Work killed me these past 4 days but I'm back to posting now. time to write an essay about my favorite character please look at her
Meet Ashkar!! She is my baby and I love her lots. Ashkar is my oldest and undoubtedly my favorite character of mine - she's like, 11 years old by now! I've grown up with this character and she's very close to me. Despite that, I don't actually have a ton of art for her x.x
Ashkar is a dragon - part of an original species I'm still working on. Except she's more than just a dragon, she's also kind of an overpowered god. When I was a kid she was a MASSIVE mary-sue but I've been trying to organize her powers and backstory into something reasonable. Binging Dragonball for 2 years straight kinda inspired me to rework her abilities. They all revolve around her role as an Overseer, a deity-like figure who protects and maintains galaxies. You could call her a guardian of the galaxy, but then the movies came out and I had to call her something else. smh marvel stole my idea /j She draws power from the cores of planets and stars in her territory, and has to keep them healthy so she stays strong. Ashkar can create and destroy planets and manipulate their cores, she has some awesome fire breath, can shapeshift, and has minor elemental and mind-controlling powers. Oh, and she's immortal.
Personality-wise, Ashkar is reckless and impulsive and loves to show off her strength. She is incredibly energetic and barely knows patience. She isn't evil - she doesn't thirst for power, or enjoy the suffering of innocents, or want dominance over the universe - but she can be selfish. Ashkar wants to be happy and find joy in life. She wants the people she cares about most - her brother Hirosian and her lover Nephaphem - to be safe and happy. But it's hard for her to feel compassion for normal, mortal beings. Ashkar has lived for millions of years and doesn't plan on dying anytime soon. She's tried caring for every living thing, tried protecting the thousands of civilizations from every perceivable harm, but it just doesn't work out. She can't save everybody. It's not her job to save everybody - her job is to make sure they don't all die, and that their planet remains stable. When danger isn't around, Ashkar is focused on simply having fun. She likes to try new things, explore new places, and meet new creatures. She likes to laugh and sing and dance and not worry about the past or what the future holds.
Ashkar can be incredibly irresponsible with her power, especially when she gets fired up, but the one person that keeps her in control is her brother, Hirosian. Despite their differences, the two are inseparable. I'll talk about him and Nephaphem in a separate post.
that was a lot x.x thanks for reading. If you have any questions about Ashkar PLEASE I would love to answer them. I could talk about her all day.

Exploring Exciting Ways to Spend Time on the Internet

Exploring Ways to Spend Time on the Internet
Even with the busy schedules, everyone can attest to that moment they tried to kill time with something meaningless. If you have the internet, you don’t have to waste your precious time. Because there is too much the entertainment world offers. From streaming to playing games to chatting online with friends, there is so much fun on the web including streaming services, shopping and more. Let's look at the most exciting ways spend time on the internet. Let’s find out how to fire up ourselves and have a lot of fun.
1. Streaming
Could you be a binge watcher and you think you have run out of content? Stream Disney Plus content from anywhere, as far as I know, Disney plus streaming service is a gem! We bet you will not tire of watching their 4K HDR content that cannot be compared to its peers. There are many classics from the Disney Family, the likes of Star Wars, Lucasfilm, and Marvel. And there is everything for everyone. There are hundreds of streaming services, and most of them have monthly subscriptions, such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Peacock and much more. All these have excellent original shows and movies with lots of comedies you can watch and have fun with. Even with this, we know how it’s boring to get the best content to stream due to the sheer number of options. But thanks to technology, you can use a movie recommendation engine to get what you want on streaming services. Let’s say you want some popular movies on Netflix, you only need to filter those with the highest IMDb rating, or you can use Rotten Tomatoes which gives the percentage depending on the critic reviews with positive claims.
2. Online gaming
The perfect fun, maximum entertainment! As you play games, you socialize; you also relax, especially when participating in multi-player online games. Some connection develops togetherness when people participate in one activity. Let’s take an example of puzzle games. You can get an exciting experience as you exchange ideas. With adventure or action games, you can kick, shout, jump, laugh or do anything you want. You can even choose the games with shootouts for more fun. But this would be for those who love thrillers or crime games or any other game with superb graphics. However, not every online game may give you the best experience. If you’re a Netflix subscriber, you can enjoy online games such as Shooting Hoops, The Circle, Card Blast, The Game, and others at no extra cost.
3. Read eBooks and blogs
If you love reading, you know how one feels enlivened. You don’t have to keep sticking to your hard copies of cooking guides, house management or parenting guide books. Everything is online. You get to read content or even watch those who have ever tried the hacks. Reading a book online needs less effort than when you would keep on pursuing pages. Downloadable eBooks can be saved for later use. The eBook may be carried about and read anytime to spend time on the internet. Students and staff can access the instructional materials from home or while on the road. It is suitable for folks who are constantly on the move. Offline access is available on some eReaders, allowing users to utilize them even when they are not connected to the internet. eBooks are small and light, making them easy to transport. One eBook reader may contain thousands of eBooks instead of numerous bulky books. Apart from the books, you can enjoy blog posts on the topics you are interested in. And as you read, you can comment on opinions. By getting the information you need, you get that personal fulfillment. It’s a great way to save time and money.
4. Listen to podcasts
Nowadays, podcasts have become so popular. The popularity took a notch higher during the pandemic. With podcasts, you can listen to what you want with a click. There is a podcast for nearly everything. The best thing is that you can multitask as you listen to your favorite episode. If you are doing some laundry, cooking, driving and feeling bored, podcasts can help unleash your happiness. If bored, you can quickly build rapport with an instant community. It’s an on-demand technology. Again, you can listen on the go, they are pretty portable, and at the same time, you cut down on costs. Like other forms of entertainment, choose between different genres of podcasts: non-fiction narrative, scripted fiction, conversation or hybrid podcasts, all depending on the kind of entertainment you want.
5. Shopping online
The Internet has made everything easy, from getting prepared meals to paying bills to getting your wardrobe fancy. There is so much fun. The pattern of online shopping surged because of the lockdown. Research shows that there was a growth of 30%. And indeed, the change will last forever as more consumers learn how to use e-commerce and digital solutions. Online shopping helps you plan well; there is less impulse buying. Sometimes, you lose track of what you want to buy and end up buying other stuff and using more money. Also, you get the best deals while saving time that could be used to watch your favorite movies or shows. Besides, as sellers woo customers to buy more, they, in turn, provide a variety of products. This helps to compare features or prices while seated on your couch. So, you get what you want with less hustle.
Conclusion
You don’t have to be bored, but at the same time, getting something to make you happy is not easy either. The fact that the internet is loaded with every kind of stuff may feel overwhelming. But we’ve already sorted you out; have much fun on the internet! Read the full article

I have many mixed feelings about Thor and the Marvel franchise ever since Avengers, so I will be documenting all the things that will not appear in Thor: Love and Thunder below.
In Thor: Love and Thunder, we will not get to see:
Frigga as Allmother ruling Asgard like she deserved. Thanks for burning that bridge, Marvel.
Baldr, Tyr, or Angela. They screwed up the whole “surprise children we forgot to tell you about” so introducing any of these characters now would be rather redundant.
Heven
All the glorious warrior Lesbians Thor is supposedly the patron of. Sad, I know. But maybe we’ll get to see Valkyrie with a girlfriend? Maybe we can see all the worthy female bachelorettes in Asgard competing to be Queen of New Asgard. Sif vs Amora? Lol, jk.
Thor getting the emotional healing he deserves.
Flashbacks of Loki where we get to explore the complex relationship between him and Thor.
An introduction of Karnilla Queen of the Norns, which could lead to a confrontation between Thor and the Norns or even Those Who Sit Above in Shadow, because let’s be honest. That storyline is too complicated.
A major conflict with Thor searching for a way to restore the glory of the Nine Realms vs Jane, who uses the hammer to protect Earth and the current residents of New Asgard, because again. Too complicated.
A confrontation between Thor and the Norns or TWSAIS where Thor says he’s tired of their meddling, destroys the loom and brings everyone back the correct way as fate demands. (Idk, maybe Those Who Sit Above in Shadow found out that there was more residual energy from preventing the full Ragnarok Cycle from being realized so they removed key threads in the weaving, like Baldr and Loki’s children, and now they are able to draw on some energy produced from such a massive rewrite of history? Who knows. Definitely too complicated for the MCU.)
Thor brings back all the lost Asgardians or even just Loki and we get to enjoy Loki in the form of Kid Loki or Lady Loki. Who is even that picky anymore?
Things we might get in the upcoming movie:
Sif returns from wherever the Hel she went. I think someone mentioned that she was banished, though why Loki would banish Sif and not the rest of the Warrior’s Three is beyond me. Sadly, the Three are still dead along with anyone else who ever mattered most likely. *The wiki does say that Odin banished her, but is this mentioned in the movies?
Amora and Lorelei? (No promises this will even happen. When you can go back and say, well they did it in Agents of Shield, you could probably argue that they don’t really care about consistency anymore.) *Lorelei is portrayed in the show but not Amora.
Jokes about Thor’s intelligence and worthiness as God of Thunder. Nobody respects Thor.
Thor suffering but never adequately processing the trauma he has experienced through the loss of his family and being constantly reminded of his brother being a villain and how that is reflected in his own failures.
Some conversation about why Thor and Jane broke up and why it’s Thor’s fault because of his god-sized ego, or not caring enough, or putting Asgard/Midgard/ the Avengers first because he always has to play the hero.

