#i don't really like writing dialogue because i ain't good at it so i wrote it like this

I was about to sit down and watch season 2 of Punisher, but all three of my favorite fictional men were in my head again bickering. So I wrote whatever the hell that is below the cut for those who get amusement out of these internal dialogues, too.
Tumblr media
Matt: I can't believe she is seriously going to write for Frank now. Frank Castle. She knows he kills people, right?
Michael [looking up from his book and clearing his throat]: D'ya think that really bothers her? Considerin' who else she writes for?
Matt: Okay, well he's--he's taking her focus away from us. And now we have to deal with him being here all the time, causing problems and--
Frank: Y'know I'm sitting right fucking here, right? And I ain't said shit to you today, Red. Quit your poutin'.
Matt: I am not pouting.
Michael [glancing back down at his book]: Ya definitely have been. And you're the arsehole who just got almost twenty-thousand words o' smut. I'm over here still waitin' on mine.
Frank: You and me both. That's a good book, too, man. Read it last--
Matt [throwing his hands on his hips]: Oh come on Frank, don't act nice with him now like you weren't just asking him to pull a rabbit out of a hat the other day.
Frank: What? He's called The Magician isn't he?
Michael [glaring between the both of them]: If ya both don't shut the fuck up--
[TV flips on and all three focus on it]
Matt: What was that?
Michael [head tilting to the side curiously]: It's...The Great British Bakin' Show?
Matt: ...why?
Frank: Because she said she wanted us to stop arguing, Red. Or have you been too busy re-reading that smut piece in the bathroom to remember?
Matt [grumbling and flopping down onto the couch]: Not like I can actually watch this.
Frank [stretching out and kicking his boots up onto the coffee table]: Then sit there quietly and pout.
[Coffee table abruptly slides out from under Frank’s boots and Matt and Michael stifle a laugh]
Michael: She did tell ya to keep your boots off the coffee table.
Frank [apologetically sinking into the couch]: Yes, ma'am.

Fandom Events in 2023
I made it to a wrestling show! Since they never go near me and my life is what it is, I really can't manage more than one a year, and I've got to be lucky to get that to work, but this was a big deal and I'm so happy that I could make it happen!
ALSO I MADE UP A FUCKING PAIRING AND GOT IT TO THE #1 FOR BOTH PARTIES INVOLVED you know what this counts as an event LMAOOOOO i'm thinking no one should actually have this power
Upcoming Projects
If I ever stop bemoaning my perceived lack of skill, I've got 2/3 of a fic that Vamp prompted dialogue for, largely me writing something fluffy and saccharine because she was trying to write smut and we were both trying to write out of our wheelhouses lol
Writing reflection
Well! 2023 was quite a year, honestly. I was going to be like OH HOLY SHIT about my word count but when I took our collabs, it dropped so fast, so that's good, I guess (???). I'm still so happy I discovered wrestling, because it's been easily 12 years since I had this amount of creativity for a single fandom. And this year I really stretched out and started writing new stuff within the wrestling fandom! That's exciting (depending what you followed me for, I suppose LOL).
But more than anything else, this year I looked at what I wanted to write and said, FUCK IT, I'M WRITING IT. And I started dropping horror shit I fully expected that no one would read, because I didn't think people came to fandom for spooky stuff??? And lo and behold, y'all really showed up for those fics! I'm forever grateful you saw me writing absolutely batshit horror and were like yes, Katy, we will also read this creepfest. So much love.
I also tried to write more smut, which I am not particularly adept at, and also some darker themes. I do try to write lighthearted things, haha, but my own mental state has been not stellar, and I think that tends to come out in my fics. And I started writing femslash, which this fandom needs so much more of! So. All in all, a real banger year for me in fandom. I'm pretty proud of a LOT of the fics I wrote this year.
And, obviously, 2023 would not be complete with me mentioning that Vamp and I produced an epic shit ton of words together, and MORE IMPORTANTLY had an absolute blast in doing so. What a whirlwind writing together has been!!! I think we've really gotten to this point of just great flow, and I'm super proud of how we work so well like we do. We DO HAVE SOMETHING ELSE COMING but we've been "planning" it since August and haven't written it yet, so HAHAHA. Anyway. Expect that in 2025, or something. ;)
Rules: Feel free to show whatever stats you have. Only want to show Ao3 stats? Rock on. Want to include some quantitative info instead of stats? Please do this. Want to change how yours is presented? Absolutely do that. Would rather eat glass than do this? Please do eat glass, I’ve heard it’s good for your gums.
Tagging: @whysamwhy123 @meeplanguage @fille-lioncelle and anyone else who wants to take a stab at this!

