The busy hallways of your high school were alive with the energy of students rushing to their next classes.
Amidst the sea of students, you made your way through the crowded corridors with an excitement that bubbled within you. The reason for your enthusiasm swung in your hand—a gaming magazine had just revealed the release date of the highly anticipated video game you'd been eagerly awaiting.
Hyunjin and Felix, your partners in crime since kindergarten, were waiting for you.
As you neared your usual meeting spot, a sudden obstacle appeared in the form of an unnoticed puddle. Before you could react, your foot lost its grip, sending you careening toward an embarrassing collision with the cold, tiled floor. In a split second, strong arms wrapped around you, breaking your fall.
"Whoa there! Quick reflexes, Hyunjin style." Hyunjin exclaimed, his grin showcasing his pride at the successful save.
Felix laughed heartily, "Nice dive! You should consider joining the school's gymnastics team, though I hear their routine doesn't involve slipping in the hallways."
You shot him a playful glare as he approached to make sure you were unharmed, "Thanks, Jinnie. And you," You said, turning to Felix, "Can save your sarcasm for someone else."
Felix chuckled, brushing off imaginary dirt from your shoulder, "Just making sure you're in one piece. You know, you should work on your gracefulness. It's not very lady-like to trip and fall."
Rolling your eyes, you retorted, "Oh, please. Who needs grace when you've got Hyunjin's superhero reflexes? And besides, I'm not planning to win any 'Miss Graceful' contests."
Hyunjin grinned, leaning against the row of lockers, "True that. But you might want to consider it. You'll never find a boyfriend if you keep stumbling around like a bull in a china shop."
You scoffed, the idea of conforming to societal expectations not even registering on your radar, "Who said I'm looking for a boyfriend anyway? I'm perfectly content with my PS5 and the upcoming release of Assassin's Creed. Relationships can wait."
Felix raised an eyebrow, exchanging a knowing look with Hyunjin, "Famous last words. We'll see how long that sentiment lasts."
You brushed off their teasing with a nonchalant wave, determined to keep your priorities in check. As the three of you continued down the hallway, you couldn't help smiling at the thought of the virtual adventures awaiting you in the upcoming game—an escape from the typical high school drama and the perfect reminder that, for now, you were content marching to the beat of your own, unapologetically clumsy, drum.
After grabbing a light breakfast together from the school cafeteria, you, Hyunjin, and Felix made your way through the bustling hallways, weaving through the student traffic. Despite being part of different classes, your morning ritual of meeting up for breakfast had become a comforting constant.
As you reached the fork in the hallway leading to your respective classrooms, Felix grinned, "See you guys at lunch. Don't trip over your own feet without me around to catch you!"
You playfully nudged him, "I'll try my best, Captain Obvious."
Felix waved, disappearing into his classroom, leaving you and Hyunjin to continue down the corridor. Although your class was situated at the far end of the school, you were used to the daily trek. Hyunjin, however, insisted on walking you there, despite the inconvenience it posed for him.
"Why do you bother walking me all the way to my class, Jinnie?" You asked, your voice tinged with amusement as you walked side by side.
He shot you a teasing grin, "Well, for one, I don't trust your coordination skills without Felix or me around. And secondly, what if there's a stampede, or a meteor falls from the sky? I need to be sure you make it to class in one piece."
You scoffed, "A stampede? Really?"
Hyunjin raised an eyebrow, adopting a mock-serious tone, "You never know. High school can be a dangerous place."
You rolled your eyes, but a smile lingered on your lips. It was moments like these that reminded you of the unique bond you shared with your friends. Despite the exaggeration, there was a genuine concern in his eyes that touched your heart.
Nearing the entrance of your classroom, you stopped, "You really don't have to do this every day, you know. I can handle walking to class without tripping."
Hyunjin leaned against the wall, his expression softening, "I know you can, but I want to. Call it my daily act of heroism."
You chuckled, shaking your head, "Fine, you overprotective hero. Thanks for the escort to class."
He grinned, walking you right up to the door, "Anytime, damsel in distress. I'll see you at lunch, okay?"
You nodded, feeling a warmth in your chest at the genuine care your friends showered upon you, "Okay. Don't save too many people on your way to class."
With a playful salute, Hyunjin turned to make his way to his own classroom. You watched him go, appreciating the small gestures that defined your friendship. As the classroom door closes behind you, you feel a sense of gratitude for the protective duo that made your high school journey more adventurous and, most importantly, full of genuine companionship.
Later that day, the cafeteria buzzed with the usual lunchtime chaos as you approached your designated spot between Hyunjin and Felix, your tray already waiting for you. Your heart warmed at the sight, and you skipped over with an infectious beam.
Felix, always quick with banter, smirked at you, "Look who decided to grace us with her presence. You missed the riveting conversation about Hyunjin's newfound muse."
Your eyes flickered to Hyunjin, whose cheeks sported a subtle shade of pink. Felix couldn't resist the opportunity to tease, "He wouldn't shut up about her just before you arrived."
You slid into your seat, the playful glint in Felix's eyes not escaping you, "Oh, really? What did I miss?"
Felix leaned in, lowering his voice conspiratorially, "Our dear friend Hyunjin here has developed a massive crush on the new girl in his class. Couldn't stop talking about her smile, her laugh, you know, the works."
Hyunjin shot Felix a mock glare, but his eyes twinkled with an undeniable excitement, "Felix is exaggerating, as usual. I just mentioned her once or twice."
The three of you were engrossed in the conversation when, like clockwork, the cafeteria doors swung open. Hyunjin's head snapped up, his gaze fixating on a girl who entered with an effortless grace. She was undeniably beautiful—Lia, the new girl who had captured your friend's attention.
"There she is." Hyunjin whispered, as if afraid the mere mention of her name would make her disappear. Lia glided through the cafeteria, a radiant presence that drew the attention of many. You couldn't deny the allure; she had an undeniable charm that seemed to captivate everyone in her vicinity.
While Felix seemed excited for Hyunjin, you couldn't shake off the inexplicable discomfort settling in the pit of your stomach. You smiled, or at least you tried to, but it felt forced.
As Lia joined a group of students at a nearby table, laughter and animated conversations surrounding her, you couldn't help but wonder why the idea of Hyunjin being enamoured by her left you feeling strangely uneasy.
Oblivious to the atmosphere shift, Felix continued to prod Hyunjin about Lia. But as your eyes met Hyunjin's, you sensed a vulnerability beneath his excitement—a vulnerability you hadn't seen before. The unspoken truth lingered in the air, and you couldn't escape the realisation that your heart seemed to protest against the prospect of him falling for someone else for reasons you couldn't quite comprehend.
In the following days, you found yourself caught in a web of conflicting emotions. You tried to rationalise the unease that had settled within you, convincing yourself that it was merely a consequence of your friends growing up. After all, it was only natural for them to develop romantic interests outside your tight-knit trio.
You repeated the logic like a mantra, assuring yourself that this discomfort was nothing more than an adjustment period.
"It's just new," You told yourself, stirring your food absentmindedly during lunch. Felix continued his good-natured teasing about Hyunjin's infatuation with Lia, blissfully unaware of the internal struggle you were facing, "They're growing up, finding other people. It's normal. You'll get used to it."
Yet, as days turned into weeks, the knot in your stomach refused to loosen. You grappled with the notion that the dynamics of your friendship were shifting, and it wasn't centred solely around the three of you anymore. The idea of someone else occupying Hyunjin's thoughts in a way you hadn't witnessed before tugged at a thread of discomfort deep within you.
"It's just silly jealousy," You scolded yourself in the quiet moments of introspection, "He's my friend, and I should be happy for him."
Deep down, you couldn't ignore the hope that Hyunjin's crush was just a passing phase—a temporary diversion that would fade with time. You yearned for the days when your trio's world revolved around shared laughter and inside jokes, not about some new girl that caught your friend's attention.
One day, as you all gathered for lunch as usual, Felix couldn't resist poking at Hyunjin once again, "Come on, Jinnie, just admit it. You're head over heels for Lia."
Hyunjin sighed, his cheeks tinged with a mixture of embarrassment and genuine affection, "Fine. I like her, okay? Happy now?"
Felix's victorious grin was matched only by the subtle tightening of your chest. You forced a smile, attempting to mask the twinge of disappointment.
As the conversation continued, Hyunjin's genuine excitement about Lia became increasingly evident. Felix's teasing took on a more playful tone, but every word seemed to emphasise the growing reality that your friend was genuinely interested in someone beyond the confines of your trio.
Each day that passed, Hyunjin's interest in Lia became a constant presence in your lives. While he physically joined you and Felix for breakfast and lunch, his mind seemed to linger elsewhere. Conversations that were once filled with silly jokes now revolved around Lia—her interests, her quirks, and every mundane detail that seemed to captivate Hyunjin's attention.
The unintentional distance you felt from Hyunjin left you perplexed and, admittedly, frustrated. Despite your attempts to rationalise these emotions, a growing sense of unease settled within you. It was as if the equilibrium of your friendship had been disrupted, leaving you feeling somewhat adrift.
One day, after Hyunjin had passionately detailed yet another encounter with Lia during lunch, you found yourself unable to contain the frustration any longer.
In the quiet corner of the school courtyard, away from prying eyes and curious ears, you decided to confide in Felix. As you sat on the familiar park bench, the one where countless secrets had been shared among the three of you, you hesitated before finally breaking the silence.
"Lix, I don't know what's going on. I mean, I should be happy for Hyunjin, right? But every time he talks about Lia, it's like... I don't know, something's off. It's like he's here with us physically, but his mind is somewhere else."
Felix regarded you with a knowing gaze, the crinkles in his eyes softened with understanding, "Feelings are complicated. It's okay to feel the way you do. Maybe it's just an adjustment period. Things will settle down."
You sighed, grateful for his calm demeanour, "I've tried telling myself that, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. It's just frustrating. I miss the way things used to be."
Felix leaned in, his tone gentle, "Change is hard, especially when it comes to friendships. But maybe Hyunjin needs this. Maybe it's his time to explore something beyond our trio. And who knows, it might just be a phase. People get caught up in new crushes, but that doesn't mean they forget their old friends."
You nodded, appreciating his perspective, "I just wish I could understand why I feel this way. It's like... I'm happy for him, but there's this nagging discomfort that won't go away."
Felix placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder, "Give it time. Sometimes, feelings need time to catch up with logic. And in the meantime, know that I'm here for you, no matter what."
In the days that followed, you made a conscious effort to follow Felix's advice. You reminded yourself that Hyunjin's sudden obsession with Lia was his first experience with romantic feelings, and it was only natural for him to be caught up in the excitement of it all.
Trying to be understanding, you even forced a smile when he recounted every interaction with Lia, assuring yourself that this phase would pass.
But just as you began to convince yourself that you had your emotions in check, things took an unexpected turn. Hyunjin, who had always insisted on walking you to class, suddenly approached you with an apologetic expression.
"Hey, listen, I'm sorry, but I can't walk you to class anymore." He admitted, avoiding eye contact.
The unexpected blow left you momentarily speechless, "What? Why?"
Hyunjin sighed, looking genuinely conflicted, "It's just... I don't want Lia to misunderstand our relationship. I mean, she might think there's something more between us, you know?"
Your initial shock gave way to a slow-burning frustration. While you wanted to be supportive of his budding romance, the abrupt change felt like a direct hit to the heart. The walks to class, once a cherished routine, now seemed like a relic of a time when your friendship hadn't been overshadowed by romantic entanglements.
Forcing a tight smile, you responded, "Sure, Hyunjin. Do whatever makes you comfortable."
As he walked away, leaving you standing alone in the hallway, you felt a sense of abandonment. The once-predictable rhythms of your friendship were now distorted, and the realisation that you were no longer a priority stung more than you cared to admit.
Felix, perceptive as ever, noticed the change in your demeanour. As he joined you in the hallway, he raised an eyebrow, "What's up with Hyunjin? I thought he was going to walk you to class."
You sighed, the weight of unspoken emotions heavy on your shoulders, "He said he can't anymore. Doesn't want Lia to get the wrong idea about us."
Felix's expression shifted from curiosity to a mixture of understanding and concern, "I know this is tough, but maybe he's just caught up in the excitement of his first crush. It doesn't mean he values your friendship any less."
You nodded, acknowledging his attempt to console you, "I get that, but it still hurts, you know? It's like our friendship is being redefined, and I don't know where I fit in anymore."
Felix offered a sympathetic smile, placing a reassuring hand on your shoulder, "Give it time. I'm sure things will settle down eventually. And in the meantime, you've got me. We'll figure it out together."
As Hyunjin's infatuation with Lia intensified, you found yourself grappling with the remnants of the once-familiar routine that now seemed like a distant memory.
One afternoon, as the final school bell echoed through the hallways, you made your way to the usual meeting spot where you and Hyunjin would walk home together. However, your anticipation gave way to disappointment as you saw him engrossed in conversation with Lia, the two of them making plans to spend time together after school.
Felix, who had been watching your expression closely, slung an arm around your shoulder, "Hey, don't let it get to you. You know, it's okay to feel upset."
"I'm not upset." You retorted, but the hurt in your eyes betrayed your attempt at nonchalance.
Felix raised an eyebrow, a knowing smile playing on his lips, "You can't fool me, idiot. It's written all over your face. You miss your walks home with him, don't you?"
You sighed, giving in to the acknowledgement of your feelings, "Yeah, I guess I do. It's stupid, though. Friends hang out with other people. It's not a big deal."
Felix squeezed your shoulder gently, "It's okay to feel this way, you know. And there's nothing 'stupid' about it. You're allowed to miss your friend."
As you walked home with Felix that day, the silence between you spoke volumes. The absence of Hyunjin, once a comforting presence by your side, left a void that seemed to echo with the uncertainty of changing friendships.
The following days only deepened the ache.
Your attempts to be the supportive friend, cheering Hyunjin on as he pursued Lia, felt increasingly like a façade. The more you tried to suppress your feelings, the more they seemed to claw at the edges of your consciousness.
It was during one of your late-night conversations with Felix, the dim glow of streetlights casting shadows on your faces, that he broached the subject with a keen intuition that caught you off guard.
"You know," Felix said, his gaze fixed on the stars above, "It's possible you're jealous because you have feelings for Hyunjin."
Your immediate reaction was a vehement denial. How could you harbour romantic feelings for your childhood friend, especially when you had always prided yourself on being the voice of reason within the trio?
Oh hell nah, ain't no freaking way.
But as Felix turned to look at you, his eyes filled with understanding, you felt a sudden vulnerability. Despite your initial resistance, you couldn't escape the possibility that he was right. Your feelings for Hyunjin might indeed transcend the boundaries of friendship.
"What? Are you hearing yourself, Lix? That's insane!" You laughed incredulously, dismissing his implication with a wave of your hand. The idea of having romantic feelings for Hyunjin seemed preposterous to you, and you were determined to push aside any inkling of such emotions.
Felix, however, frowned at your attempt to brush off the subject. He could sense the unease beneath your laughter, the subtle deflection in your words, "I know you better than you think. You can't deny what you're feeling."
You scoffed, refusing to let his words penetrate your resolve, "Me? Having feelings for Hwang Hyunjin? Did you hit your head or something?" You chuckled, playing off the notion as absurd.
But as you met Felix's serious expression, you recognised the gravity of the situation. He was about to talk some sense into you, to unravel the emotions you had been desperately trying to suppress. But before he could utter a word, you beat him to it.
"Just watch me, Lix. I'll prove you wrong." Your tone carried a determined edge, a promise to yourself that you could navigate these confusing emotions without succumbing to what seemed like an inconvenient truth.
Felix sighed heavily, realising that there was little he could do if you were determined to turn a blind eye to your own feelings. He knew that sometimes, facing the truth required a vulnerability that not everyone was ready to embrace.
As you gathered for your breakfast routine one morning, Hyunjin began his usual recounting of Lia's latest escapades, and you found yourself unable to bear it any longer.
"Hyunjin," You interrupted, the words escaping before you could reconsider, "I'm sick of seeing you pine after Lia. It's distracting, and I can't focus on anything else. So, I've decided to help you win her heart."
Ecstasy washed over his face, "Really? You'd help me?"
You nodded, forcing a smile that didn't quite reach your eyes, "Yeah, I mean, why not? You deserve to be happy, right?"
Hyunjin's eyes lit up, and he immediately pulled you into a tight hug, "Thank you! You're the best! I'll buy you the next Assassin's Creed game when Lia agrees to be my girlfriend!"
As he cheered, Felix observed the scene with a mixture of disbelief and realisation. It dawned on him that your seemingly selfless act of playing matchmaker wasn't entirely altruistic. A smirk played on his lips as he shook his head, understanding the true motive behind your plan.
"So, this was your way of proving me wrong, huh?" Felix remarked, his voice carrying a note of amusement.
You avoided his gaze, the charade now exposed, "I just want him to be happy. That's all."
Felix chuckled, seeing through the act, "Sure. Just remember, you can't run from your feelings forever."
Later that evening, you walked home with Hyunjin for the first time in what felt like ages. But the reason behind his company left a bitter taste in your mouth. It wasn't because he missed your walks or longed for the friendship you once shared. No, the only reason was to strategise about his mission to win Lia's heart.
As you strolled down the sidewalk, Hyunjin excitedly started talking about his plan, "So, I was thinking maybe I should join some clubs or events that she's interested in. What do you think?"
You pushed all unnecessary thoughts aside and focused on the task at hand, "Sure, that sounds like a good idea. We need to figure out what she likes and find a way for you to connect with her."
The mention of 'we' felt strangely out of place, a reminder of the changed dynamics between you and Hyunjin. Nevertheless, you pushed those feelings aside, determined to help your friend succeed in his pursuit of happiness.
Felix, who had been watching the interaction with an amused smirk, couldn't resist commenting, "Look at you two, planning Hyunjin's love story. Who would've thought?"
You shot him a glare, not appreciating the smugness in his tone, "This is for Hyunjin, Lix, not for your amusement."
Felix raised his hands defensively, "Alright, alright. I'm just enjoying the show."
As you neared your doorstep, you took a deep breath, ready to lay out a rough plan for Hyunjin, "Okay, here's what we're going to do. First, we need to find out more about Lia's hobbies and interests. Once we have that information, we can create opportunities for you to interact with her in a more meaningful way."
Hyunjin nodded eagerly, trusting you with the details of his mission, "Leave it all to you. You're the best."
As you arrived at your doorstep, Hyunjin gave you a thankful hug before skipping off to his home just a few blocks away. Sighing deeply, you feel a twinge of emptiness. The hug felt different, less like a shared moment between friends and more like a transaction—gratitude for a service rendered.
With renewed determination, you wasted no time. The moment you stepped inside your room, you pulled out your phone and began stalking all of Lia's social media accounts. Your mission was clear: decipher her likes, dislikes, and everything in between.
Little did you know that this quest, seemingly straightforward, would lead you down a path of self-discovery and unexpected twists, challenging the boundaries of friendship and forcing you to confront emotions you had long been trying to ignore.
As the days unfolded, you immersed yourself in the role of the ultimate wingman. Your efforts to assist Hyunjin in winning Lia's heart were meticulous, each action carefully calculated to showcase his best qualities. Despite the outward display of support, a quiet turmoil brewed within you, a storm of conflicting emotions that threatened to break through the carefully constructed façade.
In your quest to prove Felix wrong, you inadvertently delved deeper into the complexities of your own heart. The more you tried to suppress the whispers of your own feelings, the more they seemed to echo in the quiet moments of self-reflection.
As Felix watched you navigate this internal struggle, he wished you would just confront the truth instead of burying it beneath the guise of friendship.
With your careful planning and Hyunjin's sincere efforts, you watched as he began to get things right. He made it a point to learn about Lia's favourite snacks and beverages, surprising her with thoughtful treats that garnered appreciative smiles. Conversations shifted from superficial exchanges to discussions about her favourite pastime activities, creating a connection that seemed to grow with every shared moment.
You watched from afar as he transformed himself, aligning with the qualities he knew she admired. He became more attentive, more considerate, and tailored his actions to better appeal to the type of guys she was attracted to.
While the genuine nature of his intentions was evident, each successful move felt like another layer of separation between the Hyunjin you knew and the person he was becoming for Lia.
Then came the pivotal moment.
Fueled by newfound confidence, he approached Lia and managed to ask her out on a date. From the way he pumped his fists in the air in victory, it was clear that she said yes. As he turned around to look for you, a beaming smile on his face, he spotted you observing the scene. With a thumbs up and eyes filled with excitement, he acknowledged your silent support.
Despite the clenching in your heart, you smiled back and clapped, showing him that you were genuinely happy for his success. The internal conflict between your desire to see your friend happy and the undeniable twinge of discomfort lingered in the background.
It was a bittersweet moment, a celebration of his triumph in love, overshadowed by the realisation that the dynamics of your friendship had undergone a significant shift.
During lunch, the three of you gathered as usual, but the atmosphere was tinged with an unspoken tension. As you sat with your tray, Felix shot you a look, his expression a mix of disapproval and concern. You avoided his eyes, focusing on your food and pretending not to notice his silent judgment.
The news of Hyunjin and Lia's upcoming first date buzzed around the table, and despite the apparent excitement, Felix's gaze lingered on you. He wished you knew that he was only trying to protect you, a silent plea echoing in his eyes. Deep down, he feared that all this effort might lead to you getting hurt in the end.
As the conversation flowed, Felix couldn't contain his disapproval any longer, "So, playing matchmaker seems to be working well for you and Hyunjin." He remarked, a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
You glanced up, meeting his eyes for a brief moment before averting your gaze, "Yeah, I guess it is."
Felix sighed, the concern etched on his face, "I hope you know what you're doing. Playing with emotions is a risky game."
You could sense the genuine worry in his words, but a stubborn determination held you captive. You knew there was a risk involved, but you've already come this far. It was as if a self-imposed obligation drove you to see this through until the end, no matter the consequences.
As the lunch bell rang, signalling the end of the break, Felix shot you one last look—a mix of caution and understanding. The unspoken conversation between you two lingered in the air, a silent acknowledgement of the uncertainties that lay ahead.
With a deep breath, you steeled yourself for what was to come. The journey you embarked upon had no clear destination, but one thing was certain: you're committed to helping Hyunjin until the end.
As the final bell rang, signalling the end of the school day, you gathered your belongings, preparing to head home. Just as you were about to make your way through the crowded hallway, Hyunjin rushed up to you, grabbing your wrist in his haste. Startled, he twisted you around, and for a brief moment, your eyes rounded at the close proximity between your faces.
His eyes widened in realisation, and he immediately stepped back, stammering, "S-sorry, I was just—"
You shook your head, feigning nonchalance despite the racing of your heart, "It's fine, what is it?"
Hyunjin beamed at your question, his initial awkwardness dissipating, "I need your help in picking an outfit for my date this weekend."
You ignored the sharp stab you felt in your heart at the cruel reminder. Suppressing your emotions, you nodded, "Of course, I'll send you some ideas tonight."
But he shook his head, a hopeful glint in his eyes, "No, I was hoping you could come over before the date and help me put together something nice...?"
You blinked, surprised by the unexpected request, "Why not get Felix to help you with that?"
Hyunjin pouted, swinging your arm around playfully, "Oh, come on, you're the one who promised to help me until the end, right?"
Sighing, you realised he was right. It was your commitment, not Felix's. Relenting, you nodded, "Alright, fine. Sheesh. I'll see you then."
Hyunjin cheered, thanking you profusely before running off, presumably heading to spend time with Lia. As he disappeared into the crowd, you couldn't shake off the lingering discomfort that settled in your chest.
Hang in there, you can do this.
Standing in front of the mirror, you scrutinised yourself for the umpteenth time before questioning your actions. Why did it matter how you looked to Hyunjin? After all, you'd literally grown up together, and he'd seen you at your best and worst. The reflection staring back at you seemed to mock the unnecessary anxiety that had settled in.
The sound of your phone's notifications going off snapped you out of your thoughts. Unlocking the device, you found texts from both Hyunjin and Felix. Hyunjin's message was playful, urging you to hurry over, 'Bestie, get your ass over here already!!!😭'
Felix's text, however, carried a different tone, one of understanding and support, 'Hyunjin told me you're going over to help him. I know nothing I say can change your mind, but I just want you to know that no matter what happens, I'll be here for you.'
Reading Felix's words nearly brought tears to your eyes. It was a reminder of the loneliness that came with keeping these feelings to yourself. In that moment, you realise the weight of the emotions you've chosen to carry alone. But there was no one else to blame; you made the choice yourself, and now it was time to finish what you started.
With a deep breath, you locked your phone and shook off the lingering self-doubt. Adjusting your outfit one final time, you muttered a quiet affirmation to yourself and headed towards Hyunjin's house.
Upon arriving, you were greeted by his infectious excitement, "Finally, you're here! I need your expert fashion advice."
Suppressing the internal turmoil, you forced a smile, "Alright, let's get this over with."
As you entered his room, surrounded by the familiar scent of his space, you felt a twinge of nostalgia. The memories of your friendship flooded back, but now, they were tainted with a layer of complexity.
The process of picking an outfit began, with you providing suggestions and Hyunjin trying on various combinations. Looking at him more closely now, you hated that you suddenly found him so attractive.
