Dungeon Meshi Quick Reacts: CH38
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rip to these promising mages. I assume they will not survive this massacre.
Tumblr media
IS that where her lungs and kidneys are? Because like. She's huge. Her entire body is behind her. Do you really think she'd keep her vital organs in the little human bulb on the front?
Tumblr media
I mean, he has a point. What are you going to do? Fight off more hoardes of dragons?
Tumblr media
oh noooo, Kabru.... too bad. That's so unfortunate.... anyway.
It's curious that Laios only got knocked away. He was just as likely to have had his head squished like a grape.
Tumblr media
Guys, this is absolutely not the time to be concerned for her privacy.
Tumblr media
Yes, queen. Free the tiddy. Murder everyone in this dungeon. I support women's rights and women's wrongs.
Tumblr media
.......that's. One way to do that. I guess.
.......what's that rock about.
Tumblr media
Oh, I see. That's convenient.
Tumblr media
This guy dungeons! Maybe he even dragons.
Tumblr media
So we got north (tallmen? dwarves?) and then the easterners.... and now the elves of the west?
He's going to give her to the Americans?! ಠ_ಠ
Tumblr media
To be fair, at least they HAD a plan. And they executed it. It's more than you did. I don't mean to point fingers but... at least they... ya know... did something.
Tumblr media
Kabru's like 'no, no, hang on, I need to hear what batshit fucked up thing this dude is going to say next, this is important'
Tumblr media
Laios is so stressed he broke character.
Then again, maybe it's healthy to let them slug it out a bit. Get it out of their system.
Tumblr media
It's true. They wore fitbits and everything.
Tumblr media
...hey, hold on a second.
Tumblr media
Now hold on a minute.
Damn, this is. Kind of even worse because. I guess I could have guessed that Toshi was just pretending to be polite, like you do. Cultural differences.
But the painful thing is, Laios doesn't seem surprised. He just seems resigned. He's been told before that he's difficult to get along with. To the extent that he doesn't even consider Marcille and Chillchuck his friends? Even though they arguably both care about him? But because Toshiro didn't bother to be deadpan about him being a bit odd at times, Laios thought it meant that was fine.
And that kinda hurts. Like damn. Laios just wanted to make a true connection. And I can't really blame Toshiro either, he was just trying to keep the peace but. Damn.
Tumblr media
Free her! Let her do her illegal magics! She deserves it! (︶^︶)
Tumblr media
Thoughts:
Senshi just being annoyed about that one last harpy looking for scraps.... like "shoo, this ain't the time"
That gnome seems genuinely nice. I'm sorry Falin squished his pet undyne.
Kabru hugging his..... mage? Girlfriend???? Seems very...one sided. Kinda feel bad for her.
Laios and Toshiro still going at it, I see. Get it allout, boys.
Uhhhhhhhhhh ninja girls.
Aww, doggo.
Last question: Where did the cat go?
Tumblr media
Senshi: I can fix that.
Tumblr media
Are you all worried because he's finally making sense?!?!
Laios and he punched their singular braincells into several new ones, it seems.
Tumblr media
F./....Falin... please give the caterpillar some privacy........
Tumblr media
My man, maybe lead with that............
I can't believe Marcille was potentially more forward about her feelings.......
Tumblr media
"his pupils are dilated" yes, thank you sherlock. You've finally realized what everyone else who meets Laios feels almost immediately. he's a monster freak club card carrying member. Welcome.
Tumblr media
p.....pubby......
Tumblr media
As long as he was also inside the dungeon with them.... yes.
Tumblr media
The issue with Kabru isn't that he isn't trying his best. It's that Laios isn't trying at all.
Tumblr media
On a scale of one to Kabru, how badly do you react to being offered a food you don't want to eat?
Tumblr media
......oh no. He's so pathetic it's funny. He's growing on me.
Tumblr media
Absolute morons, the pair of them. Immovable object meets unstoppable force. The funniest combination ever. Ghost type and normal type pokemon, forever throwing moves at each other that will never hit. Laios thinking he's made a friend. Kabru just barely stopping himself from killing Laios. Best comedy pair. Tom and Jerry in a can.
Anyway. What a great manga.

Small Child's Thoughts on "The Shadow of the Past" Part 1
Why are they calling Bilbo “mad?” That doesn’t seem like a very nice thing to call someone.
It doesn’t snow food! That’s absurd!
Oh, I like to wander by myself too. Maybe Frodo and I could be friends and walk around just being only quiet.
50 is pretty old, but it’s not too, too old.
Hmmm… I like the well-trodden paths mostly. You sometimes go off the trails Mom, and then you get poison ivy. I bet Frodo gets it too.
Are they the dwarves from the Hobbit, Mom?! No? Oh. Okay.
Hey, can you remind me what “ominous” means? Ohhhhh dear. Yes, all of that sounds terribly ominous.
Laughing at people isn’t kind.
Trees don’t walk! They don’t have legs!
How many points did Ted score? Did he get 6 like a touchdown? Or only 1 like the point after touchdown?
People don’t crack. Oh, they meant crazy? Sometimes I am crazy too.
I would be sad if my friend did not come to visit for 9 years. That is a long time. It is longer than I have ever been alive. That is more birthdays than I have yet.
Oh, I knew it! I knew that Ring was bad.
It’s a good thing Frodo hasn’t faded. It would be sad if Gandalf couldn’t see him.
Um, your ring doesn’t get bigger or smaller. And I think that is good because Dad gave you that ring because he likes you a lot and you would be sad if you lost it.
I haven’t heard of Saruman either. But then I hadn’t heard of Bilbo or Frodo either so I guess that doesn’t mean much.
I need to know what “allay” means. That’s a nice sounding word. Allay. Allay, allay!
Hey! Gandalf shouldn’t call them stupid. That is rude, rude word!
Can the hobbits fight the bad guys? I think they should just hit the bad guys with swords so they won’t have to be slaves.
Um, I don’t think the Dark Lord can find the rings in the dark. Unless maybe he has a flashlight.
What are Ringwraiths? Are they going to be bad guys?
What does “vanquished” mean? Ohhhh like Jesus vanquished death and the grave for us? Okay, that is cool. But it seems like it didn’t work that well for the elves and men since Sauron came back. I think it's unlikely we will get any reading done tomorrow. Wednesday are absolutely insane for us. Honestly we rarely even finish our homeschool day on Wednesdays because there is simply Too Much. So, we will be back on Thursday!