Hooooooooly crap your latest Azul fic is probably the most intense, jaw-dropping roller coaster ride I've ever been on. Like oh my gosh, starting it off with such a suspenseful scene was such a good way of getting the reader's attention- not to mention the spiral as to how it even gets to that point. The in-betweens were so fucking good!
Absolutely obsessed with the way you describe the scenery and the inner turmoil, like it's so poetic and just creates such a delicious imagery!! The fluffiness in the first vow was soooo tooth rottingly sweet- Like holy crap got me giggling and kicking my feet over here. I absolutely adore the way you wrote the mc, especially with how well she was at handling Azul's negativity and self-deprecation at the start. Just the way you're able to make the reader's feel the same way as the mc- I was SEETHING. The amount of times I got so frustrated with Azul- Especially with how he tried to get her to stop working, like dawg, she's doin' it cause she likes it, JUST LET HER HAVE THIS ONE THING
I was so glad when mc called it off when she did, cause ain't no way Azul was talking about some "You don't care for me as much if I'm healthy" LIKE WTF ARE YOU SAYING?? LITERALLY RIPPING MY PILLOW TO SHREDS RN
Aaaaaaa and oh my gosh the way mc just snaps- just says 'fuck it' and just lets everything out was so satisfying yet also so scary cause like- bro's definitely not gonna just accept that. Holy crap the bits of dialogue as he realizes mc was leaving- I can't. I'm not okay. Like the build up?? Like we know what's about to happen, but the way we see his perspective as it's about it happen- My mouth is agape. Eyes bulging out of skull- THAT WAS SUCH A GOOD SCENE!! Actual chills
Ending it on the hospital scene as his mentality just reverts back to how things were before her- Ugh... I can't- I can't function anymore. I have never been gagged so much by fanfic- like the life has been sucked out of me in the best way possible
Definitely will be re-reading, there's no way I could be fine with reading it only once
Such a satisfying conclusion too- like oh my gosh <3
OMG OMG THANK YOU!!!!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH AAAAAAAAAAAA (≧◡≦) ♡
Tumblr media
I wanted it to feel like a fic that suffocates you with sadness and emptiness while you're reading it, so opening with the aftermath of the murder felt appropriate! It sets such a haunting mood because you don't quite know why Azul did this or what happened for things to turn out this way (until you read the end of the fic), which only makes it more unsettling the further you read.
:D I'm so happy you enjoyed many aspects of the fic, especially the short-lived fluff in the beginning! I think that was my favorite part to write out of everything (although the hospital scene is a close second). Azul and Reader were so genuinely cute together in that scene. T_T if only it could be like that always...
And I'm especially happy you liked the way I wrote the reader's character here!!!! I wanted her to be more in tune with emotions than Azul is because it felt like a nice contrast to the very out-of-control, emotional Azul. She's honestly such a sweetheart who is just trying her best to be genuinely kind and loving despite the situation. Azul is so frustrating here, so the fact that Reader could remain patient and gentle throughout six entire years of their marriage... It felt satisfying to write her finally snapping at him, so I'm glad that was a scene you could enjoy! I liked switching perspectives partway through as the focus strays from the subject of Reader and her bringing up the divorce to Azul's disturbing behaviors as he begins to lose himself to his fears and insecurities. And then he just shuts off and tragedy ensues. >_< it's heartbreaking and scary and so many other unfortunate things!!!
And the hospital scene oooooo yes yes!!!!! Azul's psychology in this fic is so fascinating to me. He really did mean it when he said the reader was his world, so with her no longer in it his entire existence undergoes this drastic shift and suddenly he's not whole. He's lost a vital part of himself, the part that felt loved and appreciated, and so now he's back to floating through life with this lonesome emptiness and self-hatred. Now the world is small and devoid of color. Now it's just monochrome and cold.
Aaaaaaaa I loved writing him in this state of slow, uncertain delirium and the way he panics when the nurses won't answer his questions. I also greatly enjoyed writing him using the phrase "my wife" over and over because Reader is no longer just her own person to him. She's Azul's. His wife. And then there's also the symbolism in Azul killing Reader and knowing that no one else will have her ever again and that, because he got to take her life for himself, it will be no one else's. It's not even Reader's anymore.
Forgive my ramblings!!! I'm just very happy to know you liked the fic and that you will be reading it again!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!! 💖

thanks @bobafett for the tag i love tag games SO much
How many works do you have on AO3? 38! Huh! I don't know what I expected? (If you wanna be exact, it's actually 41 because I have 3 joke fics posted anonymously.)
What’s your total AO3 word count? 653,468
What fandoms do you write for? Whatever I'm into at the moment? Right now it's God of War. Earlier it was Linked Universe. Before that it was Daiya no Ace. But I'm not particularly loyal, it's literally just whatever idea that manages to stick.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Reflection -- a classic AA Batteries -- my beloved Dawn of the Fourth -- *evil cackling* ain't no rest for the wicked -- oh my god do people still click on this Denial and Deterioration -- I SWEAR I'M STILL WORKING ON IT I ACTUALLY ADDED TO THE DOC LIKE 3 DAYS AGO
Do you respond to comments? I try to! I try to catch every comment, but if a fic is on the older side and the comment isn't super long, I sometimes don't reply. Not because I don't like the comment (i love all comments i love you all) but because if a fic is not fresh in my brain I don't have much to say
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? DO NOT READ IT, but it's the shadows we cast. I was fifteen. I'm not linking it on here. It's still on my AO3 because I'm not a coward, but I'm also not very brave, so like, don't read my high school fic, you've been warned.
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Probably Candid? That one is SUPER fluffy, which is not normally my style, but you know, sometimes you just gotta flex your fluff muscles,
Do you get hate on fics? Eh, not really. I've gotten a few negative comments, but mostly from FFN, and I honestly don't even count those lol.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? No. I genuinely wouldn't even know where to begin.
Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Nah, crossovers aren't my thing.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? I have seen a fic that was very blatantly referencing one of mine, but I don't really consider that stealing.
Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope!
Have you ever co-written a fic before? Does the absolutely insane crack fic written on the tail end of a 29-hour voice call count?
What’s your all time favorite ship? Hmm. I read a lot of Merthur, but that's mostly because the Merlin fandom tends to be really good, and therefore there's a lot of good Merthur (although I do like Merthur a lot, super Shakespearean, only valid soulmate pairing I've ever seen).
What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? If I abandon a fic, I'm going to make an announcement. If I haven't officially abandoned it, it's still fair game. That said, Replication is like, on the lowest of low priorities.
What are your writing strengths? It comes with absorbing plot structure into your personality, but yeah, I'm a kick ass plotter. Also comedy. That also comes with the plot structure.
What are your writing weaknesses? Atmosphere/description. Worldbuilding. Also to a lesser extent, character voice -- I feel like I eventually default to everyone just sounding like me
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Depends on context, but it's always through the lens of "how does this effect the experience for the reader?"
First fandom you wrote for? I wrote a Star Wars fanfic when I was like, 9. First fanfiction on PURPOSE was for PJO.
Favorite fic you’ve written? I think the best thing I've written so far is DotF, but my favorite is probably The Disappearance of Narumiya Mei. WHICH I'M ALSO STILL WORKING ON, life just got REALLY WEIRD and I had to take a step back from it RIP
Tagging @tavina-writes, @ellie-tarts, @lieutenantbiscute, @aoryuucchi, @bytebun, @mimbotomy (no pressure if you don't want to!) and of course anyone who feels like doing this

