#i am disappointed with how little fanfics there are of the two

I’ve just realised another reason why Edward Cullen is an idiot. He acts like provoking the Volturi is the only surefire way to die, but surely he could’ve had a similar effect by provoking some random nomads, and brought way less danger on the rest of the family? Sure, it would’ve taken longer, but he wouldn’t have had to go all the way to Italy or deal with a possible refusal, or Aro’s creepiness. Idk, just seems like a better way
#like i know there’s no guarantee of 1) being able to find murderous nomads or that 2) said murderous nomads would know how#to kill another vampire; but i figure edward has the best shot of anyone at figuring those things out#he can literally read minds. if there’s ANY other vamp in the vicinity he’ll find out quickly; and he could also read their mind to find out#if they knew other vampires’ weaknesses. hell he could’ve killed a random other vamp by fire & caused their mate to avenge them#using the method they now knew would work#he could also have self-destructed via werewolves but i guess that would’ve brought the pack down on the rest of the cullens#also it would require edward to hurt a human or at least convincingly pretend to and we Know he wouldn’t do that 🙄#he’s such a weird and tedious little man honestly. the fact that the plot of the next two books pretty much only happened because edward#decided that exposing himself to italians was a better idea than like… tracking down victoria or maybe someone carlisle knows#&picking a fight. edward i would love to study you#personal#also yes i am rewatching eclipse. and what about it#just realised edward could honestly have just asked some random nomads to kill him and they would probably have done it#like maria? jasper’s maria?? she absolutely would have killed him just to practice#sidenote but maria is one of the BIGGEST loose ends in the series for me. like i am dying to know where she ended up#her and that other dhampir kid’s father who was apparently a fucking scientist or something??#steph put so much crazy shit into these books and then never brought it up again. she answered ONLY the wrong questions and for what#it is no fucking wonder i was obsessed with twilight fanfic for a hot second as a teen…. the people need to know what’s going on#i’ve never seen a writer have so many potentially interesting ideas but execute them so badly#i want to study steph as well but i know the answer to everything she does is just mormonism so it’d be disappointing ultimately

Okay, first of all, how are you? Hope you’re doing well! Drink plenty of water, stay hydrated- Second off, your Sunny fics? *chef’s kiss* so mainly, what if anybody made Sunny cry and Miguel had to find out about it? And Sunny’s trying not to make it seem like a big deal in order to keep Miguel from, you know, absolutely obliterating anyone.
Come on, Baby, Cry.
Tumblr media
((Miguel O' Hara X Female! Reader))
A/N: Oh my goodness, thank you so much for the compliment. All my readers? *Extra chef's kisses* I am very hydrated and I got so excited to write this for you and to add some angsty content lol. I hope you enjoy this and let me know if you are disappointed or if you love it.
A/N: I also wanna address two things before I post this too. 1) thank you so much to the anon who asked me to include translations for the Spanish phrases as I was honestly not thinking about doing that. I will do better to include the translations at the end of the fics. 2) There are gonna be some triggering topics explored in this one-shot so if you don't want to hear about near injuries to children or child loss, then I understand if you don't want to read it. Feel free to enjoy my other fanfics and here's the post where you can stay notified on happier Sunny and Miggy fanfics.
Warnings: Grumpy x Sunshine, Barely using (Y/N) ((Sunny is just their nickname, not their actual name.)), Female pronouns, PTSD, Mentions of Child Loss, Endangerment of a Child ((No children were actually hurt, just traumatized)), Trauma, Comforting, Fluff, Angry Miguel, and Google Translate Spanish.
The room fills with squeals and giggles as the chase between the chubby toddler and the jumping spider. Mayday swings her little self around the corridor as the young woman follows behind amused by how agile the little tyke was.
‘Maybe she’ll make a good sidekick in the future.’ The smiling woman muses in her mind before a bloody image flashes in her mind. Shaking her head, she clears the idea out of her mind as Mayday reaches an open window.
Her quick scream of horror as she accidentally swings herself out of the window causes the woman’s blood to run cold as she flings herself out of the window after her. “MAYDAY!”
The adrenaline coming from her heightened fear causes the whole thing to appear to be trapped in time as the spider woman falls with the screeching infant falling inches away. Tears clouded her vision as she shoots out her webbing to the pillars around them as the images of flames lick at her eyes.
So many flames, and too many buildings at once. Screams and pleas from below as she tries to be there. They didn’t matter to her, not at that moment. The only one who mattered was him. Did he scream like that too or did he not even feel it?
Using her webbing, she quickly creates a hammock for Mayday to fall on a few feet from the ground, thankfully trapping the wailing infant so she can’t escape. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t set in time for the spider as she slams into the titanium flooring below, knocking the air out of her lungs.
Many spidermen gathered as they heard the commotion, but she could only focus her blurry vision above her as she tries to regain her sight. A familiar blur of bright pink swings up and grabs the ball of ginger hair in a muddled mess of cries. He quickly drops down to where the disoriented woman was splayed out below with the whimpering infant in his arms.
“Hey, Sunny, you alright?” Peter calls his friend. The damage didn’t look bad from the outside, but he was sure she had some nasty concussion with how she was looking at him.
Hobie crouches down beside the crumbled girl and carefully lifts her head up with one hand. “Oi, Sunshine, you there?” He mutters as he looks into her eyes. He holds up his hand and makes three fingers pop up. “How many fingers do you see, love?”
With a cough, the woman croaks out, “Three?” Her eyes begin to focus as her enhanced healing works out the stars in her vision. With the help of Hobie and Peter, she stands up with a whimper at the feeling of her shattered ribs forming back together. “Damn, I forgot that falling several feet actually hurt.” She attempts to joke despite her wheezing breath. The crowd around them laughs as Peter sighs in relief.
“Thank god, you’re alright.” Peter mourns as a glint of regret shines in his eyes. “I’m sorry for all this, Sunny. I shouldn’t have let her bring the web shooter here. She almost swings herself out of the window all the time and MJ told me that one day I won’t be there to help the next time it happens.” Mayday’s cries end as she sees her favorite play partner up and well as she shows off her gummy smile.
“Well, luckily I was here to save the day.” The disoriented spider muses as she returns the infant’s smile as the men chuckle. The crowd dissipates leaving the injured spider with her two friends.
“I’m still really sorry, P. I got distracted and didn’t see that the window was open.” She winces as she blames herself for being so neglectful.
“Don’t sweat it, kid. This little rascal will probably send me to an early grave with all the mischief she causes.” Peter jokes as he tickles his now roaming daughter, chuckling at her excited squeals.
“Good thing you don’t have a kid, Sunny.” Hobie chuckles. “You would lose them in a heartbeat.”
The bright atmosphere shatters as the woman abruptly pulls away from her friends. The men look at her confused until they saw the look in her eyes. The normal warm and inviting gaze that they all thrived under was gone, only a dark void was staring back at them. Their light now shining in hurt and sadness as memories cloud her mind. Her lip trembles in a tight line as tears begin to roll down her face.
Hobie looks confused at the sudden shift, but Peter realizes something as he looked at his trembling friend. Her eyes burned with tears as they locked with his. She had a haunted look about her. It's a look only parents can ever understand and fear. The look Peter himself almost experienced. “Hey,(y-” Before Peter can comfort her, she activates her mask and turns invisible before running off, her muffled sobs leaving them speechless.
Hobie groans as he realizes two things. One, he just made the sweetest person in the world cry. And Two,...
Miguel is gonna kill him.
~~~~~~~
The warm glow of the portal illuminates the surveillance room as the blue spider steps out covered in a musty yellow goo. Lyla smirks as she observes the little chucks slipping onto the ground as Miguel attempts to dust off the slime from his large shoulders.
“Was your mission successful, boss?” The assistant snarks as she sends out a little robot to follow the annoyed Spiderman. The little bug-like contraption eagerly swallows up the disgusting mess Miguel left as he walks up to the platform. “The anomaly was captured and disposed of. Next time, warn me if William Baker is made of anything except sand.” He grumbles as the sound of the little robot annoyed him even more.
“I’ll make a note of that.” The AI giggles as she downloads the mission info from Miguel’s gizmo. “Also ‘Miss Sunshine’ is here and she doesn’t seem too happy.” She says before fading out.
Miguel’s eyes widen upon hearing that his sunny partner was upset. She was never upset. Never. With concern eating away at him, Miguel shoots out a web and swings himself to the platform above. He lands softly as he sees the scene in front of him.
His sunshine sat in his usual seat in front of the monitor. Her costume was dirty with a chest compression brace wrapped around her ribs as her choked sobs wheeze out of her. Her mask was off as her head rested against the ice pack in her hand, her back leaned forward as her attention was focused on the image before her.
He already knew what was on the screen.
He knew that file name by heart just like how he knows Gabriella’s.
On the screen, the laughing face of a younger Sunny shines as a chubby cheek of a baby boy with dark curls smooshes into hers. The faint sound of a child mimicking the smooch of a kiss can be heard as the overexaggerated gasp of the woman causes the toddler to squeal. “That was such a sweet kiss, Benny. Can mommy have another one?” The sweet voice soured the air as the sobbing woman mournfully watches her baby boy.
The baby she failed.
Miguel approaches behind her and slowly takes the mouse from her weak grasp. The broken woman sighs as she realizes her miggy is here with her now, but doesn’t turn to look at him as he pauses the video. Her baby’s matching eyes stare right back at her before Miguel turns the chair around to face him as his mask disintegrates. His eyes glow red under the light of the monitors as he searched her sore eyes. Her face was red with a noticeable bruise along the left side of her face. Tears and snot crusted over her soft features as her lips remained turned into a trembling whisper. Her pupil shone in self-loathing and searching for his comfort. He could tell that this episode isn’t just one of her low days, something happened.
Something happened and he wasn’t here to stop it.
Miguel closes his eyes as his hand caresses her cheek. The warmth of her flushing face nuzzling into his palm allowed him to ground his rage as he focuses his gaze back onto his beloved.
“Mi luz, ¿qué pasó?” He seethes as he looks deep into her eyes.
She shakes her head as she tries to avoid looking into his concerned ruby gaze. The glass bridge was already cracked as she internally debated with sobbing everything that happened into his warm embrace or to protect her friend from the wrath she knows Miguel will unleash if he knows what was said. The warmth of his other palm cupping her cheek, guiding her to a wandering eye to look at his frowning face nearly broke her.
“It was nothing, Miggy…”She whispered as her voice trembled again. She tried to control her eyes from unknowingly confessing while she tries to bite the wobbling pout. “It was an accident…”
“What.” Miguel runs his thumb under her abused mouth as a piece of her disheveled hair was swept back. “Happened?” His demand is punctuated as he holds her in his stare. His eyes burned with barely contained fury and protectiveness as he studied her reactions. “Odio verte como la suya, mi amor.” He admits with a sigh.
Leaning forward, Miguel places a firm kiss on her forehead as his beloved’s breath shudders at his touch. The gentle heat under his touch left her trembling as the glass began to crack. “Let me ease your pain…” He whispers as he trails his kisses down to her eyelids. “These eyes are meant to be filled with happiness, not sorrow…” The cracks deepen as he gently kisses her nose. “I can’t undo what has happened…” The corners of her lips were caressed by his as his nose brushed against her cheeks causing her eyes to meet his mirrors. Her sorrow and helplessness are reflected in his ruby eyes as he kneels on the ground between her legs. A silent plea breaks the resolve she built as he mutters into her ear.
“Please, mi sol, at least let me feel your pain too…It's me and you against the universe remember…Por favor no me dejes solo ... No quiero perderte de nuevo.” He begs as the tension shatters.
With her arms snaking around his shoulders, the little spider confesses all that happened hours prior into his ear. Each detail, each scar, burned into his mind as she clung to his neck and hair. His inferno of rage almost imploded until he looked back into her eyes again. The relief of letting go of all of her troubles made her face look years younger as she looked at him with her big vulnerable eyes.
Hobie will have to wait. His love needed him now.
In a silent nod, Miguel wrapped her weak legs around his waist before he stood up. Feeling her snuggling into his throat, he carries her toward her room down the hallway while the annoying robot follows them to clean up the mess. As he enters the room, he releases some of his anger by smashing the bug with his foot.
“What was that, Miggy?” She croaks as she weakly tries to look over his shoulder.
“Just a bug,” He sighs as he approaches her dresser and grabs his spare set of clothes from his drawer. “You want your clothes or mine?”
“Yours…” She shyly admits as he feels the heat returning to the cheek on his neck.
“Muy bien, niña bonita. Lo que quieras.” He whispers as he grabs another set of clothes that he knows will swallow her. With that, he carries them into her personal bathroom and spent the night slowly bringing back his sunshine.
~~~~~~~~
A deep scream rings out through the Lobby as they see a flash of blue fury tackles the residential metal head into the ground. Peter hurries to save his colleague along with a few other Spidermen as Mayday laughs at the anarchist getting thrashed by the clawed man spewing Hispanic curses at him.

