbelief for a second it's Steve that looks at the set up takes in the information and says "Follow me, stay low and be quick" as they navigate that scene, we also see it in season two when him and Dustin get to the junkyard and he says "oh yeah this will do nicely" and then he proceeds to set the stage for catching Dart with a clearing to trap him, a reinforced fort for protection and surveillance and honestly the only reason this goes wrong is because there was more than one demodog. So yeah being good with strategy lends itself well to Steve using his intelligence as a manipulation for others to underestimate him. I personally would love for there to be a fic where one of the kids challenges Steve to a strategy game like chess or risk or something like that and for him to DECIMATE them because strategy is the thing he's good at.

For one I would like to quickly put out there that Steve almost definitely got a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) from the Russian Torture - and probably PCS (Post Concussion Syndrome) from the fight with Billy (I would also like to quickly mention that these are different things with different causes and potential future outcomes/side effects, I feel like they get confused a lot in this fandom which is totally fine but just a reminder that a concussion comes specifically from your brain impacting your skull and how he receives his head injuries from Jonathan and the Russians would indicate to me that he probably didn't have a concussion those times but when he crashes the car in season three he could have easily gotten a whiplash concussion which is something we don't talk about but does actually happen a lot and it's less likely to get treated because people don't realize you can get a concussion w/o hitting your head. Also I am so sorry about this head trauma info dump, it's just a subject I have lots of experience with/knowledge about).

ANYWAY, yeah TBIs and PCS can really mess with your head and are often the cause of things like memory loss - as well as vision and hearing impairment. Also TBIs have been studied a lot in American Football players and sometimes they can even cause shifts in personality. (Also @peter-pantomime has some really good discussions and headcanons regarding Steve's head traumas so I highly suggest their content both here and on tiktok.)

And yes, Steve consistently proves to be extremely socially intelligent. You do not get to the top of the high school food chain by simply being attractive or athletic, you have to be capable of understanding and manipulating certain social interactions - walking into a room and knowing who to talk to and who to avoid, popularity is often just a matter of networking and part of the reason Steve loses his popularity is because he abandons the network he built himself up through and switches it out for a group of people much lower on the social ladder. We also can tell he's incredibly emotionally intelligent through his interactions with others - scenes that really show this are Steve cleaning up the theater sign and going to apologize to Jonathan (some might say this is just emotional maturity but i would like to point out that he was emotionally intelligent enough to realize that it was Jonathan that deserved the apology instead of just Nancy) (s1), when Will comes home and we see him empathize with the worry of Joyce & Jonathan (s2), when he can seemingly tell that something happened between Nancy and Jonathan but instead of lashing out he supports her (also s2), when Robin comes out to him and also technically rejects him but he just treats her like normal (s3), like… every scene with him and Max in S4, and also when he tells Eddie that he needs to stop being so hard on himself when he keeps talking about how much of a coward he is (also S4).

Yes do it, caveat: I think it needs to be Robin, Eddie, or Will - I think everyone else is a little too in their own way of realizing Steve has consistently made good points.

For Robin, as a Queer Platonic Stobin truther, I feel like if anyone were to really get into Steve's brain it would be her.

For Eddie, I feel it comes from that same vein that we see people pointing out that Eddie is the only person who directly answer Steve's questions, so it would make sense for him to be the one to say "wait hey - Steve is actually asking incredibly relevant questions that lead to a point he wants to make."

For Will, I simply think that he's the most emotionally intelligent member of the original Party and also the one with the fewest interactions with Steve so if he were to be with Steve in a time of crisis he wouldn't ignore Steve's thoughts the way that sometimes happens and notice something about how he processes information or something and be like "why did you guys all tell me he was dumb, he's making extremely relevant points right now?"

he is a far more complex character than some of u may think… actually im not gonna go that far there are too many machuk scholars on this goddamned web site. for the sake of gamegrowing i won’t lament too much more on that but anyway i think he’s really a testament to the power of charisma; if u are a dnd type of guy and u make a dnd character of machuk that is his number 1 stat. yes above strength. he understands more than i would say. Any hockey player out there. the power in knowing that the nhl is a show for people’s entertainment… the glory and gore of it all. he can dance the dance more than the rest of them can. it’s in his nature to play to the audience, love or hate. Very edmund kinglear.

