Necromancy that decays the caster. Their fingers start greying and rotting, always cold, skin sloughing off until they've nothing bones left, hidden by gloves. The stench of rot follows wherever they go. Flies hover around them. They have to pick out maggots before they become consumed - not that they can even feel the wriggling beasts anymore.
Their face sinks in, their eyes fall deeper within their skull, dark shadows accentuation every hollow orifice, waiting to be revealed by slowly rotting skin. Their muscles ache as they atrophy and stop working. Their hair is thin and losing color. It is not long before their eyes become milky white, staring at nothing. Teeth fall out, hair falls out, their skin has patches where the skin is decaying and falling away. The more spells they cast, the closer they become to being the dead they raise.

thinking about your coral room series again and about how jason would absolutely be the reluctant "prize" of upper society. everyone wants to be his mate to secure the bag
Which is SO funny to me because he's the least omega omega ever, he's only been an omega for a few months (so he knows very few of the societal cues/expectations) and he's like six feet of muscle. He doesn't defer, doesn't drop his eyes at challenges, and would absolutely fight someone if they tried to crowd/influence him.
And yet. He's pretty and strong. He's the heir to a massive family fortune, you would have Bruce Wayne himself as your in-law. And if you actually talk to him like he's a person and not just a decorative omega, he's actually super down to earth? He's loyal, he cares about his pack, and he's good with kids.

Thinking about the episode where Dipper and Mabel went back in time and ran into kid-Wendy, who thought Dipper was cute, and it was kind of this "wow" moment for him. Now I can't stop imagining a scenario in the familiar au where a married, up-and-coming demon hunter Dipper Pines, along with Bill, have to go back in time for whatever reason to about when he was 12. He figures they should keep a low profile if they want to return to their timeline unchanged, but they end up bumping into Dipper's younger self, back when he was first dropped off and all noodle armed and couldn't really defend himself against the town bullies. Almost as if on cue, a group of kids come up on young Dipper and try to pick on him, only for adult Dipper to ward them away. Older Dipper still considering himself kind of a massive loser with a lot to learn, but his younger self just looks at this strange new-comer and thinks he's SO COOL🤩🤩🤩!!! And maybe follows him around a bit in admiration, silently saying stuff about wishing he were "that strong," or "that smart," or "ever a little cool." And Dipper has that same "wow" moment, but for an entirely different reason. Maybe he did grow up to be everything he wanted to be as a kid, and maybe even the kid version of him wasn't a loser to begin with; people were just serious jerks.
(Bonus points if Stan definitely knows who this flame-wielding stranger that just blew into town is, and seeing how Dipper's grown and matured puts him at ease and makes him more confident that maybe he can raise the twins on his own. Look at the kid go. He did something right.)
Anon, why must you tempt me with new ideas when I have so many WIPs

Okay, the hidden marriage idea is adorable and I'm going to make it even more adorable. Since gold is hard to come by, you made the rings out of the spent brass from fired rounds and made them into rings.
Each Spartan would have different engravings, and keep the ring secret in different places.
THIS-
Here's the thing, the Spartans would recognize where the bullets come from. You give Linda a ring made from one of her shots, and she will immediately tag it from Nornfang. Kelly's from her precision shots, Fred's from his tactical maneuvers - each one is a piece of their accomplishments. It's like wearing their victories on their fingers, and adding that special engraving on it, one that came from their partner and they will fight for this piece of property.
I think apart of them is scared it's gonna get taken away, so the Spartans always feel the need to hide it. It's why John will always take off the ring and place it on his dog tags when he's out of the suit, they're both a part of him and no one looks twice.