parent teacher conferences are coming up and i'm praying a man like hiromi shows up and falls in love with me
hi, this was supposed to be a little daydream but I got carried away. this concept is full fanfic material. bless your beautiful mind, anon.
-
You've been talking with parents all afternoon, going over each student's progress, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses. You've argued a couple of times with some particularly opinionated parents who insist that their children aren't being challenged enough, or whose children are disruptive in class (contrary to what they say they're like at home). As you're scanning the list to make sure everyone scheduled has come, your eyes fall on one name in particular that never bothered to show.
The Higuruma kid.
You sigh, letting your shoulder slump forward in silent disappointment. She's a bright young girl- top of your class, reading at two grade levels above her peers, working through middle school math equations and making art that a college grad would envy. you knew her father to be the top defense attorney in the area, so it came as no surprise that he would have a child so brilliant. Tonight was an opportunity for you to tell her parents everything they probably already knew, but it would have been exciting nonetheless. you were sure you were almost as proud of her as they were.
The clock on the wall creeps past eight, so you start to tidy up. As you're filing away the last of the papers, your stomach calls for attention and you reach for a granola bar from your desk stash and cram half of it in your mouth just as you hear a breathless voice at your door.
"Am I too late?"
You look up, cheeks full of oats and honey, and your eyes go wide at the tall, lanky figure nearly falling over himself as he enters your classroom. His dark hair looks like at some point today it might have been meticulously styled, but now it's disheveled as he runs a hand through it, his deep brown eyes offering you some kind of silent plea for just a minute of your time. He's wearing a well-made suit that somehow looks too big and too small at the same time, tie loosened, the first few buttons of his shirt undone.
"Hiromi Higuruma," he offers, stepping forward to offer a hand. When you accept, his fingers are cool and a little damp, but his grip is strong and confident. Your eyes light up, and you muster a tired smile after swallowing the rest of your snack.
"Ah, Mr. Higuruma! I thought maybe you'd forgotten about our meeting."
"I'm sorry. I– work. It's always work," he says, and you realize that he's had to excuse himself probably dozens of time for his erratic schedule. "I usually ask my wife to come to these things, but she's got her own thing going on these days. Uh. Ex-wife, I mean." He sheepishly scratches the back of his neck as his cheeks go pink. "Divorce is still fresh. Haven't really gotten accustomed to that yet. Sorry. Sorry, I ah..." He trails off, leaving you to pick up and change the subject.
You wave him over to have a seat at your desk. "It's alright, you don't have to explain. I'm just glad you made it. I wanted to sing your daughter's praises, because she really is doing a wonderful job."
He positively beams at you, leaning forward, hanging onto each and every word you say, nodding along as you detail all of her achievements. His gaze is intense, his eyes locked on your face so completely that it makes you feel a little hot under the collar. When you look up to meet his eyes, emphasizing key points of his daughter's progress, you have to pause and swallow around the dryness in your throat before continuing.
"So, um, as you probably already know, she's gifted. Extremely so. I'd like to place her in our accelerated seminar. It will give her, ah–" you clear your throat, watching the way his lips curve into a genuine smile, how his eyes seem to shimmer with tears. "Uhm, give her a chance to really grow and thrive with other students like her."
You take the last few minutes to explain the process- there will be further testing, then placement based on her cognitive function, though you know she'll score high in all the areas. When Higuruma signs the consent forms, you watch the strong, confident stroke of his hand as he weilds the pen (left-handed, you observe), his long, agile fingers, the way his suitcoat rides up past his wrist in a disheveled, endearing way. You wonder if his ex-wife ever paid attention to the fact that his clothes were ill fitting, or that the bags under his eyes were as dark as his hair.
"Thank you, Mrs, uh–"
"Miss, actually." Oh God, your face is hot. You give him your name, and he nods, pressing a finger to his temple.
"Right. I'll remember that." He digs around in his breast pocket and produces a business card. Sleek, simple, elegant, with just his name, email address, and phone number. At the corner is a tiny graphic of the scales of justice. He reaches for the pen and flips the card over to scrawl another number on the reverse side of the card before sliding it across the desk to you.
You pick it up, and he must pick up on your puzzled expression because he chuckles, rubbing the side of his neck. "If you need anything else, please call. And... thank you. For taking such an active interest in my daughter. It means...more than you might know."
"It's my job, Mr. Higuruma."
"Please, call me Hiromi." Call me, he thinks.
You nod. "Hiromi."

I'm sorry for taking so long to write and post this 🙏🏻
not fully proofread—
why am i so unsatisfied with this one?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"LOOK AT HIM, HE LOOKS SO SILLY!" you pulled on your boyfriend's sleeve to get his attention, the other hand pointing at a kitten standing on his two little back paws while his front paws were pressed against the glass separating him from you two. He was staring back at you with curious eyes, as if hoping to be adopted.
"Orange cats are stupid. You should know that by now, considering the many cat videos you watch online." he remarks, not fond of the idea of caring for a cat that'll be properly cause a huge mess of the apartment he shares with you. "But orange cats are so adorable?! How can you not like them?" you tried to argue, but he was already pulling you away from the glass pane.
"If I'm already getting a cat for your sake, I want a less annoying one." he stated, inspecting the many kittens with quite the sharp gaze. The two of you looked around the cat shelter, well he did, you just kept cooing at their cute behaviours, before eventually interacting with a few of them.
The many cats you've interacted with were all rejected by Scaramouche. Meaning you wanted them, but your boyfriend listed reasons why it wasn't a good idea. It was as if he was trying to punch that idea out of your head! But that won't work so easily.
It felt like you two went over every cat in the shelter already, disappointment was written all over your face as you didn't find a suitable one to take home with you.
That was until you laid your eyes on a cute small black kitten situated in the very end of the room, hidden in a small space behind various other cages. Your curiosity took over and you approached the cat to open its cage and interact with it... If only it didn't instantly jump out in hopes of escaping.
You could figure out why this specific feline had been placed at the end of the room. It was quite aggressive, trying to scratch you and hissing defensively. Although you weren't able to catch it, your boyfriend surely did, currently holding the vicious kitten in one hand, an arm's length away so that it wouldn't scratch his face.
The cat tried escaping Scaramouche, but its attempt wasn't very successful. "It's quite the hostile boy." he glares at it, "Probably a survival instinct."
"Huh? But it's still a kitten? He looks really young!" you mumble, feeling bad for the small creature. The catanaged to scratch your boyfriend's hand, escaping his grasp and backing into a corner where it hugged the wall and hissed.
"Oh my god... it's emotionally damaged." you whisper, slowly walking closer to it, careful to not scare it any further. You tried reaching your hand towards the feline, before retracing as he tried to scratch you. "I wanna take him home!"
Usually people would not go for the cats that were hostile, but you fell in love with it after just this small interaction. And how could you not when it reminded you of your boyfriend's feisty and sassy behaviour when you two first met?
"He's trying to scratch you." Scaramouche reasoned with you, as he inspected the small scratch on his hand. "He'll be troublesome to take care of, choose another one." And as if the cat understood him, it hissed even louder if possible. "I don't care, I want this cat, it has got a mind of its own and I love it." you pouted, trying to get closer to the kitten, reaching your hand out to him again.
"He's such a grumpy cat, I love him!" you explained your reasoning. To your delight, the cat didn't try to hurt you this time. Rather, it slowly sniffed your hand, carefully inspecting you before finally letting you pet his head. "Look, he accepted me! I'll name you Scarameow."
"Absolutely not." Scaramouche immediately declined, glaring at the feline as you picked it up to let him enjoy your warmth. That was Scaramouche's space this vicious creature was occupying right now! You're already so invested into this kitten, it was probably impossible to change your mind. "We can adopt him, but we're not calling him that name." he stated, resolute in his decision. This time, he was willing to adopt the cat. Its survival instinct and defensive attitude was practical and it could probably take care of itself.
"Come on! You should feel flattered I was thinking about you." you protested with a pout, trying to convince him otherwise. But just from his expression alone, you could tell that this matter was non-negotiable. "Alright, fine!" you reluctantly agreed. At least this kitten was warming up to you quickly and he will be coming home with you!
"Get him back in his cage." Scaramouche said, walking closer to take the cat out of your embrace, only for it to attack him again. But this time, the feline missed. "It's fine, I'll hold him!" you declared and your lover was already glaring at the smug looking cat. A silent war was brewing here...
The two of you settled for the black kitten you still have to name, adopting him from the cat shelter to bring back home. Your apartment has already been equipped with the necessary things you needed for a cat and even a little more. The feline ran around the apartment to explore while you treated Scaramouche's new wound.
It will probably be quite chaotic in the next few days. And you still didn't have a name for the kitten just yet, but everything will come in time.