You watched as he struggled with some of the buttons on his shirt before looking up at you with a pout, "Some help would be nice?"
His request cut through the air, and you couldn't hide the inward sigh. The situation was already complicated enough, and now he was making things even more difficult. Rolling your eyes in a feigned display of annoyance, you walked up to him, determined to maintain a facade of indifference.
As you carefully worked through the buttons, your concentration remained fixed on the task at hand. Hyunjin, however, couldn't help but let his gaze remain on you. His eyes naturally drifted downward, taking in the familiar sight of you deep in focus. At that moment, he found you adorable, with your tongue poking out from the corner of your lips and a small frown between your eyes.
Huh, guess not much has changed.
Standing up close, he began to notice details he hadn't paid attention to before. Your eyelashes were surprisingly long, framing expressive eyes that held a history of shared laughter and secrets. The baby fat in your cheeks had disappeared after the braces, leaving behind a more defined and mature look. He also noticed how pink and soft your lips appeared.
The realisation hit him like a wave—have you always looked this pretty? The question lingered in his mind, surprising even himself with the depth of observation he was suddenly making. It wasn't that he hadn't considered your attractiveness before, but in this moment, with the proximity and the shared history, it became more pronounced.
Finished with the last button, you stepped back, offering a casual comment, "There. All set."
Your best friend, however, remained silent for a moment, his thoughts still lingering on the newfound awareness of your features. The atmosphere in the room had shifted, unspoken sentiments hanging between you two.
Standing at his doorstep, Hyunjin, ready to go on his date with Lia, smiled down at you, "Thank you for your time and effort," You shook your head, "No worries, good luck and have fun." But as you turned to leave, a peculiar sense of unease settled in him; it didn't feel right watching you go by yourself.
Before you could take more than a few steps, you were surprised to find him beside you, matching your pace, "What are you doing? You'll be late if you don't go now."
He shrugged, unable to fully grasp his own actions but feeling the need to do this, "It's fine, Lia can wait a bit. I'll walk you home. You came all this way to help me. It's the least I could do."
Your heart skipped a beat at that gesture. For the first time since Lia entered your lives, he was putting you first, prioritising you over her. But the conflicting emotions only intensified; it wasn't making things any easier for you.
Reaching your home, you shooed him with a teasing smile, "Alright, I'm home safe. Now, hurry and go get your dream girl."
He smiled back but didn't move from his spot. You shook your head and playfully pushed him, "Go, you idiot. What are you—"
Suddenly, he pulled you into his arms for a hug, his lips close to your ear, "She may be my dream girl right now, but you'll always be my number one."
Your breath hitched at those unexpected words. Before you could react, he pulled away and ran off, leaving you standing there, a mix of confusion and warmth swirling within.
Stop doing this to me, Hwang Hyunjin.
The restaurant was adorned with soft lights and a pleasant ambience, the perfect setting for a romantic evening.
But Hyunjin was struggling to enjoy his first date with Lia as much as he had anticipated. Despite having dreamed of dating her for so long, his mind seemed to be preoccupied with thoughts that he couldn't fully understand.
As Lia spoke, sharing stories and laughter, he felt a subtle distraction, his mind involuntarily drifting back to you. It was as if a veil had been lifted, and he found himself unknowingly comparing his date to you. Of course, Lia was undeniably beautiful, a fact that anyone with functioning eyes could see. But she just wasn't... you? He didn't know about anyone else, but to him, you were prettier.
Realising the direction of his thoughts, Hyunjin mentally slapped himself for disrespecting Lia in such a way. Determined to salvage the date, he forced himself to focus on what she was saying, pushing away the distracting comparisons.
However, as the evening unfolded, he couldn't shake off the subtle feeling that the date wasn't going as well as he'd expected. He blamed himself for the disconnect, fully aware that he was the one responsible for the disarray of his own emotions.
Attempting to be present in the moment, he engaged in conversation, trying to enjoy the company of the girl he had dreamt of for so long. But the shadow of conflicting thoughts persisted, casting a pall over what should have been a joyful and momentous occasion.
As the night progressed, Hyunjin found himself immersed in a whirlwind of conflicting thoughts. Despite his efforts to be present on his dream date with Lia, a growing sense of unease crept in. The realisation dawned on him like a quiet storm—he wasn't being entirely honest with her, and perhaps, more importantly, he wasn't being true to himself.
The version of himself that Lia had come to like was a meticulously crafted persona, tailored to fit her preferences. They engaged in activities she enjoyed, ate food she liked, and talked about subjects that captivated her. He even dressed in a way that he believed appealed to her tastes. In the process, he wondered if Lia liked him for who he truly was or merely for the version of himself he had presented to win her over.
If he were to be himself, would Lia have liked him at all? The sincerity of their interactions seemed to be overshadowed by the facade he constructed. It made him question the authenticity of their connection.
Aside from that, a more profound doubt surfaced—he questioned whether he genuinely liked Lia for who she was or if he was just infatuated with the idea of her. Was he captivated by the fantasy he created in his mind, rather than the reality of the person sitting across from him?
That night, the weight of the evening's revelations lingered as he collapsed onto his bed after sending Lia home.
Sighing heavily, he thought about the missed opportunity. He hadn't kissed her goodbye like he used to imagine. Instead, all he managed was a simple 'goodnight, see you at school next week' before leaving her doorstep. It wasn't the romantic farewell he envisioned, but the weight of his internal conflicts restrained him.
In the solitude of his room, he decided that it was time for a change. He acknowledged that the version of himself he'd presented to Lia wasn't sustainable, nor was it fair to either of them. With a newfound resolve, he made a decision—he would give her another chance, but this time, he wanted to be genuine, to be himself.
Perhaps, if he allowed Lia to see the real him, and if he took the time to genuinely understand her, there might be a chance for something more authentic to blossom between them.
With this resolve in mind, Hyunjin closed his eyes, attempting to push all thoughts of you out of his mind. You were his best friend, and he had to remind himself of that fact. As sleep claimed him, he envisioned a future where the real him and the real Lia could find common ground, unburdened by the illusions that initially clouded their connection.
The following week at school, you and Felix were surprised by Hyunjin's demeanour. He didn't exhibit the expected excitement that typically followed a successful first date. Instead, he seemed to have reverted to his previous self, the Hyunjin you knew before the Lia obsession took centre stage.
Your surprise was evident when, out of the blue, Hyunjin began walking you to class again. His laughter rang out as he snickered at the puzzled expression on your face, and without warning, he playfully ruffled your hair, "Stop looking at me like that." He teased.
In response, you whined and swatted his hand away, "Not the hair, you jerk!"
His laughter continued, a sound you've missed, and he couldn't hide his happiness at seeing this side of you again. Deep down, he knew he pushed you away with his previous behaviour. Slipping an arm around your shoulder, he spoke, "Look, I'm sorry for the way I behaved previously. I know you must've been hurt. I promise to make it up to you."
Before you could inquire about the details of his date with Lia and the sudden change in his attitude, you arrived at your class. He squeezed your shoulder reassuringly before leaving, "See you at lunch."
You nodded, still slightly confused but undeniably happy. Maybe the date didn't go as well as he'd hoped? The possibility filled you with hope, and you couldn't shake the optimism that bubbled within. You found yourself looking forward to lunchtime, eager to uncover the mysteries behind his change of heart.
The lunchtime rendezvous brought an air of anticipation as the three of you gathered at your usual spot. Despite Hyunjin's seemingly improved attitude, a sense of unease lingered in the air.
As you exchanged casual banter, he finally broached the subject, "Guys, there's something I want to talk to you about." His tone carried a weight that immediately caught your attention.
"I've been thinking," Hyunjin continued, his gaze shifting between you and Felix, "About Lia. I want to take a different approach with her. I've decided to be myself, the real me, around her. I want her to like me for who I truly am."
Your heart sank at his words, a sinking feeling of déjà vu washing over you. The hope that had briefly ignited was swiftly extinguished. It became clear that Hyunjin's newfound determination was geared toward pursuing a more genuine connection with Lia. While on the surface, it seemed like a positive step, the implications were disheartening.
Felix, however, expressed his support, "That's a great decision, Jinnie. Be yourself, and if she likes you for who you are, that's even better."
While Felix's words were encouraging, his eyes betrayed a different sentiment. They shifted to you, a subtle expression of concern. He understood the implications of Hyunjin's decision, knowing how you probably felt at that moment.
Another week passed, and Hyunjin, beaming with pride, announced to you and Felix that he was going on a second date with Lia. While you feigned happiness for him, Felix saw through the facade. The strain of suppressing your true feelings became apparent, and Felix, unable to watch you suffer in silence, decided it was time to intervene.
On the night of Hyunjin's second date, Felix took it upon himself to keep you company and distract you from your thoughts. Together, you baked brownies and indulged in a fun movie night. As the credits rolled on the screen and the room dimmed, he turned to see you staring numbly ahead, clearly lost in your own thoughts.
Sighing, he reached across and placed his hands over yours, "Talk to me, please. I want to be there for you. Why do you keep doing this to yourself? What are you trying so hard to prove, hm?"
The concerned look in your best friend's eyes finally broke through the walls you'd built around your emotions. With a heavy exhale, you crumbled, unable to hold back the feelings that had been festering within.
"It's just... I don't understand why I'm doing this to myself," You admitted, "I keep pretending to be okay, to be happy for him, but every time he talks about Lia, it just hurts. I don't know why I'm trying so hard to prove something. Maybe I'm just scared of losing him, of things changing between us."
Felix listened attentively, his grip on your hands offering both support and reassurance, "You don't have to go through this alone, you know?" He said softly, "It's okay to feel the way you do, and it's okay to talk about it."
With those words, the floodgates opened, and you poured out the conflicting emotions that had been plaguing you, "You were right... I guess I do have feelings for him."
Felix listened with a soft, understanding smile, his eyes reflecting a sense of calm assurance. He wasn't at all surprised by the revelation, having sensed the undercurrents of your emotions for some time.
"I don't even know when it started or why I feel this way," You confessed, your voice tinged with a mixture of confusion and vulnerability, "Hyunjin has been my best friend for as long as I can remember, and suddenly everything feels so complicated."
Felix squeezed your hand, "It's okay, you know. Feelings can be messy, and they don't always follow a logical timeline. What matters is that you're opening up about it now. You don't have to do this alone, and I'm here for you, no matter what."
He smiled softly, a reassuring warmth in his gaze. Felix didn't have all the answers, and he knew that unravelling the complexities of emotions wasn't a straightforward task. But he was determined to be the support you needed, offering a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on, and a friend who understood.
Meanwhile, on his date with Lia, Hyunjin couldn't shake the nagging feeling that something was off.
Lia was a nice girl, but as the evening went on, he began to realise that she might not be exactly his type at all. It wasn't something he consciously thought about before, but as he spent time with her, he couldn't help comparing her to you again.
You, with your unladylike antics that he always teased you about but secretly cherished. Lia, in contrast, seemed different, and the more he pondered on it, the more he realised that different wasn't necessarily what he was looking for. He missed the easy banter and shared interests he had with you and Felix.
During their conversation, he noticed how Lia appeared bored or uninterested whenever he brought up stories about you and Felix. It struck him that, unlike your friendship, their discussions seemed one-sided, revolving mostly around Lia and her interests.
As she excused herself to the bathroom, he took the opportunity to check his phone.
Scrolling through Instagram, he stumbled upon Felix's story. The images and captions painted a vivid picture of a cosy evening filled with laughter—something he found himself envious of. At that moment, he realised that he wanted to be there with you.
As Lia returned from the bathroom, he felt that something was missing, and for the first time, he questioned whether pursuing a relationship with her was the right path for him.
Determined to move on from your feelings for Hyunjin, you decided to refocus on the things that once brought you joy – your love for gaming. Despite Hyunjin's announcement of giving up on Lia, a part of you understood that he was and would always be nothing more than your best friend.
Regardless of how things worked out with Lia, your feelings for Hyunjin would remain unrequited.
Returning to the library's gaming section, you immersed yourself in the digital worlds that always provided comfort. It was there that you met Seungmin, a fellow gamer who shared your passion for virtual adventures. The two of you quickly bonded over your favourite games, strategies, and the thrill of defeating virtual foes together.
Felix noticed the positive change in your demeanour and was relieved to see you returning to your usual self again. The laughter and excitement you shared with Seungmin during gaming sessions became a refreshing break from the emotional complexities that had weighed on you.
However, Hyunjin struggled to come to terms with the shift. Every mention of Seungmin stirred an unsettling feeling within him. He found it hard to reconcile the fact that you were forming a connection with someone else, and it left him grappling with emotions he hadn't anticipated.
Despite the internal turmoil, he understood that your happiness was most important. He tried to be supportive, but the subtle twinge of discomfort lingered whenever Seungmin's name came up.
After school, you excitedly ran up to Hyunjin and Felix, who were waiting for you by the school gates, "Hey, losers, sorry I can't walk home with you guys today. Go on without me; I'll see y'all tomorrow!"
Before you could dash off, Hyunjin's brows furrowed, and he reached for your wrist. Twisting you around, the moment felt like déjà vu from the day you helped him with his outfit. Both your eyes widened at the sudden proximity, and Felix cleared his throat awkwardly, looking away.
Hyunjin blinked rapidly before sputtering, "Wh-where do you think you're going, young lady? Your parents will be worried if you don't go home now."
You pulled away from him, rolling your eyes to feign nonchalance, "Jinnie, please. Do you think I'm you? My parents already know I'll be out after school today," Felix chortled to help lighten the atmosphere, "Hate to admit it, but she's right, bro."
Hyunjin scoffed, "Well, I'm just worried. You know how clumsy you can get," Before you could respond, Seungmin called your name from behind, and you beamed, "Don't worry, Seungmin will take care of me." He didn't like the sound of that one bit.
Just as he tried to stop you from going to Seungmin, Felix grabbed his arm and shook his head.
"Let her go."
Hyunjin didn't understand why it felt like those three words held a deeper meaning. He watched as you joined Seungmin, the two of you walking away, laughter floating back towards them. Felix turned to Hyunjin, his expression unreadable.
Oh, how the tables have turned.
Hyunjin couldn't shake the unease that settled within him as he continued to watch your retreating figures. It was a feeling he couldn't quite define, and for the first time, he wondered if his worry for you went beyond the bounds of friendship.
As the two boys walked home, Hyunjin couldn't shake the lingering discomfort. The unease prompted him to turn to Felix, needing some clarity on the matter.
"Hey, what do you think about Seungmin?" Hyunjin asked, his voice carrying a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
Felix smiled knowingly, understanding the source of the inquiry, "Seungmin? He's a good guy. He's not just a gamer; he's dedicated to his studies too. I've noticed he's had a positive influence on our bestie, encouraging her to study harder as well."
Hyunjin nodded, absorbing Felix's words. He tried to accept his friend's reasoning and rationalise the situation for himself. Why was he feeling so unhappy about this anyway? Felix seemed just fine with your new friendship and even supportive of it.
Perhaps he should learn to be the same.
"Yeah, you're right," Hyunjin replied, forcing a smile, "I guess it's good that she's found someone who gets her interest."
Felix clapped him on the back, "Exactly! Seungmin seems like a genuine guy. Let's just be happy for her."
Hyunjin nodded again, attempting to bury the unease and be supportive like Felix. But deep down, a part of him couldn't shake the feeling that he was losing something, something intangible yet significant, and the journey to fully understand those emotions had just begun.
Meanwhile, you made a conscious effort to push aside the thoughts and emotions stirred up by the encounter with Hyunjin.
As you walked alongside Seungmin, chatting about the latest game releases, you couldn't escape the replay of the moment when Hyunjin grabbed your wrist. Your heart still raced as you wondered about the desperation in his eyes.
Could he be... jealous?
Did he feel the same way about you, or was it just a reaction to your attention being diverted from him and Felix? Rationalising, you convinced yourself that it was probably the latter. After all, Hwang Hyunjin, the charismatic and charming friend, couldn't possibly reciprocate your feelings. It was safer to assume that he wasn't used to your attention being on someone other than him and Felix.
You couldn't shake off the feeling that you needed to save yourself from further misery. The idea of Hyunjin shifting his focus to another girl loomed in your mind. Sure, the Lia phase was over, but he could very well set his eyes on someone new at any time.
Perhaps it was time to guard your heart, to protect yourself from potential heartache. Resolute in your decision, you pushed aside the uncertainty and focused on Seungmin, someone who seemed genuinely interested in you for who you were.
Despite your best efforts, you found your mind involuntarily comparing Seungmin to Hyunjin, and you mentally scolded yourself for these incessant thoughts.
Urging yourself to stop these comparisons, you recognised that if your feelings for Hyunjin weren't clouding your judgment, you might have fallen for Seungmin instantly. He was everything you could want in a guy – your dream guy, to be precise.
Seungmin shared the same interests, hobbies, and principles as you did. He was attentive, considerate, and almost perfect for you. Although he might not have been conventionally the ideal type for most, he fits your ideal perfectly. So close to perfection, if only he was... Hwang Hyunjin.
You snapped out of your thoughts when Seungmin called your name, informing you that he would be back in a bit as he went to collect your food order. You softened at his gentlemanly gesture, realising that you were being unfair to him by comparing him to Hyunjin. Seungmin was his own person, and you were determined to appreciate and like him for who he truly was.
The realisation hit you hard, and you resolved to give Seungmin the attention and consideration he deserved. After all, he had done nothing but show kindness and genuine interest in you.
Seungmin walked you home that evening after a day filled with fun and laughter. Arriving at your doorstep, you turned to him in gratitude, "Thank you so much for walking me home. Gosh, you really didn't have to. It'll be late by the time you get home."
He grinned, teasing, "Aww, are you worrying about me?"
You scoffed, "What if I am? It can be dangerous to be out late alone."
Unable to resist, he wrapped you in a hug. You stilled for a moment before lifting your hands to hold onto him, "You have no idea how happy I am that you care this much about me." He admitted, and you couldn't suppress your smile at his words.
"Of course, I care about you, Kim Seungmin. What kind of friend would I be not to?" You replied as he pulled away, a genuine warmth in your words.
He seemed to contemplate something before gathering the courage to ask, "H-hey, I was wondering... are you free this Saturday?"
Just as you were about to answer, a new voice interrupted you both, "No, she's not. She has plans with me, sorry." said Hyunjin, standing nearby and staring coldly at Seungmin. The unexpected interruption caught you off guard.
You glared at Hyunjin, annoyed by his sudden intrusion, "What? No, I don't." You retorted, not appreciating his assumption.
Hyunjin seemed hurt by your swift rejection, but trying to save his pride, he added, "Yes, you do. Felix got us tickets to see the latest Marvel superhero movie."
Furrowing your brows, you couldn't recall Felix mentioning any of these plans, "He did?" You questioned, feeling a bit perplexed.
Seungmin, aware that Hyunjin was your close friend, decided to be the bigger person, "That's alright, perhaps another time. I have to get home anyway. I'll see you at school." He said diplomatically, not wanting to leave a bad impression.
You nodded quickly, feeling bad about Hyunjin's borderline rude behaviour, "Text me when you get home, yeah?"
"I will." He beamed and patted your head affectionately before walking away. Hyunjin fumed from his corner, observing you watching Seungmin leave until he was out of sight. The tension lingered, leaving you with a mix of frustration and confusion as you turned your attention back to Hyunjin.
"Dude, what the hell was that?!"
Hyunjin rolled his eyes in annoyance, "What? Are you so upset that you don't get to go out with your little boyfriend again?" He retorted with a dismissive tone.
You narrowed your eyes at his sudden attitude, "Seungmin's not my—" You paused and took a deep breath, not wanting to entertain his childish behaviour, "What are you even doing here in the first place, Hyunjin? Did Felix really get us movie tickets this weekend?"
He gulped and looked away, unable to meet your eyes. That answered your question; he lied about the tickets. You sighed, growing tired of the drama, "I don't have time for this. If you won't talk, then I'm leaving."
Turning to enter your house, he quickly grabbed your wrist.
No, not again.
You distanced yourself before he could pull you close to him, determined to protect your heart.
But he couldn't hold back any longer. Frowning at the distance you deliberately put between you two, he exploded, "I've had it, alright? What's gotten into you all of a sudden? Seungmin this, Seungmin that! I'm sick of hearing about him! Do you even care about me and Felix anymore?"
You laughed humourlessly at those words, tears welling up in your eyes, "So, now you know how it feels, huh?"
He froze at that, realising the hypocrisy of his actions.
Wiping your tears harshly with your sleeves, you continued, "How selfish can you be, Hwang Hyunjin? I kept quiet and supported you while you obsessed over Lia, even when you pushed me aside. And now that I've found someone I like, you can't accept it?"
He gulped and lowered his head in shame.
"So it's alright if you do it, but when I do it, it's outrageous and unacceptable, huh? I see how it is."
Not wanting to hear another word from him, you stalked into your home and slammed the door shut, leaving him outside, confronted by the consequences of his actions.
The following day at school, you refused to speak to Hyunjin. When he attempted to chase after you and confront you, Felix stopped him with a serious expression that revealed he knew more than he let on. Stepping aside, the two of them finally decided to address the elephant in the room.
Felix began with a sigh, "She told me what happened last night."
Hyunjin avoided his friend's eye contact, feeling a deep sense of shame. This was a repeat of what happened with you before, but now it was Hyunjin's turn to feel the weight of his actions. Felix deduced that Hyunjin must have returned your feelings, seeing his reaction to Seungmin's appearance in your life.
"You know, it hurt her more than anyone for you to say those things to her," Felix explained, his tone serious, "It's extremely unfair to her. How you felt seeing her with Seungmin, was what she went through when you had Lia. But she kept it all in and suffered alone. She didn't even confide in me. I had to beg her to lean on me, seeing how much it affected her."
Hyunjin felt an overwhelming wave of guilt with this revelation. He had guessed that you'd be hurt, but he didn't fully understand the extent of it until he experienced it himself. He neglected you even more than he realised.
Goddamnit, I'm a horrible friend.
Felix, tired of all the charades, wanted his best friend to wake up to his own feelings. Firmly, he began, "Hyunjin, I want you to think carefully about this."
Hyunjin looked up at Felix's determined gaze, anticipating what he was about to say.
"Do you think that perhaps the reason you're this upset is because you have feelings for her?" Felix asked pointedly.
Hyunjin froze. The thought constantly lingered in the back of his mind, but he always refused to acknowledge it, let alone voice it out loud. It felt like it wasn't supposed to happen. After all, he had known you since you were all in diapers; you'd grown up side by side. How could it be possible that all of a sudden, he would be seeing you in a different light?
With Felix asking this question, Hyunjin knew the feelings must have been there for his friend to see through in the first place.
That would explain why he had been so unhappy to see you with Seungmin, especially when Felix seemed less than bothered by it. The realisation hit him like a ton of bricks, and he felt a mixture of confusion, denial, and a hint of something he couldn't quite put his finger on.
Felix placed a hand on Hyunjin's shoulder, "I know it sounds crazy, but deep down, I trust you know the answer better than anyone else. Just... take your time and figure it out before deciding how you want to approach her. Whatever happens, I'm here for you, alright buddy?"
Hyunjin nodded gratefully, "Thank you, Felix." The weight of the realisation hung heavy in the air, and he couldn't deny that he needed to confront his feelings, as confusing and unexpected as they were.
As Felix walked away, Hyunjin took a deep breath, grappling with the newfound awareness that his emotions for you might be more complicated than he ever imagined.
During lunch, you decided to be the bigger person and chose not to ignore Hyunjin any longer. Instead, you opted to act like nothing had happened. You didn't want any confrontation and wished only to move on from the drama. Thankfully, Hyunjin didn't pester you, especially with Felix sending him warning looks.
As you sat down, you engaged in casual conversation with both of them, discussing topics that steered clear of any emotional tension.
Hyunjin found relief in the momentary peace.
He realised that this was for the best, a chance for him to figure out his own feelings for you without the weight of recent events clouding his judgment. The lunch table, which had once been a source of joy and comfort, now felt like a battleground of unspoken emotions. He couldn't shake off the guilt, but he was determined to navigate through the complexities of his feelings.
Little did he know, you were also fighting with your emotions, doing your best to maintain a facade of normalcy for the sake of the friendship you cherished.
That weekend, Felix decided to make a genuine effort to lighten the atmosphere within your friend group. He went and bought movie tickets for real this time, hoping that this outing could serve as a reset button for all of you, despite the underlying emotional tension between you and Hyunjin.
As you approached the two of them, your usual cheerful self, Hyunjin fought to keep his heart still. You weren't necessarily dressed up for the occasion, but in his heightened awareness of his feelings for you, he couldn't deny that you looked beautiful to him no matter what you wore. He tried to pull himself together as you threw your arms over both their necks in a group hug.
He instinctively reached his hand over your back, holding you against him. At that moment, he closed his eyes, savouring the feeling of having you close. The warmth of your embrace and the subtle scent of your familiar perfume made it difficult for him to ignore the growing realisation that his feelings for you were deeper than he had ever acknowledged.
The movie outing, intended to bring back the carefree dynamic of your friendship, unknowingly became a pivotal moment in Hyunjin's self-discovery.
