Not explicitly. I started making games because  I got frustrated waiting to feel seen or acknowledged. Another game got me mad about using my peoples stories to be transphobic, to be racist, to be ableist. Nevermind my people have more than two genders traditionally and faced a genocide. That was too much for me. I said this was enough and the quite indignities I suffered to feel included wasn’t worth it. I could do better myself.  So I set out to make a superhero game. I hated just about every comic book game on the market. It never seemed to capture what I did like about big hero comics with high concept storytelling and powers and couldn’t care less on a mechanical or narrative level about who this person was outside the mask. More focused on bashing action figures together and golden age pastiche that doesn’t really reflect the decades of character and genre developments that have happened since then. I later found games that do it better, but I was dissatisfied... I chose x-men for the homies. I’ve always been an x-men fan. A lot of people my age were. My first action figure was one of rogue I got at a garage sale, where she then went on to fight many a play-dough monster. But for many of us it was the first place we were allowed to be heroes. There are no natives on the 90′s x-men team. But I had uncles and older kids all too eager to tell me about Forge and Warpath (I hate that name) and my favorite Dani Moonstar (I ain’t the biggest fan of that name either, but she’s the closest thing mainstream hero comics have to a good NDN).

After that, things just kinda flowed from there. The X-men have such a focus on community. It’s “comics greatest soap opera”. It can be messy, complicated, beautiful and life-affirming all at the same time. They take the time to play basketball, go to the mall, and have birthday parties as they grow. Two of my favorite x-men comics aren’t about fighting at all. One is framed around a sleepover some students have, and another is about a wedding and framed around everyone filming their part of the wedding tape.

So I started thinking about the communities I’ve been a part of. A big core of the game is informed by my time and the people I met in these sort of spaces. As a native, as a queer person, as a disabled person I’ve been both someone who needed them and someone who gave back.

Which suited x-men just fine. X-men has cared about that sort of thing from about X-men #3 with the first appearance of The Blob, establishing it’s tone of sympathy and mutants as a minority analog.

I just kept going and I didn’t stop. And apparently I did a good job. Someone out there has been using my game as game-therapy and community outreach in a gender health center out in California. I got a lot of kind words for the game too (which is good, because I spent 3 years on it).

Is Dan's shadow a succubus? Or more appropriately an incubus?

Homie, how would I know?! I'm watching the same show as you. If I knew what that shadow was, I wouldn't need to suffer through the last seven episodes. I was too busy being scared for my life the first seven episodes to truly think about what that shadow was, and now I have to sit through seven more just like alls the rest of ya to figure this puzzle out!

But why are we gendering the shadow? Is the shadow male? To me, the shadow is just energy, possibly a physical manifestation of Dan's trauma; therefore, is it an extension of him. Like Peter Pan's shadow!

@kenjiyabuki went full big-brain and noticed the painting in the background of Brother Anurak's office is Henry Fuseli's The Nightmare.

Ain't no detective like a Tumblr detective.

And because of this, I immediately went to my favorite art historian (I go to departments often asking BL-related questions which is one perk of working in higher ed), and she immediately said, "It's about sex."

More specifically, repression of desire.

Not everyone subscribes to this interpretation, but . . .

There is a mirror and a vial of water in the left bottom corner on the table in the painting. Mirrors mean truth and serve as a bridge between the two worlds (truth/lie, life/death, conscious/subconscious), while water (describe as a mirror-like substance) also serves as a bridge between two worlds. We don't see the mirror fully, so we don't see the truth of the situation, but two worlds are colliding within the painting.

We've seen a good amount of mirrors in the show.

And water.

The show doesn't have a crazy-looking horse in the background unless we are considering the makruk pieces, which are called "horses" and not "knights" like in chess, the horse in this scenario.

That's a stretch even for me, but we still have the bare basics - a person with the weight of desire resting on him.

A desire to be comforted when nobody holds him.

A desire to be protected when he feels abandoned.

A desire to feel normal.

And Trin had the same desires.

There is definitely some funky business happening at the school because Trin and Dan are linked through their desires and experiences, but the shadow was there long before Dan stepped onto the campus.

Detour - In the third episode, the monk told Dan in order to change his karma, he needed to forgive when the time came after Dan saw his dad briefly playing makruk in his dream. At the end of that episode, Dan saw his father's ghost while he was acting the ghost scene from Hamlet, which is a play about revenge and forgiveness.