Like the Boston quarantine zone, the apartment was draped in darkness by the time you slammed the door shut.
It had been a disappointing day all round: first Robert steals your guns and pills and decides for extra fun to jump you on your way back home, then queen Firefly herself decides that during your excursion through the other side of town’s checkpoint is the perfect time to bomb the place. You spent half the time trudging back along the side streets picking shrapnel out of your bleeding shoulder, and the other half waving off some straggler friends who were concerned about the new bust over your lip.
‘Robert. It was that goddamn Robert again’, you’d say and wave them all off back to their card games or their street sweeping duties. A few raised eyebrows or wolf whistles as they turned, but everyone knew that with Joel and you still together, it wasn’t you they should be worried about. It should be the fury in Joel’s eyes as soon as he found out a hair on your head had been harmed; it was the warpath, the ravage, the raging heart flinging and panging against the bars of its cage that would bring the whole state to its knees with its laceration.
The docks could wait till tomorrow. To be honest, at the moment, you were that tired you couldn’t really care less about your new lot of lost cargo. All you wanted to do right now was to kick off your muddy boots, crawl yourself into bed, and splat your face straight into the warm, broad expanse of the man that would be waiting there to lie beside you.
Speaking of, Joel had promised he would try and wait up for your return. By the way you shouldered your splintered apartment door, pushing with all your force until the creaking hinges finally gave in and swung open to the familiar musty smell of your shared room, you could already tell he hadn’t managed it. Instead of a pistol to your face in the case of you being a stranger, or one of Robert’s men, or even some half-hearted grumbles of salutations from the man who should have been hunched over the table trying to fix the new dent in his pistol, you were greeted with slain silence.
As you kick the stack of training manuals by the kitchen counter out of the way, the train of events before your arrival back home became even more crystal clear. By the half-thrown chipped tumbler and the fractured looking pill bottle left abandoned on the dining table, it wouldn’t even take FEDRA’s soldiers two guesses to find out how well his day had gone too.
You tiptoe around the side of the bed and squint, barely able to make out the gentle rise and fall of the sleeping man’s chest through the broken slants of the shades. Bless his heart, even in his sleep the crinkles in his forehead are as deep as the currents of the Allegheny River. He must be having a nightmare, from the way his mouth keeps fumbling and his fist squeezing into the frayed edge of his pillow. Even the vapours of moonlight that slanted in through the cragged skyline, the sharp pelts of spotlights that skim from time to time through your bedroom window like phantom shadows couldn’t soften the man’s haggard face.
With a sigh, you press the back of your hand fondly over the scruff of his cheek, trying not to wake him as you lean down to press a quick kiss against the creases on his forehead. No amount of light seemed to be able to crack through this man’s walls; no peace, little hope, and even less optimism, and still his fingers move out across the bed to try and reach yours as if on some invisible tide.
The gesture is small, but coming from Joel Miller it meant everything. It isn’t much, but you were the first person in twenty goddamn years he was willing to offer the remains of himself, his heart up to. So far, you hadn’t let him down; if you did, the both of you knew that he would regress even back further into himself, warping back into the shadow of a man he had been all those years ago when Tommy first left. When he left behind nothing but repressed rage and grief and a loathing so inflamed it could have scared a clicker stiff. At himself, at his brother, at the world - you could never tell. But you understood one thing for sure: Joel Miller wouldn’t be able to survive another loss. It would destroy him, change him too far beyond recognition that even he couldn’t come back from it.
You could tell from his dreams, that in the end, that’s what he thinks he deserves. And yet he always still reaches out, in one way or the other. ‘That’, you think as you let your hand fall from his face and flop it back down towards your lap ‘is the part of him that Sarah managed to get. That sweetness is just begging to be let out.’
You smile as you stand up and stretch, taking in a needed deep breath after the day you’d had. The same day you’d had for the last ten years, over and over again. And yet it was worth it, as you paced over the creaking floorboards and headed over to your side of the mattress, if it always ended like this: with comfort, stability, and a beating heart beside you.
‘Scootch.’
Only an incomprehensible murmur and two barely blubbering lips were your sign that Joel had even recognised what you were saying, but after a groan he obliged and shuffled his body over to the right. It left you ample of opportunity to slide in stealthily behind him, Joel already lifting his arm up in anticipation for the feel of your fingers over the side of his jean shirt.
For his sake, you pretend that neither of you notice the tremble that rushes like shooting spores straight down the muscles of his body. Instead, you relish in just languidly letting your fingers float like fireflies over the side of his hip; you spread them out, dancing through the coarse light just before you reach the bone. You scratch against the material, letting it ride up until your fingernail comes in contact with his flushing skin. Teasingly, you grab at the meat of his hip and enjoy the way he puffs out, unconsciously pushing himself back against you. You trace your fingers further forward, inch by inch, tracing the inseam of his jeans...and then suddenly stop. You only start again when he gives a hoarse groan in warning: one that reverberates through his back and makes your breath hitch as it grumbles against your chest.
You press yourself flush against him, giving in and properly wrapping your arm round his waist until your hand reaches his stomach. Finding his bellybutton, you give it a little poke which earns you a kick back from his leg in retaliation, but you can hear the light chuckle he admits despite himself.
‘Late night again, huh?’, he mumbles out. His pursed lips are half open and don’t rise from the pillow. As he lethargically blinks a couple of times, he pretends it’s because he’s too tired too move. He knows deep down in the pit of his stomach, though, that you’re too astute that let that lie fly over your head. You know the man too well, and you know damn rightly that he’s enjoying the feeling of your face smooshing itself into that little soft dip to the side of his shoulder blades. He’s just far too stubborn to ever admit it. But even so, Joel Miller’s silence speaks wonders.
‘Oh, same old same old. Robert’s being a little asshole again.’
‘Oh he is now, is he?’, he turns his head, making as if he’s trying to get up but your quick to push him back down again.
‘He and his little gang of morons can wait until tomorrow. I, on the other hand, am freezing cold. And you, Joel Miller’, you squeeze your arms into a vice around him and lift your legs up to slide in between his knees. They rest heavily, tangling against your own, and the weight is the most wonderous thing you’ve felt all day. ‘You are the best source of heat in all the damn zones put together.’
He lets his elbow rest comfortably on top of your own despite your words, so used to the back and forth between the two of you by now that they just wash over him. In fact, when he feels your forehead bump against the small litter of freckles you know line the left side of his shoulder, that spread of constellations running from the dip of his neck down his left shoulder blade, he even chuckles.
You feel his hand slide down from where it was resting under the cup of his chin to entangle with your fingers. He tugs them in to the heat radiating from his chest, and you take the opportunity to scratch out against the loose buttons of his shirt.
‘You just keeping me ‘round ‘cause of that? If I’m so damn warm, maybe I should go and donate all your jackets to FEDRA.’
You press a kiss against the tightened denim of his arched back and smirk.
‘Yeah, well maybe I should start selling you out for some ration cards. Five of them cards for a ten minute hug with Joel sounds like a pretty easy business to me.’
‘As long as I get 50%.’
‘25% and you’ve got yourself a deal.’
In a surprisingly tender move, Joel brings your intertwined hands up and presses an unhurried kiss to the back of your knuckles.
‘Hmph, we’ll negotiate in the morning. Maybe I’ll make it so you’re my only customer, and then I get the best of both worlds. Hugs and ration cards.’
He says the last part with a sarcastic intonation, but even he can’t stop the helplessly hoping sigh that whistles through his teeth. He shuffles back against you and closes his eyes against the creeping crimson threads of sunrise that begin to shoot out from behind the alleyway corners.
‘How about now, we just settle for hugs. I have no doubt you’ll manage to get Robert’s ration cards tomorrow as well.’
‘Back to business, huh? Sure thing boss.’
You manage to get enough momentum to hit his belly with your hands. He pretends to double over, pushing against you a little too hard and nearly thrusting your abdomen backwards and straight out onto the floor. You manage to grab onto his biceps, though, and clamber back up safely against him. He pulls you tighter, using his free hand to draw circles over your forearm. Once you’ve both settled down on the mattress again, you take a final yawn and settle your chin down on his shoulder.
‘Good night Joel.’
He hums. ‘Night, night, sweetheart.’
As consciousness began to ebb, your mind going into free fall, swirling with the beautiful chaos of oblivion, you could just about make out the hoarse whisper of Joel against his pillow. His voice cragged with the effort, with the heaviness of it, with the consequence of it, yet every word managed to ring out true. It was the most genuine, honest sentence Joel Miller had dared to speak since his baby girl had died, and he was petrified by the choice he was making.
But by god, if it was a choice, if it was a chance that he had to take.
‘I love you.’

Military Ball
This fanfic is based off of the post by @apathetickun !! I did change up the dialouge a little bit but i wouldnt have had the idea if it wasnt for their post!!
I am open to construtive critisim! just be nice!:)
Words: 1.1k
Summary: You go a military ball with the task force.
Tumblr media
You are going to be late.
You're going to be late to a military ball, of all things!  Soap said it wouldn’t be a bad idea to go, see all of us dressed up. Price agreed which was a shock, saying it would be refreshing to see our teammates out of the uniform, ya know switch it up.
So here you are showing up late. You weren’t trying to be late but where they are holding the ball is a long drive and traffic was a problem. Eventually you show up, 45 minutes late but hey you got here. You let a calm sigh as you walk towards the doors. Before you open them you check your phone camera to make sure you look presentable. You open the door and head in. As you walk in you notice a few people turn their heads. You brush it off and look for your team. You see Ghost as that man is hard to miss in a room. Soap, Gaz, and Price all see you and wave. You give them a small wave back.
“You're late, lass!” Soap chuckles.
“Ya ya, I know.” You say.
“Lovely dress.” Gaz comments.
“Thanks. I haven’t worn one in a while.” You say. You can Ghosts eyes on you. You had harbored feelings for your lieutenant for a while now.
“How about some drinks?” Soap suggests.
“Sure, bourbon?” You say, a unanimous yes for the team. Soap nods and walks to the bar.  You glance at Ghost. He looks phenomenal in his suit, although you think he looks good all the time, but this just feels different. Soap comes back with the drinks. You end up downing it.
“Damn lass didn’t know you could do that.” Soap comments with a sly smirk. You roll your eyes.
“She’s probably trying to get comfortable.” Ghost says. I nod
“Ya, loosen up a little.” You chime.
“We should do shots.” You suggest. “Just a few!” You add. Soap nods.
“Oh definitely! We are having fun tonight!” Soap says rushing to the bar. You hear Ghost let out a small sigh.
“Bored, Lt?” You ask.
“A little but watching Johnny get wasted at a military ball is entertaining.” He says, you nod.
“Ya it is.” You say, wanting to continue the conversation but not knowing what to say. Soap comes back with the shots. You watch Ghost lift his mask up to take a sip of his bourbon. God how you wanted to kiss them. You quickly look away with a light blush on your face.
“Y/n you're a genius, shots are a great idea!” Soap says, downing two.
“Maybe calm down a little. I’m not driving anyone home.” Price says. As the night progressed on Soap drank more, you had calmed down since you were driving. Before you released people were slow dancing. Price, Gaz, and Soap and found a table to sit at since Soap wasn’t being the smartest, but hey whats new. You shift your gaze to Ghost who is working on his second glass of bourbon, while you work on a glass of white wine.
“Do you like dancing, Ghost?” You ask, the drinks getting to you. It takes a moment for him to answer.
“No, not really.” He says. You nod, feeling weirdly disappointed. You take a sip from your drink trying to think of a way to change the subject.
“Do you like dancing, y/n?” He asks. You nod.
“Ya, but never got asked.” I say with a small chuckle. You take another sip of wine and watch as Ghost takes a sip of his drink.  You watch Ghost set his drink down and turn his body to you.
“.....Would you like to dance?” He asks, holding his hand out. You're taken aback by the situation unfolding in front of you. You can’t tell but Ghost is freaking out underneath the mask.
“I would love to, ghost.” You say resting your hand in his. As you guys walked to the dance floor you started panicking a little. You were going to dance with your lieutenant, the man you have feelings for. Now you're facing him, face flushed red. He sets his hands on your hips and you put yours around his neck.
“You look good tonight, ghost.” You say.
“Call me Simon.” He says.
“Well, then you good Simon.” You say. You can’t see but he is losing his mind, the nights he’s spent thinking about you, how you invaded his everyday thoughts. You don’t know the effect you have on him.
“Love the dress.” He says, his eyes roaming your body.
“Thank you.” You say, your bodies slowly swaying to the music and leaving little room between the two of you. You could stay like this forever, in his arms, you feel at peace and like the world is quiet for once. You feel as though you are the only two people here. Just you and Simon. It's perfect. You couldn’t ask for anything better than this.
“Can I tell you something?” You ask.
“Of course.” He says. You lean up to his ear, thinking with your heart not your head.
“I like you, Simon.” You whisper.
“Oh, do you now?” He asks.
“Yep.” You say, popping the p. “You're just so perfect. I know you have been through a lot and I just want to show that not everything in this world is cruel and unjust. I want you to be able to feel the love you should have gotten and should be getting.” You add, letting your feelings pour out of you. Before you can get another word out you feel Simon’s lips on yours. His hands pulling you close.
“I like you too, y/n.” He says. You didn’t care about anything else right now. You felt like you were on cloud 9. You kiss him again. His lips moving against yours and his hands on your hips. Then you hear whistling and apploses, right there's other people here. You feel your face get red.
“Fucking hell.” He mumbles, his hand still on the small of your back.
“Well, shall we join our teammates for the rest of the night?” You say.
“What if we left?” He suggests.
“You know what, ya, my feet hurt.” You say. You say your goodbyes and Simon walks you out to your car, which isn’t too far from his.
“I’ll call you in the morning and we can have a clear conversation about this ok?” Simon says. You nod.
“Of course.” You say smiling. Simon kisses you one last time before you guys have to go your separate ways. This night turned out to be a good one.

