plotline: i suppose i will help
[no tws] [hari and a certain other character finally meeting in canon. enjoy :3 ]
6 PM. Hari was only walking through his usual clearing, from the pond back to where he stayed. He held Locket in his arms, content after hours of swimming.
So he was surprised when the froakie jumped out of his arms, going to an upper tree branch. He sighed as Locket bounced off, Hari following suit.
..
How long had she been here for? Maxie had finally found Jelly. That little rascal ditto. But now, where exactly was she? It wasn't familiar- and it certainly was far from Driftveil city.
She shrugged it off. Oh well, she had what was important to her. If she kept walking in one direction, she'd get out eventually.
Since it was winter, it got cold, and dark, fast. Cas, Maxie's morelull offered to light the way. Maxie sighed, worrying he would get cold, but let him stay on her head, if not just for a little.
She stopped when Cas' light suddenly got darker. Was he tired?
She picked him up- no, he had just turned around and got distracted. She noticed Cas staring at something. Maxie too, looked behind her.
She saw nothing, but heard something in the trees. She looked up.
Jelly squirmed and made some sort of a distressed noise right before someone came crashing into her.
Maxie quickly got up. Someone else here?
.
Hari shook his head, and got to his knees. He was looking straight up, not really looking in front of him. Oops.
But.. that was not a tree.
He dusted himself off, Locket jumping right down on top of him. He saw a girl, already off the dirt, cooing at her shaken up ditto she held in her arms.
..Another person? Here?
"I- oh arc. I apologize. I wasn't looking where I was..-" He began, only to be interrupted by a series of 'no's.
"Please, don't worry about it! I wasn't looking where I was going either. And I don't think either of us were expecting another person here, hah."
He sighed, catching his breath for a moment.
"Your froakie is adorable, by the way. Are you from Kalos?"
Hari breathed out a laugh. "No. I was born in Unova. I found this lil' guy as an egg in my room. Dunno where it came from, but I kept him, and here we are."
She smiled. "My name's Maxie."
He smiled back. "Hari."
Maxie brought Cas down from her head- who was still somewhat clinging on her hair after the fall. She chuckled, combed her hair back with her hand, and looked back up at Hari.
"You uh. You come here often?" she asked awkwardly, averting her eyes down to Cas and Jelly.
He chuckles. "Surprisingly enough, I do. I only really ever stay in the forest."
"Really? So that's why I haven't seen you! I am... not as familiar, ahah.."
Hari paused. "Are you lost?"
Maxie slowly nodded.
He scoffed a chuckle. "Where you headed home to?"
"Driftveil."
"Isn't that a port city?" He began to walk in what he knew was east towards a near city. "This is pretty far inland."
Maxie shrugged. "I walk around the region a lot."
"You walk?"
Maxie giggled at Hari's expression. "I walk fast,"
"Doesn't look it."
"Not on mountain terrain," she said, crossing her arms. Hari hadn't even noticed that both Jelly and Cas were resting ontop of her head.
"What's so funny?"
Hari blinked. Oh. He hadn't meant to laugh.
"Nothing. I just.. didn't think they'd just sit up there," He says, still giggling somewhat despite himself.
"Ah! That's their throne, of course," She laughs out, "Sometimes all three will sit on there."
"Three?"
"I have a sobble, Miiko. She'd be cold if she went out now, though."
Hari shrugged. Maxie slowed, walking more shoulder to shoulder rather than simply in front of him. She snorted.
"I suppose i'm not the only one who's a throne around here."
Hari sighed, and shook his head slightly. Sure enough, Locket hopped down into Hari's arms.
"I forget he does that sometimes," He laughs.
Maxie smiles, and Jelly slides down into her coat pocket. Cas jumps down to her shoulder. Nestling in her neck. She sighs happily, and returns them to their pokeball.
"Are you cold too?" He muses.
"Nah. I run hot. Most of everyone else I know doesn't."
"Hah. Opposite for me." The exact opposite, he thinks.
"You're cold?"
...
A pause.
"You are, aren't you? Can I get you-"
"Please, don't worry about it," he says, unknowingly mimicking Maxie's own words from when they ran into the other. " 'm always cold, anyways."
Maxie chews the inside of her cheek.
"May I?"
She holds a hand out.
Hari slowly nods as she takes it.
..
"If my hand's too cold, you can let go, y'know."
"Nah. I don't mind."
"...Why?"
"I don't mind whatever your hand may be. Hell, I hold Jelly's hand, and they're just goo. Doesn't matter how cold you are. I just thought your hand needed holding."
".."
"Did that sound weird? Yeah. Yeah that sounded kinda weird. Sorry. You can let go if you want to. I really hope you're not adverse to touch, like my brother is. I keep forgetting sometimes, but I'm getting better. Am I rambling? Could you stop me if this gets annoying?"
He squeezes her hand.
"Do you plan on coming back to this forest?"
She blinks. "What?"
"...If you had a reason to come back. Would you?"
"I don't need reason to do anything, frankly."
He smiles. "But.. would you? Would you come back?"
"Probably. But hopefully it's not because Jelly gets lost again," She chuckles.
"Hopefully," He chuckles.
"I think I'd rather come back for you."
...
The door to her house clicked shut. Maxie's siblings- a brother and sister, ran up to her.
"Do you have Grape??"
The sister nudged the brother. "Full name is 'Grape Jelly.' But the last name goes first, like in Kanto."
"You only learned that from anime," The boy huffed.
Maxie laughed softly. "Alright, you two, alright. Yes, our friend Grape Jelly is a-okay! Sorry it took me a while. I got lost."
The younger girl crossed her arms. "I'm gonna give Jelly a talking to!"
Maxie laughed. "No, I think Jelly's had enough for one night," She sighs, "And besides. I have Jelly to thank for a new friend."
...
As he walked back to his house- it was 7PM by now. It would have been shorter, but apparently you walk slower while you talk.
Locket had long since fallen asleep on the way back.
..What felt so nostalgic?
..
Didn't matter.
He didn't think it would happen, but he finally found someone- in person, mind you- someone who wasn't... freaked out. Who, for starters, didn't even question why he lived in the creepy woods, or why their hands were as cold as ice- non metaphorically.
He'd found a ray of sunshine. And Arc, had he needed one.
...
..
.
What was he thinking of? What was this reminding him of?
..Wait...
“…why… why did you do that?”
“hm?”
“why are you… hugging me. you don’t know me.”
“I don’t,” she sighed into his shoulder, “but i don’t need to know you to understand.”
“…”
“I can only guess why you’re here, but all i know is that we both need someone right now.”
“……”
“..”
the girl felt the pale boy shake. “th…. thank you.”
she hugged him tighter.

2017 Ducktales as pokemon trainers an their Teams
Tumblr media
Here’s the next, are currently final, Disney cartoon on my list for makings characters into pokemon trainers. After this I will move over to doing other shows on Cartoon network. I did not get into this show when it was airing, and that was my bad. Once I did watch it it quickly became on of my favorites, and inspired me to look up older cartoons surrounding Donald, and his family as well. Its a good show an seems to be (rightly) held up as one of the best done reboots. Hopefully it still has some fans going back to its fan base, who will check this out.
I am going to do this list a bit differently than my other though. In previous lists I have either given all the characters full teams of 6, or given main characters teams of 6 and secondary characters teams of 3-4 pokemon. For 2017 Ducktales though, since it has such a large cast and they all always go on adventures in groups, I am not giving anyone 6 pokemon. Because then there would really be to many characters to fit in the plane, much less the show. Considering the group sizes I have decided to give the child characters 2 pokemon each, adult members of the duck family (by both blood and heart) get three each. This way the three triplets, or Webby, and her friends would all have six in total. Same with Duo’s like Donald and Della, or Scrooge and Beakley. I am also only giving villain or antagonist characters two, because that’s about the mass number villains ever had at one time in the show.
Adults are on this list. Kids are on my previous list
Scrooge and  Beakley
Tumblr media
Scrooge Mcduck
Scrooge’s thing is that he is“Smarter than the smarties, tougher than the toughies, and sharper than the sharpies”. So I picked out three pokemon for him based on those traits
Slowking: Scrooges “Smartier than the smarties” pokemon
Charizard: Scrooges “Tougher than the toughies” pokemon. Yes, of course Scrooge is able to mega evolve his charizard. He is Scrooge McDuck
Mightyena: Scrooges “Sharper than the sharpies” pokemon
Even with limiting the characters to to a maximum of three pokemon each, this is still a more Op team than I usually try to give. But it’s Scrooge Mcduck’s team, and his character is designed to be an OP mentor to the next generations of adventures.
Bentina Beakley
Greninja: Well she is not just Bentina Beakley. She is also Agent 22. Greninja is a pokemon that Agent 22 caught (as a froakie) and trained to assist her in her spy days. It still assists herto this day, in keeping the manor, and its inhabitants safe
Nidorina: So one notable change in the 2017 ducktales depiction of Mrs.Beakley is her physical appearance. She went from being a soft and round women to a more muscled and fit women. This change makes sense when you take into count the changes to her backstory, and that she has lived a more physically demanding life. Well anyway because she is such a muscular and fit women I decided to give her a muscular and fit female pokemon. Why did I give her a Nidorina, instead of its evolved form Nidoqueen?  Because I wanted it to  still have the potential o evolve in a battle, while helping Beakley protect the kids.
Minccino: In both the 2017 version, and in the original one Mrs.Beakley is Scrooges house keeper. It’s a big manor, and I thought she could use a pokemon that would give her a hand with all the wok. I googled what the cleanliest pokemon was and got Minccino. Honestly the idea of this big, strict, and sophisticated, women having a cute, little, chinchilla pocket pet is just to good to pass up.
Donald and Della Duck
Tumblr media
Donald Duck
Dewgone: Because he is a sailor and a former Navy seal.
Psyduck: Because as a tough, pretty unlucky duck, that is constantly dealing with headaches, and has a bad side you do NOT want to be on, Psyduck is basically a pokemon version of Donald.
Minun: This one is a tie to and representative of his bond with Della. Because of that I might swap Minun out for another pokemon if I ever do Donald in a different usiverse, where he lives with either the other two Caballeros or Micky. In this Universe Della has a Plusle and the twins siblings caught them together, back when they first started adventuring with Scrooge.
Della Duck
Skarmory: She is a pilot so she needs a champion flying type. The size and fiercness of a skarmory makes it a pokemon that would suit Della very well.
Plusle: The sibling to Donald’s minun, and representative of Donald and Della’s bond as siblings
Klefairy: Picked because of Della’s goals and association with the Moon. I think she had it before going into space (if she caught it on the moon couldn’t it have just taken her to the moonlanders) and it helped her try to rebuild her rocket to get back home.
Launchpad and Darkwing Duck
Tumblr media
Launchpad McQuack
Flygon: He is a pilot so, like Della and Dewey, I am giving him flying pokemon. But they both have birds, and I wanted to give Launchpad something different to help distinguish himself a bit, while still making sure it was big enough for him and others to ride on. This led me to flygon.
Gligar: a cute, clumsy, silly, little bat-scorpion pokemon. A prefect buddy, secondary flying pokemon for launchpad. Also I headcannon that in the original dakwing duck cartoons D.D. has a gliscor, and that inspired L.p. to catch a gligar
Mantyke: While going through the list of flying type pokemon it occurred to that some of Luanchpad’s crashes happen over water, and he probably gets suck in the ocean a fair bit. So it would come in handy for him to have a pokemon that could help him swim to shore,
Drake Mallard a.k.a Darkwing Duck
Growlith: To highlight that he is a brave, little guy, who guards others.
Koffing: It can do smoke screens, and Dawrkwing uses smoke screens all the times to appear and disappear
Drifblim: So I said on my kids form that I tried to do bat pokemon for all three of the dark wing trio. But that I could not make any of them work for Gosalyn or Drake. So I changed the linker to just being nocturnal pokemon. Launchpad has Gligar, Gosalyn has Rowlet, and I think Driftblim is a really good fit for  Drake/Darkwing. It can help him swoop around around the town to “watch over it”. It’s big enough to carry him and his companions. It does not have control of where it goes, but that works to since this team is largely klutzes with Drake/Darkwing being the biggest klutz of all.
Gyro and Fenton
Tumblr media
Gyro Gearloose
The way I see it Gyro would be an electric type trainer
Magnamite: A cute little magnet pokemon. Represents when Gyro’s inventions (such a little bulb) are small, and helpful, and not evil and trying to destroy everybody.
Zebrashtrike: For Manny, since Gyro is the one who employed him and made him a part of the Duck/Mcduck’s family.
Electivire: A big electric monster. Represents when Gyro’s little, helpful, non evil inventions turn big, and angry, and dangerous.
Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera
Fenton I believe would be a steal type trainer
Registered: The most similar a pokemon I could find to his Gizmoduck suit. It would be a partner to him when he is out doing hero patrols.
Bronzo: Because both Fenton and Gizmoduck care about defending people in need. This pokemon would be shared among both personas. It’s not like Fenton’s “secret identity” is really an actual secret after all.
Togedenru: This one is just Fenton’s, not Gizmoduck’s. I picked it because it’s an electric and steal type. Gyro is the person Fenton admires most (I persoanlly do not ship them as a couple, but I am also not opposed to them being one) so I could see him wanting a pokemon that’s half his type and half Gyros. Its also pudgy, fluffy, and cute. So maybe its Fentons emotional support pokemon for when his life gets to stressful (Because you know it would).
Daisy  Duck
Tumblr media
Daisy is a fashion designer in this  universe, so I picked pokemon that had very elegant and fashionable appearances: Milotic and beautifly.
For her third pokemon I picked a ducklett. It’s still a very elegant white/blue pokemon. It being another water pokemon goes well with the life the season 3 finale sets up for her and Donald to have together. Maybe it and  Donald’s Psyduck could become friends.
Gandra Dee
Tumblr media
Looks like she will primarily be a ground type trainer
Claydol: Some of its battle moves are similar to ones Gandra uses.
Ditto: Her goal is to push the boundaries of science. Given that Ditto can turn into pokemon, people, and inanimate objects, it is a pokemon where it and its tainer can certainly work to push the boundaries of its transformative abilities
Drilbur: She caught it sometime after she and Fenton started dating and she became a mole inside F.O.W.L.
Penumbra
Tumblr media
Honestly at first I was not going to even put Penumbra. Not because I do not think she is cool (she is), but because a big part of her character is that she is from the moon. So she would have to have lunar/space pokemon, and there are only a few of those, much less ones that would suit her.
Deoxys: I finally remembered this one. While not a fighting type, Deoxys is a super tough warrior from outer space, and a very loyal friend (see the pokemon movie Destiny Deoxys, and everything it goes through to rescue its friend). This is perfect for Penumdra, as I cannot see her just standing at one end of a battle field calling out attacks. She would want a pokemon that she could fight hand and hand along side with
Starmie; She already has a deoxys, and that could have been enough if I did not find anything else... But I rewatched some of the first season; saw Starmies spin attack, it come in like 3rd place in a race while carrying Misty, and it fly out to confront a giant, angry, tenticruel. I also read on wiki that it can flash its core a rainbow of colors (ooh reference to Penny being Lesbian). So I would say it and Penumdra would be pretty cool too.
Chespin: Deoxys and Starmie are the two pokemon she had in space/on the Moon. When she decides to live on planet Earth instead though she catches an Earth starter. Starmie is already a water type, and I personally feel like she would chose grass over fire types. I looked at all all the grass types and selected Chespin due to its move pool and evolution's.
Goldie O’Gilt
Tumblr media
Goldie has 2 pokemon. She has a Persian and a Liepard. 2 strong, stealthy, theiving, cats  to help Goldie track down treasure and scare away anyone who does not think Goldie should be taking it with her.
Villians
Tumblr media
GlomGold: 2 sharpedo’s. Because he loved Sharks so much, he states a few times that his personal sharks are basically the closest thing to a real family (as apposed to the employs he hires, doops, uses, then Betrays) that he has.
Magica De Spell: She is a ghost type trainer and has a Misdreavus and a Mismagius. Beautiful, loud, terrifying, nocturnal, tricksters.
Ma Beagle: She has a Snubble and a Grubble of course. Basically the pokemon versions of her “boys”
Mark Beaks: He has a pikachu and a Raiachu. Like everything else in his life he acquired them because the public thought they were “cute” and “meme worthy”. So he got a pair to be his mascots.
I am leaving Lunaris and Bradford off this list. Lunaris because simply put I am out of space pokemon. Bradford because given how he hated adventure as much as he did, I feel like he would probably also hate pokemon, and pokemon training.
Storkules and Selene
I like them a lot and want to have them on this list. I will give them one Pokemon each. Storkules has a Regigigas and Selene has a Lunatone. Zeus does not get any pokemon. Zeus is not mature enough to be a trainer

NSFW Sycamore. Cockwarming/breeding/being bent over a table/“come sit on my lap, love” if any of the above can be included would be awesome.
Back with some of the fun kinks of the world! Let's gooooo!