[20 Question Fic Writer Game]
Tagged by @faindri and @pancake-breakfast!
How many works do you have on AO3?
18! Most are poetry collections, so a lot of smaller stories in one anthology.
What is your AO3 word count?
75,144
What fandoms do you write for?
Trigun is my main squeeze atm (and biggest in general, I have four projects for it which is double anything else--and the highest wordcount, too), but I've written for KinnPorsche, Sabikui Bisco, Danny Phantom, Vampire In The Garden, Sasaki to Miyano, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Goncharov (yeah... yeah), The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window, Signalis, Omori, Lycoris Recoil, and The Executioner and Her Way of Life
What are your top five fics by kudos?
No idea and I ain't looking! Trad publishing has me extremely scarred from some nasty comparison wars, so I have kudo and view counts blocked on ALL fics, including mine. From my kudos emails, though, Hallowboned has to be my top fic for sure. Last time I was paying attention most of my other fics didn't pass into triple digits by a long shot
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do!!! I adore comments, and I love chatting with folks, it really keeps me motivated and chugging along. I am... very behind on replying to the comments on my last chapter rn because I feel so awful and guilty about having to quit writing
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Uh... I don't write a ton of narrative fics, and I do love me some tragic poetry, but I guess the angstiest collection might be my Signalis one, Observable System Transcendence? But my Omori poem and the Trined Soul collection might be contenders, too
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I mean, Trembling Hands is a Trimax fix-it fic, so? Though the Sasaki and Miyano collection, Effortless Dreams, is definitely the most tooth-rotting fluff I've ever slapped onto the page
Do you get hate on fics?
Oh yeah, I've had my poetry called pretentious and also not good enough to be poetry lol. It's been a hot minute since that's happened, people are just jerks sometimes
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I used to! Porn with plot, my beloved. It would be interesting to explore in poetry format, but we'll see if I have the time who wants to commission some poetry porn from me lmao
Do you write crossovers?
Nah, not my cuppa
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yeah, many moons ago
Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but that is one of the coolest things fandom does. Loving a thing so much you spend the time to painstakingly transform that art into something you can read and share in another language, bro??? Translators are amazing
Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
I've worked pretty closely with artists a loooong time ago, but I've only written fics where I'm the sole writer. I have used other writers' ideas and outlines (with their permission, of course), but that's the closest
What's your all-time favourite ship?
I DON'T KNOW?!?! Shipping has never really been my main focus of media typically, but when one digs its teeth into me I go rabid in a completely feral but different way each time.
What's a WIP you'd like to finish but doubt you ever will?
))): All of them
Life feels kinda... really dire atm, it's hard to see ever writing again. However! God I want to finish Hallowboned SO BADLY!!! I have so many chapters written for it that I haven't even posted!!!!! Y'all haven't met Livio yet!!!!!! GAH 3:
What are your writing strengths?
Uh... ??? I'll be real, I've got no idea. I feel like I write so weirdly atm, it's hard for me to analyze in that kinda way
What are your writing weaknesses?
I tend to get really excited/into things and flit around and forget to explain or describe things sometimes. Thank god for having been well-trained to edit my own work. Not that I catch it all, but I try!!!
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I think it'd really cool, but I'd need a native speaker on hand to make sure I don't fuck it up in my own fic
First fandom you wrote for?
I think my first piece of written fanwork was a Danny Phantom Quizilla thing lmao, I'm old. I don't remember what it was about, just that it was ANGSTY
Favourite fic you've ever written?
Ah?!?! Honestly, each project is so different and written from such a different place, I've got no idea. I'm proudest of Observable System Transcendence being my longest, most consistent project (outside of my Smaugust collection, which isn't a fan project), Hallowboned being the first thing that really inspired me in ages--and the most indulgent one lol. But each collection and fic and poem comes from such a different place, and it's hard to pull them apart and pick???

3 lol. eventually i'll post more. probably. maybe
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
100,989 (not counting the original "draft" of wicked turns because a lot of that got reused in the current version)
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
girl (gender neutral) i don't even have 5 fics total... top kudos though is wicked turns :')
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
yes!!!! comments are so nice and they let me know i am not posting into a void and that other people are actually interested in what i'm writing!!!! if you have ever left a comment on anything i wrote you have such a special place in my heart and you make me so happy!!!!!!!
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
haven't finished it yet but it's going to be drowning lessons :)
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
also have not finished it but everyone in how to win friends will come out SO happy and well-adjusted. it's at a good little stopping point for now and i might skip into act 2 for the next chapter/s... idk it doesn't really have a plot it's just me giving myself like. writer aftercare from the stuff in drowning lessons or wicked turns fjgdfjjfdgj
7. Do you write crossovers?
not anymore but if you know the ancient piri lore of when i did tumblr rp......... the harley quinn/norman bates "it started out as a joke and now we're really invested" ship still makes me go insane from time to time...... i have a type and it is unhinged men who fall for somehow even more unhinged women
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
nah
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
yes. the kind where i get wine drunk or have an edible and then scream into my hands after typing each word because i hate writing smut but damn if it ain't relevant to the storyline
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
no but i HAVE had my peebles art stolen/reposted on at least one site

13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
ough. waugh. how can i choose between my beautiful children
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
yeah so i have. the loose outline of a peebs fic. and it has been rolling around in my brain for years and years and years. but in order to truly do it justice i feel like it would be a full-on multi-issue comic series and the last time i tried making a graphic novel-style work (shoutout to princess huntress, your worldbuilding lives on but i'll never finish you) i got maybe 8/100+ pages done and then spiraled into art burnout for like 4 years
15. What are your writing strengths?
i like to think i am good at writing horror and gore teehee <3
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
sex scenes...... i don't like writing it, i don't like publishing it, i am ehhhh about reading it, but again, damn if it ain't relevant to the storyline
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
don't trust google translate. just use <> or whatever if you don't know the language.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
batman (stares wistfully out the window for 10 hours)
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
i REALLY want to write a skyrim long-ish fic. i have so many thoughts on it. there would be two LDBs (amma and sigg). both of them are cursed by daedra but in wildly different directions
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
wicked turns :)