Hate to be dramatic up in this but...
I’m really tired of being picked last every single fucking time
Like....
What am I doing wrong?
Whether or not I was even considered, why was I not chosen? Why was I left behind?
Everyone always talks about how covid quarantine was so hard being away from everyone but nobody is gonna even mention how hard it’ll be when everyone’s back together except for you. How you, for whatever fucking reason, weren’t worth a thought or a mention.
Obviously I can come up with millions of reasons why I think people don’t like me or care about me because I’ve hated myself for my entire fucking life (a professional of the sorts, if you would). But I wanna hear it from the mouth of anyone besides the bitch in my head. I can sit here and tell myself all the fucked up ways to “fix” every problem I have with myself but I can’t fix whatever it is that pushes people away from me if no one will tell me what it is.
I have always tried to remind myself that I can’t rely on other people for my own happiness and health. But goddamnit I can’t do this by myself. I never have and never will be able to do it by myself and I’ve come to accept that but it still doesn’t make it any easier.
I beg anyone struggling with their mental or physical health to find the help you need. It’s gonna be hard and you’re gonna be scared but it’s gotta be so much better than allowing yourself to rot in an unsafe space. And to anyone else, if you have anyone you care about...Check on them. Even if it’s just texting to ask how they’re day is or that you’re just checking in. It may seem so simple and menial to you, but to them it could mean the world. I know that none of you know me but feel free to reach out anytime even if you just want a place to say whatever it is that’s on your mind without any bullshit input. I will gladly be the proverbial attentive head-nodder across the table from you.
This wasn’t originally meant to go into such lengthy detail but se la vie. Now that that’s out there to marinate, I’m gonna go binge watch marvel movies to help forget about the real world.

Word count: 1.5k
Warnings: swearing, mentions of sex, Kind Ransom, I don’t thing there’s any others but if there is let me know!
A/N: I’m really proud of this and it isn’t really something I’ve ever done before so I’m quite nervous but excited to show you, I got this idea off of @stargazingfangirl18 and thanks to @canadianhufflepuffavenger for helping me with this and plenty other of my works, hope you enjoy!
Thrombey AU headcanon
It was hard being a Thrombey
Especially since you were the younger sister of Ransom Drysdale, Andy Thrombey and Steve Thrombey
They were easily your favourite relatives, all at number 1 because of the simple fact they were triplets
You were an angel to your parents, but when it came to your brothers, it was a battle on who could insult each other the most
Ransom would never hold back
Andy was always doing it secretly: whether that be writing stupid insults on a napkin at dinner or whispering it to you when your parents weren’t looking
Stevie just didn’t want to hurt his younger sister's feelings: although he had no problem being the one that started the biggest fist fights between his triplets.
“Brat” was always Ransoms go to
But technically he had a point
Whenever you didn’t get your way all you had to do was pull out the puppy dog eyes and no one could ever say no
How could they?
Since you were the youngest in the family it was an expectation to be adorable
So, you used that to your advantage
One day at the Thrombey mansion a visitor arrived
It was safe to say they were a stuck up rich couple
Your parents had invited the family to a dinner with them and their son.
Older than you, but he acted like a two year old with the way he started crying when he got told he couldn’t get his 6th TV
When the couple asked about you and whether you would be able to visit their mansion to have a “play date ” with their son, all you had to do was act innocent
Slipping your hand into your brother Andys, who was sat next to you, both eyes started to tear up
Inside your head was just providing commentary
“I would rather chew off my own foot”
It was a surprise that those acting lessons that your grandfather bought you a couple years ago started to pay off
Everyone instantly started worrying
“Oh what’s wrong?!”
“Are you okay?”
“What happened?”
Including your brother Andy who held you, basically on his lap and rubbed your back
Even in the midst of all the questioning you kept a straight face
But in the corner of your eye you could have sworn you saw Ransom smirk at you
Eventually Steve figured out what was “wrong” from his spot across the table
“Do you not want to go?”
The triplets were horrors with each other, it didn’t even matter if your parents were around
Hair pulling was common
So was tackling
But most of all, it was arguing over who you loved best
“I’m her favourite!”
“No way Andy, I’m the obvious answer”
“Shut up Ransom, she likes me best!”
“No way Steve!”
But you always said to each of them you loved them the most
Separately of course
Even at the dinner table they argued
It didn’t matter where it was, or what it was about
Just as long as the three of them had different opinions it was always gonna escalate to yelling and more often than not, punching
They all each had special things that you’d do together
It was normal for you to hang out in Steve’s room most often since it was the calmest, although sometimes you left the room so he could talk to his boyfriend, Bucky Barnes, in private
Both Andy and you had movie binges, mostly horror and you hid in his arms but he wasn’t complaining
Ransom would say this was a lie anytime he got confronted but, you and him listened to audiobooks while he cuddled you. (Fun fact: Ransom is a big hugger whether or not he admits it)
As you all got older and the got into their late 20’s and still lived in the house, you moved into the end of primary school things started to change
They decided that they no longer wanted to live in the wreck they called their home and moved out and on with their separate lives
No longer were you in a house full of noise where your brothers were yelling about stupid stuff and running into your rooms at random moments and chatting with you for no reason
It was as though they had disappeared off of the face of the earth
And you were alone
For the longest time you wondered whether they had forgotten about you
Until one day your brother Ransom, pulled up outside the mansion in his beemer and sunglasses equipt
It was easily one of the biggest hugs you’ve ever given him
And you were pretty sure you saw him tear up after it but he just denied it immediately
So he took you to his house and broke the news to you that you now were living with him permanently not that you were complaining
You also found out Andy had got himself a job as an assistant district attorney
Which you had no idea what that meant, and Ransom didn’t either
And Steve has got himself a Job at Stark Industries where, coincidentally his childhood “friend” worked there as head
You were pretty sure he’d shagged him to get the job but…
And so then immediately Andy and Steve said they wanted to see you
Which you accepted, even though you were still a little salty they hadn’t been in contact with you for like 4 years
Steve may or may not have started crying to which your other two brothers rolled their eyes
Probably thinking “how am I related to this?”
The food was good at the takeout
Andy apologised for not coming to get you long before Ransom did
And you also found out he had a new born kid called Jacob
But you refused to be called aunt. It just sounded weird.
“So you're staying with Ransom?”
“Yep, if he’ll shut his gob”
He just rolled his eyes at you
“I forgot how fucking annoying you were”
After that Ransom picked up a new iPhone for you with one of his “many stacks of cash” as he put it, so you could keep in touch with your other brothers
And to call sos on them when you heard “sounds” coming from across the hall where his bedroom was
When you were in the middle of high school you went to live with Andy for awhile to give Ransom a breather from having a teenager in his house 24/7
You became quite good friends with the toddler despite the prominent age gap and you were even the person he came to when Jacob had nightmares
Something Andy took a photo of when he went to wake you up one morning when he found the two of you curled up on your bed
It was blackmail, so whenever you stole one of his T-shirt’s and added it to the pile of Ransoms sweaters you’d stole from him, sometimes you’d have to give it back so he didn’t send the picture to his brother
Only sometimes though
The boy still had pity in him
So then on a Friday night when you were watching a movie you suddenly got a text from your other brother, Steve
Apparently he was getting married?!
And guess to who?
Bucky fucking Barnes
Who would’ve thought.
Talk about childhood sweethearts
Andy was very proud of his brother for getting married and gave him advice for what to do and not what not to do
But Ransom though, he was pissed
Now he was gonna have to go to a wedding. A wedding.
You honestly couldn’t care less though, quite happy for my brother
Ransom was also surprised he was gay but we’ll just egnore him
The food was very nice there
You were even a bridesmaid, which you had objected to at first but Steve said you had to do it or else he wouldn’t even get married at all
Peer pressure that was.
Ransom hated everyone there
Apart from you of course
His own words, not yours
Everything went surprisingly well, your brother and Bucky both got their speech perfect and no one forgot any thing
After the ceremony and meal Steve decided he wanted to go out for takeout before the honeymoon with the four of you (that being his boyfriend husband, you, Ransom & Andy)
You sat across from the newly wedded couple and you and your brothers on the other side
Steve asked you where you’re gonna stay now
Ransom was quick to offer up his place
“It’s no big deal, she can stay me”
Andy just smirked
“What’re you bloody smirking about An’?”
he just denied it
“It’s really a pleasure to meet you (Y/N)”
Bucky told you, now directing his attention to you since you’d both not talked nearly the whole day
“Aren’t you like… my brother in law now?”
“Yeah, I am, only if you’d be willing to be my sister in law”
He was really quite nice
Ransom wasn’t so accepting though
Andy and Steve just told him to shut the fuck up
And that led to the three of them bickering the whole way home and occasionally a few hits, while you and Bucky just walked behind them shaking your heads
Brothers really never change
You would know