The shadow led Dan through a tour of his family's happiest moments in episode four right before he encountered his father again.

And his father asked for his forgiveness.

To which Dan said "hell to the no"

And this is why I think the shadow IS Dan. The monk told him to forgive to change his karma. The shadow led Dan to do just that, but Dan didn't; therefore, he didn't beat his karma and ghost-dad told Dan he was becoming everything he hated. Was this conversation all in Dan's head? Was he, through the shadow, guiding himself to be better than his father? And did he override his subconscious to seek revenge instead because that's what he truly desires?

More interestingly is what shows up every time someone chooses revenge over forgiveness - Trin! Rather than the shadow lurking in the water after Dan's dad died, Trin was waiting for him.

Trin was waiting for him in the bathroom to lead Dan into the funhouse when Nai decided to teach Anan a lesson.

And Trin showed up right before Anan attacked Dan.

Each time, the mirrors and water are present, so wouldn't that make Trin The Nightmare?

Of course, I, a color demon must mention how I find the use of red fascinating mostly when thinking about it in correlation to the painting since red is behind the nightmare figure.

And it spreads underneath the sleeping person in white as if that innocent person is being surrounded by this desire.

All of this is to basically sum up that Trin has a face. The shadow doesn't. Trin is a person. The shadow isn't. Just like those headless figurines the locals use as stand-ins for them to appease the wild ghosts and protect them from harm, Dan's faceless shadow could be his way of protecting himself and hiding his desires from outside forces.

And Trin could be a way to expose all that's hidden, including those desires.

BatFamily: Omegaverse Edition

I have been recently re-hit by my enduring, overwhelming love for these anxious, extremely competent, disaster humans. So I'm making this post to cope with the Feelings.

This is just going to be a breakdown of the gender designations I usually give each member of the family, and why, the short version, because there's a lot of them. (Does include some more peripheral members, the only requirement to be included here is to be part of the core cast really)

I might do more in-depth posts for them on an individual basis at some point in the future.

Also this post is p much ship-neutral, with some acknowledgements of canonical relationships.

In age order...

Talia: (Becuase she is actually the oldest rip) Talia is an omega. Her relationship with Ra's in the comics is in a large part defined by his despair that she would be the perfect heir "were she not a woman" (pause for eyeroll) (Ra's is an alpha, of course. He doesn't get a full section because fuck him) This is just that scaled up. She also took control of multiple criminal organizations partly by weaponizing her femininity (but mostly by killing people and we love that for her). This also adds some layers of complication to her relationship with Damian. And also the rest of the Bats and Birds but Damian is the one she cares about.

(Also like, on a more serious note, the absolute character assassination she has undergone during her run time is horrific in a way that is very much centered around her identity as a woman, and specifically a woman of color, and I cannot in good conscience ignore that. Fuck Grant Morrison. All my homies hate Grant Morrison)

Alfred: Alfred is an alpha. Yes, I know most fics have him as a beta but I firmly believe alpha fits more with both his backstory (military and theater) and character (very protective and willing to get lethal with it.) He's a very low-key alpha, who, as the Wayne family butler, most people assume to be a beta, but his is very much an alpha.

Bruce: I write Bruce as a beta. Brucie Wayne is the epitome of non-threatening himbo and being a neutral beta helps with being not taken seriously as a danger. It also adds a wider layer of disguise for Batman, since the general consensus is that Batman has to be an alpha. (Also lets me have the trinity be "one each"* and that makes me happy. They’ll get their own post together soon)

Beta Bruce also means he gets to be consistently flummoxed by his children’s situations. He is more comfortable with alpha things, since both Alfred and his parents are/were alphas so they’re more familiar to him.

Selina: An omega. (As you can tell, Bruce may or may not have a bit of a weakness for omega women who don't take anybody's shit XD) Selina is an archetypal femme fatal (though also so much more) couldn't have her be anything else. This also adds to her reputation in Crime Alley, both in the sense of building herself into a serious faction and in her reputation as a safe space for strays.

Barbara: An alpha. More independent than the rest of her generation, only a Bat on her own terms and has never worked for Batman, only with him. As Oracle, who most people never meet in person, she is fairly genderless, though very much fem-presenting, but that counts a bit less in an omegaverse context.