Author notes: hi this is my first time writing for the hobbit hopefully someone will like it ❤️ please be kind in the comments and don’t be afraid to message me any questions ❤️
When I opened my eyes I saw a beautiful blue sky and the sun shining bright there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. I sat up suddenly there was a pain in my stomach I winced and hissed. I lifted my shirt to look for any injury and didn’t find any. Then I realized the pain went away, I blinked a few times and thought back about my day and how I got here. The day went on as usual woke up spent some time to myself, which includes coffee and some gaming. Got ready for work, shower, brushed teeth, a pair of jeans and a button down shirt, a pair of shoes which were dirty from working in them. I drove to work, clocked in, put my Home Depot apron on, got stabbed by some crazed customer, clocked out, drove home…wait what? Let me back up a bit. I got stabbed by some crazed customer?? I lifted my shirt up again but didn’t see a stab mark. I huffed and got up. “Did I die? Is this heaven?” I chuckled. “Well I didn’t think I’d end up in heaven.” I looked around but didn’t see a person or angel in sight. I looked for any sign of life and saw smoke a few miles away. “I guess I’ll start there.” I walked towards where the smoke was residing. I walked into a small village. I mean literally small because the people were small and everything in the village was small. The people reminded me of hobbits with their pointy ears and big hairy feet. I walked to what looked like a market place. I thought I saw Bilbo baggins from the hobbit at one point but decided to kept walking. Til I recognized a familiar gray pointy hat. I sped up my pace and grabbed the persons sleeve. “Excuse me.” Once the man turned around I immediately recognized the man. “Yes my lady?” I felt my eyes go wide from shock. “Um I-I…” my words died from my mouth as I looked at his face longer. Gandalf raised his brow, “are you alright my dear?” I blinked realizing I’ve been staring at him. “You’re Gandalf the grey, right?” He looked at me up and down, staring at me questioning. “Indeed I am, and you are?” I realized I was making a fool out of myself I shook my head and cleared my throat. “Mr. Gandalf my name is Y/N and i know I’m going to sound crazy but I believe I ended up in either The Hobbit or Lord Of The Rings. Please believe me when I say that I’m not trying to do any harm to you or Bilbo or Frodo or Thorin.” He stared at me hard then he started to smile. “Well my dear why don’t we walk and talk.” I nodded and began to walk beside him. “So let’s start from the beginning.” I swallowed and started my tale of the hobbit careful enough to not give anything important away. “Hm. Well I do believe you my lady for I just talked to Bilbo not too long ago.” I smiled. “Thank goodness. Please let me join you and the company to take back the lonely mountain, with my knowledge I can help.” He thought for a moment and nodded. “Alright. Let’s get you some supplies for the journey ahead.” We hit the market again getting me a bedroll and some feminine products I’ll need. Then he lead me to a familiar hole in the ground. “This is bilbos place isn’t it?” Gandalf nodded. “I need to do something for a bit wait for me here til I return.” I nodded. “Okay.” He began to walk away. “Oh and Y/N do stay out of trouble.” I chuckled. “You got it.”
Hours went by I ended up on the grass and took a nap. It was hard not to when the sun felt nice on my skin and the grass felt comfortable. I was startled awake by a shake to my shoulder. When I opened my eyes I was met with brown and blue eyes. “Miss why are you sleeping out here?” I blinked and sat up. “Oh sorry I must’ve dozed off waiting for Gandalf.”
“Gandalf? Are you the new member uncle was telling us?” I nodded. “Probably, Gandalf told me to wait here for him, are you heading to Mr. Baggins?” They nodded. “He should be here soon why don’t we head in while we wait?” I bit my lip and nodded. “Okay I’m sure it’ll be fine. I’m Y/N by the way.”
“I’m Fili and this is my brother Kili.” I nodded to Kili noticing him not saying anything. The three of us walked toward Bilbos home. Fili rang the doorbell. And we waited for the hobbit to open the door. Bilbo opened the door. Bilbo whimpered when he saw the three of us. “Fili.” Fili introduced himself “Kili.” Kili finally spoke. “And Y/N.” I introduced myself. The two dwarves bowed their heads. “At your service.” I nodded towards Bilbo. “You must be Mr. Boggins.”
“Nope! You can’t come in. You’ve come to the wrong house.” Bilbo went to close the door but Kili stopped him. “What? Has it been canceled?” The door was pushed back open a bit. “No one told us.” Fili walking close behind his brother. “No, nothings been canceled.” Bilbo said confused about what the dwarves were implying. “That’s a relief.” Kili pushed the door open more and walked in Fili and I followed after. “Sorry Mr. Baggins.”I say give him a sympathetic look. I could tell he was already getting frustrated. “Careful with these. I just had ‘em sharpened.” Fili began to take off his weapons. I walked in looking around the hobbits home. “The movies really didn’t do this place justice.” I muttered under my breath. Kili walking around. “It’s nice, this place. Did you do it yourself?” Kili asked. Without Bilbo paying attention Kili began to take the mud off his shoes on Bilbos mother’s chest. I bit the inside of my cheek wanting to tell him not to do that because it is Bilbos mother’s chest. “What? No, it’s been in the family for years.” Bilbo finally realized what Kili was doing. “That’s my mother’s glory box! Can you please not do that?” Bilbo was angry. Then Dwalin walked in and grabbing Kili’s shoulder leading him farther in the house. “Fili, Kili. Come on. Give us a hand.” All of us walked into what looked like a dining room. “Let’s shove this in the hallway, otherwise we’ll never get everyone in.” Bilbo stammered. “Everyone? How many more are there?” I grabbed Fili’s weapons. “Here I’ll take these Mr. Baggins.”
“Th-thank you. Do you know what’s going on.” I smiled slyly and put Fili’s weapons somewhere out of the way. Suddenly the doorbell rang again. Bilbo feeling very frustrated walked towards the door. “Oh, no. No. No. There’s nobody home! Go away and bother somebody else! There’s far too many dwarves in my dining room as it is. If this is some clot-heads idea of a joke…ha! Ha! I can only say it is in poor taste.” He opened the door I could hear the dwarves falling on the floor in the entrance of the hobbits home. I followed after Bilbo. Seeing the dwarves on the floor I giggled watching them grunt and groan. “Ah. There you are my lady I thought I told you to stay put.” I smiled. “Sorry I ran into Fili and Kili they said you would be here soon and well here you are.” Bilbo looked at Gandalf. “Gandalf.”
Soon everyone was in the dining room they were passing ales and food. Having a grand old time, I ate a bit myself. I grabbed a jug of ale and took a few gulps. I giggled some more seeing poor Bilbo tell the dwarves to put his food back from his pantry. Food was going left and right the dwarves drinking and eating. “Ale! Going one, two, three!” They were all chugging their drinks. A few letting out some burps. I laughed amongst them. Once they all finished eating they began to clean up I joined in obviously. “‘Scuse me but where do I put my plate?” Ori asked Bilbo. Fili walked up grabbing the plate from him. “Here you go, ori. Give it to me.” He tossed it to Kili who caught it without a problem and tossing it to Bifur. They were tossing all the dishes to get cleaned. I heard the dwarves clatter the silverware. “And can—can you not do that? You’ll blunt them.”
“Ooh, do you hear that, lads? He says we’ll blunt the knives.” They began to bang their shoes amongst the floor, making a beat. “ Blunt the knives, bend the forks.” Kili began to sing. “Smash the bottles and burn the corks.” Fili followed. “Chip the glasses and crack the plates.”
“That’s what Bilbo baggins hates!” They all sang together. I danced a bit to their song. “Cut the cloth tread on the fat. Leave the bones on the bedroom mat. Pour the milk on the pantry floor. Smash the wine on every door. Dump the crocks in a boiling bowl. Pound them up with a thumping pole. When you’re finished, if they are whole. Send them down the hall to roll. That’s what Bilbo baggins hates!” They all laughed after the song was finished. Suddenly there was a loud banging on the door everyone quieted down. I looked at Gandalf. “He is here.” Bilbo and Gandalf walked to the door, I followed them. Gandalf opened the door for Thorin. “Gandalf. I thought you said this place would be easy to find. I lost my way. Twice. I wouldn’t have found it at all had it not been for that mark on the door.”
“Mark? There’s no mark on that door. It was painted a week ago.” Gandalf closed the door after Thorin walked in. “There is a mark. I put it there myself. Bilbo Baggins. Y/N. Allow me to introduce the leader of our company: Thorin Oakenshield.” I bowed my head a bit to be polite. “So..this is the hobbit and Gandalfs assistant. Tell me, Mr. Baggins, have you done much fighting?” Thorin circled Bilbo. “Pardon me?”
“Axe or sword? What’s your weapon of choice?”
“Well, I do have some skill at conkers, if you must know.” I crinkled a bit. “But I fail to see why that’s relevant.”
“I thought as much. He looks more like a grocer than a burglar.” The dwarves laughed at Thorins comment. I felt a little sympathy for Bilbo. The dwarves all walked to the dining room it was just Bilbo, Gandalf, and I. “Your assistant aye.” I crossed my arms under my chest. Gandalf smiled. “Well I couldn’t just tell them you’re from another world now could I.” I nodded. “Alright, I guess it could work for now.”
I sat next to Fili and Kili at the dining table. “What need from the meeting in Ered Luin?” Balin asked Thorin. “Did they all come?”
“Aye. Envoys from all seven kingdoms.”
“And what did the dwarves of the iron hills say? Is Dain with us?” Dwalin asked. “They will not come.” Thorin answered.
“They say this quest is ours and ours alone.”
“You’re going on a quest?” Bilbo asked standing behind Gandalf. “Y/N, help my dear fellow Bilbo, let us have a little more light.” I nodded helping Bilbo bring some candles out. “Far to the east…over ranges and rivers… beyond woodlands and wastelands… lies a single, solitary peak.”
“The lonely mountain.”
“Aye, Oin has read the portents, and the portents say it is time!” Glóin said. “Ravens have been seen flying back to the mountain, as it was foretold. When the birds of yore return to erebor, the reign of the beast will end.”
“What beast?” Bilbo asked curiously. “That would be a reference to Smaug the terrible. Chiefest and greatest calamity of our age. Airborne fire breather. Teeth like razors. Claws like meat hooks. Extremely fond of precious metals.” Bofur described Smaug. “Yes, I know what a dragon is.” Suddenly Oir stood up. “I’m not afraid. I’m up for it. I’ll give him a taste of dwarvish iron right up his jacksie!”
“Good lad, Ori!” Nori cheered on the dwarf. “Sit down.” Dori told him. “The task would be difficult enough with an army behind us..but we number in just 16. And not 16 of the best…nor brightest.” That gave a bit of commotion. “We may be few in number… but we’re fighters. All of us! To the last dwarf.” Fili cheered on. “And you forget, we have a wizard in our company along with his assistant. Gandalf will have killed hundreds of dragons in his time.” I bit back a laugh. “Oh, well, no. I-I-I wouldn’t say—,”
“How many, then?” Dori asked. “What?”
“How many dragons have you killed?” All the dwarves looked at Gandalf as he choked on his smoke. “Go on. Give us a number.” I watched as they fought amongst themselves. I pushed myself against the wall. “Uh, excuse me. Please.” Bilbo tried to talk to the dwarves when Thorin spoke up. “No more!” They all went silent. “If we have read these signs, do you not think others will have read them too? Rumors have begun to spread. The dragon Smaug has not been seen for 60 years. Eyes look west to the mountain, assessing, wondering, weighing the risk. Perhaps the vast of our wealth of our people now lies unprotected. Do we sit back while others claim what is rightfully ours? Or do we seize this chance to take back erebor?!” They all cheer til Balin cuts in. “You forget: the front gate is sealed. There is no way into the mountain.”
“That, my dear Balin, is not entirely true.” Gandalf brought out a key showing it to the dwarves. “How came you by this?” Thorin asked. “It was given to me by your father. By Thrain. For safekeeping. It is yours now.” Gandalf handed Thorin the key. “If there is a key…there must be a door.” Fili thought out loud. Gandalf showed them the writing on the map. “These runes speak of a hidden passage to the lower halls.”
“There’s another way in.” Kili spoke happily. “Well, if we can find it, but dwarf doors are invisible when closed. The answer lies hidden somewhere in this map, and I do not have the skill to find it. But there are others in middle earth who can. The task I have in mind will require a great deal of stealth and no small amount of courage. But if we are careful and clever, I believer that it can be done.”
“That’s why we need a burglar.” Ori concluded. “Hmm. And a good one too.” All eyes were on Bilbo. “An expert, I’d imagine.”
“And are you?” Glóin asked. Bilbo looked around realizing that he asked him. “Am I what?”
“He said he’s an expert! Hey!”
“Me? No. No, no. I’m not a burglar. I’ve never stolen a thing in my life.”
“Well, I’m afraid I have to agree with Mr. Baggins. He’s hardly burglar material.” Balin replied.
“Aye, the wild is no place for gentle folk who can neither fight nor fend for themselves.” Dwalin looked at bilbo and I. I felt a little offended. “C’mon Dwalin they’ll manage just fine.” Bilbo agreed what the dwarf said while I bit my tongue holding back insults. The dwarves talked amongst themselves. Then Gandalf made the house grow dark. Gandalf stood as tall as he could in the small hobbits house and in a loud and scary voice, “Enough! If I say Bilbo baggins is a burglar, then a burglar he is. And you will talk to my assistant with more respect. Hobbits are remarkably light on their feet. In fact, they can pass unseen by most, if they choose. And while the dragon is accustomed to the smell of dwarf, the scent of a hobbit is all but unknown to him. My assistant here also has some insight about our quest which will be useful in taking back the lonely mountain. Smaug will not see us coming. You asked me to find the 14th member of this company, and I have found 2. There’s a lot more to them than appearances suggest. And they both got a great deal more to offer than any of you know. Including themselves.” I could tell he was mainly talking to Bilbo. “You must trust me on this.” Gandalf finished. Thorin seemed to take Gandalfs words seriously. “Very well. We will do it your way.” Bilbo doesn’t seem convinced though. “No.no.”
“Give them the contract.” Thorin looked at Balin. Balin took out a folded paper and handed it to Bilbo. “It’s just the usual. Summary of out of pocket expenses…time required, remuneration…funeral arrangements, so forth.” Bilbo seemed stunned by the words ‘funeral arrangements.’
“Funeral arrangements?” I placed my hand on bilbos shoulder, “it’ll be alright.” He opened the folded contract. Bilbo walked off to read the contract. Thorin leaned close to Gandalf talking about something important no doubt. “Terms: cash on delivery, up to but not exceeding 1/14th of total profit, if any. Seems fair. Present company shall not be liable for any injuries inflicted by or sustained as a consequence thereof, including, but not limited to lacerations…evisceration…incineration?” I giggled a bit at bilbos reaction. “Oh, aye. He’ll melt the flesh off your bones in the blink of an eye.” Bilbo seemed to pause at that. All the dwarves took notice, “are you all right, laddie?” Balin asked the small hobbit. Bilbo put his hands on his knees,” yeah.” Bilbo seemed to try to process this, taking a few deep breaths. “Feel a bit faint.” I felt a bit sympathetic for poor Bilbo besides knowing he’ll be alright. “Bilbo?” I asked concerned for the hobbit, but it seems another dwarf had other intentions. “Think furnace with wings.” Bofur got up from his seat. I looked at the dwarf with eyes to plead to him to stop. “Air. I-I-I need air.” Bilbo looked like he was going to get sick. “Flash of light, searing pain, then poof! You’re nothing more than a pile of ash.” I bit my lip watching the scene play out. Bilbo tried his best to keep calm and to not faint, but he failed. “Nope.” And he went down. I closed my eyes and sighed, “now you’ve done it. Good going Bofur.” I put my hands on my hips. “Oh, very helpful, Bofur.” Gandalf sarcastically said. I grabbed the contract picked up a quill and signed my name, handing it to Balin. “There you go.” Balin looked at the signature. “Welcome to the company, my lady.” I bowed my head and he did the same. The company helped poor Bilbo up and onto his comfy armchair. He was well awake and holding a cup of tea. “I’ll be all right. Just let me sit quietly for a moment.” Gandalf smoking his pipe seemed to get angry at the small hobbit. “You’ve been sitting quietly for far too long. Tell me, when did doilies and your mother’s dishes become so important to you?” Remembering this moment I decided to leave Gandalf and Bilbo to their conversation joining the dwarves in the other room. Fili and Kili walked up to me,” is Mr. Boggins all right?” I nodded. “Yes but he and Gandalf are having a serious conversation so I’d wait if you want to talk to him.” Kili nodded. “Do you think he’ll come?”
“No way brother, Mr. Boggins is way too comfortable here.” Fili responded. “I think he’ll come.” I smiled a little. “Why did you not faint, don’t dragons scare you?” Kili asked, I chuckled a bit, “of course they do but I also think dragons are cool. Seeing one up close sure would be a story to tell one day, that’s if I make it.” I know the story of them but what of me technically I died who knows what’ll happen to me here. “Cool? Dragons are not cool, remember what Bofur said. Furnace with wings.” Fili reminded me, I laughed. “Yes, yes. I remember I just meant they’re majestic, and also terrifying.” I have to remind myself that ‘cool’ isn’t a normal slang term in this world. In that moment Bilbo was walking past us going to what I believe is his bedroom. Kili and Fili suddenly left me to join the other dwarves in the living room. I began to hear humming and singing from the living room, remembering Thorin singing the misty mountain. I sat outside of the room listening to the beautiful sound but also hearing the mournful sound in Thorins voice. I vowed to myself I’ll make sure the durin line will survive once we arrived at the lonely mountain. Leaving my place in the hobbits home I walked outside took a place near the entrance of the hobbits home and fell asleep.

When the dragons fly
Tumblr media
You visit a city and see something interesting. Aelon is haunted by the strange music that seems to tempt him to go to the forest.
Chapter 6
Warnings:  Mentions of scars. Helena is a weird friend. Nightmares, hypnotic music, lying.
----------------------------
You jumped off the wagon, carefully landing on your feet and helping Helena get the boxes down. The city was filled with noises of people, horses, and caravans crossing the streets.  The cold wind from the mountains brushed against your face as you carried one of the boxes with the help of Helena. Helena opens the door to the shop and allows you to walk in first before following behind.
A little bell rang above the door as you walked in with Helena. “Finally! I have been waiting for a new batch to fill my shelves,” The shop owner greeted you with a heartful grin. You and Helena laid the boxes down as he came over and checked the jars and pastries inside.
“Wonderful. I can’t thank you enough, ladies,” he said with a smile before noticing your arm. “Goodness! What happened to you?” he pointed out. “I… had a little incident back at home. It’s nothing to worry about,” you said. “Bullcrap! A little incident? You killed a warg with your bare hands and brushed it off as a little incident like your arm didn’t almost get ripped off?” Helena interfered, wrapping her arm around your shoulder. “If you ever need someone to guard your shop. I suggest you hire this woman because her arm strength is just out of this world,” she patted your shoulder with a grin, making you smile awkwardly.
“It’s nothing, seriously,” you said. “Well–I’m glad to see you alive. I can’t have you dead because who will provide me with the goods then?” The shop owner laughed. “You can bring the rest in. I will start unpacking, and then I will give you the payment,” he starts picking up the boxes as you and Helena walk out of the shop.
“You know, you would make nice money if you become a huntress or a ranger,” Helena stated as you stepped outside. “Perhaps, but I’m happy making jams and treats than getting myself into action again. I want to leave those days behind,” you said. “I mean— look where it brought my arm into,” you motioned at your resting arm. Helena smiled.
“And here I thought Ennard was the reason–- you refused to work as a hunter or became part of the watchmen,” she said. “Well, he believes I’m lying about my past, so I guess that’s the reason too, “ you said, making her snicker.
You both then hear horse neighs and see a group of elves riding by. One of the elves leading on the front was blond and talked with a dark-haired one in a loud voice. The dark-haired elf looked rather annoyed. They were followed by another elf with a rather grim expression on his face, and he was then followed by a very tall elf wearing a cloak. You couldn't see the tall elf’s face, but you could see the red locks that fell from his shoulders and the faint scars on his skin.
"Oh, look at the tall one," Helena said as you both continued observing the elves.
You continued to look out of curiosity. The tall elf suddenly turned his gaze on you like he sensed you were watching him. You were taken back when his soft blue eyes looked right into yours. He held a calm and collected expression, but you could see he bore some kind of a hidden flame behind his eyes. Your skin nearly shuddered with goosebumps – he was someone not to be messed with.
You stared at each other for a moment before he looked away and followed after his companions.
"Oh my, he looks like he has seen better days," Helena said. “I mean– did you see those scars?” she asked. “What’s wrong with scars? It just means he has seen some battles and survived,” you questioned as you continued looking after the elf. Helena hummed before you two then started walking toward the wagon.
"Which group do you think they belong to?" Helena questioned. "Well, the Sindar prefer to stay in their forest, so my guess is they belong to the Noldor since they're more common around these parts," You said while Helena’s brother picked down more boxes from the wagon.
"Which one would you pick?" she asked. "What?" you raised a brow at her. "Which one of those elves do you think is the most handsome?" she grinned at you. “Are you seriously asking me which one of those strangers who simply rode past us is the most good-looking one?” you questioned with a disappointed look.
"Well, it's not every day you see elves walking around, and you're never interested in men, so for the fun of it. Pick one," Helena whined. You relented and thought for a moment.
"I guess the red-haired one. He seemed calm than the others," you said.
“Interesting. I thought the blond elf would gain your interest since he has blond hair like Aelon,” Helena expressed as you picked one of the boxes.
“Nah— the blond elf does remind me of someone, but it's not Aelon,” You said, then looked at her. “Now, come on. Let’s get these boxes out of the way so we can still visit that tavern you like so much,” you said, making her grin and pick one of the boxes. You then focused on carrying the boxes inside the shop and getting paid for the year.
Back in the village, Aelon was holding on to the wooden stick, practicing his hold and the balance of his feet. He controlled his breathing, slowly moving the practice sword in his hand, memorizing every movement you had taught him.
Eweniel approached him as he was training behind your home. “Hey, Aelon. Are you practicing your sword skills?” She asked. “Yep. I wanna get better, so I will practice everything I know until (Name) comes back,” He explained while not breaking focus from his movements. Eweniel stood quiet for a moment as she watched Aelon train.
“Do you feel guilty about what happened in the forest with the giant wolf?” Eweniel asked. Aelon thought about his answer as the question lingered in his mind, and he was reminded of that moment when you wrestled with the warg and got injured.
“Yes…” he muttered under his breath. “If we had just stayed at the village and didn’t break the rules. (Name)’s arm would be fine,” he explained. “I’m sorry, Aelon,” Eweniel looked down in guilt. “Don’t be…it wasn’t your fault,” he looked back at her. “But I pressured you to come along, especially when you were right about meeting a wild animal,” she said. “We couldn’t have known, Ewe,” Aelon said. “It was just a gut feeling, and (Name) doesn’t hold it against you or anyone in our group,” he smiled at her. “Even though her arm got hurt? How is she not mad about it?” she asked. “Well, she always said she had seen worse. I guess nothing just bothers her,” Aelon said with a smile.
“So, that’s why I want to get better, so I can defend myself and be fearless like her,” Aelon continued with the practice sword in his hand.
“Thats nice! By the way, Aelon, aren’t you supposed to be at Dwenn’s workshop?” Eweniel questioned. Aelon widened his eyes. “Oh no! I didn’t know it was already time to go back to him,” he dropped his wooden stick and began to run. “See you later, Ewe!” he yelled while running toward the village.
He quickly ran through the village and arrived at the workshop, where Dwenn was waiting on the porch. “There you are– I thought I would have to come to check if the bedbugs had eaten you,” Dwenn chuckled as he smoked his pipe. “I’m sorry, I was practicing and didn’t know the time,” Aelon explained, catching his breath.
“That’s alright because today we’re gonna practice chopping some wood. So, pick up the hatched over there and follow me. (Name) insisted I help you grow some muscles,” Dwenn laughed, pointing at the tool on the corner, and walked off his porch. Aelon only rolled his eyes at the statement as he went to pick up the hatchet and followed Dwenn to the place where the village kept the chopped wood.
The two arrived at the place, and Aelon picked up a strong smell of wood and planks, strong enough to make his nose squint.
“Alright, let me show you how to use the hatched and a proper technique to chop wood,” Dwenn grabbed the hatched from his hands and picked up a thick wood block. “You do this, find a proper spot, then you strike it!” he gently poked the wood block with the hatchet before striking it with enough force to split it in half. Aelon was surprised as he did not expect the older man to possess such strength. “Wow,” He said.
“Now, you do it, but since you’re small. You shall chop those smaller blocks into pieces. They will be used to heat the fireplaces. I’m going to collect some planks for our latest order,” Dwenn handed him the hatchet. “Call me if you need anything,” he walked away.
Aelon started cutting the wood blocks, struggling to get them in half in one strike. He proceeded to hit the wooden block against the tree stump before finally breaking it in half. He then started cutting the pieces into smaller ones.
The rough activity and the heat from the sun made him sweat, and his arm began to ache. He could only wonder how you managed to work like this.
He groaned after breaking one of the wood blocks in half. He brushed his hair out of his face and took a moment to rest his lungs.
Something echoed in his ears. Aelon stopped and listened. His face paled when he recognized the noise. It was the flute again.
The familiar song began to play in his mind, deafening all the other sounds around him.
Aelon felt anxious as the memory of the forest and the dark figure came back to him. He looked toward the forest that was outside the wood-cutting place. It looked dark, yet something began to pull him toward it.
He walked toward the forest, holding on to the hatchet while the flute's song echoed like it was calling him to the forest.
Aelon stopped at the edge, listening to the song that lured him to get closer. It filled his mind with a desire to go there, but he struggled since he promised you not to go there again. However, the song became louder, and it felt like it was clouding his mind to go there.
Soon, Aelon could not think of anything else but to go there. He wanted, no, needed to follow the music. He was ready to take another step till a hand suddenly grabbed him from behind.
"What are you doing, boy? I have been calling your name for ages!" Dwenn spoke as the flute's song fell quiet once again.
Aelon stared at him, then at the forest, hearing nothing but silence in his mind.
Confusion filled his very being. What happened?
"Sorry, Dwenn," The little boy lowered his head. "Is something wrong, my boy?" Dwenn's gaze softened. "My voice fell completely deaf to your ears," he stated. Aelon felt his heartbeat rise because he did not hear Dwenn call out to him.
"It's probably nothing," Aelon said, hesitant to tell about the song.
"That did not look like nothing to me. Are you feeling unwell? You're sweating more than you should," Dwenn laid the back of his hand against Aelon's forehead. "Come. We should put you to rest. I can't put you to work if you're ill," He gently pushed Aelon toward the village. Aelon did not resist and followed the older man.
He glanced back at the forest, hearing the flute's song still echoing in his ears. He felt shivers run down his spine as he couldn't shake off the feeling of dread from his mind. Something was going on and it was nothing good.