tag game #1 - Q&A
Rules: if you’re tagged, answer the questions and then add 10 of your own!
tagged by the amazing @elite-polos, thank you so much!
tagging: @here-goes-nada @darrenschyleigh @evansdiaz @killeroftrains @blaineandsamevanderson @itwoodbeprefect @hotchocolateandpillowforts and anyone bored out of their minds in quarantine.
This is a long one, so I put it under a cut. But it was soooo fun, and I definitely didn’t do this at work instead of actually working 🙈
1. What was the last movie you watched in theatres? Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (anyone who calls it Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey is weak and natural selection will come for you)
2. What’s your favourite game to play? most of the time I download a game, play it for an hour, then get bored and delete it. the only game I can play for longer is a wall-breaker game. I freaking love them, always have.
3. Chocolate or vanilla? depends. in food chocolate, but in smell vanilla
4. What’s the last show you binge-watched? huh… the last show I binged, in past tense, was Elite s3. the last show I binged in full was… I think Elementary? also, I’m currently binging New Amsterdam, Once Upon A Time, Ugly Betty (with my mom), (kinda) Schitt’s Creek, I’m halways through rewatch-binging Revenge and Prodigal Son, and I started but haven’t finished yet the Marvel Netflix shows and Money Heist. yeah, I can never watch just one show…
5. Do you have any pets? 3 cats, but who owns who is up for debate…
6. What’s your favourite fairy tale? the best fairy tale I’ve ever heard will forever be one crazy story my dad made up on the go one time when he tried to put us to sleep. the princess saved herself, obviously.
7. Who’s your favourite superhero? I like a lot, but no favourite. as a kid I loved the Spider-man and X-men animated series.
8. Who’s you favourite Disney Princess? Elizabeth Swan. though she’s technically a king.
9. Where’s the first place you’re going to go after the social distancing is over? nowhere. our country is not in quarantine because our PM is an idiot, and even if it were, due to my job I would have to go to work anyway. also, I’m an introvert, so I don’t really go out anyway and I don’t miss people or places. in fact, barely any people on the streets is a blessing for me.
10. Cookies or Cake? cookies. I don’t like cakes. too sweet.
+ 10 questions
1. which show could you watch over and over?  good question. never really was a fan of any show that much. but if movies are game, I can watch The Mummy and The Mummy Returns anytime.
2. favourite song lyric? there’s a lot, but the ones that come to mind rn are “back away from the water, babe, you might drown” from Miss Jackson by p!atd. idk why I love it so much. also, I thought a lot about “It doesn’t seem the human race will make it through the year” from Trigger Happy Hands by Placebo. that whole song is 2020 mood.
3. favourite season of your favourite tv show? maybe s3 of Revenge? idk, I don’t really have a favourite tv show.
4. what never fails to make you smile/happy? my cats
5. how are you doing with all that’s going on in the world (virus, having to do social distancing, etc)? bad. the constant negative news took a toll on my mental health, and having to go to work when most of the world stops doesn’t make things better.
6. we all love new music to listen to, name an artist that is underrated/you think people should check out? Placebo for sure. Trigger Happy Hands like I mentioned is serious mood right now, and they are just simply amazing. also, Mike Shinoda’s solo stuff is great, his album Post Traumatic deals with grief, which I don’t hear often, so it’s great.
7. tv show or movie? tv show for sure. I can’t make myself watch movies, but I’ll happily watch a whole season in one sitting.
8. favourite holiday? none. not a fan of holidays.
9. a song that describes you? Leave Out All The Rest by Linkin Park. I wouldn’t say it describes me, but if you associate one song with me, I’d like this one to be it.
10. describe your tumblr in three words? Huge Giant Mess
10 more questions!
1. Favourite book? I haven’t read them in a long time, but the Shiver series by Maggie Stiefvater.
2. Favourite candy? I don’t like candies. I prefer chocolate or home-made cookies when it comes to sweets.
3. How many siblings do you have? 1, but she feels a lot more
4. What’s your zodiac sign? Taurus
5. Where in the world would you most like to travel? back to London again, I miss it. for a new place, maybe somewhere in South America.
6. Do you speak any other languages? Hungarian, my first language. also a little German.
7. Something you wish more people knew about you? idk, I’m fine with people not knowing me.
8. Describe your style/look in three words? simple, comfortable, variable.
9. Favourite weather? spring. like April 23rd, when it’s not too hot or not too cold, and all you need is a light jacket.
10. Most-used emoji? probably the laugh-crying emoji, but only because most of the time that’s the only thing I can write back to my sister without starting a fight
+ my 10 questions:
1. First OTP you had and how do you feel about them now?
2. Favourite (or most tolerable) Disney movie remake?
3. What is your phone case like?
4. Favourite food to cook/bake?
5. If you could save/bring back one cancelled tv show, which would it be?
6. Which book would you like to see as a tv adaption? (even if it already has a movie adaption)
7. Most hated chore?
8. What is your guilty pleasure trashy tv show or movie that you always watch but don’t talk about?
9. One song that you love, but hate the artist?
10. One movie (or tv show episode) that always makes you cry?

TAGGED!
Tagged by @emo-vulcan
Name: Morgan. Just a good solid name right there.
Birthday: March 3rd. That’s 3/3 for you Americans and 3/3 for you British people.
Zodiac sign: Pisces. Also a Tiger (Earth tiger I think) in Chinese zodiac.
Height: I am legally 5′4″ but medically I am 5′31/2″. I looked sad when my doctor measured me a few years ago so she rounded up.
Hobbies: WRITING. If I’m not writing I feel the guilt of not writing as writers should always be writing and doing nothing else. When I’m in my guilty times I’m reading, binge-watching netflix/hulu way more than I’m reading, and making Youtube videos on my channel!
Favorite color: Black. Dark like my soul. And space. Space is so cool.
Favorite book: Sherlock Holmes - all novels and short stories. Harry Potter, especially The Half Blood Prince, but I think the book I’ve read on repeat is Jane Eyre. I also love recent comic books like Star Trek: New Adventures, Loki, The Umbrella Academy, Deadpool, and the Deadpool-Spider-man crossover comics!
Last song I heard: ...”I Don’t Love You” by My Chemical Romance........
Last film I watched: Uhh.... I play movies and TV shows for background noise so last movie I “watched” was Apollo 18. The last movie I actually focused on was either Saw or Zombieland: Double Tap.
Dream job: Director/screenwriter. It’s time for girls to infiltrate media, and I want to be one of them to help create a better, happier, well-informed, and entertained world. :D
Meaning behind the URL: My first URL was “no-hugs-not-ever” because I hate hugs. I changed it after a couple thousand people liked my marvel jokes to make them easier to find. So Incorrect Marvel Kids is just for ease.
I’m really bad at tagging cuz it makes me feel like I’m annoying people but I tag: @annoyedbritishperson and @thebiggestnaturaldisaster and @wanna-bee-artsy cuz I always tag you guys and you can tell me to stop anytime. Also @punkspockispunkrock cuz I love their blog. And art. And everything. XD And everyone who sees this and thinks it could be fun, you’re tagged as well.

AoS is coming to an end
Sure, we’ve all known for a few weeks, but I’ve really been reflecting on what this means for me.
I started AoS during the hiatus between season 3 and 4. I was immediately hooked and binged the first 3 seasons twice within a week. Watched season 4 as it aired on ABC while becoming increasingly obsessed and starting to read fanfic.
Fast forward to the end of season 4, I’m a die hard fan and now Philinda shipper. I join tumblr mainly for AoS content, join a Philinda whatapp chat, and try my hand at writing fanfic. (Spoiler, I wrote a 40k+ word fic for my very first one. 😳) I’m still shipping Philinda like crazy, and have never been such a die hard fan of any show as I am with this.
I know this story is probably similar to what so many of you feel, but I might as well write it anyway. Agents of Shield taught me so much about myself and gave me so much to consider. Melinda May has inspired me to be tougher and taught me that listening is as important as speaking. Phil Coulson taught me the importance of having a right hand person you can count on. Daisy Johnson taught me it’s important to embrace change. And the show as a whole taught me the importance of the found family and to love and trust those closest to me, and so so much more.
As a 24 year old, the show drew me in with all the excitement of the Marvel movies I had just discovered (and plus it had Ming-Na so how could I pass it up?). But the show has taught me something new each time I’ve gone through it. Now, as I’m 27 and about to be 28, I’m curious what the show still has in store for us and what this amazing show and the show runners will end with. I’ve been far too emotional today about this ending. I’m not sure how to feel. I’m thrilled it’s ending without being canceled so the show runners and writers will be able to give us and the characters the ending they will deserve, but I’m so sad that it is coming to an end.
For the last 3 years this show has literally been the center of my life. When I moved 3 hours away from my family, I turned to AoS to remind me of binging it with my mom. When my dog died unexpectedly, I turned to AoS as a distraction. When I’ve been happy- I watch AoS. When I need to cry- I watch AoS. Really any emotion or anytime will work for me to watch AoS and I think I’m ready for the emotional roller coaster that has been hinted that season 7 will be.

