I love it when I complain about certain things not having more representation, like when a show or movie doesn't have any LGBT characters even if it should, then my family shoots in with "Oh, don't ruin this for me by complaining" or "But they're making plans to add a gay character in eventually"
Like, cool cool cool, glad we'll get one gay person at some point even though it totally could've happened way sooner and I'm glad that you all get to see yourselves represented while I just get ridiculed when I even just suggest that a character could be gay

"-- And she just touched my hand by accident and I just felt this–  this spark between us…"
It was so sweet how he was talking about it. Or at least it would be were this not your fiancé explaining how he had been seeing another person behind your back. Had you rushed into things with him? Gotten hitched after three months because of familial pressure to settle down and start your family? Quite possibly.
But it didn't make that stabbing in your gut hurt any less.
You had been a little gung-ho from date number 1, but he had been right there with you the whole time. Date number 2 happened the following weekend and then you just kept seeing each other more and more until before you knew it you had been introduced to each other's extended families and announced your engagement on Valentine's Day.
You started to suspect something was amiss on Sunday, when you were braiding your hair on the bed and he had gone to take a shower. He accidentally set his phone screen aside with a text chat still open. Thinking nothing of it (he had already told you he was talking to Mark about getting drinks tonight), you looked at the name and saw it belonged to a woman you had never heard of before. Your immediate reaction was 'she must be a new coworker or a cousin,' but then you glanced again and saw the text conversation mirrored the same kind of ‘sentiments’ he texts you.
The dirt burned into your brain for eternity:
Tumblr media
You had looked away then. You were actually not going to say anything at all to him that night– had planned to bring it up after Tuesday dinner with your auntie's family, but something came up. It turns out that Jessabelle also frequented the same Starbucks as you (and she's your age, not a teen like you worried). You can't even find it in you to be mad at her since it seemed like she had no idea who you were when she showed you the picture of her date at a baseball game. You tried not to puke as you asked for her number and to send her that picture "for her contact profile."
You hadn't heard a word your fiance had said since the beginning of the phone call and you cut him off with some excuse you barely remember. You tossed your phone carelessly onto the couch and laid back on the cushions in defeat. What now?
You weren't really a drinker or a smoker, and you didn't exactly have friends who would be supportive right now. You could hear them now, your family too– asking you what you did wrong, telling you to just forgive him or how to get even, or simply saying 'well what do you expect? Boys will be boys.'
Maybe… no, you definitely need to get this off your chest before you do something stupid like pretend to forget about it. You had a bad habit of that because you tend to fall fast and hard. Perhaps your neighbor could give you some advice.
Thank the Lord for fire escapes. Rob lived on the floor beneath you, always playing something good from her huge collection of vinyl records. You've told her at least a hundred times before if she played nothing but Phil Collins for the rest of eternity, you could die happy. You crossed your fingers and hoped you weren't being weird or invading her privacy.
Thankfully, she seemed to be expecting you. She even motioned that the latch was undone and waved you inside. Ok the second wine glass made your face grow hot.
"I'm not interrupting am I?"
Rob gave you a warm smile. "I could hear you pacing around your kitchen for about an hour. Was about to come and get you actually."
She pressed the glass into your hand and you made an effort not to grimace. Rob liked her drinks cheap and strong and she never held back. You tried a sip just to be polite, and she snorted at the face you pulled.
"That's right, you like that sweet stuff. What's it called again?"
"Stella Rosa," you mumbled, grateful when she takes the glass back and hands you a water to replace it.
"Favorite flavor," she asked looking at her phone.
"Uh… the peach and the rosé. They're all pretty good, not gonna lie."
"OK, take this, grab a blanket from the hall closet, and tell me what's going on."
You curled up on Rob's couch and put your feet up. There were piles of records all over the place, empty beer cans and a pizza box or two on the coffee table. Your neighbor tapped away at her phone screen before silencing it and slipping it in her back pocket. She gave you a minute or two to speak up, sipping her drink like you two had all night. Which actually you did as you did not want to see your fiancé right now.
You felt two fingers gently tap your forehead. "Come on, dreamer, tell me what's going on in that head of yours."
You swallow the lump in your throat. "I feel a little over dramatic saying my life is about to fall apart."
Rob raised her eyebrows at you. "Damn, OK."
You rush to correct yourself– explain your weird sentiment in more detail but you end up just vomiting words until your voice is hoarse.
"I mean– like– like it's not falling apart per say or whatever– I… the rest of my life is fine its just my relationship that's screwed. Which I guess I'm more worried about because it's gonna screw up all my other relationships for a while too– dang it, let me start over–"
"Babe! Slow down. Breathe." Rob switched drinks with you and against your better judgement you took a sip. Oddly enough it did calm you down. "So… it's your fiancé, right? What did he do?"
You stared at her trying to unscramble your thoughts. "He… I found out he was kind of... dating another person. After I found out, he tried to explain that he didn't think I would mind–"
Rob barked, "let me guess: he didn't think you were exclusive? Pull the Main Chick, Side Chick schtick? Tried to claim 'polyamory' after he got caught?"
Two and two clicked together at last. "Yeah… yeah, he did!," you scoffed, "and it's not like it didn't ever come up in conversation: we spent our third date talking out our, like, sexualities and fantasies and fetishes and shit. If he was polyamorous, wh- why wouldn't he have brought it up then?"
"That is so fucked."
You took a deeper draft of her wine, coughing before setting it aside. Up until now, you've been numb. Now there's this wave of anger boiling up to the surface and you hear yourself getting louder. Rob doesn't flinch but she does give you this look of empathy unlike anything you've seen before.
"If he– if he would have just asked me, I would have told him it was fine. My family does shit like that all the time: nobody bats an eye! If he really thought I wouldn't mind, he wouldn't have been so freaking sneaky about it. He literally lied, Robyn!"
You whipped around and for a brief moment you knew you looked crazy. "He said he was going out for drinks with his guy friend, but he was making plans to go to a baseball game with a girl I've never heard of! If he really thought I wouldn't mind, or if he 'thought I would understand,' then why would go out of his way to lie about who he was with?"
Someone buzzed Rob's door and she left you on the couch momentarily, coming back quickly with two bottles of your favorite wine. "Damn girl, these are kinda bougie: Peach or Rosé?"
