#i am sure renji would get her one if she asked

hello, congrats on one mil!! you mentioned (very) off handedly in the tags a long time ago that an au where renji was byakuya's sibling would be difficult because renji would want hugs and Kuchiki Do Not Hug. ever since ive been wondering: what exactly would it take for byakuya to give renji a hug? this is my prompt to you. any and all external influences are permissible but it has to be a real, proper hug. no side hugs allowed. bonus (infinite) points for rukia being somewhere in the mix.
I thought about this for 20 minutes and then just yes, and...'d my way through the rest of this. It was very fun! Hopefully someone else finds this half as funny as I did.

"Hitsugaya here."
"Hello, Captain Hitsugaya, it is Captain Kuchiki."
"..."
"I am calling from Lieutenant Abarai's phone."
"Of course you are. What's up?"
"I have a question. What is the standard treatment for hypothermia?"
"...why are you asking?"
"When a person dives into very cold water, say, if they were chasing a semi-aquatic Hollow into a lake and the air temperature is below--"
"Kuchiki, how do you have Abarai's phone if he just jumped into a lake after a semi-aquatic Hollow?"
"Because he threw it at me and yelled 'call Rukia and ask her how to treat hypothermia, I'm sure she knows.'"
"But you didn't call Rukia."
"I did not. I would prefer if she did not find out that I let Abarai jump into a frozen lake. I did not mean to. He is very quick and also a bad listener. Hmm. The water is turning very red. Hollows do not usually have red blood. It would probably be a bad idea to jump in after him, don't you think? Then, we would both have hypothermia."
"Where are the two of you?"
"The thirty-first district of North Rukongai."
"Okay, that's too far away. (yes, it's your brother. no, everything is not fine. no, i think it's better if you let me talk to him.)"
"Is my sister there?"
"Yes, your sister is here."
"What are you doing with my sister, Hitsugaya Toushirou? She already has an official, family-approved suitor!"
"Does she, Kuchiki? Or does she have an official, family-approved popsicle? (no! no, stop grabbing! Matsumoto, some help please!)"
"Forget what I said earlier, he is coming out of the lake now. (Abarai! What is the limb situation? Ah, excellent, well done!) He even has all of his limbs. He does look rather pale and is shaking a lot, so perhaps we should get back to the hypothermia question."
"To be honest, I don't know that much about it. Usually I'm trying to freeze people to death. I only know what they teach in the decadal first aid refresher. Maybe you shouldn't have done that sleeping-with-your-eyes-open thing the last time we had--"
"Captain Hitsugaya, perhaps we could save the recriminations for later. Abarai is dying."
"Fine. I'm giving the phone to Rukia, who is here to work on her bankai, the same as every Tuesday afternoon. Kuchiki, tell your brother how to fix the hypothermia he gave your boyfriend."
"Brother!"
"Hello, Rukia! I would like to clarify, I did not 'give' Abarai hypothermia. He is very difficult to--"
"Stop talking, I know how he is. I am not holding you responsible. I only heard half the conversation, is he wet?"
"He dove into a lake, so yes."
"Okay, your first priority should be to dry him off."
"(Abarai, Rukia says you need to dry off. Yes, I know I have told you not to do that. Go ahead and do it. Just try not to get me--ugh! I told you not to--!")
"Is he trying to dry off by shaking himself like a dog? Don't let him do that!"
"It is surprisingly effective."
"It could also cause him to go into cardiac arrest so please don't let him do that!"
"(Abarai, Rukia says your heart will stop working if you do that. Yes, it sounds fake to me, too. I am just the messenger.)"
"I would hang up on you, except that then Renji would definitely die. Look, is there shelter nearby? Somewhere you can get him inside?"
"No. Can I just pick him up and flash step him back to town?"
"No, that would also cause his heart to stop. (Captain Hitsugaya, can we send a message down to-- oh, you already have? Oh, great, thank you!) Captain Hitsugaya has already called the Fourth. They're sending a medic to you, but it'll probably be at least an hour. In the meantime, you need get him dry and start to warm him up. Do you have any spare clothes?"
"Why would we have spare clothes?"
"I don't know! Sometimes people carry spare capes! They come in handy! Can you give him your haori?"
"Of course not, he hasn't passed the Captains' Examination."
"Okay, well, make him take his wet clothes off, and you figure out which parts of your outfit you can spare. Don't tell me. I don't want to know."
"Oh, I see. Hmm. Wait, Rukia. Before I disrobe, I read a book once, where someone was in a cold climate and they were freezing to death, and they killed a bear--"
"Do not put Renji inside the dead Hollow, Byakuya. I mean it."
"Hollows disintegrate when they die, Rukia, and even if they didn't, he left it at the bottom of the lake. (You did kill it, right? All right, good.) Ahem. I was just thinking that I could find a bear--"
"You do not have time to find and kill a bear, Brother."
"Hmm. Very well. (Abarai, take off your pants. Rukia says so.)"
(various mumbling and other noises)
"All right. I have returned. Abarai is wrapped up in both our cloaks."
"Wait, you had a cloak this whole time?"
"Of course I had a cloak. We went to the mountains of North Rukongai. Of course we dressed appropriately. Abarai even had the presence of mind to remove his before jumping in the lake. (Yes, I know it was so you could swim better. Do you wish to take this phone call?)"
"You could have--you know what? Never mind. Okay, do you have any field rations with you? Getting some warm food or liquid in him would be very helpful. Even if you can just warm some water with kidou and give it to him, that would be good."
"We did not bring any provisions. We were only supposed to come out here for an afternoon and we did not expect to have to leave town. (No, Abarai, I do not think you should drink that lake water. Well, a Hollow died in it, for one thing.)"
"Brother, do me a favor. Go touch his skin and tell me what it feels like."
"His skin?"
"Yes, I want to know if it's cold."
"Does it matter where?"
"Not really, I guess."
"(Abarai, stick your arm out of the cloak. Look, this is very unpleasant for both of us!) I am touching his arm. I would say it is approximately 30C."
"How can you-- never mind. I don't want to know. Is he shivering? Are his teeth chattering?"
"Less so than before, on both counts. That is good, right? That means he is warming up?"
"No, it means his body is shutting down. Is he still talking to you? Is he lucid?"
"He is still talking, a thing that I assume he would keep doing even after all other vital signs have ceased. I will check the state of his reason. (Abarai, who was the captain of Sixth Squadron during the Hellish Dangai Incursion of 892? No, it's not a trick question. All right, it's a little bit of a trick question…That's a really questionable interpretation of events, Abarai. No, I do not think there are any historians that would agree with you.) Rukia, I will be honest. He is not at his best."
"If he's talking and making sense, that's…something at least. But he's not in good shape and you've got to do something to help him warm up until the medic gets there."
"'Sense' is really debatable, Rukia."
"I think you're going to have to do the kaidou, Brother."
"My understanding is that the body temperature stabilization kidou should only be performed in a sheltered location by a trained Squad 4 medic."
"Yeah, that's the clinical one, and you are correct. You need to do the emergency one. It's not as good generally, but it's less tricky. It should help, though! Zabimaru runs hot, so if you can just give them a jumpstart, Renji will probably stabilize by himself."
"(Oh, is that so?) Abarai says you cast this on him 'all the time.' Why didn't you bring this up earlier? And why are you freezing my lieutenant 'all the time'?"
"He likes it. And I assumed you would refuse!"
"Why would I refuse? Which kaidou is it again?"
"Did you really sleep through the decadal first aid refresher? It's number 17!"
"Number 17…that's the one where…oh."
"Can you do it, Brother?"
"..."
"Brother?"
"When you say you do this to him 'all the time', is it because you are truly giving him hypothermia constantly, or is it just a ploy to…you know?"
"..."
"Rukia?"
"Must it be one or the other, Brother?!"
"Well, I was just wondering if the full body contact was truly compulsory, or if maybe I could just…do it from a respectful distance."
"You have to hug him, Brother."
"..."
"It's not so bad, Brother! You nearly cut off an arm and a leg to save me once!"
"...what if I were to sit next to him, so that our sides were touching? I…I could probably even put my arm around him."
"A side-hug is not going to cut it! The whole trick of the thing is getting your saketsu and hakusui close enough to his! You can hug him from behind, if that makes things better."
"I think that might actually be worse, Rukia."
"You're just going to have to hug him normally, then. Renji gives very good hugs! I tell you it won't be so bad! Just do it!"
"I am only doing this for you, Rukia."
"I appreciate it, Brother."
"(All right, Abarai. Brace yourself. As unpleasant as it is, I am going to have to--no, I will not 'bring it in!' Why must you make this worse than it already is?)"
(unintelligible)
"Brother? Brother, are you still there?"
"I am still here. I am doing it. I am hugging him. This is terrible."
"Are you doing the kaidou?"
"...right. The kaidou. I am now doing the kaidou. Ahem."
"Hi, Rukia, can you hear me? He's got the phone kinda close to my face and I can hear you!"
"Renji, is that you?!"
"It's me! He's hugging me, Rukia! This is so weird!"
"We can memory wipe both of you later, probably."
"No, I mean, he's really bad at it! This is the worst hug I have ever gotten!"
"Shut up, Abarai."
"I think you need to relax a little, Captain. Loosen up those arms."
"I do not want pointers, Abarai."
"Well, I'm having--a little trouble--breathing."
"Oh. I see. Yes, sorry."
"Not to interrupt all the fun you two are having, but does it seem to be working?"
"I have no idea. Abarai, is it working?"
"It's pretty different than when you do it, Rukia, but I think it is. Can I have a real hug when I get home?"
"You can have as many hugs as you want when you get home."
"Ahem."
"I am trying to keep him thinking positive, Brother! You can also have as many hugs as you want when you get home! It sounds like you need some practice."
"..."
"Or if you'd rather just have a stiff drink, I'm sure that can also be arranged."
"As you say, Rukia: why not both?"
"Sounds good to me, Brother!"

But what about shoes??
So last night I couldn't sleep because I kept asking myself about what kind of footwear would the Bleach characters wear, adapted to today's fashion. I came up with this hc for some of them and I just needed to post it. (Be aware, I know almost nothing about fashion or fashion brands, so if you feel like that's not right just know I did my best)
Renji
- I honestly think Renji would definitely be the kind of guy who would wear these Nikes, the W Dunk High, obviously in red.
- I also believe he would be secretely proud of them, and would clean them every time before going out of the house (even if they'd get dirty in a fight immediately).
-He would probably have at least one more pair that looks the same, maybe with just a little detail difference, in case these ones get broken in a fight.
- I think he buys them alone so people don't see how happy he gets when he finally has them in the bag
Tumblr media
Ichigo
- Our main boy would probably wear these Pumas (that I can't remember the full name of)
- They kinda go with his bankai, but it's mostly just a coincidence
- He actually bought them because he needed a new pair, and it was the first pair that caught his eye
- I feel like fashion would not be his priority, he would prefer longevity over anything else and feeling comfy
Tumblr media
Orihime
- I am 100% sure she would own at least two of these colorful Converse that she embroidered or decorated herself
- She is the cute and unique type that would wear these anywhere and with anything (even if they don't match)
-They are comfy, but also cute and that's mostly what counts for her, as she buys them for the main bold colors and decorates them however she feels like on the spot
Tumblr media
Toshiro
- In my mind, I see him wearing these Reeboks he would look so good in them and he wouldn't even try oh god
- I feel like when buying them, he'd probably look at the sole of the footwear first to ensure it can hold his fighting as well as his shunpo before anything else
- They match his hair and eyes and add a plus to his otherwise kind of plain outfits (he doesn't see it, but he likes the look anyway)
- I see the brand itself mostly bought by adults who already have kids and are tired and take walks to free their mind; and we know he has the tastes of an elder person already and is tired from scolding Matsumoto all day and just wants something nice, nothing out of the ordinary
Tumblr media
Rukia
- My girl would totally wear the combat boots idc
- She will feel her feet more secure with them on and would like the adherence of the boots
- She also bought them because when she tried them on, she felt like people took her a bit more serious because she looks badass in them
- The black, simple style is what she likes in term of fashion because she can wear them with her dresses, as well as with her fighting gear
Tumblr media
Matsumoto
- If you think our fashionista will not wear some great platform sandals any time of the day, I regret to inform you, you are wrong.
- She would most definitely go through a pair every week because they're not very resistant, but that's fine because she has plenty of pairs.
- She buys them from specific stores that she likes in the World of the Living, at least two or three pairs at a time
- She mostly gets them in black, because it goes with everything, obviously, but she might also have a white and a brown pair for special occasions (like going shopping)
Tumblr media
Uryu
- These President boots (I think that's what they're called) would be all that's in his closet, multiple pairs, leather, suede, in black and brown, but just this type of shoes
- He would not only buy them because of the very good quality, true materials, but also because they look very serious and grown
- He would be careful with them and always have his laces neatly tied
- Would get mad at Ichigo for accidentally stepping on them
Tumblr media
This is mostly what I had in mind, let me know if you share the same opinion, if not, what would you change about it? Also, please someone let me know if this is a normal lenght for a post, I feel like it's too long.
Obviously I took all the photos from the internet and don't own any of them.