Hot take: Marsh didn’t love Mare.
Okay okay hear me out. I take that back. Yes, he absolutely loved her, but not romantically.
Marsh isn’t the sort of person to have friends. He has people close to him, people he trusts, but they’re not his friends. He’s used to being alone, and likes it that way, actually. It’s not because he doesn’t care about people; it’s because he cares too much. The skaa rebellion is his heart and soul, the thing he has devoted his entire life to. He loves the skaa. He feels every bit of their pain as his own, because it IS his own. That level of devotion to a cause doesn’t leave much room for close personal bonds.
And then Mare comes along. She meets him and joins the revolution, because I love the headcanon that he’s the one who brought her into all this. And slowly she teaches him how he’s been wrong about friendship; how having a few close people you care deeply about, and how caring about something so huge as the skaa rebellion, aren’t mutually exclusive. She teaches him how having friends as a leader makes him stronger, not weaker.
He figures out she’s a tineye long before she realizes he’s a seeker, but in the end, their powers turn out to compliment each other very well. He can sense allomancy, and she can detect the faintest of noises and slightest movements. As a lookout pair for the rebellion and for the crew, they’re unstoppable.
(On a sidenote, that forces him to acknowledge Kelsier’s friends, and how his brother draws strength from other people, not from being alone. Kelsier is strong because he has his crew- Marsh is strong because he has himself.)
But Marsh and Mare become friends, and she’s the first person he’s ever grown that close to, that he’s ever cared about so strongly on that individual, personal level. He loves her, yes, as his best friend and close companion, but he doesn’t love her romantically.
But then there’s Kelsier. There’s always been Kelsier. He sees Mare, and he’s in love with her, completely and romantically.
If we want to go on a personal note here: a while ago, two of my best friends started dating each other. I was happy for them both, because it was really sweet and they did like each other. I wouldn’t exactly say I was jealous, per se. The thing is, I had a different friend start dating someone shortly before these two did, and she started spending so much more time with her new boyfriend, doing everything with him, and it didn’t feel as though she had much time for any of her old friends who weren’t with her romantically. I was so scared that my two very good friends who had started dating would do the exact same thing, that I would turn into an awkward third wheel, that I would be the one excluded from the group now that they were dating.
I fully admit that’s a personal failing on my part. I guess you would say that I was jealous, and a complete hypocrite, because I believe if you’re with someone romantically, you also need to be friends with them and love doing stuff with them, you know? In the end, it all turned out more or less fine for everyone involved. There was one awkward breakup, but they’re still on fairly good terms.
Basically what I’m trying to say here is that the exact same thing can be applied to Marsh, Mare, and Kelsier. Projecting onto fictional characters I don’t know what you mean. Mare is his best friend, and when she and Kelsier start courting, Marsh is so afraid that he’ll lose her and that when she’s with Kelsier, her lover, her husband, she won’t have time for her best friend anymore.
And honestly, knowing Marsh, he’d get bitter about it. In his belief that Mare would leave him for Kelsier, he’d push her away, push both of them away. And it would be hard and messy and they’d all get hurt, and in the end, I think this would be a much better explanation for why Kelsier and Marsh are so opposed. And we can even take it a step farther and say the reason Vin is told “oh yeah Marsh was also in love with Mare” is just because that’s the easier explanation. Marsh doesn’t care what they say anymore. If they want to think that he loved her romantically, sure, let them. They’d never understand how deep it went anyway.
I think a lot of this also comes from my belief that Mare deserved better. She deserved so much more than just being fridge motivation for not one but two men whose character arcs are dragged down simply by merit of her being there. Don’t take that the wrong way- of all the characters in the cosmere, Kelsier and Marsh are my two favorites - but there’s so much MORE that could have been done with Mare. She deserves more both as a character and within the story itself, and there could be a lot more than “Kell and Marsh hate each other cause they were both in love with her”. Like I also adore Mare as a character, or at least, the fandom’s take on her, and she would never put up with the brothers’ bullshit.
Oh god I feel like I just finished an essay and now I have to write the conclusion paragraph. I hate conclusions.
Mare loved Marsh. Marsh loved Mare. They were close friends, but it wasn’t romantic, and when Kelsier entered the equation, everyone got jealous and everyone got hurt. Platonic connections and relationships are every bit as deep and meaningful as romantic ones. Basically what I’m trying to say here is that Marsh and Mare were absolutely platonic soulmates, no romance involved, and Marsh inadvertently ruined it because of Kelsier.
Marsh deserves more as a character, but even more than that, MARE deserves better.
On that note, I’m off to write a fic about this that will never get past a first draft. See y’all later

A little Royalty/Consort AU because I got very inspired by @gallawitchxx’s prompt of ‘tease’ for @galladrabbles.
———
Ian’s doing what every prince before him has done at 21 - choosing a consort.
The man, Mickey, who works at the royal brothel asks him what he likes in a woman.
Problem is, he doesn’t like women. Not like that. Ian’s vague answers clearly frustrate Mickey.
“Shall I just pick a woman for you?”
“What if…..it was not a woman. But a man?”
To say Mickey is shocked is an understatement. Ian fears the worst.
But then he just smiles, a teasing look in his eyes. “No-one has asked that before. Let me…..uh, see what I can do.”

Even though I can understand Wednesday’s friends being upset with her for using them for her own means, I also think they are looking at Wednesday from their own perspective of how they would have acted in Wednesday’s shoes. They would have considered another’s feelings, but that’s not who Wednesday is. Her own perspective is that feelings are a weakness and acts in a way she deems best benefiting of her own objectives. Of course she would go in Xaiver’s art studio, she was trying to solve a mystery. Same goes for utilizing Tyler and Enid to check out the Gates mansion in her ambition to discover the truth. Yes it was an invasion of privacy, and yes it put Tyler and Enid in danger. But it was worth it in her mind. She never made herself out to be someone she wasn’t. Everyone else often projected onto her who they wanted her to be though, and it frustrates me when they get angry at her for not meeting their own expectations.