"I--"you choked, "Robyn you didn't have to–"
"Peach it is!" She unscrewed the caps and handed you the whole freaking bottle of white, downing the last of her merlot and getting a fresh glass for you.
You felt a little guilty she had spent money on you. But then again it had been her choice. If she didn't want you there, Rob wouldn't have let you in in the first place. Maybe you were just a tinsy bit worried you shouldn't be here.
You and Rob took a break from talking to put on music and get a little tipsy. It came much easier with the help of the Stella Rosa, though Rob initially complained it was 5.5%, she did get accustomed to the sweetness pretty fast, and after consuming half the bottle, realized it was a little easier to get carried away with a drink like this. She admitted it was her first time trying rosé and now she was hooked. Eventually you started talking again, just spilling your guts out with no filter anymore.
"I really think I just hate myself," you said cuddling the cool glassware. "When I found out, I wasn't even thinking of it as a betrayal of my trust– it felt like I was trying to come to terms with it so I could continue with the relationship. Not because it would make me happy but because… I don't know… it's what everybody else wants me to do. They don't even know about it and I was fully prepared not to tell them even though they'd want me to marry him whether they knew or not."
Rob barked a laugh of surprise. "Doh-K!"
"What?"
"Nothing, nothing…" she said, "keep going."
You stared off into the middle distance and leaned into her side. She was a tiny bit warm despite her lithe figure. Made you want to throw your blanket over her shoulders and share your greater warmth.
So you did (you're not great at acting out your desires but this is nice!)
"It's just easier," the words left your mouth unbidden, "I don't even know what that means, but it's true. I don't want to marry him anymore but I don't want to break it off. Not marrying Fiancé means disappointing my family. It means having to find an entire new man to marry sooner rather than later because I'm already 'behind' and lowering my already low expectations.
"It's not gonna make me happy, but I just think it's easier to keep this wedding going because at least I won't have to find somebody new who might not be as good for me just because I didn't want him. Another man won't make me happy so there's no reason to drop him... except that I don't want him."
Rob's brow furrowed. "Are you saying it's easier for you to please your family than it is to be happy?"
"Yes? I– no, I– … I don't know," you sigh. "I guess you could say my priorities are a little… mismanaged."
"Sure, you could say that." Rob wrapped her arms around your shoulders and you inhaled the scent of her soap and cigarettes. "What if you tried… like… not doing that anymore...? You just said you do whatever your family wants you to do. So, just like do what makes you happy for a change."
It really does sound so simple the way she puts it, doesn't it? Why are you doing this to yourself? You're not dependent on them for money or security or happiness for that matter. So... why has your whole life been centered around pleasing them?
"I think… I think I've never really sat down and thought about what makes me happy," you admitted. "I think it's just been that way forever and I might have been too scared to try anything else."
Rob hummed. "Are you still scared now?"
Are you? You look into her eyes and ask yourself a question that has never crossed your mind with such depth. You used to be scared– but what is it about your happiness that you are so afraid of? OK, let’s start a little simpler: what are things that make you happy?
“I like…” you swallowed, trying to break down the barriers you’ve built years and years ago. “I like… coffee. I like… short skirts. I like… girls– I like… my job. I like… music. I think I’d enjoy camping, you know, some day…”
Your words… these things seemed so arbitrary and trivial. But in your house, these things cause dissent. “My family has an opinion about everything. There’s no right way to live in all of their eyes, but I think I figured out a way to get past it. Keep my head down and do what’s expected of me. Graduate college, get a respectable job, find a man to marry, drop the job and become a mother. Just… don’t make waves. It seemed better because the cousins who didn’t or couldn’t… well they became the butt of every joke at the family dinner. Lisa had one miscarriage so she was a ‘failure’ and Don never dated girls so he was gay and that was ‘bad,’ but grandma Zelda did everything a good Christian woman could do and they still gossiped about her behind her back…
“And I just… I just let their ignorance control me for my entire life.” God, you could cry right now, but somehow it just felt too good to say it outloud. “That.. that is so fucked.”
Robyn snorted, and you turned to her as if you’d forgotten she was there. There it was again, that sympathy. Not pity, she did not burden you with tears of her own or try to be angry for you. She just listened and understood. You twisted the diamond encrusted ring on your finger and stared at her. You felt it, that feeling in your heart. No one else had given you that look, like she could really see you.
“You’re not going back to Fiancé, are you?” Her question was equal parts worrisome and hopeful and you already knew the answer in your heart.
“No.”
And that was it. Decision made. Actually easier than you'd thought. Maybe not down the road but it felt good for now. There's the telling your fiancé it's over, the moving out, the public announcement, the inevitable feeling of failure, your family, god, his family too. Untangling your lives would be long and hard. You're not sure if you have that level of commitment and motivation in you but fuck it. Problems for tomorrow.
You rest your head on Rob's shoulder and hope your not pushing any boundaries. She doesn't stop you though, in fact she snuggles you deeper into her. You get the feeling she's been here before though your not sure which side or how bad it was for her.
"I like you way more in the few times I've met you than any man I've ever dated," you heard yourself say. "I'm sure that means something but I'm too tired to decide anymore. No tonight at least."
Rob chuckled. "I like you too, sugar."
If you made it this far, hi 💛 appreciate you, leave me a comment! Or just comment "💛"

Spotlight: A Life Of A Troubled Celebrity Heartthrob Chapter 6
Word Count: 4,766
"This way please," the usher led Colson and Y/N to their table. There were people already seated at the table and Y/N's eyes widened as she recognized some of them.
"Sorry we're late, we had a bit of a stalker situation," Colson announced to the table as he pulled out a chair for Y/N.
"Sweets these are my friends-friends this is my wife. Let's fine tune the details later shall we?" Colson said, as he took a seat next to Y/N.
"Hi," Y/N waved shyly at everyone.
"Dude-you cannot drop a bomb like that and-sorry Y/N I'm Dominic-and this is my heartbeat, Maya," Dom held out his hand and Y/N couldn't help but stare.
"Oh my gosh! Dominic Harrison!" she whimpered.
"That's what she said," Dom and Colson fist-bumped and high-fived each other, laughing. Dom's wife gave him the eye and he winked at her. Dom was topping the charts along with Colson. It was no wonder they were friends.