Seeing You Again- Eskel
You can imagine any version of Eskel for this, I think this'll work either way.
The reader lives in Novigrad (which has always struck me as the New York of the Witcher World), and runs into Eskel who doesn't recognize her right away because she look very different from when he last saw her. Read more to find out.
Mentions of prostitution, and sex worker harassment with a side of transphobia (nobody gets hurt though). Enjoy.
It was nighttime in Novigrad. You strolled by the docks, sack of coins in hand from a contract you just completed outside the city. It was a simple job, taking out a couple ekimaras, which was interesting given that vampires usually were solitary and hunted alone. You could've asked for double, but knew it wouldn't be worth the hassle...or harassment for that matter on account that your clients wouldn't believe a woman could take on two ekimaras at the same time.
Even if you were a witcher.
You passed by Crippled Kate's brothel when you saw several drunk men harass a couple of the girls outside. You recognized the girls; one was an elf, the other half-elf, both you considered friends who took you in when you first came to this city and introduced you to their world.
You sigh and shake your head before you approach the angry men, "leave those ladies alone," you warn. "Pfft, these look like ladies to you?" one man slurs, "these is she-elves. Not even she-elves, just elven cocks in frocks. That one there," he points to the half-elf, "tried tricking the poor lad here into thinking it got what he wanted." You breathe in, really containing yourself from slicing these men in half with your sword, "as I said before, leave them alone. Final warning." "What do you care about these freaks?" the other man scoffs before looking you up and down, "unless yous one of them." "I say it is," the first man says in agreement, "nice tits for a lad. You trying to play knight for these freaks? You got a hard on for them?"
You narrow your gaze at these bigoted men and wave your hand, casting the Axii sign on them, "I think you've had way too much to drink," you say in a low tone, "say your sorry, go home, and sleep it off." "Uh, yes, of course," one man says before turning to the elves, "sorry girls, we didn't mean to upset you. Honest mistake, we'll...be going now. Come on, lads."
Once the men left, you turn to half-elf Lana, and elf Anya, "you two okay?" you ask with concern. "We'll be alright now," Anya answers, comforting Lana who had tears in her eyes, "you should've stabbed those brutes through the hearts, maybe slice their heads off while you were at it." "Much as I would've wanted to, we both know who would end up getting in trouble with the soldiers and the Temple Guard," you sigh, "besides what good would it do, more would only take their place." "Three less of them, that's the way I see it," Anya scoffs.
"They didn't hurt you did they?" you ask. "No, not at all," Anya assures, shaking her head, "though Lana here, only thing that's hurt is her heart." "Oh, Lana, what happened?" you ask the half-elf. Lana wiped the tears from her eyes as she answered, "I...I thought he was the one. The young man the others two accused me of 'tricking'. I didn't trick him, he knew who I was." "Let me guess, when his social circle found out, he was too much of a coward to stand up for you," you summarize.  "He was kind to me when we were together," Lana continues, "I...I thought he was different. I thought he was my Prince Charming." "Oh, child," Anya shakes her head in sadness, "I've told you before, there's a reason Prince Charming is only a fairy tale, a tale made up by humans no less." "You can't blame her for wanting to find love," you point out to the elf, "isn't that what we all deserve?" "Maybe so," Anya agrees, "but that doesn't mean the rest of the world sees it that way. *sigh* things haven't been getting harder for people like us, in case you haven't noticed."
"Is that why you were here at Crippled Kate's tonight?" you ask, "I though you and Lana were working as dancers at the Rosemary and Thyme." "And we are," Anya nods, "but times haven been tough, we need to make ends meet. You at least have the privilege of passing as human." "I don't pass completely," you say pointing to your eyes, "You have any idea how many people stare at me when they learn of my occupation? Not every day they run into a she-witcher you know."  "True enough," Anya agrees. "Let me escort you two back home," you offer, "this part of the city isn't exactly the best place to be in this time of night. Don't want to risk getting mugged." "We appreciate the offer," Anya says, helping Lana to her feet, "but we're not going home just yet. I think Lana here could use a drink at the Green Mermaid, help drown her sorrows." "Well, then let me join you," you say, "I got the coin for all three of us, and I could use a drink myself."
The three of you head to the Green Mermaid for a few rounds, paid for with your money. It was one of a few places in Novigrad where people like you, Anya, and Lana could be yourselves and be together with people who were like you; a safe haven for non-humans who lived on the very edge of the margins compared to other non-humans, and one of the first places you were introduced to when you came to the city to start a new life.
You sipped on your ale, savoring the taste, before downing the contents; it has a been a long day, and you felt this was well deserved.
What Anya had said was true; things had been getting worse, for the non-humans especially. Sure the mages recently were having a time getting harassed by the witch hunters, but non-humans were currently taking the brunt of the persecution; many were being evicted from their homes and losing their livelihoods, forced to go to great lengths to make ends meet and survive. For those who were like Anya or Lana, they had to deal with people like the men from earlier; those two were actually lucky nothing else went beyond verbal harassment, knowing that wasn't the case for many others in this city.
The authorities wouldn't do anything, so you had recently taken it upon yourself to step in where you could. While the Axii sign usually was effective, things would get ugly to the point where you would be forced to take out your sword and defend yourself and those you were protecting.
Yet, you still managed to find time to take up monster hunting contracts so as to have an income for yourself and also use to help out the community.
------------the next day---------------
The following morning you went to the nearest flyer to see if there were anymore monster contracts to take up. You saw one and grab the flyer. It was a contract to flush out a nest of drowners that had taken up residence in the sewers near the bathhouse. You were not a big fan of going into the sewers, too many bad smells for your senses and all, but the reward was big enough, clearly someone wanted to get rid of these monsters badly. Oh well, another day, another monster, another sack of coin.
You jump into the sewers, albeit reluctantly, and use your tracking skills to locate the nest. Strangely enough, there were signs that someone else was down here as well; what was even more strange was how familiar the scent was. It was a scent you couldn't quite figure out, but for some reason it started to bring back memories from your previous life...back in Kaer Morhen.
While crawling through the sewers, you hear the familiar sounds of drowners up ahead, along with the sounds of someone with a sword slashing back and forth against the monster. Sword in your own hand, you rush to the scene.
Once you got there you stop in your tracks when spot who was fighting the drowners. It took a moment, but you knew who it was; he had a few scars more then last you saw him, but it was the same witcher from the School of the Wolf.
"Eskel?" you mumble, to yourself more than anything. You were pulled out of your trance when a drowner came after you. You manage to push it away with Aard sign. Eskel look to you in shock as you stabbed the drowner through the heart and sliced another one's head off. He realized you were a witcher, and though you possessed no medallion, he figured you may come from the School of the Cat as that school tended to be more flexible in taking both boys and girls into the witcher trade. Eskel didn't think much about and went back to fighting the drowners on his end.
"You alright?" you hear Eskel ask you once the monsters were killed off. You turn to him, not sure what to say. He didn't seem to recognize you, though you couldn't quite blame him as you looked completely different from the person he knew from before. "About as well as I can," you decide to answer, "so I guess I'm not the only one who decided to take this contract. You expect me to spit the reward with you?" Eskel smiled a little, "actually I was thinking you take the coin while I go and finish off the rest of the drowners in here." "Very funny," you say.
Eskel tilted his head a bit, like he was examining you. You were feeling a little nervous right now; what if he recognized you? What would he do? What would he say?
"Do...you're a witcher like I am," he say, "what school? The Cat?" "Uh, School of the Wolf actually," you tell him. "Huh," Eskel says, "Didn't think the School of the Wolf took in girls. And where's your medallion?" "...maybe they did take in girls, and you just didn't noticed," you point out.
Eskel took a couple more steps closer to you, like he was trying to figure out if he'd seen you somewhere before, "have we met before? I feel like we've seen each other before, I just can't put my finger on it." "We have," you decide to confess, taking a chance with this man, "Eskel...it's me."
Eskel took another look at you, and his eyes widen in realization, "Wha...you...(your old name)?" "Uh, I actually haven't gone by that name in years now," you tell him, "I'm (y/n) now." Eskel took a few steps back, clearly in shock. You couldn't blame him since you never made contact with him or the other wolves in years, as they all were under the impression you had been dead this whole time.
"That's...that's not possible," Eskel shakes his head in disbelief, "you were dead. I was there, I saw you die." "Well, technically you're not wrong," you shrug, "I know I have a lot to explain, but this may not be the best place to talk." "Yeah, you're right," Eskel agrees, standing up, still feeling shaky in the knees, still getting over the shock that you had been alive this whole time.
--------Seven Cats Inn-----------
Once you and Eskel had collected your reward for the drowners, the two of you went to the inn so as to have a chat over a couple well earned ales.
"So, I guess you want to know why I faked my death," you say as Eskel took a sip of beer. "That's an understatement," Eskel makes a humorless laugh, "yes, I want to know why. Why let us think you were dead?"
"I...it's a really complicated story," you admit. "I got time," Eskel deadpans, "does...does it have to do with this?" he gestures to your new look. "It's mostly that," you admit, "deep down I've always known I was different, even before I came to Kaer Morhen. It was actually the reason my father sent me there in the first place. The day before that he had walked in on me trying my mother's clothes. I can't quite explain it, but when I would wear her dresses it...it just felt right. I think my father sending me to the School of the Wolf was his way of trying to 'fix' me. But even though I was surrounded by boys and doing 'boy' things, it just..." you shake your head, struggling to put words together, but Eskel seemed to get the picture.
"Is that why you were shy around the rest of us?" he asks, making you look at him, "it's just something I remember from our time in Kaer Morhen as children," he admits, "I remembered when it came to bath time, to getting undressed, you always shied away from the rest of us." "Yeah, I remember," you say, "I remember how much I hated those times, how much I hated getting naked in front of other people, how much I hated looking in the mirror when I'd get dressed or undressed. It didn't make things any better when we finally went through the trials, when we had those mutagens put into our bodies." "When I finally went on the Path, I ran into some people here in Novigrad," you continue, "they were like me, and they took me in, introduced to me to their world. I finally found a place where I could be myself, be the person I was meant to be. It hasn't been easy, that much I'll admit; I had to save up a lot of coin to get certain procedures done from this mage in the Bits, but I'm happy, and I have no regrets."
"I'm glad you're happy," Eskel says, "but, I still don't understand. Why? Why have the rest of us think you were dead?" "Eskel-" "We mourned you, (y/n), I mourned you," Eskel continues, "you were one of us. Vesemir was devastated when he found out. He left Kaer Morhen and didn't come back for months. He was fond of you, you know."
"I know," you sigh, "I guess I do have one regret. I'm sorry, Eskel. I had a chance at starting a new life, I wasn't sure if you or the other wolves would understand." "You didn't think to ask?" "Well, would you have understand?" you point out. "...maybe not at first," Eskel admits, "but it wouldn't change the fact that you're still a wolf."
"I am," you agree, "I'm still a witcher, that part of me hasn't changed. I have missed you. You, Geralt, Lambert, Coen, Vesemir, and everyone else that's still there." "Then why not come and see them again?" Eskel asks, "I'm sure they would be excited to see you, especially since you're not dead." "You're not gonna let me live this down are you?" you deadpan, then shake your head, "I can't leave, Eskel. Maybe you haven't noticed, but things have been getting rough in this city, especially for my friends. I have to do what I can to help them out."
"Alright, I understand," Eskel nods, "I'm happy to know you're not dead, (y/n), and that you're getting to be the woman you were meant to. Would it be okay to tell any of the other wolves I run into on the Path about you? I'm sure they'll understand. Though, Lambert might be pissed at first when he finds out you've been alive this whole time, but I'm sure he'll come around to forgive you." "Yeah, that sounds like Lambert," you chuckle a little, "yeah, you can tell them."
"Eskel," you say right as the witcher stands up, "I'm glad we could catch up, that I could finally tell you my truth...and I really did miss you guys. I missed you." "...I'm glad you trusted me enough to tell me your truth," Eskel nods before he leaves the inn.
-----------time skip to later that day-----------
You headed back to the Green Mermaid, where you saw Anya drinking alone.
"Mind if I join?" you ask, tossing some coin to the bar keep, "It's on me." "How kind of you," Anya deadpans, handing the ale to you.
"How's Lana doing?" you ask, taking a sip. "She seems better now," Anya admits, "In fact, it seems she's moved on and met someone else." "Oh no," you sigh, fearing the worse. "Oh, I think this one is different," Anya assures, "He's an elf. A tailor to be exact, he works outside the city. I've seen him before, he's frequented this establishment many a time as a matter of fact. Sometimes in dresses, sometimes in doublets." "You think he'll be good to Lana?" you ask. "Only time will tell," Anya merely shrugs, "but I have pretty high hopes with this one."
"Well, I'll hope as well, that girl deserves a happy ending," you say. "As do you," Anya says. "I don't know what you're talking about, Anya." "Oh, come now, (y/n)," Anya insists, "When was the last time you put yourself out there? I know it's not easy, but good gods girl, it seems you've been all work and no play recently. You should go out, at least have yourself a good time with someone."
"Well...I may have met someone recently," you admit, which got the she-elf's attention right away, "Oh? Who is he? Tell me, girl. I want specifics." "Well, it's not really like that," you tell her, "He's...he's someone from my past. A witcher." "Oh?" Anya's eyes widen, "Does...does he know about you?" "Yeah, I told him," you confirm, "Don't worry though, he was accepting. He thought I was dead this whole time, which makes sense since I did fake my death so I could start a new life here. He wanted me to come back to Kaer Morhen to see the other witchers, let them know I'm not actually dead."
"And you'll be going with him?" Anya asks. "No," you shake your head, "I can't leave. There's too much work to do here. He understands." "I can't believe it," Anya sighs. "What, he was understanding," you insist. "No, I mean I can't believe you could be so stupid," Anya elaborates, "I saw that look on your face when you walked in here, (y/n). Now that I know the story, I can see he's clearly someone you deeply care about. Perhaps he was someone you were deeply fond of back then?" "What? Anya, no," you quickly shake your head in denial, "it's not like that! He...We knew each other from since we were wayward youths back in Kaer Morhen. I'm not even sure he would see me that way"
"You don't know unless you find out for yourself" Anya points out, "go to him, (y/n), take the chance, maybe find your happy ending with him if that is your destiny." "I...I can't." "Why not? What's stopping you from going?" "Well, what about you and Lana and everyone else here?" you gesture, "who's going to protect you from your late night sessions at Crippled Kate's or the Rosemary and Thyme? Who's...who's going to stand up for you when the soldier come in and try and rough you up?"
"Well be just fine," Anya assures, placing a hand on your shoulder, "We've made it this far without you, and we'll continue to do so afterwards. We're non-humans, (y/n), we've always found a way to survive." "Oh." "Go to him, (y/n)," Anya insists, "go to him before it's too late."
--------------------------------
It took some time for you track him down, but by the time you had Eskel within eye shot, he was already on horseback right at the very edge of the city. You run as fast as you can.
"Eskel!" you call out, getting the witcher's attention.
"I changed my mind," you tell him, "I know I hurt you and the others when I pretended to die. It's the one thing I've always regretted. But I want to make it right this time. I want to go back to Kaer Morhen, I want to let Vesemir and the rest of my brothers know I'm still alive and well. They need to hear it from me, not from word of mouth from someone else. So...if you'll still have me, I want to go. It'll be nice to see how much the place has changed since last I've been there. Please. Also I would like to get my medallion back."
Eskel looked at you, seeing you were serious about this.
He didn't say anything, but offered his hand to you and lifted you up on his horse. You hold onto him from behind as he guided the horse forward.
Remembering what Anya said, you were extremely aware of intimately close you were to Eskel now, close enough to breathe in his scent and maybe feel the muscles under his tunic.
You feel your face turn hot just from thinking about it, but you quickly push those thoughts out of your mind. You were certain Eskel did not feel that way...maybe.
May consider doing a part 2.

