The Bunker Party - January Debrief

Hey my darlings!

So, The Bunker Party was back with a bang for the first month of 2021 and it was so nice to see so many wonderful and beautiful faces, new and old, on the stream. I have so much stuff to share with you, my fingers will ache once I’ve finished typing it all.

The stream was just amazing. It was filled with fun, laughter, and so many of you sharing your love for all things Supernatural. Seriously, SPN does have THEE best fandom and I’m so glad to be a part of it.

6 hours we were hanging out for! To see so many beautiful faces, hear so many lovely voices and to spend time with all you guys was just a dream! The support from everyone for each other, the love in this fandom; I can’t express how much I adore it.

I love holding these events and as I mentioned last night, the next one will be in February (date to be announced) and I’m already looking forward to seeing so you all again.

She’s currently posting Happiness Continued (the sequel to Happiness Begins) which is nearing it’s end *sobs* BUT we were spoiled to some spoilers and information about what’s coming next. @superfanficnatural: Mert has took some time away from the writing world but nothing could keep him from showing his fantastic self on our livestream. He’s has finally gotten back into his writing thanks to much encouragement ;) and is chipping away at the next add for his series The Choice. We’re super proud of him.

so basically, it was probably somewhere between 3-4am and i decided to text grace sk8 headcanons rather than sleep, as one does, and i went:

"joe unironically watched supernatural and that’s part of the reason why he and cherry broke up

(maybe joe just thought dean was attractive—sue him!)"

and uh... it was supposed to be a joke but then grace agreed with me sooooooo joe is obsessed with spn but he is angry about the destiel italian dub (which cherry rubs in his face like. all the time) and he was a destiel shipper from the moment he first saw them interact.

joe once tried flirting with cherry by saying "i'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition" and cherry threw him out of his own apt

(and maybe he sees a little bit of himself in dean and a little bit of cherry in cas, so what?)

and he got upset around season eleven but literally Cannot stop watching because it was his thing, ya know? he was dean for halloween once.

i headcanon joe with depression and have Many Feelings about that, but when he has really bad depressive episodes or cherry can tell one is coming (if he can catch it, that is), then cherry crawls in bed with him and turns joe's comfort spn episodes on (and i just decided that the one who would be king is another one of joe's comfort episodes (it reminds him a little of cherry and ad*m sometimes, the good old days)

he also just has a lot of good memories revolving around the show. in my joe with depression universe, joe hot diagnosed after he graduated, so whenever he felt really sad in high school and such, spn was his go to and it became an anchor for him in a lot of ways and provided comfort and this feeling of home he struggled to find when he was really sad.

he can also acknowledge that it is not the greatest show ever with the best writing and teh best acting, but that's something he likes about it. he likes that the show is sometimes so stupid it's funny.

but, yeah. joe was a hardcore destiel shipper. it was probably his lockscreen at some point and maybe even one of his first introductions to homosexuality. he read a lot of destiel fanfiction and joe is not the biggest fan of reading.

cherry to this day still teases him for unironically liking spn and for crying when the spanish dub came out

also joe never straight up wrote destiel fanfiction, but he definitely daydreamed about it

langa, on the other hand, did write destiel fanfiction and posted it. but that is another story for another time, i suppose.

now i'm thinking about joe and langa having spn nights at joe's apt or at langa's house and they watch their favorite episodes and :) bonding :)

Name: Katelyn, but most people call me Kate, Katie or sometimes even Kat.

Age: 27

Location: Originally from Kansas, but have been located in Upstate NY for the last six years.

Why did you choose your URL: It’s usually the username that I use for everything and if I’m being honest, I’m not very creative when it comes to titles or names. Lol. I’ve been meaning to change it; I just need to decide on what.

What inspired you to become a writer: Well, when I was in middle school (maybe seventh or eighth grade), my best friend and I decided to write a story together and post it on a fanfiction site (Can’t remember the site name, though.) And I just loved it. We never did finish that story. Lol. But eventually I started branching out and found some roleplay writing sites.

How long have you been writing: Started writing in middle school (2006/2007), but really got into it in 2009 with RP. However, September of this year (2020) was the first year I started really writing fics by myself and opening posting them.

What do you do when you are not writing i.e. Job/Hobbies etc? I work a lot, usually an average of 40+ hours a week; I am a manager at a popular food chain restaurant and on the weekends, a cashier at a gas station to provide a little extra cash for my family. When I’m not working, my time is spent with my two kids; Alekzander (Zander) who just turned five this past November and Lincoln (Link) who will be two in February. Outside of work and my family, I’m usually writing. Sometimes if I’m feeling extra creative or inspired, I’ll create a few crackships for couples I really enjoy. Lol.

How long have you been in the SPN Fandom? I actually found Supernatural around the same time I started writing, so back in ninth grade, so 2008/2009. It was honestly an accident too, because I was searching for Smallville episodes (I have an unhealthy addiction to Superman and DC/Marvel.) and stumbled upon an ad for Supernatural. Was instantly intrigued and fell in love. Seasons 1 - 5 (the Kripke era) are my favorite.

Are you in any other fandoms and do you write for them? Oh yea, I love TV shows and movies, and as I’ve already stated above, I love DC and Marvel. I’ve also written for Grey’s Anatomy and am willing to write for more, but SPN, DC and Grey’s are currently the only ones I’ve written for. I love The Vampire Diaries, One Tree Hill, Private Practice, Station 19, 9-1-1, Game of Thrones, The Witcher, Merlin, Dexter, Psych, and so, so many more. There are too many to list. Lol.

Do you do any writing outside of fanfiction? If so, tell us about it? Other than RPing, not really. I mean, I did try to do an original story with my friend when I was younger, but it never went anywhere. But I am willing to try someday.

Favorite published author: Other than the really big authors like; J.K. Rowling, George R.R. Martin, Jim Butcher, Nicholas Sparks, Suszanne Collins, I really like (and maybe it’s cliche) Stephenie Meyer. The Twilight Saga made me fall in love with reading and eventually, that love led me to writing. Those books hold a special place in my heart.

Have you ever read a book that made an impact on your life? Which one and why?: Well, I guess I sort of answered that one already. But there truly are so many amazing books out there and still so many more to discover.

Favorite genre of fanfic (smut, angst, fluff, crack, rpf, etc): Oh man, I’m not gonna lie, a majority of what I read is probably smut. But I am particularly fond of angst. I want you to make me cry. Really dig and stab into my emotions. Lol. And then come back in with some fluff. Haha.

Favorite piece of your own writing: Well, that would have to be Sweet Cherry Pie because it was really the first piece I’ve ever finished and published online. It was inspired by an RP that I am currently involved in and they are my favorite couple in said RP. It got so much positive feedback after I shared it that it inspired me to keep writing. I was so nervous about posting it, but I am glad I did.

Most underrated fic you have written: Oh I’m not sure. Maybe Love Bites. I am a sucker for Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries crossovers. I really loved writing this fic and am eager to write more.

Story of yours that you’d most like to see turned into a movie/tv show: Oh damn, um, it’d be cool to see any of them like that. But maybe Sweet Cherry Pie or Out of the Fire (my firefighter!Dean series).

Favorite Tumblr Writer(s): There are so many, but I usually find myself reading work from; @impala-dreamer, @katehuntington @deanwanddamons, @muchamusedaboutnothing.

Favorite Fic from another writer: This one is tough because there are so many amazing fics out there, especially ones that I adddddore; but if forced to choose, one story that will always stick with me would have to be Treacherous by @idkhaylijah OR The Sullivan Series by Kate Huntington

Favorite character to write: Dean Winchester. I adore Dean and he’s probably the easiest for me to write. I have written the most fics with him and I portray him often in the RPs that I do.

Favorite Pairing to write: Dean with anyone, but my favorite would be Dean x Caroline.

Least favorite character to write (and why): That’s a tough one, cause there’s not really any that I’m uncomfortable with or dislike writing. Maybe characters with accents, because I don’t really know how to capture that in writing yet? I’m pretty open with my writing and am willing to try mostly anything.

Do you have anyone you consider a mentor? Oh definitely. When I first started RPing, there was another girl (Jocelyn) that I used to write with and she influenced a lot of my writing. She was older than me and had more experience and gave me a lot of tips on how to get better. She is an amazing writer and had the potential of going far with it, but life happens and unfortunately, she doesn’t write anymore. But she is booming on Youtube, so that’s pretty impressive. It’s pretty cool to see how far she’s come.