WE LOVE TO SEE CHARACTER ANALYSIS ON THE DASH (and/or in the askbox) Especially when it's for top blorbos. 🥰 I am always thirsty for written Hitsugaya and Hinamori content, so thank you for thinking of us! though I will confess I didn’t even know it was possible to make asks that long. I feel like mine always get cut off at like 100 words, LOL.
I'm not really sure what the best way to respond to this is, since as you said it's not an *ask* per se so I guess first I will casually suggest that you join Tumblr and Bleach fandom and write all the posts so we can be friends and write posts specifically in Hitsugaya and Hinamori fandom, which I swear is not a cult it's not a cult it's not--
I really resonated with your last bit, about the possibilities of growing their relationship post-Aizen, which we didn't necessarily have space to see in canon. Like, just thinking about it made my heart swell and thrum.
My interpretation of these characters is different than yours, but I hope you don't take that as an argument against yours in any way!! I think that source material with exciting fandoms are open enough to contain multitudes, and I joined Tumblr to specifically see other people's takes! So I am happy to have as many takes as we can all make together.
For me, I think that Hinamori does look after Hitsugaya quite a bit. When they were children, for sure, by being in the friend he probably wouldn't have had were it not her--but also in the more recent era. She brings him food gifts as acts of care in the fireworks flashback chapter, and also at the beginning of the Zanpakutou Rebellion arc. And I think she thinks after him in ways that most people he interacts with probably don't because, well, he's a captain, they're not, it's not really their place, etc. etc. I don't think that Hinamori necessarily has a lot of opportunities to showcase this in canon, by pure virtue of not being in very much of canon, but I think their sense of needing to look after each other is mutual. I think what "looking after" looks like can be fairly invisible, though, because it has so much to do with knowing who he is, what he needs, what he can give--taking him as he is. The ability to do this indicates a lot of emotional maturity to me.
Hinamori seems uniquely good at meeting Hitsugaya on his terms (whereas Matsumoto is more given to pushing him out of those terms--which can also be good, in that I think he benefits from both)--and I think that means a lot, because Hitsugaya seems to do a fair amount of translating/calibrating others' experiences to his own, which takes a lot of social energy in itself. (The example I always think of is when he's talking to Byakuya in TYBW about Renji and Rukia's relationship to Ichigo and he takes the time to preface this by ackowledging that his and Byakuya's experiences/worldviews may well be very different, aha.) He probably still needs to do that to see where Hinamori's coming from (and has failed in this--like when he's going through the missteps that led to Hinamori's endangerment as he's running back to the Central 46 quarters/misjudging whether Hinamori would break out of jail/break kekkai, etc.) but that was uhhh not a great day all around! In better times, I think Hinamori also presents situations where he doesn't *have* to, and that is so valuable. I also think it just means a lot when everyone's basically just trying not to die while adhering to whatever terms the Gotei has set for its shinigami.
The reason Hinamori first bore witness to Aizen was because she was the first one to draw her sword and turn around to help Hisagi. Were it not for Aizen and Ichimaru showing up, it would have been certain death. Kira, with his dead parents, knew it; and Renji--you don't survive Inuzuri without a well-developed sense of self-preservation. But Hinamori's instinct was to deliver aid--to protect. That impulse is part of her, too. She doesn't go around making assertive declarations about protecting people, but I think she's still very much part of that conversation.
As far as hardship goes, when I think about why Hinamori held so tightly to Aizen and felt such devotion to him, I don't personally tend to think about it in terms of naivete or lack of hardship. If there is something Aizen presented to his subordinates that would have been really, really appealing to young Rukongai fen, it's that combination of support and stability. That sense that there's someone looking out for you--someone who's going to look for you tomorrow and remember what your calligraphy looked like last week.
Trauma doesn't often build resilience; repeated traumatic exposures tend to make each one worse, and the need for that kind of stability even greater. Whatever Hinamori's life was prior to meeting Aizen, sure, it wasn't District 80, but I don't know that it was all that great. Anywhere in Rukongai, I feel like it would be possible to be protected all one's life. (Arguably, anywhere in *Soul Society*--so many of the characters we know who've lived their whole lives in the Seireitei have led completely fucked lives, no matter the walls, the money, the bloodline.) So I think that lived precariousness is a big part of why what she (thought she) found in Aizen was so profound.
Given what we know about Hinamori's story, I think she's probably felt a lot of loneliness, even though she's made fantastic friends in all stages of her life. You absolutely can't do better than having Kira and Renji in your corner at the Academy--same with Nanao and Matsumoto in the Gotei. Hitsugaya probably thinks she could have done better than him in Junrinan, but I don't get the impression it's her other friends she specifically made trips to see. I think it would feel supremely isolating, to have had friends in Junrinan and to grow apart from them, by sheer virtue of your life and your experiences becoming so different from theirs. (Particularly at the juncture between Rukongai soul and shinigami, because the point of the Rukongai is that they aren't living lives, not really. How fucked up would that be, to have to come to terms with that AND to be training to become part of the force that maintains that reality?)
I always think about that tidbit (was it a databook or a light novel? I have no idea) where Hinamori feels like the world is moving on without her. That's post-Aizen (inasmuch as this man can ever be post-) but that is such a profound kind of loneliness--especially if she's been on the other side of that with her Junrinan riends, too. Given that the narrative also largely moves on without her, that's just sooo fucking sad to me. </3
I do think Hitsugaya was/is lonely, too--I mean, I think everyone in this series is loneliness incarnate!--but I also think that practically speaking, his social needs are lower than Hinamori's are. I don't know that he understands himself as a lonelier person than Hinamori. Does he wish he could be more like her in terms of her warmth? Maybe sometimes. But he's also impressively self-possessed (this goes back to the maturity you also reference in your ask). If he wasn't, I think the Matured Form bankai wouldn't have worked--the cognitive dissonance/dysmorphia would simply kill you, aha. But anyway: I feel like more often than feeling directly lonely, he feels like he's not doing enough for the people he cares about, because that side of the social needs graph is all bootstrapped data to him. This is maybe its own kind of loneliness. He has like, two friends, but he seems like the kind of person who still needs to consciously put in work above his own social needs in order to feel like he's doing right by them (and probably never achieves that feeling, regardless of how his two friends actually feel about it). Particularly given that a lot of what he wants to do--namely, protect Hinamori--is likely impossible, given the world they live in. I think his path towards becoming someone who can protect Hinamori is as much about coming to terms with that likely impossibility as it is about actually achieving the goal. (At as the shinigami limit approaches infinity, the result is, by nature, paradox.)
For me, I think a lot of Hitsugaya's desire to protect Hinamori comes out of two things: 1) maybe the more obvious, having access to a whole lot of shinigami power. And wtf else is it supposed to be good for? What makes this worth anything? but also 2) a sense of indebtedness. I don't mean that in a negative, extractive way, or even a subordinating way. Like, not in a "bank's gonna come repossess your car" kind of way. But in a sense of understanding that the person you are comes from someone who had a profound impact on your life, and this is the bond you share. Debt and gratitude, maybe. お陰様で (okagesama de)? 感謝 (kansha)? That's what I'm thinking of, but I hesitate to get too deep in the weeds with those because I think both might be phrases that Japanese America has gone kind of wild with. XDD
But I think Hitsugaya probably sees Hinamori as having already done more for him than he is ever likely to match (and also she keeps being that person, lol, so the debt grows). Whatever he manages to do to protect or help her is a drop in the bucket on the other side of the scale. The point of this form of indebtedness is not, of course, to erase the debt, or to feel chained to it, but to always exist relationally with each other through it.
Those are some of my tl;dr headcanons! Thanks so much for stopping by to share yours, too. I feel like we checked each other's books out at the library. I appreciate you, anon!!

Am I the only one that thinks about the beautiful friendship we were denied between Rukia and Uryu?
He is the first to stand up to Renji and Byakuya on her behalf, he goes to ss to save her and he even makes her, her very own dress.
She gets more compassion and acceptance from what should have been a mortal enemy, then from her brother and oldest chialdhood friend.
Uryu making that dress must be very important. If it wasn't Orihime would not have insisted on its importance to Rukia. Him making someone a dress must be unprecedentent, so much so, that Orihime who knows him, and whom we know is not a stupid girl, believes that it's because he has fallen in love .
I really like the idea of a frinship between these two.
They would even be cute as a couple. He even has on his favor the fact that he DIDN'T imprisoned and delivered her to her executioners. Sorry Renji, you have to do way more before I'll find you worthy of my baby. Inoue at least worships the ground Ichigo walks on, she even went to ss to help the girl that the was sure that Ichigo loves.
Look no farther fellow ichirukis that ask me why do I cut Orihime way more slack than I do Mr. Abarai. She didn't kiddnapped, beaten or tried to kill Ichigo's friends. Witch is the bare minimum in a relationship.
The only things that he brings to the relationship are a nice body and their mutual obssession with Byakuya Kuchiki, another man that doesn't even deserve to be near Rukia's.