Warning: This is NSFW so if you’re under the legal age or uncomfortable with content like this, please skip over this one!
Sycamore: Office Rendezvous
You were being a little shit. You knew this. He knew this. Anyone who knew your relationship would know this as soon as they spotted it. Yet you weren't about to back down on your current stance. He started this, after all. When you walked into his office he had calmly patted down his own lap, beaconing you to 'Come take a seat, love." in that lovely kalos accent of his.
Now Sycamore's hands were on you, holding you in place so you'd stop squirming while he kept a level voice, speaking on the phone. You had his cock buried to the hilt inside of you, wanting his attention desperately, but the bastard had a phone call to make. Your original plan of riding him to oblivion right next to his pretty clear and semi-reflective desk had got cut short.
He leaned back in his office chair, the creaking disguising the sound of your whimpering every so slightly. You looked up at him with pleading eyes, wanting to move already, but he was stronger than he looked as he held you in place.
You had no idea when the phone call would even be done. He was discussing things that flew right over your head and made no sense. It was almost like he was speaking a different language when he was on these calls.
No amount of pouting or batting your eyelashes at him was going to change his stance. He had a reputation to uphold, and fucking his partner in the middle of an important business call was not it. His grip loosened a bit as he caressed your bare thighs, trying to sooth you but it was doing the exact opposite.
"So the sanctuary is still und-" Sycamore cut himself off by biting his cheek and glaring at you. You contracted your muscles right as he started speaking, causing an instant rush of pleasure to course through him. He put one of his hands up to his mouth and coughed into it, "My apologies, a froakie was in my throat." His voice came out as jovial and made you pout.
With one less hand on you, you decided to shift a bit as the other person began talking again. Sycamore bit down on his lip, trying not to make any sounds but damn was it hard with you right on his cock, wearing one of his purple button up shirts that had more than half the buttons down, giving him a good view of your skin. You had come in with some shorts on that were now discarded next to the desk.
Then you heard it; Sycamore giving his goodbyes to the people on the other side of the line. You perked up excitedly that they were finally finished. As soon as he clicked his phone off you giggled, "About time you fi-AH!"
Sycamore had lifted you off him and twisted you around, pressing you against his clean desk. He pushed off a few pieces of paper and leaned over, growling into your ear.
"Did you think this was funny?" He asked, spreading your legs apart and you swallowed the lump in your throat, suddenly feeling a bit nervous.
"I-I mean..." You murmured into the desk. Your arms were crossed, giving you a bit of a cushion for your head and you wiggled your ass, "Kinda..." that got you a harsh smack on the ass that echoed in his empty lab.
"What would you have done if we got caught?" He hummed, wanting an honest answer from you.
"U-uuuuuuuuh..." You couldn't think of a single excuse you could've come up with. Honestly getting caught was never a worry for you. Sycamore was a professional and could handle your teasing.
"We're not out of the woods just yet, love. You didn't lock the door, did you?" He whispered into your ear and your eyes widened. You looked directly across from the desk as the large door with a window on it. You bit your lip, blushing. The window was thankfully a one way, so nobody could see in but you two could see out.
It was later in the evening, but Sycamore's office was rarely vacant. Other professors under him would stay late with their studies often, and you could see one of them walking past his door right now as he spoke.
"Now you need to keep it down so nobody comes in and sees what's going on, understood?" He said and you nodded meekly. You felt his cock breeching your entrance again as he slid right inside. You held back the gasp of excitement as you felt him hilt, "I want you to take it all, do I make myself clear. Every. Last. Drop." He said between thrusts.
You were biting down on your own arm, trying to muffle the noises of pleasure you were making. The skin on skin slapping was echoing and you prayed to whatever deity was out there that it didn't top anyone off outside of his office.
You could feel your ass jiggle with every harsh, languid thrust into you. You could feel tears prickling your eyes when his hand crept between your legs and began playing with your sex. You audibly gasped out when you saw another assistant walking past the door.
Sycamore stilled his movements, waiting for a moment. The assistant looked around, probably wondering where the source of the noise was, before giving up and leaving.
"That was close." Sycamore's voice was anything but worried as he began his pace again. Your legs were shaking as you finally fell apart, biting so hard you almost drew blood on your own arm.
Sycamore grunted lowly and you felt his warm seed pumping into you, coating your walls. You clenched at the thought of it, panting heavily as you tried to regain your senses. After a few moments, Sycamore slipped out of you and seemed to fumble around his desk drawer.
You looked over your shoulder, wondering what he was doing until you noticed he held a plug in his hand. He slipped it between you, plugging you up so his cum wouldn't leak out and he leaned in to give you a kiss. You giggled, slowly standing back up and he place his hands on your waist.
"No doing that again, understood?" He murmured into your ear and you chuckled.
"No guarantees; if you fuck me that good when I'm being a brat I should do it more often." You teased him as he tossed you your pants and you began sliding them on.
"What am I going to do with you?"

calamity gray sneak-peak!
since i won't be able to work on my pokemon au for a little while (and it's been a few weeks since i've uploaded a chapter) but i don't have enough for a full chapter quite yet, instead enjoy a sneak peak for chapter 5 of calamity gray! <3
summoning the eevee simps: @arcadiii, @cl-oudyca-kes, @coconurt, @goodartitude, @karamelys, @peachpaws0
[if you want to be added/ removed from the tag list, just let me know!!]
“What do you think is gonna hatch from it?”
Anne paused for a moment before lowering her magazine to watch as Sprig curiously poked at the green-and-white mystery egg, Bandit harshly slapping his hand away.
“I dunno,” Anne shrugged, returning to her magazine.
“Do you think it’ll be something rare?” Sprig asked.
“Maybe it’ll be another Froakie, like Bandit?” Anne suggested.
“Maybe...” Sprig murmured. “Or maybe it’ll be something even cooler!”
“Kie.”
“Er, no offense, Bandit,” Sprig laughed. Then, sighing, “But I guess that’ll just be another Pokemon for you either way, huh, Anne?”
“I guess so.” Anne’s eyes skimmed over a page of her magazine titled “11 Tips to Know if He Likes You.” Anne wasn’t sure why she felt a wave of relief upon realizing that she couldn’t think of any boys who fit the behavior listed in the tips – wasn’t that something that was supposed to make her upset, not relieved? “But I’m new at this whole trainer thing, and I sort of already have my hands full with Bandit – I’m not sure if I could take another Pokemon right now.”
Sprig gaped.
“Wait,” he began, “So, you don’t think you’re gonna keep...?”
“Well, it’s not that I don’t want to.” Anne finally put her magazine down. “But all of this is so new to me, y’know? The world, the creatures...” Anne sighed before pulling out her polaroid, staring at it longingly for a moment before slipping it back into her pocket. “It’s all just a lot.”
“So, what you’re saying is,” Sprig continued, “You need someone to take this egg with a maybe rare, possibly never-before-seen Pokemon in it off your hands for you?”
“Yep, that sounds about right.” Anne paused. “I’m not sure who, though. Maybe I’ll ask HopPop-”
“I’ll do it!” Sprig yelped. “I’ll take care of the maybe rare, possibly never-before-seen Pokemon egg for you!”
“Uh...” Anne swallowed. “Sprig, are you sure? You can be a bit...” Anne grimaced, “... distractible.”
“What?” Sprig blinked. “I mean, yeah, of course! I can totally handle this.”
Bandit glared at Anne, his expression reading don’t you dare.
“Yeah, sure,” Anne shrugged. “Just be careful, dude.”
“Heck, yeah!” Sprig cheered, pumping a fist in the air. “I got a super awesome Pokemon egg – no take-backs!”
Scooping up the Pokemon egg from where it laid in the basement – Anne’s makeshift room ever since moving in with the Plantars – Sprig bounced up the stairs, ready to swing open the trapdoor with wild abandon.
“What’re you guys doing down there?” Polly asked, opening the trapdoor right before Sprig could reach it. “And – wait, where are you going with that egg?”
“Anne gave it to me,” Sprig bragged, sticking out his tongue at his sister as he shouldered past her.
“What? That’s not fair!” Polly protested, reaching for the egg. “How come I don’t get an egg?”
“Because I’m older,” Sprig sang, tugging the egg away from her.
“So, what?” Polly demanded, yanking the egg back. “I’m more mature than you are!”
“Are not!”
“Am too!”
“Are not!”
“Am too!”
“Hey, guys-” Anne flinched as the two Plantar children fought over the egg, “- maybe you shouldn’t-”
“Are not!” Sprig ripped the egg from Polly’s hands.
“Am too!” Polly grabbed the egg again, both Plantar children trying to pull the egg away from the other the hard as they could.
Anne’s heart sank as the egg left both of their hands, dropping dangerously to the ground.
Sprig and Polly both froze as Bandit leapt forward, saving the egg right before it hit the ground.

Submas fic: Far from home [1/5]
[Ever since she was little Carol always wanted to be a Pokémon trainer, just like her brothers! however due to her poor health she's always been sheltered and protected from the world, so when she finally got a clean bill of health and the okay to travel, Carol was ecstatic! But then she started started to feel a little overshadowed by her brother's reputations, Carol often found herself being compared to Ingo and Emmet. She felt like people were expecting her to live up to their standards, But she didn't want that! and she certainly didn't want people to think that the gym leaders were going easy on her, just because she was the Subway duo's sickly little sister! So she took off to Kalos where no one knew about her brothers, however things started going wrong as soon as she arrived, first she lost her phone died, then she got chased by some wild combees and now Carol was lost in the woods with a map she can't read, luckily for her someone finds hers before night fall...]
================================
meet the cast/setting:
This takes place when the twins are 24
Featuring my OCs
Winona 'Winnie' Trevithick {Ingo and Emmet's mother.] She's married to Drayden in this he took her last name as he doesn't have a good relation ship with his parents, they were against his marriage to Winona as she was from a lower class family, Drayden married her anyway and took his wife's name as a final "screw you" to his toxic family.
Carol 'Carrie' Trevithick Age 12 {The twins younger sister, she was a surprise baby; born when Emmet and Ingo were 12, The looks on their faces when they came home to that was hilarious.] She just started her Pokémon journey, But she doesn't wanna start in Unova as she felt that people were expecting her to be some kind of battle master like her brothers, so with her Mom's permission, Carol travels to Kalos to take on their Gyms league, without saying anything to her brothers, because she knew they'd freak and try and talk her out of it or follow her.
They've always been very over protective of her and for good reason Carol used to get sick a lot when she was younger and rarely left the house, But when she reach her tween she got heathy enough to travel, She hopes that she'll be able learn a lot on this journey.
Pokémon on hand: Froakie. Chari {Charmander]
Harper Doran: age 23 She was childhood friend of the Twins (and Ingo's crush) until one day they just stopped talking to her and acted coldly to her, at some point Harper moved away and began traveling the world, Currently she's in Kalos helping professor Sycamore with his Pokédex research, when she meets Carol with no Pokémon; wandering around like a lost deerling! feeling sorry for the girl Harper takes her under her wing and travels with Carol during her journey not realizing she's Ingo and Emmet's kid sister, until later.
Pokémon on hand: Inteleon, Houndoom, Tyrantrum, Klefki, Aegislash, Reuniclus. [others in storage]
===============================================================
"I knew I should've learned French before coming here!" Carol hissed as she stared down at the town map clutched tightly in her hands. "Of course this would happen to me..., barely two days in and I'm already lost!" the tween hissed as she tried to read and pronounce the French directions failing miserably, as she tried find... It says she supposed to be near Aquacorde Town but... all Carol could see was dense forest, and it was starting to get dark!
"Hey.. You lost?" Carol yelped when a woman's voice came from behind her and the little girl whirled around to face the culprit and was greeted by an average height woman dressed in... Well rags would probably be the word Carol would use, her pink faux leather jacket was faded and worn, covered in dirt and tears, the helm of her gray shirt to was shredded to the point where it resembled a crop-top which she wore over a black tank-top, even her shorts weren’t spared. it was apparent they used to be pants before being cut into shorts which she wore navy blue tights under with a bright yellow patch sewn to the right knee.
Carol won't lie, Home girl totally looked she lives under an overpass! the woman's teal eyes stared at Carol perplexed before lifting a gloved hand up and waving it in the girl's still gawking face. "Hello?...Bonjour? Hola amiga? Is someone in there?" the woman called in several languages snapping Carol out her daze, and the young girl awkwardly showed the stranger her map, the woman frowned as she looked at it for a few moments and said "Follow me." while gesturing towards a heavily bushy area, the ash haired girl hesitated before the sound of a Pokémon howling in the distance caused her to jump and sprinted after her scruffy savior.
While they were walking Carol examined the woman further, she was actually pretty not Elesa's level of pretty but, still this looked she could be a model, Her black hair was tied back in a messy ponytail, hidden under a worn brown hat which Carol could see the hat had Gym badges pin to it.
This sort of disillusion Carol's view on how Pokémon trainers should look, Then again her only experience with Pokémon trainers were from TV and stories her brothers would tell her whenever they came home to visit, Carol felt a pang of guilt in her heart as she thought about how upset her brothers will be when they find out she's gone, as if sensing the girl's sour mood her impromptu guide spoke up.
"Are you traveling alone?"
"Huh? Um...Y-yeah, I'm from Unova"
"Small world, me too! What kind of Pokémon ya got?"
"Um...Actually I don't have Pokémon."
The woman stopped suddenly and looked down at Carol who walked into her back, like she grew three heads. "You mean to tell me... You traveled by yourself, to an unknown region, With. No. Pokémon?" The woman loomed over her menacingly as Carol shrank back nervously and nodded. "Are you insane, or just got a death wish?" The two stared at each other, before the woman let out a frustrated grumble. "I'm probably gonna get trouble for this but..." The woman sucked her teeth the took the rucksack off her back and crouched down.
Carol watched perplexed as she opened the rucksack, revealing three Pokéballs. "Pick one..." she huffed Carol blinked not really understanding what was going on, why was this woman just giving her Pokémon away? "Hurry, before I change my mind." Carol carefully examined the balls and grabbed the ball in the center with the water type symbol on it, and the woman hummed closed her bag. "Froakie, eh? Good luck with that one, he's rowdy." Carol blinked as the woman was about to put her bag back on her shoulders, then took out a Rotom-phone and texted someone.
Carol looked down at the Pokéball with look of disbelief, her first Pokémon...*what do they look like? how do I open this thing??" The woman looked up from the phone and watch Carol fumble with the ball, before calmly reaching out and tapping the button in the center, Carol jumped when a white flash nearly blinded her as small form appear at her feet. "Froakie..." a little blue frog chirped as it eyed the little girl curiously, before suddenly spraying water in her face.
Carol heard the woman snort and whip her head to glare at her but the scruffy woman had good poker face as she stared blankly at her phone, seconds later the woman frowned and pointed behind Carol. "Right... I have to go, just keep going straight down here. until you hit a wall, follow the wall and you'll be in Aquacorde Town, Ciao!" Carol jumped to her feet in a panic. "Hey wait what's your-" The woman was already gone.
Carol looked in the direction the woman walked in, then in the direction she pointed at and finally down at Froakie who looked indifferent about the situation. "Well, Let's go to Aquacorde Town, yeah?" she held her hand out to him, but Froakie huffed and hopped away. "Hey wait!" Carol called after him and gave chase.
Meanwhile in Unova.
"We should stop by Anville and give mom and Carrie a visit, It been a verrry long time!" Emmet suggest out of the blue as he and Ingo walked to the station, Ingo silently sipped his coffee as thought it over, it's true they haven't been home in a while. That, and They heard through the grape vine that Carol's health has improved greatly in last the last two years.
She's even talking about wanting to go on her own Pokémon journey... If their Mom's alright with it, Maybe they could take their sister back to Nimbasa city for a while and teach her a few pointers before setting her loose on the world. "I suppose we could, hopefully mom doesn't mind if we just pop in on her." Ingo said as he made a mental note to call his mom and tell her they were coming over next time they've stopped over in Anville.
Meanwhile Winona was just ending a phone call with Carol, she made it to Aquacorde Town safely, the ash haired woman mentally thank Arceus that Carol ran into that stranger who gave her Froakie, She and Carol were just so excited with packing and talking about Kalos, that Winona later realized she'd completely forgot how to teach her daughter how to use Pokéballs and catch Pokémon! A frown formed on Winona's face as she thought about the woman's description her daughter gave her, there was something familiar about her, but the Trevithick matriarch couldn't quite place where....
Then she remembered a girl, not Elesa, this was little before they met the model, there was girl who used to come around the house and play with her boys, but that was long time ago! No way it could be the same person! Winona was brought out of her thoughts by the washing machine going off and went to go get the laundry...

The rising sun's pink colour threw a rosy tinge throughout the morning sky. The early-morning sun shone softly on the fresh early morning dew, the flush of morning peeked through a window, where a sleeping figure rested in the periwinkle sheets. As the quiet morning dawned a new day,  two small creatures ran up the stairs with excitement, one was a small blue amphibian and the other matched with the colour of the sheets, they immediately pounced on the sleeping figure with excitement in their eyes.
“Vulpix, Mudkip what are you doing?” the figure said, while rubbing her eyes to cast away the sleep she was rudely interrupted from her wonderful dream, she was having, “ I was having a good dream too.” She checked the clock and realised the time was 7:00 am, she had to head into town at 8:00am, realising she has to get up from her cosy warm bed, and head to the shower to start her day, and the disappointment of getting out of the shower. Upon getting out of the shower and walking over to my bed to find a fresh pair of clothes on my bed, with a message “Happy 19th Birthday Adronis” I smiled at the sweet gesture, I looked at the clothes, they were simple enough to be travelling in and durable enough for the seasons.  As I put my clothes on I headed over to my storage box and pulled out items I would need to get at least to Lumiose City which contained; Potions, revives, a first aid kit, some evolutionary stones that I had bought in Alola on Akala Island. I also saved some Poke-dollars throughout my years working at the shop down the road.
I took one final look at myself in the grand mirror I have hanging up, and grabbed my ivory bag and descended down the chocolate wooden stairs. I looked at the clock hanging on the wall at 7:40 am. Well shit I’m supposed to meet the others soon. I promised my best friend Shuana and her neighbour Calem to meet them at Aquacorde Town to receive our starter pokemon. Once I went downstairs I noticed my grandmother cooking breakfast, while my grandfather was at the dinner table waiting for grandma to finish. I put my bag down at the table and headed towards grandma, she handed me a piece of toast “make sure you come back, we got one final present to give to you.” I nodded and grabbed my bag, and patted Vulpix and Mudkip on the way out. “I'll be right back, I promise” they both whined in response. As I stepped up into the neighbourhood I notice Shauna and I presume to be Calem, walking through the gates into Aquacorde Town where I live, over through the bridge I notice two more people coming over caring a bag, one was short with a orange with a camera hanging around his neck, he seems to be the one carrying the bag, while the other one is skipping across the bridge, much to the other one dismay.
“Hey Adronis!”  the girl with a pink t-shirt with three black bows across her torso, paired with denim shorts with black frill across the bottom, while the guy with the short dark chocolate hair stood behind her, his outfit consisted blue sports jacket, a red cap with black sunglasses and plain black jeans, across his side is his messenger bag which I presumed has his inventory inside. “Hey Shauna, is this your neighbour that you were talking about?” her neighbour gave me a small wave and smile and introduced himself as Calem “So have you decided on your starter yet?” he said. “Yes, have you decided on yours yet?” I said, before I could get a reply out of him the two trainers we saw crossing the bridge came up to and introduced themselves “hello my name is Trevour and this is Tierno and we are here to deliver your starter Pokemon.”
After the introductions Trevour and Tierno introduce us to the three starters that Professor Sycamore has gifted us; they were Froakie the water type, Chespin the grass type and lastly Fennekin the fire type. Shuana and Calem took a step back and allowed me to pick first, which I picked the fire type starter Fennekin.  When I opened the Poke-ball, a fox-like pokemon appeared in the blue light when it revealed a silver fennec fox.  Everyone gasped and took a step back when Fennekin appeared, “Wow! Adronis, you got an Alt. colour fennekin, that's super rare!” Both Shauna and Calem screamed at the top of their lungs, the Fennekin was startled and quickly hid behind my ivory bag.
Not only their screams scared Fennekin but it also attracted some passersby that were on the other side of the Cafe we were sitting at when one of the group members suddenly got up in surprise and was ready to rescue the Fennekin, the other members of the group apologised as he did this a lot and was force of habit. We apologised to the group and continued with our starter choices, Calem chose Froakie and Shauna chose Chespin, with the starter choices done, Trevour and Tierno gave us a letter to give us to our parents and a Pokedex. I decided to return Fennekin to its Pokeball and placed it on my clasping belt.
I was going to head back home to my grandparents as they were literally across the street, next to the shop, Shauna stopped me suddenly “Adronis wait up!” I stopped and turned towards Shauna who was excited. “ I know we just got our starter Pokemon, but you're gonna be my first opponent! And it will be my debut! ” she said.  My eyes widened in surprise “Are you sure?”  I said, the excitement from Shauna seemed to catch some people off guard including the passerby group, especially the sage green hair guy who looked over towards us with a scowl on his face. I could tell he was disappointed, but I didn’t care.
Shauna looked at me with anticipation, wanting to battle seemed to excite her. “Alright, I will,” I said, finally giving in. “ ALRIGHT!” she exclaimed and did a little twirl while grabbing her pokeball,
“GO CHESPIN” she did a second twirl while throwing the pokeball in the air and out came her starter Pokemon Chespin.
“Chespinnnnn '' the little green Pokemon gave out its battle cry, “Even though we are at disadvantage with Adronis’s Fennekin! But we can still pack a punch!” She exclaimed. I grabbed Fennekin Pokeball and tossed it in the air to reveal the silver fennec fox. It sparkled and let out its own battle cry while puffing out fire from its mouth.
“Let's do this Phasma!” I said, Fennekin looked back and seemed to approve of the nickname I gave to her, while releasing another puff of fire in confidence. “Fennikinnnn”
“That’s a wonderful nickname! But it's time to get serious, Adronis, Chespin, let's do this” Shauna exclaimed, Chespin is ready to battle, same as Phasma, I shook off my nerves and focused on my very first battle.
Phasma’s moveset is very small for now, she knows Ember, Scratch and Tail whip. Since it’s our first battle there is no need to be a complex strategy since we are only starting out. Shauna gave the first command to Chespin,
The battlefield was the town we were in still, the silence was almost too perfect.
“OK li’l Chespin it's our first battle, lets win this with style, USE TACKLE!” She gave the order. Chespin dug its heels into the ground and push it self with velocity towards Phasma,
“Phasma quickly dodge the tackle and then use ember on Chespin!”
Phasma obeyed and jumped over the Chespin narrowly missing her right leg, turned around and released a powerful ember on Chespin landing a critical hit on him. I was feeling the thrill of Pokemon battles that many trainers would have felt when battling with their partner Pokemon, so I looked over to Shauna with the same expression as I.
It was exciting and addicting.
“Now Phasma charge in and uses Scratch” I said, Phasma repeated what Chespin did and pushed it self with velocity, feeling the rush, Phasma was a bit more nimble then Chespin and managed to land 4 scratches before Chespin pushed it away and let out a little fennec fox yelp, her fur on her back was ruffled but it was fine
“You’re okay Phasma, let's keep up the pressure” I pumped a fist in the air to cheer Phasma on. I tried to remain cool as Fennekins tend to be temperamental, as stated by its Pokedex; Fennekin can be temperamental, but it tries to do its best for its Trainer. I could notice that Phasma was getting exhausted from this back and forth, its tail was swishing quite a lot and I decided right there and then to finish then.
“Chespinnnnnn”  I heard Chespin battle cry and I quickly snapped out of train thought, but it was too late, Phasma was hit twice by Chespin Vine Whip and landed on the ground in front of me, it cried in pain but quickly got up to let out a puff of fire in defiance. Thankfully grass types aren't strong against fire types; we would've had trouble if Shauna chose Froakie instead.
“Are you okay, Phasma you're not seriously hurt are you?” I let out in a worried tone, Phasma looked back at me tail swishing in happiness and turned back at Chespin with a growl “ We need to finish this Phasma, USE EMBER!” I gave out the final command, Phasma released a powerful ember onto Chespin, which caused Chespin to faint on the battlefield.