Do you have any aspirations involving your writing? I used to want to be a journalist when I was younger, but other than that, not really. I just want to have fun with it and write something meaningful for someone, and always improve and get better.

How many work-in-progress stories do you have: I have a few ideas jotted down, maybe ten, but I haven’t actually started any of them. I have so many bingo cards I need to finish, but with my work schedule, it’s been pretty crazy.

What are you currently working on? My main project is Out of the Fire.

“Pond Diving” - All About The Writing

What/who has had the biggest influence on your writing? Definitely the RPing that I’ve done and am currently doing. My friend Alesha has been the longest RP partner that I’ve had and her writing is phenomenal - and it helps a lot too when your mind's work in similar ways; her and I always seem to be on the same wavelength when it comes to writing. I love it. But like me, she has a very busy schedule and writing is limited.

Best writing advice you've been given: Have fun with it, write what you want to write and always be open to helpful criticism. And don’t stress about it, either. Write in your own time. It’s meant to be fun, not stressful.

Biggest obstacle you’ve faced in your writing: Just finding the time to write and getting over being so self conscious about my writing. I don’t let anyone in my real life read what I write.

What aspects of writing do you find difficult when you write fanfiction? Just capturing the personalities of the canon characters sometimes; if it’s a character I’m not used to writing, I worry about portraying them the right way. And I have trouble individualizing the characters (separating them from myself/my own personality), like when I create an OC for an RP, sometimes when I have too many, their personalities all become the same in ways (if that makes sense?). And accents. I have trouble with accents. Oh, and fight/action scenes. They take me a bit.

Is there anything you want to write but are afraid to (and why): I am always going to be afraid, no matter what it is that I’m writing, because I worry about it succeeding. I want to write for other fandoms though, I guess, but like I said, I worry about capturing the characters right and having a decent storyline that is unique.

What inspires/motivates you to write: Honestly, positive feedback. I love hearing what people think about my writing and it motivates me to continue.

How do you deal with self-doubt: That’s a tough one. I guess I just look towards my writing friends or beta’s for reassurance or I go back and read the positive comments and likes on the fics I’ve already shared. It encourages me to continue.

How do you deal with writer's block: I usually listen to music and I’ll look up gifs of my favorite characters, create stories in my head with those gifs or I’ll create gif sets of specific scenes. If that doesn’t work, I’ll take a break and watch one of my favorite TV shows for inspiration.

Do you plan/outline your story before you start: For my RPs, I have a group chat with those I’m writing with and we usually shoot ideas back and forth, but mostly we wing it. For my fics, I normally just wing it, but with Out of the Fire, I have a rough idea of what I want from each part. With that said, my ideas or plans often change as I’m writing. These characters have a mind of their own sometimes. Lol.

Do you have any weird writing habits: I don’t know about any weird habits, but I always have music on and I guess I have to do it in spurts. I’ll write a few paragraphs or sentences, pause and scroll tumblr or facebook or gifs, and then go back, reread what I wrote and then write a few more. Rise and repeat.

Have you ever received hateful comments on your fic and how do you deal with it? So far, no I haven’t, and I hope I don’t ever have to deal with that. But I know it’s bound to happen. I guess if I were to ever encounter that, I’d like to say that I’ll take it as a learning experience but I honestly don’t know I’d feel about that.

Conversely: what’s been some of your favorite feedback on your fanfic? Oh man, I guess my favorite would have to be ellewritesfix05 reaction to the secret santa fic I wrote for her; Dean Fucking Winchester. And all the positive feedback I’ve gotten for Out of the Fire.

If you could give one piece of advice to a new and/or struggling writer, what would it be? Have fun with it. Write what you want and what you’re comfortable with. Don’t be afraid of constructive criticism and most importantly, don’t stress. Writing is fun.

musings about the SPN finale

I haven’t used Tumblr in years. Years. But I felt like I had to come here to find the kind of solidarity I need after the ending of Supernatural. I didn’t expect to be so upset about the ending of this show, but wow, I am. I thought I would talk a little bit about that here.

I started watching Supernatural when I was 13, almost 7 years ago. I caught up to the seasons stored on Netflix, then watched weekly until the 3rd episode of Season 11, when I stopped. I thought that Season 11 was straying too far from the Supernatural that I knew and loved, and so I decided I was done with the show. This year -- because I knew the finale was coming -- I decided to rewatch the entire series and finish it. I am simultaneously glad and upset at myself for picking it back up.

On the one hand, I’m glad I got to meet characters like Eileen and Jack, revisit old favorites like Jody and Claire and Lucifer, and otherwise follow Sam, Dean and Castiel as they grew. On the other hand, the finale crushed me. And I don’t mean that it just pissed me off or made me cry. Days after watching it, I’m still hurting. I even had a nightmare about it.

I did not expect that kind of reaction, honestly. As I said, until this summer it had been four years since I’d seen a single episode of Supernatural. And I was 15 then. Now I’m almost 20. But these characters were so dear to me when I was young, and they left a deep mark.

Dean was always my favorite character. I loved the values he stood for. Loyalty. Sacrifice. Protection. Love. Family. I wanted so badly to see him get the happy ending he deserved, to start a new family. To get a normal job. To take a fucking vacation. To grow old with his little brother. For me, someone who struggled in a low-income rural household all my life, it was refreshing to see someone as tortured as Dean find his happy ending. I needed to see someone who had all the odds stacked against him, literally by God, to win. If he could do it, why couldn’t I?

And so, as you might imagine, the finale was extremely traumatic for me. I can’t even really explain the pain I felt watching this character who was so close to his home-run, his end game, his happy ending, lose it all. To see this character who’d fought God die during his last hoorah.

What a slap in the face.

Not just to me or the rest of the fans. Not just to Dean, who certainly deserved way fucking better. But what about Jensen? What about the rest of the cast and crew? My heart hurts when I think about him (and all the other cast, honestly) who have received and continue to receive hate online. I can’t imagine what it must be like to put your heart and soul into something for 15 years. To create a new person from yourself. To create a best friend for yourself and millions of fans from thin air and then see it all crumble around you. And then to be blamed for it.

I know that Jensen, Jared, Misha, and the rest of the crew will never see this post, but I need to tell them I’m sorry. I’m sorry this happened to you. I’m sorry you’ve been treated this way, by both the SPN show runners and by your “fans.” In many ways, you’ve been betrayed. This is not your fault, and anyone who thinks it is needs to do some soul-searching.

Ultimately, art is for the artist. The cast chose to make the show for the fans. They didn’t have to care about us at all. They didn’t have to ask for our input. But they did. They tried as hard as anyone could -- Jensen outwardly condemned the finale -- and they don’t deserve the way the writers, producers, and fans are treating them. Come on guys, you bullied Jim Beaver off Twitter. What the fuck is wrong with you?

Anyway, I hope in their hearts the cast knows we have their backs. I hope they know that it’s not their fault and that most of us don’t blame them (and that the people who do blame them are assholes). I wish I could say this to them in person, but I’m sure their family and friends have already said it enough.

Dean Winchester will always be one of the most important fictional characters I’ve encountered in my life. He’s shaped my adolescence and early adulthood, and he will live on -- in my mind -- as he should have. I’ve decided the finale was a bad dream, a trick, an unfortunate example of fanfiction being put to screen.

And, once final exams end, I’m going to write my perfect ending.

I’ll post my ending to Tumblr, probably, if you want to read it (thanks if you’ve read this far at all!). But ultimately this fanfiction is for me. I actually haven’t written fanfiction for almost five years, but right now I know I need to. And that’s okay. I’ve claimed these characters as my own, for they exist in me now. In my mind and in my heart.

For me, the writers are Chuck. And Chuck fucking sucks. That’s it.

That thing has a big lurid heart on his overalls better run lol— Oh shit it’s an evil Teddy Ruxpin!!!! Thanks Davy Perez!!!!

That’s the thing animal control uses to manage aggressive animals??? Is this saying something about the Patchwork people?

Okay there was definitely a beat after Dean said “Glad soneone’s taking charge” [ofHell] and the focus shifted to Sam. Hm.

“We’ve got to set her up for her own death” so meta, these writers are gonna shred us.

I love being shown how much Castiel has changed throughe Jack not understanding the Kool-Aid reference. And the cats line lol. That’s both amazing and poignant.