20 Questions ♥
Thank you @anisaanisa for tagging me! ♥ I've been meaning to do these tag games but I'm always busy-- I'm actually free at the moment! And it's cool that it's a fanfic quiz, since I've just gotten into posting my stuff hahaha
How many works do you have on AO3?
Only 6 so far! I've got lots in the works but I don't like sharing 'till I'm done :3c
What’s your total AO3 words count?
29,294
What fandoms do you write for?
I've written for InuYasha, Portal, and for the little Toothfairy fandom but as far as what I've posted I'm currently, and very obviously, into Baldur's Gate 3. Other fandoms I've written for are Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Spice and Wolf
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Hands On A C(l)ock (441) Portrait of a Vampire (366) Shower Break (337) Cheeky Little Pup (73) Erotica of a Vampire (51)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I don't orz. I first posted to Ao3 in 2020 and then walked away so when I came back to post the next part I was like !!! oh shit!!! people left comments LOL I felt embarrassed for just letting them sit there and now I'm kind of stuck. Plus, I feel weird going to everyone and just saying "thank you!" I REALLY APPRECIATE IT I'M JUST…….. AH!
What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Not posted but it's going to be the KagKik fic I'm writing :3c Otherwise I don't like angst oops
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably Shower Break, I guess? or Cheeky Little Pup? Idk, I'm even looking at my WIPs but I'm not sure how some of them are gonna end yet!
Do you get hate on fics?
Technically I experienced my first recently when I had a person try to accuse me of stealing their fic and then went on to try and drag my name through the mud. That was exciting! (sarcasm)
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
it's………. it's my main thing. oops. i write second person f/o x reader fic cuz i'm cringe and free <3
Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
SOOO NOT WRITTEN! YET! But I do have a ton in mind. I think the craziest one I'd ever want to write if I got the balls to do it would be an RSK x Madoka Magica fic cuz I just think. It would be fucking funny. Given RSK are real people so I'm like ehhh maybe not. Otherwise I think the only other one is an InuYasha x Labyrinth crossover but that ain't too wild. It's been done before!
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of! Also, I can't help but find it strange, the idea of stealing fic. Do people actually do this lol
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope!
Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Technically? Friend of mine write together from time to time, but again, nothing posted.
What’s your all-time favourite ship?
You x Your Favorite Character
What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I have a story started that's about Naraku getting isekai'd into another world where he's the hero of it. I think it's pretty funny but getting myself to start it has been a little tough.
What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm really good at capturing character voices. I also think I'm good at describing emotions.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I think my sentences could stand for a bit more of a unique structure. I don't like writing place descriptions very much, I'm very character focused.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Sure…? Why not! Do it!
First fandom you wrote for?
InuYasha <3
Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
Care For A Wet Dog, oddly enough, even though it's unfinished. I don't know, there's something about it that I really like. It's older and I think I kind of miss how my writing used to be? Then again whether anyone else sees a difference, I wouldn't know.
not tagging anyone just cuz i...... i don't know who to tag! uh! i dont want to bother anyone lol! so if you see this and wanna do it please do! and tag me in it because if i inspired you to do it i would love to read it! (and maybe keep you in mind for any future tags? maybe? hm? *nudge nudge*)

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks @medusasfinalgirl for tagging me!!
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 16 atm! (1 anonymous) Which is wild to me. English was my least favourite subject in school.
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 198,609 which, again, absolutely wild.
3. What fandoms do you write for? At the minute, just stranger things. But my early fics were Game of Thrones and Bridgerton.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? I'm just going off ST fics so:
(Anything You) Want - friends to lovers mutual pining Nice (Just Ain't My Type) - silly celebrity rivals au (I Don't Have To Tell You But) You're The Only One - AYW college sequel This Be The Verse - on a theme of parenthood Stay - AYW Eddie POV
I only consider 2 of these to actually be amongst my "best" fics tho.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes! I definitely try my best to respond to everything as quickly as possible. I feel very honoured that there are people out there who take time out of their day to let me know they enjoyed. Makes my day every single time!!
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Oooh okay, Haunt Me, Then! (kinktober spectrophilia fic) for now, but it's very possible that She's Got A Boyfriend Anyway (classic cheating-on-Jason fic) might beat it when I get round to finishing it.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I don't know if any of my fics have particularly strong happy endings, but off the top of my head it's got to be This Be The Verse.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Defo not on hellcheer ones! Everyone's so nice here!!! <3 My very first fic got SO MUCH hate on it but that's because I wrote it when I was 17 and it WAS terrible.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Really never thought I would, but more of my fics have smut in them than not these days lol. Idk, something about hellcheer just really made me go ...these two should be going at it.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? I don't, and I'd be very surprised if I ever do tbh.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Nope!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope again!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I haven't, and I'm not really sure I can ever imagine myself co-writing.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship? I mean, I've not written 13 fics for any ship other than hellcheer so that's something. In terms of longevity, Katniss/Peeta and Finnick/Annie still have the same effect on me as they did when I first read the book at like 13 years old.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? What a stressful question! I doubt I'll finish off Hard to Forgive (Hard to Forget) because it would be one of those proper multi-chapters (40k words ish by my estimates) and I just don't think I could do it.
16. What are your writing strengths? Hmm I'm not sure. I used to be quite good at setting a scene but I think I'm losing that a little. If I'm honest, recently I've been really proud of the sheer volume of what I've been writing and my willingness to venture out of my comfort zone.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? God, where to start. Weak dialogue, my repetitive writing style, difficulty writing endings, complete inability to do anything concisely. But I genuinely feel like I'm slowly improving bit by bit!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I did French and Spanish in school, French to a slightly higher level than Spanish, so I'd feel comfortable including either of those at a school level (like them trying out saying things like "at the weekend I like to go to the park" and "I have two brothers and no sisters" in a class) but wouldn't want to risk anything more complex!
19. First fandom you wrote for? The Hunger Games. I never posted it anywhere, but I still have my old drafts for fics that I look back on every now and again just to see how far I've come!
20. Favorite fic you've written? So hard to choose! This Be The Verse because it felt so immensely personal to write or Cherry (sapphic hellcheer) because it was a long time coming. Both are eclipsed by a soon-to-be-uploaded kinktober foot fic that I will reveal is called Heart and Sole (and yes it's as dumb and silly as the title implies)!
Okay that was fun! I'm not 100% sure on who I follow writes but I'm p sure @gingertumericlemon, @bibiche007 and @achilleanenjolras all do, so would love to hear your responses if you fancy it!