1. Do you have a nice yard? If so, do you spend a lot of time outside in it? If not, where do you go when you want to relax outdoors on nice days? We have a decent size backyard, but I never go back there. I’m not an outdoorsy person, I much prefer to be indoors. I don’t relax outdoors unless I’m at the beach. 2. Is there a group of friends that you used to hang out with but no longer do? Why don’t you hang out anymore and how do you feel about them now? I don’t have any friends anymore and that’s completely my fault. I became very distant and withdrawn and just disappeared essentially from everyone. It wasn’t anything they did, I just fell into a bad place and I haven’t been able to get out. I’m such a shitty person for completely abandoning them the way I did. 3. Do your parents enjoy any of the things that you enjoy? Do you bond over these things? My mom and I have a lot of shows we like to watch together, we like a lot of the same music and movies, we both love to read, and we both follow entertainment/celebrity gossip. 4. Did you ever say or ask something that you assumed was a neutral subject, but the person you were talking to became offended and you had no idea why? Not that I can recall. 5. What is the movie that you have waited the longest for/which film do you remember anticipating the most/are still anticipating? There’s been several movies like that. Like for example, I always look forward to new Marvel, DC, and Star Wars movies.
6. Do you have any ideas for a story or movie you’re planning to write or you’d write if you got the time/had the talent? Please share a synopsis! Nope. 7. Do you ever feel like anyone is “out of your league” or does that concept not make any sense to you? What do you do when you’re attracted to someone but find them out of your league? I always get it mixed when it comes to that saying. Like, to me it means that I’m ugly and have no chance with anyone I’m interested in. Does that mean I’m out of their league or they’re out of mine? 8. What is something that an interested guy/girl could comment about you, that would make you instantly open to them (e.g., “That book you’re reading is from my favorite author”)? Hmm. I don’t know. 9. Do you refer to yourself by any sort of fan nickname (Belieber, Little Monster, etc.)? Lol no. I’m old. 10. Do you ever just get lazy and give up on your friendships? I didn’t do it out of laziness. It happened because I’m a mess of a person and I just couldn’t handle or put in the energy into any friendships. I couldn’t even take care of myself. I didn’t give up on them, I gave up on myself. 11. Is there a person in your life (maybe barely) that you feel in constant competition with (even just in your imagination)? Maybe you feel they are consistently outshining you. I had a friend who I felt made things into a competition and tried to one up me in the sense of who had it worse. Like, if I actually opened up about something and expressed how I was feeling, she’d spin it back on her somehow and her problems were always worse of course. One time she even said to me, “what do you even have to be depressed about?” and proceeded to go on about all the problems she has. 12. If you are single, even if you are normally happily single, are there certain specific things you witness that make you wish you were in a relationship (e.g., people getting engaged)? I mean, I’d like to experience love and romance and have someone to experience life with. I want that special someone. I want to do couple-y things. I want someone to get takeout and binge watch TV shows with, someone to drink my morning coffee with, someone to grow with, someone to travel with. I want all that someday. It’s hard for me to even imagine it ever happening, though. I’m almost 30 years old and haven’t found it, yet. I don’t see anything changing anytime soon, either. 13. What sort of situations make you feel most self-conscious or inadequate? Are there any people or places that just make you want to crawl into a hole? If you can’t think of anything specific, can you remember the last time (or any time) you felt this way? I feel extremely self-conscious and inadequate all the time. 14. Out of all your usernames for websites, which one is your favorite? Do you use it for more than one site? I’d rather not say what it is. 15. Are there any cities near you that you’re afraid to go to because of the crime rate or its other bad reputations? I city I live in has a high crime rate and bad reputation. :/ We’ve wanted to move for a long time, but we haven’t financially been able to do so. We really want to try and do so soon, though. 16. If you went to camp as a kid, was it a pleasant experience? Do you think that all kids should be able to go to camp? If you didn’t go to camp, do you feel like you kind of missed out on something? My 6th grade class went to science camp, which was a thing a lot of 6th grade classes did at various schools in my state at least. I don’t know if that’s a thing anywhere else. Anyway, it was actually pretty fun. We we were there for a week and were out in the woods doing nature-y things and learning about that kind of stuff, but they made it interesting and fun. We went to the beach one day, too, which was really fun. We had bonfires at night and sang songs. We did fun things with our cabin mates and cabin leaders. It was cool. I also went to a Girl Scout camp for a week, which was really fun. We put on skits with our groups and did a lot of other fun activities. 17. Do you grandparents ever judge you or stick their heads in your business? If not, is there someone else in your life you dread seeing because of their unwanted input? I love my grandparents, and I know my Nana just loves and cares about me and is concerned for my wellbeing, but yes I do feel judged sometimes. There’s things she doesn’t understand. 18. Have you ever spent the whole day (or multiple days) just looking up one thing on the internet (e.g., videos of your favorite band, how-to videos, quizzes, etc.)? Probably when I was younger. 19. Would you ever go on a media fast (i.e., avoiding tv, movies, the internet, and magazines for a certain amount of time, in an attempt to become aware of how media makes you feel)? Do you think that sort of thing would benefit you? Nah. That would be incredibly boring, ha. 20. Are you happy with where you currently live? If not, what don’t you like about the area and do you plan on leaving? No. I already explained why. 21. If someone told you that we live in a society that hates women, how would you respond? Okay. We live in a society that hates everything. <–TRUTH. <<< Honestly, though. 22. When was the last time you were on a boat? Whose boat was it, and what were you doing? Like 2008/2009. It was a boat that took us across to an island where we were toured Alcatraz in San Francisco. 23. Have you ever been completely blindsided by a break-up or have you sort of felt all of your relationships deteriorating before they ended? If you would prefer not to answer, what is the last instance you can remember being totally blindsided by news you heard? I mean, it shouldn’t have come as a big surprise. He didn’t want to commit and it he didn’t feel the same way I did about him. He completely played and used me, and the worst part is I let him. Then one day he decided he was done with me and it all stopped. There were times things were good and times things were bad and we were on and off, but when it finally ended for good I didn’t know it would really be over. Even though it should have been blatantly clear it was coming. What I was completely blindsided by; though, was when Ty just deleted Facebook and Instagram and fell off the grid. I haven’t heard from him in 3 years. I have no idea what happened to him or what he’s doing and I have no way of finding out. 24. Can you remember the last thing you thought and subsequently thought, “wow, I really shouldn’t be thinking that”? Hmm. Not at the moment. 25. If you ever think about getting married, what are some aspects of the wedding that you would like to see in a non-traditional manner (e.g., a different color dress or “partners” over “husband” and “wife”)? I don’t think about getting married. I don’t plan on ever getting married.

Random comments below from me with the full list (updated 3/11/19):
Best Picture:
“Black Panther” - JT: Fun but sometimes get bored by marvel-type movies
“BlacKkKlansman” - JT: Sam says problematic FBI wrong doings, we liked it
“Bohemian Rhapsody” - JT: well done. Debbie has seen this at least 3 times!
“The Favourite” - JT: I liked it but a bit dark for me
“Green Book” - winner. JT: entertaining, but bit dated, formulaic. Lots of criticism out there on this choice.
“Roma” - JT: great
“A Star Is Born” - JT: I want to see this. There’s an “encore” version playing in NY for one week w/20 extra minutes..
3/11/19 update: we saw the “Encore” this weekend. 12 extra minutes...I loved it and thought Bradley Cooper did a great job and what a good singer! Lady Gaga was amazing, what a good actress! Very sweet, romantic, believable (except for two glaring moments to me: one when they first met and two, when they first sing together). Otherwise, now I want to get to know the soundtrack and see the other versions (Streisand, Judy Garland, Mitzi Gaynor). I just bought “American Sniper” with Bradley Cooper on Google Play for $3.99...