That’s a log cabin pattern in the cafeteria. Home. Makes me think back on other quilts we’ve seen this season and if “weaving” is the right metaphor for writing lol. I mean, the action of “patching” is synonymous with “mending” or even healing, but patchwork is also a craft with a long, long history in America (idk if quiltmaking is called patchwork everywhere) of taking a few often mismatched fabrics and cutting and sewing into something beautiful. There are generally two kinds of quilt tops— patterns, like we’ve seen so far in this season, which are carefully planned and involve precise measurements, and “crazy quilts” which also require skill but are often more freeform and piecemeal. But both aspire to be beautiful. That’s an interesting way to conceptualize a serial text... as both creating and mending....

That prayer was sweet and not at all what I was expecting.

I get the finger-cutting for Valerie (stealing=sticky fingers) but not for Connor? Tenuous connection still betw lying and writing? It’s evocative of Se7en but the killer seems to have the same MO for all the killings (I attended CSI for a while.)

Snow White is making me uneasy. Oh she’s the preacher’s daughter... we’ve seen that in early days, too.... oh.... oh....

It’s not the AV guy despite having seen all the AV equipment around Valerie. That’s too easy.

Okay I finished it. Holy cats do I have some Thoughts about this episode.

What I loved: Revisiting Dean’s anger, BUT the parental mirror here (in retrospect, at least for me) was a John mirror-- all the mothers (exc for Rowena) in this episode are dead. And Pastor Joe didn’t apparently embrace his wife’s faith until she had died, and then his vision was radically different than his wife’s was-- much like John’s reasons for becoming a hunter were vastly different from Mary’s... but much like “patching” this subtext was possibly even more “healing” than having John back in the 300th ep... This was... looking at a child’s anger when they’re in the middle of their own family mythology. Am I implying that Dean’s anger is immaturity? Eh, it’s... unripeness. I have an old meta in my drafts about the heroine’s journey and why Mary’s story conformed to it while feeling totally unfulfilling in her actual character arc and I’m so glad I sat down and examined that rather than finish it. I have a lot I want to say about Cas’ testimony too, but that has to sit a while. ALSO also, Cas has already thrown away his shot by making the Empty deal, right?....

LANGUAGE! Cas saying “I found myself lost” is a bonkers sentence, right? It’s like when people say someone “turned up missing”-- AND it does not have the same meaning as “I realized I was lost”-- you get a double whammy of the connotation “to search for.” I loved loved loved how language was such a big deal in Last Holiday and then again here, I need to rewatch while paying closer attention to Sylvia and things she says... but these two were sister episodes in so many ways, that when I said there was a “lack of narrative mirrors” in Last Holiday, that’s only because the lens for that kind of reading is Gimme Shelter. That is not the first time spn has played with a “coin” or paired structure-- I think the first time I noticed it was Fan Fiction/Ask Jeeves but I was a transfer student from another fandom at the time lol. But of course, we get a huge truth bomb at the end of the episode, and again that splashy cymbal all over lying...

What I got wrong-- Zack wasn’t the killer but he’s fishy as hell-- he stole Sylvia! Is this part of Rowena’s “people generally end up where they deserve to be” except she’s built in an express lane? “Do you need a driver” is that his actual job now? Taking unripe souls to Hell Orientation? What’s up with him being there... the other shoe did not drop. So there is a third episode out there somewhere where this might get wrapped up? The conversation between Dean and Cas can easily be something that happens offscreen, and I don’t think that it would be the first time we miss an “important” conversation, especially since we know roughly what will be said and how it will wrap up-- it’s an “open text” of a sort. Maybe a fanfiction gap lol, I can’t wait for the codas.

Also, the fingers thing being Sylvia’s father’s favorite analogy is where she got her MO, something that I definitely didn’t see, although it fits right in with her father’s slightly pithy character. I think it’s interesting again how we’re playing with threes and fours. Three fingers got cut off but it was apparent that Valerie (valorious one) wouldn’t die until finger #4.... Jack really seems to be our last hope.

“Fandom At The Crossroads: Celebration, Shame and Fan/Producer Relationships” By Katherine Larsen and Lynn S. Zubernis

(217-222 pg) Of course, the people most often starring in fanfiction, both in character form and “real person” fiction, are Jared and Jensen. Fans spend a significant amount of time worrying about what the actors think of this particular fannish practice, as we’ve seen. Padalecki was surprised by how many fans liked to think about him and his costar together in a more than friendship way, but more amused than scandalized.

Padalecki: I was not expecting that. It’s so abundantly clear that we are not homosexual, that there’s anything wrong with those who are, but it’s so strange to me. … Platonically, I know they enjoy that we are great friends, because we ARE great friends, and that comes across, and that I can understand. I think you can tell when someone’s having fun on camera. That’s why Oceans 11 did so well, because it just looked like they were having such a fun time. They’re goofing around and it’s fun to watch and see people really laughing and having a good time. The other part, I don’t really understand so I have no theory other than, I don’t know, maybe boredom?

What about the analogous stereotype that guys find the idea of two good looking women together hot?

Padalecki: Sure, oh sure. I see. I can see that, but I think the reason it’s so funny is that it’s so far from reality. I’m just like what? But sure, you know, of course, yeah – to me it might be bizarre, but whatever floats their boat. I’m glad y’all asked me about that, because it’s one thing I don’t really understand, and not having any experience with the human mind, or the ins and outs, it’s bizarre, it’s one of the things you go “alright…”. I guess I will choose to take it as flattery.

It seems to be just that. After all, a significant number of SPN fans are bisexual or lesbian women, and they refer to Jared and Jensen as their 5% exception, which is a certainly a compliment.

Padalecki: I’ll take it (grinning). It makes a lot of sense if there are a lot of bisexual or gay or lesbian fans that they would sort of turn it into their world.

There followed a discussion of the difference between believing something is factual versus a nice fantasy, which is how most fans enjoy their version of J-Squared – a distinction that Padalecki understood completely. For example, the fans loved that Jared and Jensen were, at the time, living together.

Padalecki: (laughing) I guess I figured they would. And it’s great, we’re pretty similar guys. After a long day it’s like hey man, you want to go like grab a beer, or go to sleep? He’s a good buddy. When times are hard for me, or I’ve got something I’m going through, it’s nice to be like hey man, can I just rattle with you for a little bit, rap about some stuff, and he’s like sure, and vice versa.

Ackles was also amused and slightly mystified about why some fans love to imagine him and Jared as a couple. Like Padalecki, he recognized the “subtext” present in their real life friendship, and talked about the genuine affection the two have for each other.

Ackles: (laughing) It’s strange, because you know, being who I am and being who he is, it’s like, it’s just hard to kinda wrap our minds around. I mean, I’ve had, I need two hands to count the number of roommates I’ve had. Guys I’ve spent a lot of time with, like my best friends. I may not work with them, but we’re together at home and we’ll go out together, all the time and share each other’s problems. It’s affection, it’s a friendship that, for Jared and I – God, it’s a good friendship. I think with Jared and I, we knew right away it wasn’t going to work if we didn’t get along. The first season, I forget what episode it was, but we got heated on set and got in each other’s face and I mean, we went toe to toe. There were no fists thrown or anything like that, and he ended up taking a walk down the street and cooler heads prevailed, and when we got back to our trailers, I knocked on his door and sat down and I was like listen man, that can never happen again because if that’s the road we choose to go down, we are going to be living a different life. And it wasn’t just me, he was like actually on the same wavelength, like I’m glad you came by, I need to get this off my chest, we need to come together if we are going to make this show work, because we’re gonna be spending way too much time together to not have a friendship. And that’s the last fight we’ve ever had. We’ve got each other’s backs and I support him in the decisions he makes and will give him advice when he needs it, and he does the same for me. He went through a rocky thing this summer with his fiancee, and I was there for him for that. It almost turns into art imitating life, or life imitating art, we play brothers on screen but we’re kinda brothers off screen as well. It’s a brotherly love that he and I have.

Ackles too is well aware that fans can distinguish between fanfiction and reality, and don’t necessarily believe the costars share a sexual kind of love as well as a brotherly one. Like Kripke, he understands the existence of Wincest as a consequence of the passionate investment fans have in Sam and Dean’s relationship, and extends that to fans’ investment in the relationship he has with Jared in real life.