Dick: Dick Grayson is an omega, the tendency towards being flattened into "sexy golden retriever and support of the family" and ignoring of the very real complexity in his character and storylines? he couldn't be anything else. (No, I'm not salty, don't @ me) Robin is genderless/gender neutral, Nightwing is an omega. (Titans era Dick Grayson did not give a flying fuck, as appropriate for a run about teenagers figuring out who they are in the world.)

Cass: I usually write Cass as either a beta or an omega. Part of her character is how she is deceptively non-threatening at first glance while being able to absolutely wipe the floor with the majority of her opponents. I usually lean beta for her, because I think it adds to her bond with Bruce. She has very firm connections with Babs, because of her support and care, so giving her that kind of mirror to Bruce helps balance out that relationship. It also allows for the continuation of Beta Batman in the Future. (Because Cass absolutely should be the next Batman I have been saying this for a decade and I stand by it)

Jason: Jason is an alpha. There is just something about the particular flavor of non-toxic masculinity that comes with Jason’s character that I think lends itself to this very well. Also something something expectations of violence and choices.

Stephanie: Steph is an omega. When I was first figuring these out (back in like, 2016-ish) I went back and forth between beta and omega for her before ultimately coming down in favor of omega. On the shallow side, it allows for the three main batgirls to hit each gender option. On the character history side I think it fits her teen pregnancy storyline she had. And it just fits her particular story imo. She fought literally everyone to be a vigilante. Everyone in her life has told her no at some point.

Tim: Works well with any gender, I usually opt for beta!Tim just because I think it lends itself well to his general perception as Bruce’s mini-me (despite how far from the truth that is in some significant ways). Usually if I’m not writing him beta I’m writing him alpha.

Duke: Duke I lean towards alpha both because it helps balance the family out (the perils of being the newcomer) and also I have a fondness for “chill but also absolutely unhinged” characters as alphas. Also, in a similar way to Jason, his gender means people tend to assume/underestimate how much his intelligence is involved in what he does (intersectionality also hits hard here let’s be real). I just really like the idea of Jason and Duke sending like, crossword puzzles back and forth to each other as a weird form of bonding okay.

Damian: Imma be honest Damian is who I go back and forth on the most. Any option gives a good story for his character, they’re just all different ones. Baby Damian would consider being an omega something to be ashamed of, being an alpha proof of his superiority, and being a beta merely acceptable (and maybe a way to relate to his father). As he grows into the person he is now, it would be either accepting his own worth, or accepting the worth of others, and figuring out how his gender identity and the social roles that come with it play into who he is as a hero and as a person.

I adore Damian so much. When I first was getting into comics he and Dick were just wrapping up their stint as Batman and Robin and they hold a special place in my heart.

Genetically, all three options are possible for him, his mother is an omega, his father a beta, and at least three out of four grandparents are alphas.

ok so i had this really weird dream last night that was also oddly realistic because ik that if my cousin had an ao3 he would have no idea how to use it and would have something about there only being 2 genders in his username and if my ex?/parter?/best friend? had an ao3 they'd figure out how to customize the font for their username.

idk if you had an ao3 but in my dream you did and then in the comments of one of your fics i found both my cousin (all the phobics and isms) and my ex?/parter?/best friend? and then i opened both profiles in a new tab however my cousin's profile brought me straight to his tumblr and the subtitle (i think it's called a subtitle) was "anti-byler" but he couldn't spell so it was it "anyt-byler" and his ao3 username was like three different usernames all next to each other and one of them was something like Only2Genders

and then i was going to see if my ex?/parter?/best friend? had any fics but i woke up before i could :(

also watching the 900 subscriber special and thinking to myself "well I stare at my homies like that" but then i realized i was literally only thinking of two people when i thought that both of whom i've had a crush on and then i started thinking about my other homies and realized no i actually dont stare at my homies like that

Apathetic. Everything and nothing all at once. The character customization screen. Tired.