when and how might our relationship start ?
pairing: zb1 maknae line x gn!reader warnings: ricky's and your mom are just ANNOYING🤬, GYUVIN AND READER ADE LIARS, pining gunwook, yujin has communication issues, the reader in yujins is considered a CHILD (if you ain't a child dni tf?), english isn't my first language!!! genre: fluff, maybe a slight bit of angst if you squint your eyes real hard synopsis: why you started fake dating. notes: i know i said I'm only gonna write for mline + matthew from now on but honestly fuck matthew (lovingly). FUNFACT gyuvins is basically what happened to me 😍😍 life is a fanfic fr. for some reason i am not aware of i included some smau... maybe my urge to write one finally took over? who knows. ignore the bad quality pls.
shen quanrui - to get your parents off of your backs
it was basically like this: rickys family and your family knew each other for decades now. your moms were already besties when they went to s highschool together 😭
so best believe they were THRILLED when they got pregnant around the same time
and since day 1
seriously. since ricky and you were little INFANTS
you two were being shipped by your parents
"oh, they must marry one day!" 🥰 no
you two grew up together and were naturally really close to each other
but ROMANTIC FEELINGS? nuh uh. not a thing. not happening 🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️
but your parents- or more specifically, your mothers- did not want to hear it
they're CONVINCED you two will fall in love eventually and won't leave you two alone
after years of suffering and repeated "no mom we're not gonna be dating!"s you two hit your LIMIT
so you two went ahead and decided to get your family off of your backs and to start 'dating'!
only to 'break up' like a month later and tell them that you actually aren't a good fit at all🔥
your parents literally threw a big ass party once you announced your relationship… awkward
Tumblr media
kim gyuvin - to prank your friends
you actually thought it would be funny to tell your friends that you two started dating; they wouldn't believe at all you but it would be hilarious
hilarious you said. TURNS OUT, it wasn't all that funny
instead of not believing you when gyuvin and you dropped that bomb as believable as possible, they started cheering and congratulating you
"we knew this would happen eventually! finally!" you what. 😃
originally you planned on playing the prank for one day and then tell the truth- but by the way everybody started congratulating you (even a teacher exclaimed that she was happy for you!) you two couldn't help but feel incredibly bad at the end of the day
so you two did the only plausible thing to do in a situation like that; continue on lying instead of simply telling the truth 👍🏻
the very next day you two came to school again, still as a couple. it hurt your heart to lie to your friends like that, but they would be SO disappointed in you if they found out about the joke :(
Tumblr media
park gunwook - to make your crush jealous
gunwook was a close friend of yours and he was aware of your unrequited crush on that one guy in your class
well, kind of unrequited? it was honestly hard to tell for sure. your crush sometimes acted like he was interested in you, on other days you didn't even exist to him
his mixed signals drove you CRAZY🥴
so out of pure desperation you asked gunwook for a small favor.. to please fake date you in order to make your crush jealous
AND REVEAL HIS TRUE FEELINGS!!!
gunwook was reluctant at first but he also had a small but secret crush on you so he took his chance and RAN
you had like an hour long talk to him about your great plan, about do's and don't's, about boundaries and what not
he was just silently listening and nodding his head whenever needed
(his heart shattering could be heard whenever you mentioned your real crush) 💔💔💔
you let your other close friends know about your plan too in hopes they will help to make it believable
Tumblr media
han yujin - to prove that he is not a 'child'
poor yujin has to go through that 'youngest in the friendgroup' treatment 😪
everybody treats him like a baby and he feels as if he's not taken seriously by any of his friends
bro should probably try COMMUNICATING with them homies but oh well
and in his mind, the ultimate proof to not being a baby is having a significant other 👍🏻
and this is where you come in!!
you're one of the very few people who did not make fun of him- maybe because of your similar age- and that's why he felt save to propose that idea to you
and considering that you weren't taken all that seriously either due to your age… he was sure that you would understand where he was coming from!!
and to his delight you actually agreed to fake date him! 🤗
so after discussing everything further, you two announced your not-so-real relationship to your friends the very next day
YUJIN'S PLAN WORKED! there was gyuvin who dramatically whined about "his two babies growing up way too fast"
but the question now is… for how long should this keep going…?