Felix observed you two knowingly, shaking his head at how oblivious you were to each other's feelings. While you attempted to maintain a distance, Hyunjin made every effort to close the gap, taking a step closer every chance he got. Despite your attempts to push him away, Felix could tell that it was becoming increasingly difficult for you to deny your own heart's desires.
Throughout the entire day, Hyunjin took care of you in every possible way. He offered to buy you whatever you wanted, handed you his jacket when the cinema hall got too cold, and even accompanied you to the washroom during the long movie.
You stared at him incredulously when he followed after you, whispering, "Jinnie, what are you doing? I'm fine going alone; I know where the washroom is."
He shushed you and gently pushed you out of the hall, saying, "I won't forgive myself if anything happens to you. Just let me do this."
Despite the flutter in your heart, you rolled your eyes and relented, "Ugh, fine. Don't blame me when you miss what happens in the movie later."
One of the cleaner ladies witnessing your banter chuckled, "Young lady, you have a wonderful boyfriend. You should let him take care of you if he wants to, not all men are like that nowadays."
Choking on your spit, you waved your hands at her, "N-no! You've got it all wrong, he's not my—"
Squishing your cheeks to disrupt your attempt to clarify, Hyunjin smiled politely at her before grinning mischievously down at you, "Listen to the kind lady, my love. She's right."
Once the lady was out of sight, you slapped his hand away with a glare, "You do that again, Hwang Hyunjin, and I'll kick you where the sun doesn't shine."
He burst out laughing at the threat, and you struggled to suppress the smile forming on your face as you entered the washroom.
The outing continued, and Felix marvelled at how Hyunjin's actions were a silent testament to his growing feelings for you. It was as if he had unconsciously shifted into a more protective and caring mode. Felix exchanged glances with Hyunjin when you weren't looking, silently urging him to confront his emotions.
Hyunjin's attempts to get closer to you were evident. He lingered beside you during breaks, shared his snacks, and even stole a glance or two when he thought you weren't looking. Felix hoped that this could be the turning point for both of you.
By the end of the day, as you bid farewell, Hyunjin's eyes held a certain warmth that hadn't been there before. Felix smiled knowingly, hopeful that the walls both of you had built around your hearts might finally start to crumble.
The two boys walked you home that evening. Upon arriving at your doorstep, you turned to bid them goodbye, "Thanks, Lix, for the movie, and thanks, Jinnie, for the snacks. I had a good time with you losers." You said with a playful smile.
Felix laughed, giving you a warm hug, "You're welcome, idiot."
Hyunjin, not one to be outdone, waited for his turn. As his arms enveloped you, your face pressed against his shoulder, you hoped he couldn't hear the frantic beating of your heart. Little did you know, his own heart was racing just as fast. Squeezing you in his arms, he pressed a subtle kiss onto your head and whispered, "Anytime, cutie."
You blinked rapidly, feeling a sudden warmth spread through you. Felix cleared his throat, and Hyunjin reluctantly let you go. You smiled and waved at the two of them, "Alrighty then, I'll see you both at school."
Waving back, they turned to leave. Unbeknownst to Hyunjin, Felix caught him muttering a quiet, "Can't wait."
A week had passed and Hyunjin was just glad you no longer brought up Seungmin again, perhaps you've drifted apart from the boy? Whatever it was, he was just happy to not hear that name again.
Ah yes, things are finally returning to normal.
Or so he thought.
The cafeteria bustled with students, the usual hum of conversation filling the air as the three of you settled into your regular lunch spot. Hyunjin's eyes sparkled with excitement as he leaned forward, suggesting an idea for the upcoming weekend.
"Hey, let's do something fun this Saturday! I heard there's this new arcade opened—"
Before he could finish, your sheepish smile and the gentle rub on your neck halted him, "Sorry, I won't be able to make it. You guys can go ahead without me though."
Hyunjin furrowed his brows, "What? Why not?"
You sighed, conflicted about sharing the information but recognising the necessity, "I'm... going on my first date with Seungmin."
His cheerful expression faltered, his eyes reflecting a mix of surprise and disappointment, "Seungmin? You're still seeing him?"
You nodded hesitantly, your gaze shifting away, "Yeah, we've been hanging out quite a bit lately, and he finally asked me out. I didn't want to bring it up, but since you asked..."
The atmosphere grew tense, and Felix, who was listening to the conversation, threw a concerned look at his friend. Hyunjin tried to put on a brave face, forcing a smile, "Oh, that's... that's great. I hope you have fun."
Felix intervened, sensing the underlying tension, "Well, we can reschedule our plans. No big deal."
You offered an apologetic smile, "Thanks, Lix. I really appreciate it."
Hyunjin forced a smile, trying to mask the discomfort he felt, "Yeah, go have a good time."
His gaze lingered longingly on your retreating figure as you left lunch early that day. The once-clear path of friendship now seemed muddled, and the excitement for the weekend plans felt overshadowed by heartache.
The streetlights cast elongated shadows on the sidewalk as Hyunjin walked home, his steps heavy with self-pity. His gaze was fixed on his phone screen, flipping through your Instagram stories with Seungmin. Felix, catching up to his despondent friend, slung an arm over Hyunjin's shoulder.
"Dude, why didn't you wait for me?" Felix asked, noticing Hyunjin's distraction.
Hyunjin didn't respond, lost in his thoughts. Felix glanced over and sighed when he saw your stories playing on Hyunjin's phone. Swiftly, he snatched the device out of his friend's hands.
"That's enough. Will you keep wasting away while the girl you like is out there with another guy? Aren't you going to do something about your feelings?" Felix's words were firm, a mix of concern and frustration.
Hyunjin, taking his phone back, continued trudging home, "What can I do, Lix? All she sees is Seungmin. It doesn't matter how I feel."
Without warning, Felix smacked him on the back of the head. Hyunjin froze, rubbing the back of his head as Felix continued walking.
"Is that what you think? So you're upset with her seeing Seungmin because you have feelings for her. You do realise she felt the same way seeing you with Lia, right? So, what does that tell you?" With those words hanging in the air, Felix left Hyunjin standing there, the pieces slowly falling into place in his mind.
Wait, does that mean she feels the same?
The soft chime of incoming messages interrupted your preparations for the date with Seungmin. You checked your phone to find a series of texts from Hyunjin, desperation evident in his words. He insisted that he needed to meet you urgently, that there was something important he needed to discuss.
Sighing, you considered ignoring him, determined to focus on your evening with Seungmin. But the messages continued to flood in, Hyunjin's pleas echoing through your phone. You were tired of the emotional rollercoaster, the constant back and forth.
Just as you were about to throw your phone aside, a few more texts flashed across the screen. Hyunjin persisted, wanting to talk to you, to meet with you, 'Please don't go to him.' Frustration welled up in you, but you maintained your resolve.
With a firmness that surprised even yourself, you replied, 'Enough, Hyunjin. I'm going on this date with Seungmin whether or not you like it. You're not stopping me this time.'
As you hit send, a text from Seungmin arrived, informing you that he had arrived.
Fixing your hair one last time, you took a deep breath and made a conscious decision to put thoughts of Hyunjin aside for the night. Tonight was about you and Seungmin, and you were determined to enjoy the evening without the interference of unresolved feelings.
Except it was harder than you think.
The cityscape sparkled with lights as you walked beside Seungmin. Despite the vibrant atmosphere and your date's engaging company, every corner of the city seemed to whisper memories of Hyunjin. You couldn't escape the nostalgia that flooded your mind, remembering the countless times you and your childhood friend had roamed these familiar streets together throughout the years.
It became a bitter realisation that, no matter how much you tried to focus on Seungmin, your mind wandered back to your best friend. The restaurants you passed, the park you strolled through, every place held echoes of shared moments with Hyunjin.
To make matters worse, your phone vibrated incessantly with continuous messages from him. Despite your decision to ignore him, his texts continued to flood in, each one a reminder of his persistence. It tugged at your heartstrings, making it harder to immerse yourself in the date.
As the night progressed, you found yourself in a constant battle between the present and the past, between Seungmin and Hyunjin.
Just why are you doing this to me?
Letting out a tired sigh, you pushed your phone back into your pocket after seeing yet another text from you-know-who. You managed a convincing smile for your date, trying to push away the distraction of Hyunjin's persistent texts. But Seungmin's concern was evident as he placed a reassuring hand on your arm.
"Hey, everything alright?" He asked, his eyes reflecting genuine care. Your heart twinged with guilt for letting your emotions surface so easily. Nodding your head, you quickly regained your composure.
"Yep, all good. Ooh, let's go see that over there!" You pointed towards an intriguing stall, its shelves filled with peculiar items. You hoped the novelty would distract Seungmin—and, in turn, yourself—from the underlying tension of the night.
As you both explored the colourful array of trinkets and curiosities, you did your best to be present, banishing the persistent thoughts of a certain someone. Little did you know, Seungmin observed your efforts with concern, hoping to make the evening memorable for you.
Fingers intertwined with yours, he gently tugged you away from the crowd to a quieter corner by the beautiful Hangang River. The distant city lights reflected on the water's surface, casting a serene glow on both of you.
There, you stumbled upon a talented busker passionately pouring their heart into a soulful melody. Seungmin's eyes sparkled with delight as he guided you to a spot where you could enjoy the performance undisturbed.
In that moment, surrounded by the soothing music and the gentle night breeze, you smiled shyly. His presence felt warm and comforting, and for an instant, all you could see was him. He truly was a great guy, someone who could be the perfect boyfriend.
You could see it, see yourself being happy with him.
Until you couldn't.
The busker's next song struck a chord deep within you, a familiar melody that wrapped around your heart like a haunting echo from the past. It was your song, the one you and Hyunjin had dedicated to each other; it signified how much you meant to one another.
As the singer's voice carried the tune, memories of late-night talks, stolen glances, and the warmth of Hyunjin's presence flooded your mind. It was a bittersweet reminder of a connection that ran far deeper than you'd allowed yourself to acknowledge.
You knew you were hopeless when a voice you knew too well from behind you called out your name.
Hwang Hyunjin stood there, his eyes fixed on you with a mixture of emotions that mirrored your own inner turmoil. The shattered fragments of the future you envisioned with Seungmin lay scattered like a broken mirror, and there was no escaping the truth that had resurfaced with the haunting melody.
Turning to face him, you knew you were a lost cause the moment you laid your eyes on him. You had no control over how your heart instantly reacted to merely seeing him.
Seungmin's smile faltered, his grip on your hand loosening. The sudden shift didn't escape your notice, and when you looked up at him with tearful eyes, you found a bittersweet understanding in his gaze. His hand gently patted your head, a comforting gesture that carried an unspoken message.
"It's okay. Follow your heart, go to him," He said, his voice soft and understanding. His reassuring smile attempted to dispel any guilt you might feel, "Don't apologise, please. From the beginning, it was clear that your heart belonged to someone else. I knew that, and I just wanted to try my luck winning it over. But it's alright; I can tell this whole time, it's still with him."
His words lingered in the air, carrying both acceptance and a touch of melancholy. Hyunjin, who had been silently observing, began to view your date in a different light. Felix's insight had been right; Seungmin was a great guy.
Giving your hand a final, supportive squeeze, Seungmin nodded encouragingly at Hyunjin before walking off into the night.
The atmosphere around you seemed to shift, the distant sounds of the city melting away as Seungmin left you alone with Hyunjin and the weight of his words hanging in the air.
"Great, he's gone now. Are you happy?! What is it that's so freaking urgent that you had to ruin my date—"
Before you could process the mix of emotions, Hyunjin closed the distance between you. Your anger bubbled up at his apparent interruption, but he cut through your words with a revelation that shook you to your core.
"I'm in love with you, okay?!"
The confession hung in the air, and for a moment, the world stopped. You looked at him, your heart pounding, thoughts racing.
The truth that lingered beneath the surface had finally surfaced, leaving you both vulnerable and exposed. As the weight of his words settled in, you found yourself at a loss for how to respond.
Time seemed to come to a standstill.
You stood there, eyes wide, trembling, as the weight of his words sank in, "Wh-what?" You croaked, almost disbelieving. You feared your mind might be playing tricks on you.
Hyunjin softened, reaching gently for your hands, "I said, I'm in love with you. Always have been. It's... it's always been you. I should've known when I couldn't stop thinking about you even when I was with Lia. I'm sorry it took me this long to realise."
Your eyes rounded at the sincerity in his voice as he continued, "And I know that you feel exactly the same way I do."
You scoffed lightly at his confidence, "And how would you know that?"
He smiled, his gaze unwavering, "Tell me I'm wrong then. Tell me I've never once crossed your mind while you were with Seungmin."
You huffed in defeat, and he brought a hand up to cup your face, making you meet his gaze, "It has been painful watching you be with him, but I deserved it after making you watch and help me chase after Lia. I'm an idiot. I don't know how I've been so blind to my own feelings all this while."
You chuckled, placing your hand over his affectionately, "Believe it or not, I'm not much better. I didn't realise I loved you until Lia came around too."
His heart skipped a beat at your words, and he rested his forehead against yours, "Say that again."
You frowned, "Say what? That I'm no better than you?"
He laughed, "Not that. What you said after that."
You blinked slowly, "That I... love you?"
He nodded, biting his lip, "Again."
You blushed, murmuring, "I love you, you idiot."
His heart soared at that, "I love you too." Before you knew it, you were both leaning in, and your breath was taken away when you finally felt his lips pressed against yours. The world seemed to vanish, leaving only the two of you and the shared realisation of a love that had been there all along.
Hyunjin took you home, and the journey was a blur of stolen kisses, laughter, and the promise of a future that was now crystal clear. He kissed you dizzy at your doorstep, a sweet and lingering moment that left you breathless.
As you unlocked your front door, still feeling the warmth of his touch on your lips, you couldn't shake the need to address things with Seungmin. Despite the confusion of your emotions, you felt responsible for any unintentional hurt you might have caused.
Pulling out your phone, you composed a long text to Seungmin, expressing your sincerest apologies for leading him on, even when that wasn't your intention.
His reply came not long after, and you felt relief as you read his understanding words. Seungmin reassured you that he cherished the friendship you both had and was genuinely happy for you. You sighed, grateful that he handled it with such grace, and responded with a heartfelt thank you.
The weight on your shoulders lifted, knowing that at least one aspect of the situation was resolved amicably.
As the night settled in, you found yourself sitting by your window, a gentle breeze carrying the promise of a fresh start. Texts from Hyunjin lit up your screen, each message carrying a piece of the happiness that now coloured your world.
You smiled, realising that sometimes, the best things in life were the ones that took time to unfold.
The following week, you and Hyunjin walked into school hand in hand, a couple at last. The shift in your relationship wasn't much of a surprise to anyone. It has always been clear to most people that there was something slightly more between you; Hyunjin's protective nature and constant presence by your side made it obvious, that the love he had for you was different from Felix's platonic one.
The subtle hints that hung between you two over the years were now out in the open, and the school could finally witness the natural progression from best friends to something more.
Felix, stationed by his locker with an amused smirk, "Finally! I was this close to losing my patience waiting for you fools to realise you belonged together." His words carried a teasing tone, but there was genuine happiness in his eyes as he looked at the two of you.
Hyunjin chuckled, "Thanks, Lix. I won't lie, we probably wouldn't have been together yet if it weren't for you."
You nodded in agreement, "For real, you're the best," Grateful for the support and nudges from Felix, you jumped into his open arms, embracing him with genuine warmth. He grinned teasingly at your boyfriend as he hugged you back tightly, "I sure am."
Hyunjin, feigning jealousy, cleared his throat, "Alright, alright, that's enough! Hands off my girlfriend." He pulled you back into his arms, giving you a playful glare. You giggled, basking in the joy of finally being able to show your affection openly. The three of you shared a moment, knowing that this new chapter in your lives had been a long time coming.
The laughter-filled atmosphere at the lunch table spoke volumes about the comfort and happiness that had settled into your lives. With your boyfriend sitting by your side and your best friend across from you, the three of you enjoyed the moment.
Felix, ever the playful instigator, decided to bring up a memory, "Hey, remember when you said you had no interest in dating? Funny how things turned out, now look at you."
You scoffed, playfully rolling your eyes at his persistent teasing. Just as you were about to feed Hyunjin some of your kimchi fried rice, you paused midway, giving Felix a mock glare, "How many times have we been over this? Give it a rest, will you?"
Hyunjin whined at the interruption, and you turned to feed him with a coo, making him smile. Felix burst into laughter, thoroughly entertained, "Nope, I'll never let you live this down."
Your boyfriend swallowed the food in his mouth before throwing a tangerine at Felix, "Leave her alone and pick on someone your own size, Lee Yongbok."
Felix shook his head amusingly, catching the fruit in his hand, "Okay, okay, sheesh."
Amid the laughter and light banter, Felix suddenly shifted the mood, his expression turning serious, "Hey, on a serious note, you two. I just want you to know how genuinely happy I am for both of you. I wish you nothing but the best, and I hope you'll be together for a really long time. You both mean the world to me and your happiness is what matters most."
Hyunjin wrapped an arm around you and nodded, "I promise, Lix, I'll take care of her for as long as I'm capable of doing so."
Your eyes grew a bit wet at the sincerity of their words. Just as the moment was turning emotional, Felix, in his typical fashion, couldn't resist adding a touch of humour, "Oh, and by the way, if you have a kid, name them after me. Felix has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?"
You and Hyunjin stared at him, unamused, for a brief moment before bursting into laughter. Without missing a beat, you both reached over to give him a playful smack, "Dream on, Lix."
Deciding to go on a date after school, the two of you waved your best friend goodbye before skipping off in the opposite direction.
Swinging your intertwined hands, Hyunjin couldn't help but pout at the thought of your gaming plans with Seungmin over the weekend, "Can't you hang out with me instead of gaming with Seungmin, hm?" He asked, a playful whine in his voice.
You rolled your eyes, a teasing smile playing on your lips, "Jinnie, please, you're the one who told me the importance of maintaining our own lives outside of our relationship, right?"
He sputtered for a moment, caught off guard, "W-well, I mean, yeah, I did but—"
You shook your head, cutting off his protest with a gentle finger pressed against his lips, "No 'buts.' I'm playing with Seungmin, and you can't stop me."
Turning to continue walking, he tugged on your wrist and pulled you against him. With a gasp, you placed your hands on his chest to steady yourself, "Really? You'd rather play games with some other guy than do this with your own boyfriend?" He murmured, his tone a mix of playfulness and a hint of something more.
Before you could respond, he leaned in, kissing you with an intensity that caught you by surprise. Your knees buckled, and you would have fallen if it hadn't been for his strong hold on you. Your eyes fluttered closed almost instantly as you melted into the kiss, all thoughts of gaming and Seungmin fading away.
When he pulled away, a satisfied smirk playing on his lips, he gazed at your dazed state, "Tell me, is gaming better than this, hm?" He teased, his voice carrying a playful tone.
Lost in the trance of the moment, you shook your head, feeling his lips brush against yours before he kissed you again. The sensation was electrifying, but if Hyunjin thought he had won you over with that, he was severely mistaken.
Because when the weekend came around, and you were immersed in your gaming session with Seungmin, no amount of kisses from Hyunjin could distract you from the digital world you were exploring. As much as you loved the moments with your boyfriend, your passion for gaming was a part of who you were, and it was a promise you intended to keep.
But you did let him come over while you game.
Hyunjin pouted as he watched you talk excitedly into the mic on your headset, your enthusiasm evident in every word you spoke to Seungmin. Despite his initial playful complaints about being abandoned for games, he couldn't fight the smile that grew on his face.
As you laughed and strategised with Seungmin, Hyunjin appreciated how genuinely happy you were in these moments. He understood that your passion for gaming was a significant part of who you were, and he respected that.
Seated beside you, he immersed himself in his own world of sketches and drawings. The atmosphere was filled with the sound of your laughter and the clicking of his pencil against the paper. He was content, knowing that you were both doing things you loved, even if they were very different. Being by your side was all that mattered to him. And as he glanced at you with a soft smile, he thought, maybe, opposites do attract after all.
He couldn't resist leaning over to plant a kiss on your head as you played. You winked at him in response, making him laugh.
When the long match finally ended in your favour, you jumped up, arms thrown around his neck in triumph, "We won, Jinnie!" You exclaimed, and he cheered alongside you, savouring the victory.
As you celebrated, Hyunjin sneakily wrapped his arms around you and whispered, "Should I reward you for doing such a good job?" A mischievous glint sparkled in his eyes.
You gasped, slapping a hand over his mouth when you heard a loud groan through your headset. Seungmin's voice echoed, and you realised he could still hear you with the mic unmuted, "Ew, I really didn't need to hear that. My day's completely ruined now, thanks."
"Shut up, Seungmin. You've been hogging my girlfriend all day. Can I have her back already?" Hyunjin scolded, and your face turned a shade of red.
Seungmin laughed good-naturedly, "Fine, she's all yours."
Hyunjin grinned in victory as you ended the call with Seungmin, and he wasted no time pulling you back into his arms as soon as you logged out of the game.
"Damn right, she is. All mine."

I'll be honest, this slightly strayed from the initial direction that I was gonna go for, but I'm happy with how it ended.

Disclaimer: These characters do not represent the in real life people they are portraying and these stories are strictly fictional!
“You shouldn’t be in here.” Minho taunted, his hands either side of your face on the tiled bathroom wall that was cold and hard behind your back, his face inches from yours.
“Neither should you.” You countered keeping your eyes locked on his, knowing full well the intensity in your eye contact would be driving him insane.
“What would your brother say if he saw you like this with me?” He teased inching closer to brush his lips against yours with the slightest of contact, giving you the bare minimum with the intent of making you crack first.
“What would your best friend say if he saw you like this with me?” You continued to direct his exact questioning back at him.
You noticed his jaw clench from the corner of your vision, and you knew your attitude was getting to him more than he wanted.
Changing his tactics, Minho brushed his lips to the corner of your mouth, along your jawline and up to your ear, pressing a soft kiss to the earlobe and letting his warm breath tickle the skin under your ear.
“What if I told you, I don’t care?” He spoke into your ear with a low husky voice that sent a shiver up your spine.
You wanted to believe what he said, but you knew he cared. Just as you did.
Moments like these always felt surreal.
You had admired Minho from the moment you laid eyes on him.
Your brother Hyunjin had met Minho first and you wondered more often than not, how things would have turned out, if you had met him first instead.
You still remember the first time you met Minho all those years ago.
You were in your second last year of high school at the time and had just completed a long exhausting day of classes.
You were shorter back then, quieter and didn't stray far from your comfort zone. Vast in contrast to the self assured, slightly taller and out going individual you had grown up into.
You were in the kitchen making an after school snack before you planned to hide away in your room, with headphones blocking out reality as you fantasised your life away, when in walked your brother Hyunjin with someone you'd never seen before.
He was tall, around your brother's age and walked into the room like he owned the space. His eyes were cat-like, scanning over the new surroundings and when they landed on you they blinked slowly, taking you in from head to toe.
He was handsome, alluring and with his attention all on you, you felt powerful, which confused you, in any other situation you would feel helpless and nervous.
"If you're making a sandwich can you make one for me and Min too?" Hyunjin asked pushing past you to make his way over to the fridge, where he retrieved two soda cans for himself and his new friend that seemed to go by the name 'Min'.
Your brother's slight push into your back as he passed, adverted your gaze from the new boy momentarily and you turned to give Hyunjin a glare.
"And why can't you make them?" You questioned him, pointing the blunt knife end of your butter knife at him.
"Because Minho is our guest, and my hands are full." Hyunjin cheekily remarked, shutting the door with his hip and dramatically waving the soda cans in his hands.
You rolled your eyes without responding, turning back to continue making your sandwich; but your eyes were adverted by the motion of 'Minho' leaning forward on his hands, on the section of the island counter you were working on.
Your eyes flickered up from your half made sandwich to lock gazes once more with the auburn-eyed stranger you now knew to be Minho.
"Sup. I'm the Minho your brother so rudely hasn't introduced you to." Minho smiled, his voice lined with charm as he tilted his head like he was still trying to decipher whether he liked what he saw or not.
At a closer inspection Minho didn't seem so cocky with the sharp definitions of a model.
He was physically fit, with a broad chest and defined arm muscles that displayed protruding veins thanks to the sleeveless shirt he was wearing and you could tell from the dried sweat on his neck that Hyunjin and him must have met at Hyunjin's hip-hop class.
His hair was dark brown, the colour of milk chocolate and framed his face too perfectly for having just completed an intense dance class. It was mid-length and the style looked a little over grown from a fresh hair-cut, but somehow it looked better that way.
He had a well structured jawline that appeared hand carved by the gods, in vast contrast to the softness held in his eyes as he looked at you.
His nose was perfectly balanced, but still held the tip of a button nose and his lips were plush, pillowy and kissable....kissable?
You swallowed the saliva that had built up on your tongue and dragged your attention away from his lips back to his eyes which now held a hint of amusement from catching you checking him out.
"I'm y/n. I'm sure Hyunjin has probably already ruined my reputation." You said coolly trying to recover from being caught red-handed checking out your brother's new friend and distracted yourself by continuing with your sandwich.