Thank you to @bg-sparrow for tagging me!!!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
I got 15. (insert the It Ain't Much but it's Honest Work meme)
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
Somehow I have 66,591 words? It's not a lot, but I don't really focus on word count when I write.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I mainly write for Back to the Future, but sometimes I have been possessed to write about Shakespeare plays (i'm being haunted by Billy Shakes himself)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Julius Caesar (The Gayer Version of the Play) - Shakespeare
Rebel With a Cause - Back to the Future
The 10 Years of Penelope - The Odyssey (this was out of spite)
Tender Roses - Shakespeare
Marty’s Road Test - Back to the Future
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to as much as I can. I really like engaging with the fandom and I know that I like talking to other fic authors about their works. But sometimes it stresses me out or I just forget…
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Definitely Chapter 1 of Catch the Winds of Destiny. Poor George and Lorraine. They’re so miserable. It made me sad writing it.
Although, my chapter about Einstein in Doc's Dogs was also angsty.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Ooooo. A lot of my stories are fluff and end happy, but I think what makes a story have a happy ending is one that shows characters at their worst and still ends happy somehow. So, by that logic, Chapter Three of Catch the Winds of Destiny has the happiest ending.
But if we’re just going based on pure happiness at the end, not just being hopeful, then it’s gotta be Rebel With a Cause.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, thankfully. All the commenters I get are very sweet and lovely and honestly encourage me to keep going.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Absolutely not. It doesn't appeal to me as a writer or as a reader.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I actually forgot I wrote this, but I wrote one (1) crossover fic for The Mummy and Jungle Cruise called New Friends.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have no idea, but it would honestly be really cool if that happened--as long as I have knowledge that it happened.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. It sounds really fun, though. I just have a really weird writing schedule (aka: I get bursts of writing inspiration and then a week later I cannot write at all) and I feel like that might mess with things??? I dunno.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Lorraine/George MY BELOVEDS. Oh my goodness do not even get me started. They are so adorable when they finally get their crap together and aren’t miserable. A close second is Marty/Jennifer. And because no one can stop me, Doc & Marty is my favorite platonic ship (their friendship is everything to me).
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Real talk? My current WIP, Someday We'll Find It. I don’t doubt that I won’t finish it, per se, but I am scared I’ll lose interest in finishing it. I’ve gotten into a new hyperfixation and usually that means my old one (Back to the Future) will get pushed outta the way and I don’t think about it as much. I’ve been trying really hard to balance both of them, so I’m praying I can still finish it.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I would say dialogue. It’s what comes to me naturally when I start writing. When I go to revise the story, I don’t have to add or delete too much dialogue. I think most of my stories tend to be driven by dialogue and that’s what most people comment about in my fics. I feel like I am better at showing who a character is through dialogue than other things.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Prose. I struggle so much with how much to write. Is it too much that it’s distracting? Is it too little and no one can get immersed in the story? I also tend to go on tangents with little stories that I have to figure out if it benefits or hurts the story in any way.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I’ve never done it before. If I were to do it, I would probably have the character speak in the language and work on making sure any dialogue tags and responses from other characters help a reader who only speaks English understand what is being said without having to Google translate it.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Warrior Cats. In elementary school, my friend and I would pass a folded up piece of paper. One of us would draw our OC saying/doing something and then the other would respond. There was nothing pre-planned, we just made it up as we went. We actually finished one and I got my dad to photocopy it so my friend and I could have it saved digitally and they could print it off.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
How could you do this to me???? I love so many of them for so many reasons. I love all my fics!!! (okay that’s a lie. But shhhh). I can’t pick one for my favorite of All Time, so I’ll pick one that’s special to me at the moment:I Fell For You. It was so self-indulgent and I loved trying to figure out how George would respond to the situation in the original Twin Pines timeline.
I'll tag @measuresderepo and anyone else who wants to join. (I'm so serious. If I haven't tagged you and you wanna do it, DO IT. Even if we have never interacted or anything. Go off)

Hi, same anon here! So uh, it's only been a few days since I wrote the 12th harbinger reader fic, and I cringe everytime I reread it. I suck at writing smut and my dialogues sounds so unnatural wtf 😭. Also, I'm fairly new to genshin - two months in - so I probably got a lot of things incorrect 💀. I have an offer, you let me free so I can see my wives again , I will regularly barge in your ask box and give you these really small drabbles that have been rotting in my brain for ages. You agree? Yes? Yes.
Okay so, same plot. But instead of reader being found out, reader gets attached, same with the Inazuma girls but the girls get to the point of obsession. They claim you as theirs but you know that you already belong to the fatui harbingers and the tsaritsa. And like, imagine the scene where the Raiden Shogun executes Signora Rosalyne, but you were also there. You have to choose, save Signora and betray Ei (they're both alive so it's a win?) or watch one of your beloved masters die. I've been rotting over this because Ei and Rosalyne are my wives
Did that shit make sense? Hopefully. And uhh, just call me sage anon. Expect me in your ask box at unusual times. 🙋
anon i think that you are in no place to make deals with me, but i am benevolent and forgiving so you may return to your wives.
that aside, there ain't "bad writing" per se, it's an practice that takes effort to hone and there is no standard for perfection. this blog is non judgemental and no hate is tolerated as long as you don't break my rules.
send in what you will as long as you're comfortable:) i will always welcome more thirsts and good vibes!!! <3
content warnings: DEAD DOVE, implied public humiliation
oh god... no matter what choice you'd make, nothing good comes out of it, anyway. choose the raiden shogun, and signora will be cleanly executed, your only ties to the tsaritsa and your home being cut, and you'll have no choice but to prostrate before your new master. you'll be taken in as a shiny trophy wife, and then a warning to other transgressors (similar to preserving criminals' heads for public display in the past).
for the rest of your fleeting, mortal life, you'll be held under a short leash, forced to present yourself like a priceless jewel, forced to obey, forced to bend to the shogun's will. your delusion will be properly disposed of, and your vision, should you have one, will contribute to the thousand armed, hundred eyed god that looms over inazuma city, taking all that you once were.
on the other hand, choose la signora, and only if you manage to make it out in one piece, you'll be taken back to your homeland, where you will kneel to the tsaritsa and be forced to provide a good explaination as to why you were caught warming a shogunate official's bed instead of properly gathering intel, in front of your fellow coworkers. if you look to signora for help, she'll get you off the hook, just this once- she does have the tsaritsa's favour afterall.
saving you the humiliation comes with a price, of course. you'll have to obey her every command, lick the floor she walks on, worship her as your saviour, despite how utterly embarressing it would be in front of other fatui. you'll be dishonourably downgraded into a measly little housepet, good for nothing other than pleasing their master rosalyne. and maybe if she's feeling particularly good, she'd be willing to indulge some of her other coworkers (who you once shared a rank with, mind you) and let them play with you for a bit. of course, not without her supervision, should you misbehave. but hey, it's probably better than having to be charged with treason and facing the mighty wrath of the tsaritsa herself... right...?

