We should not “bash the neighbour” says Prakash Jha when talking about his upcoming thriller show Mukhbir
Prakash Raj is one of the most talented actors Bollywood have got. However, he is not only a gem of an actor but also a very outspoken person. When it comes to speaking his mind, the veteran actor does not mince his words. Recently the actor had an interview about his upcoming show where he talked his heart out. All set to appear on the small screen once again with Zee5’s spy thriller Mukhbir, as a savvy intelligence officer, Prakash shared his motivation to play the role. He said, “We are talking about an untold story from the 1960s when I wasn’t even born. Today, in 2022, if I am safe in this country, an unsung hero must have been somewhere responsible for it. Are we ever aware of it? There are so many things that run a nation. It is never one person, one ideology, one party, or one leader. Every person is a patriot and every person is relevant and their contributions are varied. That appealed to me.”
The show is being compared with Raazi ever since the trailer launched. The story is said to be based on real events and very much similar to Raazi. When asked if he is concerned about both stories being compared, he said, “I don’t think so. When it comes to Mukhbir, it is not talking about two countries. The backdrop, the structure, the skeleton is that but is when that man questions his existence and identity. I don’t think it’s similar. It’s a new way of looking at things, with a differently-sensitized script. I don’t think there will be parallels.”
He further explains that the story nowhere means any harm to the neighbouring country. He said it is important to pay respect to the other party as the majority of us do not have negative feelings towards them. “In the recent past also, we have been seeing many series or stories that are very slice of life. People are tired of the cacophony. And with the pandemic, people are connecting to more content. And when you see the fakeness is dying and the mafia is not able to convert, while there is a fair play for talent and content, it feels good. The content is becoming the king. To come out of this cacophony, this sort of effort matters.”

Pelayo, Ronie Jay S.
Choose line.
Nalaman kung habang lumalaki ka, Maraming beses kang madadapa, Bumangon ka man ulit o hindi magpapatuloy ang buhay, at mauubos ang oras.
Explanation.
I choose this sentence because some people getting tired to what they do everyday or what they have in thier everyday life so i think this line can give some motivation to keep going for their future and until they realize that this world has a lot of challenge and make them better even it takes a lot of time.
What i have learn?
This line was happen to me that's why i choose this. I wondered what happen to me this past 2 years ago i look down my self and even my family didn't know about that because I'm a kind of person that never told what is my problem so i spend all of my time by playing a games then until i met a strangers that turns into a friendship those strangers are older than me and they say i was too young to think about what happen to me they motivate me everyday, everytime we play that's why i change my mind instead thinking of negative result they cheer me up to continue that's the reason why i should keep going to get my future someday.
Aredidon, CherryAnne.
Choose line.
Nalaman kung ma swerte ako dahil pinag lalaro at pinag aral ako ng magulang ko nung bata pa'ko. Hindi pala lahat ng bata ay dumaraan sa kamusmusan.
Explanation.
so that's the line i took because i realized my luck or us because we go to school to study and play and enjoy what we did today because other children didn't go to school or play because they worked early they didn't get the most out of it their youth.
What i have learn.
What I learned from what I read is the fact that we are going through almost every situation right now. and I realized that not everything we want to achieve is something we can get easily, Even though we have different characteristics in life, but we are all the same in wanting to have EDUCATION the world goes round, so does what happens in human life, but based on the text I read, it is not based on high grades or any state of human life that will be the basis of how you face the fact that intelligence will not be the basis but of a good person with dreams and determination.
Catalan, Glorylyn.
Choose line.
Nalaman kong ang mundo ,sa totoong buhay ,ay hindi yung makulay na murals na nakikita sa mga preschool . Hindi ito laging may rainbow ,araw , ibon , puno , at mga bulaklak.
Explanation.
The quotes are meaningful but this is one of my favorite lines that caught my attention while reading the story titled ABNKKBSNPLako . This is a fact that resonates with me and us as a reader . As i grow up ,i discover things in life where sadness and problems are more prevalent than happiness and celebration . Maybe this is my favorite line because I can also connect my thoughts or event's in real life based on the message that it conveyed.
What i have learn.
What I learned from what I read is the fact that almost all the events we go through in real life. It made my mind aware that not everything we want to achieve can be obtained by just doing one thing. We have different abilities and dreams in life but we always focus on the same thing that is usually looked at by mostly, the EDUCATION. It is true that the world revolves, so do the events in human life, but based on the text I read, not by completing a whole year in school, high grades and honor will be the basis of how you will live in the future. It is your intelligent mind that reality will not be filled with only intelligence but with a good person with ability, love and determination.

Explanation.
for me I choose this because I already felt the same, when I was in elementary every time that raining I stop in a near sari sari store and ask If they can give me plastic so I can keep my notebooks and books dry so they won't damage by the rain.
What i have learn.
I just remember when I was so young when we can afford to ride tricycle cause me and my oldest sister don't have enough money because when don't really have our parents are always short of money. Some times while we're walking to go home in the middle of our way the rain is already falling and we don't have choice but to continue walking it's ok to get wet by the rain as long as we keep our notes dry and we run as fast as we could and I realized poverty can't stop me to achieve my goals and dream it's give me strength and hope to continue and never stop dreaming continue my studies even I'm not that good even tho people though I can't make it, it give me motivation if they think I can't make it then I prove to all of them that I can, I need ,I must continue never stop those experience in my childhood are my motivation my faith and my dream are not just for me but it's also for my parents for every sacrifice they made for me.
Mendeoro, gian
Choose line.
Natuto akong gumamit Ng dictionary, encyclopedia, almanac, protractor, compass, water color, microscope, calculator,at computer
Explanation.
During those times I learned to use a dictionary, encyclopedia, compass, water color and modern technologies that helped increase my grades in all aspects of the subject that my parents were happy about.
What i have learn.
I experienced this when I was in elementary school and high school when I went to the science lab to use the microscope that is used to see very small things and also use a dictionary so that we can use it for review in the upcoming exams, using protractor for mathematics that is also used to measure angles, water colors and computers for research, these are what our students use for school to get a big grade that our parents are also happy about, using a compass if where it shows in which direction we are going, using water color to color the person, thing or place we have drawn, also using the encyclopedia for information, that's what I learned when I was in elementary school and high school.
Tan, Micaella.
Choose line.
Nalaman kong ang mundo ay murals na makikita sa mga preschool, hindi ito laging may rainbow, araw, ibon, puno at mga bulaklak.
Explanation.
I choose this line because we all know how hard life is, we never thought life would turn out like a dark place for all of us. because when we are still a kid they showed us a lot of pretty things and we thought life would be as colorful like a rainbow.
What i have learn.
I realized that the world / life is not that easy as i grow up. when i was a kid i thought life was just all about fun things but i was wrong it turns out to be not. we spent all of our days working hard as much as possible just for us to have a better life in the future. we all struggled in our lives, but can't guarantee a great life. this phrase scared me a lot because even though we worked hard there are times that we can't be sure if we are really going to be the person we wanted to be in the future, that's why im always keeping in my mind that no matter what happen ill still do my best, even if it goes not as perfect as what i wanted it to be i will still keep going and look forward on the nice things. it's really hard to be a part of this such a beautiful world, sometimes i don't understand what's the point of life. dream big as much as you can, anything is possible if you just believe in your self and don't let anyone drag you, go for your dreams.