Hyunjin tsked throwing his arm over Minho's shoulder like they had been friends for years, rather than a few hours and you couldn't help but smile at the exchange, knowing that Hyunjin took a while to warm up to most people.
"You think so little of me cub." Hyunjin feigns hurt, but doesn't miss the opportunity to tease you with the nickname he had stowed upon you from a young age.
You rolled your eyes at his teasing, but pulled four more slices of whole-grain bread out to make them sandwiches as well.
"We're gonna go upstairs to my room, bring them up yeah?" Hyunjin ordered, but gave you a genuinely appreciative smile as he used the arm around Minho to drag him towards the stairs.
You were half way through a nod at the two boys when Minho turned back towards you with a smile lighting up his cheeks.
"It was great to meet you, y/n." He called back to you.
A blush filled your cheeks and you physically froze, not expecting him to acknowledge you again.
You watched him retreat with your brother upstairs, and to this day, you regretted not telling him that meeting him that day was the best thing that had ever happened to you.
Four years had past since then and your relationship with not only your brother improved, but Minho and you both had grown super close...too close in Hyunjin's eyes that to the point of a year ago he warned you to back off.
"I don't know what you think you have going on with Minho, but I don't want you to embarrass yourself. You aren't his type and he isn't interested. I don't want you causing an issue where Min finds being around you uncomfortable and then finds being around me uncomfortable." He had lectured you one afternoon as a result for openly flirting with Minho in front of him for the first time.
He wasn't aware of the countless times Minho had initiated these interactions when Hyunjin wasn't paying attention, but you bit your tongue and nodded like the good sibling you were.
Afterall, you had no idea if Minho even felt the same way about you and Hyunjin was his best friend, maybe you had been looking too much into it.
But Hyunjin had been wrong.
Minho liked you, a hell of a lot.
So much that one night when Minho had driven a drunk Hyunjin home after a university party and tucked his friend to sleep, he couldn't hold himself back from coming up behind you in the kitchen where you had first met, snaking his arms around you from behind and whispering his feelings straight into your ear.
That night everything changed.
You agreed to keep your relationship a secret, meeting up out of town to not get caught by anyone you knew, or even worse Hyunjin. You stole kisses in between hangouts and sometimes Minho would sneak into your room while Hyunjin slept to 'wish you a proper good night' in his words.
Or like now for example.
Hyunjin had called Minho over for pre-drinks before they were hitting the town for the night.
Minho had said he needed to freshen up before he left, which wasn't a lie, but when he saw you walk past the bathroom in the oversized shirt he had bought for you and your pyjama shorts, he couldn't help but pull you in and shut the door.
Snapping you from your thoughts, Minho's fingers gripped the bottom of your chin turning your head so his eyes were once again on yours.
"What's going on in that pretty little head of yours?" He inquired walking his fingertips up to your temple where he playfully poked.
You let out a small giggle and rested your head back against the wall tiles to look at him better.
"Just us." You smiled back at him, bringing one of your hands up to play with the hem of his loose fitted tee.
He brought his hand back up to the wall, caging you in against it once more, knowing how it would effect you.
"I've been meaning to chat to Hyunjin about us actually." Minho expressed surprising you which you didn't care to mask from your reaction.
"Really?" You asked in delighted surprise.
You had been wanting to tell your brother about the secret relationship you had formed with Minho for the past few months, feeling the guilt eating away at you, but Minho would always talk you out of it.
Minho was scared to lose his best friend, knowing that your brother - no matter how much he didn't want to admit it - was extremely protective over you, and you weren't the only one who Hyunjin had lectured.
Therefore Minho was dead against telling Hyunjin, so to hear him now be completely on the other side of the fence was causing you to look a little untrusting toward Minho like he wasn't saying the whole truth.
"Well yeah, I mean I spend barely any time with you and all this sneaking around just feels wrong. I don't want our relationship to feel wrong." Minho continued and you were thankful to have Minho be transparent for once not hiding his emotions.
"But."
Ah, there it was. You should have seen this coming. You tried to hide your disappointment and held on to the hope this wasn't going down the path it usually did.
"We can't tell Hyunjin we've been together all this time." Minho said removing his hands from the wall, sensing your uncomfortableness with the topic shift.
You felt your heart squeeze tightly and not in the warmth explosion of happiness it normally did around Minho, instead it was a painful jab at the realisation that Minho would never want to share the truth to the world of exactly how you got together.
"You know what he's like y/n, more than I do. He will feel betrayed by not only you but even more so by me. He's my best friend I can't hurt him like that." Minho sighed taking a step back away from you, and you couldn't help but feel like he was also taking a step back from your relationship.
You suddenly felt small in front of Minho.
"I get what you're saying Minho.. but won't he react even worse when he eventually finds out we not only kept our secret from him, but we continued to lie about it? I can talk to him I'm sure-" You offered another perspective, reaching out to take one of his hands into yours, but Minho flinched from your touch upon hearing your words.
"I can't let you do that y/n. That would be even worse. I need to speak to him first." Minho said sternly in an exasperated tone. He seemed troubled by the conversation.
Minho had heard Hyunjin's footsteps before you and one of his fingers rose to cover your lips and the thoughts you were about to vocalise died on your breath as you closed your lips.
"Min?! You ready to go?" You heard Hyunjin call out from somewhere up the hallway outside of the bathroom.
Minho looked towards the door with a worried expression and then quickly turned back to you.
"Yeah almost ready." Minho yelled back while staring at you with pleading eyes.
He was begging you to let this conversation die for the meantime and that he would talk to you again later.
But when later? With both of you busy with your lives and your only free days having to work around Hyunjin not being around, the time you got to spend together was getting lesser and lesser.
As you stared into Minho's auburn eyes that used to fill your heart with a sense of belonging, like you could stare into them for eternity and never lose your place in the world, you begun to feel a sense of despair.
How long could you both keep pretending that this was going to work.
Minho waited until he heard the retreating footsteps further down the hallway and he reached up too gingerly tuck a stray strand of your hair behind your ear.
"One day kitten. Everything will be sorted and we will never have to hide how we feel for each other again." With that he gave you a simple peck to your cheek and withdrew from your space, picking up his discarded leather jacket on the bathroom cabinet.
You stayed, motionless, staring at the space in front of you that once held Minho.
"Be safe tonight." You spoke into the air quietly, unsure of what else to say.
Anything you did say would never fix things, you would still be his secret, you would still feel the guilt gnawing at your heartstrings from lying to your brother.
Minho left without another word.
You regretted not saying more while you had the chance.
You regretted stepping into a love that was doomed from the beginning.
There are no winners in love.
You either lost the trust your brother had in you to gain the love of a boy you couldn't live without, or you lost him to unburden the weight that living a lie had cascaded upon you.
Either way, you lose.

Idiots in Love - Han Jisung
Tumblr media
Han Jisung X FemReader
summary: the title says it all.
No warning? Not proof read.
"You're so cute."
"huh?"
"I said you look like a fruit."
"What in the world Han Jisung." yn laughed slapping his arms as she sat beside him on the sofa.
Saturdays were meant for the boys. That's what Han firmly believes in. But when his crush/ girl best friend/ situation ship calls him on the phone for 'emergency' purposes (which somehow involves watching a movie) the boys are no longer the priority.
"You still haven't told me why you called."
"You're trying to change the topic-"
"I'll leave your ass alone if you try to bully me."
yn couldn't help but grin snuggling closer to him, hands wrapped around his biceps and head on his shoulder. "I just wanted to see your stupid face."
"Excuse me- Stupid? I'm gorgeous." Han scoffed pretending to push her off. "Changbin was right bros before hoes. I Shouldn't have come to your aid."
"You know I know that you love hanging out with me." Yn said picking up the tv remote. "You love hanging out with me. And so do i. So here Rewatching Shrek for the- I don't even know how many times."
Han didn't argue as he stared at her. Yn had been one of his oldest friends. They met back in middle school and stuck together since. They've watched each other grow through their lowest and highest points.
And after everything, Han couldn't deny that he wanted them to be more than just friends. Friends don't hold each other most nights while sleeping. Friends don't look at each other the way he looked at yn.
But the problem was. He couldn't confess. He tried so many times over the years to subtly let yn know. But she never took the hint. It was like she wanted him to spell it out for her.
"You're thinking." Yn interrupted his train of thoughts.
"I am."
"It's kinda unusual since Chan does most of the thinking for us all."
Han said nothing continuing to stare at her. His lips curved up at the corner slightly. "I know." He said.
yn paused the movie turning back to him "Seriously Sungie, are you okay?" She asked. "You look lost."
Jisung sighed shaking his head turning around. This was another one of those moments when he wanted to confess. He was here at yn's house. She was in his arms. If he got rejected, then this would be over. He would lose yn. That was the only thing that stopped him from ever saying anything.
His feelings were not worth it. It was not worth it. He'd rather never confess than lose yn.
His bandmates seem to disagree. Specially Hyunjin. "Dude. I'm telling you. I get the vibe that yn likes you too. Go for it."
But Hyunjin was a hopeless romantic. And listening to his advice would be a bad decision for him.
"Jisung." Yn called out again.
"Nothing... I'm just tired from practice."
"You looked fine 20 min-"
"yn. Really it's nothing."
"It's not nothing if its bothering you."
"last night I was bothered thinking about the gold fish I lost when I was five. How will you say that it's not nothing?."
yn knew Han like that back of her hand. He always had a tough time vocalising his feelings. He always considered his thoughts as pointless. "You can tell me later. It's okay." She put her head back on his shoulder.
"I can't."
"Why?" She asked looking up at her. "Does it involve me somehow?"
Han nodded, kissing the top of her head. "It involves me? Wait... Are you actually sad cause I called you today..." Yn pulled back. "I know you were hanging out with the boys but I was just-"
"And they say I'm the overthinker." Han laughed. "I don't hate you yn. It's nothing... I just came up with some lyrics."
"Stop lying."
"What makes you think so?"
"You get crazy when you come up with a song. You're scrambling around for a piece of paper and pen. You have a look in your face." Yn said with a small shrug and Jisung couldn't help but smile.
"Do I?" He asked with a small laugh. He never expected her to notice so many details. "Are you like obsessed with me or something?" He joked pulling her towards him.
"You're making it weird Han."
"How am I making it weird?" He laughed. "I always hug my friends and kiss my homies goodnight."
"I hate you." Yn laughed along. "But in all seriousness. Are you okay?"
"I... Maybe. There's just a lot of things on my mind." Han said with a small shrug. "I don't know..."
"You're confused?"
"Kinda like that. I don't know how to deal with something. Like there's something I want to do. But I'm sacred."
"Being scared is for the losers." Yn laughed. I'm not the best person for advice but. If you want to do something. You should go ahead and do it. You'll have my support no matter what."
"What if it's something very stupid?"
"You're always doing something stu- I'M KIDDING!" She exclaimed when he tried to tickle her.
"And what if I say I like you?"
"I like you too what's the big deal?"
"No. What if I like like you?" He asked again this time turning around to face her fully.
"Hannie-"
"I like you yn. A lot. It's so hard for me to pretend I don't."
"Then... I'd say I like you too."
"I'm not joking yn."
"Han Jisung." Yn smiled. "I like you... Since we were in highschool when you took me to prom. You were always special to me... I just never thought you'd.... You'd like me back..." He voice got quite at the end.
"What- YN! I literally always call you cute. I always spend time with you- Everyone in our friend group knew that I liked you!"
"BUT YOU SAID I LOOK LIKE A SQUID AND YOU'D RATHER DATE SQUIDWARD!"
"YFN THAT WAS A JOKE!"
"HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW?!"
Han couldn't help but smile. "We're idiots." He laughed shaking his head. "Do you wanna be my idiot though?"
Yn grinned before pretending to think.
"Ynnie."
"Yes. I'd like that."
"Damn it was that easy? I now have a girlfriend?"
"You're such a loser. But my loser."

“I do.”
You smile at Minho as you are both pronounced married; your heart has never been more full. He giddily dips you back when he kisses you, making you forget the entire world around you. You don’t notice the tightness of your menacing designer high heels. You don’t hear the thunderous applause from all of your swooning guests. You don’t notice your best friend’s heart breaking while he claps louder than anyone else in the crowd.
Hyunjin watches as you marry the love of your life, looking like the radiant and joyful bride that he always knew you would be. He just never imagined you’d be someone else’s and not his. You were each other’s first loves, but that love couldn’t last on both ends, eventually fading away on yours. You cherish him as your best friend, not the man you loved so long ago, and that’s why he’s here. After all, he’d watched as you fell in love again, with someone better than him in every way. He’d listened as you giddily told him about Minho, assuming that time had healed all wounds. He’d congratulated you as you showed off your shimmering diamond ring, forgetting that once upon a time, you had told Hyunjin you would marry him.
The entire ceremony was stunning, especially the vows that you and Minho had handwritten for each other. There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. Except for Hyunjin’s, ironically. The night before, he’d left the rehearsal dinner early, faking a headache and getting stupid drunk in his hotel room. An hour later, he sat slumped next to the toilet bowl and cried his heart out until morning.
When the best man, Jisung, had banged on his door, reminding him to get off of the bathroom floor and get ready for the wedding he could not miss, he had looked into the mirror and promised himself that he would not shed one more tear. Not until tomorrow, because tomorrow, Hyunjin could lose it. But today, he will keep it together, for you. He will be happy for you, because this is the happiest day of your life. And he cannot ruin it.
You always wanted a beach wedding, and you finally have it, as you dance on the soft sand in your new husband’s arms. There are dainty festival lights strung up everywhere, and the mix of sweet music and the pleasant chatter is absolutely perfect. As you lean your head against Minho’s chest, serenely closing your eyes while he whispers sweet nothings into your ear, Hyunjin knows he can walk away.
So he does, wandering away from the reception and further along the beach, until he can’t hear the voices anymore. He finds a stray log washed up on the sand and sits on it, watching the sun slowly set. The hours pass, as the festivities go on and its lights twinkle in the distance, but Hyunjin stays there, quietly observing the roll of gentle waves.
The vibration of his watch snaps Hyunjin out of his reverie, signaling the end of the day. Midnight. Hyunjin lifts his head to look up at the moon, observing how even she had the stars in the sky to keep her company, unlike him. The pain is overwhelming, coming out of Hyunjin in a shattering sob. Finally, he lets the tears he has been holding back roll down his cheeks, uninhibited and raw.
Back at the party, you and Minho ask around if anyone has seen Hyunjin, both wanting to take photographs with him and preserve another beautiful moment of the day on paper. But Hyunjin will never forget what this day felt like, because today was the day that the love of his life was the happiest he had ever seen her. And that will be enough for him.

Tumblr media
» summary: you’d known hyunjin for most of your life, introduced as a friend of your brothers and quickly someone who cared for you. he was there as you grew up, driving you home from parties, getting you out of lectures from your parents, or checking on you when your brother couldn’t.
so when you’d asked the favor of renting his extra room for a year whilst you adjusted living in a new city for university, your brother didn’t even blink or question it.
maybe he should’ve.
» pairing: nonidol! hyunjin x reader ft. brother changbin (like barely though)
» rating: NC-17 which means under 18s do not interact
» genre: fluff, smut, angst, childhood friends, happy ending, porn with somewhat plot (backstory mostly)
» warnings: hyunjin is a fuckboy but also in love with you (pick one lmao), oral sex (f recieving), brief masturbation with toy, face riding, slight overstimulation, no condom in sight (do better), hyunjin is way above average in this, very soft hyunjin though, not super rough sex, hair pulling, spanking, reader is slightly younger (but legal), don't know if i forgot something cause it's 1 in the morning but let me know...
» words: 4,914
» a/n: originally, i planned for this to be a simple hyunjin is your roommate and you really wanna sleep with him oneshot but i decided to elaborate on it, sprinkle in some plot and add in one of my favourite tropes lmao, so enjoy x

You scraped your knee on the playground when you were four years old, and Hyunjin had been the one to hold your hand and find your brother with you whilst you tried to stop your tears. He’d tried to make you smile, to tell you it was fine because really, it was. Changbin was somewhere, you just didn’t know where.
Luckily, the two often came as one, even when you were little and the pair were only a couple years older than you. One was not far behind the other, and you knew if you found Hyunjin, you’d find Changbin not far behind.
Maybe when you were little, that small gesture of kindness as he took care of you was the start of the faintest crush you developed over time. It was never anything you acted upon, not consciously anyway, but maybe the back of your mind was very much aware of what you were doing.
The year he graduated was the year you started drinking. You were a young teen who didn’t know any better, but Hyunjin never judged you for it. When you couldn’t trust your brother to pick you up without a horrible lecture on why you shouldn’t be drinking or dressing like that, Hyunjin was the one to answer your calls at three in the morning and didn’t argue once about the early hours to come get you.
And maybe, really, it was a way to get his attention, though it was again something you never consciously thought about.
When your parents were screaming at you in the kitchen over the condoms found in your room one night, both Hyunjin and Changbin had stopped their game in the living room to come to your aid. Changbin never liked your parents to be raising their voice at either of you anyway, especially you, but it was Hyunjin that offered up the very valid point that yes, maybe you were having sex, but at least condoms were an indication that you were being careful.
Whilst they were still upset, they both realised the validity in his argument and backed off.
Over the years, he also seemed to only become more attractive with age. The girls loved him, it was obvious. You saw the looks and how easy it was for him to get a date to prom, or a valentine's day, or anything really, but you ignored it often. Your middle school was shared to his and your brother's highschool, and sometimes he’d pass you in the hall and greet you, maybe speak to you, but it often made you uneasy for you almost always felt the amount of eyes on him.
They weren’t directed towards you in a menacing way. You were quite a few years younger than him, so none of them saw you as a threat to them, but they were still staring, and that made you uncomfortable.
You knew what they saw you as. His best friend’s little sister that he looked after and ensured the safety of. Sometimes, it resulted in you making friends only to realise it was more to gain access to him. He was popular, and one time in particular, you’d been so upset and yelled at him for it, how much you hated what it did to your lack of friends, for most of the ones you’d made, only wanted you for the benefit of him being around.
Hyunjin had felt terrible, the minute you snapped on your sixteenth birthday. He’d come down from university specifically to see you, but the end result was the realisation that your closest friend had, like most people, only ever been interested in one thing.
Him.
Whilst you didn’t care that many girls liked him, having someone you considered your friend on your birthday prioritise him when he was there to see you, made you snap and see red. He’d felt so terrible that he drove home that same night, and it was the first and only time you’d seen him cry.
Of course you’d felt bad, but it took weeks for you to admit it and speak to him again. If it weren’t for Changbin, you aren’t sure you would’ve ever had the guts to reach out to him again.
Hyunjin loved you very much, but you never thought of it as a love that was any different from Changbin’s.
“You have everything then?”
You nod, giving Changbin a tight hug as he crushes you, making you yelp slightly as he lifts you off the ground, “I’ll miss you.”
“I’ll miss you too. It’s not a long drive though. You visit Hyunjin all the time. Now it’s just me and him.”
“I guess I should be grateful he’s letting you stay. You sure you don’t want me to drive you?”
“I’m sure.”
True to his word, you and Hyunjin had Changbin over at least once a month for weekend visits, the three of you finding things to do around the city in-between endless classes and piling schoolwork.
There was just one small detail that you failed to mention to your brother. A part of you figured he knew, but that he kept it unspoken for if he said it, it would be real, and he wouldn’t acknowledge that with his own sister in the apartment of his best friend.
And that’s that Hyunjin had sex.
A lot.
It didn’t really bother you much. Usually, Hyunjin was nice enough to wait for the hours you were out of house, but sometimes you’d catch on anyway, or you’d make the lovely mistake of coming home a little too early.
And out of the times you’d made the mistake of hearing way too much of what was happening, an idea had formed in Hyunjin’s head that was now almost a routine. A routine that worked so well, you were almost shamefully proud of how the two of you had perfected it.
The first time, Hyunjin came out of his bedroom with a frown, contradicting the fact that he’d been having fun just twenty minutes prior (yes, this was one of the times you’d by mistake come home too early), as he sulked, pouring himself a coffee and exclaiming that the girl wasn’t getting it.
Until she saw you, freaked out and hit him saying she couldn’t believe he had a fucking girlfriend.
That was the beginning of your little game. And it became incredibly addicting to play.
You’d been his girlfriend, fiance, and even wife at this point, just for the hell of it, scaring off any one night stand with effortless acting, making them all believe they were the other woman who’d just broken and shattered your heart into a million pieces.
That, and you got to slap Hyunjin a couple times for effect, and even when he would sometimes complain that you hit a little too enthusiastically, he let it slide for the favour you were doing him.
But you weren’t sure when that changed. You couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment your yelling and anger turned into actual resentment towards him for what he was doing with all these women. At least not at first. For some reason, you never managed to step back and think that maybe, deep down, you were jealous because you weren’t any of what you put up to be for these girls.
To him, you were a pawn that he used to play whenever he needed it.
Whilst you weren’t a virgin and even went through a rather wild phase not very long ago, you didn’t bring someone home often. When you did, Hyunjin would be nowhere to be found, and if he did find out, he never said a word about it. Unlike you who’d at the very least, judge each girl that came through the door, the man you lived with said nothing.
And now that you and Hyunjin had hit a bit of a wall in terms of communicating, it felt like you were living with a stranger that rarely even left his room, unless he had somewhere to go or he needed to eat.
Though even so, he always left you an extra plate of food when he cooked, or a note saying there was lunch in the fridge for you to take, or to stay hydrated.
There were always reminders around the house that he cared about you, until he ruined it when you’d hear a girl moaning his name.
“I’ll be home late,” you let out a hum in answer, letting him know you heard him but not saying much else. He sighs, slipping on his shoes as you catch a glance of his figure. His hair is recently dyed black, growing longer than you think he’s ever let it before, but it suits him well, “is that my shirt, by the way?”
“Be safe,” is all you answer back, ignoring that yes you are in just one of his t-shirts that you recently claimed as your own. You don’t see him nod, and he’s out the door before you can say anything else to him. It’s a boring evening, an early night of ignoring assignments whilst the rain drowns any other noise outside as it hits your window.
It’s calming really, and now that Hyunjin has left, you lie there on the couch in peace, eyes closed with the thought of a quick nap. It would do you good, and you’re gone before you know it.
A familiar hand touches your bare leg, feeling your soft skin and it makes you react easily, moving onto your back as the figure pushes himself between you. It’s hot, and his touch makes your breathing heavier, because you know the way his fingers hover over you is anything but innocent.
Your senses are only heightened when your thighs are pushed apart, realising you aren’t wearing any underwear as your shirt is lifted above your breasts, leaving you fully exposed to eyes you cannot see.
It’s when you open them that you’re back in your living room, alone, with only the rain more intense and a wetness clinging to your underwear that you don’t plan to ignore if you don’t have to. You bite your lower lip as you stand, ignoring the friction that’s making your body react as you slam your door shut and fall onto your bed.
Honestly, you were past the point of even caring if Hyunjin came home.
Hyunjin.
You ignored how his name brought you to be fully alert, blaming it on the fact that you were already turned on from whatever ridiculously simple dream you were having, and not even considering the possibility that it was anything but that.
You shuffle through your drawers to find your vibrator, relieved to hear it turn on despite not having charged it in a while (yes, you’d really become that boring), teasing your nipples over the oversized shirt you were wearing. They harden quickly under the light vibrations, making you let out a delightful moan as you adjust the way you lay down.
It’s not hard for you to reach an orgasm on your own. Usually, your mind would imagine what you wanted someone to do to you in that moment, and the rest would work on it’s own, so when those familiar hands returned from your dreams, you didn’t think anything of it.
When you pushed your underwear to one side, you didn’t think much of how his slender but long and delicate fingers teased your clit and made you want more, feeling the faintest knot in your stomach that would only grow as you got closer to your orgasm.
Who it was meant absolutely nothing to you, until the front door opened and everything shattered, for you knew why those hands were familiar.
They belonged to Hyunjin.
“I’m home!”
Just like that, the years of subconsciously fooling yourself into believing that you didn’t like Hyunjin were for nothing. The time spent sharing a place with him and hearing him fuck endless girls without it ever bothering you, was shattered not because it suddenly did frustrate you, but rather because you desperately wanted it to be your turn.
You wanted him to do all those things to you.
Changbin was going to kill you.
“Already?” you peak out from your room, having readjusted your underwear and pulled your shirt back over your thigh, wondering if you looked presentable enough but assuming you did.
“Yikes, did you have a nap?” He chuckles, enjoying the atmosphere of you speaking to him casually again, staring at you from the kitchen. He likes the way you look in his clothes, though your thighs being so exposed does something to him that he wishes it really didn’t.
“Why?”
“You just look a bit tired,” you shrug, coming out of your room to sit on the living room couch where you’d originally been. It doesn’t help to see Hyunjin’s long dark hair cling to his neck and forehead from the rain, the top of his shirt soaked and showing his collarbones, and you decide that maybe you can take a bit of a risk.
Worst case, it doesn’t work but you can play it off as not having thought of it, that it was accidental. Best case scenario, you’d be having sex with Hyunjin.