Chad Fuck,Marry,Kiss The Bleach girls
Chad blinks down at the ask before looking up at you, “That’s a long list, but alright, I think I can do that.”
Orihime: Fuck “Usually, I would have said kiss, but there have been a few times where I joined her and Ichigo for some fun, good times. Plus, Orihime has never been one for modesty, would be nice to finally work out those feelings.”
Rukia: Fuck “She has always been a lovely woman, wouldn’t mind doing it with her.” A slight blush on his face as he scratched the back of his head. “It’s no wonder we all tried so hard to rescue her back in the day.”
Karin: Marry “Karin is a fiery girl, reminds me of Ichigo in that regard, and we’ve been close ever since I saved her back when I first got my powers. Wouldn’t be too bad tying the knot with her.” And she had certainly grown into quite the woman.
Yuzu: Fuck “She’s a cutie, but I don’t think I’d go that far with her. Not the same connection I have with her sister.”
Tatsuki: Marry “She’s a strong woman who always fights to protect those she cares about, Tatsuki is a woman I greatly admire, and I’ve learned a few things from our sparring together. And uh,” the slight blush returned as he scratched the back of his head. “Just because she’s not as “gifted” as Orihime, doesn’t mean she isn’t pretty curvy.” He had to clear his throat real quick, his blush slowly fading.
Mizuho: Fuck “Keigo’s big sis has always been very attractive, but I don’t think we’d go much further than that, I’m not her type.” He brushed his hand through his hair, not short enough for her liking.
Chizuru: Fuck: “Cute girl, and she was the talk of the locker room with how often she groped Orihime. There are some rumors that you can actually find her in the there on certain days, same days that the glory hole is open actually.”
Mahana: Fuck “Mahana has always been a fun girl, great gym partner, though she did ask me out of the blue about how large I am. We meet up every now and then.”
Michiru: Kiss “I’d do more, but she’s always so skittish. Orihime says it’s because I intimidate her.” A soft sigh escaped the gentle giant at that fact.
Ryo: Marry: “Last few years of school, I spent a good amount of time studying with Ryo, nice girl when you get to know her. Actually ran into her a lot during my morning runs, spent some good quality time with her.”
Ururu: Kiss “Cute kid, but can be a little creepy at times. Would just feel off.”
Ikumi: Fuck “Hot lady, Ichigo told me that she can be rather doting at times. That and her tits are extremely soft.”
Yoruichi: Fuck “Ms. Yoruichi constantly walks around in basically nothing, any man would love to spend the night with her.” That woman never stopped teasing people.
Kukaku: Marry “It was a crazy time when we were training for the cannonball, and she wanted to see just how powerful I was. One of the best parts of the trip, if I’m being honest.”
Soifon: Fuck “I used to think it would be dangerous to try and even touch her, but with how she’s been acting around Renji and Mr. Urahara, I’m beginning to think that it wouldn’t be that bad.”
Unohana: Fuck “She scares me, but some part of me would love to be held by her. Wonder why that is.”
Isane: Marry “It’s rare for me to find a woman almost as tall as me, and her body is very nice as well. Both are just bonuses when it comes to her kind personality, and her soul is as beautiful as the rest of her.”
Momo: Kiss “Something about her makes me feel like anything besides a kiss would be wrong, at least, not until I get to know her better.”
Nanao: Kiss “Same as with Momo, also she did want to kill me when we were saving Rukia, but I’ve mostly moved past that.”
Rangiku: Marry “I’m not blind, she’s one of the most sought after woman in Soul Society for a reason.”
Nemu: Fuck “Uryu has told me a lot about her, and she did not disappoint. I can see why he keeps meeting with her in secret.”
Kiyone: Kiss “She’s a cutie, kiss for now, not sure how it might change moving forward.”
Kirio: Fuck “When I met her, she kept feeding me food as she fucked me. We ended up going for about three whole days before I had to leave.”
Senjumaru: Fuck “That woman does not take no for an answer, and the way she can use her hands is eye opening.”
The Sword Five: Fuck “They are a varied bunch, and I had a great time with all of them.”
Neliel: Fuck “Those rags do not cover much, and she can be insatiable”
Harribel: Fuck “Returning to Hueco Mundo was eye opening, and she does not hide her bust at all. I ended up staying there longer than I thought I would thanks to her and her sidekicks”
Apacci, Sung-Sung, Mila Rose: Fuck “Those three were very much invested in my time with their leader. Though they did lack their Queen’s stamina, they were fun while they lasted.”
Loly and Menoly: Fuck “Both were very needy, seems that without Aizen to lust over, they needed someone to worship. I was just closest when they realized this.”
Riruka: Marry “We had good times together in Xcution, and she always loved it when I pulled on her pigtails. Wouldn’t mind spending more time with her.”
Jackie: Fuck “She really likes getting down and dirty, claiming that it’s the best way to train.
Hiyori: Kiss “That girl is a nightmare, and she really wanted to kill me. Not the best first impression.”
Mashiro: Fuck “That bodysuit does not hide much, and it did not disappoint when she unzipped.”
Lisa: Fuck “She was very forward, hard to say no when she just put her hand down my pants.”
Bambietta: Fuck “That woman is dangerous, but very hard to resist. Thankfully, I was durable enough that her explosive finish didn’t hurt me that much.”
Liltotto: Kiss “Though even that might be a bad idea.”
Meninas: Marry “She’s a very beautiful woman who was very happy to find someone as strong as her. She’s even followed me home a few times, and is always there at my matches. My number 1 groupie, is what she calls herself. I am not complaining, though she is a little baby crazy.”
Candice: Marry “Underneath her hot exterior is a very determined woman, one who really just wanted to find the right man. She actually accompanies Meninas to a lot of my matches, and joins her for the after parties. The two don’t seem to mind sharing, even if she doesn’t like the fact that she’s the number 2 groupie. Still, she’s just as baby crazy as her friend, wanting to make our relationship much more solid. I don’t mind, but I do need to be careful. She once tried to lock us up in my room after she had downed a lot of fertility tea, and was doing everything she could to get me as virile as possible, she does not know when to quit.”
Giselle: Pass “She horrifies me, and I’ve been warned that she tends to zombify her lovers, so I am staying far away from that.”
“And that’s everyone, I think.” Chad said, scratching his chin as he thought of all the women he’s had the pleasure of meeting.
(These are all the girls I can remember, though this does not include anyone that is anime/LN/Movie/Video Game exclusive or Zanpakuto spirits. If you want those, send in another ask, this one is way too long. Also has the most tags, so kudos on that. God, Bleach has so many characters.)

For the requests: something with Hinamori and Rindo, don't mind if it's headcanons or a fic. Like maybe how they first met or just how they interact?
I’ll be going with headcanons for this one anon, as we don’t know too much about Rindo yet. I’ll also be including a few headcanons involving other characters as I don’t think I’ll have another chance to do so, so hope that’s okay!
Momo and Rindo first met when he was appointed lieutenant of the Seventh Division. She was one of the first to welcome him along with several other lieutenants, and was made aware that he’s deaf before meeting him.
She and the other lieutenants all make an effort to learn some basic sign language to communicate with and understand him. He tells her and the others he can understand them through lip reading, but they still want to learn.
They learn Japanese sign language through both Rindo and a teacher (likely from the Academy). Out of all the lieutenants, Renji picks it up the quickest. It doesn’t surprise either Momo or Izuru, who have known Renji be more or less a kinaesthetic learner.
In fact Renji picks it up so quick the other lieutenants initially (and sometimes unintentionally) rely on him to be a translator of sorts during meetings.
Renji teaches and practices with Momo and Izuru when they get together for catch-ups after meetings/work days. He shows them a few basic phrases they can sign to Rindo – like “How are you?”, “Can I help with that?”, “What are you doing?”
When she can, Momo will ask Rindo what the sign is for certain things – for instance, she would ask what the sign for ‘I am well’ or ‘tea’ is. Like with the other lieutenants, he appreciates her wanting to learn sign language to communicate with and understand him, so most of the time he’s happy to show her any signs she asks about. The only time he doesn't is when he's busy, to which he'll show her later.
When Momo goes to discuss business with Rindo, she makes sure to do it either at Seventh Division or in an outdoor setting.
This is because one time she came by the Seventh Division to drop off some documents for him and Iba to look over, but she couldn’t find either of them. She eventually found him surrounded by a variety of animals in one of the Seventh Division’s gardens. She’d heard rumours from others that this was a common sight at the Seventh Division barracks.
She approached Rindo, but had a hard time getting his attention with his back turned. It wasn’t until one of the animals, a cat, left his side and approached her. Seeing that the cat was friendly, Momo couldn’t help but pet the animal – she has a soft spot for cats and cute animals. When she looked back up, she realised Rindo had been watching her. It’s first time she’d seen him smile, and he signed to her ‘She likes you.’
Momo found out that Rindo had given names to a few of the animals and can see that he really cares about them. She also notices his care makes even the more dangerous animals in the group – such as a wolf – more docile and friendly.
Seeing that he was more comfortable outdoors, Momo decided from that point on that if she needed to meet with him she would do so outdoors. She doesn’t find the animals too distracting, as they’re mostly drawn to Rindo, and he’s able to detach himself from them without much trouble – it’s just that he really enjoys their company.
She even brings along bird feed when she knows she’s going to meet Rindo, coming prepared for any birds that may flock to him. Rindo appreciates the gesture and showed her how to feed them.
In general Momo and Rindo get along well. Rindo thinks Momo is a diligent lieutenant and appreciates that she wants to communicate with and understand him through sign language like the others. He also appreciates that she recognises how comfortable he is outdoors and with animals, but is willing to go inside when needed to complete paperwork. Momo thinks Rindo is a polite and kind lieutenant, recognising his care for animals and is interested to learn how he releases his zanpakuto into it’s Shikai state and how he casts kido spells.
I really hope we get a new manga arc as I’d love to know more about Rindo. Like with A Silent Voice, it’s nice to see Japanese sign language in manga and anime, but Rindo also seems like an interesting character. I loved how he released his Shikai and I’d love to learn about his relationships with the other Gotei 13 officers.
Hope you enjoyed this one!

Hi again!! Thank you for your detailed answer, it was of great help! And because my curiosity doesn’t know where to stop, i went looking for more stuff about Zaraki and Unohana and now I see them as a couple?!? Like, how? I ship the really hard, they became my number one Bleach couple and again, I don’t know anything about Bleach! And to make it worse, now I’m developing a huge crush on Zaraki, and I know nothing, zero, nada about him! Oh well, the heart of otakus works in weird (wonderfull) ways). Can you tell me your opinion (the specialist) about Unohana and Zaraki relationship? Do you think they love each other because they are the only ones that can understand each other? (Does this makes sense?), like, they are the only ones that can make the other feel alive? Feel good? Feel happy? I’m eager to know what you think! (And just for me to know, dating Zaraki would be anything but easy, right? My guess, I know nothing about him). Thank you again and I wish you happy days!
No problem babe!! I'm sorry I didn't answer earlier, tumblr happened to NEVER notify me about new messages T-T. But here I am! So, I totally get you why you see them as a couple. It was never stated, so it's up to your imagination whether you wanna ship them or not. I believe there is some kind of "mother/son" dynamic but not in the strict sense. Idk if it makes sense honestly. I am not sure if they love each other, but I do think they both held a profound need for the other and also some kind of resentment (mainly unohana for making him hold back his powers in a way). That's why their final battle is so full of emotions! Unohana scolds Kenny for holding back as if she had a motherly bond with him. Kenny feeling more and more weak against her, allowing himself to do so because he didn't want to lose her. But in the end, when Kenny killed her, he screams desperately asking her not to die. And that's only when he is able to listen to his zanpakuto for the first time. I think he understands that he has "grown up".
So for me it's all up to you if you want to ship them! I kinda do, too :P I find their last battle absolutely erotic! I have a little scenario that tries to "bond" that "motherly" figure and the erotic aspect of violence, and finding love in letting one die for the other. If you wish to read it, you can do it here 💖.
Regarding dating Kenny; I think it would be easy as long as you can 1. keep up with his battling style or don't annoy him too much about putting his life in danger like he usually does. And 2. if you can deal with his "beasty" behaviour. But if I have to be honest with you, I believe he is a sweetheart deep inside. You see how he carries a kid around all the time? well, he is also training Renji's daughter now. So he is very good with kids in general. He is simple man. Give him violence, give him peace, give him nights of calm -and hot hot sex (if your body can take it)- and he will be fine. Also, this is all a HC but I believe he would protect you like nobody else. Oh and he hates my husband Byakuya, and Byaku hates him too... but both make a great team when it comes to fighting and protecting the seireitei 🤭