"Never mind these two delinquents," Maya said rolling her eyes, "I'm Maya and this here is Riley and Nathan her husband."
"Y/F/N Y/L/N," Y/N extended her hand.
"Point of correction sweets- you're now a Baker. I made it official," Colson raised her hand and kissed her wedding ring.
"Duly noted husband," Y/N smiled.
"Colson Baker you're so extra," Maya rolled her eyes again, "I'm going to the rest room, I need a break from all of you," Dom stood and kissed her before letting her go.
"I think I'll come with you, if you don't mind," Y/N said, as she followed behind.
"So how's married life so far?" Maya asked as they freshened up their already perfect make-up.
"Complicated," Y/N said.
"I know but it gets better. Promise," she squeezed Y/N's hand.
"A couple of months ago, I never expected any of this..I guess I will have to adjust with time," she voiced her concerns.
"I know..it took me a bit of time to adjust but Dominic was so patient with me. Just be patient with Colson, he may seem a bit difficult at times but he's a good guy deep down inside. It may be hard now but don't put too much pressure on yourself, just take it one day at a time okay?" Maya reassured her.
"Thank you," Y/N smiled, "I really needed to hear that."
"Do you want to exchange numbers? I might get busy but I can always call you back if you send me an app or something," Maya took her phone out of her bag, "what's your number?"
"You don't have to Maya, I know how busy you are and I wouldn't want to impose-" Y/N protested.
"Y/N, you're one of us now..Colson and Dom are like family..and I know how overwhelming it can be," Maya laid a hand on Y/N's shoulder, "I think you could use a friend who is in the same struggles, don't you think?"
"Yeah, you're right. Most of my friends a still in college and are as clueless as I am," Y/N punched her number into Amaya's phone and she did the same.
"Y/F/N Baker! Can I have my wife back please?" Dom called out from behind the door.
"Same goes for you Maya Eve-Harrison!" Colson voiced.
"You two are incorrigible!" Maya remarked as the door swung open.
"That's why you love me babe," Dom put his hand over her shoulder and kissed her cheek.
"What took you so long sweets?" Colson said as he put his hand around her waist.
"Maya was just telling me all your deep, dark secrets," Y/N teased and Colson laughed.
"If you wanted to know all you had to do was ask Bambi. But you would have to listen at your own risk and I would have to put a disclaimer on everything that I told you..plus divorce is not an option," he put a hand on her exposed back and electricity shot through her body, by just a simple touch.
"Colson, we still haven't had "the talk"," she stopped and looked up at him, "I still don't know what we are.."
"Are you hungry?" Colson asked.
"What's that-"
"Yes or no?" he persisted.
"Not really.." she furrowed her brow, wondering where he was going with this.
"Good. We can go and have that talk now. Come this way," he led her out into a dimly lit garden and they sat on a padded bench, in a secluded area.
"We don't have to do it now-I was just-" Y/N started. She had no words to say now that she was presented with the opportunity. she had gone over this conversation so many times in her head but now that Colson was sitting here, right in front of her, staring at her with those intense ocean-blue eyes and angelic face, she froze-mesmerized with how gorgeous he truly was.
"You know what they say Bambi; strike while it hot sweets," he took her hand and rubbed the back of her palm like he usually did. If only he knew how that affected her..her hear was beating against her rib-cage and she was sure he could hear it.
"Let me go first?" he suggested.
"No-let me..There's something I need to tell you first.." she pursed her lips into a thin line.
"You know that you can trust me right?" he tilted her chin up gently.
"Yes..that's why I need to tell you..that..I was once raped by my ex-boy-"
"Y/N stop..you don't have to re-live that whole thing again," Colson held her by the shoulders and saw tears glistening in her eyes.
"Let me..I want to.." she bit her bottom lip, "Don't interrupt okay?" Colson nodded quietly.
"We had been dating for about two years and it was on prom night. We had already agreed that we wouldn't have sex like everyone else had planned but we would wait until after college or whenever I felt I was ready," tears rolled down her cheeks as she narrated the horrible ordeal, "We went to an after party at one of his friend's house since the parents were away-and I only had a couple of drinks but I started to feel woozy and I asked him to take me home, but he carried me to a room upstairs and told me to lie down for a bit."
"Did he-" Colson clenched his fist and Y/N held a hand to his lips and continued. It was obvious that he had used the oldest trick in the book-the date **** drug
"He started to strip off my dress as soon as he locked the door-I tried to protest-to push him off to reason with him..but he was like man..possessed..he had a scary look on his face and it's like he couldn't hear what I was saying.." she gulped and Colson wiped the tears from her face, his heart breaking along with hers.
"I was powerless..he raped me..repeatedly..until I passed out," she shook as sobs racked her body. Colson pulled her into his arms and held her as she cried. Never had he felt such intense pain for another human being-he felt like some one had ripped his heart out and beat in with a hammer until it was in shreds. He blinked back tears unsuccessfully, until he just allowed them to slide down his face, uninhibited.
Colson had never felt the need or instinct to protect anyone but that feeling invaded his mind, body and soul right now. He would find the bastard and make him rue the day he saw the light of day. Anyone who caused Y/N such unspeakable pain deserved nothing better than to pay for what he did. Colson soothed her the only way he knew how..he sang.

"You're perfect Y/N. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise. Let's get out of here," Colson said as he stood and pulled her up along with him.
*********************************************
It was the last week of the tour and the last stop was in Brussels. Those that had left during only left Ashleigh and Reggie. Y/N was disqualified from the competition since she was married to Colson. Sommer was obviously eliminated after a month but she stayed on as Slim's girlfriend. Slim was fired but was serving his notice until the end of the tour. He was hospitalized a couple of more times due to an OD but he still refused to go back to rehab.
Sommer was equally hooked but she had brief moments of sanity now and again. Colson had washed his hands of them both and was trying to get his life back on track. He had a few slip ups but they were less frequent.
"Yes Mom, I will be home after the weekend," Y/N said as she spoke to her Mom on Facetime.
"Which home?" Mrs Y/M/L/N asked with slight irritation.
"I-We haven't decided yet," Y/N frowned. She would have to speak to Colson about their living arrangements when they got back home.
