I had this set up after seeing how Satoru wears frigfing 250,000 yen shirts- wtf?
synopsis : Gojo Satoru. Someone who is filthy rich with a partner that bargains and demands discounts on every thing. (The inner Asian mom is showing itself.)
additonally: a birthday surprise in the end where yuuji accidentally pops a party popper on satoru's face + lovesick satoru.
a/n : happy late birthday to our favourite sweet consuming demon and dimples guy. ♡
Tumblr media
The tension in the room was palpatating.
Satoru watched as you had a stare off with the receptionist at the restaurant he had picked for you two's date.
"Hm...so you are telling me that for a table of two, you guys take ¥ 60,000 per person?" You stared at the guy who assigned seats to the visitors, arms crossed, eyes narrowed.
"Yes ma'am, that's right." The man politely nodded despite your rather hostile attitude.
"But you say that kids under 5 eat for free?" You mused, tone softening a bit.
"Yes, that is correct." The receptionist nodded at you with a kind smile.
Silence.
"So you see Satoru right here is actually just 4 years old-" you started.
"Yes, I am- wait what!?" Satoru did a double take and stared at you with his jaw dropped.
Yeah, that's how his life was. Full of life, comedy and fundamentals of bargaining as you would rightfully call it. The number of incidents of you arguing with anyone and everyone for a discount never failed to entertain him.
For example : –
Satoru watched you in awe as you talk- no, argued with a fruit seller over the ridiculous prices.
"I can't believe this! ¥7500 (50 USD) for a single watermelon? What, is this watermelon made of gold or something?" You baffled at the price. That was seriously ridiculous.
"Miss, these are the best of their kind! They won't disappoint." The vendor defended, trying to list out the pros of the fruit.
"Sweets, you should just get it. ¥7500 is nothi-" Satoru was cut off by your stern look.
"Nothing!? That price is just unreasonable! I will not pay anymore than ¥6000." You huffed, crossing your arms in disapproval.
"Haha- miss if I started seeling things for THAT low, I will end up going bankrupt.. how about ¥7200?" The vendor nervously chuckled, not wanting to make you more angry. He also glanced at Satoru, hoping he would save him.
Satoru simply sighed. Messing with you right now would earn him a one way ticket to heaven.
"¥6800 and not a single more."
"...fine." the vendor grumbled, handing the fruit over to you.
You smiled triumphantly and took the watermelon before merrily walking off. Satoru stared at you with an amused expression while trailing you.
Truth be told, Satoru didn't care about bargaining. If he saw something he wanted, he could buy without sparing a glance on the price tag.
However seeing you bargain your way through life was the most amusing thing to him. He had both his heart and his credit card surrendered to you, yet you were adamant on not spending any more than necessary.
He still remembers the day you came home with a beaming smile on your face.
Tumblr media
"Satoru guess what!" You chimed, seemingly proud at what you had done.
"What is it sweets?" He looked up from whatever he was doing.
"I got so many clothes for such good price. Hehe those discount vouchers are a gift of God, I tell you!" You grinned and he just laughed.
"Seriously? How much did you save this time?" He chuckled, curious as to how much you saved.
"Well, the salesman was about to tell me the exorbitant price but I whipped out the discount vouchers and got 40% off." You smugly smiled, probably impressed with your own self.
Tumblr media
However, when it came to matters such as his birthday...
"Woah, what is this?" Satoru marveled at the sight of the decorations. Everyone was here. Nanami, Shoko, Yaga, the first and second years and you.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" All of you yelled in unison. Yuuji however, was struggling to open up the confetti popper and ended up shaking it so hard that it popped right on Satoru's face.
The man of the hour had confetti, both in his mouth and all over his face. Everyone laughed and some even snagged some pictures.
Satoru stood still for a second before his palm reached up to remove his blindfold which surprise surprise! Also got confetti stuck in it.
"Thanks- Yuuji." He said, blowing confetti out of his mouth, before smiling and chuckling at Yuuji.
Everyone later indulged in talking, eating and hanging out. The atmosphere was uplifting and heart swelling to see all your close ones enjoying themselves.
"So, how much discount did you get yourself on all this preparation?" You heard Satoru ask you. He was smiling brightly, so much so that his blue hues had smile line creases from his bright smile. You could even see his dimples.
Man, God was playing favourites while creating Satoru, that's for sure. Who knew the strongest sorcerer was deep inside just a gentle soul that needed love like everyone else?
"None." You smiled back at him
"Why so?" He asked, awaiting an answer.
"It's your birthday, silly. Price doesn't matter, you do." You booped his nose with you finger. You could see his ears turn red.
Satoru hated you. He hated how you would say such endearing this that would makes a puddle of mess from blushing. Just kidding, he loved you, with all his heart.
"Still..I could've saved so much money." You whined, earning a chuckle from him.
Nevermind. You never changed. He wasn't complaining though.
Tumblr media
gosh- me including so many people are in love with this guy. I wanna hold him in my palms.
Tumblr media
happy birthday satoru. You are so skrunkly

I was wondering if you could write a jj x female reader where he’s dating kiara but then he meets the reader and starts to fall in love with her so he doesn’t know what to do.
omg yes i love this so much. and thank you for sending in a request at all! i’m honoured that you chose me :))
this is my first jj fic too and i’m instantly obsessed like hello??
anywaysss please enjoy!
hard to carry
Tumblr media
pairing: jj x kook!reader
wc: 1.3k
Tumblr media
JJ never believed in love at first sight. Why would he when it had taken years for him and his girlfriend to finally get together? He had loved her- desperately, and had felt like after years of flirting hopelessly he finally got his shot with Kie and he was head over heels. He was happy. But it wasn’t everything he had dreamed of. They fought nearly constantly these days, and her parents had never gotten over the bitter taste in their mouths they had over him even after they found El Dorado and he could give their daughter the life he assumed they wanted for her. It was draining, but he assumed it was all so worth it.
Your parents had just bought a summer home on Kildare island, and you instantly fell in love with the city. The endless beaches, the expansive golf course and with everyone you’ve met so far this summer. You already looked forward to spending every June, July, and August here for the foreseeable future, and have already considered moving into the house full time to watch it while your parents are back in New York living up the Wallstreet life for the remainder of the year. At eighteen, you’re praying they’ll give you the chance.
In an attempt to prove your independence, you’re spending the day alone, running errands for your mom and dad, visiting some local shops and taking the time to get to know everything better. That’s when JJ first lays his eyes on you.
He’s walking around the busy grocery store with a clunky basket, readjusting his grip over and over again because he’d be caught dead before grabbing a cart when he’s shopping alone. You saw no shame in that, however, resting your hip against the side of the half full cart of groceries while you glance between the list in your hands and the table of produce in front of you.
JJ’s eyes fall on your figure as he’s about to reach for a bag of apples, immediately finding himself doing a double take. The way your hair falls over part of your face as he watches you try to pick out the freshest looking watermelon has his breath hitching in his throat, and he instantly abandons his attempt at fitting the bag of apples into his already almost filled basket, deciding a watermelon looks more refreshing in the North Carolina heat anyways.
“Hey- that’s the one I was gunning for.” JJ finds himself saying, pointing to the watermelon in your hands as you turn to place it in the cart.
“Oh! Gosh, sorry. Here.” You say sheepishly, holding the fruit out to him immediately and JJ feels his heart melt.
“Nah, you can keep it. I was just joking.” JJ chuckles, placing his basket on the floor. “It does look the best though, you’ve got a sharp eye.
“Thanks.” You laugh, resigning to putting the watermelon down in your cart instead. “I think you should take that one, that one is second best.” You joke, pointing to a different one on the table.
JJ nods, pretending to consider it. “Yeah, yeah you’re probably right.” He nods, picking it up and inspecting it. “Are you new in town?” He asks, attempting to be casual about it, but he’s genuinely curious since he knows if he’d ever seen you before, he absolutely would have remembered it.
“Uh, yeah! My parents just bought a house here. Down on the other side of the island.” You explain, your cheeks flushing as you pretend to read over your list again.
“Oh, you’re a kook?” JJ replies, making you quirk an eyebrow at him.
“Excuse me?”
Now it was JJ’s turn to blush, his face immediately turning a bright red as he looked at you with wide eyes, long forgetting his ploy at examining the watermelon in his hands. “I- yeah I guess you wouldn’t know what that means. Sorry, just, people who live over there have that nickname. Just means you live on the north side, that’s all.”
Your face relaxes and you giggle. JJ has never heard a laugh so lovely, so sweet that he thinks it could make his jaw hurt if he dwelled on it for too long. “Oh! Okay, neat. I didn’t know that.” You shake your head at your own misunderstanding.
“Yeah, I guess that’s just local slang, kinda.” JJ shrugs, returning your smile and leaning back against the counter, putting the fruit down again. “I’m JJ, by the way. I’m definitely not a kook.”