Favorite food: Khow Suey. Idk how to describe it in English but it’s like noodles that you mix with like thick yellow curry and chicken tarkari, and you can put fried onions on top and what I call samosa crumbs (basically the crunchy dough you use for samosas, it’s like the dough fried alone and you just crush it and put it on top), and I add a bit of ketchup too cause its noodles and it's so good
Favorite ice cream flavor: Cookies and cream, or just basic french vanilla
Favorite animal: I love most of them hahah but I will say elephants

Dream job (whether you have a job or not): Open my own cafe
If you could have one superpower, what would you choose?: Control time
If you could restart your life, knowing what you do now, would you?: No thank you I don't want to live through this again

If you were a trope in a teen high school movie, what would you have been?: The overachieving nerd/student council president. That’s literally what I was
Do you believe in aliens/supernatural creatures?: Yes. Aliens and ghosts and demons, they’re all real. Not fairies and vampires and werewolves tho.
Do you have a role model? If so, who?: There’s definitely people I look up to and try to learn from for various things, but I don’t think I have like one solid role model
Fun fact about yourself that not everyone would know?: I used to be a tomboy when I was a kid, and probably still am deep inside
When did you post your first piece?
January 2020
Why did you start writing on Tumblr?
I found it easier to gain feedback and find an audience of readers on Tumblr, plus the site was just easier for me to navigate compared to like Wattpad
Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why?
I write anything I feel like writing, and am open to trying new stuff. I just won’t write smut. I don’t feel comfortable writing or reading it
Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc?
I write x readers
Who is your favorite person to write about?
I don’t have a favourite person, mainly because I pick people based on who I think would fit a certain concept best. I guess my favourite would be y/n LOL because y/n is in every fic and I put myself into their character.
What inspires you to write?
I just like writing. I get a lot of ideas of stuff I want to write, and as a kid I wanted to be an author, but that obviously isn’t happening anytime soon so I just write fanfics. They’re easier to write because characters are already developed for you, and they don’t have a word limit to how long and short they need to be compared to actual OC fics
What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most?
Anything that relates to normal people, I enjoy writing. I like to insert my own experiences and thoughts in my stories so I write scenarios that I can imagine myself in or things I’ve experienced already, stuff like that
What do you hope your readers take away from your work?
I just want them to enjoy what I write. I’d like for my fics to be memorable, but idk if they are lol
What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively?
I just don’t write. It’s bad but I don’t want to write something that I don’t like so I don’t force myself to write when I don’t feel like it. If it takes me months to get out of that rough spot, then oh well. I don’t want to force myself to do anything that would make me hate writing, since it's one of the only few hobbies of mine.
What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful?
Most successful is murder replay. My favourite is an unreleased fic that I’m still working on. It’s pretty self-indulgent, and I talk about internal conflict with sexuality and not knowing what you really want, alongside being insecure and having mental illnesses. It’s angsty but it’s one of my favourites because of how much of myself I’ve poured into it
Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose?
It’s the same. Aside from the character being a real life person, fanfiction is the exact same as prose because it’s completely original ideas and thoughts, completely original sentences, and in general just the exact same as original prose. There’s like no difference.
What do you think makes a good story?
A writer who enjoys what they’re doing. It doesn’t matter your skill level or your language skills, or whatever. If you are passionate about what you write, then it will be evident in the story, and it will be a great story. There’s other things like the story idea and genre, but that’s all dependent on the reader. What I think makes a good story is different from what someone else thinks makes a good story. But in general, it’s the author that makes it good. You can tell if the writer really liked what they were doing, or if they were just writing for the sake of throwing words on a document and then calling it a day.
What is your writing process like?
Get an idea. Make a doc with that idea. Either immediately try and develop details, or leave the idea as is for months, maybe years. After developing the details, write the beginning of the fic, a few scenes I really liked, and then call it a day and never open the document for a few months again lol. Then I wait until I’m in the mood to write for that specific fic, and then I will write as much as I can. Finishing fics is a struggle, I’ve yet to finish my longer ones lol. I have a terrible writing process. The only way I really finish is if I already told my followers i will post it and theyre all waiting for it. Then I feel bad leaving people hanging and so it motivates me to finish. But yeah once I actually finish it, I throw it into grammarly and some other editors, fix stuff up, and publish.
Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story?
Doubt it. Once I’m done with a fic, I’m done. I don’t really want to go back and change anything. Even the longer fics that I love, I get sick of them and so I just dont want to touch them once they're done.
What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand?
I’m a huge sucker for childhood best friends to lovers lol. I have gushed about this on my blog a few times. Just the fact that you know someone for that long, and even been through arguments and times of not talking to each other, just to still come back to each other, thats real love even if its platonic. I’m just a sucker for that stuff. I also really enjoy anything that I, as a normal person, can relate to so high school AUs, college AUs, platonic AUs, anything real life based. There’s no tropes that I can’t stand, just tropes I don’t find interest in or don’t read much.
How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you?
Depends on how long i took to write the fic. If it’s a short piece ranging between a few hundred words to maybe a couple thousand words then I don’t really care much because chances are I didn’t take long to write it. My pieces that are longer than 5k, I care about because those are usually the ones more close to my heart, and the ones I spent way more time than necessary working on. Even just one reader telling me they enjoyed my story makes my day
What has been one of the biggest factors of your success (of any size)?
I know murder replay which is my current biggest story blew up, and I feel like part of it was because of the frequent updating I did. I kept a schedule and made sure to stick with it, even changing parts of the story to fit feedback from readers. Consistency was definitely key, and also engaging with readers. Replying to all their reblogs even if it was just tags they added, constantly expressing how grateful I am, stuff like that because it makes people feel that they’re validated as well. And I guess the general idea/trope of the fic was interesting to people too
Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged?
Yeah lol. It’s definitely something I hide from everyone I know in real life because I dont want to be looked down on.
Do you think art can be a medium for change?
Yes!! Art defies boundaries set by language, especially visual art. Stories are a good way to express things to people who don’t understand why something is the way it is, it’s literally what has been done by humans since the start of time. We pass down stories explaining things.
Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself?
Yeah, sometimes when I felt really burnt out, I felt I had to post an update or something just so that my followers got what they kinda signed up for when they followed me. It was partially just the pressure I put onto myself I guess because my followers are always supportive and understanding when I say I cant post an update. I’d also say in general there’s a part of me that wants to write for others too. I would be lying if I said I only write for myself because that’s not true. The whole reason I write and post is because I want some reader interaction and feedback, and if I truly did only write for myself I wouldn’t be posting.
Do you ever feel like people have misunderstood you or your writing at times?
Not yet! And I hope I don’t have to experience that lol
Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr?
Nope. No one does. It’s something I wanna keep to myself. Even some of my other internet friends don’t know.
What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers?
I purposely send a bunch of messages because I feel bad leaving people on read so I just keep sending hearts and stuff to express my love but also just so that you can end the convo when you feel like.
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there?
Go for it! It might be scary to get criticism, but I promise there are way more nice people on Tumblr than there are mean people. In fact I haven’t even interacted or met with a mean anon or person on here yet. Also the only way to really start is to go for it. I get anxious too every time I post something, even now, and honestly its just a feeling ya know. Its just chemicals in your body. So don’t stress, and if you always need someone to boost your ego and promote your work you have me!
Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr?
Nope
Do you have any mutuals who have been particularly formative/supportive in your Tumblr journey?
The memorable ones are Mimu, Nini, Gwen, Philo, and Krystal who were supportive of murder replay. Also sunflower anon and peace sign anon, and recently Jo has been really supportive.
Pick a quote to end your interview with
“...the universe is basically like a machine. I don’t know who made it, if it was the Fates, or the gods, or capital-G God, or whatever. But it chugs along the way it’s supposed to most of the time. Sure, little pieces break and stuff goes haywire once in a while, but mostly . . . things happen for a reason.” Leo Valdez in The House of Hades (so technically Riordan lol)
BONUS: K-POP CONFIDENTIAL

Welcome Readers. In this article, you are going to see the new up and coming web arrangement of ZEE5 named "Tiki-Taka" which is booked to deliver on eleventh September 2020. This will be fascinating to watch on the grounds that the trailer of this arrangement is looking astonishing and it accompanies an intriguing story and the bearing of this film is splendid. The areas and the sets in this arrangement look astounding.