Ackles: I know they don’t (think it’s real) – it’s a hot fantasy. But I think, and you can probably help me out with this, that it might stem from their love of the two characters and how much they have invested in Sam and Dean, and there are really no other characters that they want coming into that realm. I think it’s their love for these two characters, they don’t want anyone to interfere. They want it to be just the two of them, all the time, and I think that’s where it stems from. I don’t think they really think we’re gay. So I really think it’s just the fact they are left with no other option when thinking of these two characters, and of course these guys are together. Though I wish that two guys can just be heterosexual males and still have a brotherly love. But that’s why it’s called fiction!

We asked Misha Collins about the other popular slash pairing in the fandom – the first Dean/Cas slash community was created 42 minutes after the character appeared.

Collins: (deadpans) Why do you think it took so long? Maybe the servers were down or something.

Collins is fine with the homoerotic vibe of parts of the fandom.

Collins: I certainly try not to be too homophobic in my real life and this is fiction on top of that, so it’s one degree further removed, so it’s easier.

Like the other actors who negotiate the boundaries between fiction and real life on a daily basis, Collins had no trouble understanding fan fiction as fiction. He would, however, like to turn the tables and incorporate fans, as he and his fellow actors have been incorporated.

Collins: I’ve been thinking about writing a story of my own about Dean and the fans and then I could post it out in the community.

Padalecki: I think the big thing that has drawn fans to the world of Supernatural is that each has turned it into their world. It’s no longer about guys on the road or hunting demons, it’s connected to some part of them that they might not even know exists. They’re like oh, it’s kinda like this! That’s one of the great things about mythology - the point is to reflect some part of your own life. So you start going Oh, Luke Skywalker kind of doesn’t know what he’s supposed to be, he’s kind of struggling, kind of like me, I’m having my own struggles.

The reading and writing of fanfiction as therapeutic resonated with Jared.

Padalecki: That makes plenty of sense. There’s no other logical reason. I don’t think any movie or show is that good to be so committed to it unless it’s sparked something in you.

In fact, Padalecki identifies the same desire for some healthy escape on the part of cast and crew as within the fandom watching and participating in the Show. That’s why so much laughing goes on between takes on the SPN set.

Padalecki: It’s almost like the same escapism that our fans are enjoying when they are watching, we are enjoying when we are filming. So it’s nice for them to call action and you just lose yourself for a minute.

Okay, so I've been on a bit of a Thomas Rhett music kick lately and I was listening to a bunch of his songs when I came across one called "Sweetheart". And, for some reason, our adorable Rob Benedict came to my mind. 💕

So yeah, I really like the song and hope you enjoy this piece of writing that it inspired! 😁

NOTE: In the little universe of this one-shot, it's Rob who's the one that wrote this song. 😁 You know, even though in our actual universe it's Thomas Rhett that wrote it. 🙂

Supernatural Master-List of FanFiction

"Thank you, Seattle!" Rob exclaimed into the microphone from where he stood on stage at SPN SeaCon with the rest of his bandmates. They had just finished singing 'Eskimo' and had the crowd pretty much pumped up like all the other times they played.

"It's always great to play for you guys, but we're gonna slow things down for this last song." Rob informed the crowd as he picked up his guitar while he and the rest of the Louden Swain guys got ready to play the next song.

"I don't mean to sound biased, but it's one that I think I would probably consider my favorite." Rob continued, smiling slightly. "It's one that I wrote for a very special someone around a year ago on our fifth wedding anniversary. I wish she was here right now so I could sing it to her directly, but she's back in LA with our two daughters. However, I have a feeling she's watching the livestream of this SNS concert. So, Y/N... this is for you."

Rob strummed his guitar as he began to play the song, letting his mind be consumed with all the memories that came along with it.

(A/N: These "memories" are not really in order. Some of them are, but some of them aren't. Whatever, you get it... Probably.)

Rob could never forget the first time he had met Y/N.

🎶Sweetheart🎶

"Okay, everyone, we can get started just as one more person gets here." Mike Rohl, the director for the episode they were about to start shooting (4x18 ~ The Monster At the End of This Book) said as he and everyone else sat around a large table for the read-through.

"Where is Y/N?" Misha whispered to Jared, nodding and indicating to an empty chair that stood between him and a new actor they had for the episode. His name was Rob Benedict and he was going to be playing a character by the name of Chuck Shurley.

"She said she might be running late this morning." Jared whispered back. "She has to pick up her dog from the vet. It stayed overnight from a surgery it had yesterday."

"Sorry I'm late, everyone!" Y/N exclaimed as she rushed into the room, making everyone look her way to see her with sunglasses on and a coffee in her hand and her script in the other as she walked over to where her designated place-card was in between Misha and a man she hadn't met before. "Traffic was hell."

"It's alright, Y/N/N. Glad you could finally join us." Jensen said, an amused smile on his face as she watched her sit down between Misha and Rob. "Y/N, I don't believe you've met Rob. Rob, Y/N. Y/N, Rob."

Y/N just rolled her eyes at Jensen's teasing before directing her attention to the curly-haired man that sat beside her, giving him a smile as she removed her sunglasses and set them beside her cup of coffee. "Y/N Y/L/N, otherwise known as Edith Singer."

Rob smiled back at her, shaking her outstretched hand as he ignored the sudden jolt of electricity that seemed to go through his body at the contact. "Rob Benedict."

🎶God could've never made two🎶

Y/N grinned at him, her (E/C) eyes shining brightly as she looked into his dazzling blue orbs while ignoring the knowing looks Jensen was giving Jared.

🎶Nobody quite like you🎶

Rob would never forget the first time he and Y/N woke up together after their third date.

🎶Woke up this morning, to your sleepy smile🎶

Rob stirred awake, his eyes fluttering open before gazing around the unfamiliar room to see clothes scattered carelessly around on the floor.

It suddenly 'clicked' as a sleepy smile spread across his face at the memory of the previous night before he turned his head to look at the woman lying next to him, her eyes barely open as she looked at him with an adorable sleepy smile.

"Morning." She mumbled softly as she scooted closer to him, cuddling into his side as she nuzzled her face into the crook of his neck.

Rob grinned, wrapping his arms around her.

"Morning." He said softly as he placed a kiss on the top of her head, content with just wasting the rest of the morning away with her in his arms.

Rob would definitely never forget when Y/N agreed to spending the rest of her life with him.

🎶I realized I haven't told you in a while🎶

"Where are you taking me?" Y/N giggled as Rob led her along a pier. They had just gotten done filming the Supernatural season five finale (5x22 ~ Swan Song) before Rob had basically dragged Y/N off set and drove her to the pier they were currently walking on.

"To the end of the pier to enjoy the sunset." Rob chuckled as they stopped at the end of the pier to stare out at the ocean, the sun just beginning to set on the horizon. He let go of Y/N's hand before walking around behind her and putting his hands on her shoulders as they stared at the sunset and its beautiful mix of colors of yellow, orange, pink and purple.

"See how the colors seem to mix with each other." Rob stated, his voice barely above a whisper as he spoke softly to Y/N. "Almost as if they were meant to be together."

"Mm." Y/N hummed in agreement, gently nodding her head once as she felt Rob's hands disappear from her shoulders.

"That's why I brought us out here." His voice came from behind her, making her turn around and cover her mouth in shock as she saw Rob down on one knee.

🎶That you're my life, you're my dream🎶

"Y/N Y/L/N, this past year with you has no doubt been the best year of my life." Rob told her, sincerity lacing his tone. "You have shown me what it means to live your life like there's no tomorrow."

"However, I would like for us to spend together the rest of the tomorrows we're able to get." He continued before snapping open the small black velvet box he held in his hand to reveal the vintage diamond engagement ring he had been holding in his possession for the past few months. "Will you marry me?"

🎶You're the reason for every song I sing🎶

Y/N sniffled, nodding her head as a few happy tears escaped the corners of her eyes. "Yes. Definitely, yes."

That adorable smile spread across Rob's face as he slipped the engagement ring onto the ring finger of her outstretched left hand before he stood back up and cradled her face in his hands and kissed her like there really would be no tomorrow.

(A/N: A bit of angst in this next memory!)

Rob would most definitely never forget one of the scariest times in his and Y/N's marriage.

It was after Rob had had his stroke. Y/N was four months pregnant with their second daughter, but had flown all the way to Toronto after Rich had called her and filled her in on everything that had happened.

🎶You're my rock, your my world🎶

"You know it's gonna be okay, right?" Y/N spoke, her voice soft and calming as she gently caressed Rob's hand with the tips of her fingers as he laid in the hospital bed. She gave a Rob reassuring smile. "The doctors said that it may take awhile for you to regain your speech, but that you're definitely gonna be on you're way to a full recovery."