A/N - My love for the cowboy space dad, Sam Coe, has eclipsed to the point where I am now writing him fanfic...what a time to be alive, y'all. Anyway, enjoy the results of my brain rot, and let me know what you thought of it >.> More may be to come if he continues to plague my every waking thought
WARNINGS: Some angst on poor Cora's part, thanks to Lillian. Some Lillian bashing, thanks to reader. It's not specified if reader and Sam are fully together at this point in the story, but it's implied. Post 'Matters of the Hart' mission.
Tumblr media
The bay of the Razorleaf slowly descended with a hydraulic hiss, finally clanking against the tarmac of a landing pad. From the bottom of the ramp, you watched as the dusty, endlessly sun-bleached landscape of Akira came into view. The first unfiltered breath of the atmosphere hit the back of your throat unpleasantly. How anyone tolerated such a low humidity every single day, you couldn’t guess. Akila was kind enough not to be a sweltering wasteland on top of it all, so…small victories there.
You’d not been much impressed with the sight of the planet the first time you’d landed on it, and it still gave no better impression now. Sand-swept walls and buildings rose from an equally monotone environment. It wasn’t hard to picture the planet might one day just swallow the city whole and leave nothing after to show there’d been civilization there. Perhaps through sheer stubbornness and pride, the Akila City citizens kept their place in the galaxy.
A long-suffering sigh and a set of muted footsteps approach from your right. Sam stops beside you and gazes across his home planet with equal apprehension. His arms cross and he levels his hometown’s ‘Welcome to Akila City’ archway a woeful stare.
“Never gets any easier…”
You’re not surprised by his reluctance to return home. A visit to Jacob Coe was never an occasion to celebrate, and this one would be particularly disappointing, given Sam would also be relinquishing his daughter to Lillian for that long-time-promised week vacation Cora mentioned every opportunity she could. You didn’t fault the almost-teen for being excited to see her mother, but it wasn’t hard to miss Sam’s lack of enthusiasm for the whole affair. He loved his daughter above anything else, and letting her go for such a length of time wouldn’t be easy.
This stop was a ‘two birds, one stone’ of all of Sam’s least favorite activities. His less-than-cheery mood was understandable, and you couldn’t help but share this feeling. After months of the inquisitive girl aboard your vessel, you’d gotten so used to the random questions and cringe-inducing jokes that the impending silence was admittedly quite daunting.
Akila just so happened to be the closest planet to where Lillian had finished up a month-long assignment. With the promise that she had time-off to spend, Sam had agreed to have the Ranger pick Cora up here, and it would ultimately be where you and Sam retrieved her after their time together. It ate the cowboy up inside, you could tell. But he kept quiet and put on a facade of support if only for Cora’s sake.
“I don’t see Lillian’s ship.” He added, sweeping his gaze past the entrance to the city and across to the other landing pads. Concern began to overtake the displeasure of being on Akila, and you could instantly follow where his internal thoughts were leading.
“We did get here earlier than planned.” You finally say, laying a calming hand on the man’s jacketed arm and earning his attention. It’s not like you were were defending the woman, but it was a little silly to assume anything when the Razorleaf had just touched down almost 2 hours before you’d agreed to rendezvous with the Ranger. You might dislike Lillian Hart, but you weren’t that petty. “Give it some time.”
“Yeah, yeah…you’re right.” After an affirming deep breath and a weary shake of his head, some of the tension in his shoulders eases. Some, but not all. “I’m just…not too optimistic about this.”
“I know.”
“She’s flaked before, and this one means a whole lot to Cora.” He went on, as if you weren’t already aware of the meaning behind it all. “I can’t help but worry she’s not gonna show.”
“We’ll handle that if it comes to it. For now, just take a breath.” You say, flashing him your best reassuring smile. Even he could tell it was a little forced, but he did return the gesture with a muted one of his own. At the very least, you made sure he didn’t have to face whatever might happen by himself.
Razorleaf’s airlock releases behind you, and Cora’s beaming smile leaves the ship before she does, her small suitcase of belongings in tow behind her. You’re willing to bet there are more books than there are clothes in there, but hey, you wouldn’t judge. She blunders down the ramp with an energy you’d never seen before, curls bouncing atop her head the whole way, finally coming to a breathless stop next to her father.
“Is she here yet?” She questions, eyes already darting around the spaceport before receiving an answer.
“Not just yet, string bean.” Sam gave her hair a good-natured rustle, smile regaining some of its warmth as he addressed his daughter. “I’ve got some business with your grandpa first, so we arrived a bit early. I’m sure she’ll be touching down soon enough.”
You don’t comment on the edge of uncertainty that accompanies that last part. And thankfully, Cora doesn’t ask to go with her father for a family visit. Sam always preferred her to be as far away from Jacob as possible. At some point, you assume Cora understood why, though she’d never directly voiced it.
Sam pats his daughter’s cheek affectionately. “I shouldn’t be too long. Y/N’s gonna keep you company until your mother gets here. Don’t you go anywhere until I get back to say goodbye, alright?”
“I won’t.”
“Promise?”
Cora gives an exaggerated little roll of her eyes, but her smile is ever-present. “I promise, dad."
“That a’girl.” He says, leaning down to place a gentle kiss against the top of her head. Then, his attention turns to you. “You two gonna be alright?”
“We’ll be just fine.” Is your reply, promising through unspoken word to keep Cora safe and sound while he was away. The reassurance is what he needed most, and you were more than happy to provide it. “We’ll make sure to have way more fun than you will.”
“Heh. Yeah, well…that won’t be too hard.” Sam’s head tilted a little, eyes squinting, already picturing the impending encounter with his own father. “I’ll comm you when I’m done.”
You wave your companion goodbye, watching him disappear past the protective walls of Akila City, then turn to the girl practically buzzing with excitement beside you. “We’ve got a bit of time to kill. So…where to first?”
This earns you an amused laugh, and the two of you begin walking towards the entrance of the city. “Do you even need to ask?”
“I figured today might be the day you just surprise me.”
Tumblr media
You’re not sure how much time you spend standing around watching Cora browse the many books in Akila City’s—woefully small, in your opinion—selection. Seeing her over the moon at each new title, eyes scanning the summaries and even skimming the inner pages never got old. Her enthusiasm for the first new book she’d laid eyes on was just as exuberant as what was possibly the 18th book that afternoon.
The girl was a talker, chatting up the bookstore owners with the passion of a scholar. You could tell the women weren’t used to having someone so forthcoming with their love of literature in their store, but they quickly joined Cora’s wavelength and discussed their favorite volumes at length.
More than content to stand off to the side and let the girl have her fun, you interjected where appropriate, but for the most part just let the conversation go without you. Cora could talk for two people, anyway.
Eventually, even she had her fill of the bookstore, stomach grumbling with the need for food. You walked out of the store only a few hundred credits poorer—a miracle if there ever was one—and headed off to the chunks establishment just down the way. Akila was a maze at the best of times, but for once you managed to navigate the streets with little trouble.
You stood in line and debated with the young bibliophile what the best flavor of chunks was, but couldn’t come to an agreement. Your own favorite was completely out of stock when you managed to get help from the attendant, so you went with Cora’s favorite instead.
With sated stomachs and a few new books for Cora in tow, you return to the spaceport to wait on the ship until either Sam or Lillian arrive. One glance around at the other landing pads confirms that Lillian’s ship had still not touched down. Sam still hadn’t comm’d you after an hour and a half, which meant his meeting with Jacob probably wasn’t going well. Regardless, you knew he’d make his way back to the Razorleaf in time to see his daughter off, even if it meant leaving business unfinished with his father.
You hid your worry behind a carefully neutral interest in whatever Cora had been talking about while you walked back to the Razorleaf, but that pit of dread began to dig its way into your stomach. Anger simmered right behind it. Cora didn’t seem to notice your rapidly worsening mood, which was all the better. If your fears turned out to be unwarranted, no need to rub it off on the girl.
When the ship’s communicator finally chimed with an incoming transmission, both yours and Cora’s heads jerked up. Being closer to the cockpit, you slid into the captain’s chair just as Cora ran by your side. Immediately, you knew it wasn’t Sam reaching out, and instead the woman you were meant to be meeting in…28 minutes. Cora’s face lit up with the prospect that it was her mother calling to tell them she was almost there.
You couldn’t bring yourself to be that optimistic.
One touch on your control panel accepted the transmission. Before you could even issue the standard greeting, Cora chimed in with a bubbly, “Hi, Mom!”
Hearing her daughter’s voice had caught the Ranger off guard. There was a pause before she responded. “Cora, angel…how are you?”
Her tone of voice made you stiffen in your seat, mouth pressing into a thin line, but Cora didn’t notice. She leaned forward against your chair’s armrest.
“I’m great! Are you almost here? I’ve got my bag all packed, so as soon as Dad comes back from Grandpa’s we can leave.”
“Ah, I was actually hoping to speak with your dad. Do you know how long he’ll be?”
Figures she’d try to speak with Sam instead of breaking her daughter’s heart directly, you think bitterly. You wondered if she even realized how selfish it was to put the responsibility on her ex-husband to break this crushing news.
“I’m sure he’ll be here soon. And I found a few books we can read together while we travel to wherever we are going. I know you’ll like them.”
Your heart broke further with each new word the curly-haired pre-teen spoke, knowing what was about to happen. The taste of your chunks packet earlier was overshadowed by the bitterness of anger as it bubbled hotter under your skin.
“That’s great, sweetie, but…” Lillian’s voice trailed off, guilt or embarrassment or some equally fitting emotion coloring her tone. Perhaps she’d realized that there was no softening the blow she was about to deliver. “…listen. Something came up that I have to take care of. I’m so sorry, Cora. I’m not gonna be able to make it this time.”
A full second, maybe two, of silence passed, Cora processing what her mother had said. Seeing the girl’s face morph from elation at hearing her mother’s voice to something akin to confused betrayal tore at the deepest parts of your heart. If you could have saved her from this, you would have. But Cora being in the ship meant that she’d hear every word spoken no matter where in the craft she was.
“Oh.”
That one word, uttered with such devastating resignation. Cora straightened from leaning across your armrest and stood there with a carefully put together mask. You could see every crack and fracture in the young girl’s facade, but she put up a valiant effort to appear unaffected.
Lillian must have heard the same, and continued again before you could interject anything.
“I know how much you were looking forward to this, and trust me when I say I was too. I’d love nothing more than to take you away to a little paradise together and just spend the days hangin’ out without a care in the world.” Lillian’s attempts at smoothing over the hurt did nothing at all to fix anything about this. “I promise you, we’ll get together and have our week-long vacation, do or die, one of these days.”
Cora didn’t say anything. So unlike the chatty pre-teen. She looked down at her shoes, before quietly taking a hold of her suitcase you now realized she’d dragged with her in her rush to the cockpit.
“It’s alright, mom. We’ll figure it out someday.” Dear God, she barely sounded like Cora…all color was missing from her voice. So little life.
“I love you, you know that?”
“I know.” And with that, she turned and padded her way back to the cot at the back of the ship. Perhaps she didn’t want you to witness her misery, because she went so far as to close the hatch to the cockpit, leaving you by yourself with Lillian still connected. Even with the hatch closed, Cora might still hear the conversation, but given everything that had happened, you no longer gave a damn.
“What is it this time, Lillian?” Your voice is full of barely restrained venom as you lean forward in your chair. You can’t see the woman through the audio transmission, but you were glaring anyway. “What’s so important that you couldn’t keep your promise to your daughter?”
The sweetness present when she’d spoken with Cora was absent, replaced by cold indifference when addressing you. The contrast was so stark, if you hadn’t already known her, you’d say they were two separate women. “You talk like this doesn’t hurt me just as much as it does Cora.”
“Because it doesn’t.” You say, reminding yourself to restrain the worst of your emotions. It wouldn’t do Cora any favors by cursing out her absentee mother from the other room. That wasn’t what the girl needed right now. Your head shakes with a rueful scoff. “If you could only see, Lilian…the way that girl’s face shattered. Then maybe you’d understand just how much more she’s hurting. But no, instead you do this over comms where you don’t have to look her in the eyes. Hell, you were going to put it on Sam to break the news, weren’t you?”
Lillian, perhaps smartly, doesn’t rise to that particular insinuation. “I do what I can, when I can to be there. It’s unfortunately a lot less than I’d like, but my duty is to protect the people of Freestar Space. I have obligations I can’t just ignore.”
“You seem to have forgotten your obligations as a mother in the process.”
“I’d give anything to be there with my little girl. Don’t ever imply I wouldn’t.”
“If that were the case, you’d have found someone else to handle whatever ‘came up.’ When it comes down to it, you don’t give anything, and you need to. Each missed visit convinces her that she’s another step further down on your list of priorities. What do you think happens when she believes she’s at the bottom?” You retort, already exhausted over this whole conversation.
“Cora knows how much she means to me, how important she is.” Funny, you think Lillian almost has herself convinced.
If it kept going at this rate, you were likely to start yelling, and that wouldn’t end well. Besides, Cora needed someone to be with her right now, so things needed to end quickly.
You let out a heavy, exasperated sigh, voice growing much quieter as you reigned in your fury. “Look, Lillian…Sam already explained this to you. You can’t keep doing this. Cora can’t. She’s already 12. 13 in just a few months. Before you know it, she won’t be a child anymore. At this rate, there will come a point when she decides waiting for you to bother isn’t worth the heartache. There will come a day when you retire, when the need to fulfill a duty is over and done, and she will not be there. Because in the moments when it mattered—really mattered—you weren’t there for her. You realize that, right?”
You hear the woman sigh, and deep down, you know she hates that this conversation ever had to take place as much as you do. You know, really, that Lillian had good intentions with her promises. And that’s what made it all the more frustrating when she failed to deliver. She was well aware of how important this all was. Her damned chronic workaholic personality and inability to set aside the needs of the many just wouldn’t allow her to put anything else above it. Even at the cost of her daughter’s trust and happiness.
“You sound more like her mother than I do sometimes…” The Ranger admits tiredly. “I don’t know whether to be angry or grateful.”
“Honestly, I don’t care how you feel about it.” You say with a shrug. “She needs someone to be there for her. Sam is a wonderful father, and always there when it counts, but that girl needs a mother too. I know I’ll never replace you in her heart, it's not something I'm trying to do anyway. But I’ll fill whatever role she needs me to be, if it keeps her smiling.”
You hear a muffled beeping through the transmission, followed by Lillian’s muttered curse. “Damn it…looks like I’m about to have company.”
“Spacers?” You weren’t really concerned, or even cared, and asked only out of obligation.
“Crimson Fleet, I think.” There’s a pause, and you know that the conversation had come to an end. Nothing had resolved, but you knew Lillian wasn’t likely to change who she was after a short talk. “Listen, tell Cora I love her. I expect I’ll hear from Sam later on about this. He has every right to be angry. I am who I am, and that’s exactly the reason we never would have worked out in the end. I only regret Cora is suffering because of it. But for now, duty calls.”
Always duty with this woman. “Be safe, Lillian.” You bid, already reaching for the console button to end the transmission.
“You too.”
The audio cuts off abruptly, and you lean back in your chair with a slow inhale. Dragging your hands down your face, you release the last of your anger in a harsh exhale. Best to get rid of it now, so it wasn’t obvious when you went to see Cora. Not wasting anymore time, you stand from the chair and open the hatch.
You find Cora sat on your cot, a thousand-yard stare fixed at some point on the floor in front of her. Her smile was long gone, replaced instead by the remains of whatever facade she’d crafted to appear put together and ok. The little suitcase she’d packed with all her belongings sat a few feet away. It was zipped halfway open, as if she’d began to unpack, but then thought better of it.
A sad sigh leaves your lips. For a moment, you just watch her, calculating how best to approach this conversation. Sam was much better equipped to handle something like this, but you weren’t sure how much longer he’d be, and it pained you having to see her in such despair. You couldn’t just sit back and let her stew in whatever thoughts might be dragging her further down.
You slowly approach the still-silent Cora, electing to sit at her side just a few inches apart. Whether she wanted physical comfort, or just someone to be nearby, you weren’t sure. But you were close enough that, should she need you, she didn’t need to go far.
And for awhile, the two of you just…sit there. Words fail you, and try as hard as you might to find the right ones to say that might heal some of the hurt in Cora’s heart, nothing feels good enough. But eventually, you hear the girl sniffle. The first sign that her careful hold on her emotions was beginning to crack.
“Mom is a good Ranger. She’s out there saving lots of lives and making the galaxy less dangerous.” Cora’s wavering voice says, and you nearly want to cry yourself hearing just how hard it was for her not to shed those tears. Perhaps this was something she told herself each day as justification for her mother's constant absence. “I know she’ll make it up to me one day. She always does, eventually.”
You bite your lip. “Cora-“
“But…just once,” another sniffle breaks through, and then the first tear slides down her cheek, “I was hoping that…that it would all go right and we’d be a-able to see each other for a whole week. There’s s-so much I want to show her and talk to…to her about.”
More tears follow the first, and you lift your sleeve to wipe them from her face gently. But they keep coming, now that the floodgates had opened, and Cora openly wept as she sat beside you, her true feelings spilling over in bucketfuls. You did your best to keep up, but it only takes minutes for her to be shaking with the overwhelming sadness.
“I just want my mom…” She sobs, covering her eyes with her hands to try stopping the flow. “That’s all.”
A sharp cry has you reaching for her shoulders and pulling the girl in close, and your heart leaps when she forcefully wraps her arms around your middle and buries her tear-stained face in your shirt. What you wouldn’t give to drag Lillian here by the hair and force her to be here for her daughter…
With soothing ‘shushing’ noises, you gently rock her back and forth, one hand patting her back and the other holding her head close. You don’t know what to say to her, truly. Finding the words to tell Lillian how much you thought she failed her daughter constantly and consistently was easy. Finding the words to tell her child that she deserved so much more than what she was being given? That was much more difficult.
You sat there while Cora poured her heart out. Through the sobs, she mumbled muffled and incoherent sentences into your shirt. You’re not sure what half of them were, but if she just wanted to get it all out and vent, that was fine with you. Your shirt was damp with her tears, but that was alright too. Nothing would pull you away from offering whatever support you could while she worked her way through the many emotions.
Eventually, Cora’s sobbing began to ebb, the shaking becoming less pronounced. Her breathing evens to something less stuttered and shallow, and before too long you realize she’d managed to cry herself to sleep against your side. The poor thing…you continued the gentle rocking motion just in case, not wanting to wake her up.
A dull beeping noise caught your attention, and you look up towards the cockpit where it emanated from. Your communicator, you realized. That was probably Sam, wanting to let you know that he was done with whatever him and Jacob had needed to discuss. Part of you thinks to get up and answer, but the thought of jostling Cora awake was too much. You sat there, figuring that Sam would return to the ship to look for the two of you.
Tumblr media
If you had to guess, it was about ten minutes before you heard the footsteps coming up the Razorleaf’s ramp. You didn’t move from your spot, listening as the airlock hissed open. Somehow, the noise didn’t wake the exhausted Cora, who barely moved from her place next to you.
Sam nearly walked past you sitting on the cot, but his peripheral vision caught your presence, and he stopped. He took in the sight of his daughter curled into your side, her posture clearly indicating that she’d been crying. You met his gaze with a stony, cold fury, one he understood wasn’t directed at him personally. That one, silent stare was all he needed to figure out what had occurred while he’d been away.
The inquisitive expression he’d worn coming in vanished, jaw setting tightly. Clearly agitated, Sam stepped a few paces away, hand rubbing along his jaw in an effort to remain calm in the face of what Lillian had put his daughter through once again. He looked like he wanted to throw something. His breathing was more pronounced, though came through in slow, methodical inhale and exhales through his nose. Truthfully, you don’t think you’d ever seen Sam so angry.
In time, he finds himself again, stowing away the anger for the sake of his daughter. He could vent his feelings to Lillian later, when Cora wouldn’t hear it, but for now the important thing was making sure his daughter was alright. That was something you would never grow tired of seeing; Sam’s absolute dedication to his little girl, no matter what.
He moves to sit on her other side, and leans down to kiss the top of her head. It didn’t matter to him if she was still sleeping. You slowly move to shift Cora’s weight over to Sam, and somehow manage it without waking the sleeping pre-teen. She stirs, but her eyes never open.
Sam takes off his cowboy hat and sets it next to him, leaning back and holding Cora closer to him. He settles in to sit there for awhile, unsure how long she’ll be out for. Then, his eyes glance up to meet your own, holding them with a look so full of…something, that you can’t look away.
“Thank you. You were there for her when she needed it.” He says, his voice raspy and quiet so as not to wake Cora. And while you know he couldn’t have heard your conversation with Lillian before, it’s eerie how similar his words were. “I appreciate that beyond words.”
You give a little shrug, eyes drifting back down to the girl in his arms. “She needs her dad now.”
“And you, Y/N.” He says, drawing your attention back up to him. He offers the smallest of smiles. “She needs you too.”
Unsure of what to say, you simply sit back and make yourself comfortable, waiting for Cora to awaken. Your hand rubs along her back, hoping that the two of you would somehow be able to fix some of what Lillian had broken.