Jusy realized I should write more of Will with bad internalized homophobia like SHEEESH he's from Texas?? ZAMN.
My brother in Christ I interrupted a funny haha fic with some good ol' Will internalized homophobia yeehaw.
I literally just made Nico trans in it and went "sheeeesh I should rant about the Texas law- wait... Texas... Will Solace... From Texas... Naomi solace.... Texan... I do it." And wrote transphobic Naomi and it's so ooc that I appreciated wasting my time for it.
BUT ANYWAY do you ever wonder if Will has that? Like, even though he's pretty open about dating Nico do you ever wonder if one of the reasons he isn't as openly affectionate when it comes to talking about their relationship (mf I will count Nico not shutting up about him being his boyfriend as affectionate and you can fight me) is because of that? Like, when u think about it real good and hard him wanting to protect Nico is more of just,, a Will thing and not just because it's his boyfriend.
We're literally told by Apollo that Will is one of the most caring people alive, going as far as to buy clothes for Apollo himself out of the goodness of his heart, so to me it wouldn't be too far fetched to think he would protect everyone around him just because it's who he is.
Especially since he's a healer, he probably is always thinking, "I can't let these people get hurt, I can't lose them. I need to protect them before they even can get hurt." And honestly that has a lot of potential too. It's not entirely related to internalized homophobia but I think it adds a lot to him as a character to just naturally be protective of people, especially people he's close to.
I'm just writing Will Solace lore before the book comes out ain't I.
Anyway, in the new book I'd really like for him to talk about how even though he loves his siblings he feels a lot of resentment because of how they would leave all of the heavy lifting to him, and how they'd always leave patients to be his job. It's right there too, since he's the one with all the healing power and knowledge. But because of that people brush him aside as just the healer guy and don't even take the time to learn his name, and even if he saves someones life they don't appreciate him as a person, just what he did for them. And obviously it'd probably make people hate Kayla and Austin since they are some of the few named Apollo campers who aren't dead but it'd add flaws and dimension to them as characters, especially if we were to take into consideration the fact that compared to Will, they could have little to no healing powers at all and would be basically useless in that department, but even though Will knows that he still wishes they'd do what they can to help, since having to help so many people and watch them all die takes a fucking toll on the brain, so of course he'd want someone to for once help.
And honestly I think the fact that even in canon Nico actually does help kind of says a lot, since we aren't ever shown or even told that any other campers help, just that Nico does. If anything we're told Will does all of it. That's not even mentioning that he became head counsellor (or whatever it's called my brain is die) at a VERY young age, the dude was 11 fucking years old, he'd have to basically raise his siblings, year round or not. And if we are to go with canon and say that Naomi is a good mom, that would mean that Will stays year round, completely missing any time at his ACTUAL home and time with his mom BECAUSE he's the only healer. He's on the job 24/7, so to have him talk about (in dialogue or not) how legitimately stressed out he is and how he's genuinely angry at his siblings for leaving the hardest work to him would be good.
That's not even MENTIONING the fact that he might possibly hold resentment or even hate Percy for not giving him time to mourn Micheal because Annabeth was in serious danger and needed healing, which even though he knows that it was a GOOD thing he did and that it was better overall to save Annabeth, he'd still kind of hate him for that because he had just lost his brother and became the new counselor and now had all these duties he had before, he'd want some time to process that.
And I'm not even saying bash Percy I'm saying that it should be explored in the book because when someone does something that hurts you, even though you know it was good or because they just couldn't do what you needed them to do, you'd still be kind of angry at them. And I feel like him being the only healer would make him just that much angrier at Percy
But i'd also like for him to be somewhat okay with him, not the jealous asshole boyfriend he is in fanon.
But at the same time, I'd kind of like for him to get mad Percy did that whole choking Nico thing and how everyone on the Argo II treated him (including Percy) and for how he was kind of a major douche to Nico before Bianca died, not because "that's my boyfriend" but more like "Dude, uncool." And then a little bit of "you fucking WHAT?" To the whole choking thing even though he knows Percy was kind of lacking air so his brain wasn't working right, he'd still be like "Dude, what the actual fuck?" Not mentioning the fact that Percy low-key fucking hated Nico through the series (and I love Percy he's 😘 he's one of my favorites I love the man but my boy really hated this literal child for merely existing and being annoying) and kind of kept the whole "Nico is evil and dangerous" thing going which like,,, my man... That shit fucked Nico up BIG TIME and the one time even he was like "what if we didn't save Nico from the jar" bc I'm not over how the characters were willing to leave the man for dead for a bit. And how he got low-key annoyed at him for struggling to get out of the jar and when he got pissed at Nico for gasping for air when he was choking the mf (And that's not even Percy bashing it's just like,,, tf was that about and yes. I know he was relieved that Nico was safe and not dead. But that's the bare minimum because he still hated Nico but the whole "no I don't know you" thing when Percy had no memory was still weird and like low-key concerned about that. I would hope it wasn't so he can get in his pants for lack of a better word and is just like "I ain't fucking with this he's not gonna believe me. I'm out." Because my boy Nico would NEVER do that shit.)
Like Will getting genuinely angry at people is like,, fuck yeah. And we know he's VERY protective of Nico (as he SHOULD as he SHOULD) so I wouldn't put it past the man to do a Will Smith on Percy for the shit he pulled earlier in the series.

No.
9. Do you write smut? If so, which kind?
I have two public smut fics, one on main (Blame It On The Moonlit Night) and one on not main. If you know you know. I do wanna write more of them because there's like none of the kinds I wanna see for my main ships.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest crossover you’ve ever written?
I have never posted a proper crossover but by God I have ideas. Craziest would probably be the Kamen Rider Build/Cherry Magic/Barbie Princess and the Pauper AU that's been stewing in my brain since I realized Akaso was in both Build and Cherry Magic. Not crazy but The Caligula Effect/Ex-Aid AU, I have two versions of this puppy. I can and will infodump for an hour straight about this AU to you.

Gang I'm so sorry but as much as I love A Treasure of Lifetime and the idea of a continuing sequel to Moonlit Night/phantom thief x prince AU I don't think it's gonna continue uhfoijd.
And many, many other wips both started and not (like the idea that stalker fic came from, a wip I had focusing on my Million Live Producer OC JumaroP, the list goes on).
16. What are your writing strengths?
People tell me I'm very good at dialogue so that. Also been told that at least for fanfic I can match characterization very well.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Uhh everything els--
More serious answer is the fact it can take me months or even years at times to get the spoons to continue on certain things.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I'm not entirely sure what this means?
19. First fandom you wrote for?
In terms of fic posted online: Vocaloid at age 13. In general: Mario at undetermined age in elementary school.

