Chuuya
Tumblr media
The penthouse was quiet aside from the soft sporadic sniffling that came from the bedroom. Chuuya shut the front door quietly and tip toed to the door that was left cracked.
Textbooks and multiple note papers were scattered around you on the bed, your face was in your hands as the sobs slowly changed to hiccups. He watched through the crack as you grabbed a tissue from the nightstand and dabbed away the tears that flung to your cheeks. Your eyes had big dark circles from long nights of no sleep and constant studying. Your makeup that you had applied earlier was smudged and your mascara left trails from your eyelashes down to your chin.
He was about to walk into the room, to try to comfort you, hold you, help you in any way he could, but he watched you take a deep breath, putting in your earphones and going back to work.
He wouldn’t bother you while you were studying, he knew you would just get more stressed if he were to sidetrack you. So he decided to just sit on the couch and wait for you to come out to him.
He waited for a bit, and by a bit he waited about thirty minutes. He didn’t like when you worked too hard, it worried him. He was worried about your health, you stressed over school too much, and it didn’t make sense to him. He had told you that you didn’t need to go to school, that he would support you. He made more money than he knew what to do with, and he’d rather take you on lavish vacations and expensive romantic dates, but he couldn’t because your school schedule had you an absolute wreck, and it was only getting worse.
He walked into the bedroom and sat on the edge of the bed, and you gave him a weak half smile before turning back to your papers. Your eyes weren’t just circled in black, they were bloodshot. You were running on energy drinks and coffees, staying up for days without a wink of sleep just to cram for tests. But even still, he had never seen you like this, not even during your finals last semester. There was more going on, and he was going to get to the bottom of it.
“Hey, you’ve been working for a while, how about taking a break?” He offered, and you shook your head, burying your face deeper into the textbook. “Come on. I feel like I don’t even see you anymore.”
“Maybe that’s a good thing.” You mumbled, and he was shocked for a second, his mouth hung open as his brain tried to register and reason what you had said.
“Y/N, come on. Talk to me please.” He pulled the book from your hands. You were squeezing your eyes shut, trying to fight the tears away. It hurt him seeing you like this, but it killed him not knowing what was causing your pain.
“It’s not important. Just school things.”
“What kind of school things. Tell me.”
“No, cause then you’ll try to make it your own problem, and we both know you’re too busy for that.”
“Hey, I’m never too busy for you, you know that. Now tell me what’s wrong.” He situated himself on the bed so he was sitting across from you, his legs crossed as he stared at you. You looked around the room, trying to look at anything but him, but he knew you couldn’t keep your eyes away for that long.
“You know how sometimes you visit me on campus, and you bring me lunch, or sometimes just to make sure I’m okay?” He knew. It was his favorite thing to do. He would sneak up on you and wrap his arms around you from behind. Even if he only got to see that smile of yours for fifteen minutes tops while he was on break, it always brightened his day, and he hoped it helped brighten yours. “Do you think I’m pretty?” He didn’t understand where this was going, but he quickly nodded.
“Of course I do. You’re beautiful, inside and out. Where is this coming from?”
“There’s these girls, and they just....” you sighed, and he waited patiently for you to continue. “They see you with me, and now... they tell me that I’m too ugly to be with you, and that you’ll end up leaving me. That I’m not good enough, and that if they were you they would be embarrassed to be seen with me. I know it’s stupid, but....”
“That’s not stupid at all. I would be pissed if someone said that to me at work.” He grabbed your hands and pulled you to him, sitting you on his lap with your legs around him. “Those girls are jealous though. They’re jealous of your beauty, and they’re jealous that you have the greatest boyfriend in the world. I’d never leave you, so that’s just stupid. Lastly, they’re not me, and if they did know me, which they never will, they’d know that I would never be embarrassed to be seen with a gorgeous woman such as yourself.”
“I guess I shouldn’t have been upset about it.” You whispered and he lifted your chin with finger, looking down into your slightly glazed eyes.
“You can be upset, I just want you to know that everything they say will never be true.” He brushed away a tear that lingered on your cheek and planted a soft kiss on your forehead.
He ended up dropping by campus more often now. You didn’t have to point out the girls that were messing with you, he could tell by the way they sneered and grimaced when the two of you would walk by them. He made sure to kiss you and proclaim his love for you very loudly when they were around.