Santalune Showcase: Themed Performance
Sawyer watched as the two groups before her group went on. The questions seemed easy enough as long as you know the basics of pokemon training, which Sawyer didn’t. Not really. She studied since deciding to become a Performer, but there was just so much. She hoped the questions asked would be ones she could answer. As she watched one girl particularly distraught over losing, she amended that thought: That they were questions she knew, and that she wouldn’t choke when she got up there. She took a deep breath and got up from the bench she had been on. She straightened out her red graduation costume before calling out Allegra, the Popplio to accompany her. The rareness of her Pokemon would earn her some point in the Freestyle Performance…If she could just make it there.
She stepped onto the stage with the two other Performers of group 3. All three of them were wearing the same red graduation costume that the Performance Hall handed out to them for the Themed Performance. One end of the stage had three lecterns with small posts in front of them. Sawyer wound up standing behind the one closest to the center of the stage. Which was lucky for her, because Popplio isn’t fast on land, and this will give her a fighting chance. On the other side of the stage was three low platforms, each with a stack of rings on them. At the back of the stage, behind both the rings and the lecterns were oversized books and school supplies.
Monsieur Pierre, the MC of all official Pokemon Showcases was standing in the center announcing the three Performers: Aimee, Gracie, and Sawyer. Sawyer smiled and waved when she was introduced to the darkened crowd. Thankfully, she was told the rules ahead of time, because that crowd was all she could focus on while the MC did his recap of them. Basically, after each question the Performers’ Pokemon would race to grab one of the rings and bring them back to the posts in front of the lecterns. That would determine who got the chance to answer first. Sawyer focused back in when Monsieur Pierre addressed the Performers.
“First Question, ladies. Which of these is not an Evolution Stone: Water Stone, Fire Stone, Grass Stone, or Shiny Stone?”
As soon as he finished the question the Pokemon were off! Allegra bounced on as fast as she could, but the Zigzagoon that her competitor was paired with was faster. Thankfully, her Popplio wasn’t the slowest, given that the Ralts struggled to even come close.
“Uhm…Is it the Shiny Stone?” The Zigzagoon’s owner asked.
“That is….incorrect! So sorry. But now it’s Mademoiselle Sawyer’s turn to answer!”
“A Grass Stone isn’t an Evolution Stone,”She answered, more confident than she felt.
“Out! That is correct! 1 point for Mademoiselle Sawyer! Next question: What Pokemon evolves into Roselia?”
Sawyer didn’t even know that Roselia had a pre-evolution! She needed to think of an answer quick, in case she had to answer. It was a grass type, so something flowery and small…
But it didn’t matter because the Zigzagoon came in first again,”Well, I’ve had my Roselia since he was a Budew. So that’s the answer, Budew!”
“Correct! And that’s 1 point for Mademoiselle Aimee! It’s still anyone’s game, as we move on to question three!”
The competition continued, until Sawyer and Gracie both had two points, while Aimee stayed at one.
“Could this be the final question? Performers, are you ready?” Monsieur Pierre waited for the three to cheer before continuing,”What are the three traditional Starter Pokemon of Kalos?”
It was clear all three Performers knew the answer, and were cheering on their Pokemon to give it their all. Right before Zigzagoon got to the lectern, it tripped and dropped its ring, giving Allegra a chance to get hers to the lectern first.
“Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie are the traditional starter Pokemon of Kalos,” Sawyer announced.
“Oui! And I believe that is your third point Mademoiselle Sawyer. Which means you will be moving on to the Freestyle Performance!”

#656 Froakie
I made a Froakie about... 3 years ago, but I never took a picture of it before I immediately sent her off to an in-law. I also didn't write down any sort of pattern, so this felt like crocheting Froakie for the first time again. I like her little nose bubbles. They're like a milk-stache.

Inteleon anon here! The Sobble are finally ready to be given to trainers and most of them have already been claimed! The only one who hasn't been claimed is one of the females who developed a chip on the fin in her head. We're worried no one will want her cuz of that chip (it's pretty big)...do you know anyone who wants a Sobble in case she doesn't get claimed? She's a sweetie I promise🥺
I also have a CRAZY Froakie story...I took her and Inteleon swimming today and I was on the dock watching them. Inteleon was teaching her how to glide in the water or something and he swam ahead of her, wanting her to follow. I saw this motion below her and then a pair of eyes, and I realized that a Gyarados was right below her and was likely thinking she was food. I absolutely blew up! I dove in the water in my clothes with my glasses on and I grabbed Froakie just as the Gyarados took a bite and I ended up with my arm in its mouth and Froakie clutched to my chest. Thankfully Inteleon noticed right away and was able to fight it off and get me and Froakie safe to shore. Froakie and Inteleon are fine, but my arm is not. I also lost my glasses during that too...
Oh man, I’d take her in a heartbeat but I’ve got my hands full at the moment with my own team plus the Tropius I’m temporarily looking after, I’ll ask around though.
And sweet Arceus, I can’t imagine how terrifying that encounter with the Gyarados must’ve been. I’m glad you’re all relatively okay (may your glasses rest in peace pieces) Also, you and Inteleon were insanely brave, so round of applause for both of you!

Warning: This is VERY LONG. i got carried away.
"hey don't you have a wip fic for another au?" yeah shush i have a new idea that's not as fleshed out (after writing that turned out to be a lie) as the chunibyo one but i had to share it.
its in every fandom, but Saiki K Pokemon Au time. it's always cliche but who cares its amazing.
Kaido is the mc. for sure. he chooses a froakie because the professor (its kusuke, he's totally it) said it was a dark and mysterious as him. at first he's disappointed by the frog but once it evolves he starts loving it. him and greninja wear matching outfits. he tied red wrist wraps on its arms and he wears a pink scarf.
nendo is his rival lmao. he met him when kaido left with his first pokemon and challenged him to a battle, immediatly. he said loser has to buy the other persons ramen. "but i dont even know you??" "oh. well lets be friends, runt!" "you just asked to fight me???" nendo uses an eevee because his mom gave it to him when he was young. kaido wins because nendo didnt use a single attacking move. he just used sand attack and growl. the battle lasted 10 minutes because kaido kept missing.
now with his newly self proclaimed rival, after going to eat ramen, kaido sets out on his journey. i like to imagine a region with just every pokemon cause its cool that way. kaido mainly looks for fighting type pokemon, and a few dark types, and it takes him a bit to realize that this is probably a bad strategy and that he isnt finding anything, as cool as they are. he catches a shroomish, not knowing it became a type he wanted, because he was impressed with it's "battle capabilities" because it survived an attack that had fainted others. he names it doomslayer cause he's such an edgelord.
somewhere along the way nendo finds him and says that he's going to challenge a gym, and that kaido should join him. kaido agrees because "oh yeah, thats why im on this journey" and they go to the first gym.
The first gym is ghost type, run by toritsuka. why is he first? cause he's prolly not very good at battling and he knows it. the gym itself would be very foggy, and kaido has to traverse it to get to toritsuka. along the way toritsuka has spirits tell him where kaido is, and he'll release a pokemon near there for him to battle, and this happens 2 times. Torisuka himself uses 2 pokemon, a Litwick and a Galarian Yanmask. both are female, obviously. kaido absolutely demolishes these two pokemon, with his water and grass type, seeing as they're part fire and ground. first badge complete.
surpsingly, nendo also beats this gym, mainly because eevee can use bite. guess he figured out how to use attacking moves lmao. also yes ik bite is learned at 25, and rn they're at like lv 12 but shh. he found a tm or smt. it also helps thst toritsuka could barely hit nendos eevee due to the ghost and normal type thing.
nendo tries to travel with kaido, but kaido usually manages to worm his way away from him. he usually gets away whenever nendo challenges someone else and they have to tell him that he can't catch someone else's pokemon.
second gym is chiyo's gym. she uses grass types, and her gym is covered in flowers, trees, and it looks like a forest. the puzzle itself is rather simple. the floor is covered in large flowers, and you have to step on the correct ones or get sent back to the start. i like to imagine a giant vine yeeting kaido. chiyo also forgot to write clues over which ones are correct and ends up helping kaido, and winds being endeared by his determination. chiyo uses a Fomantis and a Petilil, because she thinks they're cute. kaido actually struggles quite a bit because he brings a water type and a grsss type. he wins in the end though, because chiyo ends up lovestruck and forgets to attack. she daydreams about inviting him to run the gym with her because he's so talented in her eyes, but he leaves before she can ask, grass badge in hand.
after chiyo's gym, kaido's froakie evolves into Frogadier, and he cries. in-between gyms again, kaido catches a rockruff because it was cute and it whined when he tried to walk away after battle. again, kaido catching types he likes without even knowing, provided his rockruff evolves at nightime. he names it Decimator. at this point i place kaido's levels at 19-21 ish, and close to rockruff and shroomish evolving.
next gym is hairo's and surprise surprise, it's a fire type gym. his gym his very, very intense. he has actual jets of fire lining his gym. there's no puzzle because he believes in just battling for victory or whatever, kaido didn't catch it behind the roar of the fire jets. kaido just walks along a pathway and gets challenged to battle by 3 randoms. i like to imagine one of them is nendo, and its never discussed. he has a fire type and everything, and its just not brought up. he's back to his single eevee after this too. kaido also wins with relative ease, considering he has a water type and rock type, although he makes the mistake of sending shroomish out at some point, but makes a clutch switch after it survives a flamethrower. fire badge obtained.
right after this, his shroomish evolves into breloom and he cries again. he gets very happy when his pokemon evolve. and also, after a few random encounters, his rockruff also evolves. its day form because kaido is a clueless baby. he still loves it all the same. at some point nendo challenges kaido with a single pokemon again, but this time it's a leafeon. kaido asks how he knew to evolve it, and he just says he battled next to some funny looking rock and it changed. of course. it actually manages to oko Frogadier because kaido wasnt expecting anything other than an eevee, but his breloom deals with it easily, because nendo kept using not very effective grass moves because it worked once. how does he have 3 badges again? nobody knows. level 25-27 now.
next gym is saiko's, and he uses normal types because all the other types were "too needy for someone like him." he's got 2 Persians and a Toucannon. he tried to use 3 persians but he was told that he needed something else just in case someone brought a fighting type by his dad. so he grabbed the first wild bird he found and evolved it. saiko doesnt have a puzzle, and instead just has an elevator that you can pay 5000 Pokedollars to use, otherwise you have to take the stairs like a pleb. Kaido takes the stairs because he's keeping his money dammit. its only 3 stories until saiko's floor, so it's really not much. Kaido sweeps easily with breloom until toucannon comes out. breloom gets slaughtered by a flying type move, and he sends out lycanroc to finish it. normal badge complete.
when he next sees nendo, he has a meowth with his leafeon. kaido asks where he got it, and nendo says he found it near the rich looking gym. kaido concludes that nendo accidently stole a pokemon and they go to return it. saiko says that the plebs can have it as a reward for defeating him, and dismisses them. levels 30-33.
5th gym! mera runs this one, and there isn't a type. she has an Alcremie, Appletun, Cherubi, and a Vannilish. what can i say, girl loves her food. kaido is genuinely concerned that she is gonna eat her pokemon though. the challenge is cooking. kaido has to cook curry, and if its bad, he fights a trainer, up to 3 times. if its good he gives it to mera and moves on the next curry. the actual battle goes okay, but its fairly difficult due to not having a single type, and being unpredictable. obviously he wins in the end, and the badge is a bowl of curry.
frogadier evolves into greninja finally, and they have the matching outfits going on. nendo laughs at it. somewhere nendo also got an applin. kaido is fairly sure he took this one from mera as well, but he decides to let it go, and tell nendo how he can evolve it. he doesn't think nendo understood, but he tried. kaido also realizes he only has 3 pokemon, and decides to find two more. he finds a braixen, which he evolves into delphox. her name is Lucifer's Eternal Flames. Lucy for short. he also catches a noibat. the noibat was caught because he got lost in a cave, and the noibat was leading him out, so he decided he couldn't just leave it there. he names it the Jet Bat Wings. yes im doing that and yes its hilarious. levels 37-39.
gym 6. fighting type, and its kuboyasu. he tried to leave behind his violent days behind him, and become a poison type gym, but eventually gave in and did fighting instead. after he had already dyed his hair purple for the colorscheme. he kept the fighting gym purple because he already commited dammit. 4 pokemon, and hes got Toxicroak (yes ik the irony), Lucario, Grapploct, and Pangoro. greninja faints quickly, and so does lycanroc, but after some paralysis tricks with breloom and delphox sweeping the rest, pangoro comes in and ko's delphox. noibat pulls through in the end, with flying type moves. fighting badge earned.
next battle with nendo, and it turns out he actually evolved applin, and now he's got a flapple. kaido is midly impressed. kaido catches his 6th and final pokemon, an absol. he was overjoyed when he finally got another dark type. he names it Fluffy. yes, the dark type doesnt get an edgy name. levels 44-46, there was a longer gap in between the 6th and 7th gyms. oh also, you may be wondering about an evil team in this au. and my answer is....¯\_(ツ)_/¯
gym 7. Fairy type. Teruhashi. you knew she'd be coming eventually. and yes i saved the characters people prolly wanna know about until last haha. and because i think they fit the more difficult gyms. girl's got 5 pokemon, Mimikyu (i think it fits her fake perfect girl personality), Slyveon, Gardevoir, Florges, and Magearna. how does she have a legendary? prolly cause she's perfect and just asked for it, and someone actually found one. No puzzle here, but having to find his way through the mobs of teruhashi fans is prolly hard enough. Kaido actually has to try this gym several times due to him lacking anything good againist fairies. he gets it eventually though, and teruhashi has to reassure her fans that it's okay that she lost before they murder kaido. fairy badge down.
at this point kaido has no clue how nendo keeps getting gym badges. he has 3 pokemon, and one isn't even evolved. especially considering how easily Kaido himself can beat him. kaido I shrug it off as the plothole it usually is in pokemon games. levels 47-50. Noibat evolves into Noivern, and kaido has himself a pretty strong team. Greninja, Delphox, Absol, Lycanroc, Noivern, Breloom. although he has just been choosing based on personal preference, it turnes out nicely. and yes I'm padding this out cause y'all know what gym is next.
Gym number 8. The psychic type gym, run by Saiki and Aiura. It doesn't get more cliche than this. The challenge in this one is a maze. There's no extra trainers here, instead Kaido fights Aiura everytime he encounters her. She only uses 1 Pokemon in these battles because they happen a lot. Kaido wonders how she keeps finding him, let alone getting through the maze so easily when there's walls everywhere. He brushes it off as her just knowing the layout. battle itself happens, and it's a double battle. they each have 3 pokemon. Saiki has a ditto, espeon, and an alolan raichu (because he thought it was cute) Aiura mainly runs the support side of the team, and she's got a female meowstic, alakazam, and reuniclus, and wishes she had a cuter team, but she makes it work. This is prolly Kaido's second hardest gym. not harder than teruhashi's because he had no advantages, unlike this one where he's got several dark types. the battle is hard because they know exactly what kaido is gonna do. the minute he sends out his breloom to get a cheap paralysis, out comes ditto. the breloom ditto nearly wipes out both dark types, but noivern takes care of it, only to meet a sad demise at the hands of raichu, despite the dragon advantage. he's able to win on his second try, after he refused to send out breloom due to the fact that they just seem to know his next move. it creeped him out. Psychic badge done.
nendo tries to take saiki out for ramen with him and kaido after his gym fight, declaring him his best buddy, and it's not explained why nendo decided this. nendo eventually wins the argument and they get ramen. kaido notices saiki looks disturbed everytime he looks at nendo, but brushes it off as "yeah he disturbs me too." they part ways and onto victory road because im still mourning how there wasn't one in sword and shield. after victory road, kaido is nearing level 60 on everyone.
elite four? eheh i don't know who'd make it up. prolly 4 previous gym leaders with fully evolved teams and more pokemon. not tlo worries about them tho.
Kaido bests the elite four, and marches on to the champion.
Champion Akechi. Full team of 6 Pokemon, and he's a formidable opponent. He's able to easily predict what moves are going to be used next, and always has type advantage. Although, unlike before, while difficult to do, it is possible to do something unpredictable to trip him up, which is the only way Kaido is able to win. His team consists of Serperior, Glaceon, Gyrados, Ninetales, Togekiss (it's just there to be annoying, it can barely attack, and akechi did this to be a nuisance so he can't be clean sweeped), and Mew. Again, I love unexplained lengendaries on teams okay. To Kaido, it seems like with enough switching, he could easily defeat Akechi, but Akechi is very good at predicting. So againist Akechi, it's like the team as been catered specifically to beat Kaido. But, knowing him, it likely was. It takes him ages to beat Akechi. Like literal ages. The only saving grace is Akechi can get tripped up if Kaido is unpredictable enough. It's likely a mixture of that and para hscks that lets him win, and Kaido is champion. Nendo did try to challenge him (somehow beating the elite four) but was beaten. I love how the rivals always beat everything but then get horribly beaten by you.
Holy shit this is longer than i thought it would be. I have been writing this for literal hours. Hope you enjoyed. This is what my brain had inspiration for today apparently, instesd of the fic im working on.
Hadn't seen too much Pokemon stuff for saiki k yet, so tada. and yes, i came up with most of this while writing. the only idea i had before i started writing was the saiki and aiura gym