"Hmmph..So does that mean you're not coming back to Cleveland? What about school? You're already two weeks behind," she reprimanded her daughter.
"I know-I will catch up okay?" Y/N sighed. She avoided calling her mother nowadays because it always ended badly. Mrs Y/M/L/N had altercations with her daughter every chance she got and it was beginning to take it's toll. When would her mother get over the fact that she was a grown woman and capable of making her own decisions? After all she was a married woman now wasn't she?
"Don't waste your life for-" Mrs Y/M/L/N began to lecture.
"Listen Mom, I've got to go. Love you bye." Y/N slammed her MacBook shut and sighed heavily as she massaged her temples.
"Everything okay Bambi?" Colson said as he climbed into bed with her. They were sleeping in the same bed ever since their heart to heart but hadn't been intimate yet. Colson didn't want to pressure her after confession. He promised Y/N he wouldn't take it to the next level unless and until she explicitly told him so, in her sober senses preferably.
Over the weeks she came close to telling him because it became more and more difficult for her to exercise restraint. Especially when he spooned her in nothing but his boxers, what was a girl to do? Maybe it was time for her to stop throwing subtle hits and just seduce him or come out and say it. He was her husband after all wasn't he?
"It's Mom but let's not talk about it okay?" she fluffed her pillow and faced him.
"I'm all in sweets," he said softly, "You know that right?" he stroked her cheek gently with the back of his hand.
"Yes, but-it's nice to hear you finally say it?" she couldn't help but smile.
"Did you ever doubt it? Did I ever give you a reason to-scratch that?" he shook his head and laughed, "Look I don't know how to relationship because I haven't-what I'm trying to say is you make me better. I'm willing to try to be a better man..for you," he pledged.
"Colson-I want to believe you but-I'm scared.." she revealed, her lips trembling.
"I know baby," he held her head against his chest and stroked her hair, "I'm scared too..I've never done this before and-I'm afraid to hurt you. I would rather die first than to break your heart again," he lamented.
"I don't know if I can trust you with my heart-and yet I still want to be with you," she confessed. Y/N had known this all along but she could no longer be in denial. She was in love with Colson Baker but she wasn't sure how he felt. She knew she was skirting on thin ice by putting her heart on the line, but the heart wants what it wants.
"I've tried to stay away from you-believe me I've tried..but it's like the harder I try the more I'm drawn to you. You keep pulling me in like a magnet.. I can't seem to get away from you no matter how hard I try," he turned to look at her, his blue eyes reflecting a stormy sea.
"Maybe we weren't meant to be?" she whispered, her voice breaking.
"Please don't say that?" he held her face, his eyes silently pleading with her.
"It doesn't have to be this hard," she sighed in defeat.
"Then we shouldn't make it hard," he implored, "let's take each day as it comes. I'm willing to try Y/N...and for me that's saying a lot."
It was after 2am and they had just got back from the airport but Colson felt like they needed to have this talk, sooner rather than later. He didn't want to drag her along blindly, she had a right to know where she stood. If he wasn't certain before he was certain now..he would give this relationship all he had.
"I know..but I don't want to put my heart out there and-"
"I will never hurt you intentionally-or let me put it this way; I apologize in advance and ask for your forgiveness in advance- for anything that I might do or say to hurt you. I'm still new at this so please be patient with me baby? Can you do that for me? For us?" he cajoled.
"Okay..let's give it a try," their eyes met and his lips tilted up involuntarily.
"Really sweets? You're sure? I'm not going to let you change you mind after this. I know I'm a bit intoxicated- but I will remember this." he laughed softly.
She seemed uncertain and he really didn't want to pressure her into anything but all he knew was that he wanted this girl in his life. He would do anything to keep her, even if it meant him making some drastic lifestyle changes. Maybe then she would be convinced about how serious he was about their relationship.
"Yeah. I'm sure," she nodded, smiling.
Although she wasn't certain of the consequences of her decision-and she knew there would be- she wanted to be with him. Against her better judgement she agreed to his terms and she hoped that he was as sincere as he looked.
"Thank you baby..you don't know how much this means to me," Colson heaved a sigh of relief.
"Just promise me that we will always be honest with each other-no matter how painful," Y/N swallowed hard, "Promise?"
"I promise," Colson replied with sincerity as he leaned forward and moulded his lips with hers.
*********************************************
"You need to get up and get ready Bambi," Colson called out from the bathroom, "I need you to accompany me somewhere in the next hour."
"Where are we going this time Baker?" she mumbled as she stumbled out of bed and shuffled into the bathroom.
"You'll see," he smiled and kissed her forehead; before walking out of the room.
"Ahhh," Y/N massaged her temples as she sat on the toilet seat, "My head..."she groaned loudly.
Her head was pounding and she felt like it didn't belong to her. She had become addicted to brufen and alcohol she admitted grudgingly to herself. They had another wild after party after Colson's concert. Tomorrow he was closing off his tour and they would be another party to seal the tour. Life with Colson was a constant party and the only way she could cope was alcohol and more alcohol, day after day, event after event, party after party, night after night.
"We will sleep it off sweets don't over think it. It's not like you have work or school tomorrow. Just let loose okay?" was Colson's mantra for her.
Colson was always the life of the party and always surrounded by people. Y/N had learned the names of some of them but she met new faces almost everyday and she couldn't keep up. A part of her missed home (minus her grouchy mother) and her friends..her real friends. She was kind of relieved to be heading back home on Sunday evening. This lifestyle was draining and it was turning her into something that she's not.
Y/N turned on the shower head and the warm water beat down her back soothingly. She turned around as she heard Colson open door.
"Your outfit is on the bed sweets. Please hurry we're running late," he said said and left quickly. He closed the door and leaned against it. This was harder than he thought and it was the longest he had gone without getting some. This celibacy thing was going to be the death of him.
"Deep breaths Colson," he mumbled to himself before dashing out again.
"Let's go Baker," Y/N tapped on his door and when he didn't respond she went into the room to search for him. She heard someone throwing up in the bathroom so she made her way there. Colson was kneeling over the toilet wrenching his guts out.
"Are you okay babe?" Y/N knelt beside him and rubbed his back. He nodded weakly before spilling his guts out once again. Y/N got a wet towel and wiped the sweat of his face and looked at him with concern. She got water in a glass and gave it to him to rinse him. He rinsed his mouth and collapsed back onto the floor.