Christian Bale, “Vice”
Bradley Cooper, “A Star Is Born”
Willem Dafoe, “At Eternity’s Gate”

And for you who are looking for some really previous movies which you cannot discover at your closest movie keep, many websites let customers to add the movies.
One of the different good reasons for having seeing movie on the web is you are able to watch uncensored variation of a particular film that you were searching for, and that basically draws more people. The movie seeing habits of men and women are adjusting even as we get busier with your lives.
On demand is becoming the status quo and with breakthroughs in net technology and movie streaming volumes now is the time to partake in this marvellous revolutionary activity value.
Did you know that many people hunt for a free movie online, Persons belonging to a registration support such as for instance Netflix have probably previously liked the movie online via their pc or some other product?
It just doesn't seem sensible any more to keep exploring for a totally free film to view online when for less than.30 cents per day you could contribute to something that offers you access 24/7 with infinite watching favours to movies and TV attacks plus still having a DVD film published to your home without the late expenses or penalties actually involved.
But people none the less wish to know how to view shows online but with a registration support you can view on line utilizing your web ready system or sport console. Some of these things include game units, TVs, Blu-ray people and more.
The record companies did not discover this exercise to be helpful or over the law so that they ended the service. Well, that same notion of ending people from discussing their films online was ended also.
The problem was that film and audio companies were not getting their share of the money. They certainly were unable to come quickly to the table and get their piece of the pie. But how was that any different from the occasions when I really could record my local DJ combine and dub it and pass it on to my friends in the 80's. At that time no one complained about audio swapping by hand. As well as dubbing shows and giving it to someone else. Number income swapped. So, what's the problem???
Properly, aside from that it appears that some really innovative businesses have determined ways to produce the history and movie companies happy and also line their pockets with money. Companies like iTunes and Amazon.com are now a number of the leaders of on the web film download. Equally solutions cost a price for individuals to get either a film, audio or perhaps a TV episode. A portion of the income goes to the company that owns the film or show. But a portion of the amount of money would go to the circulating company.
These solutions have now been a lord delivered blessing to most persons that want to see a video your day they comes out, and never having to visit the neighborhood Walmart to buy the DVD. They've managed to get simple to just choose the film on the web, save it on my local pc and view it whenever I fill fit. This makes it simple to watch the movie on the web on a pc, on a ipod or import it to a tool like a xbox and watch it on a TV.
But let's say that you never want to buy the movie. Perhaps it is not worth the full purchase price. Well, iTunes and Amazon however have you covered. You can lease the movie and then you definitely could have a month to watch the movie after inside a 24 hour period when you start watching the movie. This is ample time for you to view the movie numerous times.

The (not so) blind date. Part 2.
So, this is my first fanfic :) I needed to post the 2nd part because i’m so excited with this y’all. Thank you very much for the reblogs and likes! It really warms my heart. <3 (After this im going to sleep cause I’m completely wrecked)
So, here we have a Sebs’s point of view chapter!
I hope that everyone enjoy this. <3
Ps: English is not my first language, so, if you have any corrections about the grammar, or the coherence pretty please send them to me. <3
Pairing: Sebastian Stan x Reader
Summary: Your, and Sebastian’s, love life is going down. Your friends are doing an impressive hard job to help you both keep going. Little did they knew that they were handling your faith with their own hands.
Words: 1.116
PART 1
Sunday afternoon. (Sebastian POV)
It’s been a while since he dated anyone. Almost half a year since the bunch of dates Anthony arranged him for. Every one of them went to hell, he had from gold diggers whit a particular interest on his money and his fame, to crazy ladies that just weren’t his type. So, of course, when his friend told him about a certain blind date that he might could have already arranged, his reaction was pretty much negative.
“No.”
“C’mon man! Just once in your life, listen to your magnifiscent friend… Th-that’s me by the way”
“Sorry Mackie, i’ve listened to you pretty much the last one hundred times, and every one of your little list of yours end up being a catastrophe, so i’m done listening to you” Sebastian said, with an angrily tone.
“Hey don’t get mad at me, it’s not my fault that these woman were non compos mentis... Look Stan, i’ve spent the last THREE FUCKING MONTHS looking for this cupid guy. “
“Who the hell is he tho?” Sebastian asked curiosly.
“I don’t know really, some say that he is the most reliable matchmaker in New York.”
“And how did you got his number?”
“I might have mentioned to Rudd’s assistant that you were, well, pretty lonely and he told me about a guy, who met the matchmaker in a gay bar on Singapour; this cupid guy knew this other guy who was in his honey- Wait.” Anthony stopped realising what his friend was not on purposely doing. “don’t make me dodge the subject Sebastian you’re going to this date” Sebastian rolled his eyes so much that could’ve rolled out of his head.
“Wait you arranged me with a guy?” he suddenly felt dizzed for all the – too much – information. He was lost. “I’m not dodging anything tho, you tangled your mind all by yourself buddy”
“No you moron!” Mackie yelled at his friend through his phone
“Sorry my head is a mess right now. I didn’t understand a single thing”
“Well it doesn’t matter now!” Anthony was so done. “the thing is, this match-cupid-maker guy found this girl who’s currently living in New York. And she is happy to have a blind date with you.” Sebastian could hear his friend gasping for air.
“Okay, it’s fine, You know what? I’m so done with this conversation that i’m going to give in and met this woman, just so you can be out of my ass for at least a week” He said, really tired of the subject.
“That’s awesome Stan. That’s wonderful. You don’t know how glad I am to hear that.” Mackie said with an excited tone in his voice
“Yeah yeah” he said, nonchalant.
“I swear to you, my friend, that if this doesn’t go well i’m not bothering you again. BUT i have a feeling that this girl’s gonna steal your heart”
“Oh god I hope you’re right.” Anxiety starting to crawl upon Sebastian’s gut.
“In no time you will be hearing a big ‘I TOLD YOU SO’ from me. Don’t worry”
“Bye Mackie” He ended the call after his friend said goodbye.
‘Oh this is a bad idea’ Sebastian thought to himself. His anxiety growing stronger every time he thought about it. But the true was that Mackie was right. Sebastian was feeling very lonely. Not that he didn’t had love in his life. His family, his friends and his fans… they always supported him no matter what. But the need he was feeling was for something else entirely. Another kind of love. He needed someone to come home to.
His Sunday went on pretty much like always, boring. Trying to avoid the little voice in his head telling him that the date was going to suck, Sebastian looked for some entertainment, that is to say, he spent the rest of the day binge watching Marvel’s movies. Thor’s to be exact.
Monday morning arrived. Sebastian went to Don’s gym around 10 am, worked out a little bit, to clear his mind and hang with his gym buddies. After that he went to the nearest restaurant to get some lunch. As he was waiting for his order, his mind couldn’t stop thinking about all the ways the date could go wrong. That was his anxiety working. He didn’t knew why, it just happen from time to time. One day he was feeling the most confident guy in the world but then his worries about life came fearcefully, kicking him in the nuts. But he knew he had to do it. He knew he had to meet you. At the same time he wandered if you truly wanted to date him, because lets face it, dating a celebrity, dating him, is hard work. And he wasn’t sure if you could handle it. Not only you but every one for that matter. He was so deep in his thoughts that he didn’t notice the blonde barista talking to him.
“You okay down there?” She asked putting down Sebastian’s order in his table.
“Yes, i’m sorry, I was far down in my thoughts”
“I see” she said, sitting on the chair in front of him “so what’s on your mind?”
Sebastian doubted a little about telling this stranger lady his heart acking problems, but something on her face told him that she might have the right word for him to hear “well, i’m having a hard time finding some conviction about something. Y-know, I- I have this date, this blind date to be accurate, and my head keeps spining about going or not. I really don’t know what to do. I – I’m sorry…. Lorna..” Sebastian said looking at her badge “am I saying too much? You shouldn’t care… I´m sorry”
The barista looked at him with a tiny grin on her face. “Don’t worry, it’s not a problem, we actualy are non-titled psicoanalysts” she joked “…sometimes is hard to take on actions… but once you let yourself out of your house it’s easier somehow… just, don’t worry about it too much, i’m sure a good looking face like yours won’t get stood up” Sebastian giggled at Lorna’s subtle flirt.
“Thanks Lorna.” He said with a genuine smile on his face
“Your welcome sir, anytime” she smiled back and left.
The waitress’s words sounded so true in his head, and gave him the confidence boost he needed. The next thing he does is grabb his phone and send a text to Mackie.
“Hey Mack, contact your cupid guy and ask him if she can meet me at Carmine’s Italian, Friday at 8. 😉”
Anthony’s response got to his phone in no time.
“My maaaaan, you wont regret it. 😉”
The End <3