Pokecafe (Rocketshipping)
****PART TWO**** (RATING: CUTE/FLUFF)
“C’mon everyone, move faster!” Bonnie demanded leading the way to the kitchen. She was so excited to get a tour of Cafe Le Ha, she could hardly contain herself.
“Yeah, we’re coming,” Clemont huffed, annoyed at his sister’s impatience, trying to keep up with her. Ash and Serena were trailing behind as well, they’ve never seen Bonnie walk so fast in their life.
“Finally,” Bonnie breathed, making it to the kitchen door. Placing her hand on it, she started to push it open.
“Bonnie, you have no idea if they’re even ready for us to come back yet!” Clemont lightly scolded as he caught up with her.
“But they’re expecting us, so we should be fine,” Bonnie reasoned.
Opening the door to the kitchen, Bonnie’s eyes and mouth immediately widened. She couldn’t believe that she got to have a tour of this place. She instantly took notice of a giant island that was used for chopping and preparing food smack dab in the center of the room. To her left, Bonnie saw a beautiful clear double door fridge that boasted the most delicious looking ingredients. Next to the fridge were three giant ovens, each baking it’s own unique treat.
“Wow, this place is so cool,” Bonnie gasped as the rest of her friends caught up with her.
Jessie was over by the island cutting some Pecha berries trying her best to act normal. Removing herself from her present task, she quickly looked up and saw the kids. “Why hello, I hope you all enjoyed your meal. Now you get to see where it all comes together,” Jessie held her hands out to gesture the kitchen.
“Well we’re excited to be here,” Serena said.
“Yes, well why don’t we start off with meeting the head chef?” Jessie asked as she walked over to a figure huddled over by the stove, stirring what seemed to be a tomato bisque.
The chef turned around only to reveal that it was in fact a Wobbuffet standing on a ladder.
“Wobbuffet!” Wobbuffett waved.
The quartet gasped in disbelief. How could a pokemon be such a good cook?
“Wow, I’m interested to know how you guys even understand him when he gives out orders,” Clemont said in the most curious manor.
Jessie smiled Perfect she thought everything is going according to plan
“Well, I’m gonna actually let you guys in on a little secret,” she started “You see my uncle is an inventor. He’s always coming out with a new gadget every couple of weeks, and sometimes he asks me to test them out.”
All of a sudden, James made his way out of a back room connected to the kitchen, wheeling out a giant box like contraption.
“You see, Wobbuffet has certain regular commands that we don’t need a translator, but when there’s something special that he wants us to do, he enters the box, and voila! It translates what he says for us!” Jessie exclaimed. “Wobbuffet, would you be so kind as to show our guests?”
Without wasting any time, Wobbuffet stepped into the box, and started to speak.
“Welcome to Cafe Le Ha’s kitchen. We are so honored to have you here!” a semi electronic sounding voice sounded from some speakers that were attached to the contraption. Little did the kids know that this was no invention at all, but instead a dazzled up box with a secret compartment for Meowth to hide in, so he could translate everything Wobuffet was saying.
“Wow, science is so amazing!” Ash cheered. “I wish we had something like that to talk to our pokemon with!”
“I was just about to say that too,” Clemont agreed. “This truly is a scientific breakthrough! I would love to meet your uncle someday, as I myself am a fellow inventor.” Clemont boasted as he pushed his glasses firmer on his nose.
“Yes of course,” Jessie nodded “I can go get his contact information now actually!” and with that she walked out of the kitchen. She could not believe that this plan was working out so perfectly. Those twerps will believe anything  she thought as she marveled at her genius for coming up with and thinking out everything. Just one more part needs to work out, and Pikachu will be ours!
When Jessie left the kitchen, it was time for James to enact the final part of their plan.
“Well, we’ve been testing this contraption out for a couple of days,” he exclaimed “Why don’t you try it out on your pokemon?” he offered pointing to Ash’s Pikachu “What about starting with that Pikachu of yours? He looks like he has a lot to tell you.”
Ash looked at his Pikachu “What do you say bud, do you want to try it out?”
Pikachu’s face spraked up. “Pika pi” the yellow mouse squealed as he jumped off of Ash’s shoulder and into the translator. As soon as the door closed, a locking sound was instantly heard, which sent the kids into confusion.
“Um, why did the door just lock?” Serena asked, starting to get a little scared for Pikachu.
“Oh, that’s because I pressed this button,” James said bluntly as he showed the kids a remote that he had been holding in his pocket.
“Wait, something’s going on here!” Ash started to shout a little “I want Pikachu out of that box now!”
With those words, Jessie came running back into the kitchen just in time for the getaway “I’m afraid we can’t do that twerp! Because we want your Pikachu” she couldn’t contain her excitement any longer “So you can prepare for trouble!” Jessie said.
James smiled, and pressed a second button on the remote that was responsible for controlling the tiles in the floor. Instantly, it separated in two only to reveal the famous Team Rocket hot air balloon, which scooped up Team Rocket and the translator, and started to float away.
“Hm, and make it double,” James chimed in. By now Jessie and James had ridden themselves of their disguises, and Ash and his friends were no longer oblivious to the situation at hand.
“Team Rocket!” Serena shouted
“We should have known it was you guys! Give Pikachu back!” Ash broke out into a full sprint to catch up with them.
“No can do, twerp! We don’t willingly give things back,” Jessie shook her head.
“Yeah,” Meowth added coming out of the translator, “Besides, when we give this Pikachu to the boss,” James stepped in to finish the sentence “We’re gonna finally get that big fat bonus that we rightfully deserve,”
“We’re gonna be rich!” The trio sang in unison.
Ash finally caught up with the balloon, and was quick to call out Froakie and Fletchinder.
“Ok guys listen up. Fletchinder, I need you to take Froakie and sneak up to that balloon. Froakie, when you get up there, use your best cut attack to pop it. When you guys come down, grab the translator from the balloon. Pikachu is in there” Ash commanded.
Within seconds his pokemon were up in the sky, putting the plan into action. Ash untensed at their perfect execution, putting a giant gash in Team Rocket’s air balloon, and retrieving Pikachu, with little hassle.
However, where one group of people were relieved, another grew more frustrated.
“Ugh, why don’t we ever take into account that twerp’s other pokemon!” Jessie sighed.
James shook his head “It’s ok, we’ll get em next time, but until then,”
“We’re blasting off again!” Team Rocket shouted as they went flying away.
************
“Butt-er-free!” Jessie woke up to the pokemon munching on a sitrus berry. She looked around to find herself in the middle of a meadow filled with millions of wild flowers.
She rubbed her eyes, unsure of what just happened, then it all came flooding back. Her brilliant plan, the poke cafe, the twerps ruining the day again. She was certain that this time, everything would work out. She curled her knees into her chest and sat in a quasi-fetal position; she was never one to cry, but presently holding tears was a challenging feat. A rustle of the grass behind her prompted Jessie to turn around, where she saw her blue haired partner.
“Hey, there you are!” James smiled running to her “Meowth and I were looking for you…” James sat down next to Jessie, taking notice of her slumped frame “Do you want to tell me what’s wrong glum chum?” he bantered, nudging Jessie with this shoulder.
“James, you know I can’t take you seriously when you say that,” Jessie giggled a little.
“Why do you think I said it?” James winked “But seriously what’s up?”
Jessie picked a flower from her side and started to tear off the petals one by one “Well, it’s just that I really thought that this was going to be the time that we caught Pikachu. I guess I just wanted us to have a victory... especially because you and Meowth were so dejected when we first started this plan. I don’t like seeing you like that…” Jessie blushed a little.
“Wow, I didn’t know you felt that way,” James confessed  “To be honest, I really don’t like seeing you upset either. Actually, my favorite Jessie is the one that gave us that little pep talk.” James stopped to watch Jessie closely, her cheeks donning a brilliant shade of scarlett. “In fact,” James continued “I would even go as far to say that your confidence and persistence is downright hot,” James scratched his head, and looked at the sun that was barely sitting on the horizon.
Jessie’s eyes widened, her body twisting to face James. “You really think that?” she smiled.
“Yeah,as of late, it’s all I can think about” James replied “What guy wouldn’t find your confidence hot?”
Jessie chuckled a little, and leaned on James’s shoulder “Well, if you find it so hot, maybe I’ll have to give you guys pep talks more often.” she winked.
“I guess you will,” James said, as they both pulled closer into each other, and watched the vibrant sunset fade into night.

How does the gang meet?
Ooo!! Yay headcanons!!
Ted and Charlotte meet first, seeing as they reign from the same region. They meet when they both arrive at the lab to receive their first pokemon! Prof.Sycamore is out on a research trip so our traveling Prof.Hidgens steps in to help out the young trainers.
Ted is eager to pick his first Pokemon while Charlotte simply wants to learn more about them questioning Prof.Hidgens. Ted immediately picks a little Froakie, he questions why Charlotte hasn’t picked one.
“I’m not really much of a trainer” She comments, he’s puzzled by this but finds it intriguing.
When Ted is leaving he and his Froakie are having slight trouble communicating, He sees Charlotte approach followed by a gorgeous Sylveon who looks delighted. She kneels down next to the Froakie and almost immediately befriends him.
They hang out a little while before Charlotte is called home due to a Pokemon emergency.
Bill and Emma are next, Its Hoenns day for picking your starter pokemon.
Emma is first in line at the lab and takes some time to talk with the eccentric Prof.Hidgens. He happily answers all her questions while she plays with his Piplup.
Bill is very shy and is stressing over his decision. He’s gone over everything he knows about his three options. (More on this when I describe how they picked their starters). He bumps into Prof.Hidgens and Emma while deep in thought, apologizing over and over before rejoining the line.
Paul had just arrived in Hoenn and is marveling at the new area, he is very exhausted after traveling by boat all day to reach the island and decides to rest in one of the forests. Emma is out looking for Pokemon on a slow day when she encounters a small Bulbasaur.
The pokemon looks unusually frightened and shys away from her. She approaches it slowly with her hand out. She hears a very distressed voice shouting through the forest growing stronger as it approaches. She fears the voice will scare the Pokemon but it seems it recognizes the voice
“Oh, Budo! There you are!” A boy emerges from the shadows, he throws himself at the very excited Bulbasaur who wraps his vines around the boy. The boy becomes aware of the girl’s presence and looks up
“Oh hi.. I’m Paul!” He looks down at his Bulbasaur “Sorry we were resting and I guess we got lost”
“I’m Emma! And your Bulbasaur is very cute” They remain awkwardly silent for a moment before Emma asks the inevitable “So… where are you from? I’m from.. well here!” She exclaims
“I’m from Kanto but I’m traveling all around! I’m not the best trainer but I love Pokemon and think I’m getting better” They discuss for awhile before night falls and they must part ways. Not, however, before Emma offers to help him train and they make plans to meet up tomorrow.
Bill and Paul meet shortly after this. Bill is walking around town reading followed by a very excited Eevee and a sleepy Mudkip lay on his head. Paul is exploring with his Psyduck trying to calm him down, his Bulbasaur following behind.
They bump into each other making the Mudkip fall into Paul who quickly catches it. The Eevee tries its best to intimidate Paul but its just too cute. Paul gets the message and hands the Mudkip back to the boy.
Bill adjusts his glasses “Oh thank you! I apologize, I was very caught up with my reading” He looks towards his Eevee “Sorry about him, he’s very passionate about his friends, I’m Bill by the way” he extends his hands, Paul shakes it firmly.
“I’m Paul” He gestures towards his Bulbasaur and Psyduck “This is Budo and Kincho” Bill’s eyes widen and he kneels down.
“Extraordinary” He whispers in awe. Paul gives him a weird look, Bill quickly resumes his position.
“Sorry, I’ve just never seen one before. He’s very cute and looks to be in excellent health and your Psyduck looks very calm” Paul beams with pride giving his Bulbasaur a high five, Budo responds with a vine five. The boys decide to head to a cafe nearby and spend all day talking about Pokemon. Paul learns more about his Pokemon from a very eager Bill. Bill hears about Pauls adventures across the regions and his love for Pokemon.
After this Bill starts joining the training sessions with Emma in the forest. However, he’s mainly there with his Eevee and his research equipment. The three become very fast friends.
Paul receives news from Kanto about his family, he must act quickly. He fully expects to have to say goodbye to his friend however when arriving at their final training session both Bill and Emma are ready and packed for a long journey.
The gang makes their way to Kanto and stay for a while before Paul receives confirmation that everything is ok. The group decides to head west to Johto to progress their Pokemon journey.
After a long day of travelling, they make camp in a secluded spot in the forest, Paul falls asleep first nestled closely with his Bulbasaur. Emma is next after a small training session with her Torchic and her newly found Eevee she met while in Kanto. Bill stays by the fire cuddled with his Eevee and leaning sleepily on his newly found Snorlax reading a book about the Johto area (Also found in Kanto)
He plans to sleep but suddenly he hears shouting and grunting deep in the forest. He becomes alert and motions for his Eevee to awaken the others.
They all approach slowly towards the noise cautiously and quickly hide behind a bush. They watch as two figures can be made out. A purple light is being emitted from the scene.
“Leave me alone!” A young girls voice shouts. She isn’t afraid but determined, Bills watches as the girl commands an order. He looks to where she is commanding and sees an Espeon. The Espeon is in a fighting stance, determination coursing through its eyes. Paul nudges Bill and points towards what appears to be the young girls opponent.
“Should we help?” Emma whispers. Bill considers this for a moment but before he can answer, the young girl makes another command. Shes good. She defeats the opposing Pokemon before scolding the opponent.
The three friends watch in awe as the opposing trainer races off in anger leaving his injured pokemon behind. The young girl sighs in sadness and approaches the Pokemon. “I’m so sorry” She whispers “You’re really hurt, we need to get you to a Poke Center” She claims. Bill knows better and pops out quickly.
“It won’t make it,” he says, much to the shock of his friends. The girl turns quickly in shock, holding a Mimikyu. He hears all his friends gasp at the sight of the Pokemon. It shouldn’t be here, it traveled a long way just to be abandoned. “Please let me help” the girl is weary at first before allowing Bill to help.
The group goes back to the camp and talk while Bills helps the Pokemon, assisted very eagerly by his Eevee.
“I’m Alice by the way…”. The group nod and introduce themselves. After a while, they all decide to rest and deal with everything in the morning.
Bill claims that Alice should keep the Mimikyu, to which she excitedly agrees to. The two become fast friends, and the group all agree to ask if she would like to join their journey. “I would love to,” She says honestly
They spend the day getting to know each other. Alice almost has a complete team of six, much to the group’s surprise. She’s the youngest of the four, but dont let that stop you. Shes extremely smart and tactical. Her pokemon are strong and very well cared for.
The group spends some more time in Johto, Paul gains a very chaotic Eevee. They decide to head north to Kalos to continue their journey.
Almost immediately they are confronted by a young trainer who challenges a very timid Bill to battle. Paul volunteers to take his place and they battle. Paul sends out his Bulbasaur, while the boy sends out a Froakie. Emma sighs at his obvious stupidity.
“Water types are weak against grass types” She comments. The boy glares at her then poses a very smug smile at Paul.
“That might be so, but my Froakie is extremely good” With this remarks, the boys battle it out, eventually declaring the boy the winner. Paul sighs discouraged comforted by a lowkey surprised Emma. Shell never admit it but she was impressed.
“I’m Ted by the way, but you can call me the best Pokemon Master” The group groans at Ted. Alice thinks for a moment before stepping forward.
“I’ll battle you" She claims. Ted’s smug smile falls as he stares at the girl. He scoffs but Alice doesn’t give in. “You scared?”
At this Ted becomes determined and accepts her battle request. Ted sends out his Machop, Alice smiles extremely smug and sends out her Espeon. Who takes one look at the Machop and smiles. The battle lasts about two minutes before Ted is unfortunately beat, he claims good game but shakes her hand just a little too hard.
Alice’s victory is short as she feels a Pokeball move around in her bag. She pulls it out and summons her Mimikyu. The group is shocked to find it in such bad shape.
Ted quickly volunteers to take them to a friend of his who can help. He claims there isn’t a Poke Center too nearby. He leads the group to a small house, located in a beautiful plane of grass. Surrounded by flowers and a small river.
A young girl is seen gardening assisted by a beautiful Sylveon and a very smug Delcatty. She smiled excitedly upon seeing Ted and the group of friends. She approaches them with a never faltering smile. She gives Ted a quick hug, his face flushes red before they let go. She turns to the others.
“I’m Charlotte!” They hurry their introductions and alert Charlotte of the situation. She nods and carefully takes the Mimikyu inside. She tends to it, much to the group surprise, it heals very quickly. While the ghost type rests she offers them food and they all talk about their journeys. Ted explains how he wishes he could travel around like them, Charlotte agrees and describes her passion for Pokemon. Emma invites them to join the journey. They both agree.
And that’s that. Im so sorry about how long this is. I was not expecting it. More will come soon though, how they found all their pokemon, getting their starters and more! Hope you enjoyed :)