9. When did you realize you weren't cishet?

Still figuring out the cis part. But in online spaces I always hated being tied down to a specific gender and in person I hate being tied to presenting one consistent way. As for the het part, my realization came from dating someone of the same sex and then nonstop daydreaming about the possibilities of being with someone like that. Like a hopeless little romantic. Also growing up I was always like, "Damn I wish we could pick our sexuality and gender, then I could be bi and genderless that would be so cool. Too bad that aint me..." LOL

10. Something that gives you gender euphoria (whether you're cis or trans):

Doesn't happen a lot, but when people can't tell what I am at first glance? Delish. When people feel gay around me? Yum. If you think I'm hot, you're gay. Congrats!

It's freeing to not be tied down to cishet labels. Also being gay is fun.🙂 I love my gay homies. I celebrate queer friendships/relationships and the sense of community. The art community especially. It's some nice stuff.

34. What are you needing most right now (what would make your life easier or more fulfilling in regards to existing as queer)?

I wish my family would put half as much effort they do into understanding, learning and accepting the LGBT+ community as they did with get rich quick schemes. They just all seem so selfish and ignorant to the world around them.

I wish I could control what my voice sounded like and that binding was more effective.

Not being afraid of getting murdered/bothered and having the law protect me and my loved ones would be nice.

One time I described gender to my therapist as a "vast swimming pool". At the time I couldn't really describe it further than that, and to be honest, I still can't.

How do you describe that feeling? Of something so abstract and so painfully personal that unless they were in your shoes, they wouldn't understand?

GETTING INTO THE RELATIONSHIP

you guys have probably known each other a long time, because homebody does not fall for just anyone, so if you become the object of his affections, you better feel HONORED. hehe honored 

i feel like it takes him a lot of time to actually accept his feelings for you are beyond platonic. the main reason he falls for you is probably your consistency in his life since thats something he tends to lack. like his mom? gone. his dad? kicked him out of the only place he ever knew. his life is filled with major changes so if you guys have known each other since childhood then consistency is key

once he realizes he likes you he kinda panics because what if you don’t accept him? what if you leave? even worse, what if you leave because he likes you? so now he’s panicking, and naturally, as one does, Zuko avoids his problems. You, being the problem. And his emotions, but he is in denial so

definitely talks to his uncle about the two of you A LOT, especially when he is first figuring out his feelings and trying to figure out what to do about them

his uncle is an elite wingman, constantly tries to get the two of you to be alone in the same space or get information out of you in regards to you

when it comes to confessing i can see a few situations

situation one is that zuko confesses completely by accident, freaks out, disappears, avoids you even more, like homie is a mess. after you get fatally injured, or maybe when he thinks you are asleep, or he just kinda blurts it out in conversation when you guys are doing something domestic. regardless, it is entirely by accident, and now zuko is freaking the heck out.

“excuse me-”

so that’s how zuko gets his dragon from LOK, storytime over

you kinda have to find him and get a word in before he runs off because he is really scared of rejection, he doesn’t want you to leave and assumes that if the situation is never addressed then you can’t leave woohoo problem solved. 

his uncle yells at him lol

when you corner him you gotta confess super fast and handle his anxieties because he is super worried about you hating him now even though it is the opposite. 

“please don’t leave me.”

“we are dating now. i like you, you like me, so we are dating.”

situation two is equally chaotic, but far less dancing around the feelings since you confess! congrats! you have more balls than me! im so proud! good job bb!

when you confess, its probably late at night, a comfortable silence between the two of you, or maybe he’s ranting about something, like how dumb the concept of tea is idk. regardless this is DOMESTIC, so it’s soft and cute and you are just like you know what screw it this nerd is so easily flustered by me maybe he likes me back! look at us cuddling like a couple! might as well make it official!

you gotta give him a hot minute to process all the information you just gave him, he is in shock for a short while, kinda just sitting there confused. once it gets through his thick skull that you like him he’s gonna thank you 💀

then he’ll ask you how you wanna handle this and boom you have a boyfriend now good job! 

DURING THE RELATIONSHIP

dating during a war is hard so when y’all first start dating, probably towards the end of the war when he finally joins the Gaang, its gonna be really chaotic and you guys are still gonna be sorting through everything, like what kinda couple do you wanna be? neither of you know

kisses are rare during this time, especially since zuko is a generally private person who doesn’t really do PDA much, especially since he wants to avoid teasing and judgement from others. he’s a real people pleaser at the end of the day, he literally spent three years of his life looking for someone the world thought just disappeared permanently because he wanted his dad’s validation.