"Rain-check?" He groaned as he leaned against the wall. His shirt was lying on the floor; his jeans unbuttoned, leaving his torso in full view. Y/N tried not to stare and concentrated on his pale face instead.
"Yeah-of course," she furrowed her brows, "are you okay?" she absently rubbed his jean-clad thigh.
"I'm-not sweets-I'm not," he shook his head. His face was flushed; beads of sweat were forming on his forehead again.
"Can I drive you to the hospital or something?"she crouched in front of him and pushed his hair back as she felt his temperature, "you're burning up babe!" she exclaimed as she stood up, picked up his shirt from the floor and gave it to him, "we're going to the hospital now-no arguments please,"she said firmly as she helped him put his shirt back on.
"Hmm, you're so sexy when you talk tough Bambi," he drawled.
"It's nice to see you still have your perverted sense of humor," she commented dryly, "Can you get up or should I get Jax?"
"I gave him the day off sweets. It's just you and me today," he scrunched his face and pushed himself up against the wall and staggered out of the room, with Y/N's help.
"Which car are we taking?" Y/N asked as she scanned the car keys lined on the garage wall.
"Ferrari would be fitting for this I guess. The sooner we get there the better-." he winced, his breathing unsteady.
"You're going to let me drive your Ferrari??" Y/N was shocked to say the least.
"It's no biggy sweets. You're my wife aren't you? What's mine is yours," he kissed her softly and smiled.
"Is that so Baker?" Y/N tried not to blush.
"Sure thing babe," he winked at her.
Y/N opened the car door and helped him slip inside. She adjusted the seat so he could lie back and strapped his seat belt. She jumped into the car and smiled at Baker as she drove out of the garage. He winked at her again, squeezing her hand before lying back on his seat. She couldn't believe that she was driving a Ferrari-and not just any Ferrari-it was Colson Baker's prized possession.
"You okay..?" Y/N glanced over at him briefly.
"Yeah.." Colson said with his eyes still closed, his teeth chattering.
"According to the GPS we're almost there," she glanced at him, trying not to panic.
"I trust you baby. Do what you need to do okay?" Colson's body began to tremble slightly as Y/N swerved the car in front of the hospital's entrance, "Can you walk or should I get a nurse to bring a stretcher or wheelchair?" she unbuckled her seat belt and went over to his side.
"No..I think I can manage..just help me out," he stepped out of the car and put his arm around Y/N's shoulder. Fortunately, the hospital wasn't so busy so they were assisted quickly. The nurse led them into the private ward and helped place him on the bed.
"Dr Lander will be here shortly," she announced before leaving.
Y/N sank into a chair by his bedside and took his hand. He seemed to have gotten worse, his face was pale and he was sweating profusely. At least he was in a place where he could get help, she thought to herself.
"Good evening, I am Dr Lander. What can we do for the famous Colson Baker?" the doctor asked as he stepped forward and began to examine Colson, "you must be..his girlfriend?" He looked like he had just graduated from med school and was part of Colson's band.
"I'm his-" Y/N began.
"She's my wife Doctor, so she's off limits," Colson threatened.
"Okay, now that's out of the way, let's get down to why you're here," Dr Lander laughed and put a thermometer under Colson's arm.
"I feel lousy," Colson mumbled.
"Care to elaborate on that Mr Baker?"
"Sweets, can you?" he asked, breathless.
"He was throwing up and is feverish. So I brought him here," Y/N advised, "That's all I got- sorry Doc," she shrugged.
"I think that should suffice," Dr Lander pursed his lips as he began to type on his iPad, "I think it's either food or alcohol poisoning. Have you been drinking a lot?"
"Yeah..we have..," Y/N said, guilt written all over her face.
"I figured," he muttered, "You're on tour right?" Dr Lander asked.
"Yeah," Colson replied, "No lectures please okay Doc?"
"Got it," he nodded, "How about a prescription and a recommendation for a thorough detox?" Dr Lander suggested.
"I think I can work with that Doc," Colson answered.
"Great, let me get you on a drip and get a nurse to prepare the rest of your meds. Sounds good?" he started to set up the drip while he talked.
"Music to my ears Doc," Colson replied.
"Just one last request..you don't happen to have any concert tickets lying around do you? I tried to get but they were sold out on the first day they went on sale," he sighed.
"I can do you a real solid and get you two VIP tickets," Colson grinned at the doctor.
"Really??" Dr Lander gushed, "My girlfriend is going to be so..Wow! Thanks a lot man!" Dr Lander couldn't stop smiling, "let me get your other meds. I'll be right back so we can discuss the concert further."
"Babe- not to be a party-pooper but do you think you will be well enough to perform tomorrow night?" Y/N asked with concern
"I'll be okay sweets. I feel better already actually," Colson took her hand and brushed his fingers over it like he liked to do. She almost lost her trail of thought but she fought to focus on what they were talking about.
"If you're sure," she replied with uncertainty.
"Hey, I'll be okay. Don't worry you pretty little head," he lifted her hand to his lips, "Thanks for caring Bambi," he winked at her.
"Right, I think I've got everything," Dr Lander burst into the room after some time, "I think you can go home with your beautiful wife."
"She's is a beauty isn't she Doc? And she doesn't even know it," Y/N blushed as Colson looked at her pointedly. He sat up as the doctor removed the drip.
"Well at least she has you to remind her constantly and to sing about it too," Dr Lander smiled.
"Thanks for everything Doc. My driver will drop off your tickets tomorrow morning," Colson said as they walked out of the hospital.
"Thanks Colson. I really appreciate it man. I am such a huge fan! My girlfriend too.. You have no idea what this means to me," Dr Lander beamed, "Nice wheels! Wow!" he walked round the car, trailing his fingers on the body.
"If you're not too busy you can join us for the after party at the hotel. We're staying at the Hilton," Colson offered before he jumped into the car.
"I'm so there man! Can I bring my girlfriend along?"
"Of course. I'm going to string mine along as always," Colson smiled at Y/N.
"Great! See you tomorrow then," Dr Lander waved at them as they drove off.
"Are you feeling any better?" Y/N asked Colson, her eyes fixed on the road.
"Yeah, thanks for being here for me sweets. I appreciate it," he squeezed her hand.