Rob gave her a look as if silently saying "You can't know that for sure."

"Don't give me that look, Mr. Benedict." Y/N told him, grasping his hand in both of hers. "I might not be a doctor, but I am your wife. And I know that you're capable of doing things you think you're not capable of."

🎶Your my always and forever girl🎶

Rob sighed in frustration, leaning his back on the pillow as he wished he could respond with actual words. Y/N had always been so strong even in the toughest situations. And here she was, comforting him when she herself was having to deal with leaving their first daughter back in LA with her grandparents before then flying out to Toronto while being pregnant with their second daughter. She shouldn't be having to put so much stress on herself.

🎶Sweetheart🎶

"Stop thinking too much." Y/N chided him when she saw the far off look on Rob's face, bringing him back to reality. "You're gonna be fine. And before you know it, we're gonna be getting to hold this little munchkin in our arms."

🎶God could've never made two🎶

Rob tried to smile as best he could as Y/N stood from her chair beside the hospital bed before placing his hand against her small baby bump, their daughter giving a strong kick against where Rob now had his hand.

Rob tried not to think too much of that. It was a scary time in their marriage when they weren't really sure what was going to happen with Rob's health. Luckily he made a full recovery and spoke again just a couple weeks before Y/N went into labor and gave birth to their gorgeous second daughter.

Anyway, there were even more memories of his relationship with Y/N that Rob loved to think about. Like how playful she would sometimes got with him on set. You know, when their relationship was still relatively new.

Like the time they were in the middle of filming the Supernatural season five premiere (5x01 ~ Sympathy for the Devil).

🎶Woah, sweetheart

One kiss and I come unglued🎶

"Mmph." Rob made a noise as Y/N pushed him against the side of her trailer, away from prying eyes as she crashed her lips against his.

"Babe." He whispered against her lips. "They're looking for us. We need to get to hair and makeup."

🎶You are the reason, I fall to pieces🎶

"Mm-hm." She hummed against his lips before pulling away slightly and giving him the most devious smirk she could manage. "Isn't this so much more fun, though?"

Rob couldn't help but sigh helplessly as Y/N lips attached to the side of his neck, sucking in a dark purple mark that would definitely be difficult for the makeup artists to coverup.

🎶'Cause you're all that I adore🎶

"You know...." Rob spoke slowly before flipping the two of them around to where he had Y/N pressed up against the side of her trailer, his hands on either side of her head. "If you keep this up, we're gonna have to hide ourselves better so no one will find us as I do everything you're making me want to do to you."

Y/N couldn't help but grin at him, a twinkle in her eyes as Rob leaned in to press their lips together again.

Oh! One of Rob's most favorite memories was the day he and Y/N stood in front of all their friends and family as the two of them vowed to to love each other for the rest of their lives.

🎶You're the one my heart beats for🎶

"Do you, Rob, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do you part?" The minister asked as beside the couple.

Rob smiled, not taking his eyes off Y/N as he slid the wedding band onto her finger.

"I do."

"And Y/N..." The minister continued. "Do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do you part?"

Y/N smiled widely, a few happy tears escaping corners of her eyes. She locked her gaze with Rob as she slipped the wedding band on his finger.

"I do."

The minister smiled. "Then, by the power vested in me by the state of California, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Rob grinned, pulling Y/N closer and wrapping one of his arms around her waist and cupping the side her face with his free hand before leaning in and kissing her with so much passion and love. He tried to pour all the emotions he was feeling in that moment into that kiss.

Y/N responded in kind, sliding her hands to the back of his neck to deepen the kiss.

But as all dramatic, emotion-filled and romantic kisses go, the need for air will become necessary.

🎶And I can't believe you gave your sweet heart to me🎶

When they pulled apart, they leaned their foreheads together.

"I love you, Mrs. Benedict." Bruce whispered to where only Y/N could hear him.

She grinned at him. "I love you, too, Mr. Benedict."

Then there were the times that Rob liked to think about that just involved the two of them, at home and at ease.

🎶Yeah, you're sweet like chocolate🎶

"How much flour was I supposed to put in?" Rob quirked an eyebrow as he looked up from the bowl of ingredients that sat atop the kitchen island of his and Y/N home.

"Two cups." Y/N responded, poking her head into the kitchen from where was in the living room. "Why?"

"Well..." Rob trailed off, his gaze drifting from Y/N to the full bag of flour that was now in the bowl. "The whole bag might've just... slipped?"

"Seriously?" She giggled, coming into the kitchen to inspect the mess Rob had made. "What happened?"

"I was... distracted." He answered, not meeting her gaze as a slight blush spread across his cheeks.

"What distra–" Y/N began to ask, but cut herself off when she remembered Rob could see into the living room from the kitchen. "Robert Patrick Benedict, were you staring at my ass while I cleaned the coffee table?"

"No!" He immediately exclaimed, eyes wide.

Y/N grinned cheekily at him as she bent over the kitchen island, giving him the perfect view of her cleavage. "Am I really that distracting, Robbie?"

Rob gulped, biting his lip as he thought of a way to respond.

🎶Hot like sriracha🎶

"Screw it." He muttered before leaning over, taking ahold of her chin and pressing his lips against hers. "Bedroom, now. Baking can wait."

There was also this one other time Rob couldn't help but think about sometimes.

The time he had come to the Supernatural set to watch Y/N film her death scene. The last scene she would ever shoot as Edith Singer, the daughter of the already dead Bobby Singer.

🎶Yeah, girl you got me right in your back pocket🎶

"Edith, don't do this." Jensen (or Dean) said as he cradled her in his arms, Jared (or Sam) kneeling on the other side of them. It was just the three of them in this scene. No one else. "Please, don't do this to us. We can't lose you, too."

"You boys have... saved me... countless times." Y/N (or Edith) said tearfully, gasping for air. "I'm glad it... was me that... finally got... to save you... It's time for me... to see my Dad again."

That was the last thing Y/N (or Edith) said before the life faded from her eyes, her body going limp.

🎶You're smooth like whiskey, fine like wine🎶

And just a short time later, Rob stood behind Y/N, his arms wrapped around her waist as they stood behind the camera crew as they watched Jared (Sam) and Jensen (Dean) shoot the scene of them burning Y/N's (Edith's) body.

"That was a pretty powerful scene you did awhile ago." Rob whispered in her ear. "You sad it's over?"

🎶I love how you're making my blood sugar rise🎶

"Of course I am." She whispered back. "But, you know, I've got other things to make me happy now as well."

Rob lips curved into a small smile as his hands drifted to Y/N's very slight baby bump, his hands moving to the place where his and Y/N's first child was growing.

🎶Sweetheart🎶

Another memory Rob loved to think about was when he and Y/N were on their honeymoon.

🎶God could've never made two🎶

"You know, I know we're here for our honeymoon, but I wouldn't mind coming back again some other time as well." Y/N stated as she and Rob walked hand-in-hand along the beach's shoreline. "Oh, look!"

🎶Nobody quite like you🎶

Rob smiled in amusement as Y/N let go of his hand and walked quickly ahead of him a few steps, bending down to pick up a hermit crab.

"Look at him, he's adorable!" Y/N grinned as she let the small creature crawl across the palms of her hands.

"S'pose he's not too bad." Rob commented, walking up to his new wife as she held the hermit crab. "Should we name him?"

"Let's name him Richard Speight III." Y/N gasped excitedly, Rob throwing his head back in laughter at her suggestion.

🎶Woah, sweetheart

One kiss and I come unglued🎶

"I'm not sure how Rich would feel about that." Rob chuckled.

"Do you really care?" She quirked an eyebrow, smirking up at her new husband.

🎶You are the reason, I fall to pieces🎶

"Not a damn bit." He said, capturing her lips with his before pulling away and looking down at the hermit crab Y/N held in between them. "Let's take a picture and send it to Rich."

Y/N grinned at him.

"You read my mind."

Another memory Rob would never forget was one that could only compete with two other of his memories.

The day his and Y/N's first daughter was born.

🎶'Cause you're all that I adore🎶

"Hello, beautiful." Y/N whispered, gently caressing her and Rob's infant daughter's cheek with her thumb.

"Welcome to the world, Sophia Elizabeth Benedict." Rob spoke softly as he sat on the side of the bed, peering over Y/N's shoulder as they stared down at the tiny human they had created. "How much do you think Sebastian is going to love that her initials spell out 'Seb'?"