Touch starved/ hurt reader - hcs or scenarios the turtles? Reader super cool regarding friendship, like funny and open etc etc, but if someone tries to do anything that implies a bit more regarding romantic stuff they are kinda like oop- no. King of the Khyber Rifles (1916)

Who wants to hear about the absolutely unhinged WWI-era adventure novel I binge-read recently? Great! This bizarre and fantastic spy story reads either like an H. Rider Haggard novel or a sort of James Bond avant la lettre, depending on your point of view. I am perhaps its ideal audience. I say this because 1) I had my literary tastes shaped by reading a lot of Kipling, Conan Doyle, and even H. Rider Haggard in my adolescent years (honorable mention to Anthony Hope Hopkins and the Baroness d’Orczy) and 2) not entirely unrelatedly, I grew up, went to grad school, and did a lot of reading about power, gender, and race in the British Empire. This book is a penny dreadful adventure/romance that obviously needs to be adapted into a miniseries if and only if the production team has read Homi Bhabha on ambivalence and is ready to get subversive. That said... get ready for a tale of heroism! romance! and very large explosions!

Our eponymous hero is Captain Athelstan King, officer in the Khyber Rifles. Despite having the most English name possible, he has lived in India all his life, like generations of his forebears. And it is precisely because of this background, and this cultural fluency and sympathy, that he is picked for a Dangerous Top-Secret Mission. (India is described as having “pickled his heritage” by English officers who also think he is weird because he sits around reading books.) In response to the general giving him his orders:

King grunted with the lids half-lowered over full dark eyes. He did not look especially handsome in that attitude. Some men swear he looks like a Roman, and others liken him to a gargoyle, all of them choosing to ignore the smile that can transform his whole face instantly.

Gargoyle-hot! culturally-hybrid! This is the kind of hero I signed up for. 

Since WWI is happening, Britain wants to guard the Northwestern Frontier; Punjabi troops are racing westward to France and there needs to be a Raj for them to come back to. Do I want to be on the production team for a miniseries that introduces the independence movement into all this? yes. King’s mission is to quell or prevent the rebellion and/or invasion that threatens from what is now Afghanistan. And to do this, he must work with Yasmini, the biracial widow of a rajah, now a dangerously knowledgeable, infamously capable spy. King is given her photograph:

King took the package and for a minute stared hard at the likeness of a woman whose fame has traveled up and down India, until her witchery has become a proverb. [...] The general watched his face with eyes that missed nothing.

“Remember--I said work with her!”

It was at this point that I texted my sister and said that I would riot if this did not lead to torrid romance. In beginning his mission, King proceeds to:

stuff his face with curry to avoid awkward questions (relatable)

be subtly insulting to English officers

use Hindi honorifics for local railway clerks

get an assassin arrested

avoid getting stabbed by a second assassin

keep Assassin #2′s knife, the handle of which is molded in the shape of Yasmini’s body

(yes really)

Having arrived in Delhi, he proceeds to form a very flirtatiously charged alliance with a young Rajput warrior, whose elegant wrists and figure are dwelt on at such length that I promptly concluded that either 1) this novel was, whether intentionally or not, much queerer than supposed or 2) the Rajput was Yasmini cross-dressing. The author is too coy to give us explicit textual confirmation of the latter. But the Rajput’s eyes are described as “hot pools of mystery,” a twin challenge to the seductive dancing girls with which “he” surrounds King. Ahem.

Our hero then forms a partnership with Ismail, the Afridi warrior who is assigned to him by Yasmini as a guide and guardian, and proceeds to break 30 tribesmen out of a British prison, which he can do because 1) Yasmini (still cross-dressing) has given him a talisman 2) he speaks Pashto and Hindi, and the jailer doesn’t.

Accompanied by his lively and now at least conditionally devoted retinue, King ascends into the Hindu Kush, but not before contemplating it in “wan, weird moonlight.” He arranges a meeting with his younger brother, which gives rise to the following delightful dialogue:

“Glad to see you, old man,” said Athelstan.

“Sure, old chap!” said Charles; and they shook hands.

“What's the desperate proposal?” asked the younger.

“I'll tell you when we are alone.”