Worldbuilding and the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Last September, I embarked on a mission that somehow didn’t seem as ambitious as it actually was once I started. I decided to watch the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe -- including the television shows. I wanted to watch in the chronological order of the universe, meaning not the order the movies came out in our world, but in the order of events that take place in the universe. I’d done MCU marathons before, but never like this. The main reason I did this is because I love worldbuilding. While I went into it knowing some of the early movies are rough (hello Incredible Hulk where it rains every time they want us to feel emotional), I went into it more interested in the way Marvel built a world for the screen in a way that encompasses so many movies and television shows.
Setting up was fairly easy. I randomly expressed an interest in doing this watch and pretty quickly after, I was sent a very detailed list outlining the correct order (shout out to Amani Herron). I chose to live tweet it (which I wouldn’t do again because live tweeting makes it hard for me to focus and the thread became ridiculous). I started with Captain America: The First Avenger and decided to end with season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., since the newest season would be starting soon and I didn’t want to fall behind. Because Marvel never stops putting out content, I ended up skipping more recent series at the time (The Punisher and Inhumans), but by some stroke of luck I was able to include Thor: Ragnarok at the right moment.
Though it forced me watch Iron Fist, doing a complete viewing helped me understand all of the moving pieces, meet and learn about different aspects of the universe and its characters, and really get to see how planned and fleshed out the world is. Having to switch so frequently between different stories, most notably Daredevil Season 2 and Luke Cage season 1 because they happen around the same time, could sometimes be jarring because of the different tonal shifts. It also quickly began to feel like an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. binge but with breaks for the movies and Netflix shows, because at that point they were 88 episodes in. This wasn’t a problem for me, not least of which because I do a S.H.I.E.L.D. binge before a new season drops anyway, but also because seeing how one story, or multiple, fed into another was amazing, and especially paid off in time for Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.
One of the fun things about doing a chronological binge is picking up on the easter eggs and small worldbuilding moments that bring all of the properties together. Even obvious moments like mentioning Stephen Strange in Captain America: The Winter Soldier long before he gets his own movie, or attributing the evacuation hellicarriers from the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron to Phil Coulson at S.H.I.E.L.D. tie the world together in a way that doesn’t feel forced but also provides other points of entry for people who are interested in the stories but may feel intimidated about diving head first into the world. Watching them so close together also helped me catch small things that I’d somehow missed, especially on S.H.I.E.L.D., which is really good at using tech introduced in other properties to connect themselves to the current events while continuing with their own stories. Moments like the Centipede organization using the explosive serum from Iron Man 3 to create super soldiers or the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. being attacked by the Judas bullets introduced in Luke Cage really work to make the world feel smaller even as our heroes are putting out a thousand separate fires at the same time.
Having watched all 18 films and 179 (at the time) television episodes, the hot takes about Infinity War relying on previous stories while setting up the next Avengers film got on my nerves. Infinity War has always been marketed as part 1 of a sequel to the 18 other movies. However, while I do think there are certain stories you need to see to understand what’s happening, I don’t think you have to watch every single property to be a fan of the MCU or to even understand the Avengers movies. I do think you should come prepared in some way; there are interviews and recaps on YouTube and all over the internet to help you understand what’s going on, and which are way less time consuming than watching almost ten days worth of television and movies. And, of course, some of the movies and TV are just not good and you shouldn’t have to subject yourself to them if you already know better. I do think it’s essential FOR ME because of the commitment I’ve put in to see this universe through, and because I love the worldbuilding at this magnitude. While it means that I will eventually watch Inhumans and season 2 of Jessica Jones, suffer through bland romances, and the movies pretending the TV shows don’t exist, I still feel like I get something out of it. I’ve already decided I’m going to do another chronological rewatch in the future, though not anytime soon and definitely not on Twitter.
Have you watched every single movie and TV episode of the current MCU? If so, what was your experience? If not, what percentage are you at and will you give watching them all a try? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter at @weblackandnerds.

Shall no one mourn the death of Seeso?
Oh Seeso. It was not so long ago that you graced our internet screens with comedy, and more comedy, and some drama. You laughed every once in a while while watching it.
Oh and then you tragically fell. The first casualty in this upcoming war approaches us. Oh! Yet no one mourned you. No one wrote long epitaphs in your honor. Well, if no one dares to do such a thing. I will fulfill that role for you Seeso. Oh you were gone too soon. A great streaming service, well a great library but we'll get to that.
Seeso, as many of you aren't totally aware of, was comedy streaming project by NBC. Given its support, it was what should have been (and this is how the story is supposed to end), the ragged upstarts breakthrough and redefine the entire generation. But it did not happen. Well, it has happened, but it did not happen in such a beautiful dramatic way, terrifying way as certainly we all hoped.
It was lead of course, by the podcasters. It was supposed to be the podcasters. Big reveal into the regular world. Of course all that stuff has been slowly seeping through. The podcasting world never got a chance to shine with its more rigorous talent. Nowhere was this more apparent than with bagillion dollar properties. Oh poor, poor sweet bajillion dollar properties. What a fallen gem you were. You were placed the Reno 911 sized hole in my heart like so few others could.
Any show that gives Paul f Tompkins a home deserves an ever-loving respect. That man is a national treasure. His mustache should be placed in the Smithsonian. His opinions on the Big Lebowski are totally off-base, but that's okay because that's his truth.
Then of course there was Harmon Quest, a great show. A fun concept based on a very popular segment of Dan Harmon's podcast, and the list goes on and on. Great comedic shows, excellent casts, perfect timing. Why oh why did this service fail? There was no reason except several very good reasons why it didn't work.
Remember when I mentioned before that it was a great library and not a great streaming service? Well this is the part that comes to. The reasons why Seeso failed as a streemong service. The first one should be obvious: it was another freaking streaming service. So the streaming history is, of course, becoming overwrought. There is too many. The market is flooded and streaming service are a lot like MMOs in that people do not really leave the one they put the most effort into.
See, it wasn't supposed to be this way. It wasn't supposed to be this way. Streaming was supposed to cheapen everything, free us from lengthy cable contracts. But I'm telling you those contracts will come back pretty soon. Shows are getting segmented, the marvel movies will be on the Disney streaming app. CBS has its own thing. Netflix will have exclusive shows. Hulu will have exclusive shows. HBO will now have exclusive shows. Amazon will have exclusive shows. I'm telling you, its coming man, its coming. There will be a company soon that packages all this crap together. There are simply too many and too few amount of money for everybody to pay for it.
There is another reason, a very practical reason. Say if you had already paid for it, like I did happily and wonderfully. I was enjoy for the 25% of the time, because the other 75%, the freaking thing didn't really work. There was always connection issues; there was always trouble.
Then the other issue - and this one is kind of a fault in design. This idea didn't work and I don't know why they did this. It was a bad, not really good well-thought out thing, is that I don't think they understood the streaming game, man. This felt clear design things of people who were slightly too old to understand or needless innovation. The needless innovation was this: Sees did not support binging. The name of the game in streaming is binging. They would play random stuff. That didn't really work. That was needless innovation for needless innovation's sake. It was difficult to operate.
So those are the fundamental reasons, probably, why it didn't work.
The other one, and this is the one that scares me. The one that I stay up all night because my favorite streaming service ever also does this. I of course talk about filmstruck. My beloved filmstruck. The one, who if it was personified as a woman, would marry on the spot and/or follow whatever dangerous cult they're plotting. And it's that Sees catered to a small specific group of people.
Now Paul F Tompkins is a genius. I love Carman Esposito and Rhea Butcher as much as any sane, logical, still-alive person can love. But I was wracking my brain recently to think of where they were ... See the thing about streaming, especially streaming exclusive things, is that you kind of need a big name. They don't all have to be big names, but you need one or two big names to be in the thing. And I would bring everybody. You know, it's the old problem of a lot of these people have critical respects or were beloved but Tompkins' of the world aren't mainstream and that sucks and I hate that they aren't. But the only way podcasts can be mainstream is if you talk about serial killers but comedy stuff - the meat and bones of what podcasts do and just not doing it. I don't know why. And they're all really funny. Maybe it's because they're probably an hour long.
Anytime I try to talk people into listening to podcasts ... Its like two hours long. But dude, what do you gotta do for like two hours. It's a commitment and you kind of have to commit to this idea, but you end up enjoying it, lovingly. So maybe Sees was never destined to survive, not with the technical issues I brought up, but maybe it was just a brief shining light in this sad world. Part of me fears that it wasn't the glorious crowning of this great comedy movement. Part of me fears that it was instead the final gasp of it. It's time now. The new generation must be coming up around this point, influenced by podcasters more than anything.
I recently took a class at UCB, and there were a lot of people, including myself, there who were fans of this type of comedy. Seeso might have been the end of the ... maybe a brave new world is upon us. Maybe its Instagram comedians. Or maybe it will great new things. I dunno. The world is new and scary and some of the change is really bad, like super duper bad like "Oh my god why did this happen?" Some of the change is good. Maybe we're all relics now. Maybe it's their turn, whoever they are. But Seeso was there and it was fun for a brief point. And I just think that should be talked about at least once. To be mourned, for walls to be banged against, for chairs to be thrown. Ugh. For somebody to write on their Tumblr "Ugh, all the feels right now." Something. Anything. Don't let this just be a cry in the night, man