Tightrope: a Y Storylocke
Chapter Two: A Gift and a Curse to the Wilderness
Side by side, the resemblance between Grace and Aisling was much stronger, though contrast still existed. Grace was more compact in person than Xoana remembered her, especially next to her daughter who was a head taller and long of limb. But she was just as vivacious and quick to laugh as she’d always been on TV, and had a natural ease about her where Aisling felt high-strung even with the breezy exterior. They smiled the same though—radiating enjoyment and just a hint of mischief.
“Shall we get goin’ then?” It was kind of adorable how Aisling’s accent got stronger around her mother.
“Yeah!”
Aisling gave Grace one last kiss goodbye before practically shoving Xoana out of the front garden to stop their stream of polite farewells. Her Chespin waved frantically until they were round the corner out of sight. The Rhyhorn bellowed after them.
“I always do, Raleigh!” Aisling shouted back.
The Fletching circled them once and landed on Aisling’s shoulder. They crossed the road Xoana would have usually taken to Neuvartault to head for the old route instead. It felt odd to walk instead of drive, but that was the tradition for trainers.
“I thought we’d never get out of there,” said Aisling with a big sigh, but that was all for show.
Xoana wished she could be as genuinely appreciative of the smothering her own parents had poured over her earlier. Of course she had returned all of their “I love you’s” and gave them both the best hug she could muster, but all the while she had been thinking about how to slip out the door.
And here was Aisling trying not to smile at the twittering bird on her shoulder.
“So, can you talk with your Fletchling?”
“The trick is getting him to shut up.” The Fletchling in question cheeped angrily at that and buffeted Aisling’s ear with his wing. “After Cináed found us we battled together for a while until the understanding set in. Same with Raleigh. That’s how I got into training.”
“That’s really cool! Makes sense too. I always thought it was sort of odd to live with pokemon if you can’t talk to them.”
“Didn’t make sense to me either.”
Something tapped Xoana’s leg and she stopped. Froabble looked up at her with his big yellow eyes and blinked—first one eye, then the other.
“Want to come up?” she offered.
He silently inflated the bubbles above his nose once and it seemed like that was all the answer she was going to receive. He’d barely made so much as a peep since she got him. Maybe he would talk more after the understanding activated or perhaps he was simply quiet by nature. She hefted him and held him in her arms.
Aisling waited ahead of them on the footpath to Quarellis. Dozens of these ancient, well-worn trails snaked across the region, maintained to this day for trainers to journey along. This one was wide and sunny, lined with razz berry bushes and stately old apricorn trees. Xoana used to come out here sometimes with her siblings to gather them but not for some time, she realized, not since Clément moved out.
Xoana skipped to catch up. “So, My Queen, did you ever ride like your mom?”
“Oh yeah, I was riding before I could sit up in the saddle. One of my main jobs on our ranch was ‘breaking in’ the baby Rhyhorn.” Xoana inferred from the exaggerated air quotes that this was an outdated term. “It was more like breaking me with how often I got thrown. See, the calves have plenty of power in their charge right out of the shell, but they have to learn form and follow through or you just get launched.” She illustrated this by slapping her hands together and shooting one away from her.
“Wow, that seems dangerous.”
“Eh, a bit,” Aisling shrugged. “It’s not so bad if you wear the gear.”
The way she said it made Xoana think she hadn’t always worn the gear.
“That’s still pretty hardcore.”
“Yeah, I was super into it as a kid and it’s still fun, but it’s not really me anymore.”
Xoana wasn’t sure it was best to probe any further yet. “I guess things come and go. I used to be really into architecture and interiors. Mega nerdy, I know!”
“A little,” Aisling acknowledged. She looked off into the distance, clearly thinking about something, so Xoana let her. Bree bounded ahead, chasing a leaf. Xoana adjusted Froabble in her arms, but there was no way to be comfortable anymore. Maybe she should work out more.
“Do you mind hopping for a bit, Froabble? My arms are getting tired.”
They were getting into town and the Froakie looked down at the cobblestones with distaste. Instead of jumping down, he clambered up over her shoulders and installed himself like a backpack. She giggled.
“That works!”
Quarellis was always a little sleepy right after school let out. The children had dispersed and the tourists who came to see an authentic, old Kalos town had yet to arrive. Most of the shops were closed for a week or two to take a break and outfit themselves for the next season. Froabble leaned over her shoulder a bit to get a better look at the fountain in the square and the Buizel and Panpour playing in it, but stayed where he was.
At this hour, most of the town’s activity was centered around the café they’d met at yesterday and they went in for a boost. Bree bounced excitedly in front of the pastry case when she was given license to select her own treat from the pokemon-friendly offerings and Froabble used his tongue to indicate his choice before the Chespin had even begun to decide. Cináed, meanwhile, eschewed the café’s goods in favor of a sunflower oatcake from Aisling’s pocket. Aisling took her coffee black and got a brioche for herself. She laughed at Xoana’s hot chocolate and croissants but people who thought those breakfast choices were reserved for children were wrong and their souls were shriveled from self-imposed suffering. No one liked black coffee, not really. They were addicts, masochists, liars beyond all hope of redemption.
Aisling was out the door before Xoana had her in stitches. The pokemon were confused but kept pace as Xoana hurried onward so as not to further annoy the grouchy patrons on the patio. Aisling shambled with mirth a half-step behind her and shed a single tear, utterly defeated.
“You make a solid point,” she said when she no longer had to gasp for breath.
Xoana’s steps became bouncy enough to make Froabble finally jump ship—and probably not from the direct line of sugar and caffeine she had just ingested.
They reached the footbridge on the far end of town and Froabble climbed the railing to look down at his reflection in the glassy water. Flashes of white and orange and the occasional ripple of a horn breaching the surface spoke of Goldeen swimming below. Froabble pointed them out to Bree, who fit her head through the bars to look and very nearly got stuck. Instead she landed on her butt and endured something that sounded a lot like snickering from Cináed.
The bridge ended in the hardened earth of the trail that lead through Neuvartault Forest. The dark mass of trees took up most of the horizon to the north, but for the time being the path ambled through tall grass and bushes. A brook that fed the river ran nearby and it’s burbling mixed with the shuffling of the breeze.
Froabble croaked to get her attention and pointed to the water. Should she let him swim? He did need to stay damp but…
“Cináed can watch him,” Aisling reassured her.
The Fletchling and Froakie took off towards the water and Bree stayed behind to guard Xoana and Aisling—a position she took seriously judging by the way she scouted ahead and kept her ears up. There were plenty of wild pokemon about, but none approached them, so the filled the time with conversation. Aisling was surprisingly easy to talk to—not that Xoana ever had much trouble in that department. But she was fun and Xoana didn’t have to work at it. It used to be that way with Serena too.
“So, how long have you known Serena and the others?” The mention of Serena’s name made Xoana worry she’d shared that last thought aloud. But Aisling’s tone was one of failed nonchalance, not prying at an unwitting admission. Xoana let herself feel just a little smug that she had correctly diagnosed anxiety as the motive for Aisling’s coup.
“My mom and Serena’s are friends so we’ve known each other pretty much forever. Hanging around her mom’s gym all the time is what got me interested in pokemon. My parents don’t care for them all that much.”
“Not everyone can be so enlightened.” She was quick with those light, playful jabs.
“We met Tracie and Tierney in primaire. They were already sorta joined at the hip so when I started hanging with Tierney cos of dance, Tracie got pulled into the group.”
“Do you still dance?”
“No,” Xoana sighed, “but it was fun.”
Cináed flew back to them and Froabble emerged from the grass as they neared the trees.
“She started early,” Aisling observed. “She must be pretty good.”
“Tierney’s amazing! She won’t tell you, but she can turn it up!”
“I’ll just have to lure it out of her then.” It might be nice to have some help with Tierney. “Tracie too.”
Oh, right, Tracie. “Um, take your time with her,” Xoana cautioned.
“I will.” She sounded sincere and well-meaning, but the ease and rapidity of her assurance still gave Xoana pause. She wondered if warning her further was wise or if it would only make her more curious.
Xoana’s inner debate was abruptly cut short by a sharp cry from Cináed, who plummeted to the forest floor, wings bound by a thick webbing.
Before they could ask if he was alright, he burned off the bindings with an Ember and wheeled to face his assailant. It was a Scatterbug, but creamy white rather than gray and sparkling where the sunlight hit it—her by the short length of her ruff. A shiny! Xoana could barely believe it. She’d never seen one in person before, not of any species. The Scatterbug took one look at them all and flattened the feelers on the crown of her head. Cináed cheeped angrily and she shrank away from him, but the root at her back prevented further retreat.
“Get ’em Cináed!” Aisling cheered. There was power and excitement in her clenched fists and a light in her eyes as bright as her prey’s glitter.
The Scatterbug shot and missed as Cináed leapt upward with one powerful downsweep. He landed on the Scatterbug’s back and delivered a sharp Peck to her head. She wiggled weakly for a moment, unable to escape, and then prostrated herself in defeat. Cináed only just dodged Aisling’s ball. It barely moved before the telltale green flash confirmed the catch.
“Yes!” Aisling cried and jumped to pick it up. “This one’s got fight in her! Good work, Cináed!”
The Fletchling gave her a little bow and twittered as he flew back to her shoulder. Aisling laughed and hitched the new ball to her belt.
“I can’t believe you caught a shiny! They’re so rare!” Xoana stammered. “And your first catch too.” She almost asked Aisling to let the pokemon back out right then and there, but she supposed she wouldn’t have to wait too long.
“Just lucky, I guess.” She shrugged, but there was a knowing quality to her smile that drew Xoana in. Aisling cocked her head and turned that smile on Xoana. “Why don’t we find a first catch for you too, Marquise? It’ll be a fun surprise for the rest of the crew.”
“Yeah!”
Xoana, Aisling and their trio of pokemon spread out to search, ranging around the woods but never wandering out of sight and hearing of one another. There were at least as many pokemon here as there were in the fields—probably more—but Xoana only caught glimpses and snatches further confused by the dappled light. She hadn’t been under the canopy of Neuvartault Forest in years and it was good to be back. The smell of lichen, dirt, and rotting leaves brought back her outings with Serena. They had built little houses for the wild pokemon and climbed trees and sent bark boats down the brook all while her mother’s Masquerain hovered overhead.
Froabble climbed up a tree to get a better vantage and the Pidgey resting there scattered before Xoana could challenge them. Was it always this difficult to find a wild pokemon willing to battle?
“Marquise!” Aisling called, “I think I found one!”
Xoana hopped a log in her haste and found that Aisling and Bree had pinned a Teddiursa against a berry bush. The pokemon had purple stains around her mouth and on her paws from the meal they had interrupted, but didn’t seem all that perturbed about being cornered. She looked from Aisling to Xoana and chuffed.
“So cute!” Xoana whined.
“Catch her then,” said Aisling in amusement.
“Right! Froabble use Pound!”
The Froakie hopped forward and the Teddiursa put up her juice-soaked mits. Froabble lassoed one with his tongue and wrenched the Teddiursa off her feet. He jumped on her head with both feet and Xoana flinched, but the Teddiursa threw him off and went after him with Scratch.
Xoana fretted for a moment about what he would do before remembering that it was her job to direct him.
“Bubble, Froabble!”
The attack knocked the Teddiursa on her butt and Xoana threw a ball. It rocked twice and was still.
“Nice catch, Marquise!”
Xoana clutched the ball tightly.
“Good job, Froabble! You did great!” Froabble gave her a ribbit. “I think this Teddiursa had the right idea though. Let’s have some lunch.”
They selected a small, nearby clearing carpeted in flowers for their picnic and leaned back against a mossy, fallen trunk. The Teddiursa picked more berries along the edge and came back with an armful to share. Bree eagerly took her up on the offer and Cináed had some with the seeds Aisling brought for him. Froabble busied himself with a nest of termites in one end of the log while the Scatterbug nibbled a leaf on the other end where the shade dulled her glimmer. Aisling and Xoana gabbed and worked their way through the cheese and charcuterie they brought along.
“What are you going to call your Scatterbug?”
“Dáire, I think,” Aisling answered between bites. “It means ‘fruitful’ in Gaeilge.”
“Tierney said Bree means ‘power.’ Going for an auspicious theme?”
“It’s tradition,” Aisling said simply. “What about you? What will you call your Teddiursa?”
Xoana had to think about that for a moment. She whistled and the Teddiursa looked at her.
“How do you like Tessa?”
The Teddiursa cocked her head and Cináed tweeted something to her—perhaps a translation. She smiled and toddled over to climb into Xoana’s lap, then set to licking her paws clean. Xoana scratched her between the ears and she made a chortling purr in response.
“Tessa it is then.”
Xoana looked up to see Aisling, head in hand and smiling at her.
“You’re adorable.”
“Me or the bear cub?” Xoana tried not to sound too invested in the answer.
“Both,” said Aisling after a moment’s deliberation. “You have a way with them too.”
“I don’t know,” said Xoana, looking down at the fuzzy creature melting into her arms. “I think this one might just be really tame.”
“No, you’ve got the touch, right Cináed?” He twittered. “See?”
Xoana wanted to joke or argue that the Fletchling could be saying exactly the opposite for all she knew, but something deeper wanted to just accept the compliment. The two urges battled for a quiet moment and Aisling pounced on the pause.
“That was a great first catch.”
The insolence—how dare she say something so idiotic after her first catch had been a shiny!
“It’s not like I told Froabble to pull that cool move with his tongue. I almost forgot to do anything at all.”
“You were nervous, sure, but you kept your head. Most people don’t until they’ve had some more practice—and I don’t mean school. Doing all this stuff out in the wild is totally different. There’s real stakes to it.”
“I guess so.”
Xoana expected it to stop there, for Aisling to be mollified by her acceptance. Instead she tilted her head to catch Xoana’s wandering gaze and pressed onward.
“You’ve got a natural connection and that has a ton of potential. I think whatever you decide, you’ll go far.”
All Xoana could muster in response was a weak laugh as her heart threatened to beat right through her chest and sent her head spinning. Apparently she was susceptible to flattery. That was… useful to know.
“Care to test that theory?”
Wait, what was she doing? Was she flirting back? Was Aisling flirting with her in the first place?? That grin of hers seemed to suggest so, but maybe it was just a standard sort of playful? When did she get so close? Close enough that Xoana could smell her shampoo: honey, pear and myrrh. Was that a friendly lean? A relaxed arm across the log by her shoulder? Was she even gay?
“You want to battle?” Aisling asked for clarification.
“Yeah!” Koffings and Voltorb! She’d blown it sky high—crashed that momentum right into a barrier not even a Rhyhorn could plow through. Wait, no, on second thought the enthusiasm made for great cover. “It’ll be fun!”
Aisling got to her feet. “One v one? Starter versus starter?”
“You’re on!”
Aisling offered her hand and Xoana almost forgot to move Tessa off her lap before accepting it. Xoana swayed from the vertigo. Aisling touched her arm to steady her but if anything that made it worse. She had to get a grip!
“You ready for a battle, Froabble?”
He ribbitted and hopped to her.
“Up and at ‘em, Bree! It’s our first official match!” The Chespin hurried over as Aisling paced back to make room for the fight. “Cináed, make sure Dáire watches.”
Cináed tweeted at the Scatterbug and she nearly jumped out of her skin, but she put the rest of her leaf down and turned to watch.
Froabble gathered his hind legs under him and Bree lowered herself in preparation.
“Pound, Froabble!” Someone move, please!
“Vine Whip, Bree! Snag one of his legs!”
Froabble was shockingly fast—too fast for Bree—but she received the kick to her jaw like a pro boxer and lashed out with a vine from her wrist.
“Get out of there!”
But Froabble was well ahead of her and already leaping back. Xoana never saw the opening, but Bree didn’t miss it. She lassoed Froabble’s right leg, causing him to fall. With a high cry, she grabbed her vine in both paws, tossed Froabble over her head, and smashed him into the ground on the other side of her.
“Froabble!”
Incredibly he got up and took the only avenue left—straight at his opponent.
“Block!” was all Aisling had time to get out before they collided.
Bree got her arms up in time for Froabble to backflip off them. She staggered but found her feet before the next kick and ducked.
“Swing him!”
Bree grabbed her vine again, swung Froabble around like she was competing in the hammer throw, and flung him back at Xoana.
He landed heavily in front of her and rolled onto his face.
“Froabble?”
He gave her the thumbs up but stayed down. She let out the breath she was holding.
“We give!” she called to Aisling.
Bree turned back to her trainer for approval.
“You did great!” said Aisling, crouching down to her pokemon’s level. “Bring it in!”
They bumped fists and Bree wiggled her claws with Aisling this time, looking fit to burst all the while.
Xoana nearly tripped over her messenger bag and snatched it up to fish out a potion and spray bottle. Froabble had peeled himself off the ground in the meantime and she sprayed him down with water first so that he was clean and damp before she applied the potion.
Aisling had a cloth for Bree and tended her outstretched paws, which looked a bit raw from the vine.
“You two were awesome!” she declared enthusiastically. It took Xoana a moment to process that Aisling was looking right at her.
“Hey! I’m supposed to say that! You won!”
“Only because we stole Froabble’s sick move though.”
“That’s true.” She had to accept that one—for her starter’s sake. “Bree can really take a hit.”
“Chespins are tough nuts to crack. I can’t believe Froabble got up after that first slam.”
“Me neither.”
“All it took was your voice calling him.” Aisling squared up to her, leaned in, and tilted her head down to meet Xoana’s eyes, to make sure she was paying attention and wouldn’t look away. “See, now that’s what I was saying before. You’ve had him for twenty-four hours and you’ve already got a bond. That’s something else.”
Xoana blinked and tried to swallow, but her mouth was too dry. “Thanks,” she forced out—and it felt good. It felt really good. “I wish I had your instincts.”
“That’s practice. You’ll get there.”
Xoana looked down and Froabble smiled up at her.
“Thank you for the match by the way.” Aisling extended her hand.
Xoana took it. “You’re welcome. We should do it again sometime”
The contact lingered—noticeably so. Xoana checked for any sign that Aisling wanted to let go and found none.
“I meant to ask yesterday, but where did you get that lipstick you’re wearing?”
“It’s NAC Aura. Why? Did you want to try it?”
Okay, that was innuendo. There was no way she meant that innocently, not when she said it like that—like she was offering Xoana another bite of her mother’s smoked Gruyère.
What should she do now? Should she escalate it? Was that a good idea? They were sort of like co-workers weren’t they? If something went wrong it would make trouble for everyone. On the other hand, Aisling was gorgeous and Xoana never had an opportunity like this before.
Cináed cheeped and Aisling let go of her hand, laughing at whatever he said.
Without Aisling’s eyes and touch muddling Xoana’s brain, she realized that was probably for the best.
...
The hills east of Neuvartault were bright and lush in the heat of the afternoon. The river was narrower here and rushed through rapids down below them. There wasn’t much out this way and Aisling reminded herself to savor the waving grass and open sky, drink her fill of the calm and quiet. Soon her life would become all gray stone, bustle, and hum.
Unsurprisingly Serena had been very eager to set out this morning after Aisling and Xoana had shown up to dinner last night with new pokemon. Now she was nowhere in sight, having long since struck out on her own. Tierney and Tracie were still nearby on the next rise with Valériane striding beside them, looking for specimens to log. Between Tracie’s strawberry blond bob and Tierney’s stark patchwork vitiligo, they were easy to keep track of.
Aisling should have been watching her pokemon, but her eyes kept wandering to wherever Xoana was. Once again it was worth the glance. Xoana hopped up and down with glee as one of her pokemon took down yet another opponent. Aisling loved the bounce of those girlish tails, how every twist was its own spring, storing and releasing that boundless energy or hers. She looked almost unbearably soft and warm in the pinking light and Aisling resolved to make some excuse to swagger over to her.
“Hey, Aisling!” Cináed swooped around her, snapping her back to the reason she was actually out here.
Her new Azurill had bounced a ways ahead and she shielded her eyes to better make out the sandy shape she was confronting. The pokemon was flat with a pointed tail and turquoise stripes.
“A Dunsparce! Good work, Emer!” Cináed alighted on her shoulder, his job done, and Bree emerged from the grass to see what the fuss was about. “Careful, they’re flighty.”
The Azurill hopped off her tail and crept closer. The Dunsparce looked from her to Aisling and charged, round eyes glowing red. Emer went sailing right over her tail and landed at Aisling’s feet. Dáire ducked behind Aisling’s leg.
“Not this one,” Aisling muttered. Excellent. “Emer use Tail Whip!”
The little Azurill jumped clear of the Dunsparce’s next charge and smacked it with the buoyant orb on the end of her tail. The blow had little effect, which made Emer take a nervous step back, but Aisling saw the telltale shimmer of the Dunsparce’s magic defenses being ripped away.
“Again, Emer!”
The Azurill did as she was told, but the gamble couldn’t hold out forever and the Dunsparce’s next strike hit home. Emer was briefly airborne before disappearing into the tall grass. Cináed took off after her so Aisling turned to her starter.
“Bree, you’re up!” The Chespin planted herself in front of Aisling, cracking her knuckles. “Vine Whip!”
The Dunsparce’s glowing eyes blurred with the speed of its charge, but Bree smacked it aside with a vine. It whirled on her but she repeated the maneuver and then grabbed its tail with another vine and flipped it. Bree pounced on its exposed belly, but didn’t need to. The light of Rage was fading from its eyes.
“Nice work!”
Bree stepped off and the Dunsparce righted itself in time to see Aisling’s ball. Its fin-like wings flared before being swallowed by red light. The Dunsparce did not break out and Bree handed the ball up. Emer wobbled back out of the grass as Aisling perused the catch info on her holocaster.
“You did good too, newbie. Come get a potion.”
Emer didn’t seem to understand exactly what that meant, so Aisling gave Bree a small spritz first. The Chespin leaned in and shook, making a show of how nice it was, then beckoned the Azurill over. Aisling clicked the Dunsparce’s ball and let her out first. She scooted closer and fluttered her wings, letting out a stuttering hiss. It was difficult to read the serpentine creature’s expression, but she seemed happy enough and Bree chittered warmly back.
A shadow passed over as Aisling finished spraying them down. It was Xoana, smiling shyly down at her. Aisling hadn’t found anything conclusive as yet, but she had a feeling and her instincts were rarely wrong.
“How do you like Gobán?” she said, gesturing to her latest catch. The Dunsparce spun a circle.
“So cute! Though not as cute as this little Azurill,” she said, snatching up the pokemon and snuggling her.
Emer let out a purring chirrup and rubbed her cheek against Xoana’s. Aisling couldn’t be sure of what she was saying, so she decided to fill in the gap.
“Are ya sure ya en’t talkin’ about your—”
“The pokedex says Dunsparce are quite rare.”
Aisling wanted to be annoyed at Tracie for messing up her line, but this was the first time she had said anything without being prompted, so she let it slide.
“Does it now? I’ve seen a few before, but they are elusive.”
“Nice catch, My Queen,” said Tierney “Dunsparce are supposed to be lucky, aren’t they?”
Very lucky. “I suppose so.”
“I caught a Riolu.” The pokemon stepped around her legs to greet them. “Gonna name him Laoch.”
“And a fine name it is.” Aisling was a bit surprised one would appear to Tierney, but she still had a lot to learn about her new friends.
“I caught a Fletchling!” Serena was back. “Should be helpful for the first gym.”
Aisling cast upward first, but the bird in question emerged from the grass behind Serena’s Fennekin.
“Wait, are all of these yours?” Serena asked, tracing a circle around Aisling’s team with a swirl of her finger.”
“I’ve been busy.”
“You didn’t tell me your Scatterbug was shiny!” she shrilled, pointing and covering her gaping her mouth.
“I’ve been lucky.”
Serena blinked several times and looked on the verge of demanding an explanation Aisling wasn’t going to give. Instead she said: “battle me.” In the time it took that to register, Serena corrected herself. “Why don’t we have a battle? We haven’t had any proper matches yet.”
“Marquise and I battled yesterday, but sure. Two v two?”
Ending with the question made it tough for Serena to go back to the first item, though her eyebrows were clearly signalling her desire to do so.
“Yes, of course.” She gave her head a little shake and paced across the open space to make room for the battle. “Justine.” She pointed and her Fletching hopped nervously forward while her Fennekin sat primly by her side.
Cináed peered suspiciously at the Fletching from his perch in a nearby bush, but said nothing.
“Want another go, Emer?”
Xoana reluctantly put the Azurill back down. She bounced forward on her tail and bobbed up and down while she waited.
Serena gave Aisling a sharp look, probably an attempt to discern if she was being dumb or arrogant, and Aisling made an after you gesture.
“Tackle!” The intensity that was always simmering beneath Serena’s surface flared to life.
Aisling couldn’t help but smile as she ordered Emer to meet it.
The Azurill’s Water Gun went wide as Serena’s Fletchling dashed to the side and scratched Emer with her claws. Maybe she wasn’t ready to win her own battles just yet, but she could make them easier for her teammates. Aisling had her change tack and go for Tail Whip instead.
This time she hit her opponent right in the… nose? Yes, a small black nose attached to a dark-furred pokemon with a short, bushy tail and reddish paws.
Aisling looked to Serena for an explanation, but she seemed equally confused if not more so.
“A Zorua!” Tracie exclaimed. “They’ve only been reported in the deepest parts of the Winding Woods. Though, I guess that Illusion ability would make them difficult to catalogue.”
The Zorua glanced nervously back at Serena’s Fennekin, almost hiding behind her own tail. Félicité’s ears were pinned back and her bottlebrush tail stood on end, but she looked up to her trainer.
“Oh,” she said smartly. “It seems I caught a Zorua.”
“Cool.” That wasn’t much smarter but whatever. “Are we gonna finish this battle?”
“Yes! Justine use—use your dark-type attack!” Not bad for being flustered.
The Zorua seemed almost as shocked to be asked to continue, but leapt back in with enthusiasm. The dark-type move in question happened to be Feint Attack, which meant that Emer didn’t stand a chance. Justine disappeared in a puff of dark mist and reappeared beside her as she struck. Emer scurried back to Xoana’s waiting arms.
Aisling sent in her Chespin without a moment’s hesitation and had Bree cover her more vulnerable underside to receive the next attack, before trussing up the tricky little creature with Vine Whip until she gave.
Félicité was not as easily ensnared and forced Bree back with Ember. The fire was lovely, to be sure, but Aisling had to douse it. Serena sustained her second shock of the battle when Bree sprouted rocks over her body and went for Félicité like a boulder coming down a mountain. The little fox went tumbling and staggered to her feet only to be struck out as Bree came back around.
It was all over Serena’s face: she had never lost before. Aisling was only too happy to give her that sorely needed experience. Xoana’s eyes had blown wide and Emer hopped back out of her arms to congratulate her teammate. Tierney and Tracie looked rather shocked as well. At least they all knew now.
“That was one hell of a ride, no?” Serena blinked at her, holding her bruised Fennekin in her arms. “Thanks for the battle, Comtesse.”
“Of course,” was all she could muster.
“We’ve gotta work on that Rollout, Bree. I think you can turn tighter than that.”
Bree nodded seriously, dusting the remaining rubble off her arms.
“That was some battle!” said Tierney.
“You were both so great!” Xoana jumped in.
Aisling accepted the compliments, but Serena was still too far away. She kneeled and looked over her two battered pokemon as she sprayed them down with a potion.
“Maybe we should train for a while longer before we challenge the gym,” she told them.
Completely destroyed. If Aisling could have given herself a high five, she would have.