🎶You're the one my heart beats for🎶

"Like that man needs another boost to his ego." Y/N rolled her eyes before just giggling softly.

🎶And I can't believe you gave your sweet heart to me🎶

Rob chuckled, kissing her on the temple before just resting his chin on the top of her head. "I love you so damn much."

Even the memories of the times Rob would find himself alone at home when Y/N was away filming were memories he didn't mind thinking about.

'Cause even when she wasn't there with him, she always somehow found a way to make him smile.

🎶When the world gets cold

On those sleepless nights🎶

"Saw these and thought you'd like them. See you when I get back home this weekend." Was scrawled across a small piece of paper in Y/N's handwriting.

Rob smiled as he looked from the note to an open box of a brand new pair of jet black Converse sneakers that sat on top of his and Y/N king-sized bed.

🎶Oh, girl you should know that you will always be mine🎶

"How'd I get so lucky?" Rob found himself asking to no one in particular as he stood alone in their empty master bedroom.

One memory that made Rob smile was when he and Y/N had been up in Vancouver for the filming of season five episode nine (5x09 ~ The Real Ghostbusters). Y/N's character (Edith) wasn't in the episode, but Y/N had decided to come up to Vancouver with Rob anyway and watch him film.

🎶Sweetheart🎶

“Wow, really?” Rob (or Chuck) asked Jared (or Sam) as they stood there with Emily (or Becky).

“No..” He said. “‘Cause we have guns, and we’ll find you.”

🎶God could've never made two🎶

“Right, okay.” Rob (or Chuck) nodded quickly, making Y/N giggle quietly from where she stood behind Brad, one of the camera men.

🎶Nobody quite like you🎶

“And cut!” The director called out, letting everyone break character. “Everyone, take ten and then we’ll head back inside for the bar scene.”

🎶Woah, sweetheart

One kiss and I come unglued🎶

“Getting bored?” Rob enquired, walking over to where Y/N was as Emily and Jared were whisked away for their hair touch-ups.

“I never get bored watching you film.” Y/N grinned, wrapping her arms around Rob’s neck as he wrapped his arms around her waist. She leaned up slightly to give him a peck on the lips. “It’s one of my favorite things.”

“Oh, is that so?” He quirked an eyebrow at her, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

“Mm..” She hummed in response, nodding before just laying her head against his chest as they stood there in each other’s arms until Rob was called away for more filming.

And of course, the only other memory that could stand right alongside the memory of Rob and Y/N’s wedding, and the memory of the day their first daughter was born, was the memory of the day their second daughter was born.

“Hello, little one.” Rob whispered as he stared down at his and Y/N’s baby daughter as she was nestled safely in Y/N’s arms. “Beautiful, just like her Mommy and big sis.”

🎶You're the one my heart beats for🎶

“Little Emmalyn Saige Benedict.” Y/N smiled widely, letting her daughter’s tiny fingers wrap around one of hers.

🎶And I can't believe you gave your sweet heart to me🎶

“I can’t wait for Sophia to meet her.” Rob said quietly, not taking his eyes off his new daughter.

Y/N smiled slightly, leaning further into Rob’s side.

“Me, too.”

It was really quite simple when Rob thought about it. It didn’t have to be examined too closely.

🎶Ooh yeah, you gave your sweet heart to me🎶

Y/N was his everything. She was the one who gave him the life he had only dreamed of before he met her. She had been there with him through his worst times just like he had been there with her through hers.

She was his happiness. She was the one who gave him two beautiful daughters that just added on to that. He would forever be grateful.

🎶Ooh yeah, you gave your sweet heart to me, oh🎶

And nothing would ever or could ever change his mind about that.

The crowd screamed and applauded as the band played the last notes of the song, Rob’s voice fading away with the last lyric.

“I love you, Y/N, and I’ll see you and the girls when I get home.” Rob spoke into the microphone, staring at where he saw the camera filming the livestream. “Goodnight, Seattle!”

Rob gave one last wave to the crowd before he and the band began making their way off stage, Rob’s mind filled with thoughts of Y/N.

The woman who was back in LA staring at her computer screen, smiling like an idiot as she leaned back against the headboard of her and Rob’s bed, both of their daughters fast asleep on either side of her.

“Love you, too, Robbie.”

A/N: Okay, so that didn’t exactly turn out how I had originally planned, but I still had fun writing it. And I hope you enjoyed reading it even more! 😁

Anyway, I’ve started work on a (Gabriel x Trickster!Reader) one-shot. I’m not sure when I’ll get that up, but hopefully it won’t be too long. 🙂

Unexpected

AN: Y/S/N= your sister’s name. Your sister is about ten in this. Also i’m really new to writing fanfiction so this is probably horrible😂😂😂 written for @kittenofdoomage and @saxxxology SPN history challenge.

Warnings: little bit of angst. Alludes to mass murder. (Hello? It’s the Vikings.) Like one cuss word. Probably horrible writing.

Unexpected.

It had been completely unexpected.

You and your village had been undisturbed for years living happy lives away from the savage Vikings. Your village was peaceful and had no quarrels with the neighboring villages. You even had trade agreements with most of them. But in hindsight maybe that was why your luck didn’t hold out.

You were awoken by the screams and the smell of smoke. You knew it was the Vikings, it had to be. Your first thought was to protect your sister. She was only a few years younger than you and she was your world. You had raised her after your mother and father had died many years before. Your hut was on the outskirts of the village which meant it would take them longer to reach you.

You ran to her waking her quickly, “Sister we must hurry!” She looked at you slowly waking when she heard the screams you saw terror bloom in her eyes, “We don’t have time little sister. We must flee as quickly as possible!” she jumped out of bed and followed you to where you kept your horse. She was not a young horse she had seen better days but she was fast. You helped your sister up and got on behind her. The blood in your veins froze when you heard a voice yell “Over here! There’s two more!” everything else ceased to matter as you dug your heels in and spurred your horse on. “Quick they’re getting away!”

Just as you were starting to think you got away from out in front of you came a noise. You felt true fear thinking all was lost and you had been captured at last. But from the brush came two faces that meant security. “Dean! Sam! Thank God! They probably aren’t far behind me!” Dean immediately said, “Dammit go! Ride to our village and go to our home. We left our brother there to rally the rest of our village, he will keep you safe, hurry!” He turned to the men behind him and said “Come on men, time to see what steel we’re made of!”

The last admonition was unnecessary as you had already spurred your mare on. Thoughts of the youngest Winchester and the feeling of safety he provided filling your mind. You had met Adam before and had always fancied him. You had held out hope that he would one day choose you as his bride. Even though you only saw each other on the market days in his village you had grown close. “Are we going to be safe?” Y/S/N said. “Of course sweetheart! You remember Adam right? He will keep us safe!” you told her as you neared the nearby village.

Riding up you saw one of the town leaders standing by Adam. “Cas!” you cried out. “Y/N! You’re safe! We were so worried about you and Y/S/N!” He said as you dismounted. “We barely made it out. If it wasn’t for Dean and Sam we would have surely been captured.” Adams jaw tensed when you had finished. He came up and helped Y/S/N down from the horse and then turned to you, “Dean was clear that if you made it here you were to stay with us. Come, I’ll lead you to our home.”

You followed behind him holding tightly to your sister’s hand. As you you walked behind him you couldn’t help but notice how every woman in the town was watching you and your sister. “Adam…” you asked. “Yes?” He replied. Looking around you self consciously “Why are we being stared at?” you said hiding Y/S/N behind you. “I don’t know.” He said unsurely. I couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief when we made it to the Winchester home.

“Home sweet home. Make yourselves comfortable. I’ll be outside maintaining the defences with Cas while others ride out and join Dean and Sam and the men they took with them. If you need anything Ellen and Jo are next door and will be more than willing to help you out.” He said before turning and going to join Castiel and the rest of the men. You remembered Jo and her mother Ellen from all the times you came to the market. You were good friends with Jo and Ellen had been like a second mother to you always looking after Y/S/N when you had to go on long trips.

“Y/N. I’m scared.” Your little sister said as tears started rolling down her face. “Where’s Dean?” your little sister had grown attached to the oldest Winchester not long after she met him. The dynamic between the two was almost instantaneous, she was his little sister too and you were forever grateful for the peace of mind that provided you knowing that if something ever happened to you she would be taken care of here. You knelt down in front of her and wiped away her tears, “Dean is away being your knight in shining armor dear. He went to protect us from the bad men.”