First Cuddle
AO3
Characters: Renji and Rukia (RenRuki),
Genre: Fluff/Romance/Humor
Rated: G
Chapter Summary: Cuddling a cactus is hard, you have to be exceedingly gentle. Part of the "Soft Moments" anthology series of oneshots.
All parts: Hugs, First Cuddle, I Am Home
Rukia didn’t like hugs on principle, Renji has known that for a long time. She says they are impractical, restrictive, and make it hard to flee in times of danger. He was pretty sure this was at least partially a front, but he wasn't going to push her on it. Instead he would usually just let her come to him, and tried to put as much meaning into every hug he gave her.
This became slightly more awkward when they started dating. For the most part, they could continue on as they were, but when one is on a date rather than a hangout with friends, far more moments arise where hugging, or even straight up cuddling, just seemed appropriate.
Renji was in one of those moments now. They had gotten off work, gone out to a nice restaurant, and were finishing off the night by watching the sunset on their favorite hill overlooking the lake. The sky was clear, there was a slight chill in the air, the fireflies danced around them. It just felt right.
He had already kissed her. He was thinking of doing it again. Mostly though, he just wanted to hold her close to him, arms wrapped around each other, legs tangled together. He wanted to be near her. But…what did she want?
Renji turned his head towards her. Rukia’s eyes were closed, hands resting, one on top of the other, over her stomach, a small smile on her lips. Maybe she had fallen asleep?
"Hey, Ru…" Renji began quietly.
"Hm?"
"You awake?"
Rukia yawned, "I answered, didn't I?"
"Um…how do you feel…how would you feel about…" Renji stuttered. Rukia cracked an eye open and looked at him.
"Hurry up, or I really will fall asleep."
"Do you… Argh! Nevermind…" Renji grumbled and turned away. Rukia opened up both eyes and turned towards him.
"Hey… you okay?"
"Yeah…yeah… No need to rush things…"
"Rush things… Wait… Were you going to ask if I wanted kids?!" She asked frantically. Renji turned back towards her, panicked.
"What?! No! I mean, yeah, eventually we should probably discuss that, but we've only been dating for like, what, a month?" To be accurate, they had been dating for twenty eight days, three hours, and forty-five minutes, but Renji wasn't going to say that out loud. That would be weird, right? He thought.
"Twenty eight days, three hours, and…" Rukia looked at her soul pager and waited a beat or two, "now forty-six minutes on the dot. Plenty of time to get to know someone well enough to discuss childbearing, or at least, so I've read." Renji wasn’t sure what he wanted to do more, kiss Rukia or find out what deranged library she went to. He pushed both aside for the moment.
"Well anyway, what I wanted to discuss was…" Renji took a deep breath, "I wanted to know if you wanted to cuddle." Rukia's eyes went wide.
"Oh," She replied simply.
"We don't have to!" Renji said quickly, "But you know…if you wanted to, I'm up for it."
"Oh," Rukia said again, she was looking at the sky this time, "It's not so much that I'm against the idea, I just…never considered it."
"Wait…so in your manga, they discuss childbearing after only a month, but they don't discuss cuddling?"
"Oh no, they do, but that's different," Rukia said with a wave of her hand, "They are hot protagonists with hot boyfriends. I just have a hot boyfriend, and even that was a surprise."
"I don't know,” Renji said, propping himself up on his elbow as he looked her up and down, “I think you are pretty sexy.”
"Heh, you are just saying that because you are a dork who loves diminutive girls with humongous attitudes," She quickly deflected, but her face had turned rather pink now.
"No,” He replied, looking at her meaningfully, “Just one. Always just the one. But anyway, if you are unsure, we can take it slow, you know?"
"Take it slow…?"
"Yeah, you know how when people don't like hugs, they do like a half hug? We could do something like that!"
"A half cuddle? Renji, how is that even possible?"
"I can show you!...If you want," Renji ended sheepishly. Rukia was quiet for a moment. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Then she opened them again and gave him a fierce look.
"Okay! I'm ready!"
"If this is too stressful…"
"Renji, I'm ready. I want to do this. Now hurry up before I lose my nerve."
"Okay, okay, well let me know if it's too much, and I'll stop." Renji scooted closer to her and rolled onto his side towards her. He placed his hand over hers, lacing his fingers with her top hand. "Is this okay?" He asked gently.
"Yes," she said. Renji moved his other arm under her head, and around her shoulders.
"How is this?"
"That is also acceptable," Rukia said, giving a decisive nod. Renji couldn't help but chuckle a little.
"Do you want to come any closer?"
"Um…" Rukia hesitated, "Maybe in a bit…"
"Okay, no problem!" Renji said, and did his best to stay very still. They laid that way for awhile, watching the setting sun, hands entwined, wind lightly tousling their hair.
"This is nice," Rukia sighed happily. Renji chuckled.
"I'm glad you like it.”
"Thank you, Renji," Rukia said quietly, turning her head, pushing herself into the crook of his neck, "Thank you for taking it slow with me."
"You don't have to thank me," Renji said, his arm around her moving up to gently let his fingers run through her hair, "All I've ever wanted was to be closer to you."

You mentioned platonic yandere rei and enji, how would that go?
 Yandere Platonic Enji & Rei Todoroki
I am so glad you asked. Last post of the year, so... enjoy! Check out my MASTERLIST for more!
Yandere Enji & Rei Todoroki:
I think having them as platonic yanderes would be fun. And dangerous, but mostly fun.
So maybe you're from an abusive home, or maybe you just looked liked a helpless or troubled teen that needed help. Both financially and emotionally.
Post redemption Enji has been looking for a second chance at raising a family. Rei has forgiven him, but his relationship with his kids is broken beyond repair.
Rei's also looking for a way to show her maternal love, but her kids have learned to grow up without her and her affection. They may have forgiven her, but they've grown up now and don't need her anymore.
So when they find you, they know they have to have you. You need them and what kind of people would they be if they left you all helpless?
Enji is the no. 1 hero, so he has all the resources he needs to make your family disappear and have you adopted. Of course, they don't want to kidnap you; they want you to have a normal life.
Once they've adopted you, you will be, and this is an understatement, spoiled.
Enji will buy you anything you want. Anything you need, it'll be in your hands before you could even ask for it. He'll give you more pocket money than any other kid, and he'll even give you his black credit card that has no limit.
Rei will be showering you in all of her maternal love. She will be cooking you the most delicious food and all kinds of snacks, but she'll make sure you only get the best organic food that are full of nutrition! If you compliment her cooking skills, she'll kiss your cheeks and ruffle your hair, memorising your favourite dishes.
Rei will also be helping you dress up, even if you're more than capable of doing it yourself. She'll be buying you clothes and accessories, deciding whats appropriate for an event, and pick out your outfits. Just be glad she's not helping you in and out of your clothes.
Although Rei loves doing your hair, even if you insist that she doesn't have to, Enji will also enjoy doing your hair. He's bad at it, never being able to do more than a simple ponytail, but he's willing to learn.
They're both very protective of you, a simple scratch on your knee will send them into overdrive. Rei will be the one to ice your bruises while Enji will be bandaging you up and making sure no serious damage has occurred. And if you ever get sick, they'll be fretting all over you.
You aren't allowed to go to sleepovers, but they're more than happy to host as many as you want. Rei would be the fun cool mom who easily befriends everyone, while Enji will grace you friends with his prescene. He might even tell a heroic story of his.
Any love interests are out of question. And don't bother hiding any relationships; they'll always have some spying on you. They're either threatened or paid off. You don't need anyone besides your family.
They're going to be sending you to the best school in Japan and they will be making sure that they both attend all of your school meetings and extracurricular activities. Even if Enji can't make it, which rarely happens, Rei will always be there to cheer you on. She missed all of this with her kids, she's not going to miss yours.
Enji will be proud of all of your achievements, no matter how small. And he'll even place them on the fridge or boast to Hawks about you. Enji will make sure to tell you how happy he is and if he's extra proud, he'll pat your head.
Quirkless or not, they don't want you to become a hero. Its too dangerous. Why not be a baker or an artist or better yet, don't work at all. They have more than enough money to support you for generations.
Still, if you insist, they'll let you go to UA, but Enji will use his influence to make it difficult for you to get job offers at hero agencies. If you do want to work, why not work at the no. 1 heroes agency? This way, you get to work with the best, and he gets to keep you out of harms way. Plus, now that you're under his wing, Enji has more motivation to not only be the no. 1 hero in Japan, but also no.1 in your eyes.
He will train you himself, but will always make sure not to go hard on you and not let you over exert yourself. If you compliment any of his moves or try to copy them, his heart swell with affection and he'll chuckle as he looks at you with adoration.
Enji will make you his sidekick, fighting off all the villians alone before you even get a chance to. But accidents happen, and so when you get hurt, really badly, by a villian during a fight, Enji will forget all of his principles and incinerate the criminal alive. Then he'll pick your bloody body up and rush you to the hospital and get you treated; he'll even threaten the doctors and the hospital.
Rei will be at the hospital as soon as she hears about your condition. She'll be crying into Enji's arms while he feels guilty that he let you get hurt. Once you wake up, they'll both come into your room and let out a sigh of relief. Rei will be kissing your forehead as she cries tears of joy, while Enji will hold your tiny hand in his large one, looking at your bruises and bandages with worry. They both look at each other and make a silent vow to never let this happen again. Never again.
If you thought they were too overbearing before your incident, think again. Once you've come home, they won't let you have any personal space. They'll be breathing down your neck every second of the day they can. They'll rarely let you out of their sight, and they'll be infantalizing you a lot more. Working as hero was thrown out the window the moment you got hurt. And you'll be rarely let outside of their home, unsupervised especially. Its safer home, princess. We can't afford to let you get hurt again.
If you do manage to sneak out, this is when you'll see their ugly side. Enji will quickly have you brought home, either by himself or by his colleagues. And once you come home, you'll see angry Rei for the first time. Rei would be yelling, screaming at you for being so careless, so stupid. You'll be so scared, you'd be hiding behind Enji. Rei would be more than willing to freeze your legs and break them, just to keep you home. However, Enji will be the more level headed one, simply using his strength to put you into quirk cancelling cuffs.
You will be a whole lot more cautious of Rei now, because you know what triggers off Enji and he always gives you a warning before any sort of punishment. But with Rei, you don't know what sets her off. A simple look outside the window will make you the target of her rage. She'll grab your face, her nails embedded painfully deep in your skin, asking you if she isn't a good mother. "Am I not enough, (Y/n)? Why do you want to leave me? Am I a bad mother? Why do you hate me so much?!" She has hit you with her ice "accidentally" a lot, often knocking you out. Enji would often be the one to your rescue, calming Rei down and reassuring her that you won't leave them, before he comes over to check on you. Once Rei calms down, she'll realise what she's done and will be crying and apologising profusely.
Enji rarely gets mad at you. You're just his small, harmless princess. How could he ever be angry at you? But if he does get mad, he'll give you a pointed look, his turquoise eyes staring you down. And if you don't get the hint, then he'll hold your hand as he slowly warms it up. You always back down before you get burned. Don't worry though, Enji won't ever hurt you. He won't repeat the past.
Rei might return to her previous self, if you behave and reassure her that you won't leave her, but it'll take time. Enji will be wary of letting you out alone, but if you gain his trust back, he'll let you out with a few bodyguards.
Just sit there, be their good little kid, call them mom and dad, and everything will be taken care of.

There isn't a ship name for rei and enji, right? Renji? Reji? Erei?
Requests are open!

hello just watched kate (2021) and. thoughts. spoilers ahead, of course.
things about kate (2021) that make me go ????:
mew is super pretty but. why is she a random white girl in japan.
moreover, why are she and her handler (henceforth known as haymitch because hunger games) both in japan !
it just. does not seem like the story needed to be in japan. it feels like they chose japan for vibez only. oh, there’s cool technology stuff and bright colors! that sure would look nice on screen! we can do some fun weird fetishizy implications about asians while we are at it hehe🤪
like 30 mins into the film @scrambld-egg was like “why’s it always the yazuka?” and like. YEAH. this could have happened in russia or be italian mafia or literally any kind of organized crime anywhere because of how absolutely little relevance it has to the plot.
why is kijima’s brother even a target? why him specifically? what did he do bestey
what does their “crime syndicate” even do? what kind of illegalities do they get into? did anyone even consider this
did anyone consider any of this plot, frankly. like i have to ask.
we all knew haymitch (varrick) was working against her after she suggested retiring and like. that kind of plot twist is fun and all but GOD would it kill y’all to make it more ... something ? dramatic, personal, thought-through ?
like. yeah he is selfish and cruel and obviously groomed her from a time she was vulnerable and a literal fucking child to be his little killer but WHY is he like this. we do not get any backstory for him, even a little.
similarly, what changed for renji that made him so willing to turn his back on family. we kind of see something in that he thinks he can do better than kijima and he got power hungry but for a group that supposedly cares about family he sure was willing to massacre his.
in fact, kijima even said something about how western poisonous mindsets overtook renji and made him turn his back on family and just. okay but for why
it’s just a Lot to kill a child, especially a niece or whatever she was to him. silly
we know kate was trained to be a killer since being literal Baby but like. i wanted to see more flashbacks that made her solidify her implicit trust in haymitch.
i am begging why the FUCK is she even in japan it does not seem like she travels much
for that matter, if she IS the kind of assassin who travels a lot (i miss villanelle at least she fucking made sense), they literally never mention it. they literally do not talk about her life experiences aside from freaky haymitch being a weirdo awful man.
to recap: did she travel for her murder work? if yes, why not say so. if no, why the FUCK is she in japan of all places.
how can you have a story in japan about a woman and make her white
and then have her massacre a bunch of asian men for no reason that we know. i didn’t even know to hate them i just felt bad and there is something unsettling (as an article i found articulated better than i could as i watched) about watching her mindlessly murder a bunch of poc.
like i get the reason why ani was obsessed with kate because she lost everyone and new mother figure saved her life but like
why does kate care so much? if it’s guilt, aside from her quitting because she can’t get over osaka, we don’t see any of her conflict.
i’m just. kind of bitter because the premise and the characters have SO MUCH POTENTIAL but the absolute lack of plot is devastating
and like. i can appreciate a good action movie with zero plot + blood and vibes only but the way that kate started made me genuinely be like oh wow! they sure have a lot to work with i hope they develop things!
things that kate (2021) could have done better to truly live up to all of it’s incredible potential; a list:
listen the actress is super pretty (she reminds me of renfri from the witcher and i would DIE for renfri) but like. she should have been half-japanese.
when ani tells kate “we’re the same” .... girl help that would he SO MUCH FUCKING BETTER if kate was half japanese.... kate would literally see herself in ani, a half-japanese girl who is forced to grow up too soon with too much violence around her.... the parallels between the lives they could lead and have lead would be so much cooler....
and it would goddamn explain why the FUCK she was in japan oh my god it is just so seems white savioury even though kate doesn’t play the hero and like
a flashback scene (NOT a flash of one) where she was younger and haymitch was coaching her and something goes wrong and you see that weird freaky deaky bond demonstrating her implicit trust in him.
how can you have ani LITERALLY SAY “i’m the last person you’ll ever get to know. are you sure you don’t want to know me? that’s sad, kate. that’s sad.” AND LITERALLY NEVER HAVE KATE LEARN MORE ABOUT HER
like they made kate fall asleep like IMMEDIATELY after, so everything she could have learned about ani was said to her when she was passed out. and it made the scene where ani takes selfies with her kinda weird because there is not that much emotional impact
similarly her death was anticlimactic? i like when action movies have anticlimactic deaths but those deaths usually have some emotional impact and. this was so hollow besties
it just is such a shame because the cinematography was BRILLIANT and again there was. SO MUCH POTENTIAL for a movie to MEAN something
there were a couple of metal lines too, but those seemed hollow as well. “i’m dying. i have to finish... i have to finish something.” could have been SO GOOD. “my life was never mine. until now.” (this one may not be verbatim i cannot remember exactly) could have been SO GOOD. the basic premise was all there... she was regaining control of her life hours before her death, the poetry is all there, just BEGGING to mean something. but it doesn’t, in the end. it doesn’t mean much at all.
some action movies are good for nothing but blood and i can respect that. but when a story is TRYING to have a point but misses in delivering... that’s when i get upset. i love mindless shit but if you want me to care, fucking make me care, kings!!!!
that is all.
anyway. thoughts?