You lie there with your knees raised, feet planted to the couch, moving your legs in a swaying motion as if you’re simply lounging and preoccupying yourself with something. It’s effortless and unintentional, to occasionally have your legs spread when your knees move in opposite directions, the lace of your underwear revealing itself under what you’re wearing.
Hyunjin swears he doesn’t mean to look. He swears he was aiming to pour a glass of water on the kitchen counter, but he can’t look anywhere else but at you, eyes darkening at what you reveal to him.
“You should be careful you know,” he starts, coming over to you, pushing your feet away slightly so he can sit down. You push your legs apart and look at him, and he has to blink multiple times and force himself to stare at your face, “I can see your underwear when you do that.”
“Could’ve been the point,” and you make sure to say it in a way that it could be a joke if he wanted it to really be, but Hyunjin doesn’t. He wants it to be anything but, and it scares him.
“Fuck,” he groans, letting his head fall into his hands as he thinks of all the times Changbin had specifically told him to just leave you be. That you were off limits, with the only exception being if he really, really meant what he felt for you, “why do you do this to me?”
“Where’d you go anyway?”
“Friends wanted to play indoor golf,” but he’s disinterested in telling you, because all he can think of is the way you’re lying on the couch, beautiful and teasing him.
He doesn’t mean it when his large hand falls onto your left thigh, making you both stop as he rethinks what he’s done. Hyunjin is about to apologise profusely, but then he sees the look on your face, a curious one with a blush on your cheeks and a mischievousness that’s coaxing him on to do more.
It’s only confirmed when you push your knees apart just a little bit more, making his shirt rise on you and your underwear more visible, and he feels himself go weak and hungry for you. It’s as if every warning your brother ever told him doesn’t matter right now.
“Do you want me dead?” his voice is low, as if he’s threatening you but it has the opposite effect, and the man in front of you finally has the guts to move his hand further up, twisting his fingers between the thin band of your thong.
“Hyunjin,” he looks at you, surprised to hear his name from your lips, though he nods in response as you make him lean closer to you before you whisper, “I won’t tell him.”
And Hyunjin loses all resolve, the endless desire he has for you and has had for a while, crashing down into relentless waves as he kisses you. It’s desperate and needy, a messy kiss of tongue and teeth as he pulls you onto his lap, hands finding your ass cheeks as he pushes your shirt up, exposing your flesh to the naked cold air, “fuck.”
You feel him harden in his jeans, making you grin between kisses, though he retaliates with a sharp slap to your ass, making you moan, “don’t get smug with me.”
You’ve seen him dominant before, but not in private like this, and definitely not towards you. It only spurs you on, rolling your hips as he groans, gasping for air though you don’t ever want to stop kissing him.
“I’m going to do whatever I want to you,” you beg him yes between breaths, giving him the greenlight as he tugs at your underwear, chuckling lowly with his eyes so dark, they’re nearly black, “you’re drenched sweetheart.”
“And I can feel your cock on my ass, so you can’t say much,” and he guesses he can’t, but he can shut you up, growing impatient with the fact that your underwear isn’t on the floor yet.
“How much do you care about these?” He’s playing with the lace, and you wonder for a second before deciding that you don’t really. You had a lot nicer to be fair and they weren’t very expensive.
“Not muc-” you’re going to ask why, but Hyunjin has already ripped the lace in half, creating an opening as your juices coat his jeans where you sit on his lap.
“Hyunjin!” he smirks, and you can’t even deny how much his impatience turns you on. He really wants you.
“Whoops,” you sigh, feigning annoyance, though it’s replaced quickly with genuine surprise as he lays himself down on the couch, a throw pillow keeping his head slightly tilted to look at you, his hands digging into the flesh of your thighs as he admires the way the ripped lace exposes you to him.
You push your legs further apart, making him groan whilst you undo the buttons of his partially wet shirt, his lean and muscular chest coming into perfect view and your mouth waters seeing his abs and the faint v-line that disappears down to his cock.
“C’mere,” he gestures, and you start to lean forward slightly before he shakes his head, “all of you.”
He pushes his hands into your hips, trying to pull you to him as you move to sit on his stomach, a little unsure of his aim though realising quickly with a blush on your cheeks what he’s trying to do, “you know where I want you, don’t pretend you don’t.”
And as if you weigh nothing, he’s forcefully pushed your body further forward, making you adjust as your thighs now rest right by his face. His eyes stare up into your own, and you swear you may cum just with the sight underneath you.
You whimper pathetically when Hyunjin’s tongue runs up along your thigh and to your throbbing pussy, your whole body shaking as he groans, his eyes closing in pleasure the moment he gets to taste you. Your hips move on their own accord, making him dig his hands down and pin you with the strength of his arms into one place, teasing your clit between his tongue, lapping at your juices as you cry out.
You desperately want to move, to force his tongue to be rougher but he’s strong and has you pinned in place, powerless despite being above him.
“F-fuck. Hyunjin,” he groans again, sending another round of vibrations through you and you swear you’ll lose all reserve, and he releases his hold on you, his hands going back to your ass cheeks, guiding your pussy over his eager tongue, “I want to c-cum. P-please.”
He knows exactly how to set you off, teasing the little bud of flesh with his mouth expertly, like he’s studied you before even though he never had. His eyes re-open and he’s staring right back into yours, and you know the look he gives you is his way of telling you that you can.
You can’t contain the scream of pleasure you release the moment he brings you the release you’d needed, your thighs pushing together desperately and you worry briefly that you may hurt him, though the sound he makes as you push yourself down onto his tongue seems to say the opposite.
He chases after you with his lips when you push your body up to give him room, making you whimper pathetically as he seeks out to stimulate you, grinning when you let him. It nearly brings you to tears, making you shake and quiver as he teases your entrance with one of his fingers.
“You’re worse than a drug,” his chest is moving heavily under you, hair a complete mess and he looks completely spent. It’s incredibly sexy, to see him like this, his full lips glistening as he stares up at you with half lidded eyes, teasing you with his fingers.
“You’re one to say,” he chuckles, watching you close for any sign of discomfort as he pushes his index finger inside you, your walls tight and wet, refusing to let go of him.
“Please fuck me,” you’re desperate and you both know it, and the man under you doesn’t waste time, circling another finger at your entrance before slipping it inside, fingering you open slowly and carefully.
“Believe me, I’m going to,” but he knows better than you that he can’t rush it. He’s well aware that he was rather gifted in regards to size whereas you didn’t, and the last thing he wanted out of this was to cause you any sort of pain, “ride me?”
You nearly make a joke about it, that he seems awfully eager to have you on top of him all the time, but you refrain and agree, standing with weak legs to get his jeans off him, “and take my shirt off.”
“You’re fucking demanding,” you snide back, though a rough smack to your thigh in retaliation has you doing as he says. His gaze is intense, nearly making you want to cover up as he admires you, licking his lips while you work on taking off his last piece of clothing.
Suddenly the loud moans from his room from all those girls made perfect sense. Hyunjin easily had the biggest cock you’d ever seen outside a porno, long and perfectly thick, making your pussy clench, and you didn’t want to waste anymore time wondering what it’d feel like for him to fuck you.
“You finished standing there?” he’s pushing you back onto him and you obey, your body practically begging for him, “wait, wait-”
“What?” you wonder, confused as you stare at him.
“Condom?”
You’d always used one. Never had it slipped your mind like this, but you knew if Hyunjin hadn’t brought it up, it would’ve completely gone over your head.
He was dangerous for your mind.
“I have an implant,” it was true, though even so, you knew if it wasn’t Hyunjin, you’d never be so lenient with this.
“Are you sure?” Hyunjin seems worried, and you sense it too with the way he trails patterns on the skin of your hipbones.
“You won’t get me pregna-”
“That’s not why I ask,” you frown, tilting your head slightly to the side in confusion as you watch him, “I want to know you’re really okay with this.”
If you’d had any doubts before, they all evaporate now when his kindness seeps through, the Hyunjin that always looked out for you and made sure you were okay, “I’m really okay with it.”
He nods, letting you adjust above him as you take his cock into your hand, making him inhale sharply, the head teasing your wet entrance as he holds you steady. Your nerves hit you all at once, pushing your body down as you feel his cock penetrate you inch by inch, opening you up and leaving behind a slight sharp sting as your try to adjust.
You whimper as he hits a deep spot inside you, one that most guys you’d been with, only grazed when they bottomed out, but you were still sinking yourself down on him and past that point. It excited you and both left you nervous, to know what it would feel like when he’d start moving.
“Okay?” he asks, breath heavy and voice low as you nodded. It was painful, to feel your tight walls around him and knowing he couldn’t move yet, so he focused on the way your face seemed taken with pleasure instead.
“Fuck,” you lean forward, your hands flat on his chest to steady yourself as you gyrate your hips, slowly adjusting to him. Hyunjin watches you, his hands back on your ass as you begin to raise and lower yourself on his cock, slowly first before beginning to move faster.
He watches the way his cock disappears inside you over and over as you move faster, the sound of slapping skin taking over his senses as he groans, hearing you moan his name. He never wants to forget the image of you fucking yourself on his cock, faster and faster as you steady yourself on his chest, your breasts bouncing in front of him as your ass stays squeezed beneath his hands.
Hyunjin can’t help himself when he slaps the skin on your backside again, making you whimper and ride him faster, a smirk on his lips, “you like that?”
“Y-yes,” he does it again, a little harder and you sound so beautiful to him, it’s almost natural for him to react and do it again, “you can go faster, princess. I know you can.”
He’s urging you on and you just really want to please him, especially when he calls you by that nickname, but he gets an even better idea midway through, “let me try something?”
You follow him blindly, mewling when his cock slips out of you and he sits up, back against the couch as he pulls you onto his lap, facing away from him. He spreads your legs, lifting you up as his cock teases your entrance, back inside you far more easily now as you’ve adjusted to his size. The slight shift in angle does wonders, making you cry out pathetically as you ride him again.
“Good girl,” he meets your thrusts halfway, hips snapping up into you as you turn into a mess, feeling him tease your nipples with one of his hands from behind, the other binding your hair into a makeshift ponytail as he yanks your head back, making you rest it against his shoulder. There’s a slight sting when he does it, but it’s mixed with so much pleasure that you try to move faster, “I want you to cum.”
You go to speak but your throat is dried up, feeling his mouth nip at your shoulder, while the hand he had teasing your breasts moves to your clit. The other is still firmly pulling your head back, making your body arch as he fucks into you, and all that combined with the way his cock moves inside you makes you scream.
“Fuck! Hyunjin! H-hyunjin! Yes!” Hearing you scream his name loud enough for his neighbours to hear sets him over the edge, feeling you clench around him as your body stills before shaking into orgasm, convulsing around him as your walls tighten on his cock, making his eyes roll back as he releases the grip on your hair and spills his seed inside you with a moan.
“G-god,” he’s panting heavily, leaning back on the couch with you still on top of him, still shaking after the ecstasy he’d brought you. His finger ghosts over your clit and your entire body responds, making him groan again as you mewl from the stimulation, “you feel so good wrapped around my cock.”
“Fuck, y-you can’t say that,” you chuckle, looking back at him, your eyes glazed in post orgasm as he slowly lifts you and lays you next to him. He stays there for a minute to admire you, smiling at you with a tender gaze that makes your heart flutter, and he doesn’t know what suddenly takes over him when he says the next words.
“I hope you know I’m hopelessly in love with you,” but you didn’t know. At least not in the way he now meant, even if him saying it seems to make perfect sense to you, “only you.”
“Hyunjin-” the bell rings, catching your attention as you realise someone’s rung your apartment door from downstairs, the two of you sharing a look as Hyunjin moves first, making his way to the phone on the wall connected to the building.
“Hello?”
And it’s to your absolute horror that you hear your brother's voice, completely unaware to announce that he’s here.
You’d completely forgot the date on the calendar that hung on the side of the fridge, marking a very clear arrival of a certain relative for his monthly visit.
You share a look with Hyunjin, a knowing glance where you don’t need to exchange words to say what you were both thinking.
“I’m going to get murdered.”
Tumblr media
ALRIGHT well that went a lot softer than i'd planned for hyunjin but i'll be putting him through hell quite soon in some of my other work so he did deserve something nicer...
anyway, i appreciate any feedback or comments x and i hope it was an alright story to read x

Drained
Summary: after a rough therapy session, your two best friends give you all the comfort you need (IM SHIT AT SUMMARIES IM SORRY)
Do not walk RUN over to @felixmainacc @felixburneracc page NOW! I requested this fic and T sent me this! Love love love you dude!😁
Pairings: HyunBin x Reader 🦙 🐰 🐷
Relationship: Platonic 🫶🏽
Genre: hurt/comfort ❤️‍🩹
Today was a rough one, This session took so much out of you, and you didn’t think you could handle anything else today. After therapy today, you just sat there staring at a black screen with tears threatening to spill from your eyes. Your heart ached more than it has in a while. You were snapped out of your trance when you heard your front door handle jiggling. “GREAT,” you thought to yourself, “now I'm fucking getting robbed?” You had nothing left, so when the door swung open, and Changbin and Hyunjin came tumbling in full of laughter, you were kind of relieved. They crept around the corner, looking for you, and when they found you sitting there looking a little sickly, they began to get concerned. The lively boys looked at each other before looking back at you.
“Y/n, What’s going on, bug? You okay?” The dancer carefully approached you, dropping down to be at eye level with you. Your glossy eyes looked at him, and he saw you were hurting, and he wanted nothing more than to take it away. He had realized today was therapy day, and he grew more understanding of your current mood, so he didn't ask many more questions; he just pulled you closer to him and held you tightly. Binnie came back to where you two were with a blanket and some snacks. “Hey baby, it's okay. We’re here for you, all right. Would you like to watch movies and cuddle today?” You had forgotten that you had plans to go out for a picnic today, but this was just as good. You three cuddled up and watched different movies. They were so sweet with you, grabbing whatever you needed and holding you while you cried, kissing your temple. You needed them more than you had thought, and you were happy that they came to your aid without you even having to ask. They were your best friends, and if you weren’t crying because of the day you just had, you were crying because you were so thankful for them and their love and kindness.

- therapy best friends - listening to each other vent all the time - you’re the first person he goes to when he’s struggling and vice versa - you’ve developed such an immense amount of trust between the two of you like it’s crazy - if one of you shares a secret, that secret is not leaving the pair of you EVER - he cares about the people close to him so much and you’re no exception - remembers everything about you - favorite ice cream flavor, go-to drink order, every story you’ve told him—everything - in turn, he’s the BEST gift giver - you’ll mention wanting something in passing six months before your birthday and he’ll remember and get it for you - definitely one to write you long birthday cards about how much you mean to him - “what would i do without you?” - chan, all the time - he always texts you about whatever cool thing he saw - of course, he’s clingy - hugging you 24/7  - you two have definitely taken multiple naps together just cuddling - heals the soul - also asks you about your opinion on every song he produces because he wants to know what you think, even if you know nothing about music production - platonic soulmates 100%
minho
- people who see you guys for the first time think you hate each other - but that’s just your friendship - lighthearted insults and poking fun at each other  - but you have so much love between you two - he thinks you’re the best person in the world - you share every thought with him and vice versa - you know the other better then they know themselves - he’s not one for verbal affection but once he wrote you a letter about how much he appreciated you and you cried - he has a list of all the cool places he wants to take you - you’re also the kind of best friends who could go months without talking and when you finally see each other, it’s like nothing has changed - not that minho would leave you alone for months - no, he’s texting you “hey look at this cat” all the time - he loves you too much to not be in contact with you every second that he can
changbin
- you do EVERYTHING together - changbin loves having company and you will be the company - whether you’re going to a fun amusement park or literally just to the grocery store, changbin will come with you - you’re a package deal - spending almost every waking minute together does bring two people closer  - if you’re the kind of person that hates ordering or talking to strangers, changbin will do all of that for you with no issue - he’s very considerate when it comes to you - will be one to be like “did you sleep well?” and “have you eaten yet?” and if you say no he calls you stupid - he looks after you a lot, sometimes without realizing - just wants to make sure his best friend is healthy and happy - he definitely feels like your younger brother, you guys have a sibling relationship - poking fun at each other every now and then but having lots of love - comes to you 24/7 with “hey hey listen to these lyrics i just wrote”
hyunjin
- you two are in you’re own little world sometimes - going to art museums and sharing earbuds while talking in low voices to each other—fully just living life in one another’s company - it’s a good time - he loves telling you about his interests and you love listening and watching his eyes light up - he also just has so much??? love????? for you?????? - like he adores you and will hype you up all the time - brings you up in every conversation - you guys take so much photos of each other everywhere you go like you could make a giant photo album - he likes cherishing memories with you - and when you’re not together, he’s texting you every second about what just happened in his life and sending photos from wherever he is - you’re the first person he comes to when something's on his mind - cherishes your opinion
jisung
- certified idiots - you guys are just loud whenever you get in range of each other - everyone’s rolling their eyes at you when you two get going - world’s best comedy duo - but you know how to be serious and talk about some really deep emotional things - you’d trust each other with the biggest secret you have - you’re just so so close - honestly he feels like an extension of you and you of him - you two feel more complete when you’re together - everything is better when you’re with your best friend - sharing plates at dinners, trying new ice cream shops, walking in the park at night, spending early mornings at the studio listening to jisung mumble new lyrics for a song - enjoyment increases by 1000000% - no two people seem more made for each other than you two do - sorry if you get a partner one day, they might have to fight jisung to be your #1 priority
felix
- are you really best friends if the whole world doesn’t think you’re dating? - your relatives ask you if he’s your boyfriend every year - it’s only because you seem to spend every waking minute together doing everything and you’re attached at the hip and felix can’t keep his arm off your shoulders and you know everything about each other and you’d die for each other - the best best friends - you’ve developed some kind of secret language - when you two really get going, absolutely no one else can understand you - like you’re just making references and giving each other looks and you’re having a whole conversation that only makes sense to you two - he’s the kind to pick up something for you wherever he goes - your favorite candy at a convenience store, a souvenir when he travels, a small accessory when shopping - you’re on his mind all the time
seungmin
- such a comfy friendship - countless late nights spent watching whatever show and sharing snacks - the type of best friends to sit in the same room in silence for HOURS just doing your separate things - then he just goes “you wanna get food?” - and you go get food - quality time is the love language of your friendship - you’ll spend the whole weekend glued together going anywhere and doing anything - you’re too familiar with the quirks and eccentrics of seungmin - you’ll bring him up to other people and they’ll go “seungmin seems so quiet and calm” - and you’re just like ??????? - not your seungmin - he can be a little shit at times (a lot of the time) and you’ll be THIS close to throttling him and then he smiles and you’re like FINE i love u again
jeongin
- he uses his charms for evil - “y/n will you do me a favor...?” with the most heart-warming smile ever - of course you’re saying yes - king of acts of service - washing your dishes, doing your busy work, paying for you - and when you notice and thank him he denies it - you’ll mention that you really like this one sweater of his and the next day it’s on your bed in a gift bag - always ready and willing to give you fashion advice, even if you didn’t ask for it - “don’t wear that it doesn’t go with your shoes” - “i literally didn’t ask” - but you listen anyways - you trust that he’ll be honest with you no matter what so you come to him all the time for an opinion on something - when he’s upset or frustrated, you’re the one he confides in - you just get each other so well

Genre: best friend to lovers au, business au, angst, fluff.

Warnings: language, crying, desperation, unreciprocated feelings(?), talk of finance, smitten Hyunjin, Hyunjin is going through it, arguing, clueless reader, best friends, kissing, implications of smut, anxiety, alcohol, anger, regret.
A/n: I know the spacing is weird and annoying in this story, but I’m too tired to fix it. enjoy :,)
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
You yearned for him every second of the day.
You longed for the ghost of his fingertips, the sound of his laugh, the curl of his lips, even the wetness of his tears.
You loved him, but not in the way he wanted you to.
No, you longed for him as your best friend, and you loved him as such.
But for the boy, it wasn’t enough, because for him, he loved you in such a different way. A way that you might never reciprocate, but still, his feelings only grew and grew.
He yearned for you every second of the day.
He longed for the ghost of your fingertips, the sound of your laugh, the curl of your lips, even the wetness of your tears.
He loved you, he loved you more then the number of stars scattered across the night sky. He loved you as more then a best friend, and he always would.
He had fallen— no, he had crashed into you, his heart burning with a painful passion.
He could never look at someone the way he looked at you. And perhaps it was lucky, or maybe unlucky, that everyone around the two of you saw it.
Except you.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“Hyunjin, when are we leaving?” You called out for the boy, fingers fiddling with your mascara brush.
“Soon, are you almost ready?” He called from the other room.
“Yeah, you?”
Hyunjin didn’t answer for a moment. “Ah, almost.” He replied after a pause.
Your hand stilled, gaze tilting towards the doorframe suspiciously. “Okay… good.” You said, shaking your head softly as you turned back to the mirror.
Once you were content with your appearance, you leaned back, smiling fondly. Your hands fiddled with the mascara stick, pushing it back into it’s container. You hummed, delicately setting the makeup tool down.
“I’m ready.” You called out, voice echoing in the quiet house.
“Aish—“ You heard a thump and a startled curse.
“Hyunjin?” You blinked, walking out of the restroom.
“Hold on!” He said immediately, the lock on his door clicking.
You scrunched your nose, foot tapping against the ground.
What you didn’t know, was that on the other side of Hyunjin’s door, was a nervous, panicking mess. He had never felt so worried or unsure. His mind was filled of images of you. Of your smile, of your frown, of your eyes, nose, lips, hair. Of everything.
Then again, it wasn’t unusual for him, you were always on his mind. But now, after he had finally managed to get you to come on an, albeit fake, date with him, everything felt that much more serious.
So while you were staring at his door, he was leaning against it, slender fingers tugging on the tie around his neck. While you were raising your brows at the lock, Hyunjin was praying to god you walked away.
So when he heard your footsteps retreat, he couldn’t help but release a breath.
Hwang Hyunjin was stupidly, indescribably, completely in love with you. His very best friend. But he would never let you know, because to him, your friendship was worth a thousand romances.
Hyunjin was strange, he really was. He was the son of a rich businessman, and next in line for the company’s throne. Yet he was gentle, sweet, creative, and oh-so talented. He was shy, yet somehow the most dramatic person you’d ever know if he opened up to you. Nothing like how you would have imagined a boy of his class to be.
You often helped Hyunjin get ready for various events his father requested he attend, and tonight was no different.
Well, except for the fact that you too, would be attending.
As Hyunjin’s date.
It was strange, really. It only happened because of a certain chain of events that left Hyunjin needing a date to bring to this specific event. That date being you. And so, you became the date he would be bringing to every event he would attend in the foreseeable future. Unfortunately.
In fact, the boy had no other choice. It was either fake a relationship with you, his best friend, or get married to a random girl that was the daughter of one of his father’s business partners.
Now, Hyunjin had gone on many, many dates that his father had set up. But the older man had never forced him to see any of the girls again. That is, until the last date.
Shin Ryunjin was her name.
And she was absolutely perfect. She was stunning, intelligent, and spoke her mind.
But Hyunjin wanted nothing to do with her. Not romantically, at least. He had told Ryunjin this, to which she said it was completely okay. However, Hyunjin and Ryunjin’s fathers wouldn’t let it go.
No, no.
Those two were meant to be, as the businessmen often claimed. And so, a marriage was announced.
That’s when Hyunjin drew the line, coming up with possibly, the worst, most see-through lie you had ever heard.
“I can’t marry Ryunjin, father. I’m in love with someone else.”
And that bastard, that cheeky, annoying bastard just had to make things worse.
“Who?” His father had asked.
“Y/n.” Hyunjin had replied.
Damn that boy. Dragging you into his mess.
It was more complex then that, but the details didn’t matter at this point. What mattered was the fact that Hyunjin’s father, the man who practically saw you as his daughter, had been absolutely ecstatic about the fib Hyunjin told.
So much so, that he had almost immediately called off the wedding and told Hyunjin to bring you to the business party he was throwing Friday night.
Of course, you had gotten many texts from Mr. Hwang, all of which confused you. Until you asked Hyunjin, then it made sense.
Hyunjin would never, ever admit it, but he was excited to take you with him. He would also never admit that he had planned this whole ordeal out with Ryunjin, who was more then happy to help the young man chase after you.
You had argued for hours, you saying you had school you had to attend, him saying the party was after school hours and that it was a one time thing, at least until he could figure something else out. He didn’t want to figure something else out.
You saying the thought of even fake dating him was disgusting, him saying you were being dramatic. He was hurt by your words, but didn’t say anything about it.
You saying his father would never believe it, him saying his father was already smitten with the idea. As was he, but you didn’t need to know that.
It went back and forth, back and forth. Until finally, you agreed. Hyunjin had promised to buy you an outfit, as he knew you couldn’t afford something to wear to such a party.
You had been pissed for days, hell, you still were. Except now, you had to own up to you decision of agreeing to accompany Hyunjin.
So, that’s what you were doing.
Getting ready in Hyunjin’s large house, wearing a ridiculously expensive dress, and having your hair and makeup professionally done. Of course, you had fixed the mascara, for the makeup artist had put it on much too thick for your personal preference.
You decided to leave the boy alone, figuring the two of you would already be getting on each other’s nerves tonight.