Tiki-Taka is coordinated by Parambrata Chattopadhyay and composed by Shouvik Banerjee and Rohan Ghose under the dispersion of ZEE5 Original Film and the entire shooting was done in the Kolkata, which is in India. The skilled and flexible entertainers and entertainer are Saswata Chatterjee, which shows in a lead function of the arrangement, Parambrata Chattopadhyay.
Ritabhari Chakraborty, Emona Enabula, and Bruno Venchuro. The account of this spins around an African person who comes to India and the conditions and the scene gets changed and he is pursued by certain cops. To realize the entire story remember to watch this astounding arrangement on eleventh September at 12:00PM IST just on ZEE5 Original Film. CAST: Saswata Chatterjee. Parambrata Chattopadhyay. Ritabhari Chakraborty. Emona Enabula. Bruno Venchuro.
On third September 2020, the arrangement trailer was transferred on the ZEE5 official youtube channel and inside a couple of days, it crosses around 8 Lakh sees with 1,000 preferences. On sixth September 2020, Zee5premium official Instagram posted a banner of it and expressed that "Are Raju and Khelechi outsiders or just companions who haven't met at this point? #TikiTaka debuts on eleventh September #ZEE5Premium #GoalMaal". Discussing the storyline then Khelechi, who was an African man shows up in India with a football loaded down with drugs. At the air terminal, the medication ruler's men get an inappropriate man while Khelechi goes with an extortionist, and afterward the story makes a turn, and entire the circumstance gets changed.
Appreciate this parody of blunders on ZEE5. Debuts eleventh September 2020. Till then read our different articles and follow Dekhnews and stay tuned with us.
At whatever point we've met Ritabhari Chakraborty in the recent years, 'Khelechi Ajgubi' has surfaced in discussions, with the pretty and multitalented entertainer enthusiastically anticipating the Parambrata Chattopadhyay-coordinated film. Depending on a mixed up character, the film is currently set to debut on Zee5 as Tiki Taka on September 11. A talk with Ritabhari who had twofold the motivation to celebrate — the film's delivery and the way that she got to glitz up for this meeting.
The film was at first called Khelechi Ajgubi and is presently delivering as Tiki Taka… Now the film is delivering in both Hindi and Bangla and they needed to go with a title which fits in well with a bilingual film and something that football fans, skillet India, would have the option to identify with. We named it during the lockdown. The film should have a dramatic delivery and now as a result of the current circumstance, we have needed to go for a computerized discharge. In spite of the fact that there is somewhat of a failure since you are passing up a dramatic delivery, the great part is it will contact a greater crowd.
When did you shoot it? 2018. It is Param's executive endeavor and he got truly occupied. The film additionally has a great deal of embellishments and he puts stock in flawlessness. I was continually following up. At that point the pandemic hit us. Presently when I see the yield, I feel pleased that I am an aspect of this film. It's perfect by they way it looks. I am in any event not living in an air pocket and realize what's going on out there, devour a ton of public and worldwide substance and I am glad that the substance I am related with, it's very today and upmarket and pair with the contemporary work that is occurring.
Who is Bonny, your character in the film? She is a writer, very bhola and marginally moronic however with a brilliant heart. Mon ta puro clear and mathatao khanikta clear (snickers). That is what I look like at Bonny. No savvy individual would have purchased that thought in any case. The way Param's character (Raju, a cab driver) disclosed it to her (about Khelechi Ajgubi, an African public, being a footballer) and she gets it, even while shooting it, I felt OMG! (Giggles) Param continued saying she isn't imbecilic, only a little bhola bhala.
She is from the mofussil and on the off chance that she can't break a major news and get a strong balance in the city, she'll be offered. In this way, she has a ton in question. Bonny isn't me, yet I adored playing her. I am a major aficionado of Joey from F.R.I.E.N.D.S and I have for the longest time been itching to play a stupid character. Despite the fact that Bonny isn't Joey imbecilic. Raju and Bonny kind of meet incidentally. He takes a gander at me and thinks of this arrangement. He comes selling me a phony story and I get it and what follows is the film. The entire kind of the film is interesting. A ton of entertainers feel that parody is the most troublesome kind.
What do you feel? It is troublesome in light of the fact that your planning must be correct. You need to include your own flavors which, we continued doing while at the same time shooting Ogo Bodhu Sundori (the mainstream uber sequential which saw Ritabhari become an easily recognized name). Lolita never attempted to be amusing. Same for Bonny and Raju and Khelechi. The outfit cast includes interesting amusing characters… be it Paranda (Paran Bandopadhyay), Kharajda (Kharaj Mukherjee), Kanchanda (Kanchan Mullick), or Saswatada (Chatterjee). I don't actually think satire is the hardest.
Being a persuading reprobate or vamp is the hardest without trying too hard. Unthinkable in Andhadhun isn't exaggerating anything or Priyanka Chopra in Aitraaz or state Bob Biswas in Kahaani. I figure I would need to work the hardest for that sort of a job since I am totally a white individual. Was it scaring to be encircled by entertainers who are known for their comic planning? Truly, I never feel threatened by anybody I work with on the grounds that at whatever point I step on the shooting floor, I sense that I am going to class and there are bunches of educators and there is the head instructor who will manage me. I get truly jumbled if the chief isn't arranged... I realize that the chief must be arranged with his vision. They are so easily acceptable… stunning. Furthermore, the vitality was so high on the sets. One thing I have truly detracted from the experience is to be unconstrained.
Do you follow football? No! Sports isn't my thing. In the event that I was playing, I would appreciate. Thus, I loath watching a shoot. In the event that I am shooting, I will appreciate. I went for the Mukkabaaz shoot since I respect Anurag (Kashyap) to such an extent as a chief. I was there for the peak go for two hours and afterward was chilling with my closest companion since I got so exhausted following two hours. AK is so chill and arranged with his vision. That is everything I could accumulate. Individuals figure you can truly get a great deal.
You really can't on the grounds that film-production is an entire cycle. Things being what they are, you've never really liked an athlete? Not on the grounds that how great a player he is, yet, state… (David) Beckham. I have my reasons. Take a gander at him and you will likewise have your own reasons. Anyway, did you gaze upward 'tiki taka'? I asked Maddy (Madhuja B

LIFE LESSONS I LEARNED IN MY 20'S:
BE HUMBLE : Nothing in life is permanent. Kaya dapat maging mapagkumbaba tayo, minsan meron, minsan wala. As an OFW for more than 5 year, I've been through a lot, and yung mga pinagdaanan ko from year 1 upto now ay talagang hindi biro. I've learned to be humble enough, because at some situation I have nothing but myself. Maging Mapagkumbaba at all times.
LOWER YOUR PRIDE : Wag mapagmalaki lalo kung alam mo sa sarili na wala talaga, at wala kang maipagmamalaki, pero kung pinagpapaguran mo at pinagsisikapan mo ang lahat, why not? diba. I was in a very very odd situation, and the story goes like this.. I was in a relationship for about 3 years and 8 months with this guy (other nationality), My family don't like him kase nga iba, at di yung klase ng nagseseryoso. But instead of listening to them, I did what I did, inilaban ko talaga not knowing na third party pala ako, ginawa akong side chick in that 3 years. Say Sorry when you're wrong.
YOU ONLY HAVE YOURSELF: I started working when I was 19, and by that time, I started living alone for 3 months by myself along Commonwealth. And upto now, narealize ko na pag nasa reality ka na, ang dami daming tao nagsasabi sayo na pag kailangan mo ng tulong, nandyan lang sila, pero hindi pala totoo yon. At the end of the day, Ikaw lang, wala kang kaibigan na maaasahan, matatakbuhan kapag gipit ka na. For sure I know, galing ako diyan, noong nawalan ako ng work, ayaw ako patuluyin ng isa kong kapatid sa kanila, wala akong mauuwian, wala akong pera, wala akong pagkain, wala akong matutulugan, nagpunta ako sa supermarket at umupo sa isang tabi habang dala ang mga gamit ko, nagiisip umiiyak, dahil sadyang mabuti si Lord, may mga taong tumulong sakin para makabangon ulit.
BE STRONG : DAHIL SA MUNDONG ITO, MARAMING TAO ANG MAPAGSAMANTALA, Sasamantalahin ang kahinaan mo, ang pagkatao mo. Strong enough na malabanan mo ang stress, depression, and unwanted mixed feelings. I wanted to tell some story but I'd rather to keep it to myself. Kase kahit ipaliwanag ko wala naman makakaintindi ng ganong feeling.
CHOOSE YOUR COMPANY WISELY : Surround yourself with people who share your values and continually challenge you to be a better version of yourself. It is easy to fall into a fun but incredibly wrong crowd (or relationship) ----- I KNOW BETTER, I WAS IN THEERE TOO! BELIEVE ME. and ang masasabi ko lang 9MAS OK MAG-ISA KESA KASAMA NG MGA MALING TAO) BE aware from toxic and negative people.
MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS : Do your things, make your own money, at wag nang makisali, makisawsaw sa mga chismis sa paligid.
BE BOLD, HAVE YOUR FREEDOM: But with the Limits! I used to go places, foodparks and all from time to time alone. I usedmeet people and go on a dates, like movie and coffee time. I have been Invited by a friend of mine to go for clubbing, because I'm a GO-GO person and enjoy Life I'd thought it would be fun! But I wasn't a FAN of the CROWD and noise, I Got wine drunk which means I cannot walk straight! :) Good thing the friend who invited me splashes some lemon on my face, and gave me some coffee to wake my drunk soul.
NEVER STOP : Don't stop learning, growing and so on. Learning things from time to time from work, people and environment will help you a lot through life. If you want to do something, dont get stuck in one place, situation. Get out of the BOX! Incredible things will happen.
EMBRACE CHANGE: Kahit naman saan may pagbabago, be like a chameleon nakikisabay. I mean, pwede mo i adopt ung mga bagay na di ka sanay, like food, kung di ka kumakain ng ganito ganyan, baka dapat simulan mo na, kung di mo kaya yung ganito, ganyan, di mo pa na try ito, iyon, baka dapat subukan mo. DIba?
LOVE YOUR TIME BEING SINGLE : Huwag magmadali, i enjoy lang yung time mag isa, ako kase lagi ako nagmamadali kaya madalas ako magkamali. Lesson learned! .
KNow your Value : PINAGMUKHA KA NG TANGA, HAHABULIN MO PA? Never chase anyone, and remember that healthy relationships come both rarely and easily. If the person you choose to chase even gives into you for the time being, your heart will eventually be broken when they find what (or who) they have been looking for. Just skip all of that and move on while it only hurts a little to let them go.
VALUE EVERYTHING, BE GRATEFUL: SMALL THINGS, BIG THINGS MAGING GRATEFUL KA!!!!
ASK FOR ADVICE: Pero kung di mo susundin, wag ka ng humingi hingi ng advice, sayang lang laway ng kausap mo.
PRAY. PRAY. PRAY. IT WORKS.
STAY IN THE PRESENT: yung nakalipas di mo na maibabalik, wag mo ng balikan ung mga sitwasyon na alam mong hindi na talaga pwede, Wag magsisi, alam mo kung nasan ka ngayon, DIyan ka talaga nilagayn ni LORD, sabi nga nila it's either Blessing or a Lesson. Wag mag sisi, charge to experience yan!
Do not dwell in the past and do not worry about the future. Work toward attainable goals and do not hold expectations for situations beyond your control.
DO NOT TRUST EASILY: Specially nowadays! One of my mentor from lebanon told me, to not trust, never, Do not trust anybody, any friend, even your sister, brother, you only have yourself to trust! Thank you Mr. Chadi for that advice. It really helps me a lot. People can be really deceptive.
DONT BE SELFISH. IT WONT GET YOU ANYWHERE. BE A GIVER ISNTEAD.
FORGIVE YOURSELF: Hindi dapat sinasaktan ang sarili, wag mo isipin na lahat ng nangyayaring hindi maganda ay kasalanan mo.
BE APPRECIATIVE. THANKFUL. GRATEFUL. AS I SAID BEFORE.
LEARN SOMETHING FROM EVERYONE : LIKE PAG PINAGSABIHAN KA, TAKE IT, TANGGAPIN MO, WAG MO MASAMAIN YUNG SINASABI NG IBA, DAHIL KUNG MAY NAPUPUNA SILA, BAKA NGA MERONG KAPUNA-PUNA.
All experiences, good and bad, have something to teach us. Be thankful for the good and learn from the bad. Use them as motivation and stepping stones to move onward and upward.
You will make mistakes. You’re human. They happen.