Dan and Phil are actually outside for an extended period of time cause Pokemon Ch. 2
Summary: When he was 18, Phil Lester decided not to go on a Pokemon journey. But now he’s graduated university and he has no idea where his life is headed. So he decides to get a starter Pokemon and fly to the Kalos region to collect all eight badges and maybe figure out what to do with himself.
Dan Howell just graduated from high school and is not hesitating to start his Pokemon journey. He just wants to escape the little town he grew up in and maybe actually become something worthwhile.
Lets see what happens shall we?
word count: 2534
chapter 1 is here
if you prefer ao3
Warnings: None that I know of?
a/n: So here’s the second chapter of this incredibly self-indulgent fanfic. We meet Dan in this chapter who I think I write better than Phil? But idk, tell me what you think. Also big thank you to my beta @theflowerybean! reblogs are really appreciated
Dan hated the mornings more than anything else in the world. And that included himself, which was saying something. That being said, this was one thing he refused to be late for. He had waited 18 years for the chance to get out of this godforsaken town and he wasn’t about to throw away that chance because he slept in and the professor lost patience.
Slipping into a pair of black skinny jeans, Dan glanced at his reflection in the mirror leaning against his wall. No fringe gaps, no stains on his favourite eclipse t-shirt, and he had taken a shower last night. He was ready.
“I’m going into town!” Dan yelled back into the house, slipping on his shoes and throwing on a hoodie. There was no response but Dan didn’t yell it again. His parents knew where he was going anyways.
Walking out into the spacious yard, Dan let out a sharp whistle. Before long, pokemon started creeping out of the bushes and trees. “Hey guys,” Dan smiled, kneeling down next to an old flareon that had been nuzzling at his foot. “Hey girl, how’ve you been?” The flareon made a noise of contentment and Dan smiled, scratching behind her ears. “That’s good. I’m glad.
Before long, Dan was surrounded by almost twenty eeveelutions. His family ran a breeding and wellness center for eevee and their evolutions, and Dan had been helping out since he was old enough to walk. If there was one thing he was going to miss from this place, it was the eevees. Although…
“Where’s Loki?” he asked a nearby umbreon. The umbreon didn’t reply and Dan frowned, confused. Until that is, he was nearly knocked over by a ball of fluff that descended upon him from a nearby oak.
“Oof! Hey there Loki.” Dan managed to grab the eevee clinging to his hoodie by the scruff of their neck. Loki squeaked indignantly and tried to nip playfully at Dan’s fingers. Dan dumped Loki unceremoniously on the grass in front of him. “You know, if you keep attacking me like that, I might just leave you here,” Dan threatened jokingly. He would never actually leave Loki here. He had raised Loki from an egg, and the thought of leaving his best friend behind was preposterous.
Loki, despite knowing this, whined and drooped his ears in a way that they knew Dan found adorable. Dan sighed, ruffling the fur on top of Loki’s head. “Oh don’t you start with that innocent act. We both know you’re a little demon.”  Then again, Dan was sure he would be glad for Loki’s violent tendencies when he started challenging gym leaders.
“We should be going.” Dan grunted, pushing himself back into a standing position. Loki perked up immediately- the little faker – and clawed his way onto Dan’s shoulder like he was some kind of glorified tree. “Oh, so now you want to be friendly. Let’s get going then. Don’t want to leave the professor waiting.”         As Dan made his way down the long path to Aquacorde town, he zipped up his hoodie against the chilly morning air. He never did like getting up this early. But it was a small price to pay for a proper starter pokemon.
Dan’s family was a liaison of the Kalos science association. They helped with research on eevee and it’s evolutions. Though their part in that research came mainly in the form of providing large quantities of eevee to study. It did come with perks though. Turns out one such perk is professor Sycamore making a slight detour through Aquacorde town with three starter pokemon for Dan to choose from.
He needn’t have bothered bringing all three considering Dan had made his choice four years ago. But if the man wanted to carry around two extra pokeballs, Dan wasn’t about to tell him how to live his life.
Finally, Dan started to see the beige sandstone that made up literally all of Aquacorde town. Dan unconsciously picked up the pace,  his heart beating faster in his excitement. He had gotten his trainer card a few days ago, and once he got his registered starter,he would be able to leave. He could finally go somewhere, anywhere else.
Making his way down the sandstone streets, Dan prayed he wouldn’t see any of his old classmates. It was early enough in the morning that there were only a few people wandering around, but you never knew who could be lurking about. You’re almost gone Dan. This time tomorrow you’ll be gone and you won’t have to see anyone from this town ever again. He repeated his little mantra to himself as he made his way to the café where he had agreed to meet Sycamore.
He spotted the professor immediately upon walking into the town’s main square. He was seated at one of the café tables, sipping some hot beverage that Dan could really go for right about now. Then again, he was probably jittery enough already without caffeine in his system.
“Professor Sycamore?” Dan asked, startling the professor out of his thoughts.
“Ah, yes! My apologies. You must be Daniel?” Sycamore stood hurriedly, shaking Dan’s hand rather aggressively, in his humble opinion.
“Just Dan is fine. Thank you for meeting me here.” Dan tried to keep professional, despite feeling severely underdressed. Sycamore was wearing a full on lab coat, and Dan couldn’t help but remember that the professor came from Lumiose city, and Dan was born and raised on a glorified farm. Sycamore didn’t really seem to mind Dan’s appearance, shaking his head dismissively.
“Oh, it’s no trouble, truly! It’s quite exciting to be the one to see a new trainer off on their journey. And your parents have told me nothing but good things  about you.” Sycamore reassured. Although Dan was not entirely reassured, because if his parents had told Sycamore about him, then that meant that he had something to live up to. And historically, Dan was not good at living up to expectations.
“Come here my boy, have a seat. Do you want anything to drink? The cappuccinos here are delicious!” Dan sat down awkwardly across from Sycamore, who seemed way too enthusiastic for 7am.
“Um no that’s okay. I don’t really have any money on me so I can’t-“
“Oh don’t worry about it Daniel! I can buy your cappuccino. You must be very sleepy getting up so early in the morning.” The professor offered, before Dan could even finish his sentence.
“Just Dan is fine. And you really don’t have to, I’m not that sleepy, and I don’t want to be an inconvenience.” Despite Dan’s protests, Sycamore flagged down a nearby waiter and ordered two cappuccinos, seeing as he had finished his and apparently had some kind of crippling addiction.
“Now Daniel,” Sycamore started after their waiter went to fetch their coffee, “I’m not just here to drink cappuccinos by the river. I’m here because you just turned 18.” Dan nodded, leaning forward just a bit in anticipation. He had been looking forwards to this since his birthday a few weeks ago. It was hard to believe it was actually happening right now.
“And as we all know, when you turn 18, you are given the choice to receive your trainers license and start your pokemon journey. But of course, to do that you need an official starter, which is why I’m here today. To give you said starter.”
Sycamore reached down under his chair to pull out a very worn looking briefcase. He placed it on  the table just as the server arrived with their cappuccinos, which they both thanked her for, before turning their attention back onto the matter at hand.
Snapping open the latches on the briefcase, Sycamore continued his explanation. “Now I’m sure you already know what three starters we offer here in the Kalos region, but I am legally obligated to tell you, so I’ll keep it brief.” Sycamore opened the briefcase and removed three shrunken pokeballs, which he placed on the table between them.
“Try the cappuccino. You’ll love it.” Sycamore said, taking a sip of his own and letting out a sigh of contentment. Dan took a sip of his impatiently, almost burning his tongue. It was admittedly very good. But Dan wasn’t here to drink coffee, and he was starting to get a little bit impatient.                 “So, as you can see, there are three starters. The fire starter fennekin, the grass starter chespin, and the water starter froakie.” Sycamore listed off the starters as he released them each from their pokeballs. Dan had to move his cappuccino to avoid it being spilt in his lap by fennekin.
“Do you already know which one you want Daniel?”
“Dan’s fine.” Dan replied absentmindedly, “And yes, I do actually know which one I want.”
When Dan had started actually thinking seriously about becoming a pokemon trainer, the very first thing he had done was look at his starter choices. At first he had wanted fennekin. It was cute, and Dan already really loved fire types. But, comparing it to the other two, fennekin and its evolutions fell short.
Dan had considered chespin as well, and while he thought that it would be a decent choice, Dan ultimately decided that chespin just wasn’t very suited to the battling style Dan was starting to develop with Loki and the other eevee.
Froakie however, fit the bill perfectly. Not only did he seem like the most logical choice for Dan, he was also a frog. And you could never go wrong with a frog, is something that Dan has never said before in his life but is probably very true.
Dan reached out his hand to the little blue starter, smiling down at him. “Whadda ya think Froakie. Would you like to come with me?” Froakie croaked in excitement and jumped onto his arm, climbing up to sit on Dan’s only vacant shoulder. “I’ll take that as a yes then.”
“Do you have any plans for when you’re going to head out?” Sycamore asked, returning the other two pokemon to their respective balls, rifling again through his suitcase.
“I think I’m going to spend the rest of today packing and getting to know froakie a little bit better. Then tomorrow I’ll start making my way through santalune forest.” Dan had considered leaving immediately, and he had to admit it was tempting to just up and go. He had been waiting for this day for so long, and the thought that he had to wait any longer to get out of this stupid town was an unhappy one.
But he did have things he wanted to say goodbye to. Also, he still had a few things to pack before he left. He had waited this long, he could wait one more day.
“That sounds like a good plan Daniel. Now, here’s your pokedex and froakie’s pokeball. Although, he seems pretty comfy where he is. And here are five other pokeballs for you to use along your way.” Sycamore slid the objects across the table, and Dan picked up the red pokedex curiously. He’d seen them before, but he’d never had one of his own.
Dan and Sycamore talked for a while longer as they finished their cappuccinos. Sycamore seemed very interested in Dan’s plans, and Dan had to scramble to come up with anything meaningful. His plans consisted of “Leave home, go train pokémon, beat the gyms, elite four?” But that was starting to feel exceptionally juvenile.
He had no guarantee that he could defeat the gyms. He especially had no guarantee he could challenge the elite four. He was just some kid with no friends, no money, and no experience.  He also had no backup plan for if this whole pokemon trainer thing ended up being too much for him. And god, he had just accepted a pokemon. A pokemon who could have had the chance to go on a journey with a trainer who knew what they were doing. A trainer who wouldn’t have days where they couldn’t do more than roll over in bed. What had he just gotten them into?
Dan felt a familiar warmth press against his left cheek, grounding him. Loki rubbed their face affectionately against Dan’s , and he felt a small smile slip onto his face. Maybe he didn’t know what he was doing. But, he had Loki. And this new froakie, that he was going to have to figure out a name for very soon. They could get through this. He would figure something out.
“You have a good day Daniel.” Professor sycamore stood after paying their bill, sticking out his hand for Dan to shake.
“Just Dan is fine. And thank you for going out of your way to be here. And for the coffee. You’re very generous.”
“It’s no trouble. No trouble at all. I look forward to seeing how you progress as a trainer from here on out Daniel. You should come by my lab when you go through Lumios city, and we can catch up,” Sycamore gave Dan’s hand a good final shake before letting go to collect his briefcase.
“I would like that professor. I’ll see you then.”
With one final wave outside the café, the two went their separate ways. The sun had risen significantly while Dan had been talking to Professor Sycamore, and the streets were getting steadily more crowded. On a sunny Saturday morning like this, tons of people were going for morning walks, and Dan was weary of running into anyone he knew, especially from school.
Dan took a slightly roundabout route  through a few shady alleyways, before he finally reached the edge of town. Froakie had abandoned his perch on Dan’s shoulder en lieu of hopping jauntily alongside him. Loki however, was used to Dan’s walking patterns after so many years and stayed put, apparently too lazy to walk.
As they made their way back up the winding dirt road, Dan turned to look down at his starter pokemon, who was looking around frantically, trying to take in all that he could of the scenery.
“I think we need to give you a name, don’t we?” Dan pondered, and froakie croaked in agreement.  “Alright, how about Fenrir. No no, that’s weird, uh… Collin? No that’s also weird…”
Dan spent the rest of the walk listing off dozens of names. Often times, he would veto them himself before they were even fully out of his mouth. And a few of the ones he did like didn’t seem to work quite as well for froakie himself. By the time the house started coming into sight, Dan was on the verge of loosing hope.
“Ugh, god I don’t know. How about Dante?” It was a little strange, Dan had to admit. It was more a human name than a pokemon name, although that didn’t much matter to him. And if froakies excited croak was anything to go by, he also liked the name.
“So we’re gonna go with Dante?” Froakie croaked in agreement and Dan grinned a little bit. “Finally, we’ve got you a name. Welcome aboard Dante. Let’s hope I don’t mess this whole thing up.”