“Oh, what do they call you then? Assuming you wouldn’t call me a ‘kook’ if you were one yourself.” You ask, tilting your head in his direction.
“Pogues. Pogies, sometimes.” JJ laughs as he explains it, suddenly understanding how silly it must sound to someone who didn’t grow up here.
“Interesting.” You nod a little. “Well, JJ the ‘pogue’, I’m Y/N.”
“Not exactly how you use that, but it’s nice to meet you, Y/N.” JJ grins, leaning back on his palms as they press onto the table.
“Sorry.” You laugh awkwardly again, and JJ can’t help it when his stomach flips once more at the sound. He glances down at his still present basket, remembering suddenly who gave him the list of what to buy, and who he was bringing everything home to so they could make pasta together for dinner. Shit.
“You’re all good.” He laughs it off with you, smile fading with the sudden pang of guilt that followed the dread of returning home to Kie. Who he loved. Loves, still, surely.
“Well, I’ve got frozen stuff here, so I better keep moving…” You trail off, looking into the cart you’ve gathered of almost everything on the list. “I probably should have grabbed those last but I wasn’t really thinking I guess.” You ramble on, stepping around the cart and past JJ to push it away.
“I did the same thing, I get it.” JJ admits, reaching down to pick up his basket.
“Hey, uh, I don’t have any friends down here. Mind if I grab your instagram or something?” You ask, suddenly feeling brave as you stop the cart and turn to face the blonde boy that you admittedly find very attractive. Besides, having friends here will definitely implore your parents to let you stay.
“Yeah! Yeah, here.” JJ nods, digging into the pocket of his cargo shorts and pulling out his phone to open the rarely used app, handing it over to you.
“Yikes, an android? I don’t know if I can be seen with you.” You joke as you take the device, quickly typing in your own username and hitting the follow button, passing it back to him as he laughs.
“Gee, thanks.” JJ chuckles, shaking his head and looking down at the account still left open.
“Maybe I’ll see you around, JJ the pogue.” You tease, giving a quick wave as you make your way towards the front of the store.
“Still not how you say that!” He calls after you, seeing you shrug your shoulders without looking back.
As you turn the corner, JJ let’s out a breath he didn’t know he was holding, once more adjusting the grip his now sweaty palms had on the handles of the basket. The basket full of groceries for Kie, that suddenly feels much harder to carry. Fuck, he doesn’t want to go home to her anymore. And fuck, he can’t wait to scroll through your instagram and endlessly hope that he’ll see you again.

The star trek food cubes are haunting me again. I want to put them in my mouth.
So here are the theories on how to make them.
Tumblr media
[ID] Screencap from The Conscience Of The King shows Lt. Riley uncovering a plate of food cubes [end ID]
Tofu, diced.
Marinate in liquid(s) of choice (e.g, lemon juice). Cover with cornstarch. Add red, green or yellow food colouring to blocks as required. Roast and serve.
Suggestion: marinate the cubes in different flavours to correspond to their colours.
Prototype recipe
Melon, diced.
This one is low effort: Red cubes= watermelon, other cubes= melon. Allegedly, the original on-set props *were* dyed melon (but I don't have a solid source), so this may be the best fit.
Royal icing/icing sugar.
This one is just candy: make 3 batches of royal icing, one red, one yellow, one green, dice when half-set and leave to fully set.
Cake, fondant.
Possible, if we assume Lt. Riley was drinking milk in that scene from The Conscience Of The King (Pictured above). This one is also easy to make, assuming you don't object to fondant.
Jelly, cubed.
(Jell-O). Dishonourable mention; this one is too see-through for my liking.
Tumblr media
[ID] Screencap from Where No Man shows Kirk eating a green food cube, which looks blue here. [End ID]
Potatoes, Diced.
Roast Potatoes, Diced
This idea comes from CoolPete.com, and my first thought was "please don't put food colouring on the potatoes".
Cool Pete provided a photo of the finished results, and the natural colour of the potato offsets most of the food colouring to make them all look greener than intended. The red food colouring comes out the best. I suppose colour theory dictates that you should use blue food colouring on the potatoes in order to get green cubes, but don't quote me on that.
With this in mind, I'm going to tentatively suggest a horrible idea:
Roast Sweet Potatoes (Yams), Diced
In theory, the redness of the yams might allow the Yellow Food Dye to look more yellow, and make the red more vibrant. There's a greater chance that you will be able to use the green food colouring without it looking blue here, but use at your own caution, because the finished product may look oversaturated. Perfectly edible, but potentially unappetizing (the first bite is with the eye).
Closing Comments:
For uniformity of texture, tofu or melon seems to be the best way to go. If we are to believe that the "food cubes" in-universe are supposed to be fruit (according to that same trekbbs thread, they're placed in glasses in Journey To Babel), then watermelon and cantaloupe are begging for our attention, but we must ignore them, for melon alone does not a meal make!
Tumblr media
“I wonder if they were actually supposed to be some kind of fruit in-universe, too? IIRC, in "Journey to Babel" the copper aliens put them in their drinks, which seems a strange thing to do if they were supposed to be the 23rd century equivalent of tofu cubes or something.”
-Avro Arrow
This isn't the end, merely the beginning. I will test out a couple of variations of these meals and report back on which one I think is best.
My current hypothesis is that the tofu will allow for the most variation, as you can marinate it in naturally-colourful liquids of various colours. If it's colourful enough you could forgo the food colouring altogether, or marinate it in something colourless (like salted water) and then add seasonings and food colouring if you wish.
I intend to start by using tofu with diced potatoes as a side, though if I test out too many cube-shaped meals at once, my household will get suspicious, so I need to space this out over the course of a few months. I'm going to use the tag #Food Cube Trek, so filter it if that's not something you'd like to see.

OC INTERVIEW!! >:)
Thanks for tagging me @cyberholic77! This is the first cyberpunk community thing I have been tagged in and it means a lot 🥹
I'm going to use the V that I am bringing into my friend's Fallout D&D campaign because he has been on the mind a lot, and I think he is my silliest V! The general idea for him is he is still a person who lives and grew up in the Fallout universe, but his personality and interests and stuff like that are a clear homage to V from Cyberpunk 2077.
NAME?
"...V. It's just V."
His full name is Vault Copperhand. The last name is just a family thing, he doesn't have a copper hand. (yet?!?!) He was named Vault by his parents before the war even was a thing, but he isn't really sure why they did that.
_____
NICKNAME?
"Please just call me V, okay?"
His life goal is that no one finds out about his dumbass name. 😭
_____
GENDER?
"Transgender man."
_____
STAR SIGN?
"I'm a... Gemini, yes a Gemini. My birthday is June 10th. My late wife would read me the horoscopes in the paper before the war. Not sure I believe them, but it was a nice time."
He says he doesn't really believe them, but if the paper said he was going to have a troublesome day, he would be much more wary than usual.
_____
HEIGHT?
"5'6 at least the last time I checked?"
1.68m for non-Americans ;) he's a bit shorter lol.
_____
ORIENTATION?
"I think the word is bisexual? Gender isn't a big thing for me, life's too short to worry about what's in a person's pants."
He had a wife, but post coming out of his vault, he has had a series of flings. He is a bit of a slut <3
_____
FAVORITE FRUIT?
"Oh man. I haven't had a good slice of watermelon since before the vault. I should see if there is any way I can find some."
He's had some yucca and cactus fruit since coming out of his vault, but he loves the sweet flavor of watermelon.
_____
FAVORITE SEASON?
"Fall is the best. Not too cold, not too hot. "
He loves weather that lets him wear his favorite jackets without freezing.
_____
FAVORITE FLOWER?
"I like the smell of daffodils when I can find them."
_____
FAVORITE SCENT?
"Freshly washed linen. Nothing beats that soft feeling of clean fabric on skin."
_____
COFFEE OR TEA?
"Black coffee is good."
_____
AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP?
"Sleep is for the weak. I only need a few hours to keep going."
He lives a pretty nomadic lifestyle. If he can set up his hammock, he is good to go.
_____
DOG OR CAT PERSON?
"Cats, they just feel like a calm presence in the wild world."
_____
DREAM TRIP?
"Always wanted to see some other cities. New York or something like that."
He loves the open road, but cities always draw him in.
_____
FAVORITE FICTIONAL CHARACTER?
"I like the tin man in the Wizard of Oz is cool I guess? I don't really watch movies."
He's not much of a movie guy, he has too much energy to sit still for very long. He'd rather be working on something with his hands.
_____
NUMBER OF BLANKETS YOU SLEEP WITH?
"You only ever need one good blanket when it's made right."
_____
RANDOM FACT?
The vault V is from is in Vegas. The experiment was that everyone's consciousness was uploaded to a computer for hundreds of years. I chose this because it's like mikoshi >:)
_____
I'm tagging: @ashesfordayz @elvenbeard @mail-me-a-snail @swearingcactus @glitchinginthegarden
Of course there is no need to do this if you don't want to! Thank you again @cyberholic77 for tagging me!