He couldn’t physically fight them for hurting you, but he could prove them wrong, and god, did he love doing it.
Dazai

He always met you at the cafe on the ground level of the agency building, he would wait for you there so the two of you could walk home together.
The second hand of the clock on the wall filled the silence as he waited for the jingle of the bell above the door. It would mean you were there, and he could finally wrap his arms around you again. Sure, you were only at school for about six hours, and he hugged and kissed you every day before you left, but six hours was way too long for him.
His toe tapped away the seconds, his eyes shifting between the clock and the door. He was about to get up and go out to find you when you burst through the door.
“Thank goodness you’re here! I’ve missed you so much!” He went over to where you stood, a wide smile on his face, one that fell as soon as he saw the tears in your eyes. “What’s wrong?”
You quickly wiped your eyes and sniffled, giving him a forced chuckle as you walked to the booth where you always sat. “I was running here, the wind must have caused my eyes to water.” You lied, giving him a smile that he could see right through.
“Oh, okay. How was school today?” He asked, drumming his fingers against the table, his head resting against an open palm as he stared at you. He knew something was wrong, and he knew you were hiding it from him. He wouldn’t flat out ask you, he would let you talk until you slipped, then he would build on that.
“Same old same old. Let’s talk about you, how was your day?” He knew deflection was the first thing you did when there was something wrong. So he shrugged.
“Same old same old. Now, back to you.” He smiled, already knowing he would get the answer out of you anyway, but sometimes the back and forth game was fun too.
“I don’t know what you want to know about. It’s what I do everyday.” Defensiveness was the second thing, it made you almost seem like you were doing something awful by the way you outright refused to talk. He knew better though, so he kept pushing.
“You always ask about my day, even though it’s the same every day. I always answer too.” Finally, you sighed in defeat. He wasn’t going to let up, and he honestly didn’t understand why you kept trying to hide things considering the two of you have been through this thousands of times before. He always figured it out in the end, so he didn’t know why he had to go through the unnecessary steps in between.
“That’s because your day is exciting and you have people here that like you and you’re not getting harassed every day by your exes friends and you’re not getting cornered in bathrooms and your day isn’t a living hell.” You were out of breath by the time you finished. You dropped your head into your arms on the table, and he was actually speechless. He couldn’t seem to find the words to say to comfort you, but on the inside his blood was boiling, he was seething.
“Why didn’t you ever tell me?” He whispered, and when you looked up you were crying again.
“I don’t want to burden you with my problems. You work so much, and you’re so busy and I don’t want to add more onto your plate because I know you’ll try to handle it yourself.” You were right about him trying to handle it, but he also couldn’t just not do anything about it. Just hearing about some assholes cornering you, especially in the bathroom, it made him want to throw up and murder these guys. He didn’t even want to hear what else they did because it would be a blood bath and he would enjoy every second of it.
“Talking to me about it isn’t burdening me with your problems. No matter how much I work, I don’t want you to keep things from me, especially these kinds of things. Y/N, I’m like kind of a cop. I can do both my duty as a boyfriend, and also my duty as a civil servant.” He saluted you, his smile so wide it was making his eyes squint.
“That’ll be embarrassing.”
“I can walk with you, I’ll make sure you get to class and everything. We can hold hands.” The idea was a joke at first, but when he saw your face finally light up a little, a tiny spark in your eye, he knew it was what had to be done. “That’ll make you feel better?”
“You don’t have to, you have work and stuff.” The light in your eyes dimmed.
“Like I said, I’m kind of a cop. I’m a detective, I’ll be going under cover, and I’ll get to be with you all day. It’ll be awesome, it’ll be my first day of college. I wonder if there’ll be any parties-“
“Shut up ya goof.” You reached across the table to smack his arm but he caught your hand before it reached him.
He traced the lines on your palm, his eyes were glued to his finger as it moved across your skin. “Don’t hide stuff from me anymore. It really hurts me that you’d think I was too busy to hear about what you’re going through. I want to be here for you, but you need to help me out. No more secrets. Okay?”
You nodded slowly, and he finally let go of your hand, but not before pressing his lips to the back of your hand. “Alright, lets go home. We both have school tomorrow.”