Reading and rambling: The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm
(Tales from Alagaësia VOLUME 1: ERAGON)
~~~
PART ONE: THE FORK
II. A Fork in the Road
~~~
.... Where the blazes is this?
WHO'S point of view is this??
AND WHY do I feel like it's passed their curfew???
Umm. Essie, sweetie, should you be home? I feel like you're a child. Where were you and is it late?
Wharves. Uh. I need the dictionary again.
Is this a winter-y place by the sea or waterway? Girl, hurry up and go home.
Great, I'm still thinking about getting Eragon more protein rich foods and now there's this one!
"I see. Does that make her important?"
Essie shook her head. "It makes her think she's important."
Oooh. We're getting the tea!!! And this "unknown" man has an excellent vocabulary. Uh-huh. I know who you are, pal. "Tornac" ... nice name. 👀🧐
"Essie Siglingsdaughter."
*closes book*
"Who named your mother??"
... All this children drama is intense. Like: been there with dealing with 'miss all-that's'. Do you need help, sweetie?
"Then maybe they weren't really your friends."
Speak the truth! 👏 Give her a head start in learning that. Just because you're social with someone, even for years, it doesn't mean their a friend.
A snort escaped Tornac. "If you don't count being shot at by arrows, then yes."
A young girl who has her sights set high. You know, Beor Mountains high. It's nice to see humans saying something positive about the dwarves and not watching the elves from a distance as if they were wise, mysterious, rude, hunters. Anyway...
"That . . . is a very impressive scar. You should be proud of it." And --> "Because a scar means you survived."
Love it. Love yourself!
"... the big oaf."
A new scar for Tornac from a friend? Hmmm.
"A long, long way from here."
Okay, now with the war and battles over with, I'm curious as to where other people live. Because the only ones native to Alagaësia are dragons and dwarves, right? So what are other human cultures like? Have they traded with other dwarves? Are there advancements in the far north? Do they have eye glasses?
Also, can we just appreciate "Tornac" just being truthful and leveling with Essie on a person to person level?? Trying to bestow wisdom.
And first hand learning apparently if Essie continues to watch everything.
"A whole field scattered with stones."
"Black and burnt?"
"As if seared by fire, but with no sign of flame or smoke."
Hello, mystery. And they smell really really bad...
"... Hand over the rest of your gold, or the youngling here will pay with blood."
Ooooh. Things should get interesting. It's building the tension.
Hold on a minute, folks, we have a development.
Tornac used magic, but it didn't work because all these smelly and armed guys have charmed necklaces. Who's witch-woman Bachel? And how come they don't call it magic?? Ooooh. Different places, different names, different beliefs.
Anyway...
And then he spoke a Word, and such a word it was.
Oooooooh!!! Snap, here we go!
Oh, guess they're under Nasuada's magic laws too. Thanks for clarification, Essie.
Uhhh. The Word didn't change anything. This is a disturbing sign. Yup yup.
*reading fight scene be right back*
"You do not know what you seek, Wanderer. You're moon-addled and nose-blind. The sleeper stirs, and you and me--we're all ants waiting to be crushed."
I feel like this is important along with where the nasty stone is from.
Uh, who are "The Dreamers" and why do I feel like there's a scary plot hidden.
Essie, darling, this is your first step into a wider world. Use the fork well and learn much more.
MISTER STABBY!!!! All the love to Essie, goodness.
. . . Murtagh lifted his head and took a deep breath of night air.
Murtagh, you softie.
Always more mysteries . . .
That's what I'm saying! Let's get down to business~
So again he wondered if perhaps the time had come to turn and face his past.
Someone was watching The Lion King.
Yeah! Go find the witch-woman Bachel and be careful.
Oh my goodness. What a fascinating chapter. I hope we will get an update on Essie in the future. That would be neat. I mean, why would we go from the dragons showing Eragon the world to a complete different point of view.
Was there another purpose for such a view or just because she was closest to Murtagh at that point?
Hmmm

The Dragon Prince: Battle Banter
Revisiting an idea I had were TDP is a fighting game with NetherRealm style prefight dialogue, after playing MK1. Now includes season 4 and 5 characters.
----
Aaravos: Poor little prince, lost in the past.
Karim: Our sun will shine glorious once again.
Aaravos: Tomorrow never comes, what makes you think yesterday's gone are any exception.
Aaravos: I'm a master of subtle manipulation.
Callum: Taking over my body wasn't subtle.
Aaravos: Yet, here you are, right where I want you to be.
Aaravos: I know what you're going to ask me.
Viren: How I'm I still here?
Aaravos: I'm curious about that myself...
----
Finnegrin: Only one way you could've gotten out of those chains, lad.
Callum: You set up your own downfall, Finnegrin.
Finnegrin: This time, I won't bother with the chains.
Nyx: Seriously, Villads the one you want to see about getting the Sea Legs back, not me.
Finnegrin: Nice try, Commadore.
Nyx: Feathers! Should've known that would come back to bite me.
Finnegrin: The Bloodmoon Huntress, and the Pirate Lord.
Kim'Dael: Ours will be a Deadly Partnership.
Finnegrin: Xadia, won't know what hit them.
Finnegrin: You cost me my ship and me crew, girl.
Rayla: Oh no. The poor wee pirate is going to have to do his own dirty work from now on.
Finnegrin: How about I start with you then.
Finnegrin: You can't seriously think your leader material.
Karim: I have a whole army of Sunfire Elves ready to follow me!
Finnegrin: They follow your girlfriend man! Your're just the figurhead.
----
Kim'Dael: I remember you...
Rayla: Except I'm not a weak little girl anymore.
Kim'Dael: Aren't you?
Kim'Dael: What does Startouched blood taste like, I wonder?
Aaravos: Sorry, but my blood is far, far, beyond your reach.
Kim'Dael: Ah, but your vessel very much is so.
Kim'dael: Another toy soldier for me to break.
Corvus: You'll find I'm not so easily broken.
Kim'dael: My dear, your not the first I've heard that from, and you won't be the last.
----
Terry: So, um, we haven't been properly introduced.
Soren: Yeah, kinda hard to do when you wrap someone in leaves.
Terry: Vines actually, not-the-point, my name's Terrestrius, but you can call me Terry.
Terry: Claudia did some messed up things, but she was still so...
Callum: Brilliant, fun, and sweet. Yeah, I've been there too, Terry.
Terry: You really have, haven't you...
Terry: I'm sorry about what Claudia almost did to you.
Ezran: Why did you follow her for so long?
Terry: She was the first to truly accepted me for who I am. I guess that made it harder to see what was happening to her.
----
Karim: We had a deal, Huntress!
Kim'Dael: One you had no means of actually fulfilling.
Karim: I would have, had you not abandoned me!
Janai: Do you even realise what you are doing?
Karim: I am saving our people from your folly, sister.
Janai: You're forfeiting our future to prop up an already lost past!
Amaya: [You broke Janai's heart!]
Karim: Better a broken hearted sister then a prideless people.
Amaya: [Pride is the cause of ruin not it's solution, and it's not more important than family!]
Soren: So you finally proposed to the General, huh? Congratulations!
Janai: I have a vacancy for a Brideshand, if you're available?
Soren: Sure, but what happened to your first- oooh...That spot was for your brother wasn't it?
Amaya: [Shouldn't you still be in the medical tent?]
Corvus: I'm all fixed up. Urgh, honest General.
Amaya: [Really? Then you wont mind a little sparring match.]
Callum: I know I'm taking a risk but, you're not my Queen, so... technically I don't have to do what you say.
Janai: Then I invoke my authority you as your future aunt instead.
Callum: Aww. But still, no can do.
Guest Fighter
Minsc: Many pardons, my furry friend and I are quite lost.
Amaya: [Uh, who are you? Some kind of adventurer?]
Minsc: We are Minsc and Boo! Protectors of the weak, slayers of Bhaalspawn, and sharp thorn in the boot of evil!
Minsc: (squeaks) Boo says he is not speaking with your luminous toad anymore.
Ezran: I'm sure Bait didn't mean what he said.
Minsc: (squeaks) Boo is sceptical, and so is Minsc.
Minsc: Your buttocks is long overdue for a virtuous kicking, fiend.
Kim'Dael: That... is a new one. What manner of madman are you?
Minsc: The Rashemaaran kind!
Minsc: You did well to escape the clutches of your evil father, Soren. You are in good company.
Soren: Thanks. Still... I wish I could've gotten Claudia away too.
Minsc: In Minsc's experience, for evey noble Gorion's Ward, there is usually a vile Sarevok as well.
Minsc: Your mischievous murmurs will have no affect on Minsc, villain. Boo and I will protect this world from you.
Aaravos: Like you "protected" your dear Dynaheir?
Minsc: Go for the eyes, Boo!
Minsc: Minsc and Boo, are here to help you.
Callum: Hey, nice rhyme.
Minsc: Rhyme?
Finnegrin: Why in blazes are you after me barnacle brain? I don't even know you.
Minsc: Wherever there is evil butt to kick, Minsc and Boo stand ready with their finest boots of justice!
Finnegrin: You are without doubt the most absurd man I've ever met.