The Defenders: Review
****SPOILERS FOR ALL THE NETFLIX/MARVEL SHOWS.****
Not like anyone is really asking for my opinion on the Defenders, but I thought I’d throw this out there for the Tumblrverse, to see if anyone agrees or disagrees with me.
A very long-ass review below the jump.
Some background: I love the Marvel movies. I really enjoyed Daredevil S1 when it first aired, and I loved Jessica Jones so much that I watched all of S1 in a single night. I was kind “meh” toward Daredevil S2. I didn’t really care for the Punisher storyline, and while I really liked Frank’s interactions with Matt/Daredevil, I didn’t like any of the scenes Karen had with Frank. In fact, I didn’t really like Karen at all, especially her ~thing~ with Matt. I’ve never liked them together, and while I understand they are a couple in the comics, I’m not a fan of the pairing. I didn’t really like Elektra or the Hand that much either. I was much more interested in Fisk and his Kingpin Empire in S1. All the mystical stuff really changed the tone and direction of the Daredevil story, and made it feel less grounded in reality, something I thought both JJ and Daredevil S1 did really well. I can buy blind guys who can “see” through their other senses, and weird psychopaths who can control people using pheromones or whatever. But, mystical ninjas who are resurrected and don’t have heartbeats… yeah, no, you lost me.
I started watching Luke Cage, but lost interest after Cottonmouth got killed off. Last episode I watched was Luke falling backward into a trash truck, unconscious, after getting attacked by his brother.
I didn’t have any interest in watching Iron Fist to begin with, but after I read the reviews saying it was mediocre and not as good as the other ones, I REALLY didn’t have any interest.
Basically, for me, the Netflix/Marvel shows had a strong opener with DD S1 and then peaked with JJ, and has been steadily going downhill from there.
So, yesterday I finished watching the Defenders. I had seen the first two episodes about two weeks ago, then was on vacation, and finally got the chance to sit down and finish the show during my Labor Day weekend. I watched the final six episodes in one sitting, which may have lessened my opinion of it. I get that the point of these shows is to binge-watch them, but sometimes I feel like that makes their flaws all the more obvious.
So….
I’d like to point out what I didn’t like about the show… things that I thought were weaknesses and then move on to what I *DID* like and thought the show did well. I realize that back-loading the positives like that will make it seem like I didn’t like it at all… and that’s probably fair. It wasn’t horrid, but I definitely didn’t like it as much as DD S1 or JJ. If I had to give it a letter grade, it’d probably be a C- or D+. It wasn’t a complete waste of time, but I’m not going to be watching it again anytime soon, and I’m not sure if I’d watch the second season (if there is one).
Basically every problem I had with the show can be boiled down to two main things:
1.     This show tries to accomplish so much that it ends up accomplishing little to nothing in the end. (The opposite of Ron Swanson’s “Don’t half-ass two things; whole-ass one thing” philosophy.)
2.     People and things matter!!!! … until they don’t.
So, first, my list of things that annoyed me about the show:
First of all, the fucking lighting and filters and shit. I get that it makes it feel like each character is in their own little ‘world’ of their own show. But, damn, does it have to be So. Fucking. Obnoxious? I get it: Matt is Red. Jessica is a bluish-purple. Luke is yellow. Danny is green. Switching back and forth between all the little filters in their individual scenes and the neon lighting during their shared scenes fucking hurt my eyes.
The music – especially in the later episodes – was also really obtrusive. Like, different times, particularly during that fight scene in the last episode, it felt so out of place. I didn’t notice the score, which may or may not be a good thing, but I definitely noticed the soundtrack at various points, and that was not for a good reason. The music was something I really liked about the first episodes of Luke Cage. At Cottonmouth’s little club, there was always some kind of musical act going on, and I felt like that really contributed well to the show’s tone and atmosphere. Here, sometimes the musical choices detracted from the show, IMO.
The action is all over the fucking place. Where DD excelled in the hallway and stairwell scenes, where all the action was across one long take, during this show’s larger action sequences, it cuts back and forth so much and so often between characters, giving them all of about 10 seconds before moving onto the next one, so that I can’t really appreciate their powers, their teamwork with each other, or just the action as a whole. It was more of like, “Okay, Jessica threw that guy against a wall, now let’s cut over to Luke taking some bullets. Okay, now over to Matt flipping around and kicking some dudes. Okay, quick, over to Danny throwing some punches.” I couldn’t really tell who was winning at any given point, until it cut back to a longer, wider shot and suddenly, all the ninjas were on the ground, and the good guys were all still standing. Also, they never really felt like a ~team~. Like, they all worked to accomplish a shared goal, but they never had any combos or instances where they played off one another’s abilities, really. It was all a bunch of one-on-one melees. Toward the end, the show also suffers from the Game of Thrones syndrome, where all the scenes are really fucking dark and it’s hard to tell who’s who and what the fuck is going on.
But, the biggest thing for me is that I feel like the show didn’t do much in the way of character development. Plot-wise, the show was all over the fucking place, but at least some shit got done in the end: the Hand is seemingly crushed, never to rise again. But, I didn’t feel like I got any real growth from any of the characters. Yes, there was some. I think Danny matured a bit. Jessica maybe became more self-aware of her own shortcomings when it comes to keeping in touch and taking care of the people she loves. Matt had to confront a resurrected Elektra. But… for as much time as we spent with them – especially all of them together – I really don’t feel like they changed all that much. Yeah, a lot happened; but that doesn’t mean they grew any.
Now, I understand that you could make the argument that the Avengers didn’t really grow all that much during their Avengers movie. Especially during the first one. Yeah, okay, but “Avengers” is a movie. And I think it’s fair to judge a two-hour movie differently than a 8-ish hour TV series. I think one of the reasons we don’t have more character development is so much time is spent introducing these characters and their respective worlds to each other and the audience. We have to talk about what the fucking Iron Fist is and what he can do and how he got his powers and what his responsibilities are at least once every episode. Matt has to get frustrated with Stick and refuse to talk about his personal life/details at least once every episode. So much time is spent on exposition and action sequences that it doesn’t leave a ton of time for character development.
Again: this show tries to do too much and ends up doing… well, not much at all, really. They try to give each character their own little arc and subplot, only for it to boil down to: fighting mystical ninjas in an underground dragon graveyard thing until they can blow up the building above them. I can’t describe any of the Five Fingers of the Hand (outside of Alexandra) in more than a sentence; the side characters are there just to either give or receive exposition; and the main characters (the four Defenders) don’t really grow all that much (as stated previously).
And, again, my other main point: things/characters matter until they don’t. Each of the Defenders’ sidekicks are okay with being sidelined in a police station for several episodes. Misty and the NYPD don’t do jack-fucking-shit during the penthouse or the Chinese restaurant fights, but only show up at the end of the season, when it’s a detriment to the good guys, and we have to stretch out the action over another two episodes. Trish and Karen are in a police station together for several hours, perhaps days, but don’t really talk to each other until the final episode. Jessica keeps saying that the only reason she’s staying in this fight is so she can get answers for her client, but then never has any kind of resolution with them at the end. The police give Colleen her sword back, and she doesn’t want to be sidelined, but then she’s okay with it, but then she’s not and she gets back into the fight, and then she’s okay with going with Claire to set the bombs and not to save Danny, which was the whole reason she even felt like she had to get out there to begin with. But, whatever.
The good guys are just running around for hours (days?) at a time, not ever eating or sleeping or changing clothes, really, which they sometimes call attention to.
The whole big thing about them possibly getting charged with terrorism and obstruction of justice and all those other crimes… nah, they all just get dropped for no reason. Let this be a lesson to you, kids: if you endanger dozens of people by blowing up a building in a densely populated urban setting, you too can get away with it scott-free!
The only other big thing that I had with it was that Alexandra was built up as the driving force behind this whole thing. We spent a significant amount of screen time on her just doing random stuff – listening to music, eating food, going to the doctor’s office, putting on her clothes. She might be the only character that we got to have nice, quiet little moments where she just did stuff that was all character-driven, rather than plot-driven. Then, Alexandra gets taken down by Elektra. I get why: adds drama, eliminates one bad guy while building up another, and subverts the audience’s expectations. But, this was a problem I had with Luke Cage too. In Daredevil, for instance, we spent a lot of time getting to know Fisk. And he ends up being the overarching Big Bad of S1 and makes an appearance in S2. He’s still around; he still has the ability to make an impact in Daredevil’s plotlines moving forward. Imagine if they had decided to kill off Fisk in the third-to-last episode of S1 just to set up the Hand. Ugh. I liked getting to know Cottonmouth in Luke Cage, and while his exit ~kinda~ made sense, I still didn’t like how we spent so much time with him only to have him NOT be the Big Bad and die half-way through the season. Same thing here. I think Netflix/Marvel likes doing this to pull the rug out from under us, but really it’s more annoying than anything. I would’ve much rather Gao had been fucking with Alexandra and playing like she was trying to keep everyone together, when really she was the one driving them apart, and then she gets everyone else to betray Alexandra with her. Or something. That seemed to be what it was building toward organically; but no, let’s throw everyone off by having Elektra kill her. And, then Elektra’s reasoning was really weird. She wasn’t really Elektra or the Black Sky, but kind of some hybrid that had some of Elektra’s memories and desires (like, wanting to be with Matt) but also had the Black Sky’s ruthlessness, and then also had this selfishness and fiendness to her that kinda came out of nowhere. Whatever.