The Usual Suspects (1995) Final Project
COM 323: Films of the 1990s
Introductory Video
The Usual Suspects (1995) Trailer
youtube
Production
The first inkling of The Usual Suspects film came to director Bryan Singer as he read an article in the magazine known simply as Spy. It was a passage regarding the famous 1942 film Casablanca in which the character of Louis Renault says that they need to, “round up the usual suspects.”
Tumblr media
With a title now in mind, Singer and his screenplay writer Christopher McQuarrie could get to work. The screenplay for The Usual Suspects took McQuarrie around five months to create. He had used elements of one of his previous, not published works to forge the story. McQuarrie combined several real-world elements into the film’s screenplay including the true crime story of John List who killed his entire family then took on a new identity for some 20 years until he was caught. According to an article from The Guardian, “A lot of the inspiration for Keyser Söze, the villain, came from the character of Yuri in the 1980s thriller No Way Out – a spy within the Pentagon who may or may not exist.” The name “Keyser Söze” is based on one of McQuarrie’s previous coworker’s name, Kayser Sume. When trying to adjust Sume’s surname, McQuarrie used a friend’s Turkish dictionary to discover the word “söze,” which means “talks too much,” which, in hindsight, is hinted at through Roger Kint’s nickname “Verbal” and his self-admission of being talkative. The name origin also potentially explains why Söze is described as "supposedly” Turkish. Similarly, characters mention that Keyser Söze‘s father might be German. His first name Keyser seems to be a reference to the German word “Kaiser” which means “Emperor.”
Once the screenplay had been completed to Singer and McQuarrie’s liking, they began to show it to studios, hoping to find an interested party. However, that turned out to be much harder than anticipated. Despite the excellent writing by McQuarrie, the vacancy of the cast and non-linear storytelling elements scared off most studios. The film’s rough start is described in “Usual Suspects, Unusual Devices,” by Martin Barker and Thomas Austin. The journal article reads, “It almost didn’t get made. Its director Bryan Singer and writer McQuarrie tried 130 film financiers before finally cutting a deal with two European sources. Even then, the deal almost fell apart just days before filming was due to start, when one backer withdrew. Finally, a recut of the distribution and video rights brought in combined finance from Polygram and Spelling International.” So, they finally found some hope in Europe with the PolyGram film company, though the actors were going to have to be paid significantly less than their usual fees. The actors which they cast were okay with the lower pay, however, as they wanted the opportunity to not only work with Singer’s direction and McQuarrie’s script but also the other actors involved. In fact, in 1993, Kevin Spacey had met Bryan Singer and told him that he wanted to act in Singer’s next production.
The Main Cast - “The Lineup”
Tumblr media
When the film began production, the budget was set at five and a half million dollars. Perhaps due to funding or other factors, there were only three shooting locations for the entire film. These were the cities of Los Angeles, New York City and San Pedro, CA. The film was shot in only 35 days, which is quite short compared to other films. Although it would seem the most prominent issue for the film would be the lack of financial backing, it turned out to be the actors themselves. Director Bryan Singer could not keep his main five actors in character, especially when they were all together like the famous “lineup” scene. Several scenes would take much longer than expected to film due to the actors being unable to stay in character because they would laugh with one another. In the final take of this scene, the characters are seen giggling, this is partially purposeful to show their camaraderie but much of it was the actor’s genuine laughter, particularly during Fenster’s delivery of the line.

Another less humorous issue that plagued the shoots was the size of filming locations. They had to film in many confined areas which made the job of cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel all the more interesting. In order to combat this issue of space, he used creative zoom tactics and dolly movements to simulate motion which made the space feel larger. The film wrapped shooting two weeks prior to its estimated date. However, one day Singer had a feeling that the mystery of Keyser Söze was unfinished. He felt that the film needed to convince the audience that Dean Keaton was Söze to up the ante of the twist ending. From this revelation came one of the film’s most crucial and shocking scenes. The sequence is the one at the very end, where Kujan stares at the board whilst past dialogue looms in the background as he pieces together the mystery. I have attached the video clip below:

Marketing
The advertising campaign for The Usual Suspects started off with an unusual issue. The studio executives were worried that audiences would not know how to pronounce “Keyser Söze.” So, they thought a good way to combat this was to create posters and television advertisements which read, “Who is Keyser Söze?”
Tumblr media
Though, many people still mispronounced it despite their efforts. The film itself initially aired at the now famous Cannes Film Festival in 1995. Here, it was met with a good reception from both critics and fans. Before it could get its full theatrical debut, it was shown in select screenings in Los Angeles and New York City, two of its filming locations and general movie hotspots. After these showings, it was aired in many theaters around the country and grossed around $23 million, which shattered its small budget numbers.
Reception
Despite successful monetary gains from the film, the critical reception after its full release was less than ideal. Overall, most critics felt the film was either predictable, confusing or only created to give its cast Oscar nominations. Famous film critic for the Chicago-Sun Times, Roger Ebert, gave the film a terrible one and a half stars, writing, “The story builds up to a blinding revelation, which shifts the nature of all that has gone before, and the surprise filled me not with delight but with the feeling that the writer, Christopher McQuarrie, and the director, Bryan Singer, would have been better off unraveling their carefully knit sleeve of fiction and just telling us a story about their characters – those that are real, in any event. I prefer to be amazed by motivation, not manipulation.” Other critics gave it similar ratings like USA Today’s two and a half stars. Though there were some outliers at the time, like reviewers for The Independent and The New York Times who gave it positive reviews. One of these reviews was from Lisa Schwarzbaum of Entertainment Weekly, who wrote, “Dense with plot intricacies, thick with atmosphere, and packed with showy roles for a hip ensemble, The Usual Suspects is fun to watch — a celebration of cool actors having a good time playing sweaty and devious lowlifes.” However, her opinion seemed to be in the minority.
Fast forwarding to today’s view, the film seems to have had a shift in opinion. The three most popular film reviewing sites, IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic gave it an 8.5, 89% and a 77, respectively. Notably, the audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is a whopping 96%. Clearly, there has been a change of thought towards the 1995 film over the years. Today, the film is included on many lists of “top” films. Some of these lists include top movies of the 1990s, top crime dramas and even best films of all time. Many even cite this film as a “classic” or a “must watch” which is a sign of remarkably high praise. Some of the more well-known lists it has made were curated by the American Film Institute and the Writers Guild of America. Not to mention, the film has won numerous awards, even back in the 1990s. Some of the most notable awards being McQuarrie’s wins for Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards, the BAFTAs and the Independent Spirit Awards. Along with Kevin Spacey’s win for Best Supporting Actor also at the Academy Awards among many others for the cast and crew alike. So, even if the critics did not seem too keen on the film back in ’95, there still were many who supported it enough for them to score such high accolades.
Tumblr media
Since the film’s release in 1995, it has found its way into different areas of popular culture through references, homages and other nods to the film. In fact, there was even an official remake in Hindi called Chocolate in 2005. But looking beyond this remake, acknowledgements to the film can be seen all over from a monologue by Stephen Colbert to Family Guy cutaways to Key & Peele skits and perhaps most famously in Scary Movie (2000).
youtube
Many of these come in the form of citing famous lines from the film or re-hashing crucial scenes such as Kujan’s piecing together Verbal’s fabrications or Verbal’s shift from limping to walking normally. Along with loving references to the film, there has been a bit of controversy as well. Actor Gabriel Byrne, who played Dean Keaton, claimed that the film’s production was temporarily halted due to Kevin Spacey’s inappropriate behavior on set. Byrne stated for The Sunday Times, “I mean, he was kind of a joke in that people would say, ‘That’s Kevin,’ but nobody really understood the depth of his predations. It was only years later that we began to understand that [filming] was closed down for a particular reason and that was because of inappropriate sexual behavior by Spacey.” Director Bryan Singer has since spoken out about Byrne’s claims. He denied the allegations against Spacey.
The Neo-Noir Genre
The neo-noir genre is defined by Mark Conrad in his work The Philosophy of Neo-noir as, “...any film coming after the classic noir period that contains the noir themes and sensibility.” The genre is a revitalization of the classic film noir, hence the prefix “neo” which means “new.” These films aim to capture a similar essence to the past noir crime films. They maintain similar characteristics in their writing style, cinematographic choices and essential themes. Some of these themes include crime, mystery, twists, paranoia, vengeance and deception. The way in which neo-noir differs from classic noir is seen through its use of updated technology and tackling of more modern societal problems. These films are also defined by the way in which they approach character. In classic noir, the motivations of the criminal or the detective were typically clear. But in neo-noir there is often a blurred sense of the world, where the character’s motivations are unknown or misunderstood and there is no clear division of good and evil as well as reality and fiction.
Tumblr media
The way in which The Usual Suspect’s plot unfolds and its conflicts are battled perfectly fits the neo-noir outline. Writer J.P Devine describes the film in an article for Central Maine’s website as, “...a game of chess, a masterpiece full of fake clues, twists and turns that flows from light to shadow and back again. ‘The Usual Suspects,’ as most filmmakers know, rests somewhere near the top of the list of the greatest film noir thriller-capers of all time.” First and most obviously, the baseline of the entire film: crime, criminals and police. These three elements defined the classic noir genre at its core and have continued to define the neo-noir predecessor. Next, the film is based around one central mystery who is “Keyser Söze?” Neo-noir cinema most commonly revolves around questions or figures like these who the viewer and the characters will spend most of the film trying to pinpoint their identity. As the viewer watches Kujan stare at the board after Verbal has left the interrogation, both the character and the audience begin to piece together the fabrication of Verbal. As Verbal is seen shifting from limp to upright walk it all falls into place as the real Söze drives off uninhibited. This moment is exemplifying two examples of neo-noir cinematic patterns, the twist and deception. Verbal has fooled everybody, the viewer included. He has fabricated the perfect story to lead everyone off his trail and onto Keaton’s, who is confirmed dead, which means Söze would be too. As Stanley Orr explains in his, “Postmodernism, ‘Noir’, and ‘The Usual Suspects,” “Throughout the course of the film, Verbal installs himself on the periphery as mere documenter, ‘alone returned to tell the tale.’ Seemingly innocuous, Verbal diverts suspicion by focalizing upon Keyser Soze and Dean Keaton. In the last moments of the film, Verbal leaves Rabin's office under a new aspect: his ‘hand flexes with all the grace and coordination of a sculptor's’ (McQuarrie 120).” He has convinced everybody that he – the talkative, limp-footed “Verbal,” does exist while simultaneously convincing that the mysterious, all-seeing crime boss, Keyser Söze, does not, just like the devil.
Tumblr media
Along with the plot and structure of the film fitting the neo-noir genre, so do the characters themselves. In the journal article, “Rounding up ‘The Usual Suspects’: The Comforts of Character and Neo-Noir” by  J.P. Telotte, the author notes, “The Usual Suspects offers an especially telling illustration in this regard, particularly of the impact of character in the neo-noir. It is a film that begins with a mystery and almost literally invites its viewers to play at guessing that mystery, at ferreting out the clues to its narrative and anticipating its twist ending. Moreover, that mystery depends totally on the film's conception and our own orchestrated and convention-driven misconception-of character, a set of reactions that pointedly flies in the face of our anticipation of narrative conservatism and undercuts one sort of pleasure or comfort we have come to expect from our films.” As explained previously, Keyser Söze is a brilliantly written character along with his Jekyll and Hyde-esque counter-part Roger “Verbal” Kint. Both of their motivations seem unclear for most of the film until the twist is revealed. Once they are established as the same character, many of the the motivations for Söze fall into place such as his paranoia that the man on the boat was going to expose him. Hence why he sent the criminals on a wild chase for some non-existent drugs on the ship. He wanted that man to be dealt with without the “lineup” knowing exactly why.
Also, the conflict between good and evil can be seen through both Söze and Keaton. Keaton’s struggle is more obvious and active throughout the film. He wants to escape the life of crime and live a morally and legally “good” life with his girlfriend, however, he finds it difficult to fully separate. Over and over he tries but he keeps being pulled right back. He cannot create true division between the good and the evil within himself. Similarly, after Verbal is revealed as Keyser Söze, this conflict comes over the audience. Initially, one feels themselves almost inclined to tip their cap to Verbal for his performance. Despite knowing the crimes he has committed, the viewer cannot fully write off Söze, he tows the line between likeable and truly evil in the minds of the viewer. The way in which the audience finds turmoil in supporting or disdaining his character is comparable to how readers feel about Satan in John Milton’s epic Paradise Lost. Something draws the audience into these characters despite or perhaps because of their wicked ways. In “Usual Suspects, Unusual Devices,” Martin Barker and Thomas Austin explain that, “The Usual Suspects rewards its viewers with the pleasures of unpacking its cleverness, and at the same time it rewards us by enabling us to demonstrate (to ourselves, to film-going friends) our cleverness in deciphering its deceits. It rewards with frissons of delighted shock the terror of a conspiratorial view of the Underworld: an attractive/dangerous stock of appalling characters. It rewards us if we are willing to play with the notion that authority is a mixture of inept and corrupt – but that corruption may be as nothing in the face of an awesome corruption so demonic that the petty authorities who think they run things are just self-deceivers.” His character is the encapsulation of the neo-noir genre’s blurring and bending of right and wrong, of good and evil, of reality and fiction. He lives his life miles ahead of those who wish to unravel his mystery. By the time anyone can wrap their head around his deceit, it is too late because, in devilish fashion, like that... he’s gone.