So, instead of walking towards Hyunjin’s room and shaking the handle as you usually would just to annoy the boy, you opted to make your way back across the hall into the bathroom.
You had been in Hyunjin’s house plenty of times. It wasn’t exactly a mansion, but it was big, that was for sure. Hyunjin used to have his room on the far right side of the house, but he switched rooms for you. Specifically, he switched for a room with a bathroom inside, and another bathroom across the hall. When you spent the night at his house, you refused to use the same restroom as him. Hyunjin was clean and neat usually, but it seemed like in the restroom, he lost all care.
Hyunjin didn’t mind, if switching his room meant you’d stay over more often, he’d have switched in a heartbeat.
You made sure to check your appearance one more time, but nothing was out of place. So you walked out of the bathroom again.
“Hyunjin, I’m going downstairs.” You told the boy, who was still locked in his room.
“Alright, I’ll be down soon.” He responded.
You checked the watch that was on your wrist, nodding to yourself. “I hope so, we gotta go soon. It’s almost 6pm.”
No answer.
You simply shrugged to yourself, arms swinging by your side as you made your way down the stairs, shoulders slumping.
Did Hyunjin really have to say yo ur name specifically? He could’ve said anybody’s name, but no, the jerk picked your life to shake up.
He already knew you liked someone else, perhaps the word like was too little.
Maybe you loved the freckled boy, with his deep voice and sweet accent. Or maybe, you were infatuated with him. But it had been years, years since Lee Felix had captured your attention, taking your heart with it.
You had met Felix at one of Hyunjin’s birthday parties when you were young.
Actually, you had met all the boys at that same party. Discounting Jeongin and Seungmin, for they had entered your lives later.
But never mind that, because Felix was there.
You remember when you first saw him, nervous and clinging to his mother’s hand, his sweet, brown eyes locked on his feet. He looked so precious, and even you, a 6 year old little girl, realized that you wanted to be near him.
So when you approached him, a bubbly smile on your lips, Felix couldn’t help but reciprocate the curl of your mouth.
And when you sweetly grabbed his hand, dragging him over to the bouncy house, Hyunjin, little Hyunjin, couldn’t help but feel a tightness in his chest.
Before, Hyunjin had seen you as a best friend, but that day, on his birthday, something changed. He had encouraged you to befriend the shy boy when he walked through the door, but now that you had, now that your hand was gripping his instead of Hyunjin’s, it made him uneasy.
Even at his young age of 8, Hyunjin didn’t like the feeling he got when you looked at Felix. And he didn’t know it yet, but that feeling was jealousy, and it was seeping into his veins. That was the day Hyunjin’s heart realized,
it loved you. Hyunjin loved you.
Hyunjin sat on his bed now, gripping his sheets tightly. He couldn’t mess up his hair, nor his light makeup now.
He wanted to cry. He had made a mistake and he knew the moment he saw you, all dolled up, all for him, he would never, ever be able to climb his way out of the hole he had dug himself into.
He was fucked.
You hummed a song to yourself as you waited in the kitchen, leaning against the large island lazily. The shock of Hyunjin’s riches were far less relevant after all these years. You had known Hyunjin since you were born, and he was 2. Your mothers had been high school friends, and had only grown closer over the years. So, the two of you were practically raised side by side.
Both of your mothers didn’t come from rich families, but Hyunjin’s father fell for his mother anyways. Your father was from an upper class family, so his marriage to your mother was less shocking then the Hwang’s, considering Mr. Hwang was the heir of the family business when he was young.
Perhaps it was because Hyunjin’s mother was, and is beautiful. It wouldn’t surprise you if Mr. Hwang fell for her beauty, along with her charming personality.
Hyunjin was a lot like his mother. He was sweet, gentle, and artistic, but if needed, he could turn cold and stern. He also retained her beauty, along with his father’s good looks. He was similar to Mr. Hwang also. He was good with people, and drew almost everybody in. He was the perfect mix of the couple.
Your fingers tapped at your phone screen, mind swaying as you scrolled through your phone. When you checked your watch again, it was 5:56pm.
You groaned. “Hyunjin!”
You waited for an answer, which came in the form of the boy’s footsteps as he hurried down the stairs.
When you saw him walk into the kitchen, you couldn’t really say you were surprised. Hyunjin was handsome, even you couldn’t refuse that. He had on a crimson colored suit, tailored perfectly to his slender body. His shoes were plain, black dress shoes. His hair was styled beautifully, his silky curtain bangs framing his sculptured face nicely. The rest of it curved against his neck. His pretty hands were adorned with a few rings, small earrings dangling from his ears. His makeup was light, accentuating his eyes and lips, along with shaping his nose.
It really was cruel, how beautiful he was.
A soft smile spread across your lips, eyes curving into the little crescents that Hyunjin loved so dearly.
“You clean up nicely, Jinnie.” You complimented with a playful laugh.
He sucked in a gulp of air, breath hitching.
Often times, Hyunjin found you the most beautiful when you were far from fancied up. He found the way your messy hair would fall over your eyes as you tried to complete a math problem, or the way you kicked your legs up when you were on his bed, either reading, writing, or talking to him, beautiful. Or when you took off your makeup and grinned stupidly at him as you sat beside him to watch a movie, or even when you were yelling at him to give you the last bite of food. He found you beautiful in simple moments like that, when you were truly, fully yourself.
But here, now, looking at you in a dress that matched his suit, with your hair and makeup done up, all for him? You were breathtaking. The crimson dress went to your knees, the top was made of thick, crisscrossed sleeves that wound their way around your waist. They were off your shoulders, covering your upper arms only. There was a small zip in the back, one that the stylist had most likely helped you with. You were wearing a beautiful white choker-like necklace and white earrings to match. You also had on a couple white bracelets to match the necklace, and your shoes were black heels.
Your words hardly registered in his head, and he could tell by the way your eyebrows were slightly raised, that you had caught him staring.
“Oh, thank you. So do you, y/n.” He managed to say seriously, but of course, you knew something was up.
“What’s wrong? Starting to regret your choices, are we?” You just loved teasing him, didn’t you?
You smiled, walking forwards and poking his chest with your pointer finger as you watched him expectantly. He swallowed.
“Aish, don’t touch the suit! It’s ironed.” He made up a quick escape, backing away from you as he dramatically looked down at his chest. You tilted your head, watching him carefully, before you snorted.
“Oh no, I’m sorry, sir.”
Hyunjin shuffled. “It’s your fault for dragging me into this, you know.” Your mood changed to irritation at the memory of why you were even with the boy right now in the first place. “I don’t even know how to act. What if I fall over?” You gasped, covering your mouth with your hand.
You shuddered at the thought. “Do I look good? Will I fit in?” You started to panic.
Hyunjin smirked at you, carefully placing his hands on your bare shoulders. “Yah, your hands are hot.” You complained. “You’ll leave sweat marks on me.”
“Y/n!” He snatched his hands away from you, making you burst into laughter and double over.
“Quit it, you’ll ruin the dress.” He snapped, crossing his arms and popping his hip out.
You looked up at him from your bent position, scoffing as you struggled to stifle your laughter. You stood up, fanning your face. “God Jinnie, you’re funny.”
Hyunjin deadpanned. “I liked the freaking out you better, bring her back.”
You rolled your eyes, punching the boy’s shoulder lightly. He grunted, rubbing his shoulder with a pout.
You beamed at him for a moment, then lifted your arm to gaze at your watch.
“Fuck— Hyunjin! It’s 6:11. We’re gonna be late!” And just like that, your panicked self was back, just as the boy had requested. Hyunjin blinked, snatching your arm. His eyes widened as he looked at the time on your watch. It really was 6:11pm. “Shit, let’s go. My dad will kill us if we’re late.”
Hyunjin hurried towards the front door, opening it for you when you followed him. “Uh, no. Your dad is gonna kill you, if we’re late. I won’t let you drag me further into your mess.” You proclaimed, quickly shuffling out of the door.
Hyunjin slouched. You were right.
He shut the door behind you both, walking after you as you approached the limo.
It was going to be a long night.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“Y/n! Stop it.” Hyunjin scolded.
You curled your lips. “Jinnie, please? I just want one!” You held up your hands, one finger sticking up desperately.
Hyunjin really did try to say no to you, but how could he when you were looking at him like that?
He groaned in exasperation, nodding. “Only one.”
You smiled at the boy, who was already looking tired of you. Your shoulders shook lightly as you laughed, playfully punching Hyunjin’s shoulder for the second time tonight.
Hyunjin glanced towards you, shaking his head. “You’ll be the death of me.” He complained.
“Mm.” You hummed, taking a sip of the singular wine glass Hyunjin allowed you to drink. “Maybe, but you love me anyways.”
Hyunjin leaned about against the limo’s seat, legs crossed gracefully over one another. He did love you, even if you drove him mad sometimes. That was true, just not how you thought it was.
“We’ll be there soon. I don’t wanna say this, but chug.” Hyunjin said with a side-smile.
You peered towards the boy, running your fingers around the rim of the glass. “Chug?” You inquired, to which he nodded. A smile of your own spread across your lips as you lifted the glass to your lips and began to quickly drink the alcohol within it.
Hyunjin watched you carefully, fingers on his neck as he turned his head towards you, gaze locked on your lips and the way your neck moved each swallow. He shuddered, adverting his gaze out of the window instead. Once you were finished, you put the, now empty, glass back into the wine-cup holder Hyunjin’s father had installed in the limo. You checked the camera on your phone, making sure you hadn’t messed up your makeup. Thankfully, you hadn’t.
You felt the limo come to a stop, as did Hyunjin. “I’ll open the door for you, don’t get out until I do.”
“Why?” You cringed, tapping your foot.
Hyunjin glared at you, hoping you wouldn’t be stubborn about this. “It’ll make everything more realistic, just follow my lead, please? I know better then you.”
“For once.” You mumbled.
Hyunjin’s head whipped towards you. “Yah!” He exclaimed. You giggled. “I’m kidding, Jinnie. Hurry up though, my back hurts.”
“You’re like an old lady.” He huffed.
“Don’t disrespect your elders!” You scolded. Hyunjin rolled his eyes. “I’m older then you.”
“Not me! The actual old ladies out there.” You said.
Hyunjin just grunted and opened his door, stepping out with a sly smile.
You huffed, slumping against the seat as you crossed your arms.
Soon, your door opened, Hyunjin’s hand waiting for yours. He watched you carefully, eyes calculating as he bent into the car. You grabbed his hand. It was normal. You always held the boy’s hand, but something told you this time, it was different.
He gave you a gentle smile, one that definitely helped to calm the nerves that were currently crawling up your spine.
You stepped out of the limo, hand in hand with him. Camera flashes startled you, your grasp on his hand tightening. Why were there photographers?
You winced as you stood to your full height beside Hyunjin. “Take deep breaths, it’s okay. This is normal, people get nosy at big business parties.” The boy whispered sweetly into your ear, giving your hand a reassuring squeeze. You stared at him for a moment, slowly allowing your shoulders to relax.
Hyunjin wondered what kind of photos the paparazzi would be getting. Did the two of you look like you were in love? Hand in hand, staring at each other silently. Hyunjin was sure, at least, it would look like he was in love. Probably because he was. But you, you looked at him like a big brother, someone to curl into when scared. And there he was, staring at you like you were his whole world. Would they be able to differentiate the looks you two shared? Yours of a loving friend, and his as something more?
Somewhere, deep in his chest, he hoped they wouldn’t. Because he wanted, more then anything, for you to seem in love with him. He wanted to find the pictures that would soon be online, and he wanted to keep them forever. Because maybe, just maybe, it would seem like you were looking at him the same way he was looking at you.
Just once.
When you looked away from him, a nervous smile graced our face. Hyunjin watched you for a few, fleeting moments, before he tore his eyes away from your side profile.
He moved forwards, you following close on his heels. He couldn’t help but laugh at you, following him around like a little puppy. You glared at him as he looked back at you, which simply made his smile grow more. At that, you couldn’t help but grin sheepishly also.
“Jinnie, quit it.” You pouted as he tugged you inside.
“Just come on, stop pouting. There’s food inside.” He bribed you. You rolled your eyes. “I’m already coming inside, and I know there’s food.” Hyunjin snorted, your arms now in front of you.
One of Hyunjin’s hands made it’s way to your waist, gently grasping onto your side and pulling you a tad closer to him. You stiffened, gazing up at the boy, who refused to look at you, his cheeks and ears were painted a soft pink color. Your lips curled, eyes curving into half-moons as you watched him. He was so careful, like he thought you’d smack his hand away. But you didn’t, you really couldn’t, you were here to play a role, after all.
You turned your head away from him as you entered the second set of doors, eyes widening at the sight. The room was huge, decorated gracefully with soft colors illuminating the large ballroom.
Every man, woman, and child in the place looked extraordinarily graceful, each posing with an elaborate aura that radiated power and confidence. Even the youngest child you saw, a girl who seemed no older then 11 years old, seemed to fit in more then you as she stood beside her parents quietly.
Hyunjin seemed to notice the way your shoulders tensed, for his hand tightened slightly around your waist, his neck craning to get a better look at you as the pair of you stood at the entrance, still unnoticed by most people in the hall.
“Y/n.” He whispered, bending closer to you, his voice just a gentle whisper in your ear.
“Don’t be nervous, you fit in perfectly. Nobody will question us, alright?” You turned your head towards him, giving a faint nod.
Hyunjin’s heart sank at your response. It was cruel of him to drag you here, into a world that even he, who had been raised in it, struggled to handle. He was regretful, eyebrows furrowing.
He leaned in, pressing a chaste kiss to the apple of your cheek. He watched your lashes flutter as you fully turned towards him, a faint red rising in your cheeks and touching the tips of your ears.
“Hyunjin!” You whispered, shocked.
The boy sent you a proud grin, standing back to his normal posture. You stared at him, not missing the way his cheeks were also deepening in color. He watched you watch him, eyes shining sweetly. You scoffed, shaking your head fondly as you looked away, eyes gazing into the large room. You were stunned again, wondering how someone could afford something so grand.
Hyunjin began to move, his hand on your waist simply pulled you along with him.
It didn’t take long for people to notice the two of you, or rather, to notice Hyunjin. Your stunning best friend, whose hand was currently gripping your waist. You shrunk internally, but tried your best to give off confidence. You only hoped it worked.
Hyunjin pulled you through the crowd of people, most of which watched you both. You should’ve expected it, after all, Mr. Hwang was the one throwing this party.
And yet, you hadn’t seen it coming.
Hyunjin bowed and greeted multiple families, but kept moving. He figured you were already nervous enough. He just needed to find his parents.
But then, you stopped.
Your eyes were trapped, trapped in a trace. Your body immediately tensed, heart dropping in your chest.
There he was, standing off the to side, speaking to a few adults, a pretty girl wrapped around his arm. He looked so beautiful, his blonde hair was neatly combed, body fitted into a black suit. His small dimples were visible as he smiled at one of the talking men. He looked to effortlessly ethereal. But so did the girl he was with.
Of course he did, he was Lee Felix.
Your body pushed against Hyunjin’s grasp, feet taking a few, small steps backwards.
“You didn’t tell me he’d be here. Who is that girl?” You said through clenched teeth. What if he saw you? Then you would never be able to tell him how you feel, not without him thinking you’d hurt Hyunjin. But why did that even matter? He already had someone with him. Was it his girlfriend? It couldn’t be, he’d have told you and the others. Right? This was not good, not good at all.
Hyunjin’s brows were furrowed in confusion, his gaze following yours.
And then, his heart plummeted, too.
He didn’t know Felix would be here, he hadn’t gotten to look at the guest list. Even if he had, he doubt he would’ve noticed Felix’s name, nor the girl’s, who’s name was probably scribbled next to his as a plus-one.
His eyes turned back towards you, hand retreating from your waist. “I didn’t know he’d be here, I don’t know who that is.” He swallowed.
He watched you, your eyes glazed over, watching the freckled boy and the stranger.
He wondered, as he studied you, if he looked at you the same way you looked at Felix. It was a sad reality, really.
Your eyes held the whole world when you looked at Felix, like the entire galaxy had made home in your beautiful gaze. And you had a certain feel to you, when you were with Felix, that you didn’t have with anyone else. Almost as though the accented boy was your whole reason for existing.
That’s how Hyunjin looked at you. Like you were everything that kept him going, like you were the only reason he was living in this horrid, wretched world.
He wondered how he would react seeing you with another man. It was hard enough to watch you fall for Felix, but to imagine you actually with him? Horrid.
Then again, the sight in front of him made his blood boil. How could Felix just look past you? How could he bring someone else when he knew all too well that you were hopelessly in love with him?
Hyunjin knew, he had known since the day you met Felix, that you would never, ever, look at Hyunjin quite the way you looked at Lee Felix.
Because to you, Felix was your everything. You loved him.
Hyunjin knew, for sure, as he was watching you in that moment, that you would never be his. But that didn’t matter, because if he couldn’t have you, you should’ve at least gotten to have Felix. And now both possibilities seemed so far away.
No, you would touch his finger tips, but be just out of his grasp.
It was all a sick, cruel joke the universe was playing.
And Hyunjin couldn’t win. Now, neither could you.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“Y/n, please come out. It’s been 10 minutes, my parents are waiting for us.” Hyunjin knocked on the bathroom door, pleading for you to come out.
But you couldn’t, you had messed up your makeup with faint tears, and now you looked a mess.
Maybe you were overreacting, but you just couldn’t get yourself to leave the restroom.
You mind was swarmed with memories of Felix, dashing, beautiful Felix. With his freckled cheeks, thick accent, and dimpled smile. Who was that girl? The question haunted you.
“Y/n, please.” Hyunjin slumped against the door, not caring if anyone saw him at this point. His hands and forehead were pressed against it, eyes shut.
He really had messed up, he already knew that. But he didn’t know Felix would be here, especially not with a date. If he had, he never would’ve brought you.
The door suddenly unlocked, so Hyunjin took a step back. There you were, makeup slightly messy, eyes swollen and cheeks red. He almost cried at the sight of you.
“I’m sorry.” He mumbled, stepping forwards to capture you in his warm embrace. You hugged him back, pulling him inside the restroom with you. Then, you locked the door again and continued to hug the tall boy.
You weren’t crying, you already had and besides, you shouldn’t shed anymore tears over something you couldn’t control.
Hell, if Felix was happy, you should be too.
“I’m sorry, I kinda messed up our time, huh?” You whispered into Hyunjin, who was still tightly hugging you, his chin resting on your head.
He chuckled lightly, shaking his head mindlessly. “No, you didn’t. It’s okay, this party is hours long, we only spent 15 minutes not attending it. We’ll be fine, I’m sure.” Hyunjin really wasn’t sure, however, he did know that his parents were probably looking for the two of you.
You sighed, retracting your body from his arms. He felt cold at the loss of you, but didn’t say anything.
“Can you help me? I just need to fix my makeup.” You sighed, walking towards the sink.
“What do I do? You don’t have a bag or anything, did you even bring makeup?” Hyunjin quirked a brow.
You hesitated. “No, but it’s only the mascara that’s running, so just carefully wipe it. I would, but my hands are…” You looked at your hands, which were shaking slightly.
Hyunjin inhaled, nodding. “Okay.” He mumbled, grabbing some tissues from the dispenser next to the sink. “What about your foundation and contour?“ He pursed his lips.
You had thought about that, but at this point, you didn’t care. “I can deal with that after. But I’d rather had messed up foundation then black streaks on my face.”
Hyunjin nodded at your words.
You leaned against the sink, hands gripping onto the counter to steady yourself. You tried your best not to think about Felix, nor the girl he had brought with him.
Hyunjin dampened the tissue, hoping it would ease the process of fixing your makeup. He leaned down, one hand beside yours on the counter, your body practically trapped under him. He was focused, lightly dabbing away the tear stains. Luckily, they hadn’t dried yet, so it wasn’t as difficult as he had thought it would be.
Your grip tightened on the counter as Hyunjin gently tapped the tissue against your face, eyes flickering back and forth over him. He was so close, you could see every strand of hair on his head, you could even smell his cologne. He was focused on you, but for once, it wasn’t because he couldn’t look away, it was because he was cleaning you up. And for just a moment, your heart beat a little bit faster, because here, encased in your best friend’s arms, you felt whole.
You just watched the boy, scanning his face that you had memorized years ago. You looked at the little mole under his eye, you looked at his nose and his lips, just admiring him for what felt like the first time.
Had he always looked this beautiful?
You couldn’t quite recall. To you, Hyunjin had always been handsome, sure, but he was still your annoying best friend. And now, you couldn’t help but look at him in a different, new light.
As his fingers curled against the counter, his face so close to yours you could basically feel his warm breath fane across your cheeks.
And then, in the heat of the moment, while you were questioning everything Hyunjin was, he pulled away. A proud smile on his face as he tossed the tissue into the trash can. “I fixed it! Look in the mirror.”
You nodded mindlessly, Hyunjin’s head tilting when you didn’t look away. You caught on, turning your body towards the mirror.
It wasn’t perfect, but it was certainly before then before.
You grabbed a dry tissue and tried to even out the foundation. It didn’t work great, but it worked well enough to not mess with your makeup anymore.
“Good?” You turned towards Hyunjin, who smiled fondly at you.
He held out his hand into the symbol for perfect. “Impeccable.”
You nodded, smiling at the ground for a moment, before you looked back up.
“We should go find my parents now.” Hyunjin said calmly.
Well, to you, it was calm. But inside, Hyunjin was fawning over you. How could he not? You looked so precious, all shy and worried.
Then again, he was also fuming. He didn’t think he’d ever been so upset at anyone, let alone at sweet Felix.
It wasn’t his fault, not really. It was just like how Hyunjin felt about you; he loved you, but the feeling wasn’t mutual. You loved Felix, but the feeling wasn’t mutual.
Love really has it’s way of messing with your mind. It’s unfair and cruel, making you fall for someone you just can’t have. Hyunjin sighed as he followed you out of the restroom, his brows furrowed in thought.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“Do you see him?” You asked, clinging onto Hyunjin’s arm nervously.
You were gonna give him whiplash if you kept looking around how you were now.
“I don’t see him, I’ll tell you if I do. But seriously, y/n, you gotta stop moving your neck like that. I’m afraid it’ll break.” Hyunjin whispered.
You snapped your neck towards him in the same way he told you to stop doing. “Funny.”
Hyunjin scoffed.
“Didn’t you say we need to find your parents?” You inquired.
Hyunjin hummed, nodding. The two of you had been doing pretty good at evading conversations with people at the party, but you still hadn’t been able to find Hyunjin’s parents.
“I’ve been looking for them.” He said, his eyes still sweeping the large room as the pit of you cautiously walked through it.
“I see them!” You suddenly exclaimed, hitting Hyunjin’s arm lightly a few times.
Hyunjin flinched, looking at you, then to where your gaze was pointed. “Ah! Me too, let’s go.” He quickly tugged you along. Or, he tried to, but you beat him to it.
When you approached Hyunjin’s parents, they both looked ecstatic to see you.
“My son!” Mr. Hwang called cheerfully, patting the young man on the back. Hyunjin smiled, giving his father a bow, to which you followed suit.
“Y/n, dear, it’s lovely to see you, you look stunning. Mr. Hwang and I were so pleased to hear that you and Hyunjin were finally together! We’ve been waiting for years.” The woman giggled, watching happily as your cheeks fired up.
“Ah, thank you, mother.” You bowed again.
“So, y/n. Please tell us, how did Hyunjin finally make you his?” Mr. Hwang asked, noticing the way Hyunjin’s fingers had locked with yours.
“Oh— well, he—“ You stuttered, quickly thinking of a story.
“Really, it wasn’t anything extravagant. Hyunjin was walking me home after we had hung out all day, and he just sort of… spilled his feelings.” You tried your very best to make the story seem reasonable. You hoped it wouldn’t be too far-fetched. Hyunjin and you often spent your free days together, and he always walked you home after, so the fabrication was believable enough. To you, at least.
Hyunjin’s heart was hammering against his chest. He pictured the scenario in his head, wondering what it would be like if he really did admit his feelings to you like that.
Mrs. Hwang clapped quietly, smiling. “How sweet. Not everything needs to be fancy, you know. Some things are better simple.” She explained.
Hyunjin erased the scene from his mind, choosing to beam at his mother instead, before his attention was directed back towards his father.
“I agree. I do hope he at least got you flowers, though.” Mr. Hwang said, pointing at his son.
You laughed, fiddling nervously with a strand of your hair. “He got me a box of chocolates.” You lied. It felt wrong to lie to the Hwangs, but it was necessary, you supposed.
Mr. Hwang nodded in approval, patting Hyunjin on the back again.
“Just let us know if he needs to be put in his place. I know he can get…” Mr. Hwang trailed off, chuckling.
“Father! I’m right here.” The boy in question pouted, jutting out his lower lip.
Mr. Hwang was about to speak, but another man approached, greeting the four of you. He began to talk to Hyunjin’s father, who excused himself from the other three of you.
“Why don’t you two go get something to eat, if you haven’t already.” Mrs. Hwang said sweetly, rubbing your arm gently. You nodded, only just realizing how hungry you were.