Hey sosa!!! Sorry if you’re getting a lot of byakuya ask! So I got something I’ve been thinking about. Imagine byakuya gets taken to a strip club/gentlemen club by his peers and renji to help him ease up a little bit and to get out more and he wasn’t really all that impress until he sees reader and boom! He’s been stuck on them from that moment on and tries everything to get her! From visiting often, to VIPS rooms, giving gifts and eventually trying to make her quit because he’s so rich he can easily just pay her lifestyle if he wanted to!
EEEEEEEK!!! So whatcha think about that? And if you ever build a headcanon off this I’ll be foaming at the mouth 😮‍💨cuz your and writing is 🤌🏾😮‍💨
P.s. I might even come off anon if you can guess who wrote this🤭🤭
HI NONNIE !!! i am soooooooo incredibly sorry for being late :(( i'm finally getting to all my asks >< please don't apologize i absolutely LOVE AND ADORE the saturation of byakuya related content i've been getting in my ask box and i want more :D love a reason to talk about my maaannnnnn. also, i think i very much know who this is but u shall let u come forward if you wish :))))
okay i personally LOVEEEEE THIS IDEA???FDKFDEKF LIKE THIS SOUNDS SO GOOD ! i think this kind of scenario is def something he would do to an extent 🤭 i would like to add, at first byakuya wouldn't want to go to this kind of place because, as prideful as he is, he thinks he's 'above it' and thinks that men who frequent these establishes so often are lowkey 'tasteless' because he just doesn't understand, subjectively, the appeal of watching barely clothed women dance in front and around him. but he may understand why other men might go.
and then he folds.
it's because renji is annoyingly persistent and figured the only way to get him and his other male friends/colleagues to stop asking is to go. so he promise he'll go just once and one time only just to see what the hype is about and it's like you said, he wasn't all thatttt impressed (at least they had decent drinks) but probably wouldn't come back on his own free will. until he sees the reader 🤭 she comes out in an outfit that is revealing but isn't all THAT revealing compared to her coworkers and his eyes are immediately drawn to her. there's also a certain elegance, poise and finesse that is threaded within her every movement but at the same time, she's still very sensual and feminine. the combination was incredibly sexy and captivating to byakuya, his gray silver eyes would continuously find their way back to her, like metal to a magnet. your gazes met twice during the night; your eyes were beautifully beguiling, but there was an amicable quality to them that felt inviting. you even gave him a wave as you left, and byakuya's eyes widened in surprise but otherwise his face didn't give away any emotion to his other colleagues.
all night he would think about you. yes 'kuya was a quiet man by nature but this time he was somewhat lost in thought pondering and contemplating about you and as he parted with his friends and arrived at his lavish, expansive bachelor pad, he was also already considering returning back to the establishment.... just to see you.
but ofc because he is as stubborn as he is quiet and intelligent, he wouldn't actually go back for almost another week. he made sure to go discreetly on a day/time that none of his colleagues would be there b/c he knew if they ever saw him they'd never let him live it down. this second time he goes back, he sits in a section by himself and just watches you, gingerly sipping on the alcohol he's been served. the way his eyes became low as he stared at you dance and manuever on stage, you would think he was glaring at you but it was quite the opposite. he was observing you, drinking you in, trying to figure you out just by watching you; byakuya could be very astute. either way it made you hot to have this handsome man's eyes on you all night. it wasn't in a creepy or predatory way which was a change of pace u could appreciate. in fact, you found it-- and him-- very attractive.
byakuya would find himself giving into his more primitive desires and visited a third and fourth time and the fifth time is when he gathered the courage (?) to request a private room with this woman. he figured it was time to talk to her. in all honesty, he didn't really like the idea of visiting this place so often because it made him a hypocrite but he came for you. and now, it's time he'd show you his world after getting to watch u in yours. he def courted her using his polite manners, chivalrous attitude and...basically just being himself and he was such a breath of fresh air, and sexy too, how could u resist?
i don't want this to get any longer than it already is LMAOOOOO but as u can see.........the wheels in my brain were actively turning as i typed and this was too good of an idea that i could most CERTAINLY flesh out so i thank u for this <3

AU According to Hueco Mundo rules upon beating Grimmjow, Ichigo proposed to him. Ichigo does not know this. Grimmjow does.
Thank you for the ask friend! (from this post!) My answer is a little long so I'll put it under the cut.
OOOOOH! I am so excited for this. Ok, let's jump right in with the headcannons:
1. At first, Grimmjow is taken aback. He was planning on being the one to beat Ichigo. He was prepared to be the one proposing. He is, therefore, shocked when he is the one proposed to. He's not sure how to handle that emotionally. So he withdraws for a while. Ichigo thinks he's just defeated a foe, so he's celebrating. Grimmjow on the other hand is trying to figure out how to respond. See, he always thought the one who had the most power was the one proposing. But now he's starting to see there is some power in being able to turn someone down or to accept. The ball is in his court now. Of course, he wants to accept. But he also wants to make sure it is the best damn acceptance anyone has ever gotten. So, once he figures out how he feels about the whole thing, he holes himself away to prepare his response.
2. Grimmjow has two individuals he trusts to bounce ideas off of: Harribel and Nel. Harribel because she is the most dignified of the Arrancar, and he suspects she may have had to deal with proposals in the past, though he isn't sure if it was responding or proposing and he isn't really interested in asking. He just wants to know...what does she think would be an appropriate way to show his response. (and Harribel is secretly very pleased he came to her for advice. She won't admit it but she thinks of Grimm as some sort of family and she does actually want good things for him, and that orange-haired shinigami is definitely good for him). Nel because she spent the most time actually with Ichigo in a non-combative situation. She's the one Grimmjow can talk to who would have an idea of what Ichigo might actually enjoy. Unfortunately for Grimmjow, the ladies are both hollows and still have very limited interactions with soul reapers let alone humans. So the advice given is...interesting to say the least.
3. Ichigo is oblivious as fuck. He's just. So dumb some days. Our precious dumbass protagonist. I think there would be a few ways Grimmjow would end up showing his intentions. There's always the typical 'show you can be a provider'. But he knows Ichigo doesn't eat hollows or use them for anything. So he can't hunt that. And he isn't sure which living world animals are edible and which are poisonous and like hell he wants to poison his fiancé. So he watches humans; sees they get groceries from markets and stores and bring them home in strange bags (I hope you see where this is going) and so...Ichigo comes home from school one day to see bags upon bags of groceries (most of them meat) piled on his family's doorstep. The pile is at least as tall as him and twice as wide. And if you're wondering how Grimmjow paid for them...he didn't.
4. Grimmjow would probably think the first show of his intentions was accepted and successful because Ichigo had hauled it all inside. So he moves to the next step. Probably showing Ichigo he can be reliable or something like that. He hovers around the Kurosaki household, masks his presence (he doesn't have to worry too hard though cuz Ichigo sucks at sensing spiritual pressure) and watches their daily routines. Then, one day when all of them are out, he sneaks in. And does his very best to help with the housework. To his credit: he only breaks five plates and only tears three of Ichigo's shirts. He considers it a job very well done, and he continues 'helping' like this for about a week to try and get his point across. Though, after seeing how Isshin greets Ichigo so violently in the mornings, Grimmjow may or may not end up shredding several of his ties. To send a message. And Isshin isn't stupid. He knows exactly what is going on and who shredded his ties, and he is thoroughly amused.
5. When Ichigo's soul reaper friends figure out what's going on, they come consistently to watch 'the events'. They are joined by Nel and Harribel, who are curious as to how it's going. Renji introduces the hollows to the concept of popcorn. They sit, hidden and masking their presences, munching on snacks and watch everything go down.
6. Finally Grimmjow gets a bit impatient. He barges in directly, because Ichigo proposed to him, yet he hasn't responded to any of Grimmjow's show of intentions. He kicks in the wall. Because it's Grimmjow. And he grabs Ichigo and drags him off for a fight, determined to show his final answer by kicking his ass. Luckily, he has the element of surprise and is successful. Except Ichigo is very confused. He ends up admitting that he's not sure what the hell is going on and Grimmjow is just like 'are you fucking kidding me'. He has to awkwardly explain things and then there's two blushing idiots standing there in an awkward silence. And Ichigo goes "are we married then" and Grimmjow is just like "Obviously, you idiot".
Those are my thoughts on this AU! Thank you so much for asking, it was so fun to answer this!!!!