oc masterpost
uhh so with the oc question thing i reposted i realized i’ve never actually made a masterpost of my characters, so here it is! it’s going to be a long one, so everything of importance is under the keep reading.
each character will have their own little info blurb (length depends on how developed they are and how much i have to say about them)
this post will also be linked in the bio of this blog and on my art blog (( @sazand0ra )) so if i reblog an oc question post and you want to ask something, you can just pop back and look! ❤
PKMN TRAINERS
Phika “Phoenix” Artemovich
Phika is an Interpol agent, rank Superintendent, who lives in Jubilife City. She started on her Pokémon journey around Sinnoh when she was 10, traveling for about six-seven years and visiting Johto and Kanto in the process. She joined Interpol when she was 17 and has been working there for 12 years (she’s 29 as of right now).
She’s not the most mentally strong (she cries very easily), as work leaves her stressed and sleep-deprived, though she always tries to perform her best. On top of that, she also believes that she was cursed by Darkrai when she was 19 -- though she doesn’t dare let anyone in Sinnoh know because of how superstitious people are. Phika is very kind and gentle, earning her the codename “Agent Mother,” and is very protective of her friends, family, and Pokémon.
PKMN Team: Infernape (starter), Luxray, Gengar, Milotic, Togekiss, Steelix
Bella Émilie
Bella is a Pokémon trainer from Courmarine City in the Kalos region. She ran away from home at age 14 after receiving a Froakie from Professor Sycamore (he made a special visit to Courmarine City to talk to her about being a trainer w/o her mom’s knowledge). As a result, Bella is fiercely independent and almost unbearably stubborn -- she’s also carrying along quite the superiority complex with her, hiding deep-seated feelings of inferiority with a cold and aggressive exterior.
She ended up taking on Team Flare as per the plot of X/Y, though she never really got along with the main friend group (Calem, Shauna, Tierno, and Trevor). Her and Calem also had their own rivalry, though she never thought of it as one because of how easily she beat him down every time they battled (her superiority complex shone through whenever they interacted). However, as of now, nine years later (she’s 23), she’s mellowed out some, though those feelings of inferiority haven’t quite gone away. Bella’s also close friends with Phika and may or may not have a small crush on her (she does), though she does tend to worry about how little Phika takes care of herself.
PKMN Team: Greninja (starter), Talonflame, Sylveon, Haxorus, Lucario, Meowstic
Lyssa Ahreiz-Ridecki
Lyssa is a mechanic from Goldenrod City in the Johto region. She wasn’t really that interested in Pokémon battling when she was growing up, and preferred to spend time in her dad’s workshop, helping him to tinker with and fix machines, and go around the city with him fixing appliances and other things for people. As a result, she became a mechanic herself, establishing a name for herself in Goldenrod City and the surrounding area (her father is very proud of her for that).
However, her talent unintentionally got her caught up in organized crime. Lyssa was recruited by the Pokémon Pinchers to work as a mechanic for them, fixing their Control Gauntlets and Z. Z. Flyers. Though she wasn’t told at first everything about the devices she was fixing, Lyssa eventually figured out what was going on and tried her best to throw a wrench in the works (figuratively) whenever she could. Eventually, as the leadership of the Pinchers began to break down, she left -- and ended up getting a little more into Pokémon battling, after realizing that she might need to be able to defend herself better in the future. Right now, she’s caught up with an android named Robyn and Silph Co, but that’s still developing.
PKMN Team: Pidgeot (starter), Ambipom, Drowzee, Honchkrow
Robyn
Robyn is an android created by Silph Co. that currently resides in an apartment in Goldenrod City. Her main purpose is to spy on residents in the city and steal their info, then transmit it back to Silph Co for their own purposes. She also goes out and gambles with the money she steals from people -- while no one has figured out yet that she’s actually a robot, there are some regulars at the Game Corner who are starting to get suspicious of this short, white-haired girl who’s apparently some sort of gambling genius.
Her apartment room was discovered accidentally by Lyssa, who followed her home after seeing her in the Game Corner, and soon figured out that she was in fact, some sort of robot. She tried to mess around with Robyn’s circuitry, not knowing who made Robyn, and now has a target painted on her back by Silph Co.
PKMN Team (for defense): Porygon-Z, Meowth, Espeon
Nicky Griffin
Nicky is from a large, large, large performing family in Castelia City, Unova. She grew up playing the violin and learning to dance, taught by her grandmother and two older sisters. She’s the fourth out of eleven siblings, and has too many cousins, aunts, and uncles for her to keep straight. Because she’s not the oldest, or the youngest, or the best performer, Nicky turned to street art to try and distinguish herself -- her alias is Nee-Coletti -- and while her family doesn’t know about her “other hobby”, at least not totally, they probably wouldn’t mind (at least she hopes so). She also does a lot of street performance, playing her violin while her Pokémon dance -- something they’ll also do in battle.
She left on her journey initially to return a Pokédex that Bianca lost when she was visiting Castelia City, and went to Aspertia City, since she’d heard that’s where Bianca was heading. By the time she got to Aspertia City, Bianca had left, though she was able to get some mentoring from Cheren, and ended up getting her first Gym Badge from him. They’re still friends, and will call on the X-Tranceiver when they have the time. Nicky’s also friends with Bianca, who she met after finally returning the Pokédex -- they get along great!
PKMN Team: Lopunny (starter), Mienshao, Scrafty, Emolga, Roserade, Floatzel
Alexandra “Alex” Rye
Alex is a Pokémon Trainer from Lentimas Town in Unova and is the third oldest out of five kids (she’s the exact middle child and she’s not super happy about that). She grew up putting on puppet shows for her younger siblings and other kids in town with dolls she made herself, and eventually started making her own clothing as well. She was hurt in a landslide when she was about 13, delaying the start of her journey for a year, and now walks with a slight limp as a result.
She loves ghost and dark pokemon (her team is made up of conventionally “scary” pokemon), from time she’d spend in the Strange House outside of Lentimas Town. In fact, that’s where she met her first Pokémon, Banette, who just followed her home one day. They’ve been friends ever since. However, to other people, she’s not as nice -- Alex is perpetually bored with her life, and will usually mess with other people (stealing their things, scamming them with magic tricks, etc) with the help of her Pokémon for a little bit of excitement.
PKMN Team: Banette (starter), Mismagius, Hydreigon, Galvantula, Drapion, Zoroark
Nova Roscoe
Nova’s a coordinator from Slateport City, in the Hoenn region. She’s still a little inexperienced, since she’s young, but more than makes up for it with enthusiasm! She also loves coordinating her Pokémon’s outfits with hers when they perform -- sometimes she’ll buy plain dresses and sparkle them up a bit just for fun. (i don’t have that much for Nova,,, she’s one of my least developed characters so there’s that)
PKMN Team: Dustox (starter), Froslass, Skitty, Natu
Juno Xe
Juno is a florist who took over running her parents’ flower shop in Konikoni City. She’s not much of a fan of battling, but did take on the island challenge with her twin brother, Yarrow, at the urging of their parents -- it’s tradition, after all, so they should at least do it (they couldn’t stay in the shop forever)! For the most part, Juno’s very good with handling customers, though her phony-sweet “customer service” voice will start slipping out when she gets annoyed -- with customers or her brother.
She has a huge fear of losing people/saying goodbye after her older sister was caught in an accident involving Team Skull. Her parents never told her the entire truth of what happened (that her sister was actually part of Team Skull), though regardless, the incident left her terrified of losing people close to her. As a result, she can be unintentionally controlling and toxic -- something that Yarrow experienced first hand while he was still back at the family’s flower shop.
PKMN Team: Dartrix (starter), Stoutland, Oricorio, Espeon, Liligant, Alomamola
Yarrow Xe
Unlike his twin sister, Yarrow abandoned the family’s flower shop in favor of wandering aimlessly through the various regions in the Pokémon world. He enjoyed taking on the island challenge and relished the freedom that he was given while traveling -- making coming back to the flower shop incredibly difficult. The expectation of their parents is that the two of them would complete the island challenge and then come back to manage the shop, and while Juno was fine with that, Yarrow was completely opposed to it.
However, he was easily taken advantage of and manipulated by Juno when he tried to leave. Yarrow had (and still has) emotional trauma left over from when their sister died that he never worked through properly, or even acknowledged, leaving him emotionally unavailable and unable to express himself properly (though that last part goes back to when he was a child). He eventually broke away after the two of them had a huge fight, and never looked back -- he doesn’t even like going back to Alola, if he can help it. He’s stubbornly independent and tries his best to keep people away from him (emotionally and physically), and is a fierce competitor in battle. Yarrow’s noticeably gentler around his Pokémon, and sometimes opens up to them -- though this is only because they can’t actually say anything back to him that he would understand.
PKMN Team: Decidueye (starter), Tsareena, Umbreon, Alolan Raichu, Bewear, Komala
MYSTERY DUNGEON (they’re all gijinkas btw)
also spoilers for all of the mystery dungeon games below
Merrie (Psyduck)
Merrie is the hero of Pokémon Blue/Red Rescue Team (i’ve only ever played blue but i’d assume the two are the same) and the co-leader of Rescue Team Feathers! She’s a a bit of a glutton, and will sometimes snack on apples while she and Chica are exploring dungeons together. Because she’s a Psyduck, she’s prone to getting bad headaches, especially if she doesn’t use the move Confusion a lot in battle. She’s also incredibly clumsy and forgetful -- she sometimes forgets that she used to be a human in the first place.
Moveset: Water Gun, Scratch, Ice Beam, Confusion
Chica (Combusken)
Chica is the sidekick of B/R Rescue Team, though because of Merrie’s forgetfulness, she manages a lot of the team stuff and job requests. It was her idea to form a rescue team, though sometimes she wonders if joining forces with Merrie was such a good idea. She can come of as very brusque and guarded if you catch her at a bad time, but she is very protective of Merrie (though this usually shows through her rolling her eyes and scolding Merrie for getting into whatever trouble’s going on this time).
Moveset: Flamethrower, Attract, Brick Break, Peck
Siobhán // Soren (Charmander)
Soren is the hero of Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky, and the co-leader of Team Chikomander. She carries around a bat with a few odds and ends stuck in it as a weapon, and is usually very quick to anger, especially if those she’s close to are threatened. For the most part, she’s sweet and helpful, and genuinely enjoys her job as a member of Wigglytuff’s Guild -- though she does argue with Chatot about the whole money thing from time to time.
The reason she has two different names is because when she was in the future, her name was Siobhán -- she also wasn’t a human, but a weird mash of Darkrai after the Dimensional Hole he was traveling in was attacked by Palkia (this video is where this whole thing comes from and since i personally really like this theory, it’s now soren’s backstory). When she arrived in the past and met Rita, she didn’t want to give her name to a complete stranger, so she said her name was Soren. This caused some confusion when Grovyle was introduced to the mix, and it was revealed that the two of them used to work together in the future.
Moveset: Flamethrower, Slash, Shadow Claw, Sunny Day
Rita (Chikorita)
Rita is the partner of EOTDS and the other co-leader of Team Chikomander. She’s a big bookworm, and likes to keep books in their bedroom at the guild (though she sometimes worries that Soren will set them on fire by accident). Her weapon of choice is a green tome that she uses to summon grass attacks -- she doesn’t really need it, but it makes her more confident in battle. Rita can be a bit of a coward sometimes, and is known for being bossy, but she does try her best as an explorer (and to keep Soren out of trouble).
Moveset: Solar Beam, Magical Leaf, Light Screen, Synthesis
Úrsula (Dewott)
Úrsula is the hero of Gates to Infinity, and the co-leader of The Hydroclaw, handling most of the jobs and other requests (her weapon of choice is a naginata). She came to the Pokémon world from Venice, Italy, though at this point she doesn’t remember much about her life in the human world. Soon after she came to the Pokémon world, she convinced Axel to go and talk to Quagsire about buying the land he wanted even though his money had been stolen a hours ago (this is all a different au where Quagsire is still part of the underground so some things are a little different). She’s stubborn and incredibly loyal to her friends, almost to a fault -- she’d do anything for them, so she can be easy to take advantage of if you get close enough to her. One of her favorite pastimes is cooking, and she’ll sometimes get up early in the morning to cook breakfast for everyone, just to show she cares. She expresses a lot of emotions through cooking and food.
Moveset: Water Pulse, Razor Shell, Pursuit, Fury Cutter
Axel (Fraxure)
Axel is the partner of GTI, and the other co-leader of The Hydroclaw, handling the development and building of Paradise. He comes off as intimidating to many -- partly because he’s a dragon type, partly because he carries around an axe with him. However, as a surprise to some, he’s actually gentle and kindhearted for the most part, though he still does have some lessons to learn in terms of friendships and other emotional connections (and Quagsire’s going to make sure he learns those lessons at some point). He also really likes Úrsula. Like, really, really likes her. The two of them are practically joined at the hip.
Moveset: Dragon Dance, Dual Chop, Pursuit, Dragon Claw
Ramona “Rara” (Treecko)
Ramona is the hero of Super Mystery Dungeon, and the co-leader of The Ash-Roses. She’s mute and communicates through her own form of sign language, as well as written notes. Between her and Cinders, she handles a lot of the logistics of the team, including packing travel bags and planning their explorations. She still struggles with the aftermath of the Dark Matter incident, and blames herself for not seeing what was going on with Nuzleaf sooner.
dark matter au ramona: in this au, ramona ends up falling under the control of dark matter along with nuzleaf. dark matter is able to take advantage of her insecurities about her place in serene village and feelings of resentment towards some of the other villagers. it’s found out she’s being controlled by dark matter on the top of revelation mountain, and instead of going to the voidlands with cinders, she works with nuzleaf, yveltal, and the beheyeem going around and turning Pokémon to stone.
Moveset: Giga Drain, Energy Ball, Dragon Breath, Pursuit
Cinders (Cyndaquil)
Cinders is the partner of PSMD, and the other co-leader of The Ash-Roses. He’s cheerful, chatty, and has a tendency to get himself and Ramona into trouble very often. Cinders is also really passionate about exploration -- like really, really passionate, to the point of near obsession -- and will sometimes get ahead of himself when it comes to exploring new places. Since he’s also the reincarnation of Mew (or whatever that whole thing was it was a blur for me tbh), he also has the ability to read people’s minds, though this happens sporadically. He’ll usually say the thoughts he hears from others out loud, or respond to them as if it was part of the conversation. This usually freaks people out quite a bit.
dark matter au cinders: cinders is pretty much the same throughout this au until it’s revealed that ramona is under the control of dark matter. from that point on, he’s more frightened and desperate than normal cinders, and becomes much more subdued after the whole dark matter incident blows over. he and ramona don’t really have the same kind of friendship that they had before, either.
Moveset: Flame Wheel, Double Kick, Quick Attack, Ember
OTHER
these two are from a world that i was working on with a friend a while back. we aren’t doing anything with said world anymore, but i decided to keep these two around and develop them (and hopefully their world) a little bit more, because i was already attached to them by the time we stopped working.
for some basic background info: polaris and gabriel are from a nomadic tribe up in the north of the world called eira-taith. one of the traditions of the tribe is that, to be considered an adult, you have to travel on your own for one year and then return. when polaris went out on his journey, he came back to find everyone dead. gabriel was technically the only survivor because he had ran away in search of polaris before everyone else was wiped out. as of right now, they just wander around the world together -- they don’t really have a place to go.
Polaris Eider
Polaris is the oldest out of six in his family. Because he was the oldest, he was treated as a “third parent,” and given the responsibility of looking after his younger siblings before he left on his year-long travel. He would force down his own feelings and problems to properly be able to take care of everyone else, and as a result, isn’t the most emotionally expressive. He’s not very talkative, and usually has a stern expression on his face. Polaris is also a skilled archer -- however, that’s about all he can do in terms of weaponry.
Gabriel Eider
Gabriel is the second oldest out of six -- meaning that after Polaris left, he would be the one in charge of taking care of all of their younger siblings, at the age 14. He ended up cracking under the pressure and anxiety of Polaris not surviving on his own, and ran away, fortunately right before their tribe was wiped out. At some point, he was attacked by a group of bandits and was blinded, losing both of his eyes. His anxieties only worsened afterwards, though he tries his best to hide that and his blindness through being combative, stubborn, and overly-dramatic at some times, much to Polaris’ chagrin. Before losing his sight, he could use both a bow and arrow and daggers, though he’s not able to do all that much now.