"That's what wives are for," she winked at him and turned on the radio.
"Welcome back to 93.3 ALT FM! It's your girl Brinna! Rumor has it that America's hottest heart-throb has been snatched off the market. It's a sad day for the female species-me included... Anyway here's his latest offering simply entitled "She's Got Me"; indeed she has got you on lockdown Colson!"

What A Wonderful Life!
Pairing: Chris Evans x Reader
Summary: Chris looks back at the journey of his life with you.
Warning: fluff with angst. My bad writing and no proofreading.
A/N: Please feel free to shower your likes, comments and reblogs. Kindly do no post my work anywhere else without my consent.
Asks and requests are open.
--❤--
Its been more than 24 hours and Chris has been sitting on the same chair. He has been tired and exhausted but he also knew he couldn't just leave, not when he had to talk to you. Tell you so much and hear so much from you. So, yes he cannot leave and take rest, not yet. He stifled a yawn when your elder son Kevin, walked into the room, flanked by his wife and his two kids. The kids ran towards their grandpa to give him hug and seek permission if they could hug their grams, you.
Chris kissed their forehead and told them they could hug you but with care. The toddlers obeying their grandpa left feather kisses on your forehead before zooming out of the room. "Dad," Kevin called Chris, "you should get some rest. We will look after mom while you rest." Your second son, Jeremy walked in with soup for his father, "Kevin is right dad."
Chris took the soup from his hand and smiled at both his sons, "if there is one thing you don't know about your mom is that she would like to see me first when she'd wake up." Jeremy laughed, "dad that was a long back. I'm sure mom changed." "43 years I have spent with this woman here and I know one.thing is that she's very stubborn."
At this point Kevin's wife stepped in realising Chris wouldn't leave you alone, "let Chris be with her. If he feels tired he can sleep next to her. There is a plenty of room in this bed." Finally giving in both your sons bid you both good night and left telling Chris to wake them up if needed. As they were exiting, your daughter Aria rushed in. She was the youngest, most pampered and a total daddy's princess. "How is she?" She asked choking in her tears. Chris wiped her tears and spoke, "Aria, honey I don't like to see you cry and neither does your mom. By the way, did you leave the shoot in between?" "Dad! I took a break until mom is well and I guess everyone at the production understood my need." Chris nodded understanding, after all he has spent a life time in Hollywood. He asked Aria to go and rest as she had flown back all the way from Africa where she was shooting for a new film.
--❤--
As Aria walked out closing the door behind her, Chris sat next to you on the bed. "Honey, you got everyone worried. You were always a drama queen. Trying to keep the limelight on you, right from the moment we met and even now." Few tears slipped from the corner of his eyes as he took your hand in his wrinkled hands.
Two days back, you were involved in a terrible fall in your bathroom. Although there were no external injuries but the doctors never were able to stop the internal bleeding. Owing to your diabetic condition, they ruled out surgery. Although they wanted to keep you in hospital but Chris knew it was about time and he brought you home against everyone's wish.
Chris and you have a secret promise that you'd never let the other one go from this world on a cold hospital bed. When your kids refused to give into his demands, he had to let the secret out. They gave in when they came to know about your wish. They set up an ICU in your bedroom, the same bedroom that you shared with Chris as his wife for 43 years and his companion for 45 years.
--❤--
"45 years." Chris sighed as he kissed your hand, "we go a long time back kid. Remember our first meeting?"
You had come to meet Chris on the sets of Captain America: Civil War. Well your friend forced you to because you weren't the fan of superhero movies. The day you visited the set, Chris had brought Dodger with him. And as soon as you saw that cute pupper, you screamed, "oh my god! So handsome." Chris thought you were complimenting him and he replied with a thank you. You gave him a ridiculous look and said, "this was meant for this cutie not you." Needless to say he was shocked and became the butt of jokes for Mackie, RDJ and everyone else.
"You know Mackie still teases me about our first meeting," Chris laughed as he recollected the moment. Chris Evans had to work hard to pursue you and it took an Avengers level of efforts from the whole cast to make you agree to go on a date with him. On your first date itself Chris knew that you were the woman he has been waiting for. You were funny, mature, goofy, ambitious yet grounded. You had the same values as him, family comes first. But there was one problem, you were 13 years you get than him. But after having a chat with Lisa and Scott he realised age is just a number. You made him feel young, happy and above all content with his life.
However, making your parents agree to it was little tough. Their conservative background didn't allow them to let their daughter marry a guy with huge age gap, who was white as they were not, and most of all he was a Hollywood actor. Chris proposed that they should meet him once before they decide if he wasn't good enough for their daughter. He invited them for a dinner at their house. The whole Evans family left no stone unturned to charm your family and needless to say before the night ended your parents blessed your reunion.
"Do you remember our wedding honey?" Chris asked even though he knew he won't get any answer. You both had been to a Disney trip before Christmas with your reapective families. One the last night as you watched the fireworks, you got the crazy idea that you should get married. Chris loved Disney, you loved him and both your families were together. Chris thought you were crazy, and you were but Scott took second the idea. You extended the trip by two more days to give you time to buy a decent outfit and rings. Two days later Chris and you were married in the Disney chapel where mickey and minnie were your ring bearers and Scott was the wedding official. You threw a grand party when you came back to Boston but your chapel wedding at Disney land is your and Chris' favorite memory.
--❤--
"There is never a dull moment with you honey." And he was right. Your life has been a roller coaster ride where you had seen many ups and down. You have seen Chris grow as an actor, director, producer and later on a successful senator. You were the wonderful beneath his wings and he was the wing beneath yours. It was Chris who encouraged you to quit your job and start your own venture of designing homes. Your first project was your Concord mansion and it turned out to be beautiful. It gave you confidence and you soon became a force to reckon. You set up an amazing studio and years later your son Kevin met his wife there.
Ah! Your kids. How happy was Chris when you told him that you were pregnant. He didn't let you put your feet down and kept you wrapped in feathers. You had three kids with him and all of them grew up to be amazing. Kevin, your oldest son followed the foot prints of his father into politics and took ASP to great heights. Your middle child Jeremy, he loved cooking. Ever since he was young he'd always assist you in kitchen and it qas only obvious he'd because a chef. He was now a chief gourmet chef in a Michelin star restaurant in New York. And last but not the least, your fire cracker daughter, Aria. She took followed her father and became an actor. That girl always had a flair for drama, she made Mackie and Feigi swear on their mothers that they would cast her as the next Captain America and ahe did this when she was 12. Now at 20, she was going to audition for the role. Chris joked that his daughter is eager to take the role that he wanted to run away from.
