None of you people know how to be normal about pregnant folks it's kind of fucked up how they face vitriol and dehumanizing comments from both right and leftist spaces as a demographic that is at greater risk of experiencing physical violence. kind of horrifying!

for all that I love Ghosts, I've been getting a very different kind of joy out of watching uploads of a very, very similar show on youtube - The Ghosts of Motley Hall.
Like, a setup where the ghosts actually mostly like each other from the off, so that a huge chunk of the dialogue just goes towards establishing more and more of their meandering, idiosyncratic shared history (especially because the budget was clearly about £1.50 so they have to establish most things through dialogue)... that has its own kind of charm.

it's honestly wild that so many aspects of your personality can be conveyed online and yet so many are not
y'all don't even know how much brainpower I devote to thinking about Secretariat and how he's probably the only athlete (including people) who's executed a perfect event (the 1973 Belmont) that may actually never be beaten especially with the absolute disaster that is horse racing and Thoroughbred breeding today (not that either was ever perfect or without extreme abuse) and how Sham actually holds the second fastest Kentucky Derby time ever, which means that Sham would actually beat any of the Derby winners before or since EXCEPT FOR SECRETARIAT

Another bonus poll idea I've had is "What I assumed would be the final when starting this, but then SonKnux got more submissions than both of them and Aroace Sonic swept the whole tournament"
Which would be: Sonadow vs SonAmy

i think if they just left lunging and dressage as special once-a-year limited time event activities i'd be really, really sad.

you know that chart of how to be a critical reader and one of the things to consider is "who does this benefit"?

the way anti-malina ppl are misinterpreting the Big Thing between Mal and Alina is. very aggravating.
bc here's the thing. *it's meant to be a contrast to how the Darkling shows his love for Alina.* he wants to possess her entirely, consume her, control her. he will not let her go even when she's told him repeatedly that she will never side with him.
but Mal? yes, Alina loves him, and it's because she's different from the Darkling that *she lets him go*.
and this time it's her choice. she's not pressured into it by her circumstances. it's not a repeat of the Fold or a redundant writing choice. she sees that he needs to find something because a huge part of him has been literally taken out, used, and erased.
it's just highly irritating that anti-malina ppl have taken this as "proof" that Mal doesn't deserve Alina or wev, when imo that's very much the opposite of what Bardugo clearly intended with Alina and Mal's choices.

i have some thoughts i can't put into words well but the more one decides that like [assorted relatively minor things, interests, reactions] are evils the lines of which cannot be crossed, and the more specific the thoughts and opinions that need to all every single one be in alignment for one to like or just tolerate someone else, the more isolating one's experience is, and lonely, and dimmed, because more and more peope out of everybody else seem threatening, stupid, malicious, or just unworthy of one's respect or any real connection. which is a shame from a lot of standpoints. and i think it's quite easy in a sterile online space to critique things, which isn't bad in and of itself and is sometimes urgent and useful, but can quickly move to 100% condemnation and "cringing" in small social circles over just about anything whatsoever. and sometimes my roommate is like hozier has such fae vibes and it's like fine actually. it's literally totally fine and it isn't that deep at all and there's no harm meant by it.

I can see why they weren't able to get this article published through like vulture or whatever bc it's kind of poorly written in a couple places so far. also, a lot of this stuff is just, how the publishing industry & other creative industries work--ie they rarely pay well, and if you decide to take the money from a major company rather than paying out of pocket for production/formatting & advertising, the company takes a hefty portion of your revenue in return. There's room for criticism of the basic way we treat creators in our society but this is hardly specific to rusty quill