survey #201
Do you like meatball subs? I really don't, they just make the bread soggy, which I cannot tolerate texturally.
What is your favorite smell on earth? Fresh baked goods. Cinnamon rolls are the best.
If you have a sib, do you call him/her “brother” or “sister” sometimes? I call Ashley "big sis" quite a bit, and sometimes "little sis" for Nicole.
Did you ever collect stickers? I did in my childhood for a very long time! My original dresser ended up completely covered in stickers because that's where I kept my collection of them.
Have you been baptized in any religious tradition? I was as a baby.
Do you love the smell of sunblock? I don't.
What was the last upsetting thing that happened to you? An asthma flare-up. Since my actual attack at the very end of January, I've now had FOUR more instances where my oxygen levels were on the very, very brink of "I need to go to the ER." One time I literally would've gone again if Mom hadn't told me not yet (she didn't want me waiting for hours because my oxygen wasn't low enough to be attended to immediately). I'm very stressed out about it; I'm not supposed to see a pulmonologist until June, but Mom and I are praying that there's a cancellation I can slide into.
What was the last thing you ordered from Starbucks? I've never gone there because I hate coffee. Oh wait, I have gotten a treat from there, but I can't recall what it was, this was years ago.
Do you trust your doctor? I trust my primary doctor and therapist. My current psychiatrist is an absolute fucking joke and after my last appointment, I refuse to go again. We're gonna try and set me up with a psychiatrist where my therapist is.
Do you ever question if your mother loves you? God no, I know me and my siblings are her world.
What is missing in your life? Fun. Adventure.
What is your favorite type of Lunchables? Nachos, zeeeeero competition.
What is the worst medication side effect you’ve ever had? As far as the most truly unenjoyable, vomiting. Scariest, bodily spasms and the constant state of feeling like I was on the very precipice of a seizure. What I'm assuming was probably the most dangerous, hypomania.
What is your favorite thing to order at Taco Bell? Fiesta potatoes.
What church do you go to? I don't go to church.
Do you take risks often? I really don't. I need to be more willing to. Not stupid ones of course, but sometimes risks are necessary for growth and success.
The last time you ate leftovers, what was it that you were eating? My mom made these sorta cheesecake bars to bring to Girt's the other day, because he was obsessed with them when Mom made them last, so his family got to try it and were also hooked, haha. I can't remember everything in it, but I know it included a sugar cookie base, chocolate chips (I think?), toffee bits, pecans (which you really couldn't taste, it was mostly a texture thing), and caramel.
What was the last flavor of ice cream you ate? Vanilla.
What is your favorite song at the moment? Probably "V.A.N." by Bad Omens and Poppy, at least for right now. It's not my favorite song ever, but it's newer so more enjoyable to listen to lately.
What is one thing you have too much of? fat lmao
What type of fruit do you eat the most? Apples.
Would you rather eat strawberries or watermelon? Strawberries. Watermelon is too watery to me, I don't enjoy it.
Do you prefer hamburgers or hot dogs? Burgers.
How far away do you live from the place where you were born? The hospital I was born at is barely five minutes away.
If you buried a time capsule, what would you put in it? Oh I have no idea.
Describe your clothing style in three words: Comfortable. Lazy. Dark.
What’s something you want to do more often? Be outside.
Who is your favorite YouTuber? Of all-time, Markiplier. I don't really have a favorite these days, just a few I enjoy a lot. Some of these are Game Grumps, Snake Discovery, NKFherping, John Wolfe, Shane Dawson, Woolie VS, and Gab Smolders.
Do you believe in soulmates? No.
What band or artist do you think is overrated? I just really don't care, let people enjoy the shit they like. Just because I don't enjoy an artist doesn't mean other people can't.
What’s something untrue that you believed for a long time? Uhhhh maybe that slit pupils on a snake always meant it was venomous. I've known that's incorrect for years, but I did think that was a universal rule when I was younger.
Did you skateboard when you were younger? No. I kinda passively wanted to, but was never too interested to actually learn.
Have you ever won a contest? A few, mostly related to writing ability.
What’s something weird you’ve eaten? An orange yogurt-flavored treat for guinea pigs lmao
Who is someone you would like to get to know better? An acquaintance from high school named Courtlyn. We're Facebook friends and interact sometimes, but I'd love to get to know her better.
When’s that last time you saw snow? It's been like two years. :/
Who are the 3 people you love the most? Mom, Girt, and then I'm not sure who would be #3. There's a collection of people that come to mind, not just a single one.
Last person you slept in the same bed with? Girt.
Have you recently been sick? No.
Would you marry someone if they were unable to have sex? Yeah.
Does heartbreak really feel as bad as it sounds? I think this would vary from person to person. For me, it was infinitely worse. I never would've anticipated the pain I went through.
Last reason you went to the ER? I had an asthma attack.
What facial cleanser do you use? I don't use one anymore.
Have you ever cheated on the significant other that you have now? I've never cheated on a significant other, period.
Do your parents like your boyfriend/girlfriend? They both love him and have loved him since we were teenagers.
What was the last fruit or vegetable you chopped/sliced up? An apple.
Does the last person whose house you were at like anyone? Me, I'm his girlfriend.
Do you tend to talk on the phone a lot? No, I literally hate talking on the phone. Primarily because over the phone, my auditory processing issues are worse, but also because I dislike not being able to see body language/expressions and it's just annoying to hold a phone and talk to someone and stop what I'm doing when you could just message me.
What turns you on the most? do not touch my boobies ok
Have you ever kissed someone of the same sex? Yes.
Have you ever suspected anyone of cheating on you? Not seriously. I can ponder the possibility of Jason having had something going on with the girl he dated after me with how quickly they got together (over Facebook, anyway), but I genuinely do doubt this. If anything, he was over it/open to someone else quick.
Ever get caught doing something naughty with your boyfriend/girlfriend? Yes and we never addressed it and I'm thrilled about that lmfao
Do you use q-tips to clean your ears? Only occasionally, and I'm very careful when I do because overuse/going too deep with them before caused wax to dry and adhere to both of my eardrums and I had to have it suctioned out by a specialty doctor. The doc was very serious about q-tips being an awful idea for internal cleaning, but I can't stand NEVER doing it.
Have you ever swam with dolphins? No, but I'd like to.
If you/your gf became pregnant accidentally, would you consider abortion? I would get an abortion. It'd be the better option for everyone involved; yes, including the potential baby.
What was the last candy you ate? Peach rings.
Do you like zombie movies? Indifferent.
What’s the grossest/worst thing you’ve ever seen in a public restroom? Blood completely covering the underside of the seat.
Have you ever volunteered in a hospital? If not, would you ever want to? No to both.
How do you feel about runny egg yolks? The concept of that going in my mouth makes me want to fucking hurl.
Have you ever hidden a relationship from your family? No.
Who was the worst friend you ever had? Colleen, when it boils down to it.
When was the last time you made plans with someone? What are you going to do with that person? A couple days ago, at least loosely. Girt and I are gonna hang out here this weekend. Dunno what day yet.
Are you close to your extended family? Do you wish you were closer? No; yes.
While on the road, do you play any road games? No.
Have you ever picked apples before? Not really, like at an orchard or something, but I have picked a wild apple out of a tree (it was on a friend's property; we all did it, with the owner) and it was the best apple I ever had.
Are you scared of semi-trucks? Especially when you’re driving next to one? I'm terrified of them. I get tense when I'm in a car where the driver is near one.
Do you have a fence? Along the back and one side of the house, we do.
If you have any pets, do you talk to them in a baby voice? uh, duh
Who was the last person to comfort you? My mom during one of those bad asthmatic episodes.
Do you think that in the end, everything will fall into place? Not necessarily, no. This sadly doesn't happen to everyone. Some people just live a shitty story with no pleasant resolution, no matter what they do.
What was the last thing you swallowed? Flavored water.
Do you like cats? I adore cats. I'm glad Girt's an obsessed cat dad now too because that means more cats in our future, haha.
On a scale of one to ten how much do looks matter to you? In a potential partner? Probably like... 2 or 3.
What are you listening to? "The Death of Peace of Mind" by Bad Omens.
What’s the closest pink object to you? There's pastel pink on the tumbler my sister gave me that I use for my flavored waters.
Are you afraid of thunderstorms? So, yes, but I can also enjoy them. I only get scared when there's a tornado risk.
Do you need a boyfriend/girlfriend to be happy? No. But I know historically, I've been happier when with a partner.
How much effort did you put into your last relationship? Before my current one? I put my all into it. I mean, at the time, I thought I was in love with this person. And when I feel like that, I go all in.
Do you have impulse control? Yes, at least to a degree. I can tell you I'm not the best at controlling my mouth when I'm hurt, but I'm definitely better than I was as a teen.