You held her tight to you and rocked her slowly trying to calm her down when there was a knock at the door. “Who is it!?” you called out. “It’s Ellen sweetheart open the door!” you shushed your sister and went to the door and opened it to see not only Ellen but Jo as well. You threw yourself into the older woman’s arms, relaxing slowly as she runs her fingers through your hair. “God we were so worried about you two! When they said that they saw smoke above your village we feared the worst!” She kissed your forehead and went inside holding onto you. Jo went to where you left Y/S/N and quickly set to work keeping her busy.

After you told Ellen everything and you had calmed down enough you started to wonder how long it had been. You feared for the safety of your friends. You had started cooking dinner as a way to distract yourself from your worries. Just as you were about to to finish and voice your worries to Ellen you heard the door open. Turning around you saw Dean enter and close the door behind him.

You ran and hugged him “God I was so worried about you guys! Is Sam okay?” you couldn’t help noticing that he wasn’t present. “Yeah Sam is just checking on the men. I wanted to make sure you two had arrived safe.” He said looking for Y/S/N. You noticed almost immediately and said pointing to the room where her and Jo were playing. “She’s in there with Jo. She was a little shaken up and Jo helped keep her mind of it while I made dinner. She was worried about you.” his face light up when you finished your sentence. “She was huh? Guess I better go see my favourite munchkin let her know her hero is okay.” He said with that famous Winchester smirk.

Ellen came into the room as he was leaving. “What’s got him so happy? He looks like it’s his birthday and he got a new sword.” You couldn’t help but giggle at that. “He’s happy because Y/S/ N was worried about him.” You could hear the two of them as Dean told her about how he led the men in the battle against the Vikings. You heard her laughing as Dean embellished everything to the point of hilarity. “I should go check on the food.” You said as you walked away. Ellen followed you into the kitchen and helped you finish up as Sam and Adam came back from checking on everyone else.

“God Sam I’m glad you’re okay.” you said as you hugged the man who was almost a foot taller than you. He chuckled “We can handle ourselves out there. I’m glad you’re okay though, we were worried about you two.” You smiled. “My father made sure I knew how to ride a horse many years ago.” you smirked. “I’m also the proud owner of one of the fastest mares in my village.” Sam raised his eyebrow, “And who sent her your way I wonder?” you laughed at his reminder of the day he had helped you pick her out. “I know who sent her my way. And I am forever grateful to all of you… for always making sure me and my sister were taken care of.”

You set the table with Ellen’s help and called everyone to dinner. After everyone was seated everyone started their own little conversations and the pleasant noise of conversation was everywhere. When the meal was over you took the dishes and went to clean up after yourself. Dean met you in the kitchen and surprised you by starting to help. “You don’t have to do that Dean I can do this.” He replied “I know but after living just us men for so long I’ve gotten to the point where I enjoy doing it… don’t tell Sam though he wouldn’t let me live it down.” You laughed quietly, “My lips are sealed. I won’t have many opportunities after we go back home anyway.”

When Dean tensed at that you knew something was wrong. “Dean what’s wrong?” you said putting down the dish you were drying. He seemed to hesitate and then you could note every movement he made as he steeled himself for the answer. “I’m sorry Y/N. There isn’t a village to go back to.” You could feel your knees giving out underneath you so held onto the counter. “What the hell do you mean by that Dean. Houses can be rebuilt…” You gasped as it hit you. “but the people in them can’t be remade can they…” you felt the first year as it started down your face. Dean pulled you into a bone crushing hug. “We were able to save you and your sister but only because you were quick and didn’t try to take anything with you. Others weren’t so prepared to leave it all behind.” He held you while you cried. “It might be too soon but we do need to figure out where you two are going to be living.” at that you were able to calm yourself. You let your rational mind take over so it would be easier to forget even for just a few hours the pain that you and your sister had been through. “Yes that needs to be figured out.” You said as you pulled away. Dean looked at you and said, “Do you have any family you can go live with?” you shook your head. “It’s just me and her.” You said with a sigh “we’ve been alone ever since our parents died. Father never told me of any other relatives.” He seemed to take a moment to think. “Weren’t you apprenticed to the healer of your town?” you nodded. His eyes light up. “Our healer Bobby has been looking for an apprentice to pass on his knowledge too. You could go continue your apprenticeship with him and I know he would let you and your sister live with him.” you remembered the old healer from your many trips to town. He was a bit gruff at first but after awhile you had seen his softer side. The thought of working for the man who had made sure to keep an eye on your sister for you on multiple occasions made you very excited. “Do you really think he would Dean?” “I know he would. I’ll go talk to him right now. He’s right down the road, I’ll be back in a minute to tell you how it went but for right now… You might wanna talk to Adam.”

You stilled. “I told you that in confidence Dean. Not so you could throw it in my face.” You had once let it slip how you felt to the oldest Winchester but had sworn him to secrecy. He had promised not to say a word to Adam but had continuously pestered you to say something to him yourself. “I didn’t mean for you to take it that way but… you should know that out of all of us, he was the one who had the hardest time keeping calm. And Cas told me that Adam was almost inconsolable until you showed up and then, he was more determined than ever to maintain the defences. He cares for you like I’ve always said. He is not the type to approach unless he knows it’s going to go well. He’s been through alot and even though he’s been through all that. He managed to stay a kind hearted man. That’s impressive for the men of this village. And I know for a fact that it’s because of you.” after Dean finished speaking he walked away to go speak to Bobby.

You let what he had said roll around in your head, was what he said true? Did he really feel that way? You were almost afraid to let yourself believe it. But looking back with Dean’s words in mind you could see all the little moments that you two had shared. All the moments where a touch lingered too long on his part or a gaze too long on yours. You didn’t know what to do… but the universe seemed to be looking out for you. Adam walked in moments later. “Oh hey. I was umm, looking for Dean. Do you know where he went?” you mentally shook yourself, “Yeah he went down to Bobby’s place to talk.” for a minute there was only awkward silence. Then as suddenly as it started it was broken.

“I’m glad you’re okay. Both of you. We were all worried when we saw the light from the fires.” You smiled. “I’m just glad we made it out safely. I was so relieved when we made it. The sight of familiar faces and the safety that you provided. It was…” you didn’t know how to put it into words but you could tell from the look on his face that he knew what you meant. He cleared his throat, “When do you think you two will be going back? I don’t mean to sound rude or anything I was just wondering how much longer we could enjoy your spectacular cooking.” He said with a laugh. You couldn’t help but laugh at that. “Much longer than you think Adam…” he looked confused and you couldn’t blame him. “we aren’t going back…” when the meaning behind your words hit him he pulled you into a hug. It wasn’t bone crushing like his brothers but it still conveyed all the emotion behind it. “I’m so sorry.” was all it took before you broke again. Cry into the shoulder of the man you loved you let it all go. He slowly eased you both into a sitting position all while holding you closely.

“Hey, hey, hey… it will get better. I promise. Me, Sam, Dean and Cas. We’ll all be here for you. We’ll help you with everything. Help you find a place. Help you watch over Y/S/N. You won’t starve… I’ll make sure of it. I’ll do whatever I have too. You’ll be safe. I promise…” you heard him talking to you and the sound of his voice was so soothing to you. You suddenly tensed because you thought you heard something that would change your life forever. Adam tensed beside you also. And that was all the confirmation you needed. “Adam I… I love you too.” You felt him breathe out beside you slowly. “You mean that?” you looked up into his crystal blue eyes and suddenly and reservation you had went out the window. “Yes. I always did honestly.” You leaned closer to him still staring at his eyes. “Did you mean it when you said it?” you couldn’t help but ask. “Yeah. I did.” He said. Slowly closing more of the distance between you.

Suddenly what little distance there was between you was closed, his lips were finally on yours. Soft and sweet, he was hesitant you could tell. You pushed forward a little trying to prove with your actions that you wanted this as much as he did. He took your cue and became more confident about it. He made sure you knew exactly how he felt with no words needed. You were happy again. Yes you had just been through something tragic. But you knew… it was all going to work out.

Months later your feelings were proved true. You had been working for Bobby for months. Taking care of your sister with the help of all you friends in the village. Sam led the men in building better barricades to keep the Vikings from attacking the village. Dean became the captain of the local militia and Adam… well, the two of you couldn’t be happier.

You had everything you had ever wanted and more.

Summary: Y/N get’s a job in a geeky merchandise store were she meets a handsome Jensen Ackles look-a-like called Dean.