--❤--
"Hey handsome!" Your feeble voice broke Chris' chain of thoughts. "Hey gorgeous," he kissed your forehead. "Thinking about our journey honey?" You asked rubbing circles over the back of his palm and he nodded his head unable.to speak anything. "You know its time for me right?" You asked looking into his blue eyes that always made.you got weak. Today you see sadness in them.
"Do you have to go?" He asked and you nodded. "Can I come with you?" He asked again. "Christopher my time here is done but you still have some.responsibilities honey. Aria, you have to make sure she learns to not just walk but run in Hollywood. Then there is the official shield handing over ceremony that she's been planning for months because she knows she's gonna be next Captain America." You coughs and Chris gave you some water. After settling down a bit you spoke again, "Chris Evans, you gave me an amazing life, took me to great adventures and gave me three beautiful children. It's been a wonderful life with you. But now I have to go but I promise you it won't be long for you either and I'll be right there waiting for you when it's time. Now let me go Chris. Kiss me goodbye and let me go." You wiped tears from his eyes as he placed his lips on you for one last kiss.
"Still feels like the first time," he joked and you laughed at his stupid joke. He always made you laugh. He knew you have to go know so he would send you with a smile. "Take me in your arms Chris, I want to leave this world from a place where I'm most comfortable."
He slowly slid next to you and opened his arms, just like he did for 45 years. You put your head on his heart and closed your eyes hearing to his heartbeat and he caged you in his embrace. His musk and cedar cologne took over your senses before you slipped into that long sleep.
--❤--
Its been two years since that night, two years since you left the world in your beloved husband's arms. Chris, however, still felt you were there with him. He would sleep on his side of bed only knowing how much you hated when he slipped on your side. He still wore his wedding ring because he are and will always be his wife. For two years he brought birthday, anniversary and valentines flowers for you and he fulfilled the biggest promise he did to you, teach Aria how to survive in Hollywood.
Aria finally made it as Captain America. Marvel organized a huge event at the San Diego comic con where the original Captain America, Chris Evans passed on the shield to the new Captain America, Aria Lisa Evans. He looked up at the sky that night knowing you were watching him and you were happy.
That was two days ago when Aria's new Captain America film.released to rave reviews. She had finally made her mark away from the shadow of her father because they called her the best Captain America in MCU history.
Chris was now ready and eager to join you. That night he went to bed with a content heart and smile. As he slipped into deep slumber, he saw you there waiting for him wearing the same dress that you wore the day you met him first time. "How come you are wearing this outfit?" He asked. "Honey, I'll be wearing what you want to see me in and you will be wearing what I want to see you in. Are you ready?" You asked him and he nodded eagerly. "Then let's go," you extended your hand and Chris wasted no time to entwine it with his and he knew this time there is no separation. This time as you walked through the daisy fields you loved so much, you both will be walking together and forever because you overcame death together.

Don't make these 12 common tax filing mistakes
Federal, and most state, tax returns are a week from today. Don't panic! You still have time to finish your return (or get an extension).
But don't be in such a rush that you make a costly mistake.
Yes, errors on 1040s still happen, even though most of use tax preparation software that catches errors on our annual returns.
Here are a dozen common tax mistakes that millions of taxpayers make every year. Some are directly from the Internal Revenue Service. Others are based on my and other filers' experiences.
1. Missing or inaccurate Social Security numbers: This nine-digit number was not intended to be our universal identifier, but, for better and in this age of identity theft often for worse, that's what the Social Security number has become.
There's been some talk about changing that for tax filing, but until that happens, you've got to include it on your annual return. The IRS won't process a 1040 without it. This identity number requirement extends to you as the primary filer, as well as the Social Security numbers for your spouse and any dependents.
These numerals are crucial because so many tax-related transactions, from income statements to investment earnings to retirement plan contributions and distributions, are keyed to this number.
A Social Security number also is critical when claiming several tax credits, such as the child tax and additional child tax credits, as well as ones for educational expenses and dependent care costs.
At best, a missing Social Security number will slow down the processing of your return. At worst, it could cost you a valuable tax breaks. So be sure to enter on your 1040 each person's number exactly as it's printed on the Social Security card.
2. Misspelled or different names: Sure, the bulk of the information on your tax return is numerical, but words — specifically names — are important, too. Spell all names listed on a tax return exactly as listed on the taxpayers’ Social Security card.
What's the big deal if you've gone by a middle or nickname all your life and enter that on your Form 1040? Plenty. When the names of a taxpayer, his or her spouse or their children don't match the tax identification number that the Social Security Administration has on record, the IRS processing machine likely will kick out or slow down the tax return.
Name issues often are a problem for the newly married. Many folks still change their surnames when they marry, whether the "I do's" are exchanged by a bride and groom or spouses in same-sex marriages, which the IRS now recognizes.
In these cases, if you didn't alert the Social Security Administration (SSA) of your name change after your wedding, your new name on your 1040 or other tax statements could cause a problem when you file your first joint tax return. Get in touch with the SSA ASAP to reconcile this.
The same issue also arises when marital bliss doesn't last and ex-spouses change names after a divorce. Again, make sure Uncle Sam's appropriate agencies know that, too.
3. Improperly claiming a dependent: Sometimes determining just who is your tax dependent can be messy. There are lots of rules about relationships and support earned or provided and who lives for how long in your house. You also must have the Social Security number of the person (see #1), either a child or qualifying relative, you're listing as a dependent on your 1040 or 1040A.
Sometimes the confusion leads to an innocent mistake as to who is eligible to be listed as your tax dependent. Other times, though, folks knowing claim a person as dependent to get the added exemption amount or to claim the refundable Earned Income Tax Credit.
Faking dependents is not a good idea. This is willful disregard of the tax laws and your responsibility to meet them. Such intentional tax violations could lead to tough penalties, sometimes of the criminal nature, on top of the unpaid tax and interest added to it that you thought you were escaping with your fake dependent ploy.