He then disguises himself as a Rajasthani doctor, discovers a secret passage, and proceeds to penetrate the stronghold of Yasmini, which is a cave (subtle.) He still wears the knife next to his skin. But he is playing a dangerous game between the faction of those who openly hate him, and that of her men, and which way she will throw herself in the political balance is uncertain. He narrowly escapes death at the hands of angry warriors by displaying his brother’s severed head to them, and then narrowly escapes death crawling over a mountainside in the dark. He is told that unless he flees for his life, he will cease to be himself. He then meets Yasmini in her own person (“Touch and scent and confidence, all three were bewitching; all three were calculated, too.”) The romance, it is TORRID. And it takes less than half a page to get from “the delirium of human passion loosed and given” (HELLO) to “You think because I love you, you can feed my love on a plate to the Indian government?” I enjoy adventure novels precisely for this reason.

Yasmini writes a letter to King’s superior officers informing them that he is a traitor (obviously wrong, also bad.) King is then captured by the large, brutal, and cynical warlord who is leading a campaign down into India (arguably worse.) He is still successfully passing himself off as a doctor (having done all that reading-up on medicine and surgery in the early chapters. Love a bit of narrative payoff.) At the warlord’s direction, he writes a letter to Yasmini... but he writes in Urdu, a language the other man does not read; he praises her beauty and her wisdom, begs for her loyalty, and pledges her his devotion (swoon.)

Then Yasmini -- still dressed as the Rajput warrior -- shows up and tries to kill him. They proceed to have a very sexually-charged fight, after which King gloomily concludes that Yasmini must be this “other man’s” lover. (Is our hero really that oblivious at this point? Apparently!) Fortunately, Ismail shows up helps set in motion King’s Cunning Plan™ of winning over the hostile army by which he is surrounded. It helps that he’s been tending their wounds and curing their ailments for the past few days. With this secret secondary mission, he marches back to the mountain stronghold in the power of the enemy warlord. Said warlord proceeds to march into the stronghold... and Yasmini blows the whole thing up using her stockpiled dynamite. It is at this point that King figures out who the slender warrior who tried to kill him is.

Reeling with exhaustion and a sense of anti-climax, King and the disguised Yasmini and a miniature army of men with their households behind them tramp down from the hills. King’s friend Courtenay, at his request, allows him to take a bath, but is so stand-offish in his manner that King asks why, only to be informed that he’s been put under arrest for treason. This is only resolved after the following astonishing sequence:

And then the general came and did not wait for King to get dressed but burst into the bathroom and shook hands with him while he was still naked and asked ten questions (like a gatling gun) while King was getting on his trousers, divining each answer after the third word and waving the rest aside.

I just... I just like this weird book. King tells his tale to the general, breaks the cross-dressing woman who loves him out of jail, and eats bread and cocoa while debriefing. And that’s the end! except that the readers who have hung on through all of this are promised that “the chances for intrigue are almost infinite, given such combination as King and Yasmini and a love affair.”

Hello! I’m not sure if you’re sick of random TBH questions, but in case you aren’t here’s one that came up for me just now. In episode 10, Sterling describes her sexuality as "undefined" and then in the very next sentence using the colors of the bi-sexual pride flag. What the hell is up with that? Does she know in her heart how she identifies but isn't ready to attach a word to it? Or maybe she's still so new to the entire concept and she saw those colors in a Google search and they stuck in her mind, not realizing what they mean? What ever it is, I think its COMPLETELY legit to describe your sexuality in what ever terms makes the most sense to you, ESPECIALLY for Sterling Wesley considering how new this all is for her, but I just thought that juxtaposition was kinda interesting. What do you make of it?

Secondly, Sterling is right at the start of figuring out her sexuality! She is sixteen and very excitable and figured out she liked a girl and then went for in like two seconds - her words might need a little bit of time to catch up to her heart (and like, libido tbqh). I myself started out as an ftm guy, a lot of questioning, I went to genderfluid, non binary, and now I personally say i’m a non binary boy. and over the course of that time my pronouns have ranged. like he/him, depends on the day, they/them, he/they. things are bound to change, don’t feel like you need an answer now. I know it seems like you must have a label, but what’s more important is that you’re happy in your own body and you’re expressing yourself in a way that’s true to you.