Hyunjin said goodbye to his mother, then pulled you away, and back into the crowd.
“Jinnie.” You softly tugged on the sleeve of his suit.
He turned towards you, blinking. “Hm?”
You shuffled, smiling at his sheepishly. “The food is, uh,” you pointed past Hyunjin, “that way.”
Hyunjin furrowed his brows, looking behind him. You were right, the food was, indeed, that way. “Oh.” He said.
You laughed, it was your turn to pull him along now.
As you approached the table, you only grew more and more excited, your nerves completely dissipating.
Hyunjin let go of your hand as you arrived at the table, watching you with a soft smile as you excitedly grabbed a plate and scanned the table full of delicious food.
He couldn’t help but fawn over you, it wasn’t his fault. You were so precious, always excited at the prospect of food. And for the second time that night, you reminded Hyunjin of a little puppy.
He managed to move his eyes off of you, gazing elsewhere as you collected various amounts of food from the table.
Then he spotted someone he definitely didn’t want to see tonight. Walking hand in hand with a girl, was Felix.
And he was approaching the table, his sights already locked on Hyunjin as he happily waved, a wide smile on his freckled face.
Hyunjin stated, eyes wide as he carefully smiled back. What should he do? He couldn’t turn around, not now that he had acknowledged the incoming boy and his date. He glanced over his shoulder, searching for you. He found you, still at the food table, of course. You seemed to feel his gaze on you, because you looked up almost immediately and grinned stupidly at him, waving in excitement.
Hyunjin stared at you, a look of wordy shadowing his face. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion, head and smile dropping when you looked past Hyunjin, seeing Felix approach.
But by then, he had seen you too, his smile growing even bigger.
You were seriously going to throw up.
Hyunjin scolded himself internally for the hundredth time that night, slowly turning around just in time to bow to Felix.
“Hey! I’ve been looking for you, I didn’t think y/n would be here. Are her parents attending? I didn’t see them.” Felix chirped.
You had set down your plate of food, knowing you had to go along with the role you had promised to play for Hyunjin. You approached the trio, eyes locked on Felix and his date as your arms wrapped around Hyunjin’s.
“Actually, I’m his date.” You smiled, it was painfully fake.
You swore you saw Felix’s bright smile drop for a moment, his eyes scanning your outfits and putting the facts together. You two were matching, of course you were here together… as dates.
Felix didn’t know how to feel. He had brought his girlfriend, if you could call her that. He had been seeing her for only a couple weeks, just tonight feeling brave enough to introduce her to his parents. And they liked her, but not as much as he had hoped they would.
When Felix saw you, he had only been more elated, but seeing you as Hyunjin’s date upset him. He wasn’t sure why, but he ignored it,
You clung tightly to Hyunjin, not just for show, but because you were nervous.
Hyunjin could tell, so he placed one of his hands over yours, softly caressing your hand as he spoke to Felix.
You sighed quietly, trying to it best to relax, but you couldn’t. You observed the girl with Felix, and it only made you feel worse. She was stunning, almost a perfect match for Felix. You shook the thoughts from your head, attempting to engross yourself into the conversation.
“How long have you two been together? I’m surprised I didn’t hear about it sooner!” Felix laughed, smiling at the both of you.
“Only a few days, we didn’t want to tell everyone yet. We’d appreciate it if you didn’t tell the others.” Hyunjin said in his politest tone.
“Yah, you don’t need to be all respectful with me! Of course I won’t tell them, it’s non of my business anyways.” Felix chirped, looking at his date suddenly when she tapped his shoulder. “Ah, right. This is Yuna, Shin Yuna. Her father is a partner of my father’s.”
The girl, Yuna, smiled brightly, bowing to you and Hyunjin. You didn’t like the way she clung onto Felix, it made your heart burn with anger and jealousy.
But you also didn’t like the way she looked at Hyunjin, in fact, you wasn’t sure which you disliked more. Her with Felix, or her staring at Hyunjin.
It was odd, to you, the feelings that spiked in your chest at her stare.
You had never been jealous of girls with Hyunjin before, but perhaps that was because Hyunjin had always made it clear that you were the only girl he wanted to hang out with. Yes, it was a selfish way to think, you knew, but you couldn’t help it. When someone is with you for so long, you can’t help but get attached.
“It’s nice to meet you, Yuna. You’re a stunning couple.” You spoke up, surprising all three of them. Hyunjin looked the most startled, his soft touch on your hand freezing. “But Jinnie and I really should go, we have a date planned tonight and,” you checked your watch for show, “it’s already 8:35. Our reservation is at 9:00, isn’t it?” You looked towards Hyunjin, who stared. You stepped on his foot, making him wince and cough slightly a s a distraction, before nodding.
“Yep! It’s at 9:00, we should get going.” Hyunjin said in a rushed tone.
Felix and Yuna looked surprised, but Yuna didn’t seem upset. It was only Felix that seemed a bit down that the two of you had to leave so soon.
“Oh. I see, well, you two have a good dinner. I’ll see you both another time.” Felix said hesitantly, eyeing the plate he had watched you fill and then put down.
Odd.
You laughed nervously, bowing before you quickly dragged Hyunjin towards the doors.
“Y/n—“ He inhaled. “Y/n!” His voice was louder now, so you turned.
“What?” You grunted.
“What the hell was that? We don’t have any dinner reservations. Besides, if we are leaving, we should say goodbye to my parents.” Hyunjin was unsure of what was going through your mind as you stared at him. What were you thinking?
“I know you don’t.” You suddenly said. “I just couldn’t stand there and watch that girl— Yuna, cling onto Felix like that. And the way she was looking at you just made—“ You stopped, sealing your mouth shut.
“What? The way she was looking at me made you what?” Hyunjin tilted his head, heart beginning to beat faster. We’re you upset, jealous even?
“It doesn’t matter, can we just leave? I’m tired and I just want to go home. I can call a cab if you want to stay, but I’m leaving.” You removed your hand from Hyunjin’s, who looked confused.
“Y/n, why won’t you talk to me? You’ve been acting strange all night, I don’t—“ Hyunjin began, but you cut him off.
“I am talking to you, Hyunjin. I’m just mad.” You defended yourself, arms crossing over your chest. You would be freezing if you were outside, but luckily, you were just in the lobby of the large building.
“Mad? Why are you mad?” He swallowed.
You couldn’t stop the scoff that escaped your lips, eyes flickering up and down the boy in front of you. “Seriously, Hyunjin? I’m mad that you brought me into this mess of yours! You know how I feel about coming to parties like this, and on top of that, Felix saw us together!”
Hyunjin furrowed his eyebrows. “So? Just— I don’t know, just tell him we called it off. Mutually. Im sure he’d give you a chance, I don’t think he’s especially happy with Yuna.”
You tried to bite your tongue, you really did. “It doesn’t matter! That doesn’t matter anymore. Your parents think we’re together, everyone at this damned party thinks we’re together! It’s not going to end. Your father isn’t gonna let either of us get away that easily, Hyunjin. And you know it.”
“Why does that matter? I told you I’ll deal with it, what’s so wrong with some people thinking we’re together, I don’t—“ Again, you cut him off.
“What’s wrong with it?! What isn’t wrong with it?!” You threw your hands up, pointing at the boy’s chest.
“I don’t want to date you, Hyunjin. It’s— it’s disgusting! It makes me sick just thinking about being with you in that way, and now hundreds of people believe this stupid lie you made up?” You poked his chest as you continued.
“You forced me into this and I hate it! I never wanted to come with you, I only did because you’re my best friend. But then you crossed the line, Hyunjin. You can’t just… you can’t kiss my cheek, or— or hold my waist all night! I let it go at first because it was all for show,” You dramatically shook yourself to seem more convincing, “but it’s too much! I don’t want to date you Hyunjin, it disturbs me to even think about that.” Alright, you were being harsh and dramatic. But you were cold, tired, and hungry. None of those things made for a very happy y/n.
Hyunjin stared at you, his whole heart shattering into a million pieces.
People often say that those closest to you are the ones that have the most power over you, they’re the ones that can hurt you the most. And for the longest time, Hyunjin didn’t believe that. Because really, even if it were true, you, his sweet, little y/n, would never hurt him.
Yet here you are, crushing his love into meaningless particles of dust, watching them blow away, never to be seen again.
“What?” Was all Hyunjin could say, scared that he would burst into tears if he tried to speak anything more.
He could see your glare visibly soften, just the slightest bit, but you didn’t take anything back.
Did you find him appalling? Did it really disgust you to think about being anything more then a friend to him? The words you had said to him were horrible, and he was sure that you didn’t mean to hurt him, how were you supposed to know his feelings? To you, the things you said might have seemed like mutual thoughts, but they weren’t.
Hwang Hyunjin was in love with you, but you didn’t know that.
Hyunjin felt his face heat up with anger and sadness, his eyes were also beginning to water. He blinked the tears away quickly, but you had already noticed.
“Hyunjin?” Your eyes widened.
“Hyunjin, I—“ He cut you off this time, an empty scoff of disbelief leaving his lips. “What, y/n? Haven’t you said enough? What more could you possibly want to say?” His tone was the angry one now, voice laced with something you’d never heard him use towards you.
Hwang Hyunjin was livid, and he was hurting on top of that.
“You need to leave. I’ll call you a cab.” Hyunjin turned and entered the ballroom before you could speak, leaving you confused and unsure of what to do next.
You never should have said the things you did, you didn’t even mean them. You were overwhelmed, but that wasn’t any excuse. Even if it was, it was a lousy one.
You were, by no means, disgusted by the thought of being something more than a friend to Hyunjin. And that was exactly what scared you. You shouldn’t be feeling that way for your best friend, you should be feeling that way for a certain, freckled boy named Felix. But you weren’t, not anymore, and maybe it was the small amount of alcohol in your body, but you couldn’t help but think back on memories of Hyunjin.
You unearthed something the childhood version of you had covered up a long time ago.
Your feelings for Hyunjin.
And just like that, the childhood crush and feelings came roaring back to life. In fact, you realized something. Every moment you had spent with Hyunjin, you had been extremely happy and at peace, and that wasn’t normal. Not for a friend, not even for a best friend. The way your skin would momentarily burn at his touches, the way you stared at Hyunjin fondly when he spoke about something he loved, the way you admired his every feature and movement, it wasn’t normal. But you had covered it up with the excuse that it was because he was your best friend, and you had, somehow, gotten yourself to fall for your own lies.
But the truth was this; You loved Hwang Hyunjin, not at a friend, not as a best friend, not as a brother figure.
You loved Hyunjin in a way you had long forgotten possible.
You loved Hyunjin more then you had ever loved Felix.
You loved Hyunjin with everything you were, and everything you would ever be.
You loved Hyunjin, as your whole world.
And now, you had gone and messed it all up, shattering your heart along with it Hyunjin’s.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
It had been days, four days to be exact, since the party you had attended with Hyunjin. You had tried your best to get in touch with him, but he wouldn’t answer you. You didn’t have the heart to tel his parents what happened, so you didn’t text them. You doubted they’d be able to get him to see you anyways, he’d make up an excuse.
So, after two more days, you couldn’t stand it anymore.
You had seen, or at least, talked to Hyunjin every day of your entire life. Not talking to him for nearly a whole week? While it might not seem like much to others, it felt like forever for you.
You loved your other friends, but seeing only a few of them a couple of times, Seungmin, Jeongin, Changbin, and Han specifically, really didn’t make you feel much better. They could tell, too. Han had let it slip that Hyunjin wasn’t hanging out with them as much either, usually he was only with Minho, which was normal for the pair of dancers.
You were sad to hear it, your words really did upset him, and knowing that hurt. But you were sure Hyunjin was hurting more.
So, you decided it was time to win Hyunjin back. And to start, you needed to see him.
Luckily for you, you had been to hundreds for Hyunjin’s dance practices and performances, you had memorized the way to the studio years ago.
You needed to see him, so you got in your car, started the engine, and began driving.
When you arrived, it was 4:14pm, which meant Hyunjin and Minho’s practice would be ending in just one minute.
You quickly got out of your car and approached the building. You were nervous, that much was true. Your hand grasped into the handle, fingers trebling as you drew in a deep breath.
You pushed it open, greeting the woman at the front desk and made your way down the familiar hall, to the even more familiar practice room.
You had passed about ten dancers, probably from the same practice room you were headed to, but Hyunjin and Minho were not one of them, so you continued. When you arrived, you could hear talking within the room. And then, your heart skipped a beat at a familiar voice.
Hyunjin was inside, along with Minho. You expected it, but hearing Hyunjin’s voice for the first time in a while still made you nervous.
You grasped the handle, similarly to the way you had held onto the handle just a few moments earlier.
You Twitter the handle, pushing open the door, which creaked softly in response.
Three pairs of eyes met yours; Minho’s, Hyunjin’s, and a girl’s that you had never seen before.
But that wasn’t what surprised you.
What surprised you, what the protective hand that was wrapped around her waist. It was Hyunjin’s hand, he was holding her against him, Minho standing a few feet in front of them, his icy gaze softening when he saw you.
Hyunjin’s hand flew off of the girl’s waist, making her move backwards in surprise.
You shut the door immediately, hesitating by the handle for a moment. You needed to go, the feeling in the pit of your stomach made you aware of that.
You let go of the handle, watching in horror as it turned and the door began to open. In a flash, you were running down the hallway, out the door, and into your car. You turned on the engine and left, checking your mirror for a fleeting second.
And there, standing in from of the studio, was your Hyunjin. Maybe he wasn’t yours anymore, but still, there he was, watching you drive away.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
When you got home, it was 5:30pm and the sky was already darkening. You slumped onto the couch in your apartment, hands covering your face.
What were you thinking? Hyunjin didn’t love you, at least not as anything more then a friend. So why did you think he would wait for you? Wait for you to do what? To apologize? To say you didn’t mean it? And then what? Everything would just go back to how it was before, he would still have dated the girl from the dance studio.
You were so stupid, who pushed down their feelings for years?
A knock on the door interrupted your train of thought, the noise causing you to lift your head and stand up from the couch.
You sighed, slumping towards the door. You took in a deep breath, putting on your best smile as you opened the door.
You tried to shut it right away, but it was too late.
Hyunjin was pushing his way into your apartment, and when you realized you couldn’t stop him, you just let him in and stepped back, eyes glued to your feet.
“Y/n…” Hyunjin panted, a bit surprised at the strength you had used to try and keep him out.
“Hyunjin, I’m so sorry.” You spoke, looking up to meet the boy’s surprised gaze.
You sighed lowly, shuffling nervously. “I didn’t mean anything I said back there, at the party. I just— I don’t have an excuse, but I do have an explanation. And I know it’s too late now, but I still need to get this off my chest.”
“I think I’ve… I’ve felt something for you since we were kicks, and I used Felix as a distraction. I’ve pushed my feelings down for years, I didn’t mean to, I was just scared? I think I was scared, or maybe I was just being irrational, but still. I really like you Jinnie, and I know you’re with someone else now, but I needed you to know. So please, don’t think it disgusts me to think about you as more then a best friend, because it doesn’t. I was just fighting my feelings and… I shouldn’t have done it the way I had. I’m sorry.” You bowed deeply, standing back up, though your gaze was trapped on your feet.
You felt something touch your chin, Hyunjin’s slender fingers lifting your head to look at him.
His smile was so gentle, so sweet. You almost melted.
“Y/n, I understand. Not exactly, but— I really like you too. I think I love you, even. That’s why I avoided you all week, I couldn’t look at you without combusting at the thought that it disgusted you to think about dating me.” He chuckled softly, thumb running along your cheek.
“It’s not too late. That girl at the dance studio, she’s just my dance partner. Minho wanted to go over some steps with the both of us, you just walked in at a bad part in the choreography.” Hyunjin sucked in, chewing his lower lip. “It’s not too late.”
The both of you stared in complete, utter silence, neither of you sure what to do next. All you knew, was that Hyunjin’s hand was on your cheek, and you had never felt more alive then now, in this moment with Hyunjin.
You decided to take the chance, leaning towards Hyunjin.
He swallowed, Adam’s apple bobbing as your breath fanned over his face.
You gave him a silly grin, one that he adored.
You didn’t move from there, so he did. Using his hand on your cheek, he pulled you into him.
When your lips met, it felt like you had finally found the missing pieces of yourself. The broken pieces of Hyunjin’s heart and yours intertwined, making the beating organs whole again.
His lips were so soft, the kiss so sensual and tender. Your hands found their way to his jaw, his finding home on your waist. He tugged you closer to his body needily, a soft whimper escaping his plush lips as you nibbled on them.
When you pulled away, Hyunjin’s lips were already a bit swollen and red, his eyes blown out.
He pushed his lower lip out, leaning in to peck your lips quickly. “Why’d you stop?” He pouted, grunting when you squished his cheeks together fondly.
“You are just so cute!” You exclaimed, softly running your fingers through his hair. He grumbled, but allowed you to continue. He wouldn’t admit it, but he really liked the feeling of your fingers against his scalp. Besides, he figured you’d give him another kiss if he didn’t complain.
And you did.
You kissed him again, and again, and again.
Your fingers ran through his silky locks, admiring his neat mullet. “You’re so pretty.” You mumbled into his mouth, his fingers gripping you so tightly, you were sure your waist would bruise.
He hummed, trailing his sloppy kisses down the curve of your neck, and over the jut of your collar bones. “That’s my line.”
You giggled, playfully pushing him away.
“Yah! Come back here, I’m not done!” He complained, quickly slipping off his shoes and replacing them for the pair of slippers he had left at your apartment when you first moved in.
You squeaked as he reached for you, running down the hall and into your room.
But he followed you, and he certainly wasn’t done with you.
He made sure to leave marks of his love all over your body that evening, and again at night, and one last time in the morning, just because he could.
And you did the same to his body.
You were in heaven, Hyunjin made sure you knew that.
And that’s when Hyunjin knew, you would never look at him the way you looked at Felix, but the reason was different then what he had originally thought.
That night, while you slept, tangled up in the safety of his arms, Hyunjin knew;
You would never look at him the way you looked at Lee Felix, because to you, Hyunjin was your whole world.
And nothing could compare to the way the world looked in your beautiful, sparkling eyes.

You hate this feeling, especially since you had no clue how to stop it. The sudden throbbing in between your thighs made you uncomfortable since you weren’t sure how to pleasure yourself to feel satisfied. You began to feel hot and bothered from the sensation between your legs, making your roommates steer clear of you for the past week or so. It wasn’t like you to be so snappy about the smallest things, usually you were pretty chill. Thankfully, you were rooming with four of your best friends, so you knew they would understand, yet even so, you wanted to stop this feeling from happening if you couldn’t help yourself.
With money being tight, you were thankful you were able to room all together to minimize it and comfortably live. There usually weren't too many arguments in your household, yet suddenly, you couldn’t stop having mini tantrums about the dumbest things.
"Do you think it's that time of the month for her?" Felix cautiously whispered to Hyunjin, still focusing on the game in front of them. Chan shot him a look while Changbin stifled a laugh.
"Who knows," Hyunjin shrugged, "But this needs to stop. I'll go crazy if she keeps this up."
"Excuse me?" You scoffed, standing in the entryway of the living room as all the boys held their breaths. All besides Hyunjin, who smiled sarcastically at you.
"Morning sunshine! You're awake?" He cooed, just to be annoying. He was tired of you acting this way and frankly didn’t care if he upset you.
"I’m clearly awake,” You rolled your eyes in annoyance, "Why is the first thing I hear is you all talking shit about me?”
Hyunjin groaned, pausing the game and dropping the controller before standing up to confront you, "Y/N, you need to get laid or something. Maybe even get yourself off so you can cheer the fuck up. You're making everyone miserable here!"
You felt your cheeks burn with embarrassment as you averted your gaze from the boys. Your arms wrapped around your waist as if you were on design and needed to cover yourself, "I can't," You mumbled, almost inaudible.
“What was that?” Hyunjin chuckled, raising a brow at you with a cheeky grin plastered over his face as the others watched silently, “Look at me when I’m talking to you,” He snapped his fingers, eyes dark as he continued to tease you.
You felt almost like butterflies in your stomach, yet ignored it to lift your eyes to meet his, “I can’t get off myself because I don’t know how to!” You yelled in embarrassment as you buried your face in your hands.
“Awe, our sweet, innocent, Y/N. You should have just asked for help. We're more than happy to teach you,” Hyunjin smirked, pulling your hands away from your face before turning back to look at the boys for reassurance. Your eyes widened, along with Chan’s and Felix’s, but of course, Changbin was the only one leaning back in his chair casually with a pleasant smile written across his face.
“What? How?” You asked in disbelief and confusion.
"Simple, we'll teach you how to pleasure yourself. We can show you how to make yourself cum,” Hyunjin chuckled, moving closer as his breath tickled your ear. Goosebumps arose on your skin, making a gasp leave your lips as you unconsciously grabbed onto Hyunjin’s arm. He was the last person you expected to be like this, maybe Changbin, but not him.
Noticing your state, Hyunjin smiled widely before sharing a quick look at the boys who nodded, a little too eager to be involved, "Why don't we head to my room then? We've got a few things to show you," He winked, taking a hold of his hand willingly, but stopped in your tracks.
“Wait. Is this okay? Are you all okay with this?” You spared a glance at your best friends, “I don’t want to lose my best friends.”
Finally, Chan spoke up, his gorgeous smile making you feel more at ease, “We are best friends and that's why we want to help you. This won't change anything, trust me."
You nodded, trying to wrap your head around what was about to happen as you stopped, “One more thing. Can I go shower and do some self care things?”
“You don’t have to Y/N! We don’t need anything extra like shaving. Just be you, especially around us,” Changbin smiled, making you feel a bit better about it.
You smiled at his cute face, “Thank you Binnie, but I'd feel more comfortable if I did. Also, can we just do one or two in a room at a time? I’m too shy as it is,” You quietly trailed off.
“Whatever makes you comfortable Y/N,” Felix smiled, helping you feel more comfortable about this already weird, yet thrilling situation. You nodded your head before rushing off to the bathroom.
You still were a bit boggled by what was about to happen. Were you actually going to let your best friends help you get off, maybe even fuck you? Would you fall in love with one of them? All these thoughts ran through your head as the water showered over you. Even though you were anxious and you felt insecure, you knew your best friends wouldn’t do or pressure you into anything you weren’t comfortable with. You trusted them.
After showering, you knocked on the door of the first boy who came to mind. If you were going to learn how to finger yourself, you wanted it to be from Hyunjin. His hands were huge and his fingers were slender and long, making you wet just thinking of them. You saw Hyunjin laying on his bed, phone in hand and a smile adoring his face. He gestured for you to come in before taking your hand and pulling you onto his bed.
“Relax. It’s just a bit of fun. If you want to stop at anytime, just let me know,” Hyunjin reminded you as you nodded. Hyunjin placed you on your back, pressing his body flush against yours as he pressed a soft kiss to your lips. His hands caressed your skin, leaving goosebumps along the way, encouraging you to kiss him back and to grind against his thigh that was positioned between you.
"Hyunjin," You mumbled softly once his lips attached themselves to your neck.
"Relax princess," Hyunjin chuckled once he pulled your shorts off to see your panties with a wet stain, "Touch yourself."
You moved your free hand to the hem of your panties before trailing them down to touch your clothed core. A low moan escaped your lips at the unfamiliar feeling, but with the way Hyunjin was staring at you, it only encouraged you to try harder. He helped you push your panties to the side, placing his hand over yours and he guided your fingers to collect your essence before moving back to touch your clit.
"Add more pressure," Hyunjin added as he pushed against your hand, "And once you feel like you need more, insert a finger and pump it in and out."
You shyly nodded at your friend and began to pump a finger inside of you. Hyunjin's hands moved your free hand to touch your breasts through your thin pajama top to add to the sensation.
"Feel good?" Hyunjin questioned and you nodded with a pout, "Then add another finger, princess. Fuck yourself with two fingers."
Adding a second finger felt even better than imagined and when Hyunjin hovered over you again and looked in your eyes as his hand rested near your panties, you nodded for confirmation and his fingers made contact with your clit and his lips found your neck again.
"Shit," You mumbled breathlessly, "It feels so good, Jinnie."
Hyunjin chuckled into your neck as his fingers rubbed at your clit in circular motions before you brought his hands lower, removing yours. Hyunjin smiled at your silent request and before you knew it, two of his long fingers were pumping in and out of your pulsing core.
He smirked as a loud moan fell from your parted lips, grinding against his hand in attempts to add more pressure. Your fingers moved to play with your clit and you knew you wouldn't last long as you felt overwhelmed by the different sensations.
"I can tell you're close, princess," Hyunjin teased as he increased the speed of his fingers, "Let go for me."
With one hand playing with your clit and the other teasing your nipple through your shirt, your eyes found Hyunjin's and at this, he pressed down on your lower stomach. He continued to pump into you and before you knew it, you came around his long fingers.
Loud moans and shaky breaths escaped your parted lips as your body shook under Hyunjin, helping you ride out your high. Once he noticed you wince from sensitivity, he carefully removed his fingers to pull you into his warm chest.