Glass Drops on the Windowsill
Foul Legacy Childe x Reader Gender Neutral (pronouns not mentioned) Hurt/Comfort Warnings: Depiction of thunderstorms, fear of thunderstorms, descriptions of lightning ~ * ~
Pitter patter, pitter patter, the rain sounds on the roof of your house, sliding down the tiles and dripping into the canal. Your umbrella lays abandoned near your door, surprisingly dry, as you stare out the window and watch the crystalline drops roll down the glass. Luckily you had arrived home about half an hour ago, barely beating the worst of the rain by a few minutes. So you gaze at the people outdoors, ensnared by the sudden storm, and watch the clouds darken from near white to slate gray. Your ears slowly block out the sound of the rain as they grow accustomed to it, and it becomes suddenly apparent that your house, for once, is very, very quiet, when ordinarily you’d at least be able to hear the soft rumblings of your unlikely roommate. You furrow your brows, worried, and begin to search for him. The kitchen yields no results, neither does the front room, and for a moment the rain distracts you, and you stop to admire the effect it has on the foliage outside. Your concentration snaps back into place when you hear a low whimper from upstairs. Keeping your steps quiet as possible, you tiptoe your way up the stairs and open the door to your room. There, hidden under several blankets atop your bed, is the very monster you’ve been looking for. Zhongli told you that he’s called “Childe”, although you don’t know how he came across this information. Honestly, you’ve learned not to question what Zhongli knows, because he’s usually right, especially when the topic is history. You make your way across the room and sit on the bed, and Childe peeks out from under the mound of blankets. It’s strange, really. Maybe you’ve been spending too much time working and not enough time sleeping, but his mask-like face is one of the most expressive things you’ve ever seen. And right now he looks nervous, almost scared. You place a hand on his face and he almost instantly leans into your touch, sticking his head further out from under the blankets. A bright light flashes outside, followed by a distant rumble of thunder, and you jump, then exhale. Thunderstorms were more surprising than scary- once they started, you would quickly grow used to it, even admiring the lightning streaking across the sky when you could catch it. But it seems your roommate disagrees, as when you turn back to face him, he’s retreated under the blankets, shivering. Ah. Ah. Quietly, you shift and slowly raise the covers. Oh. Oh. You’re not sure if Childe can cry, but right now he certainly looks like he’s about to. Lighting cracks outside once more, and he flinches. Out of instinct, you take his face in your hands, and he looks at you, letting out a soft whine of fear. Bunching up your legs so you can fit, you scoot next to him, rearranging the blankets so they’re surrounding you instead of overtop of you. You run your hands through his hair, over his mask, across his moth-like wings, all while murmuring to him, distracting him from the sounds and darkness outside. And slowly, slowly, he begins to relax. His muscles untense, and his whimpers turn to hesitant purrs, as you tell the rain, rain, to go away, come again some other day. Soon even the loudest claps of thunder are reduced to background noises as Childe purrs alongside your ramblings. You coo up to him, tracing one of the horn features on his face, and he rumbles softly back down to you, the vibrations in his chest pleasant and soothing. He inches closer and gently lays his head on your chest, careful not to put all his weight on you, and you listen as his breathing evens out and he drifts off to sleep. The rain comes back into focus, the last remnants of the thunderstorm drifting overhead. The glassy-clear raindrops cling to the windowsill before relenting and falling to join the rivers of water below. You see your reflection, and his, and marvel at the sight of this enormous monster sleeping peacefully, snuggled into your form. He’s curled himself around you, ever-protective even in slumber. You smile, feeling your own eyelids growing heavy. And with a yawn, you let yourself be claimed by sleep, a sleep that only comes on a stormy, rain-filled day, in the arms of your unlikely partner.

Writing Tips Pt. 9 - Accents
Here's a more specific one that can really make or break a story: spoken accents.
You've probably all seen it happen in fiction. A character comes from a locale with a thick accent, and the author feels they have to represent it as faithfully as possible, leading to virtually incomprehensible dialogue.
"Ah dinnae ken what ta tell ye, lassie, but the wee scunner'll do ye dirty if ye don' take a firm hand ta him!"
"Sacre bleu, but zis is zimply unnacceptable! We cannot be having ze Rocheforts and ze Garniers zitting in ze zame room or zey will be tearing ze place apart!"
Absolutely awful attempts to render stereotypical accents aside, the above lines aren't very legible thanks to the deliberate mispellings in my attempt to convey sound. And for what gain? How easy is it to tell that the first is an attempt at Scottish, or the second at French?
Best to leave out the bulk of it. Use idioms, turns of phrase, or the general rhythm and structure of the words to convey the accent without leaning so heavily into sound changes. This way, you'll be less likely to shake your reader out of the story because they're too busy trying to puzzle out what someone is saying.
So let's try that again:
"I don't know what to tell you, lassie, but the wee scunner'll do you dirty if you don't take a firm hand to him!"
"Sacre bleu, but this is simply unacceptable! We cannot be having the Rocheforts and the Garniers sitting in the same room or they will be tearing the place apart!"
I left alone a few words that don't have a direct English replacement that keeps the same feel (lassie, wee scunner, sacre bleu), along with one phrase (do you dirty) and the general grammar structure of the second example, but all the stereotypical sounds have been removed. Much easier to read, and yet the general idea of the accent is still there.
By way of personal example, when I was younger, I wrote a story with a character with a very heavy accent that was supposed to be something...I don't know, thick American South?
"Mah name is Daphne. Ah'm a seer. Are ya deaf er somethin'? Ah s'pose ya nevah 'eard of da seers before? Waell, ya 'ave now. I must be 'least tree-undred years old er somethin'. Come in, Ah've been 'spectin' ya. Now, 'ave a seat. Right dere on dat box. Ah don't 'ave much in da furn'ture d'partment. Ya ain't from 'round here, are ya?”
An entire chapter with one character speaking like that. Oof. There were even points where she had to repeat herself and try to enunciate to make it clearer what she was saying to the other characters.
This is not good writing.
So here's an attempt to clean it up while keeping the idea of the accent.
"My name is Daphne. I'm a seer. Are you deaf or somethin'? I suppose you never heard of the seers before? Well, you have now. I must be least three hundred years old or somethin'. Come in, I've been expecting you. Now have a seat, right there on that box. I don't have much in the furniture department. You ain't from around here, are you?"
Much easier to read, and should still get the idea across.
Of course, you can ignore all of this if the incomprehensible accent is part of a joke.