The figure of Othello from the tragic play by William Shakespeare has appeared in many examples of popular culture since being authored by Shakespeare in the early 16th century.
In painting
The literary character of Othello and the plot of the play by Shakespeare has been a recurrent theme in painting for several centuries. Selected examples include 'The Plot' depicting Othello & Iago which was painted in Oil by Solomon Alexander Hart in 1855. He also painted a water colour version held at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Othello was a series of 60 paintings executed in 1985 by Nabil Kanso. It was published in 1996 by NEV Editions.First Folio (1623) title page facsimile
Othello with Desdemona in bed asleep by Christian Köhler (1859)
Othello and Desdemona in Venice by Théodore Chassériau (1819–1856)
Othello and Desdemonaby Alexandre-Marie Colin, 1829
The Death of Desdemona by Eugène Delacroix
Edwin Booth as Iago, ca. 1870
Italian actor Tommaso Salvini as Othello, 1875
American actor John McCullough as Othello, 1878
Othello relating his adventures to Desdemona and Brabantio from a steel engraving of a painting by Charles West Cope, 1873

Desdemona by Frederic Leighton, ca. 1888
Petre Otskheli design for Othello, staged by Kote Marjanishvili, 1933
In film
Between 1948 and 1952, Orson Welles directed The Tragedy of Othello: The Moor of Venice (1952), produced as a black-and-white film noir. The film stars Welles as Othello and Suzanne Cloutier as Desdemona. The troubled production was filmed over the course of three years as Welles' time and money permitted, in Mogador, Morocco and Venice. Lack of funds (and costumes) forced Roderigo's death scene to be shot in a Turkish bath with performers wearing only large, ragged towels. The film won the Palme d'Or at the 1952 Cannes Film Festival.[4] Rather than focusing on racial disparity, the film plays on a difference between Desdemona and Othello in age, size and personal attractiveness. The film noir colouring of the picture minimised any commentary on Othello's blackness, to the point that the critic F. R. Leavis wrote that the film made no reference to Othello's colour.[4]
Unlike Welles's film, Stuart Burge's Othello (1965), based on John Dexter's National Theatre Company's production, starring Laurence Olivier, brings issues of race to the fore, with Olivier putting on an 'African accent' and entering in a large 'ethnic' necklace and a dressing gown. He commented, however, that he did "not dare to play the Moor as a full-blooded negro". One contemporary critic found the coloration too much, commenting that Olivier was "blacker than black, almost blue" .
Trevor Nunn's 1989 version filmed at Stratford, cast black opera singer Willard White in the leading role, opposite Ian McKellen's Iago.[4]
The first major screen production casting a black actor as Othello would not come until 1995 with Laurence Fishburne opposite Kenneth Branagh's Iago – not that there have been many major screen productions of Othello: most film versions to date have been filmed stage productions. It was made during the O. J. Simpson trial and commentators such as Cartmell draw parallels between the two whodunit murder stories, and wondered if the film's release was not a little to do with the publicity surrounding Simpson's drama.[4] A modernised, loose retelling, O, completed in 1999 and released in 2001, featured African-American actor Mekhi Phifer in the lead role, which was renamed from "Othello" to "Odin James" or "O. J.", with the story set in an American high school and revolving around sports rather than warfare.
Malayalam film Kaliyattam is an adapted version of Othello against the backdrop of the Hindu Theyyam performance. In 1998, Suresh Gopi received the National Film Award for Best Actor, and Jayaraj the award for Best Director for their work on the film.
Omkara is a version in Hindi set in Uttar Pradesh, starring Ajay Devgan as Omkara (Othello), Saif Ali Khan as Langda Tyagi (Iago), Kareena Kapoor as Dolly (Desdemona), Vivek Oberoi as Kesu (Cassio), Bipasha Basu as Billo (Bianca) and Konkona Sen Sharma as Indu (Emilia). The film was directed by Vishal Bhardwajwho earlier adapted Shakespeare's Macbeth as Maqbool. All characters in the film share the same letter or sound in their first name as in the original Shakespeare classic. It is one of the few mainstream Indian movies to contain uncensored profanity.

Also starring Matthew Deslippe as Iago, Christine Horne as Desdemona, Graham Abbey as Cassio. The adaptation was co-written by Zaib Shaikh and Matthew Edison.[23]
2011– An Indian daily soap named "Gunahon ka Devta" aired on Imagine TV was loosely based on Shakespeare's famed Othello

In 2016 R&B artist Frank Ocean referenced Othello in his song Nikes "Must be on that white like Othello".[24]
"Send Them Off!", song by British band Bastille is inspired by both Othello and the classic horror film The Exorcist.[25]
In 2017 singer-songwriter Harry Styles referenced Act III Scene III in his song "Sweet Creature."[26]
Graphic novels

In January 2009, a manga adaptation was published in the United Kingdom, with art by Ryuta Osada. It is part of the Manga Shakespeare series by Richard Appignanesi, and is set in Venice in carnival season.[27]
Fiction
Christopher Moore combines Othello and The Merchant of Venice in his 2014 comic novel The Serpent of Venice, in which he makes Portia (from The Merchant of Venice) and Desdemona (from Othello) sisters. All of the characters come from those two plays with the exception of Pocket, the Fool, who comes from Moore's earlier novel based on King Lear.
I, Iago by Nicole Galland depicts the antagonist of the play, Iago, as the protagonist and explores his potential motivations and history.
The plot of the Portuguese language novel Dom Casmurro by the Brazilian author Machado de Assis, a translator of Othello into Portuguese, is based upon the play. It is generally considered one of the great novels of Brazilian literature.
In 2017, Hogarth (a division of Penguin Random House company) published, as part of the Shakespeare Project, a novel by Tracy Chevalier, New Boy. The characters from Othello are transposed in a Washington D.C. school where eleven-year-old boys and girls re-enact the shakespearian tragedy but in the 1970s.
Other