Now All My Charms are O’erthrown Pt. 4
{Part 1}  {Part 2}  {Part 3}
Hogwarts AU because I’m ridiculous and I love it.
“Caught this Ravenclaw spying on our tryouts.  What should we do with him, Cynthia?”
“Augustine?  What are you… It’s fine.  Leave him to me.”  The two boys let go of Augustine’s shoulders and gave him back his broomstick.  “And Froakie.”  The blue frog was unceremoniously handed over.  He was about to sling some frubbles at his captors but his trainer quickly stopped him with a hushed “Froakie no.”
Augustine looked sheepishly at his long time friend Cynthia.  “Hey Cyn… I wasn’t spying; I just wanted to see my friend’s tryout today.”
“Yah, that’s how most people would describe ‘spying.’  How did you even find us?  This place is a secret to everyone but Professor Ivy.  We all got here by portkey.  I don’t even know exactly where we are!”
“Well, Serena said it was a secret location, and Lysandre said that Gryffindor is the only team that doesn’t use any of the main pitches for tryouts, and Red said—Red didn’t say much really, he’s pretty quiet—but he indicated that he didn’t know where it was, so that meant that none of you flew here, otherwise you would know.  You can’t apparate on Hogwarts so that was out of the question.  It would surely be outside, so floo powder wouldn’t work.  It would have to be something that multiple people could use but wouldn’t be obvious or easy to stumble upon.  So as a matter of deduction, you would have to travel by portkey.”
“Okay, that doesn’t explain how you found it though.”
“Oh, right.  Well, even though you can travel quite a distance with a portkey, it would make the most sense to still be on Hogwarts grounds. So I went through Hogwarts: A History looking for any text on the Hogwarts grounds and how they may have changed over the years.  And then I went through some of the archival maps of Hogwarts and eliminated all pitches where you would be able to see the castle and then I came to the final three it could be last week and one hosts the whomping willow, so that could be it. The other was pretty overrun with spiders, but otherwise in passable condition.  And then there was this one.  It was still a guess, but I thought it might be a bit much—even for a Gryffindor—to make students play quidditch in a spider nest.”
“You know Augustine, you’ve done an awful lot of spy work for someone who isn’t spying.”  He blushed, realizing now that he had said it all out loud that it did sound awfully like espionage.  “I’m glad that we’re on the same side; I’d hate to have you for an enemy.  It’s good to see you with a broomstick again.”  She smiled at him and his tension eased. “Serena, you said?  She’s the first year, yah?  We usually get one each year: girls who want to get close to Red.  There’s another first year trying out too.  Maybe he also wants a glimpse at our legendary captain?”
“I can’t say for sure about Calem, but I don’t think Serena is here for Red.  She has her own hero that she’s desperate to meet.  She’s quite brilliant at flying; don’t count her out just yet.”
“Cynthia!  The recruits are here!”
“I’ve got to go.  You can stay and watch, but just try to stay out of the way, alright?”
“Thank you!”  Augustine and Froakie scurried off to find a spot to watch without getting in the way.
Serena was ecstatic.  Not only was she going to try out for the Gryffindor quidditch team, she was also going to see the Cynthia up close!  She might even play quidditch with her!  Or better yet, she might play against her!  Okay Serena, don’t be weird.  She probably doesn’t remember you and you need to be somewhat normal or you’ll never be able to talk to her at all.
“Good morning recruits—“
“GOOD MORNING!”  Nailed it
“Uhh, yes.  Good morning.  Today is the day you have all been anticipating since birth. Gryffindors are brave.  We are daring.  But most of all we are kind.  You may scoff, thinking that kindness is a trait reserved for Hufflepuffs, but there is great courage in kindness.  There is great bravery in swallowing one’s pride—that we have so much of—and great strength in shaking the hand of those who have defeated you. And that is what we do, for we are noble and true.  To this end, I want you each to shake the hand of the other.  For today, there will be some who emerge victorious and claim a spot in our team and represent our house and all it stands for, and there will be those who do not.  To you who do not make the team, I congratulate you.  For you will be the first Gryffindors of this year to show our strength and bravery; you will be the first to demonstrate the great dignity and nobility of loss.  To the rest, I ask you to follow the example set by your fellow recruits.  And now we begin.”
Serena was blinking in wide –eyed admiration of everything Cynthia had just said.  She was so in awe, she failed to realize the students around her waiting for her to shake their hands.  Calem jabbed her in the ribs.  The pain jolted her awake and she began enthusiastically meeting everyone around her.  When they stepped onto the pitch, she was overtaken again by her surroundings and her idol.  Several veterans of the team appeared around Cynthia; Serena heard dreamy sighs escaping some of the recruits when Red appeared.
“Alright recruits, our tryouts will be for all positions.  Come sign up for the position you are trying out for.  There will be multiple games; you can sign up for more than one position.”
Serena knew what she wanted: anything but seeker.  She found that seekers were removed from the team and that they just hung around not doing anything while the rest of the team actually played the game.  She secretly referred to them as “attention-seekers”; her father laughed about it, but her mother Grace did not approve. Serena wanted to be a beater but she would also settle for chaser.  In truth, Cynthia played both and would switch based on the rest of the team.  Grace knew Cynthia’s father, and had brought Serena with her once to watch Cynthia play.  Her flying was both beautiful and efficient; there was not a wasted breath in her movements.  Serena wanted to see her play as chaser again.
After a moment, teams were announced, red and gold jerseys were passed out and put on, and positions were discussed.  Serena and Calem were both in gold jerseys.
“Alright Serena, you will be a beater with me.”
Serena stared at Cynthia, mouth agape.  Cynthia handed her a bat.  She accepted it, still silent and mostly paralyzed.  She came to her senses when a bubble landed on her nose and popped in her face.  She turned to find the source and saw a sheepish Augustine and his Froakie waving at her from the sidelines.  Cynthia glared at the two of them but they didn’t notice; Serena was waving excitedly and blowing kisses their way.  “Thank you! I look forward to playing by your side!” She shook her hand confidently and took her place on the pitch.
The red team had taken an early lead, but Serena was holding up pretty well as beater.  Calem was playing as a chaser and was confident that Serena would defend him.  He played in a riskier manner than the other team, whose chasers kept a cautious eye on the bludgers flying about.  “They work well together…” Augustine noted.  He was engaged in the game and couldn’t keep his eyes off the pair.  He wasn’t quite sure how it made him feel, but he also noticed that Froakie bubbled up whenever Calem got too close to Serena.  Augustine was glad to see that she was back to her normal self.  But it was kind of fun to see her so star struck.  He would have to tease her about it later.
Calem and Serena quickly made themselves the stand out players; flying at times in tandem.  They were next to one another now, knees almost touching, Serena on his left side.  A bludger flew in from the right.  In a seamless motion, she flew up and over him as he dropped under her, switching sides and flying evenly before she hit the bludger away and he made a goal while red’s keeper was busy watching their mid air maneuvering.  Everyone was a bit preoccupied with the spectacle when Augustine spotted what he thought to be the golden snitch.
It certainly was small, golden in appearance, and flying about erratically, but its movements were too slow.  A mighty gust of wind blew through the pitch and the tiny flying thing was tossed about. He heard a tiny “teeeeeee!” and knew it wasn’t the snitch.  Froakie pawed at him nervously.  It must be a Pokémon and it was definitely in trouble.  It was swept up amongst the game, Augustine watched as the tiny creature tried to fly but kept getting caught in the air streams of the players. It was bandied about until the poor thing fainted and started to fall.  A bludger was headed straight for it.
“Serena!”  Augustine cried out.  “Beneath you!  You have to help it!”
Almost immediately she spotted it.  She started flying towards it, but knew she couldn’t make it in time on her broom. She saw that Calem was close and called out to him, “Calem!  Catch!” She held her bat between her teeth and brought her feet up so that she was standing crouched on her broom. Quickly she spun so that she was now hanging upside down before she launched towards the tiny Pokémon, kicking off from her broom to give herself extra thrust.  She dove headlong towards the ground, hands outstretched to catch the poor thing, praying that she would get there before the bludger.  She caught it moments before the bludger and quickly took the bat out of her mouth and swatted it away.  Now in a freefall she looked for Calem.  He had the quaffle and was beneath her.  She returned her bat to her teeth and tucked away her new friend into her pocket.  Now that her hands were free, she turned so that she was parallel to the ground and grabbed onto him as he approached.  She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and pulled herself into a sitting position behind him.  Calem stayed strong and still as she lowered herself onto the broom.  Even though he absorbed most of her fall and channeled it through his broom, it still lowered significantly with the added weight caught in mid air.  The two worked together to bring it back up before crashing into the pitch below. Serena’s broom fell from where she had dismounted, now that no rider was keeping it afloat.  She grabbed it as it fell.  The two were airborne once again.
Augustine’s heart was in his throat while watching the scene play out above him.  When he saw them return to the skies, he shouted and cheered. He picked up Froakie and the two spun around in happy celebration.
“Just what do you think you were doing back there?!”
“I had to save it!  It was hurt!”  Her final word was punctuated by the smack of a bludger.  It hurtled back at the pair.
“Merlin’s beard Serena, if you’re going to be a beater, you have to actually beat it.”
“Yah, my hands are a little full over here.  And you’re like in my way, so I can’t really get a good swing.”
“I’m in the way.  I save your life and I’m the one in the way?!”
“Yes!”  Another smack, this one more feeble than the first.  The bludger was coming back yet again.  Calem sighed audibly and took the bat from Serena and handed her the quaffle.  As the bludger approached he gave it a thorough whack.  The second bludger was lobbied toward them by a red beater.  He smiled smugly at her as he readied to hit the next one.
“Wow, look how powerful a swing can be when you can follow through.  Also, don’t hit that one, lean left when I say.  Aaaaaaand now!”  The two leaned in unison, their combined weight rapidly lowering the broom and revealing a red chaser who was trying to pry the quaffle away.  The bludger hit its target who began to fall.  Froakie created a soft bed of frubbles to gently catch the fallen chaser.  Madame Joy and Professor Ivy were both waiting nearby to attend to any injuries.
The two weaved about, audibly complaining about the other, but still working in perfect harmony.  As they approached the goal posts, Serena shifted. “I guess this is my stop!  9 o’clock once I’m off.”  Quaffle in one hand, broomstick in the other, she took off. Calem batted away the oncoming bludger. Serena’s broom was flying once more, but its rider was hanging beneath it.  She threw the quaffle, scoring another goal for the gold team before pulling herself up onto her broomstick.  Calem tossed her the bat and the two resumed the game.
Though the red team was down one chaser, their seeker caught the snitch and they won the game.  The sting of defeat coursed through Serena as she smiled brightly and shook the hands of her teammates and the opposing team members.  By the time she got to Cynthia, she no longer felt any bitterness and was just so happy to have played alongside her idol that she could say in earnest, “Great game!”
Cynthia was less excited. “And what exactly was that?!  You and your boyfriend were just out here to show off and nearly kill yourselves??!”
“Gross.  He’s not my boyfriend.”
“What were you doing?!”
Augustine had run over and made it just in time to hear Serena getting scolded.  “Cyn!  It’s my fault.  I was the one…”
“Augustine Sycamore I told you to stay out of the way!”
“This!  It was because of… this.”  Serena pulled a small, fluffy, yellow creature from her pocket. “Gus saw that it was hurt and it was in trouble.  So I caught it.  I’m sorry that I caused such a riot, but I couldn’t just let it get smashed.”
Professor Ivy stepped up and examined Serena’s hand.  “Oh my, a Cutiefly.  How on earth did it get all the way out here?”
“Will it be alright?”
“It looks a bit stunned.” She sprayed it with a potion. “But it should be just fine.”  The Cutiefly immediately perked up and flew to nuzzle Serena’s cheek.  It settled softly back into her hand.
“It’s so cute!  I love it!”
“Well frankly, I think we’ve seen enough from the two of you.  You can both escort Brendan back to the hospital wing with Madame Joy.  Your tryouts are concluded.  Augustine, I suggest you go with them.”
“Thanks a lot Serena…” Calem muttered as they walked away.
Madame Joy set up Brendan, the chaser from the red team who had been knocked down by a bludger, in a hospital bed and left Serena and Calem to look after him.  Brendan was a second year, about the same height as Calem, and was known to be a bit of a goofball.
“I guess I won’t make the team again this year, huh?”
“You and me both,” Calem sighed and gave Serena cold side eye.  Serena fed Cutiefly an Oran berry and stuck her tongue out at him.
“Are you kidding me? They’d be crazy not to pick you two! You guys were something to see out there.  I mean, I’m not even mad that you hit me with that bludger.”
“Hey hey hey,” Serena chimed in, “We didn’t hit you with it; we simply let it hit you.”
“Oh yah, big difference.”
“It is!  One is intentional, one is… inertia.  Besides, you should have been watching, then you could have dodged.”
“Sorry, you see I was distracted by this girl who jumped off her broom in the middle of a quidditch game. I thought she must be completely mental, but then she had an equally mental accomplice who caught her out of the sky like he had been doing it his entire life.”  Brendan cocked his head to the side and raised his eyebrows at her. His expression made Calem stop his pouting and break into a laugh.  “How did you guys manage that so well anyway?”
“Well, you see…”
“It’s not important.” Serena cut him off abruptly. Cutiefly had finished its Oran berry and settled on Serena’s shoulder for a nap.
“Serena, I…”
“And you!  A word.”  She pointed to Augustine, then aggressively pointed toward a curtained off partition.  Brendan and Calem shared a glance: this was going to be good.
“Serena, I’m sorry.  I didn’t mean to mess up your quidditch tryout. I know how excited you’ve been for it. And I’m just… I’m…”
“Stretch!  How could you?!  You knew how long I’ve been talking about this and you!  You!”
“Serena, I know, I’m sor—“
“You didn’t tell me you knew Cynthia!!  And that you are so close that you two have nicknames!  All this time?  All this time?!  And nothing? Not one word?  Rude!”  She squeezed his shoulders roughly, then shook him back and forth a bit.  He was stunned by her questions more than by her actions.  She growled and stormed off before returning to his side and punching him in the arm. Relief flooded over him, temporarily drowning out the pain of her punches.  He was worried that he had lost a friend.
“Serena, I’m sorry I messed up your tryouts.”
“What?  Oh that?  Don’t worry about that.  If you weren’t there, I wouldn’t have known about sweet Cutiefly here, and who knows what would have happened?  I’d ruin a hundred quidditch tryouts before letting anything so precious get hurt.”
“Serena!  I heard you were in the infirmary; how did the tryouts go?” Shauna asked, a bit breathless from having run all the way from the Gryffindor common room.  Calem growled.
“Allow me to fill you in. Calem is mad at Serena for getting them kicked out of tryouts.  Serena is mad at… Augustine, was it?  Augustine because he didn’t tell her he was best buds with Cynthia.  And I am being perfectly respectable and am not mad at any of them.  Even though Serena hit me with a bludger and Augustine’s frog disqualified me from the game.”
Shauna gasped.  “You know Cynthia?!  And you never said anything?  That’s not very polite Augustine.”
“That’s the part you get hung up on?  What about Serena hitting me with a bludger?”
“One, I didn’t hit you with it; I let it hit you. Two, Shauna is still learning about quidditch, so she might not know everything you’re talking about.  Three, Froakie didn’t disqualify you.  You would have hit the ground anyway; it just would have hurt more if he hadn’t caught you with frubbles.”  She turned to Shauna.  “Besides all of that, look at my new Pokémon!”  She tilted her head so that her hair fell off to the side, exposing Cutiefly.
“It’s so cute!  But what is it?”
“Professor Ivy said it was a Cutiefly; I’ve never seen one before.  I can’t wait to introduce it to Fennekin!  Unrelated, I’m starving.  Are you boys hungry?  Shauna and I will go round up some snacks.”
“Didn’t you jinx your pockets so you could always carry snacks with you?  We’re supposed to stay here.”
“I’m not wearing my robes, so I don’t have any of my snacks.  And we are supposed to take care of Brendan.  Brendan,” she said, turning on her heel towards the injured boy, all sweet smiles and fluttering eyelids, “don’t you think a hearty snack would cheer you right up?  You’ve been hurt and need to recover.  Surely a sandwich, or some soup, or some cookies would help soothe your wounds?” She smiled coyly, her eyes downcast before fluttering open at him from below.  Brendan felt his cheeks flush and attempted a yes, but only sputtered while nodding in agreement.
“Great!  Shauna, let’s go!  Quick, tell me what you want.”  She pulled Shauna out the door as Augustine tried to ask for cucumber sandwiches for him and Froakie, but his words caught in his throat before he could say them. Brendan was still too stunned to answer. Calem started but was cut off abruptly. “Too late we’re outside and can’t hear you.  I hope you like cucumber sandwiches!  Byeeeee…” The door to the infirmary closed softly behind the two girls.
“Oy, she is a whirlwind,” Brendan said, having recovered his ability to speak.
“That’s one word you could use.”
Augustine nodded softly in agreement with the other boys.  He was certain Calem was thinking of harsher words for their friend, but he thought whirlwind was in the right vein.  However, Serena didn’t seem like wind to him.  She was more real than that.  A consuming presence.  Water she was not.  Perhaps, fire?  She was elemental to be sure.  The more he thought of Serena as fire, the more he liked the likening.  He considered sharing it with the others, but was hesitant.  He didn’t know Brendan and he barely spoke to Calem.  He thought that Lysandre would know what to say or definitely Diantha would know how to break the silence.  He must have been squeezing Froakie too tightly while contemplating because the small frog bubbled up in self-defense, covering Augustine in bubbles in the process.
The bubbles woke him from his thoughts.  Brendan looked up first and burst out laughing.
“What happened?!  That treacherous frog trying to take you down too?”
Calem looked over to see a tower of bubbles where Augustine once stood.  He broke into a laugh as well and tried to help pull him out. They got through, both a bit sudsy, but the tower remained.  The three boys all burst into fits of giggles.  None could describe why the scene was so funny to their friends later, but they would all start laughing till tears streamed down their faces when they remembered it.  Madame Joy entered the infirmary with a chorus of laughter ringing out.
“While laughter is the best medicine, I must ask you to keep it down; this is a hospital you know.” She smiled kindly as she said it and the boys did their best to stifle their laughs, but when she turned towards the bubble tower, they lost it again.  She shook her head and clicked her tongue at them.  Boys, she thought to herself, Arceus bless them.  She suddenly realized Serena was not among them.
“Where is Serena?  She was supposed to stay here.”
“I’m here!”  Serena and Shauna rushed in.  She placed their bounty on Brendan’s bed.  “Brendan said he was hungry, so I went to the kitchen to get him some food.  You know what they say, ‘When you suffer from a wound, healing comes through eating food.’”
“No one says that…” Serena covertly kicked Calem in the shin.  “Ow!”
“Oh no, Calem needs something to eat too.  Good thing we brought back all these snacks.”  She and Shauna had brought a veritable spread.  There were the promised cucumber sandwiches, a variety of fruits and vegetables, a few cookies, and plenty of pumpkin juice for the five students.
Madame Joy smiled resignedly, “Well, clean up when you’re down and be sure to return the plates to the kitchen.”
“We will!”  The group happily began splitting their feast. Serena pointed to the small mound of bubbles still on the floor.  “What happened there?”
The boys broke down in laughter once again.