Would you do anything on a dare? Nope. I don't even go along with dares, I'll do what I want to and not do what I don't want to.

Naruto (cause I’m evil and I know he’s not your fav) and then Chojuro (because I love you)
Girl what are you doing making me think about Naruto Uzumaki lmao
Tumblr media
But you made up for it by also giving me Chojuro SO:
~NARUTO UZUMAKI~
Favorite thing about them
He truly believes in the best in people and never gives up on them.
Least favorite thing about them
To borrow a quote from Itachi: “He's the one who barges in and barks first.” Naruto tends to charge in without thinking and yell at his enemies, which puts himself and his teammates in danger.

for no. 44, luminous, mark, and yemevon: 💐⚾🍓📣🌈💌 !!!!
oh boy do i love answering questions! i'll handle their answers in sections, so 44 will be above the cut and i'll put everyone else's answers under for length.
NO. 44.
💐 BOUQUET - create a bouqet for them! what do those flowers mean? are any of the flowers their particular favourite?
44 isn't really a flower person, I should start off by saying. If he had a bouquet it would probably be all black-and-white flowers as he tends to drain the color out of things he touches. If I had to name a few flowers I'd pinpoint Zinnias, Tulips, and Roses, but again he's not really the type to care about that sort of thing. I'm not sure he even has a favorite flower as he's generally neutral about most things.
⚾ BASEBALL - can they play sports? what is their best position if they play a team sport? what's their strong suit (speed, power etc.)?
It probably wouldn't be beyond 44's ability to play sports but he doesn't. He's an academic first and foremost and doesn't care much for sports at all. If he participated in any sport, it'd be something he could do alone, like archery or figure skating. His greatest asset to any sport would be his quick thinking!
🍓 STRAWBERRY - do they eat their fruit & veg? what is their favourite fruit or vegetable?
He doesn't have a need of eating, so he doesn't eat anything at all very often. That said, owing to pestering by a certain individual, he has tried most foods and has a favorite fruit: watermelon!
📣 MEGAPHONE - how loud are they? what do they speak like? got a voice claim?
He speaks very evenly in every way. He's neither loud nor soft and never seems to raise his voice at all, nor does it have any kind of expressiveness. It's flat in a bored type of way, since he tends to speak like he's above everyone else around him---though he's right in a lot of ways. I don't have a voice claim for him, though.
🌈 RAINBOW - what advice would they give to their younger self?
It's hard to say. 44 doesn't remember being young, really, and he's a very static person who doesn't tend to change with the times. He's ALSO not in the habit of giving advice that might change the outcome of something, since he's a staunch believer in destiny. Maybe something like "do what feels right," if anything at all.
💌 LOVE LETTER - do they like love letters? what kind of messages do they leave for their partner?
Also hard to say. He's never sent or gotten one, nor has he had a partner that he could remember.
questions. / accepting.
LUMINOUS.
💐 BOUQUET - create a bouqet for them! what do those flowers mean? are any of the flowers their particular favourite?
Pink Camellia, White Clover, Daisy, Gardenia, Delphinium. Most of these flowers are declarations of love, which is because he's very in love with his best friend and it takes over so much of his thoughts always. Delphinium can be used to signify an open heart. I think his favorite is probably the clover!
⚾ BASEBALL - can they play sports? what is their best position if they play a team sport? what's their strong suit (speed, power etc.)?
Uh, he does E-Sports a little bit! Not in any professional capacity but he does play a certain MMO pretty fervently and competitively. In this particular venture he's the best at support and healing, and his strong suit is his general adaptability to all kinds of teamwork!
🍓 STRAWBERRY - do they eat their fruit & veg? what is their favourite fruit or vegetable?
Luminous isn't a fan of vegetables but he LOVES fruits, so he eats them often. His favorite fruit is blackberry!
📣 MEGAPHONE - how loud are they? what do they speak like? got a voice claim?
Luminous is highly selectively mute, and while he probably could eventually talk to someone he was comfortable enough with and if he was feeling good enough at the time, he hasn't spoken in a very long time. That said, he does laugh somewhat often, and I've always imagined his voice being smooth and in the tenor range when I think about that in particular. He does sign with his family and some others he knows in-person and in chat he is VERY expressive and loves to use kaomoji.
🌈 RAINBOW - what advice would they give to their younger self?
Probably something like "spend some more time with your friends." Luminous was and is a bit of a neet and a recluse, so sometimes when people invited him out he'd refuse because he figured there would always be a next time. Then suddenly he and his best friend didn't live close to eachother anymore, and they couldn't play games together as often either, so he was really depressed about that for a while because he regretted not hanging out more while he still could.
💌 LOVE LETTER - do they like love letters? what kind of messages do they leave for their partner?
Luminous LOVES the idea of love letters. He's an incredibly idealistic romantic in general and likes cheesy things like that---he's written his own fair share of love letters that never got sent and never will get sent, too. If he had a partner, he probably would be more bold about showing them his letters. I think he'd be the type to leave positive, silly sticky notes around for them to find too.
MARK TWAIN.
💐 BOUQUET - create a bouqet for them! what do those flowers mean? are any of the flowers their particular favourite?
Forget-me-nots, Geranium, Delphinium, Rosemary, Yellow Tulips. There are meanings to those flowers and reasons I picked them but much like most things about Twain, they are a secret. None of these flowers are his favorite, as he's mostly partial to sunflowers.
⚾ BASEBALL - can they play sports? what is their best position if they play a team sport? what's their strong suit (speed, power etc.)?
He probably could if he wanted to; he has decent speed and situational awareness. But he doesn't. His best attribute would probably be his speed if he did, though!
🍓 STRAWBERRY - do they eat their fruit & veg? what is their favourite fruit or vegetable?
He eats both when he can manage, but he's not partial to them. His favorite vegetable is broccoli and his favorite fruit is oranges!
📣 MEGAPHONE - how loud are they? what do they speak like? got a voice claim?
He's LOUD. He has a hard time with volume control and tends to forget about his inside voice sometimes. That said, he is capable of being quiet, but no matter the volume he's speaking at he still says most things in a very animated, transparent way. Or so he'd like you to think. I've had a lot of voice claims for Twain and haven't actually ever settled on one.
🌈 RAINBOW - what advice would they give to their younger self?
"Forgive your brother."
It sounds stupid and simple, but he hasn't seen his siblings since he ran away, so about 12 years. A lot of his reason for avoiding them initially was spite towards his oldest brother, and now he can't track any of them down.
💌 LOVE LETTER - do they like love letters? what kind of messages do they leave for their partner?
He doesn't hate love letters, but he doesn't prefer them either. He likes to declare his love in person if at all possible! Same with leaving messages---they're best delivered face to face, since he wants to be there if those messages are gonna make his partner smile.
YEMEVON.
💐 BOUQUET - create a bouqet for them! what do those flowers mean? are any of the flowers their particular favourite?
Hahaha. Yem would probably like a funeral arrangement best. They're not the sort of person to like flowers other than when they're used for mourning---at least, not quite yet. They have a lot of developing to do so that could change someday! That said, they're not really partial to any one type of flower, though they like white lilies because the temple of the Raven Queen they've recently begun to work at has a large garden full of them.
⚾ BASEBALL - can they play sports? what is their best position if they play a team sport? what's their strong suit (speed, power etc.)?
Yem cannot and does not play sports. I don't think Yem even knows what sports are.
🍓 STRAWBERRY - do they eat their fruit & veg? what is their favourite fruit or vegetable?
Yem really only eats to satisfy hunger so I'm sure he eats about the same amount of fruits and veggies as any other food. That said, he does generally have a preference for stronger flavors. Lemons and limes would delight him although I'm not sure he has easy access to either.
📣 MEGAPHONE - how loud are they? what do they speak like? got a voice claim?
Yemevon is generally very quiet and I'm not sure how to describe their tone. It's very broken up, flat, and dream-like almost. I'd say that the general manner of speech is similar to Jane Doe from Ride the Cyclone, though that's not necessarily a full on voice claim or anything. Just the speech patterns. I ended up playing him as a little melodic; a lot of his sentences usually started on a high note and ended lower because they don't actually know what a sentence is, rhythmically, meant to sound like. And they are, naturally, very blunt and succinct.
🌈 RAINBOW - what advice would they give to their younger self?
I'm not sure. At the point in his development I left him last, he's probably the younger self in need of advice. Because of the nature of his character creation I'd really like to explore him further with other people, but if I were to imagine his ideal future self giving the present Yemevon advice, I'd want them to say something like, "Not everything has to revolve around the rules you set out for yourself. People change, and you shouldn't be afraid of that."
💌 LOVE LETTER - do they like love letters? what kind of messages do they leave for their partner?
Not really. Yem is very straightforward and generally prefers to say things rather than write them. They're not a letters or left messages sort of person.