My quote is “Honestly if I had a nickel for every time I hear a girl say that…” from Dean. And as AU I choose a geeky merchandise store (SPN excists in this AU)…

Your friend Jo wanted to go shopping with you on her day off from work. She said it was great shopping weather and that you really needed to get out of your apartment. You accepted her offer even though you really didn’t like shopping because everybody is running around, trying to find that one perfect thing they are looking for. You didn’t like the stress and rush of shopping. You wanted to take your time to decide things while all the other shoppers are in a hurry.

You planned a rendez-vous with Jo at the Starbucks at the beginning of the main shopping street. Whilst waiting you decided to drink a coffee and spend your time on Tumblr. You ordered a Java Chip Frappe and a little snack. A barista yelled your name and you went to get your order and thanked the barista. When you got back to your table at the window you felt your phone buzz in the pocket of your jeans. God I need a pair of new ones you thought to yourself when you pulled out your phone. You had a text from Jo.

Sorry can’t make it. Fam buzz. I’ll call later!

Fucking great! Now you came all the way out here to shop with Jo and she just bailed on your shop date. Well since you are already here it wouldn’t hurt to do a bit of shopping.

You found a nice outfit. You fell in love with the plaid dress and the matching green jacket. You planned to return home an start binge watching yet another show online that was on your list when a store caught your eye. It was a little shop on the corner of the main shopping street. It was called “the Geeky Corner of Society”. You chuckled and started to make your way over to the store to check it out. When you entered the store your moth fell open from surprise. It’s just perfect… Almost every fandom you could think about had its own little section. There was a section from Marvel, DC, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek, Disney, The Walking Dead, Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and where to find them, all kinds of Anime and Manga stuff, Gaming merchandise and last but definitely not least Supernatural. Every section was neat and decorated in its theme, there were even little sceneries made with Funko dolls of every fandom.

You were just admiring the view that you didn’t even notice when a employer walked towards you to see if they could help. They just stood next to you as they watched your reaction.

“I know right. My boss … She put all of her efforts and money into this. She really turned this into a geek heaven.”, someone pulled you out of your trance. You closed your mouth and turned around to see who was talking to you. You got greeted by a pair of lovely apple green eyes. The mystery man was rather tall and wore a Supernatural t-shirt and a pin with his name on it. Dean.

“Wow, she must be awesome”, you muttered under your breath. “It must be nice to work here I guess.”

“Yeah, she is. She does so much for the people around her, she just keeps on giving but doesn’t get anything. That’s why I am helping her out here, she was planning to do this all on her own… Well yeah, working here is fun ya know. Most people that enter the store are constantly walking around with this huge smile plastered on their faces. That makes me happy too I guess.”, he replied.

You saw a lady walking towards another costumer to ask if they needed any help. She also wore a Supernatural t-shirt. Instantly Dean slid in front of you and put on a bright smile. His sales smile you guess. “Hi and welcome to ‘The Geeky Corner of Society’! My name is Dean, can I help you with something?”

“Is she your boss?”, you ask.

“Yeah, ‘ve gotta work too instead of talking to a lovely lady like you…”, he whispered back.

“Uh… Um, thanks… I guess”, you reply shyly. Dean coughs awkwardly while clearing his throat.

You took a better look at him while you walked over to the Harry Potter section with him right behind you. You were looking at all of the wands that were displayed while something popped up into your head.

“Hey, you kinda look like Dean from Supernatural! Oh goodness I thought I recognised you from somewhere!”, you said as you turned towards him. You almost bumped into him because he stood much closer then you expected.

“Honestly if I had a nickel for every time I hear a girl say that…”, Dean replied.

“Oh, so I am not the first one to say it either! You just look like twins! And you even have the same name! It must be so easy to cosplay as him!”, you practically squealed.

“Well uh… Yeah I cosplay as him but nobody has ever seen that”

“You don’t have to be ashamed! You uh, look good”, you felt the heath rising to your cheeks as you started to blush. You turned around to the t-shirts so Dean wouldn’t see that you were blushing. You dropped the conversation about his resemblance to your favourite one of the brothers, since you sensed that he didn’t feel comfortable.

“So how did you get into Supernatural?”, Dean asked.

“It’s kinda a funny story. I just did. I was binge watching another show and I just stumbled upon it, well I heard about it before on Tumblr so I decided it wouldn’t hurt to start watching it. I must say, I was hooked from the first 15 minutes.”

“So you really are a big fan, huh?”

“It’s in my blood! But how did you get in to it?”

“Uh, I never got your name…” Dean subtly changed the topic from him to you.

“Y/N.”, you replied shyly.

“Well, it’s nice to meet ya!”, he says while his cheeks seemed to get a little bit redder.

“Likewise!” Seriously? Likewise? This isn’t the ’40, Y/N!

“Um, you… You have something on your cheek, wait a sec…”, Dean said while he came closer to you. He cupped your face with one of his hands while he gently rubbed your left cheek with his other hand. All of the sudden it felt like the two of you were the only one on the whole planet. You just stayed there staring into his eyes. It just feels like you’ve landed it one of those fluffy fanfictions you read on Tumblr.

“DEAN! You are giving that poor girl a heart attack! We can’t afford that!”, Dean’s boss yelled suddenly.

“Son of a bitch”, Dean muttered under his breath while you stood there giggling. It had been a long time since you felt that way around a guy. Dean made you feel like a teenager with raging hormones, and you didn’t even mind it. Because of him your hearth farted rainbows and you started to giggle. Like full on giggling. You tried to stop it but the looks Dean’s boss was giving him didn’t really help. You thought your laugh sounded awful but Dean liked the sound, wait… scrap that, he loved it.

“I heard that!”, the lady replied while sticking her thumbs in the air and winking at you.

While you were shopping Dean staid at your side and helped you. You made some small talk for 10 minutes and started to get to know each other. Sometimes you would get bold and you would flirt a little bit. You picked what you could afford. Your shopping basket was filled with 2 Harry Potter t-shirt of your house, Gandalf’s Funko, a Sherlock mug, a Doctor Who piggy bank, a bloody metalic Dean Funko and a bloody metalic Sam Funko. You needed to get rid of one of the things because you couldn’t afford all of it. You walked to the cash registers, you still couldn’t decide which thing you would drop. Dean saw the frown on your face when he took his place behind the cash register and got an idea.

“Hey Y/N. I’ll pay for the thingy you want. Think of it as a gift.”, Dean said.

“Wha-, no! That’s… No? I can’t accept that!”, you replied.

Dean’s boss popped up behind him and looked at you. “It’s on the house.”

You were dumbfounded: “No! That’s too sweet, I can come back later and buy it you guys…”

As if planned Dean and his boss spoke in sync: “I insist!”

“If you won’t just accept it as a gift…”, Dean started.

“… We can make a deal if you want to.”, his boss finished.

“Am I at a crossroad or something, do I need to kiss a demon?”, you asked.

They both just looked at you with wide eyes and you wished you could have Susan Storm’s powers right now. After a while the friendly lady threw her head back as she started laughing: “Oh God, that’s a good one! No you don’t have to kiss a Dean-mon, well if you want too you can go ahead…” You started to blush as the lady winked at you and wiggled her eyebrows suggestively. Dean didn’t hear the pun and you were kinda glad he didn’t.

The lady continued: “We can make a deal. You get one of the Funko’s as a gift…”

“And?”

“We could use some help in the store, well if you don’t have a job at the moment…”, she said with a serious face. Dean stared at his boss with wide eyes and she just looked back at him and flashed a big ol’ smile.

“Oh I would love to work here! You guys are so lucky I am unemployed right now!”, you squealed. “Yes! Absolutely, sign me up! Ahem, so my name is Y/N.” you said while you stretched your arm. She didn’t shake your hand but just gave you a fist bump.

“My name is Becca but you can call me ‘tha Boss’”, she introduced herself while she threw some glitter and confetti around her. “’ve been waiting to do that forever!”

Dean started chuckling and turned to Becca: “ You really haven’t changed at all, did you now?”, he then turned to you as he whispered: “That’s the same line she used when I got ‘oficially’ recruted”

“Why would I? So Y/N, your shift starts tomorrow at 10 a.m., if that’s okay for you. Can I have some personal information so I can send you the details?”

She handed you a paper and a pen. I have a paper, I have a pen… Nghh. Paper-pen. You mentally face palmed yourself for doing that and going there. You wrote down your personal information. You were really glad Jo ditched you, otherwise nothing of this wouldn’t have happened.