i think theres something really to be said about his failed smythe run… how his dad called the cats soft and then allegedly started the brady’s better chant (brady is better and it’s crucial mattylore that u know that) but he refused to listen and then the cats snuck in. and how after sniping that ot gamewinner he looked at his teammates and told them we will be back here for game seven, and he was right, and they won that too. and also his devastating amount of up-fucking during the carolina series and then the dramatic fall from grace when he broke his sternum in the cup final. war god…

with his current status as the nhl’s protagonist what couldn’t u write w matthew in it… personally i think he’s too genre aware for something weird and bendy and full au-type so you’d have to go abt as mundane with it as u could. keep him in the real world let the people confuse him as opposed to the universe. i think a healthy dose of family drama would do him well. not that he’s not already experiencing that but we know so little about the REAL internal machinations of the tkachuk’s web you could make it go however you like

How I feel about this character: I like her !!! i feel like shes not talked about much outside of ships which is a shame because i feel like if people came together on her character (this includes people writing canon) then there could be a compelling character here that wouldnt deny her roots or just stay the same sort of trope she used to be. I cant deny i do enjoy that they occassionally dip into her little interest in tarot :) its nice to see that trait remembered.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: if she was ever playable again . Curious-Would you or your mom consider the joke abt Colin posting abt Welsh independence as them using his Welshness as a joking point?

Also- Do most or a large amount of Welsh people want independence or is that a minority opinion and thats what made that scene humorous?

I'm guessing this is from the same anon, so I'll answer both at the same time!

So I'll answer the second question first: to qualify, my mum's lived in England for around forty years and I've always been based in England, so I'm not necessarily the most qualified person to answer! (Welsh followers based in Wales, feel free to weigh in.) From what I've seen, the independence movement in Wales is less popular than the one in Scotland, which appears to be polling at 50/50 atm; and Plaid Cymru, the independence party in Wales, has 20% of the seats in the Welsh Parliament. Certainly there's plenty of call for it, but the idea of Welsh independence is not currently important enough to cause political headaches for the Tories in the way that Scottish independence is.

From my own experience, my mum has never been a big fan of the independence movement, not because she's not passionately, Welshly patriotic (she definitely is), but because she likes England as an adopted home as well and will feel sad about the two countries being separated, as well as worrying about whether independence would actually work - would there be a hard border? which country gives her official citizenship? what will happen to the Welsh economy? The rest of my mum's friends, who are largely in their 60s and 70s, also seem to tend towards either not wanting full independence, being largely apathetic towards the idea, or liking the idea but being fully and Welshy cynical that such a seismic change would go well.

(I should also note that as my mum is South Welsh and grew up at a time when the Welsh language was really not encouraged in the south, her Welsh is patchy at best and she's had one or two bad experiences going to North Wales - which did a far better job of keeping the language going - and being judged for not being able to speak it, so she hasn't always had the best experience with Welsh nationalism. Because this is tumblr, I should probably add at this point that the majority of our experiences in NW have been absolutely lovely :) but it does show that Wales isn't a monolith and there's definitely political diversity throughout.)

I imagine that supporters of Welsh independence will tend towards being more politically engaged, well educated, and possibly amongst the younger generation - although I imagine that if Scotland ever successfully declared independence and had a few good years of being an independent country without the economy tanking etc, the 'proof' that independence might work could strongly sway opinion in Wales.

Which brings me to your first point! 'Welshness as a joking point' may have been a poor way of putting it - there's plenty of jokes around Welshness which we'll be the first to make about ourselves! - I meant more 'Welshness as a reason to mock him', for example making sheep jokes or suggesting that the Welshman is the thick one in the group. Both my mum and I enjoyed that moment, and tbh I didn't really read 'Welsh independence is so unpopular' as the joke there. I would say it was more the idea that ditzy, daft Colin is nonetheless apparently so politically engaged that he's committed to Welsh independence to such an extent, when it's still a relatively lowkey movement.

(In the case of both Welsh and Scottish independence, I've also noticed that, regardless of age, many Welsh and Scots who come to settle in England are understandably less pro-independence than those who remain in their home country, even if they're very proudly Scots/Welsh. After all, independence means ramifications about where you live, how you’ll be returning to visit your family, your citizenship, etc. So there's another thing there: despite settling in London and being very committed to the flash, superficial footballer lifestyle, Colin has enough Hidden Depths to make his instagram the official social media campaign for Welsh independence.)