Chala Vahi Des (Preface from 2017 for a book I've barely started)
I wrote the following piece a year ago with a plan for a photobook with various poems and short stories to accompany the photos. Many things have changed since then, like my mind about whether this should still be a photobook or should instead just be a novel or memoir, and, despite the title of my blog, I have yet to make that much progress on it. I figured that if I make some of the completed portions public to allow free-flowing criticism or comments, then maybe I'd be more motivated and directed towards creating something that makes remote sense. So the excerpt contained within this post starts from the beginning with a preface of the book. Some initial parts of this preface may be provocative, and if you happen to be outraged by my first two paragraphs, I implore you to just continue and finish it, because it's likely you won't by the end of it. Enjoy the reading!
2017 has been a year of mishaps. And despite the Trump-era chaos that embodies 2017, it’s not the reason for my dissatisfaction with the year, it’s just a supplement. More than anything, 2017 has been a year of losing some friends and even more battles. A year of bad days and even worse grades. A year of people whom I thought might not ever leave, leaving. A year of sitting and watching as one lived their dreams out in Madrid, another preparing to spend the summer in London, another in India, and DC, and lots and lots in California, and so on. And after watching all this, I'm still in Texas. Texas has been a trap. I've felt stuck, enclosed, like I should be somewhere other than this state. It's like a star dies every time you try to positively represent a state that hits the fan at least once a day. You put a smile on your face ready to go to class and breathe the fresh Texan air around you and then you find out your friend's been arrested for possession of marijuana. He’s facing jail time, contributing to Texas’s shiny “7th highest incarceration rate in the country” honor. A star falls. You lift your head up again, though, trying to take on the next day. Now your friend's pregnant. Just another statistic that puts Texas at #3 on the teen pregnancy rate ranking. A star falls. Move on, keep going. You made it to Social Problems class for once. The topic of the day is child marriage, and you learn that Texas has not yet banned child brides. Another star falls. Well, it can only get worse. And it does when your local public health official couldn't save a mother from dying while delivering her baby. Texas has now become the state whose 3 largest cities are among the top 4 cities with the highest uninsured population, and the maternal mortality rate is 30 per 100,000 births. And you can't do anything about it. I looked these all up, obviously, to feed the already-growing animosity I had towards Texas. I've been finding myself in dilemma after dilemma. Stuck in a state where my gay friends are denied service at restaurants. In a state where seeking women's health services means enduring lines of berating, threatening protestors. In a state where guns are second to Jesus and affordable health care is the spawn of Satan. In a state where Terry Jones is considered a freedom fighter and Malcolm X a terrorist. In a state where refugee labor runs the economy yet it's the first of 50 to deny refugee entry. In a state where mosque burnings are frequent and Qur’an burnings even more frequent. In a state where, because I’m Pakistani, I’m not good for anything if it’s not giving someone surgery or fixing their computer or enduring hate crimes as a gas station clerk. I’ve found myself in the dilemma of wanting to leave. Wanting to venture far out from the remote thought of Texas. Seattle, Portland, Santa Barbara, somewhere with coasts where your feet don’t get tangled in algae every 3 seconds and festivals where you burn 40-feet wooden statues instead of religious sites. Wanting to join my lost friends to all their aforementioned locations, where people that look like me and talk like me can be expected to be the first them the world had seen instead of what their parents’ friends would make of them. But I couldn’t. I’d had three years. I went to California but came back. I went to Canada but came back. To Boston. DC. Spain. I could have made myself disappear in any of those places but I came back for something more than the fact that I could provide for myself here, or be provided for by my parents. Being stuck sucks because once you escape you feel uncomfortable, unaware, scared. But being stuck also feels great, because it forces you to make what you can of your resources. It’s not a feeling of homeliness vs. unhomeliness; it’s something bigger. There must have been something I enjoyed about myself in Texas. And I found it being stuck here in the year of mishaps. For every burnt mosque I found, I found a Jewish temple willing to rebuild it. For every Qur’an a zealous pastor tried to burn there was a hero on a skateboard who snatched it from the fire. I found my joy in the South Asian enclaves of DFW and Houston and, yes, surprisingly, Amarillo, where I’ve tasted some of the best chicken karahi and chicken tikka and fried paneer of my life. I found my joy in a dorm room where a Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sudanese, Iraqi, Saudi, Palestinian, Jewish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Mexican and American group of friends set aside their differences because that’s what they’ve had to do their entire lives to make friends. I found joy in the rolling hills and the red canyons and the greenbelts and the blue holes and the cornfields and the wind farms and the riverbeds of this prolific state. I found joy in the fact that being one of the only kids of Pakistani descent in my school only meant being one of the first to do something spectacular for those that came before and those who will come after. And I, surprisingly enough, found lots of joy in Texas blue grass music. Studying literature, I became fascinated with the concept of identity, namely that of diasporic identity. And I missed a major aspect of diasporic identity when it finally came to me determining my own. An identity is one that the identity-seeker creates and the heritage embraces, and vice versa. In other words, I had to accept my identity internally as well as in accordance with my surroundings. All my surroundings. That is what I failed to do since I became sentient. I am American; my country claimed me as its citizen. I am Pakistani, my parents made sure to pass that heritage down to me as I grew up. But almost always, I am only one of those at a time. Other times, I am neither. Rarely was I ever both. In America people ask, “So what are you? Where are you from?” In America, I am presumably not American. I’m Pakistani. But my Urdu has become broken, my knowledge of Pakistani politics has almost zero value, when I go to my parents’ homeland I’m told not to talk to people because they’ll know I’m American. Because when I’m in Pakistan, I’m American. But I’m not both at the same time until I meet other people who experience the same thing. So I’ve come to terms with making that part of my psyche flexible. Some parts of my identity I’ve claimed, but they haven’t claimed me, and vice versa. But by being stuck here yet finding that joy in things, I’ve found that reciprocity in Texas. I am a Pakistani-American Texan. I bask in chicken tikka and American patriotism and southern hospitality all at once. I find solace in the red-pink sunsets across the Amarillo sky, relaxation in the swims in the Barton Creek greenbelt, excitement in SXSW and ACL and all the other musical acts Austin offers, meditation in the 6000-foot deep Palo Duro Canyon, reflection in the icy grasps of Texas’s historic blizzards and the chokehold of its historic floods and the sweaty embrace of its heatwaves. I find inspiration in the ones that get out and give back—in Beyoncé, in Cary Fagan, in Hakeem Olajuwon, in Wes Anderson, in Rick Husband, in Matthew McConaughey, and so many more. I can attribute Texas's setbacks to the many negative experiences I've had my entire life: bullying, Islamophobia, drought, isolation. Yet it would be wrong to discredit the places and people in Texas that have put a genuine smile across my face the past 18 years. I find being Texan to be a challenge every day, but I find that every day I complete that challenge it brings me closer to claiming the place as my own. Every day I mourn a fallen star for every time a Texan or a group of Texans screws something up, but every day I also find a Texan or group of Texans who have stayed long enough to pick up those fallen stars. And that’s the Texan I’ve become. Not one who turns their face away from a dire situation just to be free from Texas’s setbacks, but one who stays long enough to fix those setbacks and free Texas of dire situations. “Chala Vahi Des” is a song by a group of musicians who met in Rajasthan, India to record an album called Junun. The album featured Urdu, Hindi, Hebrew and English singers, who sought to turn the borders that were being fought over in Rajasthan into a place for ghazal, the “poetic expression of both the pain of loss or separation and the beauty of love in spite of that pain." “Chala Vahi Des” literally means “let’s go to that country,” and I found it fit to use such a phrase as the title of this book to invite others into my personal Texan heritage, which spans much broader than state politics and rodeos and southern accents. This book is meant to acknowledge Texas’s fallen stars, celebrate the reignited ones, and illuminate entirely new ones as we progress. It’s somewhat sad and realistic to say that I’ll eventually leave Texas, but before I depart I hope to go so far as encapsulate the glamorous yet rigorous upbringing that I and many others have had for the past 20, 30, 40-something years of our lives here. -Ali Haider Fort Worth, TX

Name: Mona.
Writing Blog URL(s): @jimjamjaemin.
What fandom(s) do you write for? In Tumblr, I write for NCT and WayV. In Wattpad, I still have an unfinished BTS and Blackpink that I'm not planning on completing anytime soon.
Age: 17.
Nationality: Indian.
Languages: English,Bengali, Hindi and a little bit of German and Korean.
Star Sign: Libra.
MBTI: INFP-T.
Favorite color: Black! Plus blue and white.
Favorite food: Fried Chicken!
Favorite movie: There are A LOT, but right now, it's Scent Of A Woman (1992).
Favorite ice cream flavor: Butterscotch!
Favorite animal: Dogs.
Coffee or tea? What are you ordering? Vanilla Latte!
Dream job (whether you have a job or not): A photojournalist/writer/diplomat/historian.
Go-to karaoke song: Unfortunately, I have never been to a karaoke.
If you could have one superpower, what would you choose? Telekinesis!
If you could visit a historical era, which would you choose? I'd like to go back to the Classical Antiquity, to the Greco-Roman world.
If you could restart your life, knowing what you do now, would you? Absolutely not. I'm happy with the decisions and mistakes I made till date.
Would you rather fight 100 chicken-sized horses or one horse-sized chicken? I think I'd rather fight one horse sized chicken. Getting trampled by a 100 chicken sized horses will not be the best way to go.

Do you believe in aliens/supernatural creatures? Yes! If we can exist then it's probable that other creatures exist too.
Fun fact about yourself that not everyone would know? I broke my nose by walking into a solid, sturdy, wall when I was five. A painful memory, but a memory nonetheless.
When did you post your first piece? Not sure, but I think 18th April, 2020 on Tumblr.
Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why? I prefer writing fluff and crack over angst. Writing angst makes me unhappy, unfortunately. I've never written smut and I don't think I'll write it anytime soon since I'm uncomfortable with it.
Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc? I generally write × reader online, but for personal projects I write OCs.
Why did you decide to write for Tumblr? I had a lot of ideas that I wanted to write and share, so I decided to share them via Tumblr! I can make friends and hone my writing at the same time!
What inspires you to write? The people around me inspire me to write. I like people watching a lot. Not like in a creepy way, but just little things, like a man working on the train, a mother trying to calm down her crying baby. That's how I click portraits too! By people watching.
What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most? I like writing Hogwarts AUs the most! I feel like I'm the one wielding the wand and going on adventures in the castle. I also like to write fairytale AUs, where there's a prince and a princess, or a prince and a commoner, etc. I like to see my characters come to life in settings like these.
What do you hope your readers take away from your work? When they read, I hope my readers feel what I felt while writing the work! I want them to feel the love I put into the work, I want them to laugh and just feel good, overall. I hope they feel satisfied, like I feel when I read a good book or a story.
What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively? I either listen to really really sad music, or observe the weather. Rainy days are my most productive days.
What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful? My most successful work is the father!Jaemin drabble while my most favourite work is 'Games', the cheater!Haechan oneshot. I felt confident when I wrote it. I'm a true romantic, so that particular work was a departure from my usual comfort zone.
Who is your favorite person to write about? Jaemin! His lovable nature is perfect for my usually fluffy and feel-good stories.
Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose? I do think there's a difference between writing fanfiction and completely original prose. In fanfiction, I have a basic idea about the character of the idol I'm writing about. I know what makes him/her laugh, his/her quirks. But in original prose, I have liberty to fashion my characters however I want. I can make him/her weird, normal, etc. I can do anything I want with my own characters.
What do you think makes a good story? Imagery! I feel that not many writers have the power to make me see or feel like I'm living in their world. But those who have that particular skill, I like reading their stories the most!
What is your writing process like? Suppose I get an idea, I first think about it, and then I start working. I haven't planned any fic thoroughly yet, but I try to get a good idea of what I'm going to write before I actually start writing.
Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story? Maybe.
What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand? I love enemies-to-lovers, friends with benefits to lovers. I dislike the rich man falls in love with poor girl trope.
How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you? I'd say, a lot. Like, out of 100% , 95%. I really, truly, want others to enjoy my work and take away something from them. Feedback motivates me to write.
Do you ever feel like people have misunderstood you or your writing at times? Not yet, thankfully. I hope they don't anytime soon.
Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr? My parents and 1 or 2 of my friends know about it.
What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers? I wish I could tell them that I'm here, if they want to talk or rant.
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there? I'd tell them to do it. Take the risk. If you don't, you'll be left wondering"what if?" Life is not long enough to have regrets .
Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr? Omg yes. The technical issues are a real headache.
Do you have any mutuals who have been particularly formative/supportive in your Tumblr journey? @elauniesdream has been really supportive! I haven't spoken with her much, but Elaunie, if you're reading this, ily and thank you!