Mori

He wasn’t one to show sympathy towards anyone, even you rarely experienced it. That was only one of the reasons you didn’t tell him about what you were going through at school. He was also a busy man, being the president of the port mafia kept him from you most of the week, even the weekends when tensions between the agencies were high. When he was home long enough to see you he was in bed and practically comatose in a matter of minutes.
He allowed you to use his office for studying, you liked the seclusion, and you knew that no one would ever just barge in to distract you from your work. Mori was used to walking into his office and seeing your head bowed down at his desk, one hand scrawling on a sheet of paper while the other hand flipped through pages in a textbook. That’s why he felt a pang of worry when he opened the large door and didn’t see you sitting in his big chair behind the large wooden table.
His eyes darted around the room, and he finally spotted you, sitting in his arm chair next to the window that overlooked Yokohama. Your legs were folded up against your chest, and your forehead was resting on your knees. Your body was shaking as you took shuddering breaths.
He didn’t want to make you feel uncomfortable, so he closed the door on himself, standing on the outside of the door and counting to ten, then knocking.
“C-come in!” Your voice cracked when you called out to him, and when he walked in you were sitting up straight, rubbing your eyes, but smiling up to him.
“How is your studying going?” He sat in the chair across from you, reading through your false expression of happiness.
“It’s exhausting. I was taking a nap before you came in.” The lie wouldn’t have been so obvious if he hadn’t have walked in on you crying. He didn’t want to call you out on it, if it was something that was really bothering you, he wanted you to trust him enough to tell him yourself.
“Did I wake you?”
“It’s fine, I needed to wake up anyway. I’ve got to get home and finish my work.” He hummed to himself as he watched you walk over to the desk and begin packing up your books.
“Will you be alright?” His hands were folded under his chin, his violet eyes were glued to you as he waited for your answer.
“Of course. Why would I not be?” You didn’t look at him, your voice cracked again and you dropped the book that you were putting into your bag.
“Hmm, you seem a little... nervous.”
“I’m not nervous. I’m just sleepy.” You smiled again, and he shrugged.
“Alright, well, be careful on your way home.”
“You won’t be able to take me home?” Your voice dropped, and you looked so small, so fragile. Your hands were folded in front of you, the backpack was overloaded with large books causing you to hunch over slightly.
“The city is safe, you know that I have many people out there. There’s nothing to worry about.” He was so calm, his fingers tapped together as a small grin pulled at the corner of his lips.
“Yeah but...” and here it is, the explanation that he knew would come out. His eyes were fixated on your face as you walked back over to the arm chair and dropped down into the seat. “There’s these people at school... it was finals and they wanted to cheat off my paper.”
“Of course they would, you are quite smart.”
“Thank you, but, I didn’t want to get in trouble. I’d lose my scholarship if I got caught giving them answers. They kept messing with me, trying to grab my paper and peak over my shoulder and I finally told them to stop. The professor heard and when he asked what was wrong, I was just really annoyed, so I told him what was going on.”
“Mmhm, and they got in trouble?”
“Yeah, they got in a lot of trouble Mori. Now they’re mad, they’re really really mad, they’re pissed. They said that I should watch my back...” your thumbs were rolling around rapidly, you were biting your lip so hard that you started to taste the iron from your blood on your tongue.
“They.... threatened you?” His voice was as low as yours, except his wasn’t tinged with fear. It wasn’t even a hint of anger, no, you could almost see it. His eyes seemed to burn brighter, like there was a fire burning behind his bright purple irises.
He got up out of his chair with lightning speed, wrapping his arms so tight around your torso that you could barely breathe.
“No more school.” He hissed into your ear, and although you wanted to fight his words, it would have been no use.
He would find any way to keep you from going back, he was manipulative, even with you. When it came to your well being he used any tactic he could, he wouldn’t let you just go back when there were people out there that wanted to hurt you. It would make him feel incredibly dumb if any harm were to come your way, especially after you told him about it.
It was better to just let him have his way, it would make him happy, and in the end you would be happier too.
“You don’t need some silly degree to make me proud, doll. Just let me take care of you.”
Hope you enjoyed!! Sorry it took a little longer than expected, work been expecting too much, I’ve been swamped. But I was thinking about how I’d write it the whole time I was working.