Nature Interpretation & Science
This week we focused on nature interpretation through science. Now, this is something I am more familiar with as I am a student studying both biology and psychology. To be more specific, I have studied nature in ecological contexts throughout my time as a Gryphon. There are many ways that we interpret nature through science, whether that be the process that take place in nature or the patterns and relationships that take place. For example, gardening can be seen as a specific science known as botany which focuses on plants and their genetics and environment. Gardening is something I myself do not take part in, but my grandpa as I have stated before is consumed by gardening and crops. Since I was a little girl our home in Bosnia is surrounded by grape vines, cherry trees, figs, tomatoes, watermelon, etc. When I get there, all the hard work is already over and it is just harvest season. I did not witness the extensive work that was put into the proper growth of a crop. For example, in order for a fig to grow properly, the company of female bee’s is significant as they lay eggs inside the fruit in order for the fig to ripen. Sometimes, we have a habit of just looking at our surroundings in nature, but not understanding how these things come to be. Whether it be from a continental drift, a seed that grew into a tree, or a burrow that is a home to a groundhog. Another example that I would like to touch on is a waterfall that is right outside of my home in Bosnia. The waterfall/water is called Duman and according to my family it has always been there. It is one of the main water sources in Livno and is the best drinking water.
Even though Duman was not manmade, it is up to the people who visit and native people to the town who choose to keep it clean and take care of it. In other words, science is the explanation for the waterfall or magic as some may believe. Almost everything that exists has a reason for existing and can be explained through science, whether that be people or the reason for the weeds growing on your grass. Sometimes this can be evident when looking at a tree in a forest, it may have a spotted or moldy texture to it as it was affected by a fungus or disease. That can happen to things in nature just as it happens to us. Lastly, I want to make mention the relationship that humans and nature have with one another. When you look at a numerical scale of the human and of a plant, there are many similarities that we share. Whether it be the need for oxygen or the similar epidermal layer under a microscope, we would be unable to exist without nature. Thankfully, us humans are able to understand some of these similarities, differences, benefits, and precautions

When You Wish Upon a Fury || Ari & Baz
TIMING: Current PARTIES: @genienotinabottle & @letsbenditlikebennett SUMMARY: Ari invites Baz along to smash some vampire watermelons for TikTok. Sensing Ari’s rage, Baz explains what they are and what they do and grants a nice wish for their new pal.
Frustration was no stranger to Ari. For as long as she could remember, she required a good deal of exercise to manage all the pent up aggression she carried. Prior to the revelation of how Silas died, soccer practice on top of her morning runs with the dogs had been doing a lot to leave her feeling relatively balanced. That all unraveled too quickly when she discovered the truth and only continued to spiral into a full on rage as Levi continued to speak of Silas’ death as if it was nothing. As if he was nothing. It left her blood boiling and her fists dying to smash something. Anything.
It was how she found herself alongside the good ‘ol Bazzle Dazzle again. While smashing biting watermelons wasn’t exactly the same thing as smashing a stupid demon’s pretty face, Ari knew it was better than nothing. Plus, it’d make for some good content. So she’d shot Baz a quick message and told them to meet her at the community garden. She’d come loaded up with long shovels this time, ready to turn the garden into her own little warzone. She wore cheap boots this time too. She’d be damned if the watermelons ruined another pair of Docs. “Hey,” she greeted, not fully able to remove the edge from her voice despite trying to appear cheerful, “You ready to show TikTok the magic and mess of Vampire Watermelons?”
They could feel it before they even got close. To a fury, rage was a tangible thing. It had a certain scent, a certain feel, a certain taste. Baz had become familiar with it over the centuries. An old friend had joked once that they were like a bloodhound — they could sniff out the angriest person in a room and get them to make something of that rage one way or another almost without trying, without thinking. It wasn’t particularly hard to do, especially not when the anger radiating off said person was so bright it was blinding.
And right now? Ariana looked like the sun.
They smiled as they approached, offering her a little wave that was far more dramatic than it really needed to be. “Oh, I’d love to smash some vampire melons on camera,” they replied with a small wink just to recognize the innuendo even if it hadn’t been entirely intentional. “But are you all right? You seem a bit stressed.”
For better or worse, her heart practically lived on her sleeve. Most of the time, Ari liked the fact that as a person, she was pretty earnest. Genuine. It did come as a bit of a drawback when anger and grief took the wheel. There was so much she just couldn’t explain, not to most people without sounding like a mad woman and not in the Taylor Swift song sort of way. Like actually bananas. Though given the whole Mime TikTok series she did with Baz, she had the feeling they might actually believe some of the crazy shit she’d been through.
Ari let out a sigh, loosening her tight grip on the shovel and finally answered, “Uh, not really, but it be like that sometimes I guess.” Or lots of times. Not that she was counting. She didn’t have enough fingers or math skills for that one. She rocked on the balls of her feet, eager to smash something, to let some of the anger out. Maybe pretend one of the watermelons was Levi’s stupid face. “Figure smashing some biting fruit will really uh… ease tension? Don’t wanna totally kill the mood.”
People, when they were like this, were thrillingly easy to nudge in whatever direction Baz needed them to go. The best wishes were the ones made in moments of rage, when the person pulling the proverbial trigger had no way of considering the consequences, no interest in minimizing the damage. Baz liked Ari well enough, of course, thought she was good fun to be around, but… Well. A fury had to eat, didn’t they? Besides, there was every chance that this could be good for her. Wishes didn’t always ruin lives. Sometimes, they really did make things better. Baz had seen it firsthand more than once.
They just had to do that small amount of nudging. If their recent encounter with Portia had taught them anything, it was that being obvious about things didn’t always end the way they might want it to if the person in question was particularly stubborn. With Ari, they thought, the best course of action might just be to… ease her into the idea. Just a little. “We can smash as much as you’d like. Though in my experience, talking through your problems is a better way of solving them than destruction. You don’t have to worry about mood-killing with me. And I’ve got it on good authority that I’m a pretty good listener. If you’re interested, that is.”
The way Baz had phrased their reassurance immediately struck something within Ari. Guilt, namely. Even without the guilt demon, she was trying to figure out how to move through that feeling. She supposed that what made her a good meal in the first place, the deep-rooted guilt that had made itself at home inside her. For all the talk she’d given Emilio about needing to deal with his feelings, here she was pretending everything was fine. Pretending that she hadn’t imagined punching Levi in its stupid face over and over again since it first started talking about Silas as if he never even mattered. As if he was just some pawn in a game with Emilio. Anger swelled in her alongside the guilt and she sighed, setting the shovel down.  “You didn’t have to @ me like that, Baz.”
Ari laughed a bit, trying to ease some of the tension she felt, but it came out stilted. “I’ve been getting on a friend for the same thing.” She gestured toward the watermelon patch and added, “Guessing given this there’s not much you wouldn’t believe, huh?”
Whatever this anger she was carrying was, it was clear it was rooted in pain. Baz could see it written all over her face, could point it out in the guilt and the grief reflected in her eyes. Emotions like this were familiar to them; they could paint this type of expression from memory. It might look a little different on everyone who wore it, but there was always a sense of something uniform lurking just beneath those differences. Things like this were painfully universal. Even Baz wasn’t immune. “Oh, but I’m so good at it,” they replied, tossing in another wink just for added flavor.
Glancing towards the watermelon field, the fury nodded. “I learned a long time ago that disbelief never gets anyone very far.” They’d been at this life a long time, after all; long enough to know that most of the monsters that lived beneath people’s beds were very real, and very rarely as monstrous as humans made them out to be. “There’s not much you can say that would surprise me. So if you need to talk through it, tell me what would make things better for you… Even if it’s something impossible, I find it’s good to get it out there.”
“Haha,” Ari deadpanned despite the fact she was actually a little bit amused by Baz’s antics. Part of her missed when she felt that lively more often than not. Now, it felt like there was always some lingering defeat hanging over her head, pushing her down and keeping her there. She wondered how they did, but maybe life had been kinder to them. At least, she hoped it was. There were very few people she’d wish that kind of pain on. The one person she knew deserved to feel her grief and anguish probably never would, didn’t seem to have the capacity for it.
“That’s what I think too,” Ari responded, thinking of a particular banshee who still didn’t believe she was a werewolf, “Can’t face things head on with denial and all.” It was comforting to know she couldn’t really surprise her new friend. Maybe talking some of it over would help. Trying to talk through it with Emilio was endlessly frustrating and she’d cried a bit to Rio, but that was sadness. It wasn’t the terrifying rage that lingered below the surface, feeding the more wolf-like parts of her nature, coaxing them out, daring them to take a bite of a sea monster and end it once and for all despite what she told Levi.
“My friend was murdered awhile back,” Ari explained, plopping down on the ground knowing the watermelons could wait, “He was… So good, you know? Kind, caring. Played guitar— I think you would have liked listening to him.” There was a crack in her voice, the grief behind the anger shining through. “His killer is free. Gloating. Taunting me about it like my friend meant nothing. I just wanna— well, would really like to rip them apart, but that’s not— I don’t want that to be me.”