- Glad to see no one died between book one and two, everyone is back and sexier than before of course except for Regal who was already the sexiest bitch in Buck keep

- just kidding y’all know that is Burrich

- I love how Robin Hobb decided we had to know that Burrich Fucks, I appreciate that of her

-Fitz is, as always, a complete dumbass. I’m starting to think that this is not just a temporary situation anymore

-Kettricken is really incredible, I may need to jump on the Kettricken simp train (although I’m more of a Patience lady myself I gotta say)

- This isn’t really an update but I keep thinking abiut how Galend used to say “you shall not have any contact with the opposite sex” like he wasn’t the only straight person in BuckKeep (well the only cishet at least except maybe for Shrewd)

Allow me to elaborate: Fitz and Molly? Bi. Hands? Gay. Burrich? Bi and not over his breakup with Chivalry. Patience? Bi and dating Lacey (lesbian). Verity and Kettricken are both trans, there is no way you can convince me otherwise. August is gay and repressed, which is different from Regal who is gay and homophobic. The fool is gender queer. Chivalry was pan. Chade is gay. The two girl classmates of Fitz one who became leader of the skilled kidz and the other who dropped out are dating, they broke up bc Galend’s psychological abuse had messed them up terribly but now they’re back together. (Update now I know more names, selene and justin both raging homos, truly evil stupid wlw/mlm solidariety). Will is gay too.

- OH I DESPERATELY WANT TO SEE BURRICH AND THE FOOL INTERACT I THINK THEY’D GET GET ALONG;; Burrich is friends with most of the young folk in Buckkeep, he’s a mentor to all of them and idk how old the fool is but I know they didn’t have that and they’re lonely as shit. They’re both done with every single person in BuckKeep and they both have at least one braincell, which is apparently extremely rare around here

-I love Fitz’s constant theme of “no one in BuckKeep knew. I was so furtive and secretive. No one could ever guess what I was doing” when he’s visiting either Night Eyes or Molly because I know all the folk in BuckKeep are like “ah shit there he goes again going to see that fucking wolf”

- MOLLY AND FITZ ARE SERIOUSLY SO DRAMATIC HDHENDJDJHFHDHC they gave me my fav scene ever though, where Molly and Fitz are doing their Dramatic Breakup Speech outside of Burrich’s room, while the Fool and Burrich are inside listening w a glass on the door like “shit- shit he’s coming in get away get away- Hello Fitz!”

- drunk fool was chaotic energy at its finest

- Patience and Kettricken keep being the absolute best I swear if Verity doesn’t come back I am marrying his wife myself

- on that note VERITY SIR I THOUGHT AT LEAST YOU HAD THE BRAINCELL,,, OH YES I’LL GO ALONE ON A MYTHICAL QUEST TO LOOK FOR FAIRIES SURELY MY EVIL BROTHER WON’T TRY ANYTHING WHILE I’M GONE ❤️

- ok everyone by now knows that I’m both a huge patience and burrich simp, but I will not believe for a second that they were in love, sorry Patience is in a happy relationship w Lacey and Burrich was always in love with Chivalry, I will not accept any other version of the story ❤️

- and now onto the sad part

- OKAY look I will tolerate any shit a character does, literally they could kill Fitz and I wouldn’t bat an eye but when Regal had the AUDACITY to order his men to hurt the Fool,,,, that was the irredeemable point of no return for me, Fuck regal all my homies hate regal

- I am growing extremely fond of the fool they’re the sweetest character so far I am honestly in love, also they’re smart thank god we needed someone with braincells near Fitz because that boy is a complete dumbass

- also the “Who did this to you.” scene after the fool got beaten up the first time,,,, I sense multishipping times nearing on the horizon

- when I tell you I cried my eyes out during Shrewd’s death,,,,,,,, not bc I care about the guy, pretty annoying as he was, but seeing the fool crying is not something I will ever recover from thanks

- everyone keeps saying that night eyes has the braincell out of him and Fitz but honestly!! That’s not true!! The wolf is a dumbass as well, it’s just that anyone put against Fitz would seem like a genius!!