Every moment with you-Ukitake Jushiro
Tumblr media
"If I had to be reborn every lifetime it would always be you."
(Your Name) sighs while sitting on the floor packing all her belongings and putting them in boxes to move out the barracks. This was the hardest thing to do, everything they shared and everything Ukitake had were being placed else where. It didn't feel right to her but and she just lost her husband and home.
She felt lifeless as Kyoraku sat across from her and frowned. Of course he was still heart broken by his best friend, his brother death. They were inseparable.
"(Your Name) I know it's hard but I promise you things will get better."
"Better said than done." She answers back but doesn't look him in the eye and folds his captains cloth placing it in a nice decorative box where she put all his special belongings.
"You will be okay out there?" He asks worriedly as she nods her head in response and rubs her red eyes from all the crying.
"I'll check up on you every often." Kyoraku sits himself up and takes one last look of Ukitake and (Your Name) house before looking down and bidding a farewell.
"(Your Name) come here." Ukitake kindly smiles at his wife as she set the hot tea down. Walking towards him he held a brush as she sat in front of him and hummed in delight.
"You know my favorite part of the day is at night and we get to spend quality time together." He says as she hums in response.
"My favorite part is waking up to you." She answers back as he chuckles and ties her hair back in a low bun as she turns towards him.
"I guess your answer is better than mine." He slightly pouts and takes a sip of the tea that was prepared.
(Your Name) curled in bed alone as she cried again they spend hundreds and years together as friends and the love of each other life's. So she asked herself how do you fully heal if you've spend most your life depending on each other.
Ukitake was no longer here, who could she depend on that was like him? His soothing voice and calming nature made her feel secure.
Looking out the window it was a starry night as she moved out to the country side to heal more. Setting up his shrine and everything else it was weird. Never had she been alone like this.
(Your Name) wondered was his soul reborn yet? Was he in Rukongai or the Human World? Either way it would be impossible to find him. There's was millions of soul getting reborn everyday.
"You're sick! I'm not letting you leave this room." (Your Name) yells at Ukitake as he coughs and holds onto his desk for support as she ran to his side and held him up.
"Yes but work comes first." He says softly and sits back down to do unfinished business.
"Honey. You've down enough, maybe it's time you retired? It's only a matter of time and you are only getting older!" She exclaims as he chuckles and swats her away kindly.
"I still look young though."
She rolled her eyes and pouted, Ukitake health was slowly getting worse but it never stopped him from working hard and supporting his squad.
There were times she worried he didn't have long to live because of how severely sick he would get at times but those thoughts she bore were heavy on her heart.
"I'm just scared...what if something bad happens to you?"
Ukitake looks up to her and grabs her hand gently with his and kisses it.
"I'm here right now that's all that matters."
"But what if there comes a time you aren't no more?" She questions as he knits his brows to find words to say.
Ukitake didn't know what to say because he also knew.
"You know I'll always have you and I'll be somewhere better." Although those weren't the words he wanted to say the truth had to be told as she looks down and nods.
"I love you." She whispers and he smiles.
"I love you too."
Waking up the sun peaked up as she groaned and looked towards her side.
"I guess its still a habit. I can imagine you here but you aren't here."
Getting ready for the day she had a unexpected visitor. Well it was expected but he didn't tell her.
"Good morning!" Kyoraku happily says walking into her new place as she smiles back and lets him in.
They both said their prayers to the shine before setting up the table to eat breakfast.
"How are you holding up?"
She wanted to lie but didn't know how to.
"It's okay, I can't say I haven't stop crying and doing old habits but I think being out here is better and getting the fresh air feels nice."
The older man hums in response and stares out to look at the flowers scattered everywhere. "He would have loved it out here."
"I know... that's why I decided to come out here. It's more like 'you've worked hard let's go rest somewhere peaceful now' I know it's time for me to rest also."
Kyoraku smiles and then looks at Ukitake picture.
"He's smiling down at us (Your Name) theres no need to torture yourself no more."
She rolls her eyes playfully and looks at the picture too before grinning. "I know but it's hard."
"I'm not leaving him!" (Your Name) screamed at Kyoraku as Ukitake prayed to Mimihagi as to becoming the right hand of the soul king.
"I promised him you would not die in this war!"
(Your Name) cried as she watched Ukitake sacrifice himself and suffer in pain.
"You knew and didn't tell me, you guys both knew! How could you let me leave him like this." As she cried and  fell on the floor.
Kyoraku grabbed her forcefully as she struggled to get loose and she screamed in pain.
"I'm not letting him leave by himself."
"Don't be selfish (Your Name) you aren't thinking! He's doing this for the sake of Seireitei! He's doing this for everyone! For you!" Kyoraku yells at her as she looks away and cries into his chest.
Glancing back at Ukitake she wasn't sure if he was still physically here.
Wiping her tears she cooled her head and nodded.
Kyoraku left as she signed and laid in bed. She would go back to work when she was fully healed but as of right now she didn't wanna do anything.
Life at this point had no meaning to her if he was gone.
"I promise you I'll get better."
50 years later
It took her a few years after Ukitake death to piece herself back together, during the time she went back to being a shinigami and full filling her duties to protect souls and those she loved.
There had been a disturbance in the world of living so her and few lieutenants were sent down to the world of living to check it out.
"I feel a high reitsu coming from the west." Hisagi says as him and Kira went to check it out.
"I'll check east and Renji will go south." Rangiku tells (Your Name) as she nods and follows north.
It had been many years since she was last down here. It had been during Aizen's battle.
"The human world has changed quite a bit."
After reporting a few suspicious incident to Kyoraku she watched the sunset alone waiting for the others.
A man in his 30s walked by her reading a book, he was smiling peacefully with his hair tied in a low pony and a nice button up.
The white hair tamed.
She gasped slightly as he looked up to her and his eyes widen a bit.
"You can see me?" She asks questioning him.
"I can see you, Ive seen many things since I was a child." Ukitake laughs not fazed a bit from her outfit and sword.
She felt happy tears fall from her eyes as he jumped a bit afraid he had hurt her feelings because she was dead and he wasn't.
"I'm sorry, I'm just so happy. You're alive."
He tilts his head in confusion as she wipes them away.
"My name is (Your Name)." She introduced herself as he kindly bowed
Although she wanted to bring him back he had a different life here and showing them together would only confuse him.
"Your name sounds familiar to me." Ukitake says as she sadly smiled and lied to him. "Maybe it's common around here?"
"No it's pretty unique. I've heard it somewhere." He says but can't seem to connect the clues.
Oh how was the world was cruel to them both at this moment. She would have to remember all the memories of them as his was mixed with confusion and facts.
"Do you believe in rebirth?" She then asks him as he nods his head. She took a deep breath and said the following words Ukitake told her before his death and sacrifice.
"If I had to be reborn every lifetime it would always be you."
Ukitake touches his head as it started to feel a bit dizzy and she held him and he gasps. He knew for sure something about her was familiar but he was getting frustrated not being able to figure it out.
Tears fell from her face as Ukitake eyes were watering. "Why am I crying? My body is doing it on its own."
Ukitake was beyond confused but she wouldn't let him suffer no longer. She knew he was safe and happily healthy living down here and that's all she needed to know.
"I'll wait a few more years for you and then we'll meet up there."
Ukitake looks at her and reached his hand out. He didn't want her to leave this comforting feeling and Ukitake knew he knew her somehow but he can't remember.
Kissing his forehead she took one last glance and disappeared.
"I'll see you then my love. I'll watch over you till it's your time and then we can finally be together again."
Ukitake looks up to the sky as the uncontrollable tears fell from his face and he tried his best to compose himself. He just couldn't as he cried, he felt something from her and he would have to wait.
As much as he wanted the pain to leave, his own heart neglected his mind.
"I'll see you again (Your Name)."
(Authors note: Oo so sad, Ukitake is literally so precious, he didn't deserve death.)

15, 16 and 21 (which real life actors/celebrities would you have play these characters if there was a live action Bleach movie in soul society?) For Momo and Toushiro :)
Character Ask meme
Tumblr media
So again one of my answers ended up being long, so they're below the cut:
15- Favourite line of theirs?
Momo: "I've come to this battlefield as the Fifth Division Lieutenant. I bear the adjutant's plate upon my arm. But what that signifies is that I am here as 'the officer responsible for the Fifth Division'. Not as 'Captain Aizen's subordinate'. That man is now the enemy of Soul Society."
Toshiro: "As long as I can strike you down, I would gladly abandon my status as captain right here and now!"
16- What do you think would improve this character? Like, character-arc wise?
I don't generally like to say how I would improve a story or character arc as I'm not sure what the creator went through while creating their work, and I will also preface this by saying this my personal opinion, so if you don't agree with anything I'll write that's totally fine.
In short for both of them: MORE SCREENTIME! Of course neither of them are main characters, so unless they're plot relevant we're not going to see them as much.
This definitely proved to be the case for Momo, who was a major character during the Soul Society arc after Aizen's 'death', but then lost relevancy to BLEACH's plot after he left for Hueco Mundo. She did show some agency by coming to the battle in Fake Karakura Town and even got to show off her proficency with kido, but the cynical part of me can't help but feel Kubo just ended up using her to get a reaction out of Toshiro. Because of limited screen time, we didn't see the full growth of her character as the series went on. For one thing, I would have loved to have seen her in battle more than once. She's a kido pro, but we only get to see her show her skills 3 times: against Tier's fraccion, against Tobiume and Haineko, and it's mentioned by Shinji that she's a pretty good healer. I wish we got to see more of that from her, see which kido spells she combines and how she uses them in battle!
I LOVE her implied arc, about recovery from trauma and how long it can take an individual to get back on their feet. Thing is though, the key word is implied. While I appreciate Kubo showing us that her recovery is slow, I really feel like her character arc would have been improved if we actually got to see her recovery after Aizen's defeat in the manga. Yes, it's fantastic to have that chapter with her and Shinji meeting and getting to know each other in the Death Save the Strawberry novel, I love that it was included and I love their dynamic. However, how did Momo reconcile with Izuru and Toshiro? How did she feel on her first day back as a lieutnenant? What was her reaction to Aizen being freed during the battle against the Quincy? It's such a shame we don't see any of this; on one hand it leaves us to come to our own conclusions/headcanons, but on the other nothing is concrete, we don't really know where Momo stands with some of her friends. We definitely see her worried and concerned for Toshiro in chapter 659, but am I the only one who thought we were going to get a flashback to show how she reconciled with him? I mean, I assume she did, and I assume their bond is still going strong, but I don't know if this is the case for Izuru or Renji, for example.
I'd probably need to think about it for a while more, but right now I think there isn't too much I'd change about the way Toshiro's arc played out. I hate seeing him suffer so much, but for me it makes the wins he gets all the more better, and it's again another demonstration of moving forward through and eventually moving past trauma. His minor arcs were ones about oneliness (seeking one's place in a world where you're different in one way or another from everyone else) and recovery from trauma, but his main arc (from how I read BLEACH) was about maturity. Him being a prodigy and the maturity he displays when performing his job and his usual stoic, cold demeanor likely gives many the impression he's mature beyond his years, but they forget he's still a youngster. His arc is made obvious by contrasting this seeming maturity with the occasional jokes about him still being mistaken for/thought of as being a child, him having an issue with his height, and also lacking emotional maturity as seen when he is quick to lash out blindly in dangerous situations when provoked. Aizen knew this about him and used it to his advantage, putting Momo in danger and harming her to get a reaction out Toshiro that would result in him being severely wounded every time they faced off. Momo basically sums it up in her monologue in the Zanpakuto Rebellion arc:
"I can't wait until I'm older. There's nothing great about being young. Being young means that you're still naive. That's why it feels like you're soaring in the sky or sinking beneath the ocean when someone you admire betrays you. Those emotions control your entire life and can make you lose sight of who you are. By growing older, your heart grows more experienced. You grow one step further away from being controlled by your feelings and are able to keep from soaring through the sky or sinking to the depths of the ocean. That's what it means to grow older."
However, Aizen initially underestimated Momo and Toshiro's bond, believing Momo would either kill to Toshiro or he would kill her. She wept and questioned Aizen's last wish while she was trying to attach Toshiro, which is somethign I'm sure Aizen didn't foresee happening. It shows Aizen thinks little of bonds, and then uses their bond as a weakness for Toshiro. But he's wrong...to an extent. When Toshiro's bond with Momo get threatened, it does indeed provoke him to act out in anger, a sign of his immaturity (even Kyouraku sees this when he advises Toshiro to remain calm while confronting Aizen). We see after Aizen's defeat that Toshiro is training to grow strong enough to protect Momo. While it's his bond that motivates him, it's will and commitment to become stronger for those he cares about is what gave him the new strength he wants to gain, not just the bond itself.
Through this, he achieves maturity in a very literal sense. Ignoring the potential fanservice-y elements of it, Kubo shows the completion of Toshiro's arc by making Toshiro literally mature with Hyourinmaru's perfected mature form. However, I do think we see his mental maturity as well before the end: in the few chapters before the matured form's reveal, where we see Toshiro making jokes about his height; it's another sign he's matured, able to make light of his height instead of being annoyed by it. A sign of his emotional maturity could be how easily he smiles in the last chapter; prior to this, it was rare for him to smile, and when he did it was often in private or with few people around. Him smiling in front of people he isn't close to is for me a sign of him having emotionally matured.
Was all of this because he achieved the mature form? I almost feel Kubo is saying 'yes' based on how Toshiro was before and after obtaining it.
I REALLY got off topic here! If I had to change anything about Toshiro's development/arcs: show his reconciliation with Momo and maybe a scene where he talks with Rangiku about how she's coping with Gin's death, I think it would have been a good extension of his minor arcs I mentioned above.
21- Wild card! Talk about anything to do with this character! Anything at all! (which real life actors/celebrities would you have play these characters if there was a live action Bleach movie in soul society?)
I don't think I can answer this one as I don't really know any Japanese actors or celebrities, sorry ^^; Will say though I really like both their seiyuu and voice actors in the anime!
Thanks for sending these in!