Danny Phantom Randomness (Principal Masters)
Tumblr media
Not sure if this idea has been used in the phandom before, probably not since it’s a pretty common for the principal of a school in a cartoon to be the antagonist in some way, but I thought I’d share it anyways. So here’s what I’m thinking. Personally I think it would have made a lot more sense for Vlad to switch tactics and double down on trying to win Danny over instead of going full cookie-cutter-bad-guy-that-wants-to-rule-the-world after cloning him failed which would make him realize that his little badger really is one of a kind and what he has can’t be replicated.
Up until this point Vlad’s been making Danny’s life more difficult instead of easier which was his whole sales pitch when they first met...
Vlad: Daniel, stop. Think about the things I could show you, the doors I could open for you. You, Danny Phantom, and I, Vlad Plasmius. Together, we could rule.
Then there’s these comments Vlad made to Danny in Reign Storm...
Vlad: Sneak attack, very good, Daniel.You're getting more like me with every battle.
Danny: I AM NOTHING LIKE YOU!
Vlad: Oh, you're not? Using your powers to get back at people you don't like? Throwing the first punch? You're more like me than you know.
I’m so disappointed this didn’t develop into something more interesting where Danny starts to genuinely worry he’s becoming too much like Vlad which would have made the events of The Ultimate Enemy twice as cool because it’d be like a glimpse of that reality where he’d actually become worse than Vlad. But, back to the topic at hand! I’ve mentioned this in a few of my fanfics but I think the whole cloning thing was more of a desperate attempt to get Danny on his side since Vlad never really made any serious attempts to tempt him to join willingly and just spent the whole time bashing Jack and telling Danny he’d be a better father.
With that in mind, rather than being a petty rich bully after Danny gets Vlad’s mansion destroyed in Season 3 what if Vlad decided to put his foot down to “re-educate” him so to speak? What I mean by that is instead of running for Mayor of Amity Park, why didn’t Vlad try to replace the principal of Casper High? For one thing it would have ACTUALLY made sense because the position doesn’t require living somewhere for more than 6 months and its purely based on their education and teaching experience. And I think overshadowing the right people on a smaller scale would make it more believable than the whole Mayor thing.
Vlad could of course still be a jerk about a lot of things to get back at Danny like force the whole dress code thing, however, it would have been an interesting twist if when Danny comes to Vlad to apologize and ask for a truce he graciously accepts which totally throws Danny for a loop. Why? Because that was the plan all along! Vlad wanted Danny to learn there are consequences to his actions, realized that fighting him is counterproductive, and on top of that, to actually show how much easier he could make Danny’s life by letting him become a part of it.
Honestly, I absolutely love the idea of him unexpectedly becoming the cranky overprotective type kind of like what you see in this amazing comic strip by @lilianade-comics: https://www.tumblr.com/lilianade-comics/703807353584320512/aw-man-dont-you-hate-it-when-your-arch-enemy?source=share
Think about it. If Vlad started to make Jack look bad without actively insulting him to make Danny finally get fed up with being hunted by his parents to the point where he’d reluctantly go there just to catch his breath once the two of them agree to a cease fire. Trouble with the high school bullies? In comes Uncle Vlad who happens to be the richest man in the world and a close personal friend of the Fenton family so Danny’s off limits. Ghost attack? Vlad helps cover up Danny disappearing to fight them or even scares them off if he has an important test that day. The list goes on on what Vlad could do to either make Danny’s life a living hell in a more personalized way by invading his school life or a lot better depending on their interactions at Casper High.
Long story short its basically using the idea that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar and all that so seeing Vlad gradually start doing nice things for Danny from time to time might help change his tune. Because deep down Danny DOES want to learn more about being half-ghost, but he refuses to accept Vlad’s offer to join him because he hasn’t really done anything to make it appealing. Vlad’s always insulting Danny and his father so if you ask me, giving him the praise he doesn’t get at home or at school could change so much between them...
Vlad’s just gotta be smarter about it.
Obviously Danny would be suspicious if Vlad started acting too nice to him right away so the changes would be gradual. And whenever he goes to Vlad for help or at the very least asks if he’ll cut him some slack Vlad will reward him for coming to him first. Especially because unlike his parents, Vlad knows exactly how much he’s dealing with and I’d love it if what started off as a plan to manipulate Danny transformed into an actual student and mentor relationship leading into a redemption arc instead of whatever Season 3 was.
And there you have it. Principal Masters AU anyone?

Vox x masc!reader, who cackles like a crazy person because of everything- totally not because I do that 👀 and Vox being the control freak he is HAS TO know why the fuck the reader is cackling
And the disappointment Vox feels whenever the reader explains why they are laughing, because it’s just the straight up dumbest thing ever
Btw thank youuuu so much for feeding us all with your immaculate fanfics 🫶🫶
Silly creature - Vox x masc!reader
A/N: THIS IS SUCH A SILLY IDEA I LOVE IT!! I made some little changes but I hope you still enjoy it :D
Word count: around 700
There he was, laughing at something (probably very dumb) again. Vox loved his boyfriend a lot, but he just couldn’t bear your weird sense of humour sometimes.
You were sitting on his bed, reading some book about earth’s animals. What could be so funny about that? He had no damn idea.
Vox sat down next to you on his bed, looking at the book, yet he found nothing funny in there. “What dumb thing are you laughing at now huh?” He waited for you to stop cackling before he got the answer. “Look at this!! It’s a fucking kiwi bird! Like the fucking fruit because it looks like one!!” He just looked at you with pure disappointment. Although he loved seeing you laugh so much, he just couldn’t bring himself to be actually disappointed in you. “Ha ha, very funny Y/n”
“You can’t tell me this isn’t the silliest creature you’ve ever seen!” You kept looking at the pictures in the book. “You’re a fucking silly creature” he said as he started tickling you. “Hey! Stop that” you said in between laughs. “I can’t breathe!” you two laughed, and after a while he finally let you go and turned around. And that was his biggest mistake. Literally seconds after he felt something hit the back of his screen.
“Ow, what the fuck!” he yelled as he turned around again to face you. He saw you with one of the pillows in your hands, about to swing at him again. He tried to dodge your attack, but he was too late, the pillow hit him straight in the face. “Oh now you messed up!” he said before grabbing another pillow and swinging at you.
The same thing happened the next day (as if it didn’t happen all the time anyways). You and Vox were in the middle of a meeting, when suddenly he heard you start laughing quietly, he looked over at you just to see you drawing caricatures of the overlords that were sitting right next to you, in the same damn meeting.
He couldn’t help but look at you with the same disappointed look in his eyes. You looked back at him with a big smile, he just knew you were going to draw one of him as well.
After the meeting you came up to him with a bunch of drawings. The first one you showed was obviously him. You drew him with one eye literally sticking out of his screen, referencing the fact how big his eyes get when he uses his hypnosis powers.
He also had cat ears and a tail AND he was wearing a maid dress. You laughed at the expression on his face. “Why the fuck am I wearing that!? You know I’d never do that!” he was honestly embarrassed, mainly because you both knew he would if only you asked him to.
Vox came back to his room after a long ass day, only to see that you’re nowhere to be seen. You’d usually be waiting for him on the couch, scrolling through your phone or reading some book. Or doing some other weird things. Even after dating you for almost 2 years now, you were still full of surprises.
He looked everywhere for you, he even went through all the cameras in the VVV tower, but he still couldn’t find you. It was weird for you to disappear just like that, you were usually really clingy and would barely ever leave his side.
When you saw his worried expression you couldn’t help but laugh. That’s when he noticed you. You were covered in paint in a way that would make you blend in with the walls in the room. He couldn’t believe you sometimes. You were really the weirdest demon he’s ever met. He walked up to you and picked you up, immediately putting you in the bath so you could get the paint off your skin.
“You’re really a pain in the ass sometimes, Y/n” he sighed. “But you love me for it!” you said with a giggle, and you were right, he loved you more than anything.
A/N: I had so much fun writing this jdbsjd, I’m gonna work on the rest of your awesome ideas and i hope you enjoyed this one! Have a great day/night peeps <3