- Fitz not realizing that Molly’s “the one I care most about” and Burrich’s “female friend who needs a hand” might,,, be related,,,,,,,,, lol

- idk if it’s actually like that but imagine how devastating it would be for Fitz to have his girlfriend stolen by his fucking DAD

- the way Fitz talks about Molly tho 💕💕

- The foreshadowing of Kettricken’s child actually being still born,,,,,,,,,,, I pretend I do not see

- The “let him go night eyes, he’s not yours” scene gave me chills tbh

- I’m manifesting some flashbacks of younger Chivalry, Verity, Patience and Burrich,,, I wanna see the dynamics,,,, don’t think I won’t write it myself if there aren’t any

- so yeah I have already started book three because I have no self control, every time Fitz skills out to Molly he gets a different picture of Burrich doing house work, if Fitz keeps this up he’ll be able to bless us all with the Hot Burrich Calendar we all deserve

Ending notes! I thought I would skip the liveship traders trilogy but everyone told me that it’s not a good idea so I’ll read everything in order :)

An unpopular opinion: while i think david’s behavior toward kugrash is 100% warranted (and that it’s not fair for kug to continually call him a ballbuster for his justified anger), I think how he treats wally is pretty inexcusable. like continually talking down to your little brother and dismissing him like yikes dude especially

Sexuality Headcanon: (bass-boosted) Lesbian. Gender Headcanon: She’s a girl but also not really but also yes. She’s like a genderless girl which maybe doesn’t make sense but it does to her! Gender is void left girl A ship I have with said character: AllySol :-) Ally’s love literally fueled her existence and if that is not gay idk what is A BROTP I have with said character: UHHM Doppelganger Arle and Strange Klug TBQH. I think they’re all super interesting and would probably have a lot to say about like, personhood, but Rafisol is the only one out of this trio that isn’t depressed she’s just alexithymic. So sometimes she doesn’t understand why Doppel and Aya have so much like...angsty baggage she’s just like...well I am an evil existence who clearly, shouldn’t feel things and shouldn’t be able to give love, all I was “created” to do was take, if I was created. Not like she takes things at face value but I think she doesn’t have much motivation of her existence outside of its intended context, while Doppel and Aya both...existed before as “whole” people? Rafisol conversely has never really been a “whole” person and understands she wasn’t “designed” to be a “whole person” so she doesn’t see the point in longing for something that’s outside of her perceived existence? Most of her #angst comes from not really knowing if she can give love because it hasn’t ever been shown to her, at least not until Ally came into her life. A NOTP I have with said character: No Men all my homies hate men In all seriousness I don’t really have one I just don’t see her with anyone but Ally A random headcanon: After the events of Chronicle Rafisol uses her powers to dimension hop with Ally and they travel to a lot of different places! She also starts dressing differently to differentiate herself from Ally since she starts to understand her own identity a bit better, imo she cuts her hair so she loses the characteristic curls but she likes short hair General Opinion over said character: WASTED POTENTIAL. OF COURSE, this is a given for most characters... that I really like, so... yeah. I mean I talked about it earlier but I think she didn’t feel as threatening as the game made her seem, so if she had more of an influence on the plot it would’ve been  interesting.

Aya/Strange Klug

Sexuality Headcanon: she’s bi but i don’t really think about her sexuality too much honestly Gender Headcanon: Girl but like if it was evil (she/her or they/them pronouns) A ship I have with said character: AyaSig and AyaKlug... A BROTP I have with said character: AyaSchezo is really funny and one ship I have in an AU? uhh also Aya and Rafisol like I said in the last part, and AyaAmi is really cute I think they could be friends esp. because Amitie reminds her so much of her old friend from before her sealing ;___;!!!!!!! OH and Aya and Feli because one of my friends said Aya acting like a guiding figure to Feli, in like, understanding that fate isn’t always absolute... good shit A NOTP I have with said character: Idk if I have any uh I’ve seen AyaRaffi before which I don’t really like I think they’d be friends more than any. A random headcanon: She/The Record of Sealing used to be in the possession of Lemres’s family but when he was like, old enough to start doing things without his family hovering over his shoulder he donated the book to the Primp Town library in hopes that Akuma would be able to help her, or that she’d be able to find a way to like...accept being how she is now? So they’re actually friends/have history together but Lemres doesn’t really tell anyone this. General Opinion over said character: I miss her :( I think people reduce her character alot when her backstory is really tragic and her conflict is like, frankly a good philosophical question about if you split a “person”/soul in half are the halves still one person or are they their own thing? So? She’s kind of...fascinating to me in that regard