Here's probably my only entry for IHweek. I've finally returned to writing. This is an excerpt from chapter 2 of my story Come Back Down to Earth. You can read the first chapter either on AO3 or FanFiction
Confession (IHweek 7/4) Please enjoy!
Chapter 2: Crawled In and Never Left
Give me the chance to tonight
I'll prove to you what's in my eyes
(It’s My Turn To Fly - The Urge - Titan AE soundtrack 2000)
Ichigo considered himself a reasonable man, but his patience was growing thin with his roommate.
“C’mon, man! You had a solid chance with Hime last night!” Renji pleaded with him. “Why are you so obtuse?”
“That’s an awfully big word for you.” Ichigo rolled his eyes at his friend. “Ever think of taking your own advice with Rukia?”
Renji let out a long suffering sigh. “You’re both hopeless, and therefore perfect for each other.”
“I’m perfectly happy with how things are with Hime. I don’t want to chance it.”
Renji pulled out a box of pretzel sticks from the cupboard. He fixed a concerned look on his face, and the seriousness unnerved Ichigo.
“Look. I’m not gonna force you. Even if I think you’re absolutely nuts not to. I will, however, point out that you’re an idiot for not telling her how you feel.” Renji pulled out a piece of pretzel and pointed it at Ichigo to emphasize his thought. “You’re gonna lose her one day if you continue to be ridiculous.”
Ichigo narrowed his eyes as his scowl persisted. “You think I am not aware of that?”
Renji placed the stick between his teeth and grinned toothily. “Yup!”
A sleepy noise came from behind the two men just as Ichigo opened his mouth to snap at his friend.
“Mm morning guys,” Orihime yawned as she stepped into the kitchen. “Any coffee? It’s too early.”
“Sorry Hime. Were we too loud?” Ichigo asked, his previous scowl morphing to something more kind.
“No,” she murmured. Her voice was still thick with sleep. She stumbled a little, bumping into Ichigo. “Oh hi wall. You smell nice.” Orihime leaned into his chest and snuggled him.
There was a strangled sound from Renji as he watched the young woman wrap her arms loosely around Ichigo’s waist. Instinctively, Ichigo wrapped his arms around her to steady her.
“Renji,” Ichigo said softly as to not disturb Orihime. “Please brew some coffee for her.”
“Jeez if I had known that Hime could instantly dissolve your sour mood with an embrace, I’d handcuff you both together.” Renji grumbled and shook his head, walking over to the coffeemaker on the counter.
Ichigo hummed a distracted acknowledgement as he idly stroked Orihime’s long auburn hair. She snuggled into his broad chest further. “Thanks. I’ll move her back to her room.” He was already moving towards the living room as he heard Renji’s snarky reply.
“Oh take your time. I’m merely here to serve.”
~*~*~*~
Ichigo sighed heavily as he stepped out from Orihime’s room and shut the door behind him quietly. He turned to walk down the short hallway, only to stop dead in his tracks when he saw his two friends standing a few feet away with evil grins on their faces. Squaring his shoulders and fixing a glare at Renji and Rukia, he taunted “Don’t you both have something better to do? Like, absolutely anything?”
Rukia’s grin sharpened further. “Nah, we’re more interested in heckling you.”
Ichigo grumbled, raking his fingers through his unruly hair. “Yeah yeah. You’re both insufferable.”
He flicked Rukia’s forehead and smacked Renji’s upper back swiftly as he moved to leave.
Rukia’s retort was loud as she declared, “And YOU are the annoying brother I never asked for and yet somehow got!”
Renji’s muttering was barely noticeable under the small woman’s rage. “C’mon, Rukia. Let’s leave him be.”
Ichigo rolled his eyes, stepping around the ornery woman and made his way to the kitchen. Of course, Renji was right. It annoyed him to no end that he hadn’t spoken with Orihime about how he felt towards her. Hell, if he were being honest, he knew that he was in love with her at first sight.
She’d stumbled into his dad’s clinic, buckling under the weight of her brother’s prone body. This girl, only 12 at the time, carried her six foot and change older brother from the scene of the car accident all the way there. She was battered and bruised from the wreckage too. It broke him to his very soul when he had to tell her that his father was unable to save Orihime’s brother. The ambulance Isshin had called to rush him to the trauma ward of the hospital had simply not gotten there in enough time.
He did his best to console Orihime, who collapsed in a heap on the clinic floor. Her clothes were soiled with dirt and caked in her brother’s blood.
Yuzu had entered the room, and with a kind and understanding voice, ushered the broken girl to the bathroom to wash up. Orihime stayed at his house for several days, mostly walking around with mechanical movements, much like a zombie or a robot, just going through the motions of a semblance of normalcy. At night she’d cry herself to sleep. Ichigo stayed by her side when she was awake, and would help her to bed when she could barely stay up right.
Slowly, but surely, Orihime processed the loss of her brother. Ichigo stuck to her like glue, promising her and to himself that he would always be there to protect her. Orihime professed her gratitude to him soon after she moved back to her apartment, telling him that she was eternally grateful for everything he had done. As time went on, they became inseparable. They went to the same middle school and then high school, which introduced them to new friends that they quickly established into a tight-knit group.
Orihime had grown up beautifully. Her smile, warm and bright, had the ability to render him speechless and lightheaded. He felt invincible and vulnerable all at once. Far too many times, their friends would catch him when he was slack-jawed and mindless, teasing him mercilessly when Orihime wasn’t looking.
He began calling her ‘Hime’ their senior year. He hadn’t meant to, but it just slipped out. She had been followed by a group of boys who often flocked around her, taken by her beauty and her curvaceous body. One of them had ventured to put a hand on her shoulder without permission and Ichigo had snapped. Any restraint he had frayed instantly and before he understood what was happening, he had slammed the cretin against the wall and threatened him.
“You don’t touch women without consent, especially Hime.” He growled at the other guy, clenching the offending limb.
Orihime had called his name softly, telling Ichigo to let the man go, and he had simultaneously dropped him and her request. Ichigo made it a point to be by her side every chance he had. To protect her, love her from a distance if need be. It was enough, at that time.
But once Ichigo, Orihime and their friends entered university, the strain to keep a tight seal over his feelings became increasingly more difficult. His best friend flourished in academics and her social life expanded to include other people outside of their small group. With that also came obstacles, and Ichigo had to fend off more than a few of Orihime’s admirers.
Ichigo gripped the handle of the carafe of coffee angrily at the memory. The steam and scent of the hot brew brought him back to the present. He sighed after loosening his grip and poured two cups, adding cream and sugar to Orihime’s.
Soft footfalls behind him reached his ears, along with a quiet yawn. A grin spread on his lips as Orihime came into view.
Orihime blinked away the remnants of sleep from her eyes, smiling brightly at Ichigo when he offered her the cup he’d gotten for her.
Taking a big sip, she sighed happily. “Thanks, Ichigo. You always know how to make my coffee just how I like it.”
Ichigo smiled gently at her, shrugging his broad shoulders. “Well, after knowing you for ten years, I’d like to think I know you well enough to get your preferences right.”
Orihime giggled and gazed up at him from behind the mug pressed to her lips. “You do, and I’m grateful for that. Lord knows why Rukia insists on adding extra sugar and Tatsuki puts in too little cream. You are a hero among men, good sir.”
Ichigo’s smile widened at Orihime’s playfulness. “I try my best, m’lady.”
“Where are Rukia and Renji?” Orihime asked as she looked around the kitchen.
“Don’t know. Don’t care. Hopefully somewhere off annoying someone else more deserving.” He shrugged nonchalantly.
Orihime snorted bemusedly, shaking her head in disbelief as he tried to sound convincingly bored and grumpy. She raised her hand to place it on his right cheek in a fond manner.
“What am I going to do with you?” Her question came out more flirtatious than she intended.
Ichigo’s eyes widened at her sweet gesture and instantly leaned into her touch, closing his eyes and revelling in it. He had never realized how touch starved he truly was until Orihime would step into his personal space with her warm smile and kind gaze. It was as if that one thing, a fleeting brush of her fingers, or a soothing embrace had the ability to heal his wounded heart or eradicate any scar left on his soul.
Losing his mother at such a young age had made him a hardened and angry child. He blamed himself for her death, believing that if he had done something, spent more time with her, taken care of her and his sisters more, that she may very well have recovered from cancer. But his father had explained to him many times that the disease was caught too late, and the malignancy had metastasized from her cervix to her uterus and ovaries very quickly. Ichigo was still struggling with the loss of his mother two years later, when Orihime stumbled into their clinic with her brother.
He’d figured that no matter how miserable and heart wrenching it was, he had found purpose in consoling Orihime. It gave him unbelievable strength to bond with her over the loss. Helping her ultimately helped him as well in the end. The desire to be with her only grew. It had crawled in and never left. He’d become greedy for it, overthrown by his desperation to be close to the light that was Orihime.
She continued to lightly graze his cheekbone with soft brushes against him, her warm fingers causing pleasant tingles on his skin.
Orihime cupped the side of his face as she watched in awe how he was drawn to her touch, feeling the soft smile that pulled at his lips. When he raised his hand to place it over hers, she felt herself being pulled by an invisible force, almost magnetic. He had always been like that, and she adored being the one that he let in entirely. She stroked his cheek and began to pull her palm away until he held fast to her. His eyes fluttered open, and the look he had in them made the breath catch in her throat.
“Ichi-“ she murmured breathlessly.
The raw emotion that flashed in his dark amber gaze made her spine tingle, her heart stutter and her cheeks warm. He had the ability to render her tongue-tied with the flicker of something deep and foreign to her. Ichigo pulled her into his arms, finally allowing her hand to move, and she found herself slipping it to the back of his neck and burying her fingers into his soft hair. He wrapped his arms about her, pulling her to his lean, muscular body and sighed happily as Orihime sifted her fingers through his hair, scratching at his scalp comfortingly.
Orihime pressed her ear over his heart, as he towered over her five foot one frame. The thumping, strong sound of it beating quieted her mind immediately. He slid his hands up and down her back, and she felt herself melt into it.
“I… I just need this, Hime.” Ichigo’s whisper filtered into her ear as he pressed his lips to her temple, sending a shiver through her body. Though quiet, she heard the fervency in his tone. She nodded against him, continuing her movements through his hair. She felt him shudder in their embrace and the breathless ‘thank you’ that he uttered.
“Were you thinking about something?” Orihime whispered back, her eyebrows drawing inwards as the possibility fluttered through her mind.
Ichigo nodded, letting out a stuttering sigh. “Yeah. Don’t worry about it. I’m better now.”
She hummed thoughtfully at his response, resigning herself to his simple answer. She wouldn’t push him further.
Finally Ichigo pulled back from her to look her in the eyes. His gaze was still intense, as it flickered with what she could only identify as resolve and something far much more akin to what she assumed she wore as an expression often in his presence. It made her heart skip a beat and her mind to race at the possibilities.
“Hime,” he murmured. The way he said her name was like an urgent plea. It caused her stomach to swoop down like she was on an out of control rollercoaster. She waited on baited breath as he gathered his thoughts.
Ichigo’s mind was restless. His need to put into words how he felt about her, loved her, desired her rushed through and permeated the recesses of his brain. He should’ve been used to the intensity of it by now, but he most certainly wasn’t. The way she watched him gave him strength to form the words, stilling the overbearing thoughts warring to leave his mouth.
“I want to kiss you,” he whispered. His simple response was anything but, knowing deep down that this could make or break their friendship. The smile she gave him nearly shut down his brain entirely.
“What took you so long?” Orihime breathed before Ichigo’s mouth was on hers, his lips holding nothing back as kissed her with all the desperation and hunger of a man starved. The radiating joy splashed over the burning desire thundering through his veins.
Orihime parted her lips as she let out a sound that would’ve embarrassed her outside of this situation. Instead, she felt exhilarated to an immeasurable degree. Her body quaked at the reverence and pure heat he poured into it. It was as if the dam of years of keeping everything bottled up in fear of losing each other burst and flooded them all at once.
She clenched her fingers in his hair as he delved his tongue into her mouth. Orihime felt her body fight between melting and being drawn taught, like a string on a bow. Ichigo’s hands slid down to her hips, flexing and gripping at her flannel pajama pants and flesh. She angled her head when he held her firmly, seeking out his tongue with her own.
Ichigo was quickly lost in the taste of her skin, the sounds she made and the feel of her. His nerve endings felt like they had caught fire. It was a sensory overload in everything Orihime. If he didn’t think he was greedy before, he certainly was now.