In all honesty, Baz had no real opinion one way or another on human coping strategies. Their own strategy back when they’d been human had been to invent fantastic stories in which things were better, and it hadn’t helped but it hadn’t hurt, either. In the end, they supposed, those stories got them to where they were now, but they doubted there’d be such success in anyone else’s attempt. Perhaps that was partially their ego talking or perhaps, on some level, they understood that their methods hadn’t exactly been foolproof, either.
Ari was probably right, all things considered. Ignoring your problems wouldn’t get you anywhere. If Baz had been better at acknowledging theirs in reality instead of fiction, things with their father might have ended a little differently. Ari ignoring whatever was building that rage inside of her was only going to make the fire burn hotter. And not everything that would want a piece of that rage would be as nice about it as Baz was. Not everything would offer her something in return.
“I’m sorry,” they said gently, and they thought it might actually be true. Maybe it was the detail about the guitar that made the apology sincere. Baz had a soft spot for musicians, after all. “It’s terrible, seeing bad people get away with hurting good ones. My father was like that, you know. I wanted to rip him apart, too.” And they had, in the end, but that wasn’t a story they’d share here. Relating to someone’s problems was all well and good… but Baz could do far better. “What if I told you I could help you? Make this asshole who killed your friend pay for what they did? Without you having to rip them apart.”
“Th- I appreciate it,” Ari murmured, fists curling and uncurling in her lap, still tempted to barrel into something. Anything. None of it would bring Silas back. None of it would make Levi feel even an ounce of remorse for its actions. At this point, she wasn’t sure she could even pull Emilio out of the self-destructive funk he was in. There was nothing she could do without compromising everything she was, without giving up every part of Celeste that still lived in her. “I’m sorry your dad was like that,” she responded, “Would’ve never known with how friendly you are.”
The mention of help had Ari raising a brow. What kind of help could Baz give her? She didn’t want to kill Levi, but she wasn’t mad that fate seemed to have other ideas. Stupid Lkrak'Oaazhir was convinced it was getting its real body back and that the fates were bullshit. Still so arrogant and content to taunt her about the death of a loved one. A loved one that it took. If Baz could make it pay without killing it, she was interested. A glitter and spice bomb was only scratching the surface of what she wished that stupid had to endure. “How,” she asked, head tilting as she asked the question.
Smart girl. Baz knew that Ari wasn’t clueless about the supernatural, of course — she had invited them out here to smash vampire watermelons, after all, and she had understood the Sauce well enough to know how to get out of its effects — but plenty of people who knew the supernatural still only knew parts of it. Plenty of capable people who weren’t human themselves sometimes slipped up with their thank yous and there I promises. Baz found themself surprisingly pleased that Ari seemed to know what she was doing. Glancing away at her apology, he shrugged a shoulder. “Yes, well, I make it a point to be as little like him as possible.” Some days, he was even good at it.
Of course, she didn’t know how they could help her. That was by design. Baz didn’t often advertise what they were, and for good reason. Furies were hard to kill, but not impossible. And there were plenty of people out there who’d love the notoriety of being able to claim they’d done it. But… Ari wasn’t one of them. Not if she didn’t even want to kill the person who’d murdered her friend. So, Baz decided to opt for honesty that hadn’t been entirely characteristic of them in some centuries. “I’ll be blunt,” he said, leaning in a little. “I know you know there’s more to this town than meets the eye. I know you know I’m aware of the same. I suspect you’re not entirely human, and I’m sure you suspect the same of me. So, tell me, Ari, are you familiar with furies? Have you ever heard of an erinyes?”
The fact her new friend wasn’t entirely human didn’t come as much of a surprise to Ari. Someone who accepted the sauce for what it was typically had a general idea of what was happening in White Crest. However, furies or erinyes– that was a new one. Of all the things she’d encountered in White Crest, she’d never met an erinyes. Not that she had any idea what that meant, but if they could help her get back at Levi, make it feel even a fraction of the frustration it had caused for her and Emilio and likely many others, she was here for it. She thought of Silas and how gentle he’d been, how he’d just been starting to pull himself out of the sadness that weighed down on him. How he’d brightened the room with gentle guitar melodies or flowers in the windowsill. How all of those things, while important and beautiful, felt haunted in a way now. Such little signs of joy now laced grief and absence.
“I like blunt,” Ari responded slowly, “I’m a werewolf.” If he was being honest, she could extend the same courtesy. Not that her being a werewolf was some deeply kept secret. “Never heard of furies though. Or erinyes. Which I’m guessing are the same thing?” How that helped with her problem was a mystery, but she was curious. Eager to know more, both about Baz and how they could help her make Levi’s life just a little more miserable.
Ari being a werewolf was the sort of thing that made sense. It fit her, in its own sort of way. So much so that if she’d said anything else, Baz might have been suspicious. They offered a brief nod in response to the confession, tossing in a bright grin along with it. Things like this were better with honesty.
“Sort of the same thing, yes. An erinyes is… Let’s call it a subtype of a fury. Like how a werewolf is a type of shifter. There’s another category of us as well, but that’s not entirely important for the time being. What’s important is that I can help you.” They’d done this song and dance before, told people the rundown of what they were in order to get a wish out of them. These days, they preferred the less dangerous option of dancing around the truth of it and waiting for the person to slip up instead, but… Baz liked Ari. And he felt for her. For the loss she’d suffered, for the rage that came with it. It was a familiar thing. “I grant wishes. Anything you want, with the usual exceptions. Raising the dead is messy — I can’t recommend that one — but punishing the guilty? That’s sort of my whole thing. I should warn you, there’ll be blowback… but I’d say it’s worth it, wouldn’t you? To get justice for your friend without sacrificing your morality. To make his murderer suffer without killing them. To give them what they deserve, and nothing more. Nothing less. You say the word, Ariana, and I’ll do it for you. For your friend.”
On any other day, Ari would have been filled with questions about furies and what other types there were, but right now, all she could think was she had a chance to make Levi pay for what it did to Silas. For what it continued to put Emilio through. For everyone else it likely hurt and saw as nothing in its stupid existence. Her fists still wanted to wrap tightly around something, feel the force of her strength breaking something, but she could still do that too. The vampire watermelons were right there, they could ease that physical tension, but the hurt that still flooded her mind could have an outlet, too.
She listened to Baz closely, her mind already trying to workout a wish that would bring the stupid Leviathan a world of hurt. Ari wanted it to feel every bit of heartache it caused her, Emilio, and Silas over the months. Wanted it to know how all-consuming grief and despair could be. If they wanted to treat torment like it was a fucking game, she could play a card even better. “A wish,” she said slowly, wrapping her mind around the concept, “Blowback is fine. Everything has blowback.” Inaction even had its blowback and whatever came back to her couldn’t be as bad as Emilio getting himself killed.
“So do I just say a wish and you do your thing,” Ari asked, as she thought over how she’d word what she wanted, her mind stuck on the words “nothing more, nothing less”. That’s exactly what she wanted, for it to feel all the hurt it caused and just that. If it happened to learn a thing or two, she wouldn’t hate it, but she mostly wanted it to feel her pain. Emilio’s pain. Silas’ pain. For it to look back on what it did to Silas and feel something akin to remorse. “I think I’ve got it,” she said, pushing herself up to stand a bit taller than she normally did, “I wish for Lkrak'Oaazhir to feel all the pain and anguish it causes others.”
She was going to do it. There was never any doubt about that. With all the rage and anguish radiating off of her, Baz had known from the start that if they offered, she’d accept. And maybe that should have told them not to offer. Maybe they should have just let Ari smash watermelons and avoid her problems the way most people did. But Baz had never been good at denying themself, had never been skilled in abstaining. Ari’s rage and the wish that would come from it would make one hell of a meal. And if she knew about the blowback and accepted that, then there was really no harm done, was there? She wanted this. And Baz wanted it, too. What was the point in saying no?
“As simple as that,” they confirmed with a nod, leaning forward a little more. “Just be sure you wish for what you want. I need specifics if I’m going to actually help you.” The wish would still go wrong, because they always did, but if Ari was careful enough with the wording, she’d still get something out of it. (Baz, of course, would get something out of it either way.)
She stood a little straighter, and Baz leaned back in anticipation. The words were spoken. The name wasn’t one he recognized — one of those long, complicated ones that someone had given themselves to sound tough, he figured — but it didn’t matter. The magic would find whoever it was meant for; it always did. Baz smiled, waving a hand theatrically. “It’s done,” they told her. “Lkrak'Oaazhir will feel every ounce of the pain they’ve caused you and everyone else. They’ll get everything they deserve. Nothing more, nothing less. Just like you wanted.” It was too soon to say if it would be worth it; strangely, Baz found themself hoping that it was. They didn’t usually root for the people whose wishes they granted, but… Ari was easy to root for.