Other little things that bothered me:
I still don’t like Karen. I’m sorry; I just don’t. She was fine in most of DD S1, but I absolutely hated her throughout S2. I feel like she gets the Mary Jane treatment: worrying and hand-wringing and nagging her superhero love interest so much so that, even though we should empathize with her, she really comes off as being more of a nagging bitch than a woman worrying about the man she loves.
Stick just died and Matt remembered it for like all of five seconds, and then nobody ever brought it up again. You’d think it would’ve been mentioned by Danny or somebody. Or Matt would’ve brought it up in his fight against Elektra. Stick was a major side character in Daredevil, Iron Fist (I’m assuming) and then had significant screentime in this show. Kinda weird how nobody ever talked about it or mourned for him. Also, super weird how they decided to have Stick attack Danny when he ended up getting killed off by Elektra two seconds later. Why have his character do a 180 like that out of nowhere, only for him to die right after? Doesn’t really make sense.
The way the Five Fingers of the Hand had described what was behind the wall, it made it sound like it was some kind of portal to the actual K'un-Lun, to like this paradise-like setting where they could finally be at peace or some shit. But, nah, dragon bones. It felt so anticlimatic by comparison.
Also, how long had they had this substance and they just NOW ran out? How long did that shit last? Have they had to resupply at other points over the years? Maybe it’s because I didn’t watch Iron Fist, but some of this shit didn’t make any fucking sense. And, didn’t they have like a whole army of undead ninja in Daredevil S2? Were all those assholes brought back using the substance? I’m so confused!!!
Danny was an absolute idiot for using his Iron Fist anywhere near that door. Like, dude, she told you exactly what she needed for you to open the door. Don’t give her what she wants, asshat!
Both Elektra and Alexandra did the whole “we’re not so different, you and I” thing, which I only noticed because I watched a great video on how overdone and poorly used this trope is. It’s cheap and it’s lame, and in both cases here, it didn’t really work. There was no emotional impact from it, and I didn’t feel like it was true in either case. It was like villain monologuing for the sake of the writers buying time until the good guys could show up, or something.
I feel like Iron Fist can be summed up as “A Knock-off Bruce Wayne.”
Anytime the ~mystical~ was involved, it lessened my enjoyment of the show. The scene where Luke is comforting the mom after her son dies in jail… that felt real to me. The scene where Jessica is talking the mom and daughter who are trying to find their husband/dad, that felt real to me. The scene where Matt is trailing Jessica and then gets frustrated when he loses her… that felt real to me!!! Any time Iron Fist or the Hand did virtually anything felt like such a different show. I imagine it’ll be the same whenever Iron Man starts hanging out with Doctor Strange in the Infinity Wars movies, but still, Daredevil, JJ and Luke Cage (the shows) all felt like they were grounded in some form of reality. One that had superpowers, yes, but it was also one that was akin to our own: with gray areas, and questions about actions and their consequences, where people died and got hurt. This show felt like a weird cross-over where all the good guys just happen to all be in the same place at the same time, all fighting against the bad guys, so why not team up to fight FUCKING MYSTICAL UNDEAD NINJASSS!!! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!! OUR BIG BAD FOR THIS ENTIRE FUCKING SHOW WAS A GROUP OF MYSTICAL UNDEAD NINJAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!
Oh, and I should mention that … and I get that this is a superhero show where the weirdest stuff can happen… But the most unbelievable thing was that all four of them showed up to Midland Circle/ Hand HQ at the same fucking time. Why the hell was Luke even on the top floor? The ticket he found from that kid said to go to the parking garage. How the hell did Jessica and Luke even get up there? Danny was with that lady, and Matt took the stairs, but… Don’t businesses like that usually have some kind of pass you have to swipe in the elevator to access the top floors like that? That way randos don’t just walk into the building and go straight to the top floor??
What the fuck happened to those poor Chinese restaurant workers? Did they die? Did they go home? Were they just peachy-keen with their whole place being wrecked??? WTF?!?!?!
I like how Stick pointed out how he found Danny via his phone while they were hiding out at the restaurant… and then everybody kept hauling their phones around the rest of the time. Including Claire, who was answering calls in the middle of a sword fight. WTF?
And during the whole last two or three episodes, all I could think was: WHY THE FUCK DOESN’T SOMEBODY CALL THE AVENGERS?!!?!? THEY’RE RIGHT THERE, AREN’T THEY?!?! CALL IRON MAN, OR SOMEBODY!!! Gosh.
Okay, okay. I’ve ranted enough about the different parts of this show that annoyed the fuck out of me. But, if I disliked it so much, you might ask: why the hell did I finish watching it? Why didn’t I just give up midway through like I did with Luke Cage? What things does this show ACTUALLY have going for it? What did I LIKE about it?
First of all, as a Netflix/Marvel show, The Defenders has an amazing production value. The fact that they could afford Sigourney Weaver for even just six episodes is amazing. The effects and sets are all fairly good; and (again, outside of the mystical stuff) this felt like a real place. There was dirt and grime, and a lot of working parts and side characters who made an appearance (which could be a detriment sometimes). It’s a world that had coincidences, yes, but the fact that only two of the Defenders (Jessica and Luke) had met each other previously showed that, while some of them had heard of the others, this wasn’t such a small place that they’d all serendipitously crossed paths before. Claire introduces Luke and Danny. Foggy introduces Matt and Jessica (sort of). It felt just right. It wasn’t such a small world that everyone already knew each other, but it makes sense that in that in such a small area like Manhattan, there would be some connections (like Foggy working for Hogarth, for instance) that ultimately bring them all together when it’s needed.
Going off that, I really liked the contrast between Alexandra’s world and the Defenders’ world. All our heroes are in the grimy, poorer, dim-light, grungy areas. Even Danny, who’s a billionaire, seemingly lives a run-down dojo. They all seem to be kind of lower-class everyman sort of people. Whereas, Alexandra is very clean; she either wears or is surrounded by a lot of white and lighter colors (like cream and light tan), and she always seems to be in really good lighting – sometimes it even looks a bit harsh on her features. She’s got these refined tastes: eating fancy meals, listening to classical music, private performances, owning a bunch of antique books, etc. Whereas the Defenders eat at what looks like a two- or three-star Chinese restaurant as their first real pow-wow together, and none of their apartments look very clean or organized or fancy. I thought the contrasts between the good and the bad guys was strong, and did well to build up the world and ambiance of the show.
But, what really carries this show for me are the character interactions among the Defenders, once they start meeting each other. Like many people on Tumblr, I seriously enjoyed the dynamic between Jessica and Matt. You can tell that, in the short time they were together, Jessica grew to like and respect Matt – hence the whole scene with her client’s daughter where she alludes to Matt’s backstory. Matt also really respects Jessica’s grit and intelligence. Similarly, I also liked Danny and Luke’s friendship, although not to the same degree. I think when you break down a larger group of four or five people into pairs or groups of three, it really helps to develop the connections between not only the group as a whole but everyone’s individual dynamic with everyone else. For instance, that scene where Matt, Jessica and Luke are going to rescue Danny in the elevator worked for me, because Jessica and Luke already had a strong dynamic from her show (although I feel like they should’ve worked together more, and not just had a shoe-horned resolution at the end), and Matt and Jessica were building a friendship, so they felt like a fairly good unit together. Matt and Luke didn’t have that strong of a dynamic throughout the show, but the three of them in the police station, then on the run, then going down the elevator all worked because two of those three core relationships had some strength and weight to them.
This show also had a good amount of humor and heart to it. While I don’t think it was always well done, I seriously appreciated the effort. As I said before, that scene where the lady breaks down and cries in Luke’s arms because all her children are dead was fucking heartbreaking. The scene where Luke tells Danny that there are people out there caught in the crossfire of his war who don’t know any better, and are just trying to help their families… that was really powerful and well-done. As was the scene where Jessica keeps checking up on her client and daughter, because she’s worried for their safety (especially after what happened on her own show). And Elektra’s scenes in Matt’s apartment. And Matt deciding whether to attack the store owner who’s attacking the kids during the riot. There are some really good moments in there. Anytime there wasn’t mystical undead ninjas, a fuck-ton of exposition or any “we can’t tell you for your own protection” bullshit, this show could be really, really good.
Okay, I’m almost at 4,000 words, and I feel like if I’ve forgotten anything, I can add it in later. As I said, this show was kind of disappointing, considering how much it had been hyped up, and how long (since DD S1) I’d been waiting for it. But, eh. Between DD S2, Luke Cage, and the bad reviews of Iron Fist, I feel like the Netflix/Marvel shows haven’t been as good as I once felt like they were.
Again, this is all my opinion. Feel free to disagree with me. I haven’t really talked to anyone else or looked up any other reviews, so I don’t know if I’m in the minority on this one. Did you guys like it? What problems did you find with it? What were its stronger points? Do you agree or disagree with my review?
Thanks! ~miss-musings