~~~(TBC)~~~
I certainly hope you all liked this! I should have the chapter finished bit up fairly soon. Thanks so much for reading!
Also— I’m uncertain why this isn’t showing up in the tags, so I’ll try it again.
Blue Fire Tree
Prompt: Everlasting (last day omgggg) | Gift for @tinaillustrations ! Hope you like this fluffy piece! I enjoyed writing this one. 🤗| Happy HitsuHina Week! @hitsuhina-week 💛💙
“Fire trees should be blue not red,” Ichika mumbles while filling in the traced pattern of the tree on the canvass as Hinamori gathers her unruly red mane into a semblance of a bun. Her charge was a Shinigami apprentice and had the hodgepodge attitude of both of her parents. She was sarcastic, blunt, inquisitive, passionate, and kind.
Renji thought she was the best person to teach his daughter common spells to start off her training. Not that Hinamori disliked being the resident kido expert. She particularly loved the monicker, but there were times she felt she didn’t deserve the title. Like today when, for some other reason, Ichika and her was blindsided by arts and crafts.
“Wouldn’t you like the flowers to resemble your hair?” Hinamori clips the last of the strands and looks over the child’s shoulder. The colors spill out of the lines and the scenery seems to change from summer to winter.
“But blue is the hottest color. Imagine trees blooming with the brightest flames, the most intense warmth, and the most lasting flowers.” Ichika finishes the piece with a last dash of blue paint. The apprentice turns to her and asks, “Does it look so desolate?”
“No, not really. To me, winter has always been warm.“
Someone coughs behind them to get their attention. Hitsugaya Toushiro, captain of the 10th Division, stands awkwardly at the entrance of the dojo with a tray of tea and pot of biscuits. It doesn’t escape her notice that he used the tea set she gave last Christmas, and this observation makes her feel giddy inside.
Maybe I’m just appreciative of people who use my gifts, Hinamori justifies to herself.
“Hello, Captain Hitsugaya. Is that for us or for Vice-Captain Momo?” Ichika greets him as she takes the tray off his hands.
The blush creeps on the captain’s face just as quickly as his brows furrow in annoyance. He quickly glares at the mischievous remark of Ichika and redirects his gaze to his equally flustered childhood best friend. “This was not of my own good will. I was threatened by Byakuya to take good care of his precious niece, and it just so happens that this space is under my jurisdiction.”
Hinamori tilts her head in a slight apology. “I hope we don’t bother you too much. Would you like to join us for some art session? Ichika loves to paint today.”
He almost says something, but he stops himself. His stance goes from alert to rigid, and tension fills the air. “Maybe some other time.” Ichika glances from her current teacher to the captain and back to her teacher again.
“Oh, sorry for taking up your time.” Hinamori slightly bows, unsure of what transpired just now, and Hitsugaya nods in return. Before he is completely out of her sight, she calls out to him again.
“Shiro-chan?” He glances back at the sound of his nickname. “Thanks for the tea.”
He smiles in mild annoyance before he flash-steps out of their sight. “It’s Captain Hitsugaya to you.”
--------------------------
“Something’s bothering you,” Rangiku says to Hinamori as she slides beside her in the ramen booth. “Your treat in exchange for my wisdom.” She proceeds to order her usual ramen and sake combo.
“How was your trip to the Land of the Living?” Hinamori asks, obviously skirting the issue she wishes to raise.
“Kazui is subdued and gentle like his mother, but somehow, he manages to get into fights with bullies on the street. It’s his Ichigo genes.” The combo meal arrives along with two shot glasses. “How are you doing with the chaotic devil spawn Ichika?”
“She’s progressing really fast with the kido, but she gets so distracted easily. It’s cute though that Renji and Rukia are not pressuring her. Great parents. How nice it must be.”
Rangiku side-eyes her while slurping the thick noodles. “How nice what now – “
Hinamori plays with her empty bowl and fidgets with her chopsticks. “To not be alone.”
She chokes on her noodles and quickly downs half of the sake bottle. “Oh, this is great news! I have someone on my mind who would like to be in your company forever.”
Hinamori gives no response and instead continues fiddling with her bowl. “How nice it is to be also like Shiro-chan, content and busy enough to be single. How do I become like your captain, Rangiku?”
The smile fades from the woman’s face and is replaced by a bustling vein near her temple. “I’m sorry what did that short man do or say to you?”
“I asked him if he would like to do some art with us, you know, help me with babysitting for a few minutes, but he literally stiffened like a stick. Seems like he doesn’t want to waste time with kids or do any family-related activities. Or maybe he’s just too busy, captain duties and all.”
And yet he took the time to bring you tea, a voice screams inside her mind.
“That’s….rude,” an exasperated Rangiku remarks. She pours a glass for Hinamori and decides on a plan. “Unless you’re seeing him as….?”
“Huh? Oh no no no.” Hinamori downs the liquid in one gulp, suddenly embarrassed by her friend’s insinuation. “We’re just friends, childhood friends. I…don’t see Shiro-chan that way.”
“Sure, whatever you say Momo. Do you want me to introduce you to some people?”
Hinamori looks up at her, doe-eyed.
“I guess that’s a yes.”
--------------------------
Hinamori actually forgot about her request to Rangiku as she and her student started to settle in a rather serious kido training. The plan apparently was set to happen after a week when she came across a bulletin announcing her quest for a perfect match through a one-day interview application. This was the first time Hinamori wanted to be swallowed by the void and never return to Seiretei.
She finds herself visiting Division 10 HQ every afternoon but to no avail since coincidentally, Rangiku has some errands to do in Karakura, and won’t be back until the date of the interview. Or maybe it has also something to do with Hinamori avoiding Hitsugaya and having to do all the explaining. And so she had no choice but to wait for the inevitable day.
“Uhhh Vice-Captain Matsumoto, you said introduce, not organize a whole dating screening process!” Hinamori’s voice goes a pitch higher for each word, but Rangiku is too busy arranging the people lining up to notice her.
Her current captain, Shinji Hirako, chuckles beside the blondie, amused by the growing line of eligible Shinigami singles in their HQ. “You are quite the eye candy in our division, huh. Didn’t expect you’d have this many suitors.” He squeezes his vice-captain’s shoulder as form of reassurance. “You should have told me, Hinamori. I could have set you up in an arranged marriage.”
“Captain, that’s atrocious!” Hinamori protests. She walks over to Rangiku to disperse the line, but Yumichika and Ikkaku move to her side and grabs her midway through her litany of objections. They lead her to a makeshift container with two chairs facing each other and a table in between.
“This is ridiculous,” Hinamori mumbles her breath, her energy already defeated by the two dumbasses in front of her.
“Well to be fair, Hinamori, this is a long time coming,” Yumichika says.
“And the result necessitates this kind of method so stop mumbling and screen your admirers, babe,” Ikkaku supplies. Irritated, Hinamori chases them off with two fireballs.
The first ten Shinigami ‘applicants’ were too insufferable as they were clearly aiming for the prestige of her position.
“If dating a vice-captain would give me a higher seat in Gotei 13 then why am I still single?” she bats the question to the 11th person who sat across her. When they didn’t give her an answer, she sighs, “Next please.”
“Would you know what’s my favorite brand of tea?”
“Uhh, Robusta.”
“I believe that’s coffee. Next please.”
“Hello, vice-captain Hinamori, I brought you peaches. They’re my favorite.”
“I’m allergic to them. I’m sorry. Next please?”
“What are your strengths?”
“Well, I can do shunpo.”
“That’s basic Shinigami skills.”
“…………..”
“…………..”
“I’ll see myself out. Thank you for your time, vice-captain.”
“I know you’re traumatized by Aizen-“
The container collapses as Hinamori summons Tobiume.
--------------------------
“I think I will be forever alone.” Hinamori looks on as her fellow vice-captains clean up the mess she incurred over the unfinished statement earlier.
“I’m really sorry if I did the whole thing over the top,” Rangiku tells her sincerely. She hugs the raven-haired girl and waits in silent for the commotion to die down. “Though the last one was really foul, and you were valid to be angry.”
“I was afraid I’d burn down Captain Shinji’s quarters.”
“You can, just to piss him off. The whole process is so draining, huh?” Hinamori nods at the observation. Rangiku continues, seemingly voicing her own thoughts, “It’s hard to put yourself out there especially when they don’t know batshit about you. Would be easier if you have common interests or when they’re already your friend.”
The last phrase is said so pointedly that Hinamori’s mind automatically pictures Hitsugaya. She runs along with her imagination. How easy it would be indeed to spend the rest of her life with him. And as if her mind conjured him, the 10th Division Captain comes into view alongside Ichika. It looks like her student dragged him to the unfortunate event.
There’s an angry glint in his eyes that Hinamori noticed. It was the torn expression he wore when she wounded her knees back when they were kids, the same frown when she told him she would kill for the traitor, the same worried eyes when she almost died. But his eyes refuse to meet hers.
“You missed all the fun, Captain.” Rangiku stretches out her arms as she stands up. She gestures for the rest of their friends to come nearer so they could re-group and go home. “It was a bad plan, and I owe Hinamori one. So we’re kinda ready for your scolding.”
Hitsugaya stays silent throughout the shuffling of his fellow Shinigami, in fact he remains frozen for too long that Ichika elbows him to get a response out of him. “Come on, you ruminated one week for this, and I had to physically stop you from harassing the interested applicants.”
“Shut up, Ichika,” the silver-haired captain mutters.
“I’ll tell on you to Uncle Byakuya!” the redhead sticks out her tongue and runs over to the side of Rangiku.
More annoyed than ever, Hitsugaya grunts and storms off towards Hinamori. “I’m not here to scold anyone. I’m here for the….dating application,” he gulps amid the collective gasps that ran through the group and the muffled laughter of Rangiku who clearly foresaw this.
“Well, what can I say, but fucking finally!” The blonde swigs a new bottle of wine from inside her robes and goes to do a little crowd control.
Hinamori’s eyes get a little bit bigger, and she stares at him with mouth agape, but she lets him grab her hand, in a gentle manner that he usually does, and brings her to the farthest fire tree in the area.
“Shiro-chan, what did you mean……” She continues to stare at his hand who somehow refuses to let go of her yet.
Ironically, he is also staring at the same hand, unsure whether to let go right now before he can actually say something. “I don’t know why you had to go through all of that.”
“I’m..I’m still confused, to be honest. It was just a passing feeling of loneliness, and I rambled to Rangiku which she took seriously….” Hinamori knows she is starting to word vomit out of nervousness, but she halts when he finally lets her go. Maybe she has misunderstood his presence again.
Hitsugaya raises his palm to her. “Would you let me…uhhh…word vomit this time?”
She slowly nods, rather shocked at his insistence, and even more so when he chooses to ramble.
“Momo, I have a cold reiatsu. My touch is never warm. But I know you like green tea, steeped in warm water for exactly 10 minutes, and that you don’t put sugar. You are afraid of storms, and you need a blanket around you to calm down. You like watermelon, but I think it’s because I subjected you to multiple summers of conditioning. You’re my childhood best friend. You’re hardworking. You are a kido expert. You earned your right to be a vice-captain, and you’ll do greater things.
And I know it’s not enough to say that I know you, I’ve always known you, but will it be enough for you to allow me to stay beside you?”
Hinamori leans against the trunk of the fire tree, breathless from his train of words. “Oh my god, this is too overwhelming. I thought you hated being not single.”
“What?” Hitsugaya looks at her with a puzzled expression.
“You don’t like Ichika. Or doing art…with kids.”
“Well, Ichika is a brat to me, but she’s a good student and will be a good Shinigami like her parents.” He nurses his temples for the growing headache. “Momo, listen to me.” He steps closer to her and makes sure she’s only looking at him. “I panicked because I visualized you and me….and you know. It wasn’t right when I haven’t even told you anything yet.”
“Oh.” The moment of realization dawns on her. “Oh, that’s great.”
“So we can finally go back to how we were.” Hitsugaya lets out a shaky breath as he sits on the grass and watches as the red petals of the fire tree shower them lightly.
A blushing Hinamori crouches down to his level. “Well, not quite. You should know, Shiro-chan, your reiatsu has always been warm and comforting to me.” She reaches out to take his hand and intertwines their fingers.
Hitsugaya smiles as he silently thanks himself that he outgrew her by two inches so he could easily slip a kiss on her forehead. “It’s Captain Hitsugaya.”
--------------------------
Ichika tries to see beyond the wall of spectators but Rangiku is not letting anyone through. She huffs indignantly, wanting to know whether her incessant prodding and pestering of the oblivious Hitsugaya bore some fruit. She has no choice but to juice out all the details later on from her uncle.
On second thought, maybe she won’t have to. Blue petals swayed with the light breeze of the wind, and on the far edge of the Fifth Division’s HQ is a lone blue fire tree.