Think the IRS might be too busy to catch your suddenly larger family? Think again. The IRS knows that filers sometimes add people, either real or imaginary or even pets, on their returns. That's why tax examiners look at who has and hasn't been listed before on your returns.
4. Using the wrong filing status: Some taxpayers unintentionally claim the wrong filing status. That innocent error could be costly, such as choosing single in the first tax-filing season since your divorce when you have primary custody of your children and really should be filing as the more tax-beneficial head of household.
Filers have five filing status options, and each could make a difference in your ultimate tax bill.
The IRS' online Interactive Tax Assistant can help you pick the proper filing status. E-file software also helps prevent mistakes here.
Advice from the IRS in Form 1040 instructions.
5. Using whole, rounded numbers: Yes, round numbers are easier to add and subtract. Yes, your tax software rounds entries.
And yes, even the IRS says you can round your dollars and cents on your Form 1040.
But when it comes to deductions and business expenses, it tends to make the IRS think that you're, uh, making up amounts.
OK, I tend to add tip amounts so that meal checks come out to even numbers. But I have those receipts. Other financial transactions, however, rarely end in .00.
At best, all those rounded numbers make it look like you didn't keep good records showing precise amounts. And that could encourage the IRS to take a closer look at all your entries.
6. Entering incorrect bank account numbers: You can have your tax refund directly depositing into a bank account or accounts or retirement plan. That's easy for you and the IRS. Unless you enter the wrong account number and accompanying routing number.
The more numbers you enter on a tax form, the more chances you have to enter them incorrectly. And a wrong account or routing number could cause you to lose your refund entirely.
You can divide your refund deposit into three accounts by filing Form 8888 along with your individual return. It's not a difficult document to complete, but if you put in wrong account numbers, your refund could end up in someone else's account or be sent back to the IRS.
Incorrect account numbers aren't just a problem when a refund is split multiple ways. Even if your refund is going to just one account, make very sure you enter that account and bank routing numbers correctly.
7. Overlooking additional income: Did you have a side job this year? If so, as a contractor you probably received a Form 1099-MISC detailing the extra earnings.
What about savings and investment accounts? For these, you should have received Form 1099-INT and Form 1099 DIV statements.
In these 1099 situations, the IRS knows precisely how much extra money, either as wages or unearned investment income, you made because it got copies of those forms, too.
If you forget to include any of these earnings on your return, IRS examiners will let you know you that it knows and that you owe taxes on that money, too. And depending on when your oversight is discovered, you also could owe penalties and interest on the unreported earnings.
8. Missing charitable contributions: You were very generous last year and you're taking tax advantage of your philanthropic nature this filing season. Good for you in both cases. But make sure you don't overlook any charitable donations.
All types of donations, from cash to cars, could be valuable tax deductions, so make sure you count them all when you file.
In addition to these cash and property donations, you also may deduct mileage, parking fees, postage and long-distance phone calls made while performing charitable work.
9. Not signing your tax return: A tax return that's unsigned gets the same treatment as ones missing Social Security numbers. A return lacking a signature — or signatures: when married couples file a joint return, both spouses must sign the 1040 — isn't valid and the IRS won't process it.
The easiest way to avoid this oversight is to file electronically and digitally sign it before sending it to the IRS. Your tax software, either the package you bought or the one you're using on Free File, will walk you through the e-signature process.
If, however, you're still mailing your return, don't be in such a hurry to be done with the job that you stuff your 1040 in the envelope sans signature.
10. Making credit or deduction mistakes: Here's a non-news flash. The tax code is complicated (and will stay that way despite the tweaks to the Internal Revenue Code made by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act). That means there are lots of opportunities to make mistakes as you look for tax-saving credits and deductions.
Errors are frequently made by folks claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and additional child tax credit. That's part of the reason the IRS now must hold refunds related to these tax breaks until mid-February.
But the IRS also sees each year errors by filers figuring their child and dependent care credit and even in selecting their standard deduction amount. For example, a taxpayer who’s 65 or older and/or blind, can claim a larger standard deduction.
Follow the tax filing instructions carefully, either those in IRS publications and forms or as part of your tax software. The IRS' online Interactive Tax Assistant also can help you determine if you're eligible for certain tax credits or deductions.
11. Math miscalculations: The IRS is all about the numbers. So it's no surprise that the most common error on tax returns, year after year, is bad math.
Arithmetic errors range from simple addition and subtraction to more complex tax items, like those credits and deductions just mentioned in mistake #10. Figuring things like the EITC or the taxable portion of a retirement account distribution, for example, is more difficult and results in more math errors.
In processing 2016 tax returns, the IRS caught more than 2.5 million math errors, according to the agency's 2017 Data Book. Considering that most of us use tax software, in large part because it does the math for us, that's astounding.

Of course, the adage garbage in/garbage out applies here. The wrong number on one form's line produces a wrong calculation that gets transferred to another form, exponentially compounding the math error.
So pay close attention when you enter your numerical data into your tax return.
12. Missing the deadline: Finally, don't make the biggest tax season mistake of all, missing the filing deadline.
Millions of taxpayers put off filing until the very last minute. That's OK as long as your mailed paper return is postmarked by the April filing deadline or you hit "enter" to e-file your 1040 by midnight of the deadline day.
The good news for 2017 taxes is that the April 15 due date is pushed to April 17 because of the weekend and the federal Emancipation Day holiday in Washington, D.C. But if even with a couple of extra days you still just can't finish your forms by the deadline, get an extension.
Filing Form 4868 will give you six more months, until Oct. 15, to get all your forms filled out and into the IRS. You can do so by either mailing a paper form or electronically, again by next Tuesday's due date.
Just remember that an extension to file applies only to the forms. You still must send by April 17 any tax you owe with your extension request. If you don't, you could face late-filing or non-filing penalties.
Nobody wants to pay Uncle Sam a penny more than necessary, so don't make the mistake of missing the filing deadline.
OK. That's my, to borrow an IRS term, Dirty Dozen tax filing errors. Don't make them this year. And if you have others on your own tax errors list, please share them in the comments below.

You also must have the Social Security number of the person (see #2), either a child or qualifying relative, you're listing as a dependent on your 1040 or 1040A.