Word Count: 3,205
Warnings: None
———
Neva stared at the young girl with soulless eyes, she was an elf? That made little to no sense, especially when you considered the elves had gone extinct many years ago! The woman laughed in disbelief. There was no way that this could actually be happening!
“ Nice try, kid,” Neva said as she crossed her arms. “ But do you really expect me to believe that you’re, not only, an elf, but that you’ve been using e as a host for years? What kind of illusion magic is this.” She muttered the last part to herself, and Aven tilted her head.
“ You don’t believe me…” She repeated softly as she made a small humming noise and tapped the tip of her index finger against her lips. “ If I show you, then would you believe me?” She asked Neva curiously, which made the older girl frown.
“ Show me? What…?” Neva asked in a confused tone, and before she could finish her question Aven waved her hand, and suddenly something similar to a screen appeared before her and her eyes widened.
She, Neva, was standing beside Klaus attacking what appeared to be Asta, Mimosa, and Yuno! She watched in horror as she ruthlessly attacked them, but as she spoke, she noticed the voice coming out of her mouth wasn’t really hers. It was Avens.
Neva turned slowly to see the girl grinning like a cat, she chewed the tip of her index finger as she giggled.
“ Judging by the look on your face, I think you believe me now!” Aven said with a gleeful giggle, and Neva glared.
“ What the hell is this?”
“ Wow, you really are dumb, I told you…didn’t I?” Aven frowned suddenly in confusion as she continued chewing on the tip of her finger. “ Maybe I didn’t? Oh well, it doesn’t really matter anyway since you’ll be disappearing soon.”
“ Disappearing soon? What makes you think I’m going to be disappearing soon?”
“ Because Licht told us so, you dummy! And Licht never lies!” The girl said as she stomped her foot and irritation laced her voice, Neva tilted her head, Licht? As in, the leader of the Eye of the Midnight Son? But how could he have told them that when he had appeared to be asleep inside a bubble?
“ Anyway, just go away, you’re boring, and I don’t feel like playing with you anymore.” The girl quickly said as she walked away, and Neva couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
The screen quickly disappeared and Neva couldn’t help but feel a sense of worry as Aven’s words rolled around in her head, she was going to disappear? Then, did that mean Aven was going to take over her body once her soul was gone? Neva quickly shook that thought out of her head, she wasn’t going to let that happen. And, she slightly hoped, that maybe her squad mates wouldn’t let it happen either, although she somewhat doubted it.
Neva walked over to where Aven was sitting and sat down next to her.
“ Since, according to you, I won’t be here much longer, you shouldn’t have any qualms about explaining all of this to me,” Neva said, as she crossed her arms, the girl looked at her and pouted.
“ Are you deaf? I told you already that you’re boring, and I don’t want to play with you anymore.” Aven said as she crossed her arms and turned away, but Neva persisted.
“ You’ve played with me all these years, so playing with me for just a little while longer shouldn’t be too difficult for you, should it?” Neva asked with a quirked brow, and she watched a surprised look flash across Aven’s face.
“ Well…I guess I can play with you for a little longer. But then you’ve gotta leave, okay?!” Aven said firmly as she turned back to look at Neva, who only smirked and nodded.
“ Of course, after you explain everything, I’ll leave.” Neva lied easily, the girl frowned for a moment before sighing.
“ What do you want to know?”
“ Everything. From the beginning.”
“ Ugh, fine, but it’s gonna be a long story,” Aven said with a dramatic sigh before she cleared her throat and began to tell her story.
“ I don’t remember much, to be honest, one minute I was at a wedding with my friends and family, and the next…I was in your body. I think you were the same age as me, you were really tiny!” Aven emphasized this by measuring with her hand. “ But you weren’t really happy, and you didn’t have any friends, and that made me sad. So I decided to be your friend, even though I don’t like and am afraid of humans.”
“ I’ve been watching you grow up quietly, but I also chimed in here and there as you noticed,” She giggled a bit. “ I watched all your good moments, your bad ones, and everything in between. It was like…I was living vivaciously through you.”
“ Well, in a way you were, since we shared the same body.” Neva pointed out before she suddenly frowned. “ ‘Vivaciously’? Do you mean vicariously?”
“ Yeah, that!” The girl suddenly shouted, and Neva couldn’t help but shake her head and try to suppress her laughter.
“ Anyway, one night, a few weeks after I first woke up, I heard someone calling out to me. I followed the sound until I reached a tower full of grimoires, and that’s where I saw Licht, and he explained everything to us. He explained how it was humans that had killed us, and that we should get revenge on them for what they did. And that we had the right to claim our host's bodies, since humans were the ones who caused us to be like this in the first place.” Aven said as she glared a bit at Neva.
“ Hey, I’m not the one that did it to you, so there’s no reason to hate me!” Neva said with a hint of irritation in her voice, but then she frowned in confusion. “ But there’s something I don’t really understand, how could Licht communicate with you when he was asleep?” Now it was Aven’s turn to frown.
“ What are you talking about? Licht isn’t asleep, you dummy, you saw him with your own two eyes. Multiple times!” Aven said as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.
“ Multiple times?”
“ Uh yeah? His host is your freaking Captain!” The girl said as she crossed her arms, and Neva suddenly felt her heart stop dead in her chest.
What…did she just say?
“ You’re…you’re lying, that’s not possible…” Neva said, her voice soft and in disbelief, the girl had to be lying right? Her Captain would never-.
“ The only liar here is you, I pride myself on being honest,” Aven said with a pout, and she tilted her head. “ You really didn’t notice? You nearly caught them a few times, and you usually catch when people are lying to you…” Aven trailed off as she began to bite the tip of her finger, apparently that was a habit of hers.
Neva jumped up and stared at the girl, there was no way Captain Vangeance would betray them, betray her! He knew she didn’t trust anyone except him, so there was no way he would do something like that! He loved his squad, his kingdom, and its citizens, he wouldn’t betray them!
But then again…she had noticed him acting strange lately. He would disappear a lot, he would talk quietly in his office, and whenever the Midnight Sun appeared he was never around and Licht’s appearance looked eerily similar to the Captain’s…minus the scar on his face.
Neva suddenly leaned against the wall of diamond behind her and slid down to the ground, her face pale and shoulders slumping in defeat, it just couldn’t be true, and yet all the evidence pointed to the contrary.
“ You really didn’t know? I’m sorry, I should’ve kept my mouth shut,” Aven apologized. “ I know he means a lot to you-.”
“ I don’t believe it. I won’t believe it, not until he tells me himself.” Neva said quietly yet in a determined tone, she silently hoped that her squad members would hurry up and fix this, so she could find out for herself if what Aven said was true.
The two fell quiet for a few moments, Neva’s mind reeling at the elf’s words, but Aven seemed absolutely calm. She smiled, hummed, and danced around as though it were a normal day. Neva watched her, she was only a child and yet had lost her life in such a dramatic and terrible way. What was a joyous moment quickly became a joyless one, and it dramatically changed her life, something Neva could relate to.
Suddenly, Neva heard a sniffling from behind her, and she frowned and turned around. Behind her was a tall wall made out of diamond, it was as tall and round and looked similar to a tower. She stood up and began to inspect it closer as she heard a few more sniffles, was someone on the other side?
Neva walked along the wall for a few moments before her eyes saw what appeared to be a small crack, she quickly bent down and peered through it.
Inside the wall there appeared to be a small child, they had their knees pulled up to their chest and their arms wrapped around them. Their long hair also shielded their face, but she could clearly see their shoulders shake, confirming to her that the child was indeed crying.
“ Hey kid, are you okay? Do you need some help?” Neva asked, but she received no response, the child just continued to cry and sniffle.
“ It won’t work, I’ve tried talking to her lots of times, but she never answers. All she does is cry.” Aven said as she walked over. “ And don’t bother trying to cut through the diamond either, I tried using lots of my Graphite magic, but it didn’t even make a dent.” Aven pouted as she peered through the crack as well.
Neva looked at the girl more closely, she looked so familiar and yet almost completely unrecognizable. It was like Neva had seen her a long time ago but just couldn’t place her.
“ How long has she been here, locked inside this room all by herself?” Neva asked softly, and she heard Aven hum from beside her.
“ I dunno, I think we got here around the same time. But she’s always been inside this stupid tower.” Aven said as she kicked the wall in irritation. “ So it’s been around 9 years, I think?”
Neva’s eyes widened, 9 years? Her purple eyes suddenly began looking at the girl's clothes. She wore a knee-length dark purple dress with a white cardigan over her shoulders, but on her clothes, Neva could clearly see dust, dirt, and a few rips on her dress that showed signs of a struggle. This girl…
“ I think she’s-.” Neva suddenly started before she heard Aven gasp and suddenly begin to whimper from beside her. Neva moved away from the wall and walked out towards her.
“ Hey, what’s going on? Aven, talk to me!” Neva said, as she reached out and grabbed the girl by her shoulders, the girl began to cry and whimper.
“ I don’t know! It’s like I’m seeing a lot of pictures all of a sudden!” Aven said as she clutched her head. “ I’m seeing a lot of good things, and a lot of bad things too!”
Neva watched the girl, could her memories be coming back? If so, then did that mean that everyone succeeded? Neva had no idea why she suddenly reached out and hugged the girl, but she did.
“ It’s okay, I’m sorry it’s scary, but it’ll be over soon. I won’t leave you here alone, you’ve been with me for so long, and now I’ll be here with you too.” Neva said softly as she tried her best to comfort Aven, she wasn’t really the best at comforting people, but she was certainly going to do her best.
Aven hugged Neva back and cried, but after another minute or two, the girl’s cries turned into small sniffles. She pulled away from Neva and suddenly looked at her; Her dark purple eyes which were cold and lifeless before were now suddenly warm and vibrant, instead of a dark mischievous smile, it was now bright and playful.
It was as though the girl had come back to life.
“ I remember everything now. My dad, my siblings, my friends, even my real name! I remember it all!” Aven said proudly, and Neva’s eyes widened in surprise.
“ Your real name?”
“ Yep! I thought it was Aven, but it’s actually Nene!” The girl said with a happy giggle, causing Neva to grin before playfully patting her hair.
“ I’m glad you remember it all,”
“ I am too! I didn’t realize just how much I missed my brother and sister, and especially my papa!” Nene said before tears welled up in her eyes. “ I wonder if they’ll hate me because I forgot them…”
“ I don’t think they will, in all honesty, they probably forgot about you too until now,” Neva said bluntly, making her wince, she should have at least tried to be a little more…gentle with her words. But Nene giggled.
“ You’re probably right!”
And suddenly the girl began to fade away, like smoke in the wind.
“ Thank you for playing with me and for being my friend Neva, I had loads of fun! Maybe we’ll get to see each other again someday!” Nene said cheerfully but with tears in her eyes, and Neva grinned before nodding.
“ I hope so too, Nene, and thank you for keeping me company all these years,” Neva said softly as the girl disappeared into thin air, as though she never existed in the first place.
Neva watched as the white room around her began to disappear, but before it did completely she took one last, sympathetic look, at the girl in the diamond tower.
She had a feeling that the crack in that diamond wall was going to be completely sealed shortly.
—----
Neva groaned quietly as she suddenly opened her eyes, she blinked a few times to get her eyes to adjust to the low light. It appeared she was back in the ‘real’ world. She looked to her left and saw it was completely dark outside the window, she sat up and suddenly heard shuffling from beside her.
“ Neva! Oh, thank goodness you’re alright!” Mimosa said, her voice full of relief. Neva saw Klaus standing beside her with a worried look in his eyes before they became filled with relief. Her purple eyes moved a little more around the room, and they suddenly met a pair of amber eyes.
Yuno stood at the foot of the bed, his face and body language gave off a serious impression, but his eyes held a worried look in them. ‘Are you ok?’ They seemed to ask without him even saying a word, and Neva nodded in response.
“ What happened? Is everyone alright, what about the Captain?” Neva asked quickly and in a serious tone, the three all suddenly looked at each other. “ Just tell me.” She added, and she watched Mimosa wince a bit.
“ Well…”
Then Mimosa began to explain everything to her. How all the Golden Dawn members had been possessed by elves, along with a few other Magic Knights and Magic Knight Captains. How a lot of cities and towns were destroyed because of them, and how many people lost their lives. How Yuno also had an elf soul but wasn’t possessed like the others were, and how the Licht they had been fighting against this whole time wasn’t actually Licht but was someone named Patri, and…
“ Captain Vangeance, he was possessed too, and by Patri no less,” Mimosa said slowly. “ But not only that, apparently he knew of Patri’s plans and was actively helping him recruit mages that had elf souls. Which is why the entire Golden Dawn was possessed, and he also-.”
“ He knew…what Patri and elves were planning, and he was helping them?” Neva repeated slowly, and Mimosa nodded sadly.
Suddenly, Neva jumped up and walked quickly out of the room.
“ N-Neva wait!”
The platinum blonde-haired girl ignored the calls and shouts from her squad mates and walked quickly, and determinedly, to Vangeance’s office. She needed to hear it directly from him!
She could pass off Nene’s words as lies, but Mimosa’s? Mimosa had no reason to lie to her, especially since she didn’t know of Neva’s close ties to their Captain.
Soon, almost too soon, Neva came upon Vangeance’s office door. Without even thinking, she grabbed a hold of the doorknob and twisted it, but it stopped mid-turn. It was locked. So, Neva did the next best thing she could think of; she banged her fist against the door loudly.
“ Captain! Open the door, I need to ask you something!” Neva shouted loudly as she continued banging against the door.
“ Is it true?! Is what everyone’s saying true, that you betrayed us, that you betrayed me?!” Neva shouted, her voice suddenly growing dry.
“ You…did you only save me that day because I had an elf soul, did you only take me in because Patri told you to?!” Neva shouted in anger. “ You…you never cared about me, did you? I thought…I thought we were family…” Her voice suddenly grew soft, and she noticed a shadow move underneath the door, signaling that Vangeance was on the other side, listening to her.
“ You…you were the only person I’ve ever trusted since that day, and you betrayed that trust. Why…why did you do that? Did I ever even matter to you?” She asked quietly, and she watched as the shadow moved. “ If you open that door…I just might kill you.” The shadow moved again as though he took a step back.
“ If I had known that this was the real reason you saved me that day, I would have never joined the Magic Knights. I would have never idolized you. I…hate you, and I wish you had never saved me that day…Captain Vangeance.” She spat his name and title coldly, she saluted the door with a trembling hand before walking away towards her room.
Neva slammed her bedroom door shut and, in her anger, she ripped her cloak off and threw it into the corner of her room, feeling disgusted just by looking at it. He lied to her, for all these years, he made her trust him only to use it against her. She sat on the floor, with her back against her bed, she pulled her knee’s up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them before burying her face.
She wouldn’t cry, even though she was angry and really felt like crying, she suppressed her tears. It was her fault for trusting him, she should have known better. She should have known this would happen, but she ignored it, and now it came back to bite her.
Her diamond heart, which had a small crack in it, was now completely sealed because of this betrayal.
She would never trust another person for as long as she lived.

Thank you all so much for reading and I hope you all have a good day~!