First impression:

My real first encounter with him was probably as a guest appearance within Green Lanterns, but the first book I read with him was GL/GA. I don't remember too much of what I thought of him there, it was probably more of a general "oh he seems cool I guess" kind of neutral/positive attitude. By the time I read a Hal comic I'd already met Simon, Jess, and Jo so he wasn't a contender for the spot of my favorite lantern. I never fully finished GL/GA though bc I had the book on loan

Impression now:

Mixed. There are some Hal moments I genuinely do love and like, but tbh he can get on my nerves very easily. Of the Earth lanterns he's either my least or next to least favorite (which doesn't mean I don't like him!) but he's also like the "main character" of GL so I get annoyed when I feel like other GLs are being ignored in favor of Hal.

Favorite moment:

With that said there are sooooooo many Hal moments I just love. He's very much a character made by specific moments for me (rather than a general appreciation of who he is overall). Some Swishy fave contenders include his "Avenge me" internal monologue when he fights Mongul in GL (1990) #46, and OFC the Emerald Twilight arc a few issues later. Also in the very first issue of that book, where he jumps off a cliff in front of some campers (waiting until the last moment before using his ring) was an important moment for me in reading Hal, because it was the first time I went "oh! This guy is crazy!"

Idea for a story:

An exploration of the fact that Hal literally killed himself on panel in GL (2011) #19. Because like what the hell, why did this happen and then NO ONE EVER TALKED ABOUT IT. (This is insane to me). I think I'd probably revisit it in a dream sequence, maaaybe doing a rewrite/reimagining of his Knight Terrors issue (which I have NOT read lol) to kind of address that and talk about his mental state and things that had an impact on that, stuff like his parents, the Guardians, PARALLAX. Basically it'd be Hal and the ghost of Tomar-Re just talking about how he is not okay. A pretty heavy response to a pretty heavy topic.

Unpopular opinion:

I'm going to be so real here like 95% of my Hal opinions are unpopular bc its just me talking about how I think he's overrated. Like we're bros ig but still. Overrated.

Like I LIKE him but I'm annoyed at him like 80% of the time bc DC is always putting out a mid story focusing on him while ignoring my faves WHO ARE SO COOL AND DESERVE STORIES 😤💔😭

I guess one beyond that is I'm not a fan of his friendship with Barry. Maybe this is just because I haven't read anything where they're like... interesting? But I just don't get the hype. ESPECIALLY compared to his relationship with Oliver which is absolutely insane in comparison. Like why are we talking abt Barry rn when OLLIE LITERALLY SHOT HAL AND HAL RESSURECTED OLLIE. like guys. Guys. Are you seeing this shit.

Favorite relationship:

Like ship wise? I'm not a huge Halcarol fan personally but I do think they're kind of the epitome of "you're perfect for each other. Never involve anyone else in what you have going on," kind of messy drama-filled relationship with a lot of history.

I also really like halollie and their relationship but not in like a "they should date" way or anything like that. Like they're bros to me who emotionally have a whole complicated little thing going on like idk

Within the lanterns I think the frenemy whatever thing Guy and Hal do is SO funny. I love especially the beginning of GL (1990) where Guy just in his free time shows up to ruin Hal's life while Hal is just so sick and done and mad about it. Peak comedy, Guy never change

Do I have any headcanons about Hal? Not really. I try to think about him as little as possible (kidding). No um I'd say I don't really have any, and if I did they'd probably be really basic or smth like that he cries watching both Top Gun movies.

so i havent rly seen that much obito meta recently (or any at all actually). so idk if this is still an unpopular opinion. but i think obito being convinced to change his path and join naruto against madara is quite sensical for him actually. obito is 1) more emotionally motivated and thus can also be influenced emotionally (unlike madara) and 2) much of his views kind of hinge on his ability to make others confirm them for him. as in breaking others down to the point of them adapting a similar worldview as him. obito did that with itachi by helping him w his genocide, he did it w nagato and the akatsuki as a whole but he couldnt do it w naruto. and thats why naruto could convince him to change his views.

