To me the most fucked up thing in the whole novel is the people at Dmitri's trial laughing at Ilyusha's father, reading that part genuinely made me feel sick and I'm not being hyperbolic, it was hard to read for me.
That poor man had been made fun of for being publicly humiliated and beaten by Dmitri and given a demeaning nickname that stuck for months, his twelve year old child is slowly dying of a horrible disease, he breaks down crying testifying at the trial of the man who had publicly humiliated and beaten him that he attended disheveled and drunk because he's obviously going through a lot, and they laugh at him. What the fuck. That's seriously fucked up and cruel and Ivan was right, even in his delirium, when he said those people just wanted to witness a freakshow to have a good laugh.

I posted something to this effect on my other blog, but it's been on my mind and essentially begging me to talk about it again so...
This post is dedicated to the people who might have caused their disability or may have made it worse in some way or another. This post is dedicated to people who haven't done the "right things" in the past, who weren't perfect, who weren't flawless robots.
Regardless of why you're disabled, you still need and, most importantly, deserve any accommodations for said disability. You cannot separate the "good disableds" from the "bad" ones. You are never required to prove that you're "innocent" before people are compassionate about your disability. Do not for a minute be convinced otherwise, for your own sanity.

it’s so cute (/s) when basil fans whine about how “basil feels so guilty all the time and he has abandonment issues cuz his parents were jerks and he’s just a kid who makes mistakes wah wah don’t ever criticize him ever” and then turn around call aubrey a bully when SHE feels so guilty all the time and has abandonment issues cuz her parents are jerks and she’s just a kid who makes mistakes.
hmm.
you’re in a stalemate now basil fans. you can’t admit that basil is your smol innocent baby without admitting that aubrey also is one, which she’s not, right?
so that means basil can’t be either! wow! what a concept, a boy doing something wrong and not having a million excuses made for him?? how wild.

one way to say you havent seen the barbie movie without saying you haven’t seen the barbie movie is hating on female characters that are just normal girls who don’t do very much. or writing off female characters as shallow because they don’t have outwardly exceptional traits (i.e. big massive boobs, incredible otherworldly power, super tiny boobs, she owns a business and also runs a country and also she’s really mean and cold because that’s hot and it goes against the gender stereotype, she’s an alien, she’s a furry, she’s secretly a spy, her personality is very clearly different and special OR she’s so mysterious that she REALLY has no personality but bc she’s so vaguely mysterious that doesnt matter bc the mystery makes her deep and alluring, etc)
girls can just be girls.. girls just.. wanna have…. fun..
let us embrace the concept of the ambiguous female character, i beg of you. just as there are twink boys and big buff himbos, let there be president barbies and “just mom” barbies. how about we just. stop placing expectations of either extreme onto anyone. let’s try that. thank you

Nothing pisses me off more than seeing a video of an actor and everyone in the comments is calling them by the name of some character they played. Like if you say "They really are so similar to [insert character they played]" then sure, but I keep seeing actors doing interviews or appearing on shows and everyone's like "[name of character]" AND IM LIKE NO!!! THAT IS A REAL LIVING HUMAN PERSON, YOU ARE SO ANNOYING. THEY ARE AN ACTOR. AND I MIGHT LOVE THEIR CHARACTER JUST AS MUCH AS YOU DO BUT THIS IS A REAL PERSON WITH A NAME, CALL THEM BY IT!!!
And while we're on that, when they are posting things as themselves, stop acting like their real life is the movie/show they played in??? Like a poor actor announces they're getting married for example and everyone's like "oh nooo what would your fictional partner think about this how could you do this to them" THEY WOULDN'T. THEY'RE FICTIONAL.
Or "Oh I never knew [character name] could do this" AND IT'S THE ACTOR DOING IT, NOT THE CHARACTER. YEAH YOU DIDNT KNOW THE CHARACTER DID THIS BECAUSE THEY DON'T. BUT THE HUMAN PLAYING THEM CAN. CAUSE THEY ARE NOT THE SAME.
Stop acting like actors are acting ooc when they are just being their fucking selves.

Joachim to Hector: Oh, you're a silver haired pretty boy with special powers turned into a toy by a cruel vampire Lord and who rebelled against him? mood :D
I imagine Joachim to have a few loose screws lol. He's not evil, but he can be a little... too much. He wants to help Hector because he projects on him, but he also has fun teasing him and has no sense of personal space or social skills - he likes to call him a dog if he's too loyal to Dracula, or wolf if she shows his fangs.
Hector is uncomfortable with the personal tauntings, and he's often this close to snapping and showing him that he's more of a wolf :) but he does genuinely appreciate Joachim's care, even if it comes off weirdly.
So yeah, you can go to different interest places with this crackship :P
Omg… Zero social skills x zero social skills… A match made in Heaven 🥰… Or somewhere at least???
I Imagine Hector being very distant and reserved, he tends to self isolate a lot because he’s like scared of being hurt or how he’s perceived etc. Joachim also self isolates but he doesn’t really care about how other people see him it’s just been so long that he’s kinda lost interest in interacting.
When Joachim does find someone who piques his interest [Hector] he can get kinda intense about it because it’s so rare that he feels anything for anyone. He also probably has really bad jealously problems.
Hector is often confused on if Joachim cares about him or not because of how he behaves towards him. Joachim has a bit of an ego and enough ‘brutal honesty’ to kill a man meaning many of his insults are just observations about Hector he maybe should have reworded.
Hector tries to introduce Joachim to new people in hopes he’ll find someone new to cling to but he just doesn’t care. Hector thought he was like Joachim, completely disinterested in people… Until he met Joachim and was surprised to find out he’s not disinterested just scared. That at least gave him the small bit of assurance to start creating and rebuilding relationships.
So yeah imagining Joachim helping Hector through a difficult episode and he’s saying some pretty decent advice but he can’t help insulting Hector because to Joachim he’s not saying anything wrong.