Murals in DAI: Red Lyrium Idol
Tumblr media
This mural has been shown in Dragon Age Official Teaser Trailer - 2018 Game Awards.
[This post is part of the series “ Murals in DAI ”]
[Index page of Dragon Age Lore]
The context of this mural is unknown to us. We don’t truly know if it was Solas who painted it. We can only guess it was he because it’s a piece of Nick Thornborrow who usually draws Solas’ murals, and because in general the context of the game allows us to assume so. We don’t know where it’s located either.
The Background
Tumblr media
As we saw in Murals in DAI: Basics, the inverted triangle seems to be used to represent the Fade, and it’s the symbol we see in the majority of the places in this piece that are not burning. I imagine that this may represent 1) the destruction of the Veil [or the barrier that surrounds the Black City), or 2) the “surface” of the Sphere of Fire [The Death of a Titan] that has been contained with vines which have worn-out over time. In any case, the fire is what overtakes the image, putting the Fade symbol on a secondary plane.
Tumblr media
There is also a line in the background that seems to suggest that there is a mountain, and what we are seeing is happening at the feet of a mountain. This could also mean a metaphor to link this image with the one related to the sphere of Fire in “The Death of a Titan“ [remember that the right side of that mural shows mountains that may suggest connection with the Waking World or even with The Horror of Hormak].
The Panels
Here, we find a scene that I think is happening in the Fade and against the barrier that isolates the Black City. The background, beyond the fire, shows inverted triangles in a greenish-grey plain colour. The place is set on fire, potentially connecting this scene with the fire sphere in “The Death of a Titan” or simply implying Solas is destroying this danger enclosed in the barrier of the Black City.
I can’t say if this mural shows one or two panels. All the elements are so well integrated that I think the wolf, the elvhen, and the tree are in the same space than the white sphere with the idol inside. The whole scene seems to be a big allegory of what is going to happen. I was not sure if we should consider the white sphere as an independent panel, since the wolf and the elvhen seem to be focused on the white sphere. So, instead of trying to understand this mural in “panels”, I will explore each of the elements in it and see how they integrally connect each other at the end.
The Vhenadahl
Tumblr media
The vhenadahl is a tree with a lot of mystery in the DA games. It’s naively presented as a cultural element kept by the city elves to remember Arlathan and the “Old Ways”. These trees are, curiously, painted in red with white lines and swirls raising up from their roots, which has a strange interpretation for the player who knows about the codex of “The Death of a Titan”: Veilfire Runes in the Deep Roads.
In DA2, Marethari Talas has a very focused cinematic when she enters the alienage and looks at the vhenadahl, which is a bit strange. It can be considered as a scene that shows how the city elves respect her as a Dalish, but it’s curious that so many seconds of a cinematic were given just for that, in a game that has cut a lot of content with more plot relevance.
In The Masked Empire, Felassan makes a very brief comment about this tree too:
Felassan paused as they came to a great tree in the market square. The vhenadahl was decorated with ribbons, and the dirt around it was marked with sticks stuck into the earth and decorated with bits of bright cloth hung as offerings. “The tree of the People,” Briala said. “Your people.” “And yours.” Felassan looked away. “Though you don’t think so.” “It’s a nice tree,” Felassan said. “Let it just be a nice tree.”
It’s not clear the implication of such comment, although I think it’s not a good one for an elvhenan. He seems to imply these tree are “not nice” at all for the ancient elvhen but they are “the Tree of the people”, understanding “the people” as the city elves. This means the elves who came after the fall of Arlathan, the mortal elves, the elves that ended up rescuing a slave culture thinking it was their original elvhenan one. If the Aravels were ships to transport slaves to centres of experimentation [The Horror of Hormak ], and the Vallaslins were the brands of the noble elvhen over their slaves, there is a big chance that this tree has another horrifying meaning that has nothing to do with the original culture of the elves [or maybe, ironically, it is another representation of the “old ways”, like the aravels and the vallaslins are]. Personally, I think it’s related to the vines that covered the “fire sphere”, but I will talk about it later.
In the elven folklore that barely survived, we have some city elf songs that may still have some weak connection with the truth of the real function of these trees for the Elvhenan:
Tumblr media
In the original song of Where Willows Wail, the presence of the words vhenadahl seems to be related to the loss of immortality and the loss of the ability to dream into the Fade. The translation is quite rough to understand it, but it seems to have an elvhen slave origin [it speaks of trying to lead despite the worn-out brands of the vallaslin] and a conflicting relationship with their freedom [they are committed to it, but they describe this freedom as inevitable and troubling].  This way of speaking about freedom makes me think in Abelas and his people: servants of Mythal are more than mere slaves, they worked hard to become her servants, so they embrace this submission to Mythal as a duty, as a purpose, and as a service, so only in this case I can see why freedom may be troubling. This interpretation also makes sense to some degree since the original song has been found in the Temple of Mythal, therefore it must have been written by Abelas’ people, after all.
If we see the original song, the first line use a negative structure [Tel’, Bana] with the name of the tree. The line translates, in my opinion, something closer to “never again the tree” [bellana= forever, banal=never]. They also speak of “abel revas” [abel= sorrowing, revas=freedom]. This encourages the idea of a freedom that has caused more sadness than anything: we know this applies for the Mythal’s servants who had suffered since she died. Maybe the tree is related to this event of losing Mythal too, so they say “never again the tree”. If we combine this with the codex  Veilfire Runes in the Deep Roads, there are three elements that seem to be connected: the death of Mythal, the appearance of the vhenadahl, and the danger unleashed by the Evanuris that was the last straw for Solas. [Explaining my thinking process: Solas says to the Inquisitor that the Death of Mythal was the reason that made him banish the Evanuris; the codex seems to imply it was something else, more horrifying, and probably, connected with her death. Then, the Mythal’s servants suffer their freedom--because Mythal is dead--while sharing some mid-negative sentiment towards the vhenadahl. Hence, maybe the vhenadahl is also connected with her death and the “horrifying thing” that the Evanuris did. This is why I kind of connect these three events with one another]
The most curious detail in the song is that the last part of it is translated using the word "war”, but the original lines does not use the same word at all for that [in fact, we can’t detect any words that may mean “war”], so I feel there is something wrong in this translation or something tricky. The glory and the people were not lost to the war, but to something else which is not a word that can be repeated in both lines. And this “something else” that made lost the people and the glory is related to the “winning/failure” of the Wolf.
I imagine the fact that the translation of win/fail is so extremely ambiguous  because the elven language uses a very ambiguous word on purpose, since the creation of the Veil--the only solution that the “wolf” found--caused a situation that was a win and a loss at the same time. But I still have my doubts about the “war” part.  Sadly, DA series tends to be a bit inconsistent in their elven language and they do not provide much vocabulary about it to have a better guess. Maybe is “am” war? Unlikely, it should be an independent word.

There is another iconic tree in DAI related to the irony of a peace tree turned into a war table. There is not much said about it than this. We can assume it may have been related to the Elvhenan simply because Skyhold was part of a series of fortress under the command of Fen’Harel, so far we can guess, but the construction of this table may have happened at any moment of the history of Skyhold, which has been handed over other races such as dwarves and humans. The symbols we see in the book Art of Inquisition suggest little.
Tumblr media
The tree symbol on this stone can loosely be related to Vallaslins such as Mythal’s [which is too asymmetrical to be related to this one] or the superior part of the vallaslin of Falon’Din [which is symmetrical, but makes no sense for it to be here]. In general, I hardly see any historical link with the elvhenan and a supposed truce [so far, we were not informed that such a thing ever existed]. Plus, if this stone is related to the time of the Elvhenan, it should be related to Fen’Harel, who seemed to have used this fortress as part of his network of operations all over the Waking World and the Fade in his opposition to the Evanuris. So, in general, there is little to say with respect to this tree and I will proceed to discard it from now on when talking about the vhenadahl.
Another connection that I can make with trees and Elvhenan is the disturbing codex A Flowering Imago, which doesn’t show a tree but a vine. Through the codex found on the mural of “The Death of the Titan” [Veilfire Runes in the Deep Roads], we know that a “sphere of Fire” was contained by using vines. I’m not sure how much these vhenadahl can be considered “vines” [or maybe its roots can be described as such], but maybe through them and in combination of both previous codices, we may be hinted a subtle connection between Uthenera [which seems to be connected with the vines via A Flowering Imago], and a power to control or restrain a danger underground. Of course this concept is super loosely for my taste, but it’s impossible to say more than this without turning it into a wild speculation.
Tumblr media
In one of the last peeks/trailers that showed some DA:D images, we have seen that it may exist an extra meaning to these tree, since one of them appears in an ominous way.
Tumblr media
In that image we can see a tree similar to the ones found in the Exalted Plains, surrounded by some Dwarf with long limbs statues and a lot of funerary urns that were used in Ferelden buildings as well as in Elven ruins. The tree seems to be covered by an ignited vine that reminds us a lot to the codex Veilfire Runes in the Deep Roads, where the vines cover a red sphere and the runes worn-out over time [associated with anger and fire] as a way of preventing a disaster.
Tumblr media
In our exploration of the Exalted Plains [a place that was supposed to have ancient Elvhen buildings such as the Dead Hand or the Citadelle du Corbeau, but were retaken long ago by ancient Dalish around the time of Halamshiral/before the Exalted March against the Dales], we see many big trees with corpses hanging from them. I’m not so sure how many of them could be considered as consequence of the current War of the Lions [Celene vs Gaspard], or as remnants of the time of the Dalish Kingdom and the Exalted March that separated the elves into city elves and the different Dalish clans. If the ancient Dalish got some symbols right [like the wolves as protectors] maybe their interpretation of these trees could have some hint closer to the truth than the modern city elves have.
Tumblr media
As a last link to the vhenadahl, we should not forget that Mythal seems to be related to a tree symbology deeply if we take into account her Vallaslin, so the vhenadahl may be related to her, who represented justice and motherly kindness, but we need not to forget that she also had a clear side of Vengeance and Revenge as we learnt in the Altar of Mythal  [A detail that has disturbed me a lot because makes Elgar’nan as another aspect of herself instead of being another Evanuris]. Mythal is also related to the Uthenera Chamber we saw in the Deep Roads,  Lower Walkways, so we find another soft link again between Mythal, tree roots=vines, and Uthenera.
Tumblr media
So, if we keep in mind all these details, and return to the concept art of the vhenadahl, and use the symbols we have gathered along the games such as the swirls [check Murals in DAI: Basics], one could be inclined to think that these trees represent something that absorbs a red danger underground, maybe even controlling it. This power of control may be related to lyrium or Fade [swirls] which is also compatible with the idea of being related to Uthenera too. Once again, we can see the subtle link between this iconography and a “vine covering a fire sphere” from the codex  Veilfire Runes in the Deep Roads. All this also seem to be potentially related to Mythal and her death.
Considering all this context, we return to the mural:
Tumblr media
The tree we see at the left of the mural looks a bit thorny. If we can link this to a subtle interpretation of a thorny vine we know via Murals in DAI: Basics that this is a symbol related to darkspawn and the Blight.
It’s also true that this tree has no painted trunk, but we need to remember that only city elves paint their vhenadahl. These tree represent something more ominous to any elvhenan elf.
With the details explained above, I’m inclined to think that this tree may be related to containing and controlling a danger described in codices as a “sphere of Fire”. Its roots can be aesthetically interpreted as vines, controlling the danger underground. Via A Flowering Imago, we can relate vines with Uthenera. The vhenadahl may be related to lyrium, Fade, and potentially Uthenera in an unknown way so far. In this mural, it is suggested that the tree is on fire as well, unable to control the “thing that will destroy the world” after aeons passed [Veilfire Runes in the Deep Roads]: Its protective power has worn out. Since the vhenadahl may represent the last barrier containing the “big danger”, Solas’ figure steps forwards to take actions.
The Elf and the Wolf
The elvhen figure, who seems to be Solas, has red eyes, same as the black wolf in the mural. Red eyes usually are a representation of anger, which in this case, and inside the context of having absorbed Mythal, could be interpreted as Solas acknowledging and indirectly working to accomplish Mythal’s revenge. I mean, I don’t think his main goal is to avenge Mythal, but his plan of destroying the Veil and fighting the banished Evanuris will have consequences that will fit such revenge.
We know Flemeth had decided to avenge Mythal, to give her “a reckoning that will shake the very heavens”, but she also agreed to give her power to Solas, because, most likely, she may have known that this revenge would be accomplished nonetheless through his plan as a side effect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The elvhen figure is wearing a black robe with a symbol [a stylised dagger mark] that looks similar to the one I found in the Dorian’s tarot card. It’s still a bit different to the strange “dagger” symbol from the mural “The Creation of the Veil”. I really can’t guess with some decent justification what this symbol may imply. I didn’t see it in any other context/drawing of Nick Thornborrow.
The red circle behind the elvhen figure seems to be a halo, since it’s centred in his head. It could be a representation of Divinity [in a sense that it’s a halo, which is a symbol always related to sanctification and divinity] but filled with anger [since it’s red] so my guess is that this red halo may represent what Solas has absorbed with Flemeth’s powers: the duty to accomplish Mythal’s revenge alongside his plan of destroying the Veil and get rid of the sealed Evanuris.
Tumblr media
The black wolf has red eyes and some parts of his fur show the swirly details that the statue of the Howling Fen'Harel statue displays, so this wolf is Fen’Harel, the guardian/protector.
Tumblr media
Due to its grim-looking and the splashes of black ink around him and Solas [very similar to Solas’ last tarot card which shows black tendrils feeding the towering black wolf behind] it can also be associated with the Demon of Regret from the short story Callback from Tevinter Nights. This wolf in the mural can be a representation of Fen’Harel but also of this demon that Solas has been feeding since the day he created the Veil. It has a colossal size because that’s the amount of regret Solas has gathered in his long life.
Tumblr media
Curiously, the ground where the elvhen figure is walking on looks like a part of a sphere or piece of land set on fire. Its border seems to show a certain kind of “dashed” line that we can interpret as a worn-out Veil-like barrier that we had talked about in other posts.
Tumblr media
What if this piece of ground is a representation of the sphere of fire as well? Solas may be walking on the sphere of Fire that floats in the Fade [metaphorically speaking, this is art after all].
The white sphere and the Red Lyrium Idol
Tumblr media
I always made a soft link between Solas’ words at the end of Trespasser with the murals “The Death of a Titan” and its codex Veilfire Runes in the Deep Roads: the reason why he banished the Evanuris was “the death of Mythal”, but we also know it was more than that; it was about preventing the “release of something that would put at risk the whole world” [that it is implied in that codex] and that Solas kept in secret so nobody would be tempted to use it ever again [or maybe he kept it in secret so it would not be reflected in the Fade as well, and any reflection may be sealed inside the Black City]. In that sense, the Red Lyrium Idol seems to be the synthesis of both concepts in this image.
Tumblr media
Due to the structure of this mural, the dashed border, and all our study of the iconography of the Veil in Murals in DAI: Basics, we can conclude that this white sphere with the idol represents something dangerous, and likely, related to all the symbols we saw that exist inside this kind of barrier in previous murals: Black City, red Lyrium, and Evanuris or pride creatures.
This circle has the same border we saw in other murals [ Murals in DAI: Basics]. It represents a strong barrier, usually the one that forbids the entrance to the Black City, where neither dreamers nor spirits can reach to. This circle contains a danger: the red lyrium idol.
The similarity of this idol with Mythal were explored in the post Red Lyrium Idol, and seems to coincide with Solas’ claim that the Evanuris were banished because the Death of Mythal [idol] and the whisper in the codex Veilfire Runes in the Deep Roads [potentially the red lyrium]. We need to highlight that the idol seems to represent the death of Mythal thanks to some common elements both images share like the spiked crown and the presence of a ring that looks like a Golden Ring [Elvhenan symbol].
Since this sphere is white, and it’s behind the wolf figure, it has an extra potential interpretation of a moon, but it’s not clear how much importance this has or how this affects Fen’Harel. The presence of the moon inside the DA lore has never been important, and it’s barely related to Elvhenan so far the games/books showed us. I know that the Dalish have some lore associated with it: Andruil is the sister of the “moon” [Andruil: Goddess of the Hunt], which may mean that the moon is Sylaise: the Hearthkeeper, but like I always say, this is extremely unreliable, and without another source that would guide us to see where the hint of truth lays, it’s usually a waste of time to make speculations only based on these legends.
Tumblr media
Two of the seven semi-circles in here are still glowing in gold, meaning “divinity alive” or “god-like power” still alive. Inside of them there is an asterisk symbol. This may mean--if all our previous conclusions in murals like “The Creation of the Veil” or “The Death of a Titan” were correct--that the (power of a) "heart” of the Titans/ elvhenan orbs are related to the last archdemons: Moon-head creature and Beetle-head creature.
Thanks to one of the last trailers of DA:D, we see that the two semi-circles which are still active are related to the symbols of the creatures that appeared in the last mural of DA:D : the two remaining archdemons [further explanation about them in the post “The Destruction of the Veil”]
Integral conclusion
If we assume that this scene is happening in the Fade, according the inverted triangles in the background, Solas would be walking, metaphorically speaking, on the fire sphere related to the codex Veilfire Runes in the Deep Roads. The vhenadahl seems to represent the worn-out mechanism that was protecting the world [green vines] from the danger inside the fire sphere [we can assume that its roots can also be seen as vines, which are restraining this ancient danger underground]. It’s not clear if the vhenadahl has a relationship with lyrium and Uthenera processes even though there are some codices that may show a soft subtle link to one another.
Solas walks in front of the vhenadahl since this last barrier has fallen and now all depends on Fen’Harel/Solas to fix the world, remove the Veil, and deal with the sealed Evanuris and the biggest danger that the world has ever faced for good.
Solas brings with him the ire of Mythal [red halo] while the black wolf also seems to join efforts against this battle, although it could also be a mere observer as he keeps feeding on Solas’ regrets. It’s not clear what function the big black wolf has in this mural. We can be sure it represents Fen’Harel [thanks to the swirly pattern on its fur] as well as the Regret demon that Solas has been unconsciously feeding since the day he created the Veil [due to the inky splashes around it].
The “big danger” seems to be represented by the white circle that should be containing the Black City. Instead, it has the red lyrium idol in the centre of the white sphere.
Tumblr media
This makes a lot of sense when we see the mural “Destruction of the Veil”, where it is revealed that the Black City is contaminated with Red Lyrium too.
This terrible danger is contained inside a dashed lined barrier we have seen before, which has seven gates and/or protectors, where only two are alive now. This reinforces the idea that the contention mechanism of this big danger has been weakened severely. Based on another trailer of DA:D, we can connect symbols to these gates/protectors, which seem to represent the Archdemons shown in the mural “Destruction of the Veil”.
If we contrast this with Solas’ words about the Blight and his disapproval of killing archdemons, it seems to reinforce the idea that the dragons which are considered archdemons during the Blights are part of this mechanism of protection. Hence, there are only two dragons-archdemons protecting the world from this bigger danger.
This white circle also seems to look like a moon. It’s not clear if the moon representation has an important role in Elvhenan lore. We only know based on the unreliable Dalish tales that the moon can be related to Sylaise herself.
The most integral speculation I can make with all these elements is that inside the barrier that forbids access to the Black City even for the spirits, contains something that the Evanuris “unleashed in their lust for power” and it’s related to the death of Mythal. Maybe it’s the very thing that killed her [remember it’s hard to kill an Evanuris, because Solas implies they have some effective immortality going on, but they managed to kill Mythal anyway].
Solas managed to seal this danger, probably with the Evanuris trapped inside too, in order to prevent further spreading, and buried all this underground and under the most cryptic secret so nobody would be ever be tempted to use it, and sealed its reflection in the Fade inside a powerful barrier that keeps Dreamers and spirits away [so, he made a double seal= in the Waking World underground and in the Fade, inside the Black City]. Somehow, all these concepts seem to be represented in the red lyrium idol, which reinforces our suspicion that it pictures the death of Mythal protecting “the people” [further details in Red Lyrium Idol ] and unleashing a disease hard to control, accidentally or on purpose is not clear, as a last gesture of revenge.