whenever i see posts talking abt like. fandom. like "whats ur unpopular opinion that will make the rest of the fandom mad" or "whats ur fav thing abt ur fandom" or "sitting in bed rotating my blorbo in my mind" or whatever im like. lol. i have not felt passion in so many years. ihave not had the brainspace to get deeply involved in any sort of media/fandom/content in so many years. i have spent the last few years especially an empty shell for anxieties. a body that walks arnd and does stuff and talks to ppl and technicalyl engages in interests but there is no real engagement anymore. its all going thru the motions. and this is not an entirrly unfamiliar feeling 2 me ive been depressed+ since like middleschool. but at least when i was younger i had shows and games and hobbies and i coulr lose myself in them. i haad anxious thoughts impulsive thoughts intrusive thoughts etc but my head was also filled w fun or interesting thoughts abt my ocs, the media i was into, my hobbies etc. but now there is nothing. i barely even listen to music unless im driving. when i am laying in bed all i think abt are the problems im facing or my own insecurities or whatever. anxious andd depressing and paranoid and. yeah. even when i consciously try 2 think abt things i like there is nothing. i feel nothing its hard to think of things to think abt. headcanons silly jokes analysis none of it comes to me even when i try. i would say this is just a part of growing up but most ppl i follow and are friends w r all within my age range. and plenty of them r mentally ill or traumatized or being actively abused/hurt but they still find escape. they can still watch a movie and then think about nothing but that for the next week. they can see a thing they like ans get excited abt it. tbey can get high and play video games and actually just think abojt the game and how much they like their fav character. instead of. physically doing the action but constantly arguing w someone in their head or debating if theyre a good person or not. or whatever. ad nauseam . every day. now that ive moved out and am working on myself the rumination is a bit better but now when im not constantly worrying abt interpersonal issues or whatever theres just a blank. the now freed up space hasnt gone back to thinking silly fun things its just blank or boring. my brain used to be a place i could escape but now i cant escape anywhere ever at all. even smoking weed or drinking or whatever doesnt help in any capacity. i am both trapped in my head and unable to be there anymore

im going to be real my first impression of quinn was from noted quinn scholar tanya txstars talking abt him. i dont even know what the first little bit was about because i was like “yeah everyone i follow just has that one guy they’re obsessed with” and then i actually saw photos of quinn and then started to Get It.

jack was the more famous of the three from the getgo. I knew he was a devil but didn’t know which one was jack and which one was nico for a while so there is that

and i’m like 90% sure my first thoughts on luke were THERE’S A THIRD ONE???

IMPRESSION NOW

Quinn: he is my scrungly. More than the generic fact that i find him hot in a wetpathetic roadside cat kind of way and that i am impressed and delighted by his skating and his ice time, I do really genuinely like him. He comes across as somehow both an idiot well-meaning jock and as an honestly intelligent man; maybe he’s just an airhead stoner. He’s the eldest daughter of our dreams. He should absolutely be the next captain of the Canucks. He’s level-headed and stands up for his teammates off the ice (talking openly about how he thinks they mishandled an injury!?) and is just… an ideal man. He’s also definitely got ghosts after him.

Jack: NIGHTMARE CHILD. I probably first started to hear his name from all the xreader writers who wanted to take him to prom, but once you actually start looking at and seeing him beyond the Boy Band Fluff, he’s… kind of a greasy sharp-toothed demon child? I do like him -- quite a good deal, to be honest, but the instant he let sweat slick his hair back and the playoffs knocked a tooth out he immediately became Interesting to me, as opposed to just some mouse.

Luke: Luke’s relative lack of screentime means my impression is a lot less nuanced than the other two: he both terrifies and excites me. Terrifies because the Devils are in my conference so i’ll have to see him three times a year… and excites because Quinn, Ellen, and Jack all say that he’s the best of the three of them. Can you BELIEVE how good that would make him. Quinn’s one of the best offensive defencemen on the planet (and pretty good defensively, despite what you might think!) and still has a few years before his peak, Jack’s a hundred-point forward at 21, and Luke is BETTER THAN BOTH OF THEM.

Quinn: the “taking his ESL teammates out to the movies” is endlessly charming to me… even if he picked rather a terrible movie to show to his esl teammates. also pretending to be a really bad driver at petey. Older brother supreme

Quinn: there was once a canucks raffle, where you could win bags each of the canucks had chosen stuff for… most of it was kind of generic. wine, a trip somewhere nice in the city, sometimes you’d get a sweater or a record or something. quinn chose cast iron pans and a cookbook. he wants to know how to cook well, he drives a reasonable car instead of petey’s fancy sports cars, he gets esl teammates to repeat his meaning back to him so he knows they understand. he’s grounded in a way few hockeys are and this is part character analysis from what we know and part extrapolation but that’s SO fascinating to me. i think he also knows stuff like how to sew on a button and clean an oven and tie a tourniquet.