Not all heartbreaks are the same, but all are painful if the relationship was serious. Emotionally broken na nga, physically weakening pa. Yung tipong malungkot ka na nga, di ka pa makakain kahit masarap ang ulam. Minsan other tends to suffer also from spiritual weakening. Yung tipong you just keep on asking our loving God why situations like these happen.
You’ve been listening to every sad songs in your playlist. Cried every tears na tila bang mata mo ay dehydrated na; talo pa ang tigang na lupa sa bukid. You also became angry at God throwing words to Him, describing Him as a God that He’s not, opposing the loving God you’ve once known. Yung tipong mala John Lloyd ang pagbato ng linyang, “Akala ko ba You are good, but why should this relationship needs to end.” Why do heartbreaks happen? Why would a loving God let this happen to me? How could I move on in a Christianly manner? Should I try to enter relationship once again? Will I ever find the right one?
God is love.
We need to understand that He is perfect in all His ways, and we’re not . That He knows what is best, and were not. That not all the answers we’ve been praying for are not always “Yes.’ We view relationship as something that we can control, something that we can work out on our own, that in the end, hindi niyo na alam that it was already broken. Even Christians are not also immune to broken relationship.
Pinangungunahan kasi natin ang plano ng Panginoon. When we think the time is right, but the motives are not, we are heading ourselves to the pit. “Lord, ramdam ko na, siya na.” “Lord, patrang right time na.” Not knowing, when we enter such things like these, we are preparing na already for marriage. Paano kung right timing, at right motives? To answer that is also a question, why did the relationship gets broken? How did you handle it?. What God had plan (right person) for you, He will never separate, even in hard times. If you’ve given it up for such reasons, then maybe that person is not for us. For love is worth fighting for and never seeks the wrong of others.
Of all the things I have learned from love, it is more than just a feeling na kung ramdam mo ay siya na talaga. Sometimes we base love according to our emotions. Minsan according to the looks or to the attitude. We thought love is all about matchmaking. “Maganda siya, funny ako. Bagay kami.”  Hindi dapat ganun. Since pinangungunahan natin ang Lord, we tend to commit these things that lead us into our own destruction.
Broken relationships happen. We may have different stories, but the results are all the same. Broken. Masakit.
Why do this situation happens?
I remember a verse in the Bible that says “ Do not awaken love before it is ready.” Song of songs 8:46b. In fact I memorized it by heart. Yet I never learned from it. God gave me the warning, pero sadyang makulit ata talaga ako that soon leads to being broken.
Of all the things that God is teaching me, it is always patience. I’m always in a rush na tila ba mauubusan ako ng panahon kapag di ko masubukan ang magmahal. As I was meditating on that verse, I have found my own fault.
IT WAS NOT READY.
Isang malaking sampal na babakat sa gwapo kong muka. I found myself trapped sa salitang “parang.”
Walang kasiguraduhan. When you are truly ready and sure, love will also be awaken.
We tend to rush things out of patience, that even when we are not yet ready, sinusunggaban na natin. We cry because we tend not to balance things out. Priorities over love? We hurt ourselves in the end dahil alam nating hindi pa oras para pumasok sa relasyon. Kaya nga kapag pinagsabay sabay na nating lahat, nahuhuli na nga ang pag ibig, dehydrated pa ang mata mo kasi di mo na mapagsabay ang lahat especially love, dehydrated na nga, napag iwanan mo pa si Mahal, then it leads to heartbreaks. We should also make sure na hindi lang dapat tayo ang sure at ready, dapat ready at sure din si the one. Why? Because if two are both ready, he or she can understand no matter the situation is.
Love knows its time, and will always know when it is ready. You can not force it.
Funny to say, we tend to limit God about the fact that He s always all knowing. Even in the matter of choosing kung sino si The One. God knows, but because we tend to seek decision on our own, instead of a beautiful rose ang nakuha natin, we always get the thorns.
God know the masterplan.
Yes, you’ve been trying to find thae right one. Yes, you’ve been finding answers. Jeremeiah 29:11 says
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ”
Alam ng Lord ang plano ng buhay mo. Alam ng Lord kung ano ang best para sayo, even in the aspect of relationship at kung sino si The One. If you’ve been finding the right one, put God always on the equation. Why? as we read the verse, God says He knows the plan in our live. Hindi ikaw ang may bhawak sa plano ng buhay mo kundi siya. If only we separate our own choices and follow His own then maybe situations would be different,
“Pero Kuya, sira na relationship namin. Hindi ko na kaya.”
Jesus said, “In this world, you will have trouble.” John 16:33
Jesus di not promise us that life in this world will always be easy. In fact, ang sabi niya’y makakaranas tayo ng pighati at problema. Bacause of our own doing, pinapahamak natin ang sarili natin. Even though we commit mistakes that lead to trouble, God can turn these problems into testimony.
“Have courage, take heart. I have overcome the world.” Tibayan niyo ang inyong loob. Napag tagumpayan ko na ang sanlibutan.
The warning that tere are troubles in life is a promise that He has overcome the world. Akalain mo yun! You’ve been broke, yet take heart! God is with us.Turn these afflictions into something that makes a better you.
“Pero kuya, siya na kasi talaga!”
I am not here to say na tigilan mo na. In fact I don’t have the authority to judge if that relationship is worth the fight. Hindi ko sasabihing “Mag sorry ka sa kanya.” or “Itigil mo na.” Ang katotohanan is is Him alone, mas totoo pa sa feelings mo sa crush mo. Listen to the still small voice that comes from Him. Sabi niya, “The truth will set you free.”
Don’t try to include emotion in deciding over relationship. You’re broke! But God is also close to you. Another promise from Him. God knows the desires of your heart and He is all knowing. God knows best. Pray for understanding His thoughts in making decisions and not by your own emotion. Why pray for understanding? Isang simpleng sagot sa isang simpleng tanong. Because His thoughts are always higher than us. It is hard for us to decipher or intindihin ang mystery ng buhay that only Him knows the answer.
Paano naman ang mga broken in pieces, still praying for the one.
“Kuya, should I still enter relationship once again?”
The answer is simple. FAITH! if you believe na may Right One na darating, then by faith, enter relationship, but before entering, make sure that both of you are ready. By faith, mahahanap mo din siya, and by faith God will bring him or her closer to you at the proper time. Hebrews 11 talks about faith. In this chapter, FAITH is defined as the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen, it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
If you believe, it will happen. Take relationship maturely, as God is so extravagantly serious for giving us the right one.God knows best. Always. Aam Niyang we are not created to be alone in this world kaya He made si The One. Unless You have the gift of celibacy. (Hindi makakapangasawa.) Pero sabi ko nga, if you believe, magkakatotoo. What God had created for six days is for the benefit of men. That includes right relationship. By faith if you believe na may Right One ka, the I repeat, it will happen.
Girls be a matured Christian woman. Boys be  a matured Christian men.
Yes, you are broken. maybe you’ve been crying for that broken relationship. Maybe you’ve been playing for sad songs on repeat. Take heart! He have overcome the world. Instead, think of all the good things He had done and also a promise that there is more to come.
A line from  a song says “Waiting for the day ‘til I hear You say here is the one I have created just for you.’“
Believe and it will happen. Also, always remember that God is love no matter how heavy your situations are. Kaya smile, you’re worth loving
 Believe and it will happen.