Writers tag game!
Thank you for tagging me @thefoulbeast mwah mwah!!
How many works do you have on ao3?
36 O:
What's your total ao3 word count?
1,292,662 but that's definitely inflated a little bit considering I write a lot of fics with Rynoa. So half of those fics, their word count belong to her!
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Both surprised and not surprised by the results:
Sincerely (1682 WOW) A Stranger in Your Shoes (470) Until Next Time (448) Side By Side (375) Forever Yours (288)
Not surprised to see all of Lettersverse there but A Stranger in Your Shoes surprised me! I didn't notice it was that high...
Do you respond to comments; why or why not?
It depends! Most of the time, I do. There are times when I don't because either the spoons are not there, or like for one of my fics (and finally, it's time to rest) the fic was written from a very personal place and so I found it hard to figure out what to say beyond the story itself. So I let the comments stand on their own and know that if you commented on it, I love and appreciate you. ♥
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Parasomnia, probably. It's a one shot character study looking at Yukio's traumas and how they affect him. I don't really like angsty endings tbh so even that one barely applies.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
If You Can't Beat 'Em or Three's A Crowd. I think both of those ended very happily and it's hard for me to choose which one is "happier"
Do you write crossovers? If so, what's the craziest one you've ever written?
The only crossovers I've written haven't been published. Though Rynoa and I are working on a Blue Exorcist/Kyou Kara Maou AU. Does that count?
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not that I can remember!
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Not as much as I used to! Most of it is either soft and making love or rough and tumble monsterfucking. There is no in between.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Lolol not that I know of!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes!! Lettersverse is being translated into french by our lovely @junemel-aoex~
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
*blows a kiss to @29rynoah* yeah all the time ♥
What's your all-time favourite ship?
The current hyperfocus is YukiShima.
But real talk it's hard to pick an *all time favorite* because I kind of just go where the hyperfocus takes me. Every time I remember a ship, I fall in love with it again, so it's hard to say if I have an all time favorite.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I'm not ready to give up on them yet...
What are your writing strengths?
Imagery and tying those images to metaphors. I love waxing poetic about a character's current state~
What are your writing weaknesses?
I have a lot of crutch words that I lean on (however being one of the big ones.) Other than that, I think I have trouble with pacing. I've been told it's really good, but I can't shake the feeling sometimes! I'm working on improving.
Other than that, finishing a damn project is a really big weakness.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
If I don't want the dialogue to be accessible to the reader, I would simply say in narration "He started speaking in another language." or something along those lines. If I want the dialogue to be accessible to the reader, I would state that there was a language change. Such as: "How are you doing?" he said, switching to Spanish.
I find that if I write out the dialogue in another language, I'm setting myself up for people who do know the language to scrutinize. It takes the reader out of the story, gives them something to focus on that I didn't intend for them to focus on. It breaks up the flow of my narrative. So personally, I don't do it.
If you like to do it, though, by all means. I ain't the writing police.
What was the first fandom you wrote fic for?
Yu-Gi-Oh!
What's your favourite fic that you've written?
It's hard to decide. Out of the fics Rynoa and I have written together, it's a tie between If You Can't Beat 'Em and Three's A Crowd.
Of the ones I've written on my own? The Turing Test is gradually rising to the top, though that's probably just because of the hyperfocus. ♥

I don't know who's been tagged and who hasn't, so I'm just going to try and tag people from memory.
@29rynoah, @bluewindfall, @uuuuutan, @willowcatkinblossom, @tonguetiedraven, and that's all I can think of right now. If I forgot you, sorry! Feel free to do it and tag me!

Length! Love reading fics where it’s nice and long and leaves me with a warped sense of reality afterward lmao
Also!! Dialogue!! Natural sounding dialogue!!
And!! Emotion!! You’re just so good at conveying emotions in a piece of writing dude it’s insane
Ahhh, thank you!
Tell me what my speciality as a fanfiction writer is
Finally, me being unable to shut the fuck up is good for something. Jk, but that's really good to hear. I think I like to write longer pieces, because with short ones I have a real hard time finishing them once the intial excitment wears off. Not even because I can't find it in me to continue them, I simply often forget where the story is supposed to continue. I may know the end or another fixed point further down the line, but I can't connect where I left off to it. This doesn't happen with my big projects, where I have more notes and usually some sort of outline. (My outline are one sentence, incomprehensible summaries of at least one thing that happens in the chapter. I am not that sophisticated.)
Plus! I just love connecting dots. Planting seeds. The glorious thing about longer stories is that you don't have to explain everything and go into-depth all at once to make your point. You can take your time and spread it out ... and by building up some sort of climax, you neither have to overexplain the climax to make it work nor waste the potency of your idea early on. There is a way to make this work with short stories, but I'll be honest, I haven't figured that out (yet). I'm not a good short story (as in, the genre) writer, BUT I am great at novellas and novels! :) Also, isn't it simply comforting to know that eight years of your life can be read in just 4 hours -- No, again, I'm jk. I'm glad you read it so quickly! All the work I put into it was so that it hopefully read smoothly and enthralling! It's worth the time it took
Oh my god, thANK YOU FOR NOTICING THE DIALOGUE! It's the most important thing to me. I've edited the three lines of dialogue that there are so far in this part of The Amulet and I am still unhappy with them. If people don't sound like themselves, then what's the point? If you can't distinguish them by speech at least to a certain degree, then what's the point of your characterisation? Bad dialogue makes characters flat, it glues them to the page. With good dialogue, with an awareness of their speech pattern, they will just pop off the page!
Plus, I think dialogue's funny. A lot of my ideas for scenes come to me in the form of dialogue. The Harry/Charlie/Marco clown car? Absolute delight, but you probably noticed anyways how much I love Harry and Charlie bickering with each other.
Oh ... the emotions ... thank you :') I'm always worried about those the most. You read so many amazing pieces of literature that touch you, you read fanfics that tear your heart asunder and then you stare at your own Word doc and think 'This ain't it'. You've been reading this scene for the 1000th time, you know what comes before and what comes after it by hear. You've deleted and rewritten it at least thrice. You maybe finally find out what the emotional core is but are still pretty sure that you failed to connect it to the scene you've written. It's so hard for me to capture emotions, or believe I did, because I don't believe in the Sturm-und-Drang genius author. I don't believe writing only works because you've been kissed by the muse and in a flurry of inspiration, you write down the perfect scene. I believe that writing is hard work. Hard. Work. And it sucks sometimes, because you know what you need to do or want to do but simply can't put it on the page. So this feedback is super appreciated. Not to be wholly self-depreciating, some scenes I wrote also still get me when I reread them. It's not impossible to experience the emotions as an author, too, and one should love one's writing anyways. If you don't like it, who else will? But yeah, scenes like the Charco love confession, Dolcetto's chase of the twins through the hotel, his breakdown in his car later and Francesco's complete meltdown ... it still gets me. And there are other scenes and stories that still get me! I think I am good at writing subtle moments! Just what feels like real life! Listen, yes, I want to rewrite a lot of my stories, but not because I hate my writing. It's because I love the stories and I know they could be better ... more emotional ... Imagine how much longer the list of scenes could be once I've rewritten the main series!!!
Oh, also, for more subtle emotions or also just scenes I am proud of - My res publica AU, definitely. I love the politicking and I love everyone's relationships and issues and feelings in it. It's a good fun read I swear and also, I have way too many unfinished snippets for that AU, jesus -