Almost as soon as Ari spoke the wish, she felt a little less heavy. All the pain she carried wasn’t just hers to carry anymore. Levi would feel it too. It’d feel her pain. It’d feel Emilio’s pain. Maybe it’d even feel Silas’ pain. It’d definitely feel the pain of any others it hurt. It’d have to wake up with that feeling that made it almost impossible to move, that feeling of someone sitting on your chest, choking the air out of you, but you could still breathe. It’d feel all of that and more and she couldn’t find it in herself to feel sorry for it. Not after all Levi had done. Not after how it gloated about it.
There was a certain sense of satisfaction that came to Ari knowing her wish had been granted. Baz had been honest with her about the blowback, so she’d be ready for it and found herself feeling particularly grateful for her new friend. “I appreciate you doing your thing. I have a feeling it’ll be worth it. Maybe this person will even learn something, but either way, I appreciate it… Now what do you say we actually smash these watermelons? I’m sure our viewers are looking forward to our reunion.”

Personal: Birthday, Allergies, Climate Apocalypse
I had hoped to post the aggregate before going offline for several days.  Obviously, that didn't happen.  I'm also dealing with terrible air quality and a massive amount of pain, and I just kept needing to go to bed early.  I am doing my best to catch up on all the stuff that didn't get done here and elsewhere.  Bare with.
Oldest Continuous friend, aka the Pseudo-Sibling, arrived safe Friday and we hung out all afternoon and Evening.  Saturday's party was excellent.  (Everyone vaccinated.  Four of us Omicron boosted, the others careful maskers).  Sunday, Head Millennial made Lasagnas and the three of us had a really nice dinner.  I picked up the Pseudo-Sibling after my morning appointment and we hung out until it was time for them to go.  A grand time was had by all except Livia, who gave up and decided to pretend the guest wasn't here as there was important cat business she was putting off.
Testing went as expected for the most part, but yielded interesting new data regarding the Cantaloupe incident.  I am wildly, wildly allergic to grass.  I was mildly allergic as a kid, but it was mostly a matter of itching when forced to sit on it, but living for years in Eugene surrounded by grass farmers and burn clouds, I started really getting sick.  This is no surprise.  Two previous allergists treated me for grass, weed, and tree allergies, but after my mother died there was no way to cover the copay, so I stopped getting treatment.  Modern Medicare covers it free, so here I am.
Apparently, in a tiny percentage of adults allergic to the two types of grass I am wildly allergic two (as opposed to somewhat or mildly allergic to), the pollen can bind to the proteins in certain fruits and vegetables anfd one can get a very bad reaction.  The most common of these sets of fruit and vegetables this can happen with in the case of my worst grass species is cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, and cucumber.  My instinct not to test honeydew and watermelon was the correct one.  The cantaloupe that nearly set me to the hospital was from the height of grass season, thus the very worst time to eat one.  The good news is there's a chance I'll get melons and cucumber back if I eat them early in the season and the treatments are successful, as I'm not actually allergic to the foods themselves.  It was the equivalent of me swallowing fistfuls of grass.
It is so like me to have a rare reaction.
In other allergy news, we knocked out the tree I was allergic to last go round, which just leaves grasses and a couple of weeds.  I am still not allergic to cats, dogs, and mites.  I am never allergic to indoor anything, which allergist usually never believe and insist on retesting.  This doctor believed me and the results of testing.  I am so allergic to perennial rye that the big raised ball of rash was still driving me crazy at bedtime even with all the meds.  It was dramatically worse than the positive control and the other really bad grass, which barely itched by that point.
Weird thing that came out of it.  My previous allergic apparently moved and now shares a practice with current allergist, but all the old records are lost.  O.o
When I went out for my free birthday pumpkin chai, it looked almost like the Dustbowl from wildfire particulates.  I had to go inside because they closed the drive thru for air quality.  It was that bad. Seriously do you know how bad it has to be out there for Starbucks to start caring about health and safety? It's hard not to stare at the sun when it's that shade of red.  It's mesmerizing.
In other news, I'm still behind on bills, but I do have money to sort out the car for winter.  It will be tight, but I have hopes of November working out.

Thanks @agenderautomaton for giving me the opportunity to have fun (also not going to tag anyone bc I don't know anyone else XD)
indoor plants or gardens (in this scenario it's a garden of weeds and wild flowers, I cannot keep plants alive anywhere)
cloud-watching or star-gazing (honestly don't care for either but I do sometimes look at the stars while listening to music in the winter)
water or fire
paperback or hardcover (don't need to break the spine to read them, epic fantasy books don't come in "part 1" and "part 2"; I'm not going to buy one book for the price of two)
running or hiking (maybe an odd choice as I have injured myself quite badly by running several times but at least if I get injured while running I can call an ambulance. Not gonna risk my life somewhere with no cellphone reception)
sleeping with socks or without socks (I only wear socks if I'm going out or if I'm walking quite far to avoid blisters from my shoes)
fruit or vegetables (Strawberries, my beloved)
hanging plants or succulents (not to take care of, I killed my succulent in under a year)
dark wood or light wood
handwritten or typed
instagram or pinterest (it's great for saving links to recipes...)
braids or pigtails
dc or marvel (just bc Hellblazer is my favorite rn)
books or movies (these are such different types of media, makes no sense to compare them imo. A book is going to last way longer and finding new ones I'm interested in is easier)
oceans or meadows (I have a phobia of fish if you hadn't heard)
forests or fields
sweet or salty
ice cream or chocolate
hoodies or sweaters (I used to think I was a hoodies guy but then I got some sweaters and I realized the hood annoys me infinitely and while the big pocket a lot of my hoodies have is really convenient for putting my phone in, hay gets trapped in there forever)
long hair or short hair (I'm growing my hair out for a certain hairstyle I thought was cool, regretted it instantly, still committed to it tho. Not only is long hair detrimental to my wellbeing for no reason. It's also extremely annoying to wash, takes ages to dry, gets tangled, wearing my overear headphones is super uncomfortable bc the hair always gets in the way)
piercings or tattoos (I sort of have to pick it bc I have piercings but no tattoos + getting tattoos is harder than piercings)
summer or winter (I have a history of slipping and falling which is quite painful as I injured my tailbone pretty bad as a child)
boots or sneakers (I wear sneakers in -17 degrees, 20 cm of snow... I like boots though, just don't automatically decide to wear them ever)
cars or motorcycles (I lack the balance to ever be on a motorcycle)
curls or straight hair
castles or cottages
sunny days or storms (It's storming right now, I love it tbh)
reptiles or birds
disney or nickelodeon
strawberries or watermelon (I can't believe watermelon has been put on the same level as strawberries. That's like comparing water to whatever the best drink is)
essay or posters (genuinely do not understand this one... If it's which one I'd rather make I'll say essay bc anything else is nearly always a group project)
phones or laptops
glass or stone
dark or light
photos or painting
circuses or theatres
reading or writing
dogs or cats (illegal question warning)
poetry or novels
monsters or ghosts
thrift shops or libraries (tbh I often find thrift shops crowded and barely enough space for me to move)
fiction or non-fiction

CSA WEEK 14
P i c k l i s t
watermelon - roma tomatoes - garlic - poblano pepper -
Cherry tomatoes - carmen peppers - lunchbox peppers - carrots
THIS WEEK AT EDGEWATER…
We remain swimming in field tomatoes.  I believe the crop of plums might be at peak, or nearing peak yields right now.  The plants are dripping with fruit, and this abundance is simultaneously soul-nourishing-farmer-pleasing and totally overwhelming.  Being rich in tomatoes lends itself to a real feeling of urgency.  A crop based time crunch.
For one, as soon as the fruit ripens, we have only so much time until the juice of the tomato bursts through the skin and rots the fruit.  The crew has done an incredible job of staying on top of the pick, however it is inevitable that some of the cherries and plums will rot before we move/sell/cook/eat them.
The second feeling of urgency comes when the weather turns and the nights move toward fall and flannel.  This is that moment in between seasons that makes me want to harvest everything all the time by day and preserve via canning or freezing all the time by night.  This harvest rush makes for a real crazy person (i.e. me).
This week’s CSA share 100% reflects that crazy.  Please join me as we get into it and go deep with tomatoes.  By Sunday I expect everyone of your countertops to be tomato splattered and every dish piled high in your sink. But come JANUARY, you will be so pleased that you followed suit and took to heart the farmy foodie canny pro-tips.
Let’s CAN people!
(wait wait let me try again)
We CAN do this!
FARMY FOODIE PRO-TIPS the canners edition:
by far my fave way of preserving cherries and plums
It is simple and the only ingredients you need are tomatoes/salt/pepper/GARLIC/olive oil.