Heyo! I love your Rafie fics! I was wondering if you would like to write a fanfic where S/I doesn't like rain. Like she jokes about them feeling like "watery knives", but even if she doesn't like rain too much... She plays in it just to see fish boyo happy even though she is grumbling.
Idk just wanna see Rafayel be a tease more. Lol thank you for your hard work!
my first official request on this blog!! tysm for requesting! i had fun with this one bc i love him
SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN ˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
content: rafayel x gn!reader (was meant to be fem but in the end no gendered terms were used), no y/n, raf gets a cold at the end
⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ Rafayel somehow convinces you into the rain with him.
Tumblr media
The streetlamps scattered around glowed in contrast to the dimly lit afternoon sky, hues of indigo and rouge signaling the beginning of a cold, familiar night in Linkon City.
And what would be a familiar night without Rafayel at your side?
He’s slowly and surely weaseled his way into your routine strolls, in which he now accompanies you whenever he has the time to. Strangely, he always has free space in his schedule for you, which he insists is a coincidence, or that it was simply fate that brought you two together once more.
“So what’s our next stop? The bakery downtown for the third time this week?” Rafayel asked, balancing himself on the curbs of the sidewalk.
“Second, actually.” You corrected quickly with a glare. “Besides, you didn’t have to come along today either… Stop complaining.”
Rafayel feigned mock offense, bringing a hand to his chest as he shook his head. “And leave you all alone in this vast, wide, big and scary city? No way. How could you ever live without me?”
You actually could very well live without him. But he’s too cute to leave, unfortunately.
“I can handle myself just fine, Rafie… You can leave if you don’t want to be he-”
Rafayel cuts through your sentence swiftly. “No thanks.”
Before you could even open your mouth to raise more questions as to what he exactly means by that plain and final answer, your words are diluted by the sudden downpour of rain above.
You watch as most people around you run for shelter from the rain, some more prepared ones opening their umbrellas and calmly carrying on with their day. Being a part of the unlucky few that didn’t bring one, you drag Rafayel to a nearby bus stop.
“Weird… They said it’d be cloudy at most today.” You muttered under your breath, the top of your head already wet, water dripping off the strands of hair.
Rafayel chuckles at you drenched state. “When were weather forecasts ever 100%? This is why you have to think of every possibility.”
“Oh? Does this mean you brought an umbrella?” You raised a brow at him expectantly. If he was so confident, then surely…–
“Nope.”
You stared at him in sheer, unbridled disappointment and confusion. “What do you mean, ‘nope’?”
“I was going to bring an umbrella,” Rafayel paused for effect to tap on his chin to ponder for half a second. “but it looks like I forgot. I was so excited to see you again that it completely slipped out of my mind.”
“You…” You inhaled sharply and exhaled back out deeply to keep your blood pressure steady.
He flashes you a grin in an attempt to be a little apologetic, but it was obvious he wasn’t one bit.
“How am I supposed to go home with the weather this bad?” You looked up at the sky, the rain still unrelenting in its showers. You didn’t know how long it would last, and it was getting rather late into the day already.
Rafayel tilts his head at you and grabs a hold of your wrist, stepping forward from under the cover of the bus stop and into the drizzling skies. “We make a run for it, duh.”
He says it as if it’s such an obvious solution, one you should have thought of much sooner.
“We could get a cold, and I don’t look forward to walking past the front door soaked from head to toe!” You argue, disapproving of such a reckless idea. But then again, you’d be lying if his suggestion didn’t pique some sort of interest within you. “And it feels like a bunch of watery knives raining down from up above.”
“Don’t worry, if you flap your limbs, dance and doge around enough, and run as fast as you can, you’ll be able to deflect its attacks. And… A little rain never hurt anyone.”
Rafayel eagerly awaits your answer, but you both knew you didn’t have the heart to turn him down if he kept looking at you with those sparkling purple eyes, practically begging for you to accept and loose a little.
His hand slid down from your wrist to your hand, intertwining your fingers together lightly. You return his gesture with a smile.
“Okay, fine.”
The next morning, you receive a text message from Rafayel.
Rafayel poked you
Rafayel: [im dying]
You: [Told you you’d get sick.]
Rafayel: [dun u want me to get better? come here and nurse me back to health urself]

It wasn't okay.
Someone gave me the idea to write an analysis in the form of a fanfiction, so this is what I coughed up.
I haven't written a fanfiction in 10 years, so bear with me. There is also no smut here; sorry to disappoint. Maybe once I become more confident in my fanfic writing lmao
Ashley almost thought it'd be okay.
"Yeah, I'm dating Julia now."
Ashley thought she'd be able to handle it. But she knew better. She's always known better. And Andrew did, too. It's why he took so long to tell her. She's never been able to keep her fucking mouth shut, but why should she? He's the one who lets her down. He's the one who tries to distance himself from her! He tries and he tries and he tries but he fails, every time.
But now, she's not so sure.
"WE HAD AN AGREEMENT, ANDREW!"
Her words seem to fall on deaf ears, but his gaze never diverts from her eyes. She can see it plainly in his face- his anger, his exasperation, his frustration. She's always been so good at reading him, and now is no different.
"So why? Why do you keep doing this?! Why do you keep trying to distance yourself from me?! Am I not good enough?"
"Ashley…"
"I've always been the only one you can rely on, Andrew! The only one you can talk to! So why?! Why do you keep trying to find other people?! And why Julia, of all people?! Why her?!"
"Ashley."
"What is she giving you that I can't?! Why can't you just be happy with me?!"
"Ashley!"
"No, Andrew! Your excuses aren't good enough! Nothing I do is ever enough! You always want MORE!"
Ah, how close she was to being right, yet how distant she was from the reason.
He has to be dating her out of pity, right? Ever since __ died, Julia hasn't been able to keep that knife away from her arm. She wears arm-warmers now to hide them, but Ashley knows better. Everyone does. And maybe now, Andrew is trying to make it right.
"It's out of pity, isn't it? You feel guilty over what happened to that bitch, and-"
Andrew closes the gap between the two of them, his gaze growing significantly more dire. A lump appears in Ashley's throat. She doesn't know what it's from, and can't process just how much danger she's really in. She could read Andy just fine, but the Andrew that was starting to surface was a different story entirely. But Andrew stays his hand and walks away, never once breaking eye contact with her until he walks out of the door.
Ashley is left alone, confused and afraid. She thinks the fear is from the thought of Andrew leaving her for good, but it's not. All she knows is that she is afraid of getting hurt again, no matter what kind of hurt it is. It's all the same to her. But this fear doesn't get any better over time; it gets worse. As Andrew is out, the sinking feeling in Ashley's gut and the cold grasp she feels over her heart grows more and more profound. Her breathing grows labored. He's going to leave her for good, isn't he? No matter how much she breathes, she never feels satisfied. Every thought spurs her to gasp for more air:
Why is he doing this? Why is he dating her? Why can't she calm down? Why did he still seek comfort from Ashley in the dead of night this past week, despite having been dating Julia for that long? Why can't she calm down? Is there something Julia can do that Ashley can't? Why can't she calm down? Is it the fact that Julia can fuck him but Ashley can't? Why can't she calm down? Is it him trying to distance himself? Why can't she calm down? Is it him trying to be normal is it him trying to forget is it him trying to make up for Nina or is it him-
"WHY CAN'T I FUCKING BREATHE???"
The icy cold grip on her heart turns into a sharp pain in her chest, a stake being driven right through it. What little breath she had left was stolen from Ashley, her hands growing numb.
Her course of action becomes clear:
She has to break them apart. She HAS to.
Ashley runs towards the phone and goes to dial the number. If Julia knew the truth about Nina, if she knew what they did, there's no way she'd still like Andrew. There's no way they'd still be together. She'd have to break up with him, and then Andrew and Ashley would be stuck together forever. She goes to dial the number.
But she freezes.
She feels her throat close up, words unable to escape her mouth. She agreed to never speak of it to anyone else ever again, and that oath was being enforced. But by whom? Why did she feel like she was being watched? Her parents were gone, and so was Andrew. So who was watching her? Why were they watching her?
With every number she dialed, she feels weaker and weaker. She feels like she's going to pass out. And when she finally calls…
"J-Julia! I need to tell…-"
…luckily, they were still home. Every word Ashley spoke was punctuated by a desperate gasp of air. And at the last moment, rather than revealing the truth, she changes her mind. She needs her Andy back. But she needs to get him back without breaking her end of the agreement. After all, that's the least she could do, isn't it?
The least Ashley could do was stay committed. That's all she has going for her. Her love, her dedication, her commitment. If she couldn't at least offer that, does she even deserve Andrew, no matter how much she feels she needs him?
She wouldn't, because that's all she thought she could offer him: Herself. But now, she was starting to wonder whether even that was enough.
"Andy. I think-… I'm having…"
She forces out her last few words…
"…a heart attack."
Before collapsing on the ground, a loud THUMP echoing on the other side of the phone.
It doesn't take long for her beloved Andy to come home after that. He looks terrified, but Ashley smiles, and grabs the bump on her head.
"Took you long enough, asshole."
Andy was less than pleased, but at least she knows that he still cared for her. It calms her down so quickly and abruptly that it looks like she was faking it. She even thought she might've been. But as long as her Andy was back, everything was okay. As long as she knew she could do something for him, everything was fine.
Andrew still slept in Ashley's bed that night, despite what happened. He still sought her comfort, no matter what. Julia wasn't good enough for him. She'd never be good enough. And yet as long as she still existed, Ashley would forever feel herself growing distant from Andy. Andy was lying to himself. He had to have been. There's no way he could want to be away from Ashley while still seeking so much from her, right? Julia had to be dealt with, she had to be taken out of the picture. It didn't much matter how. And so, the next morning, when Andy is away, she picks up the phone, dials Julia's number, and-…
… …
It feels like it's been so long since then.
So distant from the way things are now, that you feel like an entirely different person; like you're watching a performance.
When the dream ends, you shoot up in panic. You look down to your side, and see Andrew, sleeping. You look upon his back, and see your scratch marks still there, and you can't help but smirk. Ah, you really got into it, didn't you? You never saw yourself as that kind of person, but it makes sense, now that you're so much less afraid of losing him.
You know you're awake now, and in a time and place where things are much better, and yet, some of your past still lingers. You can't help but still feel afraid that he'll leave, just like everyone else has. And worse, you fear it'll be your fault. But now everyone is finally honest with themselves and what they want. Now things can finally heal. Now things can finally get better.
Now you can finally dream. Now you can finally hate what you see.
Now you are finally the one who needs to be held at night.