Who are you, Lloyd?
You knew that you shouldn't be here. But his parents asked you to. You knew that it would make your friendship with him all the more worse, if you even were friends in the first place.
But, for the sake of the baron's son, you had to ask a witch about Lloyd. She was a rather pretty woman, but she was a scaredy cat. So when she first saw you, she shrieked. I mean, who wouldn't, when your face was tinted red from the bear who just tried to eat you? Luckily, none of that blood outside your body belonged to you.
"I'm sorry to bother you, but I have a question.", you said as you stepped into her humble home without asking, nor brushing your mudded boots, to which she grumbled under her breath.
"Make it quick. And also clean up your shoes."
"It's about the son of the baron I'm serving. Lloyd Frontera. He's uh...he's...not really himself?", you tried to explain, but you missed the words which woud suit for what you were wanting to say.
However, the witch was patient, and so, with you trying to form sentence upon sentence, did you finally manage to tell how from a Lloyd who was a drunkard and bad person became suddenly an estate developer and a businessman.
"And he just recruited a hundred and twenty Orcs for faster building? I don't even recognize the person I have to look over anymore...!", you finished, sipping on the sweet tea the witch brewed you while you were telling the story.
"Hm...to me, it sounds like a rare occurence of 'soul exchange'. Maybe, and I am talking on a very wild guess, it can be that the Lloyd you knew all your life until these past days has...well, died."
You flinched. "What?! D-don't you think that's a bit exaggerated??"
"There could be a chance, no? I mean, according to you, he was a drunk guy who was just utter trash. And maybe, he died at the same time another person died.", the witch's soft voice explained. Actually, she could be right.
If there could be Orcs, witches, monsters, dragons and elves in your world, why couldn't there be a new Lloyd?
"But...what should I do? I can't just tell him that he's not the same he once was!"
"Why don't you try getting to know the new Lloyd then?"
You blushed at that. 'Th-the knew Lloyd? Hmm...such a hassle. No, I'm going to confront him!'
...
"Ah, ____! There you are!", the baron's son exclaimed as he saw your approaching figure. 'Damn, the author really did describe ____ exactly how he looks in front of me. Tall, handsome, and nice. At least he's not like Javier. But still...he's beautiful...!'
He noticed your frown, a troubled expression on your face as you strutted uneasily towards him. "Mr. Frontera, I-I have a request!"
"Eh? A request? For me??", Lloyd asked with a confused smile as he followed you. You lead him to your home, and Lloyd blushed more.
'What is he trying to achieve...? I have work, but if ____ needs something, work can wait...What are your plans, ____?'
You led him to your table, with a freshly baked apple pie standing on it. You applied a little too much sugar, but you did it with the intention of him hitting you, but none of it. "Mm, your pie is good, but you applied a little too much sugar, ____. But is this the only thing you-Whoah!!"
Lloyd found himself pinned against your kitchen table, with your larger frame right on top of him. Lloyd couldn't miss the way you growled at him, demanding an explanation. However, Lloyd didn't know what for you could need an explanation for. All he could think about were your glowing eyes, your angry expression, how you were holding his hands in one of your larger ones and your other held his waist to the counter.
Yeah, Lloyd was turned on right now. "U-uhm, ____? D-do you mi-"
"You are not the Lloyd I know, so tell me who the hell you are!", you hissed as you glared at him angrily. But, Lloyd could see tears swelling in your eyes. Maybe out of frustration?
"____...I'm sorry. I've changed-" "Stop! Stop it!", you yelled as you puched him away from you and gripped your hair tightly. "I know that you are not Lloyd, but please, whoever you are, tell me where the old one is!"
There was a moment of silence, with you panting as you looked at 'Lloyd' with a look of hurt, betrayal, hope, and big sadness.
Suho Kim, who now possessed Lloyd's body, looked at you with guild. "____, I'll...explain everything to you. My actual name is Suho Kim, and I think I died in my previous life...? Anyway, now I'm in Lloyd's body, and, well, I tried to make the most out of it."
You only stared at him before leaning against the wall and sliding down while covering your face. (drama queen ig)
"Listen, I know that it was hard for you to endure this all, given the fact the Lloyd you knew before is no longer there, but I promise that I'll be better than him. I'd also like to get to know you better, ____."
Lloyd sat down next to you. "You know, at first, I thought that you'd be just like Javier, but you're not. You're so much sweeter, kinder, more emotional, and you tell me more. You're a good guy."
Suho slowly couldn't contain your silence anymore, and for a moment, he thought that you'd had fallen asleep. But you just raised your head to him. You looked depressed. "I don't like how you compare me to Javier, and I don't like how you talk about Lloyd as if he was a bad person.
Lloyd might have been trash, throwing tantrums, drinking the whole time and being horrible with women, but he was the one me and Javier had to dedicate our lives to. I don't know if Javier enjoys being your knight, but I'm glad that you, Suho Kim, could cure his sleeping problems. And as for me...", you trailed off, averting your eyes shyly.
Suho remembered that you were actually introduced as the love interest, but you died protecting Lloyd. Lloyd actually never liked you, but you just found something in Lloyd very alluring, and Suho didn't know what.
Suho felt bad. Bad that you lost the person you somehow fell in love with -he wanted to hit the author of the novel for putting sweet you together with somebody like Lloyd and the also having the audacity to give you a grotesque death scene- and even worse that you found out about it.
"...I don't know why, but I felt shy whenever I looked at him. Sure, he is not the best option to fancy, but I just...I felt a connection to him. And now he's gone..."
Suho sighed. "...____, could you try moving on? Forget about the old Lloyd...if it helps you in some way, uh, I c-could go on a few dates with you...!", the man sitting next to you advised, and you both blushed furiously at the thought.
You groaned. "Thanks, but...I don't know...I feel like everything's moving too fast? Yeah, that must be it...", you muttered, staring at the dust which was starting to form on your boot.
But, Suho didn't want to give up yet. You were sitting next to him, in all your vulnerability, and...he wanted you. All to himself.
"I'm the greediest man you know, right? All about money, coins, all that gold and silver and being rich. Well, I'm also another kind of greedy.", he whispered as he looked up to you.
"I'm greedy for your love, ____."
Your flustered expression couldn't have been cuter, and Suho smiled fondly at you. "I know this is a lot to take in, but please bear with me. You are one hell of a handsome knight, ____."
"W-wait! You can't just confess! We-we don't even know each other!"
"Ah, yes...but hey, at least you know that I like you. And I'll make you fall for me in no time!", was the last thing Suho said before he gave you a little kiss to the cheek and ran out of your house.
He left you sitting in your kitchen, with you hesitantly touching the place he put his lips on, and you sighed with a red face.
'Feelings are so hard...', you thought.
Meanwhile, Suho ran as fast as he could away from your house, and into the secure walls of his chamber. There, he panted as he jumped on his bed and kicked his feet.
'Oh my god, I can't believe I actually did it! It feels so right, but what if I can't make ____ fall for me?! I'm not even good with women! Why did I even say such a thing?! And his cheek, gosh, ____'s cheek! It's so soft!!!! AAAAARRGH! What should I do!??!', Lloyd thought as he giggled and whirled around in his bed.
Javier, and Lloyd's father exchanged concerned looks as they heard Lloyd's giggling.

OC-tober Day 5: Relationships
Tumblr media
I was going to do a chart but I have too many characters and I haven't introduced them all yet so instead I'll take this as an opportunity to introduce two OCs at once, my two absolutely terrible guys, Laurel and his husband Faust!
(warning for brief mentions of mind control in the context of Laurels powers, lemme know if there's anything else in here anyone would want a warning about that I missed)
Laurel is the closest thing Dualiti really has to a villain, as mentioned in his neocities blurb. but due to Dualiti's very static state of being, he's mostly been bothering the same places and people for the last 1000 years, the only thing changing being who's being sent to fight him. either way, he is extremely content with the status quo he's in, where he has a lot of control in his little bubble and can do basically whatever he feels like. He and Vex have a very complicated rivalry, but that's a whole different quadrant- *I AM IMMEDIATELY DRAGGED OFFSTAGE BY SECURITY*
His husband is Faust, a mad scientist who is the absolute worst. just about everyone who meets him is immediately repulsed by his personality, which is "I am smarter than everyone else and anyone who claims otherwise is stupid and wrong, even when I am actively failing at something". somehow, though, Laurel is absolutely charmed by his cringefail demeanor. it also helps that Faust is equally head over heels for him. they are both completely terrible but I guess somehow they cancel eachother out, so that's nice? I'm glad they managed to find eachother.
Laurel Fun Facts:
Though Laurel looks like just a really tall elf, (he is 7'6". elves in the universe of Dualiti do not get that tall ever.) he's actually a sentient magical organism that is puppeting a corpse to function as his main body. that organism is the slime, which manifests on his body as the hair coming from his head.
when Laurel (the magic organism) consumes matter, it produces more slime, which can be used as structures, weapons, and as means of controlling others.
He can make hunters by basically infecting people with himself, (someone ingests the slime, it gets into an injury, ect.) and puppeting them from the inside. once he's infected someone, they're basically already on his network, and he can step into the controls any time. (you know, like vris- *I am once again dragged offstage*) he doesn't use it a lot unless he has to, though. he likes the challenge of convincing people to work for him.
(also just to get it out there because I mentioned Laurels powers and I want to make it clear that, no, Faust isn't being mind controlled or anything. he just encountered someone who actually genuinely liked him and went full Gomez Addams about it)
He is very much inspired by my love of classic disney villains. always love a character who is awful and is having so much fun with it. Shoutout to my girl Maleficent she inspired SO much about Laurel without me even realizing it.
as mentioned, he and vex have sort of a weird rival thing going on. do they hate eachother? are they best friends? something else? fucking. I don't know man.
Tumblr media
(shout out to Hark a Vagrant by Kate Beaton for the reference)
you can tell thats old art because laurel doesn't have his cape yet. anyway, now we're moving on to
Faust Fun Facts:
Faust is very much inspired by characters like Doctor Robotnik, or Berdly of Deltarune. basically characters that are very confident in being super smart even when they probably aren't actually.
this isn't to say he's bad at what he does, he's really good at making robots and doomsday devices and the like- he's just bad at realizing that maybe he shouldn't keep putting in the function for them to explode randomly or at the slightest interference. high intelligence, fucking AWFUL wisdom.
He and Laurel met when Faust accidentally crashed his egg-mobile type thing into Laurels mansion and DIRECTLY onto the table Laurel was having tea at.
Tumblr media
it's honestly a miracle Laurel thought he was funny and didn't end up killing him.
Faust does smoke, even though as a hunter/undead he doesn't really like, get any of what you would get from a cigarette. old habits die hard. (maybe he just likes the taste.)
as mentioned he is absolutely hopeless over Laurel. Laurel could literally do anything and Faust would think it was great. thankfully Laurel likes him just as much right back, which means that Faust can fuck up his evil schemes as much as possible and Laurel will not even care. he loves his silly little idiot so much.