"And that’s how you do it," Hyunjin teased, making you groan in annoyance as he held you close. A small knock came from Hyunjin’s door before you could speak, Felix emerged from the other side of the door, making you smile up at him while Hyunjin waved him over.
"I see you've already started," Felix smirked, hand pushing your hair out of your face, "Want some more?”
Felix smiled happily seeing you nod shyly at him. Hyunjin helped you into a seated position, adjusting the pillows around you for better comfort, “Are you comfortable getting undressed princess?” Hyunjin asked. You bit your lip, again nodding your shyly before carefully discarding your panties and shirt. Your hand instantly covered your breasts, but Hyunjin was quick to remove them.
"Remember what I said earlier, princess? Relax," He reminded, making you smile at him before turning to Felix as he gently placed his hand on your hip.
"Have you ever tried to hump your pillow?" Felix curiously asked, placing the pillow in front of you.
"No," You said honestly, "I've only tried to finger myself but it never felt that good.” Felix chuckled to himself before positioning the pillow on its side and putting his cold hands on your waist, causing you to flinch slightly. They guided you onto the pillow, making your slit touch the seam of it.
“Move your hips back and forth so the seam of the pillow rubs against your clit and core. Once you feel the pressure build up, try going faster to make yourself cum,” Felix explained, gently pushing your hips to move you, "Just like that," He said while pulling out his phone and showing you a video of a girl coming from it.
"I didn't think that was possible," You giggled, one hand holding the pillow and the other holding onto Hyunjin to steady yourself. Felix's hands stayed on your hips to guide you, "But fuck it feels so good."
The two boys watched intensely as you ground your sensitive core against the pillow in a fast motion. You gave Hyunjin puppy dog eyes, silently asking him to kiss you and he happily complied. A moan escaped your lips, feeling Felix press flush against your back as his lips roamed your neck.
"Lean forward and arch your back," Felix pushed you forward and you were flush against Hyunjin, "Move your hips back and forth as you grind against the pillow."
"Fuck," You mumbled against Hyunjin's chest, his hands rubbing at your lower back.
Felix noticed the way your body jumped and slowed down at the contact, that encouraged him to hold onto your hips tightly and take charge of the pace. Your whines and moans were like music to their ears and the two boys loved the sight in front of them. Your high creeped up on you suddenly as Felix’s hands held you steady while your body shook gently. Hyunjin continued to press soft kisses to your lips to comfort you.
After a few moments, your pussy began to ache from overstimulation and you pushed back to lean against Felix's front, the pillow just grazing your clit. Your breath was uneven and your hair was a mess. You looked straight ahead at Hyunjin who smirked, biting his lip but soon stood and covered his front.
"Fuck, I need to go to the bathroom to fix this," He chuckled a bit embaressed before rushing out of the room.
Felix chuckled at his best friend before pulling the pillow away from under you and leaning back against the mattress with you on top, "How was that?"
"So good and I can't believe I haven't done it earlier!" You mumbled softly.
"That’s just the start, baby," Felix smiled down at you as you side-eyed him in confusion, "I overheard Chan and Changbin about what they were going to teach you. I hope you're ready to cum a few times."
Thankfully, you were given a bit of a break in between the boys. After a stressful week of work, you contracted a cold, worrying the boys more than usual until you recovered. It was normal for you to get horny randomly now after your time with Hyunjin and Felix. You kept begging Chan and Changbin to have their way with you, but they refused till you got better.
It didn’t take much time for you to recover after that and that’s how you found yourself here. Laying on Chan’s bed, fully naked with his fingers moving from your clit to your pulsing core, getting you ready for the next bit. Chan originally told you to fuck yourself with your fingers, but you wanted his help instead. Despite him reminding you that this was an experience for you and being worried to overstep anything, you encouraged him with a kiss.
Chan knew you were close when he felt you clench around his fingers. So close, that when he pulled out you were whining in annoyance at him for not making you cum. He couldn't help but smirk at your pout before pressing a kiss to your lips and grabbing the toy he had beside his bed.
You looked at him with a smile before pulling him into another kiss and he got comfortable beside you. Chan placed the vibrator over core, running the toy up and down your slit to collect your wetness. Once you were distracted by Chan's lips, he turned it onto the lowest setting as you to let out a squeal at the unexpected feeling.
Chan smirked at the way you tried to grind against the toy once you got used to the feeling. That was his sign to get you to hold it yourself, but with his hand stayed over yours. Sensing the need for more, Chan increased the speed of the vibrator, moving it around and keeping it on that spot that had you whining for more.
Chan used his two fingers to fuck you in the hopes of getting you to cum quicker. When he felt you tightly clench around him, he removed his fingers and held onto the vibrator as he increased the speed to the highest setting. Your body jolted in surprise and you felt as if you were to cum any second. Chan moved to get you to use your fingers this time, hand holding your wrist as he helped set your pace. Within seconds, you were seeing stars as Chan helped you ride out your high.
"Chan, fuck!" You moaned breathlessly as your hand moved from your pussy to hold onto his biceps for support.
"Cum Y/N. Cum for me again baby," He encouraged. Your hands moved to hold Chan's firmly against your clit, the vibrator feeling so good, until the overstimulation hit and you pushed Chan's hands away. He shut the vibrator off and placed a few kisses around your thighs to ease your tense body.
You ran your shaky hands through Chan's hair before he removed himself to get you a towel to clean you up. You shied away from his touch and he teased you for being so cute. He threw you one of his shirts before getting into bed and resting your head on his shoulder.
Out of all of the guys, you were closest to Chan and you were thankful even after this, you could just lay with him. Though, this arrangement with the guys had you thinking about a few different things.
"Chan, can I ask you something?" You asked as you moved to sit up right, but Chan stayed laying down as he looked at you, "You know, I'm getting off in front of you all and you’re helping me cum. This doesn't make me a slut or anything does it?”
"Of course not!" Chan was quick to reassure you, sitting up and placing his hands on your cheeks, "You asked for help and that's what this is! You'd feel more comfortable doing this with your best friends over some random guy who probably just wants to hook up and leave. Trust me when I say this doesn't change anything. You are still the cute, little Y/N who's like our sister."
"Then why can't I find love?" You blurted out, "Everyone I start to talk to just wants to fuck and I never say yes since I'm scared of losing my virginity to a random that I don't trust. I don't feel comfortable meeting these people, but I'm also so alone that I don't know what to do anymore."
Chan sensed your frustration and pulled you into a hug before leaving a kiss on your temple, "I get you're frustrated and feel that way, but sometimes you need to work past those fears and do something for yourself. If you don't, you never will."
"Can I ask you another question?" You asked and went ahead after Chan's nod, "If I asked you to take my virginity, would you?"
At first, Chan didn't know what to say. Of course he loved you, but not in that way, at least he thought. His fear was if he did take your virginity, would it change your relationship? Would you fall for him? Would he fall for you? Yet the thoughts of other men hurting you made him mad, leaving him confused and lost.
"Honestly, I don't know," Chan exclaimed truthfully, nodding your head, feeling a little hurt, "It's not that I don't want to, it's the things that follow."
"It's okay, you don't need to explain yourself," You tried your best to smile as you got up and moved towards the door, "I think I'll sleep in my room tonight. Night Chan."
"Wait, Y/N-," But the door was already closed before he could continue.
You silently laid in bed as your mind ran a thousand miles an hour. What Chan said was true, but you still didn't know what to do. Would it ruin things? Did you want your first time to be with someone you loved? Or Chan, someone you trusted with your life?
The following few days, you did your best to avoid all the boys. After your chat with Chan, you felt like what you were doing was wrong. The boys picked up on your change of attitude and despite never being able to be in the same room as you for the past week, they finally managed to sit you down.
"Why are you acting like this, princess?" Hyunjin asked, trying to get closer only for you to step back in hesitation, which only worried the boys more.
"Y/N," Changbin said, "Are you having second thoughts? Should we stop all this?"
"No. I don't know," You mumbled to yourself, "It's fine, we can keep going," You said, getting up and taking Changbin by the hand only to have Chan stop you.
"That's not how this works, Y/N. Changbin isn't going to help you if you're not honest to any of us. So tell me, tell us, what's going on?"
You all sat down and chatted about your experiment, talking about the pros and cons of it. The boys wanted to ensure you were 100% certain that you wanted this before continuing any further. You reassured them you were fine and did want to continue, despite your thoughts you kept you to yourself. A few hours later, Changbin arrived home from the gym, calling you to his room. After taking a deep breath, you made your way to his bed as he placed a pair of joggers on and staying shirtless.
"Do you feel okay?" He asked worriedly as he approached you, placing a soft kiss on your temple.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Better than before," You replied honestly and positioned yourself in Changbin's lap, facing forward and leaning back against his broad chest.
Changbin placed a few kisses on your face and neck as he encouraged you to undress and touch yourself. After a few minutes of stray touches to your clit while your fingers pumped into your core, Changbin leaned over and pulled out a pink dildo for you.
"Do you think you're wet enough or do you need help?" Changbin asked with a smirk.
Swiping your fingers up and down, you checked to make sure you were wet enough, but ultimately took Changbin’s hands for him to check for himself. You heard him gasp at the feeling of your wetness, causing you to smirk at his adorable reaction.
"I take that as a yes," You teased, making him blush as he handed you the dildo.
"Spit on it then rub it against your pussy," Changbin encouraged, attentivly watching.
You took the dildo in your mouth, sucking on the tip before pushing it towards the back of your throat as you gagged around the thickness. You positioned the toy over your slit, running it up and down, giving it a few slaps before teasing your core.
"Gently insert it when you think you're ready, Y/N," Changbin instructed.
You nodded in understanding, using the toy at your core to carefully insert it, but backed out last minute. Changbin smiled in understanding, letting you place his hands on the dildo and yours over the top of his. With careful hands, Changbin slowly prodded the tip of the toy at your core, watching your face for any signs or discomfort before continuing. A loud moan escaped your lips as the unfamiliar feeling, but Changbin was doing his best at whispering praises in your ears.
"Does this feel okay?" Changbin questioned, holding his hand still until you gave permission to continue. Once those words were granted, he pushed the dildo in all the way and kept his hand there.
"Fuck," You moaned breathlessly, pushing yourself against Changbin's front, "Fuck, it's so big."
Changbin couldn't help but smirked, giving you time to adjust to the size, "You know, this is small compared to most cocks. You just need to prepare yourself or you wait until the right time to fuck someone."
Once you were adjusted to the size of the toy, Changbin moved his hand away and let you do the work. His hands stayed on your body and the warmth of his hands only encouraged you to continue. With gentle strokes of the toy already doing so much for you, you decided to keep it at this pace.
"Put your fingers on your clit," Changbin added, "It’ll make you more sensitive."
You listened to Changbin’s advice as the sudden amount of pleasure made your body shake. The pit of your stomach was on fire and you knew that feeling well enough to know that your high was approaching already. Changbin could tell you were getting tired as he placed his hand over top of yours, waiting for your approval. Once granted, you kept your fingers on your clit as Changbin guided you to continue pumping the toy at a faster pace, one that had you shaking in seconds. Changbin's free hand was holding onto your waist to keep you close and ride out the high.
"Oh, fuck!" You whimpered, "Fuck, Bin! Keep going!"
Changbin helped guide you through your orgasm, pumping the silicone dildo in and out until you pushed his hand away to stop. Once he removed the toy, you collapsed against his chest to catch your breath. Changbin pushed the sweaty strands of hair out of your face before leaning over and grabbing the towel he had placed beside his bed earlier to help clean you up.
"Did you enjoy it?" Changbin teased, making you turn to hit his chest in slight embarrassment as he proceeded to clean you up.
"I did!" You huffed and got under the covers once you were clean, "I honestly don't know why I didn't ask you guys to help me earlier.”
"You know," Changbin began as he got into bed, "Chan told me about the conversation you had with him." You immediately tensed at the memory of the conversation, wishing you had shut your loud mouth and never asked him to begin with, "You don't need to freak out or feel silly about it. We understand and even after speaking, we agreed that if you asked, we'd be happy to help. Just some best friends relieving some stress and helping each other out," Changbin explained calmly.
"Thank you," You mumbled against his chest, "Just let me think about it first."
The conversation you had with Chan and Changbin continued to replay in your mind as you weighed out the pros and cons of sleeping with your best friend. You knew Chan wouldn’t pressure you into anything you didn't feel comfortable with, but would things change? You decided to just go for it. Hell, you only lived once anyways? Plus with knowing how Chan was, you knew he wouldn’t change anything unless you wanted that.
To say you were nervous to do this with him was an understatement, but the excitement outweighed it, making you ecstatic to see him. You heard from a little bird, Changbin, that Chan enjoyed black laced lingerie, so of course you went and purchased some, just for him. If this was going to happen, you wanted it to be something the two of you would always remember.
"Chan," You called as you knocked on the door and walking in. You stood there nervously for a few seconds before Chan told you to come sit down. Kneeling on the edge of the bed, your fingers played with the ends of your shirt as you found the courage to say the next words, "I think I'm ready and want you to be the one to do it.”
He smirked at you, placing his phone down on the bedside table before turning towards you to get verbal permission. He pulled you towards him to place a kiss to your lips, "If at anytime you need to stop or in pain, tell me," Chan explained as he pulled the sheets down and moved the pillows into a more comfortable position, "Let me do the rest. I want to make you feel good."
He leaned forward, placing a hand on your cheek as he looked at you for reassurance before pressing his plump lips against yours in a passionate embrace. You immediately melted into the kiss, getting lost that before you knew it, you were laying flat against the mattress with Chan hovering above you. Chan slowly slide his free hand down your body, stopping at the hem of your pajama shorts. His hands played with the material before slipping under to squeeze your ass, not being able to hide your moans from him.
Chan loved the sounds of your moans. It only encouraged him to do more to make you feel your best. He moved his hand towards your front, rubbing his fingers over your panties as your body jumped in shock slightly.
"You're so sensitive," Chan teased once he pulled away from your lips, "It's cute."
"Chan!" You whined, hiding your face in his neck.
Chan continued his ministrations to tease you, kissing your neck until he reached your collar bones, "Can I take your shirt off?"
Nodding at him, Chan unbuttoned your pajama shirt before discarding it. His mouth dropped at the black lace bra that barely covered you. You snickered at the way his eyes couldn’t stop staring, prompting you to remove your shorts as well to be on full display for him.
"Like what you see?" You teased, hiding yourself from him from embarrassment.
"Let me guess," Chan smirked, hand running through his hair before landing on your skin, "Changbin?" You nodded with a giggle as he smiled down at you, “God, you look hot. I might just keep this on you.”
Before you could answer, Chan removed his shirt and shorts, now just in his tight briefs. You couldn't stop staring at his bulge since it was massive. Changbin was right when he said your toy was small compared to most.
Chan's lips captured yours in a fiery embrace, making your body warm up. His tongue clashed with yours, all whilst his fingers slid down your body, squeezing your breasts along the way before slipping his fingers under your panties. A loud whimper escaped your lips at the contact of his cold fingers against your clit. Chan smirked into the kiss, his fingers running up and down, placing pressure on your clit to get wet enough to fuck you. He ventured down, pressing kisses to your skin before stopping at your panties. He pulled them to the side, fingers still running up and down as he pecked at the skin of your thighs before teasingly over your clit.
You couldn’t wait with all this teasing. You needed him and his cock in you,"Chan, fuck me? Please," You whined, stopping his wrist.
Chan pulled away, but kept his fingers on your clit, "I have to prepare you first," He said with a smile, "Or else it’ll hurt and not be as fun."
Sighing in understanding, a pout crept onto your lips. Chan kissed it away, peppering your face to get you to smile again before moving back to your pussy. His lips immediately attached themself to your clit, sucking the small bud as his fingers traced your slit. Chan knew from the way you were gripping his hair and the moans that left your parted lips that he was doing it right.
"Channie," You mumbled under your breath, "More, please."
He couldn’t help but add another digit, slowly fucking into your core. Chan went from sucking your clit to pressing kisses to your thighs as his hands caressed the sides of your thighs. He felt you clench around his fingers, knowing you were close, "Not yet. You have to cum on my cock first, baby."
The new nickname caught your ear as you were startled, especially as Chan pulled away before you could cum. He quickly removed his boxers as you stared at his cock. You couldn't help but think, was it going to fit?
Chan sensed your nervousness but kissed them away, placing a hand on his cock, "I'm not getting you to suck me off or anything right now. I just need you to use your hand to help me get a little harder."
You giggled, noticing the way his cheeks became redder after saying that. You pumped his cock a few times before he placed the condom on and hovered over you. Chan admired your beauty before lining his fully hard length with your core and slowly thrusted in. A small groan left his lips at the way your walls hugged him deliciously. Stilling for a moment halfway to let you adjust, Chan placed kisses all over your face and breasts, noticing the way your face scrunched up in discomfort.
"Are you okay?" He asked, trying his best to not move for you. You gave him a soft nod after a few seconds, encouraging him to continue.
Once Chan got your approval, he pushed in further until he was fully sheathed inside of you. He carefully removed his entire length before thrusting it back into you at a slow pace. You let small whimpers escape your half-opened mouth as you braced yourself by gripping his biceps for support. Chan continued thrusting in and out of you at a steady pace, loving the way you held on tightly and moaned in his ear. He continued fucking you softly but with enough passion to flood your senses and leave you completely breathless.
"More, please Channie," You moaned breathlessly, "Fuck me harder."
"Are you sure?" Chan groaned, leaning forward to rest on his elbow near your head as his free hand held your waist.
You nodded vigorously and Chan’s moans dwindled into whimpers as his thrusts became more erratic. He pressed his forehead against yours and you could feel his grip on your waist tighten. His breathing was heavy against your face and he knew it was a sign he was close. You knew it from feeling him twitch inside of you.
"I usually last longer than this," He chuckled, pressing kisses to your neck, "But you're so god damn tight, fuck. I'm going to cum when you do."
Sighing softly, you moved one of your hands to tug at Chan's curls, "Channie," You whined, "I'm so close, I can't, -"
"Do you want to cum baby?" Chan teased, "Look at me baby."
Chan's thrusts slowed a little until you looked at him and the moment you did, the two of you smiled so brightly at one another. You nodded your head fast, telling Chan you were close before wrapping your arms around his neck and pressing your lips to his so that he could hide your moans through his mouth.
This only made Chan fuck you harder, hearing your moans and feeling the way your pussy hugged his cock and your body shook under his helped him cum too. Chan focused on you first though, thrusting into you at a face pace, moving the hand that was on your waist to add pressure to your clit that had you shaking within seconds.
"Ah, Fuck. Chan!" You cried, hands tightening around his neck as your body shook.
"Cum for me baby, fuck you're doing so well," He soothed, guiding you through your orgasm, and before he knew it, he came undone in the condom.
"Fuck," He groaned, thrusting into you a few more times before stilling his hips completely and pressing a few kisses to your face.
Chan pulled away to remove the condom and place it in the trash beside him before getting a warm towel to clean you up. Your eyes opened the moment you felt the towel against your skin, giggling at him cutely as he teased you. Once you were clean, Chan tossed you one of his clean shirts to wear before pulling you into his embrace and kissing your temple.
"How was that?" Chan asked, hands running up and down your back.
"Perfect," You replied honestly, "It was perfect since I felt comfortable with you. You always asked me if I was okay and you made me feel like I was special. That's the biggest reason as to why I'm scared to be with someone else."
"I'm glad I could be your first," Chan cooed as he pulled the duvet up to cover your body.
"I can't thank you enough, Chan, really,” Despite your worries of this agreement, everything managed to come together in the end. You were more than proud to step out of your comfort zone and for your best friends to be the ones to help you. Maybe this was the start of a new you.

Stray Kids’ reaction to your partner breaking up with you «Hyung Line, Stray Kids as your best friend»
warnings ; use of ‘bastard’ on Changbin’s part
requested ; yes!
note ; I do NOT proofread my work so any errors please let me know! second note ; I know this isn’t my best work, it’s a bit on the lazy side 😭 happy reading
Tumblr media
CHAN ; the shoulder to cry on
• The moment you walked into the apartment crying he was instantly all over you
• Once you explained that your partner had broken your heart his own heart broke
• He would listen to everything you had to get it off your chest
• “Y/N, I’m so sorry..”
• He would get anything you would want
• Supportive to the max
• “You just got to take your mind off the whole thing.. maybe go out somewhere. How about the park?”
• Chan would go to the market for you at any time of the day or night
• Pretty much your personal therapist
• He would take you to your favourite places to distract you from the breakup
• Would suggest going some place fun like an amusement park
• Chan doesn’t tell you but he contacted the ex lover and still kept his cool, trying to find out the real reason to the sudden breakup
MINHO ; Angered but attempts to make you feel better
• You barged into his apartment and just as he was about to yell, Minho quietened down
• He would stay quiet the entire time you just cried on his chest
• Minho always held you close to him relationship wise so this hurt him on a different level
• Would vow to hurt the person that broke you first
• “They deserve what they will be getting”
• After you calmed down, he would begin to speak up and give his opinions on the situation
• No matter the time, he would take you out to a place he liked to spend time at
• You just sit side by side quietly, staring out at the view
• “This place is healing.”
• Both of you would see an ice cream truck stop nearby and especially you would stare at it longingly
• Minho immediately stood up on his feet and bought ice cream for the both of you
• You two would just begin to laugh together, playing around
• Minho would just take the whole thing off your mind whatever you two did together through the week
CHANGBIN ; Also pretty angry but comforts first
• He was in disbelief when you told him what had happened between you and the person you had been seeing
• At first he listened to what you said, trying not interrupt you and express his anger
• No doubt would try to cheer you up on the spot when you began crying
• “Hey.. don’t cry. Smile!”
• He would try tickling, making puns or jokes to crack even the smallest smile out of you
• Changbin would then begin to express his bitterness towards your ex, starting to curse them out
• “What a bastard… they’ll deserve what they’ll be getting.” “Bin.. please don’t try to do anything drastic.”
• He would take you out like the others, inviting the members if you wanted more company
• The whole day he never left your side more than 5 minutes
• By the end of it he insisted on you sleeping over
• He would reluctantly let you style his hair
• “Seungmin’s right, your hair doesn’t listen..”
• And every time your ex lover sent a message, pathetically apologising, Changbin would be quick to grab the phone out of your hands and message him passive aggressively
• When he had your permission, he blocked your ex and called it a new start of your life
HYUNJIN ; Making fun of them to cheer you up
• When you messaged him tearfully about what happened, he immediately got dressed and headed out to your apartment
• Once he arrived he saw you cutting your ex out of pictures like in the movies
• He took the scissors out of your hands and pulled you into a warm hug
• When you began to let out the tiniest sobs, he only hugged you tighter
• “They were a jerk, how could they do this to my best friend?”
• Once you calmed down, he began making fun of the way your ex talked and did things which soon started a whole competition on who could imitate them best
• Hyunjin would make sure your ex was out of your mind by distracting you with the little things
• You insisted and pleaded endlessly for him to cook for you to which he only agreed on the terms you would help too
• He would let you do mostly everything yourself, helping with simple things like adding herbs, spices etc or stirring the pan
• By the end of it you both ate the food in comfortable silence until you wanted to say something
• Hyunjin… thank you.” “Thank you?” “Yes. Thank you. You’re just the best.” “Huh. I AM the best aren’t I?”

"I guess I'm just destined to be alone." You turn off your phone with a resigned sigh and set it down on the coffee table in front of you, trying and failing to fight the tears threatening to spill from your eyes.
For months, you have had a crush on Minho, the boy who sat next to you in Calculus.
You know him outside of class too, as you, Minho, and a few other friends all live in the same dorm. Time passed in a whirlwind as you found yourself falling slowly in love with him, but unfortunately, it came to a jarring halt when you discovered he had a girlfriend. Another girl who will be able to hold his hand always, another girl who will be the object of his dreams, another girl who will be the reason for his beautiful smile.
Your best friend, Hyunjin, sits beside you, disbelief bubbling inside of him. "How can you say that? I'm literally right here."
In spite of yourself, you laugh, but mixed with your sobbing, it sounds more like a strange cough. "You know what I mean. This happens every time. I fall in love with someone who doesn't love me back. It's the circle of my life."
Hyunjin hates to see you like this, mostly because he knows exactly how you feel. His own heart hurts too, but he doesn't show it. He reaches over and wipes the tears from your cheeks. "There is someone out there who is just right for you. I promise."
Sniffling, you look away from Hyunjin, unable to bear the indignance in his gaze. Your best friend is a hopeless romantic, he will never know the pain of unrequited love. "I just want someone to love me."
I love you, is what Hyunjin wanted to say. I love you so much.
Instead, he circles his arms around you and draws you close to his body, letting you cry silently in the comfort of his embrace.  He rubs soothing circles into your back, slowly leading you into the solace of sweet slumber. Hyunjin's favorite shirt is soaked with your tears, but he barely even notices, quietly gazing out beyond the balcony. The moon is already up, enveloped in a pink and blue streaked sunset.
One day, when he finds enough courage, he'll tell you how he really feels. But until then, he will be there by your side, no matter what. The fairy lights strung around your room cast a warm glow on your skin, and Hyunjin can't help but lean forward and brush his lips lightly against your forehead.
I wish you knew how much I love you.