“What’s wrong with you?” Loki asked as he stood at the foot of your bed.
You groaned and pulled the blanket up over your face. “Go away!” How did he even get inside? You were fairly certain you locked the door. You always locked your door. It was probably because of his damn magic.
“That’s not an answer to my question,” Loki continued stubbornly. “What’s wrong with you?”
“You’re harassing me. That’s what’s wrong.” You refused to emerge from under the blanket. Maybe if you stayed there, he would go away.
“Aren’t you the one who told me that friends look after friends?” His voice sounded vaguely disappointed. “Am I not your friend?”
You sighed. He had you there.
Normally, you went out of your way to show Loki that you trusted him. Most of the other Avengers still treated him with a healthy dose of caution. When you met Loki, you extended your hand and told him you hoped the two of you would become friends. He had snorted and informed you that he never really had a friend before. Despite the acerbic tone that accompanied them, the words broke your heart.
So you endeavored to be his first friend, and you refused to let anything ruin the progress you had made.
You pulled the blanket down over your face. “I’m sick.”
Loki grimaced, and you swore you saw him lean away just a little bit. “Nothing serious, I hope.”
You shook your head. “Just a stomach bug. It’s not a big deal.”
You expected that to be the end of the conversation. Loki would accept your explanation and then leave to find something else to occupy his attention until you made a full recovery. However, that was not the case.
Loki continued to stand at the foot of the bed, observing you. “Well then? What do you need to get better?”
You blinked once. “Nothing. I’ll be fine.”
“Nonsense.” Loki scoffed, coming around to sit on the edge of your bed. “Given how fragile you Midgardians are, I doubt that this will just go away on its own. I will look after you.” He said, his tone not leaving much room for argument.
But that didn’t stop you from trying.
“That’s completely unnecessary,” you insisted. “As long as I get some rest and drink plenty of fluids, I’ll be in fighting shape in a couple of days.”
Loki rolled his eyes. “Darling, not many people get to say they had a Prince of Asgard at their beck and call.” He leaned in slightly before dropping his voice to a whisper. “So you might as well take advantage of it while you can.”
You bit your lip as you mulled over his words. It did sound awfully tempting. After all, he was your friend, and after months of getting to know each other, you knew just how deeply he cared for the people closest to him.
 Much like a cat he would hiss and swipe at them when they tried to force their affection on him. Grand displays of affection and flowery words made him uncomfortable, but when left to his own devices he gravitated toward his chosen people. Whether it was retrieving something from a tall shelf without having to be asked or inspecting your gear before a mission to ensure your safety, Loki showed he cared in small ways.
“Okay,” you finally said before giving him a teasing smile. “I’ll let you play nursemaid.”
He did his best not to laugh, but even he could not hold back the fond smile on his face. “Now that’s settled, how do I go about looking after you exactly?”
~*~*~*~*~
“Loki,” you asked, inspecting the glass and its questionable contents. “What the hell is this?”
“You requested a ginger ale to calm your stomach,” he said with his hands on his hips.
“Uh-huh. I remember that.” You nodded. “This isn’t ginger ale.”
He gestured to the glass. “It’s ale with a ginger root in it. There is no way I got that wrong.”
You looked at the glass, then looked at him, then looked at the glass again. “I told you my stomach was upset, and you thought I wanted alcohol with a root in it?”
“I figured it was some Midgardian remedy.” He shrugged. “Who am I to question the medicines of your world?”
You pressed your lips together, doing your best to suppress a smile. He really was trying his best, and the last thing you wanted to do was to make him feel bad. “Ginger ale is a type of soda.”
His nose scrunched up. “How is a soda going to help your stomach? If anything the carbonation would make things worse.”
You shook your head. “It doesn’t actually help, but it will make me feel better.”
Loki nodded in a placating manner. “If it will help you to feel better.” He left to return to the kitchen and -hopefully- provide you with your requested beverage.
Luckily, he succeeded in his mission and returned just as an idea formed in your mind.
“You know what else would make me feel better?” you asked, your voice trailing off expectantly.
 “I am not turning into a cat so you cant pet me again” Loki shook his head, disgust painting his features. “Last time, you neglected to tell me about your allergy and you sneezed all over me.”
You giggled at the memory. You felt bad about it, but the look on his face was priceless. Loki’s usual flair for the dramatics combined with a feline’s trademark disdain had you laughing so hard, Thor had come running to see what had happened.
“Not that,” you promised. “I want to watch my favorite movie.” You picked up the remote and started searching for it.
Loki walked closer, taking a seat next to you on the bed. “Not the ten-hour one you told me about, right?”
You shook your head. “No, the other one.” You grinned proudly when you found it. “The Princess Bride.”
Loki raised a skeptical brow. “It sounds….what’s the phrase Midgardians use? Cheesy?”
“It’s not cheesy!” You smacked his arm gently, which Loki had told you felt similar to when a mosquito landed on him, but you tried to ignore that. “Okay, maybe it is, but the cheese is what makes it good! Daring heroes, cruel kings, and the greatest love story of all time? It can’t be beaten!”
You finished your pitch and looked to Loki. He considered your proposal with much more seriousness than you expected. Finally, he cracked a smile and inclined his head slightly.
“Fine,” he relented. “Show it to me.”
~*~*~*~*~
After what you would swear was just a quick blink, you felt a gentle prodding at your shoulder. You opened your eyes and noticed that Loki was still sitting next to you and credits were rolling on the TV screen.
“You slept through the rest of the movie,” Loki informed you, an amused smile on his lips. “You were right, it was very enjoyable.”
Your eyes widened in horror. “But, I love that movie. We have to rewind it.”
“We can try again tomorrow,” Loki slid from the bed. “For now, you should get some rest.”
“Alright,” you nodded in spite of yourself, the exhaustion already taking over. “Can you turn off the light on your way out?”
Loki paused by the door before giving you one last smile. “As you wish.”
The lights clicked off and you heard the door quietly click shut. You wrapped the blanket around yourself and closed your eyes. You took a deep breath in as you waited for sleep to overtake you and-
Your eyes flew open and you sat up in sudden shock.
What did he just say?

I wanted to do a cheating fanfic for Leon Kennedy (Help me, I'm going insane. His everywhere I look now.) because what's stopping me from doing so. Enjoy.
warnings ; Cheating.
・・・・☆・・・・
What happened to us? The smell of roses and expensive perfume clung to his skin and clothes to mock me. I feigned ignorance to his clear tricky, and sloppy cover-ups, hoping for an instance that this was all just a dream, that he didn't have another woman to lay in bed with, and instead, he had been preparing something for me as an apology for the times he had missed out on. How naive I was to be so trusting in a man with two lives. At work, he was Agent Leon Kennedy, a hero. While at home, he was simply Leon Kennedy. Or so I thought. Over these past few months, our once cozy home seemed to have been frozen over. Dinner was left cold and uneaten, date nights completely dropped, and his side of the bed, which used to be warm and welcoming to wake up to now, was icy cold and disappointing. He used to be so comforting. Sweet whispers of loyalty and love now were quick and barely present in conversations. His big comforting arms seemed to have found their place around a new woman because they seemed to have forgotten how to hold me lovingly. I spent nights sitting at the end of our bed, wondering if he was working overtime or if he was snuggled tightly around an old lover, a lover that plagued his mind, that little whisper in the back of his mind telling him to return.
I stared blankly at his empty side of the bed, tears collecting in my eyes. I've been crying for so long. I cried since I found the lipstick staining the collar of his shirt, I cried when he threw the dinner that I made for him into the refrigerator, telling me he wasn't hungry, and I cried when he walked out on me on the night saying: He needed fresh air, only to come home at 6 in the morning seemingly refreshed with the smell of roses and expensive perfume. I sat with my head in my hands, wondering how do I confront this situation. I loved him dearly, we’d been through so much, yet it seemed like it wasn't enough. I wipe off the tears from my eyes, grinding my teeth at the pain from my headache. My eyes felt sore from all the crying, and my throat felt dry. I looked around our shared bedroom, asking the same question; over and over. Why? Was I not enough? What happened to Us? The sound of keys jingling was accompanied by the loud thumping of combat boots entering the small shared apartment. I looked over at the clock that sat on our nightstand. It read 2 AM. I furrowed my brows, not only in confusion but anger. When did he start coming home so early? I chewed my bottom lip nervously as I heard the sound of boots being taken off. The sound of a jacket being thrown onto the floor. Then the sound of footsteps walking and pausing at the entrance of the bedroom door. As the door creek opened, I met Leon’s eyes. I met his confused eyes head-on with a look of burning hatred.
“What's wrong, my dear?” Leon questioned you with urgency.
You scoffed as if he honestly cared. Choosing to stay silent, you shook your head and got into your side of the bed, pulling the covers above your shoulders and covering your face with it. You heard Leon sigh. You could hear the annoyance in his voice, the tiredness.
“What could possibly have you acting so, bratty?” Leon sighed, walking to your side of the bed and kneeling to come face-to-face with you.
You narrowed your eyes at him before curtly saying, “It's none of your concern, just go out again or go somewhere else, Kennedy.”
Leon was slightly taken aback at your sudden irritability, “Um..uh….” He was speechless. How does he respond to something like that? He could feel the anxiety monster in his stomach begins to claw its way up his throat. “I’ll uh–” He stammered, “uh..be in the bathroom freshening up to join you in bed. If you need me, just call for me.” He nodded to you; before standing up to leave for the bathroom, leaving behind that lingering smell of roses.
That sweet putrid smell filled my nose to the point of it being nauseating. I stood up from the bed and walked over to the closet. I reached into the closet to pull out a suitcase and my old backpack. I started to pack my stuff. I had made up my mind. I couldn’t lie next to a man that could lie through his teeth. As I was packing, the loud sounds of me rummaging through my stuff must have alerted Leon because he rushed into the room, looking at me with wide eyes. His eyes glossed over with tears before he croaked out, “Where..where are you going?” He asked, sounding so broken. He sounded so hurt as If I was the one backstabbing him.
“I need some fresh air,” I mocked.
He furrowed his brow in utter confusion, staring at me for an answer.
“I know what you did, Leon.” I stopped to collect myself. “I know that you have more than just one bed you lay in each night,” my voice cracked as I finished. The tears were already falling like waterfalls.
“How..how long?” He asked, feeling the color drain from his face, and the feeling of anxiety in his throat made him want to throw up.
“Long enough to know that I should leave. Chase after her, Leon, chase after her like a dog.” I spat out at him. Venom laced every word I spoke. I glared at him, hatred boiling in my stomach. I watched as Leon flinched from my harsh voice. He looked at me, begging me with his eyes. His eyes spoke so many unspoken words, begging me to stay, to let him explain how he loved me. One look into his eyes, and I could already see what he was going to say.
“Dont. Please, don't make this harder for me than it already is.”
“I didn't mean to, honest. I just got..” He trailed off, an excuse dying on his tongue when he saw me cringe at his words.
I shook my head at Leon's poor excuses as I stepped out of the bedroom and made my way to the front door. As I walked by the front door, I snatched my keys from the keyholder near the door and left. However, not before telling Leon: I’ll be back for my stuff tomorrow. I hope what you did was worth it.

I would love to hear some personal favourites with merformers, whether it be ships or physical traits or culture ideas or yknow pure porn, totally not because I’m trying to write a merformers research facility fic, whaaaat noooo, why would you think thattttt
- Robooby
NICE, I can ramble about merformers. this will also be incoherent, but, here we go.
- i think mers are still fully metal. the tail folds cleverly, looking fluid and organic, but it's still 100% metal. what little "organic" or soft parts they have, i think that'd be their array, and various decorative fins. Defensive or attack fins are still metal.
- my favourite merformers culture thing still is the licking inside of someone’s mouth that i already talked about. I think they don’t have a concept of kissing as cybertronians know it, so this isn’t exactly a kiss, it’s much more intimate and significant, since it’s done to show submission to someone. It’s basically saying “i belong to you” in a romantic, platonic, or familial way. I also think mers have elaborate mating dances, embedded deep into their instincts, and will automatically initiate them before trying to have sex.
- I think mers are fully sentient, but they’re far too instinct-driven for researchers to really figure that out until a few years in (early facilities were not very… nice). Unlike cybertronians, they have to hunt for food and still worry about predators and can only reproduce between each other, so their instincts would have never evolved out of them. They are, however, intelligent. There are cities, or, their versions of cities in the depths of the ocean, they have culture and holidays and jewelry (oh lord, i love to put merformers in jewelry. Mers wearing shells and crystals as necklaces, or more morbidly so, teeth and fangs of things they’ve killed, membranes of dead predators as pretty translucent cloaks….)
- I still like the idea of the Lost Light being a ship that crashed into the ocean ages ago and now it’s used as a little hang-out spot for various mers (re: the lost light crew). Or, as a mating spot.
- As for ships, I am still very fond of the idea of Minimus being a hermit crab occupying the dead metal shell of a long-dead Ultra Magnus, and Megatron, who is of the same genotype (the same sub-species of fish) as Ultra Magnus was, becomes deeply enamoured with him after some time spent together, only to be met with a lot of disappointment when it turns out that he’s unable to mate Magnus (because he’s cumming into Magnus’s tank, and well, the dead shell of Ultra Magnus is in no state to be having pups). Minimus is unable to mate Megatron either because the reserves Ultra Magnus has are too old and sterile.
Of course, I am very into veterinarian/caretaker Ratchet and mer Drift. Or facility staff Drift and mer Ratchet. the interspecies thing really hits the spot with these two. But also, let's remember that fanfic i tried to write, where Ratchet has lived in capture for most of his life and Drift is a wild mer that was put into his tank and they struggle to socialize. I like that.
- I really like to think old and fertile is a very desirable trait for most mers. It’s something that the staff of many facilities don’t figure out for a while, but older mers who’ve kept their fertility are much better at having clutches than younger ones. This goes for Ratchet, for Megatron, for Optimus (though we’ve never had mer Optimus in here, which is a pity), for Rung. An old mer is usually harder to mate with but absolutely worth it.
- I think they speak their own language, but are capable of learning how to fluently communicate with cybertronians. "domesticated" mers (re: mers that have lived in a facility for most of their life and cannot survive in the wild anymore) would be indistinguishable from a regular cybertronian if it wasnt for the tail