So some days ago, I decided to read the hobbit and the lord of the rings. And i finished reading the hobbit. And it was fun. There was a meddling wizard, stupid trolls who argue over cooking methods, nasty goblins, wolves, giant spiders, nice elves, a slightly creepy creature living beside an underground lake, an awesome magic ring, ( yes, i thought that a magic ring which can turn you invisible was pretty neat while reading the hobbit, thank you very much, can we please move on), some nice elves and men, a dragon, a mountain full of treasure, 13 dwarves who seemed to share a single brain cell amongst them and a hobbit who by sheer dumb luck made it to the mountain. Okay so dwarves are greedy bastards and doesn't want to share their gold? Poor lake people got their town burned oh please guys give that bard guy some gold he killed a DRAGON for goodness' sake. Where does the army of elves came from? Why do they want gold? It's not theirs, well factor some not nice elves. There's a pretty shiny rock, oohh i guess that's important ( then i also read a book about 3 pretty shiny rocks and the number of people who died or were killed for them, 😐)Ahh, there is a dwarf army too, i guess they'll fight it out. ooh poor hobbit, don't you dare hurt him mr. Dwarf King. What's that in the horizon? An army of the mutual enemy who wants to kill everyone? And everyone united to kill them instead? How are the eagles involved again? Ohh the king and his nephews are dead, his cousin is now king, well at least he apologized before dying. Ohh bilbo returned home. Okay the end. It was good.
Then i watched the movies.
WHAT? Are you telling me THiS Guy here is Thorin Oakenshield? But but, he is going to dieeee. I don't want him to die. Wait, Fili and Kili are so cute, but they are also going to die.
Ahhh, complex dwarf character, they had a home and then the dragon happened and now they don't have a home and they want their home back even if it means there are only 13 of them, (and a hobbit, and a wizard though he might run away at times, who knows, wizards) against a dragon. It is about reclaiming your home and not only about the gold, ahhh someone kill me imma die from the feels.
Wait, why are you making the- are you making the already hot exiled dwarf king even more hot and complex and broody, it is not fair, he is going to die in the end. Where is the dmaned director, i hate you.
No no heart don't you dare fall in love this guy is going to die and break your heart in the end, red flags, red flags, abort mission.
Waiitttt, so there is the hobbit and the dwarf, are you sureee there is nothing going on between them?
So the little dwarf prince fell for a elf, and his uncle hates elves cause they didn't help them when the dragons came, okay then, but i miss the nice elves from the books, but this elvenking is also kinda hot.
Does this elf prince have spider powers? Man he is reminding me of peter parker how is he maintaining balance while fighting like that?
Oooh damn, bard is also hot. *Screams in a pillow*
I feel like the 3rd movie is gonna break my heart.
Okay the dragon's gone, i likey like bard's children, they are cute. Go away Alfred no one wants to hear you. Annddddd Thorin went mad, so did some dwarves to a lesser degree, and bilbo is sad, you can't literally see the heartbreak in his eyes, you can feel it across the screen, i am also sad bilbo. You are not alone.
Ahhh Thorin smiled at Bilbo and gave him mithril shirt, are you absolutely sure they are just friends mr. Director?
Thorin's eyes, i can see how they turn back and forth between blue and black. I feel the struggle. Ahhh come on Thorin you can fight it.
Ahhh, Bofur you are Bilbo's bff, i knew it.
Wait, are you also sure there's nothing going on between Thranduil and Bard? Or the wizard and the badass lady?
Here it comes, here it comes, the battlement scene, Thorin don't hurt bilbo can't you see you are breaking his heart and mine too.
Ahh Dain is funny. The elves fight so pretty.
See, this is what happens when you ignore the wizard, damn you people, he was trying to tell you about the army since foreever, why are you acting so surprised now.
Is legolas into gymnastics? How the hell could he fight like that? I thought elves were nature lovers and star gazers, i didnt know they were into acrobatics.
Oh thank Eru Thorin's fine now. Yee boys go and bash some orc skulls. No, nooo don't go there there is another army ahhh. *Screams into pillow again*
Nooo, FILIII.... *Starts crying 😭😭😭*
KILI not you tooo ... Tauriel is sad, so am i.
Ahhhh THORIN 😭😭😭😭 ahdievxosnwbixjqoevdooqnckcn
He dies, he dies in his Hobbit's arms and you cannot tell me they are just friends, I don't- i won't believe it.
* screams and cries and throws things, there are tissues scattered everywhere, the family members thinking i am mad.*
So mr. director come here let's have a chat, i have cookies. *Creepy smile.*
Why did you make a greedy dwarf king into a three dimensional complex character who is prideful but also wants the best for his people, and casted a damned hot guy as him and made him look at the camera like THAT and smile like THAT when you knew he was goinggg to dieeee? I was not mentally prepared for this shit and now i have trauma and it's your fault and i swear I'm gonna murder you with conkers you-

Good morning/evening! It's muffin anon. Now, *deep breath* imagine;
Fingon, with a freshly reascued Maedhros ends up in modern doctor reader's backyard. Not backyard-kun on its way to become truck-kun of reverse isekai. After a brief confused period, doctor reader takes them in, gives them a place to stay and starts treating Maedhros. It takes quite some time for Mae to fully heal even with elivsh healing and modern medicine. Reader becomes close with Fingon at the long nights where they need to keep an eye on Mae's condition. Reader also becomes attached to Maedhros as caring for someone's health for a long time makes you feel close to them even if you have never really spoken.
After Mae recovers him and Fingon disappear the exact way they had appeared, mysteriously and into the night. Reader struggles to find meaning in life again as caring for and protecting these elves was their goal in life for quite a long time. But, they eventualky manage to get back on their feet.
In a twist of fate, Reader finds themselves in the outskirts of Amon Ereb some time after the Third Kinslaying. They get found by a patrol and are brought to Maedhros. The two have a nice and emotional reunion. (I would love to read their reactions feom your pen.) And Maedhros lets Reader stay and makes sure all of their needs are seen to as he feels indebted to reader for healing him.
Reader meets with Maglor, who both Maedhros and Fingon talked a lot about during their stay. Reader gets close to Maglor as well.
And Reader meets the twins. Reader falls in love with these very cute children at the first sight and practically becomes a co-parent liek Mae and Maglor.
Also, imagine tiny Elrond being fascinated with reader's medical abilities and reader teaching him modern medicine.
But, reader leaving right before the War of Wrath by the same force that keeps sending people around the multiverse.
Reader lands home and this time, they are very disturbed and cannot find meaning in life. One day, they cross street without looking both ways and, you guessed it, truck-kun does his work and isekais reader to Middle Earth. This time about 5 years before the war of the ring, in Rivendell. Elrond is very surprised to see Reader again and they have a heartwarming reunion. Reader ia treated with utmost reapect in Rivendell, both as a healer of great skill and as a parental figure to their Lord.
Reader lives their best life in Rivendell, though seeing the once life filled elven race so old and torn breaks their heart.
When the War of the Rings comes, reader goes with the Grey Company and helps the healers in Minas Tirith. They earn the respect of the Gondorians and become the Master of the Healing Halls after Aragorn's coronation. They introduce modern medicine to Gondor and help rebuild the ruined parts of the city.
When it is time for Elrond to sail, reader and him can be found hugging and crying while saying goodbye.
Reader comes back to Minas Tirith. Reader helps to reform Gondor's healing methods, stop epidemics from spreading and occasionally help Aragorn with court matters. People are impressed with reader's problem solving ability, little do they know it is all modern knowladge taught in schools.
Readers lives a long, prosprous and fulfilling life in Gondor and pass away at old age. They go down in history as the 'mother/father of medicine'.
I feel like this story has been a little too sweet. It needs an angsty twist. But I couldn't figure out what it could be.
What do you think about this unusally non angsty story from me?
Oh, Muffin. It's good, but I think getting pulled forth and back by the time and space has angst enough on its own. I don't think anyone would retain their sanity if they get tossed around like a potato sack and how about this --- since reader does technically die by the truck and is technically reincarnated. What if they get reborn as an elf? They kept their memories and knowledge in healing. They do their thing in Middle Earth and Gondor then tries to seek out Maglor, so they can sail to the Undying lands together to be reunited with Elrond and the rest of their family. Reader doesn't have to spend their time alone and could see Fingon again. A happy ending after experiencing three ages in a row. It's the least reader deserves.

Royal! Twilight! Rocking chair!!
Thank you for the prompt ❤️ The thing I felt most like writing about for this prompt was my Skyrim oc, Osk Frostborn. This is a ship I have not written before but have wanted to write for a long time.
Skyrim | Dragonborn x Ulfric Stormcloak | Mature
Tumblr media
Winter in the Marrow: I
Have you ever opened up a book and seen words, but not known what to do with them?
Osk sat in a hard wooden chair, staring past the fire in the Nightgate Inn. Outside, the snow had been like spikes, in her eyes and in her hair.
The bard here was loquacious.
"Those is heavy weapons," said the bard with her hands folded around her lute. "Ebony weapons? You must be rich then."
"I'm a good smith," said Osk.
"Well, it's your hair then. Your hair gives you away." The bard had a slight lisp. She had an accent straight from the lowlands of the Rift. She wore bright red make-up on her cheeks, a rouge made from snowberries, which felt on trend to Osk, considering what she’d seen the women wearing in Solitude in those days. She had round hips, but she couldn't have been much older. Maybe in her late twenties. "Plus you had to learn smithing somewhere," the bard went on. "From someone, right? Ebony. That's expensive juice."
"What are you talking about?" said Osk.
"I mean, your hair," said the bard. She sat down in the rocking chair beside the fire, right next to Osk. "It's long and very blond. Like, white. Looks like you were born from fear."
Osk laughed at this. "That's an old wive's tale."
"Well, maybe," said the Bard. Her hair was very red. "But you were born in the Pale, weren't you?"
Osk did not answer.
"Maybe Winterhold, I suppose. Nords up in Winterhold look nigh on as elves, I'd say. They're so old in the marrow. Lots of them come ‘round here. They farm winter crops, or they're mages. But you are not a mage I reckon. I've never seen you before."
Osk took a drink from her flagon. It was punishing and strong. Some sort of mulled wine. Or maybe not. She'd already forgotten what the innkeeper had offered. "I haven't lived in Skyrim since I was a baby."
"Where'd you go?"
"Somewhere else."
"I'm just trying to make conversation."
"A lot of bards have said the same exact thing, but they don't work for themselves."
"You aren't being too kind," said the bard. She seemed sad now. She looked down at her freckled hands. "I ain't no spy. I know the bad rap we got, us bards. But I ain't no spy. I swear. I'm from Falkreath. Helgen."
"Helgen?" said Osk. She had been wrong, and she felt bad. "Do you know what happened to your town?"
The bard nodded sadly, looking down at her lute. "Mother sent home about it. She's in a bad way now, I believe. Moved to Whiterun where she lives in the inn."
"I'm sorry," said Osk. "I really am." She wasn’t trying to be a bitch. She took a deep breath instead. "I don't tell people where I'm from, okay? It's not personal. It's just like...operational security."
"What's operational security?" said the bard. "Never learned nothing like that from Talos."
"It just means, I don't know you, so no matter what you say, I can't trust you. No offense."
"Guess you must be important then, eh?" This seemed to perk her up immediately. "You like, royalty?"
Osk had come across girls like her before. Rural kinds. They took on the very disposition of their crop. Hers would have been radishes. She seemed nice.
"Not really," said Osk.
"You ain't here with the Imperial Legion, are you?"
"No," said Osk. The bard recoiled. Perhaps she'd said it more forcefully than she meant. "Sorry. Just, no."
"You a Stormcloak then?"
Osk didn't answer.
"I said, are you a Stormcloak then?" said the bard, louder. She seemed to think that Osk couldn't hear properly. She glanced around, like it was a secret. But there weren't too many others at the inn that night. Some old man orc, down in the cellar. Liked her music. The innkeeper himself had dozed off behind the counter, and there were just a handful of off-duty guards from Dawnstar, piss drunk, trading bad jokes on the other side of the room. "If you are a Stormcloak," the bard continued, "that would make sense, being in the Pale and all, so close to Eastmarch. You look real tired, ma'am. You look real beat."
They both heard a loud noise then and looked toward the door. A big man had entered, bringing with him the cold, purple bite of the twilight air. Everybody got quiet, including the drunken guards. One of them dropped his flagon, and it spilled all over the floor.
The man in the doorway shook the snow out of his enormous, expensive furs. It was Ulfric Stormcloak. He wore a heavy fur cap, the face carved right off a bear.
"By Talos," said the Bard.
Osk looked away and closed her eyes against the heat from the fire. She was embarrassed. She squeezed her hands tightly into fists as a habit. She took off her heavy leather gloves, which she had not even realized she was still wearing, until now. She didn't know what to do, or how he'd managed to track her. She had been very careful.
"Osk," he said. The relief, how he regarded her. It was confusing, like the loud clanking of his chainmail against the quiet crackling of the fire. "Osk. Thank Talos."
The whole room was staring at her, including the bard. She looked at Osk with huge eyes. She’d guessed royalty. She could not have guessed this. In any case, she got up right away to ask him if he needed something, what he would like to drink. He ordered a mead and one whole apple pie with a kindly voice that Osk had rarely heard him use with his own servants, in his Palace of the Kings.
He came and sat in the rocking chair where the sweet bard and her radish disposition had been sitting just moments before. It was strange to consider him in a rocking chair. Seemed a place for a grandmother, or a curious bard. And yet, he came to possess it. He leaned forward, with his elbows on his knees. He said it again, more forcefully now: "Osk."
It was almost pathetic, she thought. The way he spoke to her. So she looked at him. His pale hair was matted down where his hat had been. He had the saddest eyes of any man she'd ever met, frozen solid with grief. "Hello, Ulfric," she said. "How did you find me?"
"Your horse is very recognizable," said Ulfric. "Bred by the Black-Briars. You should sully her coat if you'd like to remain hidden, Osk. Especially in the Pale."
"How do you know the Black-Briars?"
He smiled.
Osk finished her mead. It made her feel dizzy. His smell and presence were all-encompassing, and they filled up the whole room, all around her. He had this habit in the mornings, of dabbing his wrists with this kind of apple essence, made for him by an alchemist in Solstheim. It smelled of bark, and tart juices. Apples were a relic from her childhood, where she had lived, hidden with her mother on a botanical berry farm near the Gold Coast of eastern Cyrodill. He liked apples. It was one of the first things they'd shared.
"You shouldn't be seen in the Pale," she said.
"Neither should you."
"Why are you here?"
"You said not to follow," said Ulfric, removing his gloves, as he intended to stay a while. The bard stood by with his mead and his apple pie, set it down on the table between them. Ulfric thanked her and picked up his fork and knife.
"So why didn't you listen?" said Osk.
"I never listen," he said, tucking in. “I assumed you’d know this by now, Dragonborn.”