READ ON…
Cherry, grape or small Roma tomatoes
Whole cloves of garlic, unpeeled
Olive oil
Herbs such as thyme or rosemary (optional) Preheat the oven to 225°F. Halve each cherry or grape tomato crosswise, or Roma tomato lengthwise and arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet along with the cloves of garlic. Drizzle with olive oil, just enough to make the tomatoes glisten. Sprinkle herbs on, if you are using them, and salt and pepper, though go easily on these because the finished product will be so flavorful you’ll need very little to help it along.
Bake the tomatoes in the oven for about 3 hours. You want the tomatoes to be shriveled and dry, but with a little juice left inside–this could take more or less time depending on the size of your tomatoes.
Either use them right away or let them cool, cover them with some extra olive oil and keep them in the fridge for the best summer condiment, ever. And for snacking.
JENNY’S NOTE:  Smitten’s slow roasted tomatoes stop there… but I am suggesting you take it one step further.  Let’s can :)
STEP 1: Prepare your jars and lids- clean them, dry them/ get em lined up and ready.
STEP 2: Prepare your water bath (big pot with boiling water)
STEP 3-STEP 100: is an excerpt from Tart and Sweet: 101 Canning and Pickling Recipes by Kelly Geary and Jessie Knadler (Rodale, 2011). The excerpt is from Chapter 6: Summer. I am also going to provide their favorite recipe to can tomatoes in case you want to go the “whole” tomato route.  However, if you want to take your newly roasted tomatoes and skip ahead to the canning part, go ahead and ladle your warm batch of tomatoes into jars, skip to bullet point 3 and proceed with the lemon juice. But do not add water- any juice leftover from your smashed down cherry tomatoes is enough!
Canned Tomatoes
• 12–15 pounds tomatoes, blanched, peeled, andcored • About 8 cups water per quart jar • 2 tablespoons bottled lemon juice (or 1 tablespoon per pint jar) • 1 teaspoon kosher salt (or 1/2 teaspoon per pint jar)
1. Leave the tomatoes whole or quarter or halve them, as desired.
2. Bring the water to a boil in a large saucepan (you may need more or less, depending on the size and cut of the tomatoes). Reduce the heat, but keep the water hot.
3. Place the appropriate amount of lemon juice and salt in each hot jar. Top with raw tomatoes.
4. Ladle hot water into the jars to cover the tomatoes, leaving 1/2 inch headspace. Check for air bubbles, wipe the rims, and seal. Process quarts for 45 minutes, pints for 40 minutes, adjusting for elevation.
YIELD: 4 quarts or 8 pints
Ok DO YOUR BEST HERE PEOPLE! I Highly recommend you get yourself a copy of this book. It is extremely user friendly and chock full of all my fave ways to preserve. Writing it one more time for the boys in the back:
Tart and Sweet: 101 Canning and Pickling Recipes by Kelly Geary and Jessie Knadler
And if you are not ready to can, but do want roast your maters go ahead and these little gems on toast, with eggs, by the spoonful, or make soup:
Roasted Tomato and Goat Cheese Soup from the cook book: lucid food
serves 4
12 ripe tomatoes
2 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
1 yellow onion, coarsely chopped
1 tablespoon honey
2 sprigs fresh rosemary
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
4 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 dried bay leaf
1/4 cup fresh goat cheese
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Core and quarter the tomatoes and scoop out the seeds, reserving the seeds and cores for the stock. In a large bowl, toss the tomatoes with the garlic, onion, honey, rosemary, 1 tablespoon of the vinegar, 3 tablespoons of the olive oil, and a dash of salt. Spread the mixture on a baking sheet and roast for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove the rosemary and set aside. Combine the tomato scraps, bay leaf, and 1 cup water in a pot and bring to a boil over high heat. Decrease the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Strain the stock into a bowl and discard the solids. Rinse the pot and return the stock to the pot. Add the roasted tomatoes. Bring to a boil over high heat, then decrease the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes. Let the soup cool for 10 minutes, then pour into a blender. Add the cheese and blend until smooth. With the blender running, add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil. Season to taste with salt.
Garnish the soup with the remaining 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar and a few grinds of pepper and serve.

Favorite Fruit(s): Ai is very fond of both purple and pink colored fruits, even if they aren't actually purple of pink, like grapes for example. Nobody really knows why exactly, but many believe it's simply because of their cute colors. Though watermelon is especially his favorite.
Favorite Activity(ies): One of Ai's favorite activities is ice skating, in fact, he loves it so much that he ended up making it his full time career once he reached adulthood. He has always had a fascination with the way others are able to glide so gracefully across the ice without falling even a single time. Another of Ai's favorite activities is to take care of his son, Sung-Hoon. Despite it being a difficult thing to do, he enjoys spending as much time as possible with the newborn and is always eager to play with him in any way that he can.
Favorite Flower(s): Two of Ai's favorite flowers are the Hydrangea and the Amaryllis.
Favorite Season(s): Despite the difficulty that snow brings when trying to move around outside, Ai's favorite season is winter. He isn't a fan of the cold, but it's at times like this where snuggling and bundling up with someone you love is at it's best. He's a sucker for affection.
Favorite Insect(s): Aside from butterflies and ladybugs, Ai doesn't have a favorite bug due to being highly afraid of them.
Favorite Animal(s): Ai's favorite animal is definitely a bunny. He just loves how small and soft they are, not to mention they remind him of his son.
Favorite Gem(s): One of Ai's favorite gems is the Tanzanite while the other is the Spinel.
Favorite Time of Day: Ai's favorite time of day is definitely the evening because this is generally around the time he returns home from his various ice skating events and can spend time with his son.

Banting dinner day 2!
Hey ho, let's go. This little tiny boxed wine is exactly three glasses of cabernet, La Croix, mediocre Starkist tuna salad and crackers, gyro meat, and mangos.
There's vegetables in tuna salad, right? That counts as a vegetable if ketchup does (does it still?)
No urgent errands to run this afternoon that can't wait 3 hours so yes, it's 3:30pm, and I'm nervous but gonna drink three glasses of wine with dinner for science.
Did you ever notice that Aldi tuna salad is 100x better than the name brand? But I own it, and it must have some nutrients in it, even if it is filled with polyunsaturated fat (boo, if you're not sure why this is a bad thing, it's because the more unsaturated a fat is, the more free radicals it forms in your body. Free radicals are why people say you need to eat antioxidants. It's why more and more processed food manufacturers are switching to "high oleic" aka more saturated varieties of oils...but that doesn't fix the root issue. Even palm oil, which is very saturated and stable, does this. But that's a discussion for another day!). Still, I'm hungry, and it tastes better than I remember, just has a bitter aftertaste.
This wine is definitely more acidic than Coppola's Claret but it does pair well with the gyro meat.
This is not the Indian mango I was expecting. It has a weird aftertaste, like melons and cucumbers do, it's too fibrous, and it makes my mouth itch a little. I have what is known as an "oral pollen allergy" which is another reason I almost never eat fresh fruits and veg. My body basically is telling me "You don't need to eat these things to be healthy." Or at least cook them first. Hard pass. I can always freeze it and then try baking it later.
I must look up which fruits and veg were widely available during different seasons in Banting era England. I'm tempted to fry bananas or plantains and consume that as my fruit, or I can eat baby food, but I might have to stick to things like baked apples because I know most fruits were less sweet and smaller 161 years ago and they definitely couldn't waltz into Whole Foods and get watermelon in January. Someone call a historian! I want my diet to be as historically accurate as possible.
Also, I'm curious now: I'm happy to not drink during the middle of the day, it does feel a bit like a hassle, but are there any cultures left in the world where it is still culturally acceptable to drink like Mad Men and have a three martini lunch? I'm not endorsing it, I will not be drinking before or during working hours even if I work from home, but I'm just curious. There must be, right? My best guess would be somewhere in Eastern Europe, although I'd find it hard to believe if Russians didn't at least proclaim to deem that unacceptable these days.
Although one time during the pandemic this guy from a legit healthcare company called me drunk as hell to see if I would take a survey about my insurance. He pronounced the "Dr." in my address as "Doctor" dead serious and stood by it without apology. He only mildly slurred but did have enough lag time and silly mistakes and even a giggle or two which informed me he was almost certainly not dyslexic or something similar but crunk. I looked up his employer for remote jobs because I figured it would be a sweet gig if he hadn't been fired yet but sadly they required cross country travel for training which wasn't feasible at the time.
Update: Ugh, this tuna salad sucks, I can't finish it. Trying to finish gyro meat, it's fine but technically a few days past expiration, but it's hard to just eat a pile of meat, bruh, even when it's moist and spiced so nice.
And it's almost as hard to drink this much wine, but at least it goes down without chewing. I gotta re-read his pamphlet, it's been a few years, but I don't remember him drinking much water? I could not drink this much wine without water. Oof. It's heavy.
Did my most valiant but could not choke down the last slice of gyro meat. Back in the fridge it goes.
